- 0:03Speaker 2: Hands to Hester, and Hester, yep, got it, five out
- 0:07Speaker 2: of five.
- 0:07Speaker 1: From carrying each other to a natty to carrying each
- 0:10Speaker 1: other on the air.
- 0:11Speaker 3: Flynn is back to throw for the end zone ball.
- 0:16Speaker 1: Live from the Raising Cane Studio, it's Off the Bench.
- 0:19Speaker 4: I can't stand it. All right, welcome back in.
- 0:51Speaker 3: OTB here live from the Raising Cane Studio. Jake Flynn, Alondra,
- 0:56Speaker 3: Tay-Tay all here with you on a Thursday morning. Getting
- 1:02Speaker 3: ready for, well, a very exciting football weekend, I think,
- 1:05Speaker 3: to say the least here. Mine starts tonight.
- 1:08Speaker 4: A little U-High and Plaquemine across the river. What are they?
- 1:14Speaker 5: The Green Devils.
- 1:15Speaker 4: Green Devils.
- 1:16Speaker 5: Ponchatoula's the Green Wave.
- 1:17Speaker 3: Ponchatoula's the Green Wave, yeah. Tate, you're supposed to be
- 1:21Speaker 3: the one that gives me the scouting report. You tell
- 1:23Speaker 3: me Plaquemines pretty good.
- 1:24Speaker 5: Yeah, they got some size on them, which I know
- 1:27Speaker 5: we talked about it against Rumble like that. It's kind
- 1:29Speaker 5: of an issue for you high this year. Let's just
- 1:31Speaker 5: be honest. But yeah, the Green Wave. I keep calling
- 1:34Speaker 5: the Green Wave Green Devils. They're they got some size or.
- 1:37Speaker 4: Salty, huh?
- 1:38Speaker 6: All right.
- 1:38Speaker 5: It's that Plaquemines.
- 1:40Speaker 4: It is good field. Love it. Love it. It's field. Oh, yeah.
- 1:45Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm sure it's going to be fun going straight
- 1:48Speaker 3: from the radio show at 5 o'clock to go over
- 1:49Speaker 3: the bridge.
- 1:50Speaker 6: Oh, it'll be great. No, it's going to be fine, actually.
- 1:52Speaker 4: It's going to be great. It's going to be good.
- 1:54Speaker 6: Take the ferry.
- 1:56Speaker 4: Thought about it. It's right by the house, kind of.
- 1:57Speaker 6: That's not going to be fun at all. You're not
- 2:01Speaker 6: going to make it.
- 2:03Speaker 4: Sorry. Not going to make it by kick? Nope, you're
- 2:05Speaker 4: not going to make it by kick. Two hours to
- 2:07Speaker 4: make it across, like a 40-minute drive.
- 2:08Speaker 5: I feel like Arnold on Jingle All the Way. Just
- 2:11Speaker 5: take that shoulder.
- 2:11Speaker 6: That's true.
- 2:14Speaker 5: But he didn't make it either.
- 2:15Speaker 4: That's also another fair point. Terrible man.
- 2:19Speaker 6: Shout out to my youngest, Hemi. She is going to
- 2:24Speaker 6: be performing at the game tonight.
- 2:27Speaker 4: Not a big deal.
- 2:28Speaker 6: She did a little cheer thing. Kitty Cup Cheer Camp.
- 2:31Speaker 6: Shout out. Performing.
- 2:33Speaker 4: Cheering. She's been working on her cheers the last couple nights.
- 2:35Speaker 4: Like at the varsity game?
- 2:35Speaker 6: Oh, yeah. Varsity game. That's a big stage. It's a
- 2:38Speaker 6: big deal.
- 2:39Speaker 7: How exciting.
- 2:40Speaker 6: She's nervous.
- 2:44Speaker 4: I don't know how to really pronounce this name.
- 2:47Speaker 6: College-iate?
- 2:49Speaker 5: Collegiate prep?
- 2:50Speaker 6: Collegiate prep, yep. There you go.
- 2:54Speaker 4: No, it's not prep. College-iate.
- 2:56Speaker 6: College-iate.
- 2:57Speaker 8: I refuse to believe that you didn't know that that
- 3:00Speaker 8: said collegiate.
- 3:02Speaker 7: That has to be a bit.
- 3:05Speaker 4: That's a bit?
- 3:05Speaker 3: There's no way that your college-educated mind just said college-iate.
- 3:11Speaker 4: College-iate. You'll never know.
- 3:14Speaker 6: I think they're the Dolphins.
- 3:16Speaker 4: Yes, they are. Are they Dolphins for real?
- 3:18Speaker 5: I only knew because that's the only collegiate prep around.
- 3:21Speaker 4: I'm like, bruh. Yeah, collegiate. We play them most years.
- 3:26Speaker 4: I don't know if we do this year.
- 3:27Speaker 7: I have no words.
- 3:28Speaker 4: I don't know what to say. I don't know how
- 3:29Speaker 4: to pivot.
- 3:30Speaker 3: I wish this would have been at 9-12 and not
- 3:32Speaker 3: 9-03 so I could just go to break.
- 3:35Speaker 4: Look, I say words wrong all the time. I do.
- 3:38Speaker 4: This one might be.
- 3:38Speaker 6: These are the Dolphins.
- 3:40Speaker 4: This one might be in the.
- 3:41Speaker 5: He's just trying to move on.
- 3:43Speaker 4: This one might be in the Smithsonian.
- 3:44Speaker 7: The doll pins? The doll pins?
- 3:47Speaker 4: The doll pins.
- 3:48Speaker 6: How's it going? I like that.
- 3:51Speaker 4: This is in the Smithsonian of words pronounced, though.
- 3:55Speaker 6: You're welcome.
- 3:57Speaker 4: Clip it. You're now the top spot. You're the main attraction.
- 4:02Speaker 6: You're going to do something. Be the best.
- 4:05Speaker 5: No, you said collegiate.
- 4:06Speaker 4: Collegiate. Collegiate. I don't really know how to pronounce this one.
- 4:09Speaker 4: I don't know how to pronounce that word. Oh, my God.
- 4:12Speaker 6: I don't think that's the way you should spell it.
- 4:14Speaker 6: If I had to. If I had to, like, pick
- 4:18Speaker 6: and choose if I was in charge of it. Oh, man.
- 4:23Speaker 7: My jaw dropped.
- 4:31Speaker 4: Oh, man.
- 4:32Speaker 7: That was incredible.
- 4:34Speaker 6: Thank you.
- 4:34Speaker 7: Some of your best work yet.
- 4:35Speaker 6: Thank you.
- 4:36Speaker 4: Well done.
- 4:37Speaker 5: It might be getting clipped.
- 4:37Speaker 7: No, we'll see. There's no might. That has to be.
- 4:41Speaker 6: MSJ would never.
- 4:48Speaker 5: Somebody in the chat said, Flynn owns a business and
- 4:51Speaker 5: can't pronounce collegiate.
- 4:54Speaker 4: Say that again.
- 4:56Speaker 5: It says, Flynn owns a business and.
- 4:58Speaker 4: He can't pronounce collegiate. I don't know where to go.
- 5:00Speaker 4: I just don't.
- 5:02Speaker 7: Have we heard about Pella yet?
- 5:06Speaker 4: Go to PalaGroup.com. That's P-A-L-A Group. PalaGroup.com. Pala, Pala, Pala.
- 5:13Speaker 4: They've been around for a while, Matt. How long? Years.
- 5:24Speaker 6: In the Gulf Coast area.
- 5:26Speaker 2: Oof.
- 5:28Speaker 4: Got tears in my eyes.
- 5:29Speaker 6: Mm-hmm. I feel like I nailed it this segment.
- 5:32Speaker 3: When you need a company that knows how to handle
- 5:34Speaker 3: tough jobs and tough words and they want to get
- 5:37Speaker 3: it done right, that's where Pala Group comes in. Pala
- 5:40Speaker 3: brings experience, safety, quality work to industrial construction, maintenance, fabrication,
- 5:45Speaker 3: and specialty services across the Gulf, South, and beyond.
- 5:49Speaker 4: Built on the reputation by taking care of people. Taking
- 5:52Speaker 4: care of customers. Taking care of their employees. Employee-owned, relationship-driven.
- 5:57Speaker 4: Go to pallagroup.com. P-A-L-L-A group.com.
- 6:00Speaker 6: Well, I'll just say it. Doll pins. That was fantastic.
- 6:03Speaker 8: Matt, I need you to know that you're setting a
- 6:05Speaker 8: new standard every single day. So yesterday, I remember somebody
- 6:08Speaker 8: texted us during your list, and they were like, this
- 6:12Speaker 8: list might be Matt's low point of the show.
- 6:14Speaker 6: Okay, yeah.
- 6:14Speaker 8: They just texted, I was wrong about that list being
- 6:16Speaker 8: Matt's low point of the show. Okay.
- 6:20Speaker 7: Every day, we're setting new records.
- 6:22Speaker 6: That was a good list. Let's be honest.
- 6:25Speaker 3: So Harlow says Memphis' name like it's kind of spelled Memphis.
- 6:30Speaker 4: Memphis. Yeah. Is that also how you say Memphis?
- 6:34Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 6:34Speaker 6: You got to. You got to pronounce it all out.
- 6:39Speaker 7: That was so good.
- 6:40Speaker 6: Thank you.
- 6:43Speaker 7: Someone wants to know how you pronounce elementary.
- 6:45Speaker 4: Elementary.
- 6:47Speaker 6: Elementary. Elementary.
- 6:50Speaker 7: Elementary school.
- 6:50Speaker 4: Elementary. Elementary. Anyways.
- 7:00Speaker 6: Fighting dolphins.
- 7:02Speaker 7: LSU diplomas worldwide just dropped in value.
- 7:07Speaker 4: Well, I mean.
- 7:09Speaker 7: He does own a business, guys. He does hydrate people.
- 7:16Speaker 6: That's right.
- 7:17Speaker 5: All around the country.
- 7:18Speaker 3: I don't even know if technically, if I can, let me,
- 7:21Speaker 3: I'm going to say something about myself to try to
- 7:24Speaker 3: take some of the attention off of you.
- 7:26Speaker 4: I feel like it's pretty heavy right now.
- 7:27Speaker 6: That's good.
- 7:29Speaker 3: Technically, my degree says, it says LSU, but it says
- 7:33Speaker 3: LSU of Shreveport. I finished at LSU S. Because when
- 7:38Speaker 3: I retired, it was in the system. I was living
- 7:42Speaker 3: in Shreveport. So it was easier for me to go
- 7:45Speaker 3: to their campus, obviously. I couldn't drive four hours every day.
- 7:48Speaker 6: Sure.
- 7:49Speaker 3: And it's really before online classes became in vogue. So technically,
- 7:54Speaker 3: my degree says LSU Shreveport.
- 7:56Speaker 4: Pilots?
- 7:56Speaker 3: I don't even really know pilots. I don't even know
- 7:58Speaker 3: if I can consider myself an alum of LSU Baton Rouge.
- 8:01Speaker 6: Is it your alma mater?
- 8:04Speaker 4: I mean, the question has to be asked. Hmm. Now,
- 8:11Speaker 4: they did teach me how to say collegiate there. Say that.
- 8:15Speaker 2: Mm-hmm.
- 8:16Speaker 4: But I.
- 8:18Speaker 6: Don't know.
- 8:19Speaker 4: Maybe I'm a pilot.
- 8:21Speaker 2: Maybe.
- 8:22Speaker 6: Maybe you're what?
- 8:23Speaker 7: A pilot.
- 8:24Speaker 4: A pilot.
- 8:24Speaker 6: All right. Learn something new every day.
- 8:29Speaker 7: Like how to pronounce collegiate.
- 8:31Speaker 6: That's the one that had the really good baseball team.
- 8:32Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 8:33Speaker 4: Yeah. They went undefeated. Yeah.
- 8:35Speaker 6: That was awesome.
- 8:36Speaker 4: That was last year.
- 8:37Speaker 7: A lot of points scored.
- 8:38Speaker 4: Not this last baseball season, but the one before. Right
- 8:41Speaker 4: when I first started doing radio, they had done it.
- 8:42Speaker 5: Yeah, they set the runs record or something for their division.
- 8:47Speaker 7: Me thanks. Matt got held back in kindergarten.
- 8:51Speaker 2: Oh, no. I didn't.
- 8:52Speaker 6: I was young.
- 8:53Speaker 3: Yeah, he's super young. I'm older than him, and he
- 8:55Speaker 3: got here before I did. And not just because I
- 8:58Speaker 3: went to Evangel. I still would have been older. And
- 9:02Speaker 3: I was young before I went.
- 9:04Speaker 7: Did you start taking that brain thing from Rajiv and
- 9:06Speaker 7: me yet? Trying to figure out if it works or not.
- 9:09Speaker 4: Not yet. Not yet.
- 9:10Speaker 6: Not yet. I challenge you to go look at it
- 9:13Speaker 6: and just, you know, it's not a normal looking word.
- 9:17Speaker 4: Again, words beat me up all the time. So I'm
- 9:20Speaker 4: not throwing too many.
- 9:20Speaker 6: I swear to God, I'm a good speller.
- 9:24Speaker 4: I swear.
- 9:25Speaker 5: She's not a good reader.
- 9:28Speaker 7: Spell I cup. Do it now.
- 9:31Speaker 4: But you can't.
- 9:32Speaker 6: But you can't spell I cup. I don't know what
- 9:34Speaker 6: that means.
- 9:35Speaker 4: But you can't do it.
- 9:36Speaker 7: Classic joke, and.
- 9:36Speaker 4: You don't know it. No.
- 9:38Speaker 6: What? What joke is this from? What am I missing?
- 9:41Speaker 4: It's the like-up.
- 9:42Speaker 6: I'm not doing this. I'm not playing into y'all's little game.
- 9:49Speaker 7: It makes you say, I see you, P.
- 9:51Speaker 6: Oh, yeah.
- 9:53Speaker 5: See, Matt's going to use this all the time now.
- 9:55Speaker 7: Yeah, go to Huck today and be like, hey, you
- 9:57Speaker 7: smell like Huck.
- 9:58Speaker 6: Oh, I like this. This is going. I hadn't heard
- 10:00Speaker 6: that before.
- 10:00Speaker 7: Wait, you've never heard that? That's like elementary school.
- 10:08Speaker 6: Oh.
- 10:09Speaker 4: And alumni is any former student. So, yes, Jake, you
- 10:11Speaker 4: can claim LSU.
- 10:12Speaker 6: Nice work.
- 10:13Speaker 4: Thank you.
- 10:15Speaker 7: So, even if you never graduated from LSU, you could
- 10:17Speaker 7: say I'm going to LSU. I guess that, yeah.
- 10:19Speaker 6: I guess so.
- 10:20Speaker 7: And it waters it down a little bit.
- 10:21Speaker 3: But I do remember going back and LSU was Baton
- 10:25Speaker 3: Rouge was like, Hey, yeah, I know you had 12
- 10:27Speaker 3: hours when you left seven years ago, but like now
- 10:30Speaker 3: it's a new catalog and you got like, I think
- 10:33Speaker 3: it was 27. And then LSU S is like, we
- 10:37Speaker 3: got you. Life experiences. We'll cut down some of that
- 10:42Speaker 3: for you. And I ended up taking 18 hours. So
- 10:46Speaker 3: that was fun being a 31 year old, taking 18
- 10:49Speaker 3: hours of college.
- 10:50Speaker 4: With, three kids.
- 10:51Speaker 5: It's like necessary roughness.
- 10:53Speaker 3: Yeah, Scott Bakula said they didn't let me play football.
- 10:57Speaker 3: And thank God my wife's really good at college homework.
- 11:01Speaker 4: That's pretty two names on that degree.
- 11:05Speaker 6: Is that what you're saying?
- 11:06Speaker 4: No doubt.
- 11:07Speaker 6: If you don't graduate, are you supposed to stand up
- 11:14Speaker 6: and sing the alma mater? I know you're an alum.
- 11:18Speaker 6: Can you stand up? Another fair point.
- 11:21Speaker 3: So the day that I was supposed to, I was
- 11:23Speaker 3: going to go to graduation.
- 11:24Speaker 4: I'm like, you know what?
- 11:26Speaker 3: I did it. 18 hours wasn't very fun. I went
- 11:29Speaker 3: into the bookstore, got the cap and the gown, the
- 11:31Speaker 3: whole deal.
- 11:32Speaker 4: And then that's when the Saints called me to come
- 11:33Speaker 4: to minicamp. Oh, yeah. And so I had it all
- 11:36Speaker 4: ready to go. But I was like, yeah, I'll go
- 11:39Speaker 4: to the minicamp.
- 11:40Speaker 6: Well, so make fun of me all you want for
- 11:43Speaker 6: mispronouncing one of the more difficult words in the English language, obviously.
- 11:46Speaker 4: College aid.
- 11:47Speaker 6: But at college graduation... I was the person that got
- 11:53Speaker 6: the loudest applause. So that means I'm the smartest guy there.
- 11:58Speaker 4: I wonder why. It had nothing to do with what
- 12:00Speaker 4: you did in Tiger Stadium.
- 12:01Speaker 6: It had nothing to do with it being a week
- 12:03Speaker 6: and a half before the national championship game.
- 12:05Speaker 4: Yeah, it's what you did in Coates Hall.
- 12:06Speaker 6: Yeah, it's what I did right there in the classroom.
- 12:15Speaker 4: Thank you for that.
- 12:16Speaker 6: You're welcome.
- 12:19Speaker 7: Like, you were so genuine, too. You were like, I
- 12:22Speaker 7: don't know how to pronounce this word.
- 12:24Speaker 6: And I still don't.
- 12:26Speaker 4: I think you spelled Natchitoches, though. You did that the
- 12:29Speaker 4: other day.
- 12:30Speaker 1: Yep.
- 12:31Speaker 6: Natchitoches. That's how I spell it in my head. Pronounce
- 12:36Speaker 6: it out.
- 12:38Speaker 5: That's how they say it in Texas, right?
- 12:41Speaker 4: Natchitoches.
- 12:42Speaker 6: Natchitoches is a city in Texas. We used to play them.
- 12:47Speaker 6: I can't remember their mascot, though, for some reason.
- 12:50Speaker 7: Isn't that where Sam Houston State's at?
- 12:52Speaker 4: Feels like it. It's just Sam Houston now, which we
- 12:54Speaker 4: learned that as well.
- 12:55Speaker 7: But I looked it up and it said Sam Houston State.
- 12:57Speaker 6: There's Stephen F.
- 12:58Speaker 4: Austin.
- 12:58Speaker 7: Stephen F.
- 12:58Speaker 4: Austin's there. Where's Sam Houston?
- 13:01Speaker 7: Huntsville. Huntsville, yeah.
- 13:03Speaker 4: Huntsville? Big prison there. Big federal prison there. I have
- 13:08Speaker 4: no idea where Huntsville, Texas is.
- 13:10Speaker 6: The SFA used to be the Lumberjacks. Are they not
- 13:14Speaker 6: the Lumberjacks? Years ago. They became part of the Texas Tech,
- 13:20Speaker 6: and they were the Lumber Raiders for a little bit.
- 13:22Speaker 4: Oh. What? I hate that.
- 13:24Speaker 6: Yeah, it's a Lumber Raiders?
- 13:26Speaker 4: I'm kind of into it.
- 13:27Speaker 8: Are you?
- 13:28Speaker 7: Lumber Raider?
- 13:28Speaker 4: It's a Lumber Raider.
- 13:30Speaker 7: Anything with Raider.
- 13:31Speaker 6: Sounds cool to me.
- 13:32Speaker 4: I thought it was so, like, maybe they went back
- 13:34Speaker 4: to Lumberjacks.
- 13:35Speaker 5: It says Lumberjack here, but again, I don't know if that's.
- 13:38Speaker 6: It's a Lumber Raider situation.
- 13:43Speaker 7: The typing.
- 13:44Speaker 4: Yep.
- 13:44Speaker 2: All right.
- 13:46Speaker 5: It says Lumberjack.
- 13:47Speaker 4: All right, we're going to take a break.
- 13:49Speaker 6: We're going to regroup.
- 13:50Speaker 7: Regroup.
- 13:51Speaker 4: Let's call Chef. I think we should call Chef at 9.15.
- 13:52Speaker 3: It feels like the perfect segue to get away from
- 13:55Speaker 3: college eight is to speak about food and what Chef
- 13:59Speaker 3: is cooking to eat and ate. So we'll do that
- 14:02Speaker 3: when we come back here on OTP.
- 14:04Speaker 4: Off the bench. All right, go to RussellPulls.com. RussellPulls.com. Russell
- 14:08Speaker 4: Pull Company. Been in the game since the 1960s. Collegiate
- 14:11Speaker 4: camp up.
- 14:16Speaker 3: Louisiana, the weather conditions are harsh here, as we all know.
- 14:19Speaker 3: And if you don't have someone that understands that, they're
- 14:23Speaker 3: going to build you a pool.
- 14:24Speaker 4: It's not going to last very long. Just not going to.
- 14:26Speaker 3: But when you've been doing it since the 1960s, you
- 14:28Speaker 3: know exactly what you're dealing with. You know exactly how
- 14:30Speaker 3: to build it. It's going to stand the test of time.
- 14:32Speaker 3: They can do that for you or they can renovate
- 14:34Speaker 3: your existing pool. Let's say you bought a house and
- 14:37Speaker 3: it's got a boring kidney-shaped pool. You want to upgrade it.
- 14:39Speaker 3: You want to Beyonce it. You can do that.
- 14:41Speaker 4: Russell Pool Company is going to be the one that
- 14:42Speaker 4: does it for you. Go to russellpools.com.
- 14:44Speaker 6: Yeah, go to that website. Just take a look at
- 14:47Speaker 6: the gallery of work, the pools that they have made,
- 14:49Speaker 6: the creativity. They've got two landscape architects on staff at
- 14:54Speaker 6: Russell Pool. So if you just take your thoughts, maybe
- 14:57Speaker 6: you've saved some pictures, you see stuff you like, but
- 14:59Speaker 6: you don't know how to explain it, they can help
- 15:01Speaker 6: you through the entire process. They'll draw, they'll build it,
- 15:03Speaker 6: they'll maintain it. Right over there, russellpools.com.
- 15:27Speaker 1: Tigers turn talkers.
- 15:29Speaker 4: This is Off The Bench.
- 15:49Speaker 3: Welcome back in. Well, Alondra, I hadn't heard this song
- 15:52Speaker 3: probably 20 years.
- 15:56Speaker 7: I feel like I played it on here once.
- 15:58Speaker 4: Great song. Yeah.
- 15:59Speaker 8: I definitely played it on Coffee and Flannel.
- 16:01Speaker 4: Great song. I might have to make a playlist from today.
- 16:05Speaker 7: I almost made one for yesterday. I felt like I
- 16:07Speaker 7: was in my bag yesterday.
- 16:08Speaker 8: And I never say that, but yesterday I was like, oh,
- 16:10Speaker 8: I'm in my bag.
- 16:11Speaker 4: Yesterday was like a good female R & B day.
- 16:14Speaker 3: Yeah. Mostly.
- 16:15Speaker 4: It was really good.
- 16:15Speaker 3: Yeah. It was a good day. It's always a good
- 16:17Speaker 3: day when you have Chef Michael Johnson join the show.
- 16:20Speaker 2: How are you guys?
- 16:22Speaker 4: Chef, how are we doing? How are we living, brother?
- 16:24Speaker 2: Living, brother. Northbound and down.
- 16:27Speaker 4: Ah, so I can expect to see you this weekend?
- 16:30Speaker 2: Yeah, big game, buddy.
- 16:32Speaker 4: Big game, bringing out the big guns.
- 16:34Speaker 6: Oh, yeah. Making the road trip.
- 16:35Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 16:36Speaker 3: Man, I know there's so much that kind of goes
- 16:38Speaker 3: into trying to prepare for a road game. It's going
- 16:41Speaker 3: to be the first road game of the season and
- 16:43Speaker 3: all those type of things, and so Like for our listeners,
- 16:46Speaker 3: and I know you've done this before, but for our
- 16:47Speaker 3: new listeners, like in detail, maybe like what are some
- 16:50Speaker 3: of the things that you have to make sure are
- 16:52Speaker 3: done when the team gets there tomorrow afternoon?
- 16:55Speaker 2: Yeah, so I'm kind of an operating consultant, if you will,
- 16:59Speaker 2: to go in and just kind of from a non-threatening demeanor,
- 17:04Speaker 2: go in and make contact with the caterer at the
- 17:07Speaker 2: hotel that we stay at and, you know, make friends
- 17:10Speaker 2: with the chef and the team and and just kind
- 17:12Speaker 2: of describe to them what our expectations are and how
- 17:16Speaker 2: we do things at the nutrition center. And, you know,
- 17:19Speaker 2: if you have red beans, we like to do it
- 17:20Speaker 2: this way. If you have cornbread, put a little sugar
- 17:24Speaker 2: in it. You know, just kind of tweak the stuff
- 17:26Speaker 2: of the recipes the way the guys like to eat
- 17:28Speaker 2: and make sure that, you know, to be honest with you,
- 17:32Speaker 2: when Coach O put me on the road seven or
- 17:35Speaker 2: eight years ago, part of the reason was to make
- 17:36Speaker 2: sure the food was cooked. So, you know, like there
- 17:39Speaker 2: is a safety mechanism behind there. I'm kind of an
- 17:43Speaker 2: insurance policy in that manner, too, you know, taking temperatures
- 17:46Speaker 2: of the food and quality controlling the food and such.
- 17:48Speaker 2: And you have to do that from a non-threatening manner.
- 17:50Speaker 2: You know, if you walk into another chef's kitchen and
- 17:52Speaker 2: just start poking around in their pot and tell them
- 17:56Speaker 2: how to cook and putting your thermometer in their food,
- 18:01Speaker 2: They tend to get a little bit fussy.
- 18:04Speaker 6: You mean you wouldn't like that if somebody came into
- 18:06Speaker 6: your kitchen?
- 18:07Speaker 2: No, bro. I would have an absolute fit.
- 18:11Speaker 4: It makes sense.
- 18:12Speaker 6: I never even thought about that from the food safety.
- 18:14Speaker 6: Of course, you want things to be similar. You've got
- 18:18Speaker 6: athletes in a different location, a different environment. It's uncomfortable.
- 18:21Speaker 6: You want to keep them comfortable from a safety perspective.
- 18:24Speaker 6: I didn't even think about that. Like, yeah, you don't
- 18:26Speaker 6: want undercooked chicken. You don't want fish that.
- 18:29Speaker 4: Get bad chicken.
- 18:29Speaker 6: You don't want an Ole Miss fan sitting in there
- 18:31Speaker 6: with some like unmarked ingredient and he sprinkles on the.
- 18:34Speaker 2: Mac and cheese.
- 18:35Speaker 6: So yeah, that makes a lot of sense. But like,
- 18:38Speaker 6: when does, when does your prep for the football team
- 18:40Speaker 6: on a road game? Like, do y'all prep them like
- 18:44Speaker 6: the day before, like on the plane? Is there a meal?
- 18:47Speaker 6: Because you want to keep them as comfortable as and
- 18:50Speaker 6: consistent as possible every week, even on the road? Or
- 18:53Speaker 6: is your responsibility just when they're in the football ops
- 18:57Speaker 6: building and then once they get to the hotel?
- 18:59Speaker 2: Yeah, they'll eat at the nutrition center today and into
- 19:04Speaker 2: tomorrow as well. They'll eat a lunch before they leave
- 19:07Speaker 2: and they'll have snacks. I want to say snacks, hot food.
- 19:11Speaker 2: What we call a snack is a Chick-fil-A sandwich. It's
- 19:14Speaker 2: everybody else's meal. So, you know, yes, the theory kind
- 19:18Speaker 2: of is that we keep the fed constantly and keep them,
- 19:21Speaker 2: you know, like not too much at any one point,
- 19:23Speaker 2: but to place the food in them at the right time, right,
- 19:27Speaker 2: and get the carbs in them at the right time
- 19:29Speaker 2: and get the proteins in them constantly and then they'll recovery. So, yeah,
- 19:33Speaker 2: the dieticians have all that stuff programmed out. when they
- 19:36Speaker 2: want them to eat and how they want them to
- 19:38Speaker 2: eat and what they want them to eat. And my
- 19:40Speaker 2: cue on the road is to just kind of act
- 19:45Speaker 2: as an in-between between the dieticians and the culinary team
- 19:48Speaker 2: there to kind of kind of speak the lingo and
- 19:51Speaker 2: make sure that everybody's on the same page and be
- 19:55Speaker 2: an absorber to some degree because things get stressful sometimes.
- 19:59Speaker 2: And so I'm kind of the interpreter, if you will.
- 20:03Speaker 3: Jeff, when you have a later kick on the road
- 20:06Speaker 3: compared to, let's say you were on the road, you
- 20:07Speaker 3: had a noon kick and you're not really there all day.
- 20:10Speaker 3: Like what kind of challenges maybe does that bring up
- 20:13Speaker 3: for the team to make sure that they're getting the
- 20:15Speaker 3: right food at the right time? And they're going to
- 20:18Speaker 3: be sitting around for a little bit to make sure
- 20:20Speaker 3: that they're kind of doing all the right things. Certainly
- 20:22Speaker 3: I would assume hydration probably comes into account here as well.
- 20:26Speaker 2: Most definitely hydration is important at all times, brother. You know,
- 20:29Speaker 2: like we, We have beverages in the hallways for them
- 20:31Speaker 2: so that they don't have to go too far. Staying
- 20:34Speaker 2: hydrated is super important. We don't want them dehydrating on
- 20:36Speaker 2: the field. Not only that, when you have a late game,
- 20:40Speaker 2: it makes for a darn long day. I personally will
- 20:44Speaker 2: get up at 3 or 4 o'clock in the morning
- 20:46Speaker 2: to go down and check on breakfast to make sure
- 20:48Speaker 2: things are executing properly, and we'll have three or four
- 20:50Speaker 2: meals through the day. We'll have a breakfast, and if
- 20:53Speaker 2: it's a late game, you'll have a breakfast, a lunch,
- 20:56Speaker 2: maybe a snack, and then a pregame meal. So you'll
- 20:58Speaker 2: eat four times before you ever make it to the field.
- 21:01Speaker 2: And then, you know, depending on where you are and
- 21:04Speaker 2: how far the travel is, there might be a snack
- 21:06Speaker 2: for them or a smoothie or something waiting for them
- 21:09Speaker 2: when they get there just to kind of keep the
- 21:10Speaker 2: fuel up. So those long days, brother, I mean, you know,
- 21:14Speaker 2: if it's a late game, we won't get home until
- 21:15Speaker 2: 3 or 4 o'clock in the morning maybe. So, you know,
- 21:17Speaker 2: it's a 24-hour day.
- 21:18Speaker 6: For some people.
- 21:19Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 21:20Speaker 4: Jeff, okay, let's talk for the fans this weekend.
- 21:23Speaker 6: So there is a bunch of really bad games on
- 21:26Speaker 6: this weekend in the college world, but there's one really
- 21:30Speaker 6: good game. But there's a long time to wait. So
- 21:33Speaker 6: maybe some people out there wanting to cook a little
- 21:35Speaker 6: something at home. I was thinking about throwing something on
- 21:37Speaker 6: the grill. I had a kebab recently that was really good.
- 21:41Speaker 6: What's your favorite way to prep something, some sort of
- 21:43Speaker 6: meat on a stick?
- 21:45Speaker 2: Oh, man. You know, to be honest with you, I
- 21:49Speaker 2: hate meat on a stick. I don't know if we've
- 21:54Speaker 2: ever had this conversation before because it's just heavy to prep, right?
- 21:57Speaker 2: And I do like kebabs. But, you know, what I
- 22:00Speaker 2: like to do is I like to prep the meat
- 22:02Speaker 2: on one stick and put the vegetables on the other
- 22:04Speaker 2: because meat and vegetables don't have the same cook times.
- 22:07Speaker 2: And what you have is you end up with raw
- 22:08Speaker 2: vegetables or overcooked meat or raw meat and overcooked vegetables
- 22:12Speaker 2: or whatever. something that's kind of twisted. So I make
- 22:14Speaker 2: my veggie skewers separate and try to keep the vegetables
- 22:17Speaker 2: of the same similar texture. You know, if you're putting
- 22:20Speaker 2: mushrooms on there, soak those mushrooms in some water so
- 22:22Speaker 2: they don't dry out, look like all wrinkly and funky.
- 22:25Speaker 2: You know, and by and large, you're looking to put
- 22:28Speaker 2: vegetables on there that will cook with the same amount
- 22:31Speaker 2: of cook time, right? And then on the meat, you know,
- 22:35Speaker 2: like I try to pack the meat on the stick
- 22:37Speaker 2: so that it's compressed and that it's all one single thickness.
- 22:41Speaker 2: So that, you know, the cuts of meat, the pieces
- 22:44Speaker 2: of meat are all cooking through to the same time.
- 22:47Speaker 2: So you don't have some medium rare and some well done.
- 22:53Speaker 4: Well done. Who are we dealing with there? Is Booger
- 22:58Speaker 4: McFarlane on the trip?
- 23:02Speaker 2: There's another piece there, too, is make sure you soak
- 23:05Speaker 2: your skewers. If you're using wood skewers, soak them in
- 23:07Speaker 2: water overnight because it'll help them to prevent them from
- 23:11Speaker 2: burning on the grill if you're putting it over a
- 23:13Speaker 2: high heat.
- 23:15Speaker 3: Chef, we have Jared inside the chat. He's wanting a
- 23:17Speaker 3: good brisket recipe for this weekend.
- 23:20Speaker 2: Yeah, man, I love some good brisket. My brisket's really simple, brother.
- 23:24Speaker 2: You know, kosher salt, rub, eat what they call a
- 23:29Speaker 2: butcher grinder 18-mesh ground black pepper. That thickness of it
- 23:36Speaker 2: allows it to maintain, and it doesn't wash away, and
- 23:39Speaker 2: it soaks into the meat. My brisket's a three-day process.
- 23:43Speaker 2: I rub it with the seasonings overnight and let it
- 23:47Speaker 2: rest overnight, and then the next day smoke. I smoke
- 23:51Speaker 2: my brisket for about 18 hours at about 189 degrees, 190,
- 23:54Speaker 2: somewhere in there. A lot of guys like to smoke hotter.
- 23:57Speaker 4: I do not.
- 23:58Speaker 2: You know, the hotter it is, the thinner the smoke is.
- 24:01Speaker 2: And the lower the temperature is, the thicker the smoke is. Now,
- 24:04Speaker 2: if you get down to 170, that smoke gets really bitter.
- 24:08Speaker 2: And the sweet spot is 190. And 190, it requires
- 24:12Speaker 2: a little bit longer cook time. But, oh, man, you know,
- 24:16Speaker 2: and you got to make sure that you rest the
- 24:19Speaker 2: brisket when you're done. And I have some butcher paper
- 24:22Speaker 2: at home. and you wrap it loosely so that the
- 24:25Speaker 2: steam can escape, but it's maintaining the heat inside the brisket.
- 24:29Speaker 2: And what resting does is when during the cooking process,
- 24:33Speaker 2: the outside of the brisket dries out from the heat, right?
- 24:36Speaker 2: The heat draws the moisture out, and what's left is
- 24:38Speaker 2: only in the center of the brisket. And this is
- 24:41Speaker 2: not just brisket. This is any kind of cut of
- 24:42Speaker 2: meat when you're cooking, right? And so by pulling the
- 24:45Speaker 2: meat out and resting it, you're allowing the moisture within
- 24:49Speaker 2: the middle of the brisket to draw outwards towards those
- 24:51Speaker 2: drier parts, and to make sure that the moisture is throughout.
- 24:55Speaker 2: And it's an integral piece of the process. And if
- 24:58Speaker 2: you've done it right, you know, after you've rested it,
- 25:01Speaker 2: that brisket will be bouncy is a good way to
- 25:07Speaker 2: express it. You know, the connective tissues have released and
- 25:11Speaker 2: broken loose, and the meat fibers are all that's left
- 25:13Speaker 2: holding it together, and, you know, they're ready to fall apart.
- 25:17Speaker 6: Chef, this is a three-day process for you. So you've
- 25:19Speaker 6: got some time to make up some really good sides
- 25:22Speaker 6: as well. What's a go-to side next to a brisket?
- 25:26Speaker 2: I'm a potato salad idiot. You know what I mean?
- 25:28Speaker 2: And I don't dislike any old potato salad. I like
- 25:31Speaker 2: stone ground or a Creole mustard in my mayonnaise base
- 25:38Speaker 2: with that heavy textured mustard. I mean, I'll eat yellow
- 25:42Speaker 2: mustard like my grandma made it. But I really prefer
- 25:46Speaker 2: my potato salad to have that stone kind of seed,
- 25:50Speaker 2: the seeds and the mustard in it. I'm salivating right now.
- 25:57Speaker 4: All right, Chef.
- 25:59Speaker 3: I know you're excited to be there. I know you're
- 26:01Speaker 3: looking forward to a great matchup. I cannot wait to
- 26:03Speaker 3: get there as well. Hey, it should be a very
- 26:06Speaker 3: interesting weekend. You know, with the way when Coach Kiffin's
- 26:10Speaker 3: gone back to places and mustard comes into the conversation
- 26:13Speaker 3: like it just did, I feel like this is a
- 26:14Speaker 3: great ending point.
- 26:16Speaker 2: That's right.
- 26:17Speaker 4: Yes, absolutely. Chef, we appreciate you, brother. I'll see you soon.
- 26:21Speaker 2: Okay, take care.
- 26:22Speaker 3: All right, Chef Michael Johnson, Executive Chef for LSU Athletics,
- 26:25Speaker 3: joins us every single week here.
- 26:27Speaker 4: On OTB. That's a lot of work when you're on
- 26:31Speaker 4: the road like that. You're trying to make sure your
- 26:33Speaker 4: guys get.
- 26:33Speaker 6: The right stuff. That wasn't true.
- 26:34Speaker 4: I've never even thought about the food safety thing. Me neither.
- 26:37Speaker 6: To make sure that things aren't undercooked the day before
- 26:40Speaker 6: a game or right before a game.
- 26:41Speaker 3: And not to say anybody would try to pull some tomfoolery,
- 26:45Speaker 3: but it's college football.
- 26:46Speaker 4: Would it be the most shocking thing in the world?
- 26:48Speaker 6: No, it wouldn't. Absolutely not. I mean, people will stay
- 26:53Speaker 6: outside of a hotel and try to keep the teams up.
- 26:57Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 26:58Speaker 6: They'll try to, like, honk and be loud to keep
- 27:00Speaker 6: them from sleeping. They'll pull the fire alarm.
- 27:03Speaker 3: Remember the scenes in Mexico this year for the World
- 27:06Speaker 3: Cup ahead of the England game?
- 27:07Speaker 4: They had fireworks at, like, 3 a.m. outside of the
- 27:10Speaker 4: team hotel.
- 27:11Speaker 6: And we hear all the time about, like, yeah, like,
- 27:13Speaker 6: fire alarms getting pulled on the team floors.
- 27:16Speaker 4: Absolutely.
- 27:18Speaker 6: I'll sprinkle a little something on there. Put some eye
- 27:21Speaker 6: drops and some sweet tea.
- 27:24Speaker 4: That seems very specific.
- 27:26Speaker 2: All right.
- 27:26Speaker 4: We'll take a break.
- 27:27Speaker 3: More OTB when we come back here live from the
- 27:30Speaker 3: Raising Cane Studio.
- 27:32Speaker 5: Off the bench. All right.
- 27:35Speaker 3: If you are looking to upgrade your bathroom and you're
- 27:38Speaker 3: looking to do it with not a lot of hassle

- 29:05Speaker 6: Off the bench. I'll tell you about our good friends.
- 29:09Speaker 6: The good people over at caters. Louisiana has always been
- 29:12Speaker 6: at the center of American energy and caters is investing
- 29:15Speaker 6: in what comes next. Caters developing the Commonwealth LNG export
- 29:18Speaker 6: facility over in camera parish, Louisiana. Um, the project's designed
- 29:22Speaker 6: to take American natural gas produced here at home and
- 29:25Speaker 6: help deliver it to customers.
- 29:26Speaker 4: In energy markets around the world.
- 29:28Speaker 6: That means a major investment right here in Louisiana, supporting jobs,
- 29:32Speaker 6: local businesses, infrastructure, and long-term economic activity across the Gulf Coast.
- 29:37Speaker 6: Caterus is building an integrated natural gas business that connects
- 29:41Speaker 6: American energy production with that growing global demand for reliable energy.
- 29:46Speaker 6: It's another example of Louisiana doing what Louisiana has done
- 29:49Speaker 6: for generations, and that's help power America and the world. Caterus,
- 29:54Speaker 6: invested in Louisiana, connecting American energy to the global market.
- 30:03Speaker 6: I feel like this light's really bright today. I can
- 30:06Speaker 6: barely read the mind.
- 30:09Speaker 5: You don't look brighter on camera.
- 30:10Speaker 7: You could have just stopped at, I can barely read.
- 30:13Speaker 5: We know that, yeah.
- 30:13Speaker 6: I just said, I don't know if y'all know this,
- 30:17Speaker 6: I just read infrastructure.
- 30:18Speaker 4: Whoa.
- 30:19Speaker 2: Not a big deal.
- 30:21Speaker 6: Infrastructure.
- 30:23Speaker 7: You're almost there.
- 30:24Speaker 5: Okay.
- 30:30Speaker 3: There's certain words that are more difficult for others to
- 30:33Speaker 3: read that are very easy to other people.
- 30:35Speaker 4: I'll back you up.
- 30:39Speaker 7: Do you think collegiate is in that?
- 30:40Speaker 4: I would not put that one in there, but... I mean,
- 30:43Speaker 4: like the.
- 30:45Speaker 4: I'm trying.
- 30:47Speaker 6: You don't have to.
- 30:47Speaker 4: I'll stop. No, but I do. I do. Because there's words.
- 30:52Speaker 7: I'll stop.
- 30:52Speaker 4: There's words. And that are very basic words that I'm like, hey,
- 30:58Speaker 4: don't overthink it.
- 30:59Speaker 6: Just say it. Trust me. There's not a lot of overthinking.
- 31:07Speaker 5: If any, I could do more.
- 31:09Speaker 6: I'm not going to bring it up anymore.
- 31:20Speaker 7: But we are clipping it and posting it.
- 31:23Speaker 3: Effortlessly is one sometimes for me. I'm trying to think
- 31:26Speaker 3: of a word. Like when I say it, I say
- 31:27Speaker 3: it too fast and it just comes out wrong.
- 31:32Speaker 6: Okay.
- 31:33Speaker 4: That's an easy basic word. Yep.
- 31:35Speaker 6: Amalgamation.
- 31:36Speaker 4: That's pretty easy.
- 31:37Speaker 6: That's a good one.
- 31:38Speaker 7: That one rolls off the tongue. Yeah.
- 31:40Speaker 6: I don't know if I've ever seen that word spelled out, though.
- 31:44Speaker 6: Probably have once or twice. Just like Galicia, I don't
- 31:48Speaker 6: think I've ever seen that spelled out.
- 31:50Speaker 5: You've only heard it, never seen it.
- 31:52Speaker 6: There's a lot of words out there. I don't think
- 31:54Speaker 6: I've ever seen it spelled out.
- 31:55Speaker 8: I'm like that with some names. Like there's some names
- 31:58Speaker 8: that I've never heard out loud. So whenever I read them,
- 32:01Speaker 8: I don't know how to say them.
- 32:02Speaker 6: Sure.
- 32:03Speaker 2: Sure.
- 32:07Speaker 4: We love you, QB1. We got your back.
- 32:10Speaker 6: Nothing but love over here.
- 32:10Speaker 7: It's the one brain cell.
- 32:12Speaker 4: That's right.
- 32:12Speaker 7: It's so powerful.
- 32:14Speaker 4: Yeah. Between the four of us. Who says college ate
- 32:16Speaker 4: in a word?
- 32:18Speaker 6: No, it was eat.
- 32:19Speaker 5: Can't prove it, Ed.
- 32:20Speaker 6: Wait, wait.
- 32:20Speaker 4: How'd you say it?
- 32:22Speaker 6: Probably like collegiate.
- 32:23Speaker 4: Collegiate.
- 32:24Speaker 6: That's even better.
- 32:25Speaker 4: Collegiate.
- 32:27Speaker 6: Yep. I'm not going to not do anything 100%. That's right.
- 32:32Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 32:33Speaker 6: Go for it.
- 32:33Speaker 4: Why would you half-ass something?
- 32:34Speaker 6: Why would you?
- 32:35Speaker 4: You're going to do it. If you're not going to
- 32:37Speaker 4: know what you're doing, do it full speed.
- 32:39Speaker 6: That's true.
- 32:40Speaker 4: That's what coaches say all the time. Eventually you're running
- 32:43Speaker 4: into somebody is what they used to tell me.
- 32:47Speaker 2: It worked.
- 32:47Speaker 4: And then once you do, block that person.
- 32:50Speaker 6: Got to.
- 32:55Speaker 4: I really wish the Wolfpack was going to the game.
- 32:57Speaker 4: It would be fun. We're doing a show from there.
- 33:00Speaker 7: Half the Wolfpack was supposed to be there, but.
- 33:05Speaker 4: Whatever. Yeah, nobody wanted us to do shows from there.
- 33:08Speaker 6: It's tough to go on the road and do a
- 33:09Speaker 6: show from an away game because it's like 7 in
- 33:11Speaker 6: the morning on the day before the game.
- 33:14Speaker 4: Yeah, it would be like a special edition type thing.
- 33:16Speaker 7: That would have been fun.
- 33:18Speaker 4: Yeah, like a Saturday.
- 33:20Speaker 7: Ooh, we would have done like OTB Saturday. Yeah.
- 33:26Speaker 4: But again, nobody in Oxford wanted anything to do with us,
- 33:30Speaker 4: which I guess I get. Although, hmm. I bet they
- 33:34Speaker 4: have a walk-ons. Surely they do.
- 33:37Speaker 5: They got something. If not, they got something.
- 33:39Speaker 3: No, but I'm saying, like, if they have a walk-ons, like, hey, Brandon,
- 33:42Speaker 3: call the guy. They got a mug shots, I'm sure.
- 33:47Speaker 3: There's a Raging Cajun Hester sandwich at mug shots.
- 33:51Speaker 7: Wait, Oxford does have a walk-ons. I just looked it up.
- 33:55Speaker 4: See, we should have done that.
- 33:55Speaker 7: We should have done that. I didn't think about that.
- 33:59Speaker 6: Probably Canes.
- 34:02Speaker 4: Probably Canes, too. Maybe.
- 34:07Speaker 6: I would hope so for the kids' sake.
- 34:10Speaker 5: Think of the children.
- 34:11Speaker 6: For the children.
- 34:12Speaker 3: What's the setup for the game going to be around
- 34:16Speaker 3: the room here?
- 34:17Speaker 4: How are we taking it in? At home?
- 34:20Speaker 6: Oh, yeah.
- 34:21Speaker 4: By yourself? With the family in the room? The family
- 34:23Speaker 4: will be there. Now, will they be as locked in
- 34:26Speaker 4: as me?
- 34:26Speaker 6: No. I don't like a lot of noise around me, though.
- 34:31Speaker 6: I don't love a watch party because no conversation.
- 34:34Speaker 3: Will you take that TV on wheels that you talk
- 34:37Speaker 3: about and just drag it into your room?
- 34:40Speaker 4: No, I watch it on the biggest TV possible right now.
- 34:43Speaker 6: I can find. And I'll stand as close as possible.
- 34:46Speaker 4: Me too. Hand on my hips.
- 34:48Speaker 6: Hand on my hips.
- 34:48Speaker 4: Looking at a screen like. Maybe that's why you can't read.
- 34:51Speaker 5: You can't see.
- 34:52Speaker 4: It's true.
- 34:54Speaker 5: I'll be by myself this weekend. Well, me and Victoria.
- 34:57Speaker 5: But like no family coming over.
- 34:58Speaker 4: Okay. That's not by yourself if you have another human
- 35:01Speaker 4: in there.
- 35:02Speaker 5: Sure.
- 35:03Speaker 4: Where's your son? He'll be there.
- 35:06Speaker 6: Okay, so by ourselves.
- 35:08Speaker 5: We're not having a party like we normally do. Like,
- 35:11Speaker 5: normally I like to host at my house. Like, I'd
- 35:14Speaker 5: rather host at my place than somebody else's have to
- 35:16Speaker 5: go back and forth.
- 35:17Speaker 6: Oh, absolutely.
- 35:18Speaker 5: I told my parents that, and they're like, oh, well, look,
- 35:20Speaker 5: we're going to do it at your sister's house this
- 35:21Speaker 5: weekend so you.
- 35:22Speaker 4: Don't have to do anything.
- 35:23Speaker 5: And I called them yesterday. I was like, guys, we're
- 35:25Speaker 5: not going anywhere. Little man's going to have to go
- 35:27Speaker 5: to bed by, like, 9 o'clock. I'd have to leave
- 35:29Speaker 5: at halftime anyways. Like, y'all have fun. Y'all can do
- 35:33Speaker 5: that thing.
- 35:36Speaker 6: Yeah. I don't like the whole, yeah. Hey, what were
- 35:39Speaker 6: they doing right there? What were they thinking right there?
- 35:41Speaker 6: I don't want to, like, there's another play right now.
- 35:45Speaker 6: I don't want to talk about that last play. I
- 35:48Speaker 6: just want to hear what the announcers say.
- 35:49Speaker 4: Yeah. How was the week? I used to want to hear, like, hey,
- 35:54Speaker 4: let me hear that announcer, because if he says something dumb,
- 35:57Speaker 4: I got to know.
- 35:58Speaker 6: Yeah, I need to know what that announcer's saying.
- 36:02Speaker 4: Alondra, how are we taking it in?
- 36:04Speaker 7: Pelican to Mars!
- 36:07Speaker 4: Watch party! Let's go. You picked up on what I
- 36:11Speaker 4: was putting down.
- 36:13Speaker 7: Come drink some Dos Equis with me at Pelican to Mars.
- 36:17Speaker 7: We'll have some giveaways. I might have some cigars.
- 36:20Speaker 4: Also, early that day, there's a couple of Premier League games.
- 36:24Speaker 7: Yeah, they're going to open at 9 a.m.
- 36:26Speaker 3: So the early game is going to be at 6.30,
- 36:28Speaker 3: but you don't need to see that. It's Tottenham, and
- 36:30Speaker 3: nobody wants to watch Tottenham play. They haven't scored a
- 36:33Speaker 3: goal yet.
- 36:34Speaker 4: But there is going to be a great 9 a.m. slate.
- 36:38Speaker 3: You've got Brighton and Arsenal. You've got Everton and Ipswich.
- 36:41Speaker 3: You've got Newcastle and Hull. Then you have Nottingham, Forest,
- 36:44Speaker 3: and I think Coventry is who they've got at 1130,
- 36:48Speaker 3: if I'm not mistaken. So some great Premier League action.
- 36:51Speaker 3: Of course, the Blues, Everton's in action, so it's going
- 36:54Speaker 3: to be a great slate. You've got the champions as
- 36:56Speaker 3: well in action at 9 a.m. Pelican to Mars, they
- 36:59Speaker 3: open up at 9. They're there for your EPL all
- 37:02Speaker 3: Saturday long. And then you can hang around.
- 37:06Speaker 7: Just a marathon of just.
- 37:07Speaker 4: I was going to say, it'd be a long day.
- 37:09Speaker 4: You can hang around, or you can just come back.
- 37:10Speaker 7: Take a nap, come back.
- 37:11Speaker 3: To watch the Ole Miss-LSU game with Alondra Blankspace Villarreal,
- 37:16Speaker 3: who's going to be there hosting.
- 37:17Speaker 4: That watch party.
- 37:18Speaker 7: Giveaways for some Bocock cigars.
- 37:20Speaker 4: A lot of stuff going on.
- 37:22Speaker 7: Maybe some trivia for a bar tab, maybe.
- 37:26Speaker 6: There you go.
- 37:26Speaker 7: Maybe some tickets to a big game soon.
- 37:29Speaker 4: We don't want to miss all that. Are you serious, Clark?
- 37:31Speaker 7: I'm serious, Clark. I guess you wouldn't be, Clark, too.
- 37:34Speaker 4: A lot. I'm Clark.
- 37:36Speaker 6: There's more than one Clarks out there.
- 37:40Speaker 4: So Pelican to Mars this weekend on Saturday. Go there.
- 37:43Speaker 4: Watch EPL. Take a nap. Come back. Watch LSU beat
- 37:46Speaker 4: Ole Miss.
- 37:47Speaker 7: If you howl, I'll take a shot with you. I'm
- 37:50Speaker 7: not going to buy it, but.
- 37:52Speaker 4: Okay, be careful. Be careful. There's seven people that howl
- 37:55Speaker 4: at you. You might be on the floor. No, okay.
- 37:57Speaker 7: We're going to put like a two-shot limit.
- 37:59Speaker 4: The first three people that howl.
- 38:00Speaker 7: The first three people that howl at me.
- 38:02Speaker 4: She'll take a shot with you. How about that?
- 38:03Speaker 7: Don't bark at me. Howl at me.
- 38:04Speaker 4: Yeah, don't bark.
- 38:05Speaker 7: Bark is degrading.
- 38:06Speaker 4: Come on, that's degrading. Howl perfectly fine. All right.
- 38:10Speaker 6: This is a good comment right here.
- 38:11Speaker 2: Go ahead.
- 38:11Speaker 6: I hate watching games at other people's homes. Sorry I
- 38:14Speaker 6: broke your vase because Chambliss scrambled her first down on
- 38:17Speaker 6: third and six.
- 38:18Speaker 5: Face shouldn't have been there. I mean, it's in an
- 38:20Speaker 5: inconvenient spot.
- 38:21Speaker 7: Move the vase.
- 38:24Speaker 5: Move the vase.
- 38:25Speaker 4: I am.
- 38:27Speaker 3: I've learned to control it a little bit since I
- 38:29Speaker 3: have to in the booth, but, like, I just don't
- 38:31Speaker 3: do well. Like, there was that big third down that
- 38:35Speaker 3: Romo converted against you high.
- 38:37Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 38:38Speaker 3: I just was, like, looking for something. Like, I need
- 38:40Speaker 3: something to just squeeze really, really hard.
- 38:42Speaker 7: No pencils broken yet.
- 38:43Speaker 4: No pencils broken. Zero pencils broken.
- 38:46Speaker 5: I can see you in the stands. You're shaking Memphis.
- 38:49Speaker 4: No, he's out there playing football in the end zone,
- 38:51Speaker 4: you know. I just, like, grab the bleachers and, like,
- 38:53Speaker 4: try to twist steel if I can. It just doesn't work.
- 38:57Speaker 6: It's been tough for me.
- 38:58Speaker 4: It feels good for me to do it.
- 38:59Speaker 5: With having a baby.
- 39:00Speaker 6: Just whispering sweet nothings, you know.
- 39:01Speaker 4: Like, yeah.
- 39:03Speaker 5: Can't be too loud. Now. Luckily, we haven't had a
- 39:05Speaker 5: close game yet, but, like, if Saturday gets pretty intense,
- 39:09Speaker 5: this will be my test.
- 39:10Speaker 6: I've got a feeling it's going to be a good one.
- 39:13Speaker 6: It's going to be an awesome show. Not a lot
- 39:18Speaker 6: of good shows Saturday, but the one that is going
- 39:20Speaker 6: to be there, it's.
- 39:21Speaker 5: Going to be awesome.
- 39:22Speaker 3: I know.
- 39:22Speaker 1: Like, if Landon.
- 39:23Speaker 5: Clark, you know, what am I supposed to do?
- 39:26Speaker 6: In the Clark show?
- 39:29Speaker 4: Landon Clark plays. I don't even know. I don't even
- 39:31Speaker 4: know what you would do. All right.
- 39:34Speaker 6: We got to get that drop going.
- 39:36Speaker 3: Let's take a break. When we come back, let's wrap
- 39:38Speaker 3: it up. Like we do every single day. Answering your questions.
- 39:40Speaker 4: We'll ask the bench brought to you by Dos Equis.
- 39:43Speaker 3: And we'll do it right here on OTB off the bench.
- 39:46Speaker 3: All right, go see our friends over at Pelican Roofing. Pelicanroof.com
- 39:49Speaker 3: is the website in Baton Rouge, in Lafayette. Boots on
- 39:52Speaker 3: the ground in both locations. They are there for you.
- 39:54Speaker 3: They're always in the local community. And if you want to.
- 39:58Speaker 4: Check out what they're doing, because we say that every day.
- 40:00Speaker 4: We want to make sure that you know the Run
- 40:02Speaker 4: With Roofists they do every single year, the Mother's Day
- 40:04Speaker 4: Roof Giveaway, the Veterans Day Roof Giveaway. They do all
- 40:06Speaker 4: of that, and they do it every single year. Also,

- 40:23Speaker 6: Yeah, man, if you're anything like me or most people,
- 40:26Speaker 6: you don't really know just looking at your roof, like
- 40:28Speaker 6: when it needs to be repaired. Call Pelican Roof. Say, hey,
- 40:31Speaker 6: my roof is this many years old. Can you come
- 40:34Speaker 6: check it out? They'll come out there and they'll tell
- 40:36Speaker 6: you and they'll be honest with you. I'll be like, OK, yes,
- 40:38Speaker 6: you need a brand new roof. Or maybe they'll say
- 40:40Speaker 6: you just need a little repair here or maybe it's
- 40:42Speaker 6: nothing at all. Give them let them come give you
- 40:44Speaker 6: a consultation. Go visit PelicanRoof.com.
- 40:51Speaker 1: From the locker room to the airwaves, it's Off the
- 40:54Speaker 1: Bench with Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn.
- 41:23Speaker 4: All right, welcome back in OTB. One final segment here
- 41:26Speaker 4: on a Thursday morning.
- 41:28Speaker 3: Reminder, we will be on location at Rouse's tomorrow, so
- 41:31Speaker 3: come hang out with us. We'll be there all show long,
- 41:34Speaker 3: 7 to 10 a.m., Rouse's, Burbank, and Lee. All right,
- 41:38Speaker 3: a little Ask the Bench brought to you by Icicle
- 41:40Speaker 3: Dos Equis. It's always a great time to go for dose.
- 41:45Speaker 7: I have an audio message, but I haven't.
- 41:47Speaker 4: All right, you listen to it. Okay.
- 41:49Speaker 8: I got to pause the music for a second then.
- 41:51Speaker 4: Okay. Okay.
- 41:53Speaker 7: Y'all keep going.
- 41:54Speaker 6: Okay.
- 41:56Speaker 4: Ask the bench.
- 41:57Speaker 3: Matt, my daughter wanted to ask if they could get
- 42:01Speaker 3: a pina colada flavored my high so they can ditch
- 42:04Speaker 3: one of the big brands.
- 42:05Speaker 6: Oh, you should ditch that big brand for sure.
- 42:08Speaker 4: Pina colada.
- 42:08Speaker 6: We have a island ice that has a coconut pineapple.
- 42:12Speaker 4: That's very similar. Kind of like a little ocean water slush. Yeah.
- 42:16Speaker 6: But it's a little pina colada ish. So I don't
- 42:17Speaker 6: know if it makes sense to do like two that
- 42:19Speaker 6: are similar to each other. Hey, don't sell that one
- 42:22Speaker 6: in retail. You got to go online to buy the island.
- 42:24Speaker 6: Ice My High. DrinkMyHigh.com. Thank you for the question, though.
- 42:29Speaker 6: I appreciate it.
- 42:30Speaker 7: The audio message is just from our guy, Derek. Shout out, Derek.
- 42:34Speaker 4: Okay. Say Derek.
- 42:36Speaker 7: Derek says that he has LSU by 14. Remember that.
- 42:41Speaker 4: LSU by 14.
- 42:41Speaker 7: So LSU's going to win.
- 42:42Speaker 8: By 14, Derek thinks. That's his prediction.
- 42:45Speaker 4: He thinks.
- 42:45Speaker 6: He thinks.
- 42:46Speaker 7: Me thinks.
- 42:47Speaker 4: I don't know if I want to go 28-24 or 31-24.
- 42:48Speaker 4: I went 28-17.
- 42:49Speaker 6: I hadn't decided exactly what it's going to be.
- 42:55Speaker 4: Me neither.
- 42:55Speaker 7: I think I said 35-27.
- 42:56Speaker 4: I mean, obviously, Tigers.
- 42:59Speaker 7: Tigers, duh.
- 43:00Speaker 4: Clearly.
- 43:02Speaker 6: Score-wise, I don't know yet.
- 43:04Speaker 7: I said 35-27.
- 43:04Speaker 4: Like, there's a part of me that wants to go 31-21.
- 43:09Speaker 7: Maybe I'm giving Trinidad too much credit.
- 43:11Speaker 6: I think it'll be a close game.
- 43:13Speaker 3: I'm giving him credit because I do think he's a
- 43:14Speaker 3: really good football player, but also, like, I think what
- 43:17Speaker 3: Blake has is really good.
- 43:18Speaker 4: Yeah. I think so, too.
- 43:19Speaker 5: And you held this offense to 24 a year ago.
- 43:21Speaker 5: Now I get he is not the Trinidad now that
- 43:23Speaker 5: he was then. I understand that. But your defense is
- 43:26Speaker 5: a lot better.
- 43:26Speaker 4: This year, too. I think so, too. We think. Me thinks.
- 43:29Speaker 4: We thinks.
- 43:30Speaker 6: What we think is that Blake Baker and that defense
- 43:33Speaker 6: is special. Special. Now, two games in, we get that.
- 43:37Speaker 6: So it could be a complete overreaction. But we cannot
- 43:40Speaker 6: unsee what we've seen so far. And it hasn't been
- 43:43Speaker 6: an accident. It hasn't been like they've just been playing–
- 43:47Speaker 6: They've been playing really good, and they're very disciplined. What
- 43:50Speaker 6: we've seen, I can't unsee it. It'll be a true
- 43:53Speaker 6: test this week, but I think they're going to be special,
- 43:56Speaker 6: and I don't think that Ole Miss offensively is going
- 43:58Speaker 6: to be quite as special as they.
- 44:00Speaker 4: Were a year ago. Hashtag ask the bench.
- 44:05Speaker 3: Who wins the Monster High School game this week between
- 44:08Speaker 3: the Ruston Bearcats and Edna Carr Cougars?
- 44:11Speaker 4: Number one versus number two in the state.
- 44:13Speaker 6: That's fun.
- 44:14Speaker 5: Man, Carr's probably got more talent top to bottom.
- 44:16Speaker 4: Carr's awesome. Carr's fun.
- 44:17Speaker 3: Carr's incredibly well coached. So, like, if they win, not
- 44:22Speaker 3: a surprise. But I'm going to go 3-1-8, brethren. I'm
- 44:25Speaker 3: going to go with Kyle Williams. I'm going to go
- 44:27Speaker 3: with the Rustin Bearcats.
- 44:28Speaker 5: I'm also going Rustin. That team in the last five
- 44:30Speaker 5: or six years has been a juggernaut. Just kind of quietly.
- 44:33Speaker 5: A lot of people don't talk about them. I think
- 44:35Speaker 5: Rustin wins.
- 44:35Speaker 4: How about you, Matt?
- 44:38Speaker 6: I'll Rustin.
- 44:44Speaker 7: What did everybody say?
- 44:46Speaker 6: Rustin.
- 44:46Speaker 7: Everyone said Rustin?
- 44:47Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 44:48Speaker 7: Give me Carr.
- 44:49Speaker 5: Carr's probably the more talented team.
- 44:52Speaker 4: I see what you did there.
- 44:55Speaker 6: They have a huge win streak, right?
- 44:58Speaker 4: Who? Carr. They've been good for a long time.
- 45:01Speaker 3: It's going to be a hell of a game. Rustin
- 45:05Speaker 3: has that number one tight end in the country. He
- 45:07Speaker 3: was down at LSU last weekend. I was actually in
- 45:10Speaker 3: the tunnel talking with a couple coaches whenever little Wayne
- 45:16Speaker 3: walked through and he just had his jaw on the floor.
- 45:20Speaker 7: Wayne?
- 45:21Speaker 4: No, the recruit. The recruit did. He was like, wait
- 45:23Speaker 4: a minute.
- 45:23Speaker 6: Is that Weezy?
- 45:25Speaker 8: Ahmaud Hudson was next to Boosie whenever they showed him
- 45:29Speaker 8: on the thing.
- 45:30Speaker 4: Probably a pretty popular day with recruits with those guys
- 45:33Speaker 4: walking around.
- 45:35Speaker 7: Man, I was going to start just rapping of Lil
- 45:38Speaker 7: Wayne if he came up to me. I was just
- 45:40Speaker 7: going to be like, no ceiling, good morning.
- 45:44Speaker 4: Respect.
- 45:45Speaker 6: Pretty cool.
- 45:47Speaker 4: Love that guy.
- 45:47Speaker 3: Hashtag ask the bench. Who is going to be the
- 45:51Speaker 3: leading rusher in this game?
- 45:54Speaker 5: Look, look, look, look.
- 45:55Speaker 2: Sorry.
- 45:55Speaker 5: I had to get that in. I'll go chalk and
- 46:01Speaker 5: say Dylan Jones. I think he has a bounce back game.
- 46:04Speaker 3: I think I would assume the question maybe was in
- 46:06Speaker 3: the entire game. I think they were trying to see if, like,
- 46:09Speaker 3: Lacey or.
- 46:11Speaker 5: I'll still go Dylan Jones.
- 46:12Speaker 4: Okay. I like that. I thought you were going to
