- 0:00Exodus chapter 33. Let us pray.
- 0:06Our Lord, our God, our King are everything.
- 0:08We thank you, God, for another day to come and worship you in
- 0:11spirit and truth. We thank you for who you are and
- 0:13what you represent. We thank you that you are good.
- 0:17You are holy and worthy. We empty ourselves of ourselves.
- 0:24We come in, Lord, to the holiest of holy places.
- 0:28Touch us God, anoint us. God, give us a greater measure
- 0:35of who you are. I pray that we could see you
- 0:38rightly high, lifted up. Above all entities, above all
- 0:43governments, all principalities, all rulers.
- 0:49You are high and lifted up. You are lofty.
- 0:53You're the greatest thought that we could ever have, Lord.
- 0:58We desire more. We want to see you, God.
- 1:01We want to be there with you. Come and be here with us.
- 1:05Teach us your ways. Teach us your paths.
- 1:07Help us to come out on the other side, intact and whole.
- 1:13Help us, Lord, when we go through the waters, Lord, be
- 1:16there with us. Grab our hands and lead us
- 1:19through it, Lord. Help us not to live in fear.
- 1:23Help us not to be consumed with anxiety, God.
- 1:27Help us not to be lovers of mammon, God.
- 1:30Help us not to serve mammon, God.
- 1:33Help us not to be those who only care about the physical things,
- 1:38but help us to be preoccupied with the spiritual God
- 1:42throughout our entire life. Lord, it's you and it's you and
- 1:45it's you alone, God, that we love and we desire and we want,
- 1:50Lord, and we need more than breath.
- 1:55Help us, Lord, to snatch those firebrands out of the fire, to
- 2:00snatch those out of the frigid, icy waters.
- 2:04God, into the lifeboats. Put the new garments upon us,
- 2:08God, the garments of praise. God, take away the heaviness,
- 2:13Lord. Thank you God, for Jesus Christ
- 2:21who saved us and is saving us. God, it's in his holy and
- 2:28precious and powerful name that I pray.
- 2:31Amen. Well, let's start in verse one.
- 2:36And the Lord said to Moses, depart, go up here, you and your
- 2:45people, which you have brought out of the land of Egypt unto
- 2:49the land which I swore to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob,
- 2:53saying unto your seed, I will give it.
- 2:56So Moses here is told to continue to stay the course.
- 3:02And God's here he's saying, just go, go to where I told you you
- 3:07could go first two, and I will send an Angel before you, and
- 3:12I'll drive out the Canaanite and the Amorite to Hittite, the
- 3:16Perizzite, the Hivite and the Jebizzite.
- 3:19So you need to know these are real people and real points of
- 3:27problems for the Israelites. You need to understand this is
- 3:31not just an easy March in. You need to understand that
- 3:37God's ways are not our ways, His thoughts are not our thoughts,
- 3:41and if we were God, we'd do it completely different.
- 3:46But God knows just what He's doing and just how to do it to
- 3:49develop us into the character of the people, of the men and women
- 3:53that He desires for all of eternity.
- 3:55And He uses all of these points of conjecture.
- 3:58He uses all of this contention in our lives to get us to the
- 4:02place where we can finally rule and reign with Him for all of
- 4:07eternity. 3 Unto a land flowing with milk and honey, For I will
- 4:16not go up in the midst of you, for you are a stiff necked
- 4:22people, lest I consume you in the way.
- 4:26So God's loving kindness says it's best for me not to continue
- 4:31on with you as I have in the past, because you're so stiff
- 4:35necked and bent on destruction that the 3000 that were just
- 4:40slain will be nothing compared to when my holy reverence breaks
- 4:49out in the camp of people who turn their backs on me.
- 4:55So it's best that I send an Angel to lead you and to drive
- 4:59out all the enemies, for I cannot go with you.
- 5:05For. And when the people heard these
- 5:07evil tidings, they mourned, and no man did put on his ornaments.
- 5:12This was a rightful response. This was the correct response to
- 5:20the news that God was not going to go with them anymore, that it
- 5:25was going to be an Angel that was going to lead them from this
- 5:29point on. And they mourned, even though
- 5:32they took God for granted, they mourned that He had said that He
- 5:36was not going to go with them. 5 For the Lord had said to Moses,
- 5:42Say to the children of Israel, You are stiff necked people, I
- 5:46will come up into the midst of you in a moment and consume you.
- 5:51Therefore now put off your ornaments from you, that I may
- 5:53know what to do to you. So they were in a holding
- 5:57pattern and God said to get rid of all the ridiculous vain
- 6:01jangling and to have reverence for Him and to know that we are
- 6:08just dust. We bring nothing to the table,
- 6:12Friend. It's all about King Jesus and
- 6:16what He does. He gives us our worth.
- 6:18He gives us our dignity. He gives us our inheritance.
- 6:25We do not work for it, friends, so that you can boast.
- 6:28It is all about the Lord Jesus Christ.
- 6:36Six And the children of Israel stripped themselves of their
- 6:39ornaments by the Mount Horeb. So you can see here that they
- 6:43were just dancing and revelling and drunken orgies.
- 6:46And here you can see that now they have been completely
- 6:50humiliated. They're stripped of everything
- 6:55outwardly, and they must sit and think and fix their eyes and
- 7:01their minds upon a holy God who is in limbo.
- 7:05Indecision of trying to figure out what to do. 7 of Moses took
- 7:10the Tabernacle, and he pitched it outside.
- 7:12The Moses took the Tabernacle and pitched it outside the camp,
- 7:17far off from the camp, and called it the Tabernacle of the
- 7:20congregation. And it came to pass that
- 7:23everyone which sought the Lord went out to the Tabernacle of
- 7:26the congregation which was outside the camp.
- 7:30So here we know that Moses took his common tent and he placed it
- 7:34outside of the camp. And it was him taking it and
- 7:43sanctifying it and consecrating it.
- 7:47And he's taking his tent, and he is making it holy and set apart
- 7:52from the rest of the camp. 8 And it came to pass when Moses went
- 7:59out to the Tabernacle, that all the people rose up and stood
- 8:03every man at his tent door, and looked after Moses until he was
- 8:07gone into the Tabernacle. So as Moses got up and started
- 8:11to walk outside the camp to his tent that he had made holy and
- 8:15set apart, the people would come to the edge of their tent, to
- 8:18the door, and they would watch him as he walked towards his
- 8:21tent. 9 And it came to pass, as Moses entered into the
- 8:27Tabernacle, that the cloudy pillar descended and stood at
- 8:31the door of the Tabernacle, and the Lord talked with Moses.
- 8:35Can you see the scene, friends? Moses gets up and he starts to
- 8:39head towards his tent. The people come to their door to
- 8:42watch him go. When Moses goes in, the pillar
- 8:46of cloud goes and sits right at the edge at the door of his
- 8:51tent. And God spoke to Moses tin, and
- 8:55all the people saw the cloudy pillar stand at the Tabernacle
- 8:59door. And all the people rose up and
- 9:01worshipped every man in his tent door.
- 9:04So here they could see that there was a manifest presence of
- 9:08God, Yahweh. And it was pleased to go and sit
- 9:11at the door of Moses's tent, which was holy and outside of
- 9:15the camp. And all the people bowed down
- 9:17low and worshiped God. And I wonder why they couldn't
- 9:21have done it when Moses was up on the Mount Sinai.
- 9:24And that's for you. And that's for me, friends.
- 9:27We need to worship God when we can't see him.
- 9:29We need to worship God when we don't feel like it.
- 9:32We need to worship God when all of our senses is telling us to
- 9:35rely on self, to rely on money, to rely on the government, to
- 9:39rely on this world, to rely on the physical.
- 9:43We need to know that we know that we know that we know that
- 9:46God is worthy to be praised, even when we don't feel like it,
- 9:50even when we can't see it. Friends. 11 And the Lord spoken
- 9:59to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend.
- 10:04And he turned again into the camp of his servant Joshua the
- 10:07son of Nun, a young man departed, not out of the
- 10:10Tabernacle. So think about it.
- 10:13Here we can see that Joshua is Privy.
- 10:17He has the front row seat to all of the things of God and of
- 10:22Moses as they talk and they Sup and they dine with each other as
- 10:26they are friendly to each other. Joshua gets to see behind the
- 10:30curtain, behind the scenes friends.
- 10:32He has a front row pass friends and it's going to help him as
- 10:39Moses departs from the scene. Joshua's going to remember all
- 10:42of these things about Yahweh Everlasting. 12 And Moses said
- 10:51to the Lord, See, you say to me, bring up this people, and you
- 10:57have not let me know whom you will send with me, yet you have
- 11:02said, I know you by name, and you have also found grace in my
- 11:06sight. So this is Moses interceding and
- 11:10advocating for Israel, and he's saying to God, You've not told
- 11:14me who you were going to send with me. 13 Now therefore I pray
- 11:21you, if I found grace in your sight, show me now your way,
- 11:27that I may know you, that I may find grace in your sight.
- 11:31And consider that this nation is your people.
- 11:34So we can see here that Moses is being developed by God, and God
- 11:41is getting the character out of Moses and refining Moses into
- 11:46the great and mighty man that he is to become. 14 And he said, my
- 11:53presence shall go with you, and I will give you rest Praise God.
- 11:58Hallelujah. Underline it, highlight it, mark
- 12:01it, put it in your journal, memorize it, commit it to
- 12:04memory. Friends, God's going to give us
- 12:07rest, and he's going to go with us.
- 12:09Praise the Lord. 15 And he said to him, If your presence go not
- 12:14with me, carry us, not from here.
- 12:16So he's saying I don't want to go anywhere if you're not with
- 12:19us. Can you say the same?
- 12:21Friends? Do not go out in your own
- 12:22strength. Wait on the Lord, and when the
- 12:25Lord moves you go, friends. But when the Lord says wait, and
- 12:29he says stop, don't keep going. 16 Wherein shall it be known
- 12:36here that I and your people have found grace in your sight?
- 12:40It is not in that you go with us.
- 12:43So shall we be separated, and I your people, and all the people
- 12:48that are upon the face of the earth.
- 12:50So Moses is saying, how will we know that you're with us?
- 12:55How do we know that you're for us if you will not go with us?
- 13:0017 And the Lord said to Moses, I will do this thing also that
- 13:04you've spoken for. You have found grace in my
- 13:06sight, and I know you by name. So here Moses, just like Jacob,
- 13:13when he wrestled with God, Moses was developed and God gave in,
- 13:18but he already knew what he was going to do.
- 13:20Don't forget that, friends. 18 And he said, I beg you, show me
- 13:24your glory. So this was a stamp that Moses
- 13:28is looking for. He's saying, OK, I believe your
- 13:30words that you're going to go with us, but I want to see your
- 13:33glory. I pray that that's what you
- 13:36press towards friends. I pray that it is the glory of
- 13:39God that consumes you day and night, night and day, day after
- 13:45day, after day after day, 365 days, 24 hours a day, seven days
- 13:51a week. The glory of God.
- 13:53Let it consume your mind. Let it consume your will and
- 13:56your emotions. Friends, do not be consumed by
- 13:59this world and not be overtaken by mammon.
- 14:02Friends, not be overtaken by your emotions.
- 14:08Be consumed by the presence of God.
- 14:12Show me your glory. 19 And he said, I will make all my
- 14:16goodness pass before you, and I will proclaim the name of the
- 14:20Lord before you, and I, and will be gracious to whom I will be
- 14:24gracious, and I will show mercy on whom I will show mercy.
- 14:28So isn't this amazing that this is the God that we worship?
- 14:32He elects and he predestines friends, and he already knows
- 14:38who's going to be there with him in the end. 20 And he said, You
- 14:43cannot see my face, for there shall no man see me and live.
- 14:46God is brighter than all the known Suns in the universe, all
- 14:50put together. You cannot stare upon the sun
- 14:54without your eyes burning out of your skull, and it is no
- 14:57different with the holy God, who burns brighter than all the Suns
- 15:01put together. He dwells in unapproachable
- 15:04light, friends, and that is what is referenced here. 21 And the
- 15:10Lord said, Behold, there is a place by me that you shall stand
- 15:14upon a rock. Perhaps this is the same rock
- 15:17that Elijah finds later on. 22 And they shall come to pass,
- 15:22while my glory passes by, that I will put you in a cleft of the
- 15:27rock, and I will cover you with my hand while I pass by.
- 15:31So you need to understand that God is Spirit.
- 15:36You need to understand that any physical manifestation of God is
- 15:40our Lord Jesus Christ. You need to understand that God
- 15:47here is so incredibly kind, in the same way that whenever Moses
- 15:53went up and they got to see the footstool of God and they had a
- 16:00dinner, there at the foot of God is no different.
- 16:03Here, friends, the God in some amazing miraculous way hides
- 16:10Moses with his hand and allows him to see his backside. 22 And
- 16:17they shall come to pass, while my glory passes by, That I will
- 16:21put you into the cleft of the rock, and I will cover you with
- 16:23my hand will end on. 23 And I will take away my hand, and you
- 16:28shall see my back parts, but my face shall not be seen.
- 16:33Isn't it amazing in the Book of Revelation that God comes down
- 16:37with New Jerusalem, and He's there with us forever and ever?
- 16:42We have to be outfitted to be able to see God in this physical
- 16:46body that you and I are stuck in right now.
- 16:50We cannot see God and live. We must be given a new tent,
- 16:55must take off the perishable and put on the imperishable in order
- 17:00to seek God. I pray that you've been blessed
- 17:03by this amazing chapter in God's Word.
- 17:05I know I sure have. I'm praying for every single one
- 17:08of you. I love you.
- 17:10We'll see you back here tomorrow.
- 17:11God bless you.
