Dot com Welcome to the daily quote, the podcast designed to
• 0:06
kick start your day in a positive way.
• 0:09
I'm your host, Andrew Mcgibbon for July 24th.
• 0:12
Now buckle up, literally, because today is national day of
• 0:16
  motoring. Whether you're someone who
• 0:18
lovingly names your car or you still have that check engine
• 0:22
light on from 2019, today's the day to celebrate the Open Rd.,
• 0:27
the Hamadan engine, and the beauty of just driving.
• 0:33
You don't have to own a vintage Mustang or a sleeky bee to
• 0:36
participate. It's about the joy of the
• 0:39
journey, not the horsepower. Although horsepower does help,
• 0:44
especially when you need to merge onto the highway or
• 0:47
overtake those slow pokes. Which brings me to today's quote
• 0:51
from Ralph Waldo Emerson, who once said life is a journey, not
• 0:58
a destination. Now, Emerson wasn't talking
• 1:01
about your GPS rerouting for the fifth time, but he might as well
• 1:06
have been. This quote ties perfectly into
• 1:08
the spirit of motoring, and not just because it gives you
• 1:12
permission to take the scenic route.
• 1:14
Think about it. In driving and life, we often
• 1:18
get fixated on the end goal, the next achievement, the final
• 1:23
stop, the arrival. But the real growth, the real
• 1:27
  experiences, they happen in motion.
• 1:31
They happen in the detours, in the roadside diners, in the
• 1:35
traffic jams that force you to slow down and maybe listen to a
• 1:40
podcast like this one. So today, whether you're
• 1:44
commuting, Rd. tripping, or just idling in your driveway,
• 1:48
remember that it's not about where you're going, it's about
• 1:52
how you're getting there. And if your car breaks down
• 1:56
halfway through the metaphor, well, that's part of the
• 1:59
adventure too. That's all for today.
• 2:01
I'm Andrew McGivern, signing off for now, but I'll be back
• 2:05
tomorrow. Same pod time, same pod station
• 2:10
  with another daily quote.
