- 0:43Speaker 5: My girlfriend is gonna get really upseted.
- 0:44Speaker 2: I mean, so play it safe pass Europe. Yeah, obviously
- 0:49Speaker 2: about feeling. That's the problem.
- 0:52Speaker 1: I've seen you recently on the Downbeat podcast talking about
- 0:54Speaker 1: your Moto Compacto.
- 0:57Speaker 3: How did this make it to this interview? That's crazy,
- 1:00Speaker 3: It's fucking hilarious.
- 1:01Speaker 2: I love the video. He looks like a.
- 1:03Speaker 1: Local drug deal, just going to Batty's business.
- 1:07Speaker 2: Listen, not I could do it.
- 1:09Speaker 3: We're traveling around, we could do things.
- 1:11Speaker 2: You know exactly something multi years. Did you get sponsored
- 1:15Speaker 2: from Hondur.
- 1:16Speaker 3: Or No, they don't give a shit about me.
- 1:18Speaker 2: It's the biggest yes.
- 1:22Speaker 3: Honda Compact deveilable in a period in your ear.
- 1:24Speaker 2: Just keep it to I can't keep tagging you. People
- 1:28Speaker 2: will help me, please, He'll leave you alone for good.
- 1:34Speaker 1: So, growing up, I was enamored by the fields but
- 1:36Speaker 1: Billbowsburones and missus as the world. Does it blow you
- 1:40Speaker 1: away that now you're in that list and you're considered
- 1:42Speaker 1: right up there with the deathcoll Grace.
- 1:44Speaker 2: Well, I just don't believe it.
- 1:45Speaker 3: So it's I like doing I like the whole denial
- 1:48Speaker 3: thing is.
- 1:48Speaker 2: Easier to accept.
- 1:49Speaker 3: So I'm just like, yeah, thank you, I appreciate that.
- 1:51Speaker 3: I'm glad you think so. I'm I don't think.
- 1:54Speaker 5: I mean, there's a part of us that we all
- 1:56Speaker 5: have some kind of nostalgia to growing up. So we're like,
- 1:59Speaker 5: this is for It doesn't matter what change, what happens,
- 2:02Speaker 5: they will always be the best to us.
- 2:04Speaker 1: Yeah, and similar on that vein.
- 2:07Speaker 5: But the.
- 2:09Speaker 1: Melissa Cross doing that. I watched the video that come
- 2:12Speaker 1: out and you kind of look like like a proud
- 2:14Speaker 1: son standing there like you.
- 2:15Speaker 2: For pase Hell, yeah, I did this.
- 2:18Speaker 1: How is that experience? And is there anything that you
- 2:20Speaker 1: took from that that you imply every day?
- 2:22Speaker 2: She's a sweetye pie. I'm not gonna lie.
- 2:26Speaker 5: We did the vocal lessons so that Moke can do
- 2:30Speaker 5: more vocals. I kind of just hung out.
- 2:38Speaker 2: Shout out. I learned a lot, That's what he would say.
- 2:45Speaker 2: You did that, You learned a lot. You did. We're
- 2:47Speaker 2: very proud of them. Listen joined the band, probably not
- 2:52Speaker 2: expecting to do vocals. Yeah, he's doing vocals now and
- 3:02Speaker 2: he's gonna just do the vocals. Yeah, I can't wait
- 3:05Speaker 2: for that. Is there a time from this run or past.
- 3:11Speaker 3: Aussie tours that will stick with you for life?
- 3:14Speaker 2: Oh? You can say right now, that's fine. I mean,
- 3:18Speaker 2: I won't lie.
- 3:19Speaker 4: The festival we played in Melbourne, which is really awesome,
- 3:21Speaker 4: Like it was just really cool because it was like
- 3:23Speaker 4: I felt like we were playing in Jurassic Clark.
- 3:24Speaker 2: The sun was setting. It was a really awesome time.
- 3:26Speaker 4: I like, I definitely enjoyed that because we never played
- 3:28Speaker 4: at festival here, so that was like our first festival
- 3:30Speaker 4: being played here.
- 3:31Speaker 2: That was awesome.
- 3:32Speaker 4: But I mean, most of my good times here have
- 3:35Speaker 4: been not at shows. So it's been it's been really awesome.
- 3:38Speaker 4: Like we were in a like Freemantle or the Perth area.
- 3:41Speaker 4: We like to go to the hell yeah, which was
- 3:42Speaker 4: like incredible.
- 3:43Speaker 2: That was that was really awesome. Sixteen kangaroos.
- 3:45Speaker 4: When we first came here just doing all like the
- 3:47Speaker 4: stereotypical tourist stuff.
- 3:48Speaker 2: Was really a great time coming here. So I loved
- 3:52Speaker 2: it all. Big fan of per Freemantle air we went
- 3:55Speaker 2: to that you guys literally don't know it was ever said,
- 4:00Speaker 2: and then I was like I had the best time there.
- 4:02Speaker 5: Explain to me how you could not enj Okay, Well,
- 4:05Speaker 5: I guess you guys are on the beach out time
- 4:06Speaker 5: year from New Jersey where the beach is like brown water.
- 4:09Speaker 5: So we had a day where we were like, you know,
- 4:11Speaker 5: we go to this little island where they got like
- 4:13Speaker 5: quocas and ship, and then we had days where we
- 4:16Speaker 5: were just like going to the beach and just cooking
- 4:19Speaker 5: there like so.
- 4:21Speaker 4: And then also that it was in February, so like
- 4:23Speaker 4: back home it would have been like dreary, cold and gray.
- 4:26Speaker 4: It's like this is amazing right now, you know, So
- 4:28Speaker 4: like I think it was. That was really awesome. I mean,
- 4:30Speaker 4: you guys love runch out here, so I had a
- 4:33Speaker 4: lot of it good. So those are those are fond
- 4:36Speaker 4: memories of going to a cafe.
- 4:37Speaker 1: Having you guys start brunch in New Jersey.
- 4:42Speaker 2: We do we do well like you guys like have
- 4:44Speaker 2: an abundant amount of it.
- 4:46Speaker 3: Yeah, you know what I'm saying.
- 4:47Speaker 2: Like there were a samples of fly of it.
- 4:49Speaker 4: So and everyone talked about how great it was, and
- 4:51Speaker 4: I was like, I don't I'm using contrary at heart,
- 4:53Speaker 4: and I'm like, I don't believe this until I have
- 4:55Speaker 4: to like see it for myself. So I was like, yeah,
- 4:57Speaker 4: I'm gonna put it to the test. And I've enjoyed
- 4:59Speaker 4: brunch here.
- 5:00Speaker 2: I kind of have to as well. Okay, I've been
- 5:03Speaker 2: to New Jersey. Hell, yeah, it's the best place. It's
- 5:06Speaker 2: I love it.
- 5:07Speaker 4: But what the hell is wrong with your coffee?
- 5:11Speaker 2: You gotta go places? Now, that's the thing. Do you
- 5:12Speaker 2: like the coffee?
- 5:13Speaker 1: Heat?
- 5:13Speaker 2: Coffee? Coffee is solid. It wakes me up. Yeah, it
- 5:17Speaker 2: doesn't work as much as I would like it to,
- 5:19Speaker 2: but it definitely works. Okay.
- 5:21Speaker 3: I am a utilitarian coffee guy.
- 5:24Speaker 2: I don't care like you can give me. I always drink.
- 5:27Speaker 3: Espresso and people are like, oh, this espresso tastes great.
- 5:29Speaker 2: Fucking know it doesn't. It tastes terrible. I don't want
- 5:32Speaker 2: I want to go from here to like here, and
- 5:35Speaker 2: how quickly can it be? I don't care what it
- 5:36Speaker 2: tastes like. If it tastes horrible, but it does the
- 5:38Speaker 2: job perfect, I don't like doing it.
- 5:41Speaker 5: But liquid cocaine is basically how I want to have
- 5:46Speaker 5: my coffee.
- 5:50Speaker 1: It's just a caffeine pill. No do so you can
- 5:52Speaker 1: have two of them.
- 5:53Speaker 2: Truck truck drivers take them. Yeah, yeah, they do. It's
- 6:00Speaker 2: truck drivers having and stuff like that. It's it's pretty bad.
- 6:02Speaker 3: He's like half fiend garma type.
- 6:05Speaker 2: I think, I mean coffee. It was a way probably
- 6:07Speaker 2: a healthier option. Yeah. Honestly, if you don't.
- 6:11Speaker 4: Know the place of the go in New Jersey, you'll
- 6:13Speaker 4: get really bad stuff. Okay, So like there is really
- 6:16Speaker 4: there is snobby, like pretentious coffee shops all over the place.
- 6:20Speaker 2: He's got to snow where to go.
- 6:21Speaker 3: Okay, you gotta go to a city.
- 6:22Speaker 2: Also, just literally go to the search.
- 6:24Speaker 5: Coffee co op and Nick Chance and you'll find you'll
- 6:28Speaker 5: find it.
- 6:28Speaker 2: A photographer.
- 6:29Speaker 4: Yet there's an exposed ceiling and like some minimalist design, he's.
- 6:34Speaker 2: Gonna he's gonna be there.
- 6:36Speaker 4: We're talking black and white everything, and everything would and
- 6:40Speaker 4: then like probably someone on a laptop like trying to
- 6:43Speaker 4: write something like that's probably good coffee.
- 6:45Speaker 2: That's gonna be good.
- 6:46Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 6:47Speaker 1: Essentially, again, I will never have a Jersey don't come
- 6:52Speaker 1: from me place.
- 6:53Speaker 2: I love New Jersey. Everyone should.
- 6:55Speaker 1: Yes, I'm in Atlantic City though, and it was a
- 6:58Speaker 1: bit scary, but that's okay, scary.
- 7:05Speaker 3: I got nothing to say, nothing good on that.
- 7:08Speaker 1: Not your guitar taste is sensational orthon so myself. Traditionally
- 7:14Speaker 1: in your death core you've got like black Jackson or nothing,
- 7:17Speaker 1: and then there's you. You come out with this this
- 7:19Speaker 1: wicked like zebra sparkly yeah yeah, and the other ones
- 7:23Speaker 1: like fireburst or.
- 7:24Speaker 2: Something oe sunrise.
- 7:27Speaker 1: That's exactly what it is, and like it's like sunbursts.
- 7:30Speaker 1: That's offender, isn't it.
- 7:31Speaker 3: Everyone is slowly following suit. Now we got Molke with the.
- 7:35Speaker 5: Like this purple galaxy and Perry Winkle Perrywinkle purple lavender beasts,
- 7:41Speaker 5: and then uh, you have like a.
- 7:43Speaker 2: Cherry blossom guitar.
- 7:44Speaker 1: So yeah, well that's kind of my point, it's like,
- 7:47Speaker 1: you guys are breaking what it is to do being
- 7:49Speaker 1: a death core band. You're actually just being yourself. So
- 7:51Speaker 1: you've got like, you know, pink curls, You've got you
- 7:53Speaker 1: actually pop in color, and it's like basically setting the
- 7:56Speaker 1: scene for it's okay to be yourself and still play music.
- 8:00Speaker 4: When I got to guitar, I used to love all
- 8:02Speaker 4: these like hair metal like eighties like guitar players, and
- 8:05Speaker 4: they all had like bright, outrageous color guitars, and I'm like,
- 8:07Speaker 4: why did.
- 8:08Speaker 2: We just go to like just safe colors?
- 8:11Speaker 4: And I'm just like, I just I don't know. I
- 8:12Speaker 4: think I just love the ages in general. I think
- 8:14Speaker 4: it's unapologetically itself. I don't care how like potentially tacky
- 8:19Speaker 4: and cheesy it is. They like it owns, it leads
- 8:21Speaker 4: into it, and I think there's something about that that I
- 8:23Speaker 4: just absolutely love.
- 8:24Speaker 1: That makes a love of sense. Actually you're looking at
- 8:26Speaker 1: the stars and what there it is exactly? So what
- 8:29Speaker 1: happens with you near and DearS when you've released an
- 8:31Speaker 1: album like to set the scene and sitting at the
- 8:33Speaker 1: type of going, haven't listen to this?
- 8:34Speaker 3: What do you reckon?
- 8:35Speaker 1: Did they sit there and go that's you know, that's nice,
- 8:38Speaker 1: or do they sit there and go yeah, like do
- 8:40Speaker 1: they guess I don't show them.
- 8:42Speaker 2: They don't know my girl. My girl would just say
- 8:44Speaker 2: like thank you for showing that.
- 8:48Speaker 1: It's experience.
- 8:49Speaker 2: She's like she's supported, but like it's I don't know.
- 8:52Speaker 2: I think they.
- 8:53Speaker 4: See the other end of us, like struggling trying to
- 8:56Speaker 4: make it. So it's a lot different, like I would
- 8:57Speaker 4: say for me, at least that's kind of.
- 8:59Speaker 5: How I like, there's just more snow that were we
- 9:02Speaker 5: made it through the tunnel that hell is.
- 9:05Speaker 2: I think believe that it's done.
- 9:08Speaker 1: I wouldn't say anything else. It's great, we loved it,
- 9:10Speaker 1: don't do it again, place at least another two years.
- 9:14Speaker 1: What would your guilty pleasure song being for each of you?
- 9:17Speaker 1: Like a Bernie and Rasputan or you know, what's what
- 9:20Speaker 1: do you put on when they like by the way,
- 9:23Speaker 1: freaking banger.
- 9:25Speaker 5: If it's Christmas time, it's gonna be uh rocking around
- 9:27Speaker 5: on the Christmas tree as I have been listening to
- 9:30Speaker 5: that pretty much every single day since December has started.
- 9:33Speaker 1: Oh shit.
- 9:33Speaker 2: To be honest, I don't believe in guilty pleasure. I
- 9:36Speaker 2: believe that like you should own.
- 9:37Speaker 4: What you listen to and if if you if you
- 9:39Speaker 4: feel bad about it, Hell yeah, why you know what
- 9:41Speaker 4: I'm saying. If you like a song, you like a song,
- 9:42Speaker 4: You've not group So like, I would listen to anything
- 9:45Speaker 4: that I enjoyed. But Christmas music and this time of
- 9:47Speaker 4: year is amazing.
- 9:48Speaker 2: So I love it all.
- 9:50Speaker 3: What do you But it's a little weird when you
- 9:52Speaker 3: say it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas and
- 9:54Speaker 3: then there's palm trees and there's no snow at all.
- 9:57Speaker 4: It's probably my favorite Christmas song, You've Gone mispect It's
- 10:00Speaker 4: a really.
- 10:00Speaker 2: Good Yeah, a shout out.
- 10:02Speaker 3: So the Puerto Ricans out there who made that agrees
- 10:05Speaker 3: on it.
- 10:06Speaker 1: Doesn't absolutely blow your mind that we actually stuffer through
- 10:08Speaker 1: at Christmas and we have to have like on everyone.
- 10:12Speaker 4: People's trying to explain to me how it's it's great
- 10:14Speaker 4: because it's like, oh, you can have like you have
- 10:16Speaker 4: the peach, and I'm like, none of that screams Christmas
- 10:18Speaker 4: to me. I'm sorry, Yeah, I'm not trying to like, yeah,
- 10:20Speaker 4: I understand, yeah, I'm not trying to like knok on
- 10:23Speaker 4: like you know, the holiday over here. But I just
- 10:26Speaker 4: think it just doesn't get the same vibe as Christmas.
- 10:28Speaker 1: White Christmas and you have Thanksgiving. I feel like we're
- 10:31Speaker 1: really missing out on That's.
- 10:35Speaker 5: Okay.
- 10:36Speaker 3: I think the best thing.
- 10:37Speaker 5: About Thanksgiving, And in my mind I thought every culture
- 10:40Speaker 5: had a version of this, But it's literally it's just
- 10:42Speaker 5: bringing the family together, because I honestly half of these
- 10:45Speaker 5: holidays are bullshit, you know, it's all just like how
- 10:48Speaker 5: do we we need an excuse to get everybody together?
- 10:51Speaker 2: That's what it's about.
- 10:52Speaker 4: I will say that's the nice thing about holidays like that,
- 10:54Speaker 4: and said like, especially with us touring as much as
- 10:56Speaker 4: we do, we don't get to see everyone as often,
- 10:59Speaker 4: so like he got home to be able to have
- 11:01Speaker 4: excuse me, So it' nice to be able to catch
- 11:03Speaker 4: up and see people that I haven't see either like
- 11:05Speaker 4: a year or even a few years, so that I
- 11:07Speaker 4: do like happen. That just like something to especially this
- 11:09Speaker 4: time your careersually knock on tour as much, so we
- 11:12Speaker 4: gotta go to Thanksgi and go to have Christmas stuff
- 11:14Speaker 4: like that. So it's nice to kind of have those
- 11:16Speaker 4: holidays and get to see our family.
- 11:17Speaker 2: When you get a chance. Like what do you think
- 11:19Speaker 2: about Turkey? I do love turkey. I'm not gonna lie.
- 11:22Speaker 2: I do enjoy turkey. I do enjoy stuffing, but like,
- 11:27Speaker 2: well then never mind.
- 11:28Speaker 1: I mean.
- 11:35Speaker 2: It's always try, isn't it. It's well, you need grievy,
- 11:39Speaker 2: sure you don't see it. I mean if I just
- 11:40Speaker 2: hate turkey, myself would be obviously you know me, you like,
- 11:46Speaker 2: you're not gonna put any sauce, no gravy, know nothing
- 11:49Speaker 2: about it. I know, so hesn to eat it dry.
- 11:51Speaker 2: So of course he's gonna hate it. It's not good
- 11:54Speaker 2: for me.
- 11:56Speaker 3: He's try checking it.
- 11:59Speaker 2: The drive Turkey is turn mom. It's not a great
- 12:02Speaker 2: all the other that's the word I was trying to
- 12:05Speaker 2: figure out. That's I think we got one or two
- 12:07Speaker 2: more questions. Yeah, beautiful Thanksgiving. Have you have you discovered
- 12:12Speaker 2: any bands you like on the lineup that you didn't
- 12:14Speaker 2: know before.
- 12:16Speaker 3: Gold Finger?
- 12:18Speaker 2: I didn't know they made that song.
- 12:20Speaker 3: Yeah, I didn't know. I mean that's not I was like,
- 12:23Speaker 3: oh ship, Wow, I knew like this band that I
- 12:26Speaker 3: didn't know.
- 12:26Speaker 2: I liked them.
- 12:27Speaker 4: I think it's not like I discovered them, but I
- 12:29Speaker 4: feel like I rekindled uh an interest swim is. We've
- 12:32Speaker 4: been watching make them stuff for every every day that's
- 12:35Speaker 4: been they used to love years ago, and like, I
- 12:37Speaker 4: haven't really like listened.
- 12:39Speaker 2: To him, and then kind of started watching them on
- 12:42Speaker 2: those bands. Awesome. Yeah, you can tell them if you
- 12:45Speaker 2: say them, we do, we have, We're not, We're not,
- 12:49Speaker 2: we're not, we have, we have no shame. I literally
- 12:53Speaker 2: went over to them yesterday.
- 12:54Speaker 3: It was like, I just want to let you know.
- 12:56Speaker 5: I'm kind of part of the top point zero five
- 13:00Speaker 5: percent of monthly list, so like, oh daddy, it's one.
- 13:10Speaker 1: First, ladies and gentlemen, alright, thank you.
- 13:14Speaker 3: Don't worry about one. Don't look at beautiful.
- 13:19Speaker 1: Sorry, Okay, what's an aussy thing you love and an
- 13:23Speaker 1: aussy thing you could live with that.
- 13:26Speaker 2: I haven't tried vegamite, but people talk crap about it,
- 13:28Speaker 2: so does it. It doesn't make me want to have it.
- 13:30Speaker 2: We're all out of it. Otherwise I'd be like he
- 13:34Speaker 2: and I do love your brush.
- 13:36Speaker 3: The brush.
- 13:40Speaker 5: I'm gonna say the same thing about vegemite and everything
- 13:42Speaker 5: that could possibly kill you in this country that I.
- 13:44Speaker 3: Have heard is like literally everywhere.
- 13:47Speaker 2: Have you saved one yet? Snails were here, two cases,
- 13:55Speaker 2: probably at least a fist. Like the size of this
- 13:58Speaker 2: room yeah, they do that dome. It was definitely that son.
- 14:02Speaker 5: I'll take Asian food all day because it gets better
- 14:04Speaker 5: here than good.
- 14:06Speaker 4: Actually, you do know what doing out your sunburn? Because
- 14:10Speaker 4: I got really bad and it was I was like
- 14:12Speaker 4: a tomato.
- 14:13Speaker 5: It was.
- 14:14Speaker 2: It was obnoxiously bad. It was embarrassing, but it was.
- 14:17Speaker 2: It was. It was cloudy. I was agree about Bok
- 14:20Speaker 2: outside and then like my base blue bird.
- 14:22Speaker 3: Yeah, thank you guys, so very much, thank you, thank
- 14:26Speaker 3: you for having us worries.
- 14:27Speaker 2: Don't start doing that, you know, don't you knew what knew?
- 14:51Speaker 2: My d I want to feel that my.
- 14:55Speaker 1: Tom my tile time, just my dumb, I
- 15:00Speaker 2: Said when I ad damn my thought all why I
