Transcript
- 0:01SPEAKER_01: If you felt lonely, isolated, disconnected, with an empty feeling inside and just yearning for more, knowing something is missing, then this podcast is for you.
- 0:16SPEAKER_01: So here's your host, Joe Mittigan.
- 0:32SPEAKER_02: Have you ever spent years of your life chasing something you thought would finally make you happy?
- 0:39SPEAKER_02: Only to discover that when you got there, something was still missing.
- 0:44SPEAKER_02: Maybe it was money, maybe you were chasing success, maybe it was recognition, a better career, a bigger house, or simply providing to the world that you were somebody, proving to the world you were somebody, or maybe like me, you believe that once you achieved enough, accomplished enough, or became successful enough, you would finally experience the happiness and peace and freedom you've been searching for.
- 1:18SPEAKER_02: I spent a great deal of my life believing that.
- 1:21SPEAKER_02: I thought success was something I had to achieve in the outside world.
- 1:28SPEAKER_02: I thought my value came from what I accomplished, what I owned, and what other people thought about me.
- 1:37SPEAKER_02: And for years I kept chasing.
- 1:41SPEAKER_02: But something strange happened along the way.
- 1:45SPEAKER_02: The more I pursued what I thought I wanted, the more I became began to realize that none of those things could give me what I was truly searching for.
- 1:59SPEAKER_02: Because what I really was looking for wasn't success.
- 2:04SPEAKER_02: I was actually looking for meaning.
- 2:07SPEAKER_02: I wanted to know that my life mattered.
- 2:10SPEAKER_02: I wanted to understand why I was here.
- 2:14SPEAKER_02: I wanted to experience a sense of peace, love, purpose, and connection that didn't depend on what was happening in the world around me.
- 2:28SPEAKER_02: And most importantly, I wanted to discover who my higher power had created me to become.
- 3:33SPEAKER_02: More peaceful, more grateful, more authentic, more connected to a higher power, and more willing to use the experiences of my life, including the painful ones, to make the difference in other people's lives.
- 3:52SPEAKER_02: For the first time, I began to understand that my purpose wasn't something I had to chase.
- 4:00SPEAKER_02: It was something I needed to become spiritually and emotionally ready to discover.
- 4:07SPEAKER_02: And perhaps that's where many of you find yourselves today.
- 4:13SPEAKER_02: Living in a world that continually tells us to achieve more, earn more, buy more, and become more successful.
- 4:22SPEAKER_02: Yet somewhere deep inside, we're beginning to question whether the life we've been chasing is really the life we want to live.
- 4:33SPEAKER_02: Maybe we're not confused because we're failing.
- 4:37SPEAKER_02: Maybe we're confused because we're changing.
- 4:41SPEAKER_02: Maybe the things that once seemed so important are losing their meaning because we're beginning to discover something far more valuable.
- 4:52SPEAKER_02: A life of inner abundance, a life guided by love instead of fear, a life filled with purpose instead of the constant need for approval.
- 5:03SPEAKER_02: A life where success is no longer measured by what we accomplish, but by who we're becoming and how our lives affect the people around us.
- 5:16SPEAKER_02: And perhaps, just perhaps, the greatest spiritual awakening of all is discovering that the meaning we've been searching for isn't found in what the world gives us.
- 5:29SPEAKER_02: It's found in what we can become and what we can give the world.
- 5:36SPEAKER_02: Because when we begin to heal ourselves, discover our purpose, and live from a place of inner abundance, something beautiful starts to happen.
- 5:48SPEAKER_02: Our lives become about more than just ourselves.
- 5:53SPEAKER_02: We begin to understand how our personal transformation can contribute to the healing of others.
- 6:01SPEAKER_02: And when the journey begins to go from me to we, that's when we really know we're on the right path.
- 6:11SPEAKER_02: So today I want to explore why I spent so many years chasing success, what I was really searching for, and how my spiritual awakening helped me become begin discovering a life filled with meaning, purpose, and inner abundance.
- 6:30SPEAKER_02: Because perhaps the greatest success we can ever experience isn't becoming everything the world told us we should be.
- 6:41SPEAKER_02: Perhaps it's becoming the person our higher power has created us to be.
- 6:52SPEAKER_02: Welcome everybody.
- 6:54SPEAKER_02: Welcome to the We Podcast.
- 6:56SPEAKER_02: It's a great night here in Atlanta, Georgia.
- 6:58SPEAKER_02: I'm super excited to be with everybody.
- 7:00SPEAKER_02: And I just have to tell you, I'm really excited.
- 7:03SPEAKER_02: I um typically this particular episode isn't actually recorded for another day or so.
- 7:11SPEAKER_02: So I write my intros.
- 7:13SPEAKER_02: As you can tell, in the beginning, I'm reading.
- 7:15SPEAKER_02: I'm reading the intros I created.
- 7:17SPEAKER_02: I wrote that intro earlier today, and I wasn't really planning to do this podcast, the recording of it, until tomorrow or the next day.
- 7:26SPEAKER_02: But I just got real excited.
- 7:27SPEAKER_02: I found a support.
- 7:29SPEAKER_02: I'm excited to tell you about it.
- 7:31SPEAKER_02: If you could tell, I was kind of rushing through that a little bit and missing the words.
- 7:34SPEAKER_02: It's because I wasn't as practice this time on the intro.
- 7:37SPEAKER_02: And I don't really care.
- 7:38SPEAKER_02: I know you don't really care.
- 7:40SPEAKER_02: I'm excited because, like I've been saying to people, the We podcast is an awareness podcast.
- 7:46SPEAKER_02: We're here to bring awareness about all sorts of different things.
- 7:50SPEAKER_02: And I'm in constant search for a place I can point people, go to this place, and get support.
- 7:59SPEAKER_02: And I have found such a place.
- 8:02SPEAKER_02: It's another podcast, and it's called Dads in Recovery.
- 8:07SPEAKER_02: And I'm going to explain it why I'm willing, of the millions of podcasts out there, why I feel very comfortable telling the dads, especially out there, about this podcast, because you know what?
- 8:22SPEAKER_02: We are the generation of change, and I'm a dad.
- 8:25SPEAKER_02: And if you're on this, if you're on this podcast and you're a dad and you're in challenge and you need some help, and you're the person that can't stop taking your anger out on people, and you're that guy, then you already know, hopefully, that you need some help.
- 8:41SPEAKER_02: But for the rest of us out there, you know, podcasts like this, this dad's in recovery, I was just listening to it.
- 8:48SPEAKER_02: It's so fascinating to hear people just share so genuine.
- 8:53SPEAKER_02: And I want to share about that.
- 8:54SPEAKER_02: I'm going to share with you why I chose this particular one and just tell you why I did.
- 8:59SPEAKER_02: I'll get to that in a second.
- 9:00SPEAKER_02: Today's podcast is about we're going to follow in, continue on the series that I talked about of developing our guidance systems.
- 9:09SPEAKER_02: You remember we talked about going from completely unconscious to conscious in my last podcast.
- 9:15SPEAKER_02: Today's podcast, we're going to go from the whole idea of hearing your thoughts, the conscious idea of hearing your thoughts, and writing those thoughts down.
- 9:24SPEAKER_02: We're going to go through the exercises and we'll get into the how-to.
- 9:28SPEAKER_02: How do you go from no thought to thought, and then glass empty thoughts to glass full thoughts.
- 9:35SPEAKER_02: And then after that, in future podcasts, after the glass full thoughts, we move into being guided by our feelings and then guiding by our knowings, guided by our discernments, and then eventually guided by a power greater than ourselves.
- 9:51SPEAKER_02: And those are kind of the themes of the up and coming podcast that are going to be coming up.
- 9:55SPEAKER_02: And I'm going to go into depths of all of that.
- 9:58SPEAKER_02: I really am.
- 9:58SPEAKER_02: It's an exciting time.
- 10:00SPEAKER_02: So welcome everybody, literally from around the world.
- 10:04SPEAKER_02: I can tell you that the Wii podcast is just truly exploding.
- 10:09SPEAKER_02: And I'm super excited.
- 10:10SPEAKER_02: I am just so humbled what we are doing.
- 10:13SPEAKER_02: Because, as you know, this isn't anything to do with Joe.
- 10:17SPEAKER_02: I'm just a guy.
- 10:18SPEAKER_02: I'm literally a guy.
- 10:20SPEAKER_02: But because of all of you, you know what?
- 10:23SPEAKER_02: The Wii Podcast is accomplishing some things that Apple Podcasts and now Spotify really haven't seen.
- 10:29SPEAKER_02: I don't know if they've they probably have seen it before, but not in a long time.
- 10:33SPEAKER_02: The whole keynote that I do called Man in a Microphone is all available to be able to share because of this success, the uniqueness of this success.
- 10:42SPEAKER_02: And like I say all the time, we are the generation of change.
- 10:46SPEAKER_02: Humanity is waking up, humanity is healing.
- 10:49SPEAKER_02: And I literally am going to tell you a story that I heard on this dads of in recovery.
- 10:54SPEAKER_02: I listened to a gentleman's story, and it's a literal perfect example of how humanity is so different today than just 30 years ago.
- 11:03SPEAKER_02: You know, I've been sober 32 years, and I'll share a little bit about my experience here in a minute, but it's just different.
- 11:10SPEAKER_02: Everything is different.
- 11:11SPEAKER_02: And humanity is waking up, it truly is.
- 11:13SPEAKER_02: And it doesn't matter where you are, it doesn't matter around the globe.
- 11:17SPEAKER_02: And that's why I'm always sharing and welcoming people from around the globe because the We Podcast now is in over 30 countries.
- 11:24SPEAKER_02: We're literally ranked in 17 countries.
- 11:27SPEAKER_02: We're number one in the how-to category in Canada, Norway, United Kingdom, of course, the US.
- 11:34SPEAKER_02: And I say to all of you, how can that be?
- 11:37SPEAKER_02: Well, it's how it is because it's my divinity speaking to yours and your divinity bringing you here.
- 11:44SPEAKER_02: And the We podcast is not a um fluff podcast.
- 11:50SPEAKER_02: If you're on here, you are on a spiritual path.
- 11:52SPEAKER_02: That's an absolute fact.
- 11:53SPEAKER_02: You're a spiritual warrior.
- 11:55SPEAKER_02: You wouldn't make it through a podcast like this.
- 11:57SPEAKER_02: You couldn't.
- 11:58SPEAKER_02: And I honor you for that.
- 11:59SPEAKER_02: I really, really do.
- 12:00SPEAKER_02: And I welcome people around the world because we are all one, folks.
- 12:05SPEAKER_02: We are one.
- 12:07SPEAKER_02: Humanity as a consciousness is waking up.
- 12:10SPEAKER_02: It's waking up to the feminine side of itself.
- 12:13SPEAKER_02: It truly is.
- 12:15SPEAKER_02: And that's why I share in the different countries around the world, doesn't matter where you are, doesn't matter the color of your skin, it doesn't matter your nationality, doesn't matter the language you speak, it doesn't matter if you're in China, Korea, Oman, or Saudi Arabia, welcome to the Weave Podcast.
- 12:32SPEAKER_02: We are all one.
- 12:33SPEAKER_02: And all of us are waking up.
- 12:35SPEAKER_02: Humanity's changing.
- 12:36SPEAKER_02: It truly is.
- 12:38SPEAKER_02: And that awakening process, my voice, this isn't the man.
- 12:42SPEAKER_02: You're hearing my higher power speak through me.
- 12:46SPEAKER_02: And that's why I say it all the time.
- 12:50SPEAKER_02: If I can, you can, is my ultimate message here.
- 12:54SPEAKER_02: And I'm going to tell you about two men that when I they are exactly what I'm freaking talking about.
- 13:03SPEAKER_02: Literally.
- 13:05SPEAKER_02: They both have families, they both have careers, they both are busy, they both have massive responsibilities.
- 13:13SPEAKER_02: And they're both the ones that created this dad's in recovery.
- 13:19SPEAKER_02: And I think to myself, first off, do I know them?
- 13:23SPEAKER_02: No, I don't know him at all.
- 13:25SPEAKER_02: I see them on LinkedIn.
- 13:26SPEAKER_02: The one gentleman I've talked to, barely.
- 13:29SPEAKER_02: Do I know them?
- 13:30SPEAKER_02: No.
- 13:30SPEAKER_02: But do I need to know somebody to feel their spirit?
- 13:34SPEAKER_02: No, I don't.
- 13:35SPEAKER_02: Do I need to talk to somebody to identify their higher power divinity behavior patterns?
- 13:41SPEAKER_02: No, I don't.
- 13:42SPEAKER_02: You just watch.
- 13:43SPEAKER_02: It's the same thing with the woman that started divorce post.
- 13:47SPEAKER_02: Why do I keep bringing up this divorce post things?
- 13:50SPEAKER_02: Because folks, we are growing.
- 13:51SPEAKER_02: Humanity is growing.
- 13:53SPEAKER_02: And if your partner is not growing emotionally, spiritually, like you are, the likelihood of your paths staying together is less and less.
- 14:04SPEAKER_02: And in my opinion, the next decade, it's going to happen more and more.
- 14:07SPEAKER_02: It is.
- 14:08SPEAKER_02: Is that a good thing or a bad thing?
- 14:10SPEAKER_02: No.
- 14:10SPEAKER_02: Is it a sad thing?
- 14:12SPEAKER_02: Yes, it is.
- 14:14SPEAKER_02: Is it inevitable for millions of people around the globe?
- 14:19SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 14:20SPEAKER_02: Why?
- 14:20SPEAKER_02: Because you're outgrowing your partner, literally.
- 14:23SPEAKER_02: Outgrowing your partner.
- 14:25SPEAKER_02: And you know, this particular website I came across randomly, the woman popped up on my reel.
- 14:32SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I didn't really know what a reel was until not long ago.
- 14:36SPEAKER_02: And I hear her talking about this divorce post thing.
- 14:39SPEAKER_02: And I'm like, that's fantastic.
- 14:42SPEAKER_02: What I would have done to have it.
- 14:43SPEAKER_02: And now I try to reach out to them.
- 14:45SPEAKER_02: And you know, I don't know what the structure is that that company.
- 14:49SPEAKER_02: Typically, you know, when you write an email, I think I haven't got a reply yet, but I think you're probably talking to an AI person or I know it's support for sure.
- 14:57SPEAKER_02: So I did a little bit of background on this particular person.
- 15:01SPEAKER_02: And did I know it ahead of time?
- 15:04SPEAKER_02: No, after I did just five minutes of background.
- 15:07SPEAKER_02: Wealthy, travels the globe, super successful, done it before, no sooner needs a new business than the man on the frickin' moon.
- 15:16SPEAKER_02: So why is she doing it?
- 15:18SPEAKER_02: Passion.
- 15:19SPEAKER_02: It's her divinity.
- 15:21SPEAKER_02: Period.
- 15:22SPEAKER_02: And when I come across people that have long-term support, I'm going to share it with you, my friends.
- 15:31SPEAKER_02: I am.
- 15:32SPEAKER_02: Because I'm an awareness podcast.
- 15:34SPEAKER_02: I'm the guy going to get in your face.
- 15:36SPEAKER_02: I'm the guy that's going to ask you questions.
- 15:38SPEAKER_02: I'm the guy that's going to tell you about things.
- 15:40SPEAKER_02: I'm going to do it here in a minute.
- 15:42SPEAKER_02: I'm not long-term support.
- 15:44SPEAKER_02: That's not my role.
- 15:47SPEAKER_02: Dad's in recovery.
- 15:49SPEAKER_02: Listening to that ongoing.
- 15:51SPEAKER_02: That's support.
- 15:52SPEAKER_02: If you're going through a divorce, go to this divorce post website.
- 15:56SPEAKER_02: They've got an AI thing that you can, it's a it's an app that you can download and really get, you know, everything organized.
- 16:04SPEAKER_02: Do I know a lot about it?
- 16:06SPEAKER_02: No.
- 16:07SPEAKER_02: Do I know the formation came from a human I've never spoken to, never met, and really don't even know what they look like.
- 16:16SPEAKER_02: But I can tell by the behavior, I can feel that it comes from their divinity.
- 16:20SPEAKER_02: And anything created in divinity, folks, it's trustworthy.
- 16:25SPEAKER_02: Period.
- 16:26SPEAKER_02: And the service is free and ongoing more and more depths of service.
- 16:32SPEAKER_02: I'm sure there's a fee somewhere.
- 16:33SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 16:34SPEAKER_02: It's free.
- 16:34SPEAKER_02: Go download it and tell them the We Podcast sent you, by the way.
- 16:38SPEAKER_02: It's kind of funny.
- 16:39SPEAKER_02: Anyways, that's kind of a different topic.
- 16:42SPEAKER_02: So, why dad's in recovery?
- 16:45SPEAKER_02: Like, what is it?
- 16:46SPEAKER_02: Why did I literally have to share it today?
- 16:49SPEAKER_02: I'm in the middle of my sacred silence.
- 16:51SPEAKER_02: I've told people this.
- 16:52SPEAKER_02: And if you're new to We Podcast, welcome to bring everybody up to speed.
- 16:57SPEAKER_02: I have been asking the listeners here at the We Podcast to start a five to ten minute sacred silence.
- 17:05SPEAKER_02: And if you notice, if you've been on for a while, folks, you notice I'm going from five to ten minutes.
- 17:10SPEAKER_02: And what does that mean?
- 17:12SPEAKER_02: That means sit in silence.
- 17:14SPEAKER_02: What does silence mean?
- 17:15SPEAKER_02: It means no outside stimulus, no radio, no kids, no music, no nothing.
- 17:21SPEAKER_02: You sit with you, no scrolling.
- 17:23SPEAKER_02: You sit with you, observe your thoughts, and then listen for a quieter voice.
- 17:29SPEAKER_02: And that quieter voice is your higher power.
- 17:32SPEAKER_02: And I share this.
- 17:33SPEAKER_02: I was guided back into Sacred Silence a couple months ago.
- 17:38SPEAKER_02: And I resisted.
- 17:39SPEAKER_02: I very rarely resist ever anymore after 30 years.
- 17:44SPEAKER_02: And my path, I was in a darkness of solitude for seven years back in the 90s when I got sober.
- 17:51SPEAKER_02: And I'm going to tell that story a little bit.
- 17:53SPEAKER_02: And I was thinking that my higher power wanted me to go back into solitude.
- 17:57SPEAKER_02: And I was like, I can't.
- 17:58SPEAKER_02: I've got kids, I've got a business, I've got a body.
- 18:00SPEAKER_02: It wasn't solitude.
- 18:01SPEAKER_02: It was simply silence.
- 18:02SPEAKER_02: In other words, Joe, take your headphones off.
- 18:04SPEAKER_02: So I've been doing that just about every more than every day, five or six hours.
- 18:09SPEAKER_02: And I work puzzles.
- 18:10SPEAKER_02: So sacred silence doesn't mean you have to sit and no motion.
- 18:13SPEAKER_02: It means sit and no sound.
- 18:17SPEAKER_02: I work puzzles.
- 18:18SPEAKER_02: I'm probably about 9,000 pieces into a 40,000-piece puzzle.
- 18:23SPEAKER_02: I've got this massive Disney, 10 scenes of Disney, 10 4,000 piece puzzles.
- 18:30SPEAKER_02: I started with Bambi, 3,000 pieces into Beauty and the Beast, which I'm excited about.
- 18:36SPEAKER_02: It's beautiful, having a lot of fun.
- 18:39SPEAKER_02: And my which ties me into Dads in Recovery.
- 18:44SPEAKER_02: So every once in a while I'll look at my phone and I'll see a post from my LinkedIn.
- 18:48SPEAKER_02: And if you haven't seen my LinkedIn, go visit me, follow me, please, all over social media.
- 18:53SPEAKER_02: And I get this, I see this post of this gentleman named Cliff, Cliff McDonald.
- 18:59SPEAKER_02: And Cliff is with this, Cliff is with, he's some executive, I don't know what he really does.
- 19:06SPEAKER_02: He's some executive with a big online support company called recovery.com.
- 19:12SPEAKER_02: And I typically don't mention I nothing to do with recovery.
- 19:16SPEAKER_02: I don't typically mention organizations I don't get permission from, but Cliff works there.
- 19:21SPEAKER_02: So that's how I know the guy's got a full-time freaking job in recovery, like literally, that's what he does for a living.
- 19:28SPEAKER_02: And I so I follow him and he follows me.
- 19:30SPEAKER_02: And you know, we talked a little bit years ago because sobriety.
- 19:35SPEAKER_02: I see this post.
- 19:36SPEAKER_02: So I like, well, that's cool.
- 19:37SPEAKER_02: He shares his post.
- 19:39SPEAKER_02: And then I look at the second post, and he talks about this thing, dad's in recovery.
- 19:44SPEAKER_02: And I'm thinking, what the heck?
- 19:48SPEAKER_02: Here's a guy who spends his entire working life working in recovery, but it's not enough.
- 19:55SPEAKER_02: He's got to also do his own podcast.
- 19:59SPEAKER_02: And I so get that.
- 20:01SPEAKER_02: I so get that.
- 20:03SPEAKER_02: That's exactly what I'm telling each of you.
- 20:06SPEAKER_02: Have I spoken to either one of these men?
- 20:08SPEAKER_02: I don't know this Brandon gentleman at all.
- 20:11SPEAKER_02: Last name is Purcell.
- 20:13SPEAKER_02: Don't know him.
- 20:14SPEAKER_02: I just reached out to him on LinkedIn today.
- 20:17SPEAKER_02: I don't know either one of them, but what do I know?
- 20:21SPEAKER_02: They're full-time busy, full-time jobs, successful men, families, careers, kids, the whole thing.
- 20:28SPEAKER_02: And they put some energy into, I guarantee you, a higher power, higher purpose event called Dad's in Recovery.
- 20:38SPEAKER_02: And folks, I can guarantee you, if I had them on this show, they would say to me, Joe, I do it because it feels good.
- 20:48SPEAKER_02: I do it because it brings value to my life.
- 20:52SPEAKER_02: I do it because I just feel like I'm supposed to.
- 20:56SPEAKER_02: I believe them 100%.
- 20:58SPEAKER_02: And I asked permission.
- 21:01SPEAKER_02: I reached out to Mr.
- 21:02SPEAKER_02: Cliff.
- 21:03SPEAKER_02: I said, Do you mind if I share your podcast on this podcast, on the We podcast?
- 21:09SPEAKER_02: Dad's in Recovery.
- 21:10SPEAKER_02: He said, Yes, thank you, sir.
- 21:12SPEAKER_02: I appreciate your support.
- 21:14SPEAKER_02: So you're going to hear about it.
- 21:16SPEAKER_02: It's going to be just like I've shared this idea of divorce post.
- 21:19SPEAKER_02: You're going to hear me talk about dad's in recovery, that podcast.
- 21:23SPEAKER_02: Now, probably forever, knowing me, but I'm going to tell him, I'm going to make sure half a million people hear about that podcast.
- 21:30SPEAKER_02: Why?
- 21:31SPEAKER_02: Because it's higher purpose driven.
- 21:35SPEAKER_02: And do I know if anyone's going to go listen?
- 21:38SPEAKER_02: No.
- 21:39SPEAKER_02: But I know there's plenty of dads out there listening as we speak, plenty of moms right now, listening as to this right now, who knows their husband needs to listen to that.
- 21:50SPEAKER_02: And I'm going to make it aware.
- 21:51SPEAKER_02: I'm going to make you aware to it.
- 21:53SPEAKER_02: And that's all part of I'm gaining more and more places.
- 22:00SPEAKER_02: Where I can point you that I believe I know for a spiritual fact are guided by a higher power.
- 22:09SPEAKER_02: And when anything's guided by the higher power, it's good.
- 22:12SPEAKER_02: It's just a beautiful experience, it is.
- 22:14SPEAKER_02: And this particular group, I know it is because the last thing in the world these men need to be doing after their full-time jobs and everything I just mentioned is a new thing, is an additional thing.
- 22:28SPEAKER_02: So why do they do it?
- 22:29SPEAKER_02: Spiritually drawn to it.
- 22:31SPEAKER_02: I say that because on every episode, I say to people, all of you can do the same thing today.
- 22:41SPEAKER_02: Start your act, action of some type of higher purpose.
- 22:47SPEAKER_02: And how do you know if you're doing a higher purpose?
- 22:49SPEAKER_02: It's about serving someone else.
- 22:51SPEAKER_02: If you happen to be one of our listeners in Vietnam, and if you if you're listening to a podcast, you have greater needs, you have grander personal resources than maybe other people in your community, maybe other people in your village.
- 23:08SPEAKER_02: And so, like I said on one of my other podcasts, no way you're buying shoes for your kids for school, buy shoes for somebody else.
- 23:16SPEAKER_02: While you might be somebody in China, you might be somebody in Saudi Arabia, you know, wherever you are, when you're buying things for your kids, buy something for another kid.
- 23:27SPEAKER_02: That's all part of purpose, folks.
- 23:29SPEAKER_02: That's all part of giving back.
- 23:30SPEAKER_02: That's all part of the living of purpose.
- 23:34SPEAKER_02: My definition of purpose, we're going to talk about more and more throughout this particular episode.
- 23:40SPEAKER_02: But literally, it's one of those things as we grow and become a grander us, a grander you, as far as I'm concerned, that's you living your purpose.
- 23:53SPEAKER_02: Purpose is about asking and answering the question: why was I born?
- 23:59SPEAKER_02: Well, the why you were born is to live and grow and shift and heal, expand, and live as a grand, the grandest you possible.
- 24:12SPEAKER_02: That's your purpose.
- 24:14SPEAKER_02: Now, how you live your purpose then takes action step.
- 24:18SPEAKER_02: Like Cliff and Brandon, they're living a higher purpose, they're acting on their higher purpose by doing this podcast called Dad's in Recovery.
- 24:29SPEAKER_02: How do I know?
- 24:30SPEAKER_02: Because they both have full-time jobs.
- 24:32SPEAKER_02: I went down through the list.
- 24:33SPEAKER_02: I'm not going to repeat myself.
- 24:34SPEAKER_02: So I don't know what your higher, I don't know how you're you need to live it.
- 24:39SPEAKER_02: But if you're here on this podcast, you're already in some type of recovery.
- 24:44SPEAKER_02: You've already done spiritual growth.
- 24:46SPEAKER_02: You've already done some emotional healing.
- 24:49SPEAKER_02: You have.
- 24:50SPEAKER_02: You are already a spiritual warrior right now.
- 24:54SPEAKER_02: You couldn't make it 25 minutes into one of my podcasts and not be that already.
- 24:59SPEAKER_02: So the question is, are you living it now?
- 25:04SPEAKER_02: And I want you to keep identifying yourself.
- 25:09SPEAKER_02: When was your first conscious thought?
- 25:11SPEAKER_02: Mine was back in the early 1990s.
- 25:14SPEAKER_02: When was yours?
- 25:15SPEAKER_02: And why do I say that?
- 25:17SPEAKER_02: Because when you really think about when your first conscious thought was, when you go from unconscious to conscious, that's the spot, that's the place where your spiritual path started right there.
- 25:30SPEAKER_02: Your higher purpose started from going from unconscious to hearing your own thoughts.
- 25:36SPEAKER_02: That's when your purpose of living as the highest you possible started right there.
- 25:43SPEAKER_02: So how many years have you done that?
- 25:46SPEAKER_02: How many?
- 25:47SPEAKER_02: Why do I ask the question?
- 25:48SPEAKER_02: For me, for anybody else?
- 25:50SPEAKER_02: No, it's for you.
- 25:52SPEAKER_02: Why?
- 25:52SPEAKER_02: Because when you think back and you say, hmm, dang job, I had my first conscious thoughts 10 years before I went to an AA meeting.
- 26:01SPEAKER_02: Well, your spiritual path started 10 years before you went to an AA meeting.
- 26:05SPEAKER_02: How do I know?
- 26:06SPEAKER_02: Because that's what spiritual path is.
- 26:09SPEAKER_02: That's what enlightenment is.
- 26:12SPEAKER_02: Enlightenment, bringing light to the dark.
- 26:15SPEAKER_02: Unconscious people are living in a darkness they don't even know.
- 26:19SPEAKER_02: And I'm not talking about a darkness of their external world.
- 26:21SPEAKER_02: Their external worlds are fine, most of them.
- 26:23SPEAKER_02: I'm talking about there's no awareness inside.
- 26:27SPEAKER_02: And it's when you bring awareness inside, the first thing you become aware of is your thoughts.
- 26:33SPEAKER_02: And we're going to talk about those thoughts here in a minute.
- 26:36SPEAKER_02: But so, when was your first conscious thought?
- 26:40SPEAKER_02: And why do I want people to do that?
- 26:42SPEAKER_02: Why do I want you to write that down?
- 26:43SPEAKER_02: Why do I want you to know?
- 26:45SPEAKER_02: Because the more you start identifying yourself as somebody who's been on a spiritual path for three years, you start seeing yourself differently.
- 26:56SPEAKER_02: And as you start seeing yourself as someone living on a path for three years, you start seeing yourself as a spiritual warrior, you start seeing you as a spiritual warrior on a spiritual path, your self-esteem goes up.
- 27:09SPEAKER_02: Higher self-esteem gives you the availability to live a grander you.
- 27:14SPEAKER_02: As you feel the growth you've gone through, maybe you started your emotional growth path eight years ago.
- 27:20SPEAKER_02: And the things that used to drive you nuts eight years ago don't drive you nuts today.
- 27:25SPEAKER_02: That emotional growth is where personal value comes in, where self-worth, how we feel about ourself, that's how it grows inside when we identify our growth.
- 27:40SPEAKER_02: You know, I can tell you, I went from a pure self-hate non-god guy to somebody who lives a very cool life, very connected, a lot of self-love, and a true God guy these days, like literally.
- 27:55SPEAKER_02: Talk about it all the time.
- 27:56SPEAKER_02: And I want you to be aware of it in your own world because the more you see it in you, esteem goes higher.
- 28:05SPEAKER_02: The more you feel it in you, self-worth goes higher.
- 28:09SPEAKER_02: And as those two things grow, your capacity to live as a grander you grows.
- 28:15SPEAKER_02: And that's the power of it.
- 28:16SPEAKER_02: And that's what I want.
- 28:17SPEAKER_02: Now, does that mean you're gonna make more money?
- 28:20SPEAKER_02: No.
- 28:20SPEAKER_02: Does that mean you're not gonna have crap in your life?
- 28:22SPEAKER_02: No.
- 28:23SPEAKER_02: Does that mean you might not get fired tomorrow?
- 28:25SPEAKER_02: No.
- 28:26SPEAKER_02: Does that mean you hate your job?
- 28:28SPEAKER_02: Maybe.
- 28:29SPEAKER_02: Why?
- 28:30SPEAKER_02: What did I just say?
- 28:31SPEAKER_02: Self-esteem, self-worth, how you see yourself inside, how you feel about yourself inside.
- 28:38SPEAKER_02: And then I just mentioned eight external behaviors, eight external things.
- 28:43SPEAKER_02: They're different, folks.
- 28:45SPEAKER_02: They're different.
- 28:46SPEAKER_02: And they're different, and that's where this whole idea of chasing success, the belief system, the delusional ridiculousness of a belief system that says unconsciously, if my external world has more money, has more success, has more rewards, has the perfect wife, blah, blah, blah, then I'll internally feel better.
- 29:12SPEAKER_02: It's a falsehood.
- 29:14SPEAKER_02: It's just false.
- 29:15SPEAKER_02: Now, I'll tell you, life is a heck of a lot easier when you got plenty of money and someone loves you and you live where you want.
- 29:22SPEAKER_02: Yes, but that doesn't that does not create internal abundance at all.
- 29:26SPEAKER_02: Zero, nada, nothing.
- 29:28SPEAKER_02: It doesn't.
- 29:28SPEAKER_02: Internal abundance comes from awareness and awakening and then living it.
- 29:34SPEAKER_02: And these men are living their higher purpose, and that's why I'm recommending it.
- 29:40SPEAKER_02: Dad's in recovery.
- 29:43SPEAKER_02: You know, I asked the question, I get to ask this question.
- 29:49SPEAKER_02: When was the last time, by the way?
- 29:51SPEAKER_02: You went 30 days without drinking.
- 29:53SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna ask that a lot more because you know what?
- 29:59SPEAKER_02: There was if you're drinking all the time, if you're drinking all the time right now, or drugging all the time right now, or some type of substance that is slowing your world, numbing your world in any way, shape, or form, then you're missing out.
- 30:15SPEAKER_02: The bottom line is you're missing out on the grandness called you.
- 30:23SPEAKER_02: How do I know that?
- 30:25SPEAKER_02: Because what is a higher power?
- 30:28SPEAKER_02: What is if you had one word to put on a higher power or divinity or oneness or Jesus or Christ consciousness?
- 30:38SPEAKER_02: If you had one word to put on it, what would the word be?
- 30:41SPEAKER_02: It would be love.
- 30:43SPEAKER_02: Well, where is love?
- 30:44SPEAKER_02: In your heart.
- 30:45SPEAKER_02: How do you experience love through your feelings?
- 30:48SPEAKER_02: What happens when you drink?
- 30:51SPEAKER_02: Oh, that's right.
- 30:52SPEAKER_02: We numb our feelings.
- 30:54SPEAKER_02: But that doesn't matter, Joe.
- 30:55SPEAKER_02: I don't really drink that much.
- 30:56SPEAKER_02: I only smoke a marijuana because it's legal now, Joe, so I can do it.
- 31:00SPEAKER_02: Oh, okay.
- 31:02SPEAKER_02: So when you smoke marijuana, what is it doing?
- 31:07SPEAKER_02: It's numbing you, numbing you, period.
- 31:10SPEAKER_02: It is.
- 31:11SPEAKER_02: And that's why I ask.
- 31:14SPEAKER_02: And you know what?
- 31:15SPEAKER_02: I get to.
- 31:16SPEAKER_02: Why do I get to?
- 31:17SPEAKER_02: Because I haven't drank a drug in 32 years.
- 31:20SPEAKER_02: Now, I don't, you know, I am today's generation of an old timer, truly.
- 31:26SPEAKER_02: I mean, I'm not kidding.
- 31:27SPEAKER_02: I got sober before the internet even existed, literally.
- 31:30SPEAKER_02: And I think about, I'm gonna tell a cool story because I listened to a gentleman here, and let me go back.
- 31:37SPEAKER_02: Why do I keep mentioning that?
- 31:40SPEAKER_02: And why will I keep mentioning it periodically throughout my episodes?
- 31:44SPEAKER_02: You know why, folks?
- 31:46SPEAKER_02: Because I'm the person that loves you enough to ask.
- 31:51SPEAKER_02: And you know what?
- 31:52SPEAKER_02: If you don't like being asked, tough.
- 31:54SPEAKER_02: It's okay to be mad at Mr.
- 31:56SPEAKER_02: Joe.
- 31:56SPEAKER_02: It is okay to be really angry at me.
- 31:59SPEAKER_02: And fellas, take your anger out on Joe.
- 32:03SPEAKER_02: Put my picture on your bed.
- 32:05SPEAKER_02: Remember, we're doing the 15 minutes of healthy anger, getting it out, beating the bed?
- 32:10SPEAKER_02: Put Mr.
- 32:11SPEAKER_02: Joe's picture, get that picture off my website, you know, the one that I'm smiling and everything so wonderful.
- 32:16SPEAKER_02: Put that picture on your bed and beat the crap out of it.
- 32:20SPEAKER_02: I don't care.
- 32:20SPEAKER_02: It's okay.
- 32:22SPEAKER_02: I love you enough to ask when was the last time?
- 32:27SPEAKER_02: And you know why that's so important, folks?
- 32:30SPEAKER_02: It's because no one ever asked me.
- 32:33SPEAKER_02: They didn't.
- 32:34SPEAKER_02: It randomly happened on February 13th, 1994.
- 32:39SPEAKER_02: Randomly happened.
- 32:41SPEAKER_02: He never asked me.
- 32:43SPEAKER_02: I asked myself.
- 32:44SPEAKER_02: It's one of my first real, my second conscious thought.
- 32:49SPEAKER_02: Buddy comes in screaming, Joe, you're never gonna believe what these miserable blank, blank, blanks want me to do.
- 32:56SPEAKER_02: I'm like Lincoln, what the heck is wrong with you?
- 33:00SPEAKER_02: You know, in any given sentence, if there was 10 words in a sentence, three of them were actual words, seven of them were swear words.
- 33:07SPEAKER_02: That's how we used to talk.
- 33:09SPEAKER_02: And he says, they want me to go 90 meetings in 90 days and not drink.
- 33:13SPEAKER_02: And I remember thinking, that is the stupidest thing I'd ever heard.
- 33:17SPEAKER_02: That's what I thought.
- 33:18SPEAKER_02: And then I heard myself make fun of non-drinkers.
- 33:24SPEAKER_02: And then I asked myself the question when did I, when was the last time?
- 33:28SPEAKER_02: At that point, right before my 31st birthday, I went back to 14, probably 15, no way.
- 33:35SPEAKER_02: So I've been drinking ever since.
- 33:37SPEAKER_02: And seven days later, spiritually had a burning bush, path goes on, sexually abused memories.
- 33:46SPEAKER_02: And then I started my seven years of darkness on April the 16th, 1994.
- 33:53SPEAKER_02: And why do I say that?
- 33:55SPEAKER_02: Because when I was in AA, and because my addiction was literally removed in a burning bush experience, God, if I'm not supposed to drink a drug, I need help, is what I said.
- 34:08SPEAKER_02: I feel a rush of energy, a tear comes down my face, and all compulsion's gone.
- 34:14SPEAKER_02: I didn't walk into an AA meeting for 15, 16 months later.
- 34:19SPEAKER_02: And I was dry as I could be.
- 34:22SPEAKER_02: And I'll never forget because my spot, my therapist at the time was 10 years, 12 years in sobriety, black belt Alan.
- 34:30SPEAKER_02: And she says, You know, Joe, you might want to sh you might want to go to this AA thing.
- 34:34SPEAKER_02: Just check it out.
- 34:35SPEAKER_02: Because AA is a thing of attraction, not promotion.
- 34:38SPEAKER_02: And I remember thinking, what does she want from me?
- 34:42SPEAKER_02: I haven't drank and drugged for 15 months.
- 34:46SPEAKER_02: What does she want?
- 34:47SPEAKER_02: And one day I finally walked.
- 34:49SPEAKER_02: I learned that 12-step recoveries are about creating a relationship with a power greater than yourself.
- 34:56SPEAKER_02: They're spiritual places.
- 34:58SPEAKER_02: Well, I didn't know that ahead of time.
- 35:00SPEAKER_02: I guarantee I'm one of the only people on the planet ever walked in 15 months dry and said, I'm here, what do I do?
- 35:07SPEAKER_02: In the beginning was kind of cool.
- 35:09SPEAKER_02: Eventually it was horrible.
- 35:10SPEAKER_02: Why?
- 35:11SPEAKER_02: Because the camaraderie of the meetings, the camaraderie of the locations, the camaraderie of the people, they share their stories.
- 35:19SPEAKER_02: They can relate and have empathy and compassion for each other because their experience, strength, and hope is the same.
- 35:26SPEAKER_02: They hit the same stories, they had to go to meetings, get off the alcohol and all that.
- 35:30SPEAKER_02: Well, that wasn't my story, literally.
- 35:34SPEAKER_02: I never heard my story live.
- 35:36SPEAKER_02: So even in my AA meetings, which I attended frequently for many years, I never found anybody on the same type of path as me, literally.
- 35:47SPEAKER_02: And why do I say that?
- 35:48SPEAKER_02: Because a lot of you out there are on a similar path to me, and you'll never show up in an AA meeting.
- 35:55SPEAKER_02: Why?
- 35:55SPEAKER_02: Because you you keep wondering why the heck you keep bringing up that 30-day thing about drinking.
- 36:00SPEAKER_02: Joe I haven't drank in five years, 10 years, 12 years.
- 36:02SPEAKER_02: Great.
- 36:03SPEAKER_02: I hear you.
- 36:04SPEAKER_02: Dad's in recovery are for the people that it's a Saturday, Joe.
- 36:08SPEAKER_02: How am I supposed to watch college football without alcohol?
- 36:11SPEAKER_02: Well, I just did it.
- 36:13SPEAKER_02: So if I can, you can.
- 36:16SPEAKER_02: And I say it like that because I care.
- 36:20SPEAKER_02: And I want you to have the same type of cool life I have.
- 36:23SPEAKER_02: I got a great story in the end.
- 36:25SPEAKER_02: It's like, why?
- 36:27SPEAKER_02: Why do we want to?
- 36:29SPEAKER_02: Got a great story on the end.
- 36:30SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna tell you exactly why you truly want to.
- 36:33SPEAKER_02: Generational change, right?
- 36:36SPEAKER_02: This is another perfect example of how humanity's waking up.
- 36:40SPEAKER_02: We the veil between our consciousness and our feminine side is becoming thinner and thinner.
- 36:45SPEAKER_02: It just is.
- 36:46SPEAKER_02: And I used the extreme example of 200 years ago owning a human here in the States, perfectly legal.
- 36:54SPEAKER_02: Well, now think about just how hateful and horrible that was.
- 36:59SPEAKER_02: How could it have been so normal 200 years ago?
- 37:02SPEAKER_02: Because consciousness was completely dead, just was.
- 37:05SPEAKER_02: Well, I bring that forward to the world of recovery, the world of removing alcohol out of your life.
- 37:14SPEAKER_02: And first off, you have to ask yourself the simplest of all questions.
- 37:18SPEAKER_02: Why is it there in the first place?
- 37:21SPEAKER_02: Well, it's there because probably whenever you started, if you're like me, it's just what everybody did.
- 37:27SPEAKER_02: But that was 10 years ago, 12 years ago, 20 years ago, 30 years ago.
- 37:31SPEAKER_02: We are the generation of change, folks.
- 37:34SPEAKER_02: It's time for us to continue to change so we can share with others living as the change.
- 37:42SPEAKER_02: It's my example.
- 37:43SPEAKER_02: So, and I can tell you in the AA world, literally, when I was getting sober 30 plus years ago, the bottom, the people that actually came in there were people that had lost everything, people on their eighth DUI, people that lost their jobs, people that you know have been to prison.
- 38:08SPEAKER_02: Now, is that everybody?
- 38:10SPEAKER_02: No.
- 38:11SPEAKER_02: Was it most?
- 38:13SPEAKER_02: Yes, it really was.
- 38:15SPEAKER_02: And why do I say that?
- 38:17SPEAKER_02: Because I'm literally listening to this this dad's in recovery.
- 38:22SPEAKER_02: And I hear this young man on there, which I fabulous, sober now, however many, however long, I think, I think his sobriety date is 2019.
- 38:30SPEAKER_02: Fabulous.
- 38:30SPEAKER_02: Congratulations, sir.
- 38:31SPEAKER_02: I don't know his name.
- 38:33SPEAKER_02: But he tell he told the story about how many months before that he was in his own driveway, cops came and arrested his ass.
- 38:42SPEAKER_02: And he sideswipes the bus, thinks it's a fender bender, and comes home.
- 38:50SPEAKER_02: Well, someone gets a license, police pick him up.
- 38:53SPEAKER_02: And he goes to jail.
- 38:55SPEAKER_02: And in his mind, this gentleman's mind, like he said, that should have been my bottom.
- 39:02SPEAKER_02: Well, I thought it just brought back it brought back memories of 30 years ago.
- 39:08SPEAKER_02: And this particular man, three kids.
- 39:12SPEAKER_02: Wife came and picked him up out of jail, had plenty of money to bail himself out, and an.
- 39:17SPEAKER_02: And I'm thinking, wow, he hadn't lost anything.
- 39:23SPEAKER_02: And he's sober today.
- 39:25SPEAKER_02: Not because of that event.
- 39:26SPEAKER_02: I didn't have enough time to listen to the whole thing.
- 39:28SPEAKER_02: I will, but I don't know what happened.
- 39:30SPEAKER_02: I'm not sure how he got in.
- 39:32SPEAKER_02: But so he went to jail.
- 39:35SPEAKER_02: Wow.
- 39:35SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 39:36SPEAKER_02: In his world, devastating.
- 39:38SPEAKER_02: For his wife, terrifying.
- 39:41SPEAKER_02: The guy on the phone, whoever was leading that meeting, asked him, Did you make amends to your kids?
- 39:46SPEAKER_02: Yes, I did.
- 39:47SPEAKER_02: One, the others were too little.
- 39:49SPEAKER_02: He lost nothing.
- 39:52SPEAKER_02: And he's sober today.
- 39:54SPEAKER_02: Why do I say that?
- 39:55SPEAKER_02: That's an absolute reflection.
- 39:57SPEAKER_02: This man, this gentleman, again, I don't know his name, they'll call him Fred.
- 40:02SPEAKER_02: Fred is spiritually guided to get the heck off of alcohol.
- 40:06SPEAKER_02: Fred, Fred saw uh an embarrassing moment and used that as an instigator.
- 40:14SPEAKER_02: And now he's sober.
- 40:16SPEAKER_02: Six, seven years.
- 40:19SPEAKER_02: Thirty years ago?
- 40:21SPEAKER_02: I mean, it was a badge of honor to get arrested.
- 40:24SPEAKER_02: Well, people would talk about being arrested 15 times, and no one bailed them out.
- 40:30SPEAKER_02: Why?
- 40:30SPEAKER_02: A, they had no money, and B, because people around didn't care anymore.
- 40:35SPEAKER_02: Why?
- 40:36SPEAKER_02: Because the stereotypical alcoholic of 30 years ago, let alone before me, I'm 30 years ago.
- 40:42SPEAKER_02: I had men that were 10 and 12 and 15 years sober before me.
- 40:47SPEAKER_02: They told some really wild stories.
- 40:50SPEAKER_02: And I say it because that's a literal, living, literal example of the world is different.
- 40:59SPEAKER_02: It's different.
- 41:01SPEAKER_02: Mr.
- 41:01SPEAKER_02: Cliff, he works for this company, recovery.com.
- 41:05SPEAKER_02: I don't know a whole lot about that organization.
- 41:07SPEAKER_02: I know they're around the globe.
- 41:09SPEAKER_02: I know they're online.
- 41:12SPEAKER_02: So I said all the time: if you need help, emotional, spiritual, mental, addiction, drugs, alcohol, whatever, if you need help, which if you're on a spiritual path, you're probably going to need some help.
- 41:26SPEAKER_02: If you're on an emotional growth path, you need help.
- 41:31SPEAKER_02: I always had help.
- 41:32SPEAKER_02: Now I will tell you the difference.
- 41:35SPEAKER_02: When I went into seven years of solitude, there was a landline.
- 41:39SPEAKER_02: And I would see my spot, my counselor slash sponsor every two weeks.
- 41:45SPEAKER_02: What did I do the other 13 and a half hours, 13 days and 23 hours?
- 41:51SPEAKER_02: I sat in silence.
- 41:54SPEAKER_02: Why?
- 41:55SPEAKER_02: Because there wasn't the internet.
- 41:57SPEAKER_02: There wasn't 1-800 call somebody.
- 41:59SPEAKER_02: There wasn't online meetings.
- 42:01SPEAKER_02: There wasn't support.
- 42:05SPEAKER_02: Well, it's there now.
- 42:06SPEAKER_02: Right now, it's here.
- 42:08SPEAKER_02: And I say that.
- 42:10SPEAKER_02: That's all part of the generation of change.
- 42:14SPEAKER_02: That these emotional growth and spiritual expanding that took me months and months and months.
- 42:22SPEAKER_02: People can do now in two weeks, three weeks, four weeks.
- 42:26SPEAKER_02: This young man, again, I'm gonna call him Fred.
- 42:30SPEAKER_02: I don't know how old he is, he never said his kids were 9, 11, and 12, something like that.
- 42:38SPEAKER_02: So he's probably mid-40s, because this was six or seven years ago, mid-40s, and now he's six, seven years sober.
- 42:49SPEAKER_02: Maybe he's upper 40s, so most of his 40s with no drinking and drugging.
- 42:54SPEAKER_02: And it's just what's available to us today, and what's what we're able to do emotionally and spiritually today, because of the internet, because of the prolonged caregivers.
- 43:11SPEAKER_02: I consider Mr.
- 43:12SPEAKER_02: Cliff and Mr.
- 43:13SPEAKER_02: Brandon prolonged caregivers.
- 43:15SPEAKER_02: I do.
- 43:16SPEAKER_02: I don't know how long they've been sober, but regardless of how long they've been sober, they're willing to take their time out of their day and give back.
- 43:26SPEAKER_02: That's a prolonged caregiver.
- 43:28SPEAKER_02: There are more 20-year 12-steppers out there right now around the globe.
- 43:33SPEAKER_02: Every one of you could start a podcast just like Mr.
- 43:37SPEAKER_02: Clef did.
- 43:38SPEAKER_02: All of you could.
- 43:39SPEAKER_02: Why?
- 43:40SPEAKER_02: Because A, you're gonna feel great.
- 43:42SPEAKER_02: And B, the people that get on are gonna feel great.
- 43:46SPEAKER_02: And you'll help people that listen.
- 43:48SPEAKER_02: My book, Filling the Void, please visit joemitica.com.
- 43:53SPEAKER_02: It's for free.
- 43:54SPEAKER_02: Download it.
- 43:55SPEAKER_02: You get to download it for free.
- 43:57SPEAKER_02: I've got many books that are that have been.
- 44:00SPEAKER_02: Pouring through me, they'll all be there for free.
- 44:03SPEAKER_02: And this whole giving back concept, right?
- 44:06SPEAKER_02: I do it with the podcast, my podcast.
- 44:09SPEAKER_02: And I shared the story not long ago that I'm now really in my silence.
- 44:15SPEAKER_02: I'm being guided to get back out on the road and do keynotes face to face with people.
- 44:22SPEAKER_02: Share my story, share my man in the microphone story.
- 44:25SPEAKER_02: Why?
- 44:26SPEAKER_02: Because if I can go from almost homeless 30 years ago to where I am now, if I can, anybody can.
- 44:32SPEAKER_02: And literally, I was guided to reach out to big recovery centers, big online organizations, donate my time if they get me on stages, because that's it's a new world for me to get out on stages.
- 44:46SPEAKER_02: I will share my experience, strength, and hope for free.
- 44:50SPEAKER_02: And I'll tell the whole world about their organizations.
- 44:54SPEAKER_02: And you know, every one of them I reach out to has an interest.
- 44:56SPEAKER_02: I only reach out to one or two.
- 44:58SPEAKER_02: Someone will take me up on it.
- 45:00SPEAKER_02: And you say, Well, why are you doing that, Joe?
- 45:02SPEAKER_02: You already got a podcast.
- 45:03SPEAKER_02: I don't know why.
- 45:05SPEAKER_02: It's just I'm guided to do it.
- 45:07SPEAKER_02: I want to sleep at night.
- 45:08SPEAKER_02: That's the bottom line.
- 45:10SPEAKER_02: And my next action to sleep is share my message on stages.
- 45:15SPEAKER_02: And sooner or later, I'll come across some organization that will take me up on that.
- 45:21SPEAKER_02: And I plan to be out on numerous stages out in 2027, wherever they send me.
- 45:26SPEAKER_02: I don't care.
- 45:27SPEAKER_02: It's all about sharing the message.
- 45:29SPEAKER_02: And that's all of you can do it.
- 45:32SPEAKER_02: All of you, you're already awake enough to go share your experience, strength, and hope with another person.
- 45:41SPEAKER_02: Many of you are bringing people to the We podcast.
- 45:44SPEAKER_02: And how do I know?
- 45:45SPEAKER_02: I think we're coming up on a million downloads here soon.
- 45:49SPEAKER_02: A million.
- 45:50SPEAKER_02: And we'll be one year old in two weeks.
- 45:55SPEAKER_02: Well, I ain't Joe.
- 45:56SPEAKER_02: That's all of you.
- 45:58SPEAKER_02: We, that's why I call it we.
- 46:00SPEAKER_02: We in community.
- 46:02SPEAKER_02: And what is the we as far as community and connection?
- 46:05SPEAKER_02: What's it mean?
- 46:06SPEAKER_02: It means your higher power and my higher power are connecting around the globe and all of the different countries.
- 46:13SPEAKER_02: We're connecting.
- 46:14SPEAKER_02: And the more we connect, the more we grow, the more we grow, the more we connect.
- 46:18SPEAKER_02: And the more it all gets there's more and more success with it, more and more people come with it.
- 46:24SPEAKER_02: And then, just like 99% of every podcast out there, and that's why the We podcast, what we are doing here is so uniquely different, because I had no social media background, I had no big media background, I had no big money, I wasn't a global star.
- 46:41SPEAKER_02: That wasn't any of those things.
- 46:42SPEAKER_02: That's why they call it the man in the microphone.
- 46:45SPEAKER_02: Well, because of all of you, now I'm getting calls.
- 46:51SPEAKER_02: I'm literally going to be interviewed on some of the on some of the most well-known podcasts on the globe, literally.
- 46:58SPEAKER_02: And wish me luck because those people are going to hear something they never heard before.
- 47:02SPEAKER_02: Why?
- 47:02SPEAKER_02: Because we're different.
- 47:04SPEAKER_02: We are actually growing, healing, and shifting, not masking, trying to change people's mind and acting like it's not there.
- 47:10SPEAKER_02: I don't do that with the glass empty voices.
- 47:13SPEAKER_02: We want to identify and grow through the reason why we have the glass empty voices, not act like they're not there and create a positive affirmation or whatever.
- 47:24SPEAKER_02: Do I make anybody wrong?
- 47:26SPEAKER_02: No.
- 47:26SPEAKER_02: All of those techniques were techniques of the yesterday.
- 47:30SPEAKER_02: The how-to process here at the We Podcast is let's heal the reason why you have the glass empty voice.
- 47:39SPEAKER_02: Because when you heal that, everything becomes different.
- 47:42SPEAKER_02: You just become different.
- 47:43SPEAKER_02: And I can tell you, because of our successes, what we're doing here, I'm starting to get press releases.
- 47:50SPEAKER_02: And got one coming out here soon.
- 47:53SPEAKER_02: And I'm like, I joke around.
- 47:58SPEAKER_02: My kids, they hammer me.
- 48:01SPEAKER_02: And he said, my my boys, two or three months ago, they said, you know, Dad, Spotify's where people are.
- 48:06SPEAKER_02: I act like I know what I was talking about.
- 48:07SPEAKER_02: I shake my head, right?
- 48:09SPEAKER_02: I was aware, I learned about Apple Podcasts.
- 48:12SPEAKER_02: And I didn't even know what a Spotify was.
- 48:14SPEAKER_02: I'm not kidding.
- 48:15SPEAKER_02: And I say that poke in fun of myself.
- 48:17SPEAKER_02: Yeah, a little bit.
- 48:18SPEAKER_02: I say it even more.
- 48:19SPEAKER_02: If I that's why, if I can do a podcast, anybody can, that's for sure.
- 48:22SPEAKER_02: Well, lo and behold, this past week or two, the Wii podcast, number one, all weekend, number one podcast on trending podcast on Spotify.
- 48:33SPEAKER_02: And what does that tell me?
- 48:34SPEAKER_02: That tells me a lot of people are listening.
- 48:36SPEAKER_02: Why?
- 48:36SPEAKER_02: Because humanity's waking up, folks.
- 48:38SPEAKER_02: Are they listening to Joe?
- 48:40SPEAKER_02: No.
- 48:40SPEAKER_02: They're hearing the message of Joe's higher power, talking to their higher power.
- 48:44SPEAKER_02: And what does all of it mean?
- 48:46SPEAKER_02: Well, now that Spotify number one and all that stuff, you know, my people, my producer, and my PR lady, they're doing press releases, and more and more people are coming here.
- 48:57SPEAKER_02: And why is that so important?
- 48:59SPEAKER_02: Because I've got a goal.
- 49:01SPEAKER_02: My intention is to help 100 million people wake up to the conscious understanding that your answers are inside, not outside, to give you the how-to and make you aware it's possible.
- 49:14SPEAKER_02: Can I support you long term?
- 49:16SPEAKER_02: No.
- 49:17SPEAKER_02: But I can point you to the direction of places that as you go there, you'll be able to.
- 49:23SPEAKER_02: Dad's in recovery.
- 49:25SPEAKER_02: Listen to the podcast, listen to their stuff.
- 49:27SPEAKER_02: It's really good.
- 49:28SPEAKER_02: And you'll see exactly what I'm talking about.
- 49:31SPEAKER_02: If you're the dad out there that needs it.
- 49:34SPEAKER_02: Divorce post.
- 49:35SPEAKER_02: If you're going through a divorce, you don't have to do it alone.
- 49:38SPEAKER_02: Technology.
- 49:39SPEAKER_02: And this woman is an absolute example of a generation lap human.
- 49:45SPEAKER_02: She's got more money than month because she worked for 20, 30 years, built a tremendous amount of income, sold her old business.
- 49:53SPEAKER_02: I don't know what she did before.
- 49:54SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 49:55SPEAKER_02: All I know is that she's well off.
- 49:58SPEAKER_02: And now she's sharing her passion with something.
- 50:01SPEAKER_02: She's sharing her passion with a topic she feels passionate about, obviously, this divorce.
- 50:07SPEAKER_02: That's the type of person that if you're in need, go let these let that organization help you.
- 50:14SPEAKER_02: Let them help.
- 50:15SPEAKER_02: That's all part of the generation of change.
- 50:18SPEAKER_02: Am I financially connected to any of these people?
- 50:22SPEAKER_02: No, I don't even know these people.
- 50:26SPEAKER_02: Well, Joe, if you don't know them, why are you telling about them?
- 50:28SPEAKER_02: Because I care about you.
- 50:31SPEAKER_02: All of you, everybody listening here, you are who I care about.
- 50:36SPEAKER_02: Why?
- 50:36SPEAKER_02: Because you are me and I am you.
- 50:39SPEAKER_02: We are no different.
- 50:40SPEAKER_02: I don't know where you are on your path, but guarantee I can connect to it, I can relate to it.
- 50:45SPEAKER_02: So I look forward to meeting your faces out in public.
- 50:49SPEAKER_02: I just do.
- 50:50SPEAKER_02: And I care about all of you.
- 50:52SPEAKER_02: And I know that I go through some pretty challenging topics here.
- 50:56SPEAKER_02: And I want to be able to point you to places that can help you and help you grow, help you heal, help you shift.
- 51:02SPEAKER_02: And then people will say, Well, Joe, you know, you got this podcast, all these listeners and all this and that.
- 51:06SPEAKER_02: Are you going to make money on it?
- 51:08SPEAKER_02: No.
- 51:10SPEAKER_02: Will there be sponsors eventually?
- 51:12SPEAKER_02: I think so, as long as they don't interrupt my as long as they don't interrupt this.
- 51:16SPEAKER_02: Why?
- 51:17SPEAKER_02: And I won't do anything that I don't believe in.
- 51:19SPEAKER_02: Why?
- 51:20SPEAKER_02: Because I I'm not doing this for the money.
- 51:22SPEAKER_02: Well, people say, then, Joe, what?
- 51:24SPEAKER_02: How will you ever make any money?
- 51:26SPEAKER_02: You want to know, folks, how I'm going to make money?
- 51:28SPEAKER_02: I'll tell you straight up.
- 51:29SPEAKER_02: I've got probably 20 books in me.
- 51:31SPEAKER_02: I've got three of them already written and edited.
- 51:33SPEAKER_02: I got six of them around me right now.
- 51:35SPEAKER_02: I can produce a book per two months.
- 51:38SPEAKER_02: And I put them up.
- 51:40SPEAKER_02: You remember what my goal is?
- 51:42SPEAKER_02: Hundred million people.
- 51:43SPEAKER_02: How about if everybody just buys one of my books for one dollar?
- 51:48SPEAKER_02: Because that's what they'll end up being.
- 51:50SPEAKER_02: Download for a dollar.
- 51:52SPEAKER_02: You want to know, honestly, where Joe is going to earn income?
- 51:57SPEAKER_02: One dollar per book.
- 51:58SPEAKER_02: Now, will it be a buck?
- 51:59SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 52:00SPEAKER_02: If you have it on Amazon, whatever that is, I don't know.
- 52:03SPEAKER_02: But bottom line, created a podcast in less than one year.
- 52:08SPEAKER_02: We have close to a million downloads.
- 52:10SPEAKER_02: What do you think it's going to be in three years, five years, ten years?
- 52:12SPEAKER_02: It's going to be up to 100 million downloads a month.
- 52:14SPEAKER_02: It is.
- 52:15SPEAKER_02: Why?
- 52:15SPEAKER_02: Because I didn't come up with the number.
- 52:17SPEAKER_02: A power much greater than me came up with that number.
- 52:20SPEAKER_02: Well, Joe, that's not possible.
- 52:21SPEAKER_02: Yes, it is possible.
- 52:24SPEAKER_02: If all you have to do is add the audiences of all these masterful podcasters that came way before Joe, all of these big global brands, add their audiences together.
- 52:36SPEAKER_02: It's well in excess of 100 million people.
- 52:38SPEAKER_02: Well in excess of.
- 52:40SPEAKER_02: And nobody's going to leave those podcasts and listen to just we.
- 52:45SPEAKER_02: They're going to listen to their podcast.
- 52:47SPEAKER_02: They're going to listen here.
- 52:48SPEAKER_02: So just so everybody knows, will Joe make some money someday, somehow, about the Wii Podcast?
- 52:54SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 52:54SPEAKER_02: A buck, a download.
- 52:56SPEAKER_02: And why is that important?
- 52:58SPEAKER_02: Because why I started the Wii Podcast is because of my nonprofit called Project Smile.
- 53:06SPEAKER_02: Project Smile is a passion for me.
- 53:08SPEAKER_02: Look it up, Project Smile.world.
- 53:12SPEAKER_02: I have two caregivers in Uganda.
- 53:15SPEAKER_02: True, hardcore, absolutely love without condition, men who have dedicated their entire lives to caring for orphans.
- 53:27SPEAKER_02: Both of them.
- 53:28SPEAKER_02: One man has 44 children under the age of six.
- 53:32SPEAKER_02: The other man has more teenage, and they both have wives.
- 53:35SPEAKER_02: They both have kids.
- 53:37SPEAKER_02: True passion.
- 53:38SPEAKER_02: So most of the money I make here at the Wii podcast will be going to fund that.
- 53:45SPEAKER_02: Literally, I've got one of my guys, he asked me just he wants to go back to school.
- 53:51SPEAKER_02: He's got it, he's he wants to be some type of nurse science something.
- 53:56SPEAKER_02: And they've given him a scholarship to do it.
- 54:00SPEAKER_02: But of course, he has to have the money to travel per semester.
- 54:03SPEAKER_02: And I asked, you know, it's$295 per semester.
- 54:08SPEAKER_02: That's twice a year.
- 54:10SPEAKER_02: And I told him, I said, well, work on it.
- 54:12SPEAKER_02: Of course, I'll get that to you.
- 54:14SPEAKER_02: My oldest son eats more than$295 of food a week.
- 54:21SPEAKER_02: Period.
- 54:22SPEAKER_02: He does.
- 54:22SPEAKER_02: Now think about it.
- 54:24SPEAKER_02: I am an example of that whole idea of generation lab.
- 54:31SPEAKER_02: I have more money than month.
- 54:33SPEAKER_02: Most of you have more money than month.
- 54:35SPEAKER_02: Now, if the gentleman would have said to me, Brother B, it's$29,000, Mr.
- 54:40SPEAKER_02: Joe, I'd have said, wow, well, good luck.
- 54:42SPEAKER_02: Congratulations.
- 54:42SPEAKER_02: I'll pray for you.
- 54:43SPEAKER_02: He said$295.
- 54:46SPEAKER_02: Now, how do you think I'm going to feel in two years, three years, however long it takes, where this man shows me his diploma because I invested$295 per six months in a human being around the globe?
- 55:00SPEAKER_02: How do you think I'm going to feel?
- 55:02SPEAKER_02: I'll tell you how I'm going to feel.
- 55:03SPEAKER_02: I'm going to feel fantastic.
- 55:05SPEAKER_02: And that's going to inspire him.
- 55:07SPEAKER_02: It's going to inspire his kids.
- 55:08SPEAKER_02: It's going to inspire everybody else.
- 55:10SPEAKER_02: Am I special?
- 55:11SPEAKER_02: No.
- 55:12SPEAKER_02: How'd I find him?
- 55:13SPEAKER_02: LinkedIn.
- 55:14SPEAKER_02: Why is it available?
- 55:16SPEAKER_02: Technology.
- 55:17SPEAKER_02: We are the generation of change.
- 55:19SPEAKER_02: And everybody on this, 98% of you listening to me here, you all have$295.
- 55:25SPEAKER_02: You definitely, that whole relationship started for$50, saved a little girl's arm for$50.
- 55:31SPEAKER_02: Am I suggesting you go onto LinkedIn and find a caregiver in Uganda?
- 55:35SPEAKER_02: No.
- 55:36SPEAKER_02: But go find someone somewhere, somehow, just like Mr.
- 55:40SPEAKER_02: Cliff and Mr.
- 55:40SPEAKER_02: Brandon did, and they're giving back in that podcast.
- 55:44SPEAKER_02: I'm you're going to hear me talk about now all the time.
- 55:46SPEAKER_02: Dad's in recovery.
- 55:47SPEAKER_02: They're giving back.
- 55:49SPEAKER_02: But that they have full-time jobs, but they're giving back.
- 55:52SPEAKER_02: You can do that same thing.
- 55:54SPEAKER_02: The whole concept of conscious shifting and conscious growing and the next phase after we go from unconscious to conscious.
- 56:04SPEAKER_02: And when we become conscious, especially in the beginning, we start hearing our thoughts and we're like, oh boy, I didn't know all that was in there.
- 56:13SPEAKER_02: And in the beginning, I would hear it, but I wouldn't identify it.
- 56:16SPEAKER_02: There was no awakening to it, truly.
- 56:20SPEAKER_02: I had two different, I had two different counselors tell me that, you know, Joe, every time you criticize somebody, there's one finger pointing out, three fingers pointing back.
- 56:29SPEAKER_02: So, folks, football.
- 56:32SPEAKER_02: When they miss the, you should hear me, the quarterback.
- 56:36SPEAKER_02: Oh my goodness.
- 56:37SPEAKER_02: Every time somebody misses a ball, I hear myself.
- 56:39SPEAKER_02: Now, again, it's I'm with just me, so I'm not literally, I, you know, I like to holler.
- 56:43SPEAKER_02: I have a lot of fun.
- 56:44SPEAKER_02: But I used to do that every day, all the time.
- 56:47SPEAKER_02: So listen to yourself.
- 56:49SPEAKER_02: If you're criticizing somebody else or shaming somebody else or making somebody else wrong, that's your self-hate and fear acting out on another human.
- 56:58SPEAKER_02: And what I'm asking you to do is slow down in your silence, listen to the voices, and make sure you start writing them out.
- 57:07SPEAKER_02: The how-to, how do you go from being guided by your glass empty voices to glass full voices?
- 57:15SPEAKER_02: You write down the glass empty voices.
- 57:19SPEAKER_02: For you 12-steppers out there, that's called a first step.
- 57:22SPEAKER_02: The first step of the program, when you write out your first step, is you write out the voices, literally.
- 57:28SPEAKER_02: And why do we want to do that, Joe?
- 57:30SPEAKER_02: Well, because glass empty voices are based in fear.
- 57:35SPEAKER_02: And if fear is the only guidance system guiding you, if you're making your Tuesday morning decisions based on those fear-based voices, if that's how it's happening, then you're making your decisions based on fear.
- 57:49SPEAKER_02: Fear of losing what you have, fear of not getting what you want.
- 57:52SPEAKER_02: That's what fear is.
- 57:53SPEAKER_02: That's why that's what happens.
- 57:54SPEAKER_02: And we didn't even know we do it.
- 57:56SPEAKER_02: Well, how abundant do you think your life is going to be when fear is the primary motivation?
- 58:04SPEAKER_02: For most of you, not very.
- 58:07SPEAKER_02: Now, there are plenty out there that their fear of not making enough money, they go out there and make five million dollars.
- 58:14SPEAKER_02: The challenge is there any peace, serenity, or abundance?
- 58:18SPEAKER_02: No, because their fear of making it, then when they have it, they're gonna have a fear of losing it, and then it's never gonna be enough.
- 58:25SPEAKER_02: Now, do I hope all of you go out and make five million bucks?
- 58:29SPEAKER_02: Yes, I do, I really do.
- 58:31SPEAKER_02: But let's do it from glass full.
- 58:32SPEAKER_02: So, how do we go from glass empty to glass full?
- 58:35SPEAKER_02: Well, you write down the glass empty voices, you write them down, you write them down on a list.
- 58:40SPEAKER_02: When I did my first step, literally, I was in the program for a while, and I didn't know what the heck I was doing.
- 58:48SPEAKER_02: I didn't know any of it.
- 58:50SPEAKER_02: The very first voice, my and my counselor, Nancy, said, You know, Joe, you need to write them down.
- 58:55SPEAKER_02: You know, my write down those voices.
- 58:57SPEAKER_02: You know what my first voice, my first voice in my head was?
- 59:00SPEAKER_02: I don't have any voices.
- 59:02SPEAKER_02: And literally I proceeded to write, and I used legal size paper and I filled eight pages of bullet point after bullet point.
- 59:10SPEAKER_02: And what do those voices look like?
- 59:12SPEAKER_02: You're too fat, you're too stupid, you're too ugly, you're too black, you're too white, you're too this, or I'm too ugly, I'm too stupid, no one cares, no one loves me, I'm not good enough, or she's a loser, or he's too fat, or he'll never make it anything.
- 59:30SPEAKER_02: It's the he voices and the she voices is the projection of guilt, they're doing something wrong.
- 59:40SPEAKER_02: Guilt, the I voices, I'm this, I'm that, I'm whatever.
- 59:45SPEAKER_02: Those are shame-based voices, and those are different things, yes.
- 59:50SPEAKER_02: Guilt voices were created from abandonment, shame voices were created from neglect, all based in the inner child stuff.
- 59:59SPEAKER_02: It is, but we want to get all of those voices out.
- 1:00:02SPEAKER_02: Are you gonna do it in one sitting?
- 1:00:04SPEAKER_02: A lot of you probably will.
- 1:00:06SPEAKER_02: Did I?
- 1:00:06SPEAKER_02: No, I did several.
- 1:00:08SPEAKER_02: Why?
- 1:00:08SPEAKER_02: Because I had massively hateful, hurtful.
- 1:00:10SPEAKER_02: I was just a wounded pup.
- 1:00:12SPEAKER_02: I just was.
- 1:00:13SPEAKER_02: And back in the day when I was doing it too, you know, there wasn't support.
- 1:00:19SPEAKER_02: You know, my counselor would tell me to do it.
- 1:00:21SPEAKER_02: I didn't see her again for two weeks.
- 1:00:23SPEAKER_02: So now, and why is it important?
- 1:00:26SPEAKER_02: Because you write it down, then you have to tell somebody.
- 1:00:28SPEAKER_02: And you want to tell somebody that knows what the heck they're doing.
- 1:00:31SPEAKER_02: You want to tell someone who's listening to this podcast.
- 1:00:34SPEAKER_02: It's not your partner's job, folks, to hear your dump.
- 1:00:37SPEAKER_02: It's not.
- 1:00:38SPEAKER_02: Your partner gets your the overflow, not your partner.
- 1:00:43SPEAKER_02: Your, if a man's listening here, it's not your wife.
- 1:00:46SPEAKER_02: And ma'am, your husband's job not to listen to your first step.
- 1:00:50SPEAKER_02: No, that's why you find a fellow traveler, as my one friend Jacqueline calls him, or somebody else on this podcast, and you tell somebody else your voices.
- 1:01:00SPEAKER_02: Why?
- 1:01:00SPEAKER_02: Because it gets them out of your head.
- 1:01:03SPEAKER_02: And literally, in the action step, in the act of telling somebody else, you're identifying two parts of you: the part doing the telling and the part that's being told about.
- 1:01:18SPEAKER_02: The part sharing is a grander you.
- 1:01:21SPEAKER_02: The part that is being shared about is the hurt you, is the glass empty you.
- 1:01:27SPEAKER_02: And I'm telling you, the more you do it, the more you do it, the more you leave space for more of an all-inclusive voice.
- 1:01:36SPEAKER_02: The voice you're going to hear in silence, that soft spoken voice you're going to hear when you're in silence more.
- 1:01:42SPEAKER_02: You will.
- 1:01:42SPEAKER_02: You'll hear it more.
- 1:01:43SPEAKER_02: And you want to be guided by the softer voice, because when you're guided by that softer voice is going to guide you from a place of inclusion.
- 1:01:53SPEAKER_02: It's going to guide you in a place of all possibility.
- 1:01:57SPEAKER_02: It's going to guide you from a place of the all, from love, from support of all possibility.
- 1:02:03SPEAKER_02: When all possibility is the possibility, you're living literally from a glassful you.
- 1:02:09SPEAKER_02: And if you understand that the world outside you is a reflection of you, not the source of you, the reflection of you.
- 1:02:18SPEAKER_02: So the fuller you become inside, the fuller your external world has to become.
- 1:02:26SPEAKER_02: So why do you want to do it from that perspective?
- 1:02:28SPEAKER_02: Why do you want to do all this?
- 1:02:31SPEAKER_02: To heal, to grow, to shift, to change, to yes, and the more you live from a grander you, the more you create a grander external you.
- 1:02:42SPEAKER_02: And that's where life is really a beautiful thing.
- 1:02:47SPEAKER_02: So I want to close with my last story.
- 1:02:51SPEAKER_02: And it's one that it's just it makes it all worth it, you know?
- 1:02:59SPEAKER_02: It just makes it all worth it.
- 1:03:01SPEAKER_02: True purpose, true living as the highest you, true living, the why we have to surrender the old behaviors.
- 1:03:11SPEAKER_02: The why I I say to people, I this on this particular interview, I asked, I listened to the guy asked the other guy, you make amends to your kids, and he shared.
- 1:03:23SPEAKER_02: And I thought, wow, I never had to make amends to my kids.
- 1:03:26SPEAKER_02: I was sober 10 years before I had kids.
- 1:03:28SPEAKER_02: So what a blessing, right?
- 1:03:31SPEAKER_02: But the purpose, the whole idea of chasing success outside, it's there's nothing wrong with it, folks.
- 1:03:43SPEAKER_02: Make as much money as you want, have a wonderful external world.
- 1:03:48SPEAKER_02: And while you're doing that, make sure, though, you hear your voices so that you can heal the reason they're there.
- 1:03:58SPEAKER_02: And then when you heal the reason you're there, you start expanding into a grander you and living it.
- 1:04:04SPEAKER_02: And as you're living the grander you, you're living your purpose.
- 1:04:09SPEAKER_02: But how do you live the purpose?
- 1:04:11SPEAKER_02: How do you why were you born?
- 1:04:14SPEAKER_02: You were born to become a grander you.
- 1:04:17SPEAKER_02: And I'm telling you right now, the grandest you does not need alcohol while it's watching football.
- 1:04:26SPEAKER_02: The grandest you does not need to yell at your partner every time they did something you don't like.
- 1:04:31SPEAKER_02: The grandest you doesn't need to smoke marijuana just because it's legal now.
- 1:04:37SPEAKER_02: The grandest you is a part of you that is connected to all that is, and the glory you feel as a consequence of living all is the reward.
- 1:04:50SPEAKER_02: And for me, I was talking to my youngest son.
- 1:04:55SPEAKER_02: I have two boys for most of you, for new people.
- 1:04:58SPEAKER_02: My oldest son is an elite athlete.
- 1:05:00SPEAKER_02: He's 19 years old in his freshman year of college.
- 1:05:04SPEAKER_02: My youngest son is 15 years old.
- 1:05:07SPEAKER_02: He's an absolute modern-day Mozart.
- 1:05:09SPEAKER_02: He's teaching himself how to day trade multiple languages.
- 1:05:13SPEAKER_02: I go on and on.
- 1:05:14SPEAKER_02: My kids are gifted.
- 1:05:16SPEAKER_02: And they were raised by a guy who knows how to consciously raise them.
- 1:05:20SPEAKER_02: They were taught their entire life, their gifts are inside, their gifts are of God.
- 1:05:25SPEAKER_02: And God wants you to be as successful as you can possibly be.
- 1:05:29SPEAKER_02: And as the more successful you become, as long as you give a little bit back to the world, you'll have a wonderful life.
- 1:05:36SPEAKER_02: And both of my kids, I can tell you, because of my sobriety, everything I learned here, everything I'm sharing here, my boys have been taught they lived in their entire lives.
- 1:05:49SPEAKER_02: And all of it was possible because of sobriety.
- 1:05:52SPEAKER_02: Let me put it another way none of it would have been possible if I'd still have been drinking or drugging.
- 1:05:56SPEAKER_02: Actually, I'd be dead, period.
- 1:05:58SPEAKER_02: I would be.
- 1:05:59SPEAKER_02: But So here we are, right?
- 1:06:02SPEAKER_02: And I was talking to my youngest son, and he said something.
- 1:06:08SPEAKER_02: And he said, Yeah, he said, you know, Joseph goes out on out on these Friday nights, and he doesn't really like those things, but he's the driver.
- 1:06:19SPEAKER_02: And I didn't think much about it at the time.
- 1:06:23SPEAKER_02: He's the driver.
- 1:06:25SPEAKER_02: And I thought just tonight, as after I was, after I listened to this dads in recovery thing, right?
- 1:06:31SPEAKER_02: And I talk about it all the time generation of change.
- 1:06:34SPEAKER_02: We folks, we're the generation of change.
- 1:06:36SPEAKER_02: Who truly benefits from our change?
- 1:06:39SPEAKER_02: It's the next generation.
- 1:06:41SPEAKER_02: And I'm sitting there, and that's why I had to get on this podcast right now and share.
- 1:06:46SPEAKER_02: My heart just was so full, exploded, like literally.
- 1:06:52SPEAKER_02: I thought about it.
- 1:06:53SPEAKER_02: And because of my spiritual path, because of my going through the darkness, because of my work in sobriety, because of my giving back and marrying, I didn't marry, get married until I was 40.
- 1:07:06SPEAKER_02: I had my first child at 44, my second at 49, and single dad all these years, still single now.
- 1:07:14SPEAKER_02: And I remember thinking way back when about the whole alcohol thing.
- 1:07:18SPEAKER_02: My kids aren't exposed to alcohol.
- 1:07:20SPEAKER_02: There's it's not around.
- 1:07:22SPEAKER_02: I mean, they see it, they know it, but it's not around.
- 1:07:25SPEAKER_02: And my oldest son, when I say elite athlete, remember the name Mittig.
- 1:07:31SPEAKER_02: Remember on the, you know, the 2029 draft, you'll see his name.
- 1:07:35SPEAKER_02: It's my kid.
- 1:07:36SPEAKER_02: He's that kind of bizarrely gifted, and he has been his whole life.
- 1:07:41SPEAKER_02: He works super hard, but he's gifted.
- 1:07:44SPEAKER_02: So he's in that athlete world, he's in that big personality, everything big, working out all the time, the whole thing.
- 1:07:55SPEAKER_02: The exact world I lived in, not an elite athlete, but the bigness was the same.
- 1:08:01SPEAKER_02: And when I realized that my son Joseph, because of my changes, he grew up in an environment that I didn't grow up in.
- 1:08:14SPEAKER_02: Because of my change, because of my growth, because of my awakenings and my awareness.
- 1:08:21SPEAKER_02: My son grew up in a different world.
- 1:08:24SPEAKER_02: He was told his whole life that I'm proud of him.
- 1:08:27SPEAKER_02: He was told his whole life by his mother and me both that we love him.
- 1:08:30SPEAKER_02: He was told his whole life he could do everything he wants.
- 1:08:33SPEAKER_02: And now he's literally living it.
- 1:08:35SPEAKER_02: I got none of that when I was a kid.
- 1:08:38SPEAKER_02: I taught myself, I gave it to myself, and I've been giving it to my sons and have been, and they're amazing humans.
- 1:08:45SPEAKER_02: Well, tonight, when I realized that at 19 years old, he'll be 20 here in a couple months.
- 1:08:53SPEAKER_02: Well, my son is the driver, not the drinker.
- 1:08:57SPEAKER_02: It just like filled me to a place I can't explain.
- 1:09:02SPEAKER_02: Try to put a price tag on that, folks.
- 1:09:04SPEAKER_02: Try.
- 1:09:06SPEAKER_02: The whole chasing of success outside is price tag oriented.
- 1:09:10SPEAKER_02: The whole truly living from a place of meaning is priceless.
- 1:09:17SPEAKER_02: My son Joseph is the driver, not the drinker.
- 1:09:21SPEAKER_02: I was the drinker.
- 1:09:23SPEAKER_02: And because of me living the generation of change, he's not.
- 1:09:31SPEAKER_02: The price you put on that is priceless.
- 1:09:37SPEAKER_02: The price I had to go through was brutal.
- 1:09:42SPEAKER_02: That's why I empathize with all of you here.
- 1:09:44SPEAKER_02: I know you're going through hard times.
- 1:09:47SPEAKER_02: I know you're going through challenging times.
- 1:09:49SPEAKER_02: Please let my voice keep you company.
- 1:09:52SPEAKER_02: I've been there.
- 1:09:53SPEAKER_02: I have.
- 1:09:54SPEAKER_02: I've been there in the darkest of darks.
- 1:09:57SPEAKER_02: I've been there with memories of abuse.
- 1:09:59SPEAKER_02: I've been there all alone.
- 1:10:01SPEAKER_02: I have.
- 1:10:02SPEAKER_02: I've also been on this side, where the reward and the glory of the reward is past what words can, past what words can truly describe.
- 1:10:15SPEAKER_02: And I had that experience tonight.
- 1:10:18SPEAKER_02: My oldest son is the driver, not the drinker.
- 1:10:22SPEAKER_02: And that is just the consequence of living has a higher purpose, truly.
- 1:10:30SPEAKER_02: And we can all do it.
- 1:10:32SPEAKER_02: I applaud Mr.
- 1:10:34SPEAKER_02: Cliff and Mr.
- 1:10:35SPEAKER_02: Brandon for Dad's in recovery.
- 1:10:38SPEAKER_02: My plan is to tell a half a million people about that.
- 1:10:41SPEAKER_02: I hope you go and listen.
- 1:10:43SPEAKER_02: You'll like it, especially if you're a dad, especially if you're confused, especially why?
- 1:10:49SPEAKER_02: Because you don't have to hit some massive hardcore lose everything to stop drinking on Sunday afternoons.
- 1:10:56SPEAKER_02: You don't have to.
- 1:10:57SPEAKER_02: And putting a substance in your body is not making your life get any better.
- 1:11:02SPEAKER_02: It's not.
- 1:11:03SPEAKER_02: I applaud these men and others like them.
- 1:11:05SPEAKER_02: You're going through challenge and outgrowing your partner and you're in divorce, go to divorce post.
- 1:11:10SPEAKER_02: Let these people help you.
- 1:11:11SPEAKER_02: They will.
- 1:11:12SPEAKER_02: My plan is to have more.
- 1:11:14SPEAKER_02: When I can truly feel and sense that a higher power is living through another human, you're going to hear it right here from me because I'm not the only one.
- 1:11:25SPEAKER_02: I used to think I was years ago.
- 1:11:28SPEAKER_02: 20, 2022, September 22nd, 2022.
- 1:11:32SPEAKER_02: I heard a woman conscious.
- 1:11:36SPEAKER_02: My old voice came up.
- 1:11:38SPEAKER_02: You didn't fail your marriage.
- 1:11:40SPEAKER_02: You chose to live your divinity versus your spirituality, your divinity versus your humanity.
- 1:11:47SPEAKER_02: And my entire path woke back up.
- 1:11:49SPEAKER_02: It's four years ago now.
- 1:11:50SPEAKER_02: And we are all on a path.
- 1:11:54SPEAKER_02: We're all growing.
- 1:11:55SPEAKER_02: We're all shifting.
- 1:11:56SPEAKER_02: We're all embracing the depths of deeper stuff and expanding to heights we didn't even know existed.
- 1:12:04SPEAKER_02: And because of it, we're changing the world.
- 1:12:07SPEAKER_02: Literally.
- 1:12:08SPEAKER_02: We truly are.
- 1:12:10SPEAKER_02: And together we're doing it.
- 1:12:12SPEAKER_02: Together we're changing.
- 1:12:14SPEAKER_02: Together we're healing.
- 1:12:16SPEAKER_02: And together we're literally making a difference.
- 1:12:19SPEAKER_02: One smile at a time.
- 1:12:22SPEAKER_02: And from around the world, I truly want to welcome you to We.
