- 0:01Speaker 1: Welcome to Dirty Rush, The Truth about Sorority Life with
- 0:04Speaker 1: your hosts me Gia.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Judice, Daisy Kent, and Jennifer Fessler.
- 0:11Speaker 3: This is a very special episode of Dirty Rush. We
- 0:14Speaker 3: are on a top secret sorority girl and one fraternity
- 0:19Speaker 3: boy retreat. I will not even say where we are,
- 0:23Speaker 3: but what we want you all to know is that
- 0:26Speaker 3: it's work week and a lot of people are probably
- 0:28Speaker 3: saying to themselves, the hell is work week? A sorority girl,
- 0:33Speaker 3: especially this younger era of sorority girls, really knows what
- 0:38Speaker 3: work week is. I think in I am fifty, so
- 0:41Speaker 3: in my era, I don't know that we actually called
- 0:44Speaker 3: it work week, but we called it pre rush. So
- 0:48Speaker 3: we want to let everybody listening in on the secrets
- 0:52Speaker 3: of work week. So we begin with Catherine, who is
- 0:59Speaker 3: a current Kapa Kapa gamma at a school we will
- 1:02Speaker 3: not name.
- 1:04Speaker 4: Uh, Catherine, what year are you?
- 1:07Speaker 5: I'm going to be a senior, So let me ask
- 1:10Speaker 5: you this first.
- 1:12Speaker 3: Do seniors get to do less work during rush than
- 1:16Speaker 3: sophomores and juniors?
- 1:18Speaker 5: We do less during work week?
- 1:21Speaker 6: We do the same amount as Rush just because we've
- 1:24Speaker 6: already done it in the past.
- 1:26Speaker 5: We've learned everything. We kind of the gist.
- 1:28Speaker 6: We'll go into work week the last day just to
- 1:31Speaker 6: like get our groove.
- 1:32Speaker 5: With the younger people.
- 1:34Speaker 6: Make sure that like we can like memory, like re
- 1:36Speaker 6: memorize everything, because it's like it's like riding a bike,
- 1:39Speaker 6: like you learn the songs once, like you get it
- 1:41Speaker 6: again after doing it with the group.
- 1:43Speaker 5: But Rush you are there for the entire part of it.
- 1:46Speaker 3: So for people listening, work week is happening right now
- 1:49Speaker 3: all over the country, and at some schools work week
- 1:51Speaker 3: is actually two weeks. I was astounded to learn that
- 1:55Speaker 3: at your school, is it work week?
- 1:58Speaker 4: Is it how long? It's taking a.
- 1:59Speaker 6: Week and half like counting weekends and like a couple
- 2:03Speaker 6: like two days before rush as well, So it's probably
- 2:06Speaker 6: it's around like nine days for us.
- 2:07Speaker 3: So can you give us an overview of for you,
- 2:10Speaker 3: what work week is? What is happening during work week?
- 2:14Speaker 6: Yeah, we A lot of it revolves around learning bump groups.
- 2:20Speaker 6: Bump groups change each round of Rush. It can change
- 2:23Speaker 6: depending on how many people are in each party. I
- 2:26Speaker 6: mean some days you're having twelve parties in just sisterhood day,
- 2:29Speaker 6: and there's a certain amount of number of girls, and
- 2:31Speaker 6: like you're figuring that out day of five minutes before
- 2:34Speaker 6: you're opening those doors and having these p and ms
- 2:36Speaker 6: come in. So a lot of it is you're matching
- 2:40Speaker 6: girls in your bump group.
- 2:42Speaker 3: You're literally like you don't start to interrupting, but you
- 2:44Speaker 3: don't do the same bump group for the whole week. No,
- 2:47Speaker 3: what is the strategy behind changing the bump group?
- 2:50Speaker 5: We our first two days we do randoms.
- 2:53Speaker 6: So when we have the p and ms in front
- 2:55Speaker 6: of the door, you grab the first girl that you see,
- 2:57Speaker 6: Like we teach everyone, like the first person you lock
- 3:00Speaker 6: guys with, you were grabbing them and you were walking
- 3:02Speaker 6: with them.
- 3:03Speaker 4: Are you also.
- 3:03Speaker 3: Taught that that girl is the shiniest star you've ever
- 3:06Speaker 3: met in your life?
- 3:07Speaker 5: Absolutely? Absolutely, you are. You better know their name.
- 3:11Speaker 6: And you better know where they're from, their hometown, asking
- 3:15Speaker 6: them questions because those things also then you need to
- 3:18Speaker 6: remember it going to vote for them right after, because
- 3:20Speaker 6: you're gonna talk to like three girls in one party,
- 3:23Speaker 6: and if you don't remember their name, you don't remember
- 3:25Speaker 6: like the facts about them, You're gonna go after they
- 3:27Speaker 6: leave and have to go vote on them and be like,
- 3:29Speaker 6: oh my god, like who was this girl? I'm trying
- 3:31Speaker 6: to remember her. I'm trying to remember her face. It's
- 3:33Speaker 6: like you need to like lock those things then for
- 3:35Speaker 6: sure as a.
- 3:36Speaker 3: Bump group whole. Or do you vote individually and do
- 3:38Speaker 3: you vote on an app?
- 3:40Speaker 5: We vote on an app.
- 3:41Speaker 6: We you go into a private room with your bump group.
- 3:44Speaker 6: Our bump groups are normally around three girls. Max, You're
- 3:48Speaker 6: really not supposed to talk to your people about it
- 3:51Speaker 6: if you need to ask a question of like, hey, like,
- 3:54Speaker 6: I'm really feeling kind of conflicted right now because like
- 3:56Speaker 6: I liked this girl, but like I don't know like
- 3:58Speaker 6: how well she would fit in the or like I
- 4:00Speaker 6: don't know if she seems like she really cares or
- 4:02Speaker 6: like values like our chapter, et cetera. So like you
- 4:04Speaker 6: can ask for like advice, like you really should not
- 4:07Speaker 6: like be trying to And.
- 4:09Speaker 3: Two quick questions, can somebody that knows that girl previously
- 4:12Speaker 3: vote on her?
- 4:13Speaker 5: Yes?
- 4:14Speaker 3: And also do you have I don't know what we
- 4:16Speaker 3: call them, maybe roamers, Like they're not in a bump group,
- 4:18Speaker 3: but they're roaming and they can go up and talk
- 4:21Speaker 3: to anyone they want during a party and then go
- 4:23Speaker 3: vote on that girl.
- 4:24Speaker 6: No, we cannot do that. You like absolutely. The only
- 4:27Speaker 6: time that you can do that is PREF. And what
- 4:29Speaker 6: we do is if you know the girl as like
- 4:31Speaker 6: you went to high school with her or you were
- 4:34Speaker 6: I don't know, some type of like hometown person to her,
- 4:36Speaker 6: you can go into their like the room that she's
- 4:39Speaker 6: talking to someone in and like walk in and be
- 4:42Speaker 6: like hi, Like we do this thing where for PREF
- 4:46Speaker 6: we read like letters, like we read like letters from
- 4:49Speaker 6: like your like their parents, and like we surprise them
- 4:51Speaker 6: with them. So like sometimes like we'll have like the
- 4:54Speaker 6: person that they know like homeship come in and be
- 4:57Speaker 6: like hey, like I wanted to come in and like
- 4:59Speaker 6: like read these letters to you.
- 5:00Speaker 5: And then's supposed to do this like whole floaterer buying.
- 5:03Speaker 3: So a floater could go during the party and talk
- 5:07Speaker 3: to anyone they want and then go vote on the person.
- 5:10Speaker 6: If a floater for us, you can only vote on
- 5:14Speaker 6: them if you had a conversation with them. If you
- 5:16Speaker 6: did not have a conversation with them, you cannot vote
- 5:18Speaker 6: on them.
- 5:18Speaker 3: Interesting, all right, So for everybody again, sum up what
- 5:22Speaker 3: is happening during work week? What is possibly being done
- 5:27Speaker 3: twenty four hours a day for more than a week
- 5:30Speaker 3: to prepare.
- 5:31Speaker 6: For Rush overall grand things, your songs, memorizing them, doing
- 5:37Speaker 6: them with one hundred and twenty girls.
- 5:40Speaker 4: You sing a little of one of your songs. Yeah,
- 5:42Speaker 4: I could let.
- 5:43Speaker 6: Me think Kaya Pfea take it twice an Ada Ga
- 5:48Speaker 6: Mma Kapa Kappa Gamma. Yeah, and we do that. That's
- 5:52Speaker 6: like our day one song. And you do that for
- 5:55Speaker 6: maybe ten minutes while all the girls are coming into
- 6:00Speaker 6: the house.
- 6:00Speaker 5: And then once everyone's say.
- 6:02Speaker 4: Open while you're singing or do you have to wait
- 6:03Speaker 4: till it's closed.
- 6:06Speaker 5: Once the door closes, that's when we stop singing.
- 6:08Speaker 4: That's like that you're now allowed to sing when they
- 6:11Speaker 4: come in.
- 6:11Speaker 6: Yeah, so they'll be coming in, everyone's singing, and then
- 6:14Speaker 6: once that door closes, that's like the queue for everyone
- 6:16Speaker 6: to stop singing. It has to like travel down throughout
- 6:18Speaker 6: the house for everyone to know like done.
- 6:20Speaker 3: Okay, so we'll get I mean, obviously, welcome to season
- 6:23Speaker 3: two of Dirty Rush. This is you know, great stuff.
- 6:26Speaker 3: We're going to bring this all to you live from
- 6:29Speaker 3: all over the country at Sorority Rush everywhere. But right
- 6:33Speaker 3: now we're focusing on work week. So again, tell me
- 6:36Speaker 3: the most probably the top five things other than a
- 6:39Speaker 3: bump group that happened, So bump group song. Give me
- 6:42Speaker 3: three more things.
- 6:44Speaker 6: The things that you need to ask them and how
- 6:47Speaker 6: to respond to questions of like day for example, they
- 6:49Speaker 6: prepare you of like you might have a girl that's
- 6:51Speaker 6: going to come in and say, like I want to
- 6:54Speaker 6: be in a sorority, to go to frat day parties
- 6:57Speaker 6: and meet a frat guy and have him be my boyfriend,
- 6:59Speaker 6: which is exactly.
- 7:00Speaker 4: What ninety nine percent of every girl wants.
- 7:02Speaker 6: And so we'll do like practice conversations, like literally like
- 7:06Speaker 6: our like president and vice president will walk around and
- 7:08Speaker 6: make sure that we're like actually practicing this, and like
- 7:10Speaker 6: we'll like literally practice I use this question.
- 7:13Speaker 3: Say if someone says I want to be in this
- 7:15Speaker 3: house because you party with the cutest fraternity boys.
- 7:18Speaker 6: You have to just really divert and be like, well,
- 7:21Speaker 6: so being in Greek life obviously, like we have a
- 7:24Speaker 6: lot of great fraternities. They're very very You have to
- 7:27Speaker 6: be so careful about not saying rats.
- 7:30Speaker 5: You cannot say frat names.
- 7:32Speaker 6: It has to be a fraternity or a sorority or
- 7:35Speaker 6: just overall cross life.
- 7:36Speaker 4: Okay, we are.
- 7:38Speaker 5: Greek life is a community.
- 7:39Speaker 6: You're gonna get to know so many other people, and
- 7:42Speaker 6: it's really a school inside of a school, and luckily,
- 7:45Speaker 6: like we're able to do so many fun events with
- 7:48Speaker 6: and it can all be real.
- 7:49Speaker 3: So there's one, two, three, four, five, six, seven of
- 7:52Speaker 3: us here, all in a sorority and one fraternity.
- 7:58Speaker 5: Do you ever.
- 7:58Speaker 3: Feel like and again we're gonna get back to work week,
- 8:01Speaker 3: that you're lying during rush? I mean yeah, like that
- 8:05Speaker 3: just seems like a lie. Like if somebody actually said
- 8:09Speaker 3: to me, Hey, I want to be in this sorority
- 8:11Speaker 3: because you hang out with really fun boys and I
- 8:13Speaker 3: hope one of them is gonna be my boyfriend and
- 8:15Speaker 3: just make my college experience great.
- 8:17Speaker 4: That is actually true.
- 8:19Speaker 6: We have this thing, and it's like a very like
- 8:21Speaker 6: common known thing I think amongst people who've done rush.
- 8:24Speaker 6: Now to where the very every single day until pref
- 8:28Speaker 6: PREF is the day to where you can like let
- 8:30Speaker 6: loose and like you actually talk about.
- 8:32Speaker 5: Like drinking and dating and partying.
- 8:34Speaker 4: So we lie to you. We lied to you.
- 8:36Speaker 6: We lie to you, like that's like the rules of
- 8:38Speaker 6: like you don't talk about like the.
- 8:40Speaker 3: Okay, so we're handing them my phone to M. We're
- 8:43Speaker 3: gonna call her M who we love, hold on who
- 8:46Speaker 3: went to a different school, and what sorority were you
- 8:48Speaker 3: at this unnamed school?
- 8:50Speaker 7: I was in Alpha Fie Alpha Fee.
- 8:51Speaker 4: Okay, these are top houses these girls are in.
- 8:53Speaker 7: Okay to you and then you get haste.
- 8:58Speaker 4: Oh okay, well let's talk about it.
- 9:00Speaker 3: We're gonna we're getting distracted here at our sorority retreat.
- 9:03Speaker 4: We're on, but we're gonna go back to work week.
- 9:04Speaker 3: But give the microphone to em for a second there,
- 9:07Speaker 3: so EM, do you hayes because I was in a.
- 9:11Speaker 4: Sorority and we do not hayes.
- 9:13Speaker 3: We hayze interesting And would you say, uh, that's at
- 9:18Speaker 3: your school, this particular unnamed school, Alpha Fee or do
- 9:21Speaker 3: you feel that that could be the case.
- 9:25Speaker 4: Of Alpha FI in general?
- 9:27Speaker 7: I feel like it's definitely a mix of both.
- 9:30Speaker 8: I feel like a lot of schools try to make
- 9:32Speaker 8: it like an undercover thing, but they must definitely do it.
- 9:36Speaker 8: And the girls depending who you get preffed by, and
- 9:39Speaker 8: the girls who's like gonna be your big or like
- 9:41Speaker 8: you connected with during work week and rush they you
- 9:45Speaker 8: got with them, at least we did. We went out
- 9:47Speaker 8: with them on the first night after you got your bid,
- 9:50Speaker 8: and they would.
- 9:51Speaker 5: We'd go out and do whatever and.
- 9:52Speaker 9: Go to frash.
- 9:54Speaker 3: Oh, okay, this is gonna be a whole other episode
- 9:56Speaker 3: because right now we're gonna focus back on work week.
- 9:58Speaker 3: But this sorority retre we're on is gonna bring you
- 10:01Speaker 3: a lot of top secret information. And the reason we
- 10:04Speaker 3: don't use real names, and the reason we don't say
- 10:06Speaker 3: schools is because we want to be able to bring
- 10:09Speaker 3: you the real truth. So back to work week. So
- 10:15Speaker 3: bump groups, songs, how to answer really lie? How lie
- 10:20Speaker 3: when someone asked you a question?
- 10:21Speaker 4: Got it? And what are two more things that happened
- 10:23Speaker 4: during work week?
- 10:25Speaker 5: Your social videos? Okay, with all the other houses too.
- 10:29Speaker 4: From my era?
- 10:30Speaker 3: Also, I can unequivocally say there was no hazing at
- 10:34Speaker 3: all zero in my era. But we'll go that'll be
- 10:37Speaker 3: a different episode. So these social videos, So what is
- 10:43Speaker 3: the point of them? What do you feel as the
- 10:46Speaker 3: point of these?
- 10:47Speaker 6: I think the main point is honestly for the p
- 10:49Speaker 6: and ms to see the like overall the vibes of
- 10:52Speaker 6: the houses, but then also be able to tell like
- 10:55Speaker 6: this looks like it would be the top house, Like
- 10:57Speaker 6: this looks stizing advertising is like the this is like
- 11:01Speaker 6: all the really pretty girls with really cute style and
- 11:04Speaker 6: like they look fun and like energetic and like they
- 11:07Speaker 6: like I think it's like a way for you to
- 11:10Speaker 6: like be able to try to compete with all the
- 11:11Speaker 6: other houses of like we're the coolest house, Like we're
- 11:14Speaker 6: the best house, and like so the p and ms
- 11:16Speaker 6: know when they're going in, like we want them to
- 11:17Speaker 6: be like out in front of our door being like
- 11:19Speaker 6: oh my god, I'm at Kappa right now, like like nervous,
- 11:22Speaker 6: but like a good nervous, like I want this house.
- 11:25Speaker 3: It is the social media that does that or reputation
- 11:28Speaker 3: through the years.
- 11:29Speaker 6: I think mainly social media, because unless they know someone
- 11:33Speaker 6: that goes to that school, they're not really gonna have
- 11:35Speaker 6: a full answer as to like what the top houses
- 11:38Speaker 6: are at least I know, like when I was coming
- 11:41Speaker 6: into my school, like I was able to solidly like
- 11:43Speaker 6: look at each school's Instagram and kind of be like
- 11:46Speaker 6: I see this vibe, like I see this house, like
- 11:48Speaker 6: I see that house, and like you can kind of
- 11:50Speaker 6: see like where you would want to probably fit in
- 11:53Speaker 6: and yeah, So.
- 11:55Speaker 3: How much time is put into all that hoopla that
- 11:59Speaker 3: is happening in those videos which I also just realized
- 12:02Speaker 3: it's really only the front girls actually doing the dances.
- 12:04Speaker 3: I didn't realize that until I really zoomed in. I
- 12:06Speaker 3: thought the whole house was doing these dances, and then
- 12:09Speaker 3: I realized, like the majority of the girls are just
- 12:11Speaker 3: doing waving in the background, and then this handful of
- 12:14Speaker 3: like eight ten girls is actually performing.
- 12:17Speaker 4: How much time do those things take?
- 12:20Speaker 6: It takes a few tries, Like it definitely like you're
- 12:22Speaker 6: out there for probably like an hour, like in the sun,
- 12:25Speaker 6: like in your guys's costumes, and when doing these dances,
- 12:28Speaker 6: cracking those things.
- 12:30Speaker 4: I'm coming over.
- 12:31Speaker 3: We got people we at this retreat we're at. There's
- 12:34Speaker 3: a lot of sority girls and they are ready to
- 12:36Speaker 3: raise their hands.
- 12:36Speaker 4: We're coming in to you.
- 12:37Speaker 6: But a lot of them for us, we choose all
- 12:40Speaker 6: the girls who are on the dance team have been
- 12:43Speaker 6: on the dance team, and like our social media chair,
- 12:46Speaker 6: like she will have the tiktoks that we're gonna do
- 12:48Speaker 6: the night before, She'll send them to the girls who
- 12:51Speaker 6: are like our dance girls, Hey, learn this choreo tonight
- 12:54Speaker 6: and like Uriah, yeah, all the linga, this is how
- 12:57Speaker 6: it's gonna be, and have it ready to go by them.
- 12:59Speaker 3: All that would be the social media chair as opposed
- 13:02Speaker 3: to the rush chair. Does the rush chair have any
- 13:05Speaker 3: say approval over it?
- 13:06Speaker 6: Honestly no, I think they're so word with so much
- 13:08Speaker 6: other stuff that they're like I don't care about, like
- 13:10Speaker 6: the social media crop.
- 13:11Speaker 4: And is rush chair what do you guys call that?
- 13:14Speaker 4: We call it rush chair? Okay?
- 13:16Speaker 5: Is that recruitment chair?
- 13:18Speaker 3: Recruitment chair? Is that a coveted office? What did you
- 13:21Speaker 3: do you guys we called office? What do you guys
- 13:23Speaker 3: call it leaders leadership?
- 13:25Speaker 5: We call it leadership?
- 13:26Speaker 3: Is that something that is a coveted position? Or is
- 13:30Speaker 3: that known as like that job as hell?
- 13:32Speaker 5: It's kind of known as like that job as hell?
- 13:34Speaker 6: And like you are gonna it's like you're committing your
- 13:37Speaker 6: whole summer to it, pretty much like you're once you're
- 13:40Speaker 6: done after mid day, like your job is pretty much done,
- 13:42Speaker 6: but like your summer is literally dedicated to planning.
- 13:45Speaker 4: So does the rush chair prepare that plan the outfits?
- 13:49Speaker 6: They plan the outfits, they plan the hours like they're
- 13:52Speaker 6: the ones to like do the timing for everything.
- 13:54Speaker 4: Yeah, And is that are these outfits?
- 13:56Speaker 3: So do you get like a note during summer like
- 13:58Speaker 3: please bring one black, this one white, this one pink this.
- 14:03Speaker 6: Yeah, it's it's very like your first two days, everyone's
- 14:05Speaker 6: handed shirts. Then we have to do floral, and then
- 14:08Speaker 6: the next floral we do floral dresses.
- 14:11Speaker 5: Everyone.
- 14:11Speaker 6: Everyone has to wear a certain type of floral dress.
- 14:13Speaker 6: The next day we have to wear a specific blue
- 14:16Speaker 6: shade dress for philanthropy.
- 14:18Speaker 3: Okay, quick question, now, is it like if you don't
- 14:21Speaker 3: have love shack fancy poo poo on you, or is
- 14:24Speaker 3: it like hey, got this at home goods.
- 14:25Speaker 4: I mean not home goods, sorry, TJ Max, I'm good.
- 14:28Speaker 6: It's more so just like don't be wearing a kind
- 14:31Speaker 6: of more like skimpy dress, like okay, look like like
- 14:35Speaker 6: they're more so like we want to look classy.
- 14:37Speaker 4: Like we're not here to like find you.
- 14:38Speaker 6: Yeah, like yes, like we want to look like we're
- 14:41Speaker 6: speaking ell again, got it?
- 14:43Speaker 4: Got it? Got it? Great?
- 14:44Speaker 3: So nobody's too brand name me labely conscious. It's just
- 14:49Speaker 3: like fit the theme.
- 14:50Speaker 6: It's fit the theme and like look like you know,
- 14:54Speaker 6: you could go to like lunch with your grandma on
- 14:57Speaker 6: this dress. Like we don't want to be looking like
- 14:59Speaker 6: we're gonna go out to the.
- 15:00Speaker 3: It's the in your opinion sort of thought process behind
- 15:04Speaker 3: that that it's just classier for the rushies.
- 15:09Speaker 6: I think, like at least with my house, like we've
- 15:12Speaker 6: definitely there's definitely stereotypes and like negative things that go
- 15:16Speaker 6: around top houses when you go through recruitment of like
- 15:21Speaker 6: they like our house is very much like they only
- 15:23Speaker 6: take in blondes or like all their girls are just
- 15:26Speaker 6: like dumb and like partiers or whatever. So it's like
- 15:28Speaker 6: you more so like want to like go into rush
- 15:30Speaker 6: of Like no, like we have our shit together, like
- 15:34Speaker 6: I promise, like we're not like a mess or anything
- 15:37Speaker 6: like that. So it's more just to like keep a
- 15:39Speaker 6: good reputation going because like if you're a top house
- 15:42Speaker 6: like on like your yik yak and whatever, like you're
- 15:44Speaker 6: gonna get like slander and hate for a lot of things.
- 15:46Speaker 3: Oh wow, okay, so I yik yak I've heard of
- 15:50Speaker 3: that was not around in my day. Let's pass the
- 15:52Speaker 3: microphone to M. Now, M, you went to.
- 15:55Speaker 4: A school.
- 15:57Speaker 3: Maybe, I'll say on the West coast. You're not a
- 16:00Speaker 3: Southern school, You're not a Texas school. So what does
- 16:07Speaker 3: work week mean to you? And how long was work week?
- 16:12Speaker 7: Work week was kind of like a dedicated week.
- 16:15Speaker 8: It was a week for us just one week, and
- 16:18Speaker 8: it was dedicated for us where we could not go out,
- 16:20Speaker 8: could not drink.
- 16:21Speaker 7: It was like super locked in.
- 16:23Speaker 3: So does that mean like you have every meal in
- 16:25Speaker 3: the house, like can you walk down to yogurt park
- 16:28Speaker 3: or so for.
- 16:29Speaker 8: Us we could only eat in on Mondays on Monday
- 16:32Speaker 8: night dinner after a chapter house. Yes, so you're allowed
- 16:35Speaker 8: to leave the house. And I didn't ever live in
- 16:37Speaker 8: the Chopter house.
- 16:38Speaker 9: So during week.
- 16:39Speaker 8: Work week, and our houses are so small they couldn't
- 16:41Speaker 8: even house all of us.
- 16:42Speaker 3: So is are you going over to the sorority to practice?
- 16:46Speaker 3: Is it similar to what Catherine was talking about at
- 16:49Speaker 3: all with all all her priorities.
- 16:52Speaker 7: No kind of yes and no, oh wait, give them
- 16:58Speaker 7: mic back.
- 16:58Speaker 6: Work week is like your week to go out and
- 17:01Speaker 6: like party. It's like, oh that's not dry. Rush is dry.
- 17:05Speaker 6: But so like since rush is dry, they're very much like,
- 17:08Speaker 6: so this is your time to go out and have fun.
- 17:10Speaker 3: When when work day is done, then it's at nine
- 17:14Speaker 3: o'clock or whatever it is, then it's on and you're
- 17:16Speaker 3: heading down the hill.
- 17:17Speaker 6: Literally, girls are like looking at it like to the
- 17:19Speaker 6: hour of like once twelve o'clock hits, like you're dry
- 17:22Speaker 6: and then the moment after mid day immediately go out.
- 17:26Speaker 3: Okay, now back to you, M what would happen if
- 17:28Speaker 3: somebody did not show up for work week.
- 17:32Speaker 8: I did not show up for work week and I
- 17:34Speaker 8: did not get punished.
- 17:35Speaker 4: Really yeah, and why did you not show up?
- 17:39Speaker 8: I just knew how horrible it was my big how
- 17:42Speaker 8: horrible was but my first year, I was actually out
- 17:44Speaker 8: of town did not go to work week, and then
- 17:46Speaker 8: after that I was like, Okay, I heard all this
- 17:48Speaker 8: horrible things after my bid group like went and my
- 17:52Speaker 8: piano like year went, and they're like, it's so horrible
- 17:54Speaker 8: to not go. So I was on vacation actually the
- 17:56Speaker 8: last week.
- 17:57Speaker 3: Question not sorry to do so when they describe it
- 17:59Speaker 3: as horrible, why why do you think work week has
- 18:03Speaker 3: this reputation of being horrible.
- 18:06Speaker 8: It's kind of just like a dedicated week where you
- 18:08Speaker 8: put in like so much effort and so much time
- 18:12Speaker 8: for p and ms. Yes, and like the outcome as
- 18:14Speaker 8: you can find like a great little but at the
- 18:16Speaker 8: same time it's like cool, like we're just dying to
- 18:19Speaker 8: go out.
- 18:22Speaker 4: WHOA, Okay, I didn't follow any of that. I'm not
- 18:24Speaker 4: gonna lie. I just totally did not follow that give
- 18:26Speaker 4: it to me again. So is it the work of
- 18:30Speaker 4: work week?
- 18:31Speaker 8: Or yeah, see the dresses you have to buy, the
- 18:35Speaker 8: punishments that you get if you don't show up.
- 18:37Speaker 4: If you can't go back, get a punishment.
- 18:40Speaker 8: Well like once you're in it, Like I mean, all right,
- 18:43Speaker 8: and it's just like a lot of work, Like people
- 18:45Speaker 8: dread having to buy the dresses, going standing in the sun,
- 18:49Speaker 8: learning the dances, posting on social media, having alpha fy.
- 18:53Speaker 7: In your bio, not talking to the p and ms
- 18:56Speaker 7: like it was.
- 18:56Speaker 4: Just I have to laugh because honestly, it doesn't sound
- 18:59Speaker 4: hard at all. It really doesn't. So all you.
- 19:02Speaker 3: Delicate flowers out there when you actually have to go
- 19:05Speaker 3: to work are gonna be.
- 19:07Speaker 6: In nice hour days of like not our days longer
- 19:12Speaker 6: and longer like guys the real world days sometimes.
- 19:16Speaker 3: But give it back to m m uh. Did you
- 19:19Speaker 3: participate in rush? And I guess my question is if
- 19:23Speaker 3: you don't participate in work week, are you like totally
- 19:28Speaker 3: not aware of how to do rush?
- 19:31Speaker 4: Are you screwed? Essentially? If you don't do work week
- 19:34Speaker 4: and then you show up for Rush.
- 19:35Speaker 7: I didn't show up for Rush either, I just like
- 19:37Speaker 7: didn't do the whole thing.
- 19:38Speaker 9: I never had a little.
- 19:40Speaker 4: You seem like not a great sorority member.
- 19:42Speaker 9: Yeah, I wasn't.
- 19:42Speaker 4: I think we're gonna take the mic from m and
- 19:45Speaker 4: pass that along.
- 19:46Speaker 3: Actually, before we go to the girls, let's go to
- 19:49Speaker 3: our one fraternity boy. Man who's here, he's a man boy.
- 19:55Speaker 3: Hello Michael, nice to see you. So, Michael, we will
- 19:59Speaker 3: not name your school, but what is your fraternity?
- 20:01Speaker 7: I'm in Sigma Kay.
- 20:03Speaker 3: Great so well known fraternity across the country. Hearing the
- 20:07Speaker 3: girls here, women ladies talk about work week? Is there
- 20:12Speaker 3: anything that a fraternity does similar to this at all?
- 20:18Speaker 2: I think the biggest thing is just meeting the guys.
- 20:22Speaker 2: So the rush chair has kind of go through the
- 20:25Speaker 2: same thing, making a list of all the new guys Instagrams,
- 20:29Speaker 2: social medias and trying to meet them. I know people
- 20:31Speaker 2: do some our meetups in certain towns, like there was
- 20:34Speaker 2: a Chicago one I knew some kids at. There was
- 20:37Speaker 2: a lot of people from Seattle at my school that
- 20:39Speaker 2: all met up before.
- 20:41Speaker 3: It does seem like there's way less rules, way less
- 20:44Speaker 3: restrictions total, and you kind of meet each other in
- 20:47Speaker 3: the summer and have an idea of the guys you
- 20:49Speaker 3: want to have probably become pledges, yeah, and are you okay?
- 20:55Speaker 4: So for guys, there is there a work week at all.
- 20:58Speaker 3: No, So they're literally like rush starts this day, see
- 21:02Speaker 3: you the night before.
- 21:03Speaker 2: Actually, technically we do have a work week, it's mainly
- 21:06Speaker 2: it's like rush week.
- 21:08Speaker 4: Oh, it would be the same pil.
- 21:11Speaker 2: Like I think the last two nights were up to
- 21:12Speaker 2: like four am talking about the guys okay, deciding who
- 21:15Speaker 2: you want to get, going through all them voting, But
- 21:19Speaker 2: the first two nights are kind of just getting down
- 21:21Speaker 2: getting some stories. I know it's different for every frattorney,
- 21:23Speaker 2: but we had to get like seven stories for like
- 21:27Speaker 2: each one's like ones and if their social ones like
- 21:32Speaker 2: man of good character, man like it's stuff like that.
- 21:35Speaker 4: You have to get some similarity, you have to get.
- 21:38Speaker 4: Most attorneys are not like that, are not like that.
- 21:41Speaker 2: We have to ask questions during rush week about filling
- 21:49Speaker 2: these I guess like I don't know, yeah, yeah exactly,
- 21:55Speaker 2: but I wouldn't you say over there, yes, But it's
- 22:03Speaker 2: not really a work week.
- 22:04Speaker 3: So I would think again, the work week for the
- 22:07Speaker 3: boys men would be cleaning the house. Is that part
- 22:11Speaker 3: of it? Like trying to make the house look a
- 22:14Speaker 3: little less yucky?
- 22:16Speaker 2: No, they don't care about don't care. I mean it
- 22:19Speaker 2: looks clean it before a party.
- 22:21Speaker 4: Oh but not before rush?
- 22:22Speaker 7: But before rush?
- 22:24Speaker 2: I mean no, now is.
- 22:27Speaker 4: There can you show Okay?
- 22:29Speaker 3: So if you are a guy going through rush, can
- 22:33Speaker 3: you just show up at a house or no? Do
- 22:35Speaker 3: you have to be invited to come in? Is there
- 22:38Speaker 3: any like open day? Like any dude can come in?
- 22:40Speaker 4: There are open days? I know it's different.
- 22:42Speaker 2: I've been I've done Rush at two different schools transferred,
- 22:46Speaker 2: but there's usually one or two days that are open
- 22:50Speaker 2: and like the next day will be like.
- 22:52Speaker 4: A to have a text or something.
- 22:54Speaker 2: But oh wow, Yeah, it's interesting.
- 22:58Speaker 3: That panelmic is so strict with women and just lets
- 23:00Speaker 3: these men go hogwild. Really kind of uh, I don't
- 23:04Speaker 3: know what to say about that. Maybe we'll dig into
- 23:06Speaker 3: that as season two of Dirty Rush goes on, because
- 23:10Speaker 3: that really Panelmic is very strict with these rush rules
- 23:14Speaker 3: for women, and yet it does seem like guys and
- 23:17Speaker 3: I guess it's you know, over the you know, years
- 23:22Speaker 3: and years and years. That's the way it goes Like,
- 23:26Speaker 3: is there any there doesn't seem to be the same rules,
- 23:28Speaker 3: like can you.
- 23:29Speaker 4: Guys go out during Rush week?
- 23:31Speaker 7: Totally.
- 23:32Speaker 4: And can you.
- 23:32Speaker 3: Talk to a dude and say, hey, we're probably gonna
- 23:34Speaker 3: give you a bid. There any rules about.
- 23:36Speaker 2: That where you have to be Attorney's different in the
- 23:39Speaker 2: promising bid things. We don't promise that at all. Okay,
- 23:41Speaker 2: there's a lot of frattorneys that will promise you a
- 23:43Speaker 2: bid and it gets a kid all excited because he's
- 23:45Speaker 2: like a freshman in college.
- 23:47Speaker 4: He gets super stoked.
- 23:48Speaker 9: But we don't promise that.
- 23:50Speaker 4: Interesting, all right, thank you for contributing, Michael, great work.
- 24:08Speaker 3: We're gonna now go to zoom where we have a
- 24:11Speaker 3: top secret person joining who wasn't even able to come
- 24:14Speaker 3: to this retreat we're on. We're we gathered this group
- 24:18Speaker 3: together and we're in a secret location so that we
- 24:20Speaker 3: can really find out, like really really, what is happening
- 24:24Speaker 3: at work weeks all over the country. This is an
- 24:27Speaker 3: interesting sorority member who has to participate in work week.
- 24:32Speaker 3: But then we'll become what the older generation would call
- 24:35Speaker 3: a roki. I think people call it a rogue, gam
- 24:38Speaker 3: a rush counselor et cetera. So let's talk to our secret,
- 24:44Speaker 3: secret secret person right now to get some information on
- 24:47Speaker 3: what happens when you are a Rush counselor hello, secret
- 24:54Speaker 3: person who is We are not going to give a
- 24:57Speaker 3: name or a location for you, but we have some
- 24:59Speaker 3: quest es. So, uh, we know that you will be
- 25:03Speaker 3: not participating in sorority Rush because you will be a
- 25:06Speaker 3: roki rush counselor what do they call it at your school?
- 25:10Speaker 10: My school, we call it a recruitment counselor or an
- 25:13Speaker 10: RC for sure.
- 25:15Speaker 3: Okay, great, So do you have to participate in work
- 25:19Speaker 3: week even though you are not able to participate in
- 25:22Speaker 3: Rush because you disaffiliate?
- 25:25Speaker 4: Is that the right word?
- 25:26Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 25:27Speaker 10: I become a disaffiliated member. So that pretty much means
- 25:30Speaker 10: I have to remove myself with all affiliation for my sorority.
- 25:35Speaker 10: I delete everything for my Instagram, I take it off
- 25:39Speaker 10: my LinkedIn. My chapter deletes me from their Instagram, and
- 25:45Speaker 10: I become pretty much like an anonymous member.
- 25:48Speaker 4: What is the reason for that?
- 25:49Speaker 1: Is that?
- 25:50Speaker 3: Why does it have to be so top secret for
- 25:54Speaker 3: the roki because they really don't want these new rushies
- 25:58Speaker 3: as we would call them PA and.
- 26:00Speaker 10: M cnm's yeah, potential new member.
- 26:04Speaker 3: Why do they want so much for them to not
- 26:07Speaker 3: know the house that the Roqui is a part of.
- 26:10Speaker 10: You're RC, like the only contact you really have throughout
- 26:15Speaker 10: rush week, and oftentimes p and MS become very close
- 26:19Speaker 10: with rcs, and we would never want PNM to choose
- 26:23Speaker 10: a chapter solely based on if there r C is
- 26:26Speaker 10: in it or not. We want P and MS to
- 26:29Speaker 10: focus on what happens during rounds when they talk to houses,
- 26:34Speaker 10: not what happens outside of rounds. So by eliminating the
- 26:37Speaker 10: bias of the chapter of the RC, we help P
- 26:41Speaker 10: and MS make a values based recruitment decision instead of
- 26:46Speaker 10: choosing chapter based on more typical stereotypes.
- 26:51Speaker 3: Now, what made you want to become RC as opposed
- 26:55Speaker 3: to participating in rush with your sorority.
- 26:58Speaker 10: When I went through primary recruitment as a P and M,
- 27:02Speaker 10: I was very close with my RC and she helped
- 27:05Speaker 10: me a lot during recruitment, and I thought it would
- 27:08Speaker 10: be interesting to not only see what the other side
- 27:10Speaker 10: of recruitment was like, but also help other girls who
- 27:15Speaker 10: are going through something similar and help them choose a
- 27:19Speaker 10: chapter where they see themselves being most successful.
- 27:22Speaker 3: So I guess my question is how, how and why
- 27:26Speaker 3: do you participate in work week when you then have
- 27:29Speaker 3: to disaffiliate. What will you do during work week with
- 27:33Speaker 3: your chapter and is there a reason they want, you know,
- 27:37Speaker 3: roquis rcs to stay and still participate in work week.
- 27:42Speaker 10: There are so many things that we need to learn
- 27:44Speaker 10: as rcs, and like special ways we talk about things.
- 27:49Speaker 10: Certain chapters at my campus are unhoused. One could say,
- 27:55Speaker 10: but technically we're supposed to use the term flexible housing.
- 28:00Speaker 4: What does that mean in real terms? What does that mean?
- 28:03Speaker 10: In real terms? It means one sorority at our school
- 28:07Speaker 10: lost their house because they couldn't have enough members joining
- 28:10Speaker 10: the sorority. So during recruitment, they're the only chapter who
- 28:14Speaker 10: recruits from a recruitment facility instead of their chapter house.
- 28:19Speaker 10: So we have to speak very loosely when we talk
- 28:23Speaker 10: about chapter houses as to.
- 28:24Speaker 4: Not hurt ex.
- 28:28Speaker 10: Yes, as to not exclude anyone from the primary recruitment process.
- 28:33Speaker 5: There's also.
- 28:35Speaker 10: Primary recruitment can be really hard for p and ms,
- 28:38Speaker 10: so finding ways to help them and like we have
- 28:41Speaker 10: a lot of training on John Gille conversations.
- 28:46Speaker 3: My apologies for interrupting during work week? Do you get
- 28:49Speaker 3: trained how to be a rokui as opposed to do
- 28:52Speaker 3: a bump group or learn the songs or all the
- 28:53Speaker 3: things that other people are doing during Russia are you
- 28:57Speaker 3: getting your training to be an RC?
- 28:59Speaker 2: Yes.
- 29:00Speaker 10: Instead of spending my day doing a bump group or
- 29:03Speaker 10: talking to members, I'm like sitting in presentations and learning
- 29:07Speaker 10: about what it means to be an RC and kind
- 29:09Speaker 10: of what my responsibilities might be.
- 29:11Speaker 4: Do you have to get picked to be an RC?
- 29:13Speaker 4: Do you volunteer? How does that work to be a
- 29:15Speaker 4: ROCI at my school?
- 29:16Speaker 10: Least, it's a pretty extensive application process. A lot of
- 29:21Speaker 10: people want to be an RC just because they are
- 29:25Speaker 10: tired of recruiting, and it's kind of easier some people think.
- 29:31Speaker 10: But we have to apply, submit essays, and then we
- 29:37Speaker 10: are called in for an interview, and after your interview
- 29:40Speaker 10: you hear back via email. But each chapter does have
- 29:43Speaker 10: to have five people apply to the positions, so they
- 29:48Speaker 10: want the number of our ces to be balanced throughout
- 29:51Speaker 10: the chapters.
- 29:51Speaker 4: Got it?
- 29:52Speaker 3: Got it so that not one house has all the
- 29:54Speaker 3: roquies exactly, don't have representation exactly.
- 29:58Speaker 4: It's almost like a therapist these the rush.
- 30:02Speaker 10: Yes. Yeah, we've had some crazy stories from recruitment, as
- 30:07Speaker 10: in our sea my friend had a P and M
- 30:08Speaker 10: who like locked themselves in the bathroom and refused to
- 30:12Speaker 10: leave until they got the house back that they wanted,
- 30:16Speaker 10: and obviously there's nothing that anybody can do after a
- 30:19Speaker 10: round has been decided.
- 30:20Speaker 4: So oh wow, it's story dramatic.
- 30:23Speaker 3: That's the word I was going to use as well. Well,
- 30:25Speaker 3: thank you so much. I appreciate it. Welcome back to
- 30:42Speaker 3: Dirty Rush. So basically what is happening is we are
- 30:44Speaker 3: doing our own version of a work week where we
- 30:47Speaker 3: gathered many sorority members in one fraternity member.
- 30:53Speaker 4: Somehow we got like we had one guy here.
- 30:55Speaker 3: But to really be able to bring you everything that's
- 31:00Speaker 3: happening at Rush around the country work week, we have
- 31:04Speaker 3: people live at Rush throughout the country to really peel
- 31:09Speaker 3: back the curtain and let you guys know what really
- 31:11Speaker 3: goes on behind these Greek lettered closed doors. So Lee,
- 31:17Speaker 3: first of all, does work week seem a little bit crazy?
- 31:21Speaker 6: Like?
- 31:22Speaker 4: Is it a little bit? How do I ask? This?
- 31:27Speaker 3: A lot of work for something that maybe could be easier.
- 31:33Speaker 1: I would say, so, I feel like it's kind of
- 31:38Speaker 1: especially nowadays with social media, I would say it's extra.
- 31:42Speaker 3: Yeah, Like it seems like we're putting in maybe twice
- 31:45Speaker 3: as much time to some of these things as maybe
- 31:48Speaker 3: as necessary.
- 31:49Speaker 4: But I get it.
- 31:50Speaker 3: I remember doing it So at your school, which we
- 31:53Speaker 3: won't name, your sorty with theta, what does work week
- 31:58Speaker 3: mean to you?
- 31:59Speaker 4: From your school?
- 32:01Speaker 5: Work week?
- 32:04Speaker 1: It's hard to encapsulate it into word one word. It's
- 32:07Speaker 1: just intense and kind of to your point for no reason,
- 32:11Speaker 1: Like it's a really big everybody's just so intense about.
- 32:15Speaker 4: I was getting fights and screaming matches and drama.
- 32:18Speaker 9: Yeah, there's a lot of drama.
- 32:20Speaker 1: Emotions are high, people are overtired, people feel like they're overwork.
- 32:24Speaker 4: Yeah, and dancing is hard.
- 32:27Speaker 9: I mean it's so hard out in the Texas Sea.
- 32:30Speaker 3: But also is it fun at all? I have many
- 32:34Speaker 3: memories of its sort of being fun. Would anyone call
- 32:36Speaker 3: it fun?
- 32:37Speaker 1: I think so, Yeah, I think some people would. It's
- 32:40Speaker 1: just not everybody's cup of tea. But it kind of
- 32:43Speaker 1: just comes with the gig. So some people love it,
- 32:45Speaker 1: some people hate it. But what's interesting, at least about
- 32:49Speaker 1: where I went to school is how kind of, like
- 32:54Speaker 1: I was saying, intense, it's gone and we're like, now
- 32:56Speaker 1: you need to submit your outfits weeks before and they can.
- 33:00Speaker 4: Do that with a photo.
- 33:02Speaker 3: Yeah, so you need to have it all map sounds
- 33:05Speaker 3: different than Catherine's school, so you commit a photo, and again,
- 33:09Speaker 3: is a brand name label more is a brand name label.
- 33:17Speaker 4: Easier to get approved.
- 33:18Speaker 3: Than TJ Max or you know, Problem Macs Amazon.
- 33:24Speaker 9: But it kind of depends.
- 33:25Speaker 1: Because work week itself, there's two things you need to
- 33:28Speaker 1: get approved, and it's your work week outfits and.
- 33:30Speaker 9: It's Rush week outfits.
- 33:32Speaker 4: A prison every day is themed of work week? Yes,
- 33:37Speaker 4: why because of social media?
- 33:38Speaker 1: Yeah, because of social media and they use it to
- 33:40Speaker 1: market the whole thing.
- 33:41Speaker 4: And so if it's would you say you have to
- 33:43Speaker 4: have for all of this all.
- 33:45Speaker 1: In Well, there's five weekdays of work week, which are
- 33:48Speaker 1: like the five days you're posting about it and doing
- 33:50Speaker 1: social along with preparing for Rush. So those five outfits
- 33:53Speaker 1: need to match the theme and you need to submit
- 33:55Speaker 1: them and get them approved.
- 33:56Speaker 3: And then for Rush person has to go through all
- 34:00Speaker 3: these photos approving the Rush chair terrible, like they don't
- 34:04Speaker 3: already have.
- 34:04Speaker 4: Enough things on there.
- 34:05Speaker 1: Okay, all right, but yeah, then for Rush Week, I mean,
- 34:08Speaker 1: you get two T shirts for the first two rounds
- 34:10Speaker 1: because it's two days of I don't even remember what
- 34:13Speaker 1: it's called the first round, but everybody coming through and
- 34:16Speaker 1: you just wear a T shirt that says cap alphatata
- 34:18Speaker 1: on it, and then after that you need to wear
- 34:21Speaker 1: dresses and those need to get a purch.
- 34:22Speaker 4: You have a floral day like Catherine over there.
- 34:25Speaker 9: I don't think we had a floral day. All of
- 34:26Speaker 9: ours were colored like we did because those are our colors,
- 34:32Speaker 9: as colors.
- 34:32Speaker 4: Are black and gold.
- 34:33Speaker 9: And then there was one other day that was like runch.
- 34:36Speaker 3: You could wear and were you allowed to drink during
- 34:38Speaker 3: work week? No, you have to be completely dry, and
- 34:40Speaker 3: I feel like to leave the house, you're allowed to.
- 34:43Speaker 3: But you what's interesting is you have to wear a pin.
- 34:45Speaker 3: So every sorority like you have this big pin that
- 34:49Speaker 3: you have to have.
- 34:50Speaker 9: On your shirt. So you'll see the girls who are p.
- 34:53Speaker 1: And ms at the gym and you're wearing this pin
- 34:57Speaker 1: so they know they can't talk to.
- 34:59Speaker 3: You, or you'll all right moving in around. So that
- 35:02Speaker 3: the town just says like I'm in a sorority. It
- 35:04Speaker 3: doesn't say it says your sorority. So what if some
- 35:08Speaker 3: rushie is there early and then they start figuring out
- 35:11Speaker 3: who's in what house.
- 35:12Speaker 1: It doesn't matter because they'll they'll okay, yeah, correct. And
- 35:16Speaker 1: then if you're a rogramma, you get I think you
- 35:20Speaker 1: get like a rogamma pin, so.
- 35:22Speaker 3: They know that you're okay. So you go to the gym,
- 35:24Speaker 3: and who's not allowed to talk to you? Anyone going
- 35:27Speaker 3: through rush?
- 35:28Speaker 9: Anyone going through rush?
- 35:29Speaker 4: Now can you talk to other sororities if you want to?
- 35:32Speaker 1: You can, but you shouldn't, like technically you shouldn't, but
- 35:35Speaker 1: some kind of a tie fire or dj oh, girls
- 35:38Speaker 1: and other sororities. You mean, yeah, you can talk to
- 35:40Speaker 1: girls and other sorties. I thought you meant the p
- 35:42Speaker 1: and ms you shouldn't talk to the p and ms.
- 35:44Speaker 1: But some girls kind of instigate and they test the
- 35:46Speaker 1: waters and see how others.
- 35:47Speaker 4: And would that be classified as dirty rush? Or okay?
- 35:52Speaker 3: Now what if, like you have a friend from hometown
- 35:55Speaker 3: going through rush, and are they technically not supposed to
- 35:57Speaker 3: talk to you?
- 35:58Speaker 1: Technically not, but you can give a hug and be like, hey,
- 36:00Speaker 1: how are you welcome?
- 36:01Speaker 9: We're so excited that you're made it to X y
- 36:04Speaker 9: Z school.
- 36:04Speaker 1: Okay, got it, But it just shouldn't be any conversation
- 36:07Speaker 1: shrouding rush.
- 36:08Speaker 9: So it looks suspended.
- 36:09Speaker 3: Do you feel also that during work week your coach
- 36:12Speaker 3: to give the proper answer as opposed to maybe what's
- 36:17Speaker 3: the most truthful answer. I'd say in analyzing all this,
- 36:23Speaker 3: the one flag I have is like, why we're all
- 36:26Speaker 3: putting on airs is what I would call it, as
- 36:29Speaker 3: opposed to just being like, here's what college is really like.
- 36:33Speaker 4: Enjoy I know, do you know what I'm saying, because.
- 36:35Speaker 3: I know two days later after Rush you're just suddenly
- 36:38Speaker 3: real I'm like, that's probably maybe something we.
- 36:41Speaker 4: Should dig into this season on Yeah, Rush.
- 36:44Speaker 3: So would you say work week is valuable in some regards?
- 36:51Speaker 1: Yes, because I mean you would be amazed at the
- 36:54Speaker 1: way that college girls can pull together an event like
- 36:57Speaker 1: this and have it so organized. It It honestly is
- 37:01Speaker 1: very very impressive what gets pulled off and work week
- 37:06Speaker 1: and it's it's like a little business and you're marketing yourself,
- 37:09Speaker 1: you're doing the social media whatever.
- 37:10Speaker 4: But I like what I would consider a semi Broadway production.
- 37:14Speaker 4: I guess I would want to it the same thing.
- 37:16Speaker 1: Yeah, it's pretty intense, and it really does amaze me
- 37:21Speaker 1: how many things actually do get done.
- 37:23Speaker 3: I guess the question I have is do twenty percent
- 37:25Speaker 3: of the girls do ninety percent of the work? I
- 37:28Speaker 3: would say so, And would you say that that's the
- 37:30Speaker 3: case for your schools we're not even gonna ask m
- 37:33Speaker 3: because she didn't even participate.
- 37:35Speaker 4: So the answer is yes, Catherine.
- 37:37Speaker 3: Would you say a small number of girls are doing
- 37:42Speaker 3: way more than their share of work during work week?
- 37:45Speaker 5: Hundred percent? I think it depends.
- 37:47Speaker 6: So for us, we put the younger girls because those
- 37:50Speaker 6: are the girls who are going to be getting littles.
- 37:52Speaker 5: We have them do majority of the work.
- 37:54Speaker 6: Of you're talking to multiple girls in one round, you're
- 37:58Speaker 6: the one that's kind of your both talking, you're singing,
- 38:01Speaker 6: you're it's like a whole mix of things to compare
- 38:04Speaker 6: to some girls where it's like we're gonna have you
- 38:06Speaker 6: kind of just float around and maybe like walk a
- 38:08Speaker 6: girl off.
- 38:08Speaker 3: Yeah, and does anyone like come in the house, gets
- 38:11Speaker 3: their name checked off, like they're here, and then they
- 38:12Speaker 3: go hide in a room and like play on their
- 38:14Speaker 3: phone or whatever.
- 38:15Speaker 6: Like I mean, like the seniors when it comes to
- 38:17Speaker 6: work week, it's like they're planning their Vegas trips for
- 38:20Speaker 6: that week.
- 38:20Speaker 3: And then I don't know how memories of yeah, work
- 38:23Speaker 3: week be rash as a senior. All right, So to
- 38:27Speaker 3: wrap it up, first of all, it's an interesting concept
- 38:31Speaker 3: work week. I do think in some ways it makes
- 38:34Speaker 3: sense right, You have to prepare to put on events.
- 38:39Speaker 3: Like Lee was saying over here that it's like you
- 38:42Speaker 3: can't just open the door for a party without planning
- 38:45Speaker 3: the party. What's also interesting is, like a party, you
- 38:49Speaker 3: prepare for the party, and then the party.
- 38:52Speaker 4: Last twenty minutes. Do you know what I mean? Like
- 38:53Speaker 4: when you're throwing a dinner party.
- 38:55Speaker 3: You prepare, prepare, prepare, buy all the things, decorate the house,
- 38:58Speaker 3: clean the house, do all these things, and then your dinner.
- 39:01Speaker 4: Last two hours.
- 39:02Speaker 3: The work is much more than the actual event. I
- 39:07Speaker 3: guess My thing I want to know as we wrap
- 39:10Speaker 3: up here is one word to describe work week? Did
- 39:17Speaker 3: you actually love it or hate it? And is it
- 39:22Speaker 3: effective for each of you? One word to describe work week.
- 39:29Speaker 5: I liked the word intense, but I'll also say dramatic.
- 39:32Speaker 4: Great, And do you think it's worth it? Ultimately?
- 39:36Speaker 5: I think it's worth it.
- 39:37Speaker 6: I think depending on your school obviously and how you
- 39:39Speaker 6: guys orchestrate it. But it's all rehearsed. It's more so
- 39:42Speaker 6: what yeah, it's work weeks about like rehearsing for the.
- 39:47Speaker 4: Day of Would you use the word fake or not quite?
- 39:49Speaker 5: No, I would use the word fake Okay, great.
- 39:51Speaker 3: Good to know and I forgot my last question menopause,
- 39:53Speaker 3: but I think it was.
- 39:55Speaker 4: Is it worth it?
- 39:57Speaker 9: Yeah?
- 39:57Speaker 6: I mean you want to, like, you want to show
- 39:58Speaker 6: up day of have these p and m's come in,
- 40:00Speaker 6: and like you want to know what you're doing. You
- 40:01Speaker 6: don't want to feel lost, and you don't want them
- 40:03Speaker 6: to know that you are lost either. And like if
- 40:05Speaker 6: they pick up on any little queue that you guys have,
- 40:08Speaker 6: that you guys are practicing, like, they'll immediately know that
- 40:11Speaker 6: that's all say.
- 40:11Speaker 3: The hammock of messing up a bump group is like
- 40:16Speaker 3: actual full fear.
- 40:17Speaker 4: Yeah, it's full body fear.
- 40:19Speaker 5: There are so many little things that we I.
- 40:21Speaker 3: Don't know where I'm going, I don't know what I'm doing,
- 40:23Speaker 3: and my whole body has gone limp.
- 40:25Speaker 4: Yeah, okay, m over to you. Can you even describe
- 40:30Speaker 4: work week? Since you seem like the very bad sorority member.
- 40:36Speaker 7: I would say it's very overhyped.
- 40:39Speaker 3: Okay, and uh worth it now because you didn't even
- 40:44Speaker 3: do it exactly?
- 40:44Speaker 4: What was my other question?
- 40:47Speaker 5: Did you like?
- 40:48Speaker 11: Who cares? Who cares? Did you love it or hate it?
- 40:52Speaker 11: She doesn't hate it, she didn't do it? Okay, Lee,
- 40:56Speaker 11: work week, I literally menopause. I forgot my questions worth.
- 40:59Speaker 1: It in one word, I would keep giving, give another word,
- 41:03Speaker 1: give another word, like.
- 41:05Speaker 4: Hell or fun like hell. But to me, overhyped was
- 41:11Speaker 4: a good word.
- 41:12Speaker 9: Yeah, I think overhyped is a good word to me.
- 41:14Speaker 9: I just didn't like how calculated it felt.
- 41:17Speaker 4: Calculated.
- 41:17Speaker 1: Okay, how calculated and you're just like planning your every
- 41:21Speaker 1: move and what you were saying earlier.
- 41:22Speaker 9: It's kind of fake.
- 41:24Speaker 1: It's kind of like you can't talk about these things
- 41:27Speaker 1: that immediately the second reends, you're gonna talk about and
- 41:30Speaker 1: you're gonna bond over and that's the whole reason you're
- 41:32Speaker 1: gonna be friends, because you're in college and you're going
- 41:34Speaker 1: out and you're kissing wooz and you're having it misleading.
- 41:37Speaker 3: I don't know if the word is misleading, but you
- 41:39Speaker 3: are misleading these rushies, as you you know, as.
- 41:42Speaker 4: Me said a little bit.
- 41:43Speaker 1: But I do feel like most of them are cuted
- 41:45Speaker 1: into like what happened gets after they get the vibe.
- 41:48Speaker 4: They get worse. It is all that work worth it, I.
- 41:51Speaker 1: Don't know, Like to me, no, but I think it
- 41:55Speaker 1: also depends on your experience and your sority. I was
- 41:58Speaker 1: like kind of met about some people love their sorority.
- 42:01Speaker 4: Minute of it. I'd go back today. I'd like to
- 42:03Speaker 4: live there.
- 42:03Speaker 3: Literally, we're like planning a reunion right now, and there's
- 42:06Speaker 3: like every day I add a new member to the
- 42:08Speaker 3: text chat for our reunion and I get so happy.
- 42:11Speaker 3: I loved every second of it. I hope when we're
- 42:13Speaker 3: eighty that we all just moved back into the house together.
- 42:16Speaker 4: Work week was like rough. It just was a lot.
- 42:22Speaker 4: That's I guess that was what I would say, It's
- 42:23Speaker 4: just a lot. It's a lot.
- 42:25Speaker 3: But I also know that, like I said, messing up
- 42:29Speaker 3: is worse. Honestly, Yeah, it's real stressful.
- 42:32Speaker 4: It would be.
- 42:32Speaker 5: It would be.
- 42:33Speaker 4: So look, you're you're you.
- 42:35Speaker 3: Want to put on a good front to these people
- 42:38Speaker 3: coming in who it does impact their college experience completely,
- 42:42Speaker 3: So you don't want to just.
- 42:43Speaker 4: One hundred percent lazy about it.
- 42:46Speaker 1: Yet you want to choose a great pledge cost because
- 42:47Speaker 1: you want to continue your legacy and remain a house
- 42:51Speaker 1: that is top and whatever that regardless for you. Like
- 42:54Speaker 1: for my sorority grades, we were always hopping grades for
- 42:57Speaker 1: the past like ten years.
- 42:58Speaker 9: Once I had got there. I don't know how I know.
- 43:02Speaker 1: That's a different story. But they were so serious about grades,
- 43:05Speaker 1: and so they really wanted to choose girls who were
- 43:08Speaker 1: fun and nice but also academic and whatever. So whatever
- 43:11Speaker 1: your values are, you really want to right, we hold
- 43:13Speaker 1: the line.
- 43:14Speaker 3: I think that wraps up sort of our inside look
- 43:17Speaker 3: at work week. We're going to continue it. And thanks
- 43:19Speaker 3: for listening to Dirty Rush.
- 43:21Speaker 4: Let's get dirty.
- 43:22Speaker 1: Thanks
