- 0:25Speaker 2: Pokas Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered.
- 0:33Speaker 4: It was a real debt. I mean the cowboys just
- 0:35Speaker 4: went right after it, like right out of the gate,
- 0:37Speaker 4: you know, no messing around. Eleven personnel.
- 0:41Speaker 5: Here we got a good Okay, here we go.
- 0:44Speaker 1: Whatever happened to down set? Jim is in San Francisco.
- 0:47Speaker 1: What's up, Jim? Yeah, yep, yeah, Okay, here we go.
- 0:53Speaker 5: My kids go to the same school as Ben Johnson's kids.
- 0:55Speaker 6: At the school play, Ben Jonson.
- 0:57Speaker 7: Got up right in front and said, everyone watch my child.
- 1:00Speaker 7: Ben Johnson is not the guy that you guys want.
- 1:02Speaker 8: To start hurting.
- 1:04Speaker 5: Okay, Well, the rest of the league disagrees with you.
- 1:09Speaker 5: That was weird, Like I care about a school play? Well,
- 1:12Speaker 5: I mean, I don't know what please. The greatest coach's
- 1:15Speaker 5: ever been in the league is the Patriots coach for
- 1:17Speaker 5: the last twenty five years. A personality is not necessarily
- 1:20Speaker 5: high on his list.
- 1:21Speaker 1: I want to hear more and they need all the
- 1:22Speaker 1: help they can get.
- 1:23Speaker 9: It sounds like they need a new cadence.
- 1:26Speaker 10: This is Patriots Unfiltered, presented by Toyota's official website for
- 1:31Speaker 10: deals by a Toyota dot com.
- 1:35Speaker 1: All right, welcome to Patriots Unfiltered. It's Thursday here at
- 1:39Speaker 1: Jillette Stadium, our last show of the week. Always a
- 1:42Speaker 1: good one. We've got more of what we've been talking
- 1:45Speaker 1: about all week, getting ready for the Saints. We've got
- 1:48Speaker 1: picks coming in later halftime. PU We're going to be
- 1:52Speaker 1: giving away another poster series, so I should probably take
- 1:55Speaker 1: the time to show that right now. We've been creating
- 1:58Speaker 1: these original posts is for every home game, done by
- 2:02Speaker 1: a local artist. Each one is unique, only two hundred
- 2:06Speaker 1: and seventy five from each game, numbered and signed by
- 2:08Speaker 1: the artist. This one happens to be one thirty two
- 2:11Speaker 1: of two seventy five. Here's the certificate of authenticity that
- 2:15Speaker 1: goes with it. And uh, if this were all legible, Yeah,
- 2:20Speaker 1: but so this is what you can win and the
- 2:23Speaker 1: PU halftime show otherwise known as the show within a show.
- 2:26Speaker 11: Maybe you could put a little mustard stain on that
- 2:27Speaker 11: during lunch today, just you know a little special.
- 2:30Speaker 5: Yeah, you might want to move that water.
- 2:31Speaker 1: Yeah, we got to keep it pristine because it's one
- 2:34Speaker 1: of the laminated. Yeah, so I just want to show.
- 2:37Speaker 1: I'll hold it up one more time so people can
- 2:40Speaker 1: see it. But then I want, oh, you just ripped it.
- 2:42Speaker 1: I want Matt Morrell to get rid of it so
- 2:43Speaker 1: that when I Paul's food gets here, we don't get
- 2:46Speaker 1: it all over.
- 2:47Speaker 5: That was well, that was well done right there. That
- 2:49Speaker 5: was well done. I'm just you found a different way
- 2:52Speaker 5: to do it.
- 2:53Speaker 1: Okay, all right, got to keep it for thank you, Matt.
- 2:55Speaker 1: I got to keep it, thank you, Matt. So you
- 2:56Speaker 1: can win that at halftime of this show. Uh. And
- 3:02Speaker 1: like I said, there's one unique one for each home game,
- 3:04Speaker 1: so collect them all. All right? What do we got?
- 3:09Speaker 8: J C.
- 3:09Speaker 1: Jackson is going to be practicing today.
- 3:11Speaker 4: You think he's here, he's here, per Larrence guy. Okay,
- 3:15Speaker 4: let the Canada of the bag on that one a little.
- 3:16Speaker 1: Bit, all right?
- 3:17Speaker 9: He said he's wearing a blazer.
- 3:19Speaker 4: Yeah, I said, he's looking nice looking, looking ready to go.
- 3:23Speaker 9: He didn't come from court, did he.
- 3:25Speaker 5: Oh wow, that cool friend. You did bring that up yesterday,
- 3:30Speaker 5: not on air, but.
- 3:31Speaker 9: I mean he's got like some that like a speeding tic.
- 3:36Speaker 1: Figure.
- 3:37Speaker 5: Oh no, like I don't think he did anything quote
- 3:39Speaker 5: unquote you know, dramatically wrong.
- 3:41Speaker 1: Who among us haven't had a fort.
- 3:44Speaker 5: No, what's speeding to he got? It was yeah, Yeah,
- 3:47Speaker 5: that's all I'm saying. It's not like he had a
- 3:49Speaker 5: domestic violence.
- 3:50Speaker 9: That's why. That's why I felt all right, making a
- 3:52Speaker 9: small has.
- 3:53Speaker 4: Already gotten it thrown out.
- 3:54Speaker 1: It's fine. So what else we got?
- 3:57Speaker 5: Who's to say he was speeding?
- 3:59Speaker 1: You'll lose us.
- 4:00Speaker 5: What else we got we got?
- 4:01Speaker 10: No?
- 4:01Speaker 11: Tykwon Thornton. We did see him in the locker room yesterday, man,
- 4:03Speaker 11: I was like, what the hell? Man, I thought you
- 4:04Speaker 11: were gonna be out there And I didn't actually say that.
- 4:06Speaker 1: But yeah, And we were hoping that even though Evan
- 4:09Speaker 1: didn't see him when he was out there, that he
- 4:11Speaker 1: might have popped up later in the practice and shown
- 4:13Speaker 1: up as a Yeah.
- 4:16Speaker 5: I was hoping, but I don't think that happened.
- 4:18Speaker 1: Maybe today, Yeah, maybe today you never know, you never
- 4:21Speaker 1: took be weird.
- 4:21Speaker 9: Like why today not yesterday? Like I means, yeah, I
- 4:25Speaker 9: got to retest him or something.
- 4:26Speaker 5: So I do think And I made a comment yesterday
- 4:29Speaker 5: about when guys are they begin practicing, you know, and
- 4:33Speaker 5: I think Evan you said it goes on the wire
- 4:35Speaker 5: as the clock has begun and whatnot. But in the
- 4:38Speaker 5: past you didn't have to list those guys on the
- 4:40Speaker 5: injury report. The Patriots listed all those guys in the
- 4:42Speaker 5: injury port so that must be a change in the process.
- 4:44Speaker 9: I noticed that.
- 4:45Speaker 5: Yeah, because Cody Davis and Trey Flowers and Riley Reef
- 4:49Speaker 5: are all on the the injury report. Yeah, along with
- 4:52Speaker 5: pretty much every other player who's ever played in the Patriots. Yeah,
- 4:56Speaker 5: it's a list for both.
- 4:57Speaker 1: Actually, usually the list doesn't get to that one until November.
- 5:00Speaker 1: We're starting early this year.
- 5:02Speaker 11: Well, Sean Wade was on it, so that's I guess
- 5:03Speaker 11: why part of the j C. Jackson thing too, right.
- 5:06Speaker 4: Well, he was on it last week, so to be fair,
- 5:08Speaker 4: Oh never mind, Yeah, he was questionable for the game
- 5:12Speaker 4: shoulder all right.
- 5:13Speaker 1: Well, I think of all the people that popped up knew,
- 5:19Speaker 1: I think Riley Reef has the best chance maybe that
- 5:22Speaker 1: to you know, have an impact this I guess.
- 5:25Speaker 11: I just I mean, it's like we said they started
- 5:27Speaker 11: him at right tackle and it seemed like he was
- 5:29Speaker 11: going to be the right tackle, and then what like
- 5:30Speaker 11: three days into camp, he won't the right tackle anymore.
- 5:32Speaker 11: He was at right guard, and I mean, I think
- 5:34Speaker 11: we all watched him and said, it doesn't look like
- 5:36Speaker 11: he's going to be able to handle speed off the edge.
- 5:38Speaker 11: I think Evan made good points though yesterday, like at
- 5:40Speaker 11: least he can maybe run block though, and maybe that's
- 5:43Speaker 11: like you got to just bite the bullet, and he
- 5:45Speaker 11: certainly has experience.
- 5:46Speaker 4: Yeah, so there's no way that the bar is on
- 5:50Speaker 4: the floor and right tackle in terms of pass protection.
- 5:53Speaker 4: So even if he's bad there, like, is it going
- 5:56Speaker 4: to really be worse than what they've had? I mean,
- 5:59Speaker 4: they are dead last in the league right now in
- 6:01Speaker 4: past blocking, dead last thirty second. I think there's a
- 6:05Speaker 4: statistical argument to be made that they have the worst
- 6:08Speaker 4: offensive line in the NFL. Like that that is wild,
- 6:12Speaker 4: Like a Patriots team to have the worst offensive line
- 6:15Speaker 4: in the NFL is unbelievable to me, Like that, even
- 6:20Speaker 4: in the years where they didn't have scary. They weren't
- 6:23Speaker 4: the worst offensive line in the league. Like they might
- 6:26Speaker 4: not have been as good as they were with Dante,
- 6:28Speaker 4: but they weren't that bad.
- 6:29Speaker 11: I mean, how much of it do you really put
- 6:31Speaker 11: Adrian Clem in the crosshairs? Do you put you know,
- 6:34Speaker 11: just a new offense and maybe Adrian Clem working with
- 6:37Speaker 11: you know, new players and a new offense and Bill O'Brien,
- 6:40Speaker 11: you know, or is it just kind of come down
- 6:41Speaker 11: to the players?
- 6:42Speaker 4: I all the above, probably right. I mean, I think
- 6:45Speaker 4: Adrian Clem deserves some criticism for the fact that these
- 6:49Speaker 4: guys just aren't cutting it, and I think some of
- 6:52Speaker 4: the guys like on Winn who have have regressed. Yeah,
- 6:55Speaker 4: you know, and I understand he didn't practice in camp
- 6:58Speaker 4: for very long, but he came back towards the end
- 7:00Speaker 4: of August and he's now been playing games, and you know,
- 7:03Speaker 4: at some point you have to start to see the old.
- 7:06Speaker 11: Yeah four weeks Michael, Yeah, right, So, I you know,
- 7:09Speaker 11: it's just that's what's just bad. That's what's troubling too,
- 7:12Speaker 11: is just that some of the player, the main players
- 7:14Speaker 11: that you felt good about.
- 7:15Speaker 9: From those twenty twenty and twenty twenty.
- 7:16Speaker 11: One drafts are really kind of on the downswing right now,
- 7:19Speaker 11: between mac Ramandre Michael and when you like all these
- 7:22Speaker 11: kind of guys that you thought, I mean, I don't.
- 7:24Speaker 11: I don't know if I'm gonna put Dugger into that mix,
- 7:26Speaker 11: although I just don't really think he's that much.
- 7:28Speaker 5: It's almost like assessing a draft immediately whether it's good
- 7:32Speaker 5: or bad, isn't the right thing to do?
- 7:33Speaker 9: Yeah, wow, because you.
- 7:35Speaker 5: Never know how you know, these guys are going to unfold,
- 7:38Speaker 5: and I think a lot of times we're guilty of it.
- 7:40Speaker 5: On the positive side, you know, and I am too.
- 7:43Speaker 5: I put myself in the category. I'm in love with
- 7:45Speaker 5: Christian Gonzalez right now, just like a couple of years ago,
- 7:48Speaker 5: Barmore was my guy, and Barmore, you know, right now,
- 7:52Speaker 5: I would say Gonzales that's a huge hit. But you know,
- 7:55Speaker 5: maybe in three years it's it looks differently. Yeah, you
- 7:58Speaker 5: never know.
- 7:58Speaker 4: I look at it. I've been thinking about Dugger a
- 8:00Speaker 4: little bit, and I think, especially without Gonzales and Judan, like,
- 8:04Speaker 4: they might need to move him back to his role
- 8:07Speaker 4: last year it simply to get the playmaking out of him,
- 8:11Speaker 4: like putting him, you know, thirty yards off the line
- 8:14Speaker 4: of scrimmage. It might be what's best for the defense
- 8:17Speaker 4: as a whole, but right now you just need guys
- 8:20Speaker 4: to make plays on the ball, and leaving him so
- 8:23Speaker 4: far away from the ball really hasn't worked. So, whether
- 8:26Speaker 4: it's putting Jalen Mills back at deep safety or Adrian
- 8:32Speaker 4: Phillips or Miles Bryan or whoever it is that takes
- 8:35Speaker 4: that spot over for him, but moving Dugger back into
- 8:38Speaker 4: the box and closer to the line of scrimmage just
- 8:41Speaker 4: to get his impact back on the game because he's
- 8:43Speaker 4: been kind of non existent.
- 8:44Speaker 1: Yeah, it's so in your film study, Evan, have you
- 8:48Speaker 1: concluded that Dougger is playing the role of mccordy deep
- 8:51Speaker 1: center field.
- 8:51Speaker 4: I would say so deep center field and then on
- 8:54Speaker 4: third down like playing more at the sticks. But in
- 8:57Speaker 4: general you know him in a little bit of paper.
- 9:00Speaker 4: But Peppers has been making plays because he's been playing
- 9:03Speaker 4: close with the line of scrimmage than Dugger and has
- 9:06Speaker 4: been more at the point of attack than Kyle Dugger.
- 9:09Speaker 4: And it's not that Peppers is doing it poorly, it's
- 9:12Speaker 4: just last year you got what five six turnovers from
- 9:15Speaker 4: Kyle Dugger and a couple of defensive touchdowns and like's
- 9:19Speaker 4: you need those types of plays right now. You need
- 9:21Speaker 4: the game swinging plays that they're not getting from some
- 9:24Speaker 4: of these other guys.
- 9:25Speaker 9: Yeah, this might be a little bit of deep.
- 9:27Speaker 11: I can't I was gonna just say, I mean, Cody
- 9:30Speaker 11: Davis coming back, I wonder if that's gonna what's that
- 9:34Speaker 11: gonna do to Adrian Phillips, Because I feel like Adrian
- 9:35Speaker 11: Phillips when Cody Davis went out last year, Adrian Phillips,
- 9:38Speaker 11: we can and we can talk about whether or not
- 9:40Speaker 11: his play was declining and they wanted to pull him
- 9:41Speaker 11: off a defense, but it felt like they shifted him
- 9:44Speaker 11: more to special teams. And I just I wonder maybe
- 9:46Speaker 11: if Cody Davis comes back and they say, hey, now
- 9:48Speaker 11: we don't have to make Phillips, you know, forb with
- 9:50Speaker 11: you know all special team player.
- 9:52Speaker 9: Maybe. I don't know, though, I think.
- 9:53Speaker 5: It's the question of what is you think that's affected
- 9:55Speaker 5: as snaps on defense load.
- 9:58Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 9:58Speaker 11: I haven't seen a ton of of like bad plays.
- 10:02Speaker 11: He just hasn't really played much on defense.
- 10:03Speaker 5: No, I don't really know, he hasn't. I just wonder
- 10:05Speaker 5: with the state of the corners, like you guys sort
- 10:08Speaker 5: of talked me into yesterday with with bringing in J. C. Jackson,
- 10:11Speaker 5: I wonder if maybe they just have to play more
- 10:13Speaker 5: safeties more often. Yeah, because those are better players than
- 10:16Speaker 5: Sean Wade.
- 10:17Speaker 4: Yeah, definitely need to play more too deep, that's for sure,
- 10:20Speaker 4: like you know, cover two quarters and protect the corners.
- 10:24Speaker 4: He Yeah, I don't think they're going to play nearly
- 10:27Speaker 4: as much man to man as they planned on playing.
- 10:29Speaker 1: Well, you know, I've been thinking about the game too,
- 10:30Speaker 1: and I think, to me, the game comes down to
- 10:32Speaker 1: Derek Carr. How healthy is he? You know, I think
- 10:35Speaker 1: that's big. He's got some weapons, yeah, you know, and
- 10:38Speaker 1: if he's healthy, I would think that he might be
- 10:42Speaker 1: licking his chops after watching last game. But if he's
- 10:45Speaker 1: not healthy that you know, that makes a big difference.
- 10:48Speaker 11: Still on the injury report right shoulder. So yeah, I mean,
- 10:51Speaker 11: still whatever it is, I don't know. I mean some ways,
- 10:54Speaker 11: I'm almost more concerned about Jameis Winston a little bit
- 10:56Speaker 11: of you know, just his ability to throw deep, and
- 10:58Speaker 11: that's you know some thing that I think they have
- 11:00Speaker 11: the weapons to get the ball down the field.
- 11:02Speaker 9: And you know, is like as.
- 11:04Speaker 11: Evan said yesterday, Car thrown behind the line of scrimmage
- 11:06Speaker 11: a lot last week. Is he you know, does he
- 11:08Speaker 11: just not have the zip right now when he's not
- 11:10Speaker 11: really able to Certainly if the game gets you know,
- 11:12Speaker 11: if the Patriots were to get a leader or something,
- 11:14Speaker 11: they need some explosive plays, maybe they put Winston and
- 11:16Speaker 11: take some shots. But interesting Winston was excellent, you know
- 11:19Speaker 11: against the Patriots here in twenty twenty one. I think
- 11:21Speaker 11: I was as surprised as anybody when they came in
- 11:24Speaker 11: here and just kind of rolled, which Hunter Henry kind
- 11:26Speaker 11: of confirmed yesterday during his press conference.
- 11:28Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know. I just feel like they, you know,
- 11:33Speaker 1: he doesn't have the accuracy. I don't. I don't think
- 11:35Speaker 1: of car.
- 11:36Speaker 11: No, when cars, when Carr play, Yeah, when Carr can
- 11:39Speaker 11: wrex them, if you could merge it, yeah and make like,
- 11:41Speaker 11: you know, doating this car.
- 11:42Speaker 1: He might have a stronger arm for sure.
- 11:45Speaker 5: But now, I mean, I think Carr throws the ball well,
- 11:47Speaker 5: but I do. I think just brings up a good
- 11:49Speaker 5: point because I that that thirteen for thirty three is
- 11:52Speaker 5: still like sticking in my head, Like I wonder if
- 11:55Speaker 5: they just didn't want him to sit back there and
- 11:59Speaker 5: wait for any of those place to develop because they
- 12:01Speaker 5: wanted to make sure they kept him healthy.
- 12:03Speaker 4: Yeah, they did throw five deep balls and he was
- 12:05Speaker 4: zero for five. One of them was I thought a drop. Yeah,
- 12:09Speaker 4: but it just the Tampa played a lot of too
- 12:12Speaker 4: deep coverage and a lot of soft zone in that
- 12:14Speaker 4: game Tampa two and just begged Derek Carr to check
- 12:19Speaker 4: it down, like they just they were asking him to
- 12:21Speaker 4: check it down the entire game. I don't know how
- 12:23Speaker 4: much it was that Derek Carr didn't have zip on
- 12:26Speaker 4: the ball and how much of it was just that
- 12:27Speaker 4: was Tampa's game plan.
- 12:28Speaker 11: Was interesting because you might think, like going in, if
- 12:31Speaker 11: he's got a shoulder injury, like, hey, let's see if
- 12:32Speaker 11: he can, like, let's just attack him at the line
- 12:34Speaker 11: of scrimmage, take away the short stuff and if he's
- 12:36Speaker 11: gonna beat us, beat us down the field. But maybe
- 12:39Speaker 11: they know something I don't.
- 12:39Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, in typical cover too, like that the
- 12:43Speaker 4: opening is like the whole shots along the sideline and
- 12:46Speaker 4: if you're having arm shoulder issues, like making that kind
- 12:50Speaker 4: of throw in an NFL window is going to be
- 12:52Speaker 4: a little bit difficult. So maybe that's that's where they
- 12:55Speaker 4: were coming from. But I didn't watch the film and
- 12:57Speaker 4: think of Derek Carr like, oh, he has no zip
- 13:00Speaker 4: on the ball. He's not you know, his shoulder must
- 13:02Speaker 4: be an issue. It was more that was just kind
- 13:04Speaker 4: of Tampa Bay's strategy was to play zone and and
- 13:07Speaker 4: force him to to dink and dunk it down the field.
- 13:09Speaker 1: Now, according to my app, the weather has taken a
- 13:12Speaker 1: turn for the better. Great right now it's calling for
- 13:16Speaker 1: upper fifties, lower sixties and sunny on Sundays.
- 13:20Speaker 9: Too hot, too hot. I think it's too hot.
- 13:23Speaker 5: What do we have for Saturday?
- 13:25Speaker 1: Saturday?
- 13:25Speaker 9: Rainy?
- 13:26Speaker 5: Still rain?
- 13:27Speaker 9: Yeah, I know, sitting in the rain watching football.
- 13:30Speaker 1: Yeah, Saturday rain. But Sunday I may skip. According to
- 13:33Speaker 1: my app, sunny and in miles.
- 13:36Speaker 9: Yeah, I'd say, uh, I got a thing.
- 13:39Speaker 1: So J T.
- 13:40Speaker 11: Osullivan put out another video yesterday on Mac which I
- 13:42Speaker 11: thought was pretty How great was he this thirty eight minutes?
- 13:44Speaker 9: How great was JT?
- 13:45Speaker 12: Or?
- 13:45Speaker 5: How great was Mel Mac?
- 13:46Speaker 9: Mac wasn't good in the game, actually, put No.
- 13:49Speaker 5: JJ didn't have a positive review of this one.
- 13:51Speaker 9: No, I mean no, he really did well.
- 13:54Speaker 11: No, that's I don't think you're you're right about that.
- 13:56Speaker 11: He's pretty umane. But no, it was good. It was
- 13:58Speaker 11: it was good. I mean, and it's you know, it's
- 14:00Speaker 11: always I think, like when we got into Tuesday, you know,
- 14:03Speaker 11: I like, I mean, I respect but arts coverage and
- 14:05Speaker 11: I liked it, you know, but it doesn't mean we
- 14:07Speaker 11: always agree. And I think Evan and I don't really
- 14:08Speaker 11: agree with a lot of his analysis this week. But
- 14:11Speaker 11: but jt O'sulliam was just all over Max footwork and
- 14:14Speaker 11: I mean, you know, and just breaking it down, showing
- 14:16Speaker 11: what he was doing and how just discombobulated he got.
- 14:20Speaker 11: And it was you know, when they're when he's going
- 14:23Speaker 11: through it, it's it's it's just kind of confirming everything
- 14:25Speaker 11: that we said, but pointing out specific examples of stuff.
- 14:27Speaker 11: Evan and I talked a little bit about it, you know,
- 14:29Speaker 11: not not anything we didn't know, but just kind of
- 14:32Speaker 11: putting it up on the screen of you.
- 14:33Speaker 9: Know, hey, first drive it. It looks pretty good. He's comfortable,
- 14:36Speaker 9: he steps up in the pocket.
- 14:37Speaker 11: He's also pointed out that throw he made it the
- 14:39Speaker 11: start of the third quarter Hunter Henry, the one hander
- 14:41Speaker 11: that they got the penalty on. Good throw good, you know,
- 14:43Speaker 11: stepped up. But a lot of like we talked about
- 14:46Speaker 11: on Tuesday, like, why are you bailing from pocket right here?
- 14:48Speaker 11: Like just take a little step and throw the ball
- 14:50Speaker 11: to the guy who needs to be He he lost
- 14:52Speaker 11: his mind, and I think it's just kind of confirmed
- 14:54Speaker 11: everything we've been talking.
- 14:55Speaker 9: About that, you know, I mean, And j T. O'Sullivan
- 14:58Speaker 9: was like these this is kind of that will get
- 15:00Speaker 9: you out of the league.
- 15:01Speaker 1: Certainly, he's played quarterback and he's an All twenty two
- 15:03Speaker 1: guy and he's that's his job now. He could break
- 15:05Speaker 1: things down. But there was a guy that I listened
- 15:08Speaker 1: to who to me, it was the most damning when
- 15:12Speaker 1: it comes to Mac and he's not an All twenty
- 15:15Speaker 1: two guy, but I trust his instinct and that's Julian Edelman.
- 15:18Speaker 1: And Julian Edelman said, he's just not playing good football,
- 15:21Speaker 1: and you know, I know he doesn't look at it,
- 15:24Speaker 1: you know, from that granular view that you know, some
- 15:27Speaker 1: like the Brian Baldinger is doing. But I think he's
- 15:30Speaker 1: got good football instinct and I think he can tell
- 15:33Speaker 1: when a guy's playing when it's him or the other factors.
- 15:36Speaker 1: And he's putting it squarely on Max's shoulders. And to
- 15:40Speaker 1: me that said a lot. I mean, Julian Edelman is
- 15:42Speaker 1: certainly a Patriots guy. You know, if there was I
- 15:47Speaker 1: if it wasn't Mac, then he would have said it.
- 15:49Speaker 1: He would come to his defense. He has no you know,
- 15:53Speaker 1: grinds to gear, gears to grind when it comes to
- 15:57Speaker 1: Mac Or you know, I was right, you know, like
- 16:00Speaker 1: some people didn't think he was going to be good,
- 16:01Speaker 1: and now he's you know, defending that take. No, he
- 16:05Speaker 1: would be defending him if he could, but he couldn't. Yeah.
- 16:07Speaker 11: Well, and man truly knows what the expectations are here,
- 16:10Speaker 11: what it should look like, the offense looks when it
- 16:12Speaker 11: should be in rhythm. And you know I saw the
- 16:14Speaker 11: same thing you saw. It's and yeah, it's that's how
- 16:17Speaker 11: it is right now.
- 16:18Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean I've been on Max's footwork since week one.
- 16:22Speaker 4: Like I think his footwork is broken. I think it
- 16:24Speaker 4: started breaking last year. And I Badar calls him backfoot
- 16:28Speaker 4: Mac now, and I think that that's totally accurate. Like
- 16:31Speaker 4: all he does is throw off his back foot, even
- 16:33Speaker 4: when he makes good throws. It's still like go watch
- 16:37Speaker 4: week one, the Kendrick Bourne touchdown that we all owed
- 16:40Speaker 4: an odd over on the on the post, he bails out,
- 16:43Speaker 4: he fades away. Yeah, like he doesn't trust the pocket.
- 16:46Speaker 4: He's thrown off his back foot constantly. He's throwing from
- 16:50Speaker 4: platforms that you know, bases with his feet that he
- 16:53Speaker 4: just can't do.
- 16:53Speaker 1: He've been a guy with a cannon. Your guy Drew
- 16:56Speaker 1: Bledsoe a lot of times when he would get in trouble,
- 16:58Speaker 1: it was he's thrown off his back foot. Well, a
- 17:00Speaker 1: lot of guys, yeah, I know a lot of but
- 17:02Speaker 1: I'm talking for a guy with a big arm. That's
- 17:04Speaker 1: a problem.
- 17:05Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 17:06Speaker 4: And I also would say, like you know, with him,
- 17:09Speaker 4: I think what what gets me frustrated with Mac is
- 17:13Speaker 4: like his inability to move in the pocket, like in
- 17:17Speaker 4: like a just in a little in a little bot
- 17:21Speaker 4: right right, like you know he's got he's got you know,
- 17:25Speaker 4: pressure coming off the edge on the left hand side,
- 17:28Speaker 4: and it's just like just relocate, like just take a
- 17:31Speaker 4: little side step and then like move up in the
- 17:33Speaker 4: pocket on to your right, your head down right and
- 17:37Speaker 4: reset and throw because you can't afford to throw off
- 17:40Speaker 4: your back foot here because the ball, you know, DeVante
- 17:43Speaker 4: Parker is coming across the field and if you throw
- 17:45Speaker 4: off your back foot then it's going to be a
- 17:47Speaker 4: pick six. Right, So instead, like you got to relocate
- 17:50Speaker 4: in the pocket and then throw the football, and he does.
- 17:53Speaker 4: That's one thing that I've never really seen him be
- 17:55Speaker 4: very good at in general, and I don't think he
- 17:58Speaker 4: has that that a yar, that instinct to just all right,
- 18:02Speaker 4: the pressures coming from the left, but the right is
- 18:05Speaker 4: is protected. So if I just move off my spot
- 18:08Speaker 4: a little bit here instead, it's like either backfoot Mac
- 18:11Speaker 4: or it's bail. Yeah, like there's no in between.
- 18:13Speaker 1: You mentioned instinct. Do you think that can be taught
- 18:17Speaker 1: that those small movements within the pocket.
- 18:20Speaker 11: I mean, it's interesting because I agree with Evan's saying,
- 18:23Speaker 11: but I also felt like when Matt got here that
- 18:25Speaker 11: he had pocket presence.
- 18:27Speaker 9: Yes, I felt like.
- 18:27Speaker 5: And like as a rookie, he was much more poised
- 18:29Speaker 5: in the pocket.
- 18:30Speaker 11: But I wonder if there's a difference, if there's a
- 18:32Speaker 11: difference between being good in a in a well protected
- 18:36Speaker 11: pocket and doing what Evan's saying and being able to
- 18:39Speaker 11: reset and take a couple steps, Like when the pocket's
- 18:41Speaker 11: there and he can just stand it and throw, he
- 18:43Speaker 11: won't get occupied with you know, the rushers and people
- 18:46Speaker 11: at his feet and stuff. But I mean, you know,
- 18:48Speaker 11: that game was just prime example of just take a
- 18:50Speaker 11: step reset boom.
- 18:52Speaker 5: Yeah, And that's I heard Orlawsky yesterday on EEI talking
- 18:57Speaker 5: a little bit about that, and that's one of the
- 18:59Speaker 5: things that we talked about when it was going better
- 19:01Speaker 5: for Mac. Like Evan just talked about the touchdown throw
- 19:06Speaker 5: against the Eagles, Laski brought up the throw to Hunter Henry.
- 19:11Speaker 5: I think late in the Miami game. It was like
- 19:15Speaker 5: a cross. It was like third and like I think
- 19:17Speaker 5: it was like third and twenty and they got like
- 19:19Speaker 5: sixteen yards or something like that. It was a like recoiled,
- 19:23Speaker 5: leaning back throw that barely got there and everybody's like, wow,
- 19:27Speaker 5: Like you fit that in a tight window. But that's
- 19:29Speaker 5: not that. Sometimes completing those passes can be the worst thing,
- 19:33Speaker 5: you know, like the ones across the field. When you
- 19:35Speaker 5: get away with it, then you think you can always
- 19:38Speaker 5: get away with it. But people have noticed that he's
- 19:42Speaker 5: not necessarily stepping in and letting it rip because I
- 19:45Speaker 5: think when he does that, the arms not as much
- 19:49Speaker 5: of an issue. Right when he steps into the throws,
- 19:52Speaker 5: I think it's adequate.
- 19:53Speaker 4: Yeah, you have one hundred percent, And that's why he's
- 19:55Speaker 4: got to learn to reset his platform, Like because if
- 19:58Speaker 4: he if he just moves off his spot a little
- 20:00Speaker 4: bit in the pocket and then resets his feet and
- 20:02Speaker 4: then throws, I don't think we'd have all these concerns
- 20:04Speaker 4: about his arm strength. The problem is that he's bailing
- 20:07Speaker 4: all the time and he's falling out the back of
- 20:10Speaker 4: the eye.
- 20:10Speaker 5: And I get in arguments sometimes with people, especially my
- 20:13Speaker 5: boy Felger, you know, when he always it's so overrated,
- 20:16Speaker 5: it's overrated. I go, but there's so infrequently in the
- 20:20Speaker 5: NFL that everything is perfect where you have the clean
- 20:23Speaker 5: pocket and you can step into it and drive the ball.
- 20:26Speaker 4: If that's the case.
- 20:27Speaker 5: Then they all can do it. I would agree, Like
- 20:29Speaker 5: you don't really like Chad Pennington, even after all the
- 20:32Speaker 5: shoulder surgeries, could do it. But what happens when it's
- 20:35Speaker 5: not quite the same and it's all arm.
- 20:38Speaker 1: Yeah, and you know, anticipating pressure. You know, obviously his
- 20:43Speaker 1: footwork's not been great all year. But in the Jets game,
- 20:46Speaker 1: there was that one play drops back in. It was
- 20:49Speaker 1: definitely a screenplay he was getting ready for, and his
- 20:52Speaker 1: feet were all over the place, you know, just you know,
- 20:56Speaker 1: and it was like, guy, the pressure's not even there yet,
- 20:59Speaker 1: you know, I mean, what do.
- 21:00Speaker 9: You think it is.
- 21:01Speaker 11: Do you think it's And I'm sure you know it's
- 21:03Speaker 11: a combination, but I mean, is it he doesn't trust
- 21:06Speaker 11: his current offensive line and the play this year has
- 21:08Speaker 11: slowly grown on him to the point where he just.
- 21:11Speaker 9: Is terrified that he's gonna get popped. Yeah, yeah that
- 21:15Speaker 9: Or is it connected.
- 21:15Speaker 1: To last year too, where Brady went through the same
- 21:18Speaker 1: thing at times?
- 21:19Speaker 5: I think Brady was doing a lot of that toward
- 21:21Speaker 5: the end of his career, a lot of recoiling.
- 21:23Speaker 1: Yep.
- 21:23Speaker 4: I I My fear is that, you know, the modern
- 21:27Speaker 4: example that we always go to of like quarterbacks who's
- 21:29Speaker 4: internal clocks and footwork gets broken, as David car Like
- 21:33Speaker 4: that's what everybody always goes to. And my fear is
- 21:36Speaker 4: that it's never gonna come back like if you once,
- 21:38Speaker 4: because last year it started to go downhill and then
- 21:42Speaker 4: it hasn't gotten any better this year. And like he
- 21:45Speaker 4: stood in and you know kind of we would call
- 21:48Speaker 4: it like stare down the barrel right of like a
- 21:50Speaker 4: guy coming in his face and he'll throw the ball
- 21:52Speaker 4: under some pressure, like his his statistics under pressure this
- 21:55Speaker 4: year have been a lot better than last year. But
- 21:57Speaker 4: that's not even what we're really talking about it's like,
- 21:59Speaker 4: you know, those little movements in the pocket or you know,
- 22:02Speaker 4: stepping into throws and when he does have clean pockets
- 22:05Speaker 4: and things like that, and I don't know, once that's
- 22:09Speaker 4: you're broken in that sense, it's like really hard to
- 22:12Speaker 4: get it back.
- 22:12Speaker 1: It's one thing to avoid the pressure. It's another thing
- 22:15Speaker 1: to avoid the pressure. And like you said, reset, get
- 22:18Speaker 1: yourself ready because the pressure is still there and now
- 22:23Speaker 1: you're making yourself vulnerable. You have to be able to
- 22:26Speaker 1: be okay with that. Yeah, yeah, I'm gonna I'm gonna
- 22:28Speaker 1: take a hit here, but my platform's.
- 22:32Speaker 11: Right well, you know, I mean, this was one of
- 22:33Speaker 11: what Brady's superpowers was. I mean, I think Paul brought
- 22:36Speaker 11: up the example of the overtime Miami three past to
- 22:39Speaker 11: Troy Brown, where it's he gets out of the pocket,
- 22:41Speaker 11: it's muddy, he stops, resets and and and chucks it.
- 22:44Speaker 11: I mean, that was just something I think if you
- 22:46Speaker 11: put you know, Brady comebacks playing clutch at the end
- 22:48Speaker 11: of the game. But that really I think was maybe
- 22:50Speaker 11: one of his most powerful assets was just his ability
- 22:53Speaker 11: to subtle move boom, deliver the ball, you know, without
- 22:56Speaker 11: getting flustered.
- 22:57Speaker 5: And I think with a lot of quarterbacks, and David
- 23:01Speaker 5: Carr is a great example of that. But my favorite,
- 23:05Speaker 5: I mean, I'll say Drew got shell shocked. You know,
- 23:08Speaker 5: he used to stand in first six eight years of
- 23:11Speaker 5: his career. There was no one tougher. He just stood
- 23:14Speaker 5: in the pocket. He knew he wasn't a scrambler, he
- 23:15Speaker 5: knew he wasn't going to make a living off platform.
- 23:18Speaker 5: He stood in the pocket, took the hit, and at
- 23:21Speaker 5: some point, I just think that it happens to all
- 23:23Speaker 5: those guys, and I think it happened to Brady too.
- 23:25Speaker 5: I think Brady, you know, when you just get hit
- 23:29Speaker 5: time and time again, sometimes you just say I don't
- 23:33Speaker 5: want to get hit anymore. And I mean you watched
- 23:35Speaker 5: some of brady stuff, some of the bad games that
- 23:37Speaker 5: Brady had toward the end of his career. Like I
- 23:40Speaker 5: think of that Detroit game when Matt Patricia was the coach, yep,
- 23:43Speaker 5: Like he's the greatest that ever played, and he would
- 23:46Speaker 5: do it. And I don't think it to you a point, Evan,
- 23:48Speaker 5: I don't know if it's ever coming back. No one
- 23:51Speaker 5: has more respect for Drew Bledsoe than I do. It
- 23:53Speaker 5: never came back. He got shell shocked and he had success,
- 23:58Speaker 5: but not if he was taken him and I wonder
- 24:02Speaker 5: if that's part of the mental problem.
- 24:04Speaker 11: I feel like this weekend he'll come out and he'll
- 24:07Speaker 11: be under wraps a little bit. I think he'll be
- 24:08Speaker 11: controlled and he'll be okay early on, but it's really
- 24:11Speaker 11: just as the team goes on to mysel.
- 24:13Speaker 5: If I were the Saints, my number one priority would
- 24:15Speaker 5: be to get a hit on him early in the game.
- 24:16Speaker 1: And getting back to the line. I remember when Bledsoe
- 24:19Speaker 1: first got here and Parcels like demonstrably said to his
- 24:25Speaker 1: do not let him get hit. And I wonder if
- 24:28Speaker 1: Bill gives that backing to you know Mac. You know,
- 24:32Speaker 1: like those offensive line knew that if Bledsoe got hit,
- 24:36Speaker 1: they had to answer not to their offensive line coach
- 24:39Speaker 1: but to their head coach. Under no circumstances let him
- 24:43Speaker 1: get hit, Okay. And now, yeah, Bruce Armstrong, so that helped,
- 24:47Speaker 1: but you know, in some really good linemen, but I
- 24:51Speaker 1: mean the head coach made it a point at that time.
- 24:54Speaker 1: I'm not sure that.
- 24:56Speaker 5: And it is part of coaching, guess, but it was amazing.
- 24:59Speaker 5: Remember that, well, when when Bledsoe had Parcels, you look
- 25:04Speaker 5: at him, and he was never a mobile guy. I
- 25:06Speaker 5: mean in his best day, he wasn't mobile. And he
- 25:10Speaker 5: would be in the teens for sacks for a season
- 25:12Speaker 5: and then when Carol came, it like doubled and tripled.
- 25:16Speaker 1: But if you're a if you're a quarterback and you
- 25:18Speaker 1: hear your head coach say that, it gives you a
- 25:21Speaker 1: little bit more.
- 25:21Speaker 5: Confidence, you know. And it's not like Drew didn't throw
- 25:23Speaker 5: the ball. He said an all the time NFL record
- 25:25Speaker 5: in the second season for pass attempts.
- 25:27Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 25:27Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean this is something that you know, I've
- 25:30Speaker 4: tried not to make a huge deal out of, but
- 25:33Speaker 4: like O'Sullivan pointed it out a little bit, and other
- 25:35Speaker 4: people have pointed it out, and I just think like
- 25:39Speaker 4: sometimes the whole vibe on the offenses off in terms
- 25:42Speaker 4: of like energy and just you know, kind of caring
- 25:46Speaker 4: about their quarterback, and like, you know, I wanted to,
- 25:50Speaker 4: like was watching just some clips on Twitter of Justin
- 25:54Speaker 4: Herbert last week got laid out on the sideline.
- 25:56Speaker 5: Mike and I said this live when it happened.
- 25:58Speaker 4: The entire team came off the sideline and got in
- 26:02Speaker 4: Jerry Tillery's.
- 26:03Speaker 5: Like two guys without their helmet song.
- 26:05Speaker 4: They had to get Jerry Tillery out of there to
- 26:07Speaker 4: save his life. It felt like at one point, you know,
- 26:09Speaker 4: like the whole team was like it was like, you know,
- 26:12Speaker 4: storming the castle, because like they laid out Justin Herbert
- 26:15Speaker 4: on the sideline, and I just I can't think. I
- 26:18Speaker 4: don't think that would happen here. Like, I don't think
- 26:20Speaker 4: that if Mac got hit like that that you know,
- 26:23Speaker 4: we're talking about defensive players that were on the bench
- 26:26Speaker 4: at the time jumping off the bench to get involved.
- 26:29Speaker 4: You know, like part of that might be Bill.
- 26:31Speaker 1: I mean, I know you don't want to put any
- 26:32Speaker 1: one player above the others, but maybe you have to.
- 26:35Speaker 11: Yeah, well, and I mean to continue along those lines,
- 26:38Speaker 11: I mean, one of the players, though Sullivan highlighted, was
- 26:40Speaker 11: when Mac, I mean he didn't even wait for the pocket.
- 26:42Speaker 11: He just went and then he ran and then he
- 26:43Speaker 11: got stood up by the linebacker and a boom and
- 26:45Speaker 11: he was like, no one comes, and He's like this
- 26:47Speaker 11: stands out to me that no one comes to his defense.
- 26:49Speaker 11: Right here he gets hit, the linebacker's just standing over him,
- 26:53Speaker 11: and Trent Brown and everybody else just kind of walks
- 26:55Speaker 11: up to the line.
- 26:56Speaker 9: So I don't know. I try not to get too
- 26:58Speaker 9: much into that weeds, but.
- 26:59Speaker 4: It's not even just like after the snap for me though,
- 27:02Speaker 4: Like you know, I watched another clip of Keenan Allen
- 27:05Speaker 4: was like chipping the end on his way out of
- 27:07Speaker 4: his route and he just lowers his shoulder into the
- 27:10Speaker 4: end and pops the guy to the ground and pancakes
- 27:12Speaker 4: him to the ground. And on Sunday that the Patriots
- 27:15Speaker 4: tried to chip Michael Parsons plenty of times and there's
- 27:18Speaker 4: just nothing to it. Like it's just there's just no
- 27:21Speaker 4: anger to it. It's like like hit them like you
- 27:24Speaker 4: know it. Back when they would play guys like you know,
- 27:28Speaker 4: Travis Kelcey for example, like Dante high Tower used to
- 27:31Speaker 4: put him on his butt off the line of scrimmage,
- 27:34Speaker 4: you know, and it used to get on those guys.
- 27:36Speaker 4: Or they played great pass rushers and they would tell
- 27:38Speaker 4: their backs to chip them out coming out of the
- 27:40Speaker 4: backfield into their route. You didn't just like kind of
- 27:43Speaker 4: lazily like give them a little forearm, No, you lowered
- 27:46Speaker 4: your shoulder into the gun.
- 27:47Speaker 1: Somebody has to set that tone, I don't know on
- 27:49Speaker 1: this team.
- 27:50Speaker 4: And they can't run the ball either, so it all
- 27:52Speaker 4: ties together to me as this lack of just physicality.
- 27:55Speaker 11: And then the newest T shirt is Tough Teams Cover
- 27:58Speaker 11: Kicks is the newest T shirt in the locker, which
- 28:00Speaker 11: just to me didn't really hit the right note of,
- 28:02Speaker 11: you know, everything Evan's talking about, we stop with the
- 28:05Speaker 11: T shirts and stop with the T shirts and you know,
- 28:08Speaker 11: like the the glorification of the special teams.
- 28:11Speaker 9: You know, like the special teams have like three different
- 28:13Speaker 9: sets of shirt.
- 28:14Speaker 5: Yeah that's a me problem, no, but I get it.
- 28:16Speaker 11: But like, isn't the tough teams don't let teams come
- 28:18Speaker 11: out and just walalz right down the field on you
- 28:20Speaker 11: and score too, you know, like that's part of being
- 28:22Speaker 11: a tough team and everything.
- 28:23Speaker 5: Evan, just say against all three of the teams that
- 28:24Speaker 5: you played that had an offense, that's what happened. And
- 28:27Speaker 5: you know, and I wanted when when Mike, when you
- 28:30Speaker 5: started bringing up the stuff about you know, the the
- 28:34Speaker 5: reaction and all that, and it's just Bill O'Brien's comments.
- 28:38Speaker 5: I thought some of them were telling. And you were
- 28:40Speaker 5: talking about getting out of the pocket and running on
- 28:42Speaker 5: that play, and I wish I had it like they
- 28:48Speaker 5: played a clip of it yesterday on the Sports Hub
- 28:51Speaker 5: on my show Fred, and there was two different comments
- 28:54Speaker 5: that I thought were telling that Billy oh sort of
- 28:56Speaker 5: you could tell he was sort of stopping himself. And
- 28:59Speaker 5: one of them was on that run, it's like, we
- 29:01Speaker 5: have to know what we can and this is why
- 29:05Speaker 5: I wish I had it, because I don't have the
- 29:06Speaker 5: actual quote in front of me, but paraphrasing, we have
- 29:09Speaker 5: to know what we can and can't do, like we're
- 29:11Speaker 5: not built to get out of the pocket and try
- 29:13Speaker 5: to run for a first down there, and then he
- 29:15Speaker 5: took a good hit, you know. And the other one
- 29:18Speaker 5: was the the third and one the throw to Kasiki
- 29:24Speaker 5: when when O'Brien was talking about it, he said, you know,
- 29:27Speaker 5: we have to get down there. We have to execute,
- 29:30Speaker 5: we have to coach it. But like he stopped himself
- 29:32Speaker 5: because he didn't want to make it sound like he's
- 29:34Speaker 5: putting it on the players. That play was there, that
- 29:37Speaker 5: was a good design, and it's third and less than one.
- 29:40Speaker 5: I think, I mean, I was thrown off by the
- 29:42Speaker 5: play action there. That play's got to work. Kasiki was
- 29:46Speaker 5: open and.
- 29:47Speaker 4: Talking about, yeah he missed Parker, but he's got.
- 29:51Speaker 5: But I think it's but I think it's an easy
- 29:53Speaker 5: throw to Kasiki for a touchdown.
- 29:54Speaker 4: I think it's an easier throw to park.
- 29:56Speaker 5: And whatever, like that's got to be a touchdown. Like,
- 30:00Speaker 5: I know, we can sit here where we can say
- 30:02Speaker 5: why are they not doing X? And I would and
- 30:05Speaker 5: a lot of in a lot of ways, I would
- 30:06Speaker 5: agree with a lot of bad criticism, But that play
- 30:09Speaker 5: was there.
- 30:10Speaker 1: Yeah, the play worked. Yeah, well, I mean this wasn't exit.
- 30:12Speaker 5: I mean by both of them. I thought it was
- 30:14Speaker 5: a little off. The throwers a little off, but I
- 30:15Speaker 5: also thought Kasicki could have caught it.
- 30:17Speaker 11: Yeah, I mean JT on that one, I mean he
- 30:19Speaker 11: literally was like and this is kind of the Evans point.
- 30:21Speaker 11: He's like he just skips over Parker like that should
- 30:24Speaker 11: be the second read and what he's going through and
- 30:25Speaker 11: Parker's coming across, and like you know, he does try
- 30:28Speaker 11: to get it off to Kasiki as he's falling away.
- 30:30Speaker 11: So I mean, yeah, that was there, but like even
- 30:32Speaker 11: his was just like he's just skipping a read right there,
- 30:34Speaker 11: like and that was almost Evan like he forgot what
- 30:35Speaker 11: the play is, like he forgot what the p And that.
- 30:37Speaker 1: Was on the third and one, Yeah, to me. That's
- 30:41Speaker 1: even more of a sense of urgency there, you know,
- 30:44Speaker 1: because you're you're going for the touchdown when you could
- 30:46Speaker 1: go for the first down and extend the drive. And
- 30:50Speaker 1: you got to make that play. You've got to make
- 30:52Speaker 1: that play.
- 30:53Speaker 5: And that was from like the city. That's seven yard line.
- 30:55Speaker 1: Yeah, that's up here.
- 30:56Speaker 13: Man.
- 30:57Speaker 1: If you when you see Parker, there can no second thought. Yeah,
- 31:01Speaker 1: get rid of it. Get rid of it, you know. Yeah.
- 31:03Speaker 4: I mean I when I did my breakdown of it,
- 31:05Speaker 4: I highlighted Parker being open on that play because that's
- 31:09Speaker 4: a layup, like that's an easy it's a little crosser
- 31:12Speaker 4: over the middle of the field. The throw to Gasiki
- 31:14Speaker 4: is a tough throw, like he's coming across the field
- 31:16Speaker 4: the other direction, and then.
- 31:18Speaker 1: It's it's gonna have to get it over right, and.
- 31:20Speaker 4: It's late, like you know, Parso Parsons beats Trent Brown
- 31:23Speaker 4: off the edge there and he's going one, two, three,
- 31:25Speaker 4: and he's coming to his third read in the progression,
- 31:28Speaker 4: so he's about to get hit by Parsons. That the
- 31:30Speaker 4: throw that's the easy throw is the one to Parker
- 31:32Speaker 4: that's five yards in front of him. And if he
- 31:34Speaker 4: just hits Parker, in stride. He's just gonna cut it
- 31:36Speaker 4: up and walk into the end zone and it's just.
- 31:38Speaker 1: And if he doesn't get it, you get a first down.
- 31:40Speaker 4: Figure Yeah, but those are he would have scored. But
- 31:44Speaker 4: those are like the types of throws that Mac needs
- 31:47Speaker 4: to make the throw to Parker. Mac can't be the
- 31:49Speaker 4: guy that's trying to make the throw to Gasiki. He
- 31:51Speaker 4: doesn't have the type of like arm talent to make
- 31:53Speaker 4: that kind of throw consistently. So he's got to make
- 31:56Speaker 4: the layups in the offense. And in this game he
- 31:58Speaker 4: missed a lot of those time types of layups. Like
- 32:00Speaker 4: I'm not saying I definitely.
- 32:01Speaker 5: Missed one on a fourth down later in the game,
- 32:03Speaker 5: Parker was wide open.
- 32:04Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm not saying he's gonna mark like he's going
- 32:08Speaker 4: to hit these like he throws them all.
- 32:10Speaker 9: The time until the time when he's actually just wide open.
- 32:13Speaker 5: I don't know, and then that's a little bit on us,
- 32:15Speaker 5: Like he doesn't like it.
- 32:16Speaker 1: I Like, you know, why do they keep force feeding
- 32:19Speaker 1: you know, Parker with with snaps? You know, Well, maybe
- 32:22Speaker 1: it's because they know he is getting open, you know,
- 32:25Speaker 1: and the balls just not getting delivered to him. Maybe,
- 32:29Speaker 1: you know, we need to rethink our view of Parker.
- 32:31Speaker 5: Well, the Parker thing, they don't I don't have any
- 32:34Speaker 5: problem with him playing because they don't have anybody else
- 32:36Speaker 5: that does what he does, I know, But like it's
- 32:38Speaker 5: the the Mario Douglas snaps that I want I wanted
- 32:40Speaker 5: to take away from, like Juju.
- 32:42Speaker 1: But we look at Parkers one catch five targets, Well,
- 32:45Speaker 1: maybe you know, it should be more.
- 32:47Speaker 9: It should be it.
- 32:48Speaker 4: Should be yeah. I mean, no one's saying that there
- 32:49Speaker 4: were you know that these players would go for fifty
- 32:51Speaker 4: sixty yard touchdowns. I don't, but these little dump offs
- 32:55Speaker 4: over the middle on these crossing routes and stuff like that,
- 32:58Speaker 4: like that's that's got to be some thing that Mac
- 33:00Speaker 4: consistently hit.
- 33:02Speaker 1: And I think that's what you know, Mac kind of
- 33:05Speaker 1: said when he was talking about, you know, I've got
- 33:08Speaker 1: to stay within the game plan a little bit more.
- 33:11Speaker 1: I'm sure he was told that, Oh yeah, and you
- 33:14Speaker 1: know O'Brien kind of alluding to it to take what's there.
- 33:17Speaker 1: You know, this is the way the play is set up.
- 33:20Speaker 1: Don't just just stick with the plan, you know, Yeah,
- 33:23Speaker 1: and we'll be okay.
- 33:24Speaker 11: I just think with the Saints defense, with the veteran
- 33:26Speaker 11: players they have, they're watching that film and they're identifying
- 33:29Speaker 11: and they're talking about everything that we're talking.
- 33:31Speaker 9: About with him.
- 33:32Speaker 11: So I think Paul's plan for getting after him and
- 33:35Speaker 11: you know, just trying to get his clock off, because
- 33:36Speaker 11: I would feel like at this point, if I was
- 33:38Speaker 11: an opponent, if we can get to him and get
- 33:39Speaker 11: his clock off.
- 33:40Speaker 1: Well, listen, last week we were we were all wrong.
- 33:42Speaker 1: We thought that, you know, Dallas would run the ball,
- 33:45Speaker 1: run the ball, and they did the exact opposite. We
- 33:48Speaker 1: go into this game saying, well, you know, Saints don't
- 33:50Speaker 1: really blitz a lot that maybe just because maybe they
- 33:54Speaker 1: will in this game, you know, so they have to
- 33:56Speaker 1: be ready for that.
- 33:57Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 33:57Speaker 9: I mean, I don't know how aggressive they want to get, but.
- 34:00Speaker 5: I wouldn't blitz. I think I just win one on
- 34:02Speaker 5: one matchups.
- 34:02Speaker 1: But but like you said, Paul, if you can hit.
- 34:04Speaker 5: Him early, yeah, but you don't have to blitz to
- 34:06Speaker 5: do that. Maybe it's my point. If they do say
- 34:09Speaker 5: you have to change.
- 34:09Speaker 1: I'm just saying maybe the Saints do. And so maybe
- 34:12Speaker 1: the idea is.
- 34:13Speaker 5: I don't think against the thirty second rank pass blocking
- 34:15Speaker 5: unit you have.
- 34:16Speaker 1: But why take the chance let's just hit him early.
- 34:18Speaker 1: Let's find a way to do it real fast.
- 34:20Speaker 5: I mean, I think it's a bigger chance to give
- 34:22Speaker 5: up a play on a blitz when you don't blitz
- 34:24Speaker 5: a lot, and it's exposure.
- 34:26Speaker 1: Okay, I'm just say. I'm just saying.
- 34:27Speaker 11: I would you know, I would say I'm going to
- 34:29Speaker 11: take my chances with Cameron Jordan on Vendarian Lowe, and
- 34:31Speaker 11: I think I'm gonna win. I'm going to win that
- 34:32Speaker 11: matchup more than a few times, especially early, you know.
- 34:36Speaker 9: And even even Davis too, is just an active, veteran
- 34:38Speaker 9: aggressive kind of guy.
- 34:40Speaker 5: That's a great player, you know. I say, like, there's
- 34:42Speaker 5: a stat too like that that game last week, which
- 34:45Speaker 5: was also a little misleading because the Bucks put it
- 34:49Speaker 5: away late. Yeah, that snapped a long streak of the
- 34:52Speaker 5: Saints defense not allowing twenty more than twenty points in
- 34:55Speaker 5: the game. I mean, I don't have a really good defense.
- 34:58Speaker 5: I don't know how many, but it was like ten
- 35:00Speaker 5: or twelve games without allowing more than twenty points in
- 35:03Speaker 5: the game. That's that's not easy to do in that league. Yeah.
- 35:06Speaker 4: No, Davis is one of my more underrated players. Like
- 35:10Speaker 4: that you see on on you know a weekly basis.
- 35:12Speaker 4: He's great.
- 35:13Speaker 1: Uh.
- 35:14Speaker 4: They have some corners that are other than Latimore that
- 35:16Speaker 4: are starting to play well. Ideum. I think his name
- 35:19Speaker 4: is Isaac Yideam on the on the outside. And and
- 35:22Speaker 4: then Alante Taylor, who I liked in the draft is
- 35:24Speaker 4: playing in the slot for them. The Honey Badger's still
- 35:27Speaker 4: a good player. And yeah, they they have a really
- 35:30Speaker 4: good secondary.
- 35:30Speaker 5: Yeah, and they had a young a young safety who
- 35:33Speaker 5: missed the Bucks game who's back. I think he was
- 35:36Speaker 5: a full Jordan Howden.
- 35:39Speaker 4: Yeah, howd in Heesoda.
- 35:40Speaker 5: He had a foot and he's played, Uh, he's played
- 35:44Speaker 5: pretty well for them. He was a full participant in practice.
- 35:47Speaker 5: He didn't play in the the Bucks game. But yeah,
- 35:49Speaker 5: like that, Like I said that, that Tampa game, it's
- 35:53Speaker 5: seventeen to nine with with with less than less than
- 35:56Speaker 5: four minutes left in the game, and and the Bucks.
- 35:58Speaker 5: You know, the Bucks got nine points in the last
- 36:02Speaker 5: you know, they scored nine points in the last minute.
- 36:05Speaker 4: Basically, No, it's it's a good defense. And they're a
- 36:07Speaker 4: little bit weak on the at the de tackle position
- 36:10Speaker 4: that that's one place that you can run on them
- 36:12Speaker 4: a little bit. But Granderson and and Cam Jordan are
- 36:15Speaker 4: really good edge pair and and then their secondary is good.
- 36:18Speaker 4: And I love Davis. Davis is a great player at linebacker.
- 36:20Speaker 1: All right, eight five to five pass five hundred is
- 36:22Speaker 1: the ace ticket hotline. Web radio at patries dot com
- 36:25Speaker 1: is the email address picks today. So we got a hurry,
- 36:28Speaker 1: So let's get some of our listeners, uh viewpoints. We'll
- 36:32Speaker 1: start with Anthony and Seattle. What's up, Anthony, where you
- 36:34Speaker 1: going do? Oh? Hey, thanks Anthony, appreciate that.
- 36:40Speaker 5: Oh thank you, Anthony.
- 36:41Speaker 7: Yeah, my pleasure, my pleasure. Hey listen, I'm I guess
- 36:45Speaker 7: I know you guys turned the turn the page to
- 36:48Speaker 7: the to the Saints, but I couldn't get through on
- 36:50Speaker 7: to today and I was busy yesterday. But I'll be brief. Listen, man,
- 36:55Speaker 7: I'm broken they broke me. Uh and the words of
- 37:00Speaker 7: cousin Patty, it's time to uh throw in the throw
- 37:03Speaker 7: in the white flag or was it waved the white
- 37:06Speaker 7: how my curo predictions? And I was promised I got
- 37:10Speaker 7: lunch for you guys. But another part of it is
- 37:14Speaker 7: I kind of felt like, I mean, this is my
- 37:16Speaker 7: tenth season listening with you guys, and you know, watching
- 37:20Speaker 7: on watching that game on Sunday, you just feel so helpless.
- 37:23Speaker 7: And I felt like the only sense of control and
- 37:26Speaker 7: the only action I could take is like, you guys
- 37:28Speaker 7: are my connection to the Patriots, So I'm gonna buy
- 37:30Speaker 7: my Patriots family lunch as like the only thing I
- 37:33Speaker 7: can do that's within my control.
- 37:34Speaker 1: So we appreciate it more importantly.
- 37:37Speaker 7: Than than wins and losses. Man, the Gonzo injury, like
- 37:41Speaker 7: it just it just really it just took my soul. Man,
- 37:44Speaker 7: it felt like what it felt like to me. And
- 37:46Speaker 7: I'm just gonna get I'll be I'll try to be brief,
- 37:49Speaker 7: but it felt like that twenty years of success was
- 37:51Speaker 7: like we made a deal with the devil and like
- 37:54Speaker 7: this was them coming to collect where it's like, here's
- 37:56Speaker 7: the other side of the point, here's your number one pick,
- 38:00Speaker 7: just like who looks to be a superstar out the
- 38:03Speaker 7: gate and then three games or in a S fours game,
- 38:06Speaker 7: we're gonna take him from you. And it's like, oh,
- 38:08Speaker 7: come on, and it just you know, I don't it
- 38:12Speaker 7: just it broke me, like obviously I'm die hard. I'm
- 38:14Speaker 7: not going anywhere. I'll be watching. I'll continue to watch,
- 38:17Speaker 7: but it's watching for loyalty. Because I don't really have
- 38:20Speaker 7: anything you left.
- 38:21Speaker 1: No, I hear you. It hurt me too, And thanks again, Anthony,
- 38:24Speaker 1: appreciate it.
- 38:26Speaker 5: Yeah, thanks Anthony.
- 38:28Speaker 1: You know when when they lost Gonzales and Judea, it
- 38:31Speaker 1: killed me.
- 38:32Speaker 5: That's why I said that was the worst thing that
- 38:33Speaker 5: came from me. Anyway, that was the worst.
- 38:35Speaker 1: Part more than losing thirty. I don't care if we
- 38:37Speaker 1: lost one hundred to nothing. I'd still say that losing
- 38:40Speaker 1: your two best players offense or defense was a killer.
- 38:44Speaker 5: Because even if you're you know, sort of pessimistic, you
- 38:46Speaker 5: can you can chock up a bad game to a
- 38:49Speaker 5: bad performance like that.
- 38:50Speaker 14: You know.
- 38:50Speaker 5: Okay, so they didn't play well, they turned the ball over,
- 38:55Speaker 5: the score got out of hand early, and it was
- 38:56Speaker 5: just one of those games. But it's hard to do
- 38:59Speaker 5: all that and say whoa, and then we're going to
- 39:02Speaker 5: be better now that we are missing our two best players,
- 39:04Speaker 5: right Yeah.
- 39:05Speaker 4: And with Gonzales too, even if they had a six
- 39:08Speaker 4: and eleven season, if he continued to look great, at
- 39:11Speaker 4: least you would have that the future talk about and
- 39:13Speaker 4: sink your teeth into and and all that type of stuff. Yeah, brutal.
- 39:18Speaker 1: I'm right with Anthony on that one. Let's see Robbie's
- 39:22Speaker 1: in Pennsylvania. What's up Robbie, I.
- 39:25Speaker 7: Guys hope we go on.
- 39:26Speaker 6: Well, yeah, I just got a couple of flick ones
- 39:28Speaker 6: for you. Yesterday, Evan pointed out that jac is more
- 39:31Speaker 6: of a ball hawk. I was wondering if you guys
- 39:34Speaker 6: have any concerns if Jack Jones comes back that you
- 39:38Speaker 6: may have too many like guys trying to jump routes
- 39:41Speaker 6: and things like that. Could we get beat thee if
- 39:44Speaker 6: Jack it does make it back here in the short term.
- 39:47Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 39:48Speaker 6: The other the other point I had real quick is
- 39:51Speaker 6: take it off the air is do you guys think
- 39:53Speaker 6: Remandre Struggles is more on the opposive line or do
- 39:55Speaker 6: you think it's something with Remandre? I know they and
- 39:58Speaker 6: week one they chalked it up that he got an this,
- 40:00Speaker 6: but you think he gotta be over that by now.
- 40:03Speaker 6: Just wondering if you thought maybe he could be play
- 40:05Speaker 6: calling or just off into blind play and I'll take
- 40:08Speaker 6: up here.
- 40:08Speaker 1: Thank thanks. First one, Jack Jones too much, too similar
- 40:14Speaker 1: to J. C. Jackson.
- 40:15Speaker 4: It's a fair concern, but I think at this point
- 40:18Speaker 4: those two guys have proven that they can at least
- 40:20Speaker 4: play NFL football. He gotta like that's what you got,
- 40:25Speaker 4: you know. So I don't know if you can really
- 40:27Speaker 4: be too picky in a situation where all these guys
- 40:31Speaker 4: at cornerback are hurt.
- 40:32Speaker 5: With the way the offense is played, you might just
- 40:34Speaker 5: have to say, you know, we're gonna give up some plays,
- 40:36Speaker 5: but we got to take a shot and see if
- 40:38Speaker 5: we could take the ball away.
- 40:39Speaker 1: What about Remandre?
- 40:42Speaker 4: I think there's certain things that you could nippick Remandre,
- 40:45Speaker 4: like individually on I think there are times where there
- 40:49Speaker 4: are tough yards to be had there and it might
- 40:51Speaker 4: not be this explosive ten plus yard run, but he
- 40:54Speaker 4: might be able to get three or four and keep
- 40:57Speaker 4: the momentum moving in a positive direct. And sometimes he's
- 41:01Speaker 4: been dancing a little bit too much in the backfield, It's.
- 41:03Speaker 1: True, but sometimes those when he's dancing, the action is
- 41:08Speaker 1: happening two yards in the backfield, like the defensive home.
- 41:11Speaker 4: Yeah, already, that's why I said they'd picked because it's
- 41:14Speaker 4: it's clearly more on the offensive line in the scheme
- 41:17Speaker 4: that was. But I think that in some instances, if
- 41:21Speaker 4: you want to say, like, is there anything specifically going
- 41:23Speaker 4: on with the mare? You know, sometimes as a running
- 41:26Speaker 4: back and you just got to lower your head in
- 41:28Speaker 4: there and take the three yards and it's second and
- 41:30Speaker 4: seven and live, live to play.
- 41:32Speaker 1: But there are a couple of plays in Dallas where
- 41:34Speaker 1: all this trash is happening at his feet and it's
- 41:36Speaker 1: happening three yards in the backfield. You know, it's like,
- 41:39Speaker 1: what's the guy?
- 41:40Speaker 4: I mean, I've been on the run game the whole season,
- 41:43Speaker 4: like there's there's scheme stinks in the run.
- 41:44Speaker 5: Just to add another thing to be concerned about, he
- 41:47Speaker 5: pops up on the injury report this week too with
- 41:49Speaker 5: a thigh injury.
- 41:50Speaker 1: So of course, uh, Tim's and Providence, what's up? Tim?
- 41:55Speaker 15: I had a couple of points to make. I was
- 41:58Speaker 15: thinking about, like the point at which Max seem to
- 42:02Speaker 15: have a significant breakdown in his mechanics, and all I
- 42:05Speaker 15: can think back to is at Baltimore game where he
- 42:08Speaker 15: got injured, you know, and I think he just got boothed.
- 42:12Speaker 15: You know, I think he's scared of getting hits.
- 42:15Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I think.
- 42:16Speaker 15: That's sort of the ideology of it. I think I
- 42:18Speaker 15: think he just And then I think the other thing
- 42:21Speaker 15: too is I think, you know, I hate to say it,
- 42:23Speaker 15: but I think they got to move away from him,
- 42:25Speaker 15: and they got to move away from Bill both and
- 42:28Speaker 15: I just think, you know, we're going to end up like,
- 42:31Speaker 15: you know, one of these teams with an okay quarterback,
- 42:35Speaker 15: maybe like car or Cousins, or We're not We're not
- 42:38Speaker 15: going to win anything. And I mean, how long can
- 42:42Speaker 15: you can you do that? You've got to take chances.
- 42:44Speaker 15: If you don't take rips, you'll never you'll never get anywhere.
- 42:48Speaker 15: It's true in every facet of life, business or football.
- 42:52Speaker 15: So they got to move on from both of these guys,
- 42:55Speaker 15: even if it is a risk. I mean, that's part
- 42:57Speaker 15: of life.
- 42:58Speaker 9: So right, that's all.
- 43:01Speaker 1: I mean.
- 43:01Speaker 5: It's interesting about that the Baltimore game. I thought there
- 43:04Speaker 5: was and I'd like to go back and you know,
- 43:06Speaker 5: maybe in the offseason look at some of the games
- 43:09Speaker 5: late in his rookie year to see if we notice
- 43:11Speaker 5: any differences of his pocket presence, because I do think
- 43:14Speaker 5: that he had a decent amount of pocket presence and
- 43:16Speaker 5: poise early on. And I mean it's no secret he
- 43:22Speaker 5: you know, from that bye week one he was completely
- 43:24Speaker 5: shut down, with the exception of the two games against
- 43:27Speaker 5: the Jets and the Jags. The other games he didn't
- 43:30Speaker 5: play well. They didn't move the ball, and I wonder
- 43:33Speaker 5: if we started, you know, if you if you went
- 43:36Speaker 5: back and looked at those if you'd see the same
- 43:37Speaker 5: kind of back throw, backfoot throws and yeah, pressure that
- 43:41Speaker 5: we've seen. But the Baltimore game, that's a good point
- 43:43Speaker 5: he got. I mean, that was a painful injury, obviously,
- 43:46Speaker 5: and maybe that's.
- 43:47Speaker 1: And up to that point in that game he was
- 43:49Speaker 1: playing well.
- 43:50Speaker 5: That was one of his best games.
- 43:51Speaker 4: I think as a pro, I think that I don't know,
- 43:54Speaker 4: maybe it's just semantics, but like pocket like being afraid
- 43:58Speaker 4: to get hit and then being like navigating the pocket
- 44:01Speaker 4: well to me or like two different things, right, Like,
- 44:04Speaker 4: I don't think he's afraid to get hit, No, because
- 44:06Speaker 4: he stands in there and it has been under a
- 44:08Speaker 4: ton of pressure in the first month of the season,
- 44:10Speaker 4: and he's made a lot of really good throws while
- 44:12Speaker 4: under pressure. I think the problem for him is more
- 44:15Speaker 4: so that he can't get away with throwing off his
- 44:18Speaker 4: back foot when he's under pressure, and he can't get
- 44:20Speaker 4: away with, you know, the sloppy footwork and mechanics in
- 44:23Speaker 4: the pocket because he doesn't have the arm talent to
- 44:25Speaker 4: make up for it, like certain guys can throw. Patrick
- 44:28Speaker 4: Mahomes doesn't need to set his feet right, like if
- 44:30Speaker 4: he there's pressure coming down the barrel and he just
- 44:32Speaker 4: throws off his back foot like a ball is gonna
- 44:34Speaker 4: have plenty of zip on it for Mahomes, for an Allen,
- 44:37Speaker 4: for those types of guys. For Mac, he's got to
- 44:39Speaker 4: figure out ways to navigate the pocket so he so
- 44:43Speaker 4: that he can step into the throws absolutely, And that
- 44:46Speaker 4: I think is different to me than like being afraid
- 44:48Speaker 4: to get hit Like. I think that that's more like
- 44:51Speaker 4: that sixth sense of having that awareness and that ability
- 44:55Speaker 4: to do that, and that's I don't think it an easier.
- 44:59Speaker 4: I think that's harder to to coach in harder to
- 45:01Speaker 4: teach because you don't get hit in practice.
- 45:03Speaker 1: Once you get once you're set like that, when you
- 45:05Speaker 1: get hit, it's going to hurt more than if you're
- 45:07Speaker 1: already falling backwards. You know, you absorb the hit a
- 45:11Speaker 1: little bit more, but once you set your feet, you
- 45:13Speaker 1: make yourself more vulnerable and you know that.
- 45:15Speaker 4: Yeah, I just got to deal with it.
- 45:18Speaker 1: Let's go to AJ in Pittsburgh. What's up AJ?
- 45:23Speaker 16: Hey, guys, thanks, I appreciate you taking the call. No problem,
- 45:28Speaker 16: So being from Pittsburgh, I've kind of had to watch
- 45:30Speaker 16: the Steelers develop pretty much any wide receiver that they
- 45:33Speaker 16: would draft no matter where in the draft that obviously
- 45:37Speaker 16: the Patriots struggle and then taking sort in over pick
- 45:40Speaker 16: ins with Chase Claypool possibly being available, he's either going
- 45:45Speaker 16: to get cut or traded for a late pick. Do
- 45:48Speaker 16: you think that's a flyer that the Patriots would take?
- 45:50Speaker 4: Yes, yep, one hundred Do I think they would take it?
- 45:53Speaker 4: One hundred and twenty percent?
- 45:54Speaker 5: Yes?
- 45:55Speaker 4: Do I think they should? They should be taking it?
- 45:57Speaker 4: Probably not, but like that's the tone type of move
- 46:00Speaker 4: that they'll make. Yeah, well that's.
- 46:02Speaker 1: The But you know, unlike a lot of these guys
- 46:04Speaker 1: that free up, I don't see a lot of clamor
- 46:06Speaker 1: from fans like oh, we should take him, Like I
- 46:09Speaker 1: see the opposite, Like, yeah.
- 46:11Speaker 4: I think that's because we're over it, Like, you know,
- 46:13Speaker 4: like Chase Claypool, Jalen Rager, like they're all the it's
- 46:17Speaker 4: all the same, right, he's failed early draft.
- 46:20Speaker 5: It's been a while since those kind of reclamation projects
- 46:23Speaker 5: are really hit, and I think that's why we've seen
- 46:26Speaker 5: less of it. But yeah, I definitely agree with Evan
- 46:29Speaker 5: that I think that's right in the right in Bill
- 46:31Speaker 5: Belichick's wheelhouse. I think that's a move that he will
- 46:34Speaker 5: be looking to make.
- 46:35Speaker 4: I remember a few It was when he was still
- 46:38Speaker 4: in Pittsburgh. I feel like it was a couple of
- 46:39Speaker 4: years ago, and he compared his catch radius to Gronks
- 46:42Speaker 4: catch radius.
- 46:43Speaker 5: He was like, oh, yeah, Chase Claypool his career. I
- 46:47Speaker 5: don't know if there's just something missing there, you know,
- 46:50Speaker 5: and it just doesn't.
- 46:51Speaker 4: The Patriots signing if he gets released outright, and the
- 46:54Speaker 4: Patriots signing Chase Claypool to the practice squad is is
- 46:57Speaker 4: a lock.
- 46:57Speaker 5: Yeah, Now, if they really have any interest him, I
- 47:00Speaker 5: would suggest sending us doing the same thing, you know,
- 47:03Speaker 5: send a seventh round pick for you know, or whatever,
- 47:05Speaker 5: a sixth round pick for a seventh round pick and
- 47:07Speaker 5: get him, because why you have to fight the rest
- 47:10Speaker 5: of the league for him.
- 47:12Speaker 1: But I do wonder, like, you know, we talk about
- 47:15Speaker 1: Parker and Mac, and you know, maybe it's Mac missing,
- 47:19Speaker 1: And I just wonder what Belichick and O'Brien think is
- 47:24Speaker 1: really the problem. And maybe they have a higher opinion
- 47:27Speaker 1: of the wide receivers than we do.
- 47:29Speaker 4: Oh, that's definitely true.
- 47:30Speaker 1: And so in that case, we don't need to bring
- 47:33Speaker 1: into Claypool. We need to get our line right, we
- 47:35Speaker 1: need to get mac right.
- 47:36Speaker 4: I one hundred percent that's true. I mean, Belichick defended
- 47:39Speaker 4: the the skill talent on Monday on EI. You know,
- 47:43Speaker 4: they came out after him about it then, and he said,
- 47:45Speaker 4: I don't think you know, I think we got plenty
- 47:47Speaker 4: of talent on offense. I don't think that's the problem.
- 47:49Speaker 1: Right.
- 47:49Speaker 4: So I that's a whole different, bigger picture discussion of
- 47:53Speaker 4: whether he's right about that or whatever. But it doesn't.
- 47:56Speaker 1: Matter what they think, because that's going to dictate what.
- 47:58Speaker 5: Theys like that that if that's the strongest argument for
- 48:04Speaker 5: those who want to move on from Bill, Yeah, to me,
- 48:07Speaker 5: his comments.
- 48:07Speaker 4: Like that, Yeah, if you had to like rate based
- 48:10Speaker 4: off just what he said, I'm not even like trying
- 48:13Speaker 4: to like read his mind. The things that he feels
- 48:15Speaker 4: are the problem with the offense number one, by far
- 48:19Speaker 4: as turnovers, like he would like that, he doesn't. I've
- 48:23Speaker 4: never heard him talk more about turnovers in in his
- 48:26Speaker 4: time as the coach. Here in my time covering him,
- 48:28Speaker 4: all he talks about is he said on Monday that
- 48:31Speaker 4: the reason why they beat the Jets is because they
- 48:33Speaker 4: didn't turn the ball over and they didn't get sacked.
- 48:35Speaker 5: And I would argue the reason why they beat the
- 48:37Speaker 5: Jets is because the Jets couldn't score. The other three
- 48:40Speaker 5: teams they played could right, So if they played clean
- 48:43Speaker 5: against the Jets, only the Jets had the Dolphins offense,
- 48:46Speaker 5: they would have lost.
- 48:48Speaker 4: Yeah, so turnovers is I'm sure is number one. Number
- 48:52Speaker 4: two and number three are a combination of Mac in
- 48:55Speaker 4: the offensive line, like whichever. I don't know what order
- 48:57Speaker 4: he would put those in, but yeah, like those are
- 48:59Speaker 4: the three, and I would assume Mac is higher than
- 49:02Speaker 4: the offensive line because he's the one turning it.
- 49:03Speaker 5: Over, so you know, but they're a point those three.
- 49:06Speaker 4: And then I think like skill, talent and receiving and
- 49:09Speaker 4: all that, and that's at the bottom.
- 49:11Speaker 1: Yep, yep, all right, thanks AJ. Appreciate the call.
- 49:15Speaker 5: But I think Claypool, Yeah, that's a patriot kind.
- 49:18Speaker 4: Of somebody else's trash is your you know, Todd's in
- 49:22Speaker 4: North Carolina.
- 49:23Speaker 1: I hate Todd.
- 49:25Speaker 17: Hey, guys, you.
- 49:25Speaker 8: Know, let's just focus on something positive. I think that
- 49:29Speaker 8: if they actually addressed the O line, they get a
- 49:31Speaker 8: couple of guys in, you know, they might be able
- 49:33Speaker 8: to take make something out of this season. I think,
- 49:36Speaker 8: you know, we're starting to see some of the experiment
- 49:38Speaker 8: with Mac may have been a failure. And that's fine.
- 49:40Speaker 8: We can move on, we can get something thing, but
- 49:42Speaker 8: we need some foundation for whoever we get in there.
- 49:44Speaker 8: We need an NO line and then we can start
- 49:46Speaker 8: looking for a receiver, because I think that's the order.
- 49:49Speaker 8: I don't think if we bring anybody in we don't
- 49:51Speaker 8: have an O line, We're we're toast. We're just not
- 49:53Speaker 8: going to get there. And that's the biggest need I
- 49:56Speaker 8: see right now.
- 49:57Speaker 1: Yeah, and I feel that's fixable. I mean, you don't
- 50:00Speaker 1: have to, you know, help that O line by using
- 50:04Speaker 1: up first round draft picks.
- 50:05Speaker 5: You know, I wouldn't mind using one. Yeah, I mean
- 50:08Speaker 5: I don't. It doesn't necessarily have to be next year.
- 50:10Speaker 5: But like I wouldn't mind taking a franchise left.
- 50:12Speaker 1: But I think you can find, you know, some really
- 50:15Speaker 1: good offensive line.
- 50:16Speaker 5: Largely I agree with you.
- 50:17Speaker 4: So I think if you wanted to take one small
- 50:20Speaker 4: silver lining from the offensive mess that was on Sunday,
- 50:23Speaker 4: Antonio Maffi actually played pretty well in that game. I thought,
- 50:26Speaker 4: I thought he was one of their better linemen. Frankly,
- 50:29Speaker 4: and if he's somebody that now can actually play guard
- 50:32Speaker 4: and play well for them the rest of the season,
- 50:35Speaker 4: then then maybe you have something there and that that
- 50:38Speaker 4: at least shores up one of the two spots that
- 50:40Speaker 4: have been a little bit of a weak point, you know, guard,
- 50:43Speaker 4: left guard and right tackle. I'm confident that that big
- 50:47Speaker 4: Mike will figure it out, like I You know, so
- 50:49Speaker 4: left guard and tackle have been your two week points
- 50:52Speaker 4: and if Mafi's gonna play left guard at a at
- 50:54Speaker 4: a starter level, then at least you filled one of those.
- 50:56Speaker 5: And I'm with you, Fred, like I think you can
- 50:58Speaker 5: patch a line together. A million teams do it. I've
- 51:01Speaker 5: seen Tom Brady do it. I think that if you
- 51:03Speaker 5: had better players, the line wouldn't look as bad. Now
- 51:06Speaker 5: I'm not telling you, I'm not giving the line a pass.
- 51:08Speaker 5: They've been bad, right, But I mean I've seen some
- 51:11Speaker 5: bad offensive lines get worked around, right because you have
- 51:15Speaker 5: better players.
- 51:16Speaker 1: But you know, like like in the grand scheme of things,
- 51:18Speaker 1: if the offensive line is your biggest problem, to me,
- 51:21Speaker 1: that's fixable. Maybe not this.
- 51:23Speaker 5: I don't think it's the biggest problem, but it's but you.
- 51:25Speaker 1: Can fix that next year. If quarterbacks your biggest problem.
- 51:29Speaker 1: That's tough.
- 51:30Speaker 5: It's one of those things. It's one of those things
- 51:31Speaker 5: where like everybody can have an opinion on this and
- 51:34Speaker 5: everybody's right. Yeah, Like you could say the offensive line
- 51:36Speaker 5: is the biggest problem. I'm not gonna argue.
- 51:38Speaker 4: I've watched it.
- 51:39Speaker 5: I've watched too, just like you guys have.
- 51:40Speaker 4: Yeah, I think it's been bad. I think it is
- 51:42Speaker 4: their biggest problem. But at the same time, it's their
- 51:45Speaker 4: biggest problem because of who the quarterback is.
- 51:47Speaker 5: That's my point, right, Like, so it wouldn't be the
- 51:49Speaker 5: biggest problem if Tom Brady was thirty five years old
- 51:51Speaker 5: playing behind now No, but.
- 51:53Speaker 4: Because of who the quarterback is, Like, he has to
- 51:55Speaker 4: throw from clean pockets and he has to trust the
- 51:58Speaker 4: pocket and he can't be bailing out of it. Didn't
- 52:00Speaker 4: do it all this stuff. So if the line is
- 52:03Speaker 4: not holding up, then that's gonna exacerbate those issues.
- 52:07Speaker 1: Gabs in Tennessee. What's up, Gabe? Oh?
- 52:11Speaker 18: Hey, how you guys doing? Big fan of the show?
- 52:13Speaker 1: Thanks?
- 52:13Speaker 5: Thanks Gabe.
- 52:15Speaker 6: Uh So, I didn't want to.
- 52:16Speaker 18: I didn't want to come up all pessimistic, crazy thing.
- 52:19Speaker 18: You know, there's still thirteen games.
- 52:20Speaker 1: We have does for that but he's not here right now.
- 52:24Speaker 18: There's still a lot of ball that he's played, right
- 52:25Speaker 18: But I don't think Bill Belichick would ever sell. But
- 52:30Speaker 18: if these next three four games start to just really
- 52:34Speaker 18: go downhill, do you guys think that we could trade
- 52:35Speaker 18: any anyone away at the deadlines.
- 52:38Speaker 5: It's a good question. Sure.
- 52:39Speaker 4: I wonder if I wonder if one of the veteran
- 52:41Speaker 4: receivers Kendrick Bourne, who's in a contract year and is
- 52:47Speaker 4: a free agent now a candidate.
- 52:50Speaker 18: I've seen the tight ends get tossed around on a
- 52:52Speaker 18: couple of social media posts. You know, I think it's sicky.
- 52:55Speaker 18: I've seen the woman respector Hunter Henry got thrown in there.
- 52:59Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean they're both on one year, you know,
- 53:01Speaker 4: contract years as well.
- 53:03Speaker 5: I would put Kasiki in the higher probability of that
- 53:07Speaker 5: than than Henry. I see. I think they really like Henry, yeah,
- 53:10Speaker 5: and they.
- 53:10Speaker 1: Probably been their most consistent guy.
- 53:12Speaker 5: But but but that's not really what I'm relating it to.
- 53:16Speaker 5: I just think that they probably look at him as
- 53:18Speaker 5: he's a guy we can we can retain him, you know,
- 53:21Speaker 5: whereas Kasiki might be a one and done kind of
- 53:23Speaker 5: guy and you could get something for him like you
- 53:25Speaker 5: said to what, you know, an offense looking for a piece.
- 53:28Speaker 4: Yeah, I wouldn't. I wouldn't be surprised at all if
- 53:30Speaker 4: Kendrick Bourne has traded at the deadline, if it goes south.
- 53:33Speaker 5: Now, if it really goes south, could you get like
- 53:36Speaker 5: a contending team to to give you something for Uce? Yeah,
- 53:40Speaker 5: I probably who continues to be even with you know,
- 53:44Speaker 5: I just look at like it doesn't play a ton some.
- 53:46Speaker 4: Of the wide receiver trades. And obviously the one around
- 53:49Speaker 4: here that that gets the most play is Mohammed Sanu.
- 53:51Speaker 4: But the Patriots gave up a second round pick for
- 53:54Speaker 4: Mohammed Sanu.
- 53:55Speaker 1: Well they were desperate at the time.
- 53:56Speaker 4: But yeah, but like that's the market and sometimes in
- 53:59Speaker 4: the mid all of the season at the deadline for
- 54:01Speaker 4: wide receivers, if a team's gonna give you a top
- 54:03Speaker 4: one hundred pick for Kendrick Bourne, like you have to
- 54:05Speaker 4: make that trade. You have to like that. That's that's
- 54:08Speaker 4: a slam dunk trade. And especially if you have three
- 54:11Speaker 4: wins at the time or whatever.
- 54:12Speaker 5: I think the next two games are gonna you know,
- 54:14Speaker 5: if they split these two games and then you lose
- 54:16Speaker 5: to Buffalo, maybe it's time to think about selling.
- 54:20Speaker 1: Thanks Gabe. Let's see Christian in LA. What's up Christian?
- 54:27Speaker 13: Hey you guys, a good day. Good to talk to
- 54:30Speaker 13: you again. So for me, the writings start of on
- 54:33Speaker 13: the wall with the season. There's not really a band
- 54:36Speaker 13: aid that we could apply at any point during during
- 54:39Speaker 13: the season to really fix it. And I think the
- 54:42Speaker 13: paths that we're that we're on will probably lead us
- 54:44Speaker 13: to a significantly high draft pick.
- 54:48Speaker 1: And so.
- 54:49Speaker 13: I'm saying we just stepped back. We let the season
- 54:52Speaker 13: play out. We have to play out in my opinion,
- 54:55Speaker 13: max contract anyway. But what I really wanted to to
- 55:00Speaker 13: ask you guys and get your opinion about, is do
- 55:03Speaker 13: you think it's all plausible that we sort of take
- 55:07Speaker 13: like a sort of a one eighty on the way
- 55:09Speaker 13: we've been approaching the draft. I know it was really
- 55:11Speaker 13: early with draft, but typically we'll gather twenty thirty picks
- 55:16Speaker 13: rights many picks as we could possibly get, and we'll
- 55:18Speaker 13: get a bunch of middling players. Is there a possibility
- 55:21Speaker 13: or possibility for us doing sort of what the Texans
- 55:24Speaker 13: or the Eagles in and where we package a bunch
- 55:26Speaker 13: of our picks and say we just want to get
- 55:28Speaker 13: too high caliber first round pick a high caliber tackle
- 55:32Speaker 13: and a high caliber receiver. We'll give up the third, fourth, fifth, sixth,
- 55:36Speaker 13: and seventh round picks the package everyone and get two
- 55:39Speaker 13: really high picks in the first or first and second rounds.
- 55:42Speaker 13: Does that make any sense to you, guys?
- 55:43Speaker 1: Yeah, you might have to dig into twenty twenty five.
- 55:47Speaker 5: I mean you're not going to be able to move
- 55:48Speaker 5: up significantly in the first round by giving third, fourth, fifth,
- 55:52Speaker 5: sixth round picks. Yeah, you have to give first round
- 55:54Speaker 5: picks in a future year to do that.
- 55:56Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 55:57Speaker 13: What did the Texans and the Eagles, because they both
- 56:00Speaker 13: seem to have done something that.
- 56:02Speaker 4: Last No, the Eagles, the Eagles had that pick for
- 56:06Speaker 4: that they used to draft Jalen Carter from a separate trade.
- 56:09Speaker 4: That that was what it was.
- 56:11Speaker 5: The one with Miami wasn't.
- 56:12Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, Miami, it wasn't. I think it was Miami, right,
- 56:15Speaker 4: I couldn't remember off the top of my head. But
- 56:17Speaker 4: that wasn't Like they didn't The Eagles didn't move up
- 56:19Speaker 4: in the first round this year. They they had that
- 56:21Speaker 4: pick going into the draft from a previous trade.
- 56:24Speaker 5: What about the Texas The Texas Texans traded the twelfth
- 56:27Speaker 5: pick and the thirty third pick and it's twenty twenty
- 56:29Speaker 5: four first and third rounder to the Cardinals. Uh for
- 56:33Speaker 5: number three and one oh five.
- 56:35Speaker 13: Yeah, could we do something like that because it seemed
- 56:37Speaker 13: like the league is moving to an impact player league
- 56:40Speaker 13: where building your your team with middling players that get
- 56:43Speaker 13: made better by a quarterback or someone that raises their
- 56:46Speaker 13: level of play doesn't seem like it's in the cars
- 56:49Speaker 13: for us in the next couple of years, at least
- 56:50Speaker 13: as long as we play out Max contract. Does it
- 56:53Speaker 13: make sense for us to dig into that twenty twenty
- 56:55Speaker 13: five basket of picks and try to do what the
- 56:58Speaker 13: Texans did.
- 56:59Speaker 4: It's a completely outlandish theory. I just don't. I don't
- 57:02Speaker 4: think you have the GM that's going to do that. Like,
- 57:05Speaker 4: if it's somebody else that's in that chair, then then
- 57:07Speaker 4: I could definitely see it. I mean, look at like
- 57:10Speaker 4: Casario just did it, and he's a Belichick guy, and
- 57:12Speaker 4: he did it anyways, So I think it's possible that
- 57:16Speaker 4: that's like a sound way of going about it. I
- 57:18Speaker 4: just don't think that Bill ever would.
- 57:20Speaker 5: And I don't think it. I mean, the mac Jones
- 57:23Speaker 5: part of it is a huge part of whether or
- 57:25Speaker 5: not I would even contemplate. If you think that mac
- 57:28Speaker 5: Jones is part of the future and you want to like,
- 57:31Speaker 5: then I would do something like that. If not, then
- 57:34Speaker 5: I think you got to rebuild, and I don't think
- 57:36Speaker 5: you want to.
- 57:38Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean we'll see, Like the Texans are off
- 57:40Speaker 4: to a pretty good start, like relatively and c J.
- 57:43Speaker 5: Strut whoaller right, but you had that pick, yeah, and
- 57:46Speaker 5: now you're trying to like get around to the journey.
- 57:48Speaker 1: Mean you have that guy, right, and you right exactly
- 57:50Speaker 1: If you do what Christian's saying, you might be giving
- 57:53Speaker 1: up your opportunity to get that quarterbale.
- 57:56Speaker 5: Or you're giving up your opportunity to get anything else
- 58:00Speaker 5: with the quarterback. Now, listen, c J. Stroud has played
- 58:02Speaker 5: four games. I'm not ready to annoint him. He's off
- 58:05Speaker 5: to a good start. But the difference to me is
- 58:09Speaker 5: they they knew they were going to get Stroud and
- 58:11Speaker 5: then they wanted to get Will Anderson too, Right.
- 58:13Speaker 4: So the question is is, like, you know, I think
- 58:16Speaker 4: that saying like if Max's gonna play, if we're gonna
- 58:18Speaker 4: play out Max contract, I agree with you, Paul, that do.
- 58:22Speaker 4: But what the Texans said was we have the number
- 58:24Speaker 4: two pick in the draft. We're going to use that
- 58:26Speaker 4: on CJ. Stroud, but we also have Will Anderson rated
- 58:28Speaker 4: very highly on our board, so we're going to trade it.
- 58:30Speaker 4: I want them both the draft, Will Anderson. But the
- 58:32Speaker 4: Texans had what the twelfth pick or something like that
- 58:36Speaker 4: to move up from, Like the Patriots only have one
- 58:38Speaker 4: first round pick.
- 58:39Speaker 5: So let's just say they have twelve.
- 58:40Speaker 4: Yeah, well they don't have two in twelve, right, But
- 58:43Speaker 4: even if they have, if they have two, then they're
- 58:46Speaker 4: not they're taking a quarterback, right, like, you know, so
- 58:48Speaker 4: like they're starting over completely, Like Mac isn't going to
- 58:50Speaker 4: be a part of the equation.
- 58:52Speaker 5: So if it's just twelve, I don't want to give
- 58:54Speaker 5: up the twenty five first round pick. And you know,
- 58:58Speaker 5: probably one of those pick was probably like a third
- 59:01Speaker 5: round or something.
- 59:01Speaker 4: But if you were talking me into they have, you know, twelve,
- 59:04Speaker 4: and then they have like whatever that equivalent is in
- 59:07Speaker 4: the second round, you know, thirty nine or whatever it is,
- 59:09Speaker 4: and they want to trade back into the first round
- 59:11Speaker 4: with thirty nine. You know, Now we're getting into a
- 59:13Speaker 4: whole getting me a white Barty.
- 59:15Speaker 5: But I don't I don't know, and I don't hate
- 59:16Speaker 5: I don't hate the idea was that Christian in la
- 59:19Speaker 5: I don't like, I like, I like aggressive trades in
- 59:21Speaker 5: the draft. I think if you look at, the biggest
- 59:26Speaker 5: single reason that Kansas City and Buffalo are in the
- 59:28Speaker 5: situations they are is because they were very bold with
- 59:31Speaker 5: dramatic moves up in the first round.
- 59:33Speaker 4: Get to get I think a lot of teams are
- 59:36Speaker 4: if you look at you know a lot of these
- 59:38Speaker 4: teams that have rebuilt on the fly really quickly. A
- 59:40Speaker 4: lot of the trading and the draft has been more aggressive.
- 59:43Speaker 4: And to Kirshion's point, the draft pick is only as
- 59:46Speaker 4: good as the player it turns into, right, So like,
- 59:48Speaker 4: you know, just accumulating all these draft picks for them
- 59:51Speaker 4: to turn into you know, guys that that aren't going
- 59:54Speaker 4: to play in the league.
- 59:54Speaker 5: And Miami and Philadelphia ye have used it well in
- 59:58Speaker 5: and I would say even the other side, San Francisco
- 1:00:00Speaker 5: made an extremely bold move to do that, and it
- 1:00:03Speaker 5: like failed epically, and it doesn't matter because they were
- 1:00:07Speaker 5: able to overcome it. So it doesn't have to be well.
- 1:00:10Speaker 5: If you do that, you set yourself up for failure.
- 1:00:12Speaker 5: If you listen to your draft for.
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: The most part, if you truly believe that a quarterback
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: or a head coach is the guy. There's rarely a
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: price that's too high to pay. You know, you go
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: after them because those are the two most important things
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: you can do and it sets you up for the future,

- 1:02:10Speaker 17: The gold looks looks good against the blue. All right, guys,
- 1:02:15Speaker 17: trivia questions, don't answer them, you guys. Question one, what
- 1:02:21Speaker 17: was Tom Brady's first Madden rating? I'll give you a hint,
- 1:02:25Speaker 17: mad in two thousand and one?
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: All right? Question two?
- 1:02:29Speaker 17: How many international games have the Patriots played?
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: Right?
- 1:02:34Speaker 17: And question three?
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: Hint?
- 1:02:36Speaker 17: This one is in the Patriots. App all right. Patriots
- 1:02:39Speaker 17: chairman and CEO Robert Kraft's first game as owner of
- 1:02:43Speaker 17: the team was a preseason game at Foxboro Stadium against
- 1:02:45Speaker 17: the Saints. What year was this game played?
- 1:02:49Speaker 5: All right?
- 1:02:50Speaker 17: Send your answers into web radio at Patriots dot com. Guys,
- 1:02:55Speaker 17: and by before I say, guys, Alex girls, yes right, sorry, yes, sorry,
- 1:03:01Speaker 17: sorry sorry lady. The content Content girly is joining mattiez
- 1:03:05Speaker 17: Baumann at the PU halftime show. Welcome to the show.
- 1:03:09Speaker 17: We got fun top today. You know, I've been doing
- 1:03:11Speaker 17: some rookie roundups, We've done some fantasy football punishments. Had
- 1:03:14Speaker 17: to cool off on that. We are going to do
- 1:03:16Speaker 17: a different topic. Who has had the biggest impact on
- 1:03:20Speaker 17: American sports?
- 1:03:21Speaker 3: This is about to be a true and the.
- 1:03:24Speaker 17: Lifestyle here, Alex, you want to get kicked off.
- 1:03:28Speaker 12: So the discussion is between which is it's all pretty relevant, right,
- 1:03:33Speaker 12: especially with MLS playoffs coming up, but messy coming to
- 1:03:37Speaker 12: the MLS, Taylor Swift attending two NFL games and coach Prime.
- 1:03:45Speaker 17: Yeah, and his impact on college football this hy yah
- 1:03:48Speaker 17: so kicked off?
- 1:03:50Speaker 12: I mean, so there's two ways to look at this,
- 1:03:54Speaker 12: Like obviously with recency bias.
- 1:03:57Speaker 3: What Taylor Swift did the past to two weeks is
- 1:04:00Speaker 3: just so insane.
- 1:04:02Speaker 12: I mean, I think sports media took the joke way
- 1:04:05Speaker 12: too far and was really corny about it. But looking
- 1:04:09Speaker 12: at this from a business perspective, there was at least
- 1:04:12Speaker 12: a four hundred percent spike in his Jersey sales. I mean,
- 1:04:14Speaker 12: we all saw that tweet going around his podcast. Number
- 1:04:17Speaker 12: one he's had, like I think the last number I
- 1:04:21Speaker 12: saw was between three hundred and six hundred thousand new
- 1:04:24Speaker 12: Instagram followers.
- 1:04:27Speaker 3: And then just the NFL has seen this too. I
- 1:04:30Speaker 3: mean the Kansas City Chiefs New York Jets game that.
- 1:04:34Speaker 12: Really had no business having a million viewers, Yes, second
- 1:04:39Speaker 12: most watched NFL game of the season since I think
- 1:04:42Speaker 12: the second most game watch game watch game since the
- 1:04:45Speaker 12: Super Bowl last.
- 1:04:45Speaker 3: Season, Right yeah, I think so.
- 1:04:47Speaker 5: So that's bananas.
- 1:04:50Speaker 14: She just attended the game like That's the thing is like,
- 1:04:52Speaker 14: if you look at like Coach Prime and MESSI obviously
- 1:04:55Speaker 14: like Messi's playing, Coach Prime is coaching. She's just a fan.
- 1:04:58Speaker 14: Like she's literally just there watching the game, chilling with
- 1:05:02Speaker 14: Mam m Kelsey.
- 1:05:02Speaker 17: And I will say I'm not the biggest Taylor Swift fan,
- 1:05:05Speaker 17: but like the percentage Spike and teenage girls that started
- 1:05:09Speaker 17: watching the NFL, just like the past two weeks was
- 1:05:12Speaker 17: like up by sixty percent.
- 1:05:13Speaker 12: I think you had already that upward trajectory with like
- 1:05:16Speaker 12: Joe Burrow and Jaalen Hrs and the TikTok girls who
- 1:05:20Speaker 12: love him, but like this, really, I mean there's at
- 1:05:23Speaker 12: least interest.
- 1:05:24Speaker 3: Right, So my thing is, I don't know how longwithstanding
- 1:05:27Speaker 3: this will be.
- 1:05:28Speaker 12: I mean, I don't know. I think they're really dating.
- 1:05:32Speaker 12: I think it probably goes back a lot longer than
- 1:05:35Speaker 12: I think. Travis talking about trying to give her the
- 1:05:39Speaker 12: friendship bracelet with his phone number on it.
- 1:05:42Speaker 3: I think that was their soft launch.
- 1:05:44Speaker 12: Oh yeah, I think they had like people trace back,
- 1:05:48Speaker 12: people with way more time on their hands than I have,
- 1:05:50Speaker 12: traced back this relationship to when Travis was in Nashville
- 1:05:54Speaker 12: doing tight End University and Taylor was in Nashville for
- 1:05:57Speaker 12: I believe the Errors tour, so people that's when they
- 1:06:01Speaker 12: first met. But even Taylor playing at Arrowhead was months
- 1:06:05Speaker 12: before Travis ever released that SoundBite on their New Heights podcast. Right,
- 1:06:10Speaker 12: So a lot of people are starting to leave that
- 1:06:12Speaker 12: was their soft launch, and now they've just kind of
- 1:06:15Speaker 12: drummed this up into this really awesome marketing campaign. I mean,
- 1:06:19Speaker 12: Taylor has a movie coming out that the NFL showing
- 1:06:22Speaker 12: promos for in primetime games, Like it's all like this
- 1:06:26Speaker 12: isn't just like, oh, new relationship, I'm gonna go to
- 1:06:29Speaker 12: my boyfriend's game. We all know how calculated Taylor is.
- 1:06:32Speaker 12: My question is how long will this kind of carrie
- 1:06:36Speaker 12: like this bump for the NFL. Whereas I mean not
- 1:06:42Speaker 12: to gloss over coach Prime and stuff and his just
- 1:06:45Speaker 12: the character that he has. But Messi and what he
- 1:06:49Speaker 12: brings to MLS has the opportunity to really, I think,
- 1:06:53Speaker 12: just totally begin a new chapter of MLS. I will
- 1:06:56Speaker 12: really take it to new heights.
- 1:06:57Speaker 17: I will say, as the former college soccer player here,
- 1:07:00Speaker 17: what Messi has done the past year is absurd. Inter
- 1:07:05Speaker 17: was a bottom of the table team. They had eight
- 1:07:08Speaker 17: hundred thousand followers and within the month and a half
- 1:07:12Speaker 17: they have like nine point one. To put that into perspective,
- 1:07:15Speaker 17: the Patriots have four point nine million followers.
- 1:07:17Speaker 12: I mean, Messi is one of the top two, if
- 1:07:20Speaker 12: not three, if not two most followed Instagram accounts, yeah,
- 1:07:24Speaker 12: in the world, And that's the thing like we lose
- 1:07:27Speaker 12: sight of the US little bubble that we're in to
- 1:07:30Speaker 12: the global superstars that soccer players are, especially of a
- 1:07:34Speaker 12: Messi or Rinaldo caliber.
- 1:07:35Speaker 17: He's selling out stadiums that he's not even playing.
- 1:07:38Speaker 9: Because they have turf.
- 1:07:39Speaker 3: You won't even play on turf. And he's still selling
- 1:07:42Speaker 3: out those Chicago.
- 1:07:43Speaker 17: Sold out yesterday. He didn't touch the field. I don't
- 1:07:45Speaker 17: even know if he traveled. The lowest tickets were going
- 1:07:47Speaker 17: for like three point fifty a pop. Gillette, He's like,
- 1:07:50Speaker 17: he we're playing them next year. It's gonna sell out,
- 1:07:53Speaker 17: and he's probably not gonna play because we have turf.
- 1:07:55Speaker 17: It's it's crazy.
- 1:07:57Speaker 14: I feel like your point two about like just like
- 1:08:00Speaker 14: his impact is more like a culture impact here in
- 1:08:03Speaker 14: the US, Like I'm not personally a huge soccer fan,
- 1:08:05Speaker 14: but like I'm interested now because it is huge. But
- 1:08:08Speaker 14: like I think to your point, Taylor Swift is like
- 1:08:11Speaker 14: a spike, and like she'll have her movie. I think
- 1:08:13Speaker 14: she'll go keep going to games, like we'll see, hopefully
- 1:08:16Speaker 14: she comes here in December.
- 1:08:17Speaker 5: We'll see.
- 1:08:18Speaker 14: But like I think that's gonna be a media spike.
- 1:08:21Speaker 14: But considering it's only been a week and like the
- 1:08:23Speaker 14: general public is starting to get annoyed by it now,
- 1:08:26Speaker 14: like there's only so many Yeah, there's only so many plugs.
- 1:08:30Speaker 14: They're gonna be able to do to ride it out.
- 1:08:31Speaker 14: But I mean, even just like her attending a game,
- 1:08:35Speaker 14: it's getting millions of likes on TikTok and stuff for
- 1:08:38Speaker 14: the NFL. But I think Messi's impact is like it's
- 1:08:41Speaker 14: gonna withstand years. I'm not gonna lose all those followers ever.
- 1:08:44Speaker 14: Like it now it's important. Now it's relevant, and someone
- 1:08:48Speaker 14: like me who doesn't even like soccer that much is
- 1:08:50Speaker 14: now interested.
- 1:08:51Speaker 17: I also want to talk about coach Prime, so I
- 1:08:57Speaker 17: don't know if it's impact. I mean because he has
- 1:09:01Speaker 17: like the craziest poll ever. I just think he's the
- 1:09:03Speaker 17: first coach to take full advantage of nil transfer portal
- 1:09:09Speaker 17: social media, and that's going to change the whole landscape
- 1:09:12Speaker 17: of college football.
- 1:09:14Speaker 3: Yeah, he's really just a personality that's so like it's
- 1:09:19Speaker 3: crazy struggling to find the word, but he's just such
- 1:09:22Speaker 3: like just draws you in.
- 1:09:25Speaker 17: Like the aura is crazy aura Like if like, if
- 1:09:28Speaker 17: you're a kid, would you rather go get yelled at
- 1:09:31Speaker 17: by Nick Saban in Alabama or like walk out of
- 1:09:34Speaker 17: a tunnel with coach Prime, it's just crazy or he's
- 1:09:39Speaker 17: getting like the most absurd kids. He says to himself,
- 1:09:42Speaker 17: he's like, we're not the best team yet, but he's
- 1:09:43Speaker 17: like I'm a couple of guys away from changing my
- 1:09:46Speaker 17: complete team. And it's only his first year.
- 1:09:49Speaker 14: I mean even just like their first game, like to
- 1:09:51Speaker 14: look at their season last year and like like how
- 1:09:54Speaker 14: terrible it was just to like their first game, like, yeah,
- 1:09:57Speaker 14: they're not a great team yet, but even in that
- 1:09:59Speaker 14: offseason and like the amount of impact he was able
- 1:10:01Speaker 14: to have, and then even just like his I love
- 1:10:04Speaker 14: his press conference quote about like what about me would
- 1:10:07Speaker 14: make me? Like make you think that I care about
- 1:10:09Speaker 14: your opinion of me? Like I think that attitude is
- 1:10:12Speaker 14: going to take him so far. I mean he's always
- 1:10:14Speaker 14: kind of had it. I mean that's not like that's
- 1:10:16Speaker 14: not a new thing for him, but I mean if
- 1:10:18Speaker 14: I was a college athlete like looking to see what
- 1:10:20Speaker 14: school to go to, like that's the kind of coach
- 1:10:22Speaker 14: that I want.
- 1:10:23Speaker 12: And not only and that's the thing about the branding,
- 1:10:26Speaker 12: you guys know, I'm I love the marketing, I love
- 1:10:28Speaker 12: the business angles and just to go to a school
- 1:10:32Speaker 12: like Colorado and kind of put them on the map culturally,
- 1:10:36Speaker 12: like you have celebrities rolling up to your game.
- 1:10:38Speaker 3: I told you now, destination to go to one of these.
- 1:10:42Speaker 12: Football games because who are you going to see, Who's
- 1:10:44Speaker 12: going to be there, what storylines are going to come
- 1:10:45Speaker 12: out of it, just what it's doing for their athletic program.
- 1:10:48Speaker 17: I mean, I mean I said, like I saw the tweet.
- 1:10:51Speaker 17: I was one of the people. I was up at
- 1:10:52Speaker 17: three am watching Colorado versus Colorado State, and I was invested.
- 1:10:56Speaker 12: And I would love to see the year over year
- 1:10:59Speaker 12: revenue that they've brought in when this season's done, compared
- 1:11:02Speaker 12: to last season. I would love to see their TV
- 1:11:04Speaker 12: ratings year over year.
- 1:11:05Speaker 3: I mean, it's it's literally all contributed to him.
- 1:11:09Speaker 17: So all it has to take is pretty much MESSI
- 1:11:12Speaker 17: needs to be playing the Colorado Rapids. Travis Kelsey and
- 1:11:15Speaker 17: Taylor Swift need to watch a team that week, and
- 1:11:17Speaker 17: then they're all going to be there, and that's going
- 1:11:20Speaker 17: to be a media shutdown pretty much.
- 1:11:22Speaker 12: So in my hometown, we have a saccer specific stadium.
- 1:11:27Speaker 12: I'm sure that there's enough construction workers in my hometown
- 1:11:30Speaker 12: of blood Low, mass who would rip that turf up
- 1:11:32Speaker 12: so quick, put in some nice grass for MESSI to
- 1:11:35Speaker 12: come play the revs. I'm just trying to give mister
- 1:11:38Speaker 12: Kraft just some ideas here.
- 1:11:39Speaker 17: It's hints it's worth it. I mean the cost you
- 1:11:42Speaker 17: would take to rip up the grass or rip up
- 1:11:45Speaker 17: the turf, put some grass down, you'll make it back
- 1:11:48Speaker 17: one game and.
- 1:11:48Speaker 3: I don't think yeah, and I don't think we should have.
- 1:11:51Speaker 12: That brings up the whole argument of turf first grass,
- 1:11:54Speaker 12: which let's do a future you have time show on
- 1:11:56Speaker 12: because I have some studies and some statistics.
- 1:12:00Speaker 3: Oh god, yeah, that's a rabbit hole for me.
- 1:12:02Speaker 17: I'm with you on that, guys. Any last words you
- 1:12:07Speaker 17: want to bring up on biggest media impact are we?
- 1:12:10Speaker 17: Are we under consensus? That is messy for sports. I
- 1:12:14Speaker 17: know you guys were talking about Taylor Swift, but I
- 1:12:15Speaker 17: think straight sports wise, I think the Taylor Swift football
- 1:12:18Speaker 17: thing is gonna eventually burn out.
- 1:12:19Speaker 12: I'm so conflicted because I'm a Swiftie, but I'm not
- 1:12:22Speaker 12: one of those like I'm embarrassed of, like the crazy
- 1:12:25Speaker 12: Swifties like I'm I try to be like a silent
- 1:12:27Speaker 12: one even though everyone knows I am.
- 1:12:30Speaker 3: But I also like I do really love soccer. I
- 1:12:34Speaker 3: think it has to be messy.
- 1:12:36Speaker 14: God, I feel like there's like rankings to it, like
- 1:12:38Speaker 14: messy overall for sports.
- 1:12:40Speaker 3: Taylor Swift start cut.
- 1:12:43Speaker 14: Yeah, yeah, literally starting messy. You're benching Taylor Taylor, and
- 1:12:47Speaker 14: I'm sorry, but you gotta cut coach Prime.
- 1:12:49Speaker 17: I'm benching coach Prime and cutting Taylor. But that's just me, guys.
- 1:12:52Speaker 12: Sounds like a bias, but I understand it because it's
- 1:12:58Speaker 12: been insufferable as it has. Don't cancel me, fellow swifties,
- 1:13:02Speaker 12: but it's been insufferable.
- 1:13:04Speaker 17: Yeah, all right, guys, ladies, sorry, thank you for joining up.
- 1:13:08Speaker 17: See the timers up all right, send your answers in
- 1:13:11Speaker 17: the web Radio Patriots dot com.
- 1:13:13Speaker 9: I think the next time we're going to talk about
- 1:13:15Speaker 9: draft vers Turf. I'm like, he say, talk, all right,
- 1:13:17Speaker 9: let's get back to the show.
- 1:13:20Speaker 20: When someone accidentally threw away the school play costumes, oh no,
- 1:13:25Speaker 20: replacements were shipped with FedEx and with picture proof of delivery,
- 1:13:29Speaker 20: everyone could focus on the perfect opening night FedEx where
- 1:13:33Speaker 20: now it's next for residential delivery only.
- 1:13:37Speaker 5: And now great moments in.
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: History.
- 1:13:42Speaker 21: I just don't want to race out to a lead,
- 1:13:44Speaker 21: and you know, get your watch Brady right touchdown, you know,
- 1:13:48Speaker 21: fourth quarter you're up like fourteen, or saying that touchdown
- 1:13:52Speaker 21: touchdown like ah.
- 1:13:54Speaker 9: No, like here, And that's what he's done to so
- 1:13:56Speaker 9: many teams.
- 1:13:56Speaker 11: And you understand how maddening it is when you think
- 1:14:00Speaker 11: got him the whole game and then all of a
- 1:14:01Speaker 11: sudden it just clicks and it's like, oh, they just
- 1:14:03Speaker 11: want Berzerker mode and you can't stop them.
- 1:14:05Speaker 5: Cracks me up. I just don't want to have a
- 1:14:07Speaker 5: lead and have a break.
- 1:14:09Speaker 11: I don't I don't want to go through another twelve words.
- 1:14:15Speaker 11: You're gonna see me kidnapping them after the game, like
- 1:14:17Speaker 11: bringing them back.
- 1:14:21Speaker 4: What we are on the radio.
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: That's another great moment from score Big. With Bob's unbeatable
- 1:14:29Speaker 1: savings on power reclining furniture perfect for game dey viewing.
- 1:14:33Speaker 1: With features like hid and drop down tables for snacks
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: and BEVs and convenient USB ports, Paul will never have
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: to get up and miss a play, but only when
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: you shop at Bob's, the official furniture store of the
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: New England Patriots.
- 1:14:47Speaker 5: Uh So at halftime, but you're getting all professional with
- 1:14:50Speaker 5: the ad libs in the middle.
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: Of the read. We gave you, well, we gave away
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: another Game day poster.
- 1:14:56Speaker 5: Okay, so it's time for Mike and Paul to guess that.
- 1:14:58Speaker 5: Do you know the answers already? I don't know I
- 1:14:59Speaker 5: have any.
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: Okay, Okay. So they did some trivia. We had three winners.
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: First question was what was Tom Brady's first Madden rating?
- 1:15:08Speaker 9: This was Madden one sixty nine, don't don't care.
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: It was fifty seven. And the winner was bart and Poland. Bart,
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: because you're gonna have to somehow get that poster to Poland.
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: I don't know if you can handle that. You might
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: have to like deliver it yourself.
- 1:15:25Speaker 5: We're all counting on it.
- 1:15:27Speaker 9: Find there.
- 1:15:28Speaker 5: Can we drop it on the way to Germany?
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: I just gonna say that, Yeah, can you meet us
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: in Germany? How many international games? Speaking of Germany, have
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: the Patriots played?
- 1:15:37Speaker 9: Oh, that's a good question. Say four?
- 1:15:41Speaker 5: Wrong, I'm gonna say five, three?
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: Three?
- 1:15:45Speaker 11: Uh?
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: Meghan and Kansas got that that now.
- 1:15:47Speaker 5: So we're not counting like Canada Mexico.
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: We're not counting preseason either, Okay, Yeah, so it's just
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: what in London?
- 1:15:55Speaker 5: That's right, all right? I was counting one in Canada?
- 1:15:58Speaker 9: What was Canada.
- 1:16:00Speaker 5: I believe they played in Canada in the preseason.
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: So they also played in Japan in the preseason.
- 1:16:07Speaker 5: The Patriots did, Yeah, didn't they. I didn't know Japan?
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: Huh. I thought they did.
- 1:16:13Speaker 9: I mean you'd be the one to know.
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: A long time ago.
- 1:16:15Speaker 5: Terrell Davis, I think has had a preseason game when
- 1:16:18Speaker 5: he was a maybe maybe I'm thinking in Japan anyway.
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: Third one was Patriots chairman and CEO Robert Craft's first
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: game as owner of the team was a preseason game
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: in Foxborough against the Saints. What year was that game played?
- 1:16:32Speaker 5: Nineteen ninety four?
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: That's correct, Josh and Dallas got that one.
- 1:16:35Speaker 9: Josh, that's there that one. No, no got the tickets
- 1:16:40Speaker 9: ninety five for sure.
- 1:16:42Speaker 5: For me that was my first year.
- 1:16:47Speaker 9: I mean seize tickets though when you were a fawn.
- 1:16:49Speaker 5: Oh as a fawn. As a fawn, I didn't.
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: Jeff and Brooklyn writes in are you guys being serious
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: about all these T shirts? Or is it a joke?
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: What kind of one to three directionless team is busy
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: praying to the silk screen. This is an upsetting sign
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: but fits with the effort on the field in general.
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: Search for leadership you know.
- 1:17:10Speaker 5: What, that's a really harsh email, But I don't think
- 1:17:13Speaker 5: he's wrong. Like, what are we thinking about right now?
- 1:17:17Speaker 5: Are we thinking about trying to fix this or are
- 1:17:20Speaker 5: we thinking about the next pithy slogan we can come
- 1:17:22Speaker 5: up with?
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: Right?
- 1:17:23Speaker 9: Yeah, hey, and I'm a T shirt guy, you know that.
- 1:17:25Speaker 9: But I mean, no one was coming. I mean that's
- 1:17:29Speaker 9: almost that more APPA pro this week that no one
- 1:17:31Speaker 9: is coming.
- 1:17:32Speaker 4: It's up to us.
- 1:17:34Speaker 9: But yeah, there's there's a few different.
- 1:17:38Speaker 5: Even better if they were good at it.
- 1:17:42Speaker 11: Can I do a little teas real quick, fred I
- 1:17:43Speaker 11: just because I just spoke with Deon Branch for about
- 1:17:45Speaker 11: twenty minutes for the three h four project.
- 1:17:48Speaker 9: Anthony he's the best. I mean, that guy is just
- 1:17:51Speaker 9: the nicest guy.
- 1:17:52Speaker 11: Had some great stories about winning the Super Bowl MVP,
- 1:17:54Speaker 11: little little nugget, little teaser that he shared with me.
- 1:17:58Speaker 11: I guess his dad and his uncle are huge Steeler fans,
- 1:18:01Speaker 11: and so before that AFC Championship game in four, he
- 1:18:06Speaker 11: said they were like razing them, being like, well, we
- 1:18:08Speaker 11: want you to play well, but you can't win, you know,
- 1:18:10Speaker 11: And so he said it started the night before and
- 1:18:12Speaker 11: then of course we know he like they both end started.
- 1:18:14Speaker 9: I mean, I brought up the famous line from Charlie
- 1:18:16Speaker 9: Weis's like, you.
- 1:18:17Speaker 11: Know, Dean, it's gonna be you one on one with
- 1:18:18Speaker 11: the safety and I don't want to start the game
- 1:18:20Speaker 11: with a touchdown. And we had a rushing touchdown receiving touchdown.
- 1:18:23Speaker 11: But he said that was you know, part of his
- 1:18:24Speaker 11: motivation to go out and have that big game was
- 1:18:26Speaker 11: you know, prove his dad and his uncle wrong.
- 1:18:28Speaker 9: And so it was cool monster, great stuff, great stuff,
- 1:18:31Speaker 9: great stuff about him winning the MVP.
- 1:18:33Speaker 11: And you know how surreal it was when they came
- 1:18:34Speaker 11: and tapped him and he told me Rodney Harrison said,
- 1:18:37Speaker 11: you know, if I if he said he was going
- 1:18:40Speaker 11: to get the MVP, but he got that second interception
- 1:18:42Speaker 11: too late at the end, and so you know, Rodney
- 1:18:44Speaker 11: was saying, I should have been the MVP.
- 1:18:45Speaker 9: Intil was like, you got to get that and second
- 1:18:46Speaker 9: interception sooner.
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: So didn't he break his arm in that game? Rodney?
- 1:18:51Speaker 11: The three one he did and O four he got
- 1:18:52Speaker 11: the interception at the end and then him and Rabel
- 1:18:54Speaker 11: they're like running through the field. So yep, thank you
- 1:18:58Speaker 11: to Dean Branch and uh note that we'll be putting
- 1:19:00Speaker 11: that project together, so stay tuned for this next couple
- 1:19:03Speaker 11: of months.
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: Michael in Texas writes in I've been genuinely thrown off
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: with Evan's voice this week, and I think I figured
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: it out. The only answer I'll accept is the change
- 1:19:12Speaker 1: in his voice was caused by a chemical reaction following
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: a young man's loss of the last remaining facet of
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: joy he held dear from the Brady era. This last
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: Sunday single handedly crushed those childhood memories. But listen, Evan,
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: while it hurts like no other hurt you've felt before,
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: you are now that much stronger and will truly appreciate
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: the team's successes moving forward that much more. Godspeed, brother Evan,
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: and welcome to the pain.
- 1:19:37Speaker 9: Oh now, Evan does take these things hard, like I'm like,
- 1:19:40Speaker 9: I mean, he's like, it's.
- 1:19:41Speaker 11: Like he's on the team sometime, like you see he's
- 1:19:43Speaker 11: the offensive coordinator. But yep, he's already.
- 1:19:45Speaker 5: It's been a long time for any sport really that
- 1:19:48Speaker 5: I've cared, no, no, no, taking it like that.
- 1:19:51Speaker 9: Oh yeah, holy crass. I mean in my college now
- 1:19:54Speaker 9: I invest that that's my.
- 1:19:56Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean like Northeastern for you, I was gonna
- 1:19:58Speaker 5: say for me, like, my school doesn't have a football
- 1:20:00Speaker 5: team anymore, like, you know, I don't know.
- 1:20:02Speaker 9: They still got a women's volleyball team though, you like
- 1:20:05Speaker 9: all the sports?
- 1:20:05Speaker 5: Are they good in that?
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: I'm still confused? What is your team? Well?
- 1:20:09Speaker 5: I went to BEU, I know, and they don't even
- 1:20:11Speaker 5: have a football team, right, Oh, so Northeastern doesn't.
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: Either, right, So that's why I'm confused.
- 1:20:16Speaker 5: They both they both don't.
- 1:20:17Speaker 9: Have to right, all right, they have football. When you
- 1:20:19Speaker 9: were there a b you yeah, oh yeah, what was
- 1:20:22Speaker 9: that guy's name?
- 1:20:22Speaker 5: And then that was Robert Doby remember he was a
- 1:20:25Speaker 5: little after me.
- 1:20:25Speaker 21: Yeah.
- 1:20:26Speaker 5: They weren't very good in football.
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: I went to a couple of games when he was
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: the quarterback, Dorty.
- 1:20:31Speaker 5: Because they were good. Yeah, that's what you do, you
- 1:20:33Speaker 5: jump on people's bandway what was good?
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: Though? They were they like they went to the I think.
- 1:20:38Speaker 5: The second round of the playoffs like FCS, and the
- 1:20:40Speaker 5: playoffs was smaller than too. There's more teams make the
- 1:20:43Speaker 5: playoffs now.
- 1:20:43Speaker 9: I remember the buzz though early nineties.
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: Yeah he beat Did you go to the Dorty games?
- 1:20:49Speaker 2: I did not.
- 1:20:50Speaker 5: They beat Northern Iowa at Nickerson Field in the first round.
- 1:20:55Speaker 5: Of the one Double A playoffs. I want to say
- 1:20:56Speaker 5: ninety three, ninety four, sometime around then, Northern Iowa quarterbacked
- 1:21:01Speaker 5: by Kirk Warner. Kurt Warner, and this number one receiver
- 1:21:07Speaker 5: was a famous number seventeen in the Patriots receiving annals. Gosh,
- 1:21:11Speaker 5: Dietrick Award.
- 1:21:12Speaker 9: Detrick Ward. Wow, All right time, good good call outs.
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: Let's get back to the phones. We got a hurry.
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: Dan's in Minnesota. What's up, Dan?
- 1:21:22Speaker 16: Hi, guys, thanks for taking my call. Sure, I uh,
- 1:21:26Speaker 16: I'm gonna do this real briefly. I just in an
- 1:21:28Speaker 16: effort to maybe add some positivity. I got a little
- 1:21:31Speaker 16: game for all of you to play. I'm gonna call
- 1:21:36Speaker 16: it by the bye. There's six games to the bye,
- 1:21:40Speaker 16: and I'd like you to rank the following three things
- 1:21:45Speaker 16: from most likely to be true to least likely to
- 1:21:49Speaker 16: be true.
- 1:21:51Speaker 13: By the bye.
- 1:21:53Speaker 16: Then happened to hurry, thank the same three things in
- 1:21:56Speaker 16: the order that you think would be the most impactful.
- 1:21:59Speaker 13: If they were are true.
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: Lost.
- 1:22:01Speaker 9: Okay, okay, let's jump in.
- 1:22:04Speaker 16: So the three things are. Taekwon Thornton has twenty five
- 1:22:10Speaker 16: receptions and four hundred yards receiving with four touchdowns by
- 1:22:15Speaker 16: the bye. But yeah, second thing is the same, five
- 1:22:21Speaker 16: offensive linemen have played six straight games by the bye,
- 1:22:28Speaker 16: and the third thing is.
- 1:22:31Speaker 7: The defense and.
- 1:22:33Speaker 16: Special teams combined have scored for touchdowns by the bye.
- 1:22:40Speaker 1: I'll go with see little game. Okay, I'll go, let's
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: see good game.
- 1:22:44Speaker 5: So wait a minute, we're trying to set up how
- 1:22:47Speaker 5: like them?
- 1:22:49Speaker 9: I mean, I feel like one that would.
- 1:22:51Speaker 5: Be the most important, but important the most important.
- 1:22:55Speaker 16: Things first of all, rankom for most likely to be
- 1:22:58Speaker 16: true to the least likely to be true, and those
- 1:23:00Speaker 16: things would which would be most past I would.
- 1:23:04Speaker 5: Say the most I would say the most likely to
- 1:23:07Speaker 5: be true is the five offensive lineman play for six games.
- 1:23:10Speaker 5: I would say the second most likely to be true
- 1:23:12Speaker 5: is the four touchdowns for the defense, and the third
- 1:23:14Speaker 5: most likely to be true is Taekwon Thornton having like
- 1:23:17Speaker 5: four hundred yards and six touchdowns, saying four touchdowns in
- 1:23:22Speaker 5: six games six. The thing that would probably impact the
- 1:23:27Speaker 5: most would be Thornton. If Thornton exploded.
- 1:23:29Speaker 1: Like that, Yeah, that would have the biggest of the
- 1:23:32Speaker 1: least likely Yep, all right, well, by the bye, big
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: setup for the game, but good good. I like the
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: thought process. Cousin Chris is in North Carolina. What's up?
- 1:23:43Speaker 13: Hey, what's going on?
- 1:23:44Speaker 5: Man?
- 1:23:44Speaker 22: I just got one problem, you know, and.
- 1:23:47Speaker 1: You only have one. You're in good shape.
- 1:23:53Speaker 22: Is the wide receiver situation.
- 1:23:55Speaker 13: You know.
- 1:23:55Speaker 22: I keep hearing people say do trash, but we said
- 1:24:00Speaker 22: nasal alcalore. You know, we said the same thing about
- 1:24:03Speaker 22: John Van Smith. And now on other teams they have
- 1:24:05Speaker 22: one hundred plus you know what I'm saying yards in
- 1:24:07Speaker 22: the game, Like they got the one hundred yard games
- 1:24:10Speaker 22: this season. So to me, I feel like it's the
- 1:24:12Speaker 22: Patriots inability to develop certain my receivers, you know, like
- 1:24:17Speaker 22: Toad Kwon sort and come on the field his first
- 1:24:19Speaker 22: past the twenty yard contested bomb. That's not like how
- 1:24:23Speaker 22: you get those guys developed. You gotta get their hands
- 1:24:26Speaker 22: warm on short hitches, drags and things like that. So
- 1:24:30Speaker 22: I feel like it's not necessarily the way I receive it,
- 1:24:33Speaker 22: that's the problem. Because Brady never had a lead favorite,
- 1:24:36Speaker 22: but he knew how to get em and scheme element
- 1:24:39Speaker 22: open every game or during the game, you know. So
- 1:24:44Speaker 22: that's my issue, That's all I wanted to say.
- 1:24:46Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, I mean I think that you make an
- 1:24:49Speaker 5: interesting point, and I think it's more about the quarterback
- 1:24:51Speaker 5: than it's the coach, but I don't know that to
- 1:24:54Speaker 5: be accurate. Agal, I think was the guy that we
- 1:25:01Speaker 5: watched in camp last year. We all thought he looked
- 1:25:04Speaker 5: much better and yep flying and you know, he opens
- 1:25:07Speaker 5: the season he makes a couple of contested catches the
- 1:25:09Speaker 5: touchdown against the Steelers, and then he fumbles against Baltimore
- 1:25:12Speaker 5: and that was it like that he stinks, he sinks,
- 1:25:15Speaker 5: he's out.
- 1:25:16Speaker 11: Yeah, I don't know he was well, he was at
- 1:25:18Speaker 11: least at times we saw flashes from him of like
- 1:25:20Speaker 11: you know, especially in training camp and and OTA's especially
- 1:25:23Speaker 11: I remember him catching a couple bombs that was when
- 1:25:25Speaker 11: they were in Bombs Away mood and O TA. But
- 1:25:28Speaker 11: like with Juju and John ou Smith, it just has
- 1:25:31Speaker 11: never looked right to me. It's never looked in rhythm.
- 1:25:33Speaker 11: It's never like it just doesn't look like it fits.
- 1:25:36Speaker 11: And I and it's a really good question of what
- 1:25:39Speaker 11: is Atlanta doing now with John ou Smith to you know,
- 1:25:42Speaker 11: have him have some production. But I mean i'd put
- 1:25:44Speaker 11: this more on like the Mohammed Sanu, you know guys
- 1:25:47Speaker 11: that it just it just doesn't look right out there,
- 1:25:49Speaker 11: and it never like you've never seen anything out of Juju,
- 1:25:52Speaker 11: Like there was never a time in training camp we
- 1:25:53Speaker 11: came away it was like nice day for Juju.
- 1:25:55Speaker 9: Like he maybe had a couple of little catches couple,
- 1:25:58Speaker 9: but never like.
- 1:25:59Speaker 5: My feeling, I'm with you, Mike, and we've been talking
- 1:26:02Speaker 5: about this. I just feel like it was underrated the
- 1:26:07Speaker 5: amount of space he had last year to operate with
- 1:26:10Speaker 5: with Kelsey and Mahomes, and I just think that was
- 1:26:13Speaker 5: really sort of overlooked.
- 1:26:16Speaker 11: It's it's it's a it's a situation that I really
- 1:26:19Speaker 11: I wonder how this is going to evolve, not just
- 1:26:20Speaker 11: you know, the rest of this year. I mean, he's
- 1:26:22Speaker 11: under contract two more years supposedly, Like I don't know
- 1:26:26Speaker 11: if they're gonna be able to figure anything out with him,
- 1:26:28Speaker 11: but I just at some point he needs to be productive.
- 1:26:31Speaker 11: They can't keep throwing on the ball and have him
- 1:26:32Speaker 11: come away, you know, five targets, one catch for twelve
- 1:26:35Speaker 11: yards or whatever.
- 1:26:36Speaker 9: It was like, it's just not good enough.
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: Oh, our phone thing went down all of a sudden,
- 1:26:42Speaker 1: I see Matt running around abooting. All right, let's see
- 1:26:47Speaker 1: get to some of these emails. Caleb from Florida. I'm
- 1:26:52Speaker 1: a diehard fan of both the Patriots and Red Sox
- 1:26:55Speaker 1: love the occasional Red Sox talk from Evan, and I
- 1:26:58Speaker 1: cannot help but notice a lot of similarity. He's on
- 1:27:00Speaker 1: the situations dominated for a good amount of the New
- 1:27:03Speaker 1: Century and are pretty dang close to rock bottom with
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: the decisions being made by the higher ups, free agency
- 1:27:09Speaker 1: signings that seem exciting at the time but don't fit
- 1:27:12Speaker 1: the needs of the team whatsoever, in a serious lack
- 1:27:15Speaker 1: of leadership on the field, with guys like Brady Groan,
- 1:27:17Speaker 1: mccordy Bogarts, and Jad Martinez departing from the city. Given
- 1:27:22Speaker 1: the Red Sox promising minor league system and potentially a
- 1:27:24Speaker 1: top ten pick in the draft for the Patriots, which
- 1:27:27Speaker 1: of the two do you think has the best shot
- 1:27:29Speaker 1: at putting themselves back at a championship caliber team within
- 1:27:33Speaker 1: the next two or three years. Well, I think it's
- 1:27:35Speaker 1: easier for the Red Sox.
- 1:27:37Speaker 5: Yeah, I agree with you, because they can just throw
- 1:27:40Speaker 5: money at the problem. But if you tell me that
- 1:27:42Speaker 5: they're going to do that, I would my answer is
- 1:27:44Speaker 5: the Red Sox. But something tells me they're not just
- 1:27:48Speaker 5: going to magically start throwing the money around again. And
- 1:27:52Speaker 5: if that's the case, then I'll take the Patriots because
- 1:27:54Speaker 5: I think football, the NFL in general, is easier to get.
- 1:27:59Speaker 5: I think they whip back in contention quickly.
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: I think they will know the Red Sox because now
- 1:28:04Speaker 1: who's whoever the new GM is, they're just gonna do
- 1:28:07Speaker 1: it just to get off on the right foot.
- 1:28:10Speaker 9: Spend the money. I mean, but if you were just
- 1:28:12Speaker 9: as stack Lag didn't do that, I mean, I know.
- 1:28:14Speaker 1: And they'll they'll they'll reverse that this time.
- 1:28:16Speaker 11: But we've talked about the Red Sox and like you know,
- 1:28:18Speaker 11: Cassis and some of the guys that came along this year,
- 1:28:20Speaker 11: and you know, I mean, that's you know, what we're
- 1:28:22Speaker 11: hoping for with the Patriots, But as we talked about
- 1:28:24Speaker 11: the top of the show, those guys are kind of
- 1:28:25Speaker 11: regressing this year, and so it's hard to say, like,
- 1:28:28Speaker 11: even if you're not including the sports and the dynamics
- 1:28:30Speaker 11: of the leagues, the Red Sox probably have the promising pieces.
- 1:28:35Speaker 5: And I do think they do have some some promising
- 1:28:38Speaker 5: young pieces. That's the only thing that came out of
- 1:28:40Speaker 5: this season. But it's not gonna matter if you don't
- 1:28:43Speaker 5: spend a boatload of money on investing in a pitching staff,
- 1:28:46Speaker 5: because they have no pitching, all right, I have Brian Bayo.
- 1:28:48Speaker 5: That's guess what.
- 1:28:51Speaker 3: Has turned and has returned?
- 1:28:57Speaker 14: Has turned?
- 1:29:03Speaker 1: All right, Evan, what do we got?
- 1:29:05Speaker 4: He's bad?
- 1:29:07Speaker 5: Taekwon.
- 1:29:08Speaker 11: No.
- 1:29:09Speaker 4: Jacy Jackson was out at Patriots practice on Thursday. Got
- 1:29:13Speaker 4: a nice hello from mister Kraft, who is out there
- 1:29:17Speaker 4: today and the media applau you know, nice.
- 1:29:21Speaker 5: Probably based on my Twitter feed yesterday, I wouldn't be surprised.
- 1:29:24Speaker 4: Nice little greeting between the two of them. And then
- 1:29:27Speaker 4: and also let's go get a win from mister Kraft
- 1:29:31Speaker 4: on his way by.
- 1:29:32Speaker 9: The media immediate. Yes, that's his message to the.
- 1:29:35Speaker 4: Truth, because you know, we we contribute to winning here
- 1:29:39Speaker 4: in this facility.
- 1:29:40Speaker 5: But I'm trying we do. I mean, Mike and I
- 1:29:43Speaker 5: offer our keys to the.
- 1:29:43Speaker 4: Game, right, I mean, they don't listen to ours. But
- 1:29:47Speaker 4: jac Jackson is out there wearing number twenty nine, h
- 1:29:51Speaker 4: not twenty seven, but he had a twenty seven decal
- 1:29:55Speaker 4: on his helmet, so it looks like they just gave
- 1:29:58Speaker 4: him his helmet back like they'd never left. And so
- 1:30:01Speaker 4: that was funny. But yeah, twenty nine right now for
- 1:30:04Speaker 4: JC obviously Miles Bryanton twenty seven, So you can't get
- 1:30:07Speaker 4: twenty seven back. Other than that, attendance was exactly the
- 1:30:10Speaker 4: same for the Patriots on Thursday. Still no Taekwon, still
- 1:30:14Speaker 4: no Jack Jones unfortunately, and uh obviously no Judon and
- 1:30:18Speaker 4: no Christian con Zalce. But yeah, exact same attendance.
- 1:30:20Speaker 5: Other that was holding out hope that you might see
- 1:30:22Speaker 5: thoughnton today.
- 1:30:23Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:30:23Speaker 1: But yeah, with the weather report getting better, does that
- 1:30:28Speaker 1: affect it's been it's been.
- 1:30:30Speaker 4: It's been way too hot. It's been way too hot.
- 1:30:32Speaker 4: Hot for the media.
- 1:30:34Speaker 1: Sees it's beautiful.
- 1:30:35Speaker 4: It's hot, it's hot.
- 1:30:37Speaker 5: You know, it's.
- 1:30:39Speaker 4: That was beautiful, unseasonably.
- 1:30:41Speaker 1: Warm, and you should relish that. You should love that.
- 1:30:45Speaker 4: No, as media, we we like it to be what
- 1:30:48Speaker 4: what it's supposed to be that time of year, because
- 1:30:50Speaker 4: that's what you prepare for, right, Like if you you know,
- 1:30:53Speaker 4: in the in training camp, you know, you know, you're
- 1:30:55Speaker 4: getting yourself into some some hotness, right You're getting yourself
- 1:30:59Speaker 4: into into some sticky August weather in New England in October,
- 1:31:03Speaker 4: you're expecting it to be a little bit colder, and
- 1:31:05Speaker 4: so you dress if.
- 1:31:06Speaker 5: It's seventy five in October, I'm like, yes, oh yes,
- 1:31:10Speaker 5: let's go. I was actually thinking to my as I
- 1:31:13Speaker 5: was walking to my car yesterday, It's like, why can't
- 1:31:15Speaker 5: it be like this every single This is like the
- 1:31:17Speaker 5: most perfect California. It's called it's called called San Diego.
- 1:31:20Speaker 4: It's called living in California.
- 1:31:23Speaker 11: It is, except for like those three days it rains
- 1:31:26Speaker 11: and then you're like, oh, it was beautiful yesterday.
- 1:31:30Speaker 1: Okay, so there you go. Anything else to report? Browsing
- 1:31:35Speaker 1: or you.
- 1:31:36Speaker 4: Know, no grousing, no grousing. I would say that today
- 1:31:42Speaker 4: we saw a little bit extra time as we did yesterday.
- 1:31:45Speaker 4: And Raley Reef I was he's participating. I don't know
- 1:31:50Speaker 4: how much more I can really expunge than that, but
- 1:31:53Speaker 4: he's participating. And I wouldn't be surprised if you know,
- 1:32:00Speaker 4: if he's ready that they give him a look. And I,
- 1:32:03Speaker 4: you know, I've been thinking about this too, like what
- 1:32:05Speaker 4: it wouldn't be that surprising to any of us. I
- 1:32:08Speaker 4: don't think if they just went back to the offensive
- 1:32:10Speaker 4: line that on paper they were supposed to come into
- 1:32:13Speaker 4: the season with right which would be Reef at right
- 1:32:15Speaker 4: tackle and McDermott. I think that they when they signed Reef,
- 1:32:20Speaker 4: they thought he was going to start at right tackle. Okay, yeah,
- 1:32:23Speaker 4: and I wonder if they just say, you know what,
- 1:32:25Speaker 4: let's stop with all the musical chairs, and this is
- 1:32:27Speaker 4: what we coming into the spring, when everybody was, you know,
- 1:32:30Speaker 4: healthy for the most part, this is what we thought
- 1:32:32Speaker 4: we were going to have. And and let's let's try
- 1:32:34Speaker 4: to re hit the reset button here.
- 1:32:36Speaker 1: Okay, all right, that's what I got, shells, I assume.
- 1:32:40Speaker 4: Yeah, no pads, pads yesterday, no pads today, and I'm
- 1:32:44Speaker 4: sure no past tomorrow. Big third down day today, big
- 1:32:46Speaker 4: day today. Third down situational.
- 1:32:50Speaker 11: Is like walking with I can't walk right, Okay, all right,
- 1:32:56Speaker 11: well that's great.
- 1:32:58Speaker 1: Uh so we're all up to date. We'll get the
- 1:33:00Speaker 1: participation report later, but I assume we kind of know
- 1:33:03Speaker 1: what it'll be. So now it's that time of the show.
- 1:33:10Speaker 1: We're gonna do our picks. Paul, let us know how
- 1:33:13Speaker 1: last week went.
- 1:33:14Speaker 5: Okay, it was good week for everyone and it was
- 1:33:18Speaker 5: another flat week. We all seemed to do the same.
- 1:33:21Speaker 5: Fred Evan, Alex, Paul All eleven and five, and Mike
- 1:33:31Speaker 5: nothing that still last night, correct with the spread fred Evan,
- 1:33:39Speaker 5: Alex ten and six, Paul nine and seven, and Mike
- 1:33:44Speaker 5: eight and eight.
- 1:33:46Speaker 9: A right, that's fun with I didn't lose money.
- 1:33:49Speaker 5: So the standings are Fred maintains his pretty good lead
- 1:33:54Speaker 5: forty five and nineteen, followed by Mike forty one and
- 1:33:57Speaker 5: twenty three, Paul and Evan forty and twenty, and alex
- 1:34:01Speaker 5: Is thirty nine and twenty five with the spread. Fred
- 1:34:06Speaker 5: thirty seven, twenty six and one, followed by Paul, Evan,
- 1:34:12Speaker 5: Alex and Mike thirty three, thirty and one. We're all
- 1:34:16Speaker 5: of us, we're all twied.
- 1:34:19Speaker 1: How's my ass taste?
- 1:34:20Speaker 5: Oh, easy, shack, I don't know.
- 1:34:25Speaker 9: You've been eating a lot of pepperoni lately.
- 1:34:26Speaker 1: Fred not so good?
- 1:34:29Speaker 5: Yeah. So Fred has a four game lead in the
- 1:34:33Speaker 5: overall and a four game lead with the spread. We're
- 1:34:38Speaker 5: coming for you, all right, sizable Cochy, you.
- 1:34:40Speaker 1: Got a feeling this week it's gonna be a little tougher.
- 1:34:44Speaker 1: We're now five games in, so let's see what we
- 1:34:48Speaker 1: can do here. Tonight on Prime Video eight fifteen, the
- 1:34:51Speaker 1: zero to four Bears are at the two and two Commanders.
- 1:34:56Speaker 5: The commanders by six six. Do you have al picks
- 1:35:00Speaker 5: that you can do?
- 1:35:01Speaker 1: I don't.
- 1:35:02Speaker 9: I don't actually so she has not sent them to me,
- 1:35:04Speaker 9: so let me check.
- 1:35:05Speaker 5: You should probably check.
- 1:35:06Speaker 9: We'll check in with her. Yeah, I think Matt.
- 1:35:09Speaker 11: I'm seeing Matt Ebert Fliss maybe a coaching for his
- 1:35:12Speaker 11: job tonight. They've lost, however, many straight. So I'm gonna
- 1:35:16Speaker 11: go to Washington at home, and uh yeah, I'm gonna.
- 1:35:19Speaker 9: Lay the points.
- 1:35:22Speaker 4: I am going to go Commanders as well, and I
- 1:35:26Speaker 4: like them to win big in this game. I think
- 1:35:28Speaker 4: they're a much better team.
- 1:35:30Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:35:30Speaker 5: I thought about taking the points, but I wonder that
- 1:35:34Speaker 5: was a bad collapse Sunday. I think that one leaves
- 1:35:37Speaker 5: a mark. I'm gonna take Washington both ways.
- 1:35:40Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean this is where my feel for the
- 1:35:42Speaker 1: league comes in. You want to take the Commanders, but
- 1:35:45Speaker 1: you want to take those points. Okay, take the points. Okay.
- 1:35:50Speaker 1: Now we move to Sunday, nine to thirty in the
- 1:35:53Speaker 1: morning Eastern Time. The two or two Jaguars are at
- 1:35:58Speaker 1: the Well. Yeah, the Bills are the home team. Yeah,
- 1:36:01Speaker 1: but I know it's in London. The Bills are three
- 1:36:04Speaker 1: and one and hosting the Jaguars in London.
- 1:36:07Speaker 5: Mike, good news for the listeners. They get Red Zone
- 1:36:10Speaker 5: Paull pregame and postgame this week special treat Buffalo by
- 1:36:15Speaker 5: five and a half.
- 1:36:16Speaker 9: Five and a half.
- 1:36:17Speaker 11: Yeah, I think Buffalo's rolling right now. I'm going to
- 1:36:20Speaker 11: take Buffalo across the pond and I will lay the points.
- 1:36:25Speaker 4: Hello Claire, Hello the game. I'm gonna take the Bills,
- 1:36:30Speaker 4: but I am going to take the Jaguars to cover.
- 1:36:33Speaker 4: The Jacks have been out there for the whole time, right,
- 1:36:36Speaker 4: they were there last week, and I think the Bills
- 1:36:38Speaker 4: they're traveling the Jaguars, aren't. I like the Jaguars to
- 1:36:41Speaker 4: keep this game close.
- 1:36:43Speaker 5: On the other hand, as fred would say, Evan is right,
- 1:36:46Speaker 5: thank you. I also think Buffalo huge, huge win. You
- 1:36:51Speaker 5: know what do you like to say? The smelling themselves?
- 1:36:53Speaker 5: So how you put it, Freddy? Yeah, yeah, big win
- 1:36:55Speaker 5: over Miami, go to London. I'm gonna pick them to
- 1:36:59Speaker 5: win the game, but I think it'll be close.
- 1:37:00Speaker 1: I agree. I'll take the Jaguars to cover this game,
- 1:37:05Speaker 1: but not quite get there. So Lawrence had a better
- 1:37:11Speaker 1: week last week, so hopefully he can get it. Going
- 1:37:15Speaker 1: one o'clock, the two and two Texans are at the
- 1:37:19Speaker 1: two and two Falcons.
- 1:37:22Speaker 5: The Falcons by two.
- 1:37:24Speaker 1: Where they screwed me last week, This is a tough one.
- 1:37:27Speaker 1: Screwed you Falcons.
- 1:37:28Speaker 9: The Falcons, I don't know I think I'm gonna go
- 1:37:32Speaker 9: with CJ. Stroud Stroud on the road here for a win.
- 1:37:36Speaker 11: I don't feel great about it, but I think these
- 1:37:38Speaker 11: two teams are pretty pretty even. I'd probably get the
- 1:37:41Speaker 11: talent edge to Atlanta, but I think Houston may be
- 1:37:43Speaker 11: playing a little bit Better'm gonna take them.
- 1:37:46Speaker 4: This is a tough one, it is. I'm gonna take
- 1:37:50Speaker 4: the Texans too, though. I like how they're playing. I
- 1:37:53Speaker 4: like how Damiko Ryans has that team playing. And I
- 1:37:56Speaker 4: still just don't I can't with Desmond Ritter. I think
- 1:37:59Speaker 4: I don't think I can pick for the time being.
- 1:38:02Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm really I've been impressed with Houston. I think
- 1:38:05Speaker 5: they've been very competitive in all four of their games,
- 1:38:09Speaker 5: and they seem like they're getting better. But I think
- 1:38:13Speaker 5: now all of a sudden, they're on everybody's radar. Oh
- 1:38:15Speaker 5: look at Houston, Look at CJ. Stroud. I think you
- 1:38:17Speaker 5: throw three picks this week, you know. And just I'm
- 1:38:20Speaker 5: going to take Atlanta just a just a hunch.
- 1:38:23Speaker 1: I am going to go with Atlanta as well. Again,
- 1:38:28Speaker 1: it I agree with it.
- 1:38:30Speaker 5: If you don't start taking different teams than mean, I
- 1:38:31Speaker 5: can't make up the gap.
- 1:38:33Speaker 1: I agree with Evan. This is a tough one because
- 1:38:36Speaker 1: who are each of these teams? But I think Falcons
- 1:38:39Speaker 1: are at home Midland. Yeah, I'm gonna go with the
- 1:38:41Speaker 1: Falcons one o'clock. The zero to four Panthers are at
- 1:38:44Speaker 1: the three and one Lions dutois by ten goodsikes. He's
- 1:38:50Speaker 1: the last time the Lions are points a favorite.
- 1:38:53Speaker 5: It's probably probably been a minute.
- 1:38:56Speaker 9: As the kids say, I'm going to take Detroit to
- 1:38:58Speaker 9: I feel like when I say that.
- 1:39:00Speaker 5: We do say that. No, But you're like when I say,
- 1:39:02Speaker 5: as the kids say, I.
- 1:39:03Speaker 9: Mean, we've been hearing a lot of drizz lately.
- 1:39:09Speaker 11: I'm going to take Detroit, but I'm going to take
- 1:39:10Speaker 11: plus tennis just a lot of points, and I don't know.
- 1:39:12Speaker 11: I think Detroit get a little cocky and and it'll
- 1:39:14Speaker 11: be close.
- 1:39:15Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm feeling the same thing. I trust the Lions
- 1:39:18Speaker 4: more now than I have all year. But I that's
- 1:39:20Speaker 4: a lot of points for ten points.
- 1:39:21Speaker 5: Trust Yeah this, I'm going to take Detroit and I'm
- 1:39:26Speaker 5: going to lay the points. I think Carolina is. I
- 1:39:29Speaker 5: think Bryce Young has showing some flashes of ability, but
- 1:39:33Speaker 5: I think there's still a ways away, and I think
- 1:39:35Speaker 5: that they will not have the offense to keep up
- 1:39:37Speaker 5: in a game like this against Detroit.
- 1:39:38Speaker 1: Yeah, I am going to trust the lions of this
- 1:39:41Speaker 1: game to win and.
- 1:39:42Speaker 5: Cover Fred stop.
- 1:39:44Speaker 4: Also, I also think Ben Johnson's a jerk off that.
- 1:39:47Speaker 5: Well, I don't know. I don't know if you heard
- 1:39:49Speaker 5: him at that school play. I mean, it was was
- 1:39:51Speaker 5: brutal and he told an old lady to go home.
- 1:39:54Speaker 1: And slapped her, you know, in the face, that into
- 1:39:58Speaker 1: the woods.
- 1:39:59Speaker 9: And this dad's got to stand up and say, watch
- 1:40:01Speaker 9: my kid, and he's playing the chicken and forget it.
- 1:40:04Speaker 1: Sunday at one, the two and two Titans are at
- 1:40:07Speaker 1: the two and two Cults.
- 1:40:09Speaker 5: Another interesting game, the Titans by one and a half.
- 1:40:14Speaker 9: Somebody owned somebody in this one.
- 1:40:15Speaker 1: Paul, I do not know.
- 1:40:17Speaker 5: I like asking you that Tennessee has generally run that
- 1:40:20Speaker 5: division in recent years.
- 1:40:22Speaker 14: Now.
- 1:40:22Speaker 5: They didn't win it last year, but the Rabel Titans
- 1:40:25Speaker 5: have been pretty.
- 1:40:26Speaker 9: Pretty good in that.
- 1:40:26Speaker 11: I'm really struggling this year to get a beat on
- 1:40:28Speaker 11: the Verbel Titans. Usually I kind of give them the
- 1:40:30Speaker 11: benefit of the doubt, and I'm gonna do it this week.
- 1:40:33Speaker 11: I'm gonna take the underdog Titans on the road.
- 1:40:38Speaker 4: I don't know. I mean, Anthony Richardson's looked really good
- 1:40:41Speaker 4: from what I expected him to look like me too,
- 1:40:44Speaker 4: but I feel like the Titans just they're more buttoned
- 1:40:46Speaker 4: up organization. I'm going to take the Titans. I don't
- 1:40:49Speaker 4: love it though. I think it's a tough one coin
- 1:40:52Speaker 4: flip game.
- 1:40:52Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm going to take the Titans too. And it's
- 1:40:54Speaker 5: a it's a Mike Dusau pick. It's a Mike Rabel
- 1:40:58Speaker 5: pick for me.
- 1:40:59Speaker 1: Yeah, Colt Serve impressed me. There's something going on there
- 1:41:05Speaker 1: that I did not expect, and I'm going to say
- 1:41:08Speaker 1: that it continues and they beat the Titans.
- 1:41:11Speaker 5: Finally, So there you go, Paul, finally give me a chance.
- 1:41:14Speaker 1: There's your opening. Uh, Sunday at one, the one in
- 1:41:18Speaker 1: three Giants are at the three and one Dolphins.
- 1:41:22Speaker 5: Miami by eleven eleven eleven.
- 1:41:25Speaker 9: Wow, there's go to eleven.
- 1:41:29Speaker 11: Yeah, some good shots of Brian Dable chucking the chucking
- 1:41:32Speaker 11: the iPad there, Daniel Jones.
- 1:41:34Speaker 4: It wasn't Daniel Jones.
- 1:41:35Speaker 1: But did you think it was discussed?
- 1:41:37Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 1:41:37Speaker 21: I was.
- 1:41:38Speaker 5: That's exactly what I was gonna Don't you think there
- 1:41:40Speaker 5: was a level of disgust there with that little toss.
- 1:41:42Speaker 5: We did you not think that?
- 1:41:44Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:41:44Speaker 9: I did, and I don't think that's a good sign.
- 1:41:46Speaker 11: So I'm gonna take Miami, and I'm somehow going to
- 1:41:48Speaker 11: lay eleven of those points, even though I think that's
- 1:41:50Speaker 11: a little crazy, but maybe not that crazy.
- 1:41:53Speaker 4: I I'm going to take Miami to win this game,
- 1:41:56Speaker 4: but I'm going to take the Giants to cover. I
- 1:41:58Speaker 4: think the Giants at some point half to show a
- 1:42:00Speaker 4: little fight, like they have to show a little punch
- 1:42:02Speaker 4: back and a little bit of fight. And I think
- 1:42:04Speaker 4: the Dolphins got got solved a little bit last week
- 1:42:06Speaker 4: by the Bills. So I'm gonna take Miami. But that's
- 1:42:08Speaker 4: a lot of points.
- 1:42:09Speaker 5: Yeah, Miami definitely is my pick. I'll take the Giants
- 1:42:14Speaker 5: to cover two just because I don't think the Giants
- 1:42:16Speaker 5: are that bad, even though they've played that badly for
- 1:42:19Speaker 5: the first four games. I'll take the eleven.
- 1:42:22Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm gonna go with the Dolphins to cover, even
- 1:42:25Speaker 1: though it pains me to do so. I do think
- 1:42:28Speaker 1: the Giants are with Miami, they're in trouble. Well, I
- 1:42:31Speaker 1: hate the Dolphins. They're in first place.
- 1:42:33Speaker 5: I don't can't have that they're not.
- 1:42:34Speaker 1: But and they're spelling themselves. Okay, it's pretty good. One o'clock,
- 1:42:42Speaker 1: the three and one Ravens are at the two and
- 1:42:44Speaker 1: two Steelers. The Ravens by four four road dogs roads,
- 1:42:50Speaker 1: so they're by seven road favorite road favorites. They're actually
- 1:42:56Speaker 1: favored by seven teams.
- 1:42:59Speaker 11: Don't get excuse me, friend, I'm gonna take the Ravens
- 1:43:02Speaker 11: on the road, and I will lay the points.
- 1:43:05Speaker 4: I mean, I think Kenny Pickett's going to try to
- 1:43:07Speaker 4: play in this game.
- 1:43:07Speaker 5: Correct what it sounds like.
- 1:43:09Speaker 4: Yeah, I still like Baltimore, though, I like them to
- 1:43:12Speaker 4: win this game comfortably, So I'm taking the Ravens both ways.
- 1:43:17Speaker 5: I am going to take Baltimore to win. I will
- 1:43:19Speaker 5: take the points because these games are almost always decided
- 1:43:23Speaker 5: by a field.
- 1:43:24Speaker 1: Gal. It's true. That's a good point the Black and
- 1:43:26Speaker 1: Blue Division, but I'm gonna go with the Ravens to cover.
- 1:43:29Speaker 1: I think the Steelers are having their issues too.
- 1:43:31Speaker 5: So oh yeah, their offense is worse than the Patriots.
- 1:43:35Speaker 1: So now we skip over the Patriots at one o'clock
- 1:43:38Speaker 1: and we moved to four oh five. There are actually
- 1:43:41Speaker 1: two four oh five games this week. That's big news.
- 1:43:44Speaker 5: Only five one o'clock games this week, there.
- 1:43:46Speaker 1: Are one in the one in three Bengals are at
- 1:43:49Speaker 1: the one in three Cardinals.
- 1:43:52Speaker 5: The Bengals by two and a half.
- 1:43:54Speaker 11: Two and a half, and I thought Joe Burrow is
- 1:43:56Speaker 11: off the injury report, but we know Arizona has been frisky, spunky,
- 1:44:01Speaker 11: of frisky, that's probably the word I was looking for, frisky.
- 1:44:04Speaker 11: This is a tough call for me, man. I think
- 1:44:07Speaker 11: I'm gonna go all right, I'm gonna just err on
- 1:44:09Speaker 11: the side of Joe Burrow and take the They take
- 1:44:11Speaker 11: the Saints, the Saints, the Bengals.
- 1:44:15Speaker 4: I'm taking the Cardinals. Yeah, at home, long trip for
- 1:44:18Speaker 4: the Bengals. They don't That team just looks broken and
- 1:44:22Speaker 4: I like the Cardinals. I think that they're frisky in
- 1:44:24Speaker 4: these types of games.
- 1:44:25Speaker 5: I agree with everything Evan said, but I'm gonna like
- 1:44:28Speaker 5: go down with one more loss with the Bengals. I
- 1:44:33Speaker 5: wonder if if Joe Burrow is sort of trying to
- 1:44:35Speaker 5: do the a noble thing, like he can't be healthy,
- 1:44:39Speaker 5: but he just got the contract. He feels like he
- 1:44:41Speaker 5: has to play, and now he's not only gonna play,
- 1:44:43Speaker 5: he's gonna tell everybody I'm not playing like crap because
- 1:44:46Speaker 5: of my calf. This is on me, you know what
- 1:44:49Speaker 5: I mean. But I don't think he's right. He's not
- 1:44:52Speaker 5: moving at all. But I'm gonna I'll take one more
- 1:44:54Speaker 5: loss backing the Bengals before I rethink my strategy.
- 1:44:58Speaker 1: With you the I think the friskiness of the Cardinals
- 1:45:02Speaker 1: frisky have come to an end. However, unofficially I think
- 1:45:07Speaker 1: the Bengals are gonna win. But officially I'm going with
- 1:45:09Speaker 1: the Cardinals because I can't pick the Bengals four oh five.
- 1:45:16Speaker 1: The four and oh Eagles are at the two and
- 1:45:19Speaker 1: two Rams. This could be a good game.
- 1:45:21Speaker 5: Eagles by four and a half.
- 1:45:23Speaker 9: Wow, pooka nakula, huh poopa? What did he get drafted?
- 1:45:28Speaker 5: Was he undrafted Fifi out of Utah?
- 1:45:32Speaker 11: No?
- 1:45:33Speaker 5: Yuh okay? Yeah? True. But I will also say, did
- 1:45:39Speaker 5: you see that stat on him from Nicoula. He already
- 1:45:42Speaker 5: has the most catches in yards in the first five
- 1:45:46Speaker 5: games of a career. He's only played four.
- 1:45:49Speaker 9: It's insane. I'd like to know what the heck's going on.
- 1:45:51Speaker 5: So if he gets blanked, if he gets blanked on Sunday,
- 1:45:54Speaker 5: he still has the record for the most receptions and
- 1:45:57Speaker 5: yards over the first five games.
- 1:45:59Speaker 1: Did anyone see this one coming with this guy?
- 1:46:01Speaker 14: No.
- 1:46:01Speaker 4: I mean he was a really good route runner and
- 1:46:03Speaker 4: he did had a great week down at the Senior Bowl.
- 1:46:05Speaker 4: But I give a lot of credit to Sean McVay.
- 1:46:08Speaker 4: I think they just know how to get these guys open.
- 1:46:10Speaker 4: Like I think he's playing basically the same role as
- 1:46:13Speaker 4: Cooper Cup and so he's producing like Cooper Cup.
- 1:46:15Speaker 5: Well, now they're saying that when Cup comes back, he
- 1:46:17Speaker 5: can run some of those overs that yah, you know
- 1:46:19Speaker 5: Stafford loves, and they'll have this guy he could open
- 1:46:22Speaker 5: even yea up.
- 1:46:23Speaker 4: No, I think Cup is back at practice. I don't
- 1:46:25Speaker 4: know if he's gonna play, but he's back at practice.
- 1:46:27Speaker 11: Well, I'm gonna take Philly though on the road, I
- 1:46:29Speaker 11: know they haven't played great and they haven't really blown
- 1:46:31Speaker 11: anybody out yet, but I'm gonna take Philly.
- 1:46:33Speaker 9: I'm gonna lay the points. I got a lot of
- 1:46:34Speaker 9: road dogs or road guys this week.
- 1:46:36Speaker 4: I'm also going to take Philly, but I think it's
- 1:46:38Speaker 4: a field goal game. I like the Rams to cover.
- 1:46:41Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm gonna take the upset. I'm gonna take the Rams,
- 1:46:45Speaker 5: and I'm kind of going off of Cooper Cup. I
- 1:46:49Speaker 5: think if he comes back. I think the offense has
- 1:46:51Speaker 5: been pretty good, but now you get Cup with Jefferson
- 1:46:54Speaker 5: and this kid, and I think they could be pretty dangerous.
- 1:46:58Speaker 5: And I think the Eagles have been kind of suspect
- 1:47:01Speaker 5: on defense. So I'm gonna take an upset here, Paul.
- 1:47:05Speaker 5: It's gonna be tough to keep that defensive line off
- 1:47:07Speaker 5: of Stafford, though, I have to.
- 1:47:08Speaker 1: I'm with you, Paul. The Rams give the Eagles their
- 1:47:10Speaker 1: first loss of the season. It's got to come some point.
- 1:47:13Speaker 5: Oh so you were mad at me because I stole
- 1:47:15Speaker 5: your upset?
- 1:47:16Speaker 1: I guess yes.
- 1:47:17Speaker 5: He was giving me the like the lagund Did you
- 1:47:19Speaker 5: see that?
- 1:47:19Speaker 4: Yeah, he was mad about it.
- 1:47:20Speaker 5: Yeah, like he waved me off. Yeah, God bless you
- 1:47:22Speaker 5: min win.
- 1:47:25Speaker 1: The one and three Jets are at the one in
- 1:47:27Speaker 1: three Broncos a real bond burner, Fred.
- 1:47:31Speaker 5: Where's this game being played?
- 1:47:33Speaker 9: Oh, Denver?
- 1:47:33Speaker 1: What do you think? Of course? It's ridiculou Where.
- 1:47:35Speaker 5: Do you think Denver by one and a half?
- 1:47:37Speaker 9: One and a half.
- 1:47:39Speaker 1: Uh?
- 1:47:40Speaker 9: So is Zach Wilson? Is he gonna finally make the
- 1:47:42Speaker 9: jump this week in Denver? I don't think so. I
- 1:47:45Speaker 9: got I got, I got Russell Wilson in the in
- 1:47:47Speaker 9: the Broncos.
- 1:47:49Speaker 4: Thats a very like SportsCenter like te like t Up,
- 1:47:52Speaker 4: there is he gonna do it. I'm also going to
- 1:47:56Speaker 4: take the Broncos at home. They came back last week, right,
- 1:47:59Speaker 4: you know, they went that game, and I think that
- 1:48:02Speaker 4: maybe they have a little bit of juice coming off
- 1:48:04Speaker 4: of that one, and I just I can't pick Zach Wilson.
- 1:48:08Speaker 5: Call me a sucker. I'm gonna fall for the second
- 1:48:11Speaker 5: half of that game, and I'm gonna say they found
- 1:48:12Speaker 5: a little something. I think that maybe he won a
- 1:48:15Speaker 5: few supporters in the locker room by saying this one's
- 1:48:18Speaker 5: on me, when for a change, it really wasn't. I
- 1:48:22Speaker 5: think the defense will play better and being be inspired,
- 1:48:25Speaker 5: and if that team can't come to play after what
- 1:48:29Speaker 5: Sean Payton said about Nathaniel Hackett, then forget about it.
- 1:48:33Speaker 5: Point I like the Jets in Denver.
- 1:48:35Speaker 1: Well, that's a good one, almost enough to make me
- 1:48:38Speaker 1: shift my pick. But I'm going to stick with my
- 1:48:40Speaker 1: original gut instinct and it's Broncos winning this game. Four five.
- 1:48:47Speaker 1: The three and one Chiefs are at the one in
- 1:48:50Speaker 1: three vikings.
- 1:48:52Speaker 5: Case by four and a half, four and a half the.
- 1:48:55Speaker 9: Chefs, I know they're not quite firing on all cylinders.
- 1:48:59Speaker 9: To have Taylor Swift report on that she going to
- 1:49:01Speaker 9: the game Minnesota.
- 1:49:02Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:49:03Speaker 11: She's not going to Minnesota, minnesot I don't think it matters.
- 1:49:06Speaker 11: I'm gonna take case, but I'm gonna take those No, not,
- 1:49:10Speaker 11: I'm gonna play the points.
- 1:49:11Speaker 5: He's not a man of conviction for nothing.
- 1:49:14Speaker 4: I'm just gonna say quickly that the NFL needs to
- 1:49:17Speaker 4: back off of the Taylor Swift stuff like it worked
- 1:49:20Speaker 4: for the first couple of times, Like now, like can
- 1:49:23Speaker 4: we just let let it be? Thank you Chiefs. Though
- 1:49:26Speaker 4: they win, they win comfortably, but I don't need to
- 1:49:28Speaker 4: see her every five minutes in the box. All Right,
- 1:49:30Speaker 4: we get it. She's dating Travis Kelcey.
- 1:49:32Speaker 5: All right, I don't know what kind of feed you're
- 1:49:34Speaker 5: getting I have. I have Kansas City in this game
- 1:49:38Speaker 5: as well with the Boys.
- 1:49:39Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm Kansas City both ways. All right? Eight twenty
- 1:49:43Speaker 1: on n be sure that's a good one. The three
- 1:49:46Speaker 1: and one Cowboys are at the four and oh forty
- 1:49:49Speaker 1: nine Ersnoiners.
- 1:49:52Speaker 5: By three and a half and a half.
- 1:49:53Speaker 1: Wow, it's great.
- 1:49:54Speaker 9: See this is like you know, we got a one
- 1:49:55Speaker 9: o'clock game. I'll get home. This is a good game.
- 1:49:58Speaker 5: I hope this doesn't turn out to be, you know,
- 1:50:00Speaker 5: like the San Francisco just rolls them right, because I
- 1:50:02Speaker 5: am this is like finally a matchup. It's not a
- 1:50:05Speaker 5: division game. It's two teams that are playing well.
- 1:50:08Speaker 9: Some history there, but I'm gonna go with San Francisco.
- 1:50:12Speaker 9: I just think they are too talented and they will win.
- 1:50:16Speaker 4: I am also going to go with San Francisco, and
- 1:50:19Speaker 4: I like them to cover the spread as well. I
- 1:50:22Speaker 4: just I don't think, you know not. I thought the
- 1:50:25Speaker 4: Cowboys let the Patriots implode on Sunday, and they deserve
- 1:50:29Speaker 4: credit for that, I suppose, But I don't think that
- 1:50:31Speaker 4: I was overly impressed with anything that the Cowboys did
- 1:50:35Speaker 4: in that game. It was more the Patriots.
- 1:50:38Speaker 5: So yeah, I just I've been very impressed with San
- 1:50:41Speaker 5: Francisco overall. I think teams have tried some different stuff.
- 1:50:44Speaker 5: I thought the Giants blitz the crap out of brock
- 1:50:48Speaker 5: Party and got them off rhythm early in the game.
- 1:50:50Speaker 5: Didn't matter. He wound up, you know, righting the ship
- 1:50:53Speaker 5: and throwing for three hundred yards. I'm gonna take the Niners.
- 1:50:56Speaker 5: I just think right now they're the best team in football.
- 1:50:59Speaker 9: Rock party, crazy, folks.
- 1:51:06Speaker 1: That was an early game that the Cowboys, a big
- 1:51:08Speaker 1: win for the Cowboys. That gets everybody going crazy about
- 1:51:14Speaker 1: the Cowboys and this is the year, and then they fade.
- 1:51:17Speaker 5: I think this is the game.
- 1:51:18Speaker 1: I think this is it. I think the Cowboys win
- 1:51:20Speaker 1: this game and then everybody goes crazy.
- 1:51:23Speaker 5: I hope you're right.
- 1:51:24Speaker 1: Yeah, but it's a tough one, I you know.
- 1:51:29Speaker 5: I just hope it's a good game, like like the
- 1:51:31Speaker 5: playoff game last year.
- 1:51:32Speaker 9: That was a good that was a good stay up
- 1:51:34Speaker 9: on Sunday night.
- 1:51:35Speaker 1: I want to watch.
- 1:51:36Speaker 5: Yeah, I want to get into a game. I haven't
- 1:51:37Speaker 5: been into a game Roly all year. I want to
- 1:51:39Speaker 5: be into the game with you Monday night.
- 1:51:42Speaker 1: On ABC, ESPN, ESPN two, ESPN Deporte, all your ESPN
- 1:51:47Speaker 1: anywhere else that you can get the mouse. Uh the
- 1:51:50Speaker 1: three and two, the two and two Packers are at
- 1:51:53Speaker 1: the one and three Raiders, Green Bay by one. You
- 1:51:58Speaker 1: remember the Raiders are going to be looking ahead it.
- 1:52:01Speaker 5: I don't know why to the Patriots, but I actually
- 1:52:04Speaker 5: got the biggest takeaway that I had from Fred's upset
- 1:52:07Speaker 5: pick of Dallas is every year Dallas wins one of
- 1:52:10Speaker 5: those games that and he's not even considering last week.
- 1:52:14Speaker 5: It's that game which normally, under normal circumstances, Fred, you
- 1:52:17Speaker 5: would say San Francisco, Big Dallas won the super Bowl.
- 1:52:21Speaker 1: Last weeks have changed, I said, the Patriots where they're
- 1:52:25Speaker 1: get right game.
- 1:52:27Speaker 11: Ah, this is a this is a tough game here
- 1:52:30Speaker 11: for me. I guess probably Aidan O'Connell. We think Jimmy
- 1:52:34Speaker 11: g is still in concussion protocol.
- 1:52:36Speaker 9: So I think I'm gonna go with Green Bay on
- 1:52:40Speaker 9: the road and was two and a half. He said one,
- 1:52:42Speaker 9: one and a half.
- 1:52:42Speaker 8: One.
- 1:52:42Speaker 11: I'll take one, just one straight one, no hook, Okay,
- 1:52:45Speaker 11: I'll take with the Packers minus one.
- 1:52:48Speaker 4: I'm taking the Packers to to win and cover as well.
- 1:52:51Speaker 4: Something stinky in Vegas. That team is just not right. Yep,
- 1:52:55Speaker 4: they're not.
- 1:52:56Speaker 1: Besides the ex Caliber hotel.
- 1:52:57Speaker 4: So there's three. The ex Caliber is a pretty There's
- 1:53:00Speaker 4: three teams that have not scored over twenty points in
- 1:53:03Speaker 4: a game this season, the Patriots and the Saints. So
- 1:53:05Speaker 4: that tells you about that game. And the Raiders are
- 1:53:08Speaker 4: the third team, and they're the only team that has
- 1:53:10Speaker 4: an offensive minded head coach. Mind you so like that
- 1:53:13Speaker 4: the fact that that team can't score points when your
- 1:53:16Speaker 4: coach is supposed to be this offensive guru is tough.
- 1:53:19Speaker 4: That's tough.
- 1:53:20Speaker 5: I'm taking the pack A lot of factoids there, I'm
- 1:53:24Speaker 5: still gonna take the Raiders. I think the Packers stink.
- 1:53:27Speaker 4: Wow, think they stink?
- 1:53:29Speaker 19: I do.
- 1:53:30Speaker 5: I don't think they've looked very good. I think there
- 1:53:32Speaker 5: are the Raiders are good. No, but I'm just going
- 1:53:34Speaker 5: with the home team. I think two bad teams. I
- 1:53:36Speaker 5: generally go with the home team, and I think these
- 1:53:38Speaker 5: are two bad teams. I think the Packers are a
- 1:53:41Speaker 5: shoulder injury away from whatever one win. They were very
- 1:53:45Speaker 5: lucky to win that Saints game. They were down seventeen
- 1:53:47Speaker 5: nothing when Derek Carr got hurt. I don't think they
- 1:53:50Speaker 5: lose that game if he didn't get hurt.
- 1:53:52Speaker 1: Yeah. I just think right now the Packers are a
- 1:53:55Speaker 1: little bit more put together than the Raiders. There is
- 1:53:58Speaker 1: something going on with it.
- 1:54:00Speaker 5: Agree with that. The Raiders look broken.
- 1:54:01Speaker 1: So I'm gonna go with the Packers.
- 1:54:03Speaker 5: But I also think Jimmy g like, yeah, they say
- 1:54:05Speaker 5: that he had a chance to play last week.
- 1:54:08Speaker 4: A lot of people in that locker room, like Aidan
- 1:54:10Speaker 4: O'Connell maybe a little bit better.
- 1:54:12Speaker 5: All right, we go back Josh not being one of
- 1:54:15Speaker 5: them based on his a visceration of the poor kid.
- 1:54:18Speaker 1: Yeah, it's the two and two Saints at the one
- 1:54:21Speaker 1: to three Patriots. And I hear Evan is going to
- 1:54:24Speaker 1: be ringing the bell. Oh yeah, Oh.
- 1:54:28Speaker 9: That's fine, that's news to me.
- 1:54:29Speaker 1: No you're not.
- 1:54:30Speaker 4: It's like who I'll ring the bell? Okay, it's patriot
- 1:54:33Speaker 4: dot Com.
- 1:54:34Speaker 8: Know that.
- 1:54:38Speaker 5: Nerd Patriots by one.
- 1:54:41Speaker 9: And I did see some of the line Shiffanduel Dingle
- 1:54:45Speaker 9: as the Saints by one?
- 1:54:46Speaker 1: What does that mean?
- 1:54:47Speaker 5: What could it mean? But we go by DraftKings.
- 1:54:52Speaker 11: All right, I gotta I'm gonna go with the Patriots here.
- 1:54:54Speaker 11: I know it was bad last week, you know, I
- 1:54:56Speaker 11: just I gotta think that they've got something in the tank.
- 1:54:58Speaker 11: But this is a big, big g for Mac Jones
- 1:55:01Speaker 11: to get right, for the defense to come out and
- 1:55:03Speaker 11: play well and not you know, just bend over against
- 1:55:07Speaker 11: a marginal offense. They have some weapons, you can't let
- 1:55:10Speaker 11: them get free. And certainly Patriots have injury issues that
- 1:55:12Speaker 11: they have to overcome. But I just I have to
- 1:55:14Speaker 11: believe that the Patriots can pull this game. Out turn
- 1:55:16Speaker 11: their season around with a nice win. But I don't
- 1:55:19Speaker 11: think they'll score a.
- 1:55:19Speaker 9: Lot of points. I got Patriots nineteen seventeen.
- 1:55:23Speaker 4: I'm in a similar boat. I think the Patriots find
- 1:55:25Speaker 4: a way to win this game. I'm saying eighteen to fifteen.
- 1:55:30Speaker 5: Well, all Chris Berman, all.
- 1:55:32Speaker 9: Field goals, Oh, Chad Ryland get loose?
- 1:55:34Speaker 5: Six field goals for Chad Ryley scoring drives? Are you high?
- 1:55:38Speaker 5: What did they force? Five turnovers?
- 1:55:39Speaker 1: Wall?
- 1:55:40Speaker 17: They are all?
- 1:55:41Speaker 4: You know, fifty plus field goals Paul chad Ryland with
- 1:55:44Speaker 4: a sixty eight yard field goals say in the all
- 1:55:46Speaker 4: time record today eighteen fifteen Chad Ryland game winner as
- 1:55:52Speaker 4: time expires gives the Patriots a w.
- 1:55:56Speaker 5: I am on board with the mentality and the outcome
- 1:56:00Speaker 5: for both Mike and Evan. I think the Patriots find
- 1:56:02Speaker 5: a way to squeak this one out. Both teams are
- 1:56:04Speaker 5: really dealing with a ton of injuries. It might come
- 1:56:07Speaker 5: down to who has enough healthy bodies. But turnovers. I
- 1:56:13Speaker 5: think a late turnover, maybe by by New Orleans, is
- 1:56:16Speaker 5: the difference in this game. I'm going to say thirteen
- 1:56:17Speaker 5: to ten New England Nengland.
- 1:56:20Speaker 9: Nobody had them breaking twenty twenty.
- 1:56:22Speaker 1: I mean, if you're a pro better, this is a
- 1:56:24Speaker 1: game that you fade in shelf.
- 1:56:28Speaker 9: So I was thinking that, did you talk that through?
- 1:56:31Speaker 19: Like?
- 1:56:31Speaker 1: What is that? He goes, you fade the game, you
- 1:56:37Speaker 1: don't touch it, and you put it on the shelf.
- 1:56:39Speaker 9: Plaction, you don't even pay.
- 1:56:41Speaker 1: It, no mind you shelf? It is that? Okay?
- 1:56:44Speaker 5: Yeah, I haven't heard that alone, alex Evan, you wouldn't
- 1:56:49Speaker 5: have heard of it.
- 1:56:50Speaker 4: No, No, because I just made it up before my time.
- 1:56:52Speaker 1: Yeah no, I just made it up.
- 1:56:54Speaker 9: But it sounds right.
- 1:56:56Speaker 1: We'll do her pace.
- 1:56:57Speaker 5: Well, I'm just gonna write it down.
- 1:57:01Speaker 1: I am picking the Patriots, and I'm a sucker. I
- 1:57:05Speaker 1: think they're gonna score twenty four points, okay, and they're
- 1:57:07Speaker 1: gonna win twenty four to seventeen.
- 1:57:09Speaker 5: So causes seven turnovers?
- 1:57:11Speaker 1: Then no, I think that. I think again I'm a sucker,
- 1:57:17Speaker 1: but I think Mac plays better. This game plays within
- 1:57:21Speaker 1: the system. Riley Reeves stabilizes the right tackle position. H
- 1:57:26Speaker 1: you know, for at least the game. Things look a
- 1:57:29Speaker 1: little bit more settled, and they manage twenty four points.
- 1:57:33Speaker 14: You know.
- 1:57:34Speaker 9: Yeah, So I think what scares me?
- 1:57:36Speaker 1: I'm a little bit more worried about the defense going
- 1:57:38Speaker 1: into this game, actually believe it or not?
- 1:57:40Speaker 5: Me too.
- 1:57:40Speaker 11: Yeah, I think what scares me most about this game
- 1:57:44Speaker 11: is that they that they don't necessarily play all that bad,
- 1:57:47Speaker 11: but they just kind of have some bad luck. And
- 1:57:49Speaker 11: you know, like it's just in one of those games
- 1:57:50Speaker 11: where we really really really need a W and you
- 1:57:53Speaker 11: just can't have one of those games where just kind
- 1:57:55Speaker 11: of something fluky and stupid happens and that's what decides
- 1:57:58Speaker 11: the game.
- 1:57:58Speaker 9: Like, they have to be able to put the game away.
- 1:58:00Speaker 1: I feel, yeah, you want to. You want a real win,
- 1:58:03Speaker 1: not a fluke they won because of something they did.
- 1:58:06Speaker 9: I mean, if it's on their way, I'll take what
- 1:58:07Speaker 9: I can get.
- 1:58:07Speaker 4: I mean, I hear what I just I feel like
- 1:58:09Speaker 4: at some point, at some point, one of these two
- 1:58:11Speaker 4: teams has to score some points, right, Like, you're not
- 1:58:14Speaker 4: gonna go a whole season of not never breaking twenty points.
- 1:58:18Speaker 4: He just doesn't happen in the NFL. So whichever one
- 1:58:20Speaker 4: of these teams can find a way to have that
- 1:58:23Speaker 4: game is gonna win this game.
- 1:58:25Speaker 1: Yep.
- 1:58:26Speaker 5: So Alex likes the Patriots as well. She picks a
- 1:58:29Speaker 5: score of twenty one to seventeen.
- 1:58:31Speaker 1: Good Okay, selection sounds reasonable. Okay, Well that's it for
- 1:58:36Speaker 1: this edition of Patriots Unfiltered. Coming up next is Catch
- 1:58:40Speaker 1: twenty two with Evan and Alex, so they're really gonna
- 1:58:44Speaker 1: dive deep into Mike Asiki I hear? Is that?
- 1:58:47Speaker 7: No?
- 1:58:48Speaker 1: No?
- 1:58:48Speaker 9: And Evan's bell ringing too, He's at the top of
- 1:58:50Speaker 9: my list.
- 1:58:51Speaker 5: No.
- 1:58:51Speaker 4: Yeah, I didn't know about this bell ringing though.
- 1:58:54Speaker 1: Yeah, So get you know, dressed accordingly. Not the bell
- 1:58:57Speaker 1: up on the just because I know how media doesn't
- 1:58:59Speaker 1: like to be throwing a curve ball when it comes
- 1:59:02Speaker 1: to the weather. So bring a backpack and be ready
- 1:59:04Speaker 1: for any type of weather up there, because it's different,
