- 0:00Speaker 1: Fingers crossed. Did you do it? Can you hear us?
- 0:05Speaker 1: And we cannot hear you? Okay, I'm you are so good.
- 0:15Speaker 1: No way, you nailed it on time one. I don't
- 0:17Speaker 1: believe it. Oh my god, you guys. She made it.
- 0:21Speaker 1: She figured it out. It took four seasons, but she
- 0:23Speaker 1: figured it out. I'm recording. You are incredible. I preconnected
- 0:27Speaker 1: the earbuds, earbuds, the buds, she connected them to the bluetooth. Wow,
- 0:33Speaker 1: got the link open. I'm so proud of Donald. Donald's
- 0:36Speaker 1: gonna have a tear in design. Yo. Donald figured out
- 0:41Speaker 1: her audio without any help, just my audio. I figured
- 0:46Speaker 1: out my video. I figured out my lunch. I figured
- 0:49Speaker 1: out all of the things. You look great. You look great.
- 0:54Speaker 1: Some thirsty pictures on Instagram, and I've been I've been
- 0:57Speaker 1: hearting them big thirst to thirsties when you like, you know,
- 1:01Speaker 1: you look fine and you like I thought you was
- 1:03Speaker 1: like she was posting sit like the bugs bunny challenge.
- 1:06Speaker 1: You put out all these thirsty picks, Donald, But Sarah
- 1:08Speaker 1: occasionally drops fine. I'm like, okay, Zarah, Okay, I did
- 1:12Speaker 1: not know that's what I was doing. But I will
- 1:14Speaker 1: try to continue to do Please do it because your fans,
- 1:17Speaker 1: I'm sure love it and I appreciate it as your
- 1:19Speaker 1: fake former lover. Well, I feel like I kind of
- 1:23Speaker 1: like try really like I'll be like, Okay, I'm gonna
- 1:25Speaker 1: I'm gonna put something on it, and then I forget,
- 1:27Speaker 1: and then a month goes by and then like I'm
- 1:28Speaker 1: gonna do it. Um. But mostly I'm just so proud
- 1:33Speaker 1: in this moment because I feel like Zach texting me
- 1:36Speaker 1: earlier me is like practice getting online. Three words exactly
- 1:42Speaker 1: three words, practice getting online. And I was like thinking,
- 1:44Speaker 1: I was like, I charged the earbuds. I've I don't
- 1:47Speaker 1: know another grown adult that I would text practice getting online. Well,
- 1:56Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, it's it is. It's it's a mystery.
- 2:00Speaker 1: But I do feel like there's something that happens when
- 2:03Speaker 1: you kind of you know, you go back to that,
- 2:06Speaker 1: you revert to that dynamic, because like I was just
- 2:08Speaker 1: pouring water and I don't I mean, i feel like
- 2:13Speaker 1: I've learned where my arms are in space. Anyways, the
- 2:14Speaker 1: water dumped obviously all over it. I was like, it's
- 2:16Speaker 1: because I'm about to get on the podcast. You spilt water?
- 2:21Speaker 1: You spilled water? Did you spill it all over your
- 2:23Speaker 1: recording device? Ever, the recording devices are all fine, just
- 2:26Speaker 1: my pants and my socks, so I'm not in socks anymore.
- 2:31Speaker 1: Socks had to go. You are the clumsies. You cannot
- 2:36Speaker 1: write this stuff. This stuff, there's never a day. I've
- 2:39Speaker 1: never been a day since I've known her, and I've
- 2:41Speaker 1: known her for twenty years, which where it's like, what's up?
- 2:43Speaker 1: Nothing happened? No, I won't. I have no stories for today.
- 2:48Speaker 1: Nothing would come back from freaking break with adventures like
- 2:53Speaker 1: a car almost ran my whole family over. Yeah, yeah,
- 2:57Speaker 1: my dogs almost date my dad. We were in a
- 2:59Speaker 1: tent around um, Sarah, I want to tell you something.
- 3:05Speaker 1: We did a big interview for the Washington Post and
- 3:07Speaker 1: they didn't put in my favorite part where she asked
- 3:10Speaker 1: us a very good question. She said to Donald and I,
- 3:14Speaker 1: what is one thing you really see now from watching
- 3:17Speaker 1: the show back that you didn't fully appreciate back in
- 3:19Speaker 1: the day. Right away, both of our answers at the
- 3:22Speaker 1: same time, same answer, would hesitation. We both said, how
- 3:28Speaker 1: fucking genius, Sarah chalk is. I mean people on the listening,
- 3:32Speaker 1: I'm not going to know what blushing you're blushing. They're
- 3:37Speaker 1: not able to see me blushing right now because it's audio,
- 3:43Speaker 1: but we meant it, Sarah, I really mean that. I
- 3:45Speaker 1: know Donald as two. You know, when we're doing the show,
- 3:47Speaker 1: we're so caught up in our own trying to be funny.
- 3:49Speaker 1: Obviously me, you were funny. We spend so much time together.
- 3:52Speaker 1: But there's things that I really noticed in hindsight. One
- 3:55Speaker 1: that we always teased Rob. But even though Rob had
- 3:57Speaker 1: one line, every time he says it, it's funny, um.
- 4:00Speaker 1: And the other is you. You're just you're such a
- 4:03Speaker 1: gifted actress and comedian. That is really nice and thank you,
- 4:09Speaker 1: And I feel like everything I learned I learned on
- 4:12Speaker 1: this show. So that's the truth. Congratulations on season two
- 4:17Speaker 1: of Firefly Lane. Also, that's your second standing up. There
- 4:24Speaker 1: are a lot of people out there. My wife included, Well,
- 4:28Speaker 1: I'm gonna tea you something right now. My wife included
- 4:30Speaker 1: with I guess millions of people out there. Yeah, they
- 4:34Speaker 1: are so excited for season two. Yep. Oh, I'm so happy.
- 4:38Speaker 1: I'm so excited. I love doing it. I can't I'm
- 4:40Speaker 1: so happy we get to do it again. I really Spiller,
- 4:44Speaker 1: who was one of our favorite directors on this show.
- 4:46Speaker 1: You know, we talked about him several times he was
- 4:48Speaker 1: one of the best directors we had. I heard a
- 4:51Speaker 1: rumor that he's going to be one of your main
- 4:52Speaker 1: directors on the show this year. I'm so pumped. I'm
- 4:56Speaker 1: so pumped. I mean when I heard that, obviously there
- 4:58Speaker 1: was like our core group on Scrubs, and Spiller was
- 5:01Speaker 1: one of them. And he's such a good director. He's
- 5:04Speaker 1: also just so chilled, like he's he just sets that
- 5:08Speaker 1: tone on set of like it's all going to work out. Yeah.
- 5:11Speaker 1: And he also has obviously such a knack for comedy.
- 5:14Speaker 1: Um that, I have one question for you. Are you
- 5:18Speaker 1: doing the new Psyched movie? I'm not. I'm not. I'm
- 5:24Speaker 1: so happy they're doing another one. I don't like. I
- 5:27Speaker 1: have problems with it. Would you trade? Sometimes I think
- 5:33Speaker 1: it's a betrayal. I do agree that it's a betrayal. No,
- 5:37Speaker 1: I feel I feel it in my heart place writing
- 5:40Speaker 1: in her place. I feel like I feel like, um yeah,
- 5:45Speaker 1: that's why. That's why I couldn't do another one. Maybe
- 5:47Speaker 1: we should get another famous blonde comedian to do our movie.
- 5:51Speaker 1: Don't you even think about Kaylee u? I hear she's
- 5:59Speaker 1: doing even about Okay, Okay, you fine, Okay, bring on
- 6:05Speaker 1: you can have just bring Becky one, and then I'll
- 6:07Speaker 1: feel like there's something we don't want. No, no, no, no, no,
- 6:09Speaker 1: some you know, some continuity we don't. We don't want
- 6:12Speaker 1: anyone but you. We love you. We think you're Did
- 6:15Speaker 1: I ever tell you when I first met Becky one?
- 6:17Speaker 1: How she approached me? How did she say? He was like,
- 6:20Speaker 1: you know, do you know who I am? And I
- 6:23Speaker 1: was like, yeah, I know who you are. Calm down, Yeah,
- 6:29Speaker 1: that's right, number one, motherfucker number one. We never had her.
- 6:34Speaker 1: We should have had her do a funny can I know?
- 6:36Speaker 1: I feel like we talked about it at some point.
- 6:41Speaker 1: Becky won Slash three when I was two, Slash four.
- 6:44Speaker 1: I've been a really funny fantasy in there, right, I
- 6:47Speaker 1: mean yeah, instead, you guys call me second Becky for
- 6:50Speaker 1: eight years. How's it going up there in Canada? I
- 6:53Speaker 1: know you like to be up there and um and um,
- 6:56Speaker 1: it's a beautiful time of year, right. What's happening up there?
- 6:59Speaker 1: Are you? It's pouring rain, just just a downpour today,
- 7:02Speaker 1: just a downpour. Really. Um? Yeah, but that's I mean,
- 7:06Speaker 1: June is kind of like that sometimes, I am. I'm mum, yeah,
- 7:11Speaker 1: it's going great. I mean, we're we're doing good up here.
- 7:13Speaker 1: It's we're a little behind the States in terms of
- 7:16Speaker 1: the roll out of the vaccines. But I just got
- 7:18Speaker 1: my appointment for my second dose and I can't wait.
- 7:21Speaker 1: I'm like the one who calls every day, is it time?
- 7:22Speaker 1: Is it time? Is it my turn? Can I have
- 7:24Speaker 1: a turn yet? Is it my turn? I was about
- 7:26Speaker 1: to say, when are you guys going to open back up? Yeah?
- 7:28Speaker 1: When can you open those borders so we can come
- 7:30Speaker 1: visit you without a two week quarantine? I got off
- 7:32Speaker 1: with a roll and they were like, listen, it's one
- 7:34Speaker 1: day of work, but we need you to two weeks.
- 7:37Speaker 1: Two weeks, by the way, and IT'SO, no, fucking two weeks.
- 7:40Speaker 1: Do you know what it is? They put you in
- 7:41Speaker 1: a hotel and they watch you and you're not allowed
- 7:45Speaker 1: to leave the hotel room. Yeah, so now is that
- 7:49Speaker 1: my friend? My friend just did it. My friend just
- 7:51Speaker 1: did it. She had a balcony she was allowed to
- 7:53Speaker 1: sit on. But other than that, no outside one. It
- 7:57Speaker 1: was like one scene, fourteen days quarantine. I was like, no,
- 8:03Speaker 1: I'm going to pass on this. We talked. I was
- 8:05Speaker 1: like I was totally Randy Jackson that's gonna be a
- 8:07Speaker 1: note for me, don't. Yeah, we're talking about bringing my
- 8:10Speaker 1: movie up there. And it was a big note from
- 8:11Speaker 1: me when I heard about the for real two Weeks
- 8:13Speaker 1: in a room by myself. No thanks, Wait which one
- 8:16Speaker 1: you're directing? In my new film I'm directing, We're I'm
- 8:20Speaker 1: trying to make it in Jersey. I want to make
- 8:21Speaker 1: New Jersey where it takes place. But you know, when
- 8:24Speaker 1: you're budgeting a movie, you can't help. Every producer's first
- 8:26Speaker 1: line is, well, let's explore Canada. And I mean that's
- 8:30Speaker 1: like you can just that's like the first thing any
- 8:32Speaker 1: producer is going to say, well, we should look at
- 8:34Speaker 1: Canada and uh. And then I said, well, I looked
- 8:37Speaker 1: at the Two Weeks by Myself in an apartment and
- 8:40Speaker 1: I decided, we're not looking at Canada anymore. Every job,
- 8:46Speaker 1: my entire life, we should look at Canada. So I
- 8:50Speaker 1: don't know, Sara, since you're the film dream True, Sarah, Yeah,
- 8:53Speaker 1: your dreams coming true. Not American actors don't want to
- 8:56Speaker 1: go there. So you have all the roles for yourself
- 8:58Speaker 1: and uh, but you you're on a show, don't have
- 9:00Speaker 1: you can't take any more roles. You already got one.
- 9:02Speaker 1: Do your movie in Canada. I feel like the quarantine
- 9:04Speaker 1: is going to be you can cut the all the
- 9:06Speaker 1: time information for when the quarantine and for Canada's going away. Sarah, Oh,
- 9:11Speaker 1: let's not. I mean, you know, I make all the decisions.
- 9:14Speaker 1: I just feel like if you, if you made the
- 9:16Speaker 1: right calls, you might be able to find out. Yeah,
- 9:18Speaker 1: I could. I could find it. I could probably you know,
- 9:20Speaker 1: pull some strings as well. At what time? When do
- 9:22Speaker 1: you need it done by? I got it. Well, if
- 9:24Speaker 1: you could do it by the fifteenth, like the rest,
- 9:26Speaker 1: Donald will take that part, then I could probably take
- 9:29Speaker 1: that fifteenth of June. Yeah. Man, we're about to open up.
- 9:34Speaker 1: America is about to open up a California. I know
- 9:38Speaker 1: California is fully opened on the fifteen. It's America. Oh okay,
- 9:44Speaker 1: So I feel like, wait, zb, aren't you directing your
- 9:46Speaker 1: movie in September? Um, we are scheduled to start principal
- 9:50Speaker 1: photography mid October. Oh you're gonna be fine. I read that. Um,
- 9:55Speaker 1: they're gonna potentially have like lift the quarantine for travelers
- 9:58Speaker 1: who are double vaxed in July. Okay, well, I can't
- 10:02Speaker 1: only depend on Sarah Chalk heard. I mean it's pretty
- 10:07Speaker 1: it's pretty reliable. Can you imagine I stay to Morgan Freeman.
- 10:10Speaker 1: It looks at Morgan so happy to doing the movie.
- 10:12Speaker 1: I'm gonna need you to sit alone in a room
- 10:15Speaker 1: for two weeks because Sarah was not corrected. Damn mind,
- 10:21Speaker 1: that's what this is Morgen. Okay, So Jersey instead does
- 10:26Speaker 1: he say this is Morgan? When he says this is Morgan,
- 10:29Speaker 1: this is Morgan free this is Morgan Freeman. You know
- 10:31Speaker 1: my outgoing message? Do I tell you guys that's sorry
- 10:33Speaker 1: about how he us my outgoing message? Yeah? Did I
- 10:36Speaker 1: tout on the podcast? No, you didn't, But I had
- 10:40Speaker 1: it while I was direct him and going in style
- 10:41Speaker 1: and he and I knew he was wrapped because I'm
- 10:43Speaker 1: the director. I know when someone's last shot it is.
- 10:45Speaker 1: But it was early for him. He was surprised, and
- 10:47Speaker 1: I go, this is your last shot and he goes,
- 10:49Speaker 1: I don't believe you. And I go, I'm the director.
- 10:52Speaker 1: I know when someone's last shot is. I I'm the
- 10:54Speaker 1: one who comes up with the shots. And you're not
- 10:56Speaker 1: in any of the other ones. You're done and he goes,
- 10:58Speaker 1: I don't believe you. I go make me bet, so
- 11:00Speaker 1: we bet him and if I won, he had to
- 11:03Speaker 1: record an outgoing voicemail message on my phone, which I
- 11:07Speaker 1: of course won because I know what I'm doing, and
- 11:09Speaker 1: so for the longest time I had Hello, this is
- 11:11Speaker 1: Morgan Freeman. Zach can't come to the phone right now,
- 11:15Speaker 1: leave a message. If I could have anybody do that
- 11:20Speaker 1: for me, it would be Tracy Morgan as Brian Fellows.
- 11:27Speaker 1: I'm Brad Fellow, Dona fhaz On geg of the phone
- 11:30Speaker 1: right now. That would be amazing. Speaking of Zach got
- 11:33Speaker 1: bet by a raw Wiler. But you clearly don't listen
- 11:37Speaker 1: to the show. So how did you hear that I
- 11:39Speaker 1: was listening to the show. I don't believe you. And
- 11:42Speaker 1: then I know that you you showed you had to
- 11:45Speaker 1: apologize Joel because she's gonna have to see your boxers. Oh,
- 11:48Speaker 1: you do listen to the show. I thought you didn't listen.
- 11:51Speaker 1: I can't believe that that happened. I feel like someone.
- 11:54Speaker 1: I feel like one of Sarah's relatives told him, did
- 11:57Speaker 1: you get all permission to reveal his boxers? Like googling
- 12:04Speaker 1: things that were discussed on the podcast. I feel like you.
- 12:07Speaker 1: I was like, you're not gonna believe what happened. Okay,
- 12:10Speaker 1: one set right, and I'm the Rod Wilder is perfectly fine.
- 12:13Speaker 1: All of a sudden it latches onto my leg. But
- 12:17Speaker 1: it was a stunt gonna ry and I didn't want
- 12:19Speaker 1: the children to worry, so I had to waite. I
- 12:20Speaker 1: just had to waiting. I'm sobbing adical and because she
- 12:25Speaker 1: wouldn't know what to do. Not only did she come
- 12:27Speaker 1: from me in a hard, difficult time, but she also
- 12:29Speaker 1: knew the medical answer of all the things to put
- 12:31Speaker 1: in the wound. That was Sarah Chalk doing me doing
- 12:36Speaker 1: Sarah Chalk. All right, listen, before we count in, I
- 12:43Speaker 1: want to tell everyone that our guest today is our
- 12:46Speaker 1: friend Amanda Clutes, who we all know and love, and
- 12:51Speaker 1: she has written a book about Nick and losing Nick
- 12:55Speaker 1: called Live Your Life that is just extraordinary. I am
- 12:58Speaker 1: not just saying this because she is our friend. I
- 13:01Speaker 1: even said this to her face. I said, I was
- 13:03Speaker 1: expecting it to be interesting to me because I know
- 13:05Speaker 1: the story and I love you, but I could not
- 13:08Speaker 1: put this book down. It is so well done. She
- 13:10Speaker 1: wrote it with her sister, who's a professional writer, so
- 13:12Speaker 1: I'm sure that she helped her. But it's extraordinary. So
- 13:15Speaker 1: we're gonna talk about all that. Um, this is after.
- 13:18Speaker 1: That's after we uh co host with Sarah though, right.
- 13:23Speaker 1: I can't wait to read Amanda's book. I pre ordered
- 13:25Speaker 1: it the day it was available for pre order. I
- 13:27Speaker 1: just got my email when it's coming. And look, interviewer, guys,
- 13:31Speaker 1: I'm holding like I'm like Jimmy Fallon. I'm holding up
- 13:34Speaker 1: the book to the camera, the book. Um, but I
- 13:36Speaker 1: will talk all about that later. Um. The other thing
- 13:38Speaker 1: I want to tell you is, this is the season
- 13:39Speaker 1: four finale, Sarah. That's why we wanted to have you
- 13:41Speaker 1: on because, um, you're so hilarious and also, um, we're
- 13:45Speaker 1: just we're booking through this thing guy. Season four. I
- 13:48Speaker 1: mean this is like halfway through the show. I know
- 13:50Speaker 1: we're trying to stall now, Sarah, because we don't want
- 13:52Speaker 1: it to be over right. I mean I got great
- 13:56Speaker 1: ideas on how we can stall. Guys, what are your
- 14:00Speaker 1: anyr thoughts? He wants to a different world, dude, I
- 14:03Speaker 1: think that would be a great We just do like
- 14:05Speaker 1: an intermission and do we can do the pilot, just
- 14:09Speaker 1: the pilot. I've never I don't want to upset you,
- 14:12Speaker 1: so just calm down before you hold on one second, motherfucker.
- 14:15Speaker 1: Don't get me mad right now, God damn it, no,
- 14:17Speaker 1: it needs you to come down. By the way, why
- 14:19Speaker 1: is your kid pissing in front of my house? Okay,
- 14:21Speaker 1: I get this picture. I don't know if it was
- 14:23Speaker 1: from the security camera or what it was. Donald's guarding
- 14:26Speaker 1: like a Donald guarding like a bouncer. His son pissing
- 14:30Speaker 1: on the front of my house. I'm like, how many
- 14:33Speaker 1: would happen. Here's what happened. So, speaking of Zack's mom,
- 14:37Speaker 1: we I was. We were at Zach's house yesterday with
- 14:39Speaker 1: his family. His niece just graduated from high school. It
- 14:42Speaker 1: was a wonderful affair. I got super drunk, which I
- 14:47Speaker 1: don't do anymore. It's and I get super drunk, you
- 14:50Speaker 1: seem to hold it together. And I had a few edibles. Ohways,
- 14:53Speaker 1: the edibles. Yeah, and I don't do that anymore either usually.
- 14:58Speaker 1: And I was just all gonna add to your son
- 15:00Speaker 1: peeing in my house? Yes, this is this is the story.
- 15:03Speaker 1: I was plastered. We leave right and we get outside
- 15:09Speaker 1: and Rocco goes, I gotta pee dad, because you guys
- 15:13Speaker 1: were all downstairs, and Casey says to me, they have
- 15:17Speaker 1: to come all the way back up here. Rocco just
- 15:20Speaker 1: pee in the bush. And I was like, no, dude,
- 15:22Speaker 1: don't pee in the bush, right, And she's like, no,
- 15:24Speaker 1: just let him pee in the bush. It'll be all right.
- 15:26Speaker 1: She's like, how do you think he goes into the
- 15:27Speaker 1: bathroom when he's at basketball camp, he peas in the bush.
- 15:30Speaker 1: And I was like, oh my god, he's being in
- 15:32Speaker 1: the bush at basketball camp. And he was like, yeah, Dad,
- 15:34Speaker 1: I pee in a bush at basketball camp. And I
- 15:37Speaker 1: was like, all right, this is what you do. Go
- 15:38Speaker 1: pee in the bush. And so he goes to pee
- 15:40Speaker 1: and I'm holding I'm guarding him, and his mother decides
- 15:44Speaker 1: to take a picture and send it to you, just
- 15:46Speaker 1: so you know that we might have to post that picture.
- 15:48Speaker 1: Can you ask Casey if I'm allowed to post it.
- 15:50Speaker 1: You are totally allowed to post It's pretty funny. Donald
- 15:53Speaker 1: looks like he's like, it looks like it's some famous
- 15:56Speaker 1: like musician. And Donald looks like the bodyguard. Who's who's
- 16:00Speaker 1: thing to star peeing in the bushes? You know what?
- 16:02Speaker 1: It looks like. It looks like, baby, what's the one
- 16:04Speaker 1: the Adam Sandler movie where the kid's pissing on the door,
- 16:07Speaker 1: Big Daddy, Big Daddy. It's an important life skill you
- 16:11Speaker 1: cannot get too. Precious. Kids pee in my pool, though,
- 16:15Speaker 1: Are you fucking kidding me? Yes? Or no? I think
- 16:18Speaker 1: they beat in the hot tub too. Oh no, really,
- 16:28Speaker 1: we were all in the hot tub. How do you
- 16:30Speaker 1: we were. Everybody was splashing their face everything, you know.
- 16:34Speaker 1: My my assistant, Mark had his kids, two kids, doorable
- 16:36Speaker 1: kids over swimming in the pool and Josh Raiden comes
- 16:39Speaker 1: over and the kids are like, mister Josh, mister Josh
- 16:41Speaker 1: comes swimming and he goes, I'm not coming in that pool.
- 16:44Speaker 1: You guys peed in there, and they go, not in
- 16:45Speaker 1: the hot tub, meaning like meaning like in the real pool. Yeah,
- 16:52Speaker 1: they frenched. I am, I am. I am almost positive
- 16:58Speaker 1: my kids peed. You. It's a saltwater pool. I don't
- 17:01Speaker 1: know if that cleans urine, Joel. Can you google that
- 17:05Speaker 1: chlorine the ocean? The ocean does chlorine. I can picture
- 17:10Speaker 1: attacking the urine. I give a saltwater pool if it
- 17:15Speaker 1: kills child urin Joel, Well, it's all salty, how about that?
- 17:19Speaker 1: All right? Oh my god? I feel like when we
- 17:21Speaker 1: were kids, they would they would have those things in
- 17:23Speaker 1: the pool, like the chemicals the pool that would like
- 17:25Speaker 1: light up when someone sit. No, one never really had that.
- 17:28Speaker 1: Everyone just threatened to have that. It didn't didn't happen
- 17:30Speaker 1: anybody that never happened. That was a threat, so we
- 17:34Speaker 1: wouldn't do it. All right, we get in the show. Wait,
- 17:37Speaker 1: hold on, Joel has the answer. Salt water may kills some,
- 17:41Speaker 1: but does not kill all mouth and that doesn't answer
- 17:44Speaker 1: the question anyway. How about this show five six seven?
- 17:51Speaker 1: About show we made? I can't believe I got I
- 18:15Speaker 1: got in before the countdown. Yeah, you know what it is.
- 18:19Speaker 1: We missed you when we missed you, and we decided
- 18:21Speaker 1: to let you in early. No, I haven't gotten to
- 18:23Speaker 1: countdown yet. That's next forward to. You can count us out,
- 18:29Speaker 1: you can you know what you can? You can count
- 18:30Speaker 1: us in, you can kind us out. Yes, we also
- 18:32Speaker 1: have a new song um for when we have a guest,
- 18:36Speaker 1: and I've written a new song that Donald won't lay
- 18:38Speaker 1: down for No, dude, I will lay it down. I
- 18:40Speaker 1: just need you to freaking you got to get somebody
- 18:42Speaker 1: dope to lay the track so I can say, Okay,
- 18:44Speaker 1: here you go. Salt is not a disinfectant or sanitizer.
- 18:47Speaker 1: Salt does not kill bacteria, inactivate viruses, or breakdown undesirable
- 18:52Speaker 1: organic material in the pool water. Well, your kids put
- 18:55Speaker 1: some fucking undesirable organic material. Oh my god, are you kidding?
- 19:00Speaker 1: My daughter threw up in the pool. She did. Yeah,
- 19:04Speaker 1: oh no, no, there was no pool and caddy shack
- 19:19Speaker 1: and he eats it, yeah he does, and everybody cringes.
- 19:22Speaker 1: All right, let's talk about the show Scrubs. Guys. We
- 19:25Speaker 1: opened with j D alone in an empty apartment with
- 19:27Speaker 1: this that's a real tier, and then the end of
- 19:30Speaker 1: the show. I am no Denzel Washington. I cannot squeeze
- 19:34Speaker 1: out a beautiful slow tear going down. Got that thick
- 19:38Speaker 1: You just pushed a little pull, Josh raiding on your iPod? No,
- 19:41Speaker 1: when it's m sh that's what Sarah used to listen to,
- 19:46Speaker 1: Josh raiden to cry. I'm sure that was a strategically
- 19:49Speaker 1: placed tier. I thought it was Sarah McLaughlin. I will
- 19:52Speaker 1: remember you. Oh, she was definitely definitely peppered in there.
- 19:58Speaker 1: You remember, he's so lonesome. He's got no Elliott in
- 20:08Speaker 1: his life. He's got turk leaving them for Judy and
- 20:12Speaker 1: making babies, and uh, you know, he's sitting there alone
- 20:16Speaker 1: on his boxes with a dead dog and a tear
- 20:18Speaker 1: on his face. But he could have let Turk in
- 20:21Speaker 1: with a giant pizza Nobody he did not. He Turk
- 20:25Speaker 1: hurt his feelings. Well, you know, I will say this.
- 20:29Speaker 1: I will say this. When this episode started off, all
- 20:34Speaker 1: I could think about was Holy cow. One, this is
- 20:37Speaker 1: the season finale, and then two, so many cool things
- 20:41Speaker 1: happen in the next season. You know what I mean?
- 20:45Speaker 1: So many cool things happened in the next season. And
- 20:47Speaker 1: season four was a really good season as well. Ye.
- 20:50Speaker 1: I wasn't very nostalgic about it, but I was like,
- 20:53Speaker 1: I wonder what this episode As soon as it started,
- 20:55Speaker 1: I was like, I wonder what this episode has in store, because,
- 20:57Speaker 1: as you know, I don't remember any of this. I'm like,
- 21:00Speaker 1: how would how do we close this season out? And
- 21:04Speaker 1: there are some iconic moments in this in this episode.
- 21:10Speaker 1: One you and I lying down on the basketball together.
- 21:15Speaker 1: That's a meme that goes That's everywhere. I see that
- 21:18Speaker 1: meme a lot. Yeah, everywhere. You're such a good friend
- 21:21Speaker 1: that you lie down next to me, so people just
- 21:23Speaker 1: think we're chilling. Yeah, even though I've knocked myself out
- 21:27Speaker 1: trying to do a hook shot. Dude, You're you're elaborate
- 21:31Speaker 1: plan to make sure that the last five people in
- 21:35Speaker 1: the hospital. I think you're a good basketball whatever it is,
- 21:39Speaker 1: I think you're a good basketball player goes awry and
- 21:42Speaker 1: you get knocked out from this hook shot. That was
- 21:45Speaker 1: funny though. That basketball in the head was funny. Oh,
- 21:47Speaker 1: it was funny. And when you're like, damn, we just
- 21:48Speaker 1: love the best player out here. Spread and then Donald
- 21:55Speaker 1: after he goes down and like, I got him. I
- 21:57Speaker 1: got this guy. I got this guy. He's Carl is
- 22:00Speaker 1: a part of the plan. She's gonna once I make
- 22:03Speaker 1: my my elaborate hook shark, she's gonna say that they
- 22:05Speaker 1: need me and then and then and then it goes bad.
- 22:09Speaker 1: And so that's one. Right now, why before you go on,
- 22:12Speaker 1: why does an ambulance pull up we're at the emergency
- 22:14Speaker 1: entrance of a hospital, because we're in the parking lot
- 22:16Speaker 1: of the hospital. This is we're playing basketball at the
- 22:19Speaker 1: emergency But the implication was that the ambulance pulled up
- 22:23Speaker 1: for me. No, no, no. The second I think it
- 22:25Speaker 1: was just to reinforce the point that like we're lying
- 22:27Speaker 1: in a parking lot right now. Oh, I thought it
- 22:30Speaker 1: was they called an ambulance for me, and I'm like,
- 22:32Speaker 1: we're fucking at the fucking entrance. No no, no, no, no,
- 22:35Speaker 1: because you're just lying there chilling because Donald's beside you.
- 22:38Speaker 1: Victor Nelly is a very good director, but he added
- 22:41Speaker 1: some style to this that I didn't necessarily like. There's
- 22:44Speaker 1: a lot of zooms all over the place. He clearly
- 22:46Speaker 1: said to Bill, Hey, what if I zoomed all over
- 22:49Speaker 1: the place every fucking two seconds. I don't mind a
- 22:54Speaker 1: zoom if it's well timed or if it fits the piece.
- 22:58Speaker 1: I didn't. I thought that putting zooms all over a
- 23:02Speaker 1: whole episode, as though it's a part of our regular
- 23:06Speaker 1: photographic lexicon felt odd to me. He also did that
- 23:10Speaker 1: thing later in the episode where the tiles of the
- 23:13Speaker 1: bathroom all come apart to you know, it's just not
- 23:15Speaker 1: part of Like I mean, I it's fine to explore.
- 23:18Speaker 1: It's season four, let's try some new things. To me,
- 23:20Speaker 1: they just stood out as not the way the show
- 23:23Speaker 1: is is told. So two things we've learned. Zach is
- 23:26Speaker 1: not a big fan of the zoom in. I don't
- 23:29Speaker 1: like random zooms for comedy. They don't usually What about
- 23:32Speaker 1: for dramas. What about for sci fi movies? There are
- 23:35Speaker 1: a lot of people out there that love the zoom in. Yeah,
- 23:37Speaker 1: I think you can make a zoom work, of course. Um,
- 23:40Speaker 1: but I just think in this they felt they pulled
- 23:44Speaker 1: me out a little bit because I'm like, that's not
- 23:46Speaker 1: that's not the way we shoot. The show, doesn't feel
- 23:48Speaker 1: like the show. Zach only likes a zoom for the button,
- 23:51Speaker 1: like a button to one of his comments as an
- 23:53Speaker 1: alternate for a siptake, Right, if it's like a like
- 23:56Speaker 1: a zoom zoom zoom, zom zoom, I like to zoom
- 24:01Speaker 1: m zoom zoom. Um there's zooms. I like, I'll have
- 24:05Speaker 1: to think of where I like zooms. Okay, so that's
- 24:08Speaker 1: the first one. The second one whom a big zoomer
- 24:11Speaker 1: myself as a filmmaker, I don't know if there's any
- 24:13Speaker 1: zooms in anyone movies, but go ahead. The second one,
- 24:16Speaker 1: who just fucking crazy? Who just crazy? At the end
- 24:19Speaker 1: when we finally realize no, no, no, no, no, no,
- 24:22Speaker 1: this isn't the game anymore. Yeah, it's fucking crazy, right
- 24:28Speaker 1: right right, and he shoot out of someone in the
- 24:30Speaker 1: elevator with a sneaker, someone who has nothing to do
- 24:32Speaker 1: with anything. Rocco was watching the show. He's like, did
- 24:35Speaker 1: he kill him? Timeout? He goes time out. Did he
- 24:40Speaker 1: just kill him? He literally killed that guy, And I'm like, nobody, no, no, no, no, no,
- 24:45Speaker 1: all right, Well he's shouted out to Phil Lewis because
- 24:47Speaker 1: he's always so hilarious, and this is the episode we got,
- 24:50Speaker 1: we get now. First of all, I've never heard if
- 24:51Speaker 1: this is a thing or who came up with this,
- 24:53Speaker 1: But putting bully on cubes in the shower heads the best.
- 24:57Speaker 1: That's a diabolical genius that whoever came up with that,
- 25:01Speaker 1: he got up on the counter with popcorn to watch
- 25:04Speaker 1: him come out, and then he didn't know it was us.
- 25:09Speaker 1: He directed a bunch, right, No, he never directed any
- 25:12Speaker 1: of these. Now he's become a big team since, but
- 25:14Speaker 1: he had never directed scrubs. Maybe he directed the some
- 25:18Speaker 1: of the thirteen and the two point zero. No, he
- 25:21Speaker 1: never directed any of He never directed any scrubs. He
- 25:25Speaker 1: directed a bunch of undatable because he drinks a lot
- 25:28Speaker 1: of he dressed a lot of multicam stuff, so I
- 25:31Speaker 1: know that he directed undatable a bunch. All right, Well,
- 25:34Speaker 1: let's move on. Kelseo rips a fart. Now, we don't
- 25:36Speaker 1: do too many fart jokes on Scrubs, but all of
- 25:38Speaker 1: a sudden, Kelso's ripping ass in the lobby. It's funny
- 25:43Speaker 1: of my professional pier I Rocko, Hi Rockold. Tell them
- 25:50Speaker 1: what happened yesterday when you when we left and how
- 25:52Speaker 1: you what did you do in front of Rocco? Did
- 25:54Speaker 1: you pee on my house? I saw a picture of
- 25:56Speaker 1: you peeing on my house. You were joking, You are joking.
- 26:04Speaker 1: Really okay, I think some splattered on my on my wall,
- 26:09Speaker 1: but it's okay, your dad will clean it up. What
- 26:11Speaker 1: do you what do you say to that? Okay, what's
- 26:26Speaker 1: up you? Okay? I love you? Okay, all right. So
- 26:29Speaker 1: scratching kilso fart reminded me, did you guys ever fart
- 26:33Speaker 1: on the show? Like in like by accident? No, if
- 26:36Speaker 1: I farted, it was for it was on purpose. So
- 26:38Speaker 1: I'm sorry, but I'm I'm I'm I'm very excited to
- 26:40Speaker 1: hear your story. Well, it just reminded me of the
- 26:43Speaker 1: one time that I did and Zach and I were
- 26:48Speaker 1: kind of like we're doing like a like a kissing
- 26:51Speaker 1: scene and we're standing there like over in the corner
- 26:54Speaker 1: and they're about to say and they say rolling, and
- 26:57Speaker 1: I may or may not have parted, and I was
- 27:00Speaker 1: just like, don't no, no, no no, no no no no no,
- 27:02Speaker 1: don't don't. And of course Zach was you know, just
- 27:07Speaker 1: made the biggest deal anyone could possibly make over somebody
- 27:10Speaker 1: farting and like I think made a song. There was
- 27:14Speaker 1: some clapping you involved in it. There was a lot
- 27:16Speaker 1: to talk about farting, and then of course that went
- 27:18Speaker 1: on the gag reel. And so we'd always had these
- 27:20Speaker 1: long gaggriels that would then play at the rap party.
- 27:22Speaker 1: So then it came time for the rat party and
- 27:25Speaker 1: then we all had to relive me farting on set
- 27:28Speaker 1: by accident, um right at the beginning, right after the
- 27:30Speaker 1: set rolling if it was an audio fart or was
- 27:35Speaker 1: an SPD when it was audio? Oh I heard it? Yeah,
- 27:41Speaker 1: probably so did everyone want to You have SPDs in Canada?
- 27:45Speaker 1: Do you know what that is? Silent but deadly? Yes?
- 27:50Speaker 1: I don't know. I mean I know, well, they're very adorable,
- 27:56Speaker 1: they're very polite. Parts, they're very polite. It's silent but
- 27:59Speaker 1: adorable all up there. Yeah, I mean, it was just
- 28:03Speaker 1: really just for some reason, why I heard kake it's fart.
- 28:07Speaker 1: I just had this wave of like the rat party
- 28:10Speaker 1: and the gag reel, and then I was just farting
- 28:12Speaker 1: at the gag, which isn't just like a few people
- 28:15Speaker 1: that were on set that may have heard it. Then
- 28:16Speaker 1: it was like all of the network of exacts and
- 28:18Speaker 1: people's spouses and friends and family that were also coming
- 28:21Speaker 1: to celebrate the end of the season. So that was fun.
- 28:24Speaker 1: That's funny. Everyone loves an accidental fart. All right, listen,
- 28:26Speaker 1: let's talk about how we flashback and the time Donald
- 28:30Speaker 1: comes into Turk comes into our DRM room and I'll go,
- 28:34Speaker 1: I go, I'm an eighth level over Magi with invisibility,
- 28:38Speaker 1: and this is Randall the Dragon. I call myself Chris One. Dude,
- 28:43Speaker 1: do you know who Chris One is? No, krs one,
- 28:48Speaker 1: Chris One. That's a that's a that was an inside
- 28:52Speaker 1: or thing that not a lot of people would I
- 28:54Speaker 1: thought a lot of people would pick up on it,
- 28:56Speaker 1: but not a lot of people did. KRS one is
- 28:59Speaker 1: Chris One one of the dopest m sason in the
- 29:02Speaker 1: history of hip hop. I didn't get that, did he No,
- 29:06Speaker 1: he didn't. But he wrote some of the dopest songs
- 29:08Speaker 1: I've ever heard in my life. Can I ask you
- 29:12Speaker 1: as a D and D guy, is an eighth level
- 29:14Speaker 1: ogre magi or with invisibility a real thing? Yes it is? No, yeah,
- 29:18Speaker 1: it is irrelibility. Yeah you can an ogre not an ogre.
- 29:23Speaker 1: He's not an ogre. He's not an ogre. He's an
- 29:25Speaker 1: ogre magi. So that's two different class that's put together,
- 29:28Speaker 1: so you can have as a class. Yeah, it's but
- 29:34Speaker 1: but Ogre's come with different with different attributes than humans do.
- 29:39Speaker 1: So if you're a magi, you're an ogre who is
- 29:42Speaker 1: also a wizard, so you could totally have invisibility spells. Okay, fine, okay,
- 29:48Speaker 1: well there you go. Um Or you should have seen
- 29:55Speaker 1: Donald with my nephew talking about they went like they
- 29:57Speaker 1: went like a Marvel wormhole and they're Matthew and Carrie
- 30:01Speaker 1: brothers for like fifteen minutes. Yea, they went into us,
- 30:05Speaker 1: they went into like George Joel Ewin right there with him.
- 30:07Speaker 1: There was like they were speaking Latin because of everything
- 30:10Speaker 1: that's happening in Loki, you know what I mean? Like it, Yes,
- 30:15Speaker 1: it's so easy to like now Marvel's becoming just a
- 30:18Speaker 1: little bit predictable, like I know what's coming next because
- 30:22Speaker 1: of what's happening. You know only goes you know the
- 30:24Speaker 1: full lineup of films coming. Well, no, but I know
- 30:27Speaker 1: what the Thunderbolt says, you know what I mean, And
- 30:29Speaker 1: I know what the freaking Secret Wars is. When they
- 30:31Speaker 1: started talking about these freaking timelines and all of that
- 30:34Speaker 1: stuff and the war that happened to to get about
- 30:39Speaker 1: musicals with the immediately immediately, all I could think of was,
- 30:43Speaker 1: oh shit, they're gonna do the fucking Secret Wars. They're
- 30:45Speaker 1: gonna do Secret Wars. All right, Well now we're back. Um,
- 30:49Speaker 1: what did you think of seems like a well both
- 30:53Speaker 1: the actor was really good Josh Randall, But did what
- 30:56Speaker 1: do you think of him as your love interests? Well,
- 30:58Speaker 1: he's great. I was trying to I had obviously, because
- 31:02Speaker 1: you guys are in the rewatch one. I mean, it's
- 31:04Speaker 1: like for me, I'm jumping out on these random episodes.
- 31:06Speaker 1: I haven't seen what happens before and what happens after,
- 31:07Speaker 1: and I'm thinking, like, I can't remember how long that
- 31:10Speaker 1: storyline was, but I feel like it was a chunk. Well,
- 31:13Speaker 1: you just it was like I think he did like
- 31:15Speaker 1: three episodes or something. You just recently decided to have
- 31:18Speaker 1: sex with him, okay, and that your favorite way is
- 31:22Speaker 1: to be on top with the lights off, yelling don't
- 31:26Speaker 1: look at me, so Elliott. So nobody's very likable. But
- 31:36Speaker 1: all of a sudden, there's this new plot point that
- 31:37Speaker 1: he's controlling you and and you do whatever he says,
- 31:40Speaker 1: and Carla is making her very pissed that you just
- 31:43Speaker 1: you're just you just do whatever he tells you to do. Yes.
- 31:47Speaker 1: One of my favorite lines of the entire episode is, Jake,
- 31:50Speaker 1: is it I know your name? I'm being condescending. It's Jake, right,
- 31:56Speaker 1: It's just shy of It's just I have nobody cares.
- 32:02Speaker 1: And jad has a special place of hate for all
- 32:04Speaker 1: of your lovers after him. Understandably, he's jealous because we
- 32:07Speaker 1: know that we're going to get back together and walk
- 32:09Speaker 1: off into the sunset together and make babies. Oh my god.
- 32:13Speaker 1: I my niece was watching the finale and I watched
- 32:18Speaker 1: a piece of it with her, and it was so
- 32:22Speaker 1: that whole like ending montage, and then they like of
- 32:26Speaker 1: the two, like you know, where you picked us together whatever,
- 32:29Speaker 1: And then they had all these clips of like just
- 32:32Speaker 1: that last episode of just shooting it, like us all
- 32:34Speaker 1: being wrapped out and doing our last take, and I
- 32:38Speaker 1: was a little for Clint. Yeah, anyways, I know we're
- 32:42Speaker 1: not doing the rewatch of that episode, but yes, we
- 32:46Speaker 1: do end up together. And just just seeing that was
- 32:50Speaker 1: like I just brought up all this, just that memories
- 32:52Speaker 1: of that last day. I'm like, it was so wild.
- 32:55Speaker 1: All right, well, we're gonna take a break, we come back.
- 32:57Speaker 1: We're gonna see if Sarah pardon in any of the
- 32:59Speaker 1: other scene right back after these words and we're bad.
- 33:09Speaker 1: We are back. Hey, listen, you were trying to get
- 33:13Speaker 1: into one day Shoon, what you're trying to do. Listen,
- 33:18Speaker 1: that's what I'm trying to get into. What we were
- 33:19Speaker 1: talking about. We were talking about Bob Kelseo farting and that,
- 33:23Speaker 1: but we forgot to talk about what he says after
- 33:27Speaker 1: he farts, and that he likes Korean call girls. Yes,
- 33:31Speaker 1: and he doesn't care who knows. No, he said, well,
- 33:34Speaker 1: I thought he said something about, um, he likes free
- 33:36Speaker 1: donuts and Asian prostitutes. No, he says Korean call girls.
- 33:41Speaker 1: Those are the exact words he says. He doesn't say
- 33:44Speaker 1: Asian prostitutes. Okay, Well, I think one was the feeding
- 33:48Speaker 1: in and one was his response, Like maybe Neil was
- 33:51Speaker 1: said the first one, Kelso responded the second. But he
- 33:55Speaker 1: doesn't care who knows he's married to a woman. Yeah,
- 34:00Speaker 1: well doesn't care that everybody. I'm old, I'm old cocks.
- 34:03Speaker 1: I don't care what you say, I don't care what
- 34:05Speaker 1: you think. I'll do whatever I want. I'm gonna fire,
- 34:07Speaker 1: I'm gonna tell everyone I like Asian prostitutes. I forgot
- 34:11Speaker 1: one other thing that came in with this episode, a
- 34:14Speaker 1: huge thing that we didn't talk about. Go ahead, s
- 34:19Speaker 1: c B. Yeah, super Chocolate Bear. First time it's ever said, dude,
- 34:23Speaker 1: this is like a This is an iconic episode when
- 34:26Speaker 1: you really think about all of the things that hit
- 34:29Speaker 1: the freaking Internet and stayed on an internet. SCB. Stuck,
- 34:34Speaker 1: It's stuck. That's something that stayed. Like people come up
- 34:38Speaker 1: to me still and call me super chocolate Bear. Yeah
- 34:41Speaker 1: you are. And when j D says it to you
- 34:43Speaker 1: and you're like, I love it, It's like I knew
- 34:45Speaker 1: you would. I had that loaded. So now the janitor
- 34:52Speaker 1: is walking around trying to get JD to eat this
- 34:55Speaker 1: pie right, and it's got laxatives in it and Jad's
- 34:59Speaker 1: put two and two to together. And also the Todd, Oh,
- 35:02Speaker 1: my gods eaten this pie, and he says the funniest
- 35:05Speaker 1: line of the whole episode, doozy of a choosie, make
- 35:07Speaker 1: room out of my way. I got a doozy of
- 35:09Speaker 1: a choosie. Make it stop five. First of all, the
- 35:16Speaker 1: janitor fucked him up so badly that he's in the iculid. Yeah,
- 35:24Speaker 1: because you and the janitor only had one bite on
- 35:27Speaker 1: the roof, and I love that the janitor would like,
- 35:29Speaker 1: I'm like, He's like, I'll take it just to get
- 35:30Speaker 1: you down, Jade. But then you guys are like on
- 35:33Speaker 1: the toilet after a bite, and like the Todd, he
- 35:35Speaker 1: probably had like a couple of slices. Well he pushed on,
- 35:41Speaker 1: did you notice that we're jumping ahead? But when I
- 35:43Speaker 1: had to have the explosive diarrhea next to the janitor
- 35:45Speaker 1: that you see my my toes point, I did not
- 35:51Speaker 1: see that, but you did. Oh, crack me up, like
- 35:55Speaker 1: you just see me in the janitor's legs. And then
- 35:57Speaker 1: all of a sudden something you know, obviously don't hear anything,
- 35:59Speaker 1: but you see me like point my toes and lift
- 36:01Speaker 1: them off the ground. What's up with the boys trying
- 36:05Speaker 1: to get rowdy to choose between the two of them,
- 36:07Speaker 1: and that's how they're going to get him. They choke four.
- 36:10Speaker 1: I don't know, dude, for the Carla because like, who's laughing,
- 36:14Speaker 1: Like no one's like, we're doing it for us? What
- 36:16Speaker 1: it's wrong with us? I don't know. I didn't get it.
- 36:18Speaker 1: I was like coming to me, I'll scratch your special region.
- 36:26Speaker 1: I feel like you are. You're was like set up
- 36:28Speaker 1: and you're waiting for Carla to come in or is
- 36:30Speaker 1: she like a coincidence as she comes in. It's gotta
- 36:33Speaker 1: be a coincidence that she comes in because we're doing
- 36:35Speaker 1: the joke before she walks in. Yeah, and then she
- 36:38Speaker 1: walks yeah, Elliott, you um, Sarah you um explode a
- 36:44Speaker 1: bloody nose onto your God. That was funny. It's very
- 36:48Speaker 1: very on brand. So I used to obviously get very
- 36:51Speaker 1: serious nosebleeds as a child, um to the point where
- 36:54Speaker 1: they would last like forty five minutes. And I remember
- 36:57Speaker 1: grade seven graduation true story. Um, we all go to
- 37:01Speaker 1: you know, rehearse and then we're gonna go get ready
- 37:03Speaker 1: at Jen Murray's house and then come back and do
- 37:06Speaker 1: our graduation. So that morning, I'm putting sunscreen on just
- 37:11Speaker 1: very gently because I've been having these Like I starts
- 37:13Speaker 1: a forty five minute noseblade. So I go to rehearsal.
- 37:16Speaker 1: My mom picks me up, but go to the er.
- 37:18Speaker 1: They burn the outside of my nostrils as well as
- 37:21Speaker 1: the inside, so that looks great in the pictures. And
- 37:23Speaker 1: then my mom has brought me an outfit because I'm
- 37:25Speaker 1: not gonna have time to go get changed at my
- 37:27Speaker 1: friend's house before grad and it's this like crocheted sweater
- 37:31Speaker 1: and this is skirt. This is not what I hadn't
- 37:34Speaker 1: done it I'm wearing to grab. So these noseblades were, yeah,
- 37:39Speaker 1: quite a thing. They started I think when I was
- 37:41Speaker 1: trying out for the basketball team, which I didn't make
- 37:43Speaker 1: in grade five, six, seven, eight or nine. But the
- 37:46Speaker 1: ball was coming towards me and it was tryouts and
- 37:48Speaker 1: I was going to catch it, and I was like,
- 37:49Speaker 1: this is it. It's my moment, it's all happening, it's
- 37:52Speaker 1: coming together. Someone's passing me the ball and it kind
- 37:55Speaker 1: of felt like right through my hands into my face
- 37:58Speaker 1: and triggered this. It's like, yeah, very long run of
- 38:02Speaker 1: do you think you might have a deviated septum because
- 38:04Speaker 1: of this. I do have a deviated septum, which I
- 38:09Speaker 1: found out about later when I was working on a
- 38:11Speaker 1: show and walked into a wall and he had to
- 38:12Speaker 1: extra my nose. But that's another story for a different
- 38:16Speaker 1: a different rewatched Sar. Do you realize you're wearing a
- 38:18Speaker 1: rhinestone shirt in this episode? And it was sparkling and
- 38:22Speaker 1: I was like, I doesn't really feel like something Elliott
- 38:24Speaker 1: would wear, but you're wearing like a Karen rhinestone. I
- 38:30Speaker 1: noticed that as well. It was just shy of saying
- 38:32Speaker 1: live love whatever I had on my true religion, gene
- 38:41Speaker 1: true religion. They were such a I love those jeans
- 38:46Speaker 1: and like there was definitely a bedazzled belt. But you
- 38:48Speaker 1: approved that, you approved all your Worddrobe. You went in
- 38:51Speaker 1: there and like give me the rhinestones. Do you have
- 38:53Speaker 1: a problem with something that I'm just wouldn't have approved?
- 38:58Speaker 1: You know, it's a lot of uh yeah. Did the
- 39:03Speaker 1: old act like the short sleever with the long sleever
- 39:05Speaker 1: underneath rocked in my everyday world? There are another two
- 39:10Speaker 1: things that I noticed about this episode that I thought,
- 39:13Speaker 1: were you know this this These were very on brand
- 39:17Speaker 1: John c McGinley has a freaking monologue. The size of
- 39:21Speaker 1: that shit had to be like three pages, man, where
- 39:24Speaker 1: he's talking about his wife and how she h you
- 39:27Speaker 1: know what I mean, like how her happiness and everything
- 39:30Speaker 1: like that. Dude, that monologue was for ever and he
- 39:35Speaker 1: rattles through it and they cut away from it a
- 39:37Speaker 1: couple of times, meaning like maybe he didn't get it
- 39:40Speaker 1: all in one, but you know, he'd strive to get
- 39:42Speaker 1: in in one. But it was gigantic and he freaking
- 39:45Speaker 1: masterfully does it. That's one thing. Another thing that I
- 39:49Speaker 1: was like, holy shit about was Sam Lloyd. Dude, you
- 39:55Speaker 1: don't talk about him. We don't talk about him enough.
- 39:58Speaker 1: And how fucking amazing is at how amazing he was
- 40:02Speaker 1: at physical comedy. His beats in this are all physical
- 40:05Speaker 1: comedy and they're so funny, typewriter everything, Like Cabinet. He
- 40:10Speaker 1: hits that final cabinet twice in two different ways, and
- 40:13Speaker 1: they're both the most solid hits. I mean, it's like
- 40:16Speaker 1: WWE wrestling masterful. Man. We don't talk about that enough,
- 40:20Speaker 1: just like, you know, because he's in a lot of
- 40:22Speaker 1: episodes and and and I don't know, maybe it's because
- 40:25Speaker 1: maybe it's because we miss him or I don't know
- 40:29Speaker 1: what it is, but we I just want to say, man,
- 40:31Speaker 1: we don't do him enough justice in saying how funny
- 40:35Speaker 1: he is, because he was so, so, so funny. The
- 40:38Speaker 1: character is not really the same person. He's trying to
- 40:41Speaker 1: do calculations on a typewriter. Yeah, he's not necessarily. And
- 40:47Speaker 1: then Jordan takes his office and did you notice that
- 40:50Speaker 1: he's set up? And it kind of grazed by it,
- 40:52Speaker 1: but he I wonder if that must have been a
- 40:58Speaker 1: longer beat that they cut out or something, because he's
- 41:00Speaker 1: got his whole desk set up at the gameteria. Well,
- 41:05Speaker 1: he's amazing and always flop sweating and so good. And
- 41:10Speaker 1: now so now I take on Hooch because I'm mad
- 41:12Speaker 1: at Turk, so I try to take on Hooch. Is
- 41:14Speaker 1: my new best friend. Chocolate Bear number two? You call him? Yes?
- 41:18Speaker 1: And then you come over and I go, now, come on,
- 41:20Speaker 1: don't be obvious, and I go, that seat's taken, ass face. Yea, hello,
- 41:28Speaker 1: Chocolate Bear number two. And then he's riding on the
- 41:33Speaker 1: back of the scooter with you and everything. Yeah, and
- 41:35Speaker 1: he's got already has a personalized helmet and he and
- 41:42Speaker 1: I I say that it's your fault of the bullying cubes,
- 41:45Speaker 1: and he goes, if it happens again, I'm gonna take
- 41:48Speaker 1: out funny of fingers. It'll be my funny little prank.
- 41:56Speaker 1: Why who is legit crazy? He almost kills someone with
- 42:00Speaker 1: a sneaker? Legit crazy? And then so let's talk about
- 42:03Speaker 1: Elliot and a new job. Yeah, I forgot that hospital.
- 42:07Speaker 1: I forgot too. Yeah, remember she season five, she starts
- 42:13Speaker 1: in a different hospital. I think, Sarah, you weren't even
- 42:14Speaker 1: shooting with us for like the first couple episodes. Yeah,
- 42:18Speaker 1: it was like on a different a different campus. I
- 42:20Speaker 1: feel like, is that I don't remember if that's when
- 42:23Speaker 1: I start. There was one season where I stopped wearing
- 42:26Speaker 1: scrubs and I was like, yeah, that sounds kind of fun.
- 42:28Speaker 1: Let's wear some It's been five seasons or whatever, how
- 42:30Speaker 1: many seasons of I'll just wear some fancy was healthy
- 42:35Speaker 1: hospital at the wardrobe fitting, and I was so pumped
- 42:38Speaker 1: that I was wearing all these cute dresses with this
- 42:40Speaker 1: like little lab coat and these like crazy high heels,
- 42:44Speaker 1: and I was like, oh, this is awesome. And we
- 42:45Speaker 1: were like four days in and I was like, why
- 42:48Speaker 1: did I do this? Why didn't I stay in scrubs,
- 42:51Speaker 1: like just like brow your in scrubs, Jamie's and sneakers
- 42:54Speaker 1: every day. And then I'm like in you know, yeah,
- 42:58Speaker 1: high heels marching down the hall. It was good, though
- 43:00Speaker 1: I thought it smarting them in season five to show
- 43:02Speaker 1: the difference between a hospital that has more money and
- 43:05Speaker 1: this hospital, which is supposed to be a city hospital
- 43:07Speaker 1: without a lot of money that's coming to your season five,
- 43:11Speaker 1: even with the nose spitting, the nose blade blood everywhere,
- 43:16Speaker 1: still got it because even you must have a really
- 43:19Speaker 1: good interview because you you splattered blood all over his
- 43:21Speaker 1: face and still got the job. Dude. The ship starts
- 43:24Speaker 1: leaking too. It's not like it just like usually when
- 43:27Speaker 1: you see nosebleeds and shows, just like it stays there.
- 43:31Speaker 1: But this thing starts dripping down. They must have just
- 43:34Speaker 1: done like an eye dropper of blood and then ran
- 43:36Speaker 1: off camera because it was like slowly coming down, slowly
- 43:39Speaker 1: going down, and then I'm alone. We revealed that the
- 43:44Speaker 1: it's not a tier, it's in fact my leaky ceiling
- 43:48Speaker 1: and big gass stunt of the bathtub falling through into
- 43:52Speaker 1: my apartment and the ad ship was hilarious. I think
- 43:55Speaker 1: I'm gonna have a new beautiful neighbor to flirt with.
- 43:58Speaker 1: And then her husband jump town. So her boyfriend her husband.
- 44:01Speaker 1: But not only does he jump down, he's superhero. Jumps
- 44:04Speaker 1: down too, but he lands and it's real heroic and
- 44:08Speaker 1: he's like, yo, you looking at my girl? Yeah. I
- 44:11Speaker 1: would have been like, yeah, my fucking y'all just fell
- 44:14Speaker 1: through the roof. Yeah, I just got this place. And
- 44:19Speaker 1: she was kind of flirting for a second. She's like, sorry, yeah,
- 44:24Speaker 1: he just felt through the ceiling. Calm down. Now what
- 44:26Speaker 1: were they doing that? She's in the tub and he's
- 44:28Speaker 1: not in the tub, but he still has on a
- 44:31Speaker 1: freaking towel. He just got out of the tub. He
- 44:34Speaker 1: got out of the tub or he was shaving. I
- 44:37Speaker 1: don't know. All I know is she's in the tub,
- 44:39Speaker 1: the tub drops filled with the water, and then he comes.
- 44:43Speaker 1: He jumps down. He doesn't fall through, he jumps down
- 44:46Speaker 1: and he's got on a towel. Right, we couldn't show
- 44:51Speaker 1: his penis, don't I understand that, Zach? But what the
- 44:55Speaker 1: hell are they doing upstairs? And much better finale if
- 44:57Speaker 1: he jumped down with his dog flopping, they would have
- 45:02Speaker 1: left that they would show yeah, that would stay in
- 45:07Speaker 1: the show, but not marijuana. No, no, we're not marijuana. Dude.
- 45:14Speaker 1: Let me ask you a question. Did they show down
- 45:16Speaker 1: one firefly line? Yeah? No, don Did they show boot
- 45:21Speaker 1: booty crack a tiny bits? Not mine, not yours? No,
- 45:28Speaker 1: they show they show who do they? What do they?
- 45:30Speaker 1: What do they show? I think it's one of those
- 45:31Speaker 1: things where like, you know, yeah, when you go when
- 45:36Speaker 1: we were doing scrubs, like you're in Broun Underwear a lot.
- 45:39Speaker 1: But there's obviously like that kind of framework around network
- 45:42Speaker 1: television where there's only a certain point you can go
- 45:45Speaker 1: and then um, yeah, as soon as you go to cable,
- 45:47Speaker 1: there's like you know, there's it's a conversation did and
- 45:51Speaker 1: say how how how naughty are you willing to be?
- 45:55Speaker 1: Wasn't so much like that, It was it was pretty collaborative,
- 45:58Speaker 1: like as different scenes came up. It was kind of
- 46:01Speaker 1: organic the way it would work. And I got a
- 46:03Speaker 1: lot of same terms of the you know, if we're
- 46:06Speaker 1: an underwear what said underwear we're or could bring my
- 46:09Speaker 1: own in And also I notice your character has jungle
- 46:12Speaker 1: fever on that show. Also, like Big Time, she is
- 46:16Speaker 1: a interraction though if we can use that term anymore.
- 46:18Speaker 1: Joel can we? Oh, Donald can't? I can't. Just checking
- 46:26Speaker 1: Spike Lee made the movie, Okay, I'm just double checking.
- 46:29Speaker 1: I don't want to get Donald in trouble for saying,
- 46:31Speaker 1: d y'all can't even sing that song. Huh wever in love?
- 46:38Speaker 1: I can bop my head while you sing. So, Sarah,
- 46:44Speaker 1: they come to you and they're like, hey, you have
- 46:46Speaker 1: a sex scene coming up. Will you show Ariola or
- 46:50Speaker 1: no Ariola? How does it work? So they we have
- 46:54Speaker 1: a scene coming up, and um, and yeah, when you
- 47:00Speaker 1: read it, you can kind of usually get a fairly
- 47:02Speaker 1: good idea, you know, of what it's gonna of what
- 47:05Speaker 1: it's going to be. But there was really there was
- 47:07Speaker 1: nothing that was you know, that we did that was
- 47:10Speaker 1: out of my comfort zone. Um, other than the course,
- 47:15Speaker 1: like it's Canada and it's winter and it's freezing, and
- 47:19Speaker 1: the one day that we have snow on the ground
- 47:20Speaker 1: is the day that I'm answering the door naked. So
- 47:22Speaker 1: it was like, you know, there's there's snow everywhere and
- 47:24Speaker 1: I'm in like obviously I didn't show everything, but I
- 47:27Speaker 1: was in very you know, as in undis and like
- 47:30Speaker 1: stickers and answer the door where it's less than zero
- 47:34Speaker 1: degrees and multiple takes of that. And then the other
- 47:36Speaker 1: one was the pool where there was a lot of
- 47:38Speaker 1: discussion over that scene, you know, like how is that
- 47:40Speaker 1: going to work where you kind of drop off your
- 47:42Speaker 1: clothes and then you dive into the pool. So how
- 47:44Speaker 1: are we going to get that shot where we get
- 47:46Speaker 1: and make the story makes sense to get you into
- 47:48Speaker 1: the water. And then I was maybe you should up
- 47:52Speaker 1: the sex a bit because Donald's wife and and are
- 47:56Speaker 1: assuming to be guests are big fans of Bridgerton for
- 48:03Speaker 1: you and um and uh and you know that. I
- 48:06Speaker 1: haven't seen it, but I'm told it's very steamy. So
- 48:08Speaker 1: maybe a firefight coming back for season two though I know,
- 48:11Speaker 1: but there'll be somebody else with abs, I'm sure. I'm
- 48:18Speaker 1: just saying sorry to take it up to Bridgerton level
- 48:23Speaker 1: sex on Firefly Lane, we can ask one of your
- 48:26Speaker 1: favorite viewers, Amanda, who's going to join us in a second.
- 48:29Speaker 1: She really really really loves Firefly Lane, don't you clues? Yeah,
- 48:33Speaker 1: she says she does, and tight Hi clutes. All right,
- 48:37Speaker 1: She's gonna join us in a second. We will be
- 48:38Speaker 1: right back to have Amanda Clutes. She's gonna talk about
- 48:41Speaker 1: how much she loves ours show, snore, and then we're
- 48:44Speaker 1: gonna talk about live your life. We'll be right back.
- 48:54Speaker 1: All right, we're back. Um, I don't have a splitter,
- 48:57Speaker 1: So I doesn't have a splitter. You have technology. The
- 49:03Speaker 1: joke is that Sarah can barely ever manage even get
- 49:06Speaker 1: on the zoom call. I'm with you, Sarah, I'm with you,
- 49:09Speaker 1: Thank you right, don't believe it. I can't even email
- 49:16Speaker 1: very books. Ask me to sign over email. I have
- 49:19Speaker 1: to send it to my assistant to sign Look at
- 49:21Speaker 1: that's how bad. I got an assistant now, and everything's fancy.
- 49:25Speaker 1: She is so fancy. For those of you who don't
- 49:28Speaker 1: know who our guest is, she hosts a very very
- 49:31Speaker 1: popular talk show called The Talk Yes and uh. Not
- 49:36Speaker 1: only does she do that, she also has a wonderful
- 49:38Speaker 1: book that she just put out herself. I'm gonna hold
- 49:41Speaker 1: it up like a real talk show host, does you know,
- 49:44Speaker 1: like on the talk shows when they when they hold
- 49:45Speaker 1: up the book, the name of the book and go ahead.
- 49:49Speaker 1: If you're listening, you can't see what a good job
- 49:51Speaker 1: I am of being a talk show host. This is
- 49:53Speaker 1: what would happen on The Talk right, Amanda, we would
- 49:55Speaker 1: hold up the book and go, We're so happy to
- 49:57Speaker 1: have amand includes here. Her new book is Live Your Life.
- 50:01Speaker 1: She wrote it with her sister Anna Kluth, and it's
- 50:03Speaker 1: flying off the shelves. Right. That sound like I could
- 50:05Speaker 1: be on the Talk. It was, Yes, I'm auditioning to
- 50:08Speaker 1: do a guest spot on the Talk. I have told
- 50:10Speaker 1: them to get you into be I know Jerry O'Connell
- 50:12Speaker 1: is doing guest spots on the Talk. I feel like
- 50:13Speaker 1: Donald and I should steal that position from Jerry. Jerry O'Connell.
- 50:17Speaker 1: Jerry is a king of guests, hosting man. Yes, he's
- 50:22Speaker 1: very funny, but I feel like you and I could
- 50:23Speaker 1: come on the Talk and really crush it. Jerry also
- 50:27Speaker 1: has a splitter on hand, always like you need to
- 50:29Speaker 1: sit that kind of fallback joke. Commanda, for those of
- 50:33Speaker 1: you keep them wait, so wait, let's talk about fire
- 50:37Speaker 1: Flame one more thing on fire for plane. Amanda is
- 50:40Speaker 1: your biggest fan. She would She would text me like,
- 50:43Speaker 1: are you watching Sarah's show? It is amazing? She loves it. Yes, answer.
- 50:50Speaker 1: I watched a couple episodes and when there was when
- 50:52Speaker 1: there was no coin slot, I ducked out jes so
- 50:54Speaker 1: you know Sarah. I was like, you need to watch it.
- 50:56Speaker 1: You have to support your friend. She's amazing, and he
- 51:00Speaker 1: was like I know, and I'm like, no, you don't understand.
- 51:03Speaker 1: She's incredible in this show. I am a huge fan.
- 51:07Speaker 1: And then I would DM her and I'd be like,
- 51:09Speaker 1: you're amazing. Yeah, Amanda is the reason you got season
- 51:12Speaker 1: two because she's broadcasting it out all over the place. Yeah,
- 51:17Speaker 1: my wife loves Firefly Lane, and the one thing she
- 51:22Speaker 1: says after watching every episode is Sarah is so fucking
- 51:27Speaker 1: good Sarah. She's so good. Donald. After I was dm
- 51:31Speaker 1: ng Sarah, I would DM Casey and I'd be like, Casey,
- 51:34Speaker 1: are you watching Sarah on Firefly? I'm not kidding you.
- 51:38Speaker 1: She would be like, girl, you know I'm watching. I know,
- 51:41Speaker 1: And I'm like I know. And then I was like, yes,
- 51:43Speaker 1: she always been this amazing, this is amazing. Yeah, that's
- 51:49Speaker 1: what you did say. Zach did say, No, she's always
- 51:51Speaker 1: been amazing. Well, but the world is finally seeing all
- 51:53Speaker 1: her different levels. She was known on our show for
- 51:56Speaker 1: being hilarious, but now on Firefly she's playing a lot
- 51:59Speaker 1: of dramatic stuff. Plus she got jungle fever. Can say,
- 52:03Speaker 1: only I can and you will. All right, now, listen.
- 52:06Speaker 1: Um is another thing that both Amanda and your wife love.
- 52:11Speaker 1: They d m about that and talk about what's his
- 52:13Speaker 1: name's abs? No, they don't talk about his abs? No,
- 52:16Speaker 1: what are they talk about? He shows coin slot at
- 52:20Speaker 1: the last episode. It was like, it's so steamy, you
- 52:25Speaker 1: should watch it, and I'm not gonna watch. I'm not
- 52:27Speaker 1: gonna wait for the CEM scene. She's like, okay, episode six,
- 52:37Speaker 1: So I told her once. I was like, I'm just
- 52:39Speaker 1: gonna fast forward episode six and see what everybody's talking about.
- 52:42Speaker 1: I never did well this, Maybe Zach and Donald Bridgeton
- 52:44Speaker 1: could be your next like when you want to slide
- 52:46Speaker 1: in some other rewatch for your podcast to stretch out.
- 52:49Speaker 1: I'm not gonna watch, but I watching that way. I
- 52:56Speaker 1: think Casey and Amanda should do a brit rewatch. That
- 52:59Speaker 1: would mean you know what, Zach, we should go on
- 53:02Speaker 1: vacation and Casey and Amanda should take over the podcast.
- 53:08Speaker 1: Well you watch that, yeah, Daniel, do you watch Bridgton? No?
- 53:14Speaker 1: I don't watcher. Did you watch episode six? I hear
- 53:19Speaker 1: that's where on the episodes it was like Game of
- 53:23Speaker 1: Thrones level of like, oh, my we're just worth going for.
- 53:27Speaker 1: Oh yeah, there's no fighting, it's all sex. Yeah, that's
- 53:32Speaker 1: where you lose me. You lose me there. I gotta
- 53:34Speaker 1: see some like skulls bashed in and then sex, and
- 53:38Speaker 1: then it works for me. I haven't watching, but I
- 53:41Speaker 1: hear that's very steamy too, uncomfortably from my mom. She
- 53:46Speaker 1: was like this Outland is hot and heavy. Wid Um,
- 53:53Speaker 1: all right, listen, let's segue into something on the total
- 53:57Speaker 1: opposite side of the spectrum. Um, we all know from
- 54:00Speaker 1: from the show what happened to Amanda and our friend Nick,
- 54:03Speaker 1: and I have to say something. I honestly thought Amanda,
- 54:06Speaker 1: and I've told you this. I'm going to say it
- 54:07Speaker 1: very tactfully because I'm a talk show host on this
- 54:11Speaker 1: show today. I did not think this was going to
- 54:14Speaker 1: be as good as it is. That was very tactful. Yes,
- 54:18Speaker 1: Sterry O'Connell did, though he knew. He knew, No, I listen,
- 54:21Speaker 1: when your friend writes a book, and of course it's
- 54:23Speaker 1: about something so personal, I knew I was going to
- 54:26Speaker 1: read it and love it because I love Amanda and
- 54:28Speaker 1: I love Nick more than anything I could. I'm not
- 54:32Speaker 1: just saying this, listeners, because this affected our lives so
- 54:36Speaker 1: much and affected the person next to me more than anything.
- 54:39Speaker 1: But I could not put this book down. Amanda. You
- 54:42Speaker 1: did such an incredible job telling this story, and it
- 54:46Speaker 1: isn't just the sad parts of what happened. It jumps
- 54:49Speaker 1: back and forth between the love story of you and
- 54:52Speaker 1: Nick and I guess my first question is like, how
- 54:55Speaker 1: the hell did you do this? I know you had
- 54:56Speaker 1: some help from your sister, Anna, who's a professional writer,
- 54:59Speaker 1: but tell us the story of how this came about
- 55:02Speaker 1: and how it's so darned good. Well, it is a
- 55:06Speaker 1: true fifty fifty collab. Guys, like Anna is an incredible writer,
- 55:10Speaker 1: but she also lived with us during this whole entire time,
- 55:13Speaker 1: and she was kind of like Nick and I third
- 55:15Speaker 1: wheel even like in our throughout our relationship in New York.
- 55:19Speaker 1: She was on part of our honeymoon with us like Anna,
- 55:22Speaker 1: and Nick loved Anna. He always was like, is Annie
- 55:25Speaker 1: come in? Annie's coming? Oh good, and he's coming. So
- 55:28Speaker 1: she just knew a lot about our life. And she's
- 55:31Speaker 1: an incredible writer, and she literally we communicate telepathically. So
- 55:36Speaker 1: she was the only person that I wanted to do
- 55:38Speaker 1: this with. And HarperCollins suggested a ghostwriter, and Anna has nothing,
- 55:43Speaker 1: you know, published of this nature, so they were a
- 55:46Speaker 1: little hesitant, to say the least. But then she sent
- 55:49Speaker 1: to the sample of their writing. They emailed right back
- 55:52Speaker 1: and they were like, oh no, no, no no, no, no, yes,
- 55:54Speaker 1: please do this. Lucky because a ghostwriter, who's you know,
- 55:57Speaker 1: for those of you don't know, is someone who's sort
- 55:59Speaker 1: of high in the background and help someone write a
- 56:01Speaker 1: book who's never written a book that would have been
- 56:03Speaker 1: so impersonal. Whereas Anna, as you'll see him when you
- 56:06Speaker 1: read the book, was by a man to side. I mean,
- 56:10Speaker 1: it's also just there's so many beautiful things in this book.
- 56:13Speaker 1: But one of the other themes that is so incredibly
- 56:15Speaker 1: moving is the bond between you and your sister and
- 56:18Speaker 1: how she was by your side every single step of
- 56:21Speaker 1: the way. Yeah, no, she was. I couldn't have gotten
- 56:23Speaker 1: through this without her. I mean, you know, you saw
- 56:25Speaker 1: it firsthand. But Anna and my brother Todd, you know, Yeah,
- 56:30Speaker 1: Anna was like Elvis's second mom when I was at
- 56:32Speaker 1: the hospital every day, and I never knew how long
- 56:34Speaker 1: I was able to stay at the hospital, So she
- 56:36Speaker 1: was always just kind of like literally second mom and
- 56:38Speaker 1: took over and never asked for anything in return. She
- 56:41Speaker 1: just did it with you know, a smile on her face. No,
- 56:46Speaker 1: it was amazing, and we wrote it together, we really did.
- 56:49Speaker 1: I mean she was in Paris, I was here in La.
- 56:51Speaker 1: I would put Elvis to bed and I would start
- 56:53Speaker 1: writing around eight pm, trying to keep my eyes open.
- 56:56Speaker 1: But I you know, we had that such a deadline.
- 56:58Speaker 1: You usually get like at least a year to write
- 57:00Speaker 1: a book. They gave us five months. And so I
- 57:04Speaker 1: was like at you know, my computer every night at
- 57:06Speaker 1: eight pm, and then I would go to sleep and
- 57:09Speaker 1: send her whatever I wrote. And then she would be
- 57:11Speaker 1: waking up in Paris and she would say, sister, I'm
- 57:14Speaker 1: on it. Let's let's I'll look through everything you just
- 57:16Speaker 1: sent me. So it was kind of like everyone. You know,
- 57:18Speaker 1: we were working on at twenty four seven, which is
- 57:20Speaker 1: I think how we got it done in five months. Yeah,
- 57:23Speaker 1: that's how they do visual effects sometimes on giant movies,
- 57:25Speaker 1: like when when when La stops some foreign nation begins,
- 57:29Speaker 1: and so it's being worked on in twenty four seven.
- 57:33Speaker 1: I'm gonna I want to ask you original questions and
- 57:35Speaker 1: have these guys ask you original questions. But I'm gonna
- 57:37Speaker 1: ask you a question. I know you get asked a lot,
- 57:39Speaker 1: but it's hard not to read this book and not
- 57:42Speaker 1: want to ask you. And I want to ask you,
- 57:46Speaker 1: as someone who's your best friend, how the hell have
- 57:52Speaker 1: you stayed so strong? This was the hardest thing that
- 57:56Speaker 1: anyone could ever go through, and it happened pretty fast,
- 58:01Speaker 1: and yet you never of course you had your horrible moments,
- 58:05Speaker 1: I'm sure, but how the hell did you manage to
- 58:08Speaker 1: stay so strong and also simultaneously raise a little baby
- 58:12Speaker 1: during all this? Um? I think you know, in writing
- 58:17Speaker 1: everything down, it helps you kind of like look retrospectively
- 58:20Speaker 1: and kind of figure out how you did it. But
- 58:23Speaker 1: I think a couple of things. The first is the
- 58:26Speaker 1: help of my family. I could not I could not
- 58:28Speaker 1: have done this. You know. My brother and sister came in,
- 58:31Speaker 1: and then my mom and dad came in, and then
- 58:32Speaker 1: Leslie came in, and so I literally had like a
- 58:36Speaker 1: huge support system that allowed me to go be with
- 58:39Speaker 1: Nick every day and fight for him and research and
- 58:41Speaker 1: do everything and I did with Nick. The second is
- 58:44Speaker 1: you know my faith in God and what I believe,
- 58:47Speaker 1: And I just feel like, you know, when you're going
- 58:50Speaker 1: through something this hard, when you have this trauma faced,
- 58:54Speaker 1: you know, every day, and this horrible news every single day.
- 58:58Speaker 1: To be able to give that burden to something else
- 59:01Speaker 1: that is higher and bigger than you. Of course you're
- 59:04Speaker 1: going to always carry it on your shoulders and it'll
- 59:06Speaker 1: always be in your heart, but like just to be
- 59:08Speaker 1: able to to pray and ask for prayer and ask
- 59:11Speaker 1: for that support, just like it gave the burden to
- 59:15Speaker 1: something else bigger than me. So that was huge. And then,
- 59:19Speaker 1: you know, I think I think I'm innately a fighter.
- 59:24Speaker 1: I'm innately somebody that I realized in writing this book.
- 59:28Speaker 1: I actually got nervous about it. I was like, do
- 59:30Speaker 1: I thrive under pressure? Like? Am I somebody? It's something
- 59:34Speaker 1: I asked my therapist, like do I am I the
- 59:37Speaker 1: best version of myself under like extreme amounts of pressure?
- 59:41Speaker 1: Which is something that I've tried to figure out and
- 59:44Speaker 1: deal with because it's like worrisome obviously, right, Like what
- 59:48Speaker 1: do you do when everything's fine? Are you? Are you okay?
- 59:51Speaker 1: Or are you like your best version when you have
- 59:53Speaker 1: to like throw down and like live life on a moment. Well,
- 59:56Speaker 1: I think You've always had a pretty extraordinary life. But
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: I feel like I, you know, Donald gets a mosquito
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: bite and he goes to see like a surgeon, and
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: I have a bit of bad news and I get
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: in the fetal position and get onto the covers, and
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: I'm reading this book and it's just incredible. How you
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: how you were able to persevere and and and fight
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: every single day. Well thanks, but I mean you know
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: you would do the same thing if it was your
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: person lying in the ICU and they couldn't speak for
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: themselves and they couldn't do anything. I mean, you would
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: do anything and everything you can. I mean, you would,
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: um and you know, I mean you knew Nick as
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: you know, he would want me to you know what
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: I mean. He would want me to fight, he would
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: want me to research. He would want me to be
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: the best mom I could be for Elvis, like he
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: would want me to move forward with my life. A
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: lot of people, you know, ask me that about, you know,
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: just living now, and I'm like, yes, I could live
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: in grief every single I cry every day still, of
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: course I do. And it's like I cried myself to
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: sleep last night. That's never going to change. But I
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: know Nick would want me to move forward, you know
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: what I mean. If he could have said anything on
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: his deathbed. He would have said, don't you dare stop
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: living your life. I want you to find love again.
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: I want you to raise our sun with joy and happiness.
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: I want you to work, I want you to thrive.
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: I want you to succeed. I mean, I would have
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: said the same thing to him, so I know it's
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: what he would have said to me. Yeah, you guys
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: can feel free to chime in if you want to
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: say anything. I anyone to monopolize the interview of our
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: fancy guests. Well, I just want to say that I'm
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: completely in awe of your strength. I followed you kind
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: of just from the beginning of when it all started
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: to happen, and we were, you know, jumping rope every
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: day at three o'clock and singing Live your Life, and
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: my nieces would jump with me. And it was truly
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: an incredible thing to watch your strength. There's nothing quite
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: like it. And I don't know how you did it.
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: And it was just incredible to see this rallying, crying.
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: How you brought together your family, your friends, your community,
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: and then the world, all of these strangers and you
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: know this this year was complicated and hard for people
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: all in different ways to see you right at the
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: beginning of it take such a powerful, optimistic, hopeful, strong
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: stance was just so inspiring and um, I think you,
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: you know, have changed a lot of and affected just
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: a lot of people because of it. And I just, um,
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: I think you're incredible. Thanks Sarah. Yeah, I just want
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: to say. I want to say, like, look, when one
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: of my greatest fears in life is that when I
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: pass away, I won't be I will not have made
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: a mark, and I will not have I will not
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: be remembered for the things that I've done, whether it'd
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: be raising my children, whether it'd be you know, my work,
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: whatever it is. And what was so awesome when Nick
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: was when Nick was in the hospital and everything like that,
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: the way dude was a rock star, you made him
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: a rock star. He had a hit record like all
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: of his It's crazy, like all of his dreams before
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: he passed came true because of you and you're and
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: you're being able to represent him. I always I pray
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: that when you know that these are things, that these
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: are things that we have no control over anything, but
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: everybody wants to be remembered for something, and you made
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: it happen, you know what I mean, everybody knew who
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: he was before he left, and that's something that you
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: know as a performer, and maybe it's me being maybe
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: it's my vanity, whatever it is. You always want to
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: leave a mark, and he was able to leave a
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: mark thanks to you. And I just wanted to I
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: just wanted you know that. I think that's such an
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: amazing uh quality to have as a partner, you know
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: what I mean, Like we always say we're in it
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: together and everything like that, but when the chips are
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: down and everything and it's and and the going gets rough,
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: you know, they write songs about it where you can
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: you stand the rain and uh I I I I
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: know that my wife would do the same for me.
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: But you know, it was just so amazing to see
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: the love that you had for him and what you
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: were willing to do to make sure he was represented.
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: And that's so dope. Well thanks, Donald, I mean, you know,
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: I think honestly, um that you know, that was obviously
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: never not the intention in the beginning of sharing the story,
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: but when as like so many people started following the
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: story and praying for Nick and supporting us, and Nick
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: and his family It kind of just unfolded that way
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: because I wanted people to know who they were supporting,
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: you know what I mean. And Nick couldn't talk right.
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: So I was like, okay, you guys are like I
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: have all these people all over the world singing this
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: man's song. They should know who he is. They got
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: to know some stories about him and us, and like,
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: if you're praying for us every single day, like I
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: want you to know who you're praying for. I want
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: you to understand who we are and who he is
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: and why I love him and why I think he's special.
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: But you know, I will have to say, like I mean,
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: Zach knows. You know. Nick was forty one and he
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: wanted to, you know, have this music career, and we
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: just had a new baby and we moved to LA
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: and we had no money and it was a bit
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: of a struggle and I wasn't necessarily the most supportive wife.
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: And his you know, I want to go on tour
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: in a truck and play cities across America with our
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: baby and two dogs. And I was like, how does that?
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: How does that work? And he's like, you can teach
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: fitness in all the cities and we could live out
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: of a van, and I was like, you know, um,
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: And so I wasn't necessarily the most supportive, but I
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: will say, um, you know, in in this journey and
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: playing his song every day and you know, just making
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: everybody else sing his song. You know, I turned into
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: his biggest fan, which I you know, like I know
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: he knows now, but you know, it just sits it.
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: I'm I'm glad I turned into his biggest fan because
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: he was so talented and he didn't know everything about music.
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: That guy was like he just he knew everything. Well,
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: I was reading the book. I there's so many amazing
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: stories about your romance and fall in love, and I
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: just love the way you structure because this story what
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: happened is quite tragic, but there's so much love and hope.
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: And there's the love of you two falling in love
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: with each other. There's the familial love of you and
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: your siblings rallying them rallying around you. There's the community
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: of love, our friends that that did our best to
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: rally around you. And then because you were so diligent
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: about sharing this story on Instagram and the web, people
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: all around the world. I mean, when you see the
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: Amanda talks about the letters she gets from so many
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: countries around the world, and she would read them to
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: Nick and so many people who just would pray and
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: sing with her and share their love. It was just
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: it was just really heartwarming in a way that at
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: such a horrible time, so many thousands and thousands of
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: people rallied together for you. Yeah, it was It's crazy.
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: I still honestly can't believe it. You know, Instagram archives
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: all of your stories and things, which is how I
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: got a lot of information and back to write down
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: in this book, because this book is so detailed, heavily detailed,
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: and a lot of it was right in my brain
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: just because you know, when you're that into something like this,
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: you just remember the medicines, the doctors. You just it's
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: right there. But I would go back into Instagram archives
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: and watch like all the three PM singings and all
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: of the people that would send their messages from like
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: literally all over the world, and there'd be nights I
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: would cry myself to sleep just being like, how did
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: this happen? How did this? How? You know? It doesn't
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: eat like the story with everything that happened with Nick
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: seems still surreal to me. But even just like that,
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: everything that the rally of the people that supported us
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: just doesn't even still seem real. It's crazy. I like
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: it when the world shows that people are good. Sometimes yeah, no,
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: I think you know what though, Like that's what I
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: think though, was one of the most beautiful takeaways from
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: this pandemic is that for the first time in our
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: lives the world, we were all on the same note.
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: Everybody was doing the exact same thing, everybody, and so
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: it forced us all to just like go back to
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: our roots. And I think innately the roots of humans
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: is just kindness. We want to be kind people, and
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: we and we could be for the first time because
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: all distractions of life were gone and we had nothing
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: else to do. I don't know if I could rally
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: this army now with everybody back in their lives and
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: work and busyness. But at the moment, it's like it
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: was this perfect, weird moment of everybody needing a community,
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: needing something to do. And so I think when I
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: was like three pm, everybody's singing. Everybody was like, it
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: is on the schedule. I have nothing else on the schedule,
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: but I have that three pm. We're saying it, I can't,
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: I can't lie on the couch, and three I have
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: to sing it through. Yes, it was like something to do,
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: and it gave people something to do. And I think
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: also it goes without saying that we had just been
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: told this was only putting old people in the ICU,
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: and so Nick became the face of the fact that
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: this could happen to a forty one year forty one
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: year old UM and that was really terrifying, but also
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: important for people to know, to to land that another
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: thing you might not know. And I'm going to tell
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: our listeners this for the very first time. UM. I
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: have a little cabin um behind my house, UM that
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: I named probably fifteen years ago when I got it
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: brown Bear Cabin after Donald, And no one knows that
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: unless you come here. We just jokingly all call it
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: brown Bear Cabin because as you all know, I love
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: Donald that I'm obsessed with all things Donald, face on him,
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: naming structures after him. Well, that is where Amanda and
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: Nick and Elvis were living when Nick got sick. So
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: one of the most said three words in the whole
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: book is brown Bear Cabin. So Donald, I want you
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: to know that you're a big part of this book
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: game where we lived, we couldn't do, weren't going anywhere else,
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: You didn't. I mean, you know, at this time, we forget,
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: you know how different the world was a year ago.
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: You know, like we're already back into this new world.
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: We forget a year ago. We were afraid to leave
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: our house. We thought groceries had COVID on them. Yeah,
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: you know what I mean. I remember wiping down my
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: groceries with you know, antibacterial wipes and you know, like food,
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: actual food, like literally wiping down tomatoes and apples and
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: stuff like that. Scared that I would I remember going
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: outside and literally treating people like they had the plague,
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: literally like don't come near, don't come near my family,
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: don't caring for the hardest thing for me and a
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: Mando was that I had to I said. As I
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: finished the book, and I said to her, one of
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: the things I said was I I we were just
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: so scared. We didn't know what to do. AMANDU was
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: with We didn't know if a man had it or not. Obviously,
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: and a man is kind of living proof that someone
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: can not get it, because the fact that you never
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: got it is pretty miraculous. I mean, I mean, I
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: don't know. I'm still I know the science is still
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: rolling out, but a man, the fact that Amanda never
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: got it is pretty amazing. And so there were times,
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: some of the hardest times. I can remember watching you
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: cry and I didn't know what to do because I
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: had to stay six feet from her, so I would
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: stand there watching her cry, which I remember. Do you
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: remember the day that Nick? So it was good Friday.
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: Nick died on the table for two minutes. It was
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: the first time that he died, and they resuscitated him
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: and got him back and we're putting him on an ECMO.
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: But there was a moment in time where I did
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: not know if he was going to survive and be
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: put on this machine. So I of course desperately called
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: Zach and our friend Trevor, and they came running down.
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: But they both like and I'm in the cabin obviously,
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: I just got told my husband and died for two minutes.
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: So I'm disastrous on the floor of the cabin. I
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: don't even remember where Elvis was. I was like just
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: I couldn't even focus. And I remember like both you
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: and Trevor like you didn't like you cut you. It
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: was the early days of COVID, like super early. This
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: was like March, you know, end of March, Like we
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: were all terrified. And I just remember, like you could
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: you You didn't even want to walk in the cabin.
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: You didn't know what to do. Probably put masks on, yeh.
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: I sat like on the ground because Amanda was sobbing
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: on the ground and Trevor and I sat six feet
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: from her, um like on the ground with her. And
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: it was one of the hardest things I've ever experienced
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: in my life to not be able to go and
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: hug someone in so much pain. Yeah, I was so crazy. No,
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: I mean, but I could have. I mean, I could
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: have had it, you know what I mean, like I
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: think you know, yeah, I mean, yeah, luckily. I mean
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: that was the weirdest thing though. I mean. Next doctor said,
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: you know there's people in the icy or their whole
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: family have got it, and then there's people like your family,
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: where one person gets in everyone else is completely fine,
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: which was what made it so hard. He said, all
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: the time, it's like the wild world West. We do
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: not know how to how to operate around this virus
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: because it is always different and every crazy thing about
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: Nick that a lot of people don't know, and you'll
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: learn in the book, is that COVID came and did
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: what it did to Nick's body and then left, so
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: all of so much of what happened to Nick, COVID
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: was long gone out of his body. He wasn't even
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: on a COVID floor. But it came in, destroyed his lungs,
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: destroyed his body and his organs, and then was gone.
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: And that's something a lot of people are surprised by
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: that Nick wasn't COVID positive for that long. I remember,
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: I remember, you know what. I also remember, I remember
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: Amanda telling us what was happening to Nick, and then
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: that becoming news two weeks later or a week later,
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: where was like, you know, it does this to your lungs,
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: and then two weeks later the whole thing about how
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: it affects people's respiratory system, how blood clotting could happen,
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: and then two weeks later the blood cloud story. Can
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: I just remember, I remember being like, holy cow, this
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: dude's going through it seemed like he went through all
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: of it, Like every effect that COVID could have on someone,
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: he went through it. And I remember being like I
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: remember being like, this is how is this happening to
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: this one person? How is this one person experiencing all
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: of these symptoms, you know? And you just said, you know,
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: he only had it for a couple of weeks. And
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: then that was it, Like it really took it, really did.
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: I mean, there's a nuclear bomb on his body. I mean,
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: it just nuclear bombed his lungs. They said, what did
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: they say? He looked like he was a smoker for
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: fifty years, orn't yeah, yeah, oh yeah, you guys the
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: first time they showed me his lung scans. I mean,
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: it's the stories in the book. But I came home
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: to the I couldn't even talk and taught and Anna
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: knew something was wrong. And then I broke down and
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: told them what I saw, and I thought for sure
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: Nick would go that day. I was like those who
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: you don't recover, I mean the huge holes in his lungs, huge,
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: like you know. And then but then this is what's crazy,
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: and you'll read about it in the book The Ups
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: and Downs of the ICU. That's one doctor's opinion. And
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: then literally the next morning after a X annex and
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: no sleep that night because I thought no ways, my
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: husband even making another day, I get another phone call
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: from my doctor, who I love, the positive doctor, and
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: he was like, Amanda, God gave us so much more
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: long than we need. He's fine, And I was like, what, like,
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: but like this was the daily literally the daily battle
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: of my life during these times where it was like
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: one doctor says something where you are like preparing for
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: the worst, and then two seconds later they call and go, oh, no, no, no,
- 1:16:59Speaker 1: that are fine. Everything looks good, doing great today. Yeah.
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: One of the frustrating things you'll read about the book
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: is that Amanda had to deal with you know, doctors don't,
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: as we know from the television show Scrubs, doctors don't
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: always agree how to treat someone or what the prognosis is.
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: And there was a roller coaster ride for her. But
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: the flip side of things, man, is this a testament
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: to a lot of amazing healthcare heroes in this book.
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: The nurses that were angels angels angels to Amanda, and
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: the orderlies and the doctors. There's one in particular. Amanda
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: changed most of the names of people, not so not
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: to disturb their privacy, but one doctor is such a hero,
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: was such a hero is such a hero to Amanda
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: that she asked his permission and kept his name because
- 1:17:45Speaker 1: he's He's the kind of doctor we honor on this
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: show and celebrate because he was by your side all
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: the time. Yeah, he's the best. He's now my doctor.
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: When I reached out to him after Nick passed, because
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: I still hadn't found a doctor in LA, I was like, hey,
- 1:18:01Speaker 1: doctor ing, um, I really need a doctor. Probably good
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: for me to just you know, have somebody that I
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: can go to, you know, at any time. And he
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: was like, if you feel okay, It was like, you know,
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: I would happily take you on as a patient. And
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: he was like, I understand if that's weird though, And
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: I was like, actually, no, I have your cell phone,
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: which is amazing, and I can get a hold of
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: you at any moment, and like we went to war together,
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: like we really did. I mean he he says in
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: this book after Nick passes, there's a beautiful moment where
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: we get to kind of chat after a couple of days,
- 1:18:39Speaker 1: and he said to me, he goes, I've talked to
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: you more than my wife in the last three months,
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: so not talking to you for three days felt very weird.
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: How are you? What's the kind of man he is?
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: And he would just text her all the time and
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: and he's such a hero and and and by the way,
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: this is happening to remind us all at the most
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: insane time that's ever happened in this country, all while
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: a pandemics going on at Cedar Sinai, one of the
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: biggest hospitals in La So anyway, I love you, we
- 1:19:12Speaker 1: love you. This is incredible. Um, listeners, I love you too.
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: I'm not just saying this because I love her, I genuinely,
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: if you want to know more about the story, and
- 1:19:23Speaker 1: also if you're someone who's gone through grief and uh
- 1:19:26Speaker 1: and and found a way to stand back up again
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: and uh, it's just it's an incredible piece of work.
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: I think this is going to be a best seller
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: if I could predict. Um. It's called Live Your Life.
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: So it's out. You can get it at your local bookshop.

- 1:21:16Speaker 1: We're gonna ride to ride with Nemo. We're gonna, We're gonna,
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: We're gonna. What else are we gonna do? We do?

- 1:22:06Speaker 1: who loved him, I said, hear the stories. Nets all
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: should know
