- 6:44recycling pickup on January 1, 2026. Starting
- 6:48in the new year, Circular Materials Ontario will
- 6:50take over Greater Napanee's blue and gray bin
- 6:53programs. MTERA Environmental will be collecting
- 6:55all recyclable materials. To help residents prepare
- 6:59for the transition, the Town is holding information
- 7:01sessions on October 23rd and November 4th from
- 7:046 p .m. to 730 p .m. at 99 Advance Avenue. These
- 7:08sessions will provide an opportunity to learn
- 7:10about the transition, how it may impact residents,
- 7:13and how related concerns will be addressed in
- 7:15the new year. Deputy Director of Environmental

- 7:20Andrew Girouard, spoke about the changes for
- 7:222026 and the possibility of more changes in the
- 7:25coming years. 2026, we shouldn't, residents should
- 7:29not see a change in their collection dates, the
- 7:32streams of recycling or what recyclables are
- 7:35collected. Beyond 2026, Circular Materials Ontario
- 7:39and MTERA can decide to change collection dates
- 7:43routes. streams, how it's collected, so on and
- 7:46so forth. CAO Matthew Grant explained the challenges
- 7:49staff are facing and how they're moving forward
- 7:51in the new year. There's going to be some change
- 7:54management challenges that will present themselves
- 7:58as this rolls out. One of the things that will
- 8:02be important for us is a pretty robust communications
- 8:05plan combined with a pretty significant advertising
- 8:09plan just to ensure that people understand what
- 8:14we are and are not responsible for. You know,
- 8:18we will need to make it clear for people what
- 8:20we are and are not able to do because I appreciate
- 8:23some people will be coming to us to maybe look
- 8:26for us to assist and make sense of this. And
- 8:31unfortunately, we won't be in that position.
- 8:35And so it'll just be really important that we
- 8:37be clear with people about where they can go
- 8:39for the right information, who is now in charge
- 8:43of this, you know, recycling more generally.
- 8:48And that work is already underway. You know,
- 8:51I will give kudos to the team. It's a bit of
- 8:55a moving target. But, you know, we're staying
- 8:59on top of the changes which have been numerous.
- 9:02Non -eligible sources such as industrial and
- 9:05commercial properties, not -for -profit organizations,
- 9:08municipal and government buildings, commercial
- 9:10farms, daycares, places of worship, campgrounds
- 9:13and trailer parks will no longer receive curbside
- 9:16collection. Residents who live in mixed, commercial
- 9:18and residential buildings will still receive
- 9:21curbside collection while the commercial section
- 9:23of the building will not. The town will still
- 9:25be responsible for collecting garbage. For Amherst
