West Nile virus has been detected in Austin’s mosquito population for the first time this year, found in the 78733 zip code. While no human cases have been reported yet, officials warn the virus is now circulating. Last year saw 41 positive mosquito pools and 5 human cases — and warmer weather is fueling mosquito activity.
