- 0:00There are many things in the world that we cannot directly
- 0:03observe with our senses, yet which we otherwise believe to be
- 0:08real based on the noticeable and palpable effects they have.
- 0:13We cannot see gravity, but we feel its effects.
- 0:18Similarly, we cannot see electricity, but we not only can
- 0:23experience the effects, but we have learned how to channel it,
- 0:27amplify it, and reduce its force to manageable levels for our
- 0:32intended uses. Radioactivity, similarly, is
- 0:37unseen but able to be measured and its effects recognized in
- 0:41the changes that occur within the individual subjected to it.
- 0:45There are any number of similar things that we know, but which
- 0:49are not visible to our sight. The spiritual force is not
- 0:54recognized by those who have not had the actual experience.
- 0:59The experience may be palpable as many individuals relate the
- 1:03sense of an overpowering energy or force coming down through the
- 1:07crown of the head, in some cases with a sensation of drilling or
- 1:12some kind of pressure. Others relate the activation of
- 1:16the various chakras, the subtle energy centers and new powers
- 1:21awakening within them when that happens.
- 1:24Still others describe the rising of the sleeping energy from the
- 1:28base of the being up through the subtle spinal channels to meet
- 1:32the energy centre above the head, what is called the rising
- 1:37of the Kundalini force, the coiled serpent power awakening
- 1:41and rising to energize the awareness and join with the
- 1:45divine consciousness. For others, the experience can
- 1:50be more subtle but nevertheless real to the seeker who
- 1:54experiences it. As we have learned with regard
- 1:57to material forces such as electricity, the spiritual force
- 2:02can also be called channelled and activated in various ways by
- 2:07the experienced yogic practitioner, Srioro Bindo
- 2:11writes quote. In this yoga the whole principle
- 2:15is to open oneself to the divine influence.
- 2:19It is there above you, and if you can once become conscious of
- 2:24it, you have then to call it down into you.
- 2:27It descends into the mind and into the body as peace, as a
- 2:32light, as a force that works, as the presence of the Divine, with
- 2:38or without form, as Ananda. Before one has this
- 2:43consciousness one has to have faith and aspire for the
- 2:46opening. Aspiration, call, prayer are
- 2:51forms of 1 and the same thing and are all effective.
- 2:56You can take the form that comes to you or is easiest to you.
- 3:01The other way is concentration. You concentrate your
- 3:04consciousness in the heart. Some do it in the head or above
- 3:08the head and meditate on the mother in the heart and call her
- 3:12in there. One can do either and both at
- 3:16different times. Whatever comes naturally to you
- 3:20or you are moved to do at the moment.
- 3:23Especially in the beginning, the one great necessity is to get
- 3:27the mind quiet. Reject at the time of meditation
- 3:31all thoughts and movements that are foreign to the sadhna.
- 3:35In the quiet mind there will be a progressive preparation for
- 3:39the experience. But you must not become
- 3:42impatient if all is not done at once.
- 3:46It takes time to bring entire quiet into the mind.
- 3:50You have to go on till the consciousness is ready.
