Speaker 3: heard this before. With high school playoffs, in fact, word
• 2:06
Speaker 3: came down yesterday there would be no playoffs at all,
• 2:08
Speaker 3: at least for now, which we kind of thought that
• 2:10
Speaker 3: was what was going to happen. Well, it's official now.
• 2:12
Speaker 3: Fred Persinger, who's practically now a co host of this
• 2:15
Speaker 3: show because I've had him on so much, we'll join
• 2:17
Speaker 3: us a little bit later on to discuss it. Yesterday, Governor,
• 2:20
Speaker 3: like Patrick Morris, he had a pressure to announce how
• 2:22
Speaker 3: he would transition into his new role and who will
• 2:24
Speaker 3: accompany him. We'll talk to Stephen Allan Adams from Ogden
• 2:28
Speaker 3: Newspapers about that. Plus do you like biscuits and gravy?
• 2:30
Speaker 3: Everybody likes biscuits and gravy. You wouldn't be a real
• 2:33
Speaker 3: West Virginian if you didn't. This Saturday Capitol Market there
• 2:36
Speaker 3: is a Biscuits and Gravy Bowl. They're calling it. Joanna
• 2:39
Speaker 3: Romeo as one of the organizers that she and one
• 2:42
Speaker 3: of the other organizers, Woild, joined us to talk about

Speaker 3: three five five zeros zero AA. Delegate Kayla Young is here.
• 3:00
Speaker 3: Good morning, How are you?
• 3:01
Speaker 5: Good morning? Good still, Delegate Kayla.
• 3:03
Speaker 3: Young still still welcome, Welcome to our new abode.
• 3:06
Speaker 5: It's nice here. Everyone that can't see it.
• 3:08
Speaker 3: We're asking, well, you will be able to see it,
• 3:10
Speaker 3: but after the first of the year, but we'll be
• 3:12
Speaker 3: back in the old studio by then. Then we'll be
• 3:14
  Speaker 3: on television.
• 3:15
Speaker 5: Good so far. Dave's wearing pants.
• 3:18
Speaker 3: Yes, yes, I am wearing pants. Yes, yes, I am
• 3:20
Speaker 3: indeed wearing pants. So last week, congratulations on your win.
• 3:24
Speaker 6: You return to the.
• 3:25
Speaker 3: House to represent District fifty six. So talk about the
• 3:28
Speaker 3: campaign overall. How was the campaign.
• 3:30
Speaker 5: The campaign was a bit of a slog this year.
• 3:33
Speaker 3: Is that a political term? A slog?
• 3:36
  Speaker 5: Yes?
• 3:36
Speaker 7: Maybe very professional. This campaign was nat Mine was nastier
• 3:40
Speaker 7: than it's ever been before. And I don't like that.
• 3:43
Speaker 7: I like to get out and meet people and you know,
• 3:46
Speaker 7: talk about transparency and honesty in the government, and it
• 3:49
Speaker 7: was kind of nasty. So I'm glad it's over, but I'm.
• 3:51
Speaker 3: Happy it was nasty about it. If you don't want my ask.
• 3:53
Speaker 7: Lots of mailers against me that said things that just
• 3:56
Speaker 7: weren't true. It's one thing for folks to attack my
• 3:59
Speaker 7: record with things that don't agree with. That's fine, fair game,
• 4:01
Speaker 7: but just saying things that weren't true, that I am
• 4:05
Speaker 7: a danger to children, that I voted on bills that
• 4:07
Speaker 7: I didn't vote on, just things that I don't you know,
• 4:11
  Speaker 7: I don't think are right.
• 4:12
Speaker 3: Okay. So obviously you got in your mind the correct
• 4:16
Speaker 3: message out to people, because you had an issue with
• 4:19
Speaker 3: those messages. But you got because I mean, you got
• 4:22
Speaker 3: a message out and it resonate with voters. Why why
• 4:24
Speaker 3: did your message resonate so well with voters.
• 4:26
  Speaker 5: I think I meet.
• 4:27
Speaker 7: Voters where they are, and I think I'm honest and transparent.
• 4:30
Speaker 7: You know, I can't do everything, especially being in a
• 4:31
Speaker 7: super minority, but I listen to people regardless of what
• 4:35
Speaker 7: they think or what they agree with. Since I've looked
• 4:37
Speaker 7: at the numbers, it's interesting to me that hundreds of
• 4:40
Speaker 7: folks that voted for Trump also voted for me and
• 4:42
Speaker 7: those It's clear and for a moment, I'd say at
• 4:46
Speaker 7: least five or six hundred.
• 4:47
Speaker 3: And you know, I heard I was talking to somebody
• 4:50
Speaker 3: about this the other day. There is a lot of crossover. YEP,
• 4:53
Speaker 3: with people and we know what, you know, the mega
• 4:58
Speaker 3: whatever that Donald Trump is in West Virginia, the mega
• 5:00
Speaker 3: MAGA in West Virginia. And I don't see that obviously
• 5:02
Speaker 3: that we didn't nobody thought that was going to go
• 5:04
Speaker 3: away this time around. Yeah, but there were not only
• 5:07
Speaker 3: in your race, but the but the Hollis Lewis rights,
• 5:10
Speaker 3: the Mike Pushkin rates. There were people that elected Democrats
• 5:14
Speaker 3: or re elected them to the House that also voted
• 5:16
  Speaker 3: for Donald Trump.
• 5:17
Speaker 7: A lot of tickets splitting. Yeah, and that's a nationwide thing.
• 5:20
Speaker 7: I mean, state legislators overall barely changed the numbers completely.
• 5:23
Speaker 7: And you know, so there's a lot of people that
• 5:26
Speaker 7: overwhelmingly supported Donald Trump and me or and other Democrats,
• 5:30
Speaker 7: and so you know, I don't want to alienate those people.
• 5:32
Speaker 7: I want to listen to them too. I represent them also,
• 5:34
Speaker 7: even if we don't agree on who should be the president,
• 5:37
Speaker 7: it's still my job to represent them at the State House.
• 5:39
Speaker 5: And that's what I'm going to keep doing.
• 5:40
Speaker 3: Speaking of the state House, I know interims just wrapped up,
• 5:43
Speaker 3: is that right? Anything you want to report from there?
• 5:46
Speaker 7: We had a meeting on post audits yesterday about contract
• 5:48
Speaker 7: nursing and it sounds like they suggested we sell most
• 5:51
Speaker 7: of the long term care facilities in the state. The
• 5:53
Speaker 7: most alarming thing from that meeting was finding out it
• 5:56
Speaker 7: takes six hundred days to post a job.
• 5:58
Speaker 3: I saw I think a million Ice League was the
• 6:01
Speaker 3: person that I saw that that had posted on West
• 6:03
Speaker 3: Virginia watch something about that on Twitter. Yes, why six.
• 6:08
Speaker 7: Hundred days between when a vacancy is created and when
• 6:10
Speaker 7: the job is actually posted?
• 6:12
Speaker 3: Is that because there aren't enough people that want the
• 6:14
  Speaker 3: jobs or.
• 6:15
Speaker 5: They're not even posted.
• 6:16
Speaker 7: So that's something we're going That wasn't the focus of
• 6:20
Speaker 7: the meeting. That just happened to be what came out
• 6:21
Speaker 7: from the meeting. So we're going to have to get
• 6:23
Speaker 7: more information. And Speaker Hanshaw did ask for more information,
• 6:25
  Speaker 7: but I mean.
• 6:26
Speaker 3: I'm gonna imagine that took everybody by surprise, right certain
• 6:29
  Speaker 3: across the aisle.
• 6:29
Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean it was just at the end of
• 6:31
Speaker 7: the end of the report in a flow chart, and
• 6:32
Speaker 7: I was and I asked, am I reading this right?
• 6:35
  Speaker 5: I can't.
• 6:35
Speaker 7: This can't possibly be correct. It takes nearly two years
• 6:38
Speaker 7: to post a job.
• 6:39
  Speaker 4: No way.
• 6:40
Speaker 7: So hopefully that's something we can fix in the legislative
• 6:43
Speaker 7: session coming up this February.
• 6:44
Speaker 3: Well, and I want to get your take on the
• 6:46
Speaker 3: upcoming session, but I need to take care of this.
• 6:48
Speaker 3: So Dave Allen showing five eighty live brought to you
• 6:50
Speaker 3: apart by Generations Physical Therapy offering, concussion care, pre and
• 6:54
Speaker 3: post operative rehab, fall prevention, water therapy, Women's health workers
• 6:58
Speaker 3: COMP and more. And they are the experts and treating
• 7:00
Speaker 3: neck and back pain. For an appointment called three zero four, seven,
• 7:03
Speaker 3: six zero fifty six to sixty year visit Generations PT
• 7:06
Speaker 3: dot com. So what does the new session look like
• 7:09
Speaker 3: when it gets here? And in the new year you
• 7:11
Speaker 3: get a new governor? All the Board of Public Works
• 7:13
Speaker 3: will be changed except for the Agriculture Commissioner. So you
• 7:18
Speaker 3: picked up you'll have some new new comrades in there.
• 7:21
Speaker 3: I should probably shouldn't say comrades because the Democrats often
• 7:24
Speaker 3: get accused, but so do jb Acres and the you
• 7:26
Speaker 3: know this time of being anyway, I'm getting off the
• 7:29
Speaker 3: track here. What's the new year look like?
• 7:31
Speaker 7: It's going to look like a lot of the same
• 7:33
Speaker 7: in the House, I think, I mean, we're going to
• 7:34
Speaker 7: have about a dozen new members.
• 7:36
Speaker 5: I think the House went from.
• 7:37
Speaker 7: Eighty nine to eleven to ninety one to two, so
• 7:40
Speaker 7: things don't change a massive amount with that number. So
• 7:43
  Speaker 7: we'll see. I think there'll be a lot of different
• 7:45
Speaker 7: priorities of this new gubernatorial administration, at least that's what
• 7:48
Speaker 7: we're seeing. A lot of different priorities, some of which
• 7:51
Speaker 7: I agree with wholeheartedly. I want to get rid of
• 7:53
Speaker 7: waste in government. I'm worried for a lot of the
• 7:57
Speaker 7: folks that are probably going to lose their job as
• 7:59
  Speaker 7: a result.
• 8:00
Speaker 3: Do you see that happening? You see a lot of people.
• 8:02
  Speaker 7: I mean I think, yeah, I think so. I think
• 8:04
Speaker 7: cutting spending and cutting waste means you have to get
• 8:06
Speaker 7: rid of a lot of jobs, and some of those
• 8:08
Speaker 7: probably might need to go. But I just hope there's
• 8:11
Speaker 7: a plan for those folks. But yeah, I think we
• 8:14
Speaker 7: should have an efficient government that works six hundred days
• 8:16
Speaker 7: to post a job in it.
• 8:18
Speaker 5: So you know, I'm cautiously optimistic.
• 8:23
Speaker 3: One of the criticisms of former well he's still governor now,
• 8:28
Speaker 3: but he's now the US Senator elect Jim Justice, was
• 8:31
Speaker 3: that many people said he just was not engaged, and
• 8:35
Speaker 3: especially in the legislative process. He either wasn't there or
• 8:38
Speaker 3: maybe send other people or so on and so forth.
• 8:41
Speaker 3: I know both people on both sides of the isle
• 8:43
Speaker 3: have said that, so I'm not just speaking for the Democrats.
• 8:46
Speaker 3: Republicans have said that as well. Are you anticipating that
• 8:49
Speaker 3: to change with now, Governor like Patrick Morrison?
• 8:51
Speaker 7: Well, I saw photos of all the new they're doing
• 8:53
Speaker 7: orientation at the United States Senate and House this week,
• 8:56
Speaker 7: So all the new members and members elect are there,
• 8:58
Speaker 7: even the ones that contested races that aren't decided yet
• 9:01
Speaker 7: are there in Washington.
• 9:02
  Speaker 5: In Washington, d C.
• 9:03
Speaker 7: There was a photo of all the new Republican Senators
• 9:05
Speaker 7: with Leader Mitch McConnell, and Senator elect Justice was not
• 9:10
Speaker 7: in the photograph. Yeah, so I hope he'll show up,
• 9:13
Speaker 7: and especially if it's going to be a pretty tight Senate.
• 9:15
Speaker 7: You know, West Virginia needs solid representation regardless of party.
• 9:19
Speaker 7: So I hope he'll show up, have super high hopes.
• 9:22
  Speaker 7: I also think he's gonna commute, and I don't know
• 9:25
Speaker 7: how you do that from Louisbourg.
• 9:27
Speaker 3: Well, I have been told by some people that he's
• 9:31
Speaker 3: not going to be on committees in Washington, and again,
• 9:35
Speaker 3: you're right, he was a no show for one reason
• 9:37
Speaker 3: or another yesterday for the for the photo opportunity. I
• 9:40
Speaker 3: do understand he was at the Capitol law a photo. Yeah,
• 9:42
Speaker 3: he was there, but he was also from what we're told.
• 9:45
Speaker 3: When I'm told I was told baby dog cannot come.
• 9:48
Speaker 5: Yeah, I guess somebody made a joke about it. Bertie
• 9:50
Speaker 5: Moreno made it, Bernie.
• 9:51
Speaker 7: But then apparently he like followed up with like no,
• 9:54
Speaker 7: but really, will she be there?
• 9:56
Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, we're But what about the Morrissey administration? You
• 9:59
Speaker 3: you anticipate that the governor like Morrisey will be somebody
• 10:02
  Speaker 3: more engaged.
• 10:03
Speaker 7: Oh, absolutely, yeah. I mean he works in the government,
• 10:05
Speaker 7: he shows up, he does his job. I think he'll
• 10:07
Speaker 7: absolutely be very engaged. Whether I like it or not
• 10:09
Speaker 7: remains to be seen. But I do think he'll be there,
• 10:12
Speaker 7: and I think he knows the legislative process. I mean,
• 10:14
Speaker 7: we went through eight years of justice where we got
• 10:17
Speaker 7: bills the very last day to get them from them,
• 10:20
Speaker 7: So I think that will be a very positive change.
• 10:23
Speaker 3: What are you anticipating What do you want to see
• 10:26
Speaker 3: get done? Obviously, foster care, the childcare crisis, crisises in general.
• 10:33
Speaker 3: What are some of the other things for the new
• 10:34
Speaker 3: session that you hope we'll get tackled.
• 10:36
Speaker 7: I hope we figure out something with Pia. I'm hearing
• 10:38
Speaker 7: from hundreds and hundreds of folks that they're very worried
• 10:41
Speaker 7: about their pea growing up. I know there's the road
• 10:43
Speaker 7: show going on this week where folks can listen, can
• 10:46
Speaker 7: show up and voice their concerns with the raising deductibles
• 10:48
Speaker 7: and premiums. So I know we had a bill on
• 10:50
Speaker 7: that a while ago. But I'm also hoping we just
• 10:53
Speaker 7: do a lot less social issues and a lot more
• 10:55
Speaker 7: actual helping folks and you know, focusing on things that
• 10:58
Speaker 7: make people's lives better, because we haven't done a lot
• 11:00
Speaker 7: of that in the past.
• 11:02
Speaker 3: Get Kaylee Young, congratulations again on your win. I want
• 11:04
Speaker 3: to give, as I do with all my candidates, I
• 11:06
Speaker 3: want to back away and give you a little bit
• 11:08
Speaker 3: of time to do all the thanking and the high
• 11:10
Speaker 3: fiving and whatever else you want to do during your time,
• 11:12
Speaker 3: because I know nobody is JV and Acres and I
• 11:15
Speaker 3: talked about this yesterday. Nobody nobody runs alone. If you're running,
• 11:18
Speaker 3: it involves spouses if you have them, It involves kids,
• 11:21
Speaker 3: and involves neighbors and friends and so on and so forth.
• 11:24
Speaker 3: So I'll give you an opportunity to thank whoever you want.
• 11:26
Speaker 7: I mean, I just want to thank the folks of
• 11:28
Speaker 7: Houses three fifty six and the folks all around the
• 11:30
Speaker 7: state and the country that helped me win my reelection.
• 11:33
Speaker 7: It certainly has never ever, ever done alone, and ever
• 11:36
Speaker 7: I can't do this by myself, and I'm just thankful
• 11:38
Speaker 7: to everyone who voted for me and who's taking a
• 11:41
Speaker 7: chance on me, regardless of who they vote for for president. Right.
• 11:44
Speaker 7: So I'm just excited to get back in there and
• 11:46
Speaker 7: keep bringing a lot of transparency and accountability to our government.
• 11:50
Speaker 3: All right, Well, we wish you the best. You're a
• 11:52
Speaker 3: frequent to flyer here on the show, so we'll have
• 11:55
Speaker 3: you on any time, anytime that you want. Do you
• 11:58
Speaker 3: like biscuits and gravy?
• 11:59
  Speaker 5: I love biscuits.
• 12:00
  Speaker 3: Did they bring an I don't know. I haven't seen
• 12:02
Speaker 3: one of the folks gonna be on was in the
• 12:04
Speaker 3: green room. I don't know that Joanna is here yet,
• 12:06
Speaker 3: but she's on our way. You're planning on coming to
• 12:07
Speaker 3: Capitol Market this Saturday.
• 12:08
Speaker 5: Probably, Yeah, there's going to be a Biscuits Day.
• 12:10
Speaker 3: It's the Biscuits and Gravy Bowl. They're calling it eight.
• 12:13
Speaker 3: It's a competition. It's just like the mac and cheese
• 12:15
Speaker 3: and like all these others. I'll learn more about it
• 12:17
Speaker 3: in the next segment. But it's all biscuits and gravy
• 12:20
Speaker 3: at Capitol Market eight thirty a m. On Saturday morning,
• 12:23
Speaker 3: I delegate, because somebody's got to step up to the plate.
• 12:26
Speaker 3: Have been asked to be a judge. That's a fun
• 12:29
Speaker 3: Biscuits and gravy. You know growing You know they get
• 12:31
Speaker 3: the kid from Logan that grew up Free Will Baptist.
• 12:33
Speaker 5: You know, you know what you're doing.
• 12:36
Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly right, I know what I'm doing. So hopefully
• 12:38
Speaker 3: I'll see you there as well. Okay, all right, Delegate
• 12:40
Speaker 3: Kaylee Young, but Dave Allen showing five any line brought
• 12:42
Speaker 3: to you a part by your hometown baseball team, the
• 12:44
Speaker 3: Charleston Dirty Birds. Here's something else I know you're excited about. Uh,
• 12:46
Speaker 3: the Selango Lull Light the night opens up Friday night ballpark. Yeah,
• 12:51
Speaker 3: they got a little VIP thing going tomorrow night and
• 12:53

Speaker 7: four people that just work there. It's the people that
• 13:53
Speaker 7: are controlling them, that are the administrators, that are the
• 13:55
Speaker 7: ones actually making these decisions.
• 13:57
Speaker 5: That's what it sounds like.
• 13:58
Speaker 7: It also sounds like we need to go back to
• 14:00
Speaker 7: three classes and not change the rules midway.
• 14:03
Speaker 5: I just feel bad for these kids.
• 14:05

Speaker 3: most have some ties to West Virginia, which means, what

Speaker 3: is it being from the South or Appalachia? You are
• 18:01
Speaker 3: born with the love for biscuits and gravy. This Saturday
• 18:04
Speaker 3: Capital Market, the love of biscuits and gravy will be celebrated.
• 18:07
Speaker 3: Tom mcveag and Joanna Romeo or some of the folks

Speaker 3: that having to organize the biscuits and gravy bowls Saturday
• 18:12
Speaker 3: morning Capital Market and they join us now. Joanna, I'll
• 18:15
Speaker 3: start with you, Good morning, welcome to the show. Good morning,
• 18:17
Speaker 3: Thank you for being here. Tom, good morning to you
• 18:19
  Speaker 3: as well.
• 18:19
  Speaker 10: Good morning.
• 18:20
Speaker 3: So I'll let either one. I'm you know, this very
• 18:22
Speaker 3: informal interview because my mind's on biscuits and gravy all
• 18:25
Speaker 3: right now, So what is it in your in your
• 18:28
Speaker 3: gays opinion that makes biscuits and gravy so popular? Just
• 18:33
Speaker 3: the I think the tradition, the comfort food comfort food,
• 18:37
Speaker 3: that's what that's the term. I was going to use
• 18:39
Speaker 3: Tom's comfort food because we all grew up with it,
• 18:41
Speaker 3: you know, and Joanna you would agree with that as well.
• 18:44
Speaker 11: Yeah, you had me at gravy.
• 18:45
Speaker 5: I mean that's where it sturts for me.
• 18:48
Speaker 3: You had me at gravy.
• 18:49
  Speaker 2: I like that.
• 18:50
Speaker 3: So what exactly is going to be going on at
• 18:51
Speaker 3: Capitol Market on Saturday morning? Starts at eight thirty give
• 18:54
  Speaker 3: us the rundown.
• 18:54
Speaker 11: Yeah, So it'll be from a thirty to ten forty
• 18:57
Speaker 11: five food taste scenes with nine different contenders. We have
• 19:00
Speaker 11: restaurants such as Bar one oh one, Bogies at the
• 19:03
Speaker 11: Capitol Island Food Shop, just to give you a few,
• 19:06
Speaker 11: and then we also have other groups participating, So there's
• 19:08
Speaker 11: gonna be more than just biscuits and gravy at this
• 19:10
  Speaker 11: event too.
• 19:11
Speaker 3: Now, will it be divided up or just how's the judging?
• 19:14
Speaker 3: Is it going to be an overall winner?
• 19:16
Speaker 2: Is there? Is it?
• 19:17
Speaker 3: Are you dividing up between the quote unquote amateurs and professionals?
• 19:20
Speaker 3: How does it work?
• 19:21
Speaker 11: So this year we're just going to do all one
• 19:23
Speaker 11: category and the judges are gonna have top two and
• 19:26
Speaker 11: then we're gonna have People's Choice Top three and Kids'
• 19:28
  Speaker 11: Choice Top three?
• 19:29
Speaker 3: So how will people take part in this is their
• 19:31
Speaker 3: ticketing process or how does that work?
• 19:33
Speaker 10: You know that when the folks come in, they'll buy
• 19:37
Speaker 10: a wristband and then they'll be able to go to
• 19:39
Speaker 10: all of the different vendors and as far as voting,
• 19:42
Speaker 10: they'll have a chip in their pocket and they'll be
• 19:45
Speaker 10: able to vote for the vendor of their choice.
• 19:48
Speaker 3: Okay, all right, and it's the first year for this,
• 19:51
Speaker 3: right correct, First, are whose idea was it? And how
• 19:54
Speaker 3: did this whole thing come about?
• 19:55
Speaker 5: So it was my idea.
• 19:56
Speaker 11: I'm from Ashland, Kentucky. So back in twenty nineteen, I
• 19:59
Speaker 11: participated it an event. I didn't have to work it,
• 20:01
Speaker 11: so I was like, oh, this is a great event
• 20:03
Speaker 11: and everybody loves breakfast feeds and I've been an event
• 20:06
Speaker 11: planning for seven years, so it's something I wanted to
• 20:08
Speaker 11: always kind of do and try out to you. So
• 20:09
Speaker 11: I'm like, you can't go wrong with fundraising and doing
• 20:11
  Speaker 11: biscuits and gravy.
• 20:12
Speaker 3: So roughly and again, we're on radio, so we're trying
• 20:15
Speaker 3: to get a mental picture here. When somebody buys their
• 20:17
Speaker 3: tickets or they get their chip, or whatever. I mean,
• 20:20
Speaker 3: what size serving are we talking here? Just like a
• 20:22
Speaker 3: sample size and then they can go to the different ones.
• 20:24
Speaker 3: How's that gonna be.
• 20:25
Speaker 11: Yeah, it's gonna be two ounce servings and so we're
• 20:28
Speaker 11: gonna be sorry. So they'll have nine different contenders to
• 20:32
Speaker 11: go and so vote that way with two ounces.
• 20:34
Speaker 3: Okay, okay again, it's all this. Saturday starts at eight thirty.

Speaker 3: disclosure here, guys, I was asked to be a judge
• 20:57
Speaker 3: in this competition. I've judged chili numerous times. I've judged
• 21:01
Speaker 3: mac and cheese over a Capital market, I've judged desserts.
• 21:05
Speaker 3: This is the first time I've ever judged a biscuits
• 21:07
  Speaker 3: and gravy competition.
• 21:08
  Speaker 10: Awesome.
• 21:10
Speaker 3: I'm excited to be here. I'm excited to be there.
• 21:11
Speaker 3: I'm I'm already training. I'm already planning it. Because the
• 21:14
Speaker 3: thing about about biscuits and gravy is there's so many
• 21:17
Speaker 3: It's just like any other food and apple. Actually, there's
• 21:19
Speaker 3: so many different ways to do it. Some people prefer
• 21:21
Speaker 3: the spicy or very very very peppery. Even the colors
• 21:25
Speaker 3: change because some of us the classic white gravy and
• 21:28
Speaker 3: some of it tends to be a little bit more brown.
• 21:30
Speaker 3: There's red eye gravy made with coffee grounds. I mean,
• 21:33
Speaker 3: there's so many different ways to do this.
• 21:37
Speaker 10: One of the unique things that we know one of
• 21:39
Speaker 10: the vendors is going to have is a chocolate gravy.
• 21:43
  Speaker 3: I've actually heard of that. I don't think I've ever
• 21:44
Speaker 3: had chocolate gravy. So, I mean, is it just as
• 21:46
Speaker 3: the name implies, Tom, it's just got chocolate in it,
• 21:49
Speaker 3: or it has chocolate.
• 21:50
Speaker 10: Now I don't know the ingredients, but it sounds interesting.
• 21:52
Speaker 3: Well, let's talk about the charitable aspect of this, because
• 21:56
Speaker 3: I mean, it's one thing to get all your friends
• 21:58
Speaker 3: together to eat biscuits and gravy. I mean, heck yeah,
• 21:59
Speaker 3: I'm okay, but this is a whole charitable thing that
• 22:03
Speaker 3: you're doing to raise a little money, talk about that.
• 22:06
Speaker 10: So we're raising funds to assist our church, Southward.
• 22:09
Speaker 3: Church, the south Ridge Church is name the church Okay,
• 22:11
  Speaker 3: go ahead.
• 22:12
Speaker 10: And it's to help us continue to provide and grow
• 22:15
Speaker 10: the ways that we serve the Canal Valley communities of
• 22:17
Speaker 10: the Canal Valley and we do a number of programs
• 22:20
Speaker 10: that we're involved with the Women's Addiction Recovery Center in Charleston.
• 22:24
Speaker 10: We provide meals for one hundred and twenty five plus
• 22:27
Speaker 10: families at Christmas for two weeks for those kids that
• 22:32
Speaker 10: otherwise may not have meals. So they're just some of
• 22:34
Speaker 10: the ways we call that impact schools. We also partner
• 22:37
Speaker 10: with the Bread of Life food pantry in Southridge, So
• 22:42
Speaker 10: there's some of the ministries that we And.
• 22:44
Speaker 11: One cool thing is game Day for University of Charleston.
• 22:46
Speaker 11: We provide meals for families and players on every home
• 22:49
Speaker 11: game and then we pack treat bags for away games too,
• 22:52
Speaker 11: So that's something cool we do.
• 22:53
Speaker 3: And this kind of of an event of this magnitude
• 22:56
Speaker 3: could not be done without sponsors. And I know you've
• 22:58
Speaker 3: got some sponsors here. If you got a list there,
• 23:00
Speaker 3: you might want to go and give and go ahead
• 23:01
Speaker 3: and give them a shout out.
• 23:02
Speaker 11: Yes, So we want to thank Berkshire Hathway Home Services,
• 23:05
Speaker 11: in COVID Insurance, ZMM Architect, ELK City Auto Camel Technologies,
• 23:11
Speaker 11: John Locks, Key lineex of Nitro, TJC, Rooffine, Warner Law Office, Depiro, Simmons, Soprani,
• 23:19
  Speaker 11: and Warner.
• 23:21
Speaker 5: So those are a list of our sponsors for this year.
• 23:23
Speaker 3: All right, and let's talk about you said you had
• 23:25
Speaker 3: some other vendors there. Get talk about some of the
• 23:27
Speaker 3: other vendors that are going to because there may be
• 23:29
Speaker 3: somebody that shows up at this thing, although I find
• 23:31
Speaker 3: this very hard to believe and they're probably godless communists
• 23:35
Speaker 3: that let's say I don't like biscuits and gravy. You
• 23:37
Speaker 3: got other things going on?
• 23:38
  Speaker 2: We do.
• 23:39
Speaker 5: So we have the Island Food Shop.
• 23:40
Speaker 11: We'll have a Jamaican style porridge there.
• 23:43
Speaker 3: Wait, porridge, Yes, Jamaican style porridge.
• 23:46
Speaker 10: Okay, I've never had it.
• 23:47
Speaker 3: I've never outside of the Three Bears or whatever it was,
• 23:50
Speaker 3: I've never had porridge either.
• 23:51
Speaker 12: So go ahead, and then Tom, you can talk about
• 23:54
Speaker 12: the one we have one that is what we call
• 23:58
Speaker 12: Church of Goot Potatoes or that is a kind of
• 24:02
Speaker 12: a hash brown casserole type.
• 24:06
Speaker 10: Food and it's very good. We've been using it for
• 24:09
  Speaker 10: quite a while.
• 24:10
  Speaker 4: I mean.
• 24:10
Speaker 11: And another one is Tickers and Timbers are bringing a
• 24:13
Speaker 11: charcooterie board, so she's gonna have a variety of different
• 24:15
  Speaker 11: breakfast sandpoints.
• 24:16
Speaker 3: Because he's gonna be like a breakfast theme board. Yeah,
• 24:18
Speaker 3: I mean, okay, well that's gonna be interesting to see.
• 24:21
Speaker 3: That's the thing about breakfast foods, man, there's just so
• 24:23
Speaker 3: many different different things that that you can you can do.
• 24:25
Speaker 3: And I'll tell a quick story. When I was in college,
• 24:28
Speaker 3: a friend of mine who was from Oklahoma, went to
• 24:30
Speaker 3: Marshall with me, and he came home with me for
• 24:33
Speaker 3: the for the weekend and my mother we were leaving
• 24:36
Speaker 3: on Sunday morning. My mother said, I'll get to make
• 24:38
Speaker 3: you guys a big breakfast. And my mother made you know,
• 24:41
Speaker 3: the traditional biscuits and gravy fored potatoes, but she also
• 24:44
Speaker 3: made eggs with pork chops. And my friend Mark, who
• 24:48
Speaker 3: you know, as I said, was from Oklahoma, you would
• 24:50
Speaker 3: think differences aren't that much. He's like, you're eating pork
• 24:53
Speaker 3: chops for breakfast. I was like, you should see when
• 24:54
Speaker 3: we have baloney for breakfast, you know, that's that's a
• 24:56
Speaker 3: southern West Virginian coming out with me. It's gonna be
• 24:59
Speaker 3: a lot of fun and against for a great, great cause. Again,
• 25:01
Speaker 3: explain the time, and of course it's all at Capital
• 25:04
Speaker 3: Market eight thirty am. I'm going to be there representing
• 25:07
Speaker 3: our sister station ninety eight seven of the Mountain. I'm
• 25:09
Speaker 3: going to be one of the judges. I'm looking forward
• 25:11
Speaker 3: to it, but just kind of give us the overall
• 25:12
Speaker 3: view of people are just tuned them.
• 25:15
Speaker 11: Yeah, so contenders will be setting up a seven thirty
• 25:18
Speaker 11: that morning, and then it'll start at eight thirty, and
• 25:21
Speaker 11: then at ten forty five we'll do the token counting
• 25:24
Speaker 11: and then between eleven and leven fifteen roun announce all
• 25:26
Speaker 11: the winners and then the it'll probably end around eleven thirty.
• 25:29
Speaker 3: Okay, And again because I know a lot of folks
• 25:31
Speaker 3: on Saturday got a lot of things to do that
• 25:33
Speaker 3: it's not going to take up your whole day either.
• 25:34
Speaker 3: You know, you can go enjoy some biscuits and gravy

• 30:01
Speaker 3: us on the show tomorrow for a little bit of
• 30:02
Speaker 3: a preview. Plus, we've all wondered what it's going to
• 30:05
Speaker 3: be like when Governor Jim Justice officially becomes Senator Jim
• 30:08
Speaker 3: Justice and he and baby dog head off to Washington.
• 30:10
Speaker 3: We learned yesterday apparently a baby dog. I'm sure we'll
• 30:14
Speaker 3: be there, but it's not going to be allowed apparently
• 30:17
Speaker 3: inside the Capitol. Well, a local person, Sarah O'Connor, has
• 30:21
Speaker 3: written a book about that very subject, about baby Dog
• 30:25
  Speaker 3: going to Washington, and it's a kid's book and it's
• 30:28
Speaker 3: for charity, but it's meant not so much from what
• 30:30
Speaker 3: I understand or reading the synopsis, not necessarily meant to
• 30:33
Speaker 3: talk about baby dog per se, but to teach kids
• 30:36
Speaker 3: about government and how government works and so on and
• 30:38
Speaker 3: so forth. So she's going to join us on the
• 30:39
Speaker 3: show tomorrow. Socomen Stephen Allen Adams of Ogden Newspaper, Stephen,
• 30:43
Speaker 3: good morning, So let's start. Letna start hot here. I'm
• 30:46
Speaker 3: gonna come off the top rope with this one. You
• 30:48
Speaker 3: tell me you make pretty mean biscuits and gravy.
• 30:51
Speaker 15: I well, I can't make biscuits to save my life.
• 30:53
Speaker 15: That's what Pillsbury is for. But my sausage gravy is excellent.
• 30:59
Speaker 3: Yes, yeah, I have to. I'll have to take you
• 31:02
Speaker 3: up on an offer you didn't offer, but well yeah,
• 31:04
Speaker 3: I think you just did uh at some point. All right,
• 31:07
Speaker 3: So there's a lot of things I want to talk
• 31:10
Speaker 3: to you about. You know, I was thinking about this yesterday.
• 31:14
Speaker 3: Someone who shall remain nameless, but someone who's known in
• 31:17
Speaker 3: political circles in West Virginia told me that we the
• 31:21
Speaker 3: people who cover this stuff, you I other, you know, Brad,
• 31:24
Speaker 3: that people that are that do and I don't necessarily
• 31:26
Speaker 3: cover it. I'm not a journalists like you. Guys do.
• 31:28
Speaker 3: But I come on the show and talk about it.
• 31:30
Speaker 3: We may be reading too much into the how focused
• 31:34
Speaker 3: will Jim Justice be in DC? Thing? Because truth be told,
• 31:37
Speaker 3: and I mentioned this with Delegate Young earlier, he really
• 31:40
Speaker 3: doesn't have to be there a lot. We're used to
• 31:44
Speaker 3: seeing a Joe Mansion or Robert Byrd back in the day,
• 31:46
Speaker 3: or Shelley Moore Capito being there pretty much all the time.
• 31:49
Speaker 3: I am told though, that Senator Justice can show up
• 31:52
Speaker 3: for a few votes and go back to Greenbrier County.
• 31:54
Speaker 3: I also told he's not going to be on any committees. Uh,
• 31:57
Speaker 3: And I guess we're just maybe used to seeing a
• 31:59
Speaker 3: mansion or a kind of being overachievers there. But it
• 32:02
Speaker 3: really doesn't have to be your thought.
• 32:04
  Speaker 15: Well, I think that's I think that's right. I mean again,
• 32:08
Speaker 15: I've shadowed both Senators Mansion and Capital around the Capitol.
• 32:11
Speaker 15: I know the schedules that they keep on a daily basis.
• 32:14
Speaker 3: I know who they meet with.
• 32:16
Speaker 15: I know they're running back and forth between the office
• 32:20
Speaker 15: buildings and the Capitol, the Senate Chamber all at You
• 32:23
Speaker 15: can do it that way, but that's just two people
• 32:27
Speaker 15: I followed. I don't know how every member of the
• 32:29
Speaker 15: US Senate operates, and I'm sure that there are some
• 32:31
Speaker 15: that aren't that hard hitting at all. I mean you
• 32:36
Speaker 15: could probably there are probably US senators you can think
• 32:40
Speaker 15: of or not think of right now, Like we hear
• 32:43
Speaker 15: the people that are most active, but there's US senators.
• 32:45
Speaker 15: I probably couldn't pick out a liance. Yeah, Jim Justice.
• 32:48
Speaker 15: I suspect it's going to be one of those. It's
• 32:50
Speaker 15: not that he's not going to do anything, but right
• 32:54
Speaker 15: he can show up for certain votes. I have a
• 32:57
Speaker 15: feeling he will be there for certainly the important key votes.
• 33:02
Speaker 15: We'll see if he's on committees or not. He had
• 33:04
Speaker 15: said that he wanted to basically be on the same
• 33:06
Speaker 15: committees that Mansion was on, which was Energy and also appropriations.
• 33:11
Speaker 15: Appropriations is pretty hard for a freshman senator to get on.
• 33:15
Speaker 3: That's the big dog is, they say, or at least
• 33:17
  Speaker 3: one of.
• 33:18
Speaker 15: That's right, like Senator Capito is on appropriate Appropriations and
• 33:21
Speaker 15: Manshin is too. That probably won't happen, but I do
• 33:24
Speaker 15: think that he can certainly still play a role in
• 33:28
Speaker 15: in voting and do what he needs to do in
• 33:30
Speaker 15: that regard, So I would say that's correct.
• 33:34
Speaker 3: I had Senator Capito on the show on Monday. And
• 33:37
Speaker 3: I don't know how he had her on last week,
• 33:38
Speaker 3: but she was on this show one Monday. And she's
• 33:40
Speaker 3: coming away with this, in this whole change up in
• 33:44
Speaker 3: the adding new people whatever, Stephen, She's she's coming away
• 33:47
Speaker 3: in a pretty good position. Here is Senator capitol.
• 33:49
Speaker 15: Oh, huge, huge position. I mean, not only is she
• 33:52
Speaker 15: going to get a major committee assignment, being chair of
• 33:56
Speaker 15: the Environment of Public Works Committee, which is she's been
• 33:59
Speaker 15: the ranking Republican for a long time, and she's had
• 34:01
Speaker 15: a pretty good collaborative relationship with the chairman Democratic chairman
• 34:05
Speaker 15: of that committee for some time, so she's gotten things
• 34:08
Speaker 15: done even as a Republican there. But yeah, huge, huge
• 34:11
Speaker 15: opportunity there. And as I've talked to her about this
• 34:16
Speaker 15: several times, but she is going to be number four
• 34:19
Speaker 15: in the leadership of the Republican majority. She's going to
• 34:22
Speaker 15: be chairing the major Senate Republican policy committee that's more
• 34:28
Speaker 15: or less a caucus committee, and that puts her in
• 34:32
Speaker 15: a really good position. She's someone that works really hard,
• 34:35
Speaker 15: she doesn't seek the limelight. She's very responsive to press,
• 34:38
Speaker 15: you know, I always like that sort of thing, and
• 34:42
Speaker 15: she brings back money and opportunities for the state of
• 34:45
Speaker 15: West Virginia, just like Senator Manchin has during his tenure
• 34:49
Speaker 15: in the US Senate. So she's got a really good
• 34:52
Speaker 15: opportunity to really help the state of West Virginia both
• 34:57
Speaker 15: leading a major committee and being in the leadership of
• 35:01
Speaker 15: the Senate Republican Caucus.
• 35:02
Speaker 3: Now, let's face it, when you're in Washington, Steven, I mean,
• 35:04
Speaker 3: you're gonna be asked to obviously to vote on a
• 35:06
Speaker 3: lot of important stuff. That's why you're there. But primarily,
• 35:09
Speaker 3: if somebody asks you what your main goal is, whether
• 35:12
Speaker 3: you're in the Senate or in the House or whatever,
• 35:14
Speaker 3: your main goal is to get money and get services
• 35:17
Speaker 3: and do good for your state. That's why you're there.
• 35:20
Speaker 3: That's why although people criticize Robert Bird, and they've criticized
• 35:23
Speaker 3: Mansion at time to time, and I don't care what
• 35:25
Speaker 3: the party is. That's your job is to get things
• 35:28
Speaker 3: back to West Virginia. That's why you're there.
• 35:30
Speaker 15: Oh, I mean, we can joke, and we do joke
• 35:32
Speaker 15: all the time about how many things are named after
• 35:34
Speaker 15: Robert C. Bird. We have a big statute form in
• 35:38
Speaker 15: the West Virginia legislature. They talk about removing it all
• 35:41
Speaker 15: the time. We'll see if that happens, but we can
• 35:44
  Speaker 15: joke about that.
• 35:44
  Speaker 10: But he delivered.
• 35:46
Speaker 15: Not only did he deliver, but he served in leadership
• 35:49
Speaker 15: roles majority leader, minority leader. I mean, he really did
• 35:54
Speaker 15: benefit the state of West Virginia during his time there.
• 36:00
Speaker 15: I think you can and keep in mind he was
• 36:02
Speaker 15: one of the low longest serving US senator in US history.
• 36:06
Speaker 15: Obviously Mansion is not going to reach that type of tenure,
• 36:09
Speaker 15: and I would imagine obviously Senator Capital isn't either. But
• 36:13
Speaker 15: they also have an opportunity to do similar things, and
• 36:16
Speaker 15: that's the goal. Yeah, you want to serve your country,
• 36:19
Speaker 15: but you're a representative for your district and you want
• 36:21
Speaker 15: to try to make deals with your fellow lawmakers that
• 36:24
Speaker 15: will benefit your state.
• 36:26
Speaker 3: Steven al Adams of Ogden Newspapers is here Older adults
• 36:29
Speaker 3: would protect themselves against severe respiratory disease. Talk to your
• 36:32
Speaker 3: doctor about flu, COVID nineteen and RSV vaccines risk less
• 36:35
Speaker 3: do more get started at vaccines dot gov. Paper by
• 36:38
Speaker 3: the US Department of Health and Human Services. All Right,
• 36:41
Speaker 3: so yesterday Steven Governor elect Morrissey current Attorney General now governor,
• 36:44
Speaker 3: like Morrissey had a presser to discuss the folks that
• 36:47
Speaker 3: will lead him into the governor's office, the transition team,
• 36:50
Speaker 3: if you will, what can you tell us?
• 36:52
  Speaker 8: Oh?
• 36:52
Speaker 10: Sure, I kind of got a preview of this.
• 36:54
Speaker 15: I had a good conversation with Governor elect Morrissey Friday
• 36:58
Speaker 15: in anticipation of this conference that they did yesterday morning.
• 37:03
Speaker 15: So they've announced their transition leaders co leaders, which includes
• 37:07
Speaker 15: a number of people that you're going to recognize, such
• 37:09
Speaker 15: as House Majority Leader, a householder he ran for Republican
• 37:13
Speaker 15: state auditor, lost that race, but has a lot of
• 37:16
Speaker 15: experience in the legislature, including on the Finance Committee. Conrad Lucas,
• 37:21
Speaker 15: the former chairman of the State Republican Party now a
• 37:24
Speaker 15: very active lobbyist. He's going to be on there. Doug Buffington,
• 37:29
Speaker 15: who's been a Deputy Attorney General, also a former staff
• 37:32
Speaker 15: member and in the Department of Revenue, State Department of Revenue.
• 37:35
Speaker 15: So those are just a few of the names that
• 37:37
Speaker 15: are going to be on that leadership team. Now, they're
• 37:39
Speaker 15: going to put together landing teams to start looking at
• 37:42
Speaker 15: public policy issues. These landing teams will also look at
• 37:46
Speaker 15: state departments and agencies and how they can be changed
• 37:50
Speaker 15: or updated and that.
• 37:51
  Speaker 3: Sort of thing.
• 37:53
Speaker 15: They're going to announce department heads, governor appointments, that sort
• 37:57
Speaker 15: of thing over the next less than two months. And
• 38:02
Speaker 15: on top of that, they want to have an ambitious
• 38:04
Speaker 15: public policy legislative agenda for the first one hundred days
• 38:09
Speaker 15: when the legislature ultimately meets in February, so they they
• 38:12
Speaker 15: are going to make some substantial changes to how state
• 38:16
Speaker 15: government operates. So it's a very ambitious schedule. But you
• 38:20
Speaker 15: know Morrissey and you've covered him and talked to him.
• 38:22
  Speaker 15: I mean, he he's a hard charging guy and I
• 38:26
Speaker 15: imagine he'll be able to do a lot of what
• 38:28
Speaker 15: he says he wants to do that.
• 38:30
Speaker 3: And you know a lot of people have asked me
• 38:32
Speaker 3: what I thought of morrissey administration was going to look like,
• 38:35
Speaker 3: and I'll say this, a lot of it in my opinion,
• 38:37
Speaker 3: and you can agree or disagree. Stephen has to do
• 38:39
Speaker 3: with who the new Senate president is. I know, I
• 38:41
Speaker 3: think you're going to go on with Hoppy to talk
• 38:43
Speaker 3: about that a little bit later on, so I won't
• 38:44
Speaker 3: get too much into that. But if it is Senate
• 38:46
Speaker 3: Finance Chair Eric tar As, many as many people have
• 38:49
Speaker 3: said that they would like it to be or think
• 38:51
Speaker 3: that it might be either way. And I'm not talking
• 38:55
Speaker 3: out of school here, and I mean this with the
• 38:57
Speaker 3: most with the utmost respect, but by their own admission,
• 39:00
Speaker 3: I mean both these two guys I'm talking about morris
• 39:02
Speaker 3: They and tar are very headstrong personalities. And Morrissey is
• 39:06
Speaker 3: someone who's used to getting his way by the mere
• 39:10
Speaker 3: nature of him being the head of the Attorney General's office.
• 39:13
Speaker 3: At the end of the day, it's his name on
• 39:14
Speaker 3: the outside of the office. And although I'm sure he
• 39:17
Speaker 3: took input as all state agencies do in the day,
• 39:20
Speaker 3: he makes the ultimate decision. It's not that way though,
• 39:22
  Speaker 3: when you're governor.
• 39:23
Speaker 15: Well that's right, But I think the difference is going
• 39:26
Speaker 15: to be you're going to see Morrissey, I think, operate
• 39:28
Speaker 15: very similar to how Mansion operator when he was governor.
• 39:31
Speaker 15: I think he's going to be very hands on. He's
• 39:33
Speaker 15: going to be present. He's going to be in the
• 39:35
Speaker 15: Governor's mansion, I would imagine, and he's going to be
• 39:38
Speaker 15: having meetings with legislative leaders and he's going to be
• 39:42
Speaker 15: working his agenda constantly during the legislative session. He's not
• 39:46
Speaker 15: going off to coach basketball. He is going to be
• 39:49
Speaker 15: there and work this sort of stuff. So that might
• 39:53
Speaker 15: mean he doesn't get everything he wants, but it certainly
• 39:56
Speaker 15: means that he can at least negotiate some compromises on
• 40:00
Speaker 15: on agenda items and work. Now said, he's already talking
• 40:03
Speaker 15: to legislative leaders on these issues. He's going to have
• 40:05
Speaker 15: cooperation of other members of the Border Public Works. This
• 40:09
Speaker 15: is going to be probably the most collaborative group of
• 40:13
  Speaker 15: people I think we've seen, because I don't think we've
• 40:15
Speaker 15: ever really seen that between the legislature and the governor,
• 40:18
Speaker 15: or even members of the bard of Public Works and
• 40:20
Speaker 15: the governor too. I think there's been some stress there
• 40:23
Speaker 15: over the last eight years. I think this is going
• 40:25
Speaker 15: to be different. So are there going to be policy differences,
• 40:28
Speaker 15: for sure, but I think there are things that could
• 40:31
Speaker 15: be worked out, and more so, he's going to work that.
• 40:33
Speaker 3: Talking to Steve and Allen Adams text says they're all
• 40:36
Speaker 3: never okay, this is kind of funny. There will never
• 40:38
Speaker 3: be a moment when we can't pick Jim Justice out
• 40:40
  Speaker 3: of a lineup. I think that. I think that's fairpoint
• 40:43
Speaker 3: texture Texas says, get money, get services, and do stuff
• 40:46
Speaker 3: for the state. What has Shelley Moore Capito been doing
• 40:49
Speaker 3: for twenty years as Westford and inspired to the bottom
• 40:52
  Speaker 3: of everything?
• 40:53
Speaker 15: Well, particularly the last couple of years. She negotiated the
• 40:57
Speaker 15: Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which is bringing a lot
• 41:02
Speaker 15: of money and investment to the state. Particularly with broadband.
• 41:05
Speaker 15: You're going to start seeing companies really get the work
• 41:08
Speaker 15: on that now that some of the red tape that
• 41:10
Speaker 15: has been put in place by the Biden administration, I
• 41:12
Speaker 15: think it has been cut through, So I think you're
• 41:15
Speaker 15: going to start to see some fiber get installed. She's
• 41:18
Speaker 15: done a lot of things when it comes to appropriations,
• 41:21
Speaker 15: when it comes to investment in transportation and infrastructure, which
• 41:25
Speaker 15: is a big thing that her committee specifically does. They
• 41:28
Speaker 15: do to transportation funding bill every year. So I think
• 41:33
Speaker 15: that there is a good deal that's been done under
• 41:36
  Speaker 15: Senator Capito.
• 41:38
Speaker 3: But Dave Allen showing five any Lie Brown to part
• 41:39

• 41:42
Speaker 3: you're injured, visit for the people dot com. So what
• 41:44
Speaker 3: are you working on today, Steven.
• 41:46
Speaker 15: Well, we got state school Board meeting in here at
• 41:49
Speaker 15: ten o'clock, so we'll see what they have to say.
• 41:52
Speaker 15: They actually have an agenda item on there dealing with
• 41:55
Speaker 15: the West Virginia Secretary School Activities Commissioned. So I don't
• 41:58
Speaker 15: know if they'll get into some of these issues that
• 42:02
Speaker 15: we see going across with the high school football playoffs
• 42:06
Speaker 15: or anything like that. So we're monitoring that, and they're
• 42:08
Speaker 15: going to be dealing with some school safety issues, which
• 42:12
Speaker 15: will be interested in giving some of the reports that
• 42:14
Speaker 15: we saw from the legislative Interim Sunday in regards to
• 42:17
Speaker 15: how much money that they need to do some of
• 42:19
Speaker 15: these school safety and issues they want to do. So
• 42:21
Speaker 15: a lot of interesting stuff.
• 42:22
Speaker 3: And people can read your stuff where Parkersburg.

• 45:34
Speaker 3: lot from the last couple of days, but never we've
• 45:37
Speaker 3: just said like that, never too much, Uncle Fred. Uh
• 45:40
Speaker 3: you know you know I sent delicate Kaylee Young down
• 45:43
Speaker 3: to your office before she went on the air with
• 45:44
Speaker 3: me today because I saw she had posted on social media.
• 45:46
Speaker 3: Can someone explain this all to me? I said, the
• 45:49
Speaker 3: guy that's got it. We got a few, you know,
• 45:51
Speaker 3: Joe Bricado and Travis Jones, and Travis will be on
• 45:53
Speaker 3: with the Hobby to give his take coming up. I
• 45:55
Speaker 3: think it's the top of the hour. I said, go
• 45:57
Speaker 3: see Fred, because Fred's got this all taking care of. Yeah, right,
• 46:01
Speaker 3: I got it, write down.
• 46:02
Speaker 4: I mean, just ask me any question you want about.
• 46:05
Speaker 3: Ink's not dry on the notes that you just took
• 46:07
Speaker 3: five minutes second, right, all right, So what's what's the latest?
• 46:10
Speaker 4: Well, the latest is, of course, everyone knows by now
• 46:12
Speaker 4: that the playoffs have been suspended or postponed rather for
• 46:16
Speaker 4: at least one week. And I think, here again, I
• 46:19
Speaker 4: put myself out on the limbit. I think that we'll
• 46:21
Speaker 4: get back to playing football next week.
• 46:23
Speaker 3: You think so, well.
• 46:24
Speaker 4: I think cooler heads will prevail when they get to
• 46:27
Speaker 4: the higher court and they understand that it's still good.
• 46:30
Speaker 4: It has to be about the kids sooner or later.
• 46:33
Speaker 4: And if you keep postponing it, you're not going to
• 46:36
Speaker 4: be about the kids anymore. Because there's a lot of
• 46:38
Speaker 4: things that cannot continue to be delayed. You've got I
• 46:42
Speaker 4: think the number one thing for boys football is you've
• 46:45
Speaker 4: got so many kids, particularly in smaller schools, that have
• 46:48
Speaker 4: to play both ways as far as football and basketball
• 46:51
Speaker 4: and baseball. Well, basketball practice for boys starts Monday, and
• 46:56
Speaker 4: if you're still playing in the first round of the
• 46:58
Speaker 4: playoffs and you're decent, that means you're going to miss
• 47:01
Speaker 4: the entire first month of practice and probably a few
• 47:05
Speaker 4: games if it keeps going.
• 47:06
Speaker 3: And that first month, and any coach will tell you
• 47:08
Speaker 3: that first month the preseason.
• 47:10
Speaker 4: Is critical, so important, so very important, you know, to
• 47:12
Speaker 4: get the chemistry of the team together and everything. So again,
• 47:15
Speaker 4: I honestly think cooler heads will prevail. They'll get found
• 47:19
Speaker 4: down to saying, hey, the kids are what we should
• 47:21
Speaker 4: be about. Let's get this thing settled. I think it
• 47:24
Speaker 4: gets to the State Supreme Court. State Supreme Court is
• 47:26
Speaker 4: going to say, hey, Ssac, run your thing, do your thing,
• 47:30
Speaker 4: because that's what they've said in the past.
• 47:32
  Speaker 14: Do your thing.
• 47:34
Speaker 4: The intermediate court really doesn't have anything to do with it.
• 47:37
Speaker 3: You mentioned Kayla is talking with her and.
• 47:39
Speaker 4: She agrees stay out of it. We talked about the
• 47:43
Speaker 4: transfer portal for a few minutes. She said, it's some
• 47:45
Speaker 4: of the craziest thing in the world. The legislature should
• 47:48
Speaker 4: never have gotten involved.
• 47:49
  Speaker 2: So true.
• 47:50
Speaker 4: And I think now we're at that point where everyone
• 47:54
Speaker 4: should just step back and say, hey, the ratings are.
• 47:57
  Speaker 3: What they are.
• 47:58
Speaker 4: And it's just like if in college football, I'm team
• 48:02
Speaker 4: number thirteen out of this twelve team playoff and I
• 48:06
Speaker 4: don't like it. Why am I going to do to
• 48:08
Speaker 4: get an injunction crazy?
• 48:10
Speaker 3: Well, and as I said yesterday, you know where does
• 48:13
  Speaker 3: it stop. I mean, I think you're you're setting, as
• 48:16
Speaker 3: Speedy Bevan's pointed out to me in a conversation he
• 48:18
Speaker 3: and I had yesterday, you're setting a very dangerous precedence.
• 48:22
Speaker 3: And I'm not saying that the courts haven't been involved
• 48:24
Speaker 3: in various high school things over the years, but not
• 48:26
Speaker 3: to this extent. And as somebody who covers this, I
• 48:30
Speaker 3: saw that they tweeted out that never in their years
• 48:31
Speaker 3: did they ever think they would see something like this
• 48:34
Speaker 3: when playoffs would be And again, you know, you can say, like, well,
• 48:37
Speaker 3: there's sports, you know nobody, I mean, there's more important
• 48:40
Speaker 3: things to worry about. It's not just about sports. This
• 48:42
Speaker 3: is kind of a personification for a lot of other things.
• 48:46
Speaker 3: And I'll go ahead and say this. I won't make
• 48:48
Speaker 3: you say it. You talked about the transfer portal, right,
• 48:51
Speaker 3: and I'll say this about the Republican Party in West Virginia.
• 48:55
Speaker 3: For a group that for many, many years said stay
• 48:58
Speaker 3: out of people's lives, they've gotten involved in some people's lives.
• 49:02
Speaker 3: I don't expect you to comment on that. That's my job.
• 49:04
Speaker 3: But still, you know, I think I think if you
• 49:07
Speaker 3: just let the kids play, and you just let the
• 49:09
Speaker 3: coaches do what they do and get everybody else the
• 49:12
Speaker 3: hell out of it, I think it would be a
• 49:13
  Speaker 3: whole lot better.
• 49:14
Speaker 4: Like I said yesterday up on your program, is the
• 49:16
Speaker 4: fact that the kids don't care about all this nonsense.
• 49:19
  Speaker 10: They really don't.
• 49:20
Speaker 4: They just want to play. Tell me where, tell me
• 49:22
Speaker 4: when let's go to spot the ball, as they say,
• 49:24
Speaker 4: spot the ballot the ball, let's go, let's get it underway,
• 49:26
Speaker 4: and if it's somebody that they're not supposed to beat,
• 49:30
  Speaker 4: we'll play.
• 49:30
Speaker 3: And find out what happened. They won't because this is
• 49:32
Speaker 3: not baseball. It's not a seven game series. You know
• 49:34
Speaker 3: you're going to play one time and the week teams
• 49:37
Speaker 3: are going to be except for a few upsots here
• 49:39
Speaker 3: and there, the week, teams are going to be weeded out.
• 49:42
Speaker 3: So your your take on Fred, is that they'll obviously
• 49:45
Speaker 3: it was announcer not playing this wee right exactly, So
• 49:47
Speaker 3: it'll head to Supreme Court next week.
• 49:49
Speaker 4: I don't I think it'll go sooner than that. Okay, okay, okay,
• 49:52
Speaker 4: because there's still a lot of things that have to
• 49:53
Speaker 4: be done. You have to get settled in as far
• 49:55
Speaker 4: as which set of ratings are they going to use?
• 49:58
Speaker 4: The ones that were pre reclassification of all the teams
• 50:01
Speaker 4: are the ones that they've been playing under all year long.
• 50:04
Speaker 4: I personally think that's the set of ratings they'll go with.
• 50:07
Speaker 4: And the teams that got in with the three and
• 50:10
Speaker 4: seven records they're going to get out real quick.
• 50:13
Speaker 3: Dave aalenowing five eighty line broad to part by Husband's
• 50:16
Speaker 3: Pizza this month that your favorite hustands get a large
• 50:18
Speaker 3: atennch Pepperoni pizza and a Pizza da only twenty one
• 50:20
Speaker 3: ninety nine. Let me close with this with you, Fred,
• 50:23
Speaker 3: Is it possible? Is it that a lot of this
• 50:26
Speaker 3: stuff could have been avoided if we did not go
• 50:28
Speaker 3: to a four class system. I mean, this is this
• 50:31
Speaker 3: is kind of an indicative of that decision in my opinion,
• 50:36
Speaker 3: which was a I don't follow this as closely as
• 50:38
Speaker 3: you and others do, but was was a bad decision
• 50:41
Speaker 3: to begin with to go to four classes.
• 50:43
Speaker 4: Particularly in football, because football is not The playoffs in
• 50:46
Speaker 4: football are different than the playoffs in any other those sports.
• 50:49
Speaker 4: You have tournaments that get you into the championship. Not
• 50:53
Speaker 4: in football. It's all based on points that are awarded
• 50:55
Speaker 4: throughout the season. So yeah, if you were still double
• 50:58
  Speaker 4: A A single A, we'll be playing football tomorrow night,
• 51:01
Speaker 4: all right, and tonight's Thursday, Friday night whatever it is whatever,
• 51:04
Speaker 4: we don't even know anymore in April, and be here
• 51:06
Speaker 4: in spring break, all right.
• 51:07
Speaker 3: So we got the high school sports line, we do.
• 51:09
Speaker 3: We have high school sports line tonight and anything to
• 51:12
  Speaker 3: talk about.
• 51:13
Speaker 4: Well, Wayne Ryan is coming in right at the start,
• 51:15
Speaker 4: and then we're gonna get into some coaches, because coaches
• 51:18
Speaker 4: that we know we're going to be in the playoffs.
• 51:20
Speaker 4: I've got Keith Taylor on from Princeton, that's their ten
• 51:23
Speaker 4: and zero. We've got Devon Marian on from Oak Hill.
• 51:26
Speaker 4: They've had a great, great season, this year, so they'll
• 51:29
Speaker 4: be on with us and then the other hour. I
• 51:31
Speaker 4: take care of the first hour and Joe Bricotta takes
• 51:33
Speaker 4: care of the second hour, and I don't know what's
• 51:34
Speaker 4: on the second hour yet. But we will have Game
• 51:37
Speaker 4: Night Friday night. Yes, no scores, no scores.
• 51:41
Speaker 3: Game the best of Game Night. We're gonna go back
• 51:43
Speaker 3: to nineteen seventy six, so we're gonna recount all and
• 51:45
Speaker 3: we bring Speedy in for that, and we'll go back
• 51:47
Speaker 3: to nineteen seventy six. We're going to recap all the
• 51:49
Speaker 3: scores from nineteen seventy six.
• 51:51
Speaker 4: There are games that there's a game somebody suggested it
• 51:53
Speaker 4: Dave and I get involved in, and I've really forgotten
• 51:55
Speaker 4: the name of the game, but it might be a
• 51:56
Speaker 4: good time this Friday night to do it.
• 51:57
Speaker 3: There you go, all right, Fred, appreciate you help man.
• 52:00

Speaker 3: i'll have you on tomorrow. I need the money man. Yes, well,
