A 37-year-old man, Scebi Thabiso Nene, has been convicted and sentenced for cybercrimes after manipulating and distributing explicit fake images of President Cyril Ramaphosa and other top public officials.
What did he do?
+ Between September 2022 and May 2023, Nene:
•Downloaded images of President Ramaphosa, former Police Minister
Bheki Cele, Cele’s spouse, and a former National Police Commissioner
•Edited these images by superimposing their faces onto pornographic
content
•Shared the fake images on WhatsApp and even via official Presidency
email addresses
