- 0:50Speaker 3: on Let's Talk.
- 0:51Speaker 4: Hello, ladies and gentlemen. This is Caraley with Let's Talk,
- 0:54Speaker 4: and I have in the building. I have Hollis Lewis
- 0:57Speaker 4: and my co host and Lisa to the Football Queen,
- 1:01Speaker 4: she's here also, so gentlemen and gentlemen and lady. One
- 1:08Speaker 4: of the interesting things that I have about this particular
- 1:12Speaker 4: show is we've we have tried to figure out exactly
- 1:17Speaker 4: what we wanted to do and how we wanted to
- 1:19Speaker 4: do it.
- 1:19Speaker 2: Y'all not listening. No, we're not. We're definitely not trying
- 1:24Speaker 2: to listen to you.
- 1:26Speaker 4: And hopefully hopefully you know we're We're gonna have coach
- 1:32Speaker 4: Donnie Mays on and obviously he's finishing up practice. But
- 1:38Speaker 4: one of one of the things, because I get this
- 1:41Speaker 4: question about I get this question all the time, like
- 1:46Speaker 4: who is your favorite team? Okay, so the automatic thing
- 1:51Speaker 4: requires me to say the Vikings. And when I think
- 1:56Speaker 4: about the Vikings and my favorite team, I go back
- 1:59Speaker 4: as a child. I was a Browns fan, and I
- 2:02Speaker 4: was a Browns fan because that's for the most part,
- 2:05Speaker 4: that's all that you got to see was, you know,
- 2:09Speaker 4: the Browns, maybe Cincinnati, maybe Pittsburgh, but for whatever whatever
- 2:15Speaker 4: it was, it was always going to be for me,
- 2:17Speaker 4: it was always the Browns. And I can remember Paul Warfield,
- 2:24Speaker 4: Leroy Kelly, like just all of those old school names.
- 2:30Speaker 4: And so it made me think, like what makes you
- 2:35Speaker 4: get or what has caused you to want to have
- 2:39Speaker 4: that team as your favorite team?
- 2:42Speaker 2: And I know Hollis is kind of like leaning.
- 2:45Speaker 4: Already, like he already knows I'm gonna make him have
- 2:49Speaker 4: to hold that Lisa, and I already kind of know
- 2:52Speaker 4: where you're going, but I'm curious about it. I'm curious
- 2:55Speaker 4: to find out who is your favorite professional football team
- 2:59Speaker 4: and why how did you get there?
- 3:03Speaker 2: A good story about where how you got there?
- 3:05Speaker 5: You know, I don't know that. I can't pinpoint the
- 3:08Speaker 5: exact moment. I was probably twelve or thirteen years old,
- 3:11Speaker 5: and you know, watch the Steelers a lot. A lot
- 3:14Speaker 5: of my friends were Steelers fans, you know, as they
- 3:17Speaker 5: still are today.
- 3:18Speaker 6: But it was the Packers that did it for me.
- 3:20Speaker 6: I don't know. I like the tradition.
- 3:23Speaker 5: I liked that the fact that you know, they have
- 3:26Speaker 5: this this history, is this history behind them.
- 3:29Speaker 6: I've been to lambeau Field. It's it's amazing.
- 3:32Speaker 5: I like the fact that there's not one specific owner
- 3:36Speaker 5: that the fans own the team. You know, it's it's
- 3:40Speaker 5: just a it's a it's a cluster of things that
- 3:42Speaker 5: made me become a Packer fan.
- 3:44Speaker 6: But you know, and and they always have good quarterbacks.
- 3:50Speaker 4: They do now they have good defensive line.
- 3:55Speaker 7: Can we can go right there see part part?
- 4:00Speaker 2: You know.
- 4:01Speaker 4: I would like to think, you know that that the
- 4:04Speaker 4: two of you all and myself have been friends for
- 4:08Speaker 4: a long time, that there'd be some kind of way
- 4:11Speaker 4: that there'd be like a piece of you, like saying
- 4:14Speaker 4: like you know, I do like the Vikings.
- 4:18Speaker 2: It didn't know. I grew up.
- 4:21Speaker 4: I grew up a forty nine Ers fan, and I
- 4:22Speaker 4: think it was two parts, right. They were good at
- 4:25Speaker 4: the time when I first started like watching and getting
- 4:27Speaker 4: involved with football, and then through like football and baseball
- 4:31Speaker 4: and basketball card collecting. So when I was little, that
- 4:35Speaker 4: was huge, you know what I mean. And I think
- 4:37Speaker 4: we came up in the age where ESPN was just starting.
- 4:42Speaker 4: So at that point, like I remember, like in fourth grade,
- 4:45Speaker 4: like I don't know if it was like the cloud
- 4:48Speaker 4: the boys in the class did it, but like it
- 4:50Speaker 4: was at that point in which we all just like
- 4:52Speaker 4: designated our team, like okay, you got to pick your
- 4:55Speaker 4: team now, right, So I think you know of a
- 4:59Speaker 4: common nation of things, and you know, I like, to
- 5:01Speaker 4: your point quarterbacks Joe Montana and Jerry Rice was just
- 5:05Speaker 4: super cool to me. So it's a forty nine you
- 5:08Speaker 4: know that personal that has a little has a little
- 5:10Speaker 4: field to be over here. This might be your last
- 5:13Speaker 4: yoh yeah man, every show I mean.
- 5:19Speaker 2: But yeah, it was.
- 5:20Speaker 4: I think it was just you know, that was it,
- 5:23Speaker 4: Like it was Magic Johnson. He had the flare right
- 5:26Speaker 4: right in Cincinnati Red because I liked Eric Davis and
- 5:29Speaker 4: Sable on those guys. So, you know, it was a
- 5:32Speaker 4: combination of who was good at the time, the time
- 5:35Speaker 4: that I, you know, started watching and getting involved in
- 5:37Speaker 4: sports and then sports card collecting. So I was like,
- 5:40Speaker 4: it's a combination of the three.
- 5:42Speaker 2: So question.
- 5:45Speaker 4: To your team and your excitement for it. Do you
- 5:50Speaker 4: have a moment when you were like, that's it, I'm
- 5:53Speaker 4: done with it.
- 5:56Speaker 2: That's something that.
- 5:59Speaker 5: Like, I think it was a couple of years ago
- 6:02Speaker 5: when the Pack was in the well. They actually they
- 6:05Speaker 5: were in the playoffs and if they would have won
- 6:06Speaker 5: the game, they would have gone.
- 6:08Speaker 6: I think it would have the NFC Championship.
- 6:10Speaker 5: They played the forty nine ers against Yeah, that was
- 6:13Speaker 5: the NFC Championship a couple of years ago. Right when
- 6:15Speaker 5: they lost by field goal, all kids, I was beyond crushed.
- 6:23Speaker 5: Like the next day, I get up out of bed
- 6:24Speaker 5: and I take my cheesehead and all my packer stuff
- 6:27Speaker 5: and I put it in a trash bag and I
- 6:29Speaker 5: took it to the trash can. And luckily my husband
- 6:32Speaker 5: Jerry was watching through the window and he went and
- 6:35Speaker 5: he saved it for me because after I got over it,
- 6:37Speaker 5: I was like, oh my gosh, I threw my stuff away,
- 6:39Speaker 5: you know. But no, that for me, that was just
- 6:41Speaker 5: because I thought, this is the only opportunity they're ever
- 6:45Speaker 5: going to get to get that close to the Super
- 6:46Speaker 5: Bowl again. Boy, I think I was wrong because I
- 6:49Speaker 5: think this year might be their year.
- 6:51Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:51Speaker 4: I think for me it was like the whole Kaepernick
- 6:54Speaker 4: thing being a forty nine Ers fan, like, you know,
- 6:57Speaker 4: particularly we had just win at the Super Bowl and
- 6:59Speaker 4: then you know, thing happened on Kaepernick. And I am
- 7:02Speaker 4: a huge Jim Harball fan. I am a huge He's
- 7:06Speaker 4: one of the best coaches in football. To me, like
- 7:09Speaker 4: everywhere he goes, he wins. Everywhere he goes, he's improving
- 7:12Speaker 4: your quarterback situation. From San Diego State to you know,
- 7:15Speaker 4: San Diego Now to Michigan to forty nine Ers to Stanford.
- 7:19Speaker 4: Everywhere that dude goes, he wins. And I like the
- 7:22Speaker 4: way in the style in which he coaches I think
- 7:24Speaker 4: is very He gets the most out of his teams
- 7:27Speaker 4: and players and wherever he goes, if you notice, he
- 7:29Speaker 4: always leaves the program better than he finds it. So
- 7:32Speaker 4: after those two things. I was like just done with
- 7:35Speaker 4: the nineties and I'm not really you know, I still
- 7:37Speaker 4: like him, but I'm more of just a general fan.
- 7:39Speaker 4: And I would never you know, I'm a Laker for life.
- 7:41Speaker 4: So I am a Laker and they can never ever
- 7:45Speaker 4: do anything that made me turn in those colors. But
- 7:48Speaker 4: you know, it was kind of a combination of the
- 7:50Speaker 4: cap in Jim barholl excuse me, Jim Harball thing and see,
- 7:54Speaker 4: and I was a Browns fan, and I was a
- 7:55Speaker 4: Browns fan pretty much because that's that was my dad's team.
- 7:59Speaker 2: And you know, so I grew up and I was
- 8:04Speaker 2: always and I.
- 8:04Speaker 4: Can remember tons and tons of time crying because they lost,
- 8:08Speaker 4: right Like I mean, I'm like, like it.
- 8:11Speaker 6: Was it was a big deal.
- 8:12Speaker 2: It was a big deal.
- 8:13Speaker 4: Like and the Browns were good, you know, and you
- 8:17Speaker 4: know a loss was like devastating to me. But as
- 8:21Speaker 4: I got older, by the time I got to Marshall,
- 8:25Speaker 4: I kind of got away from like really like really
- 8:28Speaker 4: watching it. And actually because I was playing it at
- 8:32Speaker 4: you know, at a college level and and I didn't
- 8:36Speaker 4: have to, like it was almost I felt like it
- 8:38Speaker 4: was almost too much football for me. Yeah, and and
- 8:42Speaker 4: so then you just didn't.
- 8:45Speaker 8: I did.
- 8:45Speaker 2: I really didn't have time for it.
- 8:47Speaker 4: And then once I actually get drafted, I get to
- 8:50Speaker 4: Minnesota and I go through that time span and then
- 8:55Speaker 4: when I when I come back, Like you know, I'm
- 9:00Speaker 4: trying to figure out, like, am I supposed to be
- 9:02Speaker 4: a Viking fan, a diehard Viking fan because I played
- 9:04Speaker 4: for them. Am I supposed to be a die hard
- 9:06Speaker 4: Marshall fan because I played for them? Am I supposed
- 9:09Speaker 4: to be a diehard South Charleston fan because I played
- 9:11Speaker 4: for them? Do you guys think that you that you
- 9:14Speaker 4: should have to be locked into the team that you
- 9:18Speaker 4: played for or is there opportunity to be for something else?
- 9:22Speaker 2: Dude, you're a Viking.
- 9:23Speaker 4: I mean if you were like one of those it
- 9:24Speaker 4: was uh, it was talking about a quarterback I forget.
- 9:28Speaker 4: His name is Johnson that he's played for like ten
- 9:31Speaker 4: different teams. So for him, it's like whatever. But I
- 9:34Speaker 4: think for you, yeah, you live for ten different teams,
- 9:37Speaker 4: so he probably can just go bad. But you know,
- 9:39Speaker 4: but he's good. It's thirty nine, he's been in the
- 9:41Speaker 4: league for you know, almost twenty plus years, you know.
- 9:45Speaker 4: But for you, because you had such a story career,
- 9:47Speaker 4: you were there for what like eleven years?
- 9:49Speaker 2: Yeah, you know what I'm saying, Yeah, all but one. Yeah,
- 9:52Speaker 2: so you're a Viking man, so it's like you ain't
- 9:54Speaker 2: got to turn the corner.
- 9:55Speaker 4: Well, I mean, I don't wish Vikings anything negative, you know,
- 10:02Speaker 4: and but I don't.
- 10:03Speaker 2: But well, of.
- 10:05Speaker 4: Course that is because of the Viking.
- 10:09Speaker 2: I can't.
- 10:10Speaker 6: I can't excey you are a Vikings fan.
- 10:13Speaker 4: I can't acce I would never be happy one between
- 10:16Speaker 4: you and Sterling. There's no there's no way that I
- 10:21Speaker 4: could ever really root for the Packers.
- 10:22Speaker 2: That could be, that could never happen.
- 10:24Speaker 4: And now we have a reason maybe you shouldn't be
- 10:27Speaker 4: practice because they have Michael Parsons. So what what And
- 10:33Speaker 4: again you you have said, you know, far as negotiating
- 10:37Speaker 4: with gender managers, you kind of said, and past shows
- 10:39Speaker 4: how difficult it is and different things of that nature.
- 10:41Speaker 4: Now I want to ask you something about this trade
- 10:44Speaker 4: because one of the things that j Jones said is
- 10:48Speaker 4: that this is going to be like the second quote
- 10:50Speaker 4: unquote herschel Walker trade. Now they got for Michael Parsons,
- 10:55Speaker 4: they got what two first round draft picks. They save
- 10:58Speaker 4: money and that's it, right, Yeah, is so it's two
- 11:02Speaker 4: first round draft picks, the ability to sign more players.
- 11:05Speaker 4: Do you think it can have the same impact has
- 11:08Speaker 4: the herschel Walker trate. Yes, here's the thing. Well, let
- 11:13Speaker 4: me ask you this question. I'll ask you both this question.
- 11:17Speaker 4: How are you looking how are you viewing the herschel
- 11:19Speaker 4: Walker trade. I mean it was the reason why the
- 11:22Speaker 4: Cowboys won three Super Bowls? Okay, I think that there
- 11:28Speaker 4: is no It makes no sense to build another team
- 11:34Speaker 4: in a trade like that, because really what you're doing
- 11:36Speaker 4: is you're you're helping that team become a Super Bowl. Yes,
- 11:41Speaker 4: you are you saying the Packers are helping the Cowboys,
- 11:44Speaker 4: or the Cowboys are helping the pack whoever's lead, whoever
- 11:46Speaker 4: sending the number of players. Okay, you're getting you're getting
- 11:51Speaker 4: right now. Talent draft picks is not a guarantee. Okay,
- 11:56Speaker 4: you see saying you can't guarantee.
- 11:58Speaker 2: You don't know what. You have no clue what you're gonna.
- 12:00Speaker 6: Get a thing, Michaeus Young.
- 12:01Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 12:02Speaker 4: And the thing with the Cowboys to me, with Michael Parsons,
- 12:04Speaker 4: with dak with Ceedee Lamb, with all the pieces that
- 12:07Speaker 4: they were, it seemed like they were ready to win
- 12:09Speaker 4: now and now you've seen that to the Packers who
- 12:13Speaker 4: might be ready to win now.
- 12:14Speaker 5: Yeah, but okay, so here's here's the question I want
- 12:17Speaker 5: to throw out to you guys, because I don't know anything.
- 12:19Speaker 5: So when they traded Micah, he was going he wasn't
- 12:23Speaker 5: practicing with the team due to to back issues quote.
- 12:27Speaker 5: But now they're saying that he's in Green Bay of course,
- 12:30Speaker 5: and he's practicing and he's supposed to get like injections.
- 12:33Speaker 5: So maybe there is some truth to the rumors about
- 12:36Speaker 5: his back. I mean, doesn't the team give a physical?
- 12:39Speaker 5: Don't they have to do a thorough physical before you
- 12:41Speaker 5: do any kind of trade?
- 12:42Speaker 2: Yeah, they do.
- 12:43Speaker 4: But but let's be honest that the truth we can
- 12:47Speaker 4: never really get to the true ry Jays, not even
- 12:50Speaker 4: because of that.
- 12:51Speaker 2: It's just it's just the league.
- 12:53Speaker 4: You know, you're going to get part of the story
- 12:57Speaker 4: or the best part of the story that they The
- 12:59Speaker 4: story that they is is the best way to your point.
- 13:03Speaker 4: Hollis again about a team that was we were right
- 13:06Speaker 4: thereout y'all got we went and made the herschel Walker trade.
- 13:12Speaker 4: We were right there. Okay, what what pieces did you?
- 13:16Speaker 4: Can you remember the pieces that y'all gave up, gave up.
- 13:18Speaker 4: That really hurts, y'all. We gave up, We gave up.
- 13:22Speaker 4: We gave up three three linebackers, all starters. Okay, you
- 13:30Speaker 4: gave up three lines week start starter starters. So is
- 13:33Speaker 4: this like your like your middle strong and weak or it.
- 13:37Speaker 2: Was it was?
- 13:37Speaker 4: It was it was strong week, and we had one
- 13:40Speaker 4: that was with the We played the four three, so
- 13:43Speaker 4: we had two outside and we had one inside.
- 13:47Speaker 2: So one of our inside and our two outsides gave up, y'all.
- 13:50Speaker 6: Corey, that's crazy.
- 13:52Speaker 2: We gave up. We gave up.
- 13:54Speaker 4: We gave up a corner. Who was who is the
- 13:57Speaker 4: guy that I've talked to before. You guys have heard
- 13:59Speaker 4: me say who I thought was the best corner I've
- 14:02Speaker 4: ever seen. They got rid of him as well, and
- 14:05Speaker 4: he was he was the nickel guy. He was a
- 14:08Speaker 4: starter and then was a nickel guy also for us,
- 14:12Speaker 4: you got rid of him. I mean, so you're talking
- 14:14Speaker 4: about like we gave up starters. And see, this is
- 14:17Speaker 4: why I wanted to because you were there, like you,
- 14:20Speaker 4: you were there to like say talking he made And
- 14:23Speaker 4: I can remember the first day walking into the locker
- 14:26Speaker 4: room and seeing Herschel's locker and him there at his locker. Okay,
- 14:31Speaker 4: so naturally you you know, you want to be cordial
- 14:35Speaker 4: because because like I'm like thinking, like.
- 14:38Speaker 2: You're you're you're banking on this guy to to take
- 14:42Speaker 2: us over the hunt. Well, we're already over the humph.
- 14:45Speaker 2: And how many years deep were you in it this time?
- 14:48Speaker 4: I'm in I'm in eighty forty five six I think
- 14:53Speaker 4: I think it was like around eighty seven or so,
- 14:56Speaker 4: so I'm I'm five years yeah, about five or six
- 14:58Speaker 4: years in.
- 14:59Speaker 2: I'm good.
- 15:00Speaker 4: And this is from what you're saying, like, this is
- 15:02Speaker 4: your chance to like ya, right, we're there. You were
- 15:07Speaker 4: already we're looking at this and we're thinking we are there.
- 15:10Speaker 5: And when you trade your starters, I mean I just
- 15:13Speaker 5: noticed support. You can't just have the star Mike.
- 15:16Speaker 2: Mike Lynn was the general manager the T.
- 15:20Speaker 6: And I mean crazy.
- 15:22Speaker 4: Darren Nelson, who was a multiple threat in the backfield.
- 15:27Speaker 2: They got rid of him.
- 15:30Speaker 4: I mean it was so they got rid of your
- 15:32Speaker 4: starting three linebackers are guys who played. They got rid
- 15:35Speaker 4: of your nickel corner, and they got rid of your
- 15:37Speaker 4: running back and running back and there's somebody else in
- 15:39Speaker 4: that there's somebody want that player. Yes, that's like your core,
- 15:44Speaker 4: your team. It was the quarterback, everything and everything that
- 15:48Speaker 4: was important. We gave up. And you know what, Dallas
- 15:53Speaker 4: and Dallas got rid of all of them when they
- 15:55Speaker 4: when they went to Dallas, Dallas cut them.
- 15:57Speaker 2: They wanted to. All they cared about was a draft pick.
- 16:00Speaker 2: And y'all gave up draft picks.
- 16:01Speaker 4: Yes, So y'all gave up like play simply five starters
- 16:06Speaker 4: and draft picks.
- 16:06Speaker 2: Yes. So yeah, this ain't like to.
- 16:10Speaker 4: So it was this was I mean, I'm telling you
- 16:12Speaker 4: this was like and and my name had come up
- 16:16Speaker 4: as a possibility of being part of that trade.
- 16:19Speaker 2: But again.
- 16:21Speaker 4: For us, we were right there, like we we're coming
- 16:25Speaker 4: off the NFC championship.
- 16:27Speaker 2: Game also the year before.
- 16:28Speaker 4: Yes, yes, we we do this after after that game,
- 16:33Speaker 4: after the US making a huge run, and then we're
- 16:38Speaker 4: gonna we're gonna. I guess what the thoughts were, We
- 16:42Speaker 4: can get rid of all these players and we get
- 16:44Speaker 4: Herschel take us over the top.
- 16:47Speaker 2: How do you do that with your i mean, without
- 16:49Speaker 2: your team, without your team?
- 16:51Speaker 4: So look, does does the Micah Parson trade to the
- 16:55Speaker 4: Packers make the Packers a Super Bowl contender?
- 16:59Speaker 5: I think it increases their chances immensely. And here's here's
- 17:04Speaker 5: here's what I think, and I this is what I'm
- 17:07Speaker 5: this is my opinion of it. Last year, the Green
- 17:09Speaker 5: Bay Pickers, they were the youngest team in the NFL, right,
- 17:12Speaker 5: and they got a lot of experience last year going
- 17:15Speaker 5: to the playoffs. You know, they've got that under their
- 17:17Speaker 5: belt now. And and also, in all fairness, you know,
- 17:21Speaker 5: Jordan loves a good quarterback, but he was hurt most
- 17:24Speaker 5: of the season last year. He struggled all year with
- 17:26Speaker 5: some kind of a growing injury on and off and
- 17:28Speaker 5: then other things.
- 17:29Speaker 6: And you know, if they can keep.
- 17:31Speaker 5: Him healthy and the Michael Parsons is healthy, which you know,
- 17:34Speaker 5: like I said, there's always those rumors about the back issues.
- 17:36Speaker 5: I think they have a legitimate shot at least winning
- 17:38Speaker 5: the NFC North.
- 17:40Speaker 2: Wow.
- 17:40Speaker 4: So let me ask you this, like what is up
- 17:43Speaker 4: with like owners and general managers like giving up prime talent,
- 17:47Speaker 4: Like you look at Luca gone money, you look at Thibodeau,
- 17:50Speaker 4: Tom Thibodeau got that team New York Knits, The Males gone,
- 17:53Speaker 4: Michael madd gone. They're paying other people like why back
- 17:57Speaker 4: in our day, back in our day, So you get
- 18:01Speaker 4: rid of all of those paychecks and you drop it
- 18:04Speaker 4: all into her shows.
- 18:07Speaker 2: That's insane. You drop it off into his pocket. But
- 18:11Speaker 2: so it ain't money, then how was the money if
- 18:13Speaker 2: you if.
- 18:14Speaker 4: You spend it, because because the the idea is he's
- 18:17Speaker 4: the guy, he's gonna he's gonna be the guy that's
- 18:19Speaker 4: gonna take you. Now, first day, first day of practice,
- 18:23Speaker 4: first day of practice is always a must do right,
- 18:28Speaker 4: like you you gotta come out, you got to show something.
- 18:32Speaker 2: And brother, I'm.
- 18:33Speaker 4: Watching him now, could he run me? If it's me
- 18:35Speaker 4: and him in a tackle drill, He's probably gonna run
- 18:38Speaker 4: over me. He's standing straight up, he's tip he's like
- 18:41Speaker 4: running on his like tippy toes, and he ain't really
- 18:43Speaker 4: like bending this beat, not bending his knees or nothing.
- 18:45Speaker 4: And I'm like, well, how's he gonna you know, super fast,
- 18:49Speaker 4: super big? Yeah, but he ain't the guy like he ain't.
- 18:55Speaker 2: Gonna break I don't.
- 18:58Speaker 6: I mean, you did make the Super Bowl.
- 19:01Speaker 2: No we went no, no we lost in the NFC
- 19:03Speaker 2: Championship game.
- 19:05Speaker 5: But you did make the NFC Championship game with them.
- 19:07Speaker 5: But you've done that the year before, we had done
- 19:09Speaker 5: that before that.
- 19:11Speaker 6: Had him.
- 19:11Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't even know if we made. I don't
- 19:13Speaker 4: even know if we got through the first round.
- 19:15Speaker 2: Of the playoffs.
- 19:16Speaker 6: Oh wow, okay, if.
- 19:18Speaker 2: We even got there. My memory is horrible.
- 19:21Speaker 4: So all the listeners just for you, just so that
- 19:24Speaker 4: you know, somebody had to google that.
- 19:26Speaker 2: Well, but it was it.
- 19:28Speaker 6: Was so it wasn't worth it.
- 19:31Speaker 2: Maybe two years maybe he I mean he didn't.
- 19:35Speaker 4: I mean, you're looking at lockers and guys that you
- 19:38Speaker 4: knew what they could do, you knew how well they played,
- 19:41Speaker 4: and we were part of a team, you know, and
- 19:45Speaker 4: all of a sudden, a general manager makes this decision
- 19:49Speaker 4: out of the blue and cuts half your and cuts
- 19:53Speaker 4: half the team well or trades them away.
- 19:55Speaker 2: And eventually, like I said, when they went to Dallas.
- 19:57Speaker 6: So that was the beginning of the end for you guys.
- 20:00Speaker 2: Yes, yes, really.
- 20:01Speaker 6: What year was that?
- 20:02Speaker 2: Year?
- 20:03Speaker 1: Nine?
- 20:04Speaker 4: And he had he played in eleven games and had
- 20:07Speaker 4: six hundred and sixty nine yards average four point four
- 20:11Speaker 4: periods of the game.
- 20:12Speaker 2: They had five touchdowns.
- 20:14Speaker 6: Not worth it the record.
- 20:17Speaker 2: And what do you what do you say to that?
- 20:20Speaker 6: Like, yeah, I mean you don't.
- 20:22Speaker 5: I mean, I guess every time the NFL, you know,
- 20:25Speaker 5: these teams make a trade, it's a gamble. I mean,
- 20:28Speaker 5: if it's a roll of the dice, you don't you
- 20:30Speaker 5: don't know for sure. Look, you know, we don't know
- 20:31Speaker 5: what Aaron Rodgers is going to do for the Steelers.
- 20:33Speaker 5: There's a lot of hype with that going on, you know,
- 20:36Speaker 5: with Michael Parsons coming to us.
- 20:37Speaker 6: I think it's I think it's a good trade. But
- 20:40Speaker 6: we did lose.
- 20:40Speaker 5: I think Kenny Clark just somebody could google that, but
- 20:44Speaker 5: we we had to give up one of our starting players.
- 20:46Speaker 5: We did give up one with with the first round
- 20:49Speaker 5: draft picks maybe somebody coming.
- 20:51Speaker 4: And I really do think that draft picks are are gambles, Yeah,
- 20:59Speaker 4: but it's a gamble worth taking. When to me, at
- 21:03Speaker 4: that point in time, Herschel had not done like what
- 21:06Speaker 4: had he done to be worthy of draft picks?
- 21:11Speaker 5: And he was on foot Bowl teams in Dallas, right, No, no, no, oh, okay,
- 21:15Speaker 5: I got that information wrong.
- 21:17Speaker 2: They were pretty bad. Yeah. I don't I don't think.
- 21:20Speaker 2: I don't.
- 21:21Speaker 4: I don't think he had done anything the stacular the
- 21:24Speaker 4: first year him with the Minnesota Wakings. You guys were
- 21:27Speaker 4: ten and six and you lost in the first You
- 21:29Speaker 4: wanted to actually won the NFC Central Division, But you
- 21:31Speaker 4: guys lost in the first round to the to the
- 21:35Speaker 4: forty nine ers.
- 21:38Speaker 6: Pallis was probably sharing for the time watch.
- 21:42Speaker 2: I'm sure he watched that game.
- 21:43Speaker 3: You know.
- 21:44Speaker 6: Oh gosh, that's crazy.
- 21:46Speaker 4: But just just for you, Hollis, just to make you,
- 21:50Speaker 4: just to bring you down just a little bit because
- 21:52Speaker 4: you just because you wanted to make sure.
- 21:53Speaker 2: But you made the Pro Bowl that year, you know, Yeah, okay,
- 21:56Speaker 2: I appreciate that. I a little bit. I'm looking for
- 22:01Speaker 2: the team part of this.
- 22:03Speaker 4: Supposedly, when the forty nine ers was the best team ever,
- 22:07Speaker 4: that's the year that we we we beat them. Just
- 22:10Speaker 4: in case you know what year was that. That was
- 22:13Speaker 4: the year before eighty eight. Who they did. Huh they
- 22:18Speaker 4: didn't win the Super Bowl.
- 22:19Speaker 2: We didn't win in an eighty eight.
- 22:22Speaker 4: And again, my years, all my years are all messed
- 22:26Speaker 4: My years are all messed up. But the year that
- 22:28Speaker 4: we beat them, they were considered one of the best
- 22:30Speaker 4: teams in the league. Just so just so you know, okay, okay,
- 22:34Speaker 4: what about the whole and we did shut him down.
- 22:36Speaker 4: You can go look up and stacked if you want.
- 22:38Speaker 4: Oh no, that was a I'm sorry, that was the
- 22:40Speaker 4: riskins I should have known that. But Doug Williams. Yeah,
- 22:43Speaker 4: that's right, that's right.
- 22:44Speaker 5: If you guys had a chance, this is the tis
- 22:46Speaker 5: the season for power rankings in the NFL. Have you
- 22:49Speaker 5: guys looked at any It's kind of like, and you
- 22:51Speaker 5: guys correct me completely if I'm wrong. So the NFL
- 22:54Speaker 5: really doesn't do like official power rankings. It's more like
- 22:57Speaker 5: your your media outlets like CBS and and they're they're
- 23:01Speaker 5: like correspondence go and they give their picks. And I
- 23:04Speaker 5: came across some today and I just thought I'd maybe
- 23:08Speaker 5: share a couple of them and then.
- 23:09Speaker 2: Just I'm just gonna assume.
- 23:12Speaker 5: So we've got we've got the forty nine ers coming in,
- 23:16Speaker 5: uh And basically I looked at several I looked at
- 23:19Speaker 5: several power rankings from different media outlets. They were all
- 23:21Speaker 5: pretty close, give or take a couple of spaces. So
- 23:24Speaker 5: we've got the.
- 23:25Speaker 6: Forty nine ers coming in at number nine. That's not bad.
- 23:28Speaker 6: You might have a good year. Might might.
- 23:31Speaker 5: But we have the Vikings coming in fourteen h so
- 23:36Speaker 5: kind of middle of the pack. Speaking of pack, we
- 23:40Speaker 5: have the Packers at number four. And this was CBS's
- 23:44Speaker 5: Pete Crisco I think is his name. He's there correspondent
- 23:47Speaker 5: for the NFL. So he and let me let me
- 23:50Speaker 5: tell you he went further. I read the whole article.
- 23:52Speaker 2: I'm sure you did.
- 23:54Speaker 5: Once I saw that, it kind of peaked my interest.
- 23:55Speaker 5: So his pick for the Super you can't look.
- 23:58Speaker 2: She's so excited. If you are at the listeners could.
- 24:00Speaker 6: See, oh they can them up so well.
- 24:05Speaker 5: I was excited for part of it and then not
- 24:07Speaker 5: part of it. But he feels like this is going
- 24:08Speaker 5: to be the year for a Bills Packers Super Bowl
- 24:13Speaker 5: with the Bills winning at all. Wow, he's a pretty
- 24:17Speaker 5: repud but he says, now, this is if everybody stays healthy.
- 24:19Speaker 5: Josh Allen's got to stay healthy. You know, same with
- 24:22Speaker 5: Jordan Love. I don't know, I feel good about this team.
- 24:26Speaker 2: I think.
- 24:27Speaker 4: Sorry, I don't. I think that's true, But you know
- 24:29Speaker 4: I would. I would definitely have the the Eagles up there.
- 24:33Speaker 4: I'm going quarterback. I would have the.
- 24:34Speaker 6: Eagles are number one and almost everybody.
- 24:36Speaker 4: I would have the Chiefs upper I'm telling you, I'm
- 24:38Speaker 4: going to have if everybody can stay healthy, I would
- 24:41Speaker 4: have san Diego uper. I think Jim Harball he's proven that.
- 24:45Speaker 4: You give him a couple of years. Year two the
- 24:47Speaker 4: dramatic improvements happened. So I would have to be looking
- 24:50Speaker 4: for the San Diego.
- 24:52Speaker 2: Chargers up there.
- 24:53Speaker 4: Yeah, and I would be looking if if Michael Parsons
- 24:56Speaker 4: can stay on the field, you gotta get a packer something,
- 24:58Speaker 4: because I mean, that's a legit. You'd a meant, you know,
- 25:01Speaker 4: eleven to maybe fifteen sacks. That changes the complexity of
- 25:05Speaker 4: what you do offense. And if Jordan Love can stay healthy,
- 25:09Speaker 4: I mean, and you got to put the pack up
- 25:11Speaker 4: and you know, hopefully, I mean, I don't know what
- 25:13Speaker 4: you know, because I'm kind of semi rooting for the Bengals,
- 25:16Speaker 4: but you know, if we can get an offensive line
- 25:19Speaker 4: to do to protect a little bit, then.
- 25:21Speaker 6: They were around eleven and most of them.
- 25:24Speaker 2: See but see to those rankings, I think.
- 25:28Speaker 4: I think teams that are I think it's difficult for
- 25:31Speaker 4: teams that are ranked or it has the expectation to
- 25:35Speaker 4: be the Super Bowl team.
- 25:36Speaker 2: I think they have pressure, a lot of pressure.
- 25:40Speaker 6: I think walk through the door they had pressure.
- 25:43Speaker 4: Well, yeah, yeah, because you can't falling short and you
- 25:48Speaker 4: play and you lose an NFC championship game.
- 25:50Speaker 2: That's not falling short. No, you know what I'm saying.
- 25:53Speaker 4: I mean you did a lot. I mean you team, Yeah,
- 25:56Speaker 4: you got to that point. But people see that as like, oh,
- 26:00Speaker 4: they didn't make it.
- 26:02Speaker 5: We had that conversation before, like you're talking about the Steelers,
- 26:05Speaker 5: Like it's different types of fan bases, the fan bases
- 26:07Speaker 5: of the Chiefs.
- 26:08Speaker 6: If they don't win the super Bowl, it's been a
- 26:09Speaker 6: bad year.
- 26:10Speaker 5: If you're a Giants fan and you make the playoffs,
- 26:15Speaker 5: you know, I mean, it's it's all about.
- 26:16Speaker 2: And you're looking forward to next season. Yeah, and I
- 26:18Speaker 2: think you mentioned the Steelers too.
- 26:20Speaker 4: I mean, you know, I'm not necessarily the biggest Aaron
- 26:22Speaker 4: Rodgers fan, but I think he's coming back with something
- 26:25Speaker 4: to prove, you know what I mean, and still as
- 26:28Speaker 4: they already have a solid organization from what everybody said,
- 26:31Speaker 4: they were quarterback away. So I think he's gonna come
- 26:33Speaker 4: back with the vengeance bar and that he can stay healthy.
- 26:36Speaker 4: So that might be that's.
- 26:38Speaker 6: Their key, Kep saying, and that really is the key
- 26:41Speaker 6: for almost every team.
- 26:42Speaker 2: Yes, you're you.
- 26:48Speaker 4: Got to protect him because he can't get out of
- 26:50Speaker 4: the pocket, so he's a standing target.
- 26:53Speaker 2: Teams are gonna know it, what are they gonna do?
- 26:55Speaker 2: We're gonna blitch you.
- 26:56Speaker 6: Yeah, you know, I don't know.
- 26:58Speaker 4: I don't know if you blitz him because he's you apart,
- 27:02Speaker 4: because he can he got that quick release, he got that.
- 27:05Speaker 4: He still got that quick really and he's sitting in
- 27:07Speaker 4: the gun. I think you have to zone scheme him.
- 27:09Speaker 4: You got to come up with some razzle dazzle now,
- 27:11Speaker 4: I think if you again, no, we're getting technical. But
- 27:16Speaker 4: I don't think playing zone against him. I think that's
- 27:20Speaker 4: where he can pick you apart. Why becaun't like zone?
- 27:22Speaker 4: And then you like maybe showing zone. You go to man,
- 27:25Speaker 4: you show me anything. You gotta give him some clouds.
- 27:28Speaker 4: You gotta play with him. You gotta play with him
- 27:30Speaker 4: a little bit for sure. You know, it's like a
- 27:32Speaker 4: straight up zone. You would get dingy yeah himself.
- 27:36Speaker 2: And at the.
- 27:37Speaker 5: Bottom of the list, guys, let's go there. Let's just
- 27:39Speaker 5: see who's hanging around at the end. Got the Saints
- 27:43Speaker 5: at number thirty two and Browns thirty one, and those
- 27:46Speaker 5: two kind of were interchanged and different and just you know,
- 27:51Speaker 5: you know what, especially the Browns.
- 27:54Speaker 6: I mean, I don't I like the Browns.
- 27:56Speaker 4: I don't grow up like a die hard, like I'm
- 27:58Speaker 4: crying when they when they and It amazes me to
- 28:04Speaker 4: this to the point of like, how how have you
- 28:08Speaker 4: gone this far down and just and you're staying there And.
- 28:12Speaker 5: They've tried, they've tried so many different things with you know,
- 28:16Speaker 5: the draft and trading players, and they still can't get
- 28:19Speaker 5: out of that.
- 28:20Speaker 4: Yeah, I just don't. I don't to me when like again,
- 28:23Speaker 4: you know, I'm definitely novice, just kind of watching them
- 28:25Speaker 4: the sidelines, But it just seems like the good organizations
- 28:28Speaker 4: they build sort of from the ground up, so they
- 28:31Speaker 4: don't go necessarily for flash They'll start with those offensive linemen,
- 28:34Speaker 4: they'll start with those defensive linements, the non flashy positions.
- 28:38Speaker 4: They'll establish that foundation and didn't just build out slowly
- 28:41Speaker 4: and steadily where it just I mean, hell, excuse me.
- 28:45Speaker 4: The Browns had the grounds had five, but they had
- 28:49Speaker 4: five quarterbacks. I mean it's just you draft, you're gonna
- 28:52Speaker 4: draft a quarterback in the third round, and you draft
- 28:54Speaker 4: a quarterback in the fifth round. It's just like, man,
- 28:56Speaker 4: you're not serious.
- 28:57Speaker 2: Well to your point, look at look at Kansas City.
- 29:01Speaker 4: Nobody was watching Kansas City as Kansas City was building facts.
- 29:05Speaker 6: That's a fact, you know what I'm saying.
- 29:11Speaker 2: Yeah, they were year and year out they get this guy.
- 29:15Speaker 4: They get this guy, and then all of a sudden
- 29:19Speaker 4: you're like looking at him and you're like, oh my gosh.
- 29:22Speaker 2: Who can beat them? Where did they get that corn?
- 29:25Speaker 2: That's what I'm saying.
- 29:25Speaker 4: GM's gms and and coaching matters, like it matters. I
- 29:30Speaker 4: think when you look at good organizations, you always have
- 29:34Speaker 4: a good GM and a good coach associated or just
- 29:37Speaker 4: a dynamic quarterback like a Brady. Even like what Tampa
- 29:41Speaker 4: Bay is doing. I think Tampa Bay is going to
- 29:42Speaker 4: They may not win the Super Bowl, but they're going
- 29:45Speaker 4: to be in the mix in the NFC South. So
- 29:47Speaker 4: you know, I don't know, man, And I think to
- 29:50Speaker 4: your to your GM conversation, I mean I can validate that, yeah, yeah, right.
- 29:58Speaker 4: In fact, when you start to talking about a GM
- 30:00Speaker 4: and you you've got to have a GM that players
- 30:04Speaker 4: are you know, everybody's not going to get the contract
- 30:08Speaker 4: that they want, but for the most part, the team
- 30:11Speaker 4: is going to be happy because the players are going
- 30:13Speaker 4: in getting the contracts getting back out on the field.
- 30:16Speaker 4: You might have one or two, but you can't have
- 30:18Speaker 4: a general manager where you that guys are talking.
- 30:21Speaker 2: About in the locker room.
- 30:24Speaker 4: Hey, the vikings with with Mike Lynn, like nobody wanted
- 30:30Speaker 4: to even deal with him on a contract, right because
- 30:33Speaker 4: he was just so like when when when you say
- 30:36Speaker 4: to somebody, if you don't like this contract, you can
- 30:38Speaker 4: go drive a bus, like and I said that before,
- 30:42Speaker 4: you know, so when you you know, when you.
- 30:53Speaker 6: Kept calling and Michael, did you see the press kept
- 30:55Speaker 6: calling it?
- 30:56Speaker 7: Michael, Come on, when you have that kind of gen,
- 31:00Speaker 7: it's hard to win because the because your players are
- 31:04Speaker 7: holding on to the fight that you had for the contract,
- 31:08Speaker 7: the words that the GM's saying, you know, like why
- 31:11Speaker 7: is he even talking?
- 31:13Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying, Like.
- 31:16Speaker 4: Back in the day, it wasn't it wasn't like GM's
- 31:19Speaker 4: had a lot of space to talk. But Mike Linn
- 31:22Speaker 4: would he would steal it just purposely to say something stupid,
- 31:27Speaker 4: just for the players to dislike him even more because
- 31:30Speaker 4: I really felt like he was the kind of guy
- 31:32Speaker 4: that didn't want you to actually like him.
- 31:34Speaker 2: And I think that's so he.
- 31:36Speaker 6: Doesn't get a Christmas card from you.
- 31:38Speaker 5: What you're saying, no, no, no.
- 31:42Speaker 7: You know, God rest is so but no, it was
- 31:46Speaker 7: just even then, Yeah, it just was It was.
- 31:48Speaker 2: Just a bad It was just a bad situation. You
- 31:51Speaker 2: know that.
- 31:52Speaker 4: I think most of the players felt that the worst thing,
- 31:55Speaker 4: that the worst thing of professional football was to have
- 31:58Speaker 4: to go in and meet with Mike Lynn and try
- 32:01Speaker 4: to get a deal. That was That was the worst
- 32:04Speaker 4: That was the worst part of it. All Right, Well,
- 32:05Speaker 4: we're gonna take a quick break and we will be
- 32:07Speaker 4: right back.
- 32:09Speaker 2: All right, cats a kittens, have you heard?

- 33:36Speaker 3: Now back to the conversation.
- 33:37Speaker 2: All right, ladies and gentlemen, we are back.
- 33:40Speaker 4: And uh I'm for the first time. I guess I
- 33:43Speaker 4: got a chance to have a basically almost a half
- 33:48Speaker 4: a show talking about the biking that God was good
- 33:53Speaker 4: because you had you had a perspective, just like I said,
- 33:55Speaker 4: because you were there during the first quote unquote herschel
- 33:58Speaker 4: Walker trade.
- 33:59Speaker 2: Now we're in walking number two.
- 34:00Speaker 6: So it's cathartic for you. Wasn't yes, it was yes, yes.
- 34:06Speaker 1: Oh.
- 34:07Speaker 5: I just I wanted to touch on you know, opening week
- 34:09Speaker 5: of college of football. It was just it was it
- 34:12Speaker 5: was like a highlight reel. I mean, it was everything
- 34:14Speaker 5: you wanted and then some you know, there was something
- 34:16Speaker 5: for everybody. You had close games, you had upsets, you
- 34:20Speaker 5: had you know, outside of the game, you had you know,
- 34:22Speaker 5: the Lee Corso his his final college game day show. Uh,
- 34:27Speaker 5: Bill Belichick coming out for his first game since NFL.
- 34:30Speaker 6: I mean, it was just so much stuff.
- 34:31Speaker 5: It was.
- 34:32Speaker 6: It was a great opening weekend.
- 34:35Speaker 5: So you know, maybe we could just start with our
- 34:37Speaker 5: local teams because you know, we had we had two big,
- 34:40Speaker 5: big games going on with WVU and Marshall and I'll
- 34:44Speaker 5: just throw this out here to you guys, but you know,
- 34:46Speaker 5: I just felt like let's start with WU. You know,
- 34:50Speaker 5: they they looked the second half like they're they're going
- 34:53Speaker 5: to have a decent season.
- 34:54Speaker 2: Now.
- 34:54Speaker 5: The first half they had the fumbles, they had like
- 34:56Speaker 5: three fumbles. You know, once they worked out the kinks
- 34:59Speaker 5: of that. They were kind of in control. Marshall and Athens,
- 35:02Speaker 5: we just can't they were out of control. It was
- 35:05Speaker 5: it was just an ugly game. What were your thoughts
- 35:08Speaker 5: on those games?
- 35:09Speaker 4: I mean, you know, it's kind of hard to tell
- 35:11Speaker 4: because you have one team WVU, who was clearly, you know,
- 35:15Speaker 4: a dominant team to an FCS opponent, and then you
- 35:19Speaker 4: have Marshall who was clearly outclassed by FBS opponent. So
- 35:24Speaker 4: it's one of them situations in which I don't really
- 35:26Speaker 4: know what you have right now. So I think it's
- 35:29Speaker 4: going to be like once you get into lead player,
- 35:31Speaker 4: once you get two opponents who are you kind of
- 35:34Speaker 4: on your same level, if you will, then you'll be
- 35:37Speaker 4: able to kind of see what it is. Because even
- 35:39Speaker 4: to the point where like Marshall, they beat Notre Dame
- 35:41Speaker 4: a couple of years, they played all the way up
- 35:43Speaker 4: and then once they got the conference, you really kind
- 35:45Speaker 4: of saw who they were. So even a loss or
- 35:47Speaker 4: win at that higher level, I don't really know if
- 35:50Speaker 4: it tells you anything. So I didn't really get much
- 35:52Speaker 4: out of that, And a lot of times in the
- 35:54Speaker 4: first week you got quote money games. Oh for sure,
- 35:58Speaker 4: somebody Marshall. Marshall's definitely was in money. They were both
- 36:02Speaker 4: wearing money games. W was playing Marshall, and I think
- 36:10Speaker 4: the coach understands that how this game is going to go.
- 36:14Speaker 4: You know, now, does is there a chance that you
- 36:16Speaker 4: can win the game, Yes, but if you you're not
- 36:19Speaker 4: taking that game, if you don't have the money, yeah, you.
- 36:22Speaker 5: Know, and Marshall, in all fairness to them, I mean,
- 36:24Speaker 5: I totally agree. We don't know what they'll look like
- 36:26Speaker 5: in conference play either. Either team lost their whole team,
- 36:29Speaker 5: but they lost their whole team and they have a
- 36:31Speaker 5: brand new coaching staff and they walk into the lions
- 36:33Speaker 5: Den first game. I mean, that was That's a tough,
- 36:35Speaker 5: tough thing and most teams couldn't hang with Georgia.
- 36:37Speaker 4: And that's the thing I watched Saturday. I literally watched
- 36:41Speaker 4: football from noon to midnight, and I watched Southern Miss
- 36:44Speaker 4: so I've got to I got to see Marshall ye down.
- 36:49Speaker 2: So I said.
- 36:50Speaker 6: They were wearing green and white, so.
- 36:52Speaker 4: They might as well just had a little green on.
- 36:53Speaker 4: So I got to see them a little bit. But
- 36:55Speaker 4: you know, I don't know what we got. But you know,
- 36:57Speaker 4: like I said, outside of those two games, was some
- 37:00Speaker 4: huge games. We had Texas and Ohio State arch manning.
- 37:04Speaker 4: He looked, he looked very uncomfortable for three of the
- 37:07Speaker 4: four quarters, very uncomfortable. Yes, again again, i'd I'll say
- 37:12Speaker 4: the same thing. You don't know what you really have.
- 37:14Speaker 4: I think you know that first game, Jitters, they're playing
- 37:17Speaker 4: in the big house. Well they're playing Ohio State, and
- 37:20Speaker 4: you know, I think he's going to be good later.
- 37:23Speaker 4: But he definitely looked a little shake. And you know
- 37:25Speaker 4: what everybody's going to do is everybody's going depress it.
- 37:29Speaker 2: Everybody's gonna come in attacking Blitze and make.
- 37:32Speaker 6: Him uncomfortably happen.
- 37:33Speaker 4: Yeah, he because if he has a chance to be great,
- 37:37Speaker 4: we're not going to give it to you on our
- 37:39Speaker 4: on our watch. We're gonna make you as uncomfortable as
- 37:43Speaker 4: we possibly can. And then once you see that on
- 37:45Speaker 4: film of how you responded to that, Oh, we're definitely
- 37:50Speaker 4: gonna do that. But I think he'll be better. I
- 37:52Speaker 4: think because he's going to watch the film too. The highlight,
- 37:54Speaker 4: his highlight was he had about ten commercials.
- 37:57Speaker 6: Yes, and I always was the strong.
- 38:02Speaker 4: Let me let me say something about that. Okay, here's
- 38:05Speaker 4: here's my problem. With with with a player having a
- 38:09Speaker 4: commercial during a game that he's playing.
- 38:13Speaker 2: I just don't see how that's.
- 38:15Speaker 4: You know, because ethical just it just doesn't just seem
- 38:18Speaker 4: it just doesn't seem right to me. It is coaches
- 38:24Speaker 4: got commercials during the game. I just I guess I'm
- 38:28Speaker 4: too old school to to to think that that's something
- 38:32Speaker 4: that's okay. And I don't want to change the subject,
- 38:35Speaker 4: but I just like, I just don't see the idea.
- 38:39Speaker 6: Do we see that typically in college football though?
- 38:41Speaker 2: I mean I've seen it a lot last year.
- 38:45Speaker 5: Reason maybe because of the of the you know, so
- 38:48Speaker 5: many of them. Maybe that's why it kind of caught
- 38:50Speaker 5: my attention this time. But I don't remember as many
- 38:52Speaker 5: last year.
- 38:52Speaker 4: I think, I want to say, Jayden, well not last year,
- 38:54Speaker 4: maybe the year before is when I started to see.
- 38:56Speaker 4: I want to say, like Jayde and Daniels had like
- 38:58Speaker 4: a power Aide commercial. So I've started seeing. But I
- 39:01Speaker 4: think this is going to be the norm. I mean,
- 39:03Speaker 4: because this is when you're going to sell the products.
- 39:05Speaker 4: So if you're looking for your return on investment, I
- 39:07Speaker 4: want to have the commercial when the kids playing, when
- 39:09Speaker 4: the eyes are watching.
- 39:10Speaker 5: And now that they have that cap that's the way
- 39:12Speaker 5: the players are going to make most of their money.
- 39:14Speaker 4: And I like this better. To me, I like this better.
- 39:17Speaker 4: There's just some collective just paying. Yeah, you know, like
- 39:20Speaker 4: at the very least, this is a true NIL. If
- 39:22Speaker 4: I'm going to promote products and use my name, image
- 39:24Speaker 4: and likeness, I like it. So I don't mind it
- 39:26Speaker 4: at all.
- 39:27Speaker 5: I don't like it during the same game they're playing,
- 39:29Speaker 5: I don't like that part. Yeah, that's how Yeah, I mean,
- 39:33Speaker 5: the fans of the players.
- 39:34Speaker 6: Are going to be watching.
- 39:34Speaker 4: That's where you're going to get the most most because
- 39:37Speaker 4: I think if you have an NIL, even at West Virginia,
- 39:39Speaker 4: how it's set up. If I'm a company and if
- 39:42Speaker 4: i got some superstar athlete, then I'm trying to promote
- 39:45Speaker 4: I have him in my shirt, on my clothes. I'm
- 39:48Speaker 4: going to have the commercial when they when they're playing,
- 39:51Speaker 4: I want to I want that spot. So the people
- 39:53Speaker 4: who are watching them, Oh that's so and so he's
- 39:55Speaker 4: playing the game. Let me go buy.
- 39:57Speaker 5: You know, what do you guys think about FSU upsetting Alabama?
- 40:00Speaker 6: Those fans they're big mad. Yeah, they're big mad.
- 40:03Speaker 5: I've seen some videos that were pretty hilarious on social
- 40:06Speaker 5: media about how the fans are reacting.
- 40:08Speaker 4: Yeah, I think that's it's big for for to say
- 40:10Speaker 4: I love the parody like of college football. To me,
- 40:14Speaker 4: that's why I like this weekend of college football because
- 40:17Speaker 4: it really showed parody. We don't necessarily know who's going
- 40:20Speaker 4: to be good, we don't know who's going to be bad.
- 40:22Speaker 4: There was obsess to this army got you know, it's
- 40:24Speaker 4: all these upsetting, all these things happening. So it really
- 40:27Speaker 4: sets it up for these next twelve or so weeks
- 40:30Speaker 4: to say, you know, we really get to watch this
- 40:33Speaker 4: soaproper playout. Let me ask this question to both of
- 40:35Speaker 4: you all to be a positive potential positive response on nil.
- 40:43Speaker 4: Do you think this structure is based off of nil
- 40:47Speaker 4: and why these games are so close and teams are
- 40:49Speaker 4: upsetting other teams? Is it because of nil? Or do
- 40:54Speaker 4: you think it's just is it just in spite of it?
- 40:57Speaker 4: I don't think it has anything to do with nil,
- 40:59Speaker 4: I think, well I say that, let me take that back.
- 41:01Speaker 4: I think it has to do with just a transfer portal,
- 41:03Speaker 4: because like if you're like for example, even if like
- 41:06Speaker 4: if you're coach Belichick, you're coaching the Tar Hills back
- 41:10Speaker 4: in the day, he would have had the opera He's
- 41:12Speaker 4: gonna If he had a seventy eighty man roster, he
- 41:15Speaker 4: probably would have had seventy players from the year before,
- 41:18Speaker 4: so he could have went back watched the tape of
- 41:20Speaker 4: all those guys see exactly what they had, and he
- 41:22Speaker 4: would have been able to implement a plan moving forward
- 41:25Speaker 4: to capitalize on the strengths and weaknesses. But now you
- 41:28Speaker 4: got forty guys coming in from forty different places, so
- 41:32Speaker 4: it's hard to you know. And to your point, NIL
- 41:36Speaker 4: may have something to do that if I can get
- 41:38Speaker 4: a better deal here or there.
- 41:39Speaker 5: So and did they implement the rule this year this
- 41:43Speaker 5: year with the cap of nil the twenty million for
- 41:46Speaker 5: each school?
- 41:47Speaker 6: Was it twenty or twenty five million?
- 41:49Speaker 4: I think that's from what I understand. I don't know
- 41:52Speaker 4: if it's gonna be implemented this year or next.
- 41:54Speaker 5: Year, okay, because I was thinking maybe that could make
- 41:55Speaker 5: a difference, and you know what we're seeing. I was
- 41:58Speaker 5: pleasantly shocked to see the upsets and the games being
- 42:02Speaker 5: as close as they were, because we're all used to
- 42:04Speaker 5: seeing the SEC teams just come in and dominate, and
- 42:08Speaker 5: it wasn't that way this weekend. So you know, I'm
- 42:12Speaker 5: kind of, you know, optimistic. I could say that maybe
- 42:15Speaker 5: this season it won't be as you know, divided into
- 42:18Speaker 5: the halves and the have nots.
- 42:20Speaker 4: Yeah, and I like it that way. I don't like
- 42:21Speaker 4: I mean everybody. I mean, if you talk to anybody
- 42:23Speaker 4: in South, of course, they want the SEC to dominate.
- 42:25Speaker 4: I don't like that. I don't like when you have
- 42:27Speaker 4: one conference just running through everybody. I like when the
- 42:31Speaker 4: ACC is good and Big twelve, you know, the Big twelve.
- 42:33Speaker 4: I like when you know, we don't know who's gonna
- 42:36Speaker 4: come out of what. I want to see a good
- 42:38Speaker 4: mix in the playoffs. So we what is it, twelve teams?
- 42:40Speaker 4: So if you have twelve teams, I want to see
- 42:42Speaker 4: them spread out among conferences, you know, outside of the
- 42:44Speaker 4: four champions. All right, let me so I'm gonna I'm
- 42:46Speaker 4: going to ask this question to both of you and
- 42:48Speaker 4: see if you think this would to get to get
- 42:51Speaker 4: to what I think you want. What if NIL was
- 42:57Speaker 4: let's say capped at just the random number a million dollars,
- 43:02Speaker 4: so every team has a million dollars that can spend
- 43:06Speaker 4: on an il.
- 43:07Speaker 2: I think that's the way it's gonna be moving, It's
- 43:09Speaker 2: gonna be moving. Do you think that.
- 43:11Speaker 4: Do you think that in its own right can help
- 43:14Speaker 4: balance out the team? I don't think nil is the issue.
- 43:18Speaker 4: The issue is the movement, the transferring of the players.
- 43:21Speaker 4: But I'm transferring because I'm getting more money. You may
- 43:24Speaker 4: or you may not be right, so I think. But
- 43:26Speaker 4: even if you can only you know if you had
- 43:29Speaker 4: a lout one transfer something today that I was watching
- 43:31Speaker 4: something online. This kid is quarterback. He'd been to six
- 43:34Speaker 4: different schools. See that's that makes no sense. So I
- 43:37Speaker 4: think it's the movement that that hurts the continuity because
- 43:40Speaker 4: to your point, which and I'm kind of contradicting myself,
- 43:43Speaker 4: but it's a good thing and a bad thing because.
- 43:45Speaker 6: Now they need to limit it.
- 43:47Speaker 4: Yeah, but now Alabama does doesn't get the stock up
- 43:50Speaker 4: players you know, all have to work to get. They
- 43:53Speaker 4: got to work to get them. So now if I'm
- 43:54Speaker 4: that third string running back and I may be getting two, three,
- 43:57Speaker 4: four touches a game, I can go to the next
- 44:00Speaker 4: school at the same level. I ain't gotta go down.
- 44:02Speaker 4: I can go to l s U. I can go
- 44:04Speaker 4: to Michigan State, I can go somewhere else.
- 44:06Speaker 6: They can also work against the team.
- 44:07Speaker 5: You know what I mean in combination with the nil
- 44:10Speaker 5: because we've talked about this, the Marshall team in the
- 44:12Speaker 5: nineties with with Chad Pennington and Randy Moussel that would
- 44:15Speaker 5: have never existed in this day and age of transfer
- 44:17Speaker 5: portal combined within il, it can be a good and
- 44:21Speaker 5: it can be negative.
- 44:21Speaker 4: See, and I don't and to that point, Lisa like,
- 44:24Speaker 4: I don't think that that's that's a good thing because
- 44:28Speaker 4: those guys ended up well at least for sure, Randy
- 44:31Speaker 4: dropped into Marshall, right, and now he drops there because
- 44:36Speaker 4: if coach brewittt now the question is if that's today, Yeah,
- 44:41Speaker 4: he would. Does coach Brewitt have the funds to to
- 44:45Speaker 4: attract him?
- 44:46Speaker 2: Yeah? And I'm going to say, no, what other games
- 44:49Speaker 2: do we have?
- 44:50Speaker 6: Let's see. So there was fsu.
- 44:52Speaker 5: I said, oh, let's talk about Bill Belichick man and
- 44:56Speaker 5: the u n C against TCU.
- 44:58Speaker 6: So tell us, tell us what your thoughts.
- 45:00Speaker 4: I'm gonna record and say it. I think he's and
- 45:02Speaker 4: this is going to be blasphemy. He's an overrated coach,
- 45:06Speaker 4: I think again. And that's and that's unbelievable to say
- 45:09Speaker 4: about a seven time Super Bowl champion. But I think
- 45:12Speaker 4: if you look at Bill Belichick's record, outside of Bill
- 45:15Speaker 4: Parcells and outside of Tom Brady, he's average, mediocre best
- 45:19Speaker 4: as a coach, and I and I do and I
- 45:22Speaker 4: don't see a situation in which, again and again it's
- 45:25Speaker 4: a little disadvantage in my eyes, where you have a
- 45:27Speaker 4: basically a whole new team because of and all that.
- 45:30Speaker 4: But I don't see a situation in which the tar
- 45:32Speaker 4: Hills are going to be good this year and I
- 45:34Speaker 4: think he's going to be gone in two to three.
- 45:37Speaker 2: That's my mold. I think. So I think, I don't think.
- 45:41Speaker 4: I think again, outside of Bill Parcels and Tom Brady,
- 45:45Speaker 4: he's not a good he's a he's an average head coach.
- 45:49Speaker 5: And you know, it could be that tcu' is that good,
- 45:52Speaker 5: I mean, has been good for a while, so you know,
- 45:54Speaker 5: we may be seeing something that you know, maybe some
- 45:58Speaker 5: previews of championships at the you know, conferences level conference levels.
- 46:02Speaker 5: But you and C I mean, it's like you said,
- 46:04Speaker 5: it's way too early. You can't really say whether or not,
- 46:07Speaker 5: you know, U n C is gonna be good or
- 46:09Speaker 5: not good, and same for TCU.
- 46:11Speaker 6: But TCU look pretty strong. They did, they dominated I don't.
- 46:14Speaker 4: Know how good un c Again, you can't tell anything
- 46:18Speaker 4: you know, so we'll see.
- 46:19Speaker 2: See.
- 46:20Speaker 4: So now I'm gonna pose this question back at you, Hollis,
- 46:24Speaker 4: So is it the coach?
- 46:26Speaker 2: Is it the team? No, it's a coach. I strongly.
- 46:30Speaker 4: The more I've watched football, I ain't even saying football,
- 46:33Speaker 4: the more I watch team sports, even individual sports. You
- 46:37Speaker 4: take wrestlers, can you know? Or MMA guys can go
- 46:39Speaker 4: from one level to the next with the trainer or whatever.
- 46:42Speaker 4: I think it has a lot to do with coaching.
- 46:44Speaker 4: Coaching is everything, particularly at a collegiate level. If you
- 46:48Speaker 4: the better your coach is, the better your team is
- 46:50Speaker 4: going to be. If you drop off Nick Saban right
- 46:53Speaker 4: now in North Carolina, by they might lose a couple
- 46:56Speaker 4: coming out because he has to adjust. I'm talking about
- 46:58Speaker 4: if you drop him off today and by by you know,
- 47:02Speaker 4: week six are going to be looking like a championship team.
- 47:05Speaker 4: I think it has to do it. We've just seen
- 47:07Speaker 4: it too much. Coaches go and coaches win everywhere. I
- 47:10Speaker 4: don't see. Okay, I'm gonna agree in part with you,
- 47:15Speaker 4: but who could possibly have ever stepped into Nick Saban's job?
- 47:22Speaker 2: I'm just no but I'm just saying.
- 47:26Speaker 4: Who would be I would never take that job, not
- 47:29Speaker 4: that they would ever offer it, but I'm just saying.
- 47:31Speaker 2: But you know what I'm saying. Right after Nick Saber,
- 47:33Speaker 2: I know you're talking about the money. Do you think
- 47:36Speaker 2: that job?
- 47:38Speaker 4: He got ten million a year? Yeah, sign me up.
- 47:43Speaker 4: Let's go ahead, let's go ahead, get the staff together.
- 47:46Speaker 4: But but what kind of I mean, that's big, big,
- 47:54Speaker 4: big shoes to feel somebody. But I'm just saying, you
- 47:58Speaker 4: think that? Do you do you think that they have
- 48:00Speaker 4: the Do you think Alabama within the next couple of
- 48:04Speaker 4: years will be back to where they know? Because I
- 48:07Speaker 4: think what that coach stepped into, not only again we
- 48:09Speaker 4: talked about it just previously, he stepped not only into
- 48:13Speaker 4: Nick Saban's shoes, but he also stepped into the transfer portal.
- 48:16Speaker 4: So again, I think that's why Nick. I think Nick
- 48:18Speaker 4: Saban will probably be coaching right now. But not for
- 48:20Speaker 4: that because you don't get to stack talent.
- 48:23Speaker 5: So, in all fairness, should Alabama had even been ranked
- 48:26Speaker 5: at number eight to start the season.
- 48:27Speaker 2: You think decent last year? It's Alabama? So they still working.
- 48:30Speaker 5: Up the cash, right, I mean, I'm just taking into
- 48:33Speaker 5: effect everything else.
- 48:37Speaker 4: All right, So all right, let's let's let's switch gears
- 48:41Speaker 4: and let's come down a little bit.
- 48:43Speaker 2: Let's come a little bit more local.
- 48:46Speaker 4: Coach Mays was hoping to get on tonight, but I
- 48:49Speaker 4: don't think he had football practice, so we can excuse
- 48:51Speaker 4: him for that. But I'm curious about one of the
- 48:56Speaker 4: things I wanted to Let's set it up South Charleston.
- 48:59Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, so South Charleston has come back to a coach. Well,
- 49:05Speaker 2: hold up, they got their first win.
- 49:06Speaker 4: They got their first win, I guess two three seasons,
- 49:10Speaker 4: three seasons, so I think it's like a thousand some days.
- 49:12Speaker 4: They got their first win, Okay, and it was against
- 49:15Speaker 4: Ripley and Mary Yes and Hill Mary yes.
- 49:20Speaker 2: Yes. I'm wondering.
- 49:24Speaker 4: Okay, all the all the respect for coach Mays as
- 49:28Speaker 4: the coach and stepping into you know, the first game,
- 49:31Speaker 4: winning the game, winning his first game back at South Charleston,
- 49:36Speaker 4: my question is going forward, do you think that South
- 49:44Speaker 4: Charleston is going to be able to be the South
- 49:48Speaker 4: Charleston that we kind of have remembered with Coach Mays?
- 49:52Speaker 2: Can he rebuild this and become the old South Trust
- 49:57Speaker 2: like this season? I'm asking how long I think you
- 50:00Speaker 2: give him a couple of seasons. Even next season, I
- 50:03Speaker 2: think he can. I don't.
- 50:04Speaker 4: I think just to expect it this season that'd be lofty.
- 50:08Speaker 4: But I think, you know, they already over the hump,
- 50:11Speaker 4: you know, winning that game, because when you go, I mean,
- 50:13Speaker 4: some of these kids, they haven't. This is their first
- 50:16Speaker 4: win in high school and they've been at the program
- 50:18Speaker 4: for two and three years. So I think that you know,
- 50:21Speaker 4: not only was this a good win, I'm so like
- 50:24Speaker 4: I'm elated for the kids. I'm elated for the community.
- 50:27Speaker 4: I represent a part of that community. So this is
- 50:29Speaker 4: just a big thing that we can you know, you
- 50:32Speaker 4: can get that monkey off your back and you can,
- 50:33Speaker 4: you know, start to move forward. So I think that
- 50:36Speaker 4: he and his staff and the kids, they'll be able
- 50:39Speaker 4: to to bring this thing back because you know, like
- 50:42Speaker 4: I said, winning begets winning. And with our transfer rules here,
- 50:46Speaker 4: you know, within the state of West Virginia, those kids
- 50:48Speaker 4: coming out of South Charleston and Dumbar they have the
- 50:51Speaker 4: freedom to go where they want. But I think if
- 50:53Speaker 4: they see some progress moving at the high school, they'll
- 50:56Speaker 4: be more adapt to stay local as opposed to transfer.
- 50:59Speaker 4: I think I think all so I think some of
- 51:00Speaker 4: the kids that he has touched in Putnam.
- 51:03Speaker 2: County, Yeah, maybe maybe.
- 51:05Speaker 4: May also may come because they like how he coaches
- 51:09Speaker 4: his style and they already know all of that.
- 51:12Speaker 2: So you could also get.
- 51:13Speaker 4: That, which could which could be next year, next year,
- 51:17Speaker 4: could be some maybe this year already.
- 51:19Speaker 2: I don't.
- 51:20Speaker 4: I don't really know yet. Yeah, man, I just like
- 51:22Speaker 4: I said, I'm just I'm a I'm a lady. And
- 51:24Speaker 4: it's like I said, you not only do you win
- 51:26Speaker 4: your first game in about two three seasons, but you
- 51:28Speaker 4: win it on a hell Mary, you know what I mean.
- 51:30Speaker 4: So it's just like the we talked about drama this weekend.
- 51:33Speaker 4: That's like trauma on drama.
- 51:35Speaker 2: You know, well, he.
- 51:36Speaker 6: High school drama.
- 51:37Speaker 4: He had mentioned to me earlier that like, he's not
- 51:44Speaker 4: the offensive coordinator, So he's not. I don't think he's
- 51:48Speaker 4: being the offensive coordinator anymore. I think he's passing that
- 51:51Speaker 4: on and being quote what you would call the true
- 51:53Speaker 4: head coach, which I think what he wants to What
- 51:58Speaker 4: my guess is he's doing that is he wants to
- 52:01Speaker 4: actually be the leader of that team and not necessarily
- 52:04Speaker 4: have to do the offense or do the defense, special
- 52:06Speaker 4: teams or whatever, but be the leader of that team
- 52:09Speaker 4: and pump that group up and maybe and he may
- 52:13Speaker 4: be able to do that. And I and I personally,
- 52:15Speaker 4: I just, you know, just like I said, my role,
- 52:18Speaker 4: I'm not you know, obviously I'm not coaching anymore. But
- 52:20Speaker 4: I get to see, you know, I have conversations at
- 52:22Speaker 4: a different level with a lot of the coaches around here,
- 52:25Speaker 4: and I just don't see how you would be a
- 52:27Speaker 4: head coach and you know, call players or call defense,
- 52:31Speaker 4: just because I understand now administratively sort of what it
- 52:35Speaker 4: takes to even run a good high school program.
- 52:37Speaker 2: It's not cheap to do.
- 52:38Speaker 4: You gotta run, you gotta a fundraise, you gotta manage personalities,
- 52:42Speaker 4: you manage and not only the players, you managing your
- 52:45Speaker 4: coaching staff. You gotta deal with grades and the school.
- 52:47Speaker 4: And black people have no idea.
- 52:51Speaker 2: What it takes.
- 52:53Speaker 4: It's to coach football period, coach sports period.
- 52:57Speaker 2: But I think football is a different beings. I think
- 52:59Speaker 2: it is too.
- 53:00Speaker 4: I think it is with the number of players that
- 53:02Speaker 4: you have, the number of coaches, number of coaches that
- 53:04Speaker 4: you have, managing the coaches, managing the team, all of that.
- 53:09Speaker 4: That's that's a tough and it's a reason why, like
- 53:11Speaker 4: football leagues fold like all the ones who try to
- 53:14Speaker 4: not necessarily compete with the NFL, but try to be
- 53:16Speaker 4: professional organizations because it takes so much. Because football you
- 53:19Speaker 4: can't this ain't like basketball. But you can't go out
- 53:21Speaker 4: there with two three ds. Now, you got to have.
- 53:24Speaker 2: At least six, maybe ten dudes to help you like
- 53:27Speaker 2: do this thing. Yes, yeah, you know, and trainers and
- 53:30Speaker 2: all that.
- 53:30Speaker 5: Yeah, and trainers and you know, and going back to
- 53:33Speaker 5: your point, hollis about you know, coaches are one of
- 53:35Speaker 5: the most, if not the most important part of a
- 53:38Speaker 5: winning team, you know. I mean Donnie has a history
- 53:41Speaker 5: of it. I mean he wanted South Charleston, he left,
- 53:44Speaker 5: he went to Hurricane and they were six. He was
- 53:47Speaker 5: successful there. I think he was like twenty seven and ten.
- 53:50Speaker 6: Yeah, you know, while he was there for those three years.
- 53:52Speaker 5: And now he's back and you know he's just he's
- 53:56Speaker 5: got away with the kids.
- 53:57Speaker 4: And coaching matters, like I just like, you can't understate it.
- 54:01Speaker 4: It doesn't people don't they give they's like they blame
- 54:04Speaker 4: the coach, but they don't also give the coach enough credit.
- 54:07Speaker 4: Even till it's like I was talking crap about Bill Pelichick.
- 54:10Speaker 4: He's a part of those seven champions. If he's not there,
- 54:12Speaker 4: they don't win seven rings, you know what I mean.
- 54:14Speaker 4: So I'm not trying to discount that, but like, if
- 54:17Speaker 4: you got the right mix of players and the right timing,
- 54:20Speaker 4: a good coach can really elevate that thing. So how
- 54:25Speaker 4: how how quick? How quick do you think this South trust?
- 54:29Speaker 4: Then change will come? I think you give him another year,
- 54:32Speaker 4: like a year. I think I think next year they'll
- 54:35Speaker 4: find themselves in the playoffs, depending because I know they're
- 54:38Speaker 4: still a fairly young team. I think this year to me,
- 54:41Speaker 4: like I said, you kind of already won because you
- 54:43Speaker 4: won a game.
- 54:44Speaker 2: I know that sounds like yo, yeah.
- 54:45Speaker 4: That sounds petty, but I mean I think you know,
- 54:48Speaker 4: you get you get five, you get five wins this season.
- 54:51Speaker 2: That's a very.
- 54:53Speaker 4: Good year, you know, and they could probably get at
- 54:55Speaker 4: least you know, I would say anywhere from three to five,
- 54:58Speaker 4: you know. And to your point, the players who have
- 55:01Speaker 4: been sitting there going year after year after year and
- 55:06Speaker 4: hadn't seen a victory, and all of a sudden you
- 55:09Speaker 4: see one over well at the last second of the game,
- 55:13Speaker 4: all of a sudden, Now you're thinking you're believing.
- 55:16Speaker 2: Yeah, you're believing in yourself.
- 55:18Speaker 4: And and I'll say this, and Hollis you know this,
- 55:20Speaker 4: and List you probably know this as well.
- 55:22Speaker 2: The confidence that you have in yourself is everything.
- 55:25Speaker 4: Is everything, I mean, and and you have to have
- 55:30Speaker 4: something positive in order for you to to to think
- 55:34Speaker 4: that you are something. And shout out to the kids
- 55:37Speaker 4: who stayed. You know, Bosley, he's Exavier Bosi's little brother.
- 55:42Speaker 4: Xavier plays office line for WVU and his little brothers at.
- 55:47Speaker 2: Uh.
- 55:48Speaker 4: I can't really call he bigger than me, but uh,
- 55:51Speaker 4: he's a South Charleston. He's been there since he's a
- 55:54Speaker 4: pupp He never considered leaving. He he hasn't won a game.
- 55:57Speaker 4: I think this is going to his third year.
- 55:58Speaker 2: And that shout out.
- 55:59Speaker 4: Shout out to shout out to the parents for not leaving,
- 56:02Speaker 4: because I know, like it's tempting, like because you can
- 56:05Speaker 4: go to Nitro, they're they're doing good good, you know,
- 56:07Speaker 4: So it's other programs you can go to in close proximity.
- 56:10Speaker 4: So I just, like I said, this was stuck it out,
- 56:13Speaker 4: stuck it out, man, and this is a big win
- 56:15Speaker 4: for the community. And I just I just truly don't
- 56:17Speaker 4: think that leaving in school that all your friends are there,
- 56:24Speaker 4: you know, you're familiar with everything because of a sport,
- 56:29Speaker 4: you want to leave and go somewhere else. I just,
- 56:31Speaker 4: I just I just don't know how to even fathom
- 56:34Speaker 4: that in my head. And maybe because I'm so old
- 56:38Speaker 4: that that could that would.
- 56:39Speaker 6: Never It's a whole different general, that's a whole different process.
- 56:42Speaker 5: But I'm just gonna say they have social media, they
- 56:46Speaker 5: have they don't need to.
- 56:49Speaker 6: See each other in person.
- 56:50Speaker 5: That they see each other all the time, probably more
- 56:52Speaker 5: than we did with our friends in school.
- 56:55Speaker 4: But I will say to your point, for those kids
- 56:57Speaker 4: who've been there, like think of a senior who's one
- 57:00Speaker 4: and maybe one game and then won this one unbelievable
- 57:03Speaker 4: just to say like dang, we was we have one
- 57:05Speaker 4: for three season and we want to they'll have that
- 57:07Speaker 4: story and they'll have that camaraderie. Even if this season
- 57:10Speaker 4: they don't make the playoffs, they'll still they'll have that
- 57:13Speaker 4: thing like we did this and you know we was
- 57:16Speaker 4: able to overcome and we went from like you know,
- 57:18Speaker 4: thirty and oh whatever we were over to thirty to
- 57:21Speaker 4: now we maybe won two, three, four, five games.
- 57:23Speaker 2: So they'll have.
- 57:23Speaker 4: That and and I love just hearing you talk about
- 57:28Speaker 4: that was like I was like over here just thinking, like, man,
- 57:32Speaker 4: I can I understand exactly what you're talking about.
- 57:35Speaker 2: Like you want a game.
- 57:37Speaker 4: We won a game, and we may not win anything else,
- 57:40Speaker 4: but man, we got that one and we were close
- 57:42Speaker 4: in that one.
- 57:43Speaker 2: If you if you have that kind of mindset, man,
- 57:46Speaker 2: you'll have those members. You'll have those.
- 57:50Speaker 6: Those are the ones.
- 57:51Speaker 4: But like I said, I had off to the they
- 57:55Speaker 4: win some more.
- 57:55Speaker 2: Man. I love to see us go to the playoffs
- 57:57Speaker 2: and ship out of too.
- 57:58Speaker 4: All right, well, ladies and gentlemen, I hope you enjoyed
- 58:00Speaker 4: the show and we're gonna get out of here.
