Transcript
- 0:01Hey everybody, welcome to the good morning from the Chicken
- 0:04Coop podcast. My name is Kim Johnson and I am
- 0:07a mastermindset coach, creative strategist, and also happened to
- 0:10be a farmer. This is my chicken coop and I
- 0:12come out here every day to record a podcast to teach
- 0:16distinctions, possibilities, new ways of thinking, and just bring
- 0:20some joy into the world. So welcome to the coop and let's
- 0:23start your day off in a fantastic way.
- 0:27Hey everybody, good early morning.
- 0:29OK, so I want to tell you I found a few different types of
- 0:34caterpillars in my pollinator gardens and one on the lime tree
- 0:40that apparently they really like lime trees that are of
- 0:44butterflies that when they the caterpillars are actually
- 0:49formed, they look like poop. Yes, you heard me right.
- 0:52They look like poop. And they do that to protect
- 0:56themselves from predators eating them.
- 0:58So obviously nobody likes to eat poop unless of course, you're a
- 1:03dung beetle. And then of course you love poop
- 1:05and you look for it everywhere. So it got me.
- 1:08I was laughing about it and I was like, oh wow.
- 1:10It's funny how that translates over to people because there are
- 1:13some people who are like a dung beetle and they just like to eat
- 1:15poop all the time. And they think poop ways and
- 1:18they talk poop ways about themselves and other people.
- 1:21And they are the dung beetles among us.
- 1:24And it got me really like very entertaining for myself when I
- 1:28have these thoughts and it goes down the road.
- 1:30And of course, the whole thing started with, hey, listen, this,
- 1:34this particular creature was brilliant enough to, to evolve
- 1:38and make itself look like something that no one wanted to
- 1:41eat to protect itself. And then that got me further
- 1:44thinking because this is how my brain works.
- 1:45So this is how you're, you're getting insight into how my
- 1:49brain functions on things. I was like, that's very
- 1:52interesting. I wonder how many of the people
- 1:55among us that have morphed into that poop mindset of I'm going
- 2:01to put myself, I'm going to be very acid.
- 2:03I'm going to make myself repulsive.
- 2:06Are doing that because they are trying to protect themselves or
- 2:10are they just genuinely like they're just like that, You
- 2:14know, because I do believe and again, philosophical
- 2:17conversation this morning, I do believe there are people among
- 2:20us. Their soul is on a mission, and
- 2:22that mission is to be the the person who's the antagonist, the
- 2:27one that pushes us. And that's the only reason they
- 2:30come here. They volunteer for it.
- 2:32They come here and they're like, I'm going to go and be the
- 2:33antagonist. I'm going to go and have that
- 2:35experience. And because of that, that pushes
- 2:39us to grow. It's a very lovely thought and
- 2:42it makes me feel better about things in my world because hell,
- 2:45you know, when you start to really think about it, I don't
- 2:48want to believe that anybody's really that awful without a
- 2:50choice. I believe they made the choice
- 2:52and they come here with the intent that it's going to help,
- 2:55it's going to participate. Because without resistance,
- 2:58things can't, you know, grow. You have to like when you go in
- 3:02the gym, you've got to have resistance.
- 3:03You got to lift the weight. You can't just go and do the
- 3:05moves. You got to lift the weight and
- 3:06that hurts. So we have those people among
- 3:09us. I do believe that.
- 3:10But I also believe there are people here who are just they,
- 3:14they have turned that, you know, they've morphed into that poop,
- 3:18so to speak, because they're trying to protect themselves.
- 3:22They just want to figure out, how do I get to that point where
- 3:25I can become that butterfly? But I'm going to have to look
- 3:28like poop for a long time. And maybe that's where those of
- 3:33us who don't have that in our DNA wired into US have to say,
- 3:39OK, how can I be kind even though they're not?
- 3:42So I have an overriding belief system that when someone shows
- 3:47up a certain way, I'm going to, I'm going to do everything I can
- 3:50to be kind or kinder than I've even been.
- 3:54Because I have to look at where they are, not how they're
- 3:57showing up in the moment, but where they are in their path and
- 4:01saying, OK, this might be this, this might be this, now it might
- 4:05not be. And I might be wasting my time.
- 4:07I want to put that out there in a big way.
- 4:10I might be wasting my time because some people are just all
- 4:12right, you're committed to your outcome and I bless you and you
- 4:15can go on your way and that's fine.
- 4:17I'm OK pay with that, but what I'm not OK with is throwing the
- 4:22baby out with the bathwater too soon.
- 4:25And I have over the years learned with clients who have
- 4:28come in and who have been very, very challenging and not clients
- 4:32that like signed up for coaching, like with me.
- 4:35But when I was working for Tony Robbins, they would come in,
- 4:39their boss would sign them up and they'd be like, you have to
- 4:41go to coaching because their boss is trying to help them and
- 4:44they're putting them in coaching, thinking something's
- 4:45great. It's going to happen for them.
- 4:47And guess what? Those people, they don't want to
- 4:49be there. They're not ready to change.
- 4:51So they're going to be as difficult as possible.
- 4:54And you know what, that's OK. They're not ready to change.
- 4:57But oh, they have taught me that that doesn't mean I have to
- 5:01change. I'm I'm not going to change
- 5:05because somebody else is being the way they're being.
- 5:09If I'm going to change, it's going to be because I want to
- 5:11change, not because someone else is pushing it on me.
- 5:14So when you see the people that are the piece of poop, when
- 5:18they're disguised as poop, be kind and don't try to make a
- 5:22rash decision right away. Sometimes they are on that
- 5:25mission. And if that's true and they are
- 5:27on the mission, because I've had a relative like that and that
- 5:30was her mission, to be as acid from the day I knew her when I
- 5:34was little all the way till the day she died, to be as acid as
- 5:37she possibly could. And in the process of her doing
- 5:41that, she pushed a lot of people to grow and, and morph because
- 5:46of that. And I can believe that that was
- 5:49her mission. So I wished her well and I never
- 5:51wished her harm and I wished her well.
- 5:53I didn't have to interact with her, but I just did that.
- 5:56So food for thought today. When you see the poop, when
- 5:59you're out in the world and you see someone acting that way,
- 6:01maybe they just need to say, hmm, OK, I, I need a little more
- 6:06kindness. And you pick up on it because
- 6:09the, the way they look like poop is really a big deal.
- 6:12All right, my friends, I hope you have a blessed day and I
- 6:15will see you tomorrow. Bye.
