Mega Edition: Jean Luc Brunel And The Still Unexplained Circumstances Around His Death (10/17/26) · The Epstein Chronicles

0:00
Speaker 1: What's up everyone and welcome back to the Epstein Chronicles.
0:04
Speaker 1: Tonight we're going to jump right back into the death
0:06
Speaker 1: of Jean-Luc Brunel and try and add a little more
0:09
Speaker 1: context to the situation. And to do that we have
0:13
Speaker 1: two separate articles that we're going to dig into. One
0:17
Speaker 1: of those articles is from an outlet called 20 Minutes
0:20
Speaker 1: in France and the other article is from the Miami Herald.
0:26
Speaker 1: So we got these two articles, no sense me going
0:29
Speaker 1: along with the monologue. Why don't we just jump right in?
0:33
Speaker 1: The first article we're going to talk about is from
0:36
Speaker 1: the outlet 20 Minutes in France. And now remember, this
0:41
Speaker 1: is a translated version, so there might be some words
0:45
Speaker 1: or phrases that don't translate correctly. I'll try and navigate
0:48
Speaker 1: through that, but you know, I'm certainly not a language specialist, right?
0:53
Speaker 1: I'm certainly not somebody who's going to sit here and
0:56
Speaker 1: talk fluent French to you. I'm lucky I can speak English. So,
1:00
Speaker 1: all right. That said, let's check out what author Philip
1:03
Speaker 1: Berry has to say about the situation with Jean-Luc Brunel. Headline,
1:08
Speaker 1: Epstein case, found dead in prison. Former model agent Jean-Luc
1:13
Speaker 1: Brunel had already made several suicide attempts. And to me,
1:17
Speaker 1: that's an important detail and important context. We had heard
1:21
Speaker 1: a little bit about that, that he might have, you know,
1:24
Speaker 1: had previous attempts at suicide. And if that is the case,
1:29
Speaker 1: it leads me to believe that my initial feelings here,
1:33
Speaker 1: my gut feelings, are probably correct, and that he probably
1:36
Speaker 1: tried to kill himself previously, failed in whatever manner, and
1:41
Speaker 1: then was able to do it this time for whatever reason.
1:45
Speaker 1: Now again, that's just the initial reaction. It could totally
1:50
Speaker 1: end up being something different. We'll have to wait for
1:53
Speaker 1: more evidence to be provided, but until then, all we
1:56
Speaker 1: can possibly do is add as much context as possible, right?
2:00
Speaker 1: And then, of course, everybody's free to make their own
2:02
Speaker 1: decisions and believe whatever they want to believe. I just
2:06
Speaker 1: think that when you look at everything that we know
2:09
Speaker 1: so far, it certainly is pretty strong as far as
2:14
Speaker 1: the evidence goes that this man did kill himself. Again,
2:19
Speaker 1: this article was authored by Philip Berry. His accusers are
2:24
Speaker 1: torn between shock and anger. placed in pretrial detention for
2:28
Speaker 1: more than a year after being indicted for two rapes
2:31
Speaker 1: of minors, the ex-agent of models, Jean-Luc Brunel, who was
2:34
Speaker 1: suspected of having played the touts for Jeffrey Epstein, was
2:38
Speaker 1: found dead in his cell on the night of Friday
2:40
Speaker 1: to Saturday. So, again, you could see why people would
2:45
Speaker 1: be skeptical about the official narrative. And again, I think
2:48
Speaker 1: that says a lot more about these institutions, about... you know,
2:53
Speaker 1: the people who are in charge who are supposed to
2:54
Speaker 1: be protecting the most vulnerable amongst us. the judicial system
2:59
Speaker 1: and all of that than it does about the people
3:02
Speaker 1: who are asking these questions. If the government entities and
3:06
Speaker 1: these institutions were honest with the populace, if they at
3:09
Speaker 1: the very least weren't devious and lie about everything, then
3:13
Speaker 1: people might be willing to give them the benefit of
3:15
Speaker 1: the doubt and not automatically jump to these other conclusions
3:19
Speaker 1: of was there other things going on as opposed to
3:24
Speaker 1: a suicide. And you see, so it's not just the
3:27
Speaker 1: people who have those opinions or people who think like that, oh,
3:31
Speaker 1: they're crazy. A lot of it has to do with
3:35
Speaker 1: the eroded trust in the fourth estate and in the
3:38
Speaker 1: institutions that the fourth estate continues to prop up. Like
3:44
Speaker 1: the American child criminal, the Frenchman, according to the elements
3:49
Speaker 1: of the investigation, committed suicide by hanging. a fatal end
3:53
Speaker 1: in disturbing circumstances that will have to clarify the investigation,
3:58
Speaker 1: entrusted to the 3rd District of the Paris Judicial Police.
4:02
Speaker 1: Especially since, according to our information, Jean-Luc Brunel had tried
4:06
Speaker 1: to end his life several times since he was behind bars.
4:10
Speaker 1: Now look, if I was playing the devil's advocate here,
4:12
Speaker 1: I could say all of that's BS. He never tried
4:15
Speaker 1: to kill himself all these times while he was in custody.
4:18
Speaker 1: Prove it. And until some proof is provided, then again,
4:22
Speaker 1: I'll stay agnostic towards all of it. I don't know
4:24
Speaker 1: what happened. I don't know if he killed himself for sure.
4:27
Speaker 1: I don't know if somebody else killed him. I don't
4:29
Speaker 1: know if a ninja was snuck in through the air
4:32
Speaker 1: vent or whatever it might be. I have no idea.
4:35
Speaker 1: All I can tell you is so far with what
4:39
Speaker 1: I have seen and what my gut is telling me,
4:42
Speaker 1: it looks like this is not as odd. as when
4:46
Speaker 1: Epstein clipped himself, as far as the focused picture, right?
4:51
Speaker 1: Not the overall. We're looking at the whole entire thing. Again,
4:54
Speaker 1: it's just another coincidence makes you shake your head. But
4:56
Speaker 1: when you look at it as this incident in itself,
5:00
Speaker 1: him committing suicide and all this stuff leading up to it,
5:03
Speaker 1: it definitely seems like that's a very good possibility. But
5:07
Speaker 1: until there's evidence that's provided to really slam that home,
5:12
Speaker 1: to send that narrative to a place where it's considered truth,
5:15
Speaker 1: then there's going to be questions that are going to
5:17
Speaker 1: be asked. And anybody who's deriding people for asking those
5:21
Speaker 1: kinds of questions, they should be mocked because we're never
5:25
Speaker 1: going to get to the bottom of any of this
5:27
Speaker 1: if people stop asking questions or if they feel like
5:29
Speaker 1: they're going to be mocked if they have questions or
5:32
Speaker 1: doubts about these institutions. Contacted by 20 Minutes, one of
5:38
Speaker 1: his lawyers, M.E. Chichportich, confirms it. During the 14 months
5:50
Speaker 1: of his pre-trial detention in the Prison of Health, the
5:54
Speaker 1: 14th District of Paris, Jean-Luc Brunel had made several suicide attempts. However...
5:59
Speaker 1: According to the prosecutor's office, he was not placed in
6:03
Speaker 1: an emergency protection cell, CPROU, with rounded corners, paper clothes,
6:11
Speaker 1: and terrible sheets. These cells, very rare, there are only
6:15
Speaker 1: 100 in French prisons, are only used in the face
6:18
Speaker 1: of an imminent risk of suicide for a period of
6:21
Speaker 1: 24 hours pending hospital care. All right, so let's unpack
6:25
Speaker 1: that real quick. And again, if I'm playing devil's advocate...
6:28
Speaker 1: What does that even mean? Why wasn't he in one
6:31
Speaker 1: of these cells? If he had tried to commit suicide
6:34
Speaker 1: a bunch of times previously, why wasn't he in one
6:36
Speaker 1: of these cells with the rounded corners, the paper clothes,
6:39
Speaker 1: the terrible sheets? These are legitimate questions that have to
6:43
Speaker 1: be answered. And they might have legitimate answers that come
6:47
Speaker 1: down and, you know, when the investigation starts or whatever,
6:50
Speaker 1: we'll see. But it's certainly a question that must be asked.
6:54
Speaker 1: Why wasn't he placed in one of these cells, considering
6:58
Speaker 1: he is such a high-profile criminal or inmate? Like the
7:04
Speaker 1: singer Jean-Luc Lehay, or the former mayor of Lavalois-Paret-Patrick Balcony,
7:10
Speaker 1: Jean-Luc Brunel, was on the other hand incarcerated in the
7:13
Speaker 1: district for vulnerable people. So I'm guessing that's kind of
7:16
Speaker 1: like the shoe in America, right? They put you in
7:19
Speaker 1: the shoe, They get you all kinds of protected so
7:23
Speaker 1: that you don't have to deal with the other inmates,
7:26
Speaker 1: people who are violent towards child abusers or whatever. And
7:30
Speaker 1: you go there and you PC up. So I'm guessing
7:32
Speaker 1: this is pretty much the same thing. This VIP section
7:35
Speaker 1: welcomes inmates who are media or likely to face, who
7:39
Speaker 1: are media, okay, or likely to face violence within the
7:42
Speaker 1: general prison population. Yep, same thing. So it's their version
7:45
Speaker 1: of the shoe. According to the Paris prosecutor's office, Jean-Luc
7:49
Speaker 1: Brunel was alone in his cell and he was found
7:51
Speaker 1: dead around 1.30 a.m. during a night watch of prison guards.
7:57
Speaker 1: So that gives you a little more context about what
8:01
Speaker 1: occurred there inside of that cell, according to the official
8:04
Speaker 1: narrative that's being pumped by the French police and the
8:08
Speaker 1: French authorities. So that's going to lead us into our
8:11
Speaker 1: next article here, but... I thought that was a pretty
8:14
Speaker 1: interesting part of the narrative that he had, you know,
8:17
Speaker 1: attempted the suicides previously, because I think that's very, very,
8:21
Speaker 1: very important to try and figure out what his motivations
8:24
Speaker 1: were if he was suicidal or whatever with his death. Right.
8:29
Speaker 1: I think all the cards need to be on the
8:31
Speaker 1: table and we need to be able to look at
8:33
Speaker 1: everything that's available because it's it's definitely a coincidence. Right.
8:39
Speaker 1: You look at it and you say to yourself, holy shit,
8:40
Speaker 1: not again. Talk about ground dog day. But somehow, another
8:44
Speaker 1: high-profile inmate in the care of the authorities connected to
8:48
Speaker 1: Jeffrey Epstein ends up at the end of a rope.
8:52
Speaker 1: All right, our next article is from the Miami Herald.
8:56
Speaker 1: And this article is from Julie K. Brown, Linda Robertson,
9:01
Speaker 1: and Ben Weider. And they are also quoting Philip Berry
9:05
Speaker 1: from the article or the outlet, excuse me, 20 Minutes.
9:09
Speaker 1: So that was their source as well. Headline, Jeffrey Epstein
9:15
Speaker 1: associate Jean-Luc Brunel, ex-Miami modeling agent, found dead in a
9:19
Speaker 1: Paris cell. Jeffrey Epstein's former business partner and alleged accomplice
9:25
Speaker 1: in trafficking and sexually abusing girls, Jean-Luc Brunel was found
9:28
Speaker 1: dead Saturday in his French jail cell, according to French authorities.
9:33
Speaker 1: The death of Brunel, once a fixture in Miami Beach's
9:36
Speaker 1: modeling industry, resembles Epstein's death by hanging in a New
9:40
Speaker 1: York prison cell in August 2019 that was ruled a suicide. See,
9:45
Speaker 1: here's where I say allegedly. Because when it comes to
9:48
Speaker 1: Epstein's death and Brunel's, for me, there is just way
9:53
Speaker 1: too many unanswered questions with Jeffrey Epstein. Until somebody can
9:57
Speaker 1: answer me the question why he was in the cell
10:00
Speaker 1: with Tartaglione to begin with during his first alleged attempt,
10:04
Speaker 1: then I don't even want to hear from you. I'm
10:06
Speaker 1: tired of wasting time with people who try and gaslight
10:09
Speaker 1: and work their way around the edges. Enough with the bullshit.
10:13
Speaker 1: Pull the curtains back. Brunel, 76, had been arrested in
10:18
Speaker 1: December 2020. and was under investigation on rape and sex
10:22
Speaker 1: trafficking charges. So we know the story, right? He was
10:26
Speaker 1: under arrest and he was, uh, waiting charges because of the,
10:30
Speaker 1: the behavior he was, uh, involved in with Epstein and otherwise. See,
10:35
Speaker 1: remember with Brunel, it wasn't just his behavior with Epstein.
10:38
Speaker 1: He was on his own being a sick fuck too.
10:42
Speaker 1: And just like Epstein, Brunel had also attempted suicide earlier,
10:46
Speaker 1: the Herald and the French daily newspaper 20 Minutes have learned.
10:51
Speaker 1: So again, With Epstein, we have the one alleged suicide
10:56
Speaker 1: attempt that's documented, and they're saying this gentleman had several.
11:01
Speaker 1: So when you say several, that leads me to believe
11:04
Speaker 1: that there is some kind of serious mental issue going
11:07
Speaker 1: on here. Whereas with Epstein, I don't believe that he
11:11
Speaker 1: allegedly tried to kill himself that first time around in
11:13
Speaker 1: a cell with Nicholas Tartaglione, who killed associates of the
11:18
Speaker 1: Mexican fucking cartel. This is a guy that should be
11:21
Speaker 1: in the cell with Epstein, huh? Okay. Yet the modeling
11:28
Speaker 1: agent was not under active suicide watch known in France
11:31
Speaker 1: as emergency protection. These types of cells with rounded corners,
11:35
Speaker 1: paper clothes, and terrible bed sheets are very rare and
11:39
Speaker 1: only meant to be used for an imminent risk for
11:41
Speaker 1: up to 24 hours. Until an inmate can be transferred
11:45
Speaker 1: to a psychiatric facility, as the other article explained to
11:49
Speaker 1: us as well. And that's interesting, too. So they go
11:52
Speaker 1: to a psychiatric facility here in France if there is
11:55
Speaker 1: an alleged suicide or if there's thoughts of suicide. I
11:59
Speaker 1: think in America there's like a hold, right? I'm not
12:01
Speaker 1: too sure. I'm not really too sure about the process,
12:03
Speaker 1: to be honest with you. Brunel was, however, held in
12:07
Speaker 1: the vulnerable people area, nicknamed VIP quarters, for people deemed
12:12
Speaker 1: at risk of facing violence, which is common for sexual
12:15
Speaker 1: assault charges or famous detainees. Now, I'm guessing that over
12:19
Speaker 1: in Europe, while it's probably not as insane as in America,
12:23
Speaker 1: as far as the jail goes, I'm sure that people
12:26
Speaker 1: don't look kindly to abusers, women abusers and child abusers
12:30
Speaker 1: in prison. So you got to PC up or else
12:33
Speaker 1: it's game on. Like I've talked about a million times
12:36
Speaker 1: here before on the podcast in America, you hit the
12:39
Speaker 1: yard and you're a chomo and you're getting the green
12:42
Speaker 1: light right away. You don't have to even worry about
12:45
Speaker 1: the other races. Even your own race is going to
12:48
Speaker 1: thump you out. After a new appeal from his lawyers,
12:57
Speaker 1: Brunel was briefly released following a suicide attempt last Christmas. Well,
13:01
Speaker 1: that's nice, huh? Go ahead and commit a suicide. I'm
13:03
Speaker 1: going to make pretend I'm committing suicide so I can
13:06
Speaker 1: get out of jail for a little while. Let me
13:07
Speaker 1: go spend Christmas with my family. Sure, that makes his
13:10
Speaker 1: victims feel great. Isn't that nice? Good old Jean-Luc Brunel
13:14
Speaker 1: got to go spend Christmas with his family because the
13:16
Speaker 1: guy felt suicidal. The custody judge ruled his detention was
13:22
Speaker 1: no longer justified, given the status of the prosecution, Chichportich said.
13:27
Speaker 1: But the decision was overruled, and Brunel went back to
13:30
Speaker 1: jail a few days later. Oh yeah, you know, it's
13:33
Speaker 1: no big deal. And again, I'm not really, like, familiar
13:37
Speaker 1: with the French judicial system. I don't know the levels
13:41
Speaker 1: of corruption that are apparent. You know, here in America,
13:46
Speaker 1: it's rather obvious that the corruption is at an all-time high.
13:50
Speaker 1: And I'm guessing it's like that everywhere else. So, again,
13:54
Speaker 1: with the official narrative... The signs so far point to
13:58
Speaker 1: it probably being a suicide attempt. But I'm not willing
14:01
Speaker 1: to die on that hill or whatever and say, oh, yeah,
14:05
Speaker 1: it's definitely that's what happened. Because who the hell knows
14:08
Speaker 1: when you see decisions like this, a judge lets him
14:11
Speaker 1: go home for Christmas just to be overruled. And he
14:14
Speaker 1: has to go back a few days later as if
14:16
Speaker 1: people don't look at that and say, oh, that was
14:18
Speaker 1: orchestrated just for him to go home for Christmas. Good cop,
14:22
Speaker 1: bad cop kind of shit. Prosecutors in Paris confirm Brunel
14:27
Speaker 1: was found hanging in his cell in La Santé in
14:30
Speaker 1: South Paris in the early hours of Saturday morning. I
14:35
Speaker 1: can confirm that Mr. Brunel was discovered at 1.30 a.m.
14:38
Speaker 1: last night dead in his cell. He was alone in
14:41
Speaker 1: the cell. According to the first findings, it is a
14:44
Speaker 1: suicide by hanging. An investigation in search of the cause
14:47
Speaker 1: of death is however opened, said Antoine Pesmy, a spokesperson
14:52
Speaker 1: for the Paris Public Prosecutor's Office. British and French media
14:56
Speaker 1: reported that no cameras recorded the alleged suicide at the jail,
15:00
Speaker 1: one of the toughest facilities in France, which has both
15:03
Speaker 1: high security and VIP wings that have housed some of
15:06
Speaker 1: the country's most infamous prisoners. So it's, you know, serious prison, right?
15:11
Speaker 1: It's not the kind of place that you go if
15:13
Speaker 1: you're not a scumbag. So this guy's housed in this,
15:18
Speaker 1: you know, this prison facility for serious people. I'm sure
15:22
Speaker 1: it's a dreary-ass existence. Who the hell wants to live
15:24
Speaker 1: in jail, in prison? Especially when you know you're guilty.
15:27
Speaker 1: You see your boy Prince Andrew settle up for big dough.
15:30
Speaker 1: You see Ghislaine Maxwell go down. Your boy Jeffrey Epstein
15:33
Speaker 1: clipped himself or was clipped. Now you're sitting here rotten
15:37
Speaker 1: and you're waiting and you have those thoughts in your head? Eh,
15:41
Speaker 1: it's not that far of a leap, folks. Not in
15:42
Speaker 1: my opinion, anyway. Brunel's death... also comes as a judge
15:47
Speaker 1: in New York is weighing the release and unsealing documents
15:50
Speaker 1: that could shed more light on Epstein's trafficking operation and
15:54
Speaker 1: who was involved. Several people labeled as John Does have
15:58
Speaker 1: been fighting for years to keep their names redacted from
16:01
Speaker 1: the document. And you see that quite a bit. Whenever
16:04
Speaker 1: there's a document dump coming in the Epstein case or
16:07
Speaker 1: the Maxwell case, somebody inevitably ends up committing quote-unquote suicide.
16:12
Speaker 1: Another coincidence? Or... Brunel was being held for investigation into
16:20
Speaker 1: allegations that he and others sexually abused and trafficked young
16:23
Speaker 1: women in France over several decades. He was considered a
16:27
Speaker 1: key part of the case and had reportedly been cooperating
16:30
Speaker 1: with authorities. He had also been speaking to the U.S. authorities.
16:34
Speaker 1: Of course, he knew the deal. Look, what did I
16:36
Speaker 1: tell you guys at the very beginning, okay? These people
16:39
Speaker 1: are not built for this. I know real criminals, right?
16:43
Speaker 1: I know real criminals who have broken down on the
16:46
Speaker 1: stand You proffered up king for the day, the whole
16:50
Speaker 1: entire thing, because they can't take the idea of doing
16:53
Speaker 1: 30 or 40 years in prison. And these are hardened
16:56
Speaker 1: street people. You mean to tell me that soft-ass, charming-ass
17:01
Speaker 1: Ghislaine Maxwell and Jean-Luc Brunel are built for this life?
17:06
Speaker 1: Of course he's talking to the authorities. Of course he's
17:08
Speaker 1: looking to cooperate. It almost seems like the entire ring
17:14
Speaker 1: of people who are doing this, that their conscience is
17:17
Speaker 1: getting the better of them now, that they are being
17:19
Speaker 1: held accountable for their actions, said Spencer Coven, an attorney
17:23
Speaker 1: who has represented several of Epstein's survivors. Of course, the
17:27
Speaker 1: alternative conspiracy theory is that it's like someone is trying
17:30
Speaker 1: to clean up shop. And again, look, I'm not going
17:32
Speaker 1: to sit here and say, oh, that's just completely bogus.
17:35
Speaker 1: That can't even entertain that idea. You remember who we're
17:38
Speaker 1: dealing with here? Remember, you know, all that CIA ties
17:42
Speaker 1: and all that stuff? Remember who we're dealing with here.
17:46
Speaker 1: So I'm certainly not comfortable saying, oh, well, there's no
17:49
Speaker 1: doubt in my mind this is definitely a suicide. And
17:52
Speaker 1: as far as conspiracy theory, I don't even know if
17:54
Speaker 1: I'd call it that at this point. Who the hell
17:56
Speaker 1: knows what's occurring when it comes to what went down
17:59
Speaker 1: in this jail cell? We're going to have to wait
18:01
Speaker 1: for a lot more information to come out, right? We're
18:04
Speaker 1: going to have to see more. Since Brunel's arrest, many
18:10
Speaker 1: women came forward to French authorities to report abuse, including
18:14
Speaker 1: Thissia Huisman, a Dutch former model who said she was
18:17
Speaker 1: raped by Brunel as a teen. It makes me angry
18:20
Speaker 1: because I've been fighting for years, Huisman told the AP.
18:24
Speaker 1: For me, the end of this was to be in court.
18:27
Speaker 1: And now that whole ending, which would help form closure,
18:30
Speaker 1: is taken away from me. And that's definitely a big
18:33
Speaker 1: thing with a lot of these survivors and a lot
18:35
Speaker 1: of people who go through this kind of abuse. They
18:38
Speaker 1: don't ever get the closure that they deserve because, unfortunately,
18:42
Speaker 1: a lot of times these people get away with it.
18:45
Speaker 1: And especially when we're talking about people at the very
18:48
Speaker 1: top of the rung. How many times are these people
18:50
Speaker 1: really held accountable for anything? Oh, every now and then
18:54
Speaker 1: they'll throw you a sacrificial lamb, right? You'll get yourselves
18:57
Speaker 1: a Bernie Madoff every now and then, but just take
19:00
Speaker 1: a look at the robber barons and the way they
19:02
Speaker 1: pillaged everybody's future during the financial collapse. Add on to
19:06
Speaker 1: that the transfer of wealth from the bottom up during
19:09
Speaker 1: this pandemic. And I mean, how can anyone have any
19:12
Speaker 1: faith in these people? One of Epstein's main recruiters. More
19:17
Speaker 1: than a decade ago, Epstein gave Brunel a million-dollar line
19:20
Speaker 1: of credit to start MC2. Brunel, a legendary modeling scout
19:26
Speaker 1: who had worked for decades in New York and Paris,
19:29
Speaker 1: has long been rumored to have aided and participated in
19:32
Speaker 1: Epstein's abuse of girls. Now, for those of you who've
19:35
Speaker 1: listened to the podcast, you've heard me to refer to
19:37
Speaker 1: him as the consigliere, right? Epstein, the boss of the operation.
19:42
Speaker 1: Ghislaine Maxwell, underboss. This scumbag? Consigliere. He was not just
19:48
Speaker 1: a recruiter. He was part of the nexus, the brain,
19:53
Speaker 1: if you will. And him, Maxwell, Epstein, probably Prince Andrew,
19:58
Speaker 1: were so close that it's not even funny. Just look
20:00
Speaker 1: at the pictures of Jean-Luc Brunel and Ghislaine Maxwell on
20:04
Speaker 1: the island together. Prior to MC2, Brunel had run the
20:10
Speaker 1: New York office of the famed modeling agency Karen Models
20:14
Speaker 1: for much of the 1990s. Brunel claimed to have an
20:17
Speaker 1: uncanny eye for talent and took credit for discovering a
20:20
Speaker 1: number of supermodels, including Christy Turlington, Jerry Hall, Rebecca Romaine,
20:26
Speaker 1: and Mila Jovovich. Though other agents have also taken credit
20:30
Speaker 1: for discovering them. It's all about credit with these people, right? Oh,
20:33
Speaker 1: I discovered this one. Oh, I discovered that one. Here's
20:36
Speaker 1: an idea. Why don't you do something worthwhile? One of
20:41
Speaker 1: Epstein's accusers, Virginia Roberts, said Brunel was one of Epstein's
20:45
Speaker 1: main recruiters of girls, and he would often lure them
20:48
Speaker 1: from other countries by obtaining work visas for them for modeling.
20:53
Speaker 1: No shit, that was 100% one of their scams. And
20:56
Speaker 1: just take a look at how many of these girls
20:58
Speaker 1: were brought over here, how many of them went and
21:00
Speaker 1: stayed at the building on 66th, and how many times
21:03
Speaker 1: the accusations have come forward about sham marriages to get
21:07
Speaker 1: people citizenship. What do you think, this is all just
21:10
Speaker 1: a big joke? And it's funny because the legacy media
21:13
Speaker 1: is just trying to catch up at this point. We've
21:15
Speaker 1: literally been talking about all of this stuff for like
21:18
Speaker 1: two years now. Terrifying. What about all of these unnamed girls?
21:46
Speaker 1: Ten girls at a time in these orgies? What happened
21:48
Speaker 1: to all of these girls? Where did they end up?
21:50
Speaker 1: Where did their stories go? Maritza Vasquez, Brunel's former bookkeeper
21:57
Speaker 1: in Miami Beach, told the Miami Herald in 2019 that
22:01
Speaker 1: MC2 wasn't really a functioning modeling agency, but was more
22:04
Speaker 1: a vehicle for steering young women recruited to the agency
22:07
Speaker 1: to parties at Epstein's mansion in Palm Beach in New York,
22:11
Speaker 1: and wasn't a successful business. Of course not. It was
22:13
Speaker 1: a front, like everything else they do. Remember Walter White's
22:17
Speaker 1: car wash in Breaking Bad? Eh, same thing. The only
22:21
Speaker 1: reason Mr. Epstein was involved was because of the girls,
22:25
Speaker 1: I think. Because it was not a profitable business, Vasquez
22:29
Speaker 1: told the Herald. He wanted it to be his own
22:33
Speaker 1: ground for finding women, right? A fertile ground for looking
22:37
Speaker 1: for women. Brunel's death comes days after Prince Andrew settled
22:42
Speaker 1: a lawsuit with Roberts, who said the prince sexually abused
22:45
Speaker 1: her when she was underage at multiple homes owned by Epstein.
22:51
Speaker 1: And it comes two months after Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein's former
22:54
Speaker 1: girlfriend and co-conspirator, was found guilty of five of six
22:58
Speaker 1: charges related to sex trafficking of minors. She is appealing
23:02
Speaker 1: her conviction, but her sentencing is scheduled for June. So again,
23:07
Speaker 1: Maxwell's still embroiled in this whole entire thing, right? With
23:10
Speaker 1: juror number 50, which certainly seems to not have the
23:14
Speaker 1: legs it once had, considering the whole entire situation with
23:17
Speaker 1: the sealed documents. And then when they get unsealed, it
23:20
Speaker 1: has nothing to even do with that. So Maxwell's on
23:23
Speaker 1: her own shit right now. And obviously we're going to
23:25
Speaker 1: keep an eye on that. But she is as good
23:29
Speaker 1: as cooked in my opinion, folks. Epstein was found dead
23:33
Speaker 1: in his cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan,
23:36
Speaker 1: where he was awaiting trial on charges of sex trafficking
23:39
Speaker 1: underage girls, mainly in Palm Beach, where he owned a mansion.
23:43
Speaker 1: He was accused, along with Maxwell, of building a sexual
23:47
Speaker 1: pyramid scheme involving middle school and high school girls in
23:53
Speaker 1: the 2000s. So, we all know the story. This scumbag
23:58
Speaker 1: and Ghislaine Maxwell, they both got what was coming to
24:00
Speaker 1: them at the end of the day. Obviously, just like
24:03
Speaker 1: with Brunel, Epstein should have had to stand trial, but
24:06
Speaker 1: this guy is an absolute all-time piece of shit. Dr.
24:11
Speaker 1: Michael Bodden, an expert in prison, excuse me, the New
24:15
Speaker 1: York medical examiner ruled his death a suicide by hanging,
24:18
Speaker 1: but his brother, his lawyer, and a noted forensic pathologist
24:22
Speaker 1: hired by his estate said they believed he was killed. Dr.
24:26
Speaker 1: Michael Bodden, an expert in prison deaths, told the Miami
24:29
Speaker 1: Herald that various bones in Epstein's neck were broken, including
24:33
Speaker 1: one near the Adam's apple called the hyoid bone. Now,
24:37
Speaker 1: I have uploaded an episode about Dr. Michael Bodden and
24:40
Speaker 1: what he had to say. I think I have another
24:43
Speaker 1: one in the archives. I'll dig for that and see
24:45
Speaker 1: if I do. And if I do, I'll upload that
24:47
Speaker 1: one as well. Though damage to that particular bone is
24:51
Speaker 1: more common in cases of strangulation, medical experts... also said
24:55
Speaker 1: the bone could be damaged under different circumstances in an
24:59
Speaker 1: older person. Epstein was 66. There always has to be
25:02
Speaker 1: a caveat, right, for the official narrative. But, oh, this
25:06
Speaker 1: is what really looks like happened. But here's the official
25:09
Speaker 1: narrative and here's the caveat. His death led to a
25:13
Speaker 1: spate of conspiracy theories. Again, how is it a conspiracy theory?
25:17
Speaker 1: Has anything been proved yet? I mean, and if it has,
25:20
Speaker 1: let me see the proof. I know people were running around.
25:23
Speaker 1: The New York Times had an article out. Oh, yeah,
25:26
Speaker 1: he killed himself. OK, sure, buddy. Right. His. He died
25:32
Speaker 1: one day after a federal court unsealed nearly 2,000 pages
25:36
Speaker 1: of documents that offered sordid details of the alleged trafficking
25:40
Speaker 1: of girls by the financier and his ex-girlfriend, Maxwell, co-conspirator,
25:44
Speaker 1: you mean. It is not known whether Maxwell has offered
25:48
Speaker 1: to cooperate with authorities who are investigating other possible co-conspirators.
25:53
Speaker 1: There's a little gem for you folks there. Remember I
25:55
Speaker 1: always talk about the grand jury that's still impaneled? Well...
25:59
Speaker 1: The Miami Herald right there is just confirming that for us.
26:04
Speaker 1: Coven said that the timing of Brunel's death is a
26:07
Speaker 1: hell of a coincidence. It's almost like it's someone is
26:10
Speaker 1: trying to send a message to Ghislaine to shut up. Look, again,
26:14
Speaker 1: how can we just automatically discount that option? I'm certainly
26:18
Speaker 1: not going to do it. And I'm going to continue
26:21
Speaker 1: to look at the evidence. Whichever way it is. If
26:25
Speaker 1: the evidence starts to point to things looking a bit
26:27
Speaker 1: more mysterious than the official narrative is pumping, then we're
26:31
Speaker 1: definitely going to dive in and pull that thread. Because
26:35
Speaker 1: at the end of the day, what everybody wants is answers.
26:39
Speaker 1: And the governments around the world, especially when it comes
26:42
Speaker 1: to Epstein and his friends, they have not been forthcoming. Vasquez,
26:47
Speaker 1: who worked with Brunel for 11 years, questioned whether Brunel
26:50
Speaker 1: killed himself or was killed. The same thing happened with Epstein,
26:53
Speaker 1: and somebody probably killed Jean-Luc too, Vasquez said. Ghislaine Maxwell
26:58
Speaker 1: is going to be next to commit suicide in jail.
27:00
Speaker 1: They're going to kill her also because they have to
27:03
Speaker 1: disappear these people to protect the big fish. Look, let's
27:07
Speaker 1: just be honest, that's what everybody's thinking, right? I try
27:10
Speaker 1: not to chase my own biases, of course, because I
27:13
Speaker 1: feel like that's very harmful and it doesn't do anyone
27:16
Speaker 1: any good here if I'm just chasing what I, you know,
27:19
Speaker 1: want to be the truth. So I try to keep
27:21
Speaker 1: an open mind and not chase my biases, but it's
27:24
Speaker 1: very hard to discount what this gentleman's saying here about,
27:27
Speaker 1: you know, doing some cleanup work. Vasquez described Brunel and
27:33
Speaker 1: Epstein as good friends, who both had an appetite for
27:36
Speaker 1: young girls and used the agency as a recruiting pipeline,
27:40
Speaker 1: especially for poor girls from Brazil and Eastern Europe. So,
27:45
Speaker 1: I know it's a, uh... Probably not a high likely ability.
27:50
Speaker 1: Likeability I mean. But if anybody's out there. And they're
27:54
Speaker 1: from Brazil or Eastern Europe. And they dealt with Jeffrey Epstein.
27:58
Speaker 1: I think now's the time to come forward. You'll find
28:01
Speaker 1: yourself with a lot of people who are not going
28:05
Speaker 1: to judge you at this point, right? And willing to listen.
28:08
Speaker 1: So my advice to anyone who has been caught up
28:11
Speaker 1: in a case with these people or caught up with
28:13
Speaker 1: Jeffrey Epstein and they haven't come forward yet, get in
28:16
Speaker 1: touch with somebody like Bradley Edwards or something. Because I
28:19
Speaker 1: think that people like that, Bradley Edwards and even the
28:22
Speaker 1: Spencer Coven cat, I think these are the kind of
28:25
Speaker 1: people that Epstein and his remnants fear because they're the
28:29
Speaker 1: kind of lawyers that don't stop. Epstein told Vasquez at
28:34
Speaker 1: the MC2 launch party that he admired Donald Trump's T-Models
28:38
Speaker 1: agency and aspired to have one just like it. Oh yeah,
28:42
Speaker 1: that's nice, huh? Two peas in a pod. I'm sad
28:46
Speaker 1: to hear of Jean-Luc's death, said Vasquez, who named Brunel
28:49
Speaker 1: godfather of one of her sons. I think, for the
28:51
Speaker 1: most part, he wanted to help these young models and
28:54
Speaker 1: their families. The fact that his friend Epstein was an
28:56
Speaker 1: evil person doesn't mean he was evil. So it's always
28:59
Speaker 1: back to that, right? It's always just Epstein. No one
29:02
Speaker 1: else was involved. Jeffrey Epstein did all of this himself,
29:05
Speaker 1: facilitated it all himself, groomed them all himself, flew around
29:09
Speaker 1: Europe and found them all himself. I mean, come on, man.
29:14
Speaker 1: On Twitter Saturday, Roberts said she was disappointed she wasn't
29:17
Speaker 1: able to see Brunel face justice. The suicide of Jean-Luc Brunel,
29:22
Speaker 1: who abused me and countless other girls and young women,
29:25
Speaker 1: ends another chapter. I'm disappointed that I wasn't able to
29:28
Speaker 1: face him in a final trial and hold him accountable
29:31
Speaker 1: but gratified that I was able to testify in person
29:34
Speaker 1: last year to keep him in prison. And that's definitely
29:38
Speaker 1: a huge deal for her, right? She might not have
29:40
Speaker 1: been able to see him all the way through here
29:43
Speaker 1: and see him get sentenced and convicted, but it was
29:45
Speaker 1: her testimony that had him in that jail cell in
29:48
Speaker 1: the first place. Although some former models allegedly abused and
29:53
Speaker 1: exploited by Brunel are disappointed he will not go to trial,
29:57
Speaker 1: Zoe Brock said her reaction was good riddance to an
30:00
Speaker 1: irredeemable person, a nauseating little garden gnome who was never
30:04
Speaker 1: going to admit wrongdoing and was never going to name names.
30:08
Speaker 1: So look, that's somebody who knew him, right? Again, I
30:11
Speaker 1: didn't know the guy. All we have to go on
30:12
Speaker 1: is what others are telling us. Brock said she was
30:16
Speaker 1: 17 when she met Brunel in 1991, when her agency
30:20
Speaker 1: in New Zealand sent her to Paris to work for him.
30:23
Speaker 1: She joined other young models bunking in the maids' quarters
30:27
Speaker 1: at Brunel's ornate Avenue Hoche apartment, where they had to
30:31
Speaker 1: constantly fend off his advances and his offers of cocaine,
30:35
Speaker 1: and were expected to party with him and his wealthy
30:37
Speaker 1: businessman pals at nightclubs. And that's when the grooming process
30:41
Speaker 1: would begin, right? He'd get them all ready to go. Look,
30:44
Speaker 1: this is all part of your job, going out with
30:45
Speaker 1: these guys. If you want to get a modeling gig,
30:47
Speaker 1: this is how it works. So then he sends them
30:49
Speaker 1: to New York, to Epstein, and they get out on
30:52
Speaker 1: the circuit, don't they? Hussman stayed in that model's room,
31:01
Speaker 1: stayed in that model's room, too, and said she woke
31:04
Speaker 1: up one morning to Brunel's bed, certain that he spiked
31:07
Speaker 1: her drink and raped her. Five years after she was
31:10
Speaker 1: able to leave Brunel and Paris behind by finding work
31:13
Speaker 1: through other agents, Brock was accosted by a naked Harvey
31:17
Speaker 1: Weinstein in a hotel room at the Cannes Film Festival.
31:22
Speaker 1: I mean, really? What in the hell, man? How in
31:25
Speaker 1: the hell are all of these scumbag people able to
31:28
Speaker 1: conduct themselves the way they do for so long before
31:32
Speaker 1: anybody outs them? I will just never understand it. The
31:36
Speaker 1: next winter, she met Donald Trump when she and 25
31:40
Speaker 1: other models working in Miami Beach were paid to attend
31:43
Speaker 1: what she described as a disgusting party for older men
31:46
Speaker 1: at Mar-a-Lago. Brock was in the group of more than
31:49
Speaker 1: 30 women in the Me Too movement who accused Weinstein
31:53
Speaker 1: of sexual misconduct and reached a $ 25 million settlement with
31:57
Speaker 1: him and his bankrupt film studio. Whether it's Epstein, Weinstein, Brunel,
32:03
Speaker 1: or any other predator, there are dozens and dozens who
32:06
Speaker 1: conspired to help them, and they have escaped justice, she said.
32:09
Speaker 1: We may have changed the parameters for sexual assault trials,
32:13
Speaker 1: but we haven't changed creepy men. We've only made them
32:16
Speaker 1: more careful. She's not wrong about that. We've talked about
32:19
Speaker 1: this a million times. How many more Epsteins are out there?
32:21
Speaker 1: How many more sick fucks just like this dude are
32:24
Speaker 1: out there, conducting their business the same way, and treating
32:27
Speaker 1: people like absolute... Trash. Epstein and Brunel were made for
32:34
Speaker 1: each other. They were both perverted criminals. The only consolation
32:38
Speaker 1: is they spent their last days in jail feeling scared. Yeah,
32:42
Speaker 1: you look, that is some consolation, right? Of course, the
32:45
Speaker 1: best outcome would be to try these people, indict them,
32:49
Speaker 1: convict them, and have them spill all of the names.
32:53
Speaker 1: That didn't happen. So let's hope moving forward, as this
32:58
Speaker 1: investigation continues into the other co-conspirators, that we are granted
33:03
Speaker 1: some more clarity in all of this murky water. All right, everybody,
33:09
Speaker 1: that's going to do it for tonight's update. Like usual,
33:13
Speaker 1: some context episodes are on their way. And then tomorrow morning,
33:16
Speaker 1: we'll be back at it, picking it up for the
33:18
Speaker 1: morning update to see where everything stands. If you'd like
33:22
Speaker 1: to contact me, you can do that at bobbycapucci at protonmail.com.
33:26
Speaker 1: That's B-O-B-B-Y-C-A-P-U-C-C-I at protonmail.com. You can also find me on
33:33
Speaker 1: Twitter at B-O-B-B-Y underscore C-A-P-U-C-C-I. The links that we discussed
33:40
Speaker 1: in this episode can be found in the description box.
33:44
Speaker 1: All right, everybody, have a great night, and I will
33:46
Speaker 1: be back tomorrow. Welcome back to the Epstein Chronicles. Tonight,
33:52
Speaker 1: we're going to jump right back in to the death
33:54
Speaker 1: of Jean-Luc Brunel and hopefully add a little more context.
33:59
Speaker 1: Since this guy has been found in his jail cell,
34:01
Speaker 1: there has been a ton of questions, obviously, about what happened.
34:07
Speaker 1: And since then, we have gotten some information, but as usual,
34:11
Speaker 1: we don't have the full picture about what occurred. We
34:14
Speaker 1: don't know exactly what went down in that jail cell. So,
34:17
Speaker 1: of course, there's going to be a bunch of speculation.
34:22
Speaker 1: And from where I'm sitting here in the peanut gallery,
34:24
Speaker 1: I don't know how anyone can say one way or
34:27
Speaker 1: the other what went down here. There is just not
34:30
Speaker 1: enough there yet as far as information is concerned, for
34:33
Speaker 1: me anyway, to come to a conclusion one way or
34:36
Speaker 1: the other. Like I explained on the other episode we
34:40
Speaker 1: did on Jean-Luc Brunel the other day, it's different with
34:43
Speaker 1: the Epstein situation considering all of the coincidences that led
34:48
Speaker 1: up to that. The fact that he was in that
34:50
Speaker 1: jail cell with Tartaglione and the rest of it. Whereas here,
34:54
Speaker 1: it just looks like this guy kind of timed it correctly, right?
34:58
Speaker 1: Knew when the guards were doing their rounds and was
35:01
Speaker 1: able to clip himself. And even in the Epstein case,
35:06
Speaker 1: I am more than willing to believe that he killed
35:09
Speaker 1: himself as well if the evidence is provided. For me,
35:14
Speaker 1: that's the most important part, right? Where is the evidence?
35:16
Speaker 1: Where does it lead us? I don't want to run
35:18
Speaker 1: around looking like some kind of Yahoo chasing my tail
35:21
Speaker 1: like a lot of these other people do. Who has
35:23
Speaker 1: time for that shit? This is already way too time-consuming
35:26
Speaker 1: for me. Never mind chasing down weird conspiracy theories all
35:30
Speaker 1: over the place. So I'll let other people do that
35:33
Speaker 1: and I'll just chill here and remain agnostic and take
35:36
Speaker 1: the information as it comes and then process it and
35:40
Speaker 1: try and come up with a logical conclusion. So... That's
35:44
Speaker 1: why it's so important to continue to add context. To
35:46
Speaker 1: continue to add even just if it's one little gem.
35:50
Speaker 1: Gotta add it to the catalog. Because that could be
35:52
Speaker 1: the key to making everything more clear, right? So tonight,
35:57
Speaker 1: that's what we're going to attempt to do. And unfortunately,
36:01
Speaker 1: breaking news, we don't have any breaking news. That's not
36:04
Speaker 1: what I do here. I process the news, I curate
36:07
Speaker 1: the news, and we discuss it. But what I try
36:09
Speaker 1: to do is add as much context as possible... That
36:12
Speaker 1: way you folks are armed and prepared when the next
36:16
Speaker 1: article comes out or the next situation pops up. So
36:20
Speaker 1: with that said, why don't we jump into this article
36:22
Speaker 1: from 20 minutes over in France and let's see what
36:27
Speaker 1: author Thibault Chebier and Philippe Berry have to say. Headline,
36:35
Speaker 1: Epstein case. The suicide of Jean-Luc Brunel. End of the
36:39
Speaker 1: French part of the investigation. And you would think, right, look,
36:42
Speaker 1: it sounds bad. Oh, that's the end of the investigation.
36:46
Speaker 1: But this is what happens when people die. You don't
36:48
Speaker 1: keep investigating them after they're dead. We learned that with
36:51
Speaker 1: Jeffrey Epstein, didn't we? So I would expect the same
36:55
Speaker 1: thing to be true here. Now, I don't know if
36:58
Speaker 1: that means the investigation is dead completely in France. We'll
37:01
Speaker 1: have to continue to see what happens. But I don't
37:04
Speaker 1: know what else they have to go on over there. Unless,
37:07
Speaker 1: of course, they have something on Ghislaine Maxwell or Prince
37:10
Speaker 1: Andrew or something. Then, obviously, they would keep the investigation open.
37:14
Speaker 1: But I'm not too sure what the process is over
37:16
Speaker 1: here as far as, like, do they do the grand
37:19
Speaker 1: jury type deal? Or, you know, the laws are different everywhere, right?
37:23
Speaker 1: So there's all sorts of different nuances and minute details
37:28
Speaker 1: that come into play. So it'll be interesting to see
37:31
Speaker 1: if this is the end of their investigation completely, or
37:37
Speaker 1: if there'll be some side investigations, perhaps. The death of
37:44
Speaker 1: Jean-Luc Brunel undoubtedly marks the end of the investigations in
37:48
Speaker 1: France concerning the Epstein case. Well, there you have it.
37:51
Speaker 1: That's the end of that. So Jean-Luc Brunel, obviously, no
37:55
Speaker 1: longer going to be investigated in France. And according to
37:58
Speaker 1: this article, maybe not even any more investigations at all.
38:03
Speaker 1: For the investigators who have been working on this file
38:06
Speaker 1: for several months, it is a disappointment. It has to be.
38:10
Speaker 1: You know, you think about it. You're one of these cops,
38:12
Speaker 1: one of these honest cops that's out here that actually
38:15
Speaker 1: wants to make a difference, wants to bag and nab
38:19
Speaker 1: perpetrators like Maxwell and Brunel, put them in prison for
38:23
Speaker 1: the rest of their lives. And then they do that.
38:26
Speaker 1: They put him in prison, put him in jail. And
38:28
Speaker 1: while he's there in custody, in their charge, he ends
38:31
Speaker 1: up dead. It has to be frustrating as hell. And
38:35
Speaker 1: you heard from a lot of the police officers who
38:38
Speaker 1: were involved in the original arrest of Jeffrey Epstein in
38:41
Speaker 1: Palm Beach. They felt the same way. They were disgusted
38:45
Speaker 1: by all of it. The way it went down and
38:48
Speaker 1: then obviously Jeffrey Epstein being able to kill himself while
38:52
Speaker 1: in their custody. The police of the Central Office for
38:56
Speaker 1: the Suppression of Violence Against the Person spared no effort
39:00
Speaker 1: and carried out more than half a thousand hearings to
39:03
Speaker 1: try to find other women who were allegedly victims of
39:06
Speaker 1: the former French model agent. Wow. So they were pretty
39:09
Speaker 1: busy over here in France, according to this article. More
39:12
Speaker 1: than half a thousand, so more than 500 hearings to
39:16
Speaker 1: try and find other women who were allegedly victims of
39:20
Speaker 1: Jean-Luc Brunel. That's pretty significant. I wonder what they came
39:24
Speaker 1: up with I mean I guess we'll never know if
39:27
Speaker 1: this investigation is going to end. I'm guessing they'll just
39:30
Speaker 1: ice it. Probably never release it for public consumption. Again,
39:35
Speaker 1: I'm not too sure. Is there like a Freedom of
39:37
Speaker 1: Information Act you can file over in France to get documentation?
39:42
Speaker 1: Or is it something that when the government says, look,
39:44
Speaker 1: it's a wrap, it's a wrap. So we'll have to
39:47
Speaker 1: see what comes of it. But It is definitely disappointing.
39:53
Speaker 1: And if you think the investigators are disappointed, how do
39:56
Speaker 1: you think some of these survivors feel? And you can't
39:59
Speaker 1: say all of them, right? Because some who maybe the
40:01
Speaker 1: Statue of Limitations has run out on them or who
40:05
Speaker 1: weren't having their voices heard for whatever reason, I'm sure
40:08
Speaker 1: a lot of them are happy that the dude is dead.
40:11
Speaker 1: I know that's kind of crude to say, but it's
40:14
Speaker 1: the truth. If somebody wrongs you in such a way,
40:18
Speaker 1: it's only... Natural. And it's only a human emotion for
40:21
Speaker 1: you to want to see them be hurt or punished
40:25
Speaker 1: in some way as well. When he hanged himself in
40:31
Speaker 1: his cell in the prison of health last weekend in Paris,
40:34
Speaker 1: this close to the American billionaire Jeffrey Epstein was indicted
40:38
Speaker 1: for rape of two women when they were minors and
40:41
Speaker 1: for sexual harassment on a former babysitter. So again, we
40:45
Speaker 1: know what he was in there for. We know the
40:48
Speaker 1: nature of the allegations against him. And in fact, I
40:51
Speaker 1: won't even call them allegations. That's how confident I am
40:55
Speaker 1: that this shit really happened. There's no gray area here, folks, right?
40:59
Speaker 1: When there's this many women who come out, this many
41:01
Speaker 1: people who come out, and the writing is on the wall,
41:05
Speaker 1: why even give these people the benefit of the doubt?
41:08
Speaker 1: They don't deserve it. People like him, people like Epstein,
41:11
Speaker 1: they do not deserve it. Accused of having played the
41:15
Speaker 1: touter for Jeffrey Epstein, Brunel was also placed under the
41:20
Speaker 1: intermediate status of assisted witness for the facts of aggravated
41:24
Speaker 1: human trafficking to the detriment of minor victims for the
41:28
Speaker 1: purpose of sexual exploitation. Now let that settle in for
41:31
Speaker 1: a minute. Think about how heinous and disgusting of an
41:37
Speaker 1: excuse of a human being you have to be to
41:40
Speaker 1: engage in something like that. Aggravated human trafficking to the
41:44
Speaker 1: detriment of minor victims for the purpose of sexual exploitation?
41:50
Speaker 1: There is not a hell hot enough for this dude
41:53
Speaker 1: to burn in, in my opinion. But the police suspected Brunel,
41:58
Speaker 1: above all of having abused in the 1980s, many young
42:02
Speaker 1: women from modest backgrounds to whom he promised a career
42:05
Speaker 1: in modeling and modeling. And that's for sure. That was
42:09
Speaker 1: the M.O. Him and Jeffrey Epstein both used that. And
42:12
Speaker 1: I wouldn't be surprised if Epstein took that right from
42:16
Speaker 1: Brunel's playbook. Let's not act like Brunel met Epstein and
42:20
Speaker 1: then all of a sudden became this predator and this
42:22
Speaker 1: sick fuck. These guys were a match made in heaven, right?
42:25
Speaker 1: Perfect for each other. Talk about fellow travelers and all.
42:30
Speaker 1: So they got together and it was perfect. Jeffrey Epstein,
42:35
Speaker 1: he had the money, he had the means, he had
42:37
Speaker 1: the people. And Jean-Luc Brunel, well, he had access to
42:41
Speaker 1: a bunch of vulnerable girls from war-torn countries, developing countries,
42:46
Speaker 1: places where poverty is a everyday reality. And this dude
42:51
Speaker 1: had access to all of that. And he used his power,
42:55
Speaker 1: he used his prestige to bring those girls into Jeffrey
42:58
Speaker 1: Epstein's orbit for all of them to abuse them. So yeah,
43:02
Speaker 1: there is not a hell hot enough for this sick
43:05
Speaker 1: fuck to burn in, in my opinion. The problem? The
43:09
Speaker 1: facts denounced were often prescribed. We would have preferred him
43:12
Speaker 1: to be judged for all his work, it's obvious. Confides
43:16
Speaker 1: bitterly a source close to the file who sees in
43:19
Speaker 1: his gesture a form of confession? Oh, I agree with that.
43:23
Speaker 1: There's no doubt. Look, of course, you want to see
43:26
Speaker 1: this through, especially if you're one of the people who
43:28
Speaker 1: were abused. You want to stare this sick bastard down,
43:31
Speaker 1: and you want to know that he's going to prison
43:33
Speaker 1: to rot away for the rest of his life. But...
43:37
Speaker 1: Short of that, at least this motherfucker ain't running around free.
43:41
Speaker 1: At least he's never going to hurt anybody ever again.
43:44
Speaker 1: And obviously anyone paying attention to the situation knows that
43:48
Speaker 1: this is an admission of guilt. An honest man doesn't
43:51
Speaker 1: do this. An honest man doesn't pay $ 17 million to
43:55
Speaker 1: somebody they don't know. Two previous suicide attempts. Since the
44:01
Speaker 1: beginning of the case, Jean-Luc Brunel, 75, claimed his innocence.
44:06
Speaker 1: Arrested in December 2020 at Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris,
44:10
Speaker 1: as he was about to fly to Senegal, he was
44:13
Speaker 1: remanded in custody. Of course he said he was innocent.
44:16
Speaker 1: What's he going to say? Nope, I did it all.
44:18
Speaker 1: I think you guys should take me to whatever the
44:20
Speaker 1: worst prison we have in the country is and let
44:22
Speaker 1: me rot there. Of course he's going to say he
44:24
Speaker 1: didn't do anything. In fact, Jean-Luc Brunel was so brazen
44:28
Speaker 1: and had such a set on him that he even
44:30
Speaker 1: just tried to blame it all on Epstein. Oh, Epstein
44:32
Speaker 1: did this, Epstein did that, Epstein stole from me, yada, yada, yada.
44:37
Speaker 1: Notice when Epstein was alive, none of that shit was occurring, right?
44:41
Speaker 1: This guy is the ultimate scoundrel, the ultimate coward. And
44:46
Speaker 1: for him to have previous suicide attempts while in custody here,
44:52
Speaker 1: that really is strong evidence, to me anyway, that this
44:55
Speaker 1: third time was, you know, the successful time that he
44:59
Speaker 1: actually was able to make it work. On February 19th,
45:06
Speaker 1: at 1.50 a.m., guards found him hanged in the cell
45:09
Speaker 1: where he was alone. Despite the intervention of the rescuers,
45:13
Speaker 1: he was declared dead at 2.05 a.m. According to our information,
45:17
Speaker 1: during the 14 months of his detention, Jean-Luc Brunel had
45:21
Speaker 1: made two suicide attempts. And again, I believe that that's
45:24
Speaker 1: a big part of the story here, right? And what
45:27
Speaker 1: is at least making me lean towards the fact that
45:30
Speaker 1: he probably did kill himself. That and, of course, if
45:34
Speaker 1: there was no one else in the cell with him,
45:35
Speaker 1: then it's a little difficult for him to have been clipped, right? Now,
45:40
Speaker 1: if he was found poisoned in there or something, that's
45:42
Speaker 1: completely different. But unless somebody was crawling through an air vent,
45:46
Speaker 1: and again, look, I'm not going to sit here and
45:48
Speaker 1: say it didn't happen. I have no idea. Do I
45:50
Speaker 1: think it's likely? No, not at all. But until we
45:54
Speaker 1: have all of the evidence, like usual, we have stressed
45:59
Speaker 1: on many occasions that he is in a very degraded
46:02
Speaker 1: state of health. An expert psychiatrist had indicated that there
46:06
Speaker 1: was a risk of particular psychological fragility in the event
46:10
Speaker 1: of prolonged detention. His lawyers, Matthias, Cic Portich, Marianne, Abigail,
46:17
Speaker 1: and Christoph Ingrain, told 20 Minutes. So, yeah, obviously, right?
46:22
Speaker 1: And again... Look at the situation with Epstein, and then
46:26
Speaker 1: look over here at Brunel. Epstein's lawyers and everyone around
46:29
Speaker 1: him were saying a whole different story. He wasn't depressed,
46:32
Speaker 1: he wasn't suicidal, he was nowhere near being suicidal, none
46:36
Speaker 1: of it. Whereas Jean-Luc Brunel and the people around him,
46:40
Speaker 1: including psychiatrists, are over here saying, yeah, dude wasn't right
46:43
Speaker 1: in the head. And he knew. The writing was on
46:46
Speaker 1: the wall for this scumbag, and he knew that he
46:49
Speaker 1: was going to spend the rest of his life in prison.
46:53
Speaker 1: And the coward that he is, he couldn't take it.
46:56
Speaker 1: He couldn't take the fact that he'd have to own
46:58
Speaker 1: up to the abuse, and he certainly couldn't take the
47:01
Speaker 1: fact that he'd have to pay the price. Detained with
47:05
Speaker 1: other VIPs in the QB4 ward for low quarter number four,
47:10
Speaker 1: Jean-Luc Brunel was the subject of a special supervision by
47:13
Speaker 1: the prison staff. In the event that a prisoner has
47:17
Speaker 1: already had suicidal crisis, it may be decided, with the medical,
47:21
Speaker 1: to set up a special supervision, explains Erwin Ceudi, delegate
47:25
Speaker 1: of the FO prison, Union of the Ile-de-France. At night,
47:29
Speaker 1: we'll go more regularly to do a check with the
47:32
Speaker 1: islet to make sure that that person is well. An
47:35
Speaker 1: average inmate, we will do three visual checks during the night.
47:38
Speaker 1: There will almost double... Number of controls. But you can't
47:42
Speaker 1: go there every hour either because it's also oppressive for
47:45
Speaker 1: the detainee. You have to find the right balance. Well,
47:49
Speaker 1: this is where I differ. If you're a detainee of
47:53
Speaker 1: high value and somebody who is being held and you're
47:56
Speaker 1: at risk of suicide or someone else hurting you or whatever,
48:00
Speaker 1: you should be under constant supervision. And if that means
48:02
Speaker 1: a camera in your cell, so be it. Sorry, that's
48:06
Speaker 1: just the way it goes. Because if not, we have
48:09
Speaker 1: ourselves a complete shitshow, right? Dude, you end up dead.
48:12
Speaker 1: Now you got all kinds of weird, crazy theories going
48:15
Speaker 1: out there. The narrative's thrown into the, you know, the
48:18
Speaker 1: washing machine. And it's a whole big problem. So why
48:21
Speaker 1: not just be more cautious and keep an eye on
48:24
Speaker 1: these types of people? And then once they're convicted, after
48:27
Speaker 1: their trial, then they can go back to having no
48:30
Speaker 1: camera in their cell, go live in general population if
48:32
Speaker 1: that's what you want to do. I don't care. The
48:35
Speaker 1: second you're convicted, the second that it's all said and done,
48:39
Speaker 1: and the state, the people, and the survivors themselves get justice,
48:45
Speaker 1: I don't care what happens to these people. They can
48:47
Speaker 1: go to prison and rot there for all I care.
48:50
Speaker 1: There is no rehabilitation for people like this. When it
48:54
Speaker 1: comes to other crimes, just about any other crime, I'm
48:57
Speaker 1: all about being rehabilitated and prisons helping people get rehabilitated.
49:02
Speaker 1: But when you're hurting women and children and you're doing
49:05
Speaker 1: it in a careless manner, the way Jean-Luc Brunel and
49:08
Speaker 1: Jeffrey Epstein were? Yeah, sorry, I don't give a flying
49:11
Speaker 1: fuck about you. Presumed guilty. An investigation entrusted to the
49:18
Speaker 1: 3rd District of Judicial Police... was opened by the Paris
49:21
Speaker 1: Prosecutor's Office to shed light on the causes of his death.
49:25
Speaker 1: In particular, investigators can rely on the images of the
49:29
Speaker 1: surveillance cameras installed in the corridor to ensure that these
49:32
Speaker 1: checks have been carried out. So, obviously they're going to
49:35
Speaker 1: have to go through all of the tape. They probably have,
49:37
Speaker 1: who knows. and they'll know if these guards were doing
49:40
Speaker 1: their due diligence, or if they were sleeping like the
49:43
Speaker 1: guards who were supposed to be watching Epstein. And we'll
49:47
Speaker 1: get more information, obviously, as it comes out, but so far,
49:51
Speaker 1: it seems like they were on their game, and they
49:54
Speaker 1: were doing their checks, at least. The results of the autopsy,
49:58
Speaker 1: which was carried out on Monday, are not yet known,
50:01
Speaker 1: although there is almost no doubt that Jean-Luc Brunel ended
50:05
Speaker 1: his life alone, Again, if there was no one in
50:07
Speaker 1: that cell, it's going to be a hard sell to
50:11
Speaker 1: get me to believe it, right? How did someone kill
50:15
Speaker 1: him if there's no one else in that cell? And
50:18
Speaker 1: if there's video evidence that no one was in or out,
50:21
Speaker 1: all right, well, it's a lot more believable than the
50:24
Speaker 1: bullshit they're trying to pump about Epstein, no? And again,
50:27
Speaker 1: I'm not saying that I do believe that this happened.
50:30
Speaker 1: I don't know. Let me see the video myself at
50:32
Speaker 1: this point. That's where I'm at. According to his lawyers,
50:38
Speaker 1: the man felt that he was presumed guilty and that
50:41
Speaker 1: the media judicial sentence had already fallen. Nothing justified prison anymore,
50:45
Speaker 1: according to the judge of freedoms and detention. Judicial review
50:50
Speaker 1: would have been the simple and strict application of the
50:52
Speaker 1: law in cases like this, they add. Well, look, dude,
50:55
Speaker 1: you don't want to go to prison and you're depressed
50:57
Speaker 1: because you're in prison. Here's an idea. Don't molest, don't
51:01
Speaker 1: rape and don't sexually assault people. Then you don't have
51:04
Speaker 1: to worry about going to prison. And as far as
51:06
Speaker 1: being found guilty before, bro, decades of evidence, plenty of
51:11
Speaker 1: people coming forward. Not this is in gray area. He said,
51:14
Speaker 1: she said one person coming forward, you know, no evidence
51:18
Speaker 1: to back it up. None of that. At his request,
51:23
Speaker 1: Jean-Luc Brunel was to be confronted on March 11th with
51:26
Speaker 1: two of his accusers, a former babysitter and a foreign model.
51:30
Speaker 1: I didn't think my clients would consent to the confrontation
51:33
Speaker 1: because I know that psychologically it was quite complex. We
51:37
Speaker 1: had started working on it and they wanted to go
51:39
Speaker 1: to the end of the process, pass the course and
51:41
Speaker 1: be in the same room as him. It's not easy,
51:44
Speaker 1: says their lawyer and Claire Lejeune. So you have two
51:47
Speaker 1: of the people who were accusing him were preparing to
51:49
Speaker 1: confront him in this jail over this, these allegations. And
51:55
Speaker 1: with that date quickly approaching, well, you know, So, again,
52:01
Speaker 1: like we asked at the beginning, is this the end
52:03
Speaker 1: of the case in France? And it certainly looks to
52:05
Speaker 1: be that way, folks. For the plaintiffs, it is a
52:31
Speaker 1: feeling of frustration that dominates. Brunel will never have the
52:35
Speaker 1: opportunity to explain himself in court. He was still indicted
52:38
Speaker 1: and remanded in custody. My clients are aware that their
52:41
Speaker 1: words has still been taken into consideration, says Anne-Claire Lejeune.
52:46
Speaker 1: Before concluding, there was a will that went beyond their
52:49
Speaker 1: own interest. They did so for those who denounced prescribed facts.
52:55
Speaker 1: There was something quite strong in their approach... It's a
52:57
Speaker 1: real shame. And it is. And we've seen it how
53:00
Speaker 1: many times now as far as the Epstein case goes.
53:03
Speaker 1: We just saw it with the Supreme Court acting like
53:06
Speaker 1: a bunch of morons not taking this case. We see
53:09
Speaker 1: it here. I mean, you just see it over and
53:11
Speaker 1: over and over again, the lack of justice. And what's
53:15
Speaker 1: so galling about it is all of these people were
53:18
Speaker 1: right there for the federal government to swoop up, for
53:20
Speaker 1: the federal government to punish. And instead, they had better
53:25
Speaker 1: things to do, obviously. So people like Epstein and Brunel
53:28
Speaker 1: and Maxwell were able to go on for decades, literally decades,
53:32
Speaker 1: and abuse people. Finally, he gets arrested and it's almost
53:38
Speaker 1: time for justice. And this son of a bitch somehow
53:41
Speaker 1: wiggles off the hook once again. So there you have it, folks.
53:46
Speaker 1: A little more context for the death of Jean-Luc Brunel,
53:49
Speaker 1: as much as we have anyway. And I figure the
53:51
Speaker 1: best way to do it is go directly to the
53:53
Speaker 1: source in France... And, you know, follow the story right
53:56
Speaker 1: along with them. So that's what we'll continue to do here.
54:00
Speaker 1: And we'll continue to add nuggets as they pop up.
54:03
Speaker 1: But one thing is for sure, there is still a
54:05
Speaker 1: lot of questions that need to be answered. And there
54:08
Speaker 1: are still, unfortunately, a lot of curveballs coming our way.
54:14
Speaker 1: That's going to do it for tonight's episode. Obviously, some
54:17
Speaker 1: context episodes on their way tomorrow morning. Be right back
54:21
Speaker 1: at it, bright and early, and we'll see where we're at.
