- 0:02SPEAKER_00: Hello, everyone.
- 0:04SPEAKER_00: Welcome back to another episode of Truth Be Told.
- 0:06SPEAKER_00: I am Mickey, your host, and joining me today is Bethany, my co-host.
- 0:10SPEAKER_00: And we are going to come to you with the word of God bringing you the truth.
- 0:14SPEAKER_00: And we are going to dive back in to where we left off in the series that we've been in on the fruits of the spirit.
- 0:20SPEAKER_00: And um super excited about this because it's been really, really, really good.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: And I feel like sometimes the enemy is like trying to keep us from finishing on finishing this because he knows what's about to happen.
- 0:33SPEAKER_00: So we have a lot of great scripture to go over.
- 0:36SPEAKER_00: So, Bethany, welcome in and have you come on and say hello and maybe give us a recap of where we left off.
- 0:42SPEAKER_01: Yes, wonderful to be here.
- 0:45SPEAKER_01: Um, and so we've been talking about the fruits of the spirit, and we've covered five of them.
- 0:57SPEAKER_01: We've covered love, joy, peace, long suffering, and gentleness.
- 1:05SPEAKER_01: So today we are going to be talking about the next two, which is goodness and faith.
- 1:16SPEAKER_01: And one thing I think is wise for us to remember is that there's no order to these, they're all have the same value, they all have the same importance, and so and the Bible is full of verses that talk about these fruits, and that's why it's so important for us to be in the word, not just reading, you know, our daily scripture reading for the day, to check off, say, oh, I got that done, so but to mature as a Christian, I believe it's very important for us to study the Word of God.
- 2:27SPEAKER_01: And so as we go to these roots of the Spirit, as I said, we're today going to be discussing goodness and faith, and just those two alone have so much that we can learn from.
- 2:50SPEAKER_01: And so, Mickey, do you have anything else?
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: Um, nope, I'm I'm excited to to um get into the fruits of the spirit because, like you said, there is no order to them, and um I think they all bring such an important part of what is kind of helpful for us to learn um as we're talking about the fruits of the spirit and what we need to be doing and how we need to be living and acting in order to produce good fruit.
- 3:24SPEAKER_00: And we want to produce good fruit, we don't want to produce bad fruit.
- 3:27SPEAKER_00: And so these um scriptures that we're gonna be sharing today are gonna teach us how to produce the fruit that God wants us to produce.
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: So I'm excited about that.
- 3:37SPEAKER_00: So I'm ready to dive in if you are.
- 3:41SPEAKER_01: Yes, yes.
- 3:45SPEAKER_01: Um, before we dive into them, let's go ahead and pray.
- 3:54SPEAKER_01: Dear Lord, I thank you once again for this time you've given us.
- 4:02SPEAKER_01: This time where we invite you, we want you to show us what you want the listeners to take away from this time.
- 4:22SPEAKER_01: And so we thank you for what you will do during this time as we talk about goodness and faith, how they can help us, strengthen us, empower us, and we'll thank you for it in Jesus' name.
- 4:44SPEAKER_01: Amen.
- 4:45SPEAKER_00: Amen.
- 4:46SPEAKER_00: Absolutely.
- 4:47SPEAKER_00: I know that when we touched on um the first five spirits, that Holy Spirit showed up mightily, and we had really great episodes in that, and I'm really looking forward to what Holy Spirit's gonna bring today in regards to the these fruits of the spirit.
- 5:04SPEAKER_00: Um, so um, where are we gonna be starting at today?
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: With um, we're going into goodness.
- 5:09SPEAKER_00: That's the next okay, and what scripture are we starting with today?
- 5:14SPEAKER_01: All right, we are starting with Romans chapter three, and the book of Romans has so much in it that I would encourage all of us to take time to study Romans chapter three and just see how the Lord impresses upon you individually what you can learn and take away from it.
- 5:54SPEAKER_01: And so Romans chapter three and verse number twelve says they are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable.
- 6:21SPEAKER_01: There is none that doeth good, no, not one, and you might be wondering, well, why start with that verse when talking about goodness?
- 6:39SPEAKER_01: Because it seems to put goodness in a bad light, but it's referring to the goodness that we have of ourselves and the goodness we have of ourselves, just like this verse says, is unprofitable.
- 7:12SPEAKER_01: It doesn't amount to anything, and so how do we get the goodness that does amount to being profitable?
- 7:30SPEAKER_01: Well, go to Romans chapter two and verse four.
- 7:40SPEAKER_01: Romans chapter two, verse four.
- 7:46SPEAKER_01: Matt says, Oh despite it despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and non-suffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance.
- 8:11SPEAKER_01: So that verse there is showing us that goodness, it's the goodness of God that is profitable, it's the goodness of God that leads us to repentance, and that should be so encouraging to us, I believe, to understand that even though our goodness in and of ourselves isn't profitable, it's God's goodness that is.
- 8:58SPEAKER_01: And Mikey, how do you how do you see these two verses?
- 9:08SPEAKER_00: Well, I think that we we sometimes think that we you know we do good things so that that we because we do good things, we deserve the goodness of God, but actually we don't get the goodness of God through good works.
- 9:23SPEAKER_00: You know, it's it's through our repentance that we get the goodness of God, um, for recognizing that um we would not be good if it wasn't for God.
- 9:35SPEAKER_00: So um if we didn't have God's goodness, we wouldn't be able to um basically have all of the goodness and the abundance and stuff that God wants us to have.
- 9:49SPEAKER_00: I think that we need to um I think people get comfortable in doing good things thinking that, well, if I if I do do all of these things and I'm I'm the best at it, or I'm oh oh I did this, so I did a good deed, that's what that's what God's want.
- 10:07SPEAKER_00: That's not what God wants.
- 10:08SPEAKER_00: We need to understand there's a difference in in works and the intent of the heart.
- 10:14SPEAKER_00: So if we're doing it because we're trying to, like, oh, I'm gonna impress God and He's gonna, you know, He's gonna give me favor, if we're doing it like that, that's not of the goodness of God.
- 10:24SPEAKER_00: The goodness of God is the goodness that God gives us and that abundance of goodness that He gives us.
- 10:31SPEAKER_00: So that's why there is the long suffering.
- 10:34SPEAKER_00: If we are going through the long suffering and the way that we're reacting and behaving, um God will lead us to the goodness, and he'll also lead us to that repentance, is what I believe.
- 10:46SPEAKER_00: If that makes sense.
- 10:49SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 10:51SPEAKER_01: Yes, it's it's God's goodness.
- 10:57SPEAKER_01: Yes, that is there one of the fruits of the spirit and doing good works is comes after we become Christians.
- 11:21SPEAKER_01: It's not good words are not done to become a Christian.
- 11:28SPEAKER_01: Good words are done after to show others what being a Christian is all about.
- 11:44SPEAKER_01: Part of it at least.
- 11:46SPEAKER_01: And so that the fruit of goodness that's wonderful, powerful.
- 11:59SPEAKER_01: Um and so now we come to the fruit of faith.
- 12:08SPEAKER_01: The fruit of faith.
- 12:15SPEAKER_01: I'm not sure if you saw that I added one more verse to um my list for faith.
- 12:25SPEAKER_01: Um but the Lord has been impressing upon me that verse, and so but I want to start out with talking about faith.
- 12:43SPEAKER_01: No it's it's interesting to me how that some people they have they seem to have all this faith to become a Christian.
- 13:09SPEAKER_01: They're excited, they're um enthusiastic about becoming a Christian, and then something happens, and they seem to lose faith.
- 13:31SPEAKER_01: And I don't know, I don't know why that is.
- 13:39SPEAKER_00: Um I think I can actually answer that question a little bit.
- 13:43SPEAKER_00: I think that because we know the story of Peter and Jesus and Peter walking on the water, and we know that faith and fear, you cannot operate in both of them at the same time.
- 13:56SPEAKER_00: You can either operate in faith or you can operate in fear.
- 13:59SPEAKER_00: So when something happens, it brings the question of fear upon us instead of keeping us focused on the faith.
- 14:07SPEAKER_00: And I think that, you know, because we have those trials and tribulations that come our way, and we're not sure, you know, what God's plan is or what his purpose is, or God, what are you doing here?
- 14:17SPEAKER_00: What it what what what are you trying to work out in me?
- 14:21SPEAKER_00: Um, I think we forget the faith part and we start questioning the God part of what God's actually doing, because um we think that God should be doing something different, you know, or it's not working out the way we think it should work out, but we need to also just keep in mind that God is gonna work out all things for our good.
- 14:45SPEAKER_00: He doesn't have any ill plans for us.
- 14:48SPEAKER_00: The enemy may, but God does not.
- 14:51SPEAKER_00: His plan is for us to prosper and you know, and and like Jeremiah 29, 11, to give us a hope for our future.
- 14:59SPEAKER_00: So we have to literally keep ourselves in the mindset of faith to where we're not shifting gears all the time.
- 15:09SPEAKER_00: And and and and you know, like I don't know, I don't know if you've ever driven a driven a car that was a stick shift.
- 15:15SPEAKER_00: Have you driven a stick shift before?
- 15:17SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 15:19SPEAKER_00: Well, so those of you, okay, I'm dating myself now, because I used to love to drive a stick shift, but um, when you're going in from one gear to the next, gear to the next gear, you're you're doing the operating.
- 15:28SPEAKER_00: You're doing the operating.
- 15:30SPEAKER_00: Well, sometimes God wants us to allow him to do the operating.
- 15:32SPEAKER_00: When you go to an automatic, the car automatically shifts for you.
- 15:36SPEAKER_00: But sometimes we're stuck with that gear shifter and we think we're gonna be the ones to make the decision what gear we want to be in.
- 15:42SPEAKER_00: And when it doesn't work out the way we want, we start losing faith because we think that I don't know, but I'm just talking about for myself.
- 15:49SPEAKER_00: I think sometimes that's I think that God either one um um um I'm not trusting him enough to allow me to take the will for myself, but we know that that's never gonna be a good thing, you know, when we step out on our own accord, um, and we can because God gave us the ability and the free will to do that.
- 16:11SPEAKER_00: And the enemy also gets his little twists and ties in there as well.
- 16:15SPEAKER_00: We step out away from faith because we think, well, um I, you know, I must not have enough faith.
- 16:22SPEAKER_00: God must not um, you know, care enough.
- 16:25SPEAKER_00: It's the opposite of that.
- 16:26SPEAKER_00: It's literally the opposite.
- 16:28SPEAKER_00: He cares more than we can imagine.
- 16:31SPEAKER_00: We're just thinking the opposite.
- 16:32SPEAKER_00: It's us that us that walk away from the faith and and not God leading us from that, if that makes sense.
- 16:39SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 16:41SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that that kind of I didn't mean to interrupt you, but I just wanted to explain that because Peter walked, Peter had every he when Peter stepped out of the boat onto the water, he had 100% faith in Jesus to protect him, did he not?
- 16:55SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 16:55SPEAKER_00: Because Peter knew it was over his head.
- 16:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah, winds were blowing, and the minute fear came upon him, he didn't stop having faith in who Jesus was.
- 17:06SPEAKER_00: He allowed the fear to take the place of the faith, and he started to sink.
- 17:11SPEAKER_00: And that's what happened, because you cannot operate in both.
- 17:14SPEAKER_00: And Jesus was like, you know, and he would call out to Jesus, like, Jesus, what is going on?
- 17:20SPEAKER_00: And he said, Oh, yeah of little faith.
- 17:23SPEAKER_00: And because he he he allowed fear to consume him more than he allowed his faith to consume him.
- 17:29SPEAKER_00: So we've got to be really careful, and I think that's why we we lack in that area, because of the we operate more in fear than in faith.
- 17:37SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 17:38SPEAKER_00: So go ahead, Ed, go ahead with what you were gonna say.
- 17:42SPEAKER_01: Yes, that's so true, so powerful to remember.
- 17:50SPEAKER_01: And so looking again at Romans three, now looking at verse twenty-eight, which says, therefore, we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law, and that is correct, that is true, that is how it is, and it's interesting to me, you know, even some Christians they maybe they think that they still have to do works, or even some non-Christians thinking that, oh well, I have to do more good works, or I have to be obedient to the law, or something like that.
- 19:11SPEAKER_01: But verse 28 says we're justified by faith without the deeds of the law, and so it's not that the deeds of the law aren't important, it's not that they have no relevance, it's just that for eternal salvation and for faith being justified by faith without the deeds of the law, and so that is one verse I think that's important for us to remember, because like I say, it seems that there's a lot of people who are wondering, okay, what is it based on the law or is it based on faith, or but Romans 3 28 is proof that it's based on faith.
- 20:33SPEAKER_01: So now let's look at one example during Jesus' ministry here on earth in Mark chapter ten, one of the miracles that Jesus did was healing a man, and let's look at that um passage.
- 21:05SPEAKER_01: And um Mickey, would you be willing to read Mark 10 verses 46 through 52?
- 21:22SPEAKER_02: Sure.
- 21:24SPEAKER_00: I would appreciate that.
- 21:27SPEAKER_00: Yep, okay.
- 21:28SPEAKER_00: So Mark 10, 46 through 52.
- 21:33SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 21:33SPEAKER_00: Says, and they came to Jericho, and he went out went out of Jericho with his disciples, and a great number of people.
- 21:41SPEAKER_00: Blind Barnabas, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging.
- 21:46SPEAKER_00: And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me.
- 21:56SPEAKER_00: And many charged him that He should hold his peace.
- 22:02SPEAKER_00: But he cried the more a great deal, Thou son of David, have mercy on me.
- 22:08SPEAKER_00: And Jesus stood still and commanded him to be called.
- 22:12SPEAKER_00: And they called the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise, and he calleth thee.
- 22:20SPEAKER_00: And he, casting away his garment, rose and came to Jesus.
- 22:24SPEAKER_00: And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee?
- 22:32SPEAKER_00: The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight.
- 22:37SPEAKER_00: And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way, thy faith hath made thee whole.
- 22:43SPEAKER_00: And immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus in that way, or in the way.
- 22:55SPEAKER_01: Wow.
- 22:58SPEAKER_01: What a experience.
- 23:04SPEAKER_01: What a miracle that was that is one miracle I wish I could have seen physically because that the power in that.
- 24:25SPEAKER_01: So that tells me that when Jesus desires to He can transform lives.
- 25:30SPEAKER_01: Trust Him more.
- 25:35SPEAKER_01: And so it's interesting to me that Jesus said.
- 25:59SPEAKER_01: In verse fifty two, Jesus responds to Bertameus.
- 26:09SPEAKER_01: Go thy way.
- 26:40SPEAKER_01: How many of us would hear what Jesus says?
- 26:47SPEAKER_01: If he would say to us, like he said to Barmaeus, go thy way, thy faith hath made thee whole.
- 26:58SPEAKER_01: How many of us would say, well, but Jesus, I don't I need to do something first?
- 27:07SPEAKER_01: Um don't what do I need to do?
- 27:12SPEAKER_01: Or but no, it was it was all of Jesus.
- 27:19SPEAKER_01: It was on him.
- 27:23SPEAKER_01: And so faith.
- 27:30SPEAKER_01: Do we fully understand that it's not necessarily about us, but it's about God and what his will is for our lives, and we need to trust him, we need to rest in him.
- 28:02SPEAKER_01: And so after um Mickey says anything that she wants to say about this, I will come back with one final verse for us to consider.
- 28:20SPEAKER_01: And so, Mickey, do you have any thoughts on this passage?
- 28:27SPEAKER_00: Well, actually, there's a there's a lot to this passage.
- 28:31SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 28:32SPEAKER_00: But um, I mean we could do a complete episode, but one thing I wanted to point out is Jesus heard him calling out, and they told they were telling him to be quiet.
- 28:44SPEAKER_00: Hey, be quiet.
- 28:45SPEAKER_00: And he c he he he called out even louder because he wanted when he found out it was Jesus, he wanted Jesus to know that he wanted to talk to him.
- 28:53SPEAKER_00: Um, he wanted to, you know, he believed that if Jesus he could just talk to Jesus, he would be healed.
- 28:59SPEAKER_00: And Jesus told him to come to him, and Jesus asked him, Jesus already knew what the man needed, but he still had uh Bartimaeus ask him, What is it that you want?
- 29:11SPEAKER_00: What is it that you want from me?
- 29:14SPEAKER_00: Jesus already knew he was blind.
- 29:18SPEAKER_00: Um and that's why I believe one of the reasons I believe that when he asked him the question, what is it that you want from me?
- 29:31SPEAKER_00: He said, You know, I just want to receive my side so I can see.
- 29:36SPEAKER_00: Um, but he believed already that Jesus could save him.
- 29:40SPEAKER_00: There was no doubt in his mind that Jesus couldn't save him.
- 29:44SPEAKER_00: And so Jesus, you know, see saves him, and he doesn't wait, doesn't go, well, let me just rub some, you know, salve on your eyes and give you a week and let me know, let me check back with you like the doctor does.
- 29:56SPEAKER_00: You know, it was immediate.
- 29:58SPEAKER_00: It was immediate sight.
- 30:01SPEAKER_00: And um then he gets up and he's told just to, you know, just follow in the way of Jesus.
- 30:09SPEAKER_00: And I love what you said about the fact that he didn't give him, like, he didn't tell him to that there's an expectation or something that he give back in return.
- 30:18SPEAKER_00: Like, okay, I just gave you your sight back, now I'm gonna charge you, or I'm gonna do this, or I'm gonna do that.
- 30:22SPEAKER_00: Jesus didn't do any of that.
- 30:24SPEAKER_00: It was a gift.
- 30:24SPEAKER_00: He gifted him his sight back.
- 30:27SPEAKER_00: He didn't require anything back.
- 30:30SPEAKER_00: But he knew that the man, the minute he heard him calling out, had so much faith in Jesus that he that Jesus knew he was gonna perform the miracle, but he did want him to say what it was that he wanted.
- 30:44SPEAKER_00: He wasn't just gonna go perform the miracle, he wanted it to be known, and the guy actually came out and asked, and Bartimaeus came out and said, Hey, this is what I want, this is what I want.
- 30:55SPEAKER_00: Um, and then God granted him that because of his faith.
- 31:00SPEAKER_00: And so he used Jesus also used Bartimaeus as an example during that um um that miracle in saying that if we we call on Jesus, Jesus already knows everything that we need, every single thing right now.
- 31:20SPEAKER_00: He knows all of our needs right now.
- 31:23SPEAKER_00: But Jesus doesn't have to give us any of those miracles.
- 31:28SPEAKER_00: He wants us to have enough faith in him to perform the miracle, and he wants us to ask him to perform the miracle.
- 31:36SPEAKER_00: When you ask somebody to do something for you, it's because you trust them enough to be able to do it.
- 31:42SPEAKER_00: And I believe that's why he asked him, What is it that you want?
- 31:46SPEAKER_00: Jesus already knew.
- 31:48SPEAKER_00: But I think he really asked that question for that reason.
- 31:52SPEAKER_00: And we usually, again, like I said, when we ask somebody for something, it's because we trust that they have the capabilities of doing something that we we need.
- 32:03SPEAKER_00: And Jesus knew that he had the faith, and so Jesus made him whole.
- 32:08SPEAKER_00: But he did use Bartimaeus as an example, showing in this illustration that he's not just going to go around healing everybody.
- 32:16SPEAKER_00: You know, he could go and heal the whole entire land if he wanted to.
- 32:20SPEAKER_00: He wants us to have faith in him, and he wants us to trust, and he wants us to ask him in the faith that we should have in Jesus to be able to fulfill the miracles that we're asking of him.
- 32:37SPEAKER_00: So I think there's a lot, there's a lot to this whole phrase, but we're talking about you know faith being the fruit of the spirit, that it's so simple, and yet we miss the boat.
- 32:48SPEAKER_00: I think we miss the boat a lot.
- 32:50SPEAKER_00: We second guess and we think, oh, Jesus isn't gonna do this for me.
- 32:54SPEAKER_00: He'll do it for Bartimaeus, but not for me.
- 32:56SPEAKER_00: Why wouldn't he do it for you?
- 32:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah, go on.
- 32:59SPEAKER_00: He could do it for anybody.
- 33:02SPEAKER_00: But he wants to know how strong your faith really is.
- 33:04SPEAKER_00: That man called out, and then he called out louder when he was told to be quiet.
- 33:09SPEAKER_00: He was hushed, and and they they just said, Shh, be quiet, you know.
- 33:13SPEAKER_00: And he was like, No, I'm gonna, I want to talk to Jesus, you know, because he knew, like the lady that touched the hem of his garment.
- 33:20SPEAKER_00: Same faith.
- 33:21SPEAKER_00: That's the same kind of faith that we should be operating in.
- 33:24SPEAKER_00: And we when we operate in that kind of faith and that fruit of the spirit, what what produces from that is amazing.
- 33:34SPEAKER_00: That in itself is a miracle.
- 33:38SPEAKER_00: So it's important that we really meditate on that and we think about it and we walk in it.
- 33:46SPEAKER_00: He says, He says, immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus in the way.
- 33:52SPEAKER_00: And he says, Go thy way, thy faith had me had made you whole.
- 33:56SPEAKER_00: He didn't say you have to go my way, he said to go thy way.
- 34:01SPEAKER_00: So he gave him the choice to choose who he wanted to follow after.
- 34:06SPEAKER_00: You know, he didn't even have to follow Jesus after he performed the miracle.
- 34:09SPEAKER_00: He did, it wasn't a requirement of him.
- 34:11SPEAKER_00: There was no requirement.
- 34:13SPEAKER_00: And I love that that because Jesus doesn't put that pressure on us, we put that pressure on ourselves to do those things.
- 34:21SPEAKER_00: So I hope that I hope that that kind of makes a little bit of sense um in referring to the fruit of the spirit, that we need to be walking in that faith in order for us to be producing that that good fruit.
- 34:34SPEAKER_00: You know, this is a a great miracle.
- 34:37SPEAKER_00: Jesus produced amazing fruit with Bartimaeus.
- 34:40SPEAKER_00: So, I mean, if we want good fruit, if we want the healing of Jesus, we have to have the faith of Jesus that he can heal us.
- 34:47SPEAKER_00: So it's important.
- 34:48SPEAKER_00: And if we walk in that, people are gonna see God healing us.
- 34:52SPEAKER_00: That's gonna produce good fruit.
- 34:55SPEAKER_00: That's where the production starts, right there.
- 34:58SPEAKER_00: So I think there's a lot to it, but I think that's a great, this is a great um verse to look at when it comes to um having faith.
- 35:07SPEAKER_00: I think you nailed it.
- 35:11SPEAKER_01: Yes, and um, you know, like we say, there's so much in this passage that um we will get back to in other episodes, and so there's one final verse that I want to um share, and it's a verse that probably most of you know um maybe can even quote it, and yet quoting verses is nice, it's hopeful in that, but living out the verses is so much adds so much to it, and so that verse is Hebrews eleven verses, and that verse says, But without faith it is impossible to please him, for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
- 37:08SPEAKER_01: There's a lot in this verse that um I won't be taking time on in this episode, but in the future I will.
- 37:24SPEAKER_01: But it it's curious to me.
- 37:30SPEAKER_01: The first part of the verse.
- 37:33SPEAKER_01: But without faith, it is impossible to please him.
- 37:46SPEAKER_01: It doesn't say that it's tricky, it doesn't say that it's you know, if you try hard enough, no, it says it's impossible without faith.
- 38:11SPEAKER_01: And personally for me that's very convicting because that shows me that okay, this is God's expectation and so do I want to please him or do I not want to please him and some verses that God just shared with me now?
- 39:00SPEAKER_01: Um James one five through seven when it talks about um asking for things.
- 39:18SPEAKER_01: How are we asking?
- 39:23SPEAKER_01: We need to be asking by faith without doubting, without wavering.
- 39:32SPEAKER_01: Wavering means doubting, and so even in that I think we can learn too that having faith.
- 39:46SPEAKER_01: Yes, it started with when we receive Jesus Christ as Savior, become a Christian, that's the start of it.
- 40:03SPEAKER_01: That's not the only part of it, that's the start of it.
- 40:14SPEAKER_01: And how are we doing?
- 40:21SPEAKER_01: Are we having that faith?
- 40:24SPEAKER_01: Are we having that trust?
- 40:26SPEAKER_01: Or are we say disobeying James four seven by submitting to Satan instead of submitting to God and resisting the devil.
- 41:10SPEAKER_01: But Hebrews eleven says, but without faith it is impossible to please him.
- 41:26SPEAKER_01: I would encourage you to be mindful of that, to really grab hold of that and think about you know, am I having faith in this area or in this area, or you know, am I struggling somewhere?
- 41:53SPEAKER_01: And just remember that Hebrews 11 6.
- 42:03SPEAKER_01: And so, Mickey, do you have thoughts on this?
- 42:08SPEAKER_00: Um, I actually do because on Hebrews 11 1 it says, now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
- 42:17SPEAKER_00: Um, and it goes on and on, and then it goes down to three.
- 42:20SPEAKER_00: It says, Through faith we understand that the word, the world, worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things that which are seen were not made of things which do appear by faith.
- 42:35SPEAKER_00: Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous.
- 42:42SPEAKER_00: God testifies of his gifts and by the being by and by it being dead, yet he's he speaketh.
- 42:51SPEAKER_00: What I get out of this is that how do we even think or fathom to believe in a God if we don't have faith?
- 42:59SPEAKER_00: We can't see God.
- 43:01SPEAKER_00: We don't see Jesus.
- 43:03SPEAKER_00: We didn't live in the time the in the Bible days.
- 43:06SPEAKER_00: We didn't live when Jesus walked the earth for that 33 years.
- 43:10SPEAKER_00: We never laid eyes on him.
- 43:12SPEAKER_00: Jesus never traveled more than a few hundred miles outside of his home, yet he is known around the whole entire world.
- 43:20SPEAKER_00: And that's because people had faith in what they heard from the from the gospel that got shared, that story that got shared about the cross.
- 43:30SPEAKER_00: And I think about that sometimes, and I think we believe in a God that we can't see, that is not evidently right, sitting right in front of us, because he's all suit, he's supernatural.
- 43:45SPEAKER_00: Um, so it commands for us to have faith because we can't see him, but we have to trust him.
- 43:52SPEAKER_00: Just like we can't see the air that we're breathing right now.
- 43:55SPEAKER_00: But trust me, if you didn't have the air that we're breathing right now, that we cannot see.
- 44:00SPEAKER_00: We would not be breathing right now.
- 44:01SPEAKER_00: We would be in a world of hurt.
- 44:03SPEAKER_00: We'd be struggling.
- 44:04SPEAKER_00: We'd be gasping for air.
- 44:06SPEAKER_00: You know, we would not be able to understand where did the air go.
- 44:10SPEAKER_00: We have faith in air.
- 44:12SPEAKER_00: Sometimes more than we have faith in God.
- 44:16SPEAKER_00: The moment we wake up and we we're breathing, well, we're breathing, you know, continuously.
- 44:20SPEAKER_00: That breath that we take every single time we take a breath, we we have faith that it's just going to be there.
- 44:26SPEAKER_00: Why aren't we having that same amount of faith for God?
- 44:30SPEAKER_00: You can't see the air you breathe.
- 44:33SPEAKER_00: So I believe that's why he commands us to have the faith because it seems unfathomable to follow after a being, a supernatural, high-powered being, an all-creator of the universe, um, the one who breathed stars and planets out of his nostrils.
- 44:52SPEAKER_00: Um, it seems completely unfathomable.
- 44:55SPEAKER_00: Like it seems like someone's crazy imagination.
- 44:59SPEAKER_00: How do we believe in that?
- 45:01SPEAKER_00: The only way we can is through faith.
- 45:05SPEAKER_00: I mean, when you get saved, you you had faith in the moment that Jesus was going to save you and you were gonna be free and you're gonna have salvation, you're gonna have a ticket into eternity, basically.
- 45:17SPEAKER_00: That's that golden ticket that we all want.
- 45:20SPEAKER_00: Um, we have faith in that, which is amazing that we have faith in that, but we have faith in so little of other things that God requires us to have faith in.
- 45:30SPEAKER_00: And that's crazy that we operate like that because we need to just step back and just breathe.
- 45:37SPEAKER_00: And then when we breathe, we should correlate.
- 45:40SPEAKER_00: Every breath that we take is a breath of faith.
- 45:44SPEAKER_00: It's not even air anymore because we can't live without it.
- 45:49SPEAKER_00: And God gets to choose, you know, when we die, we don't choose.
- 45:54SPEAKER_00: And we have to have faith that God has a plan and a purpose for our life.
- 46:00SPEAKER_00: So I think it's important, you know, because especially in in Hebrews 11, it says, now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
- 46:11SPEAKER_00: How many other things do we put faith in that we can't see?
- 46:15SPEAKER_00: When we get in the car, we start it up and we take off.
- 46:20SPEAKER_00: We have faith that every part of that vehicle is in operating order and it's gonna get us from A to B, right?
- 46:27SPEAKER_00: Those are faith in things that we can't really see.
- 46:29SPEAKER_00: We can't see how it's working or not working, or you know what I mean?
- 46:32SPEAKER_00: Like when we go, like people that get into accidents, um, they couldn't see ahead of time what was gonna happen.
- 46:39SPEAKER_00: So an accident happens, you know.
- 46:41SPEAKER_00: Um, there's that type of faith.
- 46:43SPEAKER_00: There's all kinds of faith.
- 46:45SPEAKER_00: It's important, you know, and we don't want to live in the faith of fear.
- 46:48SPEAKER_00: We don't want to have that, like, oh, I'm just gonna have faith that the next thing that's gonna happen is gonna be bad.
- 46:53SPEAKER_00: That's not where I'm going with it.
- 46:54SPEAKER_00: Don't I don't want to get it twisted.
- 46:56SPEAKER_00: We need to understand that God's the power of God's faith is more abundant than probably just about anything next to salvation.
- 47:05SPEAKER_00: That's why He re He requires us to have it.
- 47:10SPEAKER_00: Because we're believing in Him and we can't even see Him, but yet we talk to Him audibly.
- 47:15SPEAKER_00: I talk to Him audibly, out loud, like I'm talking to you guys.
- 47:18SPEAKER_00: I talk to God like this.
- 47:21SPEAKER_00: And people sometimes would probably think I should be in the loony bin, but you know what?
- 47:25SPEAKER_00: I'm not gonna stop talking to God because I have enough faith in God to believe that how real He is, just like I have faith in the air that I breathe.
- 47:34SPEAKER_00: So that's why I believe that God wants it to be, you know, it, you know, He He wants us to have it, and um He will not be pleased unless we do have it.
- 47:47SPEAKER_00: You know, like it says in Hebrews 6, um, which is what you were sharing, faith is impossible, without it, it's impossible to please Him.
- 47:56SPEAKER_00: Because we don't operate sometimes we don't operate in faith, but we need to be.
- 48:02SPEAKER_00: He can't operate in us if we don't have enough faith in believing in Him that He can do it, like the blind man or the woman at the well, or the or not the woman at the well, but the woman with the bleeding issue.
- 48:13SPEAKER_00: Um, those people that had that amount of faith, it was amazing.
- 48:18SPEAKER_00: That's what God, that's the faith God wants us to have every day with everything.
- 48:24SPEAKER_00: And some people will be like, well, isn't it selfish of me to have faith like that?
- 48:29SPEAKER_00: No, actually it's not.
- 48:32SPEAKER_00: He wants that.
- 48:33SPEAKER_00: He actually wants us to have that much faith, even though it does say it does speak on, you know, the amount of faith is the amount of a mustard seed.
- 48:43SPEAKER_00: And I think people get that twisted.
- 48:46SPEAKER_00: They think that that's all the faith that you need.
- 48:49SPEAKER_00: That's it.
- 48:50SPEAKER_00: And honestly, that is really it if you're operating in it.
- 48:54SPEAKER_00: But sometimes we're like, oh, I just gotta muster up the faith.
- 48:58SPEAKER_00: You know, I gotta muster up the faith.
- 49:00SPEAKER_00: I gotta muster up faith.
- 49:01SPEAKER_00: Really, why, you know, we cannot just conjure up faith.
- 49:06SPEAKER_00: You have to really have it, you have to believe in it.
- 49:09SPEAKER_00: It's a belief system.
- 49:12SPEAKER_00: You know, I believe that people are good.
- 49:14SPEAKER_00: I don't believe that everyone is evil.
- 49:16SPEAKER_00: I believe that people make mistakes.
- 49:18SPEAKER_00: People are human beings and we're we are um all errable.
- 49:24SPEAKER_00: We all can have errors upon us, you know, we all can make mistakes.
- 49:29SPEAKER_00: And I believe that doesn't make that be mean that because you made a mistake that you're you, you know, you're the worst person in the entire world.
- 49:36SPEAKER_00: Um, could you do for some changing?
- 49:38SPEAKER_00: Probably so.
- 49:39SPEAKER_00: But when you think of Saul going to Paul and God changed that dude, I mean, you know, for real.
- 49:46SPEAKER_00: And and that guy started churches and prophesied and everything in Jesus' name.
- 49:53SPEAKER_00: And he killed, he killed so many Christians, you know, and it's like, if God can change that, dude, you know, he can change any anyone, you know.
- 50:04SPEAKER_00: And it's not that we have to even change, we don't have to change to have faith.
- 50:09SPEAKER_00: I don't want to, I don't want people to get it wrong here.
- 50:11SPEAKER_00: I don't want that to get twisted either.
- 50:12SPEAKER_00: I try to be careful with what I say because I don't want people to think, oh, well, I have to change in order to have faith.
- 50:16SPEAKER_00: You don't have to change at all, just have faith.
- 50:20SPEAKER_00: God will do the work.
- 50:22SPEAKER_00: If you have faith, when the blind man had the faith in the sight, Jesus did the work.
- 50:28SPEAKER_00: The blind man didn't do it.
- 50:30SPEAKER_00: Sometimes we think that we have to do the work in order to have the faith.
- 50:35SPEAKER_00: We don't.
- 50:36SPEAKER_00: We just have to have the faith.
- 50:38SPEAKER_00: It's really it's really that simple.
- 50:39SPEAKER_00: So I hope that answers your question.
- 50:41SPEAKER_00: That was some great scripture, by the way.
- 50:45SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 50:47SPEAKER_01: And so um for our next episode, then we'll uh discuss weakness and temperance, and I trust that these episodes on the fruit of the spirit have been helpful and encouraging to you.
- 51:13SPEAKER_01: And if you've missed any of them, please go back and um listen to them.
- 51:23SPEAKER_01: They are spirit-filled, and I believe you will get um great benefit from them.
- 51:35SPEAKER_01: And so Mickey, is there anything else you would like to say before we uh close out?
- 51:46SPEAKER_00: Um not other than praying us out.
- 51:50SPEAKER_00: Are you ready for that?
- 51:52SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 51:53SPEAKER_00: Okay, Father God, Lord, we thank you.
- 51:55SPEAKER_00: We thank you for the fruits of the Spirit, and we thank you for for trusting us with the fruits of the Spirit that you bestow upon us, Lord.
- 52:02SPEAKER_00: And we just ask that you help us to walk in those fruits that we could we could produce good fruit, Lord.
- 52:07SPEAKER_00: And help us to be mindful and help us to be diligent and discerning.
- 52:12SPEAKER_00: And Lord, just help us to see your goodness in all things, Lord.
- 52:16SPEAKER_00: You're so good.
- 52:17SPEAKER_00: You're such a good, good father, as Chris Tomlin sings in his song, and and and it's it's it's it's so reassuring to know that you're you're not one to press upon evil or or have a have a have a plan to to hurt anyone or or any of that, Lord.
- 52:34SPEAKER_00: We just we just thank you for being just goodness that you are.
- 52:38SPEAKER_00: Help us to learn to walk in that goodness, Lord, and and to have your your faith and and your strength, Lord.
- 52:46SPEAKER_00: And I just ask that you pray and you comfort every person that's listening and watching today, God, that you bring forth that um that ability for them to be able to walk out their faith, Lord.
- 52:58SPEAKER_00: And if if they are concerned and they're not sure how or or they're questioning that, Lord, I just encourage them to pray to you to strengthen their faith because you're the you're the you're the author of our faith, Lord.
- 53:11SPEAKER_00: You're the creator.
- 53:12SPEAKER_00: And Lord, we just trust that if someone's lacking in that area, they can just call out to you and you can help them and help them to strengthen that area of their life, Lord.
- 53:21SPEAKER_00: And I do ask that people just work on building up the strength that they need to have more faith in you, God.
- 53:28SPEAKER_00: Because without you, God, we have nothing.
- 53:30SPEAKER_00: We are nothing.
- 53:31SPEAKER_00: You created us.
- 53:33SPEAKER_00: And Lord, I know that what you gave, you could take away in a moment, in a heartbeat, if you wanted.
- 53:38SPEAKER_00: So we need to have faith that what you have for us is a future and a hope.
- 53:42SPEAKER_00: And and like your word says in Jeremiah, Lord, we just thank you for this message.
- 53:45SPEAKER_00: We thank you for Bethany.
- 53:47SPEAKER_00: We thank you for her time that she's very studious and she loves to study and and and bring such good scripture to the table to where we can talk about these topics and um just share your word, Lord.
- 54:00SPEAKER_00: Your Bible says to go out and share the gospel, and that's what we want to do.
- 54:04SPEAKER_00: We want to share the truth.
- 54:05SPEAKER_00: We want people to know what the truth is and what your expectation is so that we are pleasing to you, God.
- 54:10SPEAKER_00: We don't want to let you down.
- 54:11SPEAKER_00: We don't want to be displeasing.
- 54:13SPEAKER_00: We want you to, at the end of the day, you know, say, Well done, thou good and faithful servant.
- 54:19SPEAKER_00: We don't want you to say, Depart from me, I never knew you, Lord.
- 54:22SPEAKER_00: And that is that is what we strive for, Lord.
- 54:24SPEAKER_00: We just ask that you forgive us of our sins, help us to be repentant, and um just watch over us and guide us.
- 54:31SPEAKER_00: Lord, watch over this episode and and just help us help us to get it out there and get it broad.
- 54:36SPEAKER_00: And Lord, I just ask that people listen to it, Lord.
- 54:38SPEAKER_00: And uh, and they share it and they like it and they follow it, and they they they encourage other people to listen to it, Lord, because we want your truth to be told.
- 54:46SPEAKER_00: That's what this podcast is about.
- 54:47SPEAKER_00: We thank you for all that you do for us and and everything in all of your glory, Lord.
- 54:52SPEAKER_00: In Jesus' name I pray, amen.
