  Refined and redeemed. Have you ever been in a season
• 0:15
  where it felt like everything was being tested?
• 0:18
  Your patience, your faith, your sense of who you even are?
• 0:22
  Like life just kept turning up the heat and you had no idea
• 0:26
  when it was going to let up. That pressure is real and the
• 0:30
  Bible doesn't pretend it isn't. Proverbs chapter 17, verses 3 to
• 0:35
  4 says the Crucible is for silver and the furnace is for
• 0:39
  gold, and the Lord tests hearts. Now think about that for a
• 0:43
  second. A Crucible is an intense heat
• 0:45
  that burns away impurities so that what's left is pure,
• 0:49
  valuable, and strong. And the verse is saying that's
• 0:52
  what God does with us. He doesn't put us in the fire to
• 0:56
  destroy us, He puts us in the fire to refine us, to burn off
• 1:00
  the stuff that doesn't belong, to reveal what we're really made
• 1:04
  of. That's not an easy truth, but it
• 1:08
  is a hopeful 1. Psalm 63, verses 3 and 4.

  Give us something to hold onto in those moments, because your
• 1:16
  steadfast love is better than life.
• 1:18
  My lips will praise you, so I will bless you.
• 1:21
  As long as I live in your name. I will lift up my hands.
• 1:25
  David wrote this in a dry and weary wilderness, Literally.
• 1:29
  He was hiding, exhausted, uncertain about his future.
• 1:32
  And yet in the middle of all of that, he was able to say, God,
• 1:36
  your love is better than life itself.
• 1:39
  That's not denial. That's depth of faith.
• 1:42
  That's someone who has learned to find God even in the furnace.
• 1:46
  And then there's Ruth's story picking back up in Ruth chapter
• 1:50
  4. Remember, she had lost her
• 1:52
  husband, She followed her mother-in-law into an uncertain
• 1:56
  future. She worked in someone else's
• 1:58
  fields just to survive. And yet God was writing a
• 2:02
  redemption story the whole time. In Ruth chapter 4 verses 14 and
• 2:06
  15, the women say to Naomi, Blessed be the Lord, who has not
• 2:11
  left you this day without a Redeemer.
• 2:13
  He shall be. To you, a restorer of life and a
• 2:16
  nourisher of your old age, what looked like loss became legacy.
• 2:20
  What looked like the end became a new beginning.
• 2:24
  Here's the thing about hard seasons.
• 2:26
  They rarely make sense while you're in them.
• 2:28
  You can't see what God is building when you're in the
• 2:31
  middle of the breaking, but that doesn't mean he isn't working.
• 2:35
  The furnace isn't a sign that God has abandoned you.
• 2:38
  It might actually be a sign that He trusts you with something
• 2:41
  deeper. You might be going through
• 2:44
  something right now that feels like it's too much.
• 2:47
  Relationship drama, family stress, pressure at school,
• 2:51
  disappointment that just won't let up and you're wondering when
• 2:54
  it's going to end. Can I encourage you?

  Just like fire transforms raw gold into something beautiful,
• 3:01
  God can use every hard moment to shape your character deep in
• 3:05
  your faith and lead you into something better than what you
• 3:08
  could have planned for yourself. Don't give up in the furnace.

  The refining is happening. Let's pray.

  Heavenly Father, thank you for using even the hard moments in
• 3:20
  our lives to grow our faith and draw us closer to You.

  We don't always understand the fire, but we trust the One who
• 3:27
  holds us in it. Help us to find joy in Your
• 3:30
  steadfast love, even in difficult seasons, and give us
• 3:34
  the courage to believe that you are writing a redemption story
• 3:38
  even when we can't see it yet. In Jesus name, Amen.
