- 0:20Speaker 1: All right, well then let's get started. What's going on? Everybody?
- 0:23Speaker 1: I'm the one, the only, the w o o kay.
- 0:25Speaker 1: I e about nineteen misfits short this week, but in
- 0:30Speaker 1: their place I brought Pete. Pete's just you and me, Bud.
- 0:34Speaker 2: Yes, sir, I'll be playing the part of doctor Sheep
- 0:36Speaker 2: and you walk and.
- 0:37Speaker 1: Walk and Draz. I'm gonna need you to play all
- 0:40Speaker 1: those multiple personalities at the same time. You can you
- 0:45Speaker 1: can you handle it? I'm gonna need you to grumble
- 0:46Speaker 1: a little bit and then do somer.
- 0:51Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 0:51Speaker 1: I guess that's my drazcore.
- 0:53Speaker 3: Laugh.
- 0:54Speaker 1: But one of the things we did in Saint Louis
- 0:57Speaker 1: is we drafted, and I figured better to bring on
- 1:02Speaker 1: than the person who invented it? Your your lead tournament?
- 1:08Speaker 3: What are you?
- 1:08Speaker 1: You're not the organizer, You're the head judge, right, You're
- 1:11Speaker 1: the marshall.
- 1:14Speaker 3: Josh is the Marshall. But I am the head judge judge.
- 1:18Speaker 3: When they feel like making me the head judge.
- 1:20Speaker 1: Well you know him, you love him. It's Marcus. He
- 1:22Speaker 1: invented draft.
- 1:24Speaker 3: Hey, how's it going.
- 1:26Speaker 1: I I gotta say I was I didn't know how
- 1:29Speaker 1: I felt going into draft. I figured i'd kind of
- 1:32Speaker 1: like it, and it was going to scratch an itch
- 1:34Speaker 1: for me that I'd have for a long time, but
- 1:37Speaker 1: getting into draft besides for having flaming Hobo to my right,
- 1:44Speaker 1: everything else was absolutely stellar. Oh my goodness, was this
- 1:48Speaker 1: everything I wanted it to be? In more?
- 1:51Speaker 3: How I was first in coming around with this idea
- 1:54Speaker 3: just it was trying to scratch a lot of those itches,
- 1:57Speaker 3: just to like in a limited format, to be able
- 1:59Speaker 3: to have ways to have a different way of playing
- 2:02Speaker 3: some keyboards.
- 2:04Speaker 1: Yeah, how how long did you work on this? Because
- 2:07Speaker 1: I know i'd I had tried to come up with
- 2:09Speaker 1: some ideas and then like at a certain point, I
- 2:12Speaker 1: was just like, I give up. I'm just walking away
- 2:14Speaker 1: from ever touching this ever again.
- 2:18Speaker 3: So I've probably been working on it for about six
- 2:21Speaker 3: months in one form or another. I got to see
- 2:28Speaker 3: people playing, people talking about cube drafting, and I got
- 2:33Speaker 3: to experience it myself with Panics Cube, which is pretty
- 2:37Speaker 3: awesome if you ever get the chance to be able
- 2:38Speaker 3: to go and play it. He's put together a really
- 2:40Speaker 3: fun experience. His cube is obviously a cur rated cube
- 2:45Speaker 3: that you're going to choose a number of how you're
- 2:48Speaker 3: gonna choose one house to stick in the mix, and
- 2:50Speaker 3: then you're gonna get a whole bunch of cards from
- 2:52Speaker 3: a whole bunch of different sets. And when I got
- 2:55Speaker 3: to play that, I was like, oh, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 2:59Speaker 3: this this this is something you know, this is something here.
- 3:01Speaker 3: I have played cube before, way back when, but it
- 3:05Speaker 3: had been a long time since I had ventured down
- 3:09Speaker 3: the cube rout or even tried to put one together.
- 3:11Speaker 3: And I know there are a couple of them floating around,
- 3:14Speaker 3: but I really feel like once Alliance got people thinking
- 3:18Speaker 3: about crafting stuff, that that kind of rejuvenated the desire
- 3:24Speaker 3: to have something like a cube. So but then I
- 3:28Speaker 3: wanted to do something a little different, and I said, well,
- 3:30Speaker 3: what what are the options here? What's what's one of
- 3:33Speaker 3: the things that I would like to see in an option?
- 3:35Speaker 3: And I always loved like traditional drafting of games. We
- 3:40Speaker 3: used to play a lot of obviously Magic way back
- 3:43Speaker 3: in the day, way way way back in the day,
- 3:45Speaker 3: but things like Star Wars Destiny we would draft all
- 3:48Speaker 3: the time, and we always had a blast with it
- 3:52Speaker 3: because it kind of scratches a little bit of the
- 3:53Speaker 3: deck building and the craft scratches a little bit of
- 3:56Speaker 3: the sealed aspect of it. So that was the impetus
- 4:00Speaker 3: behind creating the pack draft, and I really wanted to
- 4:04Speaker 3: kind of make something new for people to get excited about,
- 4:08Speaker 3: and especialty in conjunction with the side of it action
- 4:12Speaker 3: that was that really kind of pushed it along. I
- 4:14Speaker 3: had been kind of pushing it in the tooling with
- 4:16Speaker 3: it in the background, did a couple of test drafts,
- 4:18Speaker 3: and then once I was made aware of the fact
- 4:22Speaker 3: that there was going to be side events, I went
- 4:24Speaker 3: went hole boor for it.
- 4:26Speaker 1: So for me, I guess my biggest question for the
- 4:30Speaker 1: draft aspect of it was obviously right now it's all
- 4:35Speaker 1: draconian measures, is that that's pretty much what you're drafting.
- 4:39Speaker 1: But when it comes down to it, how okay? So
- 4:44Speaker 1: the biggest question mark I had was how you know
- 4:48Speaker 1: cause you get and I guess I didn't understand it
- 4:50Speaker 1: going in either, was you you picked three houses? So
- 4:55Speaker 1: I started for I'm sorry, you know, when we started,
- 4:57Speaker 1: You're like, write four houses down, and I'm like, okay,
- 5:00Speaker 1: I'm going to write four houses down. And my understanding
- 5:03Speaker 1: was these are the houses I want? And then do
- 5:06Speaker 1: you you put players in with what similar wants? When
- 5:11Speaker 1: you created.
- 5:13Speaker 3: Yeah, so uh when so for the drac chronic measures,
- 5:17Speaker 3: there's tube over over arcing like group of pack draft packs. Uh,
- 5:23Speaker 3: there is enough I have created curated enough to allow
- 5:29Speaker 3: for sixty four players to be able to play simultaneously,
- 5:35Speaker 3: each choosing the exact same four houses. So basically I
- 5:38Speaker 3: have sixty four packs of every single house. Each one
- 5:44Speaker 3: of those packs is fifteen cards and includes anywhere from
- 5:49Speaker 3: so like the way that inside those packs, I what
- 5:52Speaker 3: I The first thing I do is I thill out
- 5:55Speaker 3: all the procedurally generated cards and I make sure that
- 5:59Speaker 3: they are pair with the ones that normally come with
- 6:03Speaker 3: procedurally generated so that you're getting very similar to experience
- 6:07Speaker 3: had you opened a deck. And also I just want
- 6:11Speaker 3: to make sure that there's that synergy of being able
- 6:13Speaker 3: to get oh I have a subtle chain and a
- 6:16Speaker 3: chain gang. You know. I want to make sure that
- 6:18Speaker 3: that is that's in your options to do that. So
- 6:21Speaker 3: when you come, you pick four houses, and it can
- 6:26Speaker 3: be any of the houses in that set, and so
- 6:29Speaker 3: there's fifteen cards of each house. That is what you
- 6:33Speaker 3: are contributing to the draft pool, and everybody around the table,
- 6:39Speaker 3: whether it's four or eight players, you can do it.
- 6:41Speaker 3: With six as well, So any even number is the
- 6:44Speaker 3: best way to do it. You're going to basically take
- 6:46Speaker 3: all those things. You're going to take all those packs,
- 6:49Speaker 3: and they're going to go into that draft pool. The
- 6:52Speaker 3: drafting is done, as you remember, in two rounds. There's
- 6:56Speaker 3: an A round in a B round. I take two
- 6:59Speaker 3: of your packs every single player, and then I mix
- 7:04Speaker 3: them all up. Not mix them all, I just basically
- 7:06Speaker 3: deal them all out to a number of players. So
- 7:09Speaker 3: I'll go and if there's eight players, I'll just go
- 7:11Speaker 3: right down the line. I'll go one, two, three, four, five, six,
- 7:13Speaker 3: seven eight, one two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight,
- 7:16Speaker 3: until I have gone through all of the sixteen packs
- 7:21Speaker 3: that have been put in the first round. So what
- 7:24Speaker 3: that leaves you with is eight what I call draft sets.
- 7:30Speaker 3: In a draft set is what you're going to actually
- 7:32Speaker 3: pick up and start drafting with. So there's one for
- 7:35Speaker 3: every player in each of the A round and the
- 7:38Speaker 3: B round. And so when you're done of the A round,
- 7:44Speaker 3: you will have thirty cards, and when you're done with
- 7:46Speaker 3: the B round, you will have an additional thirty cards.
- 7:49Speaker 3: And each player has contributed two of their house packs
- 7:53Speaker 3: to each of them, so one of the other things
- 7:56Speaker 3: that we as you remember, I told everybody what are
- 8:02Speaker 3: the Basically I told you what houses are in each
- 8:05Speaker 3: of the pools.
- 8:07Speaker 1: I believe because how many cards of each house were
- 8:10Speaker 1: in each pack, or.
- 8:11Speaker 3: Well how many house packs or in each one. So
- 8:13Speaker 3: basically it's however many packs of fifteen cards? So if
- 8:17Speaker 3: I told you there's three, you knew that there was
- 8:19Speaker 3: going to be forty five cards of Skyboard in that
- 8:22Speaker 3: particular house. And what that really makes is that it
- 8:28Speaker 3: makes a very cohesive and interesting draft mechanical. It took
- 8:33Speaker 3: me a long time to get to that number, because
- 8:38Speaker 3: if you are familiar with draft hate, drafting is a thing,
- 8:42Speaker 3: and it should be it should be part of it.
- 8:43Speaker 3: It's I'm making a sacrifice of choosing a card that
- 8:47Speaker 3: I might want in order to make sure that the
- 8:51Speaker 3: redline rotation that just got passed to me does not
- 8:54Speaker 3: get passed to the person next to me, who I
- 8:56Speaker 3: think is collecting sky one. Even though I'm not see
- 8:59Speaker 3: it again, you never have to see it again, and
- 9:02Speaker 3: there's a beauty in that. It's like sometimes you sit
- 9:04Speaker 3: there and go, okay, which is better, you know, taking
- 9:09Speaker 3: something from someone who is going to put it to
- 9:10Speaker 3: really good use and you might get a mediocre card
- 9:13Speaker 3: or an okay card, or do you just stick with
- 9:16Speaker 3: it and go there's a better card. And that's part
- 9:18Speaker 3: of the interesting thing about draft is Draft is a
- 9:21Speaker 3: lot of choices and his choices in the moment, and
- 9:24Speaker 3: you don't really know until every single one of the
- 9:28Speaker 3: packs has got around to you. Like kind of what's
- 9:30Speaker 3: in the thing, the fact that the procedure really generated
- 9:34Speaker 3: cards are in it as like, so if you see
- 9:37Speaker 3: one half of a gigantic or the fetch card for
- 9:39Speaker 3: a Gigantic, you are absolutely going to see the other
- 9:42Speaker 3: two parts in there. They're somewhere. They may never get
- 9:45Speaker 3: pass to you, but there's somewhere in there, so if
- 9:48Speaker 3: you want to try and reunite that synergy. And that's
- 9:51Speaker 3: also when you get handed your draft set. So it's
- 9:56Speaker 3: thirty cards in the first piece, you get to pick
- 9:59Speaker 3: it up. Everybody picks u it up. First round. You're
- 10:01Speaker 3: going to pass to the left. But before you pass
- 10:03Speaker 3: the left, you're choosing not one card. Like a lot
- 10:06Speaker 3: of standard drafts alike magic pack draft, you crack open
- 10:10Speaker 3: a boost pack, most of the time you're just taking
- 10:12Speaker 3: one card. You're passing passing the pack on this one
- 10:15Speaker 3: in an effort to give you some more agency. Uh,
- 10:20Speaker 3: you pick three cards, and so by picking three cards,
- 10:24Speaker 3: if two halves of a gigantic er in there, you
- 10:26Speaker 3: can get them. And they may they may end up
- 10:29Speaker 3: being that way based on the way that I built
- 10:31Speaker 3: the draft sets. So uh. But yeah, so like when
- 10:35Speaker 3: I took when you guys showed out at Saint Louis,
- 10:37Speaker 3: I took everybody that was there, took all those packs, uh,
- 10:41Speaker 3: and I had packs pre made ready to go for
- 10:44Speaker 3: all of those things. I combined them up, I dealt
- 10:46Speaker 3: them out, and then I gave them to your pack
- 10:49Speaker 3: leader or your pod leader, and you guys went about
- 10:53Speaker 3: your merry way drafting. Once you get done with the
- 10:55Speaker 3: first set, you're gonna pick up the second set, and
- 10:58Speaker 3: this time you're passing the opposite torection. So when you're done,
- 11:02Speaker 3: you've got sixty cards in your pool that you can
- 11:05Speaker 3: build from, and you have to build a normal thirty
- 11:09Speaker 3: six card deck. Same house rules apply. You obviously have
- 11:13Speaker 3: to have three different houses, and you have to have
- 11:15Speaker 3: twelve cards of every house. If you do not get
- 11:20Speaker 3: twelve cards of a house, say you you you know
- 11:23Speaker 3: you took a risk and you went for something that
- 11:25Speaker 3: didn't necessarily have a whole lot of house packs put
- 11:30Speaker 3: into it. So you know, maybe only three house packs
- 11:32Speaker 3: got put into it. So there's forty five cards amongst
- 11:34Speaker 3: eight players of that house, and if maybe one or
- 11:37Speaker 3: two people are drafting it, you're going to run into
- 11:39Speaker 3: a problem. Or maybe you only got eleven cards or
- 11:42Speaker 3: maybe ten cards. But if you got some really good,
- 11:45Speaker 3: strong cards, you can still elect to play that house,
- 11:50Speaker 3: except you insert a bozo cards what.
- 11:53Speaker 1: I call them episode honey boo boo cards.
- 11:58Speaker 3: Yeah, something like that. I don't remember what you called them,
- 12:00Speaker 3: but yeah, the pozo card. So, and what all that
- 12:02Speaker 3: is is it's a yellow plane card that has your
- 12:05Speaker 3: house on it, and it basically says that it is.
- 12:10Speaker 3: It's a part of that house that does nothing. You
- 12:12Speaker 3: can't play it. It doesn't have no amber on it
- 12:15Speaker 3: has nothing. All you do is have the ability to
- 12:18Speaker 3: discard it. And that's your penalty for not drafting them. So,
- 12:22Speaker 3: like I said, if you get like eleven cards that
- 12:24Speaker 3: are just amazing, you can still choose to go that end.
- 12:29Speaker 3: In a lot of the drafts that I've done, it
- 12:32Speaker 3: has happened that way. And that's part of the reason
- 12:35Speaker 3: why we started doing the at the beginning, telling everybody
- 12:39Speaker 3: how many of every house is in there, because the
- 12:43Speaker 3: first couple of drafts that we didn't do that, there
- 12:45Speaker 3: is a whole lot of Ozo cards going around. Yeah.
- 12:50Speaker 1: Now my biggest question is are the packs the same
- 12:54Speaker 1: every time? Like they are in a so they're they're randomized.
- 12:58Speaker 3: They are randomized. So when I so I bring, I
- 13:02Speaker 3: bring five two hundred cards every time I run one
- 13:05Speaker 3: of these things. And when I'm done, whatever we use,
- 13:09Speaker 3: I take back and I reapply the algorithm to them.
- 13:14Speaker 3: I pull out all the dynamically generated things I make
- 13:17Speaker 3: the house packs, and a house pack they are variable,
- 13:22Speaker 3: so you can have anywhere from a minimum of five
- 13:27Speaker 3: creatures to a maximum of ten creatures in a deck
- 13:32Speaker 3: and the rest of it being artifacts, upgrades and actions.
- 13:38Speaker 1: So so yeah, that was the question because I know
- 13:43Speaker 1: what I pulled. I know, well, I know what Devin
- 13:45Speaker 1: pulled first strong because he told me He's like, yeah,
- 13:47Speaker 1: I got two old watcherus and I forget what Elsie said.
- 13:50Speaker 1: It was double old Sweat and something else and prepsterar
- 13:53Speaker 1: raise yeah, and it was praise.
- 13:57Speaker 3: I was like, oh God, and I.
- 13:58Speaker 1: Remember looking at my like second can pack and I'm like,
- 14:00Speaker 1: three open the seals. Huh. I was like, are these
- 14:04Speaker 1: supposed to?
- 14:05Speaker 3: Like?
- 14:05Speaker 1: This feels like cheating now, Like I don't feel.
- 14:08Speaker 3: Like there betributed it And ideally is it possible Is
- 14:13Speaker 3: it likely that that's going to happen? No, it's not.
- 14:17Speaker 3: You know, somebody asked me, they said, well, oh do
- 14:18Speaker 3: you what can you? Can you share the pack lists
- 14:22Speaker 3: with them? I'm like no, because the Arno pack, every
- 14:26Speaker 3: time I rebuild the set, it's rebuilt in a way
- 14:32Speaker 3: that makes it completely different from the last time. Because
- 14:34Speaker 3: I want them to be debility. And there's also the
- 14:38Speaker 3: concept of like if this this, if if you know,
- 14:41Speaker 3: we go somewhere with this and something is it's very
- 14:43Speaker 3: successful and people enjoy it. I want people. I wanted
- 14:47Speaker 3: to design it in a way that you're not just
- 14:50Speaker 3: having these cards that are dead cards. You can repack
- 14:54Speaker 3: them and do it again and do something different.
- 14:57Speaker 2: So for house Pips, that was just a natural occurrence
- 15:01Speaker 2: of house pips in what we saw in Saint Louis.
- 15:05Speaker 3: So remember so like house pips the inside those cards
- 15:10Speaker 3: that are in there. The first thing I do when
- 15:12Speaker 3: I get a gigantic thing of cards. Is the first
- 15:15Speaker 3: thing I do is I go through and pull out
- 15:18Speaker 3: every single card that is enhanced naturally that the out
- 15:21Speaker 3: that the deck put on there. And the reason for
- 15:24Speaker 3: that is how we handle enhancements. What has everybody wanted
- 15:30Speaker 3: to do ever since enhancements came out? Figure out where
- 15:34Speaker 3: they exactly, And so in my version of pack draft,
- 15:41Speaker 3: you get the opportunity to do that. So, uh, you
- 15:46Speaker 3: get to go in and if you draft cards that
- 15:49Speaker 3: have the enhancement keyword on it and a certain number
- 15:53Speaker 3: of enhanced pips, you get the opportunity to place those
- 15:58Speaker 3: on your car cards at a later point when you're
- 16:01Speaker 3: doing your deck building. Now, mind you, you only get
- 16:04Speaker 3: to place the ones that are inside your deck. So
- 16:08Speaker 3: if you draft a card that has you know, you
- 16:11Speaker 3: draft to open the seal and it does not make
- 16:13Speaker 3: it into your deck, then you do not get the
- 16:17Speaker 3: housepit the enhancement pips for it. If you do put
- 16:22Speaker 3: it in your deck. Though, every one of the cards
- 16:25Speaker 3: is interior sleeved, so they got an inner sleeve on them.
- 16:30Speaker 3: And you come over to me or whoever is doing
- 16:33Speaker 3: the administration, and you show me all of the enhancements
- 16:36Speaker 3: that are going into your deck, and then I will
- 16:39Speaker 3: give you interior sleeves that already have stickers attached to
- 16:43Speaker 3: them that show you exactly what enhancements you get. Now
- 16:48Speaker 3: you can place those on any card that you like,
- 16:51Speaker 3: with the exception that you can only have one additional
- 16:54Speaker 3: pip unless you draft more than thirty six enhancements. It
- 17:00Speaker 3: has not happened yet, I am sure that someone will
- 17:04Speaker 3: do it in the future, and I have allowances for that.
- 17:07Speaker 3: And so I have stickers that are already placed on
- 17:12Speaker 3: the same brand of interior sleeves for all of the
- 17:15Speaker 3: different types, including all of the house pips for it.
- 17:20Speaker 3: And that's kind of a little bit where the I
- 17:23Speaker 3: guess investment that I made into this is I may
- 17:26Speaker 3: or may not have bought a DI sublimination sticker printer
- 17:30Speaker 3: for the specific purpose of making stupid little things that
- 17:33Speaker 3: go on stupid little pieces of plastic. So yeah, so
- 17:38Speaker 3: I actually have all the capabilities of being able to
- 17:40Speaker 3: make tiny little pips that are all the houses I
- 17:43Speaker 3: even I've made vector drawings of them all and I
- 17:47Speaker 3: can utilize those to make all of the things that
- 17:50Speaker 3: I need. I even made things for the future. So
- 17:52Speaker 3: there's like if we decide to go crazy and put
- 17:55Speaker 3: key rack In in there. I also made key rack In
- 17:58Speaker 3: and I also made the Darkness case we ever wanted
- 18:00Speaker 3: to to venture down those dark, dark drafting paths.
- 18:04Speaker 1: I I say, let's go crazy. I mean this was
- 18:07Speaker 1: I I had so much fun. I know a lot
- 18:09Speaker 1: of people were kind of hesitant and didn't really know,
- 18:11Speaker 1: and I don't. I don't you walk steud He had fun,
- 18:14Speaker 1: and but he had talked about like, well, you know
- 18:17Speaker 1: certain people and certain pods had I know his big
- 18:20Speaker 1: thing is I know one of his pods, Like I
- 18:22Speaker 1: think one of your locals was in there with him
- 18:26Speaker 1: that had done some play testing with you. And I'm like,
- 18:28Speaker 1: let's just that's draft in general, right, Like yeah, like
- 18:31Speaker 1: I I have you you have experience. I have experience
- 18:35Speaker 1: with drafting magic, right and we all remember drafting that
- 18:38Speaker 1: back in the day, So like, yes, I have we
- 18:40Speaker 1: have a lot of experience in draft. I was like,
- 18:45Speaker 1: it just so happens. Yes, you got somebody who runs
- 18:47Speaker 1: a YouTube channel that talks very often about draft like
- 18:51Speaker 1: it was.
- 18:52Speaker 3: It was.
- 18:52Speaker 1: It was a it was a bad Fields moment for
- 18:55Speaker 1: you unfortunately.
- 18:56Speaker 2: But like that's well not a norm as the as
- 18:59Speaker 2: the designated Wookie. I'm sorry you walk this episode. I
- 19:02Speaker 2: do feel like I need to step in here because
- 19:04Speaker 2: you're really dragging him through the mud a little bit.
- 19:06Speaker 1: But I'm not dragging through them.
- 19:07Speaker 3: I know.
- 19:07Speaker 1: It was one thing he was upset about, and it's
- 19:09Speaker 1: just one of those things where I was.
- 19:10Speaker 2: Like, I choose to read his take on it as
- 19:15Speaker 2: we were glad that Shadow Meltal was there. He ensured
- 19:18Speaker 2: that everything ran smoothly and we're lucky to have him
- 19:20Speaker 2: now he won the pod, But there you go. I
- 19:23Speaker 2: think so one thing he walked talked about on the
- 19:25Speaker 2: ride home was that. And I think on the last
- 19:28Speaker 2: episode is we took a small poll of the players
- 19:32Speaker 2: in our pod, and only six of us wanted Shadow
- 19:36Speaker 2: to appear, Shadows to appear.
- 19:37Speaker 3: I did not.
- 19:39Speaker 2: And yet on the list of pods, packs, pods, pods,
- 19:44Speaker 2: among the packs, shadows appeared seven times. How might that be.
- 19:49Speaker 3: That can happen? So in that particular one, I so,
- 19:56Speaker 3: in an effort to make timing faster, I did pre
- 20:00Speaker 3: build one of the pods and that pod was paired
- 20:03Speaker 3: with the people. And if you went through that list,
- 20:06Speaker 3: there was one extra shadows in that one and one
- 20:10Speaker 3: less unfathomable if think, Okay, so I did rebuild that,
- 20:17Speaker 3: and that is why that would happen. And the reason
- 20:20Speaker 3: why is that I don't know. I never know how
- 20:22Speaker 3: many players are gonna come. I always hope for hi,
- 20:26Speaker 3: you know. And we had twenty four in Saint Louis
- 20:29Speaker 3: and we had thirty in Fortland, and the same kind
- 20:31Speaker 3: of thing happened where I got once I got past
- 20:35Speaker 3: the first two packs of building them. It takes a
- 20:38Speaker 3: lot of time. It takes time, and I don't want
- 20:40Speaker 3: you guys having to sit there and wait, but I
- 20:42Speaker 3: still want to give you the agency to be able
- 20:45Speaker 3: to choose your houses for it. So in the great future,
- 20:51Speaker 3: if you know, I had to say, in something, I
- 20:55Speaker 3: would love to see the ability for like four player
- 20:58Speaker 3: or eight player draft acts to be available. And in
- 21:04Speaker 3: those types of things, most likely, obviously you're not going
- 21:07Speaker 3: to be able to choose all of your houses in
- 21:08Speaker 3: those and so that is you would get a pre
- 21:12Speaker 3: made set of things. Good, which is I mean, it's
- 21:16Speaker 3: that's actually more akin to what you would see in
- 21:18Speaker 3: a regular draft. And another thing, because you're just gonna
- 21:20Speaker 3: get Randall cards in those ye, whereas this one my
- 21:24Speaker 3: goal was always to try and give you as much
- 21:26Speaker 3: agency as possible, and I didn't honestly think that you
- 21:30Speaker 3: guys would figure that out.
- 21:31Speaker 2: So cood, well, it's it's ac so or there's always
- 21:35Speaker 2: going to be a sharp buy for things to criticize.
- 21:38Speaker 3: Right, Oh that's what it called.
- 21:41Speaker 2: But yeah, the people don't always know what they want, right.
- 21:43Speaker 2: For example, I didn't include shadows, but the shadows pot
- 21:46Speaker 2: I got was fantastic and I definitely rolled with it.
- 21:49Speaker 2: So I thank you for giving us more shadows than
- 21:51Speaker 2: we wanted. We were wrong. And then as long as
- 21:54Speaker 2: we're on the ewok questions because I want to represent
- 21:57Speaker 2: them here. The other thing he talked about was in
- 21:59Speaker 2: the early rounds, this idea of maybe going choosing one
- 22:06Speaker 2: card at a time for a limited number of times
- 22:10Speaker 2: you're handed cards, right like, maybe ramp up to three,
- 22:12Speaker 2: just choose one, choose two, and then it's three the
- 22:14Speaker 2: rest of the way. Are these ideas that you've played
- 22:16Speaker 2: with along the way?
- 22:17Speaker 3: Yes, I have. And if you don't do the three
- 22:23Speaker 3: and I will credit a Panic for this one, because
- 22:27Speaker 3: in his draft he does in his cube, he does three.
- 22:33Speaker 3: And I had been doing testing with singles up until
- 22:38Speaker 3: that point, and when I played that, I was like, oh,
- 22:42Speaker 3: you know, this feels a lot better because there's especially
- 22:47Speaker 3: with eight players, the chances of two really good cards
- 22:53Speaker 3: making it all the way back around to you is impossible.
- 22:57Speaker 3: And with the amount of the amount of procedurally generated
- 23:01Speaker 3: stuff we have in key Forge, I would have had
- 23:06Speaker 3: to pretty much no one would ever get a gigantic.
- 23:11Speaker 3: The chances of you getting you know, two routine jobs
- 23:15Speaker 3: if they showed up in the same pack, would be
- 23:18Speaker 3: next to nothing because it would never get back around
- 23:21Speaker 3: to you, even if somebody is just hate drafting it.
- 23:23Speaker 3: And so I felt like it was a really good mix.
- 23:28Speaker 3: And the decks that came out of the next testing
- 23:34Speaker 3: after I went after I went to three and I
- 23:36Speaker 3: did it with one, two, and three. When I went
- 23:40Speaker 3: through the ones that were three, the quality of the
- 23:42Speaker 3: decks that came out of him was much higher.
- 23:45Speaker 2: So that was the reason I ended up going with
- 23:48Speaker 2: that makes sense, and it's a lot it's just efficient
- 23:51Speaker 2: to have every every selection the same thing, and everybody
- 23:55Speaker 2: acknowledged that as we were talking about these things on
- 23:57Speaker 2: the way down. Wookie wasn't because he was a sleep
- 24:00Speaker 2: ten minutes another car ride, but you walk and I
- 24:02Speaker 2: had a lot of good discussions about this stuff.
- 24:05Speaker 3: Yeah, and it's interesting because it's like, you know, when
- 24:09Speaker 3: you when you're I find when you're drafting with one card,
- 24:13Speaker 3: one of one of the things, as anybody who's drafted
- 24:15Speaker 3: a lot probably knows, is that you have one person
- 24:18Speaker 3: who's really good at assessing a set of cards. They
- 24:23Speaker 3: pull their cards out, they put it down, they push
- 24:24Speaker 3: the pack to the next person, and eventually there's whoever
- 24:29Speaker 3: the poor, less than efficient person is. They'll end up
- 24:33Speaker 3: with three or four packs behind them. And what that
- 24:36Speaker 3: ends up doing is it just makes a it makes
- 24:39Speaker 3: an opportunity to happen where things get out of sync.
- 24:42Speaker 3: And and that's why I always tell people, I said,
- 24:46Speaker 3: if you see the person next to you already has
- 24:48Speaker 3: one waiting for them, do not pass them another room.
- 24:51Speaker 3: And the I found that the picking three required enough
- 24:58Speaker 3: time that it didn't take dramatically longer to have somebody
- 25:03Speaker 3: pick three than it did to pick one if they
- 25:06Speaker 3: were having a harder time making choices, because it actually
- 25:10Speaker 3: just said like they actually were, like you know, sometimes
- 25:13Speaker 3: they would get to that point where they go, I've
- 25:15Speaker 3: got these two cards and I don't know which of
- 25:17Speaker 3: the two, Well, now I can get both, And it
- 25:21Speaker 3: actually sped up the whole draft a lot. And like
- 25:25Speaker 3: with eight people on average, it's going to be about
- 25:28Speaker 3: forty five to fifty minutes to draft, and if you
- 25:31Speaker 3: do it single, it actually trended over an hour. And
- 25:36Speaker 3: so it was just another It was like I felt
- 25:38Speaker 3: like the more agency plus the reduced amount of time
- 25:43Speaker 3: was the golden answer right there.
- 25:45Speaker 1: I mean, one thing I know we did in our
- 25:47Speaker 1: Pod two was at a certain point, like after two
- 25:50Speaker 1: or three cards, were like, you should have X amount
- 25:53Speaker 1: of cards available to you in the pack you're looking at,
- 25:57Speaker 1: because it turns out.
- 25:58Speaker 3: Usually usually what I tell people is I say, if
- 26:02Speaker 3: you're waiting to pass the pack to the next person,
- 26:04Speaker 3: count your cards.
- 26:05Speaker 1: Yeah, because there was one time where I had only
- 26:08Speaker 1: selected two and I was like, oh, yeah, I did
- 26:11Speaker 1: only because there's only two good ones in here. I
- 26:13Speaker 1: don't want any of these, but I gotta take a third.
- 26:16Speaker 3: So you guys, when you guys drafted, when you got
- 26:22Speaker 3: to the second pack, did any of you guys switch houses,
- 26:27Speaker 3: switch what you're going for? How I feel?
- 26:30Speaker 1: I think I I don't think I really switched houses,
- 26:33Speaker 1: but at a certain point, I'm like, oh, just kind
- 26:37Speaker 1: of seeing what was coming to me out of round one,
- 26:42Speaker 1: I was like, I kind of think I have an
- 26:44Speaker 1: idea what the person next to me is going for.
- 26:47Speaker 1: So unfortunately, at that point, I was like, well, I
- 26:51Speaker 1: can't pass you this, Like there's just no way, Like
- 26:55Speaker 1: I'm not I'm not going to pass you a permanent record.
- 26:57Speaker 1: That's just silly, right, Like that doesn't So I started
- 27:00Speaker 1: kind of hate drafting at that point.
- 27:03Speaker 3: I really wanted to have sixty cards. When you have
- 27:06Speaker 3: sixty cards, it gives you enough that hate drafting is
- 27:10Speaker 3: a is a plausible thing without totally hamstringing yourself.
- 27:13Speaker 1: Well, pack one I was trying to go into shadows,
- 27:16Speaker 1: and I was I was on track with shadows in
- 27:20Speaker 1: in pack one, right, I was like, all right, yep,
- 27:23Speaker 1: I'm I'm pretty well distributed. You know, I got some
- 27:26Speaker 1: duds in here. But that's kind of draft, right, Like
- 27:29Speaker 1: those last three to six are usually just kind of
- 27:33Speaker 1: you know, you don't You're like, I don't really want them,
- 27:35Speaker 1: but that's fine.
- 27:36Speaker 3: The last three to six. If you get something that
- 27:38Speaker 3: goes into your deck, that's.
- 27:40Speaker 1: Just like Christmas, right, And but then all of a
- 27:44Speaker 1: sudden I'm like, you know, as I'm building, I'm like,
- 27:46Speaker 1: I don't have nearly enough shadows. Oh no, so I'm
- 27:52Speaker 1: not going shadows and I'm counting, and I'm like, I
- 27:54Speaker 1: just got handed a bunch of Obro's cards, which actually
- 27:59Speaker 1: just ended up being I have ten and that's I
- 28:03Speaker 1: only need to take to uh two Bozo cards if
- 28:06Speaker 1: I take Oberos. Now, lucky for me, I did draft
- 28:09Speaker 1: enough discard pips where I never played Oberros.
- 28:14Speaker 3: So it didn't matter started the whole thing.
- 28:17Speaker 1: I was playing two houses no matter what, So it
- 28:20Speaker 1: just ended up like I had enough where my deck
- 28:23Speaker 1: was built, and after building with where I wanted to go, like,
- 28:26Speaker 1: I never had to go to a third house.
- 28:30Speaker 3: So it was just like I've got enough dis card
- 28:32Speaker 3: Like you can you can pull some some by crafting
- 28:37Speaker 3: your enhancements, which is my absolute favorite way to play draft.
- 28:40Speaker 3: And that is why I wanted to do it this way,
- 28:43Speaker 3: because I will I am, I will fully admit that
- 28:46Speaker 3: I'm one of those people that has always been like, man,
- 28:48Speaker 3: that card only had that pip on it, right, And
- 28:51Speaker 3: but like the at Portland, we did a a Saturday
- 28:57Speaker 3: night like kind of pre draft as a pod and
- 29:01Speaker 3: they only had seven, so I jumped in and I
- 29:03Speaker 3: managed to draft a twenty eight capture pip.
- 29:09Speaker 1: Triple red train that too, but he didn't have the switcher.
- 29:14Speaker 1: But I was like, twenty eight capture pips. My god,
- 29:17Speaker 1: that game's gonna go forever.
- 29:19Speaker 3: Oh. I had twenty eight capture pips with uh three switcheroos,
- 29:23Speaker 3: two Ditch the loots, and a Janeeri actually two of them,
- 29:28Speaker 3: so I had lots of outs. I never didn't get
- 29:31Speaker 3: a crepuscular race. But you want to know the funny
- 29:33Speaker 3: thing about it was, I didn't win all my games,
- 29:37Speaker 3: and one of the game that I lost was because
- 29:41Speaker 3: somebody drafted a ridiculous amount of not attacks, which is
- 29:47Speaker 3: an amazing card in draft, So uh, disc get and
- 29:51Speaker 3: turn over the top card of your opponent's deck if
- 29:53Speaker 3: it has a pip on it, they lose that much amber.
- 29:56Speaker 3: And I was bleeding amber like you would not believe,
- 30:01Speaker 3: and they managed to keep just cycling. I think they
- 30:04Speaker 3: had four or five not at taxes and it was.
- 30:09Speaker 3: It was nasty but fun because it just shows you
- 30:13Speaker 3: that the beauty of the degenerate uh uh. You know,
- 30:17Speaker 3: multiples of commons in draft to be really good. One
- 30:20Speaker 3: of my favorites is colts Levin the It's an absolute
- 30:25Speaker 3: trash card in most most days, you know, you know,
- 30:27Speaker 3: most days are not going to be happy to see
- 30:29Speaker 3: this card sitting in your deck. But let me tell you,
- 30:31Speaker 3: if you gets six of them anyway, a ridiculous amount
- 30:35Speaker 3: of plus uh counter enhancements, you now have a two
- 30:40Speaker 3: power card that when you play it, it melts the
- 30:43Speaker 3: other side, and that's a ton of fun. Yeah. Yeah.
- 30:48Speaker 2: I definitely started with three houses and wind up drafting
- 30:52Speaker 2: four houses basically because I got a catch release.
- 30:57Speaker 3: Did you get four full twelve card houses? No?
- 31:01Speaker 2: I got full three houses and then decided to abandon
- 31:05Speaker 2: one of those to go with a ten card house
- 31:07Speaker 2: because I drafted catching release early. So I went, you know,
- 31:10Speaker 2: and Fatoma Will filled up that house and I was like,
- 31:13Speaker 2: I just I've been filling it with trash just to
- 31:15Speaker 2: get to twelve cards. Meanwhile, my geistoid pod, I've got
- 31:18Speaker 2: Eco charge bar Gas Vengeance like old Switchero. I'm just
- 31:23Speaker 2: gonna roll with ten like it's good enough. It's got
- 31:25Speaker 2: enough good stuff in there.
- 31:27Speaker 3: And that was great. You don't realize, like you realize
- 31:31Speaker 3: a little too late that there's just not going to
- 31:33Speaker 3: be very much of X house coming around, and you
- 31:36Speaker 3: end up having to pivot in the beginning of the
- 31:38Speaker 3: second round, and sometimes that works out better for you. Yeah.
- 31:42Speaker 1: Yeah, I think we do need to talk about is
- 31:45Speaker 1: because we didn't really say it is you you only
- 31:48Speaker 1: allow one key sheet per neck.
- 31:51Speaker 3: Yes, and you can thanks shadow Mill for that one probably.
- 31:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 31:56Speaker 3: Uh. He drafted in one of our test drafts. I
- 31:59Speaker 3: think you two key drains and three or four ecto
- 32:03Speaker 3: charges and the game I played against him, he did
- 32:09Speaker 3: not win, but all of his keys were forged with
- 32:13Speaker 3: with key sheets, and I was like, okay, uh yeah,
- 32:17Speaker 3: that's that's that leads to I'm not a huge fan
- 32:22Speaker 3: of the one turn win, so that was part of
- 32:26Speaker 3: the reason why I also kind of felt like, you know,
- 32:29Speaker 3: maybe we can limit it to one and see how
- 32:31Speaker 3: we go. And since then it's been pretty good.
- 32:36Speaker 2: I thought we would talk about hit placement, but Wiki,
- 32:39Speaker 2: you said you didn't get any enhancements at all? Is
- 32:41Speaker 2: that right?
- 32:42Speaker 3: No?
- 32:42Speaker 1: I got tons of enhancements.
- 32:44Speaker 2: Oh you did, all right? Can I talk about my
- 32:45Speaker 2: favorite ones that I did? I got like three of them? Okay,
- 32:48Speaker 2: So old Switchero with a capture Pip. It gets its
- 32:51Speaker 2: own capture Pip right on it. That's an obvious one, right,
- 32:53Speaker 2: that's awesome. Finishing blow. I was able to get a
- 32:57Speaker 2: clay more with some damage Pip, so I put one
- 32:59Speaker 2: down finishing blow again obvious. Throwing stars also gets a
- 33:04Speaker 2: damage Pip. Just break somebody down, so get that amber
- 33:06Speaker 2: you finish them off. Wonderful. One thing that shadow Meld
- 33:10Speaker 2: clued me in on not so subtly. As I was
- 33:12Speaker 2: finishing up the construction of where I'm going to put
- 33:15Speaker 2: my pips, was putting a power counter on Oh is
- 33:20Speaker 2: this take? I don't have the name of the card
- 33:22Speaker 2: in my photo here. I think it's either it's take
- 33:24Speaker 2: a break. So take a Break targets the weakest creature
- 33:28Speaker 2: in your opponent's battle line, so if you throw a
- 33:31Speaker 2: power counter on there, you can adjust the power of
- 33:35Speaker 2: your opponent's battle line. I was like, mind blown, Yeah,
- 33:39Speaker 2: it's so fun.
- 33:42Speaker 3: That is one of the things that felt like I
- 33:46Speaker 3: started building this, you know, the draconian measures vision of
- 33:50Speaker 3: this right when it was you know, is in its
- 33:53Speaker 3: infancy as having completed the successful game founding, we got
- 33:57Speaker 3: our stuff and we started putting all these things together,
- 34:00Speaker 3: and because it was not a set that I digested
- 34:04Speaker 3: for years or in some cases, I felt like, man,
- 34:10Speaker 3: drafting was an incredible way to learn a house. I mean,
- 34:14Speaker 3: to learn a set. Yeah, you like, you see things
- 34:17Speaker 3: that you would never look at, You never give it
- 34:21Speaker 3: a second look at until you think, like you have
- 34:23Speaker 3: those big brain moments where you're like, oh, and now
- 34:28Speaker 3: when you start to look at new decks, when you're
- 34:31Speaker 3: going and playing sealed or you're looking you're just looking
- 34:33Speaker 3: at your existing decks, you see new ways of playing
- 34:37Speaker 3: your existing decks. And I love that. I love the
- 34:40Speaker 3: fact that draft is a great way to learn a
- 34:43Speaker 3: set and learn cards. Now, mind you, as you said before,
- 34:47Speaker 3: people who have a experience with draft and or have
- 34:51Speaker 3: a good set knowledge. I think that was one of
- 34:54Speaker 3: the things that you know, A couple people said after
- 34:57Speaker 3: Portland was there, like I really enjoyed it, but I
- 35:00Speaker 3: felt like I was at a disadvantage because I just
- 35:03Speaker 3: don't know the cards as well. And I get that,
- 35:06Speaker 3: But at the same time, I feel like it's a
- 35:08Speaker 3: great way to learn them because you're learning them in
- 35:11Speaker 3: a very different way than you do by playing in
- 35:13Speaker 3: our con deck, by building an alliance or even doing doing.
- 35:18Speaker 1: I feel like that complaint is true in any draft,
- 35:21Speaker 1: like no matter what game you're playing, like set knowledge
- 35:24Speaker 1: and knowing where to go and what to do, like
- 35:28Speaker 1: is kind of that's any draft format that's not just
- 35:32Speaker 1: strictly uh a key forge thing.
- 35:36Speaker 2: Has there ever been something like the pit placement? I
- 35:39Speaker 2: feel like Magic might have had stickers at one point,
- 35:42Speaker 2: but wasn't that a goofy offset like this.
- 35:45Speaker 1: Magic's never had the stickers really, like like like this
- 35:49Speaker 1: was even then. I mean I remember draftings. You know,
- 35:57Speaker 1: the ersa block and you know that that could be
- 36:01Speaker 1: an interesting thing in the future, right where like you're
- 36:04Speaker 1: mashing two sets together and that's that's a whole nother
- 36:09Speaker 1: ball of axe. Like you know, like you're Ers's block.
- 36:14Speaker 1: You know, you had to know you had like the
- 36:16Speaker 1: root Wallas and uh, the wild mongrels and all that,
- 36:21Speaker 1: like that was the good Like you had to know
- 36:22Speaker 1: what the good stuff was when it came your way
- 36:26Speaker 1: to be like, yep, I'm gonna take it, because I mean,
- 36:30Speaker 1: I know a lot of people back then were like
- 36:32Speaker 1: drafting for rares and it's like it's not really mainly
- 36:36Speaker 1: the way you want to draft, right, you want a
- 36:38Speaker 1: draft good cards so that you win. So I mean
- 36:43Speaker 1: it was what it was. I feel like that's no
- 36:45Speaker 1: matter what game you go into, if you're doing a
- 36:47Speaker 1: draft format, you need to have proper set knowledge. Now,
- 36:51Speaker 1: I mean I I did learn a couple of things
- 36:54Speaker 1: because like at the end, I'm like, I don't know,
- 36:55Speaker 1: I'm gonna put this last discard pip and I put
- 36:57Speaker 1: it on a what's the one you are?
- 37:01Speaker 3: Or no?
- 37:01Speaker 1: You shuffle the top card of your discard pile and
- 37:04Speaker 1: that card back into your deck. Always out of ideas,
- 37:07Speaker 1: I always forget the name of that card.
- 37:10Speaker 3: A world champion. That is a world champion design.
- 37:14Speaker 1: For always, I always forget it. But if you put
- 37:16Speaker 1: a discard pip on, it turns out you will be
- 37:19Speaker 1: putting back the cards you discarded. And I'm like, oh no,
- 37:22Speaker 1: it's just.
- 37:23Speaker 3: Which can be great because it's like, you know, you
- 37:27Speaker 3: get that that that early uh amber control that you
- 37:30Speaker 3: want on turn five or six, and you're like, I
- 37:32Speaker 3: don't need a troller right now. I'm just gonna put
- 37:35Speaker 3: this lovely troller right back in my deck. Yeah.
- 37:38Speaker 1: But I mean, is there plans for something like that
- 37:42Speaker 1: where you would, hey, we're going to add in maybe
- 37:45Speaker 1: Ember Sky's those kind of cards. There's that like two
- 37:48Speaker 1: months right now. Let's just.
- 37:50Speaker 3: I've thought about that type of thing. I mean, my
- 37:53Speaker 3: goal in once this year, and you know, I'm thankful
- 37:58Speaker 3: that that. Uh, I'm geting the opportunity to be able
- 38:01Speaker 3: to run this at the Vault Tours and give people
- 38:03Speaker 3: experiences with it and to just kind of test it
- 38:06Speaker 3: to see if this is something that Ghost Galaxy might
- 38:09Speaker 3: want to do in the future. You know, let's give
- 38:11Speaker 3: them an opportunity to.
- 38:12Speaker 1: Be able to have an those Galaxy do it in
- 38:15Speaker 1: the future.
- 38:16Speaker 3: I mean, I had obliged. I mean, it's not the
- 38:18Speaker 3: Wookie Wookie Seal of Approval.
- 38:20Speaker 2: Absolutely, and which is hard hard to get.
- 38:23Speaker 3: It is hard, it is. It is. I'd be like,
- 38:26Speaker 3: when do you ask me to come on here? You know,
- 38:29Speaker 3: like I didn't know what to expect, but I was like,
- 38:32Speaker 3: I don't know what you have to say about that.
- 38:34Speaker 1: I loved it. I was just like this scratched every
- 38:38Speaker 1: itch I wanted it to write like it was like
- 38:41Speaker 1: I wanted the you know because after key Forge so long,
- 38:45Speaker 1: you're kind of like I missed kind of the old
- 38:47Speaker 1: days of being able to put around with stuff from
- 38:50Speaker 1: time to time, you know, And I was like, this
- 38:53Speaker 1: gave me that ability and you know, the whole draft
- 38:55Speaker 1: experience of I'm literally setting up my deck. You know,
- 39:00Speaker 1: I guess the I know not everybody's in the building.
- 39:04Speaker 1: But it's like it's like you said, that whole like
- 39:06Speaker 1: what if I did get that one that one pip
- 39:10Speaker 1: in the correct spot exactly?
- 39:14Speaker 3: And it it's you know, it basically can take the
- 39:17Speaker 3: people who love Alliance and love what that offers and
- 39:20Speaker 3: give them an opportunity to get even more granular if
- 39:23Speaker 3: they want to. But also, just like you said, part
- 39:27Speaker 3: of it is the experience of the draft. It's a
- 39:31Speaker 3: like for me at least, I'm not sure it is
- 39:33Speaker 3: for everybody, but for me at least, the draft part
- 39:37Speaker 3: of the draft is the fun. That's like part of
- 39:39Speaker 3: the fun of like, ooh, like I got this card,
- 39:42Speaker 3: am I gonna get something? Am I gonna get the
- 39:44Speaker 3: other thing that I want to like to synergize with this?
- 39:48Speaker 3: And when you get it, it's like, you know, uh
- 39:51Speaker 3: Manna from heaven. It's it's it's pretty awesome and uh so,
- 39:56Speaker 3: and those moments of it was like everybody loves cracking
- 40:03Speaker 3: a packet a fresh pack at KeyForge, you know you
- 40:05Speaker 3: love opening that deck and like draft is kind of
- 40:08Speaker 3: like getting past ten packs, you know, in a row
- 40:12Speaker 3: in a row, and so it's like I just opened
- 40:14Speaker 3: the entire entire box of boosters.
- 40:16Speaker 1: And then being able to throw away the all the
- 40:18Speaker 1: ones you don't want right, like, oh, these are all garbage,
- 40:21Speaker 1: but these three are fine. I'll take these.
- 40:24Speaker 3: I do like though, and like the whole Cold sweven
- 40:27Speaker 3: thing that happened to me because I ended up get
- 40:30Speaker 3: drafting in one of my test drafts. Uh I draft.
- 40:34Speaker 3: I think it was like three routine jobs and two
- 40:38Speaker 3: something else that were good, and I'm like, I can't
- 40:41Speaker 3: not use these things. But the only thing I could
- 40:43Speaker 3: get because Shadows was a deficient house in that was
- 40:47Speaker 3: these Cold Swevens. And so I'm like, wow, I'm better
- 40:49Speaker 3: put that in there, and I'd rather have that in
- 40:51Speaker 3: there than nothing. And that turned out to be one
- 40:54Speaker 3: of those moments where I was like, oh, oh this
- 40:57Speaker 3: is this does not actually right. And those moments are
- 41:02Speaker 3: awesome too, because you get those aha moments that teach
- 41:05Speaker 3: you a little bit more about key Forge. My lovely
- 41:09Speaker 3: lady she hates when I play crashing New decks, and well,
- 41:13Speaker 3: because we oftentimes will go out to dinner and we'll
- 41:15Speaker 3: bring decks. We actually are known of a lot of
- 41:17Speaker 3: the restaurants around us for the people who play card
- 41:19Speaker 3: games at dinner. But if I ever go like, I'll
- 41:25Speaker 3: be sitting looking at a hand and I'll go, oh,
- 41:27Speaker 3: she goes, oh gosh, dart it. He's done it and
- 41:30Speaker 3: he's found something else that he's never found before, and
- 41:33Speaker 3: now I get to experience it firsthand.
- 41:35Speaker 1: So yeah, I just, like I said, I was huge,
- 41:39Speaker 1: Like I didn't know how it would turn out, and
- 41:41Speaker 1: I'm like, oh, boy, like is this just gonna be
- 41:44Speaker 1: like craziness? And I was like, Okay, Nope, it actually
- 41:46Speaker 1: did everything I wanted it to do. Ghost Galaxy, How
- 41:50Speaker 1: do I give you money for this? I'm not sure how,
- 41:52Speaker 1: but please I will give you money. Make this a thing.
- 41:55Speaker 1: Please put that. I mean putting that in the local stories,
- 41:58Speaker 1: I think, and I only that, you know, just a
- 42:00Speaker 1: lot of people are who even I remember when I
- 42:05Speaker 1: first kind of came back to gaming all those years ago,
- 42:08Speaker 1: Key Ford was just coming out, but I was still
- 42:10Speaker 1: I went back to magic because I was somebody just
- 42:13Speaker 1: like we're doing a draft. I'm like I remember draft
- 42:16Speaker 1: Draft was a lot of fun. I kind of know
- 42:18Speaker 1: how to play Magic, and I feel like a lot
- 42:21Speaker 1: of people know how to play key Forge and like, oh,
- 42:24Speaker 1: I'll draft it and it's kind of that proverbial crack rock, right,
- 42:30Speaker 1: the first one's always free, and then before you know it,
- 42:32Speaker 1: you're back doing it again, right, And that's that's what
- 42:36Speaker 1: got me into Magic again. And then I found key
- 42:38Speaker 1: Forge because it was like, oh, this is the thing
- 42:40Speaker 1: that's happening and this I think it was the release
- 42:44Speaker 1: event and I'm like, I'll give it a shot and
- 42:46Speaker 1: I'm still here, so.
- 42:49Speaker 3: And I think that's what I kind of hope is that,
- 42:52Speaker 3: you know, as we can continue to grow locals or
- 42:56Speaker 3: get a little bit more traction on local levels, if
- 42:59Speaker 3: there's a way for you know, if there's a way
- 43:03Speaker 3: for us to have something, whether it's either a home
- 43:07Speaker 3: grown format like this that is accessible to everybody, or
- 43:11Speaker 3: it's an actual product, it is something that people can
- 43:18Speaker 3: get around and use this familiar methodology to entrance people
- 43:23Speaker 3: into playing key Forge. Because I don't know about you guys,
- 43:28Speaker 3: whenever we get somebody to sit down and play a
- 43:30Speaker 3: game of key Forge that is not a key Forge
- 43:32Speaker 3: player nine times out of ten they said, oh that
- 43:38Speaker 3: was fun. Yeah, And I think draft could be one
- 43:42Speaker 3: of those ways that people could do that, you know,
- 43:46Speaker 3: if people are into drafting those types of things. So
- 43:49Speaker 3: you know, it's really kind of depends on who you
- 43:50Speaker 3: have around you, but I mean, I definitely think that
- 43:53Speaker 3: is a potential option. I hope it is, because I'm
- 43:55Speaker 3: always looking for ways to help people grow their local communities.
- 43:58Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean I think a lot of a lot
- 44:01Speaker 2: of bringing new players in is often also very old players.
- 44:06Speaker 2: And with alternative formats, one of the big draws is
- 44:09Speaker 2: that you get to use those old piles you have
- 44:12Speaker 2: of old cards that are kind of falling out of
- 44:14Speaker 2: the meta. How might you envision players using their piles
- 44:19Speaker 2: of cards in draft? Like, how could they maybe make
- 44:22Speaker 2: their own or maybe that's a product that incorporates them
- 44:25Speaker 2: Somehow have you thought about how that might work?
- 44:27Speaker 3: Oh, I mean, like just in the very format of
- 44:30Speaker 3: making this, I've thought about how to get be able
- 44:33Speaker 3: to how to enable people to be able to do that.
- 44:36Speaker 3: And so my hope is that you know, the biggest,
- 44:41Speaker 3: the biggest I guess roadblocks are just having enough cards
- 44:45Speaker 3: to be able to do enough for if you want
- 44:49Speaker 3: to have a large event, you know, but if you
- 44:53Speaker 3: go back and like I think everybody who has ever
- 44:57Speaker 3: played key Ford for anymal o the time has certainly
- 44:59Speaker 3: has enough age of ascension to be able to make
- 45:02Speaker 3: very sizable, yea very sizable amount of packs for pack draft.
- 45:09Speaker 3: At some point in the future, I will I will
- 45:11Speaker 3: probably post the secret sauce on how I make the things,
- 45:16Speaker 3: and that way it can be out there for people
- 45:19Speaker 3: to be able to understand. If they want to take it,
- 45:21Speaker 3: take their old decks and start making packs and doing things,
- 45:24Speaker 3: they can do that as well.
- 45:26Speaker 1: Because the one thing I know I talked to you
- 45:28Speaker 1: at Saint Louis about it. I would love to see
- 45:31Speaker 1: this on like a store shelf. We all grab two
- 45:35Speaker 1: of them and then just go, you know, jam them
- 45:37Speaker 1: all together and do a draft. But the one thing
- 45:41Speaker 1: is is like there needs to be something like that.
- 45:44Speaker 1: I don't want to just blow thirty dollars and then
- 45:46Speaker 1: I just have a pile of cards, right like I
- 45:49Speaker 1: want I want to do something with them afterwards.
- 45:51Speaker 2: If I can jump in at the tail your question,
- 45:54Speaker 2: I representing people who aren't here. I'm going to represent Wookie,
- 45:58Speaker 2: who is here. Wookie's concerned primarily with all things is
- 46:01Speaker 2: tournament legality. If there were to be a product, how
- 46:05Speaker 2: do we not just have it sit on a shelf
- 46:07Speaker 2: somewhere after we do it a couple of times.
- 46:10Speaker 3: So the goal there would be, obviously you can remake
- 46:13Speaker 3: it into two draft packs if you would like to
- 46:16Speaker 3: be able to do so, or make your old decks
- 46:19Speaker 3: in the draft packs if you want to do that
- 46:21Speaker 3: as well. But the goal that I would love to
- 46:25Speaker 3: see in the future is that pack draft does not
- 46:28Speaker 3: exist in its own isolated world. It works along with
- 46:35Speaker 3: tube drafting, so that you could then have two formats
- 46:39Speaker 3: that would both feed into I mean in a world
- 46:44Speaker 3: that I would love to play, I would love to
- 46:45Speaker 3: see like there'd be a world championship for drafting and
- 46:48Speaker 3: you have to do both. You have to there's a
- 46:51Speaker 3: cube that is a an authorized cube that you could
- 46:56Speaker 3: go and get printed and or make yourself, and that
- 47:01Speaker 3: whenever you go to a cube draft, that's what's going
- 47:04Speaker 3: to get plopped on the table, is that that you know,
- 47:07Speaker 3: everybody's going to choose a house and you're going to
- 47:09Speaker 3: go into it. And the goal there would be that
- 47:11Speaker 3: after you pack draft, you can then utilize those cards
- 47:14Speaker 3: in it to make your own cube.
- 47:19Speaker 1: My thought, Pete, I'll represent well, yes, sir, okay, please,
- 47:24Speaker 1: I'll represent myself. My thought was like you do something
- 47:28Speaker 1: with See I've talked about this so many times before.
- 47:33Speaker 1: I feel like I'm just that this horse has also
- 47:36Speaker 1: just beaten to death. Yeah I'm gonna beat it some more.
- 47:40Speaker 1: Is you put special printings and some of the packs.
- 47:45Speaker 1: Maybe it's not all of them, but and maybe it's
- 47:47Speaker 1: just a choice select a few cards and I can
- 47:50Speaker 1: pimp out my decks with them, right, I know, we
- 47:53Speaker 1: we've talked about this so many times, and you're talking
- 47:56Speaker 1: about like swapping out like let me swap out a
- 47:59Speaker 1: car card for card, right, Like I just I still
- 48:02Speaker 1: to this date don't understand the like the hesitation there
- 48:10Speaker 1: is still like it's like but like I have faith
- 48:15Speaker 1: in Marcus and dead sinc and g that when they
- 48:19Speaker 1: are going through my deck on a deck check, even
- 48:23Speaker 1: if too much protect or Abissel site or whatever whatever
- 48:30Speaker 1: card you know in here somewhere, even if it has
- 48:33Speaker 1: a different printing, a different picture, maybe it's a foil
- 48:37Speaker 1: and it's not that there will still be able to
- 48:39Speaker 1: analyze the deck list and go Yep, there are four
- 48:42Speaker 1: in the deck and you also have four in the deck. Perfect,
- 48:46Speaker 1: and like that's the end of it, right, Like you know,
- 48:50Speaker 1: just again, for a company that talks so much about agency,
- 48:54Speaker 1: that's the one agency they're unwilling to give up. It's like,
- 48:58Speaker 1: I don't get it, Like we have intelligent, intelligent people here.
- 49:04Speaker 1: I'm sure they'll figure it out. Like I'm I have
- 49:06Speaker 1: full faith that they'll figure it out.
- 49:09Speaker 3: I Mean, all I can say under that one is
- 49:11Speaker 3: I had to try and using the contact us like
- 49:13Speaker 3: on the GG website.
- 49:15Speaker 1: No, I normally just go to the meet the ghosties
- 49:18Speaker 1: and bitch there.
- 49:19Speaker 2: So the challenge, what's that? So you're saying you're up
- 49:27Speaker 2: for the challenge if ever such a system were to
- 49:30Speaker 2: come on, I.
- 49:30Speaker 3: Can either confirm or deny that factor.
- 49:33Speaker 1: Okay, fair enough, It's just it's yeah, it's just I
- 49:36Speaker 1: think giving players that agency of being able to do that,
- 49:41Speaker 1: like would really really go a long way with a
- 49:44Speaker 1: lot of players.
- 49:45Speaker 3: I mean, like, here's the thing, if if if there
- 49:48Speaker 3: is enough players that that let us Galaxy know that
- 49:51Speaker 3: they wanted something, I have no doubt that they would
- 49:54Speaker 3: would listen to it and try and figure out how
- 49:58Speaker 3: they can make the game fit as many people as they.
- 50:01Speaker 1: Can, but that's really just like because they have to
- 50:04Speaker 1: understand that, right, And that's not only that, like it
- 50:06Speaker 1: seems like such a cheap, inefficient or cheap efficient way
- 50:11Speaker 1: of making like sweet happy locals, not just Wookie happy.
- 50:16Speaker 1: But we we often talk about the risk reward, right
- 50:20Speaker 1: because we understand the monetary limits to the to the
- 50:24Speaker 1: degree and just making it so it's like that seems
- 50:28Speaker 1: like such a cheap way to get people to come back, Like, Hey,
- 50:33Speaker 1: get this sweet whatever card right at your locals, right,
- 50:37Speaker 1: and maybe it's a special treatment, maybe it's a special foil,
- 50:41Speaker 1: maybe it's a special this, a special that, and you're
- 50:43Speaker 1: just able to swap that out into your favorite decks.
- 50:47Speaker 1: But even then, it's just there's still people out there.
- 50:50Speaker 3: I think you could do that even with if draft
- 50:53Speaker 3: Cube and draft pack became a thing, right, you can
- 50:57Speaker 3: you can certainly do that as a your pimp out
- 51:00Speaker 3: your cube and which is still kind of cool in
- 51:04Speaker 3: its own ley. Maybe not as cool as what you're
- 51:07Speaker 3: the other thing you're talking about, but you know it's
- 51:08Speaker 3: at least something.
- 51:09Speaker 1: I mean, she still collects foil, and I mean he's
- 51:12Speaker 1: stopped now, but like when when the original Foils came out,
- 51:15Speaker 1: he's like, I'm going to collect them all. There are
- 51:17Speaker 1: still people who will collect cool things.
- 51:20Speaker 3: But we have collectors sets. People love the collector sets,
- 51:24Speaker 3: you know, just to be able to look at the
- 51:25Speaker 3: cards and enjoy the cards. So yeah, absolutely. But some
- 51:29Speaker 3: of the stuff that Ghost Galaxy has come out with,
- 51:31Speaker 3: and like in the last couple of things, for like
- 51:36Speaker 3: blinged out cards, some of them are just downright gorgeous.
- 51:39Speaker 3: Oh yeah.
- 51:42Speaker 1: The one that is the least valuable is actually I
- 51:45Speaker 1: think one of the best looking. It's that bird. I
- 51:47Speaker 1: can't remember what he does Malforge. Yeah, like it's a
- 51:52Speaker 1: great looking card and looks awesome and foil. Yeah, but
- 51:57Speaker 1: you know he ain't gonna see no play. But you
- 52:00Speaker 1: must be thinking of the other bird. There's two birds.
- 52:04Speaker 3: Yeah, mouth Boards is actually pretty good.
- 52:07Speaker 2: Melthforge is a monster.
- 52:09Speaker 1: Blood wein I think looks great in foil, Like it's
- 52:12Speaker 1: just everything about it looks amazing and foil you'll you'll
- 52:17Speaker 1: never play it. But it's like I might go grab
- 52:19Speaker 1: one of those to shove into a binder or something,
- 52:22Speaker 1: just you know, show up.
- 52:23Speaker 3: And one of the things that's also interesting about getting
- 52:26Speaker 3: back to the draft concept is like every key forge
- 52:32Speaker 3: deck has creatures in it, and especially with draconic measures
- 52:37Speaker 3: and overwhelmed effects, there is a viable place in this
- 52:41Speaker 3: for a almost zero creature deck if you can make it.
- 52:46Speaker 3: You can in that you can actually make a you know,
- 52:51Speaker 3: a zero creature deck if you can get the things too,
- 52:54Speaker 3: if there's no limitations on that. And so I'm interested
- 52:56Speaker 3: to see how people do that.
- 53:00Speaker 1: We got very close, very close.
- 53:03Speaker 3: Did you do you like? Do you felt like it
- 53:06Speaker 3: was a viable a bible strategy in the comic measures?
- 53:12Speaker 1: I went to and one, So I mean yeah, I
- 53:15Speaker 1: mean my my first goal was number one. Obviously, if
- 53:19Speaker 1: it's got pips on it, I want it. You know,
- 53:22Speaker 1: if it's got umber pips, I want it. And then
- 53:23Speaker 1: if it has enhancement pips, I also want that.
- 53:27Speaker 2: Did you go?
- 53:28Speaker 3: What houses? Did you go?
- 53:29Speaker 1: I ended up going Geistoid? What did I have? I
- 53:34Speaker 1: had Geistoid fish Oberos.
- 53:36Speaker 3: Okay. I'm kind of surprised that you didn't go the
- 53:39Speaker 3: Equaedon route because.
- 53:41Speaker 1: I tried to go to the Aquadon route, but there
- 53:43Speaker 1: was a right who is also going aquad So I
- 53:47Speaker 1: tried hard. I tried real hard mutually assured destruction, right,
- 53:52Speaker 1: and then all of a sudden, I'm like, man, we
- 53:55Speaker 1: had seven packs of Shadows. How did I only get
- 53:57Speaker 1: six cards out of out of six, I only got
- 54:00Speaker 1: six Shadows cards. And then I find out two of
- 54:03Speaker 1: the players were like, yeah, I was hate drafting Shadows.
- 54:05Speaker 1: I just drafted all the shadows so they have to
- 54:07Speaker 1: play against it. And I was like, you bums, both shadows,
- 54:13Speaker 1: and so I ended up with like, you know, again
- 54:15Speaker 1: your cult Celevens of the World, and I was like,
- 54:19Speaker 1: this did not go the way I had originally planned.
- 54:21Speaker 1: So I ended up in oberost because that's two packs,
- 54:24Speaker 1: you know, two packs in a row. I had six,
- 54:26Speaker 1: and then I drafted a couple because they were the
- 54:28Speaker 1: best options in the pack. Because I did, there was
- 54:31Speaker 1: nothing left for me. So I was like, all right,
- 54:34Speaker 1: But like I said, my I ended up just playing
- 54:36Speaker 1: Fish and Geistoid pretty much because I had so many
- 54:39Speaker 1: discard pips.
- 54:40Speaker 3: Yeah, so many discard pips. That is some of the things.
- 54:43Speaker 3: So did you guys see anything like I love seeing
- 54:46Speaker 3: the completely like like dex that are just kind of
- 54:53Speaker 3: they do a thing and they do it really well,
- 54:55Speaker 3: you know, like I did it, Like I said, a
- 54:56Speaker 3: twenty three capture Pip deck one of the eyes in
- 55:01Speaker 3: uh uh Portland had I think probably one of my
- 55:07Speaker 3: favorite decks I've seen come out of it. They got ah,
- 55:14Speaker 3: I think it was two chain gangs and six some shots. Oh.
- 55:21Speaker 3: But again it got better because they got the Chevelle
- 55:25Speaker 3: de Friese, the one that the rare card, the one
- 55:28Speaker 3: of the very few cards that gives you shadows pips
- 55:32Speaker 3: because remember house pips, baby, that's that's that's where it's at,
- 55:35Speaker 3: and and draconic measures that's only in obviously rare form
- 55:41Speaker 3: only the only happens of rare so it's not nearly
- 55:43Speaker 3: as many as there were in like Skies, but he
- 55:46Speaker 3: got one of those, and he also managed to get
- 55:48Speaker 3: Martian propagation, and so his deck all it did was
- 55:56Speaker 3: it got a whole bunch of creatures out and then
- 56:00Speaker 3: blew them all up with Martian propagation on a shadows turn.
- 56:05Speaker 3: And then all it did for the rest because normally
- 56:07Speaker 3: he could get enough because you know, inter conic measures
- 56:11Speaker 3: board wipes are a premium. They're like something that you
- 56:15Speaker 3: gotta gotta try and find, right, and his players were
- 56:18Speaker 3: not getting the board wipes, and he got to the
- 56:21Speaker 3: point where he had his entire deck in his hand,
- 56:24Speaker 3: and all he did every turn was chain gain, chain
- 56:27Speaker 3: gangs and subtle, chain subtle, chain steal, steals, chain gang,
- 56:30Speaker 3: chain gang, subtle gang subtle, and then and then as
- 56:35Speaker 3: soon as he was out, he would martian propagation the
- 56:38Speaker 3: two chain gangs and draw them all back again. And
- 56:40Speaker 3: so from the beginning of the next turn, you had
- 56:42Speaker 3: nothing left in your hand, You had no amber left,
- 56:45Speaker 3: and that you weren't going to have it for the
- 56:46Speaker 3: rest of the turn. It was a lock. It was
- 56:48Speaker 3: a chain gang lock condition because of that house pit,
- 56:52Speaker 3: and he pulled it off. He pulled He got lock
- 56:56Speaker 3: in two out of his three games. And I was like,
- 57:00Speaker 3: that is the kind of stuff that I love seeing,
- 57:02Speaker 3: because one thing I will say about key Forge players
- 57:05Speaker 3: is because they can't like, you know, craft everything, Like
- 57:09Speaker 3: they really go out of their way to find crazy
- 57:12Speaker 3: stuff and crazy new ways of playing this game. And
- 57:15Speaker 3: I was like, that is a beautiful war crime right there.
- 57:19Speaker 1: I was the only thing I saw that was really
- 57:21Speaker 1: I was like, I don't know how that game is
- 57:22Speaker 1: going to go red Train. I think got twenty eight capture.
- 57:26Speaker 3: Pips yeah, yeah, now, and everybody and everybody in Hobo's
- 57:31Speaker 3: pod was going, I'm not seeing Annie Annie's stinking pips?
- 57:36Speaker 3: Where are they? And it sounded like you and the
- 57:40Speaker 3: training with the ones popping them all up. Nobody else
- 57:42Speaker 3: was getting Yeah.
- 57:43Speaker 1: I mean if I if I saw pips on a
- 57:44Speaker 1: card and enhancement pips.
- 57:46Speaker 3: They were going up the mine.
- 57:48Speaker 1: Yeah, those, I was like, don't pass me, none of those,
- 57:50Speaker 1: because they're going to my pile. And then finally I
- 57:53Speaker 1: found the house. I found the guys started house pips
- 57:55Speaker 1: and I was like, that's also mine. Oh yeah, And
- 57:59Speaker 1: I remember I was like, you don't want to pass
- 58:01Speaker 1: me that. I'm like, no, no, I don't. I was
- 58:03Speaker 1: like I want that.
- 58:06Speaker 3: Especially since now I knew that you had to switch ruse.
- 58:09Speaker 3: I definitely didn't want to pass that.
- 58:10Speaker 1: But even that, I don't think I knew that at
- 58:12Speaker 1: the time. But even then, I'm like, I'm not passing
- 58:15Speaker 1: house pips?
- 58:15Speaker 2: Are you nuts?
- 58:16Speaker 1: Even if I don't play that card, just you not
- 58:19Speaker 1: having it means the world to me.
- 58:21Speaker 3: Uh, what is a card? Inter Chonic measures draft that
- 58:26Speaker 3: you felt like hit way above it its normal status,
- 58:32Speaker 3: even just having maybe one or two copies of it.
- 58:36Speaker 3: I'll go first on that one by saying, one of
- 58:38Speaker 3: the one that I saw that it was a lot
- 58:40Speaker 3: of fun was I actually got to see somebody who
- 58:44Speaker 3: had a deck that had four routine jobs, which is
- 58:50Speaker 3: of course obviously good. And I want to say, like,
- 58:54Speaker 3: you know, counterfeit and conspiracy, maybe some ditchal lootes, but
- 58:58Speaker 3: like the Shadows, like eight out of their shadows pods
- 59:01Speaker 3: were we're just bunker's good. And they drafted a ton
- 59:07Speaker 3: of uh. I think they got an open the seal,
- 59:13Speaker 3: a bunch of open the seals. They did not ironically
- 59:15Speaker 3: have the the thing from the deep, but they played
- 59:18Speaker 3: them just to get the discard pips and the extras.
- 59:22Speaker 1: That's the crazy thing is I did not take the
- 59:24Speaker 1: open I was like, who wants that trashy thing?
- 59:30Speaker 3: So many pips on the dang thing. And what they
- 59:34Speaker 3: did was they chained two blank checks, and so all
- 59:40Speaker 3: that would happen is is they would discard everything that
- 59:42Speaker 3: they could, they'd get a blank check, they'd smack the
- 59:48Speaker 3: big uh, you know, three or four steel off of
- 59:52Speaker 3: the routine job, and then blank check to get it
- 59:56Speaker 3: all back into the deck and redraw it all over
- 59:58Speaker 3: again and It was incredibly effective because they put all
- 1:00:03Speaker 3: the discard pips on all the all the shadows cards,
- 1:00:06Speaker 3: so they were just playing shadows for the most part.
- 1:00:09Speaker 3: Once out of like maybe every six or seven turns
- 1:00:13Speaker 3: did they play something other than shadows because they just
- 1:00:15Speaker 3: had to. They just didn't get the cards. And about
- 1:00:19Speaker 3: once every three turns they were flipping the deck with
- 1:00:21Speaker 3: the routine the like check and so that was one
- 1:00:24Speaker 3: that I was like, oh, play check man, what a
- 1:00:26Speaker 3: what a solid card.
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: My big one that I was like, Oh, that's a problem.
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: What's the dragon that makes your keys cost minus one?
- 1:00:37Speaker 4: Uh?
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: Yeah, my oh no they want to make some cost less.
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: Oh yeah, god it makes your keys cost minus one.
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: And my opponent round three had three of them and
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: I was like, oh no. I was like, that's that's
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: that's a real problem. He just played all of them.
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: That's a real problem. Right now his keys cast out
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: of a board.
- 1:01:00Speaker 3: I'm going to be a sad bunkie.
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: Well, I had, I had, I was I was smart
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: enough to be like I need some I need something,
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: So I had uh, I had the two geistoid pips.
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: I Geistoid pipped my bubbles so I could bounce. So
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: I could keep bouncing, and I was like, yeah, you
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: can have that back, and I'll figure out a way
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: to kill it here in a little bit. I had
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: other ways to kill things, but uh, I was able
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: to like get rid of it. So I'm like, yeah,
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: let's let's make sure he doesn't come around, because I
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: know one of the one of the biggest complaints of
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: both I had two people complain a lot. They're like,
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: I have a lot of capture in my deck or
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: capture from your side, and you have no creatures, And
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: I'm like right. I was like, my goal is to
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: not play creatures unless I have to.
- 1:01:47Speaker 3: Do it is a viable strategy in d M to
- 1:01:50Speaker 3: take advantage of those overwhelmed effects, and there is a
- 1:01:55Speaker 3: ton of captures. Yeah, especially M draft.
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: I did not play any like I I think I
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: had bubble. I had two bubbles. I had a boiler
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: because I needed more cards than Geistoid. That was the
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: only reason there was a boiler flowing around in my dad.
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: I'm like, it's a Geistoid, it's boiler or a bear
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: or just a dead card. I'll take the boiler. I
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: suppose all all of my creatures were more my obros
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: and like I told you I was dis carding my
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: obros because I needed none of them, so I really
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: didn't have anything really going on. I was I was
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: in two houses most of the game, and I didn't
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: play creatures, so a lot of the times they weren't
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: able to take advantage of the things they thought they'd
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: be able to because I was like, who's playing creatures
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: in draft? This is nuts?
- 1:02:46Speaker 3: Did you find car that was like a woman? And
- 1:02:49Speaker 3: you're like, oh wow, some new respect for that.
- 1:02:52Speaker 2: Card, right, sort of not necessarily in a way that's
- 1:02:56Speaker 2: specific to draft Sadly, I think for my own deck,
- 1:02:59Speaker 2: I just drafted a better deck than I had in sealed,
- 1:03:03Speaker 2: you know, two days prior, right, which is good. That
- 1:03:06Speaker 2: was fun. That's a that's a win for me. Boiler
- 1:03:10Speaker 2: speaking a Boiler, I sent that card across to my
- 1:03:12Speaker 2: opponent two or three times in the games I played
- 1:03:15Speaker 2: in draft, just because it was in Geistoid, and that's
- 1:03:18Speaker 2: you know, old Switcheroo got it across the board and
- 1:03:21Speaker 2: I never really got burned by it. So I gained
- 1:03:24Speaker 2: some more respect for Boiler. And then the final one
- 1:03:27Speaker 2: is Nisic Resonator in Mars, because I have fargasts vengeance
- 1:03:33Speaker 2: in my draft deck. I can't remember Martian names, and
- 1:03:38Speaker 2: so Nisic Resonator escaped me when it was preventing me
- 1:03:41Speaker 2: from winning the game so many turns in a row
- 1:03:43Speaker 2: until my opponent finally had it in a place where
- 1:03:46Speaker 2: I could look at it again and read it and
- 1:03:48Speaker 2: remember it. So Nizsic Resonator and Boiler sure both gained
- 1:03:52Speaker 2: more respect for both those cards which are not you know,
- 1:03:55Speaker 2: those don't stand out typically as good cards, right.
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: Right, speaking of fun things with Vargas Revenge, Well, what's uh?
- 1:04:05Speaker 3: I mean?
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: Oh, you're a lot Well, actually, I guess in draft
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: you're not allowed to look at your opponents are concred
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: never mind, No.
- 1:04:11Speaker 3: There is no arc on card. And also I will
- 1:04:14Speaker 3: I will do that. Also, there is no deck adjusting
- 1:04:17Speaker 3: because of the enhancements, right, like if this ever got
- 1:04:22Speaker 3: to be a more competitive format. Uh, the decision was
- 1:04:26Speaker 3: made that once you come and show your enhanced cards
- 1:04:30Speaker 3: that are in your deck, you turn in the remainder
- 1:04:32Speaker 3: of the cards because policing enhancements in a deck that
- 1:04:39Speaker 3: if somebody was to like swap out a car, it
- 1:04:41Speaker 3: would be a nightmare. So absolutely that was the judge
- 1:04:44Speaker 3: in me looking for for uh, you know, trying to
- 1:04:47Speaker 3: help future Marcus from having a hemorrhaging a fit. So
- 1:04:52Speaker 3: that that is something that once you whatever you're draft
- 1:04:54Speaker 3: and your bill, that's what you're kind of stuck with.
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: I hope you're ready to ruling on var gas revenge.
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: Well maybe it's already happened. When somebody's like, I can't
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: remember the name of the card, but I know what
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: it does. Am I allowed to name what it does
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: and hit that card.
- 1:05:13Speaker 3: In sealed?
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:05:15Speaker 3: No, not yet. No, I mean like it because in
- 1:05:19Speaker 3: sealed theoretically you don't know.
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: You don't know, so I could. I could in theory,
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: though I need to name this card, but I can't,
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: Like I can't remember. Uh, I've even now still forgotten it.
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: The uh out idea. No, I like, I can't remember
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: that card to save my life. So if I'm like,
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: I need I need to for gas revenge this card,
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: but I don't.
- 1:05:42Speaker 2: Know the one that Bamboo did. That one does that count?
- 1:05:47Speaker 2: Is that good enough?
- 1:05:48Speaker 3: That's great? But it's not good enough? Not good?
- 1:05:51Speaker 2: There you go, All right, there's your answer.
- 1:05:52Speaker 3: If I like, if somebody came to me and said
- 1:05:56Speaker 3: that right now, unless there was you know, I was
- 1:05:58Speaker 3: given instructions from other people to to ruling differently. Okay,
- 1:06:03Speaker 3: the game designer, I would say, I'm sorry, like you
- 1:06:08Speaker 3: you it's it's just not your lack of game knowledge
- 1:06:14Speaker 3: is not the fault of the game. So it's like,
- 1:06:16Speaker 3: I can't really let you get away with.
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: It because I know this came up in Magic many
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: moons ago.
- 1:06:22Speaker 2: Brian Kibler Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: And it was one of those things where like rules
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: were changed due to it, and I'm like, yep, whatever
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: you need to.
- 1:06:29Speaker 3: I think I wouldn't be surprised if people came out
- 1:06:31Speaker 3: and said that. But I mean, obviously, if you're playing
- 1:06:33Speaker 3: arc On it doesn't matter. You can always look right.
- 1:06:36Speaker 2: Yeah right, yeah, I can agree that con Sealed it's
- 1:06:41Speaker 2: a soft buff to Mars because all the names are ridiculous.
- 1:06:45Speaker 3: Yes it is, yes, Uh. I sometimes wonder how they
- 1:06:50Speaker 3: get made.
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: And that's a we've playing this on a on a
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: last In a past episode, Luke just jams the keyboard
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: and goes tell it's good.
- 1:07:01Speaker 2: I just I just drink too much and leave him voicemails,
- 1:07:05Speaker 2: and I figure the sounds like the way it sounds.
- 1:07:09Speaker 3: I don't want to know how you got his phone number.
- 1:07:16Speaker 2: Here's the thing. He never calls back. It might not
- 1:07:18Speaker 2: be his, So someone's getting some fun voicemails. I don't know.
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: I thought up a new virus card. It's called you.
- 1:07:27Speaker 2: Stop calling this number calling this number?
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: All right, well, ghost Galaxies make this happen. I had
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: so much fun playing this. I think this could be
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: an awesome competitive format. It's not going to be for everybody.
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: I understand that, but I think a lot of people
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: would enjoy it. If you're going to everybody, you got Baltimore,
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: you'll be at Baltimore, right. I believe that's one of
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: the side events is drafts. So if you're going to Baltimore,
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: I highly highly highly highly urge you, even if you
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: don't even if you don't like dr even if you
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: don't like Tach Building, give it a shot.
- 1:08:05Speaker 3: It is. Yeah. I just asked everybody to give it
- 1:08:07Speaker 3: a go. Some people. I have only had a very
- 1:08:13Speaker 3: very small number of people that have said Nope, I
- 1:08:15Speaker 3: don't want to do it. And I'm like, okay, I'm
- 1:08:17Speaker 3: not gonna My.
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: Name is Sheep, just the one that's it. Yeah, there's
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: no other people.
- 1:08:26Speaker 2: I'd be remiss if I didn't throw sheep under the
- 1:08:28Speaker 2: bus about Saint Louis. So I got I got a
- 1:08:31Speaker 2: very special recognition for choosing to play Draft, which is absurd,
- 1:08:36Speaker 2: but I'll take it. And and the reason I wasn't
- 1:08:39Speaker 2: going to play draft is because she pulled me aside.
- 1:08:42Speaker 2: He said, Pete, this is not KeyForge. You need to
- 1:08:45Speaker 2: keep KeyForge pure. And I said, Sheep, I understand, and
- 1:08:49Speaker 2: then I played Draft anyways. So I just wanted to
- 1:08:52Speaker 2: put that out there into the world, that that she
- 1:08:53Speaker 2: is a bad influence.
- 1:08:54Speaker 3: But I think everyone, well, I do appreciate that you
- 1:08:56Speaker 3: being the twenty fourth for that one that makes things
- 1:08:58Speaker 3: so much easier. But the way I look at it is,
- 1:09:01Speaker 3: you know what it Sheep should be happy about it
- 1:09:05Speaker 3: because if it brings one more person in the door,
- 1:09:09Speaker 3: right and then they learn Sheep that the Sheep manifesto
- 1:09:13Speaker 3: and they are able to adopt the sheep sheeply ways,
- 1:09:17Speaker 3: and then then he should be happy, you know. And
- 1:09:20Speaker 3: it means one more person to play a great game
- 1:09:23Speaker 3: that we all love. And that's what it really comes
- 1:09:25Speaker 3: down to, is just providing. You know, That's what all
- 1:09:27Speaker 3: the side events are for, Like given me all these things,
- 1:09:31Speaker 3: a moment in the sun and like I really am
- 1:09:35Speaker 3: very happy with like the way that the prizing works
- 1:09:37Speaker 3: for him. You know, it's it's like you get a prize,
- 1:09:42Speaker 3: you double your your double your the deck that you
- 1:09:45Speaker 3: put into it by finishing in the top half. Yes,
- 1:09:48Speaker 3: and Ghost Galaxy has been very generous and the fact
- 1:09:51Speaker 3: that you know, like when for the draft we ended
- 1:09:55Speaker 3: up having for twenty four players, we ended up having
- 1:10:00Speaker 3: least another twenty four decks put in and that's awesome.
- 1:10:03Speaker 3: I mean, like just a great opportunity for everybody to
- 1:10:08Speaker 3: walk away with some cool stuff.
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: Sorry, sorry, everybody, you heard me talking to the police
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: department just just now, by the way, I did. I
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: did have to make its phone call at work earlier
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: today and unfortunately the Milwaukee Police depart I called them
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: at six and unfortunately the Milwaukee Police Department response, time's yeah,
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: let's let's pick that up on the corner.
- 1:10:37Speaker 2: Yeah, let me let me ask you Marcus.
- 1:10:39Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:10:40Speaker 2: Because I thought so, DM, I feel like it's kind
- 1:10:44Speaker 2: of uniquely suited to draft. It seemed like the low
- 1:10:47Speaker 2: frequency of house pips made those exciting, and then power
- 1:10:51Speaker 2: pips are kind of neat in this context, whereas an
- 1:10:54Speaker 2: ARCon maybe they're not so exciting. What's the next set?
- 1:10:57Speaker 2: I'm asking this, like, you don't already have three or
- 1:10:59Speaker 2: four lined up? What's the next set you think is
- 1:11:01Speaker 2: best suited for draft?
- 1:11:03Speaker 3: Well, I may or may not be literally while I
- 1:11:06Speaker 3: am sitting here working on the next set for Baltimore.
- 1:11:11Speaker 3: So I am hoping that that will come to fruition,
- 1:11:15Speaker 3: and if it does, it will be one of my
- 1:11:19Speaker 3: favorite sets. I will say it's probably one of the
- 1:11:23Speaker 3: ones that I enjoy playing the most, and it is
- 1:11:28Speaker 3: I think one.
- 1:11:29Speaker 5: Of the most intriguing sets in the makeup of the
- 1:11:35Speaker 5: cards that are in it. Just because there's I think
- 1:11:38Speaker 5: you will also be very uniquely suited to drafting and
- 1:11:42Speaker 5: will produce some A tier, B tier and C tier
- 1:11:47Speaker 5: combos that will be pretty exciting to play.
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: And yeah, well you want to well your locals, you
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: want to wager? I guess I already have a guess.
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: I kind of I have an idea from your question.
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: I thought I thought there was one set that immediately
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: came to mind. What's it Ambers, Guys?
- 1:12:11Speaker 3: I think.
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: With the amount of house pip Center in it and
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: the ability to place them, would make dumb things.
- 1:12:21Speaker 2: Happen, absolutely, But I also feel like it's excessive. It's
- 1:12:26Speaker 2: almost embarrassment of wealth, right, whoe would be weird? How
- 1:12:31Speaker 2: to even figure that out? It would take a mad
- 1:12:33Speaker 2: genius and laboratory to figure out how to make a
- 1:12:35Speaker 2: draft set out of woe? And who are we talking to?
- 1:12:39Speaker 3: Wow? That's like, that's that's incredible. How would you make
- 1:12:43Speaker 3: token creatures that? I don't know? I might have to
- 1:12:48Speaker 3: think about that for another six months.
- 1:12:50Speaker 2: Once, once you've heard a man do a Vincent Price
- 1:12:52Speaker 2: impression for an entire audience, you kind of know how
- 1:12:55Speaker 2: his brain works. Okay, well, I'm surprised somebody else what
- 1:13:00Speaker 2: that was.
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: I was. I was just like I didn't know. I
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: was like, to anybody here even know what that is?
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:13:07Speaker 2: I shouted thank you Vincent and I I didn't hear that.
- 1:13:10Speaker 2: We're probably like, that's not his name. His name is Marcus.
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: I did not hear you say that.
- 1:13:15Speaker 3: I was like, oh I did I heard that one?
- 1:13:18Speaker 2: Okay, good, I'm glad. I'm glad.
- 1:13:23Speaker 3: I feel like Josh would be huge.
- 1:13:27Speaker 2: Now it's too much. It's successive. Josh got raight through
- 1:13:29Speaker 2: the Coles last week for his time on the mic. Marcus,
- 1:13:32Speaker 2: I feel like your time on the mic was Oh, yeah,
- 1:13:34Speaker 2: you did well. You listened to it exactly. Yeah, Marcus,
- 1:13:37Speaker 2: your time on the mic was not wasted. Have you,
- 1:13:40Speaker 2: in your past and your history sorted history, perhaps ever
- 1:13:43Speaker 2: been a strip club MC or radio DJ.
- 1:13:45Speaker 3: That's my last question. The radio DJ in college radio.
- 1:13:51Speaker 3: DJU and I have done voiceover work as well a
- 1:13:56Speaker 3: number of things. I like, I I you know, as
- 1:14:01Speaker 3: far as the stripper aspect of it, I can neither
- 1:14:04Speaker 3: confirm her to die that back.
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: So I'm just having fits now of Marcus with a
- 1:14:09Speaker 1: microphone in front of him going now, coming to the now,
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: coming to the pole. kN do ready, And then then
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: the other of G being the strip club connoisseur. It's
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: just all these things, all the stars are aligning. Pete,
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: what are you doing?
- 1:14:27Speaker 2: We have the origin story. We have the origin story
- 1:14:29Speaker 2: in the entire.
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: And now we know how it all happens. G met
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: Marcus at a strip club where he was MC ing
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: for and Josh either that's right. But this is the
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: story we're sticking to, and that's what we're that's what
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: we're sticking to. But we're going to wrap it up here.
- 1:14:45Speaker 3: Again.
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: I highly highly highly like if you are going to Baltimore.
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: That's actually what gave me the like I might want
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: to go to Baltimore because I was like, I could
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: draft more. That was fantastic where I was like, And I.
- 1:14:58Speaker 3: Will also say, if you get me, if there are
- 1:15:03Speaker 3: times I am trying to make enough extra packs at
- 1:15:07Speaker 3: times so that if people want to run a draft
- 1:15:10Speaker 3: pod prior to the draft event, usually I have enough
- 1:15:13Speaker 3: for one or two to be able to do that.
- 1:15:16Speaker 3: So you know, just hit me up at a Vault
- 1:15:20Speaker 3: tour and we get that beautiful draft.
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: Action on the Tennessee will be my next shot.
- 1:15:27Speaker 3: Oh, Tennessee is gonna be a blast.
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: Okay, Marcus will be a Tennessee fantastic, But go try
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: it out. Baltimore coming up in just a few weeks
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: here right, it's the beginning of July, well.
- 1:15:41Speaker 3: After fourth of July, the week after fourth of July.
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: So go to your local Vault. Baltimore is always a
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: blast that that store is absolutely phenomenal, huge store, fantastic
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: place to be. I had a lot of fun in
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: Baltimore last year. Big thanks, thank you Marcus for coming
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: on and talk a diraft with us.
- 1:16:00Speaker 3: Like I said, thanks for the thumbs up. You know,
- 1:16:04Speaker 3: the Wookie Seal of Approval goes along.
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: Right, and now it'll become made because all of Wookie's
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: ideas are immediately stolen by g G.
- 1:16:13Speaker 3: Because you're the prize. That's the right the prize.
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: And and big thanks to Pete coming on and filling
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: in for all of my delinquent misfits.
- 1:16:22Speaker 3: I did my best.
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: Thanks to one, you got one, you got one, bending
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: the need of Mickey. I don't know what trash Car
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: is doing, and I think as far as Sheep always
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: making fun of me for being at work, he's at
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: work right now. What a bump. But thank you everybody.
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: We we missed them all, but thank you all for listening.
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: We'll see you all next week.
- 1:16:49Speaker 2: I defer my parting statement to Vincent Price. Go ahead, sir.
