- 0:10Speaker 1: other on the air.
- 0:11Speaker 4: Flynn is back to throw for the end zone foul.
- 0:16Speaker 1: Live from the Raising Cane Studio.

- 1:18Speaker 2: An incredible service that they have over there at Bayou Automotive.
- 1:22Speaker 2: Go see our friends today. BayouAutomotive.com All right. Obviously, the
- 1:27Speaker 2: thing that we've talked most about today, well, the whole show,
- 1:30Speaker 2: the entire show, is LSU 51 Clemson 10. And it's
- 1:36Speaker 2: a performance on the field that is remarkable.
- 1:40Speaker 3: It's one that.
- 1:43Speaker 2: You've been waiting for, you've been waiting for a dominant
- 1:45Speaker 2: performance like that for a long time against a team
- 1:49Speaker 2: like Clemson. But also like on the outside and Alondra
- 1:54Speaker 2: was alluding to it a little bit earlier, like just
- 1:56Speaker 2: the game day atmosphere for not the best conditions. You
- 2:00Speaker 2: still had 102,321 people in the building.
- 2:06Speaker 3: And I was talking with somebody on the sideline.
- 2:10Speaker 2: It was their first, on the LSU side of things,
- 2:14Speaker 2: and they said, man, is the rain going to kind
- 2:18Speaker 2: of mess up the crowd? Is it not going to
- 2:20Speaker 2: really be full because of this weather, the delay?
- 2:23Speaker 3: It was a long delay. Is it going to mess
- 2:27Speaker 3: up the crowd?
- 2:27Speaker 2: I was like, man, I was like, unless a hurricane
- 2:31Speaker 2: came through here and knocked this stadium over, nothing's going
- 2:34Speaker 2: to mess this up.
- 2:35Speaker 3: He's like, really?
- 2:35Speaker 2: I go, I promise you, whenever kickoff happens, this entire
- 2:39Speaker 2: place will be filled.
- 2:41Speaker 3: And it was.
- 2:41Speaker 2: And that's a credit to you, the fan. That's not fun.
- 2:45Speaker 2: It's not fun to sit there and just get poured on.
- 2:48Speaker 2: It's not fun to have to sit around and be
- 2:51Speaker 2: delayed for two hours. You've got to find something to do.
- 2:54Speaker 2: You've got to kind of embrace the conditions that you're in.
- 2:59Speaker 3: But you didn't go anywhere.
- 3:01Speaker 2: You waited around. You got into the stadium. You dealt
- 3:04Speaker 2: with large crowds. That's the biggest Tiger walk that I've
- 3:08Speaker 2: ever seen and not even remotely close. Typically, like on
- 3:11Speaker 2: big games, right where the– kind of like the little
- 3:15Speaker 2: guard tower is when you go by the stadium, there's
- 3:19Speaker 2: usually about 10 deep to that. It went 10 deep
- 3:23Speaker 2: all the way to Nicholson.
- 3:24Speaker 3: Like I've never in my life seen it like that.
- 3:27Speaker 7: I wish I would have taken a video whenever I
- 3:28Speaker 7: was– trying to get through the crowd to get into
- 3:31Speaker 7: the stadium. Because when I tell you, everybody was just, like,
- 3:35Speaker 7: stopped because nobody could move anywhere. I literally was, like,
- 3:39Speaker 7: trucking people trying to get through. And I finally got
- 3:42Speaker 7: to the other side. And once you got to the
- 3:44Speaker 7: other side, it was fine. But I started to get, like,
- 3:46Speaker 7: a little panicky in the crowd because it was very,
- 3:49Speaker 7: very crowded. And nobody was moving. And people were trying
- 3:53Speaker 7: to move, but you couldn't because there was just a
- 3:55Speaker 7: wall of people.
- 3:56Speaker 5: I was like, man... I wouldn't be surprised if somebody, like,
- 3:59Speaker 5: passes out.
- 4:00Speaker 7: Or gets trampled or something because it was crazy the
- 4:02Speaker 7: amount of people trying to get into the stadium.
- 4:04Speaker 6: Ten deep to Nicholson? You can't even see from over there.
- 4:07Speaker 7: I know.
- 4:07Speaker 5: Like, what are you doing?
- 4:08Speaker 6: I mean, that's cool to talk about, but it sounds
- 4:10Speaker 6: miserable to be in.
- 4:11Speaker 3: Right?
- 4:12Speaker 2: It was wild. And then they weren't letting you cross
- 4:14Speaker 2: at first. And then, like, I was like, look, I
- 4:16Speaker 2: had to pull the old official LSU badge out. I'm
- 4:19Speaker 2: trying to get to the booth to set up to
- 4:23Speaker 2: call this game because I had, like, so many depth
- 4:25Speaker 2: chart questions. Like, I thought I had a pretty good
- 4:28Speaker 2: idea of what it was, but I wanted to go
- 4:29Speaker 2: talk with Bonette and them, like, hey, who's actually going
- 4:32Speaker 2: to be starting? You know, so I wanted to have
- 4:33Speaker 2: those conversations. And so, like, I was having to push
- 4:36Speaker 2: through a bunch of people. But, like, that's a good thing. Like,
- 4:40Speaker 2: we're not complaining at all. Like, that is great.
- 4:43Speaker 3: It's great.
- 4:44Speaker 6: Dude, it's normally 3D Tiger Walk. Look at that.
- 4:47Speaker 3: I mean, I'll give it credit.
- 4:49Speaker 2: Like, on the right side, like, it's always, like, that part,
- 4:52Speaker 2: that part that we're showing right now, like, the very beginning,
- 4:54Speaker 2: it's usually packed.
- 4:55Speaker 3: It really is.
- 4:57Speaker 2: But it was like the people on the PMAC ramps.
- 5:00Speaker 2: It was the people by Mike the Tiger's cage. It
- 5:03Speaker 2: was the people that were by the sports administration building.
- 5:05Speaker 6: People that knew they wouldn't even get a glimpse.
- 5:08Speaker 3: No. They were just hoping.
- 5:09Speaker 6: They were there for the vibes.
- 5:10Speaker 3: They were hoping.
- 5:11Speaker 6: They were hoping that they would walk to Nicholson, then
- 5:13Speaker 6: turn back and go.
- 5:14Speaker 3: The other way.
- 5:15Speaker 6: Right.
- 5:16Speaker 5: It was crazy.
- 5:17Speaker 2: Somebody that, again, was new from Ole Miss that was
- 5:21Speaker 2: asking me, because they did the mock walk last weekend, which, again,
- 5:25Speaker 2: I think all of that was smart. It was people
- 5:27Speaker 2: out there, and they're like, man, this is awesome. I
- 5:29Speaker 2: was like, oh, my God.
- 5:31Speaker 3: Just wait. They're like, really? I go, no, no, no.
- 5:34Speaker 2: I can't explain to you what it's going to be like.
- 5:38Speaker 2: It's going to be, I mean, because we were able
- 5:41Speaker 2: to do it. Even when we get to do it now,
- 5:43Speaker 2: when they're like, hey, we got the 10-year reunion, or
- 5:46Speaker 2: we got whatever, we all come walk down the hill.
- 5:48Speaker 3: Still, it's like, this is a little intimidating. How many
- 5:52Speaker 3: people are out here? All right.
- 5:54Speaker 6: You're watching, you're, you're scrolling through socials. You're y'all laundry.
- 5:58Speaker 6: You were there, Jake, you're trying to get the, but
- 6:00Speaker 6: you know, I'm scrolling through socials to get the vibes
- 6:02Speaker 6: and see, you know, get a vibe check. I had
- 6:04Speaker 6: so many people by the way.
- 6:06Speaker 2: And when I say so many, 35 people ask where
- 6:10Speaker 2: you were 30, like, and that might be low balling it.
- 6:14Speaker 3: Oh, where's Flynn? Like, well, one, we're, you know, we're friends.
- 6:17Speaker 3: We're not a tag team duo. Sure.
- 6:20Speaker 6: Can't go anywhere.
- 6:22Speaker 3: Like where's Flynn?
- 6:23Speaker 6: Like, I don't know.
- 6:25Speaker 2: I don't have him with me right now, but he's
- 6:26Speaker 2: at home because he's a loser.
- 6:29Speaker 6: I mean, 10 deep to Nicholson.
- 6:30Speaker 3: I'm good.
- 6:33Speaker 2: I did tell everybody that. I go, like, he loves LSU.
- 6:36Speaker 2: I said, but I think he hates crowds more.
- 6:40Speaker 6: We'll be in it. Okay, so what's everyone's initial reaction
- 6:44Speaker 6: when you first saw the Tiger Walk and you saw
- 6:46Speaker 6: Theo Vaughn, Livvy, that supermodel chick?
- 6:49Speaker 3: I cringed.
- 6:50Speaker 6: What was y'all's reaction?
- 6:51Speaker 7: I because i kind of to be honest like i
- 6:53Speaker 7: did too it was very.
- 6:54Speaker 6: Cringy to me i didn't think it was like.
- 6:56Speaker 5: It's not a huge deal but i cringe it's not
- 6:58Speaker 5: it's not.
- 6:58Speaker 6: A huge deal at all like not a huge deal
- 7:00Speaker 6: at all but i'm just like i'm like oh why
- 7:02Speaker 6: like why do we.
- 7:03Speaker 2: Uh the one thing like the old man take that
- 7:04Speaker 2: i'll have about that and katie and i were talking
- 7:07Speaker 2: about this the other day or yesterday i guess whatever
- 7:12Speaker 2: that that walk is kind of like earned yeah like
- 7:17Speaker 2: it's it's a very special thing like I feel like
- 7:20Speaker 2: it's a sacred thing. It is, and I even kind
- 7:22Speaker 2: of feel like a little bit of a poser when
- 7:24Speaker 2: we do go back and they're like, hey, we want
- 7:26Speaker 2: y'all to carry this banner for the 10-year reunion of
- 7:29Speaker 2: y'all's championship.
- 7:30Speaker 3: I'm like, okay, cool.
- 7:31Speaker 2: But I still feel like a little bit of a poser.
- 7:34Speaker 2: Stolen dollar a little bit. I think you and I
- 7:37Speaker 2: have earned the right to do it. I'm not saying
- 7:38Speaker 2: we haven't, but not currently. We haven't done a whole lot.
- 7:45Speaker 2: That's even me, including myself, walking down there. I feel
- 7:48Speaker 2: like a little bit of a poser.
- 7:50Speaker 5: It's just very lame, though.
- 7:52Speaker 3: For sure. And people love that. Recruits love that.
- 7:55Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 7:55Speaker 2: Just like the light show at halftime. I had a
- 7:59Speaker 2: lot of people like, what was that? I was like, dude,
- 8:01Speaker 2: recruits eat that stuff up.
- 8:02Speaker 3: True. They just do.
- 8:04Speaker 2: I posted a video of it from the broadcast booth,
- 8:07Speaker 2: just me, just randomly, and it's got 251,000 views because
- 8:13Speaker 2: people want to see stuff like that.
- 8:15Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 8:17Speaker 2: No matter if you love it or not, no matter
- 8:18Speaker 2: what you thought of it, a lot of what you're
- 8:21Speaker 2: going to do in college football now and the walk
- 8:23Speaker 2: down the hill with famous people is the same thing.
- 8:24Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 8:25Speaker 2: Recruits love to see that stuff, and it makes LSU
- 8:28Speaker 2: to the outside look like, oh, man, that's the spot
- 8:30Speaker 2: to be. And so I understand why you do it,
- 8:32Speaker 2: but like I said, I don't even feel comfortable walking
- 8:35Speaker 2: down that hill anymore.
- 8:36Speaker 4: Well, and then a lot of these celebrities, like you'll see, like, okay,
- 8:39Speaker 4: Theo Vaughn, he was all with Diego Pavi and Vandy
- 8:42Speaker 4: last year.
- 8:42Speaker 6: Now he's down here. It's just, yeah, I don't know.
- 8:46Speaker 3: And Theo's my boy. I love Theo.
- 8:48Speaker 2: Theo's hilarious. It has nothing to do with who it was.
- 8:52Speaker 2: I think you're just bringing up the point that it was.
- 8:54Speaker 3: I have no idea. Okay, I don't want to put
- 8:55Speaker 3: words in your mouth then.
- 8:57Speaker 6: I mean, it's the one critique I have. And if
- 9:00Speaker 6: that's the one critique that I have after a game
- 9:02Speaker 6: against Clemson, then that's a great thing. You keep picking
- 9:07Speaker 6: up those blitzes like you did on Saturday night, and
- 9:10Speaker 6: I'll be okay with a lot. Um, but then, but
- 9:13Speaker 6: to your point, it's a little bit of stolen. It
- 9:15Speaker 6: is like a, uh, it's a former, like, and this
- 9:18Speaker 6: is the old man take, but it is a sacred
- 9:20Speaker 6: type situation to be able to earn that right to
- 9:23Speaker 6: walk down the hill. But like you said, it's a
- 9:27Speaker 6: different day and age where you are speaking to recruits
- 9:30Speaker 6: and you are speaking to the cool factor. A lot
- 9:33Speaker 6: of times when, um, you're recruiting not only high schoolers,
- 9:36Speaker 6: but you're recruiting, um, former or other college athletes as well. So,
- 9:41Speaker 6: Would I have done it?
- 9:42Speaker 3: No.
- 9:43Speaker 6: But I'll tell you what, keep picking up those pressures
- 9:45Speaker 6: like that. I'm good.
- 9:48Speaker 2: Taylor, what do you mean you don't get Theo Vaughn?
- 9:52Speaker 3: You don't understand it's comedy?
- 9:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:54Speaker 3: Oh, I do. I think it's hilarious.
- 9:55Speaker 6: I understand that I am in the minority on that. Absolutely.
- 9:58Speaker 3: Yeah, you are. I like that. It's my style.
- 10:02Speaker 6: I think what you're saying, you don't understand, because, like,
- 10:04Speaker 6: last year he was, like, on the Diego thing. And then, like,
- 10:08Speaker 6: Tennessee a little bit, too. And then, yeah.
- 10:11Speaker 3: He's from Louisiana.
- 10:12Speaker 6: Yeah, Slot L, right?
- 10:13Speaker 3: Yeah, that area, yeah. Mandeville, maybe?
- 10:15Speaker 6: I don't understand.
- 10:17Speaker 3: The supermodels. That's Coach Nader's granddaughter. I get it. Okay,
- 10:21Speaker 3: I thought we were going to break news to him,
- 10:23Speaker 3: you know what I mean?
- 10:23Speaker 6: No, I didn't know that.
- 10:24Speaker 3: Because he never usually knows stuff like that.
- 10:26Speaker 6: But, you know, what is she?
- 10:27Speaker 3: I agree with you, though.
- 10:28Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's the one I was like. We
- 10:31Speaker 6: had the Sam Nader impersonation. I even saw her on
- 10:34Speaker 6: the game day thing. I was like, ew.
- 10:39Speaker 3: I didn't get a chance to, like, dial, dial, dial
- 10:41Speaker 3: in the game day. How was it?
- 10:43Speaker 6: I didn't watch game day. It was good.
- 10:45Speaker 2: Typically, like, I'll have it on the background as fodder, but.
- 10:49Speaker 2: I watched a little bit, but just moving around.
- 10:51Speaker 6: A little bit.
- 10:51Speaker 4: Game day is one of those things that, like, as
- 10:53Speaker 4: someone that's watched and been to a lot of them,
- 10:55Speaker 4: I enjoy watching it a lot more than I enjoy
- 10:57Speaker 4: going to it.
- 10:58Speaker 6: It was good.
- 11:00Speaker 5: Yeah, I feel like going to game day is like
- 11:01Speaker 5: a one and done thing.
- 11:02Speaker 3: I've never been to game day.
- 11:03Speaker 5: I just did it that one time.
- 11:04Speaker 6: You've got to get there at, like, 5 a.m.
- 11:06Speaker 4: If you want a good spot. And realistically, you're not
- 11:09Speaker 4: out of there until probably close to 1.30 a.m.
- 11:12Speaker 6: With all the traffic.
- 11:12Speaker 2: I've only been to game day once. I did like
- 11:15Speaker 2: a little hit on it one time. I think probably
- 11:17Speaker 2: the same thing for you. I know you did one
- 11:18Speaker 2: a couple years ago as well. Probably the only time
- 11:20Speaker 2: you've been to game day, right?
- 11:22Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 11:22Speaker 3: Yeah, me too. It was fun. Yeah, no, it's a
- 11:24Speaker 3: great time, but you got to be committed.
- 11:26Speaker 6: It does kind of look like a place.
- 11:28Speaker 3: At the time you went, like you were there at dark.
- 11:30Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 11:30Speaker 6: I remember.
- 11:30Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 11:31Speaker 7: My neighbor and I got up at like five in
- 11:32Speaker 7: the morning, hit up Waffle House, and then we went
- 11:35Speaker 7: over there. And I feel like we got there late,
- 11:36Speaker 7: but still got a pretty okay spot.
- 11:38Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 11:38Speaker 5: Like I got that time on TV.
- 11:39Speaker 3: The fact that you got up at five and you
- 11:41Speaker 3: got there a little late. Yeah. Nah, I'm good.
- 11:43Speaker 6: Feels like one of those things you got to really
- 11:44Speaker 6: commit to.
- 11:44Speaker 1: Yes.
- 11:45Speaker 6: And kind of like going to Times Square for New
- 11:48Speaker 6: Year's Eve. I would never do that. Like they tell
- 11:51Speaker 6: those people you got to wear a diaper. You ain't
- 11:55Speaker 6: getting out of the... I'm telling you, Pete. If you
- 11:56Speaker 6: go to Times Square on New Year's Eve, you got
- 11:57Speaker 6: to wear a diaper because they don't let you leave
- 11:59Speaker 6: the barriers. And you get in there 20 hours before the... Yep,
- 12:03Speaker 6: wearing diapers. They wear diapers as human adults. We just
- 12:06Speaker 6: going to.
- 12:07Speaker 3: Pee on ourselves.
- 12:07Speaker 6: To watch the... No, on the diaper. That I saw
- 12:10Speaker 6: on TV.
- 12:11Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 12:12Speaker 7: If I'm going to do something like that, I need
- 12:13Speaker 7: a separate little area for myself.
- 12:16Speaker 5: You know what I mean? Like, I need to be
- 12:17Speaker 5: up there with Andy and.
- 12:20Speaker 6: Anderson.
- 12:20Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah. Doesn't Ryan Seacrest do that still? I don't know.
- 12:25Speaker 7: The one that I always see is Andy Cohen and
- 12:28Speaker 7: Anderson Cooper.
- 12:30Speaker 6: The broadcast lost its fastball. It did.
- 12:33Speaker 3: Yeah, once Dick Clark passed away.
- 12:35Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean, crowd was electric.
- 12:43Speaker 5: Again, loudest I have heard. I couldn't talk to Chris
- 12:45Speaker 5: by me.
- 12:47Speaker 7: Like right next to me, I couldn't talk to Chris
- 12:48Speaker 7: because the crowd was so loud.
- 12:50Speaker 2: So, you know, typically, so when you have your headphones
- 12:53Speaker 2: on and you're calling the game, you can hear pretty clear.
- 12:56Speaker 2: Like I hear Chris Blair and he's got, you know,
- 12:58Speaker 2: obviously the voice. There was a time I kept turning
- 13:01Speaker 2: him up a little bit. I kept turning him up
- 13:03Speaker 2: a little bit. I'm like something wrong with my headphones.
- 13:05Speaker 2: And because I could hear him, but it was kind
- 13:07Speaker 2: of a little bit more faint than it normally is.
- 13:08Speaker 3: And so I did like this.
- 13:09Speaker 2: I get my headphones and I take them off like
- 13:11Speaker 2: this to kind of adjust something. And oh, my God,
- 13:15Speaker 2: I was like, oh, that's why I can't hear you.
- 13:17Speaker 2: It was it was a third down. it might have
- 13:21Speaker 2: even been like in the second or third quarter. Like
- 13:23Speaker 2: it wasn't like the beginning of the game by any means.
- 13:26Speaker 2: Whenever Clemson had to take a timeout, I don't remember
- 13:29Speaker 2: when that was.
- 13:30Speaker 3: I'm not sure.
- 13:31Speaker 2: But all I know is the second quarter, I remember
- 13:34Speaker 2: taking my headset off to kind of try to adjust
- 13:37Speaker 2: some things on the dial. And I was like, this
- 13:40Speaker 2: is top three loudest I've ever heard this place. And
- 13:45Speaker 2: it's hard to get that from the booth because you're
- 13:47Speaker 2: a little bit inside.
- 13:48Speaker 3: So you're not fully in the elements. I can't imagine.
- 13:51Speaker 5: That's what I was about to say.
- 13:52Speaker 3: What it was like down there on the field.
- 13:53Speaker 7: Because even in the press box, it's a little not
- 13:55Speaker 7: as loud as when you're out there. It's a little muted,
- 13:59Speaker 7: but it was still super loud.
- 14:01Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 14:02Speaker 6: Hey, you know what we really haven't done this morning?
- 14:05Speaker 6: We've done a little bit of it. Now, we've talked about,
- 14:06Speaker 6: of course, the entire game, and we've talked a lot
- 14:08Speaker 6: about watching some film. We watched a couple of really
- 14:10Speaker 6: good clips. We really haven't talked too much about the
- 14:14Speaker 6: entirety of the defensive performance and Blake Baker's just bad-ass-ed-ness.
- 14:21Speaker 3: When we come back, Blake Baker's badassness. What did you
- 14:24Speaker 3: call it?
- 14:24Speaker 7: Badassness.
- 14:25Speaker 5: Badassness.
- 14:26Speaker 6: Badassness.
- 14:29Speaker 3: We'll work on that. We'll workshop that.
- 14:31Speaker 6: No, it's perfect. Is it?
- 14:34Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 14:34Speaker 6: Badassness.
- 14:36Speaker 3: Acidness.
- 14:36Speaker 2: I don't know. We'll workshop it. We'll do that because
- 14:41Speaker 2: you're right. In a game like this, there's so much.
- 14:44Speaker 2: There's the team stats of the 38 first downs and
- 14:47Speaker 2: all those things.
- 14:48Speaker 3: And we showed a defensive clip.
- 14:50Speaker 2: But I do think, and it's important and a good
- 14:52Speaker 2: point by you, we need to kind of break down
- 14:54Speaker 2: the individual levels of what we saw because that was
- 14:57Speaker 2: a unit that was good last year.
- 14:58Speaker 6: This year they could be scared.
- 15:00Speaker 2: But now they've got a complimentary offense to not put
- 15:03Speaker 2: them in the worst positions possible. So we'll talk about
- 15:07Speaker 2: that as well when we come back here on OTV.
- 15:10Speaker 5: Off the bench.

- 16:35Speaker 1: Off the Bench with Hester and Flynn, presented by Bayou Automotive.
- 16:42Speaker 3: Just took myself All right, welcome back in.
- 16:45Speaker 2: OTB here live from the Raising Cane Studio. Monday shows
- 16:48Speaker 2: brought to you by Bayou Automotive, bayouautomotive.com. And we are
- 16:52Speaker 2: talking LSU and Clemson all day long. LSU 51-10 over
- 16:57Speaker 2: the Clemson Tigers. And certainly the offense did their part,
- 17:00Speaker 2: but my God was the defense dominant.
- 17:02Speaker 3: They had four sacks.
- 17:04Speaker 2: They had 11 tackles for loss.
- 17:07Speaker 3: 11.
- 17:08Speaker 2: They got after Clemson and... It was a lot of
- 17:12Speaker 2: different ways. It was a lot of different people.
- 17:15Speaker 3: It was fast. It was aggressive.
- 17:19Speaker 2: It was violent. It was so many different things. And
- 17:22Speaker 2: it was Whit Weeks. And it was T.J.
- 17:25Speaker 6: Dottery.
- 17:26Speaker 3: Gosh, it was T.J. Dottery all over the place.
- 17:28Speaker 2: What an addition that was to have a veteran next
- 17:30Speaker 2: to Whit Weeks. Gives you some flexibility because, like, we
- 17:35Speaker 2: saw they had a rotation. Like, Devon Keyes was able
- 17:38Speaker 2: to come in and spell Whit Weeks and still have
- 17:40Speaker 2: a T.J. Dottery next to him. And so you've got
- 17:43Speaker 2: some veteran linebacker depth there. And so Wood Weeks could
- 17:45Speaker 2: come take a breather and then go back in on
- 17:48Speaker 2: a third down and pressure the quarterback. Umami Ellen off
- 17:52Speaker 2: the edge, different speed. Jordan Ross, a player that we
- 17:55Speaker 2: highlighted a lot of times here in the offseason. Because
- 17:59Speaker 2: the conversation, like, Umami Ellen, like, it should be there.
- 18:02Speaker 2: We get that part of it, but it's like, don't
- 18:04Speaker 2: forget about Ross. Because you go to practice and it's like,
- 18:07Speaker 2: his first step is elite.
- 18:08Speaker 3: We saw that.
- 18:09Speaker 6: He's going to be one of those names that everybody
- 18:11Speaker 6: kind of knows towards by the end of the season.
- 18:14Speaker 2: No, I think you're spot on with that. And so
- 18:16Speaker 2: there's a lot of different things to highlight. I thought
- 18:18Speaker 2: the scheme was awesome. All three levels, you had guys
- 18:21Speaker 2: making plays. The speed though was probably, I would say
- 18:25Speaker 2: the biggest difference for me because the edge rushers again
- 18:28Speaker 2: for LSU were waiting on the skill players to get
- 18:31Speaker 2: to the edge for Clemson. Like, Some of their game
- 18:35Speaker 2: plan for Clemson was to try to get to the
- 18:37Speaker 2: edge with speed, and you just didn't have the advantage there.
- 18:40Speaker 2: And then they were running those 2012 screens, those jailbreak
- 18:44Speaker 2: screens that are long developing, and LSU's defense is just
- 18:47Speaker 2: too fast for that.
- 18:49Speaker 3: Every time they did it, I'm like, thank you for
- 18:51Speaker 3: doing that. I appreciate it.
- 18:53Speaker 2: But if you think that you're going to be able
- 18:55Speaker 2: to make hay off of that, LSU's going to be
- 18:57Speaker 2: able to put their foot in the ground and redirect
- 18:59Speaker 2: and get back into those lanes that you're trying.
- 19:01Speaker 3: To free up.
- 19:02Speaker 6: So it worked with Deshaun Watson at Clemson.
- 19:05Speaker 3: That's what it felt like. Yeah. They just had no answers.
- 19:09Speaker 3: It felt like an outdated.
- 19:10Speaker 2: Offense trying to do things in 2026 that you just
- 19:14Speaker 2: can't do against a physically gifted defense.
- 19:16Speaker 6: Let me say, like, schematically what LSU is able to
- 19:20Speaker 6: do because of– mostly because of– Blake Baker installing those type.
- 19:27Speaker 6: But having carryover with the coaching staff.
- 19:30Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 19:31Speaker 6: Of course, there's no carryover in the offensive, thankfully. But
- 19:34Speaker 6: on the defense staff, you do carry over a lot
- 19:36Speaker 6: of coaches. And you can also do things because you've
- 19:39Speaker 6: got veteran leadership.
- 19:42Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 19:44Speaker 6: One of the biggest pickups that Lane had, we've talked about,
- 19:47Speaker 6: in in the portal was keeping what weeks and keeping
- 19:50Speaker 6: blake baker those are some of the best transfer transfer
- 19:53Speaker 6: portal pickups or retains that that uh that lane kiffin
- 19:57Speaker 6: had um so you're able to do a lot so
- 19:59Speaker 6: what you're throwing at a quarterback is so much to
- 20:02Speaker 6: decipher so much to see It's just, it's very taxing,
- 20:07Speaker 6: very challenging for a college level quarterback when you can
- 20:10Speaker 6: run and execute those types of plays on defense, those
- 20:13Speaker 6: types of defenses. It was just very, it was extremely
- 20:17Speaker 6: impressive to watch from all three levels, the defensive line,
- 20:20Speaker 6: the linebacker level, the back end. But I texted y'all
- 20:24Speaker 6: during the game. I said, Prince, well, he's going to,
- 20:27Speaker 6: he's going to ensure that Blake Baker is the assistant
- 20:29Speaker 6: coach of the year in the country.
- 20:31Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 20:31Speaker 6: Like, because what Blake was able to do a year
- 20:34Speaker 6: ago with royals award is the name of it.
- 20:36Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 20:36Speaker 6: Whatever. Um, broiled chicken royals. Um, what he's able to
- 20:44Speaker 6: do last year with lacking the ability to get any
- 20:49Speaker 6: pressure on a quarterback with your front four.
- 20:52Speaker 7: Right.
- 20:53Speaker 6: This year, that guy is looks the part he's physically present. He,
- 20:57Speaker 6: he can make the, the, uh, the curve like, If
- 21:01Speaker 6: he can make that turn, he can rip and get
- 21:03Speaker 6: around that corner very quickly. He is going to have
- 21:06Speaker 6: a couple of games where it's like, oh, okay, that's
- 21:08Speaker 6: a two- or three-sack game for him. The addition of
- 21:12Speaker 6: him is going to open up so much for this defense.
- 21:16Speaker 6: And what Blake Baker is able to install, and because
- 21:18Speaker 6: of the leadership and the older veterans that they have,
- 21:21Speaker 6: they're able to handle that mental load as well and
- 21:24Speaker 6: be able to play free, fly around, and be able
- 21:26Speaker 6: to operate and execute a lot of different defenses Just
- 21:30Speaker 6: extremely impressive. And like you said, Jordan Ross is going
- 21:32Speaker 6: to be a household name by the end of the
- 21:34Speaker 6: season based on what I've seen so far. Those two linebackers,
- 21:39Speaker 6: TJ Daugherty, Whit Weeks, I mean, if they can maintain
- 21:42Speaker 6: their health and play like that. You're talking about playing
- 21:47Speaker 6: the game downhill, read and react really fast. Whit Weeks
- 21:53Speaker 6: has got it. He's got that sixth sense about him
- 21:57Speaker 6: that when he– visually see he works his keys right
- 22:01Speaker 6: out there was one play where the tight ends lined
- 22:03Speaker 6: up to his side and you could tell it's man
- 22:04Speaker 6: to man you could tell that he hasn't as soon
- 22:06Speaker 6: like this split second as soon as he sees the
- 22:09Speaker 6: tight end go across shot the gap he shot the
- 22:11Speaker 6: gap so he the tight end goes across the formation
- 22:14Speaker 6: he said this isn't my guy anymore and he shot
- 22:16Speaker 6: the gap tackle for a loss i got i was
- 22:19Speaker 6: on third down it was i texted y'all during i
- 22:20Speaker 6: was like that was a hell of a play by
- 22:23Speaker 6: a week and it.
- 22:24Speaker 2: Was it was immediate there was no thought process there
- 22:26Speaker 2: was no false step and.
- 22:27Speaker 6: That That's what's going to make this defense dominant is
- 22:33Speaker 6: the lack of hesitation that they have when they play
- 22:35Speaker 6: the game. And that's why I say there's one thing
- 22:37Speaker 6: to install all these different defenses and all these responsibilities.
- 22:41Speaker 6: It's another to be able to coach it for the
- 22:43Speaker 6: players to retain it and execute it with no hesitation.
- 22:46Speaker 6: On defense, if your skilled players on defense can play
- 22:51Speaker 6: an entire game with zero hesitation, you are going to
- 22:55Speaker 6: be feared.
- 22:57Speaker 2: Somebody will try to take advantage of the aggressive nature. Like,
- 23:01Speaker 2: at some point, they're going to try to take advantage
- 23:02Speaker 2: of the aggressive nature and try to give them something.
- 23:04Speaker 2: That's what I was just about to say. You're going
- 23:06Speaker 2: to give up some because of it, but you're going
- 23:08Speaker 2: to be better overall because of it.
- 23:10Speaker 3: Like, the pros heavily outweigh the cons in that kind
- 23:14Speaker 3: of a defense. Yep. I think, yeah, sure, they'll get
- 23:16Speaker 3: one on you because you are so aggressive.
- 23:20Speaker 4: Like, you can try to take advantage of the aggressive nature,
- 23:23Speaker 4: but I think LSU's a lot better in the secondary.
- 23:27Speaker 6: Than a lot of people realize. So, like, that's still
- 23:29Speaker 6: going to be tough. No, it is.
- 23:31Speaker 2: I mean, and that's why you can be aggressive is
- 23:33Speaker 2: because you have belief in your secondary. But, again, like,
- 23:36Speaker 2: they'll try to get it. Maybe they get something. Maybe
- 23:40Speaker 2: they show the same look, and then they've got a
- 23:42Speaker 2: crosser trying to come across right where Whit Weeks leaves,
- 23:44Speaker 2: and they try to hit it on a shallow cross
- 23:47Speaker 2: and try to, you know, beat contain, all of those things.
- 23:49Speaker 3: But, still, you've got to do all that. Like, it
- 23:51Speaker 3: has to work. You have to have time to do that.
- 23:53Speaker 3: We just say Whit Weeks won't get there.
- 23:54Speaker 2: But you will have some teams that try to say,
- 23:57Speaker 2: can't stop it but what can we do to try
- 23:59Speaker 2: to use it against them and we'll see if anybody's
- 24:00Speaker 2: able to do.
- 24:01Speaker 6: So yeah and again to kind of put a kind
- 24:04Speaker 6: of cap off just us this defensive performance from this
- 24:07Speaker 6: week one eight first downs they gave up and i
- 24:10Speaker 6: believe it was one in the first half a lot
- 24:12Speaker 6: of those first downs came towards the end of the
- 24:13Speaker 6: game um clemson was one of 13 on third down
- 24:17Speaker 6: conversion that's less than eight percent 145 total yards for
- 24:20Speaker 6: clemson that's 105 passing 40 rushing 11 tackles for loss
- 24:22Speaker 6: 23 minutes time of possession. 1.5 yards per rush that
- 24:34Speaker 6: they gave up. So, in comparison, LSU had 644 total
- 24:39Speaker 6: yards offense. Clemson, 145. So, a dominant performance on both
- 24:46Speaker 6: sides of the ball.
- 24:47Speaker 2: Three of the eight first downs came on the last
- 24:48Speaker 2: drive for Clemson when the threes were in.
- 24:50Speaker 3: Yep. So... Yep. And again.
- 24:53Speaker 2: The twos that came in for LSU with some guys
- 24:57Speaker 2: that would be considered ones sprinkled in there, they didn't
- 25:00Speaker 2: do anything.
- 25:01Speaker 3: It took the full threes to get in for LSU.
- 25:05Speaker 2: A lot of the true freshmen, a lot of the
- 25:07Speaker 2: guys that are special teams, war daddies, for Clemson to
- 25:10Speaker 2: move the football. The first two units. And the thing
- 25:12Speaker 2: that I loved about it, the coaches were pissed that
- 25:17Speaker 2: they scored.
- 25:18Speaker 3: I love it. Pissed.
- 25:19Speaker 6: I love it.
- 25:20Speaker 2: They were so mad. They were mad that they gave
- 25:24Speaker 2: up the field goal. I'm like, you didn't give him
- 25:25Speaker 2: any yards. You gave him two yards. They were mad
- 25:27Speaker 2: about that. But like, I was, that's what I was
- 25:30Speaker 2: paying attention. I'm like, I'm looking at lane. I'm looking
- 25:33Speaker 2: at Blake. I'm looking at all the defensive coaches on
- 25:35Speaker 2: the sideline. Hell, I'm even kind of leaning over, looking
- 25:37Speaker 2: in the booth a little bit. Cause I'm right next
- 25:38Speaker 2: to the coaches. And I'm like, I want to see
- 25:40Speaker 2: how they react to this touchdown. They were mad, like
- 25:44Speaker 2: boiling mad because they, they expect from that unit to
- 25:49Speaker 2: be the same as the first unit. Now, It's not
- 25:52Speaker 2: going to be, but that's what the expectation was. And
- 25:54Speaker 2: they weren't okay giving up that late touchdown. You were
- 25:56Speaker 2: up 48 points, and you were mad that you gave
- 25:59Speaker 2: up a touchdown. That has to be your mindset as
- 26:02Speaker 2: a coach. You're not over there laughing, high-fiving each other,
- 26:06Speaker 2: being like, ah, we won by 41.
- 26:08Speaker 3: No.
- 26:09Speaker 2: You have to have that relentless, aggressive nature throughout the
- 26:13Speaker 2: entire game. And I saw that, and that's one of
- 26:15Speaker 2: the things I love, that they were that angry, that
- 26:17Speaker 2: upset that they gave up the touchdown.
- 26:19Speaker 6: Yeah, that's great. It's a great mindset to have. And
- 26:21Speaker 6: certainly you've got to think about it, too, long term.
- 26:23Speaker 6: This could be a 15, 16-game season, or you've got
- 26:26Speaker 6: to at least hope it is. So a lot of
- 26:28Speaker 6: those guys you will have to rely on at some
- 26:30Speaker 6: point to take meaningful snaps. So you want that performance
- 26:33Speaker 6: to not change throughout. So, hey, LSU folks, we've been
- 26:40Speaker 6: able to find a lot of money. And you might
- 26:42Speaker 6: as well just start putting a little war chest together
- 26:45Speaker 6: and get ready to try to maintain, retain.
- 26:48Speaker 3: Blake Baker again.
- 26:49Speaker 6: I don't know. I don't know if we, what do
- 26:51Speaker 6: you think? 10 million?
- 26:53Speaker 3: Pass the hat. I don't know.
- 26:54Speaker 6: Pass the hat, whatever it takes.
- 26:56Speaker 3: Pass the hat in the corral.
- 26:56Speaker 6: Is he the highest paid assistant right now?
- 26:59Speaker 2: He was, I believe at one time. I don't know
- 27:01Speaker 2: if he still is, but if he's not, you know what?
- 27:02Speaker 2: Let's give him $ 1 more.
- 27:04Speaker 3: Double it.
- 27:05Speaker 6: Double what you got.
- 27:06Speaker 3: $ 1 more. Whatever that, whatever that number is.
- 27:11Speaker 6: Actually, I, Matt Patricia. Best dressed, too, I feel like.
- 27:14Speaker 6: Best dressed coach out there.
- 27:15Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 27:15Speaker 6: By far.
- 27:16Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 27:16Speaker 6: The yellow with the purple hat. He's second.
- 27:19Speaker 3: The baseball hat.
- 27:20Speaker 5: Matt Patricia's first.
- 27:23Speaker 7: By 75,000.
- 27:25Speaker 3: Oh, okay. Not that much. Matt Patricia's been an NFL
- 27:28Speaker 3: head coach. Yeah.
- 27:29Speaker 6: Like, whatever you're making now, just double it. Pass it out.
- 27:32Speaker 5: Will Muschamp making 2.7 million.
- 27:33Speaker 3: That doesn't surprise me. Well, I thought you said Patricia. Yeah. But, like,
- 27:37Speaker 3: I knew they were going to.
- 27:38Speaker 5: But, also, we talked about this at the time, like,
- 27:40Speaker 5: The defense was in Texas' problem, so.
- 27:43Speaker 2: No, that was a surprising move when it happened. Do
- 27:46Speaker 2: you want to show that week's play when we get back?
- 27:47Speaker 2: Because I think it's pretty.
- 27:49Speaker 6: Yeah, I got to find it.
- 27:50Speaker 5: How about that seven? How about that seven on weeks?
- 27:53Speaker 3: Looked good.
- 27:53Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 27:54Speaker 3: It looked good on it for sure.
- 27:55Speaker 4: Yeah, I was not sure about it because I've gotten
- 27:57Speaker 4: so used to 40, but I loved it.
- 27:59Speaker 2: Because, you know, 40, I mean, 40 is a linebacker number,
- 28:03Speaker 2: so it looked right.
- 28:05Speaker 3: But, yeah, seven looked good on him. That 18 patch, though.
- 28:10Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying? I did keep kind of
- 28:15Speaker 3: looking for it a little bit. I'm like, oh, yeah, patch.
- 28:16Speaker 6: It does look better when it's small and you can't
- 28:18Speaker 6: see it.
- 28:22Speaker 1: Jeez.
- 28:23Speaker 3: He's going to be bitter until the day he dies. Oh, wait,
- 28:26Speaker 3: Phillip Wright wearing 15?
- 28:27Speaker 6: Yeah, he is.
- 28:28Speaker 3: Yeah, there you go. First time somebody's worn that in
- 28:31Speaker 3: a long time. We'll take a break.
- 28:34Speaker 2: We'll show you the week's play when we come back.
- 28:36Speaker 2: And weekend winners, it'd be all LSU probably. If somebody
- 28:39Speaker 2: has one, they can. speak up in the next couple
- 28:42Speaker 2: of segments but it's all else you like we'd give
- 28:44Speaker 2: you a full weekend winner probably of the lsu fighting
- 28:46Speaker 2: tiger so that's why all right we'll take a break
- 28:48Speaker 2: more otb when we come.
- 28:49Speaker 1: Back off the bench all.
- 28:52Speaker 2: Right go to trash rangers.com trash rangers.com residential commercial trash
- 28:55Speaker 2: pickup service roll-off dumpsters three different sizes to choose from
- 28:59Speaker 2: make sure you have the right size on your job
- 29:01Speaker 2: give them a call tell them what you have and
- 29:02Speaker 2: they're going to make sure that you have the right

- 29:58Speaker 1: Off the Bench with Hester and Flynn, presented by Bayou Automotive.
- 30:15Speaker 2: All right. Welcome back in OTB here live from the
- 30:18Speaker 2: Raising Cane Studio. Monday shows brought to you by Bayou Automotive.
- 30:23Speaker 6: All right.
- 30:23Speaker 2: We're going to go back to the film room now,
- 30:25Speaker 2: and we're going to pull up a defensive play.
- 30:27Speaker 3: That I got two here.
- 30:30Speaker 7: Oh.
- 30:30Speaker 3: So it's got two.
- 30:31Speaker 6: Okay.
- 30:31Speaker 3: See, can't do just one. All right.
- 30:34Speaker 2: We want to give the defense some more love because, well,
- 30:36Speaker 2: they were outstanding as well.
- 30:38Speaker 3: Mr. Matthew Flynn, take it away.
- 30:39Speaker 6: That's right. We are going to highlight your defensive number seven, Mr. Whitweeks.
- 30:45Speaker 6: Two plays that were fantastic. We want to talk about
- 30:48Speaker 6: playing downhill. We want to talk about not hesitating. We
- 30:51Speaker 6: want to talk about read and react and playing with
- 30:54Speaker 6: your hair on fire, play with aggression, tackle through, not
- 30:57Speaker 6: tackle two. You ready? All right. So we're going to
- 31:00Speaker 6: go here. And obviously, you're watching body language in college.
- 31:05Speaker 6: It's not really hiding his body language too much. You know,
- 31:07Speaker 6: he's in a sprinter stance here in.
- 31:10Speaker 3: The second level. Both linebackers are. That's right. So, okay.
- 31:13Speaker 6: So you have a couple of things to read here.
- 31:15Speaker 6: So you start off this way. You got three over two, right?
- 31:18Speaker 6: You do have a running back to here. You got
- 31:19Speaker 6: him standing up.
- 31:20Speaker 3: He could peel.
- 31:21Speaker 6: So three over two. You always got to be alert
- 31:23Speaker 6: when you have something like that for pressure as a quarterback. But,
- 31:26Speaker 6: of course, you also have middle safety very low. So
- 31:29Speaker 6: you have to be alert, especially after they've already shown
- 31:31Speaker 6: you some cross dogs. You're on high alert as a
- 31:34Speaker 6: quarterback when you see this situation, you see this body language.
- 31:38Speaker 6: So they are going to run a play here. And
- 31:41Speaker 6: Will Weeks is pumping up the crowd here. Let's go,
- 31:43Speaker 6: let's go, let's go. And, of course, this isn't really
- 31:46Speaker 6: reading much by him. This is just shooting the gap
- 31:48Speaker 6: without hesitation.
- 31:49Speaker 3: Now, a terrible job.
- 31:50Speaker 6: This was highlighted on social media as well. Terrible job
- 31:52Speaker 6: by the left tackle here, by Clemson. But you want
- 31:55Speaker 6: to talk about play with no hesitation, shoot the gap,
- 31:58Speaker 6: tackle through, and hold on.
- 32:00Speaker 3: Just because they mess up doesn't mean you slow down. No.
- 32:04Speaker 6: Yeah, so I'm assuming the left tackle probably should try
- 32:07Speaker 6: to make the block here. Let's see if we can
- 32:09Speaker 6: decipher what kind of run and play this was. A
- 32:11Speaker 6: little bit of late communication here by Clemson. So, crowd noise.
- 32:17Speaker 6: You got to think. There's a lot of crowd noise.
- 32:18Speaker 6: He has to come up and talk. You don't know.
- 32:20Speaker 6: Left tackle might not get what they're talking about right here.
- 32:23Speaker 6: I'd like to bring it. Yeah, bring it on, bees. Yeah,
- 32:30Speaker 6: I'm going to assume the left tackle just didn't get
- 32:32Speaker 6: the adjustment here. But you go through, tackle through. Beautiful
- 32:36Speaker 6: gang tackle. Get them on the ground. All right, let's
- 32:38Speaker 6: go to the next play. This is the one kind
- 32:40Speaker 6: of we started talking about last segment, about reading and reacting.
- 32:46Speaker 6: I'm going to go to the end zone copy. So
- 32:48Speaker 6: they are in man-to-man coverage here. So we have a
- 32:52Speaker 6: tight end. I'm assuming this is tight end.
- 32:54Speaker 3: Yeah, number 11, yeah.
- 32:55Speaker 6: The tight end, Whit Weeks, you can just tell by eyes.
- 32:58Speaker 6: He's looking in the back here. Whit Weeks looking at him.
- 33:00Speaker 6: Whit Weeks has got 11 man-to-man. If he releases out
- 33:03Speaker 6: into a pass, if he goes to the flat, if
- 33:05Speaker 6: he runs a corner. Now, if he goes to the
- 33:07Speaker 6: other side of the ball, he then probably doesn't become
- 33:11Speaker 6: his man anymore. But certainly, if he blocks, Whit Weeks
- 33:16Speaker 6: knows it's a running play. So you want to talk
- 33:19Speaker 6: about in a split second as a D, a good linebacker.
- 33:22Speaker 6: And a good linebacker reads his keys, reads his cues,
- 33:24Speaker 6: and also you've got to play with a little feeling.
- 33:26Speaker 6: You've got to play with a gut feeling as well.
- 33:28Speaker 6: You know, like good cops, good detectives go with their gut. Well,
- 33:31Speaker 6: a good linebacker kind of does the same, and most
- 33:33Speaker 6: of the times that gut feeling is correct. So 11
- 33:37Speaker 6: goes across the ball. Whitweeks doesn't hesitate because he knows
- 33:40Speaker 6: what he's got, and he knows– His responsibilities. Shoot the gap.
- 33:45Speaker 6: Do not let the guard get back out on you.
- 33:48Speaker 6: Tackle through the thigh. And that is textbook linebacker play.
- 33:55Speaker 6: Read the gap. Do not hesitate. Move full speed. Play
- 33:58Speaker 6: like your hair's on fire. And then explode into that
- 34:01Speaker 6: thigh right there. Yeah, and this guard has no chance.
- 34:04Speaker 6: He's trying to. He's trying to. He's not his responsibility.
- 34:08Speaker 3: He's not.
- 34:08Speaker 2: But he's trying to because he sees how fast he is.
- 34:11Speaker 2: His responsibility is TJ Doddard.
- 34:12Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 34:12Speaker 2: But he tries to leave it because it's the most
- 34:14Speaker 2: dangerous man. So he actually gets effective where two guys
- 34:18Speaker 2: are free because Witt is so fast. In doing what
- 34:22Speaker 2: he's doing and shooting this gap that the guard's like, man,
- 34:25Speaker 2: I got to take him.
- 34:25Speaker 6: And the guard gets stepped on. If he didn't get
- 34:28Speaker 6: stepped on, maybe he gets a hand on him, hand presence.
- 34:31Speaker 6: But the guard's responsibility here and the guard's center, guard's
- 34:34Speaker 6: center should be working up to six right here. Now,
- 34:36Speaker 6: with this technique, because he's shaded on the center, it's
- 34:39Speaker 6: the guard's responsibility.
- 34:40Speaker 3: You got to get up there.
- 34:41Speaker 6: If he was over here in more of a three technique,
- 34:45Speaker 6: then the center would go up and the guard would
- 34:47Speaker 6: block the tackle. But the tackle, so this is not
- 34:50Speaker 6: a blitz by Whitwigs. Now, if he was blitzing, the
- 34:53Speaker 6: tackle would squeeze. He's not blitzing. He's just reading his
- 34:56Speaker 6: key and this tackle, beautiful. That's why he's one of
- 34:59Speaker 6: the best linebackers in the country.
- 35:01Speaker 2: Go back to when he's, like, about to kind of engage,
- 35:04Speaker 2: and you'll see, like, this little dip right there.
- 35:07Speaker 3: Yep.
- 35:08Speaker 2: Just a little bit of a dip with his left shoulder,
- 35:10Speaker 2: but still keeps his shoulders square and never slows down.
- 35:15Speaker 3: Like. That part of it to me is like just
- 35:17Speaker 3: understanding everything.
- 35:18Speaker 6: You know what the slow motion button on this thing is?
- 35:20Speaker 3: I can't remember. I think it's D maybe. Oh, look
- 35:25Speaker 3: at that. Right there.
- 35:27Speaker 2: Just a little, just a sudden dip and never really
- 35:30Speaker 2: breaks his stride, but also doesn't turn his shoulders, keeps
- 35:34Speaker 2: him square so the guard can't get that hand on him.
- 35:37Speaker 6: You know what else I love about this play? This
- 35:39Speaker 6: play lasted maybe 1.25 seconds from snap to him being
- 35:43Speaker 6: on the ground. Check this out. On the ground. One, two, three, four, five,
- 35:49Speaker 6: six yellow hats standing over the ball.
- 35:51Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 35:52Speaker 6: And that is what you call team defense. That's what
- 35:56Speaker 6: you call swarming defense. That's what you call defense with
- 35:58Speaker 6: an attitude. And that's what you call a defense going
- 36:00Speaker 6: forward that could be feared and not just good.
- 36:06Speaker 3: Try to get to some of the comments.
- 36:07Speaker 2: Crazy how the All-22 is easily available after we deliver
- 36:10Speaker 2: a butt whipping.
- 36:12Speaker 3: We got children in here. What do you mean? No,
- 36:16Speaker 3: we have it all the time. We have it all
- 36:17Speaker 3: the time.
- 36:18Speaker 2: This isn't from LSU. Like, this is our film that
- 36:22Speaker 2: we're watching.
- 36:23Speaker 3: It's not from LSU.
- 36:24Speaker 2: They didn't just send it over because of the butt whipping.
- 36:27Speaker 2: We just got sad last year.
- 36:29Speaker 6: No, it was actually kind of. Last year we watched
- 36:32Speaker 6: a lot of tape.
- 36:34Speaker 3: A lot of bad tape.
- 36:34Speaker 6: It wasn't very good. And it was like rage watching
- 36:37Speaker 6: a little bit.
- 36:38Speaker 3: It was.
- 36:39Speaker 6: Now we're joy watching. Is that a thing?
- 36:43Speaker 3: I think so.
- 36:45Speaker 6: Anyway, we're watching.
- 36:45Speaker 5: I think they just call that regular watching.
- 36:47Speaker 6: Just regular watching. Watching film. Hey, guess what? It doesn't matter.
- 36:50Speaker 6: We're watching film in the actual football season. It's been
- 36:54Speaker 6: a long time.
- 36:54Speaker 3: It's been a very long time.
- 36:55Speaker 6: Yeah, I get it. I didn't give you much breakdown
- 36:58Speaker 6: like this in baseball or basketball.
- 36:59Speaker 3: People are wondering where the baseball breakdowns like this were.
- 37:03Speaker 3: I know. It's crazy.
- 37:05Speaker 5: I need you to do like pitching.
- 37:06Speaker 6: Pretty much the same thing.
- 37:07Speaker 5: Do you know Pitching Ninja on Instagram?
- 37:09Speaker 7: No.
- 37:11Speaker 5: He does like.
- 37:12Speaker 3: We should do that.
- 37:12Speaker 6: Pitching breakdown.
- 37:13Speaker 3: I'll do that.
- 37:13Speaker 5: That's what I need you to do.
- 37:14Speaker 6: I'll do that.
- 37:15Speaker 5: I need you to break down mechanics.
- 37:16Speaker 6: Completely uneducated take on pitching mechanics.
- 37:19Speaker 3: I love it. I love that play that you just
- 37:22Speaker 3: showed so much.
- 37:24Speaker 6: There's so many. There's a lot of good plays. We still, like,
- 37:26Speaker 6: on all the film that I've showed y'all, we still
- 37:27Speaker 6: haven't got out of the first quarter.
- 37:31Speaker 2: Except, like, we went to one play, but we picked
- 37:33Speaker 2: that one out.
- 37:34Speaker 3: The walk-in touchdown third quarter. That was it.
- 37:38Speaker 6: Oh, that's true. You're right.
- 37:39Speaker 7: You know what the best part of the entire game was?
- 37:42Speaker 7: Cookie with a fire extinguisher on the sideline.
- 37:45Speaker 6: That's pretty good. It was good.
- 37:47Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah. Oh, Cookie.
- 37:49Speaker 6: And then getting carried on the shoulders after the game.
- 37:52Speaker 3: Yep.
- 37:53Speaker 6: Doing it again.
- 37:54Speaker 5: Shout out to Cookie.
- 37:55Speaker 3: By the way, Cookie came to my football camp. That
- 37:58Speaker 3: kid can spin it.
- 37:59Speaker 7: Can he?
- 38:00Speaker 3: Oh, my gosh. He can spin it.
- 38:01Speaker 6: He's pretty good.
- 38:02Speaker 5: That's my goat.
- 38:03Speaker 3: Pretty good.
- 38:03Speaker 6: I saw a tweet.
- 38:04Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 38:07Speaker 4: Because Clemson was walking right by and it said, imagine
- 38:09Speaker 4: being down 40 points on national TV and you're getting
- 38:11Speaker 4: sprayed in the face by a nine-year-old.
- 38:13Speaker 6: I was like, yeah, that's a bad feeling. He's not nine.
- 38:15Speaker 6: He's like 11.
- 38:16Speaker 3: He's like 11.
- 38:17Speaker 6: That's just what the tweet said, guys.
- 38:18Speaker 3: 11.
- 38:19Speaker 6: Fact check your tweets, people. I mean, the audacity.
- 38:23Speaker 3: All right. Yeah, I mess up on grammar on Twitter
- 38:27Speaker 3: all the time. I never do.
- 38:30Speaker 1: Oh, well.
- 38:30Speaker 3: Later, Rod. All right, we'll take a break. We'll wrap
- 38:33Speaker 3: it up.

- 39:48Speaker 1: Off the Bench with Hester and Flynn, presented by Bayou Automotive.
- 39:56Speaker 6: All right, welcome back here. Off the Bench closing out
- 40:04Speaker 6: the show after that sweet, sweet taste of victory this
- 40:07Speaker 6: past weekend. About to get to Ask the Bench, brought
- 40:10Speaker 6: to you by Ice Cold Dos Equis. But first, I
- 40:12Speaker 6: want to tell you about our friends over at Caterus.
- 40:14Speaker 6: Caterus is awesome. When you think about Louisiana, you think
- 40:16Speaker 6: about energy and one company helping shape the future is Catalyst. Catalyst,
- 40:20Speaker 6: developing the Commonwealth LNG Export Facility in Cameron Parish, connecting
- 40:23Speaker 6: American natural gas with customers around the world. Now under
- 40:26Speaker 6: construction after reaching its final investment decision in 2026, the
- 40:30Speaker 6: project represents a major investment in Louisiana's future. But it's
- 40:34Speaker 6: about more than just exporting energy. It's about creating local jobs,
- 40:37Speaker 6: supporting local businesses, strengthening communities, and reinforcing Louisiana's position as
- 40:41Speaker 6: one of the world's leading energy hubs. Lewis Natural Gas
- 40:44Speaker 6: Production and the Commonwealth LNG Project. Caterus is helping build
- 40:47Speaker 6: an integrated energy platform that connects domestic resources with the
- 40:52Speaker 6: growing global demand. As construction continues on Louisiana's Gulf Coast,
- 40:56Speaker 6: Caterus is proud to invest in American energy, American workers,
- 40:59Speaker 6: and a stronger economic future. Caterus, connecting Louisiana energy to
- 41:03Speaker 6: the world.
- 41:07Speaker 2: All right, Matt, you've got a special guest up here.
- 41:10Speaker 3: Anytime that.
- 41:10Speaker 6: Who's up?
- 41:11Speaker 2: Anybody's out of school, we're going to have a Flynn
- 41:13Speaker 2: or a Hester child up here. For some reason, they
- 41:15Speaker 2: like waking up early and coming to work.
- 41:17Speaker 6: They do not like sleeping in like I did as
- 41:20Speaker 6: a child. They're like, yeah, can I wake up at
- 41:22Speaker 6: 530 and go to radio with you? So I got
- 41:25Speaker 6: a couple of questions. Maybe these ones, you know, we'll just,
- 41:28Speaker 6: you know, yeah, whatever. Who's up here? I'm gonna put
- 41:36Speaker 6: this mic down. Who is LSU football's head coach? All right. Okay.
- 41:45Speaker 3: All right.
- 41:46Speaker 6: Who did LSU beat this past Saturday night?
- 41:53Speaker 7: I don't know.
- 41:56Speaker 6: Was that Clemson you said?
- 41:58Speaker 5: She did say Clemson.
- 41:59Speaker 6: All right. You got one out of two.
- 42:01Speaker 3: Good job.
- 42:02Speaker 6: You win.
- 42:04Speaker 3: Yay. Good job.
- 42:05Speaker 6: All right. Good job.
- 42:06Speaker 4: All right.
- 42:06Speaker 2: Let's get to the little Ask the Bitch. Why do
- 42:10Speaker 2: I see no U-High film being played? We don't have
- 42:12Speaker 2: access to the U-High film.
- 42:14Speaker 3: Taylor did a great job on the call, though.
- 42:17Speaker 2: It was a great high school football game.
- 42:18Speaker 6: It was a really good game.
- 42:20Speaker 3: U-High, I think, was not supposed to really be close.
- 42:23Speaker 2: And U-High led the entire game outside of, obviously, the
- 42:26Speaker 2: last minute or so. Rummel makes a good comeback. They
- 42:29Speaker 2: were down two scores with like six minutes left. U-High
- 42:32Speaker 2: not able to make the play. J-Bones had a couple
- 42:35Speaker 2: of good plays in there.
- 42:36Speaker 3: Great. overall effort by the uhi cubs.
- 42:39Speaker 2: Uh trying to punch up there against the 5a team
- 42:41Speaker 2: they play like that so we'll be talking about the
- 42:44Speaker 2: uhi cubs for a lot of the year there tay tay.
- 42:48Speaker 4: Shout out to the dunham tigers jay bones was also
- 42:50Speaker 4: i told you matt we snuck in two jay bones.
- 42:52Speaker 6: References on the broadcast oh we.
- 42:54Speaker 2: Got them in there yeah dunham went up to uh
- 42:56Speaker 2: bozer city to care parkway breaks off your shoe poor.
- 43:00Speaker 3: Joe didn't land because i'd let you know they're in bozer.
- 43:04Speaker 6: Hey he had no rebuttal that's 100% of the shots
- 43:06Speaker 6: you don't take you know.
- 43:08Speaker 2: Donovan Catholic this weekend?
- 43:11Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 43:11Speaker 3: Ooh, that's going to be a good game.
- 43:14Speaker 2: I mean, I know it's, you know, when you're playing 5-8,
- 43:17Speaker 2: like the depth issues kind.
- 43:19Speaker 3: Of come into it.
- 43:19Speaker 6: The line of scrimmage is challenging. Because the skill positions
- 43:23Speaker 6: can match up pretty good.
- 43:24Speaker 3: It's going to be a good game. I mean, obviously
- 43:26Speaker 3: Catholic played one of the best teams in the country.
- 43:28Speaker 2: And Catholic doesn't lose 61 to 27 very often.
- 43:34Speaker 3: Carrollton, Georgia?
- 43:35Speaker 6: Yeah. They're like. Top 10 in the country. They're nationally ranked.
- 43:39Speaker 3: All of their best players were sophomores.
- 43:41Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 43:41Speaker 2: The Carrollton team. And Catholic has the return trip next year.
- 43:45Speaker 6: Still don't know how you rank high schools nationally. It's hard. But,
- 43:48Speaker 6: I mean.
- 43:48Speaker 3: They do it.
- 43:49Speaker 6: Good for y'all.
- 43:51Speaker 3: Ask the bitch.
- 43:51Speaker 6: I think I got that one right.
- 43:52Speaker 3: How similar was this game to 07 Virginia Tech?
- 43:56Speaker 6: Probably a decent comp.
- 43:58Speaker 3: Probably.
- 43:58Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 43:58Speaker 3: I mean, because, like, Virginia Tech in 07, that was
- 44:00Speaker 3: like football utopia.
- 44:02Speaker 6: And they finished top 10.
- 44:02Speaker 3: Everything we did was. Yeah, they played in the Orange
- 44:04Speaker 3: Bowl that year.
- 44:05Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 44:06Speaker 3: Everything we did worked. That game.
- 44:08Speaker 2: We had a couple of special things that we hadn't
- 44:11Speaker 2: really done. We never really came back to them, which
- 44:13Speaker 2: I always kind of question from our guy Gary Croton,
- 44:15Speaker 2: but we had some offensive things in that game.
- 44:17Speaker 6: That was the last game I didn't have a... I
- 44:21Speaker 6: got that high ankle sprain in the third quarter that game.
- 44:22Speaker 3: That's true.
- 44:23Speaker 6: After that, we couldn't do some.
- 44:24Speaker 3: Of the things. Those ankle braces you had to wear.
- 44:28Speaker 2: Ask the bench, did Flynn ever keep the ball instead
- 44:30Speaker 2: of handing it to Hester?
- 44:32Speaker 3: Probably.
- 44:33Speaker 6: Probably should have done it more.
- 44:34Speaker 3: Selfish.
- 44:38Speaker 6: See how white this guy is? It's unbelievable.
- 44:42Speaker 3: I can't argue that.
- 44:44Speaker 2: Ask the bench. Now the football season has started. Who's
- 44:46Speaker 2: the first member of the Wolfpack to take a vacation day?
- 44:51Speaker 3: I'm not going to.
- 44:53Speaker 2: I don't have any NFL responsibilities, and I don't think, like, game-wise,
- 44:57Speaker 2: I think we start that in, like, the postseason. So
- 45:00Speaker 2: I don't think I'm going to. I don't think. I'm
- 45:03Speaker 2: going to LSU games, but that's after this show on
- 45:05Speaker 2: Fridays when.
- 45:05Speaker 3: We leave, so.
- 45:07Speaker 6: I'd like to take one.
- 45:08Speaker 5: I mean, I might do something bi-week.
- 45:10Speaker 3: Oh. I think a laundry, actually, is the answer here.
- 45:14Speaker 5: Yeah, I probably will.
- 45:15Speaker 3: A laundry's going to go home at some point. Yeah. Yeah.
- 45:19Speaker 3: Taylor's whole family lives here.
- 45:20Speaker 6: Yeah, and we ain't going nowhere anytime soon. Tell you what,
- 45:23Speaker 6: I know my wife would like us to take a
- 45:25Speaker 6: weekend at some point.
- 45:27Speaker 3: You said that a couple times.
- 45:28Speaker 5: October 31st, bi-weekend.
- 45:31Speaker 6: That's Halloween, though. You can't go anywhere for that.
- 45:33Speaker 5: Yeah, you can. It's not like a law saying that.
- 45:35Speaker 6: Matt's like, everything's closed. Yeah, but we got trick-or-treaters.
- 45:39Speaker 2: Hashtag ask the bench. Lane Kiffin is 0 for 1
- 45:42Speaker 2: on three-point shots. What will his percentage be at the
- 45:46Speaker 2: end of the year?
- 45:47Speaker 3: It was nice. It hit the rim, rolled out.
- 45:50Speaker 6: Honestly, if we play like that, I hope it's 0
- 45:52Speaker 6: and 16.
- 45:53Speaker 3: Just to keep it the same?
- 45:55Speaker 6: Actually, it'd be 0 and 15. I guess we get
- 45:56Speaker 6: the 5.
- 45:59Speaker 3: Paul, did you all see Everton's goal there at the death,
- 46:02Speaker 3: the last kick of the game?
- 46:04Speaker 1: No.
- 46:04Speaker 2: To steal two points from Manchester United.
- 46:06Speaker 3: Yeah, that was awesome. It was awesome.
- 46:11Speaker 5: Shout out Everton.
- 46:11Speaker 3: It was incredible. Last kick of the game. Guys outside
- 46:14Speaker 3: the box. Goes upper left.
- 46:16Speaker 6: They're playing total football over there?
- 46:18Speaker 3: No, they're playing soccer. It was awesome.
- 46:21Speaker 6: Commie ball?
- 46:22Speaker 3: You can say what you want. It was awesome. I
- 46:24Speaker 3: did one of those.
- 46:26Speaker 6: Let's go.
- 46:27Speaker 3: I'm Jake.
- 46:29Speaker 5: I bet the people at Pelican and Mars are going crazy.
