- 0:00Speaker 1: Good morning, welcome. In couple different ways you can get
- 0:02Speaker 1: in touch with us. The Dancing Rabbit Golf text line
- 0:07Speaker 1: is six oh one eight eight five three seven seven six.
- 0:11Speaker 1: If you live in the Jackson Metro Championship Golf in
- 0:15Speaker 1: a Vegas style sportsbook is one hour to one hour
- 0:18Speaker 1: and ten minutes away from you throwing guys or falls.
- 0:22Speaker 1: Philip MP Steakhouse, Pearl River Resort dot Com. Again the
- 0:26Speaker 1: text line six oh one eight eight five three seven
- 0:30Speaker 1: seven six. You can find us on x at Bow
- 0:34Speaker 1: Bounds and the Key City Mississippi Queen that's their blondale.
- 0:38Speaker 1: It's delicious. Key City, Mississippi Queen caller line is six
- 0:42Speaker 1: oh one nine nine five one zero five nine. So
- 0:47Speaker 1: some of you I see like the John CALIPERI drop
- 0:51Speaker 1: that we did earlier and and that's why I don't
- 0:55Speaker 1: buy anything. If you're if your program are at leg
- 1:00Speaker 1: apartment is not winning or not doing what they need
- 1:04Speaker 1: to do, that's on the people there. Everybody has the
- 1:09Speaker 1: alumni base and the resources to win in the sec everybody.
- 1:14Speaker 1: Some people have been either told or they've been led
- 1:17Speaker 1: to believe, or they just don't have a winning mentality
- 1:20Speaker 1: that they can't do it. Nothing could be further from
- 1:23Speaker 1: the truth. And Caliperi is a great example of Arkansas
- 1:27Speaker 1: tripping all over their But again, Arkansas could put one
- 1:30Speaker 1: hundred million dollars in their football program, every their roster
- 1:35Speaker 1: every year, not missbeat it's shoebox money, guys, and yet
- 1:42Speaker 1: they couldn't. They couldn't get going because they didn't have
- 1:46Speaker 1: the right people to get anybody going. They didn't have
- 1:50Speaker 1: the right people to get the plane off the tarmac
- 1:54Speaker 1: and get this thing at thirty five thousand feet. And
- 2:00Speaker 1: Cal was hired as their basketball coach and it took
- 2:04Speaker 1: him thirty seconds and he had millions, millions, and whatever
- 2:11Speaker 1: he wants, he'll get because he's also willing. He doesn't believe,
- 2:16Speaker 1: just like Steve Jobs in his heyday or many others.
- 2:22Speaker 1: Jerry Seinfeldtz another one, he doesn't. I'm talking about guys
- 2:25Speaker 1: that have already had a tremendous amount of success but
- 2:27Speaker 1: are still willing to go make the ask or go
- 2:31Speaker 1: present the new product. And some people either get to
- 2:36Speaker 1: a certain whatever level that is I'm too good for that.
- 2:39Speaker 1: But every time Apple had a new product, what happened.
- 2:42Speaker 1: We've talked about it on the air. It's still one
- 2:44Speaker 1: of the most fascinating things to me. And then I
- 2:46Speaker 1: love to incorporate into the show the last twenty years.
- 2:51Speaker 1: He put on jeans and a black shirt and his
- 2:53Speaker 1: little wire rim glasses and he walked out on a
- 2:55Speaker 1: stage and he understood that that could be the most
- 2:58Speaker 1: important hour for Apple for the next couple of years,
- 3:01Speaker 1: whatever it was they were presenting at the time. And
- 3:05Speaker 1: he did it. And then he smoothed vendors from all
- 3:09Speaker 1: over because that's what he needed to do to make
- 3:12Speaker 1: sure that Apple's product was where they wanted it and
- 3:16Speaker 1: needed it. John Caliperry doesn't care who you are or
- 3:20Speaker 1: what you are. If you have the means, he wants
- 3:22Speaker 1: to talk to you to be involved in the Arkansas
- 3:24Speaker 1: Razorback basketball program. He's not above it. He's already been
- 3:30Speaker 1: a multiple multiple final fours, made close to two hundred
- 3:33Speaker 1: million dollars, and could be on a beach or on
- 3:37Speaker 1: a mountain somewhere. He'll make the call this morning if
- 3:42Speaker 1: someone calls him and says, I've got a guy. There's
- 3:45Speaker 1: an alum in Charleston, South Carolina who just exited a
- 3:50Speaker 1: technology company cal and he just made seven hundred million dollars,
- 3:55Speaker 1: what's his number? And then he's going to look at
- 3:57Speaker 1: his chief of staff and go, will you get the
- 3:59Speaker 1: jet ready? Thank you? I just need ten minutes. We
- 4:02Speaker 1: will be flying to see him. He's on the phone
- 4:05Speaker 1: and they're booking a lunch and he's in Charleston by
- 4:08Speaker 1: twelve thirty or one o'clock at snob or high Cotton
- 4:12Speaker 1: on the Bay, getting his first gift and not thinking
- 4:18Speaker 1: twice about it, probably staying over that night, opening some
- 4:23Speaker 1: French Bordeaux and they'll have a private shift at that
- 4:27Speaker 1: guy's house in which that guy will pay for it,
- 4:29Speaker 1: and feel like when Cal gets back on the plane
- 4:32Speaker 1: to fly to Faeble, that he got the greatest deal
- 4:34Speaker 1: in the world, no doubt. He got to hang out
- 4:37Speaker 1: with John Calipari for twelve, fifteen, eighteen hours, and then
- 4:41Speaker 1: Cal goes home with seven figures and a what annual
- 4:46Speaker 1: donation of that? It's that simple. Are you willing to do? Dalper?
- 4:55Speaker 1: There's extraordinarily wealthy people or successful that are still willing
- 4:59Speaker 1: to die for dollars. There's people who haven't even leveled up,
- 5:03Speaker 1: but are in certain positions for whatever reason, who aren't
- 5:05Speaker 1: willing to dial for dollars. It's it's simple. I mean,
- 5:16Speaker 1: so I say it's it's not as hard as people
- 5:19Speaker 1: make it out to be. But yes, it does take
- 5:22Speaker 1: work and cultivating. But it takes the right people. And
- 5:25Speaker 1: that's why Arkansas Basketball. I'm not saying they're gonna I
- 5:28Speaker 1: don't know what's gonna happen once you get to March Madness,
- 5:31Speaker 1: but Cow's gonna have all the assets and resources that
- 5:34Speaker 1: he needs. Oh yeah, and that's an indictment on what
- 5:41Speaker 1: they were doing prior to his arrival. Yeah, same thing
- 5:46Speaker 1: with Brian O'Connor Atsissippi State. He's gonna have what he
- 5:49Speaker 1: needs to have because he's gonna do whatever he needs
- 5:53Speaker 1: to do whatever is necessary to get what he wants
- 5:56Speaker 1: to get where he wants to go, and people can
- 5:59Speaker 1: either help him or get out of his way. And
- 6:03Speaker 1: that is the mentality that it takes to win. Lane
- 6:06Speaker 1: did the same thing four years ago and maybe five now.
- 6:10Speaker 1: Lane saw the deal, walked in Keef's office and other
- 6:15Speaker 1: here's what we're gonna do now. Keith Carter and Glenn
- 6:20Speaker 1: Boyce were smart enough to go, let's ride right. Oh
- 6:25Speaker 1: you need a bus, No, No, I need this kind
- 6:27Speaker 1: of bus. We will get Oh, you need a plane.
- 6:31Speaker 1: I need this kind of plane to get everybody on
- 6:33Speaker 1: it so that we can fly to wins and possible championships.
- 6:40Speaker 1: And that is the way it's done. Some people are
- 6:43Speaker 1: either lazy or don't have the get it piece of
- 6:47Speaker 1: the deal to go get it. That's what are your thoughts.
- 6:56Speaker 1: Dancing Rabbit Golf tax line Hit me right now six
- 6:58Speaker 1: Toho one eight five three seven seven six. Tom lougan Bill,
- 7:03Speaker 1: national college football analyst with the ESPN at eight thirty. Hey,
- 7:52Speaker 1: thanks for hanging out with us. Thanks for joining us.
- 7:54Speaker 1: We want you to join us every morning. It of bounds.
- 7:57Speaker 1: ESPN one oh five done the zone. We've got amazing
- 8:00Speaker 1: food at Tastes Italian Kitchen and the Renaissance Well and
- 8:04Speaker 1: in Starvile. Taste Italian Kitchen dot Com. They've got the
- 8:08Speaker 1: wood fired pizzas and the shrimp scampy and the calamari.

- 8:29Speaker 1: Pairrot with an Elijah Craig Manhattan, or at Tito's Espresso Martini.
- 8:33Speaker 1: There was a couple across the bar from me last
- 8:36Speaker 1: night at Coast Chop House. It's Mississippi Gulf Coast newest steakhouse.
- 8:40Speaker 1: It is good. If you're down here, go to Coast
- 8:43Speaker 1: Chop House in Harrow's fabulous. They ordered Tito's Espresso martinis.
- 8:49Speaker 1: I can't do that at night. But they looked delicious
- 8:54Speaker 1: and they got really really cool, like like Dean Martin,
- 9:01Speaker 1: Frank Sinatra tight Martini glasses. You know they were. I
- 9:07Speaker 1: just I had not really, I can't remember as me
- 9:11Speaker 1: bars and restaurants as I'm in I don't think I had.
- 9:14Speaker 2: Uh.
- 9:14Speaker 1: In fact, I should have asked about that and gotten
- 9:17Speaker 1: up picture. But I don't think I've ever seen martini
- 9:24Speaker 1: glasses like that. They had a real, real cool look.
- 9:28Speaker 1: But if you're down here for work or work and play,
- 9:31Speaker 1: Coast Chop House in Harris is cool. Yes, I got
- 9:37Speaker 1: a text, so less Pin. The less Pen Invitational is
- 9:41Speaker 1: this weekend at Dancing Rabbit Golf Club because that's where
- 9:44Speaker 1: you go to party and have fun and enjoy great
- 9:49Speaker 1: golf and you can do some Vegas style sports book
- 9:52Speaker 1: and Philip Ems and all that. Wially Cummins. There's a
- 9:56Speaker 1: bunch of guys that are part of that deal and
- 9:58Speaker 1: they're dropping the less pin theitational at Dancing Rabbit Golf
- 10:01Speaker 1: Club this weekend. I'm super excited that they chose to
- 10:06Speaker 1: UH to move the tournament there. You can't beat it.
- 10:10Speaker 1: Azalea's oaks, a little bit of gaming, good food, the
- 10:15Speaker 1: clubhouse is great, and wrap up both nights with with
- 10:19Speaker 1: some Philip M's steaks and and good stuff like that.
- 10:22Speaker 1: So yes, shout out to whoever texts me on the
- 10:26Speaker 1: UH on the left penless is cooked for us years ago.
- 10:29Speaker 1: I can't remember what he did. It could have been Ribs,
- 10:32Speaker 1: it could have been UH the burn Ins, I don't remember.
- 10:37Speaker 1: I ran into somebody who won one of our food
- 10:40Speaker 1: competitions a few years ago, and we have got to
- 10:43Speaker 1: get those back started for football. If y'all want to
- 10:47Speaker 1: be involved, come on, I.
- 10:48Speaker 3: Was with one yesterday. Were you one of the winners?
- 10:53Speaker 3: Sure was?
- 10:54Speaker 1: Well, that's awesome.
- 10:55Speaker 3: Jason Bailey, he won one of the Ribs deals. I
- 10:58Speaker 3: don't believe it was the Nana's Cafe guy out there
- 11:00Speaker 3: in pearl Ah.
- 11:02Speaker 1: I remember that because I didn't know about Nana's. And
- 11:07Speaker 1: after that I went out there and ate lunch.
- 11:09Speaker 3: Yes, very good place. Unfortunately just closed their doors two
- 11:12Speaker 3: weeks ago.
- 11:12Speaker 1: I didn't know that it is a cool place.
- 11:14Speaker 3: He will be cooking in a new place soon.
- 11:16Speaker 1: Okay, good, good. Uh so he won one of our
- 11:19Speaker 1: food competition. Okay, that was that was cool. I ran
- 11:25Speaker 1: to another guy and I can't remember his name, but
- 11:29Speaker 1: he was downstairs at Beagle Bagel.
- 11:31Speaker 3: Nice.
- 11:33Speaker 1: There were too many of them that we had, but
- 11:36Speaker 1: we got to get the rotel one going. Just that's easy.
- 11:39Speaker 1: Rotel and gumbo. People can do that and bring it
- 11:42Speaker 1: in and and not miss much work. And we'll call
- 11:45Speaker 1: your boss and let them know that this is This
- 11:48Speaker 1: is part of community engagement outreach. Yeah, and investment in
- 11:55Speaker 1: the community by competing in the out of bounds food competitions.
- 12:02Speaker 3: It's so smart.
- 12:03Speaker 1: It's just smart. I mean, that's that's right. Whoever did
- 12:07Speaker 1: those burn ends less it may have been. They were
- 12:11Speaker 1: so good it was insane. Yeah, when burn INDs are done,
- 12:17Speaker 1: you know, in fact, you know what this guy this
- 12:20Speaker 1: is funny. I'll tell this story about Coast chop House,
- 12:23Speaker 1: newest steakhouse down here on the coast it's really good.
- 12:27Speaker 1: Check it out. This guy was three seats down from
- 12:29Speaker 1: me last night. I couldn't figure out if he was
- 12:31Speaker 1: part of the good good golf group. Anyway, we uh,
- 12:36Speaker 1: you know, my son goes crazy over all that stuff,
- 12:39Speaker 1: and I think he was, but I wasn't gonna get
- 12:41Speaker 1: into that. But anyway, we started talking about this and that,
- 12:46Speaker 1: and the bartender that had just moved from Vegas to
- 12:52Speaker 1: hear and he was telling me he just got here
- 13:00Speaker 1: a couple of weeks ago and some people were kind
- 13:02Speaker 1: enough to invite him over at some point over Fourth
- 13:05Speaker 1: of July weekend, right when he wasn't working. And he said,
- 13:09Speaker 1: these people that I got to know just in the
- 13:12Speaker 1: last couple of weeks, which is what we should do
- 13:14Speaker 1: when people move, They cooked a brisket nice and he
- 13:19Speaker 1: said I never had anything like. I said, buddy, that
- 13:23Speaker 1: this group around here when it comes to briskets and
- 13:26Speaker 1: butts and stuff like rip, it's it's the best food
- 13:29Speaker 1: that he went it was incredible. I went, yeah, and
- 13:32Speaker 1: that reminded me of burn INDs and you talking about
- 13:34Speaker 1: that Jackson, because listening to him, he said, I'm from
- 13:38Speaker 1: the Northeast, but I've been in Vegas. And my first
- 13:45Speaker 1: comment to him was, Hey, I like Vegas, but the
- 13:49Speaker 1: quality of life down here is going to be much
- 13:51Speaker 1: better for you. And he was like, I can already tell.
- 13:54Speaker 1: And I was like, man, you've got a chance to
- 13:57Speaker 1: get settled down here and have a really good time
- 14:02Speaker 1: and quality of life and so on. And you could
- 14:06Speaker 1: tell that he was excited about the move. But I
- 14:09Speaker 1: love it when someone's only been on the ground for
- 14:11Speaker 1: I think less than three weeks and somebody cooks him
- 14:14Speaker 1: a brisket over the or he's at a cookout with
- 14:17Speaker 1: the brisket over the Oh, this is what it was.
- 14:20Speaker 1: This is funny as hell because we had another We
- 14:23Speaker 1: had another guy come on the show during our big
- 14:26Speaker 1: brisket ribs, but run of that was funny food competitions
- 14:36Speaker 1: that talked about. It was a he measured he uh,
- 14:41Speaker 1: his time on his brisket was around a case of beer. Oh,
- 14:44Speaker 1: he knew when the case of beer was done. He
- 14:47Speaker 1: said that the group that he was with, this guy
- 14:50Speaker 1: from Vegas who's now bartending at Coach Chop House. This
- 14:54Speaker 1: guy from Vegas said, that's what the guy told me.
- 14:59Speaker 1: He was like, when this case beers, when we're done
- 15:01Speaker 1: with this case of beer, the brisket will be done.
- 15:03Speaker 3: I wish I can remember who said that that was gold.
- 15:07Speaker 1: I know, I wish I would. I should have flagged
- 15:10Speaker 1: it and and cut it out and it could be
- 15:14Speaker 1: one of our drops. But and you know, I haven't
- 15:18Speaker 1: had somebody's Yeah, I haven't had a brisket from somebody
- 15:22Speaker 1: smoking it in a while. I gotta get I gotta
- 15:26Speaker 1: get connected with someone so that I can, because there's
- 15:28Speaker 1: nothing like just pulling it off right. Just and you
- 15:33Speaker 1: got an ice cold Budweiser.
- 15:36Speaker 3: Come on, I.
- 15:37Speaker 1: Mean, I'm talking ice cold Budweiser in one hand and
- 15:44Speaker 1: the brisket has just come off the smoker and you're
- 15:47Speaker 1: just take I'll just take a piece. I'm in.
- 15:51Speaker 3: Yeah, that piece turns into twenty.
- 15:53Speaker 1: No doubt. I can sit there for thirty minutes and
- 15:58Speaker 1: uh and get into that, and then you can make
- 16:00Speaker 1: tacos and sliders and everything else you want to do.
- 16:04Speaker 3: I think that time Less brought that burning. I think
- 16:06Speaker 3: that might have been the first burn inder I ever had.
- 16:09Speaker 2: It.
- 16:10Speaker 1: I think it was for me.
- 16:11Speaker 3: I'm pretty sure it was, because then I'll try to
- 16:13Speaker 3: go on a spree of grabbing him because I was like, man,
- 16:15Speaker 3: this isiculously good. I know it was. That was phenomenal.
- 16:20Speaker 3: He can good.
- 16:22Speaker 1: Well, I started running my mouth, which happens, and I
- 16:28Speaker 1: forgot to drop the Travis Kelsey audio. So guess what
- 16:33Speaker 1: We'll do it at nine am because we got Tom Loganville,
- 16:35Speaker 1: starting quarterback at Georgia Tech, won a national championship as
- 16:40Speaker 1: a starting quarterback in Juco over twenty years with ESPN,
- 16:45Speaker 1: Luke's will join us on the Farm Bureau Insurance guest
- 16:48Speaker 1: line and it'll be driven by your next g MC
- 16:53Speaker 1: Sierra truck at Fowler Fowler, GMC Pearl Brandon.
- 17:25Speaker 2: Boy.
- 18:00Speaker 1: Hey, Hey, the Out of Bounds Show is powered by
- 18:02Speaker 1: Blue Cross, Blue Shield of Mississippi. It's good to be blue,

- 18:27Speaker 1: welcome in to you, and we'll have Tom Lougan Bill
- 18:31Speaker 1: coming up here in just a minute to talk some
- 18:36Speaker 1: I think Louisville Cardinal Football and Jeff Brohm. That's an
- 18:40Speaker 1: intriguing you know, that's a big game Week one, Louisville
- 18:48Speaker 1: Ole Miss neutral field in Nashville and Pete Golding's debut
- 18:58Speaker 1: in the regular season against Brom. Golding has the advantage
- 19:02Speaker 1: as far as the roster and the quarterback, and Louisville
- 19:06Speaker 1: has the advantage as far as the head coach. And
- 19:10Speaker 1: it's on a neutral field. I expect Old Miss to
- 19:12Speaker 1: have more people there, uh because they're a football school
- 19:16Speaker 1: and Louisville likes it, but they're a basketball school. But
- 19:19Speaker 1: Brom's done a good job. We're streaming live on the
- 19:22Speaker 1: Out of Bounds radio app and the Zone one oh
- 19:26Speaker 1: five nine dot com. Do we have him cool up?
- 19:32Speaker 1: You can get in touch with us on the Dancing
- 19:34Speaker 1: Rabbit Golf text line six oh one eight eight five
- 19:38Speaker 1: three seven seven six, find us on x at bow
- 19:42Speaker 1: Bounds and the UH Ice Cold Budweiser collar line is
- 19:47Speaker 1: six oh one nine nine five one zero five nine
- 19:53Speaker 1: and again the show is driven by your next GMC
- 19:56Speaker 1: Sierra Truck at Fowler Fowler GMC Pearl Brandon, do you
- 20:01Speaker 1: have Tom all right, cool. Nationville college football analyst with
- 20:05Speaker 1: the ESPN Tom Lougan Bill joins us on the Farm
- 20:08Speaker 1: Bureau Insurance guest line. Luke's a big game that we're
- 20:12Speaker 1: gonna be talking to you about for several weeks now
- 20:14Speaker 1: that it is officially football season. Ole Miss and Louisville
- 20:18Speaker 1: neutral field in Nashville. I think it's spicy. It's got
- 20:22Speaker 1: a lot going on here with Pete Golding's debut in
- 20:24Speaker 1: the regular season. Brom's done a good job at Western
- 20:27Speaker 1: Kentucky and Purdue and Louisville and uh, but Louisville is
- 20:32Speaker 1: break So here's the way I frame it up, just
- 20:34Speaker 1: real quick. Ole Miss has the advantage as far as
- 20:37Speaker 1: roster and quarterback. Louisville has the advantage as far as
- 20:39Speaker 1: head coach in Brom, because he's done a great job
- 20:42Speaker 1: everywhere he's been. But you sent me an interesting text
- 20:46Speaker 1: a couple of days ago. Louisville will roll out Lincoln
- 20:49Speaker 1: con Holts from an Ohio State transfer or this guy
- 20:53Speaker 1: from from West Georgia who actually started there and played.
- 20:57Speaker 1: Con Holts doesn't have any PT under his belt, so
- 21:01Speaker 1: he could be going against a Pete Golding defense. Since
- 21:03Speaker 1: we think it's gonna be pretty damn good at minimum
- 21:06Speaker 1: in game one. What can you tell me about Lincoln
- 21:11Speaker 1: con Holts when we as we march into this game, Luke's.
- 21:15Speaker 4: So, I actually had the Cotton Bowl between Ohio State
- 21:21Speaker 4: and Missouri a couple of years ago. If you recall,
- 21:24Speaker 4: comiccor decided to go into the transfer portal, Ohio State
- 21:27Speaker 4: went with Devin Brown. Devin Brown gets hurt in that
- 21:31Speaker 4: game and Lincoln Keenholts has to play as a freshman,
- 21:36Speaker 4: and you know, at that time, obviously you're playing against
- 21:39Speaker 4: the top fifteen ranked, top ten ranked team. I don't
- 21:42Speaker 4: know where Missouri was at that time, and Missouri ended
- 21:45Speaker 4: up winning the game, but it was just it was
- 21:47Speaker 4: an overwhelming experience for the young guy. And so, you know,
- 21:51Speaker 4: some background on him, the kid out of South Dakota,
- 21:54Speaker 4: and he was a what I would label as one
- 21:57Speaker 4: of those guys that was a really good athlete that
- 21:59Speaker 4: played quarterback. But he's one of those players from a
- 22:02Speaker 4: recruiting perspective, he was intriguing because when you watched him,
- 22:06Speaker 4: you're like, Okay, this guy could play more than one position.
- 22:09Speaker 4: Let's try to develop him at quarterback and then see
- 22:12Speaker 4: how that plays out, and so you know, he stayed
- 22:16Speaker 4: competed there a little bit and then you know, put
- 22:18Speaker 4: himself on the open market. What I found to be
- 22:20Speaker 4: so intriguing is, you know, Jeff Brohm was I think,
- 22:26Speaker 4: really diligent and smart with the three transfer portal guys
- 22:32Speaker 4: that he took at Louisville, starting with Jack Plummer right
- 22:35Speaker 4: then it went to Tyler Schotts, then it went to
- 22:38Speaker 4: Miller Moss. Now the common denominator of all three of
- 22:41Speaker 4: those guys is that they had played a ton of football.
- 22:44Speaker 4: You know, they had been around and they'd seen the
- 22:46Speaker 4: live bullets flying by. And so now Jeff Broms could
- 22:51Speaker 4: try to completely go another direction and it's kind of
- 22:54Speaker 4: going into developmental mode where he might be playing with
- 22:58Speaker 4: one or two different quarters that really haven't played any
- 23:01Speaker 4: significant football, which is a total deviation from his process
- 23:05Speaker 4: to this point. And I think if you've seen anything
- 23:08Speaker 4: in the transfer portable the last three to five years,
- 23:11Speaker 4: is there is significant value in experience, especially early on
- 23:15Speaker 4: when you got to take on an opponent like Old
- 23:17Speaker 4: Miss and they're going to have an experienced guy and
- 23:19Speaker 4: you're not. So I'm going to be very intrigued to
- 23:21Speaker 4: see how this thing plays out.
- 23:23Speaker 1: Okay, so Lincoln keen Holts for our listeners, especially our
- 23:27Speaker 1: Ole Miss fans, transfer from Ohio State. He may be
- 23:31Speaker 1: the guy, but I did read a couple of articles
- 23:34Speaker 1: yesterday that Davin Widner from West Georgia actually had a
- 23:38Speaker 1: better spring game than him, and he actually played all
- 23:41Speaker 1: those games at West Georgia last year. Even though keen
- 23:44Speaker 1: Holtz is the bigger name. We'll kind of see what
- 23:47Speaker 1: plays out. Luke's let's stay on Louisville and Old Miss
- 23:51Speaker 1: and anything else you can mine on Keenoltz as we
- 23:54Speaker 1: go back and forth. Please drop it. But Brom, he's
- 23:58Speaker 1: intriguing to me because he did a hell of a
- 24:03Speaker 1: job at Western Kentucky. He was able to go into
- 24:06Speaker 1: the hell hole of Purdue and get out. A lot
- 24:09Speaker 1: of times you just go to get paid, which Bury
- 24:11Speaker 1: Otam may be doing, and I get that too, But
- 24:15Speaker 1: he was able to go to Purdue and win his
- 24:17Speaker 1: way out and get to his alma mater. And I
- 24:19Speaker 1: think he's told some people know because it is his
- 24:23Speaker 1: alma mater. Although they're not a football school. Size it
- 24:27Speaker 1: up for me. I think Jeff Brohm is a damn
- 24:29Speaker 1: good football coach.
- 24:30Speaker 4: How do you see it, Lukes, He is a really
- 24:32Speaker 4: good football coach. And I think the thing that people
- 24:34Speaker 4: don't realize about the Louisville job is while everybody's in
- 24:38Speaker 4: the red right now in the current state of college athletics,
- 24:43Speaker 4: Louisville will invest in football. Louisville got it fantastic football operations, facility,
- 24:48Speaker 4: an indoor facility, They've done renovations for the stadium multiple
- 24:52Speaker 4: occasions over the last fifteen years. It's a good job.
- 24:55Speaker 4: The downside of the job is you don't have in
- 24:59Speaker 4: state talent from a high school recruiting perspective to just
- 25:03Speaker 4: build your roster without having a cross border. They've got
- 25:06Speaker 4: to go into other people's backyard. But now with the
- 25:08Speaker 4: transfer portal, you know that that's not as significant as
- 25:11Speaker 4: as it once was. If you recall back when Charlie
- 25:13Speaker 4: Strong was the coach there, you know, all of those
- 25:16Speaker 4: guys that they had, particularly on offense, were from South Florida,
- 25:19Speaker 4: all right, and so including Teddy Bridgewater, and so I
- 25:24Speaker 4: think that he's really happy there because from a conference
- 25:27Speaker 4: affiliation standpoint, they can compete. They've competed from the moment
- 25:30Speaker 4: they joined it. You know, they haven't been able to
- 25:33Speaker 4: get into that championship level, you know, compete to be
- 25:38Speaker 4: in the championship game consistently yet. But I do think
- 25:43Speaker 4: it's the job that has some patience, which is a
- 25:45Speaker 4: good thing, and it's a job that does have resources,
- 25:49Speaker 4: even though you know it's largely considered a basketball school.
- 25:55Speaker 1: Are they now in this new you mentioned the transfer
- 25:58Speaker 1: port they finished in the top ten, so so he's
- 26:02Speaker 1: you're right there. They gave Brohm and his staff money
- 26:07Speaker 1: Luke's to go shop for players because you don't ever
- 26:11Speaker 1: know how good they'll be. But they were able to
- 26:14Speaker 1: land some players with some pretty good pedigrees and finish
- 26:18Speaker 1: in the top ten in the in the portal rankings.
- 26:22Speaker 1: Do you see him as a guy that because that's
- 26:25Speaker 1: his alma mater, he's willing to stay there for a while.
- 26:30Speaker 4: I think, you know, if he continues to win and
- 26:34Speaker 4: and and maybe even elevated, you know further, then there's
- 26:39Speaker 4: gonna be some some places I think that would would
- 26:42Speaker 4: be knocking on the door where if you're if you're
- 26:46Speaker 4: looking at it from a national competitive standpoint, you'd have
- 26:51Speaker 4: to consider overtures. If a job comes around where you
- 26:56Speaker 4: know your resources and your funding, particularly on the NIL
- 26:59Speaker 4: side administratively, where they're just one all in on football.
- 27:04Speaker 4: And that's not to say that Louisville's not, but there's
- 27:06Speaker 4: gonna be some jobs that would be more attractive from
- 27:08Speaker 4: that regard. Then I think you have you have to listen. Now.
- 27:12Speaker 4: I think he needs to get in the a SEC
- 27:14Speaker 4: Championship game. I think he needs to put together some
- 27:16Speaker 4: ten plus win seasons to really uh become that guy
- 27:22Speaker 4: that somebody would target. But I just think you have
- 27:25Speaker 4: to in today's climate, you have to always be looking
- 27:29Speaker 4: at that because the expectation, right is that, Okay, well
- 27:33Speaker 4: we want to compete for a college football playoffs berth. Well,
- 27:36Speaker 4: in order to do that, you have to have everything
- 27:38Speaker 4: in your back pocket to be able to do that.
- 27:41Speaker 4: And you know there are other jobs out there, you know,
- 27:44Speaker 4: Like I look at the Penn State job in Matt Campbell,
- 27:47Speaker 4: and you know, I think Jeff Brown would have been, oh,
- 27:50Speaker 4: sorry about that guy, that's my dog.
- 27:52Speaker 1: Somebody got excited about Penn State. I like that. I
- 27:57Speaker 1: love it. Sorry, man, No, you're good. Out of bounds.
- 28:05Speaker 1: ESPN one oh five nine The Zone. Tom Lougan Bill
- 28:08Speaker 1: says Penn State and his dogs get all fired up,
- 28:11Speaker 1: so they like something about Penn State this year.
- 28:13Speaker 5: Luke's go ahead, Yeah, yeah, I just I think that's,
- 28:16Speaker 5: you know, that's the job that would be kind of
- 28:18Speaker 5: in line with the conversation that we're having, right is Okay,
- 28:22Speaker 5: where where would.
- 28:23Speaker 4: The resources be that could get you to be a
- 28:26Speaker 4: consistent college football playoff contender each and every year? And
- 28:29Speaker 4: I think it's those the jobs It would you know,
- 28:33Speaker 4: probably lure a guy like Jeff Brohm to consider leaving.
- 28:36Speaker 4: But other than that, I think he's got a great
- 28:38Speaker 4: situation there.
- 28:40Speaker 1: All Right, we were talking Ole Miss and Louisville. Uh
- 28:44Speaker 1: Ole Miss could be facing Lincoln Keenholtz, who's a transfer
- 28:49Speaker 1: from Ohio State and hasn't really ever played at the
- 28:52Speaker 1: college level. That bodes well for Old Miss. Luke's what
- 28:56Speaker 1: did you think about the way I framed it up.
- 28:58Speaker 1: I look at it like old has the advantage as
- 29:01Speaker 1: far as roster, They have the advantage as far as quarterback,
- 29:05Speaker 1: and not that Golding's not a good coach, but Louisville
- 29:08Speaker 1: has the advantage as far as head coach because brom
- 29:11Speaker 1: has over ten years of head coaching experience at Western
- 29:14Speaker 1: Kentucky Purdue and Louisville and has a proven track record
- 29:19Speaker 1: with all three. What do you think about the way
- 29:22Speaker 1: I framed up that game.
- 29:23Speaker 4: No, I think that's fair. I think it's ballad. I
- 29:26Speaker 4: also think that they will likely play the West Georgia
- 29:28Speaker 4: kid because he's played and he's played well, He's played
- 29:32Speaker 4: at a high level. It gives them a better chance
- 29:36Speaker 4: than the opener to have somebody that has has been
- 29:41Speaker 4: in gains and seen significant snaps. You know, I think
- 29:45Speaker 4: the thing about Jeff Brom if you've watched Louisville is
- 29:47Speaker 4: you know they're They're always creative on offense. They are
- 29:51Speaker 4: they are going to be well coached, They will be
- 29:54Speaker 4: well prepared. Old Miss will probably top to bottom have
- 29:59Speaker 4: better play, which I would take that over anything else. Yes,
- 30:03Speaker 4: but the quarterback position for for ale Miss gives them,
- 30:06Speaker 4: I think, distinct advantages over gain preparation from the other
- 30:12Speaker 4: head coach.
- 30:13Speaker 1: How do you see Louisville in the your dialt in
- 30:16Speaker 1: the ACC? You started at quarterback in the ACC? Where
- 30:20Speaker 1: do you put Louisville? Are they in your tier two?
- 30:24Speaker 1: Kind of in the a CEC right now, Luke's I think.
- 30:28Speaker 4: That their tier two probably blended Tier one. You know,
- 30:32Speaker 4: they've kind of been in the top five pack over
- 30:35Speaker 4: the last couple of years. You know, when when you consider, okay,
- 30:40Speaker 4: you know a team like Clemson, but then you in
- 30:43Speaker 4: a team like Miami. I mean, obviously they haven't been
- 30:46Speaker 4: in that class, but they've been kind of similar to
- 30:48Speaker 4: what SMU has become in a short period of time
- 30:51Speaker 4: in that conference. But I would say that they've gone
- 30:53Speaker 4: past Florida State and becoming more stable and more productive
- 30:59Speaker 4: and more reliable from an on field product each and
- 31:03Speaker 4: every week. And I think that, you know, they're probably
- 31:05Speaker 4: in that same group with MC State and SMU, as
- 31:09Speaker 4: I mentioned, I don't think I think they're they're further
- 31:12Speaker 4: along than Virginia and North Carolina. Probably similar in terms
- 31:17Speaker 4: of onfield production to what Duke has been over the
- 31:20Speaker 4: last you know, at least since Mike Elko got there
- 31:23Speaker 4: and then departed now under Manny Diaz. So now you're
- 31:26Speaker 4: probably putting them in the top five or sixteen.
- 31:29Speaker 1: Okay, Tom Louganville on ESPN one oh five downe the
- 31:35Speaker 1: zone driven by your next gmccierra truck at Fowler gmc pearl,
- 31:40Speaker 1: Brandon David Sweeney, I know, I love asking you this
- 31:45Speaker 1: periodically because I know, I mean, no one in college
- 31:50Speaker 1: football was more locked into Clemson for a ten year
- 31:53Speaker 1: run like you were because of where you live, being
- 31:57Speaker 1: a national college football guy all that, and when when
- 32:00Speaker 1: when Benibles and Scott and Elliott and all those guys
- 32:04Speaker 1: were going through and they were winning all that, you
- 32:06Speaker 1: were right there. Do you think Dabo can ever bottle
- 32:14Speaker 1: the magic again at Clemson or he's already a Hall
- 32:20Speaker 1: of Fame coach but his best is in the rearview mirror.
- 32:25Speaker 4: Well, I think they've got access to the same type
- 32:27Speaker 4: of player that they've always had access to. The landscape
- 32:30Speaker 4: has chanced, They've fought it right, they've pushed back, they
- 32:33Speaker 4: haven't kind of fallen in line, and really, in my opinion,
- 32:37Speaker 4: truly accepted, Okay, this is the new world order, and
- 32:40Speaker 4: if we don't get in, you know, we're gonna struggle
- 32:44Speaker 4: to get back to that pinnacle. I do think there's
- 32:46Speaker 4: some validity in that high school recruiting. I don't think
- 32:50Speaker 4: has really shifted for them. I think they've done a
- 32:52Speaker 4: great job there. Their player development has always been very strong.
- 32:55Speaker 4: Their player retention has for the most part, been very strong.
- 33:00Speaker 4: I gotta be honest with you if I just oversimplified
- 33:03Speaker 4: it here, they've missed on quarterbacks back to back, and
- 33:07Speaker 4: remember they had like a nine year run between Taj Boyd,
- 33:13Speaker 4: Deshaun Watson, you could even throw Kelly Bryant in there,
- 33:17Speaker 4: and then of course Trevor Lawrence where they nailed the
- 33:21Speaker 4: quarterback position. And then they flopped big on DJ Luiangola.
- 33:26Speaker 4: And I think there were very mixed results with Kate Klubnick,
- 33:30Speaker 4: who at times looked like he's going to be a
- 33:32Speaker 4: pretty good player, but could never sustain it, could never
- 33:35Speaker 4: elevate it. And I think that has set them back
- 33:39Speaker 4: as much as anything else. And what's going to be interesting.
- 33:42Speaker 4: I think all eyes are going to be on Chris
- 33:43Speaker 4: Pazina because Clemson chose not to go in the transfer
- 33:48Speaker 4: portal and supplement the quarterback room. Now they bring Chad
- 33:51Speaker 4: Morris back from an offensive coordinator perspective, I think that
- 33:53Speaker 4: will be a positive. He In Dabbo I think have
- 33:56Speaker 4: always been on the same page, but they're on a ride.
- 34:00Speaker 4: Chris is in a based off of a very small
- 34:03Speaker 4: sample size last year, but they must have saw something
- 34:05Speaker 4: that he really liked that they thought it could be
- 34:08Speaker 4: the answer for him, But that position, more than anything else,
- 34:11Speaker 4: is I think been directly related to what you know,
- 34:15Speaker 4: their slit has been on the field.
- 34:17Speaker 1: Tom Lougan Bill with the ESPN joining us on the
- 34:20Speaker 1: out of bound shift is Let's go back to Trinidad Chambliss.
- 34:24Speaker 1: Is he by far and away the best decision maker
- 34:28Speaker 1: at quarterback in the SEC.
- 34:32Speaker 4: I think he's in the discussion. I would say that
- 34:35Speaker 4: arch Manning is certainly in the discussion when it comes
- 34:38Speaker 4: to just pure decision making. I think that Trinidad, as
- 34:43Speaker 4: far as decision making, is probably proven to be more
- 34:48Speaker 4: consistent than John Mattier at Oklahoma. You know, Gunner Stockton
- 34:53Speaker 4: has been a guy that's been uber consistent for Georgia.
- 34:56Speaker 4: Probably doesn't get the credit he's due until we see
- 34:59Speaker 4: Leonora Stellar take the game to the next level, which
- 35:01Speaker 4: I think a lot of people are expecting will happen
- 35:03Speaker 4: this fall. Whether that's true or not, I don't know.
- 35:06Speaker 4: He's been more productive and consistent than Leonora's sellers, so
- 35:10Speaker 4: I think I think it's fair to make that assessment.
- 35:13Speaker 4: You know, we don't know yet with Auburn and USF
- 35:16Speaker 4: transfer Byron Brown, although he's been super productive when he
- 35:19Speaker 4: was he was playing for the Bulls, and obviously he's
- 35:22Speaker 4: got a great relationship with his head coach, So there's
- 35:24Speaker 4: gonna be some continuity there. Well, we don't know yet
- 35:27Speaker 4: on Alabama. As I've said to you before with LSU
- 35:30Speaker 4: and Lane Kiffin, it's not about Sam Levitt's ability. It's
- 35:33Speaker 4: about Sam Levitt's ability to stay healthy. Right, That's going
- 35:37Speaker 4: to be something we got to keep a real close
- 35:39Speaker 4: eye on. So I think Trinidad Chambliss is probably the
- 35:43Speaker 4: most complete player when it comes to having to defend
- 35:47Speaker 4: his arm and his legs. When it comes to decisions,
- 35:51Speaker 4: he's really good at being disciplined from within the pocket
- 35:54Speaker 4: and not taken off unless he has to. I think
- 35:57Speaker 4: that's part of the decision making. It's not just progressions,
- 36:00Speaker 4: passing game reads, known when to flash, knowing when to
- 36:03Speaker 4: hang in there, knowing when the play is broken down.
- 36:05Speaker 4: You've got to you know, you've got a playoff platform. Now,
- 36:08Speaker 4: that's probably where he has an advantage over others.
- 36:12Speaker 1: Okay, let's go back to what you hit on earlier
- 36:15Speaker 1: with Jeff Brohm and Louisville and him going with an
- 36:18Speaker 1: inexperienced QB. It looks like Lane is absolutely not going
- 36:22Speaker 1: to do that in this new way, this of college football.
- 36:27Speaker 1: He's going to go and get somebody who's got big
- 36:30Speaker 1: time reps underneath his belt. How much risk is Kaitlin
- 36:33Speaker 1: de Boor and Alabama taken by kind of waiting on
- 36:37Speaker 1: and rolling out Keelan Russell and or Austin Mack, neither
- 36:41Speaker 1: who had played. I know Austin has waited, has bided
- 36:45Speaker 1: his time, but still Bama wants to win now and
- 36:49Speaker 1: getting punked by Indiana is not what they want, even
- 36:51Speaker 1: though they got into the second round of the College
- 36:53Speaker 1: football playoffs. How much risk is that for Kaylin to
- 36:56Speaker 1: Boor in Alabama?
- 36:57Speaker 4: Luke's I actually think it's minimal. And I say that
- 37:01Speaker 4: because I don't think it was a great transfer portal
- 37:04Speaker 4: quarterback class top to bottom. Okay, And and you know,
- 37:08Speaker 4: when you've got guys like Keilan Russell, who they've invested
- 37:11Speaker 4: in and developed and is really really talented, more talented
- 37:15Speaker 4: than Austin Mack and a little bit more dynamic, I think.
- 37:18Speaker 4: But Austin Mack too has been in that system, He's
- 37:20Speaker 4: been in that program. They know what they're going to
- 37:21Speaker 4: get out of him. I think you're weighing risk by saying, Okay,
- 37:25Speaker 4: do we go out and get an unknown who has
- 37:27Speaker 4: or has not played, especially if we're not in love
- 37:30Speaker 4: with anybody. But we got these two guys here that
- 37:32Speaker 4: we know an awful lot about, that we think are
- 37:33Speaker 4: talented and can take the next step. I also think
- 37:38Speaker 4: that retooling the offensive line, getting new leadership from a
- 37:42Speaker 4: from a coaching perspective, that's going to play a big
- 37:44Speaker 4: role for Alabama too. They can't they can't do what
- 37:47Speaker 4: they did last year where they go into every single
- 37:49Speaker 4: game and everybody in the stadium knows that they can't
- 37:51Speaker 4: run the football, right, That's just that. That's not now
- 37:54Speaker 4: When you have a guy like Ty Simpson that could,
- 37:56Speaker 4: they could compensate for that because he was really really good,
- 37:59Speaker 4: and I would argue really really good considering that he
- 38:04Speaker 4: kind of had to do it all on his own.
- 38:07Speaker 4: You know, that was kind of an eraser for them.
- 38:09Speaker 4: But with limited experience, you may not necessarily have that.
- 38:12Speaker 4: So the run game I think is every bit as
- 38:16Speaker 4: pivotal to the development of those quarterbacks and how fast
- 38:19Speaker 4: they come along is anything else.
- 38:21Speaker 1: Okay, having said that, like we have com I've only
- 38:28Speaker 1: got a minute. We have confidence in Georgia, LSU, maybe Texas,
- 38:33Speaker 1: possibly Old Miss. Do you think Alabama can be there
- 38:36Speaker 1: in the hunt in the end in mid to late
- 38:38Speaker 1: November with one of those two quarterbacks.
- 38:42Speaker 4: Absolutely, because I think they're loaded on defense. They're going
- 38:47Speaker 4: to be really good on that side of the football.
- 38:48Speaker 4: They've got targets, they've got running back. I mean, the
- 38:52Speaker 4: quarterback and the offensive line is going to be is
- 38:55Speaker 4: going to be the question that needs to be answered,
- 38:58Speaker 4: and I don't think necessary because of how good they're
- 39:01Speaker 4: going to be on defense. If the quarterback has to
- 39:02Speaker 4: be a superhero, I think the quarterback has to not
- 39:05Speaker 4: screw it up right, just take the plays that are
- 39:08Speaker 4: there to be made, make the routine plays routinely, and
- 39:11Speaker 4: as you grow and blossom, you put more on that
- 39:13Speaker 4: quarterback's plate, and then you start to ask more of
- 39:16Speaker 4: them as he becomes more and more comfortable. But they've
- 39:19Speaker 4: got components around the quarterback in my opinion, that will
- 39:23Speaker 4: allow them to work through the development of the quarterback
- 39:28Speaker 4: because they're gonna be They're gonna be talented and deep
- 39:30Speaker 4: around them.
- 39:31Speaker 1: Okay, I know this is ridiculous to say, but I
- 39:36Speaker 1: love just saying it. Bama is the sleeper question Mark
- 39:40Speaker 1: love it. Okay, I had somebody else's tied into the
- 39:45Speaker 1: Bama program that said what you just said. They are
- 39:48Speaker 1: going to be really good on defense and there's no
- 39:51Speaker 1: doubt that that can carry you. Tom Lougan Bill, have
- 39:54Speaker 1: a great weekend, my man. We'll talk next week.
- 39:56Speaker 4: We'll do Thanks Bob to seeing.
- 39:59Speaker 1: ESPN College which football started at quarterback for Georgia Tech
- 40:03Speaker 1: won a national championship JUCO twenty years plus ESPN. Tom
- 40:07Speaker 1: Louganbill on the Ida Bounds Show, ESPN one oh five
