- 0:39Speaker 2: It is all Welle Wednesday. We thank you for being
- 0:42Speaker 2: with us. We're gonna hear from Coachelco coming up a
- 0:45Speaker 2: little bit.
- 0:46Speaker 1: Scott Clendennon is doing studio and malloring us here and
- 0:51Speaker 1: man and we have a lot of entertainment news to
- 0:53Speaker 1: catch up on. There's a lot of stuff happening, so
- 0:56Speaker 1: she'll be here in.
- 0:57Speaker 2: The second hour of the program.
- 1:01Speaker 1: This portion of the program brought to you by Central
- 1:03Speaker 1: Texas Sports Medicine. They're playing playoff baseball, not in Texas,
- 1:08Speaker 1: but in other parts of the country. The Guardians scored
- 1:11Speaker 1: five runs in the bottom of the eighth and beat the.
- 1:15Speaker 2: Tigers six to one.
- 1:16Speaker 1: That forces a Game three, deciding game in Cleveland tomorrow.
- 1:22Speaker 1: The Padres have jumped out to a three nothing lead
- 1:25Speaker 1: over the Cubbies at Wrigley Field. That game's in the
- 1:29Speaker 1: fifth inning already, maybe fifth, sixth, something like that, starting
- 1:34Speaker 1: about an hour from now. Red Sox Yankee sixth inning.
- 1:38Speaker 1: In that game, Red Sox Yankees. The Red Sox won
- 1:41Speaker 1: last night. Garrett Crochet was really good. The Yankees must
- 1:47Speaker 1: win tonight. The Reds and the Dodgers. Shoe a Otani
- 1:53Speaker 1: put on a show last night. Two home runs, the
- 1:57Speaker 1: second one four hundred and fifty four feet. He almost
- 2:03Speaker 1: hit it out a Dodger Stadium four hundred and fifty
- 2:07Speaker 1: four feet. And I don't know who's doing the Dodgers
- 2:10Speaker 1: Reds game last night. I know Sean McDonough's doing the
- 2:14Speaker 1: Tigers Guardians and he is just awesome. And I'm watching
- 2:17Speaker 1: the game. I was flipping around. I turn it over
- 2:19Speaker 1: just in time to see shoe Atone hit the ball
- 2:23Speaker 1: four and fifty four feet and the announcers are like, yeah,
- 2:27Speaker 1: shoe Atani, he's pretty good.
- 2:30Speaker 2: It's pretty you know that ball has hit pretty good.
- 2:35Speaker 1: I'm going he just hit the ball four hundred and
- 2:38Speaker 1: fifty four feet for his second home run.
- 2:41Speaker 2: Of the game. Give me a little bit here. Maybe
- 2:45Speaker 2: you're bored, but I'm not.
- 2:48Speaker 1: Well. I am now Showey's Tonny. Brian Snicker will not
- 2:54Speaker 1: be back as manager of the Braves, being moved into
- 2:58Speaker 1: that dreaded advice y role in the front office. They
- 3:03Speaker 1: issued a statement telling everybody how great he is and
- 3:08Speaker 1: then saying he ain't going to be back anymore. Forty
- 3:12Speaker 1: nine years in the Braves organization and he's been the
- 3:16Speaker 1: manager nine years. That's hard to believe. He'll turn seventy
- 3:21Speaker 1: this month. One you know, World Series in twenty twenty one.
- 3:29Speaker 1: Pretty good resume. But the Braves were ten under this
- 3:34Speaker 1: year and missed the playoffs for the first time since
- 3:36Speaker 1: twenty seventeen. Good gosh, you think we could ever? Will
- 3:40Speaker 1: there ever be a time? We say the Texas Rangers.
- 3:42Speaker 1: They missed the playoffs for the first time in eight years. Now,
- 3:48Speaker 1: Angels owner Arti Morino is eyeing Albert Poohhols as the
- 3:54Speaker 1: team's next manager. Look, I'm as big a pool holes
- 4:00Speaker 1: as anybody. I don't know you're going to hire a
- 4:07Speaker 1: guy that's never had that responsibility. And here's the other deal.
- 4:14Speaker 1: When you have a great player, and there have been
- 4:17Speaker 1: very few great players successful managers in the major leagues.
- 4:22Speaker 1: My thing is this, you have a great player who
- 4:27Speaker 1: has done it, a Hall of Fame player, and he
- 4:29Speaker 1: gets this group of guys and he's trying to manage
- 4:33Speaker 1: them like they're all just like he was, and they're not.
- 4:37Speaker 1: None of them are, except for maybe Mike Trout. None
- 4:40Speaker 1: of them are like he was.
- 4:42Speaker 2: Right.
- 4:43Speaker 1: I mean, you you can't recreate that. You can't make
- 4:48Speaker 1: them a Hall of Fame player. He's assisted the team
- 4:53Speaker 1: in spring training and worked in the Dominican Republic at
- 4:57Speaker 1: an academy down there. He told reporters March he'd be
- 5:02Speaker 1: interested managing.
- 5:04Speaker 2: Why not.
- 5:05Speaker 1: I think if the opportunity is the right one, I
- 5:07Speaker 1: think I'd be ready for that, said pooholz Uh.
- 5:12Speaker 2: We finally have.
- 5:13Speaker 1: A reason why Garrett Nessmeyer hasn't played like a Heisman
- 5:17Speaker 1: Trophy candidate for LSU. Brian Kelly finally admitted today on
- 5:23Speaker 1: the SEC teleconference he had an abstraight not a core injury.
- 5:30Speaker 2: It's been slow to heal.
- 5:32Speaker 1: He's on the back side of that, and he's getting
- 5:36Speaker 1: rest this week. I mean, that's good to know. Bruce Feldman,
- 5:42Speaker 1: quoting an NFL scout, is saying something's off with him.
- 5:46Speaker 2: He's just not firing the ball the way he used to. Well,
- 5:50Speaker 2: he's hurt. That That is a pretty good excuse. We talked.
- 5:56Speaker 2: I talk with Louis about that this morning.
- 5:58Speaker 1: It's like, look, the coaches don't want to it's a
- 6:02Speaker 1: fine line. They don't want to tell you a player's injured.
- 6:05Speaker 1: Maybe his parents don't want anybody to know. Maybe the
- 6:08Speaker 1: agent doesn't want anybody to know. Maybe the coach doesn't
- 6:11Speaker 1: want anybody to know, because if you know they're injured.
- 6:14Speaker 2: Maybe you're going after them.
- 6:16Speaker 1: But then the players out there on an island and
- 6:19Speaker 1: he is just getting smoked by all the fans, going, hey,
- 6:24Speaker 1: what is wrong with this guy? I thought he was
- 6:26Speaker 1: supposed to be a Heisman Trophy candidate. Turns out he's injured.
- 6:31Speaker 1: That makes me feel better. I mean, I don't care
- 6:34Speaker 1: if Garrett now smar Win's a Heisman Trophy or not.
- 6:37Speaker 1: I'm just saying he hasn't been the player we thought
- 6:41Speaker 1: he was gonna be this year. Well, guess what, there's
- 6:44Speaker 1: a reason for that. The Big Twelve Conference announced today
- 6:48Speaker 1: Arizona State and Kansas will play the first ever Union
- 6:55Speaker 1: Jack Classic at London's Wimbley Stadium next September the nineteenth.
- 7:02Speaker 1: Brett your Mark, the commissioner, said, I'm thrilled the Big
- 7:05Speaker 1: Twelve football will be heading to London for the first
- 7:07Speaker 1: ever college football game at Wimbley Stadium. I've often said
- 7:12Speaker 1: my goal is for the Big Twelve to be the
- 7:15Speaker 1: most globally relevant conference in college athletics.
- 7:19Speaker 2: Brett.
- 7:21Speaker 1: In order for that to happen, somebody would have to
- 7:26Speaker 1: be excited about Kansas, Kansas and Arizona State playing a
- 7:30Speaker 1: football game, and I don't care where it's played. The
- 7:35Speaker 1: Union Jack Classic will be the third Big Twelve football
- 7:39Speaker 1: game in two years in Europe. Iowa State and k
- 7:42Speaker 1: State set football back a thousand years this year in
- 7:45Speaker 1: Dublin Island, Ireland. Of course, it was cold and rainy
- 7:48Speaker 1: and soggy. Did I've got a prediction Next next September
- 7:53Speaker 1: the nineteenth, at Wimbley Stadium, It'll be cold and rainy
- 7:57Speaker 1: and saggy. TCU will face nor North Carolina to open
- 8:02Speaker 1: the twenty twenty sixth season.
- 8:05Speaker 2: So we got that going for us, which is nice.
- 8:09Speaker 2: We're also thrilled.
- 8:11Speaker 1: To tell you that the twenty twenty eight College National
- 8:17Speaker 1: Football Championship will be played in Knowledge. The management Committee
- 8:26Speaker 1: has selected New Orleans to host the twenty twenty eight
- 8:30Speaker 1: championship game. And if you want to put it on
- 8:33Speaker 1: your calendar now January the twenty fourth. Okay, let's see,
- 8:42Speaker 1: last year was in Atlanta. This year it is at
- 8:46Speaker 1: the hard Rock Stadium in Miami. It's not really in Miami,
- 8:51Speaker 1: it's more close to Fort Lauderdale and next year Las
- 8:57Speaker 1: Vegas Allegiance Stadium. What could possibly go wrong there? With
- 9:04Speaker 1: college players who are now making six and seven figures
- 9:08Speaker 1: loose on the strip in Las Vegas before a national
- 9:11Speaker 1: championship game. I would whoever those coaches are going to be,
- 9:17Speaker 1: they need to have pretty much guard.
- 9:20Speaker 2: The entrances and exits. Quick story.
- 9:23Speaker 1: One of my favorites ever, the great late great Abe
- 9:26Speaker 1: Lemons hilarious. He had gone to a tournament or they'd
- 9:31Speaker 1: gone to play UNLV in Las Vegas when he was
- 9:33Speaker 1: at Oklahoma City, and he had a bunch of players
- 9:36Speaker 1: break curfew. Well, their next game was against Abilene Christian
- 9:40Speaker 1: and Abilene so Abe instituted a reverse curfew. He told
- 9:46Speaker 1: his team, you cannot come back to the hotel before
- 9:49Speaker 1: one am.
- 9:51Speaker 2: He said, at eleven o'clock.
- 9:53Speaker 1: The whole team sitting on the curb in front of
- 9:55Speaker 1: the hotel way to get back in their rooms. Only
- 10:01Speaker 1: I could come up with that. All right, we're going
- 10:04Speaker 1: to take a break. We're going to hear from Mike
- 10:06Speaker 1: Elcho after the final lap. Brought to you by end
- 10:08Speaker 1: Co Insurance.
- 10:10Speaker 4: Inco Insurance is now a part of Hub International, bringing
- 10:13Speaker 4: you more choices, better value, and even greater expertise. While
- 10:17Speaker 4: our name has changed, we're still the same local team
- 10:19Speaker 4: you know and trust, now with even more to offer
- 10:22Speaker 4: from business insurance to personal protection and employee benefits. We're

- 10:28Speaker 4: service you expect now with the strength of Hub International
- 10:32Speaker 4: behind us, more resources, more solutions, Still your team and
- 10:35Speaker 4: co Insurance a Hub International company, so you're ready for tomorrow.
- 10:41Speaker 5: Recently, Kyle Larson got a chance to visit with the
- 10:43Speaker 5: Kansas City Chief. So, Kyle, had you ever done that
- 10:46Speaker 5: before or met those guys?
- 10:48Speaker 6: No?
- 10:48Speaker 7: I hadn't never met them before, but I went out
- 10:51Speaker 7: to the facility earlier this year. Brett Viach the manager there.
- 10:55Speaker 7: He's a I didn't know it until a couple of
- 10:57Speaker 7: years ago, but he's a big fan of mine. He
- 11:00Speaker 7: had us out and hosted us earlier this year, and
- 11:02Speaker 7: then he was able to kind of line it up
- 11:05Speaker 7: again this time, so it was really cool. We had
- 11:08Speaker 7: you know, Cliff out there, and Rudy Fugel is a
- 11:10Speaker 7: huge cheese fan, so you know, it was really neat
- 11:14Speaker 7: to be there, and we got to sit in the
- 11:17Speaker 7: quarterback meeting before their practice, so that was, you know,
- 11:20Speaker 7: really cool to see how they operate and kind of
- 11:22Speaker 7: prep for a practice. But yeah, that was kind of
- 11:25Speaker 7: a you know, once in a lifetime experience and it
- 11:28Speaker 7: was cool to do that. And everybody there's extremely extremely nice,
- 11:32Speaker 7: and like, you know, I think Brett is such a
- 11:34Speaker 7: big fan and talks about racing a lot. You know,
- 11:36Speaker 7: they kind of get it, so it's cool. I didn't
- 11:38Speaker 7: quite realize, you know, just being a casual fan of
- 11:41Speaker 7: you know, football, was how much work it actually is.
- 11:45Speaker 7: You know, Like I just look at big buff football
- 11:47Speaker 7: players and I'm like, oh, they just you know, probably
- 11:50Speaker 7: have a couple of meetings during the week, a couple
- 11:51Speaker 7: of practices and just lift and get big and strong.
- 11:54Speaker 7: And but it sounds like, yeah, I mean their weeks
- 11:57Speaker 7: are really long, you know, a lot of prep work.
- 12:00Speaker 7: Sounds like a lot of meetings, you know, And I
- 12:03Speaker 7: would say, by you know, game day, they're extremely prepared.
- 12:07Speaker 2: So this is the final app.
- 12:12Speaker 8: You're still glowing, flirting, grooving, you still got it. But
- 12:16Speaker 8: your immune system weakens as you age, making it harder
- 12:19Speaker 8: to fight flu, numacocoal, pneumonia, RSV, and COVID nineteen. Vaccines
- 12:24Speaker 8: are a key part of any health routine and health
- 12:26Speaker 8: strengthen your immune response. Ask your doctor a pharmacist which
- 12:30Speaker 8: vaccines you need. Schedule in minutes at vax assists dot com,
- 12:34Speaker 8: sponsored by Pfizer.
- 12:39Speaker 9: Let me tell you about this new pretzel Cheddar club. Hey,
- 12:42Speaker 9: I'm Carlos and I'm Ebony, and a little thing we
- 12:44Speaker 9: love about the Chick fil a Pretzel Cheddar Club is
- 12:47Speaker 9: the tangy deson with the pretzel bun. It takes it
- 12:49Speaker 9: to a whole nother level. It goes perfectly with the
- 12:52Speaker 9: chicken and the cheddar cheese and the bacon. Man, you
- 12:55Speaker 9: know how much you love bacon, and I love the
- 12:58Speaker 9: different varieties grilled spice the original. It gives you nice
- 13:01Speaker 9: and excited for fall.
- 13:03Speaker 1: Order the Pretzel Chatter Club with Cherry Varriansprite for a
- 13:05Speaker 1: limited time on the check fil A app.
- 13:07Speaker 2: Real guests paid for their testimonials.
- 13:09Speaker 10: It's Scott Clinton and all Willie Wednesday.
- 13:11Speaker 6: It's a sports Dot doct tradition.
- 13:14Speaker 11: Wednesday afternoons at four point thirty on the Zone eleven
- 13:16Speaker 11: AM and Willy's favorite station ninety three point seven half round.
- 13:54Speaker 1: Well that's right price right there. Well, Willie's on there, But.
- 14:04Speaker 2: Would you do me a favorite? Caleb?
- 14:06Speaker 1: Would you look up who wrote that song? I'm thinking
- 14:08Speaker 1: Cindy Walker may write that song. It is all Willie Wednesday.
- 14:11Speaker 1: Tomorrow on the show, We're gonna hear from Mississippi State
- 14:14Speaker 1: football coach Jeff Levy.
- 14:17Speaker 2: We're gonna hear from Will Lee.
- 14:20Speaker 1: We've got a high school report tomorrow, and we've got
- 14:23Speaker 1: the Clark Eisenhower Outdoor Edition tomorrow. Bob Wills wrote that song.
- 14:28Speaker 1: I should have known that. I should have known that
- 14:33Speaker 1: Bob Wills wrote a lot of great songs. In fact,
- 14:35Speaker 1: I was just talking to my friend about this on Saturday,
- 14:37Speaker 1: and of course I'm.
- 14:38Speaker 2: Old and I would have remembered that if I wasn't
- 14:40Speaker 2: so old.
- 14:41Speaker 1: Okay, Friday, Kirk Bowles and Tony Catalina with me on Friday,
- 14:48Speaker 1: and Young Ryan will be here in the studio along
- 14:51Speaker 1: with Old Will. And then Monday, of course the Writer's
- 14:55Speaker 1: Roundtable with Rusty and Cease. We'll talk about what happens
- 15:00Speaker 1: Saturday night against Mississippi State. On Mondays, Mike Elko visits
- 15:05Speaker 1: with the media. We carry that live at one thirty
- 15:10Speaker 1: on Mondays here on the Zone. But I know at
- 15:14Speaker 1: least half of my six listeners still have jobs and
- 15:17Speaker 1: you can't always tune in. Here is when we play
- 15:21Speaker 1: part of what he said on Monday. Here is part
- 15:24Speaker 1: two of Mike Elko.
- 15:26Speaker 2: So Bothwell and Booth.
- 15:28Speaker 12: They're running backs last weekend combined for like forty carries
- 15:32Speaker 12: for almost two hundred yards. You know when you see that,
- 15:36Speaker 12: does it kind of remind you of Notre Dame, of
- 15:38Speaker 12: facing a couple of running backs that are really talented,
- 15:41Speaker 12: but then you've got a quarterback that can that can
- 15:43Speaker 12: move around and throw it as well.
- 15:45Speaker 13: Yeah, I just think systematically it's a lot different. And
- 15:47Speaker 13: so yes, from a standpoint of talented, Yeah, for sure,
- 15:51Speaker 13: they're an extremely talented backfield. We saw that firsthand with
- 15:53Speaker 13: Booth last year. You know, he had a really good
- 15:56Speaker 13: day against us.
- 15:57Speaker 6: Last year. We didn't see the quarterback.
- 16:00Speaker 13: I thought they were a more efficient offense when he
- 16:02Speaker 13: was playing quarterback last year. There's certainly a more efficient
- 16:04Speaker 13: offense with him at quarterback.
- 16:06Speaker 6: This year.
- 16:09Speaker 13: It's just a different style of offense, and so the
- 16:12Speaker 13: plays come at you a little bit differently. And so
- 16:14Speaker 13: I don't know that you try that comparison Notre Dame.
- 16:16Speaker 13: You're just you know, you're feature in a really talented group.
- 16:20Speaker 13: David second Row.
- 16:21Speaker 14: On the right, Mike, has anything surprised you through four
- 16:28Speaker 14: games this year? Maybe somewhere we're better along than you
- 16:31Speaker 14: expected before the season started.
- 16:35Speaker 13: Probably the defensive line, you know, I think that was
- 16:38Speaker 13: one you know, you never know until you know. And
- 16:40Speaker 13: I think we were quietly hopeful. I think you knew
- 16:44Speaker 13: that from some of the conversations we had. I think
- 16:48Speaker 13: we felt like we were going against a really good
- 16:50Speaker 13: SEC offensive line. We felt like we were holding our own,
- 16:53Speaker 13: We felt like we would be able to rush the passer, like,
- 16:55Speaker 13: we felt like we were going to be able to
- 16:57Speaker 13: do some of those things.
- 17:01Speaker 6: To see that play out especially.
- 17:03Speaker 13: In the Notre Dame game and the Auburn game. I
- 17:05Speaker 13: think that's probably, you know, I don't know, I would
- 17:07Speaker 13: say complete surprise, but probably the biggest positive to take
- 17:11Speaker 13: away from what we were and then the explosive plays
- 17:13Speaker 13: on offense. You know, that was such a huge emphasis
- 17:16Speaker 13: in the offseason, and so for us to be able
- 17:18Speaker 13: to go down and do that, I think that's been
- 17:20Speaker 13: really good. Sorry, let's go to Carter next, because I
- 17:24Speaker 13: didn't mean to cut Carter off.
- 17:25Speaker 6: David raised his hand about six times.
- 17:30Speaker 15: You mentioned after the game about sort of the pressures
- 17:35Speaker 15: that they were doing on third down that gave you
- 17:37Speaker 15: guys some trouble. Was that like a protection call mess up?
- 17:41Speaker 15: Or is what kind of led you think to some
- 17:44Speaker 15: of those breakdowns?
- 17:45Speaker 13: Yeah, I mean some of it was just they had
- 17:47Speaker 13: more than we did, you know, and they did a
- 17:48Speaker 13: really good job. It was a credit to them, you know,
- 17:51Speaker 13: I don't know that we went into the game anticipating
- 17:55Speaker 13: some of the looks that we got.
- 17:57Speaker 6: In terms of sheer numbers.
- 18:00Speaker 13: They did a good job of kind of changing some
- 18:02Speaker 13: of the rhythm of how they brought some of the pressures.
- 18:05Speaker 13: I thought we adjusted as the game went on. And
- 18:08Speaker 13: had a bettle feel for it as the game went on.
- 18:11Speaker 6: But I think early on, I.
- 18:12Speaker 13: Think they sprung some things on us that maybe we
- 18:14Speaker 13: weren't ready for the way we should have been, And
- 18:16Speaker 13: that's on me, and that's on us as a staff.
- 18:19Speaker 15: And Mario Craver just his recruitment, What do you kind
- 18:22Speaker 15: of remember about it and what it took to kind
- 18:24Speaker 15: of land him.
- 18:26Speaker 6: Yeah, I just a lot of work.
- 18:28Speaker 13: Obviously, there was a little bit of a relationship with
- 18:31Speaker 13: coach Wigans. Coach Wigans, obviously, being from al was in
- 18:34Speaker 13: Alabama at Alabama at the time that Mario was coming
- 18:37Speaker 13: out of high school, and so there.
- 18:38Speaker 6: Was that level of familiarity.
- 18:40Speaker 13: There was obviously a huge need on our part to
- 18:42Speaker 13: get an explosive playmaker. I think that was attractive to him,
- 18:47Speaker 13: and we were able to get him here and get
- 18:48Speaker 13: him in the boat to the left.
- 18:51Speaker 16: Alex, you mentioned leading up to the season how much
- 18:54Speaker 16: getting Tyreek Chappell back would be a boost to your secondary.
- 18:57Speaker 16: Now that your four games in, just what has stood
- 18:59Speaker 16: out to you the most about what he's been able
- 19:00Speaker 16: to actually provide this secondary.
- 19:02Speaker 13: Yeah, it's been good to see him get healthy. Like
- 19:05Speaker 13: I don't know a lot of people asked about Leveon.
- 19:07Speaker 13: Leveon probably got back a little bit quicker even than
- 19:10Speaker 13: Tyreek did, just sometimes it plays itself out that way.
- 19:14Speaker 13: And so I think Tyreek has still been trying to
- 19:17Speaker 13: get healthy, and I think coming out of the bye
- 19:19Speaker 13: week that was the healthiest he's been. And I think
- 19:22Speaker 13: he had a really really good two weeks of practice
- 19:24Speaker 13: where he felt good, his knee felt good, he felt
- 19:27Speaker 13: like he was able to cut and start to kind
- 19:30Speaker 13: of grow and develop, and I think that showed Saturday.
- 19:33Speaker 13: I think Saturday was probably his most complete game of
- 19:35Speaker 13: the year, just from a coverage standpoint against some pretty
- 19:38Speaker 13: talented receivers. And what he does is just he adds
- 19:41Speaker 13: an ability to play slots a lot of different ways,
- 19:45Speaker 13: and I think when you have the ability to play
- 19:47Speaker 13: different ways on the slot, it gives you a lot
- 19:49Speaker 13: of flexibility and what you can do on defense.
- 19:52Speaker 16: And then you mentioned multiple times in the need to
- 19:54Speaker 16: clean up the penalties. Just how does that practically play
- 19:56Speaker 16: out during the week? Is that just classic sprints and updown?
- 20:00Speaker 16: Is there another method to that madness?
- 20:02Speaker 6: All right?
- 20:02Speaker 13: So I'll let you guys in So so I've tried
- 20:05Speaker 13: all kinds of things. So today, what we started was
- 20:08Speaker 13: the Texas A and M Football Coaches Cabo Fund, And
- 20:11Speaker 13: so what's going to happen now is every time one
- 20:14Speaker 13: of our players gets a penalty, they're going to contribute
- 20:16Speaker 13: to the Coaches Cabo Fund.
- 20:18Speaker 6: And so we'll see if that works.
- 20:22Speaker 13: Front left, Mark, weren't expecting that one?
- 20:30Speaker 6: Mark? Were you?
- 20:30Speaker 10: No?
- 20:31Speaker 6: No, that one's hard for that one cuts you off guard. Litle,
- 20:36Speaker 6: Just how much.
- 20:36Speaker 3: Of a luxury is that you have a healthy tyree,
- 20:39Speaker 3: have will Lee, and have des playing at this level.
- 20:42Speaker 6: How much more does it open up what you can
- 20:44Speaker 6: do defensively? Yeah, I think it does a lot.
- 20:46Speaker 13: I think it allows us to get into some structures
- 20:49Speaker 13: where there's less stress.
- 20:51Speaker 6: On the defensive line.
- 20:52Speaker 13: I think one of the one of the balancing acts
- 20:55Speaker 13: that maybe not everybody recognizes in this conference is when
- 20:59Speaker 13: you play some of the really talented receivers and you
- 21:01Speaker 13: don't match up, it forces a lot of what you
- 21:04Speaker 13: do on a first and second down basis for your
- 21:06Speaker 13: d line to maybe two gap or try to take
- 21:09Speaker 13: away different gaps so you can play short to the run,
- 21:12Speaker 13: so you can commit more to coverage. I think the
- 21:15Speaker 13: stronger you feel about your secondary cover guys. The more
- 21:19Speaker 13: they can get into isolation situations and you can feel
- 21:22Speaker 13: comfortable with that, the more that allows the defensive line
- 21:25Speaker 13: to be more single gap minded, get on edges. And
- 21:29Speaker 13: so I think that whole picture plays together hand in hand.
- 21:33Speaker 13: And so you know, those three kids are playing at
- 21:35Speaker 13: a pretty good level right now. If they can continue
- 21:37Speaker 13: to do that, I think we have a shot to
- 21:39Speaker 13: be pretty decent on defense.
- 21:41Speaker 16: Coach, We'll say to the left, we saw a Mari
- 21:43Speaker 16: Nyblack kind of pop for the first time. How is
- 21:46Speaker 16: the what's the kind of schematic advantage of having the
- 21:48Speaker 16: diversity of skill sets that's in that tight end room.
- 21:50Speaker 13: Yeah, I think it presents a lot of problems for
- 21:53Speaker 13: defenses in terms of how they match up with us.
- 21:55Speaker 13: And you know, the way that you would would match
- 21:58Speaker 13: up with a Mari is different than maybe the way
- 22:00Speaker 13: you would match up with Nate is maybe different than
- 22:02Speaker 13: the way you would match up with THEO. And I
- 22:04Speaker 13: just think it puts some stress on a defense to
- 22:07Speaker 13: figure out who's in the game and how they want
- 22:09Speaker 13: to handle that position. And then there's times where we've
- 22:11Speaker 13: got two of them on the field, and I think
- 22:13Speaker 13: that creates even more layers to it, and so those
- 22:17Speaker 13: two guys, those three guys have very diverse skill sets.
- 22:20Speaker 13: You also saw Michael Riley get in on Saturday a
- 22:22Speaker 13: good amount, and I think he's continuing to grow. He
- 22:24Speaker 13: was a little bit banged up in camp, and so
- 22:26Speaker 13: he's now healthy and had quite a few good weeks
- 22:29Speaker 13: of practice now, and so it's good to get him
- 22:31Speaker 13: and even adding another dimension to that room.
- 22:35Speaker 6: Coach, you'll stay the left, Matthew.
- 22:37Speaker 15: Coach, you talked a lot about fans having to get
- 22:40Speaker 15: rid of the whole battered Aggie syndrome and fear of losing.
- 22:42Speaker 15: How have you seen that transformation with the players, especially
- 22:45Speaker 15: closing out a one score game.
- 22:47Speaker 6: Yeah, for the record, I never brought any of that up.
- 22:49Speaker 13: That was always brought up to me, So I did
- 22:53Speaker 13: not get in front of any cameras and talk about
- 22:55Speaker 13: any syndromes. Those questions continue to get asked of me,
- 22:59Speaker 13: and I provide answers to them.
- 23:02Speaker 6: Yeah, I don't I don't know that. I don't know that.
- 23:05Speaker 6: I don't know that I would say that that.
- 23:06Speaker 13: Way for our players. What I would say about our
- 23:08Speaker 13: players is is And you guys who followed this program
- 23:11Speaker 13: know this. It's been a rough go for the kids
- 23:14Speaker 13: who have been in this program for four years.
- 23:16Speaker 6: Three years.
- 23:17Speaker 13: You know, they went through some losing, They went through
- 23:19Speaker 13: losing some close games, they went through some heartbreaking losses
- 23:22Speaker 13: down the stretch. We certainly experienced our fair share of
- 23:25Speaker 13: them last year as well, and so they're learning that
- 23:29Speaker 13: they have the ability to control the outcomes of the games.
- 23:32Speaker 13: And that's a that's a powerful mindset, right to know
- 23:35Speaker 13: that you can go out there and make the plays
- 23:37Speaker 13: that you need to make down the stretch to win
- 23:40Speaker 13: football games. And I think every time that happens, it
- 23:43Speaker 13: adds a little bit of confidence to what we're capable
- 23:46Speaker 13: of doing. And so, you know, it doesn't guarantee you
- 23:49Speaker 13: results moving forward, for sure, but I think when you
- 23:51Speaker 13: get in those situations, you feel a little bit more
- 23:54Speaker 13: comfortable and a little bit more confident that you can
- 23:56Speaker 13: get the job done.
- 23:58Speaker 17: Robert, of course, my question is about penalties. Sure, I mean,
- 24:02Speaker 17: there are good ones, and so my question was going
- 24:04Speaker 17: to be, you're going to probably have a few games,
- 24:07Speaker 17: So is there an over under in your mind?
- 24:09Speaker 6: Like four and five is like where's your cowbo line?
- 24:11Speaker 2: Where if you go over this Let's say this because
- 24:14Speaker 2: you're gonna have.
- 24:14Speaker 6: A few penalties.
- 24:15Speaker 13: Yeah, no, Listen, So I think the pre snap and
- 24:19Speaker 13: post snap ones drive you crazy.
- 24:20Speaker 6: As a coach. You should have zero of those.
- 24:22Speaker 13: Like we should never have false starts, we should never
- 24:24Speaker 13: have procedure penalties. We certainly shouldn't have things happening after
- 24:28Speaker 13: the whistle. Those are all disciplined things. Those all fall,
- 24:30Speaker 13: and I take those off very personally. Those are on me.
- 24:33Speaker 13: Those are the result of a.
- 24:34Speaker 6: Really poorly coached football team, and.
- 24:36Speaker 13: So that's how I feel about those. I think when
- 24:39Speaker 13: you talk about we used this word last year like
- 24:41Speaker 13: in action penalties, I think there's times where those are
- 24:45Speaker 13: going to come up. You know, there's so many fifty
- 24:49Speaker 13: to fifty situations that kids get into where you know,
- 24:52Speaker 13: one play they get away with something, one play they
- 24:53Speaker 13: don't get away with something, and inevitably those things will happen,
- 24:57Speaker 13: whether that's a holding penalty, whether that's a a defensive
- 25:00Speaker 13: holding penalty, something along those lines. I don't know that
- 25:04Speaker 13: I have a number, but you kind of evaluate, kind
- 25:07Speaker 13: of evaluate.
- 25:07Speaker 6: Each penalty as you look at it.
- 25:09Speaker 13: And you know, the thirteam that we had on Saturday,
- 25:13Speaker 13: I would probably say I was okay with two of them,
- 25:16Speaker 13: and so you know, that's not good. That's not where
- 25:19Speaker 13: we need to be, and that's that's not something that
- 25:21Speaker 13: I'm comfortable with. And again I can sit up here
- 25:23Speaker 13: and talk about it, but at the end of the day,
- 25:24Speaker 13: I got to get it fixed on the field and
- 25:26Speaker 13: that's my job, and so we're gonna try to get
- 25:28Speaker 13: that done.
- 25:29Speaker 6: Back to the right front row, Travis, Yeah, one world quick.
- 25:32Speaker 6: Going back on third downs, you mentioned they're just fun
- 25:34Speaker 6: for you.
- 25:34Speaker 16: When did that start and kind of what makes scheme
- 25:37Speaker 16: that up so much fun for you?
- 25:40Speaker 13: Probably probably all the way back to Bowling Green, to
- 25:43Speaker 13: be honest with you, and it kind of became a
- 25:45Speaker 13: little bit of a game we used to play with
- 25:47Speaker 13: like how many people did we have to bring to.
- 25:49Speaker 6: Get a free runner at the quarterback? We used to
- 25:51Speaker 6: try to find creative ways to you know, so like
- 25:54Speaker 6: you would look and you see.
- 25:55Speaker 13: A lot of teams run six or seven men pressures,
- 25:57Speaker 13: and I would always be like, oh, well that's easy.
- 25:59Speaker 13: If we have even and they have six, that's no fun.
- 26:01Speaker 13: Let's try to figure out creative ways where we can
- 26:03Speaker 13: bring a third guy and see if we can get
- 26:04Speaker 13: him free or a fourth guy.
- 26:05Speaker 6: And get him free.
- 26:06Speaker 13: And I think you started studying protection, started to kind
- 26:10Speaker 13: of find the nuances of how offens has worked. It
- 26:13Speaker 13: helped me as a coach being around offensive head coaches.
- 26:18Speaker 13: I've spoken a lot about that, but there's just a
- 26:21Speaker 13: different way obviously, offenses look at offensive football, and so
- 26:24Speaker 13: I never really grew up in that defensive culture, defensive mindset,
- 26:30Speaker 13: had a defensive mentor, and so I kind of had.
- 26:33Speaker 6: To figure a lot of stuff out and I did
- 26:35Speaker 6: a lot of it through an offensive lens. And maybe
- 26:37Speaker 6: that's where some of it comes from.
- 26:39Speaker 1: All Right, that's coach Elko from earlier on Monday, and
- 26:45Speaker 1: again he will be live a Monday at one thirty
- 26:50Speaker 1: following the Mississippi State game and ahead of the Florida game.
- 26:55Speaker 1: And then after Florida, it's like, you're not even gonna
- 26:59Speaker 1: remember there's a football team because I ain't coming back
- 27:01Speaker 1: for like five weeks after that. It's crazy, crazy that
- 27:05Speaker 1: tells you there is a open date in the middle
- 27:09Speaker 1: of all of that. But still, I'll.
- 27:12Speaker 2: Tell you what, let's do.
- 27:14Speaker 1: Let's do the Freddy's Fearless, can we, Caleb, Let's do

- 31:54Speaker 2: has said with us.
- 31:56Speaker 1: I've been holding this for about a week and I've
- 31:59Speaker 1: printed it out just to be able to why did
- 32:01Speaker 1: we talk about.
- 32:02Speaker 2: It last year and tell me what to do? And
- 32:06Speaker 2: maybe it's been since then. I've had it on my desk.
- 32:09Speaker 2: So the Dallas Morning News got their own.
- 32:12Speaker 1: Chefs together, including Tiffany Derry, very well known Dallas chef,
- 32:17Speaker 1: and several others, to rate the food at the State
- 32:21Speaker 1: Fair this year. Okay, now a panel rates the new stuff, right,
- 32:27Speaker 1: and we had already talked about one of the ones
- 32:31Speaker 1: that is getting the most buzz at the State Fair,
- 32:35Speaker 1: and that is the Wygu bacon cheeseburger, deviled egg sliders,
- 32:43Speaker 1: deviled eggs. Oh, I know, it just sounds terrific and
- 32:52Speaker 1: I'm going to break down.
- 32:53Speaker 20: And wait, don't don't.
- 32:57Speaker 1: Okay, it's number three. It didn't make it at top
- 33:01Speaker 1: and I didn't print off everything. I just know Number
- 33:04Speaker 1: one is like a fried taco from somewhere.
- 33:08Speaker 2: I don't know which booth it was.
- 33:10Speaker 1: I don't know why it was so scrumptious, but it
- 33:15Speaker 1: was a it was a fried taco and it kind
- 33:18Speaker 1: of looked like a Beera taco. But I wouldn't swear
- 33:21Speaker 1: to it. But so the waiku was three, so I
- 33:25Speaker 1: mean not terrible. I mean it's still they liked a lot, right, yeah, okay, Now,
- 33:30Speaker 1: and I don't usually do this either, but I've done
- 33:33Speaker 1: it before when when a particularly sweet entrance caught my attention.
- 33:41Speaker 1: And this is number one, okay, And it's it's in
- 33:45Speaker 1: the same it's in the tower building. It's in the
- 33:47Speaker 1: food court, so you don't have to go all over
- 33:49Speaker 1: this tea ferns that I don't know. No, it's Highland
- 33:53Speaker 1: Parks called Highland Park Soda Fountain in the food court. Okay,
- 33:58Speaker 1: the Highland Park Soda Fountain food court.
- 34:03Speaker 2: It's Texas toast Ala mode.
- 34:09Speaker 20: Texay moved your game to two thirty. This is a
- 34:11Speaker 20: breakfast thing.
- 34:13Speaker 1: I'm gonna get it when I get there, Okay, all right,
- 34:17Speaker 1: that'll be the first thing I have is is Texas
- 34:20Speaker 1: toast ala mode with bluebel.
- 34:26Speaker 2: It's like a.
- 34:26Speaker 1: Fried French toast with and I just I just put
- 34:35Speaker 1: it where it was. I didn't get the description. Can
- 34:37Speaker 1: you look that up for me? Tech Texas and it's
- 34:41Speaker 1: tex Apostrophe s t ex apostrophe s Texas toast a
- 34:48Speaker 1: la Mode. Okay, it's twenty bucks. I mean if I
- 34:54Speaker 1: get both of these, I'm out forty two bucks. I
- 34:57Speaker 1: usually buy about fifty dollars worth of tickets and that's
- 35:04Speaker 1: not going to cut it this year because I got
- 35:06Speaker 1: to have a corn dog. I know that's going to
- 35:09Speaker 1: be eight to ten tickets.
- 35:11Speaker 2: No, you think it's more yes this year?
- 35:15Speaker 5: Yes?
- 35:15Speaker 6: More?
- 35:16Speaker 2: Yes? Killing me? You're killing me? Holmes. You found it yet? Yeah?
- 35:25Speaker 2: What does it say about it? Texas is toast a
- 35:28Speaker 2: la Mode?
- 35:30Speaker 20: I got to tell him I'm not a robot.
- 35:31Speaker 2: Oh okay, I vouched for that. You need me to
- 35:36Speaker 2: tell them?
- 35:37Speaker 10: Okay.
- 35:38Speaker 20: I got to click the thing.
- 35:39Speaker 1: Okay, click the thing. We're going to see what this is.
- 35:43Speaker 1: Because it looked good when I read it. The description was,
- 35:48Speaker 1: I said, I want to go to there. I'm getting that,
- 35:53Speaker 1: And like I said, I've done it a couple of
- 35:54Speaker 1: times I had to peach some fried peach pie with icerons.
- 35:58Speaker 2: Huh yeah, okay.
- 36:01Speaker 20: Okay, vanilla ice cream, caramel, real maple syrup, and cinnamon
- 36:06Speaker 20: cereal crunch.
- 36:07Speaker 2: Cinnamon cereal crunch.
- 36:09Speaker 1: I'm not a huge cinnamon cereal crunch guy, but with
- 36:14Speaker 1: the caramel and the maple syrup and the ice cream,
- 36:18Speaker 1: I think we have to do that.
- 36:20Speaker 2: I'm going to share that I can't eat all of that.
- 36:23Speaker 20: Well, you can't eat all.
- 36:25Speaker 1: The Wygu bacon cheeseburger sliders, yes, no, and the.
- 36:29Speaker 20: Corn dog Wagu bacon cheeseburger.
- 36:32Speaker 2: Deviled egg slider legg sliders. That's a mouthful.
- 36:36Speaker 20: So what was the other one?
- 36:37Speaker 2: He said? The fried taco fried taco? Yeah yeah, And I.
- 36:43Speaker 1: Don't know if that's going to come up because that's
- 36:45Speaker 1: probably not the official.
- 36:46Speaker 20: The problem is is that it comes up.
- 36:49Speaker 2: Okay, and deep.
- 36:51Speaker 20: Fried Deli tacos New York Deli meats with meets Dallas
- 36:55Speaker 20: Takoia pastrami, mashed potatoes, cheese, and a corn corte you
- 37:00Speaker 20: fried and served with spicy green sauce.
- 37:03Speaker 1: I mean, it sounds pretty good, but not as good
- 37:06Speaker 1: as that Wygu bacon cheese burning slider.
- 37:09Speaker 20: What I want to know, is chip there are thrifty
- 37:16Speaker 20: Thursdays food for five dollars or less?
- 37:21Speaker 2: Sheh, popcorn?
- 37:22Speaker 1: No, you get popcorn or maybe a back of peanuts
- 37:25Speaker 1: for five dollars or less. Come on, I'm just saying,
- 37:31Speaker 1: I bet it's nothing that you'd want that you have
- 37:35Speaker 1: to have. I bet I bet Fletchers ain't doing no
- 37:38Speaker 1: five dollars corny dogs on thrifty Thursday. By the way,
- 37:45Speaker 1: there was just an article about the State Fair and
- 37:49Speaker 1: one of the Fletcher's girl who has taken over kind
- 37:52Speaker 1: of the empire, the granddaughter or something like that. Yeah,
- 37:56Speaker 1: she's expecting a child right during the state Fair.
- 38:00Speaker 2: Oh that's not good, Yeah she was.
- 38:01Speaker 1: She was going, well, I don't want the date on
- 38:04Speaker 1: October the eleventh. She said, that's not good. That's our
- 38:08Speaker 1: busiest right, our busiest day can't be October eleven. They go, no,
- 38:12Speaker 1: it's it'll be a little laughter.
- 38:13Speaker 20: That she should have been uced today.
- 38:15Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly. Well, and that was on the table that
- 38:18Speaker 1: was discussed. All right, so I've got some point.
- 38:24Speaker 21: How much how many tickets is a wagu Well, it's
- 38:30Speaker 21: each ticket is going to be a dollar this year probably, right, Yes,
- 38:33Speaker 21: they are a dollar.
- 38:34Speaker 1: Twenty two tickets. Oh you talking about Thursdays. No, I'm
- 38:37Speaker 1: just saying twenty two tickets. And what did I say
- 38:40Speaker 1: at the football game last week? You said twenty three?
- 38:43Speaker 1: So you were right on it. I thought you were crazy,
- 38:46Speaker 1: but you were right on it. It's going to be expensive, man, expensive.
- 38:52Speaker 1: I don't know if I can afford to eat this
- 38:53Speaker 1: stuff anymore.
- 38:55Speaker 2: Well, normally it's just a corn dog.
- 38:57Speaker 1: I mean, you know it's just a corn dog. So
- 39:02Speaker 1: so I had a corn dog last year at about
- 39:05Speaker 1: nine thirty, right, because if you wait too long, you're
- 39:09Speaker 1: just waiting half the day.
- 39:10Speaker 20: In the cooation season, wagu beef patty with cheddar and
- 39:14Speaker 20: bacon sandwich between two fried pancoa crusted deviled egg halves
- 39:20Speaker 20: with a Ketchup inspired sauce.
- 39:23Speaker 2: I'm telling you it's a winter I hope.
- 39:26Speaker 1: I'm not disappointed when you build yourself up for this
- 39:29Speaker 1: kind of stuff, you know, because like the peach, the
- 39:32Speaker 1: peach was good.
- 39:33Speaker 2: Don't get me wrong.
- 39:34Speaker 20: I ate the peach until they stopped serving it.
- 39:36Speaker 2: I mean it was passed on other stuff. No, no,
- 39:38Speaker 2: I get it. To get it.
- 39:39Speaker 1: It had whipped cream, not ice cream. I would have
- 39:43Speaker 1: liked it better with ice cream. But the whip cream
- 39:45Speaker 1: it was good. I'm not saying it wasn't good. You know,
- 39:48Speaker 1: I've had good stuff there. We had the fried the
- 39:52Speaker 1: fried bacon was probably a little disappointing. That was a
- 39:55Speaker 1: few years ago.
- 39:56Speaker 20: For all the parents out there. Yeah, it's a long
- 39:59Speaker 20: day when you aren't the fair.
- 40:00Speaker 2: Oh my gosh.
- 40:01Speaker 20: Okay, yeah, it's a long day.
- 40:03Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 40:04Speaker 20: So I have one thing that you should listen to.
- 40:08Speaker 2: This man, he's an expert.
- 40:10Speaker 20: The Yabba Dabado for kids only. Okay, okay, dirty sprite
- 40:17Speaker 20: with crunchy ice, pebbles, strawberry and green apple syrus, fresh mango, strawberries,
- 40:23Speaker 20: coconut cream, skittles, lemonheads, pineapple slice, pop cream, Chewi roops,
- 40:29Speaker 20: and a sprinkle of fruity pebbles.
- 40:30Speaker 1: Okay, So here's what I would suggest with that. Okay,
- 40:36Speaker 1: if you're going in the morning, yes, that's the first thing. Yes,
- 40:39Speaker 1: And then by noon they will be crashed out, the
- 40:43Speaker 1: sugar will be gone, and you can take them home
- 40:46Speaker 1: and they won't remember anything that happened. You won't have
- 40:49Speaker 1: to stay eight hours. Get that when you first get there,
- 40:53Speaker 1: and then the sugar rush is done. And when it's done,
- 40:57Speaker 1: they are collapsed. But you might think about this, if
- 41:03Speaker 1: you have even older kids, you might think about renting
- 41:06Speaker 1: a stroller. Yes, so you can wheel them out of
- 41:09Speaker 1: there right when the young the young young ones. I
- 41:14Speaker 1: can't imagine after you know, a couple of a taste
- 41:18Speaker 1: of that, because you're gonna be chasing them. You need
- 41:22Speaker 1: to enter them in the pig races because you're gonna
- 41:24Speaker 1: be chasing them all over the fair. But eventually that
- 41:29Speaker 1: sugar is gonna come down. So well, good, good talk,
- 41:33Speaker 1: all right, we need a break, we'll come back.
- 41:36Speaker 20: San Diego. Three Cubs zero three nothing?
- 41:38Speaker 2: Is that the final?
- 41:39Speaker 20: No? Okay, but some guy from the A's is still pitching.
- 41:42Speaker 1: Yes, three nothing in the eighth inning. Uh, San Diego.
- 41:45Speaker 1: They're trying to force a game three. The Texans Report

- 42:24Speaker 22: As the Houston Texans prepare for the Baltimore Ravens and
- 42:27Speaker 22: looked to build off last week's shut out win over
- 42:29Speaker 22: the Tennessee Titans, news broke yesterday regarding the status of
- 42:32Speaker 22: Ravens quarterback and two time MVP Lamar Jackson, who left
- 42:36Speaker 22: Baltimore's loss in Kansas City with a hamstring injury on
- 42:39Speaker 22: Sunday and did not return to the game. The Baltimore
- 42:42Speaker 22: Sun reporting Lamar Jackson is likely to miss Sunday's game,
- 42:46Speaker 22: but head coach John Harbaugh wouldn't confirm Jackson's status for
- 42:49Speaker 22: Sunday one way or the other. If Jackson can't go
- 42:52Speaker 22: for the Baltimore Ravens, Cooper Rush would likely be the
- 42:55Speaker 22: next man up under center for the Ravens.
- 42:58Speaker 2: The Texans will need to prepare for both quarterbacks.
- 43:00Speaker 22: As for the injury updates on the Houston Texans side
- 43:03Speaker 22: of things, Joe Mixon remains out of commission and the

- 46:48Speaker 1: There ain't no need. So that's the end of the
- 46:51Speaker 1: eighth inning. It's three nothing San Diego. Still they're trying
- 46:55Speaker 1: to create Game three tomorrow. I was Fernando Tatis.
- 47:02Speaker 20: I was very disappointed last night in I actually got
- 47:07Speaker 20: to see the bottom of the first inning in the
- 47:10Speaker 20: Dodgers game.
- 47:11Speaker 2: Okay, I did not.
- 47:13Speaker 20: So I the Yankees. Yankees lose, right, and they switch
- 47:19Speaker 20: over yep, and it's a two in one count to
- 47:23Speaker 20: sho heyo Tani. Okay, in the bottom of the first inning. Okay,
- 47:28Speaker 20: first batter bottom of the first inning only hit it
- 47:31Speaker 20: four hundred and sixty feet.
- 47:33Speaker 1: He did not hit it four hundred and sixty feet.
- 47:36Speaker 1: He hit the one in this either the sixth inning
- 47:38Speaker 1: or the eighth inning. His second home run was four
- 47:41Speaker 1: hundred and fifty four feet. I do know that as
- 47:44Speaker 1: a fact, four hundred and fifty four feet. That was
- 47:46Speaker 1: his second home run of the game. Yeah, and they
- 47:50Speaker 1: looked pretty good. But when you hit the ball, you
- 47:52Speaker 1: look pretty good. I must say that not having a
- 47:58Speaker 1: dog in the fight in the playoffs is certainly more
- 48:02Speaker 1: relaxing than like agonizing over every pitch of the playoffs.
- 48:10Speaker 1: And if you go deep, that's a lot of agonizing
- 48:12Speaker 1: and a lot of pitches, So I don't really care
- 48:15Speaker 1: who wins, and frankly, I don't really care enough.
- 48:19Speaker 2: Who loses either in these games.
- 48:21Speaker 1: So I'm just kind of watching as a sports fan,
- 48:25Speaker 1: and I don't mind that too often. But I it's
- 48:30Speaker 1: been a bad habit over the years, but it's it's different.
- 48:35Speaker 20: So why, uh, why did your old Rangers get rid
- 48:41Speaker 20: of their manager?
- 48:43Speaker 2: I don't know the answer to that question.
- 48:45Speaker 20: And why did everybody I sent that text to send
- 48:48Speaker 20: me a message back sayin I've expected.
- 48:50Speaker 1: This, well you didn't send it to the right people.
- 48:54Speaker 1: I wasn't surprised. I wouldn't say I was expecting it,
- 48:57Speaker 1: but I was not surprised. There's a difference. I wasn't surprised. Okay,
- 49:07Speaker 1: I don't like it. And unless Skip Schumacher becomes a
- 49:13Speaker 1: Hall of Fame manager while with the Rangers over the
- 49:17Speaker 1: next ten years, that'll be fine.
- 49:20Speaker 20: Okay, but what are the chances of that?
- 49:24Speaker 2: About one percent?
- 49:27Speaker 1: About one percent, which would be the chances that he's
- 49:31Speaker 1: a better manager than Bruce Bochie. Yeah, despite the fact
- 49:35Speaker 1: that he's Chris Young's golden child.
- 49:38Speaker 2: So I don't like it.
- 49:42Speaker 1: Can't get equal value for for a Hall of Famer,
- 49:44Speaker 1: either on or off.
- 49:45Speaker 20: This completely taints Chris Young as your ge.
- 49:49Speaker 1: I like Chris Young. I've always liked him. I like
- 49:51Speaker 1: him personally. I think he's a bright guy. Let me see,
- 49:57Speaker 1: give me, give me a year and see what Schumacher does,
- 50:01Speaker 1: and give me a year to see what they do.
- 50:05Speaker 2: He's already told Boachie.
- 50:06Speaker 1: Apparently that hey, we're going to be younger next year
- 50:10Speaker 1: and the payroll is going to be a lot less
- 50:12Speaker 1: next year.
- 50:13Speaker 20: What and so how's the payroll going to get? Well?
- 50:17Speaker 1: I guess they're trying to and they're gonna have to
- 50:20Speaker 1: pay to get rid of Simeon and or Seeker.
- 50:23Speaker 2: They're gonna have to pay.
- 50:24Speaker 20: Why would you get rid of them, Chip, They're the
- 50:28Speaker 20: middle of your order. Garcia is a free agent. I understand.
- 50:32Speaker 2: Garcia is gone gone. Yeah, he's gone. What do you
- 50:37Speaker 2: mean he's gone? He's out. He will not be back.
- 50:40Speaker 2: He's not coming back as a rager.
- 50:42Speaker 1: So and I think they're probably I don't think they
- 50:50Speaker 1: can get.
- 50:50Speaker 2: Much for Sibbyon.
- 50:51Speaker 1: Frankly, I mean he's thirty, what's seven dowd had? Obviously
- 50:57Speaker 1: he's been he's not on a guaranteed contract though, is yes.
- 51:00Speaker 13: He is.
- 51:01Speaker 1: He's on a guaranteed contract and they still owe him
- 51:04Speaker 1: about I don't know, seventy bazillion dollars.
- 51:06Speaker 6: I think so.
- 51:07Speaker 1: And they still owe Corey Seeger about seventy bazillion dollars.
- 51:11Speaker 1: But I do think there's a market for Corey Seger,
- 51:14Speaker 1: even though the last couple of years, I know he's
- 51:17Speaker 1: getting older, but he win healthy. He's been great. But
- 51:21Speaker 1: that's the problem, right, Yes, Simeon's been an iron man.
- 51:24Speaker 1: He just hadn't been real good. Unfortunately. The second half
- 51:28Speaker 1: of the season was he was pretty dang good and
- 51:31Speaker 1: then he got hurt. And he's not been hurt. He
- 51:34Speaker 1: has been an iron man. They have had to drag
- 51:37Speaker 1: him out of the lineup.
- 51:38Speaker 20: Maybe you should have rested him the a little bit more.
- 51:42Speaker 1: You know, with an injury like that is can you
- 51:45Speaker 1: say that res would a hell? Probably not so I'm
- 51:49Speaker 1: not you know, boch, He's gonna put him in the lineup.
- 51:53Speaker 1: And actually they did sit him down a couple especially
- 51:56Speaker 1: when he was struggling. He was very unusual. But he
- 51:59Speaker 1: did say him down for one or two games, you
- 52:02Speaker 1: know early.
- 52:03Speaker 20: Uh, so you still have given me no reason why
- 52:05Speaker 20: Boachi can't be your coach. He doesn't I doesn't know
- 52:08Speaker 20: how to treat great grandchildren.
- 52:10Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know that.
- 52:11Speaker 1: I don't know why Boachi is can't be your manager
- 52:15Speaker 1: because I still I think he still wants to uh manage.
- 52:22Speaker 20: But the San Francisco is not going to take you.
- 52:24Speaker 1: I don't know that either come out. I just oh,
- 52:27Speaker 1: really yes, but well who are they? Who are they taking?
- 52:30Speaker 20: I don't know. But the Morning News is saying that
- 52:32Speaker 20: Boach is not going to be.
- 52:33Speaker 1: The Wow manager of that's Evan Grant that says this.
- 52:38Speaker 1: H hold on, Okay, If Evan Grant says it, it's
- 52:42Speaker 1: it's true. A little bit surprising because I know Buster
- 52:46Speaker 1: Posey and him are obviously he managed Buster Posey during
- 52:50Speaker 1: the Heyday, and I think Buster Posey.
- 52:53Speaker 20: Well, Buster Posey also understands that, uh if he's not
- 52:57Speaker 20: winning every other year, well, well I.
- 53:01Speaker 2: Don't I don't think.
- 53:01Speaker 1: I don't think San Francisco, Uh, you know, is a
- 53:05Speaker 1: great situation right now.
- 53:07Speaker 2: I mean I'm not I'm not sure they're Buster Posey
- 53:12Speaker 2: rules out there. It is, there's the headlines. Okay, surprised, Yeah,
- 53:19Speaker 2: the door is open for some sort of role, some
- 53:22Speaker 2: sort of role.
- 53:23Speaker 1: Well he was offered some sort of role with the Rangers, right,
- 53:26Speaker 1: and I just don't He's seventy one. I don't see
- 53:30Speaker 1: him unless the Rangers could work something out like hey, Bruce,
- 53:35Speaker 1: you can go home with your grandkids and and we'll
- 53:40Speaker 1: call you and text you and zoom with you. Uh,
- 53:43Speaker 1: you know, when we've got questions or we want help
- 53:46Speaker 1: or whatever, and he might do something like that.
- 53:50Speaker 2: I would really would be So I would be.
- 53:52Speaker 1: Surprised if he took a San Francisco role unless it
- 53:57Speaker 1: was a similar role.
- 53:58Speaker 2: He ain't moving with.
- 54:00Speaker 1: His wife to San Francisco, I don't believe. Yeah, So
- 54:04Speaker 1: I'm not happy about it. And the bottom line is
- 54:06Speaker 1: I'm not happy about it. I don't think they can
- 54:10Speaker 1: improve on what they had. I know they can't because
- 54:13Speaker 1: they're not hiring a Hall of Fame guy.
- 54:16Speaker 6: See.
- 54:16Speaker 20: The best manager the Rangers have ever had.
- 54:19Speaker 1: In my opinion, absolutely is, absolutely is Johnny Oaks will
- 54:25Speaker 1: be two and wash would be three.
- 54:26Speaker 2: In my mind.
- 54:27Speaker 1: And then you can go from there if you want
- 54:29Speaker 1: to go to Bobby Valentine or whoever, but Billy Martin
- 54:32Speaker 1: not in, then Billy Martin is way up there. Yeah,
