- 0:02Speaker 1: I got one question to ask you. Can you do
- 0:05Speaker 1: this thing alone?
- 0:08Speaker 2: I've trained 99% of my life alone.
- 0:12Speaker 1: No one pat me on the back. I did all
- 0:15Speaker 1: of the work alone. You hear me say this all
- 0:19Speaker 1: the time. For some of you, this is it.
- 0:21Speaker 3: Your daddy can't come up here as an alumnus and
- 0:25Speaker 3: get you hooked up with the influential people and get
- 0:27Speaker 3: you back in school.
- 0:28Speaker 1: For some of you, this is it. It doesn't start
- 0:30Speaker 1: with them and they. It starts with me. It starts
- 0:34Speaker 1: with me. Be alone. Go to that dark space. You
- 0:38Speaker 1: may not want to fight that battle, but you need to.
- 0:44Speaker 3: When you train alone, I can take myself to such
- 0:47Speaker 3: a level of real, real passion and purpose.
- 0:53Speaker 1: Nobody's going to feed us. You got to feed yourself.
- 0:56Speaker 1: The feeling I get is something I can't even explain.
- 0:59Speaker 1: I don't need anyone. It's on you. You got to
- 1:03Speaker 1: want it as bad as you want to breathe. Success
- 1:06Speaker 1: starts with you. It's all on you.
- 1:12Speaker 4: If you want to be strong, you got to learn
- 1:15Speaker 4: to fight alone.
- 1:20Speaker 1: And you may not feel qualified. You may not feel
- 1:22Speaker 1: like you are educated enough. You may not feel like
- 1:25Speaker 1: you're connected enough. You may not think.
- 1:27Speaker 5: That enough people are aware of you, cognizant of you,
- 1:31Speaker 5: because you don't have a blue check and you're not
- 1:33Speaker 5: a celebrity yet.
- 1:34Speaker 6: But you got to work hard and challenge. You got
- 1:37Speaker 6: to work when nobody's watching. You got to sacrifice behind
- 1:39Speaker 6: the scenes. What did God put in you? Release it
- 1:44Speaker 6: to the world.
- 1:46Speaker 7: Day in and day out, you got to keep on working.
- 1:49Speaker 1: And if you get knocked down, so what? Rise up! Yes,
- 1:56Speaker 1: you're tired. Yes, your mind is saying give up. Yes,
- 1:59Speaker 1: it's saying quit.
- 2:00Speaker 8: But you cannot quit because you realize you have not reached.
- 2:03Speaker 1: The goal yet.
- 2:04Speaker 3: But what you cannot do is you cannot quit doing
- 2:08Speaker 3: the process. You cannot give up because it ain't what
- 2:11Speaker 3: you see.
- 2:11Speaker 1: You cannot give up.
- 2:14Speaker 3: Champions keep going when they don't have anything left in
- 2:18Speaker 3: their tank.
- 2:21Speaker 1: If it's going to be personal, make it personal. Don't
- 2:24Speaker 1: just be great in public, be great in private.
- 2:26Speaker 9: If you can see it in your head, you can
- 2:29Speaker 9: hold it in your hands. But the question I'm going
- 2:31Speaker 9: to ask you is, are you committed?
- 2:36Speaker 3: Day after day after day, grind after grind after grind,
- 2:41Speaker 3: I can't quit. I can't stop. I can't get tired.
- 2:44Speaker 3: I can't give up. I can't give in.
- 2:47Speaker 8: Nobody's going to believe in you until you've already done it.
- 2:51Speaker 8: Nobody's going to come and celebrate with you until you've
- 2:53Speaker 8: already done it. Which means you're going to have to
- 2:55Speaker 8: work for a long time by yourself with no applause,
- 2:59Speaker 8: with no awards. No one's going to believe in you
- 3:01Speaker 8: in the beginning.
- 3:02Speaker 1: Nor should they. Be okay with it. If I have
- 3:10Speaker 1: to do it alone I will. Start alone, but get started.
- 3:29Speaker 10: Every single day you are either losing ground or gaining ground.
- 3:34Speaker 7: The choice is yours. This time, make it personal. If
- 3:41Speaker 7: you can make it personal, it's personal. It doesn't start.
- 3:46Speaker 1: With them and they. It starts with me. It starts
- 3:49Speaker 1: with me. I don't know who I'm talking to.
- 3:52Speaker 11: I don't know what you've been called to do, what
- 3:54Speaker 11: you've been called to accomplish, what you've been destined to build.
- 3:59Speaker 11: I'm just wondering if you are bold enough, daring enough,
- 4:02Speaker 11: if you can believe in your dream again, if you
- 4:04Speaker 11: can get committed.
- 4:06Speaker 1: See, when you get personal, when you make it personal,
- 4:09Speaker 1: everything changes.
- 4:12Speaker 6: I'm talking to that athlete. I'm talking to that musician.
- 4:15Speaker 6: Come on, who are you out there?
- 4:18Speaker 9: That philosopher, that engineer, that thought leader, that critical thinker.
- 4:22Speaker 9: Come on, that captain of industry.
- 4:24Speaker 10: I'm talking to you when your personal life.
- 4:27Speaker 1: Lines up with your purpose. Get public authority towards. You
- 4:34Speaker 1: want influence? I'm not talking about just fame.
- 4:37Speaker 9: I'm talking about influence, the power to change people's lives.
- 4:42Speaker 1: Everybody wants public authority, but.
- 4:44Speaker 9: Nobody wants private discipline. When your habits change behind the scenes,
- 4:50Speaker 9: when your private life begins to shift, when you put
- 4:53Speaker 9: aside the things that are not serving you, where's your.
- 4:56Speaker 1: Integrity behind the scenes? Come on, where are your values
- 4:59Speaker 1: behind the scenes? What do your habits look like behind
- 5:02Speaker 1: the scenes?
- 5:03Speaker 5: Come on, what kind of work are you putting in
- 5:05Speaker 5: behind the scenes?
- 5:06Speaker 1: Come on, write it again. Come on, believe it again.
- 5:09Speaker 1: Come on, sing again. Record the song again. Come on.
- 5:12Speaker 1: It starts with where you are and where you're going.
- 5:14Speaker 1: Can you look ahead? Can you stretch forth? Can you
- 5:17Speaker 1: condition yourself? Can you prepare yourself for the next thing?
- 5:20Speaker 3: Come on.
- 5:21Speaker 11: What did God put in you?
- 5:23Speaker 1: Release it to the world. If it's going to be personal,
- 5:31Speaker 1: make it personal. Don't just be great in public, be
- 5:34Speaker 1: great in private.
- 5:36Speaker 9: If you can see it in your head, you can
- 5:38Speaker 9: hold it in your hands.
- 5:40Speaker 6: But the question I want to ask you is, Are
- 5:42Speaker 6: you committed?
- 5:49Speaker 1: Can you identify? What has kept you broken? What has
- 5:54Speaker 1: kept you broke? What has kept you defeated?
- 5:57Speaker 5: What has kept you covered under the blankets of anxiety
- 6:01Speaker 5: and stress and overwhelm? But you're trying to make business
- 6:05Speaker 5: moves with people that don't think like you.
- 6:07Speaker 1: They don't walk like you. They don't sacrifice like you.
- 6:11Speaker 12: They're not willing to put in the blood, the sweat,
- 6:13Speaker 12: the tears behind closed doors.
- 6:15Speaker 1: A man is rewarded in public for what he does
- 6:19Speaker 1: in private.
- 6:21Speaker 12: I need you to disappear for the next 30 days.
- 6:25Speaker 12: What does that look like?
- 6:27Speaker 5: 720 hours dedicated to the future.
- 6:31Speaker 12: I need you to disappear for 30 days. Just 30 days.
- 6:35Speaker 12: Can you walk away for 30 days? Can you silence
- 6:39Speaker 12: the doubters for 30 days?
- 6:41Speaker 1: Can you tell everybody.
- 6:42Speaker 12: To be quiet for 30 days so you can focus
- 6:44Speaker 12: on me?
- 6:46Speaker 1: Who you are today has gotten you as far as
- 6:50Speaker 1: you're going to get.
- 6:51Speaker 5: If you're going to get any further, you've got to
- 6:54Speaker 5: reinvent yourself.
- 6:55Speaker 1: And if you're going to reinvent yourself, you've got to
- 6:58Speaker 1: set it down for 30 days. I need you to
- 7:01Speaker 1: pursue it. I need you to go get it, all right?
- 7:03Speaker 3: I need you to go get it.
- 7:04Speaker 1: Don't wait for it to come to you, all right?
- 7:06Speaker 3: Greatness is not going to come knock on your door.
- 7:08Speaker 3: There's some opportunity that's not going to come knock on
- 7:10Speaker 3: your door.
- 7:10Speaker 1: You've got to go get them.
- 7:13Speaker 3: Without even knowing you, if you're watching me, you already
- 7:15Speaker 3: know you've got something within that you wanted. I already
- 7:19Speaker 3: know that. Because I already know you can. But my
- 7:22Speaker 3: question to you young people this summer, will you? I
- 7:25Speaker 3: already know what you're capable of doing, but my question is,
- 7:28Speaker 3: will you reach your potential?
- 7:30Speaker 12: You've been too focused on who was not there for
- 7:32Speaker 12: you and who did not believe in you and the
- 7:35Speaker 12: people that just said it but didn't do it.
- 7:38Speaker 1: You've been too focused on that. The trauma, the anxiety.
- 7:42Speaker 12: And I'm wondering if you can begin to shift that
- 7:44Speaker 12: focus in the next 30 days.
- 7:45Speaker 1: If you can begin to shift that focus on what's
- 7:48Speaker 1: working in your life.
- 7:50Speaker 5: What's within your control and not what's outside of your control.
- 7:53Speaker 1: What can you control? Who can you influence?
- 7:56Speaker 5: The first person that needs to be influenced in your
- 7:59Speaker 5: life is you.
- 8:00Speaker 3: It's you.
- 8:03Speaker 1: You can't lead anybody.
- 8:05Speaker 5: You can't go anywhere unless you have awakened yourself on
- 8:09Speaker 5: the inside to follow a specific plan.
- 8:11Speaker 1: Write it out.
- 8:12Speaker 5: I need you to disappear for 30 days.
- 8:18Speaker 1: Listen to me very closely. It is no shame in
- 8:22Speaker 1: wanting to quit. All right. No shame in wanting to quit.
- 8:25Speaker 1: Let me just real quick. Let me be honest with you.
- 8:26Speaker 1: Let me be transparent with you.
- 8:28Speaker 3: I'm saying this stuff, this school stuff is killing me. Like,
- 8:31Speaker 3: it's cramping my style. And I just, for a second, y'all,
- 8:34Speaker 3: can I just be transparent? I was like, I can't
- 8:37Speaker 3: stand school right now. I got one more stats class
- 8:40Speaker 3: to go to be finished with my coursework for the PhD.
- 8:43Speaker 3: And I'm telling y'all, I was like, I'm ready to quit.
- 8:45Speaker 3: I'm ready to give up. It ain't no shame in
- 8:48Speaker 3: thinking about quitting. It ain't no shame. It ain't no
- 8:50Speaker 3: shame in getting tired. It's no shame in feeling burnt out.
- 8:54Speaker 3: It's no shame. But the trick is don't just think
- 8:58Speaker 3: about it. Say to yourself, I got to rethink it
- 9:01Speaker 3: and get this thought out of my mind.
- 9:03Speaker 1: Why?
- 9:03Speaker 3: Because the shame is in quitting. So if you thought
- 9:06Speaker 3: about it, ain't nothing wrong with that boo. Don't let
- 9:09Speaker 3: that thought become a reality.
- 9:10Speaker 1: All right. Three words for you. Shut it down.
- 9:17Speaker 5: We cannot have the future without revelation. We need to
- 9:23Speaker 5: see how far we are from where.
- 9:27Speaker 1: We're supposed to be.
- 9:29Speaker 5: Once you shut it down, you'll be able to diagnose.
- 9:33Speaker 5: You'll be able to examine. You'll be able to repair
- 9:37Speaker 5: the roads. You still keep trying to walk into your
- 9:40Speaker 5: future fractured, broken, hurting. You need to walk into your
- 9:44Speaker 5: future whole.
- 9:46Speaker 1: You can decide the quality of your life, all right?
- 9:49Speaker 1: Listen to me.
- 9:50Speaker 3: You are not a victim. Okay, nope, I can't decide
- 9:53Speaker 3: how I was born. Nope, I can't say when I die.
- 9:56Speaker 3: What you can do is you can control all that
- 9:58Speaker 3: stuff in between.
- 10:17Speaker 13: You're standing at the precipice, the edge of the
- 10:20Speaker 13: greatest move in your life and the time is now
- 10:24Speaker 13: like never.
- 10:25Speaker 10: Before to take a leap of faith. It takes faith
- 10:30Speaker 10: to jump off of the edge. It takes faith to
- 10:33Speaker 10: step into your purpose. It takes faith to step into
- 10:36Speaker 10: your destiny.
- 10:37Speaker 5: It takes faith to pull away from everything that is familiar,
- 10:41Speaker 5: to step into uncharted territory, to become the.
- 10:45Speaker 1: Person you were born to be. It takes faith. Can
- 10:48Speaker 1: you disappear for 30 days? Put in the work. Examine
- 10:52Speaker 1: what you've written. Think over the things you've discussed with people.
- 10:57Speaker 1: Go through the process. Go through the mud. Inhale. Exhale.
- 11:04Speaker 12: I know it's cold on the other side, but it's
- 11:08Speaker 12: time for you to cross.
- 11:09Speaker 1: Over because you're too comfortable.
- 11:15Speaker 14: What is preventing most people from moving in the direction
- 11:19Speaker 14: that they want to move is a lack of discipline.
- 11:24Speaker 1: And no one wants to hear that answer.
- 11:25Speaker 14: It's the harshest answer.
- 11:27Speaker 1: This is hard work, it's every day.
- 11:30Speaker 14: When they see that word discipline, it's actually a slap
- 11:32Speaker 14: in the face because they know it's true.
- 11:34Speaker 3: If any fraction of self-discipline, the ability to not want
- 11:38Speaker 3: to do it but still do it, that's the most
- 11:41Speaker 3: powerful thing in the world.
- 11:42Speaker 14: What are you gonna get without discipline? Are you gonna
- 11:44Speaker 14: be in good physical shape without discipline? Are you gonna
- 11:47Speaker 14: be financially successful without discipline? Are you gonna become more
- 11:52Speaker 14: intellectually powerful without discipline?
- 11:55Speaker 3: You're going to see me for who I am because
- 11:58Speaker 3: I need to change who I'm not.
- 12:02Speaker 14: Discipline is the root of all good qualities. If you
- 12:05Speaker 14: want to make progress in your life, you've got to
- 12:07Speaker 14: have discipline. Discipline equals freedom. You want freedom in your life?
- 12:12Speaker 15: You want to achieve what it is you want to achieve?
- 12:15Speaker 1: How do you do that? You do it through discipline.
- 12:17Speaker 1: You do it through hard work. You do it by
- 12:19Speaker 1: knowing what it is you're supposed to do and then
- 12:22Speaker 1: actually doing it.
- 12:25Speaker 9: You have to face yourself.
- 12:27Speaker 3: What am I going to do today to change what
- 12:30Speaker 3: I see in this mirror?
- 12:32Speaker 1: It starts with yourself, man.
- 12:33Speaker 6: Through hard work, you can outwork anybody.
- 12:37Speaker 1: Like I'm going to be extreme in my discipline. Somebody
- 12:40Speaker 1: asked me that on social media. How do you master discipline?
- 12:42Speaker 3: I'm like, you don't.
- 12:43Speaker 1: You don't.
- 12:44Speaker 2: You keep working at it though.
- 12:45Speaker 1: Every day.
- 12:45Speaker 3: Yes.
- 12:47Speaker 1: It takes power. It takes effort, it takes discipline to
- 12:51Speaker 1: break the old you.
- 12:53Speaker 9: What gives you confidence not being afraid is overcoming the fear.
- 12:58Speaker 1: There's no one in the world that enjoys taking criticism.
- 13:02Speaker 2: It's in the discomfort zone is where my confidence is
- 13:05Speaker 2: getting built.
- 13:06Speaker 14: The tougher things you go through, the more confidence you're
- 13:08Speaker 14: going to have, the more confidence you.
- 13:10Speaker 1: Have, the better you're going to get. But I'm going
- 13:12Speaker 1: to work and try and make myself better. And that's
- 13:14Speaker 1: the mentality you have.
- 13:15Speaker 4: A lot of us who are afraid of something We
- 13:18Speaker 4: allow our minds to choose the path of least resistance
- 13:20Speaker 4: so we go a different route.
- 13:23Speaker 1: What I did was what I knew how to do,
- 13:25Speaker 1: which was work. You figure it out by going inside yourself.
- 13:31Speaker 1: Because being a warrior takes a whole different mindset. That's
- 13:35Speaker 1: what I'm going to do. You have time.
- 13:45Speaker 3: You have the knowledge and the willpower and the discipline
- 13:50Speaker 3: to get it done.
- 13:52Speaker 4: Your heart, your life, your happiness is your responsibility and
- 13:58Speaker 4: your responsibility alone.
- 14:01Speaker 3: One day you're going to realize your life is yours
- 14:04Speaker 3: and there's a lot of people important to you that
- 14:07Speaker 3: surround it, but ultimately it's yours.
- 14:09Speaker 16: Then you must decide where you want to invest this life.
- 14:14Speaker 1: Invest in something worthwhile. You have to picture yourself there.
- 14:19Speaker 1: Wherever it is, you've got to picture yourself there. The
- 14:23Speaker 1: next step is you've got to believe it.
- 14:26Speaker 16: Number one in your life's blueprint should be a deep
- 14:33Speaker 16: belief in your own dignity, your own worth, and your
- 14:40Speaker 16: own somebody-ness. Don't allow anybody to make you feel that
- 14:47Speaker 16: you are nobody.
- 14:52Speaker 1: See, sometimes we can't say, I can do that.
- 14:56Speaker 17: But what we can say, that it's possible that I
- 15:00Speaker 17: can have my dream as we run toward it, as.
- 15:04Speaker 15: We work on it day in and day out.
- 15:09Speaker 14: They were going to make a change and then they made.
- 15:15Speaker 3: It.
- 15:15Speaker 1: This is your moment. It's not tomorrow. It's not next year.
- 15:21Speaker 1: It's not when you're going to graduate. It's right here,
- 15:24Speaker 1: right now. And every choice you make, you're impacting that thing.
- 15:29Speaker 1: We're going to be lying. You know, when a lion
- 15:32Speaker 1: is injured, when a lion is bleeding, he licks his
- 15:36Speaker 1: wounds and he keeps walking.
- 15:39Speaker 3: Your time is one of the most powerful tools you
- 15:44Speaker 3: will ever have.
- 15:48Speaker 1: Let hold up! Let hold up!
- 15:50Speaker 3: And when that thing tells you to quit, you look
- 15:53Speaker 3: at it in his eyes and.
- 15:54Speaker 1: Say, I ain't going nowhere.
- 15:55Speaker 3: I will break you before you break me.
- 15:58Speaker 1: You will be like a shark. You will think like
- 16:00Speaker 1: a shark. You can't go backwards. If you stop swimming,
- 16:03Speaker 1: you will die.
- 16:05Speaker 15: If life knocks you down, try and land on your back.
- 16:08Speaker 16: Because if you can look up, you can get up.
- 16:11Speaker 1: This is the year of the word. Act like you
- 16:13Speaker 1: hear me. This is the year of the word. This
- 16:15Speaker 1: is the year of the word. Act like it.
- 16:17Speaker 3: The moment and the time for you to change your
- 16:20Speaker 3: life is now.
- 16:25Speaker 16: Always feel that you count. Always feel that you have worth.
- 16:34Speaker 16: And always feel that your life has ultimate significance.
- 16:42Speaker 3: You choose what you're looking for because what you look for,
- 16:46Speaker 3: you find. That's how life works.
- 16:49Speaker 1: Make good choices, great things happen. But you've got to
- 16:53Speaker 1: believe in you. So believe. Keep your eyes on the prize.
- 17:04Speaker 3: That's right, stay locked in and focus on the goal.
- 17:09Speaker 3: You gotta block everything out. Hear what I'm telling you.
- 17:13Speaker 3: You gotta block everything out. You gotta be willing to
- 17:15Speaker 3: block out the pain. You gotta be willing to block
- 17:17Speaker 3: out the disappointment. You gotta be willing to block it
- 17:20Speaker 3: all out and keep your eyes on the prize. I
- 17:25Speaker 3: don't know, ask yourself the question, what do you want?
- 17:27Speaker 3: I can't answer that for you.
- 17:28Speaker 1: What do you want?
- 17:29Speaker 3: Is it a degree? You want a better marriage? You
- 17:32Speaker 3: want to make the team? You want a better GPA?
- 17:35Speaker 3: I'm not really sure, but ask yourself the question, what
- 17:38Speaker 3: is it you want?
- 17:40Speaker 1: Then after you ask yourself the question, what do you want?
- 17:42Speaker 1: You got to ask.
- 17:43Speaker 3: Yourself this, are you willing to pay the price? That's right,
- 17:50Speaker 3: you got to block out all the negative people. You
- 17:53Speaker 3: got to block out every single obstacle and you got
- 17:56Speaker 3: to keep your eyes on the prize.
- 17:59Speaker 1: You got to stay focused.
- 18:02Speaker 3: In the words of the great Wayne Buckner, he said,
- 18:04Speaker 3: if it was easy, everybody would do it. You heard
- 18:08Speaker 3: exactly what I said. If it was easy to have
- 18:10Speaker 3: a great marriage, everybody would do it. If it was
- 18:12Speaker 3: easy to get your master's, get your PhD, everybody.
- 18:16Speaker 1: Would do it.
- 18:16Speaker 3: If it was easy to get a 4.0 in every class,
- 18:19Speaker 3: everybody would do it. So number one, If you want
- 18:23Speaker 3: to get past the pain, if you want to get
- 18:26Speaker 3: past the disappointments, if you want to get to your goal,
- 18:29Speaker 3: you've got to stay locked in. You've got to keep
- 18:33Speaker 3: your eyes on the prize. You've got to be focused.
- 18:38Speaker 3: I need you to learn to focus on the next
- 18:42Speaker 3: 24 hours and.
- 18:43Speaker 1: No more because I'm going to tell you what happens.
- 18:45Speaker 3: When you start thinking about a week, when you start
- 18:47Speaker 3: thinking about a month, when you start thinking about what you're.
- 18:49Speaker 1: Going to do next year, man, you get overwhelmed. I
- 18:52Speaker 1: need you to do me a huge favor, and I
- 18:54Speaker 1: need you.
- 18:54Speaker 3: To learn to stay locked in on a 24-hour time frame.
- 18:59Speaker 1: Nothing less and nothing more.
- 19:01Speaker 3: That's right. Take it one day at a time. Take
- 19:06Speaker 3: it one day at a time. You heard what I said,
- 19:09Speaker 3: 24 hours. And if you can learn a 24-hour principle,
- 19:12Speaker 3: if you can learn to take it one day at
- 19:14Speaker 3: a time, I guarantee you'll never get overwhelmed.
- 19:18Speaker 1: Stop worrying about next semester, right?
- 19:20Speaker 3: Stop worrying about the semester after that. Listen to me,
- 19:23Speaker 3: you focus on today. Focus on today. And if you
- 19:28Speaker 3: can focus on those 24 hours, you can realize it
- 19:30Speaker 3: is manageable. And once you understand it is manageable and
- 19:33Speaker 3: that it's doable, you're going to be all right. take
- 19:38Speaker 3: full responsibility of your actions and your responses. I'm not
- 19:45Speaker 3: telling you to take responsibility for the things that happen
- 19:49Speaker 3: that you don't have any control of.
- 19:51Speaker 1: That's not what I'm asking you to do. But what
- 19:53Speaker 1: I am saying is that the part of the.
- 19:55Speaker 3: Problem that has your name written on it, take full
- 19:59Speaker 3: responsibility for that part. There are some things in life
- 20:02Speaker 3: you can't do anything about. You can't do anything.
- 20:04Speaker 1: About the fact that the boss doesn't like you.
- 20:07Speaker 3: You can't do a thing about it if your teacher
- 20:09Speaker 3: doesn't like you, right? But I'm telling you today, if
- 20:12Speaker 3: you don't like your physical look, if you don't feel
- 20:15Speaker 3: good about who you are, boo, get some gym shoes,
- 20:19Speaker 3: tie your laces, and.
- 20:21Speaker 1: Get to running. So get rid of that book bag mentality.
- 20:25Speaker 1: Stop giving up before the end. Learn all you can.
- 20:29Speaker 1: Stop going from one thing to the next. Hear what
- 20:32Speaker 1: I'm saying? Stop trying to overcome before you become.
- 20:38Speaker 3: That's the problem with some of you. You always want
- 20:40Speaker 3: to blame other people. You always want to hold other
- 20:43Speaker 3: people to the fire, but you're not holding yourself to
- 20:45Speaker 3: the fire. You just said you're giving 50%. You owe
- 20:48Speaker 3: you an explanation. You owe you an explanation. You need
- 20:51Speaker 3: to look at yourself in the mirror and say, why
- 20:54Speaker 3: are you only giving 50%?
- 20:55Speaker 1: What's wrong with you? You need to put yourself on punishment.
- 20:59Speaker 3: You need to tell you, no more TV, no more snacks,
- 21:02Speaker 3: no more desserts, no more, no, we working out now. Not, no,
- 21:06Speaker 3: I can't handle it right now. You need to tell
- 21:08Speaker 3: you that you owe you something. And if you create
- 21:11Speaker 3: a culture of losing, if you keep being a victim,
- 21:15Speaker 3: if you keep letting losing happen to you, if you
- 21:17Speaker 3: keep letting people do you and treat you any kind
- 21:19Speaker 3: of way, it's going to become a culture.
- 21:37Speaker 1: The dream will destroy you. Let it. All men are
- 21:42Speaker 1: created equal. Some work hard in preseason. When I went
- 21:44Speaker 1: to college, guys were way smarter than me. 4.0s, 3.0s.
- 21:47Speaker 3: They went to the Ivy League high schools, came to
- 21:50Speaker 3: Oakwood from these great high schools.
- 21:52Speaker 1: Most of them are not doing what I'm doing. Why?
- 21:54Speaker 1: Because it's not about where you come from. It's about heart.
- 21:58Speaker 2: You've got to let your dream destroy you. You've got
- 22:01Speaker 2: to give everything you've got. No excuses.
- 22:06Speaker 1: This is your opportunity to blow up.
- 22:08Speaker 2: If you really want your dream bad enough, if you
- 22:12Speaker 2: really want to go where you say you want to go,
- 22:14Speaker 2: if you really want to do what you say you
- 22:16Speaker 2: want to do, you have to let your dream destroy you.
- 22:20Speaker 2: You have to let your dream break you down because
- 22:24Speaker 2: that's the only way that you're going to be built
- 22:26Speaker 2: back up.
- 22:28Speaker 3: The version of you that you are right now is
- 22:30Speaker 3: a blessing, but it won't take you to the next level.
- 22:32Speaker 1: What got you here won't take you there.
- 22:35Speaker 3: So let the dream destroy you, tear you down, redefine you,
- 22:39Speaker 3: build you back up, make you stronger. The first version
- 22:44Speaker 3: of Eric Thomas would never be able to stand in
- 22:46Speaker 3: front of you guys. The first version of Eric Thomas,
- 22:49Speaker 3: the high school dropout, that guy would have never been
- 22:51Speaker 3: able to stand here and help you. I had to
- 22:54Speaker 3: destroy that Eric Thomas.
- 22:56Speaker 1: See, your problem is you talk a good game.
- 23:00Speaker 2: But at the first sign of adversity, at the first
- 23:03Speaker 2: sign of a setback, at the first sign of a hiccup,
- 23:06Speaker 2: at the first sign of something not going the way
- 23:08Speaker 2: you thought it should go, you quit.
- 23:11Speaker 3: Let the dream destroy you.
- 23:13Speaker 1: Let it strip you. Let it remake and mold you.
- 23:17Speaker 1: Don't be afraid.
- 23:18Speaker 2: Pain is what's going to lead to that future gain.
- 23:22Speaker 2: You got to let your dream destroy you. You got
- 23:25Speaker 2: to give everything you got. to be able at any.
- 23:28Speaker 3: Moment to sacrifice what we are for what.
- 23:32Speaker 1: We could be. I don't do well in math. You're right.
- 23:35Speaker 1: You ain't never studied.
- 23:37Speaker 3: I'm not good in writing because you have never written before.
- 23:41Speaker 3: But I dare you to fail in writing for a
- 23:42Speaker 3: whole year to see if you can get to the end.
- 23:45Speaker 1: I dare you to fail.
- 23:46Speaker 3: I dare you to take that same class over and
- 23:48Speaker 3: over again.
- 23:48Speaker 1: I dare you to stop dropping classes like you saw.
- 23:52Speaker 3: Will the real Eric Thomas please stand up? Stop being
- 23:56Speaker 3: this high school dropout. Stop giving up. Stop sleeping on
- 23:59Speaker 3: the streets and get your GED. Stop being afraid to
- 24:02Speaker 3: take a test. Stop being afraid to go to college
- 24:10Speaker 3: because your daddy didn't go and your mama didn't go.
- 24:13Speaker 3: Stop being afraid and be the best Eric Thomas you
- 24:16Speaker 3: can be. But listen to me, it's going to be hard.
- 24:18Speaker 3: It took me 12 years to get a four-year degree,
- 24:20Speaker 3: but I got it. And guess what? On a degree,
- 24:22Speaker 3: it don't have dates. So if it took you four
- 24:25Speaker 3: and it took me 12, it don't show up nowhere.
- 24:30Speaker 3: I need you to study like you've never studied before.
- 24:31Speaker 2: I need you up all night long.
- 24:34Speaker 3: Studying getting about three four hours here hour and a
- 24:36Speaker 3: half here two hours here You hear me say this
- 24:39Speaker 3: all the time, but some of you this is it
- 24:42Speaker 3: And even you say Eric look man, you understand if
- 24:44Speaker 3: I put everything and I'm still gonna get a 1.0
- 24:47Speaker 3: I'm telling you to do it anyway Because you know,
- 24:50Speaker 3: I told up flunk English three times like when I
- 24:52Speaker 3: was in college right lucky the first time And I
- 24:55Speaker 3: quit when they told me I couldn't pass the second time.
- 24:57Speaker 3: She told me you're gonna flunk I stayed in there
- 24:59Speaker 3: anyway And guess what? As stupid as this might.
- 25:02Speaker 1: Sound, even though you flunk, you learn a new concept, right?
- 25:06Speaker 3: So that's one or two less concepts I got to
- 25:08Speaker 3: learn the next year, right? And finally, that third time,
- 25:12Speaker 3: I clipped it, which means you just take a test.
- 25:14Speaker 4: And I took the test and I passed it.
- 25:17Speaker 1: You don't get it.
- 25:18Speaker 2: You have to give everything you got to get what
- 25:21Speaker 2: you want. You have to give everything you don't even
- 25:24Speaker 2: realize you have to get where you're trying to go.
- 25:29Speaker 2: Don't you get it? When you do what they want,
- 25:32Speaker 2: you will have what they don't. When you do what
- 25:34Speaker 2: they refuse, they won't have the options that you get
- 25:37Speaker 2: to choose. Because those are reserved for those who choose
- 25:41Speaker 2: to move when others choose to stand still. Those are
- 25:45Speaker 2: reserved for those that choose to get up when so
- 25:48Speaker 2: many others couldn't find the strength to lift up and
- 25:51Speaker 2: give more. And when you get to the point where
- 25:55Speaker 2: all you want to do is be successful as bad
- 25:58Speaker 2: as you want to breathe, then you'll be successful. And
- 26:01Speaker 2: I'm here to tell you, number one, that most of
- 26:03Speaker 2: you say you want to be.
- 26:04Speaker 1: Successful, but you don't want it bad. You just kind
- 26:07Speaker 1: of want it. You don't want it bad and you
- 26:09Speaker 1: want to party. You don't want it as much as
- 26:11Speaker 1: you want to be cool.
- 26:12Speaker 3: Most of you don't want success as much as you
- 26:14Speaker 3: want to sleep. Some of you, you can make sacrifices
- 26:18Speaker 3: when Monday Night Football is not on. You can make
- 26:20Speaker 3: a sacrifice, but when the game come on, for some reason,
- 26:23Speaker 3: you just attach to it. You can make sacrifices on
- 26:27Speaker 3: Sunday when ain't nothing going on. But when your favorite
- 26:30Speaker 3: show comes on Monday, bam, some of you, you focus
- 26:32Speaker 3: into the phone ring, and then you like, I gotta
- 26:34Speaker 3: answer it. If I don't answer the phone, I'm gonna die.
- 26:38Speaker 3: I'm saying to you today that there are some of you,
- 26:40Speaker 3: if you give up your cell phone, you would be successful.
- 26:44Speaker 3: But your cell phone is more important to you than
- 26:46Speaker 3: your success. You have to give it everything you got.
- 26:50Speaker 3: No more TV, no more parties, no more playing. If
- 26:53Speaker 3: you have a 4.0, what you need.
- 26:55Speaker 1: To be doing is studying. Get off the phone.
- 26:58Speaker 3: I'm sorry, I'm not available until the end of this year.
- 27:03Speaker 1: No, I'm for real.
- 27:04Speaker 3: You've reached the right number, but you called me at
- 27:06Speaker 3: the wrong time. Call me back January 1st. I'm about
- 27:12Speaker 3: to get busy now.
- 27:18Speaker 15: Not only is it possible for you to have your.
- 27:20Speaker 1: Dream and it's necessary for you to challenge.
- 27:23Speaker 15: Yourself to go after it and get better and leverage
- 27:26Speaker 15: the relationships that can help you get to where you
- 27:28Speaker 15: want to go, but it's you. The major key to
- 27:35Speaker 15: your reaching your dream, your living up to your greatness,
- 27:38Speaker 15: your making your contribution.
- 27:41Speaker 1: Is you.
- 27:45Speaker 5: You went through all of the struggles, all of the challenges,
- 27:49Speaker 5: but you made it.
- 27:51Speaker 1: And here you are. The work needs to be done.
- 27:56Speaker 18: If it's going to happen, you're going to have to
- 27:59Speaker 18: eliminate excuses. It is possible to fully commit yourself to something.
- 28:05Speaker 18: It is possible to accomplish what you see in your head.
- 28:09Speaker 18: The question is, can you give your all?
- 28:14Speaker 8: You need to shut down all negativity. Believe in everything
- 28:18Speaker 8: that you are and understand that within you there's.
- 28:21Speaker 1: Something greater than any obstacle you'll ever face.
- 28:24Speaker 9: Whatever situations that you had to endure.
- 28:27Speaker 1: Last year, leave it there. It has nothing to do
- 28:32Speaker 1: with what's coming right now.
- 28:36Speaker 5: Because if you don't feel this fire, then it's not
- 28:39Speaker 5: a dream. If you don't get up When the count
- 28:44Speaker 5: is at nine, you're wanting enough. If you can hear
- 28:48Speaker 5: my voice, you've got work to do. You've got a
- 28:52Speaker 5: destiny to fulfill. You've got a purpose to walk into.
- 28:57Speaker 5: You've got a test to pass.
- 28:59Speaker 3: You're about to be given a second chance at greatness,
- 29:03Speaker 3: a fresh start. We need to change.
- 29:07Speaker 1: That internal dialogue.
- 29:08Speaker 3: It's time to step into the shoes you were meant
- 29:12Speaker 3: to wear.
- 29:13Speaker 15: What people think about you and the possibilities for your
- 29:16Speaker 15: dream is.
- 29:17Speaker 1: None of your business. That's their business.
- 29:22Speaker 3: They have no imagination, ladies and gentlemen.
- 29:24Speaker 1: They're living out of the past, out of their memory.
- 29:28Speaker 15: The attitude is it can't be done because they haven't
- 29:31Speaker 15: seen it.
- 29:32Speaker 1: They're judging according to appearances. The people that are going
- 29:36Speaker 1: to make it in the future, the people that are.
- 29:38Speaker 15: Making it today, let me share something with you. History
- 29:41Speaker 15: is being read, but it's also being written by people
- 29:45Speaker 15: with imagination.
- 29:49Speaker 1: This is your life, my friend. And I'm sure when
- 29:51Speaker 1: it's all said and done, you don't want to look
- 29:54Speaker 1: back and see that you wasted it. This is your life,
- 29:57Speaker 1: my friend. So you stand up. This is your life,
- 30:00Speaker 1: my friend. So you rise up. This is your life,
- 30:03Speaker 1: my friend. So you keep going. This is your life,
- 30:06Speaker 1: my friend. So you never give up. This is your life,
- 30:10Speaker 1: my friend. You need to keep going.
- 30:17Speaker 3: You have the option to choose. Are you going to
- 30:20Speaker 3: let the pain of your past define your reality right now?
- 30:25Speaker 3: That's your choice that you make every day. Is what
- 30:28Speaker 3: happened to you when you was eight years old going
- 30:30Speaker 3: to define the person that you are today or are
- 30:33Speaker 3: you this person who you choose? Are you in control
- 30:36Speaker 3: of your life? You're going to let pain that happened
- 30:40Speaker 3: six years ago mess up your mood today in real life.
- 30:46Speaker 4: The only thing that's real about your journey is the
- 30:49Speaker 4: step that you take right now.
- 30:53Speaker 12: If you don't apply what you hear, you won't get
- 30:56Speaker 12: what you want.
- 30:58Speaker 5: Life doesn't get any easier. It doesn't get more forgiving.
- 31:04Speaker 5: We just get stronger and we get more resilient.
- 31:08Speaker 1: You are going to incur a lot of.
- 31:10Speaker 17: Disappointment, a lot of failure, a lot of setbacks, a
- 31:16Speaker 17: lot of defeats. But in the process of doing that,
- 31:20Speaker 17: You will discover some things about yourself that you don't
- 31:23Speaker 17: know right now.
- 31:26Speaker 3: And when you figure that out, you'll learn like the
- 31:29Speaker 3: world is off the chain. Opportunities are endless, but you
- 31:33Speaker 3: can't get them looking in your rear view or your future.
- 31:35Speaker 1: Going to look just like your past.
- 31:38Speaker 15: Yeah, so you're here because you're different, you're uncommon. One
- 31:41Speaker 15: man said, I choose not to be a common man.
- 31:43Speaker 15: It's my right to be uncommon if I can't.
- 31:48Speaker 1: You don't have the reality that you want. You create it.
- 31:51Speaker 1: You in charge of your life. Stop praying that the
- 31:56Speaker 1: storm will.
- 31:57Speaker 5: Pass over you and pray to grow through the storm.
- 32:02Speaker 1: Stop going around it. Go through it. What you go through,
- 32:07Speaker 1: you will grow through. Some fights are not won in
- 32:13Speaker 1: the first round.
- 32:14Speaker 17: Don't get caught up in, well, I've tried it four
- 32:17Speaker 17: or five times and things didn't work out.
- 32:20Speaker 1: If there's something that you.
- 32:21Speaker 3: Want and you're hungry for, you've got to do.
- 32:24Speaker 17: Whatever is necessary until.
- 32:26Speaker 5: And when you give the best you can and that's
- 32:28Speaker 5: not enough, you.
- 32:29Speaker 1: Must do what is required. It don't feel good doing it, right?
- 32:33Speaker 1: But if you keep going, you actually are set up
- 32:36Speaker 1: for success. You can't just be a spectator in life.
- 32:40Speaker 3: If you want great things, you want opportunity, you got
- 32:42Speaker 3: to go get them and you got.
- 32:43Speaker 1: To be open to step out your comfort zone. And
- 32:46Speaker 1: don't give up on yourself. Don't throw the towel in
- 32:49Speaker 1: so quickly. Many people give up on the one yard line.
- 32:58Speaker 12: The race is not given to the strong nor the swift,
- 33:01Speaker 12: but it is given to he that endureth until the end.
- 33:10Speaker 15: We might be through with our past, but our past
- 33:14Speaker 15: is not.
- 33:14Speaker 1: Through with us.
- 33:16Speaker 3: We deal with so much stuff in our past, we
- 33:18Speaker 3: letting energy and things that happened in the past affect
- 33:22Speaker 3: our emotions right now.
- 33:24Speaker 1: That's crazy.
- 33:26Speaker 4: Everybody is facing setbacks. Everybody is feeling pressure. Everybody is
- 33:31Speaker 4: feeling like this anxiety, like, can they do it? Are
- 33:33Speaker 4: they smart enough? Will they make it? So what you
- 33:36Speaker 4: have to choose, right, you're going to go through this
- 33:38Speaker 4: heat and pressure and come out the other side shining,
- 33:41Speaker 4: or are you going to let it crush you? And
- 33:45Speaker 4: at a certain point, we all have to make that choice.
- 33:47Speaker 4: We all have to make that decision. Otherwise, someone's going
- 33:51Speaker 4: to make it for us.
- 33:53Speaker 12: It's your reaction to adversity, not adversity itself, that determines
- 33:56Speaker 12: how your.
- 33:57Speaker 1: Life story will develop.
- 34:01Speaker 12: Rock bottom is the solid foundation to build the future
- 34:05Speaker 12: and you've lost everything.
- 34:08Speaker 1: You have everything you need.
- 34:10Speaker 5: You need endurance you need stamina to reach some goals
- 34:14Speaker 5: you're not going to hit the million with the first
- 34:16Speaker 5: investment You're not going to hit the home run always
- 34:20Speaker 5: at first sweep.
- 34:22Speaker 3: I will never accept defeat. It doesn't say I will
- 34:24Speaker 3: never face defeat. It'll say I will never have defeat.
- 34:26Speaker 3: It says I will never accept defeat. I will never
- 34:29Speaker 3: quit don't mean, you know, that everything is easy. It
- 34:33Speaker 3: means that even if I'm not, I.
- 34:34Speaker 1: Don't think I'm good enough.
- 34:35Speaker 3: I don't think I'm smart enough.
- 34:36Speaker 1: I'm not going to quit on myself. I'm going to
- 34:38Speaker 1: see it through to the end. I don't care what
- 34:40Speaker 1: the adversity has been. You have two choices.
- 34:44Speaker 5: You can be unforgiving, bitter, angry, upset, and be a
- 34:49Speaker 5: carrier of grief, or you can choose resilience.
- 34:54Speaker 17: What you will realize is that you have greatness within you.
- 34:59Speaker 17: What you'll realize is that you're more powerful than you
- 35:02Speaker 17: can ever begin to imagine. What you will realize is
- 35:05Speaker 17: that you are greater than your circumstances, that you don't
- 35:09Speaker 17: have to go through life being a victim.
