- 0:00Speaker 1: Oh for crying out loud. Just stop. It's one more thing.
- 0:04Speaker 2: I'm strong, But we haven't started a special.
- 0:11Speaker 3: A special Michelangelo hosted one More Thing podcast. But before
- 0:15Speaker 3: we get to that, we have lost one of the
- 0:18Speaker 3: great voice actors in cartoon history.
- 0:22Speaker 2: Morning John Redcorn.
- 0:23Speaker 3: Oh, Peggy, just dropping off a new healing orb for
- 0:27Speaker 3: Nancy to help with their migraines.
- 0:29Speaker 2: Kinko Biloba. Oh yeah, uh sure, I've heard of that.
- 0:42Speaker 3: Kidnap his jeep. So, the actor who played John Redcorn
- 0:47Speaker 3: in King of the Hill has died. He was shot
- 0:51Speaker 3: to death by his neighbor, which is a horrible story.
- 0:55Speaker 3: I've gotten some sort of disagreement in his neighbor shot him,
- 0:57Speaker 3: but I just thought it was a good excuse to
- 0:58Speaker 3: play anything from King of the One more John Redcorn clip.
- 1:02Speaker 1: Thank god you're here, John Redcorn. Nancy won't come out
- 1:06Speaker 1: of the bug of Bago.
- 1:10Speaker 2: Oh boy, Nancy has a headache and requires treatment. I
- 1:15Speaker 2: will need about an hour and a bottle of USTe spumanti.
- 1:20Speaker 1: I'll get it.
- 1:21Speaker 3: Oh my god, King of the Hill. So my son
- 1:24Speaker 3: is on a King of the hillkick and anytime I
- 1:28Speaker 3: log any time with it, like I'm walking through the
- 1:29Speaker 3: living room and watch part of an episode with him.
- 1:31Speaker 3: That show is so freaking funny.
- 1:34Speaker 2: Oh yeah, it really is.
- 1:36Speaker 3: The idea that Dale and his wife have one child
- 1:41Speaker 3: who is an Indian looking kid and looks just like
- 1:43Speaker 3: John Redcorn who comes and helps his wife with their
- 1:47Speaker 3: migraines is too much.
- 1:49Speaker 2: All hours of the day and night. Oh that is.
- 1:51Speaker 3: Rough anyway, Rest in peace, the voice of John Redcorn
- 1:55Speaker 3: Back to you, Michael.
- 1:57Speaker 1: All right, So I went to a high school graduation
- 1:59Speaker 1: on this past week.
- 2:01Speaker 3: Fantastic. So it was one.
- 2:02Speaker 1: Hundred degree weather. I'm sitting on metal bleachers, which is
- 2:05Speaker 1: hard to do when you're your fifties.
- 2:07Speaker 3: Was it outside? It was outside the hundred and two degree.
- 2:10Speaker 1: Weather in direct sunlight.
- 2:12Speaker 2: Oh boy.
- 2:14Speaker 1: The great people watching is like a state fair crowd
- 2:16Speaker 1: because you see everybody's families, and you know, everyone's family
- 2:19Speaker 1: is goofy and so a lot of extended family there.
- 2:21Speaker 1: So the stadium is just packed. But you were talking
- 2:24Speaker 1: about earlier in the show.
- 2:26Speaker 3: About was everybody wearing a hat and trying to.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Stay live hat and not. You know, a lot of
- 2:31Speaker 1: skimpy dresses and some people shouldn't be wearing this stuff
- 2:34Speaker 1: because there's a hundred degrees and they're just you know,
- 2:36Speaker 1: letting it all hang out.
- 2:38Speaker 2: Judging mcjudgerson. Well, body sham. I get a graduation anyway.
- 2:43Speaker 1: But they had a school band that has to play
- 2:45Speaker 1: all the music. Like you had mentioned, you get ready,
- 2:48Speaker 1: this was the worst high school band I've ever know.
- 2:51Speaker 1: It was so bad that people in the crowd were
- 2:55Speaker 1: either cringing or laughing. One person yelled, just play the radio.
- 3:01Speaker 2: Which.
- 3:05Speaker 3: What was the band playing? Pumpings? Yes, but they couldn't
- 3:10Speaker 3: play it at all.
- 3:10Speaker 1: It was literally like our show open on Monday mornings.
- 3:14Speaker 1: That band. Yeah, it literally sounded the same.
- 3:18Speaker 2: Wow.
- 3:18Speaker 3: Well that's that's because I've played that as Joe has.
- 3:21Speaker 3: It's not a difficult song.
- 3:23Speaker 1: But I guess it's people that were there because they
- 3:26Speaker 1: have high school football games. They said, we have the
- 3:29Speaker 1: worst band in the like in the city. It has
- 3:31Speaker 1: been like this all year long. I guess they have
- 3:34Speaker 1: not gotten any better at all.
- 3:35Speaker 3: It's horrible.
- 3:37Speaker 2: That's on the teacher.
- 3:39Speaker 3: Yeah, it's on the band, teacher.
- 3:41Speaker 2: And you got to practice at home.
- 3:42Speaker 3: Kids.
- 3:42Speaker 4: Come on, I tell you that every day and nobody does.
- 3:45Speaker 4: So to hell with you. I'm going to my office
- 3:47Speaker 4: to drink I.
- 3:47Speaker 3: Remember when we did it in a high school band,
- 3:50Speaker 3: because you play for like a half an hour. To
- 3:51Speaker 3: give everybody a rest, we'd like break into groups, so
- 3:54Speaker 3: like you didn't have to play for this segment. Well,
- 3:57Speaker 3: these guys played and then they would take a rest
- 3:59Speaker 3: and you'd play because you couldn't just play NonStop with
- 4:02Speaker 3: if you used your lips for your instrument, like we
- 4:04Speaker 3: trumpet players, did you get too tired. But they just
- 4:09Speaker 3: just couldn't play.
- 4:11Speaker 1: Or they could not play were they just people would
- 4:14Speaker 1: be off key, or it didn't matter. It just sounded terrible.
- 4:18Speaker 3: That's awful.
- 4:19Speaker 2: That'd be amusing.
- 4:21Speaker 3: I hate to hear that. The poor kids out there
- 4:23Speaker 3: drying sitting in the heat. Maybe the heat it's hard
- 4:26Speaker 3: to stay in tune when it's that hot.
- 4:27Speaker 1: Now, I guess they're really just bad, you know. I
- 4:31Speaker 1: had several people say, yeah, I've been at all the
- 4:33Speaker 1: football games. Our football team is great, our band is awful.
- 4:37Speaker 1: So I've just never seen, you know, a band not
- 4:40Speaker 1: get any better from the start of school to graduate.
- 4:43Speaker 3: I remember when our band was worse, the marching band,
- 4:46Speaker 3: because we would play outside, not in the heat, but
- 4:48Speaker 3: the freezing cold, and sometimes a football game it might
- 4:52Speaker 3: be fifteen blow zero with the windshill, and you had
- 4:55Speaker 3: to carry your mouthpiece like in your pocket or keep
- 4:57Speaker 3: it in your hand to have it warm enough. And
- 4:59Speaker 3: then it's time to play, you'd quick put it on
- 5:00Speaker 3: your horn. But and like the wind blowing and it's
- 5:04Speaker 3: so cold, and you could tell the sound wasn't going
- 5:06Speaker 3: more than like six inches out of your horn before
- 5:08Speaker 3: it stops, so nobody could probably hear you anyway.
- 5:11Speaker 4: Well right, yeah, the wind would be blowing in the
- 5:13Speaker 4: wrong direction away from those stands and they could barely
- 5:15Speaker 4: hear that you were playing.
- 5:17Speaker 2: Oh yeah, man, that was tough duty. Yeah.
- 5:20Speaker 1: So my nephew was graduating and he graduated with honors
- 5:22Speaker 1: and it was you know, everybody's really excited. We had
- 5:25Speaker 1: our whole family there. But we got these special horns
- 5:28Speaker 1: that I guess are extra loud. I didn't realize how
- 5:30Speaker 1: loud they were. And we had cowbells and so they
- 5:32Speaker 1: call his name and it was like a train had
- 5:36Speaker 1: just you know, was coming at you and it scared
- 5:38Speaker 1: the rest of the crowd that was next.
- 5:40Speaker 2: It was so loud like air horns.
- 5:42Speaker 3: Oh yeah, So did lots of people do this or
- 5:44Speaker 3: were you the only ones.
- 5:45Speaker 1: No, quite a few people.
- 5:45Speaker 3: That's a thing. Oh yeah, Well, like when I graduated
- 5:49Speaker 3: high school, maybe none of the parents liked their kids,
- 5:51Speaker 3: but we all just everybody just sat there quietly.
- 5:55Speaker 4: Yeah, in fact, there was no they told you no
- 5:57Speaker 4: applause until all the graduates.
- 6:00Speaker 2: It's across the stage. There's much more decorum.
- 6:02Speaker 1: And oh no, people are popping things now, loud poppers.
- 6:06Speaker 3: So how big a crowd you can gather to celebrate you? Yes,
- 6:10Speaker 3: your popularity contest right up to the end. Yeah right, exactly,
- 6:15Speaker 3: might as well take that hole. Who's popular, who's not?
- 6:18Speaker 3: Clear to the last moment of high school life. Oh,
- 6:22Speaker 3: you've got a big family with who's willing to spend
- 6:24Speaker 3: the money on the horns? And I don't great, Well
- 6:27Speaker 3: miss you all, you bastards.
- 6:28Speaker 1: My family had cow bell. How'd you do?
- 6:31Speaker 2: Yeah exactly, Yeah, I.
- 6:35Speaker 4: Hate that, I really do you noise. You've got a
- 6:38Speaker 4: big family and they all came great. You know what
- 6:42Speaker 4: I know Jenny, her pa is like two point one
- 6:45Speaker 4: and she's a bit of a slut.
- 6:46Speaker 1: So.
- 6:48Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, who's clipping.
- 6:56Speaker 3: I like what you said, Katie. Popularity contest right up
- 6:59Speaker 3: to the final moment of being a high schooler. Yes,
- 7:02Speaker 3: let's just finish it off with yet one more who's
- 7:05Speaker 3: ranked where in the populace?
- 7:07Speaker 4: Actually, let's have a final look at status before we
- 7:10Speaker 4: all go on to our future.
- 7:12Speaker 3: Lives and which at which time, By the way, all
- 7:15Speaker 3: that status will change dramatically for the rest now right.
- 7:22Speaker 1: It's funny though, when the kids got their names yelled,
- 7:25Speaker 1: you know, when they were announced to walk down the stage,
- 7:28Speaker 1: they were either really embarrassed or you know, laughing, having
- 7:31Speaker 1: a good time. But some of them, you know, they
- 7:33Speaker 1: the crowd would share form and they were just horrified.
- 7:35Speaker 1: You could just tell they did.
- 7:36Speaker 3: That's become a thing, and it may have been the
- 7:38Speaker 3: thing for the last thirty years, because I graduated a
- 7:40Speaker 3: long time ago. But we were a couple of things
- 7:43Speaker 3: over the weekend. We came across where there were big
- 7:46Speaker 3: parties going on, and I was explaining to my son
- 7:48Speaker 3: about how some people are just throw a party people
- 7:52Speaker 3: and some people aren't. I mean, I said, you come
- 7:54Speaker 3: from a long line if we don't really have parties
- 7:56Speaker 3: for this sort of thing, like maybe with the immediately
- 7:58Speaker 3: fam meta family, but like there was this room that
- 8:02Speaker 3: gets rented out near where I live. They'd rented out
- 8:04Speaker 3: a room and there must have been fifty people there
- 8:07Speaker 3: from some seventh grade girl who's becoming an eighth grader
- 8:10Speaker 3: or whatever, and they threw a giant party because some
- 8:13Speaker 3: people just like any reason for celebration. It's like a
- 8:15Speaker 3: gender reveal. My wife and I, you know, we looked
- 8:18Speaker 3: at the paper ourselves and we went to eat, and
- 8:20Speaker 3: you know how we're having a boy. But some people
- 8:23Speaker 3: decide to have a party and invite fifty people, which
- 8:25Speaker 3: is fine, not against it. It's just you're either that
- 8:27Speaker 3: kind of person or you're not that you have a
- 8:30Speaker 3: giant bringing everybody in for everything you do. Because like
- 8:34Speaker 3: I said to my son, you know, all the other
- 8:36Speaker 3: seventh grade girls are moving on to eighth grade two
- 8:38Speaker 3: they're probably not having parties, but this girl is for whatever.
- 8:42Speaker 4: reON you know, it's funny, you should bring that up.
- 8:44Speaker 4: I was daydreaming over the weekend. I attended a social function,
- 8:48Speaker 4: which was fine, it was good, but I can only,
- 8:52Speaker 4: you know, hang for a certain amount of time as
- 8:55Speaker 4: an introvert, and I was thinking I should ask chat
- 8:58Speaker 4: GPT to help me design an organization for introverts and
- 9:05Speaker 4: how we would have meetings, how to finesse that I'm
- 9:10Speaker 4: thinking it would have to do with quite small groups
- 9:15Speaker 4: for one thing. I mean you might have like the
- 9:17Speaker 4: initial quick meetup, but then you'd go into small groups
- 9:21Speaker 4: that you can deal with because loud, clamoring, yelling, everybody
- 9:26Speaker 4: shouting small talk at each other stuff. Oh god, what,
- 9:31Speaker 4: I'm sorry, I murdered that guy?
- 9:33Speaker 2: Just execute me? What should just make this stop?
- 9:37Speaker 4: There's there's got to be a way to get because
- 9:41Speaker 4: even introverts need human contact. That's just that most human
- 9:46Speaker 4: contact is administered.
- 9:48Speaker 2: It's run by.
- 9:49Speaker 3: Extroverts, right, and they think the more the merrier.
- 9:53Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm gonna work on this project. This could be
- 9:55Speaker 4: my zillion dollar idea because I would become kind of
- 9:58Speaker 4: the guru of it, and I would like the my
- 10:00Speaker 4: name would be.
- 10:00Speaker 2: Attached to it.
- 10:01Speaker 4: And yeah, it'd be like the abundance thing or what
- 10:04Speaker 4: else has been a hot trend lately, I don't know.
- 10:07Speaker 3: So like if you get if you get pregnanicaated b
- 10:09Speaker 3: red girl summer, I would be this summer's bread girl. Wow,
- 10:14Speaker 3: you become pregnicatd well, you have a big gender reveal
- 10:16Speaker 3: party with lots of people. Like I'm not disparaging and
- 10:18Speaker 3: it's just you're either that kind of person or you're not. No,
- 10:21Speaker 3: I will not, I will not.
- 10:23Speaker 4: I I don't know because I actually I just went
- 10:26Speaker 4: to one recently, and then like three weeks later it
- 10:28Speaker 4: was the bridal shower or not bridle shower, baby shower.
- 10:32Speaker 3: So it was like one thing after the next.
- 10:34Speaker 2: No, I'm good, we'll we'll do it privately. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 10:36Speaker 3: People I've known we're into that thing. There's always some reason.
- 10:40Speaker 3: So you can have one like practically once a month
- 10:44Speaker 3: if you like it.
- 10:45Speaker 1: Well, I guess that's it.
