- 0:23Speaker 4: Repeat, this is not the drill. At this time, we are.
- 0:27Speaker 5: Requesting the immediate and orderly evacuation of the vicinity.
- 0:36Speaker 6: The Coast Guard and the Navy have been alerted and

- 0:41Speaker 7: And it continues to burn out of control.
- 0:43Speaker 8: It has been regular.
- 0:44Speaker 9: Every five to ten minutes, there has been another convoy
- 0:47Speaker 9: of units, fire companies, paramedics... A citywide emergency has been declared.
- 0:52Speaker 10: Police officers are still on tactical full alert.
- 0:56Speaker 11: 2,000 National Guardsmen are standing by.

- 1:06Speaker 12: of the Killers soundtrack.
- 1:08Speaker 13: Live transmission has begun, and we're into the final.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Hour of hell.
- 1:32Speaker 14: What's up and welcome to Movie Meltdown's Attack of the
- 1:35Speaker 14: Killers soundtrack. I am Brian and with me here is.
- 1:38Speaker 15: Madeline.
- 1:39Speaker 16: And where are we, Madeline?
- 1:40Speaker 15: We're at Westfest at the New Vintage.
- 1:43Speaker 14: We are coming to you live via digital recording from
- 1:46Speaker 14: the New Vintage. And we are, in fact, you're right,
- 1:49Speaker 14: in the middle of Westfest.
- 1:51Speaker 16: So how have you found yourself here?
- 1:54Speaker 15: It's my birthday, and.
- 1:58Speaker 17: My friend Lacey is coming to support her bandmate Mary Liz,
- 2:01Speaker 17: who's playing in the fervor tonight.
- 2:03Speaker 16: And what was your first Wes Anderson movie?
- 2:07Speaker 15: It was Royal Tenenbaums. Yes, it was.
- 2:12Speaker 6: Secretly, when I wasn't supposed to be watching it from
- 2:14Speaker 6: the other room while my parents were watching it.
- 2:16Speaker 16: Still not sure you're allowed to watch it, really.
- 2:19Speaker 15: Probably not.
- 2:21Speaker 14: All right, well, we're going to get a good feel
- 2:24Speaker 14: for this whole event. As I put together this little
- 2:27Speaker 14: spinoff show, this is kind of like the perfect place
- 2:30Speaker 14: to set it because it's all about music and movies
- 2:34Speaker 14: and how they sort of meld together into one big mess,
- 2:37Speaker 14: and Wes Anderson seems to do that exceptionally well. So
- 2:40Speaker 14: I think that's going to be the focus of this episode.
- 2:44Speaker 16: And we're going to go find the creator... So let's
- 2:47Speaker 16: go talk to Heather.
- 2:49Speaker 18: All right, so we're here with.
- 2:55Speaker 14: The creator of West Fest, I guess, give them your
- 3:17Speaker 14: name and how this all came to be.
- 3:19Speaker 10: All right, my name is Heather Yenowin and I own
- 3:21Speaker 10: a company called Hey DJ. And this isn't my first
- 3:24Speaker 10: foray into theme parties. I have done two Quentin Tarantino
- 3:27Speaker 10: parties before and a New York 77 party. And this
- 3:31Speaker 10: has been a dream for a long time. I found
- 3:33Speaker 10: a collaborator named Stephanie Lindsay, who's a designer actually of
- 3:37Speaker 10: the Bourbon Lodge at Fourcastle. And she wanted to do
- 3:41Speaker 10: a West Fest party too, a Wes Anderson party.
- 3:43Speaker 7: So.
- 3:44Speaker 10: We decided to combine our love and talent for throwing
- 3:47Speaker 10: events and raise some money for a really worthy cause,
- 3:51Speaker 10: which is the Fair Event Vendors Alliance, a new nonprofit
- 3:54Speaker 10: that we're also both working on.
- 3:56Speaker 14: Do we want to go into more on that or
- 3:58Speaker 14: give at least the info on that if people want
- 4:00Speaker 14: to find out about it?
- 4:01Speaker 10: Yeah, it's an upcoming nonprofit that we're forming now, and
- 4:05Speaker 10: it's designed to connect the LGBT community with wedding and
- 4:09Speaker 10: event vendors who stand for fairness and equality. so that
- 4:13Speaker 10: they don't have to go through the arduous process of
- 4:15Speaker 10: trying to vet vendors and see their comfort levels. And also,
- 4:19Speaker 10: just on a citywide level, it's a way to reinvest
- 4:22Speaker 10: in Louisville and support the community and keep valuable wedding
- 4:26Speaker 10: business here in our local city.
- 4:29Speaker 16: Do you have the site up and running yet?
- 4:31Speaker 1: Well, the site's up.
- 4:32Speaker 10: It's fairvendors.org, but more is coming. It's just an introduction
- 4:36Speaker 10: page at this point, but we're in development, and we
- 4:39Speaker 10: have a lot of top-notch wedding vendors ready to get involved.
- 4:43Speaker 12: Very cool.
- 4:44Speaker 14: And then I guess this project here, is this part
- 4:47Speaker 14: of your ongoing thing? Do you want to tell people
- 4:49Speaker 14: where to find you as far as like how to
- 4:51Speaker 14: see what you've got going on in the future?
- 4:54Speaker 10: Well, right now, West Fest has been my biggest focus
- 4:57Speaker 10: and then I'll be back in wedding season. But, you know,
- 5:00Speaker 10: that's what I do most of the time. But I
- 5:02Speaker 10: think that you can definitely see more parties coming as
- 5:07Speaker 10: I have a reason to throw them again, you know,
- 5:09Speaker 10: which is Viva.
- 5:10Speaker 1: So, yeah.
- 5:12Speaker 10: You know, theme parties. We've got a John Waters party
- 5:14Speaker 10: we've been thinking about for a few years.
- 5:16Speaker 16: I'm all for that one.
- 5:17Speaker 10: Yeah, and I think that might tie in really well
- 5:19Speaker 10: with it being an LGBT cause and kind of celebrate that.
- 5:24Speaker 10: For now, though, we just thought, man, Wes Anderson has
- 5:27Speaker 10: got such a cool vibe to it. The music's so
- 5:29Speaker 10: great and the decor is so amazing that we wanted
- 5:32Speaker 10: to kind of create a special moment. We're going to
- 5:33Speaker 10: be covering such a range with the Velvet Underground, Francois Hardy,
- 5:37Speaker 10: David Bowie, the Kinks. It's going to be a very dynamic,
- 5:40Speaker 10: textured evening of music.
- 5:42Speaker 16: All right, well, then let's get into the music.
- 5:44Speaker 10: All right, let's have a party.
- 5:48Speaker 19: How you guys doing tonight?
- 5:58Speaker 3: In the middle of the night.
- 6:04Speaker 20: In the middle of the night I call your name.
- 6:12Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, I'll go. Oh, yeah, I'll go. My life
- 6:23Speaker 2: will turn you on.
- 6:30Speaker 16: In the middle of the bath.
- 6:32Speaker 21: In the middle of the bath, I'll call your name.
- 6:48Speaker 22: Yeah, oh, yeah.
- 6:52Speaker 1: My love.
- 7:19Speaker 9: In the middle of a shade.
- 7:25Speaker 22: In the middle of.
- 7:26Speaker 23: A shade I'll call your name.
- 7:31Speaker 19: Oh, Yoko Oh.
- 7:37Speaker 2: Yoko My love.
- 7:43Speaker 22: Will turn you.
- 7:47Speaker 16: On In the middle of a dream.
- 7:53Speaker 4: In the middle of a dream I'll call your name.
- 8:03Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, I'll call Oh, yeah, I'll call My love
- 8:14Speaker 2: will turn you.
- 8:16Speaker 1: On In the middle of a cloud.
- 9:03Speaker 24: In the middle of a cloud I call your name.
- 9:09Speaker 2: Oh, Yoko.
- 9:15Speaker 3: Oh, Yoko.
- 9:42Speaker 23: Thank you guys very much.
- 9:57Speaker 3: Great to be here tonight.
- 9:58Speaker 14: All right, so we kick things off. there with Oyoko
- 10:01Speaker 14: from The Quiet Hollers, as originally featured in Wes's film Rushmore.
- 10:05Speaker 16: And I thought maybe we should learn a little bit
- 10:07Speaker 16: about the music.
- 10:07Speaker 14: And musicians involved in tonight's festival. So now, let's go
- 10:11Speaker 14: talk to Sarah. All right, so we're here with Sarah
- 10:15Speaker 14: from the fabulous Ladybirds. So, yeah, I guess first tell
- 10:20Speaker 14: them who you are, other than that, if you'd like,
- 10:22Speaker 14: or go ahead and plug the band, because you guys
- 10:23Speaker 14: are awesome.
- 10:24Speaker 25: Cool.
- 10:24Speaker 26: Oh, thank you. I'm so many things. No, I'm just kidding.
- 10:27Speaker 27: So my name is Sarah Teeple, and I sing in
- 10:30Speaker 27: a band called the Ladybirds with my fabulous husband, Jackson Swain,
- 10:34Speaker 27: and three other awesome dudes, Max Balliet, Anthony Fossiluza, and
- 10:38Speaker 27: Brett Holsclaw. And so we do that and love that.
- 10:43Speaker 27: But here tonight at West Fest, I'm here in the
- 10:45Speaker 27: capacity of of music curator and coordinator, along with the
- 10:50Speaker 27: awesome Heather Yenowen, who also was definitely major coordinator of
- 10:55Speaker 27: all and everything.
- 10:56Speaker 26: So, yeah.
- 10:58Speaker 3: All right.
- 10:59Speaker 14: I guess, how did you get roped into this craziness?
- 11:02Speaker 27: How'd they convince me to do this? Um, well, I've
- 11:05Speaker 27: worked many times with, uh, both Heather and Sydney, who
- 11:09Speaker 27: I think are two of the most awesome event producers
- 11:12Speaker 27: in this town. Um, both just like super talented go-getter ladies.
- 11:16Speaker 27: Like if they're doing an event here in Louisville, you know,
- 11:19Speaker 27: it's going to be just like, uh, total the, the
- 11:22Speaker 27: full shebang. They spare no creative energy and, um, you know, just,
- 11:27Speaker 27: they're always really great. Um, the Ladybirds have done a
- 11:29Speaker 27: couple of their events, uh, A Quentin Tarantino-themed one some
- 11:32Speaker 27: years back at Glassworks called Killville. And then one at
- 11:36Speaker 27: the Vernon, maybe about four years back, called New York 77.
- 11:39Speaker 27: So I know how capable and great these ladies are.
- 11:43Speaker 27: So glad to be a part of it again this year.
- 11:44Speaker 14: And you are officially or unofficially the music coordinator?
- 11:49Speaker 26: I would say semi-officially.
- 11:53Speaker 27: And I say that just because, well, that was the
- 11:55Speaker 27: title that I was given and that was, I was
- 11:57Speaker 27: asked to be part of this in that capacity. But
- 12:00Speaker 27: then Heather has just done so much that I don't
- 12:04Speaker 27: feel like I can claim that title totally for myself.
- 12:08Speaker 16: Don't argue with Heather.
- 12:11Speaker 27: Yeah, well, and don't argue with the fact that like
- 12:13Speaker 27: she's like multitasker extraordinaire and just like, does everything I'm
- 12:17Speaker 27: like oh let me help with that and she's like
- 12:19Speaker 27: oh I already I already took care of that like
- 12:21Speaker 27: whoa all right mama not gonna argue.
- 12:23Speaker 14: I find that annoying as someone who's usually working on
- 12:26Speaker 14: 12 things at once and can't get any of them
- 12:28Speaker 14: done that's really the people that are that skilled at
- 12:30Speaker 14: that are kind of they get under your skin don't
- 12:32Speaker 14: they you're.
- 12:32Speaker 27: Like you're like your type a personality is more powerful
- 12:36Speaker 27: than my type a personality and then it's like a
- 12:38Speaker 27: duel maybe.
- 12:39Speaker 14: I don't know if I'm type a I'm just I
- 12:41Speaker 14: like controlling things that's egomaniacal anyway that's a whole nother
- 12:45Speaker 14: thing But I guess, do you want to tell people
- 12:49Speaker 14: about the bands that we have brought in on this
- 12:51Speaker 14: little event?
- 12:52Speaker 26: Absolutely.
- 12:53Speaker 27: Well, we wanted to, because the music in these films
- 12:56Speaker 27: is so diverse and so varied and all so phenomenal,
- 13:01Speaker 27: we wanted to bring in a bunch of different types
- 13:03Speaker 27: of Louisville bands, as well as some soloists, because the
- 13:07Speaker 27: dynamics is very diverse. it's a wide range of, you know,
- 13:11Speaker 27: like intensity.
- 13:12Speaker 26: So we think we've, we've tried to reflect all of that.
- 13:16Speaker 27: We were really excited to get the Quiet Hollers who
- 13:18Speaker 27: are going to start off with the night, you know, their,
- 13:21Speaker 27: their brand of like kind of dirty Americana, you know,
- 13:25Speaker 27: they're all like these awesome Magbar punk.
- 13:27Speaker 26: Rockers and they're so great.
- 13:29Speaker 27: And, you know, so to hear them do like songs
- 13:32Speaker 27: like Oh Yoko, you know, I feel like they, um,
- 13:35Speaker 27: They're more along the lines of the Hank Williams, but
- 13:38Speaker 27: I feel like they've really gone out on a limb
- 13:40Speaker 27: and gone out of their comfort zone, and it's sounding
- 13:43Speaker 27: awesome so far, so I can't.
- 13:44Speaker 26: Wait to hear what they do live.
- 13:46Speaker 27: I was super pumped to hear that they were doing
- 13:48Speaker 27: the Proclaimers Over and Done With song. I feel like
- 13:51Speaker 27: that's really in the vein of what they're They're into,
- 13:54Speaker 27: and it's just such a good song. So excited to
- 13:56Speaker 27: see how that one gets pulled off. Other than that,
- 13:59Speaker 27: I guess I could go band by band. I'm very
- 14:02Speaker 27: excited to see the Jolly Hammurabi dudes because their set
- 14:05Speaker 27: list is awesome and because I've never seen them before.
- 14:08Speaker 27: We just heard about them through some other great Louisville musicians,
- 14:11Speaker 27: and they're young guys, a lot of energy, and we're
- 14:15Speaker 27: excited to see what they pull off.
- 14:17Speaker 26: The Fervor is one of my favorite Louisville bands.
- 14:21Speaker 27: And I'm not just being biased because they also have
- 14:24Speaker 27: a female lead singer like the Ladybirds. But Natalie and
- 14:28Speaker 27: Ben Felker, Matt Heron, Mary Liz Brannon, they're just like
- 14:33Speaker 27: totally awesome and so good and haven't played.
- 14:35Speaker 26: Out too, too much lately. So it's great that they
- 14:38Speaker 26: could do this.
- 14:40Speaker 27: I'm really excited to hear their their Nico and Velvet
- 14:43Speaker 27: Underground like they're as far as the vibe of their
- 14:46Speaker 27: set is just.
- 14:48Speaker 26: So good. And I can't wait to hear that.
- 14:50Speaker 27: And then obviously we got the lovely Dane Waters doing
- 14:55Speaker 27: Francoise Hardy and Stones playing with fire. And she is
- 14:59Speaker 27: just like the muse of a lifetime, like gorgeous woman.
- 15:04Speaker 27: Hearing her sing in French is like, you know, just hot.
- 15:07Speaker 27: No matter who you are, you're going to fall in
- 15:09Speaker 27: love with this lady.
- 15:10Speaker 16: You can't fight it.
- 15:11Speaker 26: I know you can't.
- 15:13Speaker 27: And so then we're closing the night. with The Pass,
- 15:16Speaker 27: who are playing under the name Hinkley Cold Storage. And
- 15:20Speaker 27: so they're going to be awesome, and they really are
- 15:22Speaker 27: going out of their comfort zone, too. You know, like, these, like,
- 15:24Speaker 27: electronic dance music dudes. I mean, they're, you know, they
- 15:27Speaker 27: got guitar, and they're rockers as well. But their set
- 15:31Speaker 27: list is really, like, kind of surprising for them. And
- 15:34Speaker 27: they are really busy this season with just a bunch
- 15:37Speaker 27: of shows, traveling around. So the fact that they made
- 15:40Speaker 27: this a priority is pretty banging.
- 15:43Speaker 7: Mm-hmm.
- 15:44Speaker 14: So again, now having coordinated some events, not quite of
- 15:47Speaker 14: this caliber, but I started doing the math on all this.
- 15:51Speaker 14: I'm like, okay, so how much of an undertaking was
- 15:54Speaker 14: it to put the set list together so that everybody's
- 15:57Speaker 14: not trying to cover the same songs and you're figuring
- 15:59Speaker 14: out what works with what band?
- 16:01Speaker 26: Totally. That is a really good question.
- 16:03Speaker 27: And that is one thing that Heather and I discussed
- 16:06Speaker 27: at length. like when we were choosing the bands and
- 16:09Speaker 27: just kind of setting up the entire thing. And, you know,
- 16:13Speaker 27: with a little bit of guidance from us, the bands
- 16:18Speaker 27: like could actually really choose their own stuff, you know,
- 16:21Speaker 27: like with a little bit of direction, everyone could really
- 16:23Speaker 27: choose their own songs that they were into. And no one,
- 16:26Speaker 27: you know, there was no like hair pulling or fist fights.
- 16:30Speaker 27: And everyone, I think, was really cool with the songs
- 16:32Speaker 27: that they got to play. But yeah, I mean, just
- 16:34Speaker 27: knowing these soundtracks. It's like you could see how two
- 16:38Speaker 27: different bands could easily be vying over the same song.
- 16:41Speaker 26: But surprisingly, that was very civil. It was totally cool.
- 16:45Speaker 14: Until later when you realize you really wanted to do something,
- 16:48Speaker 14: you're going to shove somebody out of the way and
- 16:49Speaker 14: get up there, aren't you?
- 16:50Speaker 26: Absolutely, yeah.
- 16:51Speaker 27: I mean, the night is young, and, you know, there's
- 16:54Speaker 27: still plenty of band beer to be drank, and, you know,
- 16:57Speaker 27: you never know. But I think, I'm keeping my fingers crossed,
- 17:00Speaker 27: I think it's going to be all good.
- 17:01Speaker 16: We'll try to keep you under control.
- 17:04Speaker 12: Well, so far, Sarah's controlled herself.
- 17:06Speaker 14: But I thought at this point we would go ahead
- 17:08Speaker 14: and listen to another song, what I feel is one
- 17:10Speaker 14: of the more impressive covers of the evening. It was
- 17:12Speaker 14: originally featured in the Royal Tenenbaums, and you'll probably recognize
- 17:16Speaker 14: the song, but I feel like the way that they
- 17:18Speaker 14: do it is original and kind of has their own
- 17:21Speaker 14: flair to it. So this is the previously mentioned The Pass, a.k.a.
- 17:24Speaker 14: Inkley Cold Storage.
- 17:26Speaker 3: This one's a sing-along. Sing if you know the words.
- 17:33Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 17:54Speaker 25: Mama put John to roll out of bed, ran to
- 17:57Speaker 25: the police station. Papa found out, he began to shout
- 18:04Speaker 25: and started the investigation.
- 18:07Speaker 3: It was against the law. It was against the law.
- 18:12Speaker 3: When my mama saw, it was.
- 18:15Speaker 22: Against the law. I'm on my way.
- 18:21Speaker 3: I don't know where I'm going.
- 18:38Speaker 2: I'm taking the time to turn around Goodbye Rosie Queen
- 18:45Speaker 2: of Corona You need Julio down by the school yard.
- 18:55Speaker 28: You need Julio down by.
- 18:57Speaker 22: The school yard guitar solo Thank you.
- 19:30Speaker 25: Oh, it was a couple of days, now take me away,
- 19:33Speaker 25: but the press let the story leak.
- 19:37Speaker 3: Little radical priest, when we.
- 19:39Speaker 7: Came to release, he was all on the cover of Newsweek. Well,
- 19:44Speaker 7: I'm on my way, I don't know where I'm going.
- 19:48Speaker 22: I'm on my way.
- 19:50Speaker 23: My way.
- 19:52Speaker 25: I'm taking my time but I don't know where Goodbye Rosie,
- 19:57Speaker 25: you created Corona.
- 19:59Speaker 2: You made Julio town by the school yard.
- 20:07Speaker 7: You meet Julio down by the schoolyard. You meet Julio
- 20:13Speaker 7: down by the schoolyard.
- 20:18Speaker 25: You meet Julio down by the schoolyard.
- 20:27Speaker 22: Alright, thank you.

- 21:36Speaker 1: We was hitchhiking down a long and lonesome road.

- 22:11Speaker 3: Shined a shiny demon in the middle of the road.
- 22:17Speaker 3: And he said.
- 22:18Speaker 30: Hey, this is KG of Tenacious D, and you're listening
- 22:21Speaker 30: to Movie Meltdown with Brian.
- 22:25Speaker 22: Oh, yeah.
- 22:44Speaker 12: It's time for the Killer Five.
- 22:51Speaker 14: So I guess we will usually throw out the Killer
- 22:54Speaker 14: Five and let somebody pick their five favorite songs or
- 22:57Speaker 14: songs that had some sort of meaning to them. And
- 23:00Speaker 14: this being the West-themed event, I thought we'll do a
- 23:03Speaker 14: West-themed songs from his movies.
- 23:06Speaker 16: So I guess, where would you like to go? You
- 23:08Speaker 16: can do it in however order you.
- 23:09Speaker 14: Want, but I guess give us a little reason as
- 23:11Speaker 14: to why for each song.
- 23:13Speaker 5: Awesome.
- 23:14Speaker 26: Well, I love this question and I will answer it.
- 23:18Speaker 27: So there are so many just phenomenal songs that we're
- 23:24Speaker 27: going to hear tonight. And, you know, Wes Anderson, I mean,
- 23:27Speaker 27: I don't, I actually should know this, but I don't
- 23:29Speaker 27: know who the like music coordinator is for his movies.
- 23:33Speaker 27: I'm sure that he has a huge hand in it.
- 23:35Speaker 27: And I mean, it's, you know, it's unbeatable. You know,
- 23:38Speaker 27: he's got like really classic bands and some, you know, A-sides,
- 23:42Speaker 27: some Stones songs that you know, but then like some
- 23:45Speaker 27: really weird B-sides that you wouldn't think that are, you know,
- 23:48Speaker 27: very unexpected.
- 23:49Speaker 14: He's an eclectic guy. I mean, in his movies and
- 23:52Speaker 14: obviously in his soundtrack choices.
- 23:54Speaker 26: Totally, yes. Visually, sonically, you know, in every way you
- 23:59Speaker 26: can be weird. I think that he achieves it.
- 24:02Speaker 27: So just for me personally, with my band, personal favorite
- 24:06Speaker 27: style of music um my big five would be numero
- 24:10Speaker 27: uno is definitely search and destroy by iggy and the
- 24:14Speaker 27: stooges um just because iggy and the stooges are amazing
- 24:18Speaker 27: you know that like just dirty grungy garage protopunk is
- 24:22Speaker 27: just kind of unbeatable you know.
- 24:24Speaker 14: It is one of those somebody brought up late because
- 24:26Speaker 14: we were discussing something about like early early punk and
- 24:29Speaker 14: it was like they mentioned the date on some of
- 24:31Speaker 14: the iggy stuff and how.
- 24:33Speaker 16: Ahead of their time they were like it was amazing Absolutely.
- 24:37Speaker 29: Yeah.
- 24:37Speaker 26: You hear it and think like, wow, maybe like mid
- 24:40Speaker 26: 70s or who even knows?
- 24:42Speaker 27: Who knows what you would think? It could be even
- 24:44Speaker 27: way more contemporary than that. But then, you know, when
- 24:46Speaker 27: you hear like mid and late 60s, it's like just insane.
- 24:51Speaker 27: You just wouldn't think that. But so anyway, Iggy and
- 24:54Speaker 27: the Stooges are the bomb. So I'm really excited to
- 24:57Speaker 27: hear the fervor finish their set with the old Search
- 24:59Speaker 27: and Destroy.
- 25:13Speaker 31: I'm a street-walking cheetah with a heart full of napalm.
- 25:27Speaker 15: I'm the one-way sun of.
- 25:30Speaker 3: The nuclear era.
- 25:36Speaker 32: I am the world's forgotten boy, the one who searches
- 25:40Speaker 32: and destroys.
- 25:43Speaker 3: Honey, gotta help me to leave.
- 25:45Speaker 2: Somebody gotta save my girl.
- 25:48Speaker 15: Baby, better check my mind.
- 25:54Speaker 3: Who got honey, cookies, and technology?
- 26:01Speaker 32: Ain't got time to make no apologies Soul radiation in
- 26:08Speaker 32: the dead of night Love in the middle of a firefight.
- 26:13Speaker 2: Somebody gotta help me please Somebody gotta.
- 26:19Speaker 22: Save my soul Baby, penetrate my mind.
- 26:34Speaker 7: Hey! Hey!
- 27:04Speaker 3: I ain't got.
- 27:05Speaker 32: Time to make no apologies. Soul radiation in the.
- 27:17Speaker 23: Dead of night.
- 27:19Speaker 6: Love in the middle of a firefight.
- 27:24Speaker 5: Honey, God, help me please.
- 27:26Speaker 2: Somebody gotta save my soul.
- 27:29Speaker 13: Maybe penetrate my mind. The world's forgotten boy The one.
- 27:44Speaker 31: Who's searching to destroy The.
- 27:50Speaker 13: World's forgotten boy Searching, searching to destroy Forgotten boy Thank you.
- 28:30Speaker 26: So much.
- 28:31Speaker 27: To bring it to a little more mellow, feminine side,
- 28:34Speaker 27: I also adore Francoise Hardy. You know, 60s French pop
- 28:40Speaker 27: is just yummy and fun and so wonderful.
- 28:43Speaker 26: So I can't wait to hear Dane play.
- 28:45Speaker 27: Le Tome de l'Amour, and I might not be pronouncing
- 28:48Speaker 27: that right. Spanish is my second language, not French. So
- 28:53Speaker 27: that's going to be beautiful, and Dane always delivers.
- 28:56Speaker 16: Are there subtitles on this?
- 28:58Speaker 15: I know, yeah.
- 28:58Speaker 27: I should be up there with the cards, like in
- 29:00Speaker 27: Subterranean Homesick Blues.
- 29:02Speaker 16: I only speak American.
- 29:04Speaker 26: American, that's right. That's my first language, obviously, ladies and gentlemen.
- 29:35Speaker 22: Sing it down tonight. It's the turn of.
- 29:37Speaker 8: The moon, the turn of the caravan, it's your adventure.
- 29:43Speaker 8: When you wake up, you don't think about anything else
- 29:48Speaker 8: but yourself.
- 29:51Speaker 6: Because the turn of the moon is so long and so.
- 29:54Speaker 2: Short, it's always hard to be sensual.
- 30:02Speaker 23: On se dit qu' à 20.
- 30:04Speaker 17: Ans, on a le bras du monde Et qu'il t'aime
- 30:11Speaker 17: à l'aimant, en or et dans nos yeux, tout.
- 30:16Speaker 22: Le siècle C'est le.
- 30:19Speaker 8: Temps de l'amour, le temps des copains et de l'aventure
- 30:25Speaker 8: When the sun goes down, I don't think about anything but.
- 30:31Speaker 23: The grace of the sun.
- 30:34Speaker 22: When the time of the night is.
- 30:37Speaker 33: Long, it always turns into a memory.
- 30:42Speaker 8: One day, love is the only thing that can live.
- 30:52Speaker 8: I love you so much, I'm so happy to be
- 30:57Speaker 8: in love. Because the time of love is so long
- 31:02Speaker 8: and so short, it goes by so fast. Because the
- 31:07Speaker 8: time of love is so long and so short, it
- 31:11Speaker 8: lasts forever.
- 31:14Speaker 15: Thank you.
- 31:43Speaker 8: Much thanks for the favor.
- 31:48Speaker 27: Then to move on, I already kind of mentioned this,
- 31:50Speaker 27: but man, I'm so pumped to see the Quiet Hollers
- 31:52Speaker 27: play Over and Done With by the Proclaimers. I just
- 31:55Speaker 27: think that is like such a fun, feel-good song. I
- 31:59Speaker 27: love the way it kind of starts out nice and
- 32:01Speaker 27: slow and acoustic-y, then just kind of busts into it.
- 32:04Speaker 26: And it's just, it's triumphant, you know?
- 32:17Speaker 22: Thank you. Thank you.
- 32:40Speaker 19: This is the story of our first teacher Shetland made
- 32:44Speaker 19: her jumpers and the devil made her feature Threw.
- 32:47Speaker 23: Up her hands when my mum said her name.
- 32:51Speaker 25: And voided all her stories with slanderous claims.
- 32:55Speaker 5: It's over and done with, it's over and done with
- 32:58Speaker 5: It's over and done with, it's over and done with
- 33:02Speaker 5: It's over and done with.
- 33:03Speaker 22: It's over. It's over. It's over and done with. Let
- 33:07Speaker 22: me hear. Let me hear you, Nick Goldberg. It's over
- 33:11Speaker 22: and done with.
- 33:12Speaker 3: It's over and done with.
- 33:14Speaker 2: It's over and done with.
- 33:16Speaker 23: It's over and done with.
- 33:32Speaker 3: It's over and done with.
- 33:33Speaker 22: It's over. It's over.
- 33:35Speaker 23: It's over and done with. And I'm not saying these
- 33:42Speaker 23: events didn't touch our lives in any way, but.
- 33:49Speaker 1: I didn't make.
- 33:50Speaker 30: The impression that some people see.
- 33:53Speaker 25: And this is the story of watching a man die.
- 33:57Speaker 5: The subject's unpopular, but I don't feel like lying when
- 34:00Speaker 5: I think of it now.
- 34:02Speaker 23: I acted like a sinner.
- 34:04Speaker 5: I just washed my hands and I went for my dinner.
- 34:08Speaker 23: Mutton, mushy peas and a pint of Guinness.
- 34:13Speaker 22: It's over and done with.
- 34:15Speaker 3: It's over and done with.
- 34:17Speaker 22: It's over and done with.
- 34:18Speaker 3: It's over and done with.
- 34:20Speaker 22: It's over and done with. It's over and done with.
- 34:26Speaker 22: It's over and done with.
- 34:28Speaker 23: It's over, it's over, it's over and done with.
- 34:32Speaker 15: It's over, it's over, it's over and done with.
- 34:36Speaker 7: It's over, it's over, it's over and over and over
- 34:39Speaker 7: and over.
- 34:45Speaker 23: Thank you guys very much. We're Quiet Hollers.
- 34:48Speaker 15: We'll see you another time.
- 34:51Speaker 27: Judy is a Punk by the Ramones. That's going to
- 34:53Speaker 27: be performed by Jolly Hammurabi. That's going to be their
- 34:55Speaker 27: opening song. And they better deliver. I'm sure they will.
- 35:00Speaker 27: But you know, that song is just iconic and awesome.
- 35:03Speaker 27: And if that song doesn't make you feel good, then
- 35:05Speaker 27: you're probably a cold, dead.
- 35:07Speaker 26: Alien or something.
- 35:09Speaker 16: Might be the case.
- 35:10Speaker 10: You know.
- 35:10Speaker 16: I just like your threat. They better deliver.
- 35:13Speaker 26: Ooh, yeah.
- 35:14Speaker 1: That's right. It's a threat.
- 35:15Speaker 23: Are you guys ready for us to play?
- 35:16Speaker 10: No!
- 35:19Speaker 22: All right.
- 35:19Speaker 3: Well, we are Jolly Hammurabi. This is our first show ever.
- 35:24Speaker 23: So I am very, very stoked to be playing in.
- 35:26Speaker 3: Front of such an.
- 35:27Speaker 34: Eclectic group of people.
- 35:30Speaker 3: You guys are styling.
- 35:33Speaker 30: So, anyway.
- 35:34Speaker 2: Okay.
- 35:36Speaker 3: We love Wes Craven.
- 35:37Speaker 23: We're huge fans of the Scream movies.
- 35:41Speaker 16: So therefore, we're gonna go ahead and just.
- 35:47Speaker 22: Jackie in the pool, Judy in the room.
- 35:49Speaker 6: They're both independent and I'm the man.
- 35:56Speaker 3: Oh, I don't know why. Oh, I don't know why.
- 35:59Speaker 21: Perhaps he'll die.
- 36:01Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 36:02Speaker 15: Perhaps he'll die.
- 36:04Speaker 22: Oh, yeah.
- 36:06Speaker 15: Perhaps he'll.
- 36:10Speaker 10: Die.
- 36:11Speaker 7: Oh, yeah.
- 36:12Speaker 22: Perhaps he'll die.
- 36:14Speaker 15: Oh, yeah.
- 36:16Speaker 23: Oh, I don't know why.
- 36:18Speaker 19: Oh, I don't know why.
- 36:20Speaker 22: Perhaps he'll die.
- 36:30Speaker 2: Oh, I don't know why Oh, I.
- 36:36Speaker 19: Don't know why Oh, I don't know why I have
- 36:39Speaker 19: to die Oh yeah, I have to.
- 36:41Speaker 13: Die Oh yeah, I have to die Oh yeah, I
- 36:45Speaker 13: have to die Oh.
- 36:46Speaker 2: Yeah One, two, three, four!
- 36:51Speaker 22: Jackie is a pro!
- 36:53Speaker 14: Judy is a pro!
- 36:59Speaker 22: I'd plan our next trip.
- 37:01Speaker 27: And then, I guess, fifth, I would say I'm really
- 37:04Speaker 27: excited to hear Billy Pito play Rebel Rebel, the So
- 37:07Speaker 27: George version of the Bowie song. And, you know, really, though,
- 37:11Speaker 27: not just Rebel Rebel, all of these Bowie songs in Portuguese, acoustically,
- 37:17Speaker 27: by a blonde-haired white guy, you know, it's just, it's
- 37:21Speaker 27: going to be really fun. So I'm really excited to
- 37:23Speaker 27: hear that and hear what Billy does.
- 37:25Speaker 16: Very nice.
- 37:26Speaker 35: Do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do
- 37:37Speaker 35: .
- 38:00Speaker 18: A gory day is starting to end. Hey, baby, you're winning.
- 38:08Speaker 18: Pass the moon, pick a case of you. A man's
- 38:12Speaker 18: a young man with a vision child. A pirate's a
- 38:17Speaker 18: young pirate's son. Zero, zero, I'm moving. You're a molecule,
- 38:25Speaker 18: I'm going to go. Zero, zero, you win, you pass
- 38:32Speaker 18: more than I know you.
- 38:34Speaker 3: You don't know, you don't.
- 38:38Speaker 18: Know, Poco importa si el dinero es suyo Hey, baby,
- 39:00Speaker 18: es que es bello ligar Y ver un nenga feliz
- 39:04Speaker 18: nadar Se que poco mas poco, todo bien Agorra y
- 39:10Speaker 18: desistana una vez Hey, baby, for saving say you. But
- 39:18Speaker 18: say I'm on take a case of you. I don't
- 39:22Speaker 18: mind my chicken person child. But a resume will do
- 39:27Speaker 18: a better sale. Do do do do do do do do.
- 39:49Speaker 35: Thank y'all.
- 39:56Speaker 36: Already we got ice breaking on the curb.
- 40:08Speaker 26: This is, it's already shaping up to be a good
- 40:10Speaker 26: night back here.
- 40:10Speaker 16: It's out of control.
- 40:12Speaker 14: Well, I guess if nothing else, I want to thank
- 40:14Speaker 14: you for, for giving us all these, uh, these songs
- 40:16Speaker 14: to work with.
- 40:17Speaker 16: And, uh, Go ahead. Plug your band, too.
- 40:21Speaker 26: Oh, so this West Fest is great. And you know
- 40:24Speaker 26: what else is great? The Ladybirds.
- 40:26Speaker 27: Five-piece female-fronted rock and roll band from Louisville, Kentucky. We
- 40:30Speaker 27: do have our next show, guys, at Headliners on Oaks Night.
- 40:36Speaker 27: We'll be opening for the iconic, one of my favorite
- 40:39Speaker 27: women in the world, Wanda Jackson. And it's going to
- 40:42Speaker 27: be a great way to kick off Derby weekend. So
- 40:44Speaker 27: I'm super pumped to share it with y'all.
- 40:46Speaker 14: I've seen Wanda. She's amazing. Talk about, again, people, groundbreaking.
- 40:51Speaker 16: Amazing. So, yeah, you love Wanda, I'm sure.
- 40:54Speaker 27: Yes, in love with her, and it'll be our third
- 40:57Speaker 27: time playing with her. And we're just, third time is
- 41:00Speaker 27: a charm. It's going to be totally awesome. And thank
- 41:03Speaker 27: you for having me, for interviewing me. I appreciate it.
- 41:06Speaker 26: No problem.
- 41:06Speaker 16: Thank you for coming on the show.
- 41:09Speaker 12: Want some music for your ears? Doo-Wop Shop makes it
- 41:12Speaker 12: easy to rent for any event, business meeting, or special occasion.
- 41:16Speaker 12: From PA systems to karaoke machines to just about anything
- 41:19Speaker 12: that makes noise, you can rent it from the Doo-Wop Shop.
- 41:21Speaker 12: In Louisville, find them either at their Highland store at
- 41:24Speaker 12: 1587 Bardstown Road or in the East End at 2915
- 41:28Speaker 12: South Hurstburn Parkway. And look for them online at DooWopShop.com.
- 41:32Speaker 12: Doo-Wop Shop. We're serious about music.
- 41:55Speaker 37: Well, I came to Benjamin Britten's music through my school
- 42:03Speaker 37: and church production of Noise Flüde. when I was in
- 42:10Speaker 37: fourth grade, when I was like ten. A fluta, maybe
- 42:15Speaker 37: you say. And there was a production combining the school
- 42:21Speaker 37: and the church, and it was a kind of huge
- 42:24Speaker 37: event for us. And my older brother and I, I
- 42:28Speaker 37: was an otter, my older brother was an elk. I
- 42:31Speaker 37: never forgot these, the hymns and the various pieces that
- 42:35Speaker 37: form this wonderful opera play have never left me since
- 42:44Speaker 37: and so in this film that I've just made we
- 42:47Speaker 37: wanted to recreate, we recreated some moments that I remember
- 42:52Speaker 37: from this production and then I started to include Britten
- 42:57Speaker 37: music throughout the whole film and really set the film
- 43:01Speaker 37: to Britten's music. The young person's guide to the orchestra
- 43:05Speaker 37: really became the musical backbone of our story. And as
- 43:10Speaker 37: we went along, I added more and more Britten music.
- 43:13Speaker 37: Some pieces that I knew already, Midsummer Night's Dream, and
- 43:20Speaker 37: some I had never heard before, some music written for
- 43:23Speaker 37: children in particular.
- 43:24Speaker 1: That I had not heard before.
- 43:26Speaker 37: So it became sort of the central musical element of
- 43:32Speaker 37: this story.
- 43:53Speaker 5: I'm Dee Snyder from Twisted Sister, writer, star of Strangeland.
- 43:58Speaker 3: Radio, TV, you know me. And you're listening to Movie Meltdown.
- 44:03Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 44:04Speaker 22: This is our life. This is our song.
- 44:09Speaker 16: Hey, look who it is. It's Jen.
- 44:14Speaker 22: Hi.
- 44:15Speaker 14: Most recently from our Dead People episode.
- 44:18Speaker 9: Yep.
- 44:20Speaker 14: So my question of the night is, what was your
- 44:22Speaker 14: first Wes Anderson movie?
- 44:24Speaker 15: Royal Tenenbaums.
- 44:26Speaker 16: And what was your reaction to his style?
- 44:29Speaker 15: I liked it. It was oddly creative.
- 44:33Speaker 14: Do you remember having a connection to the music in
- 44:36Speaker 14: some way?
- 44:38Speaker 1: Yes.
- 44:39Speaker 30: I do.
- 44:40Speaker 6: Although now I can't name a single song off of
- 44:42Speaker 6: that movie, but.
- 44:45Speaker 15: Yes.
- 44:46Speaker 14: Did you ever expect to find yourself in the middle
- 44:49Speaker 14: of this crazy Wes Anderson festival?
- 44:52Speaker 22: No.
- 44:53Speaker 15: Not at all, actually. And yet here I am, because
- 44:57Speaker 15: I made art.
- 44:59Speaker 16: It's kind of crazy.
- 45:00Speaker 22: Yeah, it is.
- 45:01Speaker 16: There's a lot of people here.
- 45:02Speaker 15: I didn't expect asses to elbows.
- 45:05Speaker 16: There's a lot of people. But that's a good thing.
- 45:08Speaker 15: That's a great thing. It's good for them. And as
- 45:12Speaker 15: my friend said, apparently in Louisville everyone likes to dress up.
- 45:16Speaker 16: We really do.
- 45:17Speaker 14: I've kind of noticed that before, but no matter what,
- 45:20Speaker 14: they'll want to dress up for something.
- 45:22Speaker 15: Apparently this is Halloween town.
- 45:23Speaker 16: I think it is. I get to be Jack Skellington.
- 45:28Speaker 15: That's all right. I like the other one. I don't
- 45:32Speaker 15: remember her name either because I'm bad at that stuff.
- 45:34Speaker 10: Sally?
- 45:34Speaker 22: Yeah, there it is.
- 45:36Speaker 15: It's the overall impressions that stick with me. But oddly,
- 45:41Speaker 15: the little names, troublesome.
- 45:44Speaker 16: You might be Shock. I don't know.
- 45:46Speaker 22: Maybe.
- 45:46Speaker 15: I don't know. I might be. All right. I accept that.
- 45:54Speaker 1: All right.
- 45:55Speaker 16: I guess we'll get back to the party in here.
- 45:56Speaker 10: Okay.
- 45:57Speaker 16: Or I'm going to go stand by the soundboard over here.
- 45:59Speaker 15: I'm just trying to stay out of the way.
- 46:03Speaker 16: That is a lot of what's going on here.
- 46:08Speaker 12: Ladies and gentlemen, Nick Paye.
- 46:41Speaker 30: A hand on his arm, a stacked charm around your neck.
- 46:48Speaker 30: Strung out of fear, causing friends, trying to cash some check.
- 46:54Speaker 30: He's acting dumb, that's what you come to expect. Needle
- 47:01Speaker 30: in the hand Needle in the hand Needle in the
- 47:09Speaker 30: hand Needle in the hand Swearing your clothes, head down
- 47:36Speaker 30: your toes. The reaction that you say you know what
- 47:39Speaker 30: he did. But you idiot kid, you don't have a clue.
- 47:45Speaker 30: Sometimes you just get caught in the eye. You're pulling
- 47:49Speaker 30: him through. Needle in the hay. Needle in the hay.
- 47:59Speaker 3: Needle in the hay. Needle in the.
- 48:03Speaker 30: Hand And now on the bus, nearly touching this dirty retreat.
- 48:38Speaker 30: Falling out, six-time.
- 48:41Speaker 3: Pile of dead sweat in my teeth.
- 48:43Speaker 30: Gonna walk, walk, walk four more blocks plus the one
- 48:48Speaker 30: in my brain. Down, downstairs to the man. He's gonna
- 48:53Speaker 30: make it all again.
- 48:55Speaker 3: I can't be myself.
- 48:57Speaker 30: I can't be myself.
- 48:59Speaker 3: And I don't want to talk.
- 49:01Speaker 30: I'm taking the cure so I can be quiet whenever
- 49:06Speaker 30: I want.
- 49:06Speaker 3: So leave me alone.
- 49:09Speaker 1: I'm gonna be.
- 49:10Speaker 30: Proud that I'm getting good marks.
- 49:14Speaker 3: Needle in the hay.
- 49:16Speaker 2: Needle in the hay.
- 49:18Speaker 30: Needle in the hay Needle in the hay Needle in
- 49:27Speaker 30: the hay Needle in the hay Needle in the hay
- 49:43Speaker 30: Needle in the hay.
- 50:11Speaker 25: I'll be out back.
- 50:15Speaker 11: I'm going to find a tree to chop down.
- 50:27Speaker 2: I've been out walking I don't do too much talking
- 50:35Speaker 2: these days.
- 50:43Speaker 33: These days I like to think a lot about the
- 50:47Speaker 33: things that I forgot to do.
- 50:54Speaker 2: And all the time I have the chance.
- 51:19Speaker 3: I've stopped my rambling.
- 51:24Speaker 6: I don't do too much gambling these days These days
- 51:34Speaker 6: These days I seem to think about how all the
- 51:39Speaker 6: changes came about.
- 51:41Speaker 3: My ways.
- 51:46Speaker 6: And I wonder if I'll see another highway.
- 52:04Speaker 2: I had a lover.
- 52:09Speaker 6: I don't think I'll risk another.
- 52:12Speaker 22: These days.
- 52:20Speaker 33: And if I seem to be afraid to live the
- 52:25Speaker 33: life that I have made in.
- 52:28Speaker 6: Song It's just that I've.
- 52:35Speaker 3: Been losing.
- 52:52Speaker 2: La la la la la. La la. I've stopped my dreaming.
- 53:03Speaker 2: I won't do too much dreaming these days.
- 53:25Speaker 6: These days I seem to think a lot About the
- 53:30Speaker 6: things that I forgot to do Please don't confront me
- 53:39Speaker 6: with my failures.
- 53:44Speaker 2: I have forgotten.
- 54:07Speaker 1: Thanks!
- 54:10Speaker 21: Ben and I decided that we clearly didn't ingest enough
- 54:15Speaker 21: heroin to do these songs.
- 54:17Speaker 24: I can sit alone And be doing just fine Till
- 54:25Speaker 24: I hear an old phrase Coming down the line.
- 54:33Speaker 20: And I hurry straight Home and pack If I didn't.
- 54:43Speaker 3: Go I believe I'd blow.
- 54:46Speaker 20: My stack I love you baby But you gotta understand
- 54:56Speaker 20: When the Lord made me.
- 55:00Speaker 5: He made a rain of rain.
- 55:06Speaker 22: Guitar solo.
- 55:20Speaker 5: Might say that I'm no good that I.
- 55:27Speaker 4: Wouldn't settle down.
- 55:30Speaker 3: If I could cause when.
- 55:33Speaker 5: That open road starts to.
- 55:37Speaker 4: Call me it's something over the hill I've got to
- 55:45Speaker 4: say Sometimes it's hard, but you got to understand, when.
- 55:55Speaker 1: The Lord made me.
- 55:58Speaker 5: He made a real little man out like you.
- 56:32Speaker 9: I love to see the clouds passing.
- 56:50Speaker 5: By And to ride these rails in God's blue sky
- 56:59Speaker 5: Let me travel this little.
- 57:01Speaker 38: Land from the mountains to the seas, cause that's the
- 57:10Speaker 38: life I believe.
- 57:12Speaker 10: Amen.
- 57:14Speaker 2: And when I'm.
- 57:16Speaker 5: Gone, and it's my grave you stand, just say God's called.
- 57:23Speaker 22: You're ready. so so.
- 58:07Speaker 15: Thank you, guys.
- 58:11Speaker 14: All right, so there was a double shot of what
- 58:13Speaker 14: may or may not have been heroin-inducing songs, but I
- 58:16Speaker 14: did feel like they worked well together. First up, we
- 58:18Speaker 14: had Nico's These Days, performed by The Fervor, and was
- 58:22Speaker 14: originally a very character-defining.
- 58:25Speaker 12: Moment in the Royal Tenenbaums.
- 58:27Speaker 14: And we followed that up with Rambling Man, originally featured
- 58:30Speaker 14: in Moonrise Kingdom, but done here tonight, once again, by
- 58:33Speaker 14: the Quiet Hollers. Now next up, we're going to go
- 58:35Speaker 14: with one that has a very distinctive Wes Anderson vibe
- 58:38Speaker 14: to it. It's one that I think may have been
- 58:40Speaker 14: one of the harder songs to cover tonight, but it
- 58:43Speaker 14: is done very well by, once again, The Pass, a.k.a.
- 58:46Speaker 7: Thanks, guys.
- 58:46Speaker 16: We're Hinkley's Cold Storage. So now let's listen to them
- 58:49Speaker 16: perform the Life Aquatic Diving Theme.
- 59:13Speaker 2: So so.
- 59:49Speaker 22: Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
- 1:01:22Speaker 22: Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
- 1:03:11Speaker 10: Thank you.
- 1:03:47Speaker 3: All right, thank you.
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: What'd he say? He says the train's lost. How can
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: a train be lost? It's on rails.
- 1:03:56Speaker 16: Apparently we took a wrong turn at some point last night.
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: That's crazy. How far off course are we?
- 1:04:00Speaker 36: Nobody knows.
- 1:04:00Speaker 16: We haven't located us yet. What'd you just say?
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: What?
- 1:04:04Speaker 16: What you just said.
- 1:04:05Speaker 3: Say it again.
- 1:04:06Speaker 16: We haven't located us yet.
- 1:04:07Speaker 7: Ah!
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: Is that symbolic?
- 1:04:10Speaker 3: We haven't located us yet.
- 1:04:13Speaker 18: This is a Peter Sarstedt tune.
- 1:04:16Speaker 3: I hope we have enough room here.
- 1:04:34Speaker 21: You talk like Marlena Dietrich And you dance like Zizi
- 1:04:40Speaker 21: Zahman Your clothes are all made by Balmain There's diamonds and.
- 1:04:49Speaker 3: Pearls in your hair.
- 1:04:51Speaker 22: Yes, there are.
- 1:04:54Speaker 21: You live in a fancy apartment at the Boulevard Saint-Michel
- 1:05:03Speaker 21: where you keep your Rolling Stones record and a friend
- 1:05:10Speaker 21: of Sasha Distel.
- 1:05:12Speaker 2: Yes, you do.
- 1:05:16Speaker 21: Go to the embassy parties You talk in Russian and
- 1:05:23Speaker 21: Greek You dwell men who walk in your circles They
- 1:05:30Speaker 21: hang on every word that you speak Yes.
- 1:05:33Speaker 22: They do.
- 1:05:37Speaker 21: Where do you go to my lovely.
- 1:05:41Speaker 3: When you're alone in your bed.
- 1:05:46Speaker 21: Tell me the thoughts that surround you.
- 1:05:50Speaker 3: I want to get inside your head.
- 1:05:54Speaker 22: Yes, I do.
- 1:05:58Speaker 21: Involve your qualifications that you got at the sore bone.
- 1:06:07Speaker 21: You said you'd go far from Picasso.
- 1:06:11Speaker 3: Well, your loveliness goes on and on. Yes, it does.
- 1:06:19Speaker 21: Could you do some more vacation? You go to Ju-on-o-Mao.
- 1:06:28Speaker 21: Would you carefully design topless swimsuits? You get an even
- 1:06:35Speaker 21: suntan on your back and on your lips.
- 1:06:39Speaker 18: When the snow falls, you're found in St.
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: Maureen.
- 1:06:45Speaker 3: When the doves of the jet set.
- 1:06:48Speaker 18: And you sip your Napoleon brandy.
- 1:06:54Speaker 21: But you never get your lips wet.
- 1:06:58Speaker 19: No, you don't.
- 1:07:01Speaker 3: But where do you go to, my lovely, when you're
- 1:07:08Speaker 3: alone in your bed?
- 1:07:11Speaker 21: Tell me the thoughts that surround you. I want to
- 1:07:16Speaker 21: look inside your head.
- 1:07:19Speaker 5: Yes, I do.
- 1:07:36Speaker 18: I can't remember the first to this.
- 1:07:39Speaker 21: Part But you're lovely the way that you are So
- 1:07:46Speaker 21: I'll just hang up on these words Cause I.
- 1:07:50Speaker 3: Can't remember this part Where do you go to my lovely.
- 1:08:01Speaker 30: When you're alone in your bed.
- 1:08:07Speaker 21: Tell me the thoughts that surround you I.
- 1:08:12Speaker 3: Want to look inside.
- 1:08:15Speaker 22: Your head, yes I do.
- 1:08:18Speaker 21: I remember the back streets of Naples Two children begging
- 1:08:25Speaker 21: in wrath Both touched with the burning ambition To shake
- 1:08:33Speaker 21: off their lonely born.
- 1:08:34Speaker 3: Tacks and they try.
- 1:08:38Speaker 21: So look into my face Marie Claire And tell me
- 1:08:45Speaker 21: what do you see Then go and forgive me forever
- 1:08:51Speaker 21: But I know you still bear the scars deep inside.
- 1:09:00Speaker 22: But where do you go.
- 1:09:02Speaker 21: To my lovely when you're alone in your bed tell
- 1:09:10Speaker 21: me the thoughts that surround.
- 1:09:12Speaker 3: You I wanna look inside your head.
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: All right, you all.
- 1:09:51Speaker 10: West Fest is concluded with the bands, but let's dance.
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: All right.
- 1:09:58Speaker 16: Well, the dance party has started, so I guess I
- 1:10:00Speaker 16: better get out of here.
- 1:10:02Speaker 14: I mean, really, think about it. Wes Anderson fans dancing
- 1:10:07Speaker 14: so many But it was a great success tonight, if
- 1:10:10Speaker 14: I heard correctly. They sold the place out. So congratulations
- 1:10:13Speaker 14: to Heather. The place was packed. The bands were great.
- 1:10:16Speaker 14: Everybody was having fun. So I'd say tonight was a success.
- 1:10:19Speaker 14: And I think if nothing else, we put together a
- 1:10:21Speaker 14: great soundtrack of our own.
- 1:10:23Speaker 16: Sort of a best of Wes Anderson kind of a thing.
- 1:10:26Speaker 16: So hopefully you enjoyed it.
- 1:10:27Speaker 14: Thank you once again to Heather for putting it together
- 1:10:29Speaker 14: and for getting me involved and basically letting me hang
- 1:10:32Speaker 14: out there all night. And thank you once again to
- 1:10:34Speaker 14: Sarah for breaking down the songs tonight and introducing us
- 1:10:37Speaker 14: to some of the bands they had on hand. But
- 1:10:39Speaker 14: as we come to a close here, I thought it
- 1:10:41Speaker 14: only fitting that we let the creator of this event
- 1:10:43Speaker 14: round things out. So here's Heather again to bring us
- 1:10:46Speaker 14: our final song. Thank you once again for listening. And
- 1:10:49Speaker 14: with that, I will remind you, get a life and
- 1:10:51Speaker 14: we'll provide the soundtrack. I guess just to tie in
- 1:10:55Speaker 14: the movies and the music, what was the first Wes
- 1:10:58Speaker 14: Anderson movie you saw? And then did the music click then?
- 1:11:01Speaker 14: Or what was the big music moment in conjunction with it?
- 1:11:04Speaker 10: My favorite is Rushmore, which is his second film. And
- 1:11:08Speaker 10: I would say that the song that stuck out most
- 1:11:10Speaker 10: to me was Ooh La La by The Faces. And
- 1:11:12Speaker 10: the movie ends with that song. And we're actually going
- 1:11:14Speaker 10: to be ending West Fest with that song as well.
- 1:11:17Speaker 10: It's a song that I DJ with often. I think
- 1:11:19Speaker 10: it embodies the feel-good vibes of a lot of this music.
- 1:11:23Speaker 22: Oh, good night.
- 1:11:41Speaker 2: He laughed at all his words I thought he was
- 1:11:47Speaker 2: a bitter man He spoke women's.
- 1:11:51Speaker 19: Ways He trapped you and he used you Before you
- 1:11:58Speaker 19: even know Love is blind and soon you'll find Just
- 1:12:05Speaker 19: don't let.
- 1:12:06Speaker 23: It show.
- 1:12:08Speaker 2: I wish that I knew what I know now When
- 1:12:14Speaker 2: I was younger I wish that I knew what I
- 1:12:19Speaker 2: know now We're no stronger.
- 1:12:23Speaker 22: You can't care.
- 1:12:25Speaker 3: Such a pretty show.
- 1:12:27Speaker 22: Steal your heart away.
- 1:12:31Speaker 2: Backstage, back on earth again. The dressing rooms are gray.
- 1:12:39Speaker 2: You're strong. You've been too long for me. love is
- 1:12:47Speaker 2: blind soon you'll find just a boy I can't I
- 1:12:54Speaker 2: wish that I knew what I know now when.
- 1:12:59Speaker 22: I was younger I wish that.
- 1:13:03Speaker 2: I knew what I know now when I was younger
- 1:13:09Speaker 2: guitar solo so.
- 1:13:15Speaker 28: So Wanna kiss, you get a cheek Makes you wonder
- 1:13:43Speaker 28: where you are Try for more, just pass the sweet,
- 1:13:50Speaker 28: twinkle in the stars.
- 1:13:54Speaker 19: Poor young grasshopper, there's nothing I can say.
- 1:14:01Speaker 22: You have to learn, just like.
- 1:14:04Speaker 2: Me, that's the hardest way. Wish that I knew what
- 1:14:12Speaker 2: I know now. When I was younger I wished that
- 1:14:19Speaker 2: I knew what I know now When I was stronger
- 1:14:24Speaker 2: I wished that I knew what I know now When
- 1:14:30Speaker 2: I was younger I wished that I knew what I
- 1:14:35Speaker 2: know now When.
- 1:14:38Speaker 22: I was stronger Thank you. I knew what I.
- 1:15:45Speaker 2: Know now When I was younger I wish that I
- 1:16:00Speaker 2: knew what I know now When I was younger Ooh.
- 1:16:19Speaker 22: Thanks so much.
- 1:16:31Speaker 21: Does anyone have a small bag of heroin for sale?
- 1:16:36Speaker 3: Like a $ 15 bag.
- 1:16:37Speaker 21: You all probably didn't know I can speak English, but
- 1:16:44Speaker 21: I'm American.
- 1:16:45Speaker 15: And can I see a demonstration of your badger face, please?
- 1:16:49Speaker 15: Turn around and do it for the whole crowd. Thanks,
- 1:16:51Speaker 15: we totally wrote that one. David Bowie, who the fuck
- 1:16:57Speaker 15: is he?
- 1:16:58Speaker 32: Can we get the shark jaguar down from the bar, please?
- 1:17:02Speaker 22: And award it.
- 1:17:04Speaker 6: To Wes Anderson, the man of the hour, everybody.
- 1:17:08Speaker 15: The man of the hour.
- 1:17:10Speaker 3: Everybody's feeling Wes Anderson tonight.
- 1:17:14Speaker 16: Thank you.
- 1:17:19Speaker 15: Wait till you see your fucking prize, dude.
- 1:17:22Speaker 34: Kelsey needs a bunch of stuff back here.
- 1:17:25Speaker 15: Anything you can give her. It's not the amount of
- 1:17:28Speaker 15: heroin you do, folks.
- 1:17:31Speaker 3: You guys ever felt like there's a.
- 1:17:33Speaker 34: You ever feel the man just hovering over your back shoulder? Yeah,
- 1:17:39Speaker 34: that's what I'm talking about. That's what I'm talking about.
- 1:17:41Speaker 34: You know what I'm talking about. So this song's kind
- 1:17:45Speaker 34: of about that. Hey, thanks for everybody that put this on.
- 1:17:49Speaker 34: This thing is pretty fucking badass, if I do say
- 1:17:52Speaker 34: so myself. You guys are great. Thank you so much
- 1:17:56Speaker 34: for being here.
- 1:17:57Speaker 3: The whole Wes Craven thing was a joke.
- 1:17:59Speaker 23: I know it's Wes Anderson.
