- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with iHeartRadio.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Today we have a very very special episode, an exciting
- 0:09Speaker 2: episode for the Almost Famous podcast. We have a very
- 0:11Speaker 2: happy newlywed couple, one of which participated on the Bachelor
- 0:17Speaker 2: and Bachelor in Paradise. We also got to witness her
- 0:20Speaker 2: first wedding. Now this wedding comes a few years later, Ashley,
- 0:27Speaker 2: somebody that you're a big fan of. I'm a big
- 0:28Speaker 2: fan of two we're a big fan of at the
- 0:30Speaker 2: Almost Famous podcast. But somebody that you really respect and
- 0:33Speaker 2: enjoy talking to.
- 0:34Speaker 3: Yeah, let's surprise everyone and have on Crystal Nielsen and Myles.
- 0:39Speaker 3: Oh my god, what is your last name?
- 0:42Speaker 4: Balls?
- 0:43Speaker 3: Bowl bowls bowls as in bo w l e s.
- 0:49Speaker 5: Correct that.
- 0:51Speaker 3: First questions easy? Then Crystal, you're taking his last name.
- 0:55Speaker 4: I've already taken it. Instagram official, babe.
- 1:00Speaker 3: Okay, there's one thing up on Instagram official and then
- 1:04Speaker 3: actually being the actual legal bowls. I am on Instagram haven.
- 1:11Speaker 3: But like you're telling me that you have a new license,
- 1:13Speaker 3: a new passport and stuff.
- 1:15Speaker 4: So I've been planning I am planning on doing it.
- 1:17Speaker 4: I like signed over my marriage certificate with my new
- 1:20Speaker 4: name and I was like, when I come back from
- 1:23Speaker 4: the honeymoon, because that's just too much to handle before
- 1:25Speaker 4: the wedding.
- 1:26Speaker 6: Like, I'll do all the legal stuff this.
- 1:28Speaker 3: Week, So what inspired you to get it done so quickly?
- 1:33Speaker 4: I just want to get it done because now that
- 1:35Speaker 4: I'm using I'm a type a personality kind of once
- 1:39Speaker 4: I get my mind to something, nothing will stop me.
- 1:42Speaker 4: But also like it's confusing because sometimes I'm using Crystal Bowl,
- 1:46Speaker 4: sometimes I'm using Crystal Nielsen, and I'm like, I just
- 1:49Speaker 4: need like one name and just do it all at
- 1:51Speaker 4: one time. And that was what the lady when we
- 1:54Speaker 4: did our marriage license actually said. She's like, just do
- 1:57Speaker 4: it all at once, so it's done.
- 2:00Speaker 3: Teach me how to do it. It's my license, my passport,
- 2:04Speaker 3: and then what else do I need to do to
- 2:06Speaker 3: make it official? Because I do want an official for
- 2:08Speaker 3: Dawson's sake. Even like when we go on planes now,
- 2:11Speaker 3: they'll be like, can I see your ID? Because like
- 2:13Speaker 3: the names don't match, and I know that, you know,
- 2:17Speaker 3: they're just like being extra careful and making sure I'm
- 2:19Speaker 3: not kidnapping him totally.
- 2:21Speaker 4: Well, let me just say, like make sure he's always
- 2:23Speaker 4: put on your lap as an infant because we ran
- 2:25Speaker 4: into a situation where we forgot it at our daughter
- 2:28Speaker 4: and they literally thought.
- 2:30Speaker 6: Miles's kidnapping her. She is a spitting image of her father.
- 2:35Speaker 3: Yes, she is so cute?
- 2:38Speaker 7: All right?
- 2:38Speaker 3: So is that all I have to do?
- 2:40Speaker 6: So you know what, I'm going to research it? I
- 2:42Speaker 6: can text. I'm gonna I'm gonna text you. I'm gonna
- 2:44Speaker 6: let you know how to do it, because I've heard
- 2:46Speaker 6: you can go to a website and they just do
- 2:48Speaker 6: it all do for you. Yeah, they do it all
- 2:50Speaker 6: for you.
- 2:51Speaker 3: I think they can organize the plans for you, but
- 2:53Speaker 3: then you still have to go into all these offices. Anyway,
- 2:56Speaker 3: we're boring the people. We got to hear about your wedding.
- 2:58Speaker 2: Obviously, the two of you excitedly got married, married life
- 3:04Speaker 2: just off the bat.
- 3:05Speaker 7: How is it treating you so far?
- 3:08Speaker 5: That's great?
- 3:10Speaker 8: It's fun because we've been i mean unofficially married for
- 3:13Speaker 8: like the last I guess three years now, but something
- 3:18Speaker 8: definitely feels different different. We got rings on our fingers now.
- 3:25Speaker 2: So you just said you've been what officially married for
- 3:28Speaker 2: three and a half years? Is that what you said?
- 3:30Speaker 2: Unofficially married? So is that starting? Is the three and
- 3:34Speaker 2: a half years starting with when you first met or
- 3:36Speaker 2: is there a time period like this feels like we're
- 3:38Speaker 2: already married.
- 3:40Speaker 5: I guess when we knew we were gonna have a kid.
- 3:45Speaker 8: It's probably when things started to take a little more serious.
- 3:48Speaker 7: Yeah, well that makes sense. Yeah, I get started.
- 3:51Speaker 2: I said, So, okay, if we can flash back in
- 3:55Speaker 2: time and christ I know we've been able to talk
- 3:56Speaker 2: to you about this, I would love to hear both
- 3:59Speaker 2: of your thoughts. Really, Uh, if we can flash back
- 4:01Speaker 2: in time to when you found out that you were
- 4:04Speaker 2: going to have a child. Uh, you were not married
- 4:06Speaker 2: at the time. I'm was it planned? Unexpected? Was their shock?
- 4:11Speaker 7: Was there?
- 4:12Speaker 5: You know?
- 4:12Speaker 2: What was the world like back then? And then I
- 4:15Speaker 2: will follow it up with what's life like now?
- 4:18Speaker 9: Go ahead?
- 4:19Speaker 6: Baby?
- 4:19Speaker 8: Oh I'm taking this one. Okay, it was unexpected. We
- 4:25Speaker 8: talked about it a little bit, but it was definitely unexpected.
- 4:28Speaker 8: We were like six months into dating at that point.
- 4:32Speaker 5: Three for three months into dating.
- 4:36Speaker 2: Uh so yeah, a little faster than some Yeah, I
- 4:38Speaker 2: mean that's fine.
- 4:40Speaker 8: Yeah, and uh yeah, that was definitely we both had
- 4:43Speaker 8: to decide that that was something we want to move
- 4:46Speaker 8: forward with. And we had a pretty serious talk about commitment.
- 4:51Speaker 8: At that point, I'm going being all in. And that's
- 4:54Speaker 8: why I say, you know, we kind of started unofficially
- 4:57Speaker 8: being married from that point, uh, but this was when.
- 5:01Speaker 5: We really.
- 5:03Speaker 8: Made it official. And it does feel different and good
- 5:05Speaker 8: in a good way.
- 5:06Speaker 6: Yeah, And I will say too.
- 5:08Speaker 4: But like a week before we found out we were pregnant,
- 5:10Speaker 4: we talked like we went over our finances. Miles shared
- 5:14Speaker 4: me with me his four oh one K and like
- 5:16Speaker 4: our and I happened to show him I was going
- 5:18Speaker 4: to be ovulating on Christmas Eve, you know, like we
- 5:21Speaker 4: knew like.
- 5:21Speaker 6: We were all in.
- 5:24Speaker 4: And then a week later we found out we were pregnant,
- 5:27Speaker 4: so you know, we'd already really committed to each other.
- 5:30Speaker 4: And yeah, I was like shocking and exciting, and the
- 5:34Speaker 4: moment that, of course there was also like scary. There
- 5:38Speaker 4: was so much going on. We were like in COVID.
- 5:41Speaker 4: There was just so much uncertainty. And I remember Miles
- 5:45Speaker 4: like came over one day with like a notebook or
- 5:47Speaker 4: his computer and he wrote out like twenty questions for
- 5:50Speaker 4: us to go over together and decide like if we
- 5:54Speaker 4: were all in, if we were like doing this, and
- 5:58Speaker 4: he just really stole my.
- 5:59Speaker 2: Heart see I hear this, and I think that might
- 6:03Speaker 2: be the most romantic thing anybody's ever done. I really like,
- 6:06Speaker 2: for me, romance is something important to me. You're not
- 6:10Speaker 2: I'm not building a picnic, but intentionality figuring out if
- 6:15Speaker 2: you're on the same page and if you are committing
- 6:18Speaker 2: to it and doing it well, I think is one
- 6:20Speaker 2: of the most romantic gestures. So you had talked about
- 6:24Speaker 2: this was like shocking at the time, but not necessarily
- 6:28Speaker 2: something you were like, not something that like popped up
- 6:31Speaker 2: and you're like, oh my gosh, I don't know this person,
- 6:33Speaker 2: like this is this this could go really good or
- 6:36Speaker 2: really bad. You you had kind of walked into that phase.
- 6:40Speaker 4: Yeah, we were solemn with each other and we were
- 6:43Speaker 4: planning on.
- 6:46Speaker 6: Building our family.
- 6:47Speaker 4: I just don't think we thought it would happen as
- 6:49Speaker 4: quickly as it did. But I mean, really like going
- 6:52Speaker 4: through that whole process, Miles really just taught me about
- 6:56Speaker 4: I mean he just kept saying like just trust me,
- 6:58Speaker 4: like have faith in us, like like we can do this.
- 7:01Speaker 4: I'm here, I'm not going anywhere, because I was like
- 7:04Speaker 4: all over the place, and he really just like tethered
- 7:06Speaker 4: me and pulled me in and just made me feel
- 7:10Speaker 4: really safe and strong, and you know, I kind of
- 7:12Speaker 4: worked that into our first bouts, just how much it
- 7:14Speaker 4: meant to just have a good man that was raised
- 7:19Speaker 4: very very well to build my life with. And for me,
- 7:23Speaker 4: like I didn't really have the healthiest relationships like in
- 7:28Speaker 4: my past, and so when you are dating someone that's new,
- 7:34Speaker 4: like you sometimes don't really recognize it. So for me,
- 7:37Speaker 4: it was a lot of an inner journey too, of
- 7:40Speaker 4: detangling things and patterns and the past and being willing
- 7:45Speaker 4: to step into a new life and a new way
- 7:47Speaker 4: of doing things, in a new way of loving. And
- 7:50Speaker 4: so that's really what our marriage is built on and
- 7:53Speaker 4: our foundation.
- 7:54Speaker 6: And you know, this is my guy.
- 7:57Speaker 7: This is my guy.
- 8:00Speaker 10: So Christil, I have to ask, how did this planning
- 8:04Speaker 10: process compare to your first, Like did it feel like
- 8:07Speaker 10: it was your first real wedding because the other bachelor
- 8:10Speaker 10: did the other?
- 8:12Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean like ABC produced everything and it really
- 8:16Speaker 4: was like on a set for a show, so I
- 8:21Speaker 4: didn't really have my hands in any of the planning.
- 8:23Speaker 4: It was very nice, you know, because I just sent
- 8:25Speaker 4: over some printer sport and spo and that everything else
- 8:28Speaker 4: was handled and I just really showed up so I
- 8:30Speaker 4: definitely felt more of like way more involved in the
- 8:34Speaker 4: planning process and a little more of like the stress. However,
- 8:37Speaker 4: we had really really great wedding planners, which is what
- 8:40Speaker 4: I would tell any bride to do is get a
- 8:42Speaker 4: really good planning team, So I did feel more involved
- 8:47Speaker 4: in it.
- 8:47Speaker 6: It did feel real, primarily.
- 8:49Speaker 4: Because who we got to invite, Like it was all
- 8:52Speaker 4: people that we got to invite, because like the first
- 8:55Speaker 4: time around, combined, we could only bring thirty people, including
- 9:00Speaker 4: Idol party like to that ABC wedding, So it was
- 9:02Speaker 4: just a bunch of strangers that I didn't know, who
- 9:05Speaker 4: also weren't really invested in us, because again, they were
- 9:08Speaker 4: there on a TV show.
- 9:11Speaker 7: I'm glad I got. I was a part of the thirty.
- 9:13Speaker 2: I don't know where my invite come from came from,
- 9:15Speaker 2: but I'm going to assume it's just from you personally.
- 9:17Speaker 2: And it wasn't a part of the show that I
- 9:19Speaker 2: got the private invite.
- 9:21Speaker 10: One of the thirty private invites.
- 9:23Speaker 7: Yeah that's what I want.
- 9:26Speaker 4: So yeah, that's just felt special, and it was like
- 9:28Speaker 4: all of our people that were there for us, and
- 9:31Speaker 4: there wasn't my girls crying in the bathroom, like taking
- 9:34Speaker 4: away from like the wedding. You know, it was our
- 9:37Speaker 4: weekend and that felt really special.
- 9:51Speaker 7: You know, there's so much here, Miles. Obviously for you
- 9:53Speaker 7: to walk into my wife.
- 9:57Speaker 2: Different circumstances, but similar in a lot of ways too.
- 10:01Speaker 2: You know, walked into a relationship with me while I'm
- 10:06Speaker 2: best known for a relationship with somebody else. Questions that
- 10:11Speaker 2: she gets even today in passing sometimes like hey, uh,
- 10:18Speaker 2: have you watched the show? You know the you know,
- 10:22Speaker 2: they ask about that experience and all that. Miles, I
- 10:26Speaker 2: would love to just.
- 10:26Speaker 7: Hear your.
- 10:29Speaker 2: Journey now marrying somebody from the show who's also very
- 10:33Speaker 2: well known for relationship on the show.
- 10:37Speaker 5: Yeah, it's interesting. I didn't. I didn't know that. You
- 10:39Speaker 5: shared that.
- 10:42Speaker 6: Miles has never seen The Bachelor. He actually has no idea.
- 10:47Speaker 7: I don't know what you're missing out.
- 10:49Speaker 8: There were three episodes of the latest season. I think
- 10:52Speaker 8: this is a few years ago, but yeah, I haven't.
- 10:54Speaker 8: I didn't really follow The Bachelor, so I Christal was.
- 10:58Speaker 8: I think it was a good thing in the start
- 10:59Speaker 8: of our relationship because I didn't have that that background
- 11:03Speaker 8: to mess up our you know, authentic connection, and we've
- 11:09Speaker 8: been set up through a friend and so okay for me,
- 11:13Speaker 8: there really none of that kind of filtered in until uh,
- 11:17Speaker 8: we were talking about and you know, when we got
- 11:19Speaker 8: a little more serious, when she was talking about announcing it.
- 11:22Speaker 8: That's when kind of the reality of like this is
- 11:23Speaker 8: a big deal, like Crystal is, you know, nervous to
- 11:28Speaker 8: announce it. That's when it kind of started to become
- 11:31Speaker 8: a bigger deal. And I think I've largely avoided most
- 11:35Speaker 8: of the negative, I guess or more positive aspects of
- 11:40Speaker 8: it because I'm not very involved on social media, but
- 11:44Speaker 8: starting to get a little bit more involved.
- 11:47Speaker 2: I think the positive it can even be a negative,
- 11:50Speaker 2: like just getting it brought up is odd, no matter
- 11:53Speaker 2: if it's even coming from a good place. It's it's
- 11:55Speaker 2: weird to think of the person that you love and
- 11:57Speaker 2: that you're committed to, and the person you know in
- 11:59Speaker 2: your love story that you know, there's a lot of
- 12:02Speaker 2: grit in depth there, like you guys have really had
- 12:04Speaker 2: to come together as a couple sooner and also stronger
- 12:09Speaker 2: than most have to in their relationship, and so then
- 12:11Speaker 2: to hold you know, Crystal so tightly, and then also
- 12:16Speaker 2: to just even the positive of like, oh, Miles, you're
- 12:19Speaker 2: so much better than the last like that's just not
- 12:22Speaker 2: a great comment, but you get it, and then you
- 12:24Speaker 2: have to just kind of like be like, all right,
- 12:26Speaker 2: I get it, I'm done, I'll move on. Doesn't affect
- 12:28Speaker 2: my relationship, So I'm glad you've avoided it. I hope
- 12:31Speaker 2: you continue to.
- 12:33Speaker 8: Yeah, it truthfully hasn't been Uh, it hasn't played too
- 12:36Speaker 8: much a role in our relationship, only a positive one.
- 12:41Speaker 4: I don't think it has because yeah, Miles isn't involved
- 12:44Speaker 4: in social media, so he's just not.
- 12:47Speaker 10: I don't know.
- 12:48Speaker 4: And then we're a little more like home bodies as
- 12:50Speaker 4: opposed to like the previous life.
- 12:52Speaker 6: I lived, you know. And so I will say, like
- 12:55Speaker 6: for me, it's it's always.
- 12:57Speaker 4: Like, you know, like wanting to move forward, you know,
- 12:59Speaker 4: and then having old things like brought up or there's
- 13:03Speaker 4: like articles and it's like, oh, by the way, here's
- 13:05Speaker 4: we're linking all Crystal's previous wedding and all that stuff.
- 13:09Speaker 6: I'm like, guys, let's move forward.
- 13:11Speaker 4: But I guess we just have to understand like it's
- 13:13Speaker 4: just part of the part of the story and part
- 13:14Speaker 4: of the history and what makes our relationship so great.
- 13:17Speaker 8: There's definitely been some cool, cool aspects of it. Getting
- 13:22Speaker 8: to meet Ashley and go on trips like that. That's
- 13:26Speaker 8: all been very cool and it's it is a surreal
- 13:30Speaker 8: experience to go from relative obscurity to being kind of
- 13:36Speaker 8: thrown into the front page of various articles and stuff.
- 13:42Speaker 5: Yeah, it's a little weird, but it can be fun.
- 13:44Speaker 8: It has been interesting and a little fun and.
- 13:49Speaker 5: Exciting.
- 13:50Speaker 3: I guess, well, this this weekend, you're getting those headlines.
- 13:53Speaker 3: You know, you're in the pictures with Crystal, you know
- 13:56Speaker 3: when E News and US Weekly are reporting it on Instagram.
- 14:00Speaker 3: So can we talk a little bit about wedding dats totally?
- 14:06Speaker 3: I hate that, I said. Dates. Okay, well speaking, you're
- 14:08Speaker 3: on cloud nine. You know, you just came back from
- 14:11Speaker 3: your honeymoon last night. Where was it?
- 14:13Speaker 6: We went to Combo Oh very nice.
- 14:16Speaker 4: Okay, land by the pool for five straight days.
- 14:22Speaker 3: So the plan was to have no plans there. Pretty much,
- 14:28Speaker 3: very nice.
- 14:30Speaker 6: We were have dinner.
- 14:32Speaker 3: I know that where the wedding took place was a
- 14:35Speaker 3: very special place for you guys, multiple things in your
- 14:38Speaker 3: relationship have happened there.
- 14:39Speaker 5: Can you tell everyone it's where we first met.
- 14:44Speaker 8: So, like I said, Crystal and I were introduced through
- 14:46Speaker 8: friend and she actually knows my mom or knew my
- 14:51Speaker 8: mom before we met, and so came over kind of
- 14:54Speaker 8: under that guys, and that's how we were first introduced,
- 14:56Speaker 8: and then we had our first date.
- 14:58Speaker 3: There is this place.
- 15:01Speaker 5: It's my parents house.
- 15:06Speaker 6: D Yeah, but it's a very nice it's beautiful.
- 15:09Speaker 3: Yeah, that's why I wasn't quite sure. Oh wait, I
- 15:12Speaker 3: thought it was a backyard, but it's actually I'll.
- 15:15Speaker 5: Tell you what. That's how.
- 15:17Speaker 8: That's why I knew Crystal I had something specials Uh.
- 15:20Speaker 8: That's all it took was to have a you know,
- 15:23Speaker 8: we could connect at my parents' house. We have to
- 15:27Speaker 8: go through all the fancy steps. It was pretty Uh,
- 15:30Speaker 8: sparks were flying right way.
- 15:32Speaker 6: I think that was it.
- 15:33Speaker 4: We weren't sure if we were like when we were
- 15:35Speaker 4: going to actually get married or because I've been like
- 15:39Speaker 4: wanting us to try for another baby, and I was
- 15:41Speaker 4: like what should come first, like baby number two or
- 15:44Speaker 4: the wedding because I don't want to be pregnant at
- 15:46Speaker 4: the wedding. And then his parents kind of offered up
- 15:49Speaker 4: their home to us, and it just felt it felt
- 15:52Speaker 4: really special because yeah, it was our first date where
- 15:55Speaker 4: we met, where we did our gender reveal, my family
- 15:58Speaker 4: reunion like so many special omens, and it was very intimate.
- 16:03Speaker 4: It was like just under eighty people, so it was
- 16:05Speaker 4: like our closest closest family and friends and that it.
- 16:09Speaker 6: Was just it was beautiful.
- 16:10Speaker 4: And we were actually really concerned because there was a
- 16:13Speaker 4: hurricane like plotted for the weekend, so things got a
- 16:19Speaker 4: little I was a little stressed.
- 16:22Speaker 5: I didn't even tell her.
- 16:23Speaker 8: I saw the news like early in the week, and
- 16:27Speaker 8: the whole week I was checking the weather like every day.
- 16:31Speaker 8: Finally told her, and likeily, we didn't panic, although definitely
- 16:34Speaker 8: made I think the actual day a lot better because
- 16:38Speaker 8: all the anxiety going up, we had no backup plan.
- 16:41Speaker 5: It would have been yeah.
- 16:43Speaker 3: It wouldn't have been in the kitchen.
- 16:45Speaker 5: It might be.
- 16:48Speaker 4: I don't know if we would have gotten that people
- 16:50Speaker 4: exclusive with.
- 16:53Speaker 3: No wait a second, how did you have your first
- 16:55Speaker 3: date in his backyard? If like, why did you have
- 16:59Speaker 3: your first day parents' house?
- 17:02Speaker 6: Well, it was during COVID, that's right, okay.
- 17:04Speaker 4: And we have been facetiming for like two weeks and
- 17:08Speaker 4: Miles told me his first job was making crapes.
- 17:10Speaker 6: So his parents have.
- 17:11Speaker 4: This whole like really cool outdoor space with this big grill,
- 17:16Speaker 4: you were of the big flat round ones, so I
- 17:18Speaker 4: wanted to make me crapes. And because like no restaurants
- 17:21Speaker 4: were open because it's during the pandemic.
- 17:24Speaker 8: I think you were going on walks with my mom
- 17:27Speaker 8: pretty regularly, and so maybe it was after a walk
- 17:29Speaker 8: or before a walk.
- 17:30Speaker 2: Now I think I just came over, so I don't
- 17:34Speaker 2: know this, and you might have shared like how did
- 17:35Speaker 2: you know his mom?
- 17:38Speaker 6: You don't know this story?
- 17:39Speaker 4: Then I feel like I have, so I okay, I
- 17:44Speaker 4: don't know.
- 17:44Speaker 3: I think you may have just told me this when
- 17:46Speaker 3: we were together in Vegas.
- 17:48Speaker 4: So I met Katie at a retreat in December twenty
- 17:52Speaker 4: nineteen and we were accountability partners. And the lady who
- 17:56Speaker 4: set it up, her name is Carrie Smith. She's my
- 17:59Speaker 4: high performance coach and she's really good family friends with
- 18:03Speaker 4: Miles as family.
- 18:05Speaker 6: And when.
- 18:09Speaker 4: The pandemic was going on, Carrie and I were doing
- 18:12Speaker 4: weekly coaching calls and she's like, the next guy you date,
- 18:15Speaker 4: I want to make sure like I get to approve him,
- 18:17Speaker 4: and I'm like, okay, of course said very much like
- 18:20Speaker 4: up to Carrie, and one week she was.
- 18:23Speaker 6: Like, I have the perfect eye for you.
- 18:25Speaker 4: It's Katie's son, my friend and accountability partner from there,
- 18:30Speaker 4: and I was like, this girl code, I can't date
- 18:32Speaker 4: her son like Kitty and her friends. So Carrie kind
- 18:36Speaker 4: of like worked along and was poking Katie to, you know,
- 18:40Speaker 4: invite me over and go on walk to just like
- 18:43Speaker 4: be more involved in my life. And so we just
- 18:45Speaker 4: like kind of like connected through through that.
- 18:49Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 19:00Speaker 2: So I mean, now that you're married and you have
- 19:03Speaker 2: a child together, did Katie ever you know, mention that Hey,
- 19:08Speaker 2: when we were sitting there at the retree, you know,
- 19:10Speaker 2: you were sharing your life with me and I was
- 19:11Speaker 2: sharing my life with you. In the back of my mind,
- 19:13Speaker 2: I was like, I've got a son that would be
- 19:15Speaker 2: perfect for you.
- 19:16Speaker 6: I think, so really.
- 19:21Speaker 3: Interesting.
- 19:22Speaker 7: Wow.
- 19:22Speaker 3: Okay, no, but I will tell you what she did say.
- 19:25Speaker 4: She did tell Carrie that I reminded her of her
- 19:29Speaker 4: younger self so much. And I had told Carrie that
- 19:34Speaker 4: I was like, I feel like I'm going to be
- 19:36Speaker 4: like Katie when I'm older.
- 19:39Speaker 3: So Miles, how's it feeling, mom.
- 19:43Speaker 7: I think it's a compliment.
- 19:44Speaker 3: I think it's normal to be honest.
- 19:46Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 19:48Speaker 4: Yeah, we just felt this like this little connection, you know,
- 19:52Speaker 4: like Katie and I really connected.
- 19:55Speaker 6: She's you know, and she had She's had like.
- 19:58Speaker 4: Three boys, so I'm like the first daughter of the
- 20:00Speaker 4: family and then first grandchild and Dara, So yeah, we
- 20:06Speaker 4: just integrated really well.
- 20:08Speaker 2: Is it weird for you? I mean, like, I'm very
- 20:10Speaker 2: close to my ind lass. I don't know what this
- 20:13Speaker 2: retreat was all about. I'm assuming there was a lot
- 20:15Speaker 2: of like vulnerable moments. Is it weird or is it
- 20:21Speaker 2: helpful that your mother in law now knows so much
- 20:25Speaker 2: about you?
- 20:27Speaker 6: I mean, I'm an open book, so.
- 20:30Speaker 8: You know, like, yeah, at least it seems like you
- 20:34Speaker 8: guys kicked it off.
- 20:36Speaker 4: It was an awesome way for us to meet and
- 20:40Speaker 4: build like our friendship because like Katie and I can
- 20:43Speaker 4: get really deep and really vulnerable with each other and
- 20:46Speaker 4: just really have that support and we're both very, very
- 20:50Speaker 4: very similar.
- 20:52Speaker 6: So it was perfect.
- 20:54Speaker 4: And one thing just like at that retreat, like listening
- 20:57Speaker 4: to Katie because again you're at a retreat and of
- 20:58Speaker 4: all things, of all places that you can like talk
- 21:02Speaker 4: smack about people and family that frustrates you or.
- 21:06Speaker 6: Whatever, she didn't do any of that. All she did.
- 21:10Speaker 4: I remember just thinking, Wow, this woman has been married
- 21:13Speaker 4: for twenty six years and she only talks like so
- 21:17Speaker 4: lovingly about her husband, Like I want to be like
- 21:19Speaker 4: that when I'm older. I want to be married twenty
- 21:21Speaker 4: six years and be able to just only speak like
- 21:25Speaker 4: just like of her husband and family and like the
- 21:29Speaker 4: highest way. And yeah, I just really admired her and
- 21:34Speaker 4: her family values. And so when Miles and I kind
- 21:37Speaker 4: of dated, maybe there was like a little bit of
- 21:39Speaker 4: weirdness at first, just a little bit, but we both
- 21:43Speaker 4: like got through it, and you know, now I have
- 21:47Speaker 4: the best in laws and I'm married like the best family,
- 21:49Speaker 4: and I have the best brother in laws, and it
- 21:52Speaker 4: just feels really special. And it's interesting because you think, like, Okay,
- 21:56Speaker 4: we've been together three and a half years, like we
- 21:58Speaker 4: have a child together, but something over like the wedding weekend,
- 22:02Speaker 4: even like with your brothers, it just felt different. It
- 22:04Speaker 4: felt like we were all kind of seeing each other
- 22:06Speaker 4: in like a new light and there was a new
- 22:09Speaker 4: depth to our relationships. Things just feel closer and more bonded.
- 22:15Speaker 3: Okay, you said you were an open book, so you're
- 22:18Speaker 3: gonna challenge me, all right, Okay, Oh, when was the
- 22:23Speaker 3: last time you heard from your ex husband?
- 22:28Speaker 9: Oh?
- 22:30Speaker 6: I think like definitely before we got engaged.
- 22:35Speaker 3: Oh, okay, because I was. I was wondering if he's
- 22:37Speaker 3: ever said congratulations along the way of all those things.
- 22:39Speaker 4: No, No, you know, and like I wish him so well,
- 22:45Speaker 4: and I wish him to find a relationship like Miles
- 22:47Speaker 4: than I found. And you know, we just knew it
- 22:49Speaker 4: wasn't going to be with each other. And so when
- 22:53Speaker 4: you know you're not in that right relationship, like it's
- 22:56Speaker 4: selfish to hold on and you got to let go
- 22:59Speaker 4: and make space for everyone to move forward and find
- 23:02Speaker 4: their happiness.
- 23:04Speaker 7: That was a good question. I thought it was gonna
- 23:06Speaker 7: be a lot harder to answer.
- 23:07Speaker 3: Oh, really, did you come up with one? Did you?
- 23:11Speaker 7: I didn't know where you're going with it.
- 23:12Speaker 2: I thought it was gonna be a lot more about
- 23:13Speaker 2: like the honeymoon, if they're trying for that second now
- 23:16Speaker 2: or what.
- 23:16Speaker 7: I didn't know what path you were going down, but
- 23:18Speaker 7: I like where you went.
- 23:19Speaker 3: Honeymoon's second and Dara was your.
- 23:22Speaker 4: Give me a look, like what are you?
- 23:28Speaker 3: But she was your flower girl. That must have been
- 23:31Speaker 3: so emotional. Miles, were you more emotional seeing her go
- 23:34Speaker 3: down the aisle or Crystal?
- 23:36Speaker 8: Well, Crystal didn't actually, So that was one of my
- 23:38Speaker 8: favorite parts about the whole wedding, and Crystal didn't get
- 23:41Speaker 8: to see it because and Dara came first.
- 23:44Speaker 5: But she was so cute.
- 23:45Speaker 8: I mean, when you have a daughter that's that age,
- 23:47Speaker 8: it could really go one of two ways.
- 23:50Speaker 4: We didn't think it was gonna go the way we wanted.
- 23:54Speaker 8: So and she was so cute the whole time. My dad'
- 23:57Speaker 8: kinda helped her. She walked out with my dad and
- 23:59Speaker 8: he helped her put dave her handfuls of flowers and
- 24:03Speaker 8: she tossed them and made sure they were evenly spread.
- 24:05Speaker 6: And she did so good.
- 24:08Speaker 5: She was great.
- 24:09Speaker 3: That's adorable.
- 24:10Speaker 6: So it was really sweet.
- 24:11Speaker 4: And then I didn't get to see it because again,
- 24:13Speaker 4: like she walked before me, But I did see some
- 24:15Speaker 4: pictures and I cannot wait to see the video.
- 24:18Speaker 6: But I think my most special.
- 24:19Speaker 4: Part of the wedding was as soon as I came
- 24:22Speaker 4: down the aisle and met Miles and we went up
- 24:24Speaker 4: to the altar and we were holding hands and Dara goes,
- 24:27Speaker 4: mommy and daddy are so happy, and ran them up
- 24:31Speaker 4: and was hugging me and holding my legs. So we're
- 24:34Speaker 4: starting our vows with and Dara just like hugging me.
- 24:37Speaker 6: Yeah, it was so special. You know, it felt special.
- 24:41Speaker 4: Because everything like we've come through to come to that
- 24:44Speaker 4: point and like really uniting our family. And that's why
- 24:48Speaker 4: I felt I was really adamant about changing my name
- 24:50Speaker 4: and just going all in on this relationship and our
- 24:54Speaker 4: commitment to one another. And I just felt like sometimes
- 24:57Speaker 4: if there's like a foot in a foot out, you know,
- 25:00Speaker 4: and I'm like, I'm going all in. I'm committing to
- 25:02Speaker 4: this one hundred percent Instagram official and.
- 25:05Speaker 3: All aw And then Crystal, you were walked down the
- 25:08Speaker 3: aisle by your mom and your brother. Yeah, I think
- 25:13Speaker 3: that was I don't I don't I remember correctly. I
- 25:15Speaker 3: don't think that happened at your other wedding.
- 25:18Speaker 6: No, I walk by myself.
- 25:20Speaker 3: Yeah, that's what I thought.
- 25:21Speaker 4: I did walk by myself because my dad isn't really
- 25:24Speaker 4: involved in my life. And this time around, it's like,
- 25:28Speaker 4: you know, when you get married for the second time,
- 25:30Speaker 4: you just have some experience, like anything in life, and
- 25:34Speaker 4: I just wanted to do things differently, and I wanted
- 25:36Speaker 4: my mom and I wanted my little brother to like
- 25:38Speaker 4: be right by my side. And I think at that
- 25:42Speaker 4: time of my life, you know, years ago, when I
- 25:44Speaker 4: did get married, I felt really strongly about like how
- 25:48Speaker 4: far I'd come on my own and like.
- 25:51Speaker 6: Really proud of that.
- 25:53Speaker 4: But throughout our relationship and becoming a mother and just
- 25:56Speaker 4: going through this big life transition, I've understood that I'm
- 26:00Speaker 4: actually not like so proud of that. The walls and
- 26:03Speaker 4: the toughness and the armor that I built up to
- 26:05Speaker 4: like push through life.
- 26:07Speaker 6: I actually want to take that off. I want to
- 26:08Speaker 6: get softer.
- 26:09Speaker 4: I want to lean in and have a strong man
- 26:12Speaker 4: be my support me not trying to be the dominant one,
- 26:16Speaker 4: you know, in the relationship, Like I want to like
- 26:18Speaker 4: step into my femininity. I want to like step into
- 26:21Speaker 4: just like strength and faith. And so I just feel
- 26:26Speaker 4: so much experience has like led us to really come
- 26:31Speaker 4: into this marriage in a really strong place.
- 26:34Speaker 3: I love that answer.
- 26:36Speaker 2: It's a there's a lot of beauty here for the
- 26:38Speaker 2: two of you, a lot of great things happening. I'm
- 26:42Speaker 2: really excited that we get to come on and talk
- 26:44Speaker 2: to the two of you after this beautiful day and
- 26:48Speaker 2: then obviously a beautiful honeymoon where you're both glowing.
- 26:51Speaker 3: And some tan and some other things.
- 26:55Speaker 6: Super crispy, you know, you look it.
- 26:58Speaker 9: Uh.
- 26:58Speaker 2: In kind of closing with the two of you at Crystal.
- 27:01Speaker 2: You know, with that at last answer just reminded me
- 27:04Speaker 2: of all the work that you're doing with your platform
- 27:06Speaker 2: and your community to try to build people up and
- 27:09Speaker 2: to give them assets and tools to help make them
- 27:13Speaker 2: healthier both physically, mentally, spiritually, emotionally.
- 27:17Speaker 7: Speak to that for a little bit.
- 27:18Speaker 2: Also, if you can tie in the podcast so people
- 27:21Speaker 2: can maybe tune in and listen if they're intrigued.
- 27:25Speaker 6: Oh, thank you so much, Ben.
- 27:27Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 27:27Speaker 4: I mean a lot of people know me as a
- 27:29Speaker 4: fitness coach, but becoming a mom really just changed my
- 27:32Speaker 4: perspective on the pressure women put on themselves along with society.
- 27:38Speaker 4: And my kind of rebrand has been called rein over
- 27:42Speaker 4: your Life, where it's fitness is a pillar, but it's
- 27:45Speaker 4: our mental health, it's our support unit, all these things
- 27:48Speaker 4: that really come together to create a well balanced life.
- 27:53Speaker 4: And so I'm exploring all of that through my podcast,
- 27:57Speaker 4: rein of Your Life, where I'm really interviewing a lot
- 27:59Speaker 4: of experts in the field of transformation and healing and
- 28:03Speaker 4: trauma recovery because I'm on that journey and I just
- 28:06Speaker 4: want to invite people to come along with me so
- 28:08Speaker 4: that they can start finding some answers and start finding
- 28:11Speaker 4: some freedom to go rein over their life.
- 28:16Speaker 3: Let's wrap this with a question about the two of
- 28:18Speaker 3: you answering to each other. What is your favorite thing
- 28:24Speaker 3: about Miles and what was your favory thing about Crystal?
- 28:27Speaker 3: And then what is the thing that you're dreading on
- 28:30Speaker 3: having to deal with for the rest of your life?
- 28:33Speaker 6: God, you go first.
- 28:37Speaker 5: It's hard to narrow it down to one thing as always, but.
- 28:43Speaker 8: Maybe the Crystal's got just an intense, like positive energy
- 28:48Speaker 8: around her all the time.
- 28:49Speaker 5: It's hard not to get addicted to that.
- 28:51Speaker 3: It's authentic too, you know what. First you're like, you,
- 28:54Speaker 3: I wonder what you're like behind closed doors, and then
- 28:56Speaker 3: you find out that's just how she is.
- 28:58Speaker 8: Yeah, No, totally, and that's that's what really caused me
- 29:02Speaker 8: fall in love with her. And it's still like that
- 29:05Speaker 8: three years, three and a half years later, and yeah,
- 29:09Speaker 8: it's great. That's my favorite thing, along with many other things,
- 29:15Speaker 8: the thing I dread. I'm trying to think of something funny.
- 29:20Speaker 2: What's the first thing that comes to mind, Miles. I've
- 29:26Speaker 2: said many times the shedding. The shedding is uh, but
- 29:29Speaker 2: you can't you can't use it now. I just said it.
- 29:31Speaker 2: But there's a when you live with somebody who has
- 29:35Speaker 2: long hair, the shedding is outrageous.
- 29:37Speaker 4: Uh.
- 29:38Speaker 2: And why I said this over and over again, Jess
- 29:40Speaker 2: Can I have both taken steps in our life to
- 29:42Speaker 2: make the shedding more palpable, like drain. No, like drain,
- 29:48Speaker 2: there's like drain stuff you can put on it so
- 29:50Speaker 2: the hair gets caught, it doesn't go down, and you
- 29:52Speaker 2: know you're not pulling out a varmit every like six
- 29:55Speaker 2: months out of the train. So Miles, Yeah, you got
- 30:00Speaker 2: something in there.
- 30:01Speaker 7: I know it.
- 30:02Speaker 3: Yeah, we can come back to you if you want.
- 30:05Speaker 6: We're going to say.
- 30:06Speaker 4: One thing that I really love about you is that
- 30:09Speaker 4: you always want to find a way to like systematize things.
- 30:14Speaker 4: You always want to find and make things like more efficient.
- 30:16Speaker 4: So everything like how we grocery shop, how we like
- 30:19Speaker 4: plant our meals, Like we're always finding ways to improve
- 30:22Speaker 4: And I love it You're always wanting to do.
- 30:25Speaker 6: That because I love to do it with you.
- 30:28Speaker 4: And the thing I'm most writing is telling you to
- 30:31Speaker 4: make the bed because you were the last one out
- 30:33Speaker 4: of it every single.
- 30:34Speaker 5: Day, all right, I thought of mine.
- 30:39Speaker 8: Crystal has a funny habit of of buying way too
- 30:44Speaker 8: much produce. That's what I'd read is thrown away produce
- 30:51Speaker 8: that because too much.
- 30:54Speaker 3: That's a good answer. That stresses me out.
- 30:57Speaker 7: Yeah, good for you guys.
- 31:00Speaker 3: Thank you so much for joining us straight off your honeymoon.
- 31:02Speaker 3: You guys are seriously the cutest couple and we can't
- 31:05Speaker 3: wait to see what comes.
- 31:07Speaker 7: Yeah, super excited for the two of you. Thanks for
- 31:09Speaker 7: coming on here.
- 31:10Speaker 6: Yeah, thanks so much, guys.
- 31:15Speaker 2: We just had the opportunity to interview Crystal and Miles,
- 31:20Speaker 2: an incredible couple really looking forward to their future, bringing
- 31:25Speaker 2: light and happiness and cheer into this world. It is
- 31:28Speaker 2: great to see Crystal just so happy. You know, it's weird. Actually,
- 31:34Speaker 2: just correct me if I'm wrong and I'm off base here,
- 31:37Speaker 2: But you know, I said it a few weeks ago
- 31:38Speaker 2: where it feels like we had so many people that
- 31:40Speaker 2: we rooted for so hard here at the Almost Ans podcast,
- 31:43Speaker 2: and it seems like so recently those people have found love.
- 31:46Speaker 2: Like the players come to mind, and Crystal comes to
- 31:48Speaker 2: mind for me as well. Within that sentence, there's others,
- 31:52Speaker 2: but you know, Crystal was somebody really rooting for because
- 31:55Speaker 2: I know it was a very difficult process.
- 31:58Speaker 3: Yeah, same, same, and she's just a ball of light
- 32:02Speaker 3: and energy. And I'm so happy that I think that
- 32:05Speaker 3: this makes her admit it even more.
- 32:07Speaker 7: That's right.
- 32:07Speaker 2: Well, until next time, I've been Ben, I've Been Ashley Cia.
