- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey, Junior asked me a question earlier day. Junior, what
- 0:04Speaker 1: was your question earlier? Yeah?
- 0:05Speaker 2: I was saying, you know, how do you deal with
- 0:07Speaker 2: people who always forget all the things you've done for them,
- 0:10Speaker 2: you know, and they tear you down as soon as
- 0:13Speaker 2: you don't do anything they ask you to do, So
- 0:14Speaker 2: the one time you can't do it, you nothing to them.
- 0:18Speaker 1: Well, you know, it's because the average person has selective memory,
- 0:25Speaker 1: and the majority of people that you know live under
- 0:28Speaker 1: the what have you done for me lately? Banner? And
- 0:31Speaker 1: if you around people like that, you definitely have to
- 0:34Speaker 1: change your environment with these people. You have to rid
- 0:38Speaker 1: yourself with people like that. See, what you're not going
- 0:41Speaker 1: to do is constantly make me the reason why you ain't. Yeah,
- 0:46Speaker 1: I'm not gonna keep being the reason that you ain't.
- 0:50Speaker 1: Do you understand that you ain't because of you? It
- 0:54Speaker 1: really has nothing to do with me. I am not
- 0:58Speaker 1: going to be the reason why you didn't make it.
- 1:01Speaker 1: I'm not gonna be the reason you're not successful or happy.
- 1:04Speaker 1: I'm not going to be the reason, and I'm not
- 1:06Speaker 1: going to exist within your boundaries that keep me confined
- 1:10Speaker 1: to that role in your life. And people often forget
- 1:16Speaker 1: because they have selective memory. Let me ask you a question,
- 1:20Speaker 1: But the last time somebody came up to you and said, hey, listen,
- 1:24Speaker 1: I know you helped me in eighty five and I
- 1:26Speaker 1: really appreciate that. Then I came back in eighty seven,
- 1:29Speaker 1: you came through again. Then when ninety came, you really
- 1:32Speaker 1: helped me out, man, And I didn't never pay you
- 1:34Speaker 1: back a number. Then ninety five I got in another crisscross,
- 1:37Speaker 1: and here you was again. And you've always been there
- 1:39Speaker 1: for me. And in two thousand and then you bailed
- 1:41Speaker 1: me out again and I couldn't afford to pay you back, man.
- 1:45Speaker 1: And that and there's twenty fifteen or something else happened
- 1:48Speaker 1: and you was there for me. It was it was
- 1:50Speaker 1: twenty twenty five. And man, you've done so much for me,
- 1:55Speaker 1: and I really I really shouldn't even ask you for
- 1:58Speaker 1: anything else because of all the things you've done for me,
- 2:01Speaker 1: you really don't owe me anything. As a matter of fact.
- 2:05Speaker 1: You know what, man, Now that I went over the
- 2:06Speaker 1: inventory of everything that is, and man, let me just
- 2:09Speaker 1: go on about my business because you've already done enough
- 2:12Speaker 1: for me. You ever heard that speech before? Nope, you
- 2:20Speaker 1: probably never will because people have selective memory, they forget
- 2:25Speaker 1: all of that. They just want what they want now.
- 2:29Speaker 1: But see, why is it me that has to be
- 2:32Speaker 1: the fix for you? See I often say, if you
- 2:37Speaker 1: didn't have my number, who would you call? Well, dog,
- 2:41Speaker 1: gonna get to calling because I'm not going to be
- 2:45Speaker 1: it every time something goes wrong. Stop allowing people to
- 2:51Speaker 1: make you the reason. Stop allowing your children to make
- 2:57Speaker 1: you the reason why they are aren't where they want
- 3:01Speaker 1: to be. Look, we've all made mistakes as parents, Lord
- 3:06Speaker 1: knows I have. I've made a plenty mistakes, but I've
- 3:10Speaker 1: tried to correct them. Some of them got corrected, some
- 3:15Speaker 1: of them were just lessons that everybody had to learn
- 3:17Speaker 1: them and me. But you will not, as an adult,
- 3:21Speaker 1: keep hanging it over my head or why I wasn't
- 3:24Speaker 1: there when you needed me back then, because every time
- 3:28Speaker 1: you ask me for something, now I'm here. So I'm
- 3:31Speaker 1: gonna stop being the reason why you ain't where you
- 3:34Speaker 1: want to be because I keep trying to get you somewhere,
- 3:38Speaker 1: But you're not gonna keep making it about me. No,
- 3:40Speaker 1: and it's not my job. At one point in time,
- 3:43Speaker 1: a person has to be responsible for themselves, because haven't
- 3:47Speaker 1: you had to be responsible for yourself. Haven't you had
- 3:51Speaker 1: to be the one the whole time to take care
- 3:54Speaker 1: of you. The majority of people who are trying to
- 4:00Speaker 1: climb the letter success, you don't have a lot of
- 4:04Speaker 1: people you can go to when something go wrong. Think
- 4:06Speaker 1: about it. Who can you pick up the phone right
- 4:10Speaker 1: now and just ask them to bail you out? Do
- 4:15Speaker 1: you know how hard that is? Because on your journey
- 4:18Speaker 1: to success, it's a lonely road. Ricky Minor had the
- 4:23Speaker 1: title Level Book, a book that I absolutely loved. The
- 4:25Speaker 1: title of his book was, Ain't no traffic on the
- 4:28Speaker 1: Extra Mile? Because y'all out there on that extra mile
- 4:33Speaker 1: trying to do more. Ain't no traffic out there. So
- 4:35Speaker 1: it ain't a lot of help out there. But somebody
- 4:39Speaker 1: always feel like they can call you for help. You
- 4:43Speaker 1: ever noticed that? How you always the one? Ain't that crazy?
- 4:49Speaker 1: Now you can't call them for a slice of pie,
- 4:54Speaker 1: But they got your number on speed dial, and here
- 4:58Speaker 1: they come with that guilt. I know you got it.
- 5:02Speaker 1: I've been watching you. I'm so proud of you. Who
- 5:04Speaker 1: you're doing all that you on them shows. Hey, listen,
- 5:07Speaker 1: we guide ourselves in a bad spot. Yes you did,
- 5:11Speaker 1: Yes you did, And you know what I think you
- 5:14Speaker 1: ought to do. I think I think you ought to
- 5:17Speaker 1: work yourself out that bad spot, because you know what
- 5:21Speaker 1: I have to do. Whenever I get in a bad spot,
- 5:23Speaker 1: I gotta work myself out of it. I got to
- 5:27Speaker 1: get myself through it. But because of my relationship with God,
- 5:33Speaker 1: I always, I always get through it. He ain't ever
- 5:37Speaker 1: let me down. Now it's been tight, it's been a struggle.
- 5:43Speaker 1: My head is bloody but unbound. Man, I'm not gonna
- 5:49Speaker 1: keep being the one to have to fix your life
- 5:52Speaker 1: when I can't call you to get a slice of pie.
- 5:55Speaker 1: Stop being the bouncing board for everybody and take care
- 5:59Speaker 1: of yourself because if they didn't have you, they'd figured out.
- 6:03Speaker 1: Let them get to figure that out. It don't have
- 6:06Speaker 1: to be you. Those are my close remarks today, do
- 6:09Speaker 1: yourself a favor. Talk to God today. You would absolutely
- 6:12Speaker 1: love to hear from it. For all Steve Harvey contests,
