- 0:01Speaker 1: Welcome to Kraken this morning, a presentation of the Kraken
- 0:05Speaker 1: Audio Network, Ken Sports Radio ninety three point three KJRFM.
- 0:10Speaker 1: Here's Mike Benton.
- 0:12Speaker 2: They continue down the coast looking to roll with more momentum.
- 0:15Speaker 2: Welcome to Krakeen this morning. Here on the final game
- 0:17Speaker 2: before the holiday break, Tuesday, December twenty third, Mike Benton
- 0:21Speaker 2: with you from Los Angeles with the Kraken taken on
- 0:24Speaker 2: the Los Angeles Kings in the second matchup of this season.
- 0:28Speaker 2: In the second game up back to back on the
- 0:31Speaker 2: Kraken end with a Crack and aiming for their second
- 0:33Speaker 2: win in as many tries against the Kings. Last matchup
- 0:36Speaker 2: ended well in a three to two overtime win back
- 0:39Speaker 2: on December tenth at Climate Pledge Arena. We will hear
- 0:42Speaker 2: from more postgame reaction from last night and Anaheim from
- 0:46Speaker 2: Crack and captain Jordan Everley, goaltender Philip Grubauer, and head
- 0:50Speaker 2: coach Lane Lambert as well. Last evening the Kraken facing
- 0:53Speaker 2: an Anaheim team that can certainly turn up the heat
- 0:56Speaker 2: as far as the offensive game for the Kraken, holding
- 0:59Speaker 2: firm with their strugure disrupting plenty of plays for Anaheim
- 1:02Speaker 2: as a broke into the offensive zone and the penalty
- 1:05Speaker 2: kill as well, coming up in a huge way with
- 1:07Speaker 2: a two of two efforts, including an early Ducks man
- 1:10Speaker 2: advantage that fell by the wayside with no shots on goal. Eventually,
- 1:14Speaker 2: it was Freddie Gudrou who got things going at four
- 1:16Speaker 2: to forty nine a period two, he got his second
- 1:18Speaker 2: goal of the season and on the power play, a
- 1:21Speaker 2: pinball light type of play at the front of the
- 1:23Speaker 2: net with Shane Wright and Coppocco helping him out. After
- 1:26Speaker 2: Mikyle Granlin type things up a fifteen forty the krack
- 1:29Speaker 2: and then put their foot to the gas pedal. In
- 1:32Speaker 2: period three, Ducks break in kracking, take it away right side,
- 1:36Speaker 2: Cocko Tuveneers into the zone left side for every.
- 1:39Speaker 3: Hess Jordan every nine fifty six remaining in period three
- 1:48Speaker 3: on pier snipe left circle. After all that chaos, the
- 1:53Speaker 3: captain lifting the Kraken to a two to one lead.
- 1:56Speaker 4: On many Peers and Jordan Eberley. They've played so much together.
- 2:00Speaker 4: Matty Veneers gets that puck in the middle of the
- 2:02Speaker 4: ice he's looking for every he draws the defensive to him,
- 2:05Speaker 4: slides it over. Everty goes top shelf glove side on
- 2:08Speaker 4: the stall, two to one crack, a.
- 2:10Speaker 2: Com long lead feed broken up Tobdin got one ahead
- 2:13Speaker 2: Everley to the empty.
- 2:14Speaker 3: Ninety scars sword and every flipboards deliver is a big
- 2:23Speaker 3: blow and it could be.
- 2:24Speaker 2: The final one.
- 2:26Speaker 5: Thirty five second s left in regulation as Everley breaking
- 2:31Speaker 5: the time went back to back goals and the Crack
- 2:35Speaker 5: and take a three to one lead.
- 2:37Speaker 4: Well, it is only Toven and that did some great
- 2:38Speaker 4: work along the wall there to get that buck free
- 2:41Speaker 4: to Jordan Eberley. Jordan Everley skated into a got a
- 2:44Speaker 4: backhand off and found the middle of the net three
- 2:47Speaker 4: one cracking, thirty six seconds left. This one looks like
- 2:50Speaker 4: it's gonna.
- 2:50Speaker 2: Fall to Seattle, so the captain helping lift the Crack
- 2:53Speaker 2: into a three to one win over the Anaheim Ducks
- 2:55Speaker 2: with things getting awfully rough and the crack and also
- 2:57Speaker 2: dealing with the loss of Vince Dune who would not
- 2:59Speaker 2: return after a hit by Ross Johnston ad center Rice
- 3:02Speaker 2: and the kracking forced to shuffle into a mode of
- 3:05Speaker 2: playing five defenseman for the rest of the entire game.
- 3:08Speaker 2: But not to fear when you have goaltending. Usually two
- 3:11Speaker 2: points are in year when that goaltending steps up, and
- 3:13Speaker 2: Philip Grubauer did just that, delivering a season high forty
- 3:17Speaker 2: saves and four off his career high set back in
- 3:21Speaker 2: March of twenty nineteen. Additionally, Jordan Everley, with a pair
- 3:25Speaker 2: of goals, gave the Kraken a two to zero record
- 3:27Speaker 2: against the Ducks head to head. Here for this season
- 3:29Speaker 2: and for the Kraken, a feeling that matters could be
- 3:32Speaker 2: potentially turning the corner now with back to back wins
- 3:36Speaker 2: on this four game road trip. Here's more reaction after
- 3:38Speaker 2: the game with Crack and goaltender Philip Grubauer.
- 3:42Speaker 6: For a game like Dad is it, it's sort of
- 3:45Speaker 6: been a good way and you're in the rhythm, you're
- 3:46Speaker 6: getting so many.
- 3:47Speaker 7: Shots, Yeah, for sure.
- 3:49Speaker 8: I mean it's not ideal. Like in the second period,
- 3:51Speaker 8: I don't think we got too much going and we
- 3:53Speaker 8: sat back a little bit. So we definitely learned from that.
- 3:56Speaker 8: But we stick together. Cart c see like huge hip
- 4:02Speaker 8: guys stepping up for each other. That's huge, and we
- 4:04Speaker 8: found a way to play it the right way. In
- 4:06Speaker 8: the last greade there.
- 4:07Speaker 6: And the penalty kill, you guys can get one very early,
- 4:10Speaker 6: right and it's almost ships the moment of in your
- 4:13Speaker 6: in your favor. How'd you feel about the killed right?
- 4:16Speaker 8: Yeah, awesome, awesome job. I mean everybody makes it makes
- 4:20Speaker 8: it easy. Everybody's on the same page. You said the
- 4:21Speaker 8: two type of Lindley, they're huge block. There's there's there's
- 4:26Speaker 8: guys stepping up and like eating those shots. So those
- 4:28Speaker 8: are those are huge blocks and that's what we need.
- 4:31Speaker 7: I know.
- 4:31Speaker 6: It's easy to think then you guys scout your opponents
- 4:34Speaker 6: and but in the heat of the game, do we
- 4:37Speaker 6: even know who's shooting? Sometimes that you were some of
- 4:39Speaker 6: the guys who were.
- 4:40Speaker 8: For Yeah, for sure, you got to like for us,
- 4:43Speaker 8: like you know who has a pretty dangerous shot and
- 4:46Speaker 8: who is on the ice for them? I don't really
- 4:49Speaker 8: know oversee, like our guys, I don't really know sometimes
- 4:52Speaker 8: who's on the ice for us, but I always know
- 4:54Speaker 8: who's on on their forward side. They're really shifty, they
- 5:00Speaker 8: activate their d pretty pretty good, and they spread us
- 5:03Speaker 8: out pretty well. But like we found a way to
- 5:06Speaker 8: to keep them to the outside and box guys out,
- 5:09Speaker 8: and that's huge because they're.
- 5:10Speaker 7: A big team.
- 5:10Speaker 8: They're always going to the net and getting like the
- 5:15Speaker 8: gold they scored sticks on it, like they're so.
- 5:17Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 5:18Speaker 6: Best question for me is what you've been with this
- 5:21Speaker 6: team obviously, like Jordan all five years. What'd you say
- 5:24Speaker 6: about this group the way you've played the last couple
- 5:26Speaker 6: of nights with kind of up against the wall on
- 5:28Speaker 6: this trip.
- 5:29Speaker 8: Yeah, amazing.
- 5:29Speaker 7: I mean.
- 5:31Speaker 8: We we find a way. We got to find a way, right, Like,
- 5:35Speaker 8: look at the standings, it's it's pretty tight, but we
- 5:37Speaker 8: can't afford to lose too many, right, But sometimes you need.
- 5:40Speaker 7: To go through that.
- 5:42Speaker 8: And we have an awesome group here sacrificing and doing
- 5:46Speaker 8: the right things for the team, and that's that's key
- 5:49Speaker 8: moving forward.
- 5:50Speaker 7: AFT is your d in in this game tonight?
- 5:54Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 5:54Speaker 8: Everybody's important.
- 5:55Speaker 7: I think forwards too. I said it to Shaner.
- 5:58Speaker 8: He balks somebody out in front of me in the
- 6:00Speaker 8: first period, which was huge and allowed me to make
- 6:03Speaker 8: an easy safe right, So everybody everybody's doing that part.
- 6:06Speaker 2: Jordan Everley extending his crack and goal scoring lead now
- 6:09Speaker 2: to twelve total for the entire season, already surpassing last
- 6:13Speaker 2: season's total in an injury shortened twenty seven game campaign.
- 6:17Speaker 2: Your Zebraly's reaction after the win in Anaheim.
- 6:20Speaker 6: So Jordan lots of good things about tonight, But your
- 6:23Speaker 6: take on this team and just the idea of the
- 6:25Speaker 6: last two games, you guys kind of coming back and
- 6:28Speaker 6: believing in yourselves.
- 6:30Speaker 9: Yeah, I mean it hasn't been easy. I mean we've
- 6:32Speaker 9: I think what at least say, we've been tied prior
- 6:34Speaker 9: to these couple prior leading sixth to the nine, and
- 6:37Speaker 9: you know, we haven't found a way and things haven't
- 6:39Speaker 9: gone for us. So, you know, last couple of games
- 6:41Speaker 9: they have. I think the belief is a magical thing.
- 6:45Speaker 9: You got to just believe in. You know, diversity is
- 6:47Speaker 9: going to hit, and we have it right now, not
- 6:49Speaker 9: just on the ice, but I mean we've lost guys
- 6:51Speaker 9: key pieces and we've still found it away. So I
- 6:54Speaker 9: mean we're still in this thing. We got another chance
- 6:56Speaker 9: to do it tomorrow.
- 6:57Speaker 6: The fourth line comes out with physicality and it actually
- 7:00Speaker 6: sort of annoying the other team, maybe distracting them. Your
- 7:03Speaker 6: thoughts on on how those guys did in the third periods.
- 7:06Speaker 9: No, I was sitting it out there. They were we
- 7:08Speaker 9: were playing on our heels. They were all over us,
- 7:11Speaker 9: and they kind of went out and created some energy
- 7:12Speaker 9: for us, and that's what you needed to do.
- 7:14Speaker 7: So good autumn and the goal.
- 7:17Speaker 6: You got a couple of good plays from your teammates.
- 7:19Speaker 6: You can talk about a little bit what both of
- 7:21Speaker 6: those guys did to set you up.
- 7:22Speaker 9: Yeah, Capy made a good play and won a battle,
- 7:25Speaker 9: and Matty just slid it over, and you know it
- 7:27Speaker 9: was nice to find that out there. So timely goals,
- 7:30Speaker 9: I think. You know, when you're not creating a ton
- 7:32Speaker 9: of offense, you're playing a lot of defense.
- 7:33Speaker 7: You know, you got to capitalize. So we did that.
- 7:35Speaker 2: Needless to say, Crack and Goltending have been facing their
- 7:37Speaker 2: share of shots over the last four games, thirty nine
- 7:40Speaker 2: against the Avalanche, forty six against Calgary, thirty six against
- 7:44Speaker 2: San Jose, and forty one last night in Anaheim, but
- 7:47Speaker 2: again Cracking Goltutending coming through with a penalty kill and
- 7:51Speaker 2: an a brace. The fourth line led by Jacob Malonson,
- 7:54Speaker 2: Ty Cartier and Ben Myers, Karchier and Malonson combining for
- 7:57Speaker 2: nine hits on the night, while Myers went at three
- 8:00Speaker 2: of five at the facetof circle. For more reaction after
- 8:04Speaker 2: this one, here's that coach Laane Lambert with the media
- 8:06Speaker 2: in Anaheim, Layne.
- 8:08Speaker 7: How did your fourth line impact this game? They turned
- 8:12Speaker 7: it around for us in the third period.
- 8:14Speaker 10: You know, a couple of great shifts, a couple of
- 8:16Speaker 10: big hits, got us emotionally involved.
- 8:19Speaker 7: And you know, I thought that between them and.
- 8:23Speaker 10: Philip Grubauer, it's probably the main reason why we won
- 8:26Speaker 10: the game.
- 8:26Speaker 7: Groove you played outstanding. Also, you win the special Teams
- 8:29Speaker 7: battle tonight as well.
- 8:30Speaker 3: It's all like there's been some games where you've won
- 8:32Speaker 3: them and still not won the game overall. What are
- 8:35Speaker 3: you going to hope the guys take away from trusting
- 8:37Speaker 3: the process?
- 8:38Speaker 10: Well that you know it's been it's been good here lately.
- 8:42Speaker 10: Obviously apparently kill has gotten better, our power pay continues
- 8:45Speaker 10: to give us goals when when we need it. So
- 8:47Speaker 10: we just have to continue with that momentum.
- 8:50Speaker 6: What do you like about Coppo Cockle.
- 8:51Speaker 10: In that line of medic years and Jordan now he's working,
- 8:53Speaker 10: he makes plays, you know, he holds onto bucks.
- 8:57Speaker 7: You know, it's a good spot for him.
- 8:59Speaker 10: You know, I hadn't seen in that spot prior to uh,
- 9:03Speaker 10: you know, a couple of games.
- 9:04Speaker 7: Ago, and.
- 9:07Speaker 10: It's good for it's been a good change for him
- 9:10Speaker 10: to get up there and those guys to have him there.
- 9:13Speaker 6: And I'm guessing you were too crazy about the second
- 9:15Speaker 6: period in terms of them getting more chances. But it
- 9:19Speaker 6: did seem to like the guys helped together.
- 9:21Speaker 7: Well, they did, they battled.
- 9:23Speaker 10: You know, there was again a lot of commitment, but uh,
- 9:27Speaker 10: you know, we just spend too much time on our
- 9:29Speaker 10: own and it's not a recipe for success.
- 9:33Speaker 7: Our goaltender was our best player tonight.
- 9:35Speaker 2: So after a rough eleven games, stressed, the Crack and
- 9:37Speaker 2: half something to finally feel good about as far as
- 9:40Speaker 2: banking results on their side, moving back to within five
- 9:43Speaker 2: points of the cut line in the Western Conference with
- 9:46Speaker 2: a big game looming here in Los Angeles for the
- 9:49Speaker 2: final game before the holiday break. As far as that
- 9:51Speaker 2: five point gap that is shared by Utah and the team,
- 9:54Speaker 2: the crack And are facing this evening in the Los
- 9:57Speaker 2: Angeles King, So you're talking about potential four points game
- 10:00Speaker 2: with pretty heavy implications before the Kraken and the rest
- 10:03Speaker 2: of the league will shut down for the holiday. It's
- 10:06Speaker 2: the crack And again one and no head to head
- 10:08Speaker 2: against the Kings, a team that presents a game pretty
- 10:11Speaker 2: much a polar opposite of last night's opponent. The Kings
- 10:14Speaker 2: don't score much, but won't give up much as well,
- 10:16Speaker 2: they are second best right now in the NHL, allowing
- 10:19Speaker 2: just two and a half goals a game, but they
- 10:21Speaker 2: ask some offensive issues as well here for this season,
- 10:24Speaker 2: with just two and a half goals per games scored
- 10:26Speaker 2: on their side, that is third lowest in the entire league.
- 10:29Speaker 2: And the Kings, coming off last night a three to
- 10:32Speaker 2: one loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets, had a goal
- 10:35Speaker 2: from Andre Cuzmenko. Nothing be signs that with the Kings
- 10:38Speaker 2: going zero for five on the power play, Jet Greeves
- 10:42Speaker 2: in net for Columbus out dueling Anton Forstburg in net
- 10:45Speaker 2: for Los Angeles, So it wouldn't be surprising here to
- 10:47Speaker 2: see the crack and go with Joey Decord in net
- 10:49Speaker 2: here for today up against Phoenix Copley on the Los
- 10:52Speaker 2: Angeles Kings side. The Kings with a little bit of
- 10:55Speaker 2: a healthier front right now. Darcy Kemper is their only
- 10:57Speaker 2: player right now on injury reserve, and the kracking, well,
- 11:00Speaker 2: we'll see how much you have to go without here
- 11:01Speaker 2: for this sevening. Again, Vince done no update after last
- 11:04Speaker 2: evening's game with the krack and already dealing with players
- 11:06Speaker 2: on the shelf such as Jaden Schwartz, Jereed McCann, Brandon Montour,
- 11:10Speaker 2: Berkeley Catton and goaltender Matt Murray. Of course, of the
- 11:14Speaker 2: Krake in side Elie Tulvinen want to watch out for
- 11:17Speaker 2: here for this evening four game points scoring streak heading
- 11:20Speaker 2: into this one, Freddie Goodroz got points in three straight games,
- 11:22Speaker 2: and the Kings, despite their offensive struggles, still led by
- 11:25Speaker 2: Adrian Kempe with thirteen goals and thirty points on this campaign,
- 11:30Speaker 2: face off this evening at seven o'clock from Crypto dot
- 11:33Speaker 2: Com Arena airtime six thirty for your pregame show served
- 11:36Speaker 2: up by Frost Brewed cors Light. I'll have the call
- 11:38Speaker 2: with Al Koniski Andrew Sercht back in Network Central. All
- 11:41Speaker 2: across the Global Credit Union Kraken Audio Network enjoy this game,
- 11:45Speaker 2: Happy holidays and for Kracken this morning, I Mike Benton,
- 11:48Speaker 2: You're home for the
