Latest / Kat & JJ / Playhouse Podcast: How Not to Slide into DMs (Waving Hand Fails)
Transcript
- 0:00It's the Playhouse Podcast with Kat and JJ. Can you believe it? I missed everything.
- 0:06Missed the show? What am I going to do? Check out the daily podcast.
- 0:09Had a lot of fun Thursday morning during our live show, and we talked to a guy
- 0:12named John who's struggling a little bit with his online dating,
- 0:16and he thought he had the best way to slide into a girl's DMs,
- 0:20and we all thought it was actually kind of stupid.
- 0:23But the best news is you had good suggestions for how he should start these
- 0:27conversations. That's coming up in just a couple of seconds here in the podcast. Let's go. Bingo.
- 0:32How far? Last week, someone lost an eye at bingo. Bingo. Bingo what?
- 0:37Bingo. Bingo. Bingo. Hurry up and call immediately if you fit one of the following
- 0:41two criteria so you can get the bingo. Are you somebody listening who?
- 0:45Who has a parent that did something cool back in their day. So this guy, he is so proud of his mom.
- 0:52She has made like all these weird cameos in commercials and movies that you've
- 0:56seen. She's like lady that walks in front of Ted Danson, you know,
- 1:00but he had this like highlight reel.
- 1:03And he's like, I think that's my mom in that TV infomercial.
- 1:06She is talking on the phone, getting out of hand, then attach the phone relief headset.
- 1:10It's that easy. She passed away in 1999. So I felt like, you know,
- 1:1426 years later, I can feel like I'm getting a little bit of a God wink.
- 1:18For sure. Every time I see it, I'm like, there's my mom just gonna smile. That's crazy.
- 1:22Like you all of a sudden get a video clip of your mom 25 years ago.
- 1:25Well, a news station was doing like a little expose on funny gadgets that were
- 1:30created back in the day to make your life easier.
- 1:32And she's in the background being able to do things with both hands because
- 1:36she wasn't having to hold the phone.
- 1:38He's like, hey, that's my mom. So you thought it was pretty cool.
- 1:41So you have a parent that did something cool or notable back in the day.
- 1:44I'm going to go on the hunt for anyone listening who has had to do CPR on a stranger.
- 1:49Oh, wow. All right. Like you rolled up to an accident. Maybe you were a coach
- 1:53and a kid went in a cardiac arrest or something like that.
- 1:55But you had to perform CPR on a stranger. They're saying, by the way.
- 1:59Fewer and fewer people are learning CPR.
- 2:03And it's one of those things you can learn in 60 seconds. And it literally can save someone's life.
- 2:08So I'm looking for anyone listening who's actually done CPR on somebody you
- 2:11had no idea who they were.
- 2:13Or maybe you're looking for, maybe we're looking for somebody listening.
- 2:15Who? Who has a parent that did something pretty cool back in the day.
- 2:18And you'd love to talk about it. Okay, let's go.
- 2:20First caller through gets the bingo, but you got to call now.
- 2:23Oh, father. Last week, someone lost an eye at bingo. Bingo. Bingo what bingo? Bingo. Bingo.
- 2:29All right, so Debbie is patiently waiting, but we don't know.
- 2:31Is she somebody listening who?
- 2:33Who has a parent that did something pretty cool.
- 2:36They were airing on this local TV station back in the day gadgets that just
- 2:40made your life easier. And it was a TV infomercial from the 90s.
- 2:44And this guy's watching.
- 2:45He's like, hey, that's my mom. He is talking on the phone, getting out of hand.
- 2:48Then attach the phone relief headset. It's that easy. She passed away in 1999,
- 2:53so I felt like, you know, 26 years later, I feel like I'm getting a little bit of a god wink.
- 2:57For sure, every time I see it, I'm like, there's my mom who's going to smile.
- 3:01And that's incredible. But tell me, does this not sound like the dog on Family Guy?
- 3:06He is talking on the phone, getting out of hand. That's got to be the same guy.
- 3:10From what? That's Brian, the dog on Family Guy. He is talking on the phone, getting out of hand.
- 3:16Guaranteed. Isn't the dog Seth MacFarlane? Does he do that voice?
- 3:20Does he do the voice of Brian? I thought he did. This sounds exactly like the
- 3:23dog on Family Guy, though, right?
- 3:25He is talking on the phone, getting out of hand. Yes. Hey, Brian.
- 3:30So his mom is in, like, TV shows, like, doing cameos, woman standing next to
- 3:35elevator, woman walking with purse fast, you know?
- 3:39So that's kind of cool. So you're looking for anyone listening whose parent
- 3:42has done something really, really awesome or noteworthy.
- 3:44I'm on the hunt for anyone listening who has done CPR on a stranger.
- 3:47I had to do it once on a stranger. Yeah.
- 3:51And unfortunately, he passed away. It was a car accident that we rolled up on.
- 3:55So did you just not pay attention?
- 3:57Well, no, no, no. He was DOA. Like, it was a traumatic head injury or whatever.
- 4:01But I tried and I tried and I tried. Debbie, which one do you fit?
- 4:05With you, JJ. Okay, let's go. So you had to do CPR on a stranger.
- 4:09First off, were you CPR, like, trained or did you just have to wing it? Oh, yeah.
- 4:14Yeah, no, been trained for quite some time. And did you train with the song,
- 4:19Staying Alive? Because it has since changed.
- 4:24I'm being serious. No, I did not have that going through my head.
- 4:26Oh. Yeah. So give us the scenario. You had to do CPR on somebody you didn't know. What happened?
- 4:31We were at an auction. This was many, many years ago.
- 4:34And just this big, big guy goes down and the auctioneer is like, does anybody know CPR?
- 4:40And there's already one gal up there.
- 4:43And she, of course, is doing the chest compressions. And I thought, well, lucky her.
- 4:47So and nowadays you don't even have to, you know, the mouth thing. Right, right.
- 4:54So what did you do?
- 4:56Sorry. Sorry. Oh, your phone is breaking up. Debbie, what did you do? There we go. OK.
- 5:03So all of a sudden, all right. You know what? This guy's down and out and just started.
- 5:08Yep. She's doing chest compressions. I'm on the mouth. And but then the only
- 5:12thing that really bothered me, there was some guy standing over us critiquing.
- 5:15And I thought, you get your butt down here. Yeah, right. Stop.
- 5:19Hop into action yourself. My big question is when they said,
- 5:22does anyone know CPR was your first instinct to raise your paddle?
- 5:28No? I did. I thought, you know what? Did he make it, Debbie?
- 5:33Did he die or did he make it?
- 5:34He did. He actually made it. All right. He saved his life. So that was kind
- 5:38of, it was like, all right, yeah. What'd he taste like? Yeah.
- 5:42That was gross. He had a denture, and that was floating around. Oh, my God.
- 5:49All right. But he lived to go to another auction.
- 5:54All right. Debbie, you're great. After that, I had about three cocktails, and it was all just.
- 5:59Dominic, you found a way to beat the system and become caller number 10.
- 6:05Congratulations. What are you up to?
- 6:08Nothing. Just heading into work. All right. What do you do, sir?
- 6:11Financial advisor. Okay.
- 6:14Now, I want to drop something on everyone real quick.
- 6:18Because I read it this morning and it made me feel icky. And I feel like it's
- 6:22my job to pass along the ick to all of you.
- 6:25Do you know, Dominic, that within eight short weeks, you're probably going to
- 6:29be scraping snow off your car?
- 6:31Right? Yeah. Unfortunately, I will be. That sucks.
- 6:35Yeah, but I like those videos where it's like 17 more sleeps until Christmas.
- 6:39You know, like I'll start posting those things.
- 6:41But do you at least have a heated garage or a situation where you don't have
- 6:45to scrape your car every morning?
- 6:48Oh, we have a garage. Yeah. One last question. What would you what are you what
- 6:51are you investing in? What are you putting your money in as an advisor?
- 6:55You're like, this is going to be big. What's hot?
- 6:59Yeah. All on red.
- 7:03Fair enough. Let's go with a guy that. Are you one of those where we have to
- 7:06pay you for your thoughts?
- 7:07Exactly. That's exactly what that meant. I bet you're a Gen Z.
- 7:11I don't think we have enough time.
- 7:12I'm on 3% if I'm going to give you a tip. My guy's like, you just want to invest
- 7:16in shampoo. Everyone's going to need shampoo. I'm like, all right.
- 7:20I just go along with it. Okay. Apple always seems to work, right?
- 7:25Let's get it for now. Dominic in front of Kat. She has now opened the envelope
- 7:29that contains your dollar amount.
- 7:30We know it's between $1,000 and $5,000.
- 7:34So you got a $4,000 gap. You're going to guess your first guess,
- 7:37and then we'll start your 12-second clock.
- 7:39If you can figure out how much money with Kat's help is sitting in front of
- 7:42her, you can keep all of it. Do you have any questions for us?
- 7:46No. You would think a guy in the finance business would be able to figure this
- 7:50out rather quick. So we wish you the best of luck, and you're ready to go on your first guess.
- 7:543,200. Lower. 2,500. Higher. 3,000. Lower.
- 8:012,800. Higher. 2,875. Higher.
- 8:052,888. Aw, 2,888. I would have taken that. That was his last guess.
- 8:10It really was. 2,907. You were a good listener.
- 8:14Yeah, yeah. So I'm on a bunch of dating sites, and I'm just not having success.
- 8:20I've been messaging people, and I'm just left on read.
- 8:26It's getting a little frustrating at this point. I'm like, am I ugly?
- 8:29I don't know what's going on here. So give me a number real quick.
- 8:32How many have you messaged and how many have not gone back to you?
- 8:37I'm 9-0 right now. 9-0. Yeah, I reached out to 9, 0 responded back.
- 8:43It's just been over this last month. Okay, so you've messaged nine women in
- 8:48one month and not one has gotten back to you. What is your starting message?
- 8:54Like, what do you slide into the DMs with? Well, you know, I'm not trying to
- 8:57be a creeper, so I just usually put that emoji, you know, the waving hand.
- 9:01Okay, now this is where I want to stop. Hold on, hold on, hold on.
- 9:04I'm going to put you on hold for a second, John. This is where I want to stop.
- 9:08And I just want to know, let's say you're single cat and this guy hits you with just the wavy hand.
- 9:13Do you respond? No, I don't. I think we could probably all agree this is not
- 9:17the way you want to approach this, right? I've never had a good start with a
- 9:21waving hand because then what is it?
- 9:24You say hello back and then they're like, hey, have you checked out my website?
- 9:28I have a new track that you have to listen to.
- 9:30I always feel like there's spam or scam.
- 9:33Because that's what we get at the radio station. It's usually a wavy hand.
- 9:36And if you wave back, then it's like, hey, I'm an independent artist from Jordan, Minnesota.
- 9:41Have you heard my new hip hop track? Nothing good has ever followed the waving
- 9:43hand. It's not like you just have to say, oh, hey, I stumbled across your profile.
- 9:48I really enjoyed this about you. I think that I would like to learn a little bit more.
- 9:53What I want you to picture, John, is that you walk up to somebody in a club
- 9:57and like just face to face, you just wave at them.
- 10:00And that is what you're doing. OK, so let's do this. If we can all agree that
- 10:05the waving hand is probably not the best way to approach somebody you've never
- 10:09met before on an online dating thing, what would be the best go-to? What would work on you?
- 10:15Anything that was from my profile.
- 10:18So anything that you can relate to and do not fake relate to it.
- 10:23So if I like to, let's say.
- 10:27Recumbent bikes. Yes. If you like to lay back and bike at the same time and
- 10:32you're like, hey, I have a flag on mine. Do you have a flag on yours?
- 10:36And then I'll say, I do. So you really value your safety.
- 10:40And then we will get into it. When did you quit caring about your life?
- 10:43And then we will converse about that. And who knows? I mean,
- 10:47the possibilities are endless. Wedding bells in your future.
- 10:50Yeah, recumbent bike. On a serious note, though, as a woman listening right
- 10:54now, or even a guy, I don't care.
- 10:56What would be something that would actually get your attention on a dating profile?
- 10:59I think we can all agree that the wavy hand doesn't work.
- 11:02But as John's on hold, I would like for you to call real quick and just let
- 11:05him know what would be a good opening line.
- 11:08So a couple of seconds ago, we talked to a guy named John, and he had DM'd us earlier.
- 11:12And we said, let's bring this to the show because I think we've got a lot of
- 11:15listeners that might be able to help you out. So kind of new to dating apps.
- 11:19And so far this month, he's gone 0 for 9. He's hit up nine different girls,
- 11:23hasn't got a response from any of them. So we said, how are you hitting them
- 11:26up when you slide into their DMs? What game you spitting?
- 11:29And he just sends the waving hand.
- 11:32And so for me, I picture like when you are conversing with people online,
- 11:37like how would that look face to face?
- 11:39And can you imagine a guy just walking up and waving his big hand in your face?
- 11:43And you're like, where are we going to go from here?
- 11:46So I think a more thoughtful approach needs to be made. You need a great first line.
- 11:52Derek had called a couple of seconds ago, and he said, Tryouts are on Tuesday.
- 11:56Tryouts are on Tuesday. Now, that's
- 11:58great. Is he calling the right radio station? That's great, isn't it?
- 12:02You see, you've got it. Come try out and buy for my love. Tryouts are on Tuesday.
- 12:09Okay. Let's see what you got. He sounds like a catch. I like that.
- 12:11Hi, Hilda. How are you doing today?
- 12:13I'm good. How's it going? Good, good. Thanks for calling the show.
- 12:15If you could help out John here for a second, what would be a great opening
- 12:18line? He's using all these apps, he's trying to get a date, and he's using the
- 12:23wavy hand, which we've all agreed sucks.
- 12:25What would you go with as an opening line?
- 12:27Stop the emoji, stop the small talk. Literally say, would you like to go out?
- 12:32Would you like to go out for lunch?
- 12:34Yeah. Because it's flooded with small talk. Meet up.
- 12:37Ain't nobody got time in the online single game for small talk. Hold it.
- 12:43Let's go out for lunch would work on you? You'd be like, sure.
- 12:47Well, in my experience on dating apps, it's so much small talk and people just
- 12:51don't want to meet up anymore.
- 12:53So it's refreshing if somebody wants to meet you in person.
- 12:56You know what's sad is that people feel like they're getting everybody,
- 13:01like getting the other persons all through the Internet, which you can't.
- 13:06You know, you have to meet up with them and get a sense of who they are and
- 13:09have conversations face to face.
- 13:11Why do you think people don't want to meet up? I don't know,
- 13:13but you could talk and talk and talk.
- 13:15And then you meet somebody and you're like, absolutely not. I just wasted the
- 13:19last two weeks talking to this person. Yes.
- 13:21So it is refreshing to meet somebody face to face. And you know right away if
- 13:26they're going to work or not.
- 13:27And how hot would that be? Like a forward man if he's just like,
- 13:31hey, I think we need to meet up for, even if it's just coffee.
- 13:35Coffee in a queso. Well, I married mine.
- 13:38I married the man that asked me out and we went for coffee and that was it, right?
- 13:43So I got another suggestion for John. I want to run it past you since you're
- 13:46on the line hill. Like a good opening line, like nice jugs is not good.
- 13:51Not good. Okay. Definitely not. You don't want to be complimented that way?
- 13:54No. Okay. It would be so hard to watch if you were single. Just trying.
- 13:58Just trying things, guys. Just throwing it against the wall. Seeing what sticks.
- 14:03Friday morning going to get you three opportunities to win with free money high low.
- 14:06That's up to $5,000 every time. One shot at $50,000. And of course,
- 14:11Fridays mean Johnny D is going to be here with a couple of old school mixes.
- 14:14So if you haven't experienced a Friday morning live with our show, Friday, do it.
- 14:19It's going to be well worth your time as we finish up our podcast.
- 14:22All right. So when I was at Aldi the other day, I was going down the aisle.
- 14:28I had my list and I had passed by this woman, must have been in her 80s.
- 14:35She was all like slumped over, you know, osteoporosis and kicked in.
- 14:38Yeah, and she had her little list.
- 14:40And so she was an obvious shopper.
- 14:43And I passed by her in the bread aisle and then again in the home decor aisle.
- 14:49And then we're in like the pasta area.
- 14:52And I guess I hadn't noticed other aisles if she was doing this,
- 14:56but I was getting some taco stuff.
- 14:58And she is facing all of the cans of soup. And then she moved down to make sure
- 15:05all the boxes of pasta were lined up perfectly.
- 15:09So I was like,
- 15:11Maybe she has a little OCD. A lot of OCD. To be doing this.
- 15:16And I wondered, you know, obviously, like I said, I didn't notice that she had
- 15:20been doing this other areas of the store.
- 15:23It is strange. But she spent a good amount of time in that aisle.
- 15:27Things were not the way that she wanted.
- 15:29But I was like, that's one of the strangest things I've seen in a long time.
- 15:33You've got a lot of time on your hands probably, too. That was probably just making her happy.
- 15:36Yeah. What's a strange thing that you've noticed lately? I saw two turkeys doing it yesterday.
- 15:41What does that even look like? Where is that area for them? Like same. Like a dog.
- 15:47Okay. So they mount. Yeah. I've been taking a new way home because it's giving
- 15:52me, there's a, something happened like a couple of years ago where like being
- 15:56out of the city is giving me great joy.
- 15:59Yeah. So I'm taking like a different route home takes like two minutes longer,
- 16:02but it's all through the countryside. And. Did you watch?
- 16:07I just passed by. I was doing 55. So I. Two seconds. Two seconds.
- 16:10Two seconds. I was just like, get it, guy.
- 16:12And that was it. And I said it out loud to myself. I'm like, get it. Get it.
- 16:16But I never, like, I'm not a city guy, but I'm also not a country bumpkin,
- 16:22so I'd never seen two turkeys doing it before.
- 16:24Yeah. And there's a spot that I drive by where I've noticed there are probably
- 16:28a half a dozen wild turkeys all the time.
- 16:31So I know to slow down a little bit because I don't want to clip one.
- 16:34But they're right on the side of the road showing it off for everyone.
- 16:37Like, this guy's like, look at me.
- 16:38Yeah. Yeah. I'm the big gobbler. Get it. He was getting it. I just remember going, get it.
- 16:43Good for him. I just kind of moved on. You think she woke up today, she's like, oh, God.
- 16:47Get away. Probably not. What did I even do last night? Probably not.
- 16:51So what's the weirdest thing you've seen lately?
- 16:54Somebody had texted in what you saw at Aldi the other day is a direct...
- 16:59Response to somebody who had worked retail previously in life.
- 17:03You think this woman was like 80?
- 17:05Yeah, she was definitely in her 80s. She was very slumped over.
- 17:08She was tiny, tiny little woman.
- 17:09And so she was like facing and I used to work at a grocery store.
- 17:14That was my job from like midnight to three.
- 17:16I would face the aisle. So everything looked great.
- 17:19And she was doing it to all the soups, all the pastas, just making her way down the aisle.
- 17:25And I was like, man, To have OCD, I wouldn't wish that on anybody because it's
- 17:30like you can't move forward in life without doing these.
- 17:33You have those intrusive thoughts. That has to be really tough.
- 17:36So we just thought, what's the weirdest thing you've seen lately?
- 17:39Yesterday I saw a couple of turkeys getting freaky. Yeah, that's crazy.
- 17:43Tom was after it. So I want to bring Dave on the show. I appreciate you holding.
- 17:47We know this has to do with New York.
- 17:49So tell us what's the weirdest thing you've seen lately?
- 17:52Okay, my wife and I went to this grocery store in New York.
- 17:55Okay. So were you on vacation, obviously?
- 17:57Yeah, yeah. We're just visiting family. We had a wedding in town.
- 18:00Okay. And they have this, I guess, like cameras and a software where it's like facial recognition.
- 18:05And it's like, whatever, there's signs, you will be recorded.
- 18:08We have facial recognition, whatever.
- 18:09And we go inside and apparently they like save your data and like remember what you bought.
- 18:16So we're going down the store and the grocery cart, I guess, is electric.
- 18:19And it's trying to like steer us in a direction. It's like, oh, we recognize you.
- 18:23Come back to this section. And I went to the grocery store once before I took my wife there. Yeah.
- 18:29You know, tell her. And I was like, you know, I bought ice cream.
- 18:31I didn't bring her in. I had it myself.
- 18:33And she was like, why is it bringing us to the ice cream section?
- 18:35And I'm like, I don't know. This is technology. Who knows? Maybe her face looks like someone else.
- 18:38And she took it out. She said, you came here before. You got ice cream without
- 18:41me. And I was like, whatever. So this machine is like snitching on me.
- 18:43And it's got my face. And I don't know.
- 18:45This is wigging me out. Hold on one second.
- 18:48I'm not ready for this. Biometrics. I'm not ready to go to the grocery store
- 18:52and have the cart guide me to the place I shop most often. Yeah.
- 18:57I mean, talk about Big Brother. I don't need my cart to, like,
- 19:01pull me. So, in my car right now, I have that lane.
- 19:04Like, it will drive itself, the car will. It'll keep you inside the lane.
- 19:08But if I go past a lane where you would merge left to go across a highway or
- 19:12something, it will yank my wheel. Yeah. You know?
- 19:15Which is super scary in slippery conditions. Yeah. Because you feel like you're
- 19:19sliding off the road, and it's just adjusting for you.
- 19:21For the people that, like, sleep in their cars and trust their car like that,
- 19:24like Tesla people, that is not a good idea.
- 19:27Well, it still has to see your eyes, and it wants to feel your hands on the wheel.
- 19:30Can you imagine, though, like, knowing exactly what you need to get at the grocery
- 19:33store, and then it pulls you a different direction...
- 19:36The only way that it would be good for grocery stores is that you're going to
- 19:41spend more money. Like you're in there just for milk and honey, and that's it.
- 19:44And then you go. You've never gone in. I've never gone to the grocery store for just milk and honey.
- 19:48But then you go in and they're like, no, you went to the cereal aisle last time.
- 19:52You need some more cereal. You need to go get lunch meat.
- 19:55I don't want the grocery store knowing what I, I don't mind if I,
- 19:59if I'm going to do a curbside pickup or something like that.
- 20:01I don't mind you knowing what I'm eating, but I don't want that to be general public now.
- 20:08If you look back on your yearbook, did you get to have a senior quote? No.
- 20:15My favorite of all time is from Abigail Ho, who said, I've been a ho my whole life.
- 20:24That's my all-time favorite. I cannot believe they let that slide.
- 20:29She has. She's been a ho her entire life. I mean, she's paying homage to her family name.
- 20:34So I thought, what if you could go back, when you hit our point in life,
- 20:40wherever you are, and you could re-quote your senior year, what would your new
- 20:46quote be under your picture, Kat?
- 20:48Probably, like, I finally learned how to write good.
- 20:53You know, like, really just make them say, damn it.
- 20:58That's what we're putting out there to the world. Lisa sent in an actual picture
- 21:02of hers and below hers is a senior quote. It says I'm way cuter in person.
- 21:07That's good. Good job, Lisa. I think mine would be.
- 21:11They can all call you fat, stupid and ugly, but you've never licked a butthole.
- 21:21So I got that going for me. But I know. I know. I know.
- 21:28Okay, well, good for you. No one likes a bragger, but... You can't say the same, huh?
- 21:33No, I can definitely say the same. That's a dumpster.
- 21:36Let's get your senior quote. If you could rewrite your senior quote.
- 21:41I want to say good morning to Ashley who texted in. My parents got divorced my senior year.
- 21:44So mine now would be, don't let other people's choices reflect your own.
- 21:50Okay. I like that. That's deep.
- 21:51If you could rewrite your senior quote today based on how your life is going, what would it say?
- 21:58It was 13 years ago today on our show that we had a job shadow,
- 22:06That came in here and was the most nervous young man I had ever met in my life.
- 22:13But now he works for the city.
- 22:16Yeah. So here's the story. This kid comes in. He shows up, I don't know,
- 22:20five, six minutes in front of six o'clock. His mom had dropped him off.
- 22:23And he just kind of sat in the corner.
- 22:26Just taking it all in as they normally do. At the time, we had like a studio
- 22:30cam in here that would videotape everything that was going on.
- 22:33And I don't know, we broadcast, I don't know, on Twitch or something.
- 22:36And, and over the course of the morning, we'd notice his nerves building up.
- 22:42And like for us every day to hit the button and, you know, talk to hundreds
- 22:46of thousands of people, it's not that big of a deal.
- 22:47Yeah. But for him, he was very, very nervous to be in here. Didn't want to be
- 22:51on the air at all. Just wanted to observe.
- 22:53Then the pacing started and we're like, he's kind of making us feel strange.
- 22:57Why don't you sit down, brother?
- 22:59And he takes a seat behind me to my left and I can see Kat's eyes kind of darting
- 23:04over at him every once in a while.
- 23:05And all of a sudden he lunges towards the
- 23:08garbage pail and misses it
- 23:11misses it and throws up all over the carpeting
- 23:14in the studio and you're like we have carpet no we have carpet on the walls
- 23:17just to deaden the sound right and to keep the acoustics right and he throws
- 23:21up all over it and and we're like dude can you call your mom maybe she should
- 23:25come back and get you oh that's fine she's just sitting outside yeah so I hadn't
- 23:28realized that this mom had dropped her son off for a job shadow.
- 23:32She was going to sit outside for three hours. And he's in high school.
- 23:35And eventually what had happened is this video went pretty viral of him throwing
- 23:40up all over our studio wall.
- 23:42And it got to the point where he went to school and took a whole bunch of grief from fellow students.
- 23:47But then it got so bad that people started calling his parents home.
- 23:52They had a landline at the time.
- 23:54And this is like 11 o'clock at night. And they would answer.
- 23:57They'd go, hello and people just go and apparently
- 24:01this happened so much that mom and dad had
- 24:03contacted our boss and said hey is there any way you guys
- 24:06could take that down and by the time we looked to take it down
- 24:09i mean it had hundreds of thousands of views but now we look back and we can
- 24:13laugh oh it was so funny and he's married he's moved on with life you know normally
- 24:18when something like that happens in adolescence that like will stunt you or
- 24:23bring you down the wrong path but i mean he good guy.
- 24:28I mean, the poor parents, they're just like, oh, it's such a traumatic thing for the kid.
- 24:33And then everyone's calling and I felt bad about it and we took it down.
- 24:36But I remember digging in too when our boss pulls us in the office.
- 24:40I'm like, hey, that's our video. It's getting tons of hits. And then he finally goes,
- 24:45do the right thing. And I'm like, all right, we'll take it down.
- 24:48So that's the big anniversary today, the day anniversary of the wall throw-offs.
- 24:52A couple in Iowa has created a new type of non-alcoholic mocktails.
- 24:57Mocktails are a big thing right now. People are drinking less than ever,
- 25:01and they just want to focus on more healthier options, like incorporating mushrooms.
- 25:06Of us being in that sober and sober curious category, we like,
- 25:09well, we'd still want like something fun to drink because I'm tired of carrying
- 25:12around water or like a pop or poppy or whatever it was.
- 25:16We were kind of trying to bridge that gap between just any beverages like a beer or a wine.
- 25:21And then, you know, THC beverages are another really big one right now versus
- 25:25this is not really giving you any sort of psychoactive effect.
- 25:28Sober curious. That's the first time I've heard that term. I know.
- 25:31I don't like it. You mean like when you wake up? So you want to feel like he mentioned poppy.
- 25:37Have you ever tried poppy? Does Trisha drink poppy? It's really good
- 25:40for your gut it has probiotics yeah i know what you're talking about she's
- 25:43had that before so the husband and wife the
- 25:46owners and creators of that just sold it to pepsi for
- 25:49how much do you think i mean they're good 10 million
- 25:52for life 1.9 billion dollars they
- 25:55sold that line because everybody is drinking
- 25:58it so um yeah it's just another option out
- 26:02there amongst so many options of drinks this
- 26:05squirrel and squirrels uh uh him
- 26:08and all of his friends they are wreaking havoc in a
- 26:11town in california and sending people to
- 26:14the emergency room they're just attacking for no reason clomped on to my leg
- 26:18and it was just hanging on his tail was flying up here you know and i was like
- 26:22get off me get off me and i kind of didn't want to touch it well yeah i mean
- 26:26that's one of the victims most girls understand english so if you tell them
- 26:29to get off you they usually react that way.
- 26:31They go back to the tree. They're like, well, did she tell you to get off her?
- 26:34Yeah, she did, multiple times. She's a savage. Yeah.
