- 0:01The middle of this concept, which is the way a person can
- 0:05become a highly dedicated to the service of Hashem, is by what he
- 0:10says is staring, observing, in other words, and contemplating
- 0:16it. Boys talk a loot a little bit
- 0:18more than root by contemplating. That's going to make you become
- 0:22very dedicated to Hashem also because I did what we were
- 0:25developing yesterday is that when you really stop and think
- 0:27about what we have, you become a warm with excitement and
- 0:31appreciation. It's very hard to do so,
- 0:35however. So how does he does do so you
- 0:39have to think alone the and gather the entire mind and all
- 0:48your thoughts, all your you developed ideas, all focusing on
- 0:52this truth of what Hashem is given to you and the way he
- 0:55breaks it down. Hashem is not so much for the
- 0:57world, for the Jewish people and for you, He said.
- 1:05This is part of the purpose of saying to Elim.
- 1:08If you stop and you read to Elim quietly without much going on,
- 1:12not much on your mind, you read it slowly and start reading how
- 1:14the words apply to you, and that makes you overwhelmed with the
- 1:19same. And you think about what the
- 1:23words mean. Now not a lot of the words of
- 1:24Telim don't relate to me, but the ones that do, the ones that
- 1:29relate to the old Jewish people, that gives me a great feeling of
- 1:32being overwhelmed and excitement.
- 1:34Kibiotam kulambalimahavira, the common in Hasidut because from
- 1:39the elim you have words of love of Hashem, fear of God and
- 1:44serving God in it with Boronobam.
- 1:47As you think about these words, loima na me tore, you will not
- 1:52be able to hold back from being inspired.
- 1:55Hey Tore de Gadot, great inspiration that says babe for
- 1:59tav that I have to follow and Hastavia Mel's right servation.
- 2:03Babia Mel was considered the greatest Hassi.
- 2:06What's mean the greatest Hassi? It means the greatest was
- 2:09dedicated servant of Hashem and I'm going to be like him.
- 2:13How is that going to happen in this certain sense of it has
- 2:17serious excitement. Hassidis I'm going to sing
- 2:20songs. Hassim someone has love.
- 2:22Moshe Edmond has the greatest man traveled and the greatest
- 2:26Shaliak the different strengths. Navia metal strength was song
- 2:30excitement that episode. The gento E la crea besi pul
- 2:34masih hasidim bacadotta sheba ocean as well.
- 2:40Reading stories about great people.
- 2:42I really could call a limit or remit asek.
- 2:45All these things inspire us. Let ya it's velasatka ma sahim
- 2:50and ehmadi was emevoir. So he's giving you another
- 2:52indication, another way of becoming great is when you learn
- 2:56about stories, real stories of great people.
- 3:00You read the given our stories of great people.
- 3:02When you read the rabbi stories of great people, those make you
- 3:05inspired to follow their ways. And there's a bit of a different
- 3:08point. The original point was when you
- 3:11look at your life and look what Hashem did for you.
- 3:14Like I mentioned yesterday, again, inspired.
- 3:16This point is another way to inspire you is to copy.
- 3:21When you copy great people, when you recognize how great people
- 3:24lived, you get excited to live their way.
- 3:26We have this thing, we all travel to Israel.
- 3:30We go to these simple apartments.
- 3:32You see these rappers and you get all excited and the mind is
- 3:35saying to yourself, there's something about the way they
- 3:38live. Then you come back home and then
- 3:40you know, we live in our homes, I think our homes or something
- 3:43like a crazy house, but we all sound kind of dropped our
- 3:47mindset while we're there, while we're seeing, then we're getting
- 3:49all excited about the way they live as if in our mind we're
- 3:51saying to ourselves, I want to live like them.
- 3:54What is that thought process and how do we adapt it?
- 3:57The thought process is this is the key for this inspiration
- 4:01thought process is when you see great people, you hear stories
- 4:04of great people, you hear stories of rabbis.
- 4:07The idea is it tickles a certain part of us that says I want to
- 4:10be like him. I know that way of life is more
- 4:16the truth than my way. I know that that way, which
- 4:18doesn't involve the same mundane components, it doesn't involve a
- 4:23seem being running after this world as much and all that.
- 4:26I feel better with that way and I feel like that way is more
- 4:29real. My problem however, is, and I
- 4:32come back to my life and have a lot of time adapting that way.
- 4:37The idea of absorbing stories, like I said, real stories, not
- 4:41pie in the sky stories, real stories of great people.
- 4:45When you hear these stories, when you absorb these stories as
- 4:48that a part of yourself becomes more dedicated and more
- 4:50interested in these ideas and therefore wants to follow them.
- 4:53Joe, that's the idea. And then over time you get more
- 4:58used to the idea of living like them than living like this life,
- 5:02and you get less interested in the mundane things that pull us
- 5:06down then you would have been interested prior.
- 5:09Instead, you drop them because you recognize as a way of life
- 5:12as dedicated to Hashem and isn't focused on nonsense.
- 5:16It doesn't get bogged down and that way life will drive me.
- 5:19So he's telling you there are two different ways to be heavily
- 5:22inspired. One way is by analyzing how much
- 5:26Hashem has done for you and by saying to yourself, I want to
- 5:30serve him. And the other way is by
- 5:33analyzing how much other people live in service of Hashem and
- 5:38saying to yourself, I want to be like them.
- 5:40These are two different methods to make you a servant of God,
- 5:43make you heavily dedicated in your appreciation and your
- 5:46following of Hashem, following your inspiration or following
- 5:51your interest in mirroring other people.
- 5:53Now the challenge is, the question is, can we adapt the
- 5:57ways of other great people? When you hear stories of great
- 6:00people, what does it do for you? That's the challenge.
- 6:03Does you? If it does, then I'll be able to
- 6:05create more hassidut, more dedication and more service.
- 6:09The more I get inspired by following that person, the more
- 6:12I get motivated, the more I want to copy them.
- 6:16But the interesting thing is, is that there's an inspiration
- 6:18that's natural, which is just being inspired by God by
- 6:22focusing on him. And when he's done for you, then
- 6:24I'll make him inspire. And then there's the
- 6:26inspiration, which is a little more copycat, which is this one,
- 6:30however, I call a copycat, but it's not really a copycat.
- 6:33It's you're seeing the truth. He recognizes the truth.
- 6:36He may not have been naturally inspired like these people, but
- 6:40you do see their way of life as more true.
- 6:43This is the key concept. I watched him and I feel like
- 6:46something's right about them. I watched him.
- 6:48I feel like the sense of purity focus, not getting bogged down.
- 6:53And there were life. So you go deeper to focus on
- 6:56this concept. Why and how do stories of rabbis
- 7:01make a difference? Why do we tell our children
- 7:03stories of great people as you relate to us?
- 7:06I'm not that person. I wasn't in that time.
- 7:10I don't really, you know, have the exact same.
- 7:13I can't really relate to their way of life.
- 7:16How does it have an effect? Why do they say tell your
- 7:18children these stories? Why do they say you want to
- 7:21treat your children? You got shamayim, fear of
- 7:24heaven. One of the main things is tell
- 7:27them stories. You want to make your children
- 7:29love Hashem, Tell them stories. But the stories don't relate to
- 7:33us. But this is the key concept.
- 7:35Following their way will have an impression on us.
- 7:40So even though I may not relate to their way of life right now
- 7:43and I definitely do not have their source of inspiration,
- 7:46they have theirs and I have mine.
- 7:48I hear a story about a rabbi that worked through poverty and
- 7:52he learned without having any money or someone who gave away
- 7:55his last dollar for charity. And these things don't really
- 7:58relate to me. I don't have their drive to give
- 8:01away my last dollar to help that brother of.
- 8:04Mine don't. You have the goal and higher
- 8:06moral standards, so you want to. So you mirror there as we leak,
- 8:09but there's a connection, right? The point is, you may not
- 8:12connection, you may not have their source of inspiration, but
- 8:15you can use it's like, it's like learning something from the
- 8:18front end or learning something from the back end.
- 8:21You can develop the concept of yourself that would be the
- 8:23original inspiration. Or you could just use the fact
- 8:26that you're kind of, let's call it copycat, the way of these
- 8:30great people and you're seeing their inspiration along with the
- 8:33fact that you recognize that their way of life, which was
- 8:36inspired is true. And I want to follow the fact
- 8:39that that's true and that's genuine and that's special.
- 8:42And that created a better, whole more wholesome existence.
- 8:44I want to follow that existence. I may not have their
- 8:47inspiration, but I do have a recognition of the way they
- 8:51lived and how it's good. It's.
- 8:53Not the care. I would be at the the feet of
- 8:55the Hakamim. That's it.
- 8:58And you pick up from them beyond their feet, exactly Ivanka, and
- 9:02you pick up from them how to live.
- 9:05And that's the key idea of a we want to become a Hasid.
- 9:08You want to become a dedicated person, just following their way
- 9:11of life and following what they've done.
- 9:13A lot of times we don't know their background.
- 9:17We don't really know how they got inspired.
- 9:20We were on there by the upbringing.
- 9:22We don't have an hour modern day.
- 9:24This is a big part of the stories as well.
- 9:26We don't really have their triggers, which means I don't
- 9:29have, thank God. There is simplicity, right?
- 9:33I don't live in a world where there's no money around, and
- 9:35therefore it's a very basic way of living.
- 9:39I don't have that. So how am I going to adopt their
- 9:42storyline? The answer is I watched them, I
- 9:45learned their story, and I say to myself, I want to be like
- 9:48that story. I want to be like that outcome
- 9:50more than I want to be like that.
- 9:52Source. Ultimately there are two maze
- 9:55main ways of inspiration. Following Hashem and watching
- 10:00God's ways and getting excited about what God does for you that
- 10:03triggers you to do more. Or following the people, the
- 10:07great people and saying to yourself, I want to be like them
- 10:10and that also triggers you to be more.
- 10:12You may not have their source of inspiration, but you do have a
- 10:16recognition and appreciation of what they've done for you that
- 10:19makes you excited. Now let's go on to 433.
- 10:31Are you clear? You can get excited about
- 10:32Hashem. You feel good about witnessing a
- 10:35great person how they lived. The problem is all of this
- 10:40requires focus and the greatest power and two of the it's that I
- 10:44has always been distraction. Ah, Mafsidah has to do to him
- 10:50how to adopt. Oh no, I got what takes us away
- 10:54from being a Hassid. I'm heavily inspired to follow
- 10:58Hashem and to give back to Hashem what He's done for me.
- 11:00I'm heavily inspired to be like that great man.
- 11:02I love that way of life. I want to be like him, right?
- 11:05That's what a role model is. Actually.
- 11:06Role model is the second point of view.
- 11:08But the problem is you need to focus and how issue is, it's
- 11:13very hard to be in that frame of mind to actually see that
- 11:18inspiration from God or see that inspiration from being like that
- 11:21great person, Kibiyut Hazaro Taroot.
- 11:24Our mind is very busy. Even if Baz Bidar Gotal Basaka,
- 11:29it's completely consumed and held by our worries and by our
- 11:33business. If Charlotte, if not, that's
- 11:36impossible, very difficult actually, while we're busy to
- 11:40turn to focus on this inspiration.
- 11:43You don't have the emotion to get inspired if you're busy.
- 11:46But if not, I'll let Vanut as a you cannot have this prophet
- 11:50Bonanut without having a clear mind.
- 11:53We believe Bonanut, Loya siga Hasidou.
- 11:56You know, a person, I know a person is very worried who's
- 11:59bogged down by 95 things going on in work, 100 things going on
- 12:03in his home. You can't think straight.
- 12:05You can't tell him he's inspired.
- 12:07He hears his speech, hears something, goes in one ear, out
- 12:10the other. Even if he's a spy at the
- 12:11moment, he's not driven by that inspiration.
- 12:14He definitely not going to be motivated to change his way of
- 12:17life, the way he's living based on inspiration.
- 12:19He needs to be with a mind that's absorbing the
- 12:23inspiration. How does the mind absorb it?
- 12:26Focusing on what? God different focusing.
- 12:29Focusing on other people that he wants to follow, his role
- 12:31models. You need that.
- 12:33You can't have that. There's no focus.
- 12:36You can't have that if I'm not in this world.
- 12:38So even though I can be heavily inspired and I'm ready to be
- 12:42heavily inspired, it's not the case if I'm not there.
- 12:45So the ultimate core trigger of inspiration before you actually
- 12:51get the trigger is being able to be aware, see what he's telling
- 12:55you is this. The real reality is it's
- 12:58actually very easy to be inspired.
- 13:00Thank you. It's very easily doable to
- 13:03develop and get motivated to do more.
- 13:06The problem is you need to be present.
- 13:08You need to be in this world and to be part of this world and
- 13:12you're not present if you're heavily, extremely worried and
- 13:15very nervous. Your mind is the main thing that
- 13:18gives you inspiration to be a mind is not here and your mind
- 13:21is worried. There's so many people out there
- 13:23that are living lives that can easily be triggered to develop,
- 13:26to grow, to become better. They know people around them.
- 13:29They have great parents, they have great role models, they
- 13:31have great rabbis, have a very clear frame of mind that they
- 13:35can follow very easily, and they'll be driven to follow
- 13:38those role models. But they don't even have role
- 13:40models 'cause they don't even notice the models.
- 13:43They're not there. This is what happens, he tells
- 13:45us, when a person gets too consumed by their worries.
- 13:49You don't think that worries stopped inspiration.
- 13:53We know worries stops you from growing.
- 13:55We know worries stops you from focus.
- 13:56He's telling you it stops you from your inspiration, as he's
- 13:58telling you, feeling that seagull car.
- 14:01And even if you are inspired, the mind gets completely
- 14:08consumed and you lose focus on your growth.
- 14:13Even if you're inspired and even if you're on your way, the fact
- 14:17that you're so warmer, it takes you down.
- 14:19Venom manihot Otto le tazek bera ubava.
- 14:24Without having a clear mind, you can't strengthen yourself to
- 14:28serve. I shouldn't love him at the
- 14:30fear. You can be a Hassi presence.
- 14:45Recognizing Hashem does not rest on a person if he is a smooth,
- 14:49which is a word for word as well.
- 14:57Another thing that stops you from being inspired, it not only
- 15:01worries the opposite. If you're too busy with enjoying
- 15:04this world as well, you also don't give yourself a chance to
- 15:07think. Keen to Him by Fatima Aleh
- 15:10because when you get too involved in all these different
- 15:14luxuries, you don't have a chance to think as well.
- 15:17Your mind is not there. The so the theme for today is 2
- 15:23points. 1 is another source of inspiration aside from focusing
- 15:29on Hashem's great gifts to you is following great people.
- 15:33You look, you learn, you copy, and you develop your motivation
- 15:38to be great. And then at the same time
- 15:42there's a major detraction detractor from being inspired,
- 15:45and that is not being present. You can learn from great people
- 15:48all you want. You can appreciate God's gifts
- 15:50all you want. If you're not here, they won't
- 15:53be absorbed. And if they're not absorbed,
- 15:55they won't develop and they won't get you inspired.
- 15:57Inspiration has to come into your mind, hate your heart and
- 15:59change you. It won't if you're not here now,
- 16:03just to focus on that. Rabbi Palmer Second, the role
- 16:06model point. The idea is you're inspired by
- 16:10watching their way of life, even though you don't know literally
- 16:15their inspiration itself. Which means you look at a
- 16:18person. We do this all the time.
- 16:20You look at somebody, say that person seems to be a beautiful
- 16:23existence. I like the way they're living.
- 16:25I don't know how they got there. I don't know what drives them,
- 16:29but I like the way of living. A role model is a combination of
- 16:33a person whom you feel like you want to be like done in their
- 16:37dedication to Hashem, being a good person.
- 16:39But also partially this, the reality, we have to admit this,
- 16:43it's partially the fact that we like the simplicity.
- 16:46We appreciate the beauty of their life as well.
- 16:49We're not just saying I want to be a good Jew when I see that
- 16:52great person. It's also the fact that you kind
- 16:54of see their life and say to yourself, I wish I had that.
- 16:58What do you wish you had? The simple apartment, right?
- 17:01Their basic life. You wish you had that.
- 17:04No, you wish you had a simplicity that was part of your
- 17:08life and that creates the role model element, which means the
- 17:11role model really is not just a person whom you want to be like
- 17:14them because of their dedication to Hashem.
- 17:16It's actually you want to be like the whole picture.
- 17:19There's a certain hand, there's certain simplicity, there's a
- 17:23certain beauty to their life these days of I wish I had that.
- 17:27That wishing is basically pulling you into an inspiration,
- 17:32even though you don't have their source, but you do have the
- 17:34copic. An element like myself when I
- 17:37went to Israel and I say to myself, I wish I could move into
- 17:39that old city. Do I really wish I could live in
- 17:42the old city and not have a car that can get to my home and not
- 17:46have? I can't imagine it's reality,
- 17:48but I do wish that I can adopt that level of simplicity and
- 17:52beauty and keep the shock. So that's really what role
- 17:54models do for you. They can't pull you in from
- 17:58their source of inspiration because that was theirs, not
- 18:01mine. And that got them to their
- 18:03level. And it won't get me to my level
- 18:05because I didn't see their inspiration.
- 18:07But I piggyback on their way of life.
- 18:11And that means I like their beauty, service of Hashem, but I
- 18:14also like the whole picture. I like their simplicity.
- 18:17I like their hand, I like their dedication.
- 18:20I like their way of life. I like their Shalom.
- 18:22I like them not getting bogged down by all the American things
- 18:25that we get bogged down with all the news and all the nonsense
- 18:28and all the competition and community issues and these
- 18:32things. I like the no tuition.
- 18:34I like the whole frame like you. The simplicity of their life.
- 18:37That's really do they didn't know all that garbage that's
- 18:40going on in the world. They don't know it, but they may
- 18:42have their own garbage. But Even so, politics in Israel
- 18:45from my vantage point, from my vantage point, that looks
- 18:49beautiful and that pulls me in, even though I don't have their
- 18:54original Pope. So you therefore have ordered me
- 18:57alive. Two sources of inspiration.
- 18:59You have your direct relationship with a chef that
- 19:01inspires you, but that gets you only so far.
- 19:05Then there's another one which basically allows you to start
- 19:07halfway in, allows you to jump without needing to fully
- 19:11develop, which is just a copycat concept, but a beautiful one,
- 19:14which says I like what they're doing, I want to be like them,
- 19:18even though I may not have their inspiration, their source of
- 19:21inspiration, but I do have a drive to live their life, this
- 19:24life. The same way when you look back
- 19:27at the old days and you say to yourself, if only I could have
- 19:31my parents way of life, my way of life as a kid, all those
- 19:35things. And it drives you.
- 19:37And it's a little bit of a sketch because that got them to
- 19:41their point. But we live in a different
- 19:43world. We're getting to a different
- 19:44point. We can't really develop in their
- 19:46way with our world. So instead we use a copycat
- 19:50mentality which drives us to be like them without their source.
- 19:54That's the same exact idea as a role model for us, a rabbi from
- 19:59the 1800s. Same story, tanto process,
- 20:02copycat idea to be like them without their drive.
- 20:05And combined with our own inspiration and our copy kind of
- 20:09inspiration, we can get ourselves further.
- 20:12The same way they tell, you know, yeshiva boys about
- 20:15learning a certain amount of hours a day like they did in the
- 20:17old days. And in the old days they had a
- 20:19horse and buggy. They had nothing going on.
- 20:21They had nothing in life in that sense.
- 20:23And therefore it was easier to lend their land on ours.
- 20:26Today it's harder, but that still drives them the same way
- 20:29they tell you, although the same way they tell you about certain
- 20:32people doing certain resed in a simple village world where there
- 20:36was a much more simple resed. And today this is more
- 20:40complicated. Or the fact that in the old
- 20:42days, people used to visit the Sycamore and today you're doing
- 20:45different types of resed, but you still want to be like them
- 20:48because you want to keep that way of life even though you may
- 20:51not have that same drive as they did.
- 20:53And that's how life goes. And hopefully that makes us the
- 20:57greatest form of ourselves. I'll stop with this.
