- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Danish with Fexingo. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. Episode 113 already. Time flies. Lucas: It does. Today we're going back to the dentist. Remember our last visit, Luna? Luna: Oh, I remember. I had a sore tooth. Oof. But I learned some useful phrases. Lucas: Exactly. Luna: Yeah, every little bit helps. Now, let's get back to those dentist phrases. Lucas, what's the first one? Lucas: Let's start with 'Jeg har ondt i tanden.' That means 'I have a toothache.' Listen slowly: Jeg har ondt i tanden. Luna: Jeg har ondt i tanden. Lucas: Perfect. 'Jeg' means I, 'har' means have, 'ondt' means pain, 'i' means in, 'tanden' means the tooth. So literally 'I have pain in the tooth.' Luna: Jeg har ondt i tanden. I can say that now. Ooh, I hope I don't need it soon. Lucas: But if you do, you'll be ready. Next: 'Jeg skal til tandlægen.' That's 'I need to go to the dentist.' Say it with me: Jeg skal til tandlægen. Luna: Jeg skal til tandlægen. Skal til means 'going to'? Like 'I am going to'? Lucas: Exactly. 'Skal til' is a common way to say you need to go somewhere. So 'Jeg skal til tandlægen' — I need to go to the dentist. Luna: Got it. Jeg skal til tandlægen. Lucas: Now, when you're at the dentist, they might say 'Kan du åbne munden?' — 'Can you open your mouth?' Let's hear it: Kan du åbne munden? Luna: Kan du åbne munden? Åbne is open, and munden is mouth, right? Lucas: Right. And 'Kan du' is 'can you.' So it's a simple question. You can answer by just opening your mouth or saying 'ja'. Luna: Okay, so if it hurts, I can say 'Det gør ondt.' That's 'It hurts.' Lucas: Exactly. 'Det gør ondt' — it hurts. Listen: Det gør ondt. Luna: Det gør ondt. Simple and useful. Lucas: And after the dentist, you might ask 'Hvornår skal jeg komme igen?' — 'When should I come back?' Hvornår skal jeg komme igen? Luna: Hvornår skal jeg komme igen? 'Igen' means again? So 'come again'? Lucas: Yes. 'Komme igen' is 'come back' or 'return'. So you're asking when to return. Luna: And hopefully the reply is 'Det var ikke så slemt' — 'It wasn't so bad.' Lucas: Right. 'Det var ikke så slemt.' Let's break it: 'Det var' is 'it was', 'ikke' is 'not', 'så' is 'so', 'slemt' is 'bad'. So 'It wasn't so bad.' Luna: Det var ikke så slemt. I hope I can say that after my next check-up. Lucas: Me too. Let's review all the phrases once more. First: Jeg har ondt i tanden. Luna: Jeg har ondt i tanden. Lucas: Jeg skal til tandlægen. Luna: Jeg skal til tandlægen. Lucas: Kan du åbne munden? Luna: Kan du åbne munden? Lucas: Det gør ondt. Luna: Det gør ondt. Lucas: Hvornår skal jeg komme igen? Luna: Hvornår skal jeg komme igen? Lucas: And finally, Det var ikke så slemt. Luna: Det var ikke så slemt. Lucas: Great job, Luna. And listeners, practice these phrases. Next time you're at the dentist, you'll be ready.
