- 0:21her chicken coop along with all her chickens.
- 0:28Hey, everybody. Good morning.
- 0:29From the chicken coop question of the day, are we here to help
- 0:35each other or are we here to just help ourselves?
- 0:39Oh, it's a very, very big philosophical question today.
- 0:43You know, this came about because I was in the grocery
- 0:46store, and you know how you go through the line, You go to
- 0:49check out, and I'm still a person that does not just have
- 0:52them bring it out to the car? OK?
- 0:54I go to the grocery store. I want to look at my things.
- 0:56I want to see what else I can throw in my car at because it's
- 0:59like an adventure hunt for me. And in the process of this, you
- 1:02go to check out and they ask you, would you like to round up
- 1:06to help? Whatever 'cause they're helping?
- 1:09And I have this habit being very honest with all of you of saying
- 1:14no, because I don't want somebody else to decide where
- 1:17I'm donating to. So I I know it's coming and I'm
- 1:22just not willing to do it. And part of the part of me is
- 1:24also one of these people that's like I want to do something that
- 1:27I believe is going to matter. So I want to do something live
- 1:31in action where I donate to a small shelter.
- 1:34I get find out what their wish list is, I send them things,
- 1:38that kind of stuff. So I I don't like the corporate
- 1:40portion of this, but I understand it has its place and
- 1:43some people like it and that's totally OK.
- 1:45It's just a matter of preference.
- 1:46But anyway, back to this thing of are we here to help each
- 1:49other or we just here to take care of ourselves?
- 1:51So I'm a couple people back and I hear a man answer the
- 1:56question. He says sure, happily.
- 1:58Would you like to round up to donate to whatever it was they
- 2:01were donating to? He says sure, he does it.
- 2:04The next woman in front of me goes up.
- 2:07The cat guy asked her the same exact question, and she says
- 2:11very rudely to him. Absolutely not.
- 2:14Absolutely not. They're thieves.
- 2:16I don't want to give them the money, and I hate that you ask
- 2:20me this every time I come in the grocery store.
- 2:22Now there's part of me that feels her pain because I'm like,
- 2:25why are we doing this? But there's part of me that
- 2:28says, OK, they found a way to get people in the spot, on the
- 2:31spot, to donate. And I get it.
- 2:34This is, this is a strategy. It's an influence strategy that
- 2:37many companies use. But I'm looking at this poor kid
- 2:40who's at the cash register doing his job, his minimum wage job, I
- 2:46might add. And this woman's being
- 2:48incredibly harsh with him because he's just doing what
- 2:52he's told to do. He has no control over what he's
- 2:54asking. And I'm looking at his face and
- 2:57he says, OK And he doesn't really care one way or another
- 3:00if she donates, He just has to ask the question.
- 3:03So when I get up there, he goes to ask me the question.
- 3:07And I was like, no, thank you. And he's like, oh, thanks, like,
- 3:10like he was. You could see that he was happy
- 3:13that I was just more neutral about it.
- 3:15Like, no thanks. I'm just not doing it.
- 3:18And it got me thinking about the fact that one, our response to
- 3:22these things has to be part of this bigger thing, which is what
- 3:26they're looking for, is are we here to help each other or are
- 3:29we just here to help ourselves? And I truly do believe we're
- 3:32here to help each other. I believe that we are here to
- 3:35help each other. I believe that we are here to
- 3:38help. Even even the people who are not
- 3:41sweet, even the people who are not nice, even the people who
- 3:44are evil, put us in a position where we are allowed to grow.
- 3:49And I've said that before on here, I I think that when you
- 3:53have the antagonist, when you have that in your life, when you
- 3:56have that rub, that sand in your shoe, the grit in the oyster, it
- 4:01causes things to happen and helps us grow.
- 4:05And just like this, I believe that we are here to help each
- 4:09other overall. That is our goal.
- 4:12It's one of the reasons why I do this podcast every day.
- 4:14I don't get paid for this podcast.
- 4:16I do it every single day because I want to help people and I
- 4:20don't make money on it and I get people ask me all the time from
- 4:24where I host it, do you want to put ads in it?
- 4:26And I'm like, Nope, no ads. It's just staying the way that
- 4:29it is Because it's important to me to add value in the world and
- 4:33know that there are people, my fans, that listen to it
- 4:36regularly. I'm helping them.
- 4:39And that's just part of my dynamic.
- 4:43Part of the way my brain processes things is if I am
- 4:47under the the guise of we're here to help each other and I'm
- 4:51helping and I'm doing something for the greater good.
- 4:54But it when we start to really think about where else are we
- 4:58showing up in the world, we have to ask, well am I here to help?
- 5:01Am I here to do something? Like for instance, you know we
- 5:04have thing in our neighborhood where we have a family that's
- 5:06splitting up. We have a family that's having
- 5:09this big issue, and they're basically breaking up, and their
- 5:13animals are being split up there.
- 5:17They were left behind. And myself, along with the two
- 5:21other neighbors, we're just taking it on.
- 5:24I have all the chickens. Well, the chickens started
- 5:26moving in one at a time, and now all of the chickens are here.
- 5:29Some of them will sleep here and some of them won't.
- 5:32And one of my other neighbors said to me, well, are you
- 5:34annoyed that they're just here all the time?
- 5:35And I said, no, I'm not annoyed. You know, I think we're here to
- 5:38help each other. I wouldn't want my family
- 5:40splitting up and being going through all of this.
- 5:43You know, terrible stuff that they're having.
- 5:45And these chickens have chosen us and they trade me eggs and I
- 5:49give them food and shelter if they want it.
- 5:51Some of them sleep inside and some of them sleep in trees.
- 5:54I can't do anything about that. They're strange little Bantam
- 5:57hens and my my hands are not. But point of the story is I'm
- 6:02here to help out. So I want you to think about
- 6:05that. Are we here to help or are we
- 6:06here to just help ourselves? And, you know, the bottom line
- 6:10is it's a little bit of both. Yes, you have to participate in
- 6:12your own rescue. But we are here to help each
- 6:15other. And when we do that, we always
- 6:17feel better. So the answer, the tricky answer
- 6:21is, yeah, participate in your own rescue.
- 6:24But yeah, help somebody out. It's the right thing to do.
- 6:28All right, my friends, I hope you have a blessed day and I'll
- 6:30see you tomorrow. Bye.
