- 2:28[SPEAKER_01]: Get that win on the road, start things out.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_01]: Hot, keep that street.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_01]: We just won three in a row to beat the White Sox in the ALDS.
- 2:37[SPEAKER_01]: Just keep the winning going.
- 2:38[SPEAKER_01]: Keep the bats alive.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_01]: That's the big things.
- 2:40[SPEAKER_01]: Our pitching is really good.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_01]: Gotta keep the bats alive if we're going to pull this one out.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_01]: But three wins, baby.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_01]: Three wins away from the world series.
- 2:47[SPEAKER_01]: Unfortunately, we can't talk about a Browns victory over the weekend.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_01]: We can talk about the buck guys.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_01]: The guardians a couple wins here now.
- 2:55[SPEAKER_01]: We got the coarser today.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_01]: We got all kinds of stuff to be happy about.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_01]: Except for the Browns, we were on a three game win streak there.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_01]: with winds over Tampa Bay, Carolina, Pittsburgh, who's still for whatever reason can't get over that loss, goofy fan base over there and Pittsburgh.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_01]: Goofy people, but I don't know guys, you know, I've talked, and we're going to dive into some deeper metrics about the game.

- 4:32[SPEAKER_01]: But join the dogs.com if you guys are interested in all that.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_01]: So,
- 4:37[SPEAKER_01]: Before we dive too deep here into this unfortunate loss to the jets, I gotta make sure I emphasize that there are major team issues with the Browns right now.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, we're not gonna heat blame on any one person or anyone coach or anything like that.
- 4:54[SPEAKER_01]: This is a collective effort to lose that game.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_01]: It's a collective, the trend of this team that I was worried about for a while now.
- 5:05[SPEAKER_01]: It's a collective effort.
- 5:06[SPEAKER_01]: It's not any one person.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_01]: We'll talk about each component of it.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_01]: And most of them are on the offensive side of the ball.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_01]: We'll just go right to it.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_01]: I've gripped about it for weeks.
- 5:17[SPEAKER_01]: Some people out there have given me crap.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_01]: Probably not a ton of you guys.
- 5:20[SPEAKER_01]: I think you guys watching this show listening fall on the show, understand and and watch the game with an understanding of, okay, we're winning these games.
- 5:27[SPEAKER_01]: But
- 5:29[SPEAKER_01]: It's not because we're playing excellent.
- 5:32[SPEAKER_01]: We're kind of getting lucky here.
- 5:33[SPEAKER_01]: And again, some people have given me a lot of crap the last couple of weeks.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_01]: Why can't you just enjoy the wins?
- 5:39[SPEAKER_01]: You're a hater, you just like being negative.
- 5:42[SPEAKER_01]: Blah, blah, blah, listen.
- 5:44[SPEAKER_01]: The Browns were winning tight games.
- 5:46[SPEAKER_01]: Despite some very concerning things on offense, and I told you guys it was only a matter of time until those close wins started turning into close losses.
- 5:55[SPEAKER_01]: And we got the first one of those on Sunday.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_01]: So what's the biggest problem?
- 5:59[SPEAKER_01]: say it with me everybody if you're in the car you're at the gym in the kitchen wherever wherever you're watching you're listening let's go say it with me what's the biggest efficiency in this brown's offense right now one two three we can't run the freaking ball we have no run game it's
- 6:16[SPEAKER_01]: It is absolutely awful watching this team try to run the ball.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_01]: I posted it on a during the game on social media that I said watching the Browns attempt to run the ball is such an unpleasant experience right now.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_01]: It's just gross gross watching them try and it fails every time.
- 6:35[SPEAKER_01]: It's bad and we'll talk about it.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to talk about it.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_01]: So far this season, the Browns, they're running back.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_01]: So I saw some people posting like, here's the Browns running, rushing stats through the first four or five games, whatever.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_01]: You got to take out to Sean Watson's rushing from the equation.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_01]: Those are not designed runs.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_01]: Those are scrambles for the most part, where he's breaking out of the pocket, broken plays, or just running because he first reads covered.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_01]: We'll talk about him in a little bit.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_01]: So you got to take to Sean Watson's rushing statistics out of the equation because those are not designed run plays.
- 7:11[SPEAKER_01]: It's our designed run game that sucks, sucks, sucks, sucks, okay.
- 7:17[SPEAKER_01]: Running backs for the Brown so far through five games, 84 carries.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_01]: 295 yards.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_01]: That's 3.5 yards per carry, which is a little bit higher than what I think most of us would probably expect.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_01]: Having watched these games, you can remember one of those carries was a 17-yard run by Rahim Sanders.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_01]: Another one was a 20, what was it?
- 7:35[SPEAKER_01]: 28 yards, scamper by Jilliel McLaughlin.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_01]: So a couple big plays, none of them by Quinn Sean, by the way.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_01]: And that's boosting that 3.5 yards per carry, which honestly is pretty pathetic in and of itself.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_01]: just two total rushing touchdowns for the Browns this season.
- 7:53[SPEAKER_01]: Both of them in that Pittsburgh game.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_01]: So, I mean, you've gone four other games this year without a rushing touchdown.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_01]: It's tough, man.
- 8:03[SPEAKER_01]: It's tough.
- 8:03[SPEAKER_01]: We're averaging just 59 running back yards.
- 8:07[SPEAKER_01]: Okay?
- 8:08[SPEAKER_01]: Per game.
- 8:10[SPEAKER_01]: That's back.
- 8:12[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know how this team won through you straight games guys playing like that.
- 8:14[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_01]: I just, it's crazy.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_01]: Things bound start way, things went our way.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_01]: You know, Todd Monk had said his press conference last week.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, things have gone our way, but things could just as easily not go our way.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_01]: We need to be able to put ourselves in position where we're not, games aren't being decided at the end whether or not one or two things go our way or not.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_01]: And Sunday, we just didn't do that.
- 8:38[SPEAKER_01]: We put ourselves in a position where everything had to go our way at the end.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_01]: And instead of anything going our way, everything except for the force fumble by Carson, Swiss and Drew, everything else went against us.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_01]: And I detailed that pretty heavily on a short video of the other day.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_01]: We shot ourselves in the foot over and over.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe I'll run through that breakdown here in a second, but going back to the run game, okay?
- 9:01[SPEAKER_01]: Now, I think this is a good spot.
- 9:03[SPEAKER_01]: Let's insert some Brown's news from Monday.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_01]: The Browns have added yet another running back to the roster.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_01]: They signed, you guys probably recognize this name if you've been around the team for a while, Audrick Estime from the Minnesota Vikings Practice Squad and they signed him to the active roster.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_01]: Now,
- 9:21[SPEAKER_01]: We'll talk about that here in a minute, but here's a brief overview of Audrick estimate for those who aren't familiar, 6-1, about 230 pounds, 225 pounds, something like that.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_01]: Big, big bruising back, okay, if you guys recall coming out of Notre Dame, so he was from Notre Dame drafted in the fifth round by the Denver Broncos back in 2024.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_01]: So far in his career, I'll go through some stats a little bit more specifically, but 122 career carries over really just one season.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_01]: Well, again, I'll talk about it.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_01]: But 508 yards, three touchdowns, top 30 visit.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_01]: This is the big thing for object estimate because this is a guy that browns were very much into.
- 10:01[SPEAKER_01]: heading into that 2024 draft if you recall.
- 10:04[SPEAKER_01]: Again, top 30 visit.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_01]: They brought him in.
- 10:06[SPEAKER_01]: They met with him.
- 10:07[SPEAKER_01]: I think it was at the combine or was the senior boy I can't remember now.
- 10:10[SPEAKER_01]: But either way, they met with him and they brought him in.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_01]: And it looked like this is a guy that Browns may be looking to draft.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_01]: They ended up not getting him whether they planned to a little bit later.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_01]: And the Broncos took him sooner or whatever.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_01]: The case may be the Browns were rumored
- 10:30[SPEAKER_01]: and then we ended up not bringing him in.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_01]: I forget he went to the Saints I believe, right?
- 10:36[SPEAKER_01]: Either way, this is a guy that has had a connection with the Browns.
- 10:38[SPEAKER_01]: There's been some mutual interests there in the past, so now they are signing him to their active roster.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_01]: Now, why is that important?
- 10:47[SPEAKER_01]: Well, we got a couple banged up running backs, and I don't know the severity of these injuries, but Raheem Sanders left Sunday's gaming as the judge for the hip injury, and then Quintchon Judkins was banged up in that game, finished the game, but left the locker room Sunday in a walking boot, Todd Munkin, on Monday said that Judkins is considered day two day.
- 11:12[SPEAKER_01]: And they talked about Dylan Samson, who I saw a couple of conflicting reports.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_01]: I saw that his practice window was being opened, but then the most of the reports, and I think what Monk and actually said, is they might open Dylan Samson's practice windows.
- 11:25[SPEAKER_01]: So nothing confirmed there yet, whether or not, you know, Samson's been on IR since week one with a knee injury.
- 11:31[SPEAKER_01]: And it sucks, because he's a guy that we really could use in our offense.
- 11:34[SPEAKER_01]: We could use some of his skillset, the quick burst, the speed, and everything.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_01]: Try to give you things up a little bit from what we've been doing.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_01]: I'll get into the run game here in a minute.
- 11:43[SPEAKER_01]: I got an article here by LaCharles Bentley, a sub-steck that he posted.
- 11:46[SPEAKER_01]: I really liked the breakdown because it reiterates what I've listened to and read from Jake Burns, Browns, Film Breakdown, and from our own Mac Blank, who comes on the show here and talks about his film breakdown.
- 11:57[SPEAKER_01]: So everybody who breaks down the film is coming to the same conclusion here about the Browns run game.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_01]: So I'll dive into that here in a second.
- 12:04[SPEAKER_01]: But I'm just, I like this addition of Audrey Gastomay.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_01]: Now, we can go through real quick, talk about him.
- 12:10[SPEAKER_01]: So as some may he started his NFL career in Denver, like I said, started out his rookie season, actually on injury reserve, got hurt, came back to the act of roster a month later in October, didn't score his first touchdown until week 16, that first season there with the Broncos.
- 12:26[SPEAKER_01]: Let me see, 76 carries three hundred ten yards and two touchdowns.
- 12:31[SPEAKER_01]: Let's see, then he got waved last year.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_01]: twenty twenty five as part of roster cut downs.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_01]: He was on the roster there would jilly muck lawflin which is interesting because now we have both of those former Denver Broncos running backs on our roster and they might be playing side by side.
- 12:51[SPEAKER_01]: On the active roster here this week depending on how Sanders and Judkins are coming with their injuries.
- 12:57[SPEAKER_01]: But then they the Broncos signed J. K. Dobbins and it's just like
- 13:04[SPEAKER_01]: sign with the Eagles practice squad and then he gets released by the Eagles, then he signs to the Saints practice squad.
- 13:10[SPEAKER_01]: He gets promoted to the active roster in November and let's see, he ended up with 46 carries for 198 yards and one touchdown last year with the Saints.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_01]: And then, as roster cut downs this year, he was waived by the Saints.
- 13:25[SPEAKER_01]: It says with an injury settlement, not sure what that was, obviously he's okay, because he is on our active roster ready to play.
- 13:31[SPEAKER_01]: If we need him, sign to the Vikings practice squad about a week later, and now obviously coming over here to Cleveland onto the active roster.
- 13:38[SPEAKER_01]: If you go back, the big thing I did wanna talk about, and
- 13:42[SPEAKER_01]: You know, there's, there's a lot of really good college football players who come to the NFL and don't do anything.
- 13:47[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I understand that.
- 13:49[SPEAKER_01]: But if you go and you look at what this kid did, and I call him a kid because he's still 23 years old, I believe.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_01]: He's a young player.
- 13:56[SPEAKER_01]: He was freaking fantastic at Notre Dame.
- 14:00[SPEAKER_01]: As a sophomore, his second season there, 156 carries 920 yards, 5.9 a clip for 11 touchdowns.
- 14:09[SPEAKER_01]: He also caught 9 passes for 135 yards and another touchdown.
- 14:12[SPEAKER_01]: And then as a junior, his final season at Notre Dame in 2023, 210 carries 1,341 yards, 6.4 yards a carry with 8 team, 18 touchdowns.
- 14:27[SPEAKER_01]: also caught 17 passes for 142 yards for a back his size.
- 14:32[SPEAKER_01]: That's impressive.
- 14:33[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 14:34[SPEAKER_01]: So what I'm getting at here is do I expect Audrick SMA to, you know, come out here and I don't know, say, say, Judkins is rolled out, standards has to go on IR with a hip thing.
- 14:44[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 14:45[SPEAKER_01]: I have no idea how this week's going to play out for those injuries.
- 14:47[SPEAKER_01]: We'll keep you guys posted.
- 14:49[SPEAKER_01]: But stay, we get a week, six here against the Ravens at home.
- 14:52[SPEAKER_01]: We're Audrick SMA and Jolilo
- 14:57[SPEAKER_01]: I do not expect Arctic estimates to be any good.
- 15:00[SPEAKER_01]: not necessarily because of a lack of talent, but just because of a run game, everything about it sucks.
- 15:07[SPEAKER_01]: Everything.
- 15:07[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think it matters who you plug in back there.
- 15:09[SPEAKER_01]: And a lot of people say, well, get juggins out of there, give them where he standards more carries, guys, I don't think it matters, okay?
- 15:17[SPEAKER_01]: And Audrick estimates, obviously, if his skill set and talent from college was translating very well to the NFL, he would not have spent the last two years on and off practice quads.
- 15:28[SPEAKER_01]: and he wouldn't have been available for us to just pick off somebody's squad and throw on to our roster.
- 15:33[SPEAKER_01]: So I believe the talent is there for Audrey.
- 15:35[SPEAKER_01]: That's to me.
- 15:36[SPEAKER_01]: I am not predicting that it is going to all of a sudden burst into fruition.
- 15:40[SPEAKER_01]: And he's going to be this awesome running bag.
- 15:42[SPEAKER_01]: I think he's going to be a bruiser.
- 15:45[SPEAKER_01]: He's going to be a sledgehammer.
- 15:47[SPEAKER_01]: And I think he can at least
- 15:50[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I think in our running attack, can Audrey Gesson make come out here and average three yards of care?
- 15:55[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think so.
- 15:55[SPEAKER_01]: I think we'll be okay.
- 15:56[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, and that's the part that sucks is like can we just replace the absolute worst production running back production in the NFL with anybody?
- 16:03[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think we can.
- 16:05[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, I think we can.
- 16:06[SPEAKER_01]: Um, and we'll talk about why that's the case right now.
- 16:12[SPEAKER_01]: Um, actually we'll talk about it after a quick break.
- 16:17[SPEAKER_01]: This episode is sponsored by SimplySafe.

- 18:09[SPEAKER_01]: Welcome back.
- 18:10[SPEAKER_01]: Why does the Cleveland Browns running game suck?
- 18:15[SPEAKER_01]: Why do we blow guys?
- 18:16[SPEAKER_01]: Why, why, why, why?
- 18:17[SPEAKER_01]: Why is it so freaking bad?
- 18:22[SPEAKER_01]: You know, talking to listening, reading, Jake Burns, Mac Blank, there's a, it's a, it's a combination of things.
- 18:31[SPEAKER_01]: Is it a Todd Monk and Scheme problem?
- 18:34[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 18:35[SPEAKER_01]: A run game scheme problem.
- 18:37[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 18:38[SPEAKER_01]: Is it a Quint Sean judge can's problem?
- 18:40[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 18:40[SPEAKER_01]: Is it a run blocking problem?
- 18:42[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 18:43[SPEAKER_01]: Is it a Sean Watson problem?
- 18:45[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, it is.
- 18:47[SPEAKER_01]: Everything is working together to create this massive deficiency in our offense.
- 18:53[SPEAKER_01]: So I love the way that Bentley broke this down, so I'm just going to kind of go through his sub-sack here.
- 18:59[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to read a little bit, talk about it.
- 19:00[SPEAKER_01]: If you guys haven't seen this, I posted it on X, go check out the link if you want to read it for yourself.
- 19:05[SPEAKER_01]: It's very good.
- 19:06[SPEAKER_01]: If you're interested in understanding why, why we can't run it, why our run game is straight ass.
- 19:12[SPEAKER_01]: This is why.
- 19:14[SPEAKER_01]: He says and I I love this line.
- 19:16[SPEAKER_01]: I don't believe Judkins is suddenly forgotten how to run the football.
- 19:19[SPEAKER_01]: I agree Said this on the live show Sunday night I saw Quintion Judkins be really freaking impressive as a rookie just a year ago What is the difference
- 19:31[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, he's coming off the injury.
- 19:32[SPEAKER_01]: I do think that's part of the issue here.
- 19:34[SPEAKER_01]: I do think he's, it's a combo for judgekins, like with everything here.
- 19:38[SPEAKER_01]: Everything's a combination.
- 19:39[SPEAKER_01]: There's no one single answer that you fix that, everything's solved.
- 19:42[SPEAKER_01]: That's not the case.
- 19:42[SPEAKER_01]: We've got a big issue here.
- 19:45[SPEAKER_01]: Looking at Quintoshan judgekins individually, you've got a situation where he's still learning to trust that leg.
- 19:53[SPEAKER_01]: after that really grew some injury at the end of the season last year.
- 19:56[SPEAKER_01]: He made a quick recovery guys.
- 19:58[SPEAKER_01]: You got to understand, the surgery, the recovery getting back to full strength to actually be a full-time running back to start the season.
- 20:06[SPEAKER_01]: If you go back and you listen to me during the off season,
- 20:11[SPEAKER_01]: doubted it.
- 20:11[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't think he would be maybe even.
- 20:14[SPEAKER_01]: I thought maybe starting the season on the pup for the first four weeks or so and then getting eased back into it.
- 20:18[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe the second half of the season, you would see him finally become the bell cow featured back again.
- 20:25[SPEAKER_01]: He was that right out of the gate week one.
- 20:27[SPEAKER_01]: I would have never, ever predicted that to happen based on the timeline of the injury and just the history of guys coming back from that sort of thing.
- 20:35[SPEAKER_01]: I think he's still learning how to trust.
- 20:38[SPEAKER_01]: His abilities, his leg, his strength.
- 20:41[SPEAKER_01]: You gotta remember, and this isn't madden.
- 20:44[SPEAKER_01]: When a guy is back from injury and madden, you just sticking back in, the attributes are all right back to where they were before the injury and you can just play with that player exactly the same as you did before.
- 20:55[SPEAKER_01]: That is not real life, that is not the human element.
- 20:57[SPEAKER_01]: This guy is still learning how to work on that leg.
- 21:00[SPEAKER_01]: And the other thing is he's still trying to figure out and learn how to trust and read and play with these five brand-new alignment that are in front of him.
- 21:08[SPEAKER_01]: Who are all five trying to learn how to play in this new scheme with each other?
- 21:12[SPEAKER_01]: It, that all, you know, comes factors into how big of a match this has become early in the season.
- 21:18[SPEAKER_01]: But the next line here Bentley says, Noor, do I believe that Cleveland's offensive Lyman have collectively forgotten how to block?
- 21:25[SPEAKER_01]: But when a talented running back consistently struggles to generate production, we have to examine more than just the individual players who are involved, okay?
- 21:35[SPEAKER_01]: He says, we got to look at the environment in which they're being asked to perform.
- 21:40[SPEAKER_01]: And he says, that comes down now to the offensive formations.
- 21:45[SPEAKER_01]: He says, when you go back and you look just at all the carries against the jets, nearly every single carry from that game, the Sean Watson was in the shotgun with Quinshawn Judd, Kim's aligned right beside him, and what is called the sidecar position.
- 22:00[SPEAKER_01]: Now real quick, if you go, I talked about this on Sunday night, they haven't updated it yet.
- 22:05[SPEAKER_01]: And that's okay.
- 22:07[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sure the number couldn't be any lower.
- 22:09[SPEAKER_01]: It's probably just higher now.
- 22:11[SPEAKER_01]: Through the first four weeks and nothing changed in week five, the Cleveland Browns are at the top of the league in shotgun formation rate, 72% of our plays are running the shotgun, like Blake.
- 22:23[SPEAKER_01]: Try to say on Sunday night, again, the stats show that it's not true, but some people might think,
- 22:29[SPEAKER_01]: Well, it's the way the NFL's run now.
- 22:31[SPEAKER_01]: Most guys, most teams operate out of the shotgun, not true.
- 22:34[SPEAKER_01]: We are clearly way ahead of everybody else at 72% a lot of teams.
- 22:39[SPEAKER_01]: Like the bottom end of this, the San Francisco 49ers run 44% out of shotgun.
- 22:44[SPEAKER_01]: So worth what 30% more or so.
- 22:50[SPEAKER_01]: then the lowest team.
- 22:52[SPEAKER_01]: And then a lot of teams I would say most teams are anywhere from that 44% up to 55% shotgun.
- 23:03[SPEAKER_01]: Then teetering in the like that 60% range, but man, the Browns are super high up here at 72%.
- 23:10[SPEAKER_01]: Running out of the shotgun, I've seen a lot of people.
- 23:13[SPEAKER_01]: Complaining about that online and I've seen some people try to push back on it.
- 23:17[SPEAKER_01]: Like, oh, that doesn't matter.
- 23:18[SPEAKER_01]: It absolutely does matter.
- 23:20[SPEAKER_01]: I will tell you that right now.
- 23:22[SPEAKER_01]: Running damn near every play out of the shotgun,
- 23:25[SPEAKER_01]: Definitely impacts the effectiveness of the run game, and here is exactly why.
- 23:30[SPEAKER_01]: Going back to this article from Bentley says there's absolutely nothing inherently wrong with running the football from the shotgun.
- 23:37[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not saying it's wrong, but he says plenty of teams can do it successfully.
- 23:42[SPEAKER_01]: Some of the most productive rushing offenses in football have incorporated shotgun runs into their identities.
- 23:46[SPEAKER_01]: But here's the distinction that sets the Browns apart.
- 23:50[SPEAKER_01]: Those offenses typically incorporate additional elements that manipulate the defenders.
- 23:57[SPEAKER_01]: They incorporate things that change the angles of attack, create uncertainty about where the football is going Cleveland doesn't do any of that.
- 24:05[SPEAKER_01]: When the running back is what he says, when the running back consistently aligns right beside the quarterback in the formation and the offense repeatedly uses similar backfield action.
- 24:15[SPEAKER_01]: The defenders throughout a game, pretty easy to figure out patterns.
- 24:19[SPEAKER_01]: And if you're watching Tate from the week before, you already know those patterns and how to identify them, coming into it.
- 24:26[SPEAKER_01]: Now, depending on the concept, the running backs alignment can provide a very early indication of where the football is likely going to be headed on that play, and you see that time and time again where we're just getting stuff, because the defense knows what we're going to do.
- 24:39[SPEAKER_01]: Now he says not every sidecar run, obviously, they don't all go in the same direction, but when an offense becomes predictable in how it uses these formations, the defense doesn't have to spend any time figuring out what's going on on a play.
- 24:51[SPEAKER_01]: They just react, boom, plays over.
- 24:54[SPEAKER_01]: And that is the problem here.
- 24:56[SPEAKER_01]: We gotta be creating uncertainty for the defense.
- 25:00[SPEAKER_01]: We allow, on our offense, we allow the opposing defense to play with absolute clarity about what is coming their way.
- 25:08[SPEAKER_01]: So he says when Watson is standing in the shotgun with Judkins inside car, the hand-off takes place, directly within the linebackers field of vision.
- 25:15[SPEAKER_01]: This is something I hear everybody gripping about online and you are right.
- 25:19[SPEAKER_01]: If you're bitching about this, keep bitching about it.
- 25:22[SPEAKER_01]: This is the problem.
- 25:25[SPEAKER_01]: All right, so instead of just reading through everything that he wrote here, I'm just going to break down and summarize what I read from him earlier, but you're standing the quarterback is five yards behind the line of scrimmage.
- 25:36[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 25:38[SPEAKER_01]: The defense can clearly see quarterback.
- 25:42[SPEAKER_01]: And there goes my mic, sitting right beside him, running back.
- 25:45[SPEAKER_01]: So when you snap and you go to hand off, guess what is in clear, clear line of sight for the linebackers and the defenders?
- 25:53[SPEAKER_01]: Where the frickin' ball is?
- 25:56[SPEAKER_01]: Right there, they can see what's happening, okay?
- 26:01[SPEAKER_01]: When you line up under center and you snap the ball and the quarterback turns his back.
- 26:06[SPEAKER_01]: to the defense, whether it's to extend for the ball then to hand off or extend the ball to a play fake and then tuck it back in, roll out and you know, do your play action pass.
- 26:17[SPEAKER_01]: It causes hesitation on the defense because they can't see what's happening.
- 26:22[SPEAKER_01]: They can't see the ball.
- 26:24[SPEAKER_01]: Is it a run?
- 26:25[SPEAKER_01]: Is it a play fake?
- 26:25[SPEAKER_01]: Is he dropping back to pass?
- 26:27[SPEAKER_01]: We don't know.
- 26:27[SPEAKER_01]: And the thing is we're talking, we're talking
- 26:31[SPEAKER_01]: fractions of a second.
- 26:32[SPEAKER_01]: We're not saying this is going to create two seconds of, you know, hesitancy on the deep, and we're talking fractions of a second.
- 26:39[SPEAKER_01]: This is the NFL.
- 26:40[SPEAKER_01]: These are the best football players in the world elite level athletes.
- 26:46[SPEAKER_01]: The reaction time is so fast that if you can cause hesitation for a fraction of a second,
- 26:51[SPEAKER_01]: That gives, you know, Jerry Judy, a fraction of a second to get open or that gives the offensive line a fraction of a second to create just enough push to widen that lane that opening maybe maybe it was six inches and now it's 10 and that's just enough for judges to slide through and break away like that.
- 27:12[SPEAKER_01]: They say football is a game of inches, guys.
- 27:13[SPEAKER_01]: And it really is.
- 27:14[SPEAKER_01]: We all know that.
- 27:16[SPEAKER_01]: And this is what we're talking about.
- 27:17[SPEAKER_01]: So when you're in the shotgun, and you're trying to hand off five yards behind the line and scream as first of all.
- 27:23[SPEAKER_01]: And this is all stuck.
- 27:23[SPEAKER_01]: And like I'm not trying to give you my expertise on this.
- 27:26[SPEAKER_01]: This is all coming from what I've been reading from Lacharles Bentley here, Jake Burns, Mac Blank.
- 27:31[SPEAKER_01]: Like the guys that I go to for the expertise on this stuff, I'm trying to facilitate it and filter it out to you guys.
- 27:36[SPEAKER_01]: But you're offensive line.
- 27:40[SPEAKER_01]: as soon as that ball is snapped, they're firing off to their runbox, right?
- 27:45[SPEAKER_01]: Well, they're already getting into their runbox, which you can only hold for a second or so, right?
- 27:51[SPEAKER_01]: It's got to be bang, bang, you've got to be able to hit your block, move your block and the running back has to be gone.
- 27:56[SPEAKER_01]: Like they got to have the ball, hit the line, hit the cut and go.
- 28:00[SPEAKER_01]: Well, out of the shotgun, your offensive line is firing out, hitting their
- 28:09[SPEAKER_01]: The running back is just now getting the ball.
- 28:13[SPEAKER_01]: He's you're getting the snap to the quarterback, the transition from the quarterback to the running back.
- 28:19[SPEAKER_01]: And a lot of these plays are so stupid.
- 28:21[SPEAKER_01]: I saw Jake Burns complaining about this during the game.
- 28:24[SPEAKER_01]: You know, a lot of they're trying to do the zone read stuff where they snap it to the Sean and then he holds it.
- 28:30[SPEAKER_01]: Well, there's a whole second way he's did right there.
- 28:32[SPEAKER_01]: We're trying to figure out, well, let's see, maybe I'm gonna hand it off to Judkins or maybe I'm gonna pull it and run it myself.
- 28:38[SPEAKER_01]: Dude, you are given the defense so much time and Jake's big thing is you can't run that zone read play effectively when the quarterback can't read it right to Sean Watson keeps handed off to Judkins when he should be pulling it.
- 28:52[SPEAKER_01]: He's getting blown up in the backfield on those plays.
- 28:55[SPEAKER_01]: Like those are absolutely wasted plays because the Sean Watson and like I said, this is a whole team effort to Sean Watson's he's got blame in this.
- 29:02[SPEAKER_01]: He can't read the
- 29:07[SPEAKER_01]: We're going back to just the overall philosophy, the formation, running everything out of shotgun is really killing us, because we're not good at it, we're not good at it.
- 29:19[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, this is straight out of the article here, Bentley says, the offensive linemen are trying to establish leverage, trying to create movement and sustain their blocks, while the running back is still working toward the point of attack, he's not even there yet.
- 29:34[SPEAKER_01]: It's so frustrating.
- 29:35[SPEAKER_01]: It says on combination blocks the timing becomes even more important.
- 29:38[SPEAKER_01]: You got two offensive linemen are working together to secure one defensive linemen, while accounting for a linebacker, who may not even be scraping toward the football because linebacker is patiently already following the running backs path.
- 29:52[SPEAKER_01]: And then if the running back, his track doesn't threaten the line of scrimmage at the right time, the line back has additional time and opportunity to react.
- 29:59[SPEAKER_01]: The offensive line that may be forced to sustain their blocks longer.
- 30:03[SPEAKER_01]: And it's, this is probably my favorite thing that he says in here, because people will say, well, that is the offensive lines job is to sustain their block.
- 30:15[SPEAKER_01]: They're supposed to block.
- 30:17[SPEAKER_01]: And he says yes, that is correct, but it's also the job of a fireman to put out fires that doesn't mean we should go around the city setting shit on fire just because we know somebody will come and put them out.
- 30:30[SPEAKER_01]: He says the offense is creating unnecessary fires and expecting the offensive line to just put him out.
- 30:37[SPEAKER_01]: And when the blocks eventually break down, we point to the offensive linemen or the tight ends running backs or whatever and say, why couldn't you hold up on that play?
- 30:47[SPEAKER_01]: And sometimes the better question is, why were they put into that position in the first place?
- 30:53[SPEAKER_01]: Another thing he talks about here,
- 30:55[SPEAKER_01]: He says I don't like them using wide receivers, motioning into the box to become lead blockers.
- 31:01[SPEAKER_01]: We've seen them do this.
- 31:03[SPEAKER_01]: Let's see, Sunday, it was Malachi Corley primarily.
- 31:05[SPEAKER_01]: Again, there's so many tells in this offense.
- 31:07[SPEAKER_01]: You motion Malachi Corley into the back field from outwide.
- 31:11[SPEAKER_01]: All right, well, if he's coming from right to left, well, they're running to the left gap.
- 31:15[SPEAKER_01]: because he's going to come in here as a lead block.
- 31:17[SPEAKER_01]: It's pretty easy to figure out what we're doing.
- 31:19[SPEAKER_01]: We were doing the KC Concepts he owned earlier in the season before he got hurt the other day.
- 31:24[SPEAKER_01]: Why are you putting a small receiver as a lead blocker against a much larger, more powerful physical linebackers?
- 31:34[SPEAKER_01]: You're just asking for shit to go wrong.
- 31:37[SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't make any sense.
- 31:38[SPEAKER_01]: He says, you know, I understand that motion can change the defensive picture, creates additional gaps, provides some numerical advantage for the offense, but there's a difference between using motion to create leverage, and asking a wide receiver to perform a job that offensive linemen and tight ends are built to do.
- 31:55[SPEAKER_01]: And then the biggest point here for me says more importantly, motioning a receiver toward the formation.
- 32:00[SPEAKER_01]: does not automatically improve your blocking number.
- 32:03[SPEAKER_01]: So bringing Malachi Corley through the backfield to come through as a lead blocker, that doesn't necessarily help us because sometimes what does it do?
- 32:13[SPEAKER_01]: Brings another defender following the motion into the frickin' box.
- 32:22[SPEAKER_01]: He says that the defense adjusts to the motion by just bringing an additional player into the box.
- 32:27[SPEAKER_01]: What have you even accomplished?
- 32:30[SPEAKER_01]: because that defender has the advantage over that smaller white receiver lead blocker.
- 32:36[SPEAKER_01]: You have asked a smaller offense of player to block a bigger defense of player while potentially bring another defender into the congested area already, makes no sense.
- 32:44[SPEAKER_01]: We are not running this offense correctly, it is not being schemeed up properly.
- 32:49[SPEAKER_01]: And then, he says another big issue with the run game were constantly using condensed formations, bringing offensive players inside the numbers without consistently presenting enough threads outside the numbers.
- 33:04[SPEAKER_01]: He said condensed formations can be effective.
- 33:07[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, there's a reason they exist.
- 33:09[SPEAKER_01]: They create opportunities for crack blocks, good angles, misdirection plays.
- 33:14[SPEAKER_01]: but the formation has to accomplish something.
- 33:16[SPEAKER_01]: When you're struggling around the football, one of the simplest ways to help your offensive line is to make the defense defend more space.
- 33:22[SPEAKER_01]: Spread it out, get guys out of the box.
- 33:24[SPEAKER_01]: Get players out, make them cover, make them go out wide.
- 33:28[SPEAKER_01]: And he says, why make 11 defenders responsible for less space?
- 33:31[SPEAKER_01]: When you have an entire football field available to use.
- 33:35[SPEAKER_01]: So if we're having a lot of congestion, trying to run the ball of them is spread the frickin' formation out,
- 33:43[SPEAKER_01]: Try to stretch the defense out a little bit, maybe we get a little bit of a running lane, a little bit of crease little separation, something, but he's watching the film and saying listen guys, you're using condensed formations way too much to try to run the ball.
- 33:56[SPEAKER_01]: You're hurting yourself in the run game.
- 34:00[SPEAKER_01]: And now we can move into the conversation about the Sean Watson.
- 34:07[SPEAKER_01]: This episode is sponsored by Dash Dog Food.

- 35:48[SPEAKER_01]: And like he says, this is probably one of the more uncomfortable parts of the discussion.
- 35:51[SPEAKER_01]: I don't really care about whether we're having comfortable discussions about the Sean Watson or not.
- 35:54[SPEAKER_01]: We just need to talk about it.
- 35:56[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know why there are some in the fan base.
- 35:59[SPEAKER_01]: There are some in the media on the team that want to cuddle this guy.
- 36:03[SPEAKER_01]: No.
- 36:03[SPEAKER_01]: Listen, I don't.
- 36:05[SPEAKER_01]: I don't do that, okay?
- 36:06[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not coddling anybody.
- 36:08[SPEAKER_01]: He says, Bentley, I think Cleveland is spending too much time trying to make to Sean Watson comfortable.
- 36:15[SPEAKER_01]: Watson has historically preferred operating from the shotgun.
- 36:18[SPEAKER_01]: That's where he enjoys success at Clemson.
- 36:21[SPEAKER_01]: It's where he played some of his best football in Houston.
- 36:23[SPEAKER_01]: he says the big thing here.
- 36:25[SPEAKER_01]: I understand it, but the game has changed when Watson was establishing himself as one of the league's most exciting young quarterbacks defenses were still adjusting to the proliferation of college-style spread concepts, RPOs, quarterbacks who could threaten defenses with both their arms and their legs.
- 36:43[SPEAKER_01]: Now you guys got to remember this, okay?
- 36:46[SPEAKER_01]: And I keep saying you guys is like
- 36:49[SPEAKER_01]: the long time like the the diehard listeners and followers of this show you guys I know you know this okay you guys all get this When I say a lot like you got like brown spans in general out there like you got to understand When Deshawn Watson was awesome for the Houston Texans.
- 37:05[SPEAKER_01]: I was almost a decade ago Okay, we're talking 2017 when he came out as a rookie.
- 37:10[SPEAKER_01]: That's almost a decade ago guys Yes, the NFL has changed okay back then
- 37:17[SPEAKER_01]: 10 years ago, it was still a new thing to have these college dial spread offences, starting to come into the NFL, the RPO thing that it was like, that was a big, oh, this is different.
- 37:28[SPEAKER_01]: You know, is this actually going to work the NFL, blah, blah, blah, blah.
- 37:32[SPEAKER_01]: It's been 10 years, defenses know how to do this stuff now.
- 37:35[SPEAKER_01]: They know how to adjust, they know how to defend it.
- 37:37[SPEAKER_01]: They know how to stop it.
- 37:38[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, you almost like it's like you took the Sean Watson and the time machine and took him out of a period in history where what he was good at what what he excelled in the type of offense and then you just transported him into the now and all of a sudden that type of offense is no longer good like or no longer new it's it's not a mystery to anybody out there on how to stop this stuff.
- 38:04[SPEAKER_01]: That's what happens when you miss so many years of playing football.
- 38:08[SPEAKER_01]: You don't get the opportunity to grow and adapt with the rest of the league.
- 38:12[SPEAKER_01]: You are really behind time here, really, really behind.
- 38:17[SPEAKER_01]: So again, Bentley, defensive corners.
- 38:20[SPEAKER_01]: They've got the answers now.
- 38:22[SPEAKER_01]: The linemen, they are more disciplined on how they attack these mesh points, linebackers.
- 38:26[SPEAKER_01]: are better prepared to recognize and defend all the spacing created by these types of spread-out offenses.
- 38:32[SPEAKER_01]: The advantage is not the same as it once was.
- 38:36[SPEAKER_01]: And just because Dishon Watson is more comfortable operating from Shotgun does not now give him the advantage that it did when he was younger when this offensive style was newer.
- 38:48[SPEAKER_01]: So he says at the same time here now the question
- 38:56[SPEAKER_01]: Rather than the offense adapting to what the quarterback prefers, that's a big deal here.
- 39:03[SPEAKER_01]: He has a really good example.
- 39:04[SPEAKER_01]: He says, Lamar Jackson operates from under center.
- 39:08[SPEAKER_01]: One of the most dynamic running quarterbacks of the NFL has ever seen, and the coach who helped incorporate under center looks into Baltimore's offense, that's Todd Munkin.
- 39:18[SPEAKER_01]: It says in 2024, Baltimore expanded its use of under-center formations against Buffalo, Jackson lined up under center 22 times.
- 39:25[SPEAKER_01]: In that game, the most Baltimore had recorded in a game since the league began tracking that stuff back in 2022.
- 39:32[SPEAKER_01]: And after the game, Jackson praised the variety of the offense and how Muckin kept the defense honest by mixing, shotgun, under-center runs and play action.
- 39:42[SPEAKER_01]: So, it's not like Todd Munkin doesn't know how to do this.
- 39:46[SPEAKER_01]: It's not like he doesn't understand how to keep a defense honest.
- 39:50[SPEAKER_01]: Why are we not seeing more of it then?
- 39:53[SPEAKER_01]: In Cleveland, you got the same coach you did it with a mobile quarterback before.
- 39:57[SPEAKER_01]: Why are we not seeing it now?
- 39:59[SPEAKER_01]: It's because the Sean Watson can't do it.
- 40:03[SPEAKER_01]: And Bentley even says here, I'm not suggesting Watson has to go under center every single play.
- 40:08[SPEAKER_01]: If the Browns need to be willing to do whatever their running game or whatever gives their running game, the best opportunity to succeed.
- 40:16[SPEAKER_01]: And if that means asking to Sean Watson to become less comfortable in a formation, so be it.
- 40:21[SPEAKER_01]: The offense cannot become a hostage to the quarterback's preferences.
- 40:25[SPEAKER_01]: Boom, that is the Mike drop line right there.
- 40:28[SPEAKER_01]: That is the portable one that I'm going to post on social media as soon as this episode is over.
- 40:32[SPEAKER_01]: The offense cannot become a hostage to the quarterback's preferences.
- 40:36[SPEAKER_01]: That's what you're seeing.
- 40:37[SPEAKER_01]: The Sean Watson cannot play on your center.
- 40:41[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, now I know there's people, oh, he's played on your center before, he's executed plays like that.
- 40:45[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, I'm not saying he can't ever do it.
- 40:47[SPEAKER_01]: I'm saying with any sort of consistency with any sort of comfort and reliability and an offensive game plan to Sean Watson can't do it.
- 40:57[SPEAKER_01]: Can't do it.
- 40:58[SPEAKER_01]: We are being limited in the run game because of the limitations of our quarterback.
- 41:05[SPEAKER_01]: That's the truth.
- 41:07[SPEAKER_01]: That is the truth.
- 41:07[SPEAKER_01]: So when you see people out there saying the Browns are running primarily out of shotgun because that's what the Sean Watson's comfortable with because he's not comfortable running under center.
- 41:15[SPEAKER_01]: We're limiting ourselves because of him.
- 41:19[SPEAKER_01]: Those people are right.
- 41:22[SPEAKER_01]: Which I guess is a good point where I can transition a little bit now into some other issues with our offense.
- 41:29[SPEAKER_01]: So that's that's that's the run game right there, you know, I hope let me know guys in the comments did I explain that well enough did I break that down okay do you have questions about what we're seeing all that kind of stuff because I'm happy to talk about it We need to talk about it.
- 41:46[SPEAKER_01]: It needs to be discussed and it needs to be fixed
- 41:50[SPEAKER_01]: because this team will not win games, okay?
- 41:54[SPEAKER_01]: I know we got lucky in one, three straight games, close games, our defense is playing awesome.
- 41:59[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not gonna talk too much about the defense in this episode because there's not major issues, glaring issues with the defense.
- 42:07[SPEAKER_01]: This offense needs frickin' work, man.
- 42:10[SPEAKER_01]: And it's the run game.
- 42:11[SPEAKER_01]: So let me know if you guys have questions about that.
- 42:13[SPEAKER_01]: I wanna talk about some of this pressure
- 42:16[SPEAKER_01]: That the offensive line, you know, everyone's talking about how the offensive line played terrible in that game and they just couldn't handle the past rush from New York and all this kind of stuff.
- 42:27[SPEAKER_01]: And just like everything with this episode, go back to the top of the show, like I said, so it's a complete team effort.
- 42:32[SPEAKER_01]: There are definitely situations and points of the game and things like that where that's part of the problem.
- 42:39[SPEAKER_01]: And like we did struggle with pressure against New York.
- 42:46[SPEAKER_01]: Let's see, we allowed, so I looking at the PFF data here will open your eyes to how this worked out.
- 42:56[SPEAKER_01]: 12 pressures allowed by the Browns offense, and I say offense because it's not just the O line, you had two pressures allowed by Judkins, one by Whiteharts, two by Jillian McLaughlin.
- 43:09[SPEAKER_01]: So that goes to show that our running backs and our tight ends are not doing a good job in past protection.
- 43:17[SPEAKER_01]: The Browns are going to have to try to figure something out.
- 43:19[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe try to go find a veteran tight end or somebody who can block.
- 43:24[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe we cut Jack's stole from an injury designation, right?
- 43:29[SPEAKER_01]: I believe that's what it was.
- 43:30[SPEAKER_01]: But if he's healthy or something or somebody at the level of play of Jack's stole, you know, we're not sorry.
- 43:38[SPEAKER_01]: We're not looking for a passing game specialist right now as far as like receiving weapons that tight end.
- 43:43[SPEAKER_01]: Give me somebody who can fricking block.
- 43:46[SPEAKER_01]: running backs.
- 43:46[SPEAKER_01]: It's like we got to limit things on this offense because we don't have the person out of do what we want to do.
- 43:51[SPEAKER_01]: So there are issues outside of the offensive line when it comes to blocking that the Browns need to figure out like the the past blocking issue is not exclusive to the O line.
- 44:01[SPEAKER_01]: You got tight ends of running backs who just aren't getting the job done.
- 44:03[SPEAKER_01]: That's part of the problem.
- 44:04[SPEAKER_01]: That's part of the problem.
- 44:05[SPEAKER_01]: That's part of the problem in the run game and it's part of the problem in the passing game here too.
- 44:09[SPEAKER_01]: So 12 pressures,
- 44:12[SPEAKER_01]: Um, I believe, so when I broke down these stats the other day, sometimes if you look at different sections of PFF, they break it down a little bit differently as to what constitutes a pressure and this and that.
- 44:22[SPEAKER_01]: So what I saw, the Sean Watson at 18 dropbacks under pressure.
- 44:30[SPEAKER_01]: So the offensive line, let's see, what did that.
- 44:33[SPEAKER_01]: What does that give us?
- 44:34[SPEAKER_01]: The offensive line allowed, when I say here nine, 10 of those.
- 44:40[SPEAKER_01]: 10 of those pressures.
- 44:41[SPEAKER_01]: That means to Sean Watson was responsible for eight of his own pressures.
- 44:46[SPEAKER_01]: And the offensive line, or I guess the rest of the offense, because Jelial McLaughlin is charged with a sack, the offensive line only gave up two.
- 44:55[SPEAKER_01]: According to PFF here, they're tracking data says that the Juan Jones, who had a rough game, he gave up a sack and Austin Barber gave up a sack.
- 45:10[SPEAKER_01]: Where are those other sacks being credited?
- 45:14[SPEAKER_01]: Look, there's people out there that want to defend him, there's people out there that want to crucify him, just absolutely bury this guy, there's people that want him to succeed.
- 45:26[SPEAKER_01]: I don't care what your agenda is out there, I'm not again, I'm not talking about you guys, I just mean people in general.
- 45:35[SPEAKER_01]: I don't really care what the angle is, you looking at it objectively.
- 45:40[SPEAKER_01]: The Sean Watson was under tremendous pressure in that game.
- 45:45[SPEAKER_01]: If I'm a defensive coordinator, I'm not doing anything different than what the Jets just did.
- 45:51[SPEAKER_01]: I'm Blitzen 76% of the time, which I believe is what the number turned out to be for the Jets.
- 45:58[SPEAKER_01]: I'm bringing the heat because he can't handle it.
- 46:02[SPEAKER_01]: We've seen it.
- 46:02[SPEAKER_01]: We've seen it.
- 46:03[SPEAKER_01]: We've seen a time and time again.
- 46:04[SPEAKER_01]: Now, pressure rattles this guy and the thing with the Sean Watson that really hurts this offense, other than only being able to play out a shotgun, what hurts this offense, what hurts him as a quarterback is he is a one-read quarterback.
- 46:19[SPEAKER_01]: If that first read is not open, the eyes drop.
- 46:25[SPEAKER_01]: He's looking around the pocket at the feet trying to figure out where the escape route is.
- 46:32[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, I'll give him credit on the escape ability.
- 46:35[SPEAKER_01]: He's been much better this season that stepping up in the pocket rather than bailing out backward and trying to run around everybody.
- 46:40[SPEAKER_01]: He ain't fast enough anymore to do that, bud.
- 46:42[SPEAKER_01]: And he knows it, and that's fine.
- 46:45[SPEAKER_01]: Steps up into the pocket, finding the running lanes, finding the escape route to get out and the problem with that is to Sean Watson cannot start looking for his second or third read in the offense until he's out of the pocket.
- 47:02[SPEAKER_01]: He cannot, he cannot read the field.
- 47:07[SPEAKER_01]: He cannot go through progressions while in the pocket while under pressure.
- 47:11[SPEAKER_01]: When there's chaos happening around him, you got to remember, this is the NFL guys.
- 47:14[SPEAKER_01]: Like, football at any level, you drop back to pass, chaos happens instantly because guys are firing at you, linemen are trying to block them away.
- 47:25[SPEAKER_01]: Crap is flying through the air as soon as the ball is snapped.
- 47:28[SPEAKER_01]: You have to be able to play when that stuff is happening around you.
- 47:32[SPEAKER_01]: He cannot.
- 47:33[SPEAKER_01]: So, if the first read on a play is dialed up and it's a slant to Denzel and that slant is covered.
- 47:41[SPEAKER_01]: You know, drop back, see it?
- 47:42[SPEAKER_01]: He's not there.
- 47:44[SPEAKER_01]: How can I get out of this?
- 47:45[SPEAKER_01]: How can I get out of this?
- 47:46[SPEAKER_01]: He's looking, trying to get out of the pocket and then once he's out of the pocket, once he's got a little separation from all the chaos.
- 47:52[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, then he can read the field, find an open guy, get the ball out.
- 47:57[SPEAKER_01]: If you look, anything that's being thrown downfield is being thrown while on the run.
- 48:03[SPEAKER_01]: He's on the move.
- 48:04[SPEAKER_01]: He's never just standing in the pocket, going through progressions, picking up hard to defense.
- 48:08[SPEAKER_01]: That's not what he's able to do.
- 48:12[SPEAKER_01]: It just limits what the offense can do as a whole.
- 48:15[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't know how much longer Cleveland can do this.
- 48:20[SPEAKER_01]: I know last week, you know, you had the article from Marike Cabot talking about, well, if the Sean Watson continues to play well, you know, the Browns are going to look to extend him and and if he gets him to the playoffs, they'll definitely extend him and all this stuff and it's like, why?
- 48:34[SPEAKER_01]: Why?
- 48:34[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want to do this anymore.
- 48:37[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sorry.
- 48:38[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know about you guys.
- 48:39[SPEAKER_01]: Let me know in the comments.
- 48:40[SPEAKER_01]: I just don't want to do this anymore.
- 48:41[SPEAKER_01]: I'm tired of watching a 10 year veteran quarterback struggle with the simple things in an offense.
- 48:47[SPEAKER_01]: He's not going to get any better.
- 48:49[SPEAKER_01]: He's 31 years old, 10th year in the league, the development is done.
- 48:53[SPEAKER_01]: This is not a developing quarterback.
- 48:56[SPEAKER_01]: And one of the big things I see people say all the time online and in comments is, well, that was a $230 million quarterback play.
- 49:03[SPEAKER_01]: I expect, and I've said that to myself, guys.
- 49:05[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm not trying to like, be hypocritical here.
- 49:07[SPEAKER_01]: I have said, we paid him $23 million.
- 49:10[SPEAKER_01]: I expect $230 million play, but the problem with the frustration, if you want to help yourself a little bit with this.
- 49:16[SPEAKER_01]: You got to stop and say this as much to you as I do myself.
- 49:20[SPEAKER_01]: Got to stop looking at the Sean Watson to take $230 million for enterprise quarterback
- 49:26[SPEAKER_01]: The Sean Watson is a veteran, journeyman quarterback.
- 49:30[SPEAKER_01]: If you look at the Sean Watson like he's a, because we haven't had him.
- 49:35[SPEAKER_01]: He didn't even run here last year.
- 49:36[SPEAKER_01]: He wasn't here most of the year before that.
- 49:38[SPEAKER_01]: Wasn't here most of the year before that.
- 49:40[SPEAKER_01]: Or the year before that.
- 49:41[SPEAKER_01]: He's hardly ever been here any of the four years in Cleveland.
- 49:45[SPEAKER_01]: So just imagine we just signed him in free agency for this season as just a stock gap quarterback while we get ready to draft our next guy next year.
- 49:56[SPEAKER_01]: Or we let the rookie should or continue to develop.
- 49:58[SPEAKER_01]: Whatever angle you want to plant in your mind to make it any easier digest what we're watching.
- 50:03[SPEAKER_01]: Just pretend.
- 50:04[SPEAKER_01]: The Sean Watson is a veteran journeyman quarterback that we paid for one year, and that, if you look at him that way, you feel much better about his play.
- 50:14[SPEAKER_01]: Because that's kind of what, I mean, like that would be, okay, we're getting decent veteran journeyman quarterback play.
- 50:19[SPEAKER_01]: Great!
- 50:21[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, no, we're near $230 million franchise quarterback play because that's not what he is.
- 50:25[SPEAKER_01]: It's not whatever he be.
- 50:28[SPEAKER_01]: Just kind of have to move on from that, let it go.
- 50:33[SPEAKER_01]: This episode is sponsored by Kaoshi.
- 50:35[SPEAKER_01]: All right, Browns Vand, you know, we've all messed around with the sports books before, right?
- 50:39[SPEAKER_01]: And let's be honest, you're always kind of playing against the house.
- 50:42[SPEAKER_01]: But with Kaoshi, it's different.
- 50:43[SPEAKER_01]: You're not betting against some sports book.
- 50:46[SPEAKER_01]: You're trading against other real world people.
- 50:49[SPEAKER_01]: There's no house trying to beat you Kaoshi just runs the marketplace.
- 50:53[SPEAKER_01]: So if you think the public is wrong and the Browns can make the playoffs in Todd Munkins first year, or Casey Concepcion, Denzel Boston, one of those guys can win offensive rookie of the year.
- 51:02[SPEAKER_01]: You can take the other side of the market and then if you're right, that's a big payout for you.
- 51:06[SPEAKER_01]: And it's not just sports either.
- 51:07[SPEAKER_01]: You can trade on other real-world stuff, interest rates, inflation, even wild weather outcomes.
- 51:12[SPEAKER_01]: It works like this.
- 51:13[SPEAKER_01]: Simple yes or no markets, your risk is capped up front and your payout is locked in.
- 51:17[SPEAKER_01]: So, if you trust your takes and instincts, and I know you guys do, go check out Cauchy and see what markets are live right now.

- 52:33[SPEAKER_01]: I want to hear what you guys have to say after that game, and we'll just continue the conversation based on what you guys are bringing to the table.
- 52:39[SPEAKER_01]: So let's start with the first one here, Jersey Justin.
- 52:43[SPEAKER_03]: What's up?
- 52:44[SPEAKER_03]: Cheers, you just did hear a game reaction, not so much energy.
- 52:48[SPEAKER_03]: Rough game, you know, weather permit was a tough game with the elements, offensive lines did not play that great.
- 52:55[SPEAKER_03]: I see a bond drop, some passes, you know, but you know, it was very, very wet out there.
- 53:00[SPEAKER_03]: Great catch by, uh, Denzel Boston.
- 53:03[SPEAKER_03]: Hope KC's okay, but bottom line with all that being said.
- 53:07[SPEAKER_03]: We need to get elite great play from our $230 million quarterback bottom line.
- 53:13[SPEAKER_03]: He's walking a thin line.
- 53:14[SPEAKER_03]: There's no ifs ands or buts regarding that factor today, even if you take away how the line played and the elements bottom line is we got mediocre at best game play from him.
- 53:26[SPEAKER_03]: If you really break down that game, how the game was managed.
- 53:30[SPEAKER_03]: that is not a veteran elite 230 million dollar quarterback play.
- 53:34[SPEAKER_03]: We did not get that.
- 53:36[SPEAKER_03]: My wrist is already moved a little notch up.
- 53:38[SPEAKER_03]: The Sean Watson, you need to do better.
- 53:40[SPEAKER_03]: You need to manage that game better, too.
- 53:42[SPEAKER_03]: Anyway, let's go Browns.
- 53:44[SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
- 53:45[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 53:45[SPEAKER_01]: See, and I played these voice emails just as they come in and I don't need to listen to them before the show.
- 53:51[SPEAKER_01]: Justin, just exactly what I just said, man.
- 53:54[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
- 53:54[SPEAKER_01]: That wasn't that couldn't work out any better.
- 53:57[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he's he's not a $230 million veteran quarterback and you're not going to get that out of him.
- 54:03[SPEAKER_01]: It's not going to happen.
- 54:04[SPEAKER_01]: So we got to start looking at him like a veteran journeyman quarterback.
- 54:08[SPEAKER_01]: And we got to start thinking about that as a contract situation too, because again, it's like even with a journeyman.
- 54:14[SPEAKER_01]: It's a one-year stop gap after this year he's gone.
- 54:16[SPEAKER_01]: Well, you have to start looking to Sean Watson like this, because after this year he's gone.
- 54:19[SPEAKER_01]: If they resigned him, they're stupid.
- 54:21[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just going to say that right now.
- 54:22[SPEAKER_01]: They are absolutely freaking morons.
- 54:24[SPEAKER_01]: If they resigned this guy to play more football for us after this year, because I can't take much more of this.
- 54:31[SPEAKER_01]: Justin couldn't agree with the more buddy.
- 54:33[SPEAKER_01]: Couldn't agree with you more.
- 54:34[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you for the voice mail.
- 54:36[SPEAKER_01]: Let's see.
- 54:36[SPEAKER_01]: Who do we got up next?
- 54:37[SPEAKER_01]: My goodness.
- 54:37[SPEAKER_01]: We got more voice mail.
- 54:38[SPEAKER_01]: This is awesome.
- 54:40[SPEAKER_01]: Shivie.
- 54:41[SPEAKER_01]: Let's see what you got to say, bud.
- 54:42[SPEAKER_07]: force in 11.
- 54:44[SPEAKER_07]: Throw the damn ball.
- 54:46[SPEAKER_07]: I don't care if it gets picked.
- 54:49[SPEAKER_07]: At least you're going down trying.
- 54:52[SPEAKER_07]: Just throw it.
- 54:54[SPEAKER_07]: You're not going to pick it up on a force in 11.
- 54:57[SPEAKER_07]: They know your scrambling ability.
- 55:01[SPEAKER_07]: Just fucking throw it up the Boston!
- 55:03[SPEAKER_07]: Oh my god, I'm so mad!
- 55:06[SPEAKER_07]: The play like that at least go down trying.
- 55:09[SPEAKER_07]: Not just give up after that.
- 55:11[SPEAKER_07]: I don't care what this shot did the past three games.
- 55:14[SPEAKER_07]: After that, got to put Chidor in.
- 55:18[SPEAKER_07]: I don't care.
- 55:18[SPEAKER_07]: I don't care.
- 55:20[SPEAKER_07]: Put Chidor in at this point.
- 55:22[SPEAKER_07]: I don't care what he did the past three games.
- 55:25[SPEAKER_07]: Put Chidor in, that was just horrible.
- 55:29[SPEAKER_07]: I'm probably overreacting, but I don't care.
- 55:31[SPEAKER_07]: I saw the deep field.
- 55:34[SPEAKER_07]: There was a lot of one I wanted.
- 55:35[SPEAKER_07]: Just give Boston a chance, dude.
- 55:38[SPEAKER_07]: Oh my god.
- 55:39[SPEAKER_07]: I just don't give up on a play.
- 55:43[SPEAKER_07]: The horrible game either way, throughout.
- 55:47[SPEAKER_07]: I didn't get to watch it.
- 55:48[SPEAKER_07]: We were doing home stuff.
- 55:50[SPEAKER_01]: See ya boys.
- 55:51[SPEAKER_01]: Shivvy, I'm gonna be with you on this one, buddy.
- 55:53[SPEAKER_01]: That you're not overreacting, man.
- 55:55[SPEAKER_01]: When I saw that play at the end of the game,
- 55:58[SPEAKER_01]: At that point in the game, it's over, fourth and eleven, after you just took a delay of game on fourth down, people made fun of me for doing that operations dance.
- 56:12[SPEAKER_01]: You guys see my short video after week one, I did the little operations dance along with Garrett Bush and everything and people have been making fun of me ever since then saying, oh, where's your operations dance now?
- 56:22[SPEAKER_01]: The show on Watson looks pretty good.
- 56:24[SPEAKER_01]: We've had operation problems every freaking game.
- 56:28[SPEAKER_01]: that hasn't changed.
- 56:29[SPEAKER_01]: The Sean Watson has not played good in any game.
- 56:32[SPEAKER_01]: He's played good stretches of games.
- 56:34[SPEAKER_01]: He's not been good in any of these games.
- 56:36[SPEAKER_01]: I've been trying to freaking tell people that.
- 56:39[SPEAKER_01]: Now we see it here on Sunday.
- 56:40[SPEAKER_01]: I'm about to break that operations then it's out again guys because how are you getting a delay of game on fourth and this is the game?
- 56:49[SPEAKER_01]: So you gotta move back five yards now.
- 56:52[SPEAKER_01]: And then on 4th and 11, like you're talking about Chevy here, I saw it like he drops back, he does his super deep 7 to 10 yard drop or whatever.
- 56:59[SPEAKER_01]: So now instead of it being, you know, 4th and 11 from the line of scrimmage, you're 4th and 18 from where he's standing, scramble's out of the pocket because again, can't play in the pocket, can't handle pressure.
- 57:10[SPEAKER_01]: And instead of like you said, man, I think every Browns fan was probably screaming at throw, the F in ball.
- 57:20[SPEAKER_01]: He gets sacked, you scramble, and you get, you don't even get to the line of scrimmage.
- 57:26[SPEAKER_01]: Where the hell did you think you were gonna go?
- 57:28[SPEAKER_01]: Do you think you were gonna get a first down, running the ball?
- 57:33[SPEAKER_01]: And he's running to the sideline.
- 57:34[SPEAKER_01]: Where are you gonna do?
- 57:35[SPEAKER_01]: Go out of balance and stop the clock.
- 57:36[SPEAKER_01]: It's over, and you idiot.
- 57:39[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, man, I'm with you.
- 57:40[SPEAKER_01]: I was very frustrated on that plate.
- 57:42[SPEAKER_01]: Like you're 10 year veteran.
- 57:43[SPEAKER_01]: Like, you know, that's like a rookie mistake.
- 57:46[SPEAKER_01]: That's kind of thing you expect a young quarterback to do and it's like, oh, he'll learn from that.
- 57:49[SPEAKER_01]: No, this guy is old, man.
- 57:51[SPEAKER_01]: He's 31.
- 57:51[SPEAKER_01]: He's been the lead forever.
- 57:52[SPEAKER_01]: He should know better.
- 57:54[SPEAKER_01]: Get me, I'm done, man.
- 57:56[SPEAKER_01]: Like I know he's gonna start, okay?
- 57:58[SPEAKER_01]: I get it.
- 57:58[SPEAKER_01]: I know he's gonna start Shavya is not, should or is not gonna play until he absolutely has to.
- 58:03[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I just don't think the Browns are having interest in making a change.
- 58:08[SPEAKER_01]: So we got to deal with this, but it's just so frustrating.
- 58:11[SPEAKER_01]: Gosh, it's so frustrating.
- 58:12[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you for reminding me, and everybody here of the frustration in that moment of what we were seeing in Malachi, you're next.
- 58:21[SPEAKER_10]: Hey boys, it's Malachi here, tough loss, you know, is what it is.
- 58:26[SPEAKER_10]: You know, I just, I'd like to talk about, you know, how to disappointing the offensive line was today, not just the offensive line as a group.
- 58:32[SPEAKER_10]: It was tight as Howard in the one chance.
- 58:35[SPEAKER_10]: It was awful, hopefully tight as Howard's okay.
- 58:38[SPEAKER_10]: I just, I don't get what we paid him so much money right out of the gate before you didn't play a snap for us.
- 58:42[SPEAKER_10]: It's honestly just, it's unfortunate, man.
- 58:45[SPEAKER_10]: Hopefully Casey is okay, make a Fitzpatrick doing dirty things, shocker, you know.
- 58:49[SPEAKER_10]: Um, but you know, the Browns hurt the Browns today as Todd Munkins would say, we didn't deserve to win today.
- 58:54[SPEAKER_10]: Unfortunately, you know, Dan's all Boston's a beast, you know, to Sean did it did well for what was given to him by his offensive line today.
- 59:02[SPEAKER_10]: You know, I hate it.
- 59:04[SPEAKER_10]: I hate it a lot, but you know, it is what it is.
- 59:07[SPEAKER_10]: And, uh, you know, Go Browns boys, you know, next week we have a chance to turn it around.
- 59:11[SPEAKER_10]: You know, we have a new opportunity, you know,
- 59:13[SPEAKER_10]: just got to go one another every week, you know, and unfortunately we didn't do that this past week, but it is what it is.
- 59:17[SPEAKER_10]: We're going to keep moving on.
- 59:18[SPEAKER_10]: You know, I really like where teams had our defense is amazing.
- 59:21[SPEAKER_10]: So Quincy Williams held an effort by the way.
- 59:25[SPEAKER_10]: So are we coming to get to the homecoming win?
- 59:26[SPEAKER_10]: But it's a tough one, but move on with it.
- 59:29[SPEAKER_10]: You know, Rex and Hairs are a great long snapper.
- 59:31[SPEAKER_10]: Everyone has the f***ed ups, but it is what it is.
- 59:33[SPEAKER_10]: Go Brown's baby.
- 59:34[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, thanks Mallika.
- 59:35[SPEAKER_01]: I got a couple notes here.
- 59:38[SPEAKER_01]: How?
- 59:39[SPEAKER_01]: How awful.
- 59:42[SPEAKER_01]: or the jets and the stealers fan bases.
- 59:45[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if you guys are on X and stuff like that or really any social media.
- 59:50[SPEAKER_01]: But if you go out and you post anything about Mink of Fitzpatrick being dirty immediately, it's like all the jets fans come and call you all kinds of names and everybody's like, all that's a clean hit, there was a stealers man on X and account that posted the hit and said beautiful hit from Mink.
- 1:00:12[SPEAKER_01]: knocking KC concepts on unconscious.
- 1:00:14[SPEAKER_01]: So X is a cesspool of absolutely the worst of human nature.
- 1:00:21[SPEAKER_01]: Like the the dirtiest, nastiest, most vial, just mentally messed up people seem to be very loud on X and they come out of the woodwork.
- 1:00:34[SPEAKER_01]: I think if it's practicing, Patrick needs to be out of the league.
- 1:00:38[SPEAKER_01]: I hate that guy.
- 1:00:40[SPEAKER_01]: can't say enough bad things about him.
- 1:00:43[SPEAKER_01]: I think Blake pretty much took care of it on Sunday night.
- 1:00:45[SPEAKER_10]: Has for the Jets and the thing is, does he play for the Steelers anymore?
- 1:00:50[SPEAKER_01]: Guess, we beat you guys last week, shout-up, shout-up, get out of the comments, go out of the mentions, go worry about another team or something.
- 1:00:58[SPEAKER_01]: My goodness, you guys are still so high on this guy.
- 1:01:00[SPEAKER_01]: Like, it's so stupid.
- 1:01:01[SPEAKER_01]: But anyway, right tackle Malachi.
- 1:01:05[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what we're gonna do, buddy.
- 1:01:06[SPEAKER_01]: We gotta figure something out because,
- 1:01:09[SPEAKER_01]: Titus Howard, you know, I talked to Mac Blank for you guys last week about how, you know, maybe it's time to sit him down.
- 1:01:17[SPEAKER_01]: Let him get healthy.
- 1:01:18[SPEAKER_01]: He's obviously dealing with an injury.
- 1:01:19[SPEAKER_01]: It's impacting what he can do on the field and give to Juan Jones the starts for a temporary period here.
- 1:01:28[SPEAKER_01]: see how he does.
- 1:01:28[SPEAKER_01]: We saw how he does.
- 1:01:30[SPEAKER_01]: We don't need to go that route.
- 1:01:31[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, we got the test.
- 1:01:32[SPEAKER_01]: We got the experiment.
- 1:01:33[SPEAKER_01]: Let's see what the Dwarnt Jones does in a little filling.
- 1:01:35[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe we can afford to sit him down.
- 1:01:38[SPEAKER_01]: We can't play Dwarnt Jones either.
- 1:01:39[SPEAKER_01]: He sucks to what you're doing.
- 1:01:42[SPEAKER_01]: Not Dwight Howard.
- 1:01:43[SPEAKER_01]: Titus Howard, struggling, struggling, struggling.
- 1:01:46[SPEAKER_01]: Do we move Luke Whippler into Senator Elton Jenkins over to right-guard and let Austin Burber play right tackle for a little bit.
- 1:01:51[SPEAKER_01]: I
- 1:01:55[SPEAKER_01]: with the current configuration with players at Ray Tackle is not working.
- 1:02:00[SPEAKER_01]: It is ugly.
- 1:02:01[SPEAKER_01]: Thanks Malikai.
- 1:02:02[SPEAKER_01]: Love hearing from your buddy, Jack.
- 1:02:05[SPEAKER_01]: You're up next.
- 1:02:06[SPEAKER_04]: Hey guys, I just want to say that I thought Sean Watson played a pretty good game like I'm such a drets.
- 1:02:12[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, he was breaking sex, not getting good past protection, no run game, and this for a super square
- 1:02:23[SPEAKER_04]: left and right, I don't know how you get on, Watson, and say he didn't play a good game.
- 1:02:29[SPEAKER_04]: Another thing is I'm not too upset about the loss because I feel KC was going to be a huge part of the jet's game, and once he went out we kind of just couldn't find another way to win.
- 1:02:45[SPEAKER_04]: He's a big part of our offense, it's a big loss, but let me know where you guys think.
- 1:02:51[SPEAKER_01]: Well, first thought, Jack, I mean, if Casey accepts the only such a big part of the Browns offense that as soon as he came out in the first quarter, we were not able to adapt or account for any other way to attack the jet's defense after that.
- 1:03:05[SPEAKER_01]: That's a big issue, especially since he's not going to play against the Ravens.
- 1:03:10[SPEAKER_01]: If he's that big a part of your offense and you can't figure out a way to fill in the blank after he's gone like you're screwed because nobody comes back the week following a concussion, especially when you're knocked unconscious on the field like that.
- 1:03:21[SPEAKER_01]: I wouldn't be surprised if he misses multiple games.
- 1:03:25[SPEAKER_01]: Browns got to figure something out there and listen to your point about the show on Watson.
- 1:03:29[SPEAKER_01]: I hope nobody missed understood what I've been saying in this episode.
- 1:03:34[SPEAKER_01]: What we saw on Sunday, what we've seen from this Brown's offense is not strictly a to Sean Watson problem.
- 1:03:40[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, there were definitely moments credit where credit is due where he got out of sacks where guys had him dead to rights and he just broke the sack.
- 1:03:48[SPEAKER_01]: Got out of the pocket made a play.
- 1:03:50[SPEAKER_01]: He's good at doing that most of the time, which is fantastic.
- 1:03:55[SPEAKER_01]: The problem is, and I watched the old 22, not all of it, but you know, enough the other day studying a few of these
- 1:04:05[SPEAKER_04]: He's just, he's got guys wide open, okay?
- 1:04:08[SPEAKER_01]: There was one play.
- 1:04:08[SPEAKER_01]: And I forget what quarter it was.
- 1:04:11[SPEAKER_01]: It was one of the plays we're brownly.
- 1:04:14[SPEAKER_01]: This is an issue with Deshawn Watson.
- 1:04:15[SPEAKER_01]: He's not able to identify the free Russia on a play.
- 1:04:19[SPEAKER_01]: So when you're, when your line is being outrushed by more, you know, there's more guys rushing on a play.
- 1:04:27[SPEAKER_01]: Like this is part of the operation stuff that everybody hyped up so much during the preseason.
- 1:04:32[SPEAKER_01]: As a quarterback, you got to be able to identify before the snap.
- 1:04:35[SPEAKER_01]: This is going to be the unblocked man over here, or over here, or right there.
- 1:04:40[SPEAKER_01]: You got to identify where is the unblocked Russia coming from.
- 1:04:44[SPEAKER_01]: And then you know, if they're bringing heat off the right side here with a, you know, a lineback or safety, whatever, then I can hot route my receiver over here, slant.
- 1:04:54[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm going to throw up right over that guy's head right where the pressure's coming from, because there's a void in the defense.
- 1:04:58[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I talk about this all the time, guys.
- 1:05:00[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I'm not an X's nose guy.
- 1:05:03[SPEAKER_01]: The football's not hard.
- 1:05:05[SPEAKER_01]: That I know it's very complicated with play calls and and coverage is in disguise and all of these different things and all that I get like this is a complex game and sport, but at the surface level football is not hard to show what's in cannot read those things and there was a play where brownly came flying off the right side.
- 1:05:26[SPEAKER_01]: Hero fan and junior.
- 1:05:29[SPEAKER_01]: wide open.
- 1:05:30[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, just 20 yards in private or more, just all Watson had to do.
- 1:05:38[SPEAKER_01]: See the pressure coming from the left.
- 1:05:41[SPEAKER_01]: Turn right beyond that pressure man.
- 1:05:45[SPEAKER_01]: Harrow fan juniors like, it's just me and a whole lot of grass.
- 1:05:50[SPEAKER_01]: Throw it to him.
- 1:05:51[SPEAKER_01]: It's a big play.
- 1:05:53[SPEAKER_01]: What happened on that play?
- 1:05:55[SPEAKER_01]: Panicked under the pressure.
- 1:05:57[SPEAKER_01]: try to find a escape route out to the right, ends up avoiding a sack by throwing the ball out of bounds.
- 1:06:03[SPEAKER_01]: He got rid of it before the sack, but I was an incomplete play.
- 1:06:08[SPEAKER_01]: Could have been a sack if he hadn't gotten rid of the ball.
- 1:06:09[SPEAKER_01]: Like, so instead of it turning into a big play, which a savvy veteran quarterback should be able to identify, it turns into a bad play and a good play for their defense.
- 1:06:18[SPEAKER_01]: So listen, I know we want to blame the offensive line and they are to blame at some spots for sure.
- 1:06:27[SPEAKER_01]: I know we all want to blame to Sean Watson and he is too blame it, some spots for sure.
- 1:06:34[SPEAKER_01]: Gosh, it's tough guys, it's tough situation right now, hopefully they can start getting figured out.
- 1:06:40[SPEAKER_01]: Let's hear what Aiden has to say.
- 1:06:42[SPEAKER_00]: What's up guys, he's Aiden here from England.
- 1:06:45[SPEAKER_00]: He's wanted to give him a force following the game.
- 1:06:47[SPEAKER_00]: The most browns result you'll ever see, I think.
- 1:06:50[SPEAKER_00]: That's that line is classic us, gifting another wind to an opponent when we really should have been walking out of there with a W. Yeah, whether it was a factor, but it's the fundamentals at the end of the day.
- 1:07:03[SPEAKER_00]: but I, well, it's wanted to get your thoughts on how limited our playbook looks.
- 1:07:08[SPEAKER_00]: Every single play just seems to be really simple and we've no real creativity.
- 1:07:14[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I was under the impression that this no offensive coaching staff were going to bring some misdirection and some shifts and
- 1:07:21[SPEAKER_00]: and just make us a little bit more kind of engaging to watch on the offends, but it's just the same place we can we count and we're five weeks in now.
- 1:07:31[SPEAKER_00]: Surely someone's got to be stepping up and creating something slightly different from first going forward because it's pretty dull and there's only so much of our defense time willing to watch.
- 1:07:41[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, keen to get your thoughts on that.
- 1:07:43[SPEAKER_00]: That's always good dogs.
- 1:07:45[SPEAKER_01]: Thanks for the voicemail 8 and always love hearing from our boys across the pond.
- 1:07:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, man, like, I think you got my thoughts and opinions on all of this.
- 1:07:55[SPEAKER_01]: Everything that you talked about, the limited offense, the lack of creativity.
- 1:08:03[SPEAKER_01]: Can I say, as you can only operate an offense to the strength of your
- 1:08:11[SPEAKER_01]: Play caller.
- 1:08:12[SPEAKER_01]: You're signal calling.
- 1:08:13[SPEAKER_01]: You're your quarterback.
- 1:08:14[SPEAKER_01]: Like if you if your quarterback cannot execute a more complex nuanced intricate offense, and you're going to run 72% of your plays out of shotgun and do the same freaking plays over and over.
- 1:08:27[SPEAKER_01]: Just just kind of is what it is.
- 1:08:29[SPEAKER_01]: Unfortunately, we are very limited and you know, you guys understand the reason why so.
- 1:08:35[SPEAKER_01]: All right, burdensy, you're up next buddy.
- 1:08:39[SPEAKER_02]: what's up boys birdsie here sucks the dogs lose uh definitely not what you want to see on a sunday after the tribe one big wind for the tribe but i'm not really too disappointed i don't know about you guys but like playing in the rain playing in the elements uh against new york like our guys were open uh i mean the passes were there our guys were open just couldn't come now with a ball once the Williams was a dog
- 1:09:05[SPEAKER_02]: absolute unit and our defense was hounded again.
- 1:09:08[SPEAKER_02]: I thought just curious to see what you guys think.
- 1:09:11[SPEAKER_02]: I thought the Browns were pretty solid and I'm not too worried about this game, but just another year of where we almost could have won five in a row here.
- 1:09:20[SPEAKER_02]: We were a saw stand on the internet that said where the only sports franchise did not win five in a row in 30 years.
- 1:09:27[SPEAKER_02]: So that's straight continues.
- 1:09:29[SPEAKER_02]: Here we go, Brown is here we go.
- 1:09:31[SPEAKER_02]: Woo!
- 1:09:31[SPEAKER_02]: Woo!
- 1:09:32[SPEAKER_01]: Thanks, Bernsey.
- 1:09:33[SPEAKER_01]: Well, we're going to have been five in a row.
- 1:09:34[SPEAKER_01]: We'd have been four in a row with a win over the Jets.
- 1:09:37[SPEAKER_01]: Five in a row would have had to be this coming weekend against the Ravens at home.
- 1:09:40[SPEAKER_01]: So we still would have had another game to get to that five game win streak and all that kind of stuff.
- 1:09:45[SPEAKER_01]: But listen.
- 1:09:48[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sure there are other browns fans out there that are optimistic like you and look at that game say okay it was raining like there is a sloppy we couldn't catch the ball all that kind of stuff throw it under the rug let's move on and that's fine I'm totally with you my problem with what we saw on Sunday is it was a continuation
- 1:10:06[SPEAKER_01]: of the exact same offensive problems that we've had all four games leading up to this one.
- 1:10:12[SPEAKER_01]: The first four weeks of the season were all the same for me on offense.
- 1:10:15[SPEAKER_01]: Now we had moments during some of those wins where it was like our offense is click in and we had a great first half against the Steelers and to Sean Watson was able to put together three game winning drives and all this kind of stuff.
- 1:10:25[SPEAKER_01]: But as a full total body of work over four games, and now five, the offensive problems are all the same, and they're all very concerning, and they will limit severely what this team can be moving forward, because we do have a great defense.
- 1:10:39[SPEAKER_01]: Quincy Williams, of course, the Swesinger, are awesome together.
- 1:10:41[SPEAKER_01]: Our defensive line, even without our two best players, it's like you wouldn't even know Mason Graham wasn't out there because Malay Colin stepped up in Aden Huntington and Sam Williams, and everybody's doing their part.
- 1:10:56[SPEAKER_01]: we just can't get the offense on the same page, and it's starting to get old.
- 1:11:02[SPEAKER_01]: Bernsey though, I do appreciate your optimism.
- 1:11:04[SPEAKER_01]: Thanks for the voicemail, Adam.
- 1:11:06[SPEAKER_01]: Let's see what you got to say.
- 1:11:07[SPEAKER_06]: Hey boys, it's Adam from El Paso.
- 1:11:09[SPEAKER_06]: Thoughts on the game number one.
- 1:11:11[SPEAKER_06]: F*** of it's Patrick, I know everybody's gonna say it.
- 1:11:14[SPEAKER_06]: I said to say it, number two.
- 1:11:16[SPEAKER_06]: I believe that this is like almost the same game plan we saw for the previous three wins.
- 1:11:21[SPEAKER_06]: You know, defense is how the opposing offense to low scoring numbers did amazing things.
- 1:11:29[SPEAKER_06]: Offends take some shots down the field, but overall a little bit more meticulous work in the right down with short and intermediate passes.
- 1:11:37[SPEAKER_06]: We have no run games still.
- 1:11:41[SPEAKER_06]: It's a problem.
- 1:11:42[SPEAKER_06]: And
- 1:11:44[SPEAKER_06]: I feel bad for Judge Kins on that.
- 1:11:49[SPEAKER_06]: Overall, I think the only difference in this game compared to the three that we won was was the jacked up punt, and then, you know, when Isaiah Bond comes in for Casey and gets spotlight on, I mean, he's got to catch the football, you know, there's some very key moments in that game that Isaiah Bond catches the ball, and we're progressing out the field, we're eating up clock.
- 1:12:11[SPEAKER_06]: Um, and as a result, I think that I think we win the game.
- 1:12:15[SPEAKER_06]: I think we have more than 12 points on the game.
- 1:12:17[SPEAKER_06]: And I think we win the game, but it's just basic mistakes.
- 1:12:21[SPEAKER_06]: And I think that the overall, uh, conclusion is, is what I think everyone knows.
- 1:12:28[SPEAKER_06]: And that's our game plans are designed for us.
- 1:12:30[SPEAKER_06]: We, we have minimal room to make mistakes.
- 1:12:33[SPEAKER_06]: We could have got away with that punt, but we can't get away without catching the ball.
- 1:12:37[SPEAKER_01]: Adam, you're exactly right, man, like a winnable game for sure.
- 1:12:41[SPEAKER_01]: It was right there.
- 1:12:44[SPEAKER_01]: It just goes back to what Todd Monkin said last week before the game, it's what we've been saying here on the show for a while, like things were bouncing our way for three straight weeks.
- 1:12:53[SPEAKER_01]: And that was great.
- 1:12:54[SPEAKER_01]: We were able to pull off some wins that way.
- 1:12:55[SPEAKER_01]: If you keep a game close, then you can hope that something at the end will bounce your way and you can come out with a win.
- 1:13:04[SPEAKER_01]: That is not a very good recipe for every single game.
- 1:13:06[SPEAKER_01]: Like you need to be a team, and it's not gonna happen every single game, 17 weeks in a season to come out and just be the absolute dominant team on the field, get out in front of your opponent by two, three score.
- 1:13:19[SPEAKER_01]: Like that's college football, man.
- 1:13:21[SPEAKER_01]: That's not the NFL.
- 1:13:24[SPEAKER_01]: But if you can't establish anything like we just don't we don't control the trenches on offense, we do on defense or defensive line is great.
- 1:13:33[SPEAKER_01]: Our offensive lines not getting the push.
- 1:13:34[SPEAKER_01]: We talked about all this.
- 1:13:35[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know you need to rehash it.
- 1:13:36[SPEAKER_01]: We talked about why the issues are what they are and until they get fixed.
- 1:13:41[SPEAKER_01]: You're going to have to win dirty, you're going to have to win ugly, you're going to win close and hope to God things bounce your way, otherwise you're going to get more results like Sunday where we come out on the losing end.
- 1:13:50[SPEAKER_01]: That's just the reality of the situation, but Adam, love hearing from you, hope everything is going well for you and Cooper down there and let's see, we'll move on to get a couple of voice emails left here, see two remaining and we'll get going here with Kyle.
- 1:14:06[SPEAKER_05]: What up dogs?
- 1:14:07[SPEAKER_05]: This is Kyle down in May at Ohio calling him for the second time.
- 1:14:10[SPEAKER_05]: Boy, what an abysable show in yesterday.
- 1:14:13[SPEAKER_05]: It was just miserable, but it got me to think in.
- 1:14:16[SPEAKER_05]: With all the drop passes and I know it's a long way off.
- 1:14:19[SPEAKER_05]: Do you spring if possible to the first second pick in the draft?
- 1:14:25[SPEAKER_05]: to get Jeremiah Smith.
- 1:14:28[SPEAKER_05]: I know everybody's gonna say quarterback, but we do have Shader on the team and we need some hands.
- 1:14:35[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, to Sean played a pretty decent game and there was a lot of drop balls and Jeremiah Smith might be the answer.
- 1:14:41[SPEAKER_05]: I know we need a line, but that can be picked up, you know, later in the draft, but do you spring and possibly trade up to get that?
- 1:14:48[SPEAKER_05]: Again, no, it's a long way off, but
- 1:14:50[SPEAKER_05]: Just thought I'd ask maybe change it up a little bit from the normal conversation of how the Brown sucked on Sunday against the jets.
- 1:14:57[SPEAKER_05]: Talk to you guys later, dogs out.
- 1:14:59[SPEAKER_05]: Oh, whoo.
- 1:15:00[SPEAKER_01]: All right, Kyle down from around my neck of the woods here.
- 1:15:02[SPEAKER_01]: That's awesome.
- 1:15:03[SPEAKER_01]: Great to hear from you, man.
- 1:15:04[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm glad that you brought up a different question.
- 1:15:06[SPEAKER_01]: You know, a little different topic here.
- 1:15:08[SPEAKER_01]: Jeremiah Smith.
- 1:15:09[SPEAKER_01]: I listen.
- 1:15:12[SPEAKER_01]: You would have to move a whole lot of draft capital to get up to number two to take him.
- 1:15:20[SPEAKER_01]: Would it be worth it?
- 1:15:21[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I think anybody, I think whatever you got to give up to get Jeremiah Smith would be worth.
- 1:15:26[SPEAKER_01]: I think he might be one of the best.
- 1:15:29[SPEAKER_01]: college prospects, ever, not just like wider silver prospects, but just prospects in general that we've ever seen.
- 1:15:36[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, seriously, when you talk about a guy that could have legitimately played NFL football as a true freshman in college, and maybe people out there might push back and argue against that, go back and watch during my Smith when he was a freshman at Ohio State.
- 1:15:53[SPEAKER_01]: That's an NFL football player right there.
- 1:15:55[SPEAKER_01]: as an 18 year old.
- 1:15:57[SPEAKER_01]: This guy is ready to go.
- 1:15:58[SPEAKER_01]: He's going to come in and be in the lead wide receiver one for an NFL offense right away.
- 1:16:02[SPEAKER_01]: I just don't know if you'd be able to make that happen.
- 1:16:06[SPEAKER_01]: You'd have to, you'd have to give up a whole lot.
- 1:16:08[SPEAKER_01]: So I would love to see it obviously one of my favorite players I've ever watched and he's not even in the lead yet.
- 1:16:14[SPEAKER_01]: It's, it's crazy what this kid's been able to do to Ohio State.
- 1:16:17[SPEAKER_01]: And he's not done yet, but
- 1:16:20[SPEAKER_01]: Love the question.
- 1:16:21[SPEAKER_01]: Love the idea.
- 1:16:22[SPEAKER_01]: Just don't think it's within the realm of possibility.
- 1:16:25[SPEAKER_01]: I think we'll win too many games this year to be in any sort of range for that.
- 1:16:31[SPEAKER_01]: And again, I mean, you mentioned quarterback.
- 1:16:34[SPEAKER_01]: I think this is probably going to be at the top of the Browns priority list, but we'll see how the rest of the season plays out Kyle.
- 1:16:39[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you for calling in and we will end today with Mari.
- 1:16:43[SPEAKER_09]: What's up fellas, this is Mari here, man, tough loss man.
- 1:16:49[SPEAKER_09]: I'm just curious because on the broadcast while watching the game, the broadcast is said that you guys are on strike now.
- 1:16:59[SPEAKER_09]: for the majority that snaps on offense.
- 1:17:03[SPEAKER_09]: I don't know if that's because the personnel or the Sean choice, but it seems late.
- 1:17:12[SPEAKER_09]: That's the Sean choice to operate in the shotgun.
- 1:17:18[SPEAKER_09]: So you do you guys think that perhaps this is Henry, Todd Munkin's system or it's not open up the playbook to his liking?
- 1:17:30[SPEAKER_09]: because the Sean doesn't want to be on their center and do you think ultimately that's the reason why the run game hasn't been effective despite Quint Sean not showing the flashes that he showed last year with his explosiveness
- 1:17:53[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, well, I guess that's, you know, decent voicemail there to end the show because I can just tell everybody go back and listen to the first part of the episode if you missed it, you will get my answer to the whole shot gun thing.
- 1:18:03[SPEAKER_01]: Yep, we're running 72% leading rate out of shot gun and it is because that's all what the Sean Watson is comfortable running.
- 1:18:12[SPEAKER_01]: It might be the only thing he's really capable of running.
- 1:18:14[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, but either way, it's what we're doing and that's the reason why.
- 1:18:18[SPEAKER_01]: It's part of the reason why the run game is so bad because it does limit the playbook But there is also the element work when Sean Jutkins does not have his explosiveness that that is a very big factor in all of this as well So there's a lot of stuff playing into it right now guys
- 1:18:35[SPEAKER_01]: I think the bottom line is moving forward here.
- 1:18:37[SPEAKER_01]: We'll get ready.
- 1:18:37[SPEAKER_01]: We'll do the Ravens preview on Thursday.
- 1:18:39[SPEAKER_01]: Like we always do, talk about that game coming up with the Browns need to do to win that one.
- 1:18:44[SPEAKER_01]: Get back on top of the division here.
- 1:18:46[SPEAKER_01]: Four and two would be a great way to go down to Tennessee and then I like to say that's a free win.
- 1:18:51[SPEAKER_01]: It's hard to say that about any NFL team, but right now the Titans look like a free square.
- 1:18:55[SPEAKER_01]: They absolutely suck, especially going against our defense.
- 1:18:59[SPEAKER_01]: I just don't see how you'll lose that game.
- 1:19:01[SPEAKER_01]: But we got to take care of business at home, against Baltimore, and we'll be okay.
- 1:19:06[SPEAKER_01]: got a lot of stuff we got to fix up.
- 1:19:08[SPEAKER_01]: So hopefully the Browns are getting to work this week.
- 1:19:10[SPEAKER_01]: Hopefully you guys are having a great week, continue it down.
- 1:19:12[SPEAKER_01]: Let me hear what you guys have to say if you want to get your voice mail, stop the opinions on the show, go to the docs.com, tap the voice on the drop down menu.

- 1:19:23[SPEAKER_01]: And then if you're not comfortable with your voice, you can type up a message, send it in.
- 1:19:27[SPEAKER_01]: I'll read it on the show.
- 1:19:27[SPEAKER_01]: I guess I should probably look real quick and see if I have any of those to read.
- 1:19:32[SPEAKER_01]: It looks like I do not.
- 1:19:33[SPEAKER_01]: So we will end the show right there.
- 1:19:35[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you guys for tuning in.

- 1:20:14[SPEAKER_01]: We'll continue to look into things and get you guys breakdowns on what the Browns are doing that could be hurting us, what we could be doing better to help improve all that kind of stuff as the season goes on.
- 1:20:27[SPEAKER_01]: Stay up.
- 1:20:28[SPEAKER_01]: We're still three and two.
- 1:20:29[SPEAKER_01]: We're still over 500 and things are not.
- 1:20:32[SPEAKER_01]: The last two years were really bad for the Browns.
- 1:20:34[SPEAKER_01]: So at least we are on the up and up from where we have been tough loss against the jets.
- 1:20:41[SPEAKER_01]: But we do want to the Ravens.
- 1:20:42[SPEAKER_01]: Let's talk about the game on Thursday.
- 1:20:44[SPEAKER_01]: See you guys on the preview.
- 1:20:45[SPEAKER_01]: Let's go, Brown.
