- Week 8 Waiver Wire: Week eight is here, and if you're still waiting for players to break out before you pick them up, you're already too late. We're at the point in the season where one pickup could impact your chances of making the playoffs or missing the playoffs. Today we're going to talk about guys that I think can make an immediate impact on your squad and some guys that I think you should stash before the rest of your league catches on. Let's get into it. Well, welcome back to Fat Daddy Sports. Hey, I am Craig. If you're new here, I drop these videos every single week. Waiver wire videos, start sits, ranking videos, and other fantasy football nonsense. If you see something that you like, be sure to hit that like button, hit that subscribe, and let's jump into it today. All right, the first guy that we are talking about was on waiver wire on the waiver wire video last week, and that's Omar Cooper Jr. You can see here rostered in 75% of league. So he's probably not out there if you're in a competitive league, but Be sure to check that waiver wire and see if he is available. If he is, he needs to be owned. he's he came back from injury two weeks ago, saw seven targets, six catches, 103 yards, and a touchdown. He backed that up in week seven against Miami. Five catches on five targets, 115 yards and a touchdown. This guy is a difference maker, and this is exactly what you want in a rookie wide receiver. To help you win a fantasy championship, rookie wide receivers break out all the time. And I think we may be seeing that here with Omar Cooper. Another rookie wide receiver that we may have a breakout going on here is Casey Concepcion. Obviously was drafted high, first round draft pick in the NFL draft, much like Omar Cooper Jr. but he's kind of started slow to this season. You can see 7.8, 8.2, 2.9, 11.4. He's been overshadowed by Denzel Boston there in Cleveland. But this past week, week seven against Tennessee, saw 10 targets, 8 catches, 129 yards, 23.2 PPR points. I think that better days are ahead for KC Conception. They want to use him. They want to use him and Boston, but he's only owned in 63% of leagues. That definitely needs to change. You need to own him. I know both of these guys are a little bit above that 50% threshold that we try to stick to, but Both of these guys, very, very important players going forward. You need to own both of them. And one more player I want to talk about real quick. I've talked about him multiple times, but Brenton Strange was on a buy in week seven. I think a lot of managers dropped him just out of needs for the roster. They needed a spot a spot. and so Brenton Strange, 60% owned right now. He is coming off of eight targets, eight targets, seven targets in his last three games. He is definitely a focal part of this. Jacksonville offense. He needs to be owned, needs to be rostered in every single league. And then we will jump into some actual waiver wire pickups that are below that 50% threshold that we usually stick to. First guy is Jonah Coleman in Denver. He came back from injuries, been on IR since that week two kind of breakout, where he had 10 carries, 39 yards, in a touchdown for 14.8 PPR points. Obviously, he was the hot waiver wire pickup then, gets placed on IR like. The next day or two days later, it was a very weird scenario there in Denver. but he is on IR for four games. He comes back in this game against Arizona, sees nine nine carries, fifty-four yards, adds two catches for fifteen yards, eight point nine fantasy points, not the greatest. but you look at the snapshare, he was immediately thrown in there, kind of as their lead back. J.K. Dobbins was not. Super involved. He did vulture a one yard touchdown on a drive that Jonah Coleman got them down the field. RJ Harvey was very involved in the pass game. And I don't think that that's going to go away. I think the Broncos like what they have in Coleman and Harvey. Both are explosive players, both kind of bring different elements to this offense. I think if anybody's the odd man out, it's going to be J.K. Dobbins. And I think Jonah Coleman is the RB that you want to own there in Denver. The next guy we're talking about is Calen Black in San Francisco. We've talked about him a little bit, certainly after week one when he broke onto the scene, 14 carries, 65 yards. this game in week seven against the Falcons, Christian McCaffrey got banged up with a thigh issue. We obviously know Christian McCaffrey's injury history. So we want to keep an eye on that, but Kalen Black needs to be owned in more than 31% of leagues, especially if you're the Christian McCaffrey owner. If you're not the McCaffrey owner, go ahead and pick up a possible RB one. I mean, if McCaffrey misses any time, Kalen Black will slot right in there as a low end RB one with a lot of upside in this San Francisco offense. They need playmakers, and you know that Kyle Shanahan likes to run it in from From close. The next guy we're talking about is coming off a bye, and that is Chig Oconquo in Washington. We saw Terry McLaurin go down in week six with that injury. He will be out for the season. They need another pass catcher. And in that game that Terry McLaurin went down, Chig Oconquo added seven catches on seven targets for 69 yards, 13.9 PPR points. I think he is going to be a very big piece of this passing offense in Washington. I don't know how much that's going to translate, how good that'll be, but certainly if you need a tight end, Chiga Conko could fit that bill for you. they have Stephon Diggs, who has dealt with his own injuries. Antonio Williams, the rookie wide receiver, who hasn't really grabbed a hold of that job quite yet. and then they have Traylon Burks, who has been up and down in his career. Chiga Conko could be a very, very sneaky ad. And speaking of deep leagues, Seth McGowan, running back for the Indianapolis Colts, could be a very good ad for you if you're in a 12 team league. He's probably out there. Only rostered in 25% of leagues right now, rookie running back for the Indianapolis Colts. There is a lot of smoke around the Jonathan Taylor trade right now. He is more than likely going to be dealt at the trade deadline to somebody else, which is going to open the door for Seth McGowan to be the running back one there in Indianapolis. I know it's not a great situation. I know it's not a great offense, but anytime you can snag an RB1 in the middle of the season, it could be very, very big for your team going forward. And really outside of Jonathan Taylor, if he were gone, McGowan doesn't have a whole lot of competition there. I think Seth McGowan could have a very, very nice road forward if Jonathan Taylor does go ahead and get traded. this is certainly a stash and hold piece. This isn't somebody that you're picking up and throwing into your lineup right away. But I think Seth McGowan could be very good down the stretch if Jonathan Taylor is dealt. And speaking of being traded, Brian Thomas Jr. is more than likely going to be traded here in the next couple of weeks. he has completely been phased out of the Jacksonville game plan. If you watch their games at all, he is basically a non factor. Travis Hunter is coming in from the defensive side and getting more targets, more routes, whatever. then Brian Thomas Jr. This is a player that is an extremely athletic player. I mean, his rookie season, he broke onto the scene and looked like a bona fide stud. And then in year two, it was a disappointment. Year three has been even worse than a disappointment. But I do think he will be getting traded to a very good playoff contending team, whether that's the Chiefs, the 49ers, I I don't know, you name it. I like that situation better than what he is in right now. He's only owned in 47% of league, so he's probably out there in your league. If you if you have an empty bench spot, go ahead and pick up Brian Thomas Jr. and stash him for the playoff run. And that's all I've got for you guys today. These are my waiver wire pickups for week eight. It's not a real deep list, not a real great list, but this is the part of the year where you want to start stashing guys. You're getting some of your players through the bye weeks. You can start picking up some of your handcuffed running backs and stashing those guys that might break out down the stretch. be sure to get those waiver claims in this week. And I will catch you guys on the next video. See ya.
