- 0:00Speaker 1: And so my fellow Americans, ask not what your country
- 0:06Speaker 1: can do for you, ask what you can do for
- 0:09Speaker 1: your country.
- 0:14Speaker 2: Do you remember when JFK said that? If you're around
- 0:19Speaker 2: or have you ever heard that clip before from John F.
- 0:21Speaker 2: Kennedy Junior. I'm sure we all have President Kennedy and
- 0:25Speaker 2: its inaugural address, and he said, ask not what you
- 0:32Speaker 2: can do what the country can do for you, but
- 0:35Speaker 2: what you can do for your country. And as powerful
- 0:39Speaker 2: a statement as that is, mean, how can you give
- 0:43Speaker 2: back into a government that supports you, and how can
- 0:48Speaker 2: you actually do for yourself and not rely on the government. Well,
- 0:55Speaker 2: we've got a twenty twenty five version of that quote.
- 0:58Speaker 2: Lady and gentlemen, ask not what the country can vemo you,
- 1:04Speaker 2: but what you can memo your country. It's come out
- 1:09Speaker 2: over the last couple of days, as onely up on
- 1:13Speaker 2: news update. Beyond the craziness that is Pambondi the Attorney
- 1:19Speaker 2: General skipping a human trafficking conference after she's obviously not
- 1:24Speaker 2: been releasing the Epstein files, that's been crazy, but I
- 1:28Speaker 2: think this one ups it Venmo and Payvalu users. According
- 1:32Speaker 2: to the New York Posts, ari Ariel Zobert can now
- 1:36Speaker 2: send money to the US government to help pay down
- 1:40Speaker 2: thirty six point seven trillion national debt. You can access
- 1:48Speaker 2: the Gifts to Reduce the Public Debt page on pay
- 1:52Speaker 2: dot gov. And the expansion of payment options comes to
- 1:55Speaker 2: a growing concern which has served from nineteen point five
- 2:00Speaker 2: to nine trillion twenty ten to its current level and
- 2:04Speaker 2: increase of eighty seven percent. By the way, this program
- 2:07Speaker 2: has existed since nineteen ninety six. And you know how
- 2:10Speaker 2: many people have contributed to lower our debt. Sixty sixty
- 2:16Speaker 2: seven point three million dollars alone has been contributed to
- 2:21Speaker 2: lower the debt. That's not enough. And of course now
- 2:27Speaker 2: the spending bill and the different spending bills since ninety
- 2:31Speaker 2: six have been passed have raised the debt. And this
- 2:35Speaker 2: big beautiful bill raises the debt. But here comes the
- 2:40Speaker 2: Treasury saying, Hey, if you can't send us a paper checker,
- 2:45Speaker 2: if you can't give us a debit card a credit card,
- 2:47Speaker 2: that's not easy enough for you. Why don't we just
- 2:53Speaker 2: have you give us a Venmo or a PayPal to
- 2:57Speaker 2: help the US government pay down debt? Pretty modernizing way
- 3:04Speaker 2: of saying what JFK said.
- 3:06Speaker 1: Ask, not what your country can do for you ask
- 3:11Speaker 1: what you can do for your country.
- 3:14Speaker 2: Even the New York Post emits this bill is projected
- 3:16Speaker 2: to add an additional three point four trillion dollars to
- 3:19Speaker 2: the debt over the next decade, which the CBO Congressional
- 3:23Speaker 2: Budget Office recently stated. But I have to say this,
- 3:27Speaker 2: if you're going to support the US government through Venmo,
- 3:30Speaker 2: then support your local friends, venmo's, local family members, venmos
- 3:37Speaker 2: people right next to you who have Venmo, support them.
- 3:40Speaker 2: Put a little cash in their venmo. If you're going
- 3:43Speaker 2: to put cash in the caffers of the United States government,
- 3:51Speaker 2: It's amazing because all this comes about eighty eight thirty
- 3:54Speaker 2: five in accessibility. Well, the US government trying to make
- 3:59Speaker 2: it more accessible to donate to the US government. But
- 4:06Speaker 2: I think now it's a perfect time to say, Hey,
- 4:08Speaker 2: if you were a friend, have a Venmo, or a
- 4:10Speaker 2: reminder or a PayPal reminder, support your friend. Put a
- 4:14Speaker 2: few bucks in your friend's venmo. Hell, put a few
- 4:18Speaker 2: bucks in my venmo. If you want alexak Scarrett Dash
- 4:22Speaker 2: twenty one, that's Alex Dash Garrett Dash twenty one. Because
- 4:28Speaker 2: as I told my friend Ryan, if you can support
- 4:31Speaker 2: Uncle Sam, you can support one leg up Alex. Let
- 4:36Speaker 2: me say that again. If you want to support Uncle
- 4:38Speaker 2: Sam and help pay off the national debt through Venmo,
- 4:44Speaker 2: then support your local brands, your local friends, venmos, even
- 4:49Speaker 2: one leg up Alex's Venmo, if you want Alex Dash
- 4:53Speaker 2: Garrett da'sh twenty one, Alex Dash Garrett DA's twenty one.
- 4:58Speaker 2: Because all of us can do some kind of debt
- 5:01Speaker 2: in our lives, and if we're going to help reduce
- 5:03Speaker 2: the governments, why not help our next door neighbor or
- 5:06Speaker 2: our friend or our family member. That's the story that
- 5:10Speaker 2: I take away from here on one Like up on News,
- 5:15Speaker 2: it isn't the fact that Congress has shut down for
- 5:21Speaker 2: however many weeks now because they don't want to touch the
- 5:23Speaker 2: up seam file votes. It's not just Pam Boundy called
- 5:27Speaker 2: out sick to a human trafficking conference. It's this right here.
- 5:31Speaker 2: How can we support each other? Because again, if it's
- 5:38Speaker 2: going to be told to you that PayPal and Venmo
- 5:41Speaker 2: are going to be used to the US government, then
- 5:43Speaker 2: all of us should come out of our shell and say, hey,
- 5:45Speaker 2: I've got a venmo, to support my venmo, ad to
- 5:50Speaker 2: my funding, you know, to buy work, reduce myb you
- 5:53Speaker 2: know that that type of thing, So I just found
- 5:56Speaker 2: that a little comical and also a little capitalistic. Look,
- 5:59Speaker 2: capitalism is society. We capitalize on stories like this, don't we.
- 6:05Speaker 2: Alex Dash Garrett Dash twenty one is my vemo. That's right.
- 6:09Speaker 2: You can support the work that I'm doing at One
- 6:12Speaker 2: Leg Up Alex that way, and I got a couple
- 6:15Speaker 2: of updates here before I release the Big Shabang, which
- 6:18Speaker 2: is perspectives from so many voices in the disabled community.
- 6:23Speaker 2: I'm going to release that later today for ADA thirty five,
- 6:29Speaker 2: but I also will say that grant that we were
- 6:37Speaker 2: fortunate enough to get at a DA Spark twenty twenty
- 6:39Speaker 2: five Heinenz and Supiscardi Center. Well, I'm running with it.
- 6:44Speaker 2: I have now applied to do a partnership with Toyota
- 6:50Speaker 2: because I found out today through podcasts tonight that Toyota, Toyota,
- 6:55Speaker 2: the car company lead in podcasts and spending so many
- 7:03Speaker 2: sales reps from Toyota are listening to this. I'm Alex Garrett,
- 7:07Speaker 2: and I would love to partner with Toyota. I would
- 7:10Speaker 2: do the One Leg Up Alex Crutch stand in front
- 7:12Speaker 2: of Toyota dealerships to make it happen. Why not, because
- 7:17Speaker 2: I believe Toyota could help serve the disabled community even
- 7:23Speaker 2: better through adaptive cars partnering with companies that make adaptive cars.
- 7:28Speaker 2: Put that as a feature as a line of toyotas
- 7:35Speaker 2: rite in Dinver Back to school, by the way, that's
- 7:37Speaker 2: the whole point. We want to make accessibility happen for
- 7:40Speaker 2: the new school year. September is right on the corner.
- 7:44Speaker 2: And if Toyota wants to pitch in and help support
- 7:46Speaker 2: the disabled community through this podcast, I would be so owned.
- 7:51Speaker 2: So let's speak that into the existence right here at
- 7:54Speaker 2: one leg up with Alex Garrett again. VENMO now a
- 7:59Speaker 2: preferred option to give back to the government and contribute
- 8:05Speaker 2: to the sixty seven million dollars already since nineteen ninety six,
- 8:09Speaker 2: just need I don't know thirty six something trillion dollars more.
- 8:15Speaker 2: But we'll get there, right, we gotta find other ways.
- 8:20Speaker 2: I don't know if the tariffs are really going to
- 8:22Speaker 2: be the answer in the long term. These spending bills
- 8:26Speaker 2: keep getting passed. The debt is ballooning, as a New
- 8:29Speaker 2: York Post alliterates too. But yes, your VENMO to the
- 8:34Speaker 2: US Treasury will make a difference. Well, if you're gonna
- 8:38Speaker 2: try and make a difference in the US debt, you
- 8:41Speaker 2: can make a difference in people's lives right around you
- 8:44Speaker 2: by asking them what their VENMO is and if you
- 8:48Speaker 2: want to support mine again, Alex Dash, Garrett Dash twenty
- 8:52Speaker 2: one is my venmo. This has been my quote unquote
- 8:55Speaker 2: Ted talk and we'll talk to you soon for the
- 8:58Speaker 2: eighty eight thirty five big sh obeying of all the
- 9:01Speaker 2: different voices I've had on to talk about accessibility and
- 9:04Speaker 2: improving accessibility thirty five years after the landmark signing of
- 9:10Speaker 2: the Americano Diessibilities Act. Hearing all these voices will help
- 9:15Speaker 2: us have one leg up in the movement for more accessibility.
