- 0:00Dot com. Welcome to the Daily Quote, the
- 0:05podcast designed to kick start your day in a positive way.
- 0:10I'm your host, Andrew Mcgevern, and this episode is brought to
- 0:13you by the Great News Podcast. And I think you should listen
- 0:17because good news should be heard.
- 0:20And the link is right here in the show notes.
- 0:23Today's quote comes from John Lennon, Co founder of The
- 0:27Beatles, one of the most influential musicians and
- 0:31cultural voices of the 20th century, and a man who spent his
- 0:35life choosing love in a world that gave him plenty of reasons
- 0:41for fear. He once said there are two basic
- 0:47motivating forces, fear and love.
- 0:51When we are afraid, we pull back from life.
- 0:54When we are in love, we open to all that life has to offer with
- 1:00passion, excitement, and acceptance.
- 1:04This quote's a little bit long, but it's a good 1-2 forces.
- 1:11Every decision you make traces back to one of them.
- 1:15Fear pulls you back. It closes the door before you've
- 1:19seen what's on the other side. It keeps you in the job you've
- 1:24outgrown, the relationship pattern that you recognize, the
- 1:29version of yourself that feels safe because it's familiar.
- 1:34Fear isn't always loud. Often it's quiet and reasonable,
- 1:38dressed up as caution, practicality, and even patience.
- 1:43But its signature is always the same contraction, the smaller
- 1:49life, the pulled back hand. But love opens you up.
- 1:55Not romantic love specifically, but the broader love Lenin is
- 1:59pointing at the love of what you're building, the love of the
- 2:04people you're building it for, the love of who you're becoming.
- 2:09That force doesn't contract, it expands.
- 2:12It says yes to difficulty because the thing on the other
- 2:16side is worth it. It tolerates uncertainty because
- 2:20the direction is clear. Its signature is always the
- 2:24opposite of fears, openness, movement, life lived forward.
- 2:30Lenin knew both from the inside, a man who faced extraordinary
- 2:35public scrutiny, loss, and the special kind of isolation that
- 2:40comes with being one of the most famous human beings alive.
- 2:45And he still chose, again and again, to Orient toward love
- 2:50rather than retreat into fear. It was a decision he made daily.
- 2:56Here's what makes this useful. You can ask yourself, in any
- 2:59given moment, which force is driving the decision in front of
- 3:03you. Is it?
- 3:07Is this a love move or a fear move?
- 3:11Am I stepping forward or am I pulling back?
- 3:16Am I opening or contracting? The answer doesn't always change
- 3:21what you do, but knowing the answer tells you something
- 3:25important about who is actually making the decision, the part of
- 3:29you that's alive or the part of you that's afraid.
- 3:34So here's the question. The most important decision in
- 3:38front of you right now is it being shaped by love or by fear?
- 3:45Because both are always available, both will always be
- 3:49present. The question is simply which one
- 3:53you hand the wheel to. Choose the one that opens.
- 3:59Choose the one that moves you forward.
- 4:02Choose as Lenin did. Choose love.
- 4:08Love Is All you need. Or is it all you need is love?
- 4:14That's it for today. I'm Andrew McGivern, signing off
- 4:16for now, but I'll be back tomorrow.
- 4:21Same pod time, same pod station with another daily quote.
