- 0:00Speaker 1: Country 92.5, good morning.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Good morning. I'm not warmed up yet. This is Kimberly
- 0:10Speaker 2: from Little Big Town. How's it going?
- 0:12Speaker 1: Let's do it together. La, la, la, la, la, la, la.
- 0:16Speaker 2: La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la. You've
- 0:21Speaker 2: been talking a lot longer than I have, obviously, this morning.
- 0:25Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, sister. You know what's very cool is I'm
- 0:28Speaker 1: going to run this tomorrow, so I'm going to, once
- 0:31Speaker 1: you pop on and say hi, I'm going to say,
- 0:34Speaker 1: happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday,
- 0:41Speaker 1: dear Kimberly. Happy birthday to you. It's your birthday.
- 0:46Speaker 2: It's my birthday. How did you know?
- 0:50Speaker 1: Well, the last time I talked to you, you said
- 0:52Speaker 1: a milestone would be when you turn 35, and I
- 0:55Speaker 1: know that's this birthday. So how fantastic.
- 0:59Speaker 2: You know what? These days I feel a little older
- 1:04Speaker 2: than 35, but I'm just grateful I haven't gone over
- 1:07Speaker 2: the hill yet. Thank you for the birthday song. That's
- 1:12Speaker 2: my first birthday song of the day.
- 1:14Speaker 1: Are you kidding me? No. I can't believe when they
- 1:17Speaker 1: asked you what you wanted. You just said, I want
- 1:18Speaker 1: to talk to that guy in Hartford. I don't remember
- 1:20Speaker 1: his name, but he was delightful.
- 1:22Speaker 2: That's exactly, that's kind of what I said. Hey, we
- 1:28Speaker 2: can't wait to get up there and see y'all. And
- 1:31Speaker 2: you know what I need for my birthday? Some of
- 1:33Speaker 2: that pizza.
- 1:34Speaker 1: Oh, that would be grand. Your famous pizza.
- 1:37Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:38Speaker 1: I would love to bring you some of that New
- 1:40Speaker 1: Haven pizza. That would be glorious.
- 1:43Speaker 2: Oh, I will take it. I like pizza. I like
- 1:46Speaker 2: pizza cheese. I like pepperoni. I like banana peppers. I
- 1:50Speaker 2: like sausage. I like anchovies. I like any kind of
- 1:53Speaker 2: pizza you hand me. I'm going to eat it.
- 1:55Speaker 1: Sister, you will be in the right area then, man. Oh, man.
- 1:59Speaker 2: That's what I hear.
- 1:59Speaker 1: And tonight you get to spend your birthday in Boston.
- 2:02Speaker 1: So that's kind of cool. That's a good town, too.
- 2:05Speaker 2: Yes, I know. And I have my little nine year
- 2:08Speaker 2: old with me. So Dolly and I are going to
- 2:10Speaker 2: do a little, you know, I mean, for a mama,
- 2:13Speaker 2: that's the perfect birthday. I would rather be with my
- 2:16Speaker 2: other daughter also and my hubby. But but for a
- 2:19Speaker 2: mama to be able to be with one baby on
- 2:21Speaker 2: her birthday when she turns 35, that's good for me. Perfect.
- 2:26Speaker 1: How was Dolly's summer? Because nine's a great age. My
- 2:30Speaker 1: daughter just turned 10, so I'm very familiar with what
- 2:34Speaker 1: a glorious... Although she's gotten a little bit of attitude
- 2:37Speaker 1: this year, so... Oh, shoot.
- 2:40Speaker 2: We don't want that to happen yet. I've already been through,
- 2:42Speaker 2: you know, so my sister raised four girls. So I'm
- 2:46Speaker 2: on my second. And my older daughter is 19. So
- 2:51Speaker 2: we got through the, you know, I need you, Mama.
- 2:56Speaker 2: And then I need you, Mama, but I don't want
- 2:58Speaker 2: to tell anybody I need you. And then I need you,
- 3:00Speaker 2: but I'm not even going to let you know that
- 3:02Speaker 2: I need you. But you know what? They come back.
- 3:06Speaker 2: They come back. You know, I'm hoping to shorten that
- 3:11Speaker 2: little time that we lose them for a few years
- 3:14Speaker 2: on my second time around.
- 3:16Speaker 1: Yes, sister. I'm telling them. Well, 10 years between the girls, right?
- 3:19Speaker 2: 10 years. Yes. We didn't plan it that way, but
- 3:23Speaker 2: that's how the good Lord worked it out. And it's perfection.
- 3:27Speaker 2: It's just perfect. Our little one is adopted. And the
- 3:31Speaker 2: older one prayed for her literally every night by her
- 3:35Speaker 2: bed for five years. She prayed for a baby. And,
- 3:38Speaker 2: you know, we tried all the things that mamas and
- 3:42Speaker 2: daddies do to try to have a baby, and it
- 3:45Speaker 2: didn't work out like we planned. But then we adopted her,
- 3:49Speaker 2: and now we understand why the other didn't work out,
- 3:52Speaker 2: because it's perfection.
- 3:54Speaker 1: Yeah, absolutely, man. You don't always see the plan until
- 3:57Speaker 1: it comes through, and you go, aha, that's the reason
- 4:00Speaker 1: that Jesus did that. I get you.
- 4:02Speaker 2: That's exactly right. Why didn't we believe all along?
- 4:06Speaker 1: Well, I got you beat because I have a son
- 4:08Speaker 1: that's 39, and then I have my 10-year-old daughter and
- 4:12Speaker 1: 11-year-old son, so.
- 4:15Speaker 2: Wow, you have all the, you got all the range.
- 4:19Speaker 1: Yeah, I like to put a couple decades between my kids.
- 4:22Speaker 2: You really, people say we started over, you really, really
- 4:26Speaker 2: started over.
- 4:28Speaker 1: So real quick, some business here. It's a dying art.
- 4:32Speaker 1: Just came out in August. Loaded with goodness. If I
- 4:37Speaker 1: can drop a couple of my favorites. I really like
- 4:41Speaker 1: Jet Plane a lot.
- 4:43Speaker 2: Aw, thanks. Isn't that a sweet song? Speaking of family,
- 4:46Speaker 2: so Jimmy wrote that. And that song is just about
- 4:50Speaker 2: wanting so desperately to get back to the people you love.
- 4:52Speaker 2: And our job is so incredibly amazing and wonderful and
- 4:57Speaker 2: a dream literally bigger than our wildest dreams. But the
- 5:01Speaker 2: hardest part is leaving our families. And so that song,
- 5:05Speaker 2: it says what my heart would have said if If
- 5:09Speaker 2: I had been the one to think of it. I
- 5:10Speaker 2: love that song.
- 5:11Speaker 1: It's a good one. And obviously, Closing Time is a
- 5:15Speaker 1: big goodie because you gave that little gal, Kelsey Ballerini,
- 5:19Speaker 1: some help, which is nice.
- 5:21Speaker 2: We thought she might need a little boost, so we
- 5:24Speaker 2: called her up and said, we're going to do something
- 5:26Speaker 2: for you. No, she and Karen and some other... amazing
- 5:32Speaker 2: girls wrote that song. And when we decided to put
- 5:36Speaker 2: it on our record, we were like, wait, we got
- 5:39Speaker 2: to get Kelsey in here to just sprinkle some of
- 5:41Speaker 2: her magic fairy dust. And she did. And what people
- 5:44Speaker 2: might not know about Kelsey is that she likes to
- 5:47Speaker 2: harmonize with herself. So all those parts on there that
- 5:52Speaker 2: harmonize with Kelsey, besides us, she did. She stacked herself
- 5:56Speaker 2: in Much better than one Kelsey Ballerini, like six Kelsey Ballerinis.
- 6:00Speaker 1: Wow. Six Kelsey Ballerinis. I'll tell you, though, I know
- 6:06Speaker 1: you've been in this business for a while. This is
- 6:09Speaker 1: a really, really good time for the women of country music.
- 6:13Speaker 1: Long overdue, but boy, is it a solid time.
- 6:17Speaker 2: Long overdue, but I am so proud to be a
- 6:21Speaker 2: woman in this business right now, and I'm so happy
- 6:24Speaker 2: that women's voices are being heard like they are and celebrated.
- 6:28Speaker 2: It's about time, and we are here for it.
- 6:33Speaker 1: So you're on the For the Art of It tour,
- 6:36Speaker 1: which I believe started last month, September?
- 6:40Speaker 2: Yeah, started in September, yep.
- 6:42Speaker 1: And this Sunday, you're coming to Connecticut to the beautiful
- 6:47Speaker 1: Oakdale Theater, which is going to be glorious.
- 6:49Speaker 2: I know. We love coming up in your neck of
- 6:52Speaker 2: the woods, and we don't get to that often. And
- 6:54Speaker 2: so we'll be there with bells on, and we'll be
- 6:58Speaker 2: eating your pizza and singing you some songs. And it's
- 7:02Speaker 2: a really special show. So it's in theaters all across
- 7:06Speaker 2: the country. And because the record is called A Dying Art,
- 7:13Speaker 2: and that song is not sad like dying. It's about
- 7:16Speaker 2: all the things in our lives that are going away.
- 7:19Speaker 2: Like long-time 60-year marriages or long-time friendships or handwritten notes
- 7:26Speaker 2: or handwritten recipe cards and things like that that seem
- 7:29Speaker 2: to be dying away. Hey, bands that stay together for
- 7:32Speaker 2: 27 years, that's also a dying art. So anyway, so
- 7:37Speaker 2: the tour is called For the Art of It. So
- 7:42Speaker 2: the production, the staging is so beautiful and so special.
- 7:46Speaker 2: And one of my favorite things we've ever, ever done.
- 7:49Speaker 2: And of course, we'll sing songs from the new record
- 7:51Speaker 2: and we'll sing all the hits that everybody knows. And
- 7:53Speaker 2: it's a great, fun thing. show to bring your family to.
- 7:58Speaker 2: It's just a good time. And so y'all come out
- 8:01Speaker 2: and promise we'll make it worth it and we'll have
- 8:04Speaker 2: a big old time together.
- 8:06Speaker 1: You were in Bridgeport last year and I brought both
- 8:08Speaker 1: my kids and we all had a glorious time. So
- 8:10Speaker 1: I have no doubt that this will be another memorable
- 8:13Speaker 1: night with Little Big Town. Excellent. Excellent.
- 8:16Speaker 2: I love it. We'll come back.
- 8:18Speaker 1: Oh, absolutely. Yeah. You can count on it, sister.
- 8:22Speaker 2: Oh, good. I'm so glad.
- 8:24Speaker 1: I appreciate your time, and honestly, happy birthday.
- 8:28Speaker 2: Thank you. Thank you for being the first one to
- 8:31Speaker 2: celebrate my birthday with me.
- 8:33Speaker 1: Yeah, hooray.
- 8:35Speaker 2: Thank you so much.
- 8:36Speaker 1: Hooray. I'm going to take that diamond tennis bracelet back
- 8:39Speaker 1: now because you don't need it. You got everything you need.
- 8:41Speaker 2: You can take it back. Yes, I got my baby
- 8:44Speaker 2: with me. I got to talk to you today. You
- 8:46Speaker 2: can take the tennis bracelet back and get a refund.
- 8:48Speaker 1: Listen, always a pleasure to talk to you.
- 8:51Speaker 2: You too.
- 8:52Speaker 1: And we will see you very, very soon. So God
- 8:54Speaker 1: bless you and your family and thank you for all
- 8:56Speaker 1: you do for us.
- 8:57Speaker 2: Thank you so much. See y'all in a couple of days. Bye, Ms.
- 9:00Speaker 1: Schlappman.
- 9:01Speaker 2: Thank you so much.
