Latest / The Next Round / The Next Round: Lincoln Riley, Deion, Belichick & Dabo Face Make-or-Break College Football Weekends | Hour 1
Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: All right, we start day one of 61 straight days
- 0:03Speaker 1: of football tonight. That includes the NFL, Steelers and Browns
- 0:08Speaker 1: coming up on Prime tonight.
- 0:11Speaker 2: Sneaky big game. I did not think this would be
- 0:13Speaker 2: that big.
- 0:14Speaker 3: I mean, two and one, two and one.
- 0:15Speaker 2: Two and one, two and one.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Later in the show when we talk about that game,
- 0:19Speaker 1: I also want to ask the question, how does the
- 0:22Speaker 1: career end for Aaron Rodgers? Right now, looks pretty good
- 0:25Speaker 1: through three weeks. We'll talk about that. I've got something
- 0:27Speaker 1: else on the Prime thing I want to bring up.
- 0:29Speaker 1: Help me remember that, please.
- 0:29Speaker 3: Okay, we got it.
- 0:30Speaker 1: A couple of college football games that if you're with
- 0:33Speaker 1: our friends at Hard Rock Bet could be interesting for
- 0:35Speaker 1: you a little bit later on. And let's see. White Sox, Yankees,
- 0:40Speaker 1: Padres all clinched yesterday.
- 0:42Speaker 2: They did.
- 0:43Speaker 3: Who didn't clinch yesterday? That would be the Atlanta Braves.
- 0:46Speaker 3: And I threaded the needle because you laid one and
- 0:48Speaker 3: a half runs. We had Philadelphia at Lance's lot. So
- 0:52Speaker 3: we will take the 4-3 win in extra innings. It
- 0:54Speaker 3: stayed under the seven and a half, too.
- 0:56Speaker 4: It did.
- 0:57Speaker 3: Oh.
- 0:58Speaker 1: Well, the Phillies tried to give that one away. I mean,
- 1:00Speaker 1: Bryce Harper missing a missing a fly ball in right field.
- 1:04Speaker 1: So we get a game three and there's nothing more
- 1:06Speaker 1: exciting than a deciding game.
- 1:08Speaker 2: Three at Philadelphia.
- 1:09Speaker 1: No, all the games are going to be in Atlanta, Philadelphia,
- 1:11Speaker 1: Atlanta tonight, seven o'clock NBC Braves fans. You get that
- 1:14Speaker 1: night game tonight.
- 1:16Speaker 3: It's crazy. I mean, the grind of 162 game schedule
- 1:20Speaker 3: and then how quick these seasons went. You know, the
- 1:22Speaker 3: Red Sox had such a terrible start. Then they find
- 1:25Speaker 3: their way back and have one of Major League's best
- 1:27Speaker 3: records after that 14-game under-500 start. And then before you
- 1:31Speaker 3: could blink, they get run out. The same with the Astros.
- 1:36Speaker 3: And then last night, the Cubs, the incredible year they had.
- 1:39Speaker 3: But Alex Bregman and PCA go a combined 0-15 with
- 1:43Speaker 3: eight strikeouts in two games.
- 1:46Speaker 2: I saw Chad Withrow, the show that's before us, on
- 1:49Speaker 2: social media, Hutton and Withrow, Chad was saying, It is
- 1:52Speaker 2: a crime that you can win your division in Major
- 1:55Speaker 2: League Baseball, and then it comes down to a three-game series. Yes. Like,
- 1:58Speaker 2: if you're a wild card, fine. You earn that spot.
- 2:01Speaker 2: But if you win your division and you still have
- 2:03Speaker 2: to do this? Yeah.
- 2:04Speaker 3: Yeah, it should at least be five.
- 2:06Speaker 2: I mean, it does feel like, I mean, I don't know.
- 2:10Speaker 3: I don't know what Major League Baseball is doing, Brown, because, like,
- 2:13Speaker 3: you know, we went and we sat at the bar
- 2:15Speaker 3: yesterday and wanting to watch. I was listening to White
- 2:19Speaker 3: Sox Astros. And when we sat down, wanted to put
- 2:21Speaker 3: it on, but it's on Peacock. And so, like, how
- 2:24Speaker 3: accessible are these games to your average fan?
- 2:27Speaker 1: I hate to tell people, but Peacock pops up on
- 2:31Speaker 1: NBC Sports as NBC Sports Network on YouTube TV. So
- 2:35Speaker 1: if you have YouTube TV, just fish down the line
- 2:37Speaker 1: and you see right there.
- 2:38Speaker 3: Tell this to a crunchy bartender that's got tats all
- 2:42Speaker 3: over it. Somebody just ordered a Long Island tea.
- 2:44Speaker 1: Well, I caught a little of the Braves Phillies, Phillies
- 2:47Speaker 1: Braves at Odie's in Homewood yesterday. I went by and
- 2:50Speaker 1: had a nice little sandwich and a cold beer. sitting
- 2:53Speaker 1: outside watching the Phillies Braves. I was having a great afternoon.
- 2:56Speaker 2: Time of your life. Yeah. I mean, I just, Withrow
- 2:59Speaker 2: makes a good point though. Chad makes a good point
- 3:00Speaker 2: that it feels weird. Here's why you can't do it though.
- 3:03Speaker 2: But you at least get all three at home is
- 3:05Speaker 2: what I was going to say. That's the trade-off for
- 3:07Speaker 2: being the division winner is, I know it sucks. You've
- 3:09Speaker 2: got to play a three-game series, but you at least
- 3:10Speaker 2: get them all at home.
- 3:11Speaker 1: But here's why you can't do it, because we've expanded
- 3:13Speaker 1: the playoffs. We have these other teams, these other four
- 3:16Speaker 1: teams that are just sitting there.
- 3:17Speaker 2: They are.
- 3:17Speaker 1: You can't sit there and rest those teams and get
- 3:21Speaker 1: out of sync for a best-of-five series. It's bad enough
- 3:23Speaker 1: with a best-of-three. My Tampa Bay Rays won't play again
- 3:26Speaker 1: until Saturday. They played Sunday. That's just out of your norm.
- 3:29Speaker 2: Because if you did a best-of-five, they would not play
- 3:31Speaker 2: probably until Monday. You would have to reserve Saturday and
- 3:33Speaker 2: Sunday for the ends of the best-of-five.
- 3:34Speaker 3: That's right.
- 3:35Speaker 1: So you're asking them to sit for an entire week, basically. Now,
- 3:38Speaker 1: as a fan, I'd love that because the Yankees' raise
- 3:41Speaker 1: starts Saturday night, prime time.
- 3:44Speaker 3: It's not a great college football Saturday night. It's not.
- 3:46Speaker 2: But it's still better than baseball.
- 3:47Speaker 5: It is.
- 3:49Speaker 3: There's a chance it'll make one of my big screens.
- 3:52Speaker 2: I mean, you're catching a break because this is a
- 3:54Speaker 2: pretty light primetime schedule.
- 3:57Speaker 3: I mean, the Dodgers will not find a TV on Saturday.
- 4:00Speaker 3: I mean, it just sucks. Well, I've become a bad fan.
- 4:03Speaker 2: What time do y'all start, Lance?
- 4:04Speaker 3: I've gotten spoiled with the Dodgers, 3 o'clock. Spoiled with
- 4:06Speaker 3: the Dodgers. Oh, well, that's the problem. I'm back on
- 4:08Speaker 3: the Lakers this year, but I haven't been a good fan.
- 4:10Speaker 2: No, but, I mean, 3 o'clock's the bad time for
- 4:12Speaker 2: them to be.
- 4:13Speaker 3: Oh, I know. That's where the good games are.
- 4:15Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, if you had a primetime first pitch,
- 4:17Speaker 2: you could make a case for it this week. You
- 4:19Speaker 2: could find at least a quad box for them. But
- 4:23Speaker 2: I tell you what, Braves fans have been really excited
- 4:25Speaker 2: about my projections this week. They love it when you
- 4:26Speaker 2: get involved on the show.
- 4:27Speaker 3: We've got a primetime game for them, too. We've got
- 4:29Speaker 3: a primetime game. But, I mean, I'm notorious in 17
- 4:33Speaker 3: years of.
- 4:35Speaker 2: Of starting a segment and never having an episode two, right? Yeah,
- 4:38Speaker 2: did we do Tell Me Something Good Tuesday this week?
- 4:41Speaker 3: We did not.
- 4:41Speaker 2: No, we missed that again?
- 4:42Speaker 3: How about Crash and Burn or Turn the Corner? Do
- 4:45Speaker 3: you remember that? I don't even remember us doing that.
- 4:47Speaker 2: Did we do that? I don't remember that. It had a.
- 4:49Speaker 3: Realistic car crash sound effect. Oh, yeah. So we even
- 4:53Speaker 3: did production for this. Crash and Burn or.
- 4:55Speaker 2: Turn the Corner.
- 4:55Speaker 1: Oh, we did production for Tell Me Something Good Tuesday.
- 4:57Speaker 2: Tell me something good! Yeah.
- 5:00Speaker 1: Where I thought on every Tuesday the world was so
- 5:03Speaker 1: negative we would just Do nothing but positives in that segment.
- 5:07Speaker 3: So episode one, pilot episode.
- 5:09Speaker 2: Okay, here we go. Let's see how we like this, Lance.
- 5:11Speaker 3: We get to grade it. Pilot episode. Tyler, hit the music.
- 5:16Speaker 3: Welcome in.
- 5:18Speaker 2: It is time for Righteous Jim Stone Locks. I'm a
- 5:26Speaker 2: fan so far. Let's see how this goes. Okay, okay.
- 5:30Speaker 3: Righteous Jim Stone Locke for the weekend. I've got no costume.
- 5:33Speaker 3: You know, I could. I can't say steal, but.
- 5:37Speaker 2: I could borrow a choir robe. Righteous Jim Stone Locke.
- 5:42Speaker 2: If you don't have that ready for next Thursday. Okay.
- 5:45Speaker 3: Phillies and Braves in a moment. That was apparently sack religious.
- 5:51Speaker 3: Quick to lightning. I think it's impossible for lightning to
- 5:54Speaker 3: hit right now.
- 5:55Speaker 2: We had an electrical surge in our headphones right after
- 5:58Speaker 2: Jim was talking about wearing a church robe for this.
- 6:00Speaker 2: We get reaction from Lance and Brown on all these
- 6:03Speaker 2: righteous Jim Stone locks today.
- 6:06Speaker 1: Maybe a play on the Phillies and Braves in a moment.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Stanford Wake Forest. Give me the over this weekend. Can
- 6:13Speaker 1: I get a hard rock bet total on that game?
- 6:16Speaker 1: I've got it at 53.5 right here. Maybe it is
- 6:19Speaker 1: adjusted a little bit on hard rock bet if you want.
- 6:21Speaker 2: To check that out.
- 6:21Speaker 3: I will check on hard rock bet. So we're talking
- 6:23Speaker 3: Stanford and Wake. Stanford and Wake.
- 6:25Speaker 2: That's where we're going to go for your first pick.
- 6:28Speaker 2: You build up, possibly, to Philly's Brave. Don't ever stop
- 6:31Speaker 2: the organ music during the Righteous Gemstone Live. Keep that
- 6:35Speaker 2: playing the entire time. All right.
- 6:39Speaker 3: And how many of these do we have? Just a
- 6:41Speaker 3: handful here.
- 6:42Speaker 2: I got 53 and a half at Hard Rock Bat
- 6:44Speaker 2: for Stanford and Wake. Give me the over here because
- 6:46Speaker 2: you know what Stanford and Wake Forest are? Horrible at tackling, Lance. Okay.
- 6:50Speaker 3: Some of the worst tackling teams in football. Give me
- 6:53Speaker 3: the over.
- 6:54Speaker 2: It's a Righteous Gemstone Lock.
- 6:57Speaker 3: Lock that one in. I'm told there are no player
- 7:02Speaker 3: totals yet.
- 7:03Speaker 2: But when we get to the weekend, I am comfortable
- 7:06Speaker 2: going up to over 150 yards for these two running backs.
- 7:11Speaker 2: Jaden Baugh for Florida, I'm comfortable going over 150. Whatever
- 7:15Speaker 2: the total is, if it's under 150, go over 150
- 7:19Speaker 2: on the player total for Baugh. And also, with Cam Cook,
- 7:23Speaker 2: West Virginia against Iowa State, I'm comfortable up to 150
- 7:27Speaker 2: yards on Cam Cook for West Virginia this weekend.
- 7:31Speaker 3: That's a righteous Jim Stone lot. Okay, not knowing what
- 7:35Speaker 3: the yardage numbers are for these two players.
- 7:37Speaker 2: I'm comfortable up to 150, so if it comes in
- 7:40Speaker 2: at 121.5. I haven't looked at it yet. I would
- 7:43Speaker 2: think that.
- 7:43Speaker 3: Baugh is, I mean, they're going to really lean on him,
- 7:46Speaker 3: but now you're starting to mix in... I mean, you're
- 7:50Speaker 3: sharing carries now.
- 7:52Speaker 2: Problem.
- 7:54Speaker 3: One big run.
- 7:54Speaker 2: One big run is what you need.
- 7:56Speaker 3: I'm comfortable up to 150.
- 7:57Speaker 1: So if it comes in at 149.5, play the over there.
- 8:01Speaker 1: That's a righteous gemstone lock. James Franklin, 3-1 all-time against
- 8:05Speaker 1: Pat Narduzzi.
- 8:06Speaker 2: That's a trend in our angle.
- 8:08Speaker 3: A little Friday night game. Not this time.
- 8:10Speaker 2: Give me Narduzzi, Pittsburgh.
- 8:13Speaker 3: They're the underdogs, right? Pitt is the other dog. Lock
- 8:17Speaker 3: it in. Give me Pitt to beat Virginia Tech.
- 8:20Speaker 2: At Hard Rock Bet, we have got Virginia Tech minus
- 8:23Speaker 2: the three.
- 8:24Speaker 3: You did not think I did any research on these, right?
- 8:27Speaker 3: Barely not.
- 8:28Speaker 2: Picked them out of the blue.
- 8:29Speaker 3: Gut feeling.
- 8:30Speaker 2: When you started with Stanford and Wake, I knew you
- 8:32Speaker 2: had not done much. Righteous Jim Stone lock number whatever
- 8:35Speaker 2: we're on. Deshaun Bishop's the running back at Tennessee. He is.
- 8:40Speaker 3: I have set a total for him in this game.
- 8:44Speaker 1: Okay, you have not given me that. We'll go into
- 8:46Speaker 1: a bunch of these totals in the next round part
- 8:48Speaker 1: of the show. I'm comfortable with Deshaun Bishop up to
- 8:51Speaker 1: 120 yards rushing this weekend.
- 8:52Speaker 2: Okay.
- 8:53Speaker 4: Okay.
- 9:01Speaker 3: I'm just telling you where that number, you know, and
- 9:04Speaker 3: this is just me on the fly factoring. I had
- 9:06Speaker 3: it at 68 and a half.
- 9:09Speaker 2: Wow.
- 9:09Speaker 3: I'm comfortable.
- 9:10Speaker 2: I'm comfortable with an over at 68 and a half.
- 9:13Speaker 2: That's another righteous. Uh, It's going to rain in Starkville,
- 9:18Speaker 2: I'm told.
- 9:18Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a good chance.
- 9:19Speaker 1: What is Hard Rock Bet with the total there?
- 9:21Speaker 3: Not team totals, but the total in the game between
- 9:23Speaker 3: Alabama and Mississippi State. It's touching 60. It kissed 60 earlier.
- 9:27Speaker 3: I got it at 59 and a half.
- 9:29Speaker 2: I've got Hard Rock Bet right now, Jimmy D. This
- 9:32Speaker 2: music owns me, by the way.
- 9:33Speaker 3: You know Alabama. You know who I think is going
- 9:35Speaker 3: to come out?
- 9:35Speaker 6: Who?
- 9:36Speaker 3: Our boy who we did a show with down at
- 9:39Speaker 3: the beach. Steve Powers? No, the— The other concert with
- 9:43Speaker 3: Coder's concert.
- 9:43Speaker 1: No, the guy that wears the choir robe on stage.
- 9:47Speaker 2: Oh!
- 9:47Speaker 3: The Broken Bones guy. Yeah, St.
- 9:49Speaker 2: Paul and the Broken Bones. He's coming out where? Oh,
- 9:51Speaker 2: for this?
- 9:52Speaker 3: Yeah, that's just his music.
- 9:53Speaker 2: He'd be crawling under the stage. Sixty and a half
- 9:56Speaker 2: Hard Rock Babs for your total.
- 9:57Speaker 3: Bama's got a great defense. I love this.
- 10:00Speaker 2: Take the over 16.5 between Mississippi State and Alabama.
- 10:04Speaker 3: A lot of points in the rain in that one.
- 10:06Speaker 2: Two more.
- 10:09Speaker 3: Miami and Clemson. I'm going to play this first half.
- 10:11Speaker 1: This makes you sound like a professional when you don't
- 10:13Speaker 1: play the whole game.
- 10:15Speaker 3: First half.
- 10:16Speaker 1: I'm going to take Clemson and the 9.5 points that
- 10:20Speaker 1: first half Clemson play there I think later on in
- 10:23Speaker 1: the game Miami pulls away Dabo has the choir the
- 10:27Speaker 1: choir and the crowd fired up Clemson keeps it close
- 10:30Speaker 1: first half I'll take nine and a half Clemson Dabo
- 10:33Speaker 1: five and two all-time versus Miami by the way oh wow.
- 10:37Speaker 3: And finally Phillies and Braves today.
- 10:40Speaker 2: Oh wait a minute so you've built all this up
- 10:42Speaker 2: to a Phillies Braves play where are you in this
- 10:45Speaker 2: series what is your record in this series.
- 10:47Speaker 3: Uh technically I'm two and oh i mean i i.
- 10:51Speaker 1: Pushed that number to one and a half yesterday but
- 10:54Speaker 1: i feel like they're not gonna let you cash that
- 10:56Speaker 1: ticket so they're not they're not technically you're not.
- 10:58Speaker 2: You have picked the proper winner i picked the proper winner.
- 11:01Speaker 3: I've already got a free play out on this at
- 11:03Speaker 3: lance's log.com so uh i am very interested to see
- 11:06Speaker 3: where you sit on this one.
- 11:08Speaker 1: I feel like with aaron nola pitching uh since i
- 11:13Speaker 1: think it's since july he's got almost a 2.0 era yeah.
- 11:18Speaker 3: That for the Braves. Phillies win today. Braves bats go cold.
- 11:22Speaker 2: Oh, no.
- 11:22Speaker 3: Phillies win today.
- 11:23Speaker 1: Phillies money line out of you? Phillies money line out
- 11:26Speaker 1: of me. That's my righteous gemstone locks.
- 11:30Speaker 3: Episode one. We'll see if episode two comes back. I mean,
- 11:34Speaker 3: a lot of times pilots don't get picked up. They don't.
- 11:36Speaker 2: They don't. They don't.
- 11:38Speaker 3: We're going to need feedback from the audience on this. Yeah.
- 11:42Speaker 3: Just the music. People love picks, though.
- 11:44Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 11:48Speaker 1: It's not, who's the trombone guy for Van Pelt?
- 11:52Speaker 3: I love him.
- 11:53Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 11:54Speaker 3: Trombone Shorty, I believe.
- 11:57Speaker 2: Terrific.
- 11:58Speaker 3: You got a free play out on the Phillies Braves?
- 12:01Speaker 2: I do.
- 12:02Speaker 3: Lanceslock.com?
- 12:03Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 12:03Speaker 1: You need to go to lanceslock.com to see the free play?
- 12:06Speaker 3: No, I can throw it out. I'm riding with the
- 12:08Speaker 3: righteous gemstone. I've got the Phillies as well.
- 12:11Speaker 2: Oh, no.
- 12:12Speaker 3: Does that bother you?
- 12:12Speaker 2: My gosh.
- 12:14Speaker 3: No, it doesn't.
- 12:15Speaker 2: Is that just a money line play? I gave you
- 12:17Speaker 2: 10 picks. There's a good chance I'm 1-9.
- 12:19Speaker 3: I mean, you're not going to go 0-10, right?
- 12:22Speaker 2: When would he do that?
- 12:25Speaker 1: Braves missed their chance yesterday, in my opinion, when they
- 12:28Speaker 1: were kicking it around and a couple opportunities, bases loaded.
- 12:32Speaker 3: Yeah, when Bryce misplayed that fly– That's when I thought
- 12:35Speaker 3: it was over. I thought the game was over, yeah.
- 12:37Speaker 3: Everybody watch the Odie's, too. And then three solo shots
- 12:41Speaker 3: to beat the Braves. That's got to be tough.
- 12:44Speaker 1: Night game over in Atlanta. Should be a lot of
- 12:47Speaker 1: fun tonight. Hey, you can play everything I was just
- 12:49Speaker 1: talking about right there at Hard Rock Bet. Hard Rock
- 12:53Speaker 1: Bet is Florida's only legal sportsbook and is, therefore, the
- 12:57Speaker 1: most trustworthy option in the market. Hard Rock Bet also
- 13:00Speaker 1: available in Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, New Jersey. Ohio, Tennessee,
- 13:06Speaker 1: or Virginia, this is the point I probably should tell
- 13:08Speaker 1: you that if you are playing the righteous Jim Stone locks,
- 13:10Speaker 1: do it for entertainment purposes only.
- 13:12Speaker 3: I'm not a professional. I'm not very good at predicting games.
- 13:15Speaker 2: Am I, Lance?
- 13:16Speaker 3: Not very good. Not very good.
- 13:18Speaker 1: Hard Rock Bet is ready, though, for all new features,
- 13:20Speaker 1: app updates, and promos. Hardrock.bet backslash clay. Hardrock.bet backslash clay.
- 13:26Speaker 1: And it's Thursday, so you can look out for some
- 13:28Speaker 1: same-game parlay profit boosts today for that Thursday night game
- 13:32Speaker 1: between the Steelers and the Browns. That can help you
- 13:34Speaker 1: out a lot. If you go online and check out
- 13:36Speaker 1: hardrock.bet backslash clay, hardrock.bet backslash clay, in that game tonight,
- 13:42Speaker 1: Steelers and Browns. The Steelers are rolling in at about
- 13:46Speaker 1: a two-and-a-half point favorites, where I saw it last when
- 13:48Speaker 1: I wrote that down on my sheet of paper.
- 13:49Speaker 3: Two-and-a-halves, right.
- 13:52Speaker 1: This Steelers team, with the way Aaron Rodgers is playing,
- 13:55Speaker 1: to me feels like a style of play that the
- 14:01Speaker 1: Steelers are very comfortable with. I can't see the Browns
- 14:04Speaker 1: being 3-1.
- 14:06Speaker 3: Can you? I do have a five-star on the side
- 14:12Speaker 3: of this one. Just a couple of things. Aaron Rodgers,
- 14:15Speaker 3: who's been playing football obviously forever, is going for another semi-milestone.
- 14:19Speaker 3: If he gets a win tonight, he will tie Tom
- 14:21Speaker 3: Brady with the most ever quarterback wins on a Thursday
- 14:24Speaker 3: night for whatever that's worth. He's got 13 right now. Pittsburgh,
- 14:28Speaker 3: this is pretty amazing. They are 0-9 on the road
- 14:32Speaker 3: versus AFC North teams on Thursday night. Four of those
- 14:35Speaker 3: losses to the Browns. Wow. Yeah. They have never beat
- 14:38Speaker 3: an AFC North team on a Thursday night for whatever
- 14:41Speaker 3: that's worth. The Browns, by the way, seven straight wins
- 14:46Speaker 3: on Thursday night. Wow.
- 14:48Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 14:48Speaker 1: Now, when you throw that stuff out, I try to
- 14:51Speaker 1: listen to you, and I'm like, oh, Lance likes this side.
- 14:53Speaker 1: Lance likes this side. But I mentioned some streak like
- 14:57Speaker 1: that yesterday. For instance, Todd Bowles, my coach with Tampa Bay.
- 15:00Speaker 1: 0-12 against the spread. Longest losing streak since the Super.
- 15:06Speaker 3: Bowl era began. That's hard to do. It's one thing
- 15:07Speaker 3: losing 12 straight, but losing 12 straight against the number.
- 15:10Speaker 2: That's right.
- 15:11Speaker 1: When everything gets adjusted. And now he's got a backup
- 15:13Speaker 1: quarterback against Green Bay this weekend. I forget what it
- 15:17Speaker 1: was yesterday. Lance was like, or you could say he's due.
- 15:20Speaker 1: But it feels like it goes to 0-13 this week
- 15:23Speaker 1: with Tampa Bay.
- 15:23Speaker 2: I remember last Thursday. J.
- 15:25Speaker 3: Love Daniels, by the way, and I said in the offseason,
- 15:28Speaker 3: kind of kidding around with how he played in the preseason,
- 15:30Speaker 3: this guy will get a start or two.
- 15:31Speaker 2: No, here he is.
- 15:32Speaker 3: He's getting one.
- 15:32Speaker 2: I remember last Thursday reading somewhere that Kevin Stefanski was
- 15:37Speaker 2: undefeated on Thursday night. and then he remained undefeated last Thursday.
- 15:41Speaker 3: He really did.
- 15:42Speaker 2: That Browns thing, it's an interesting stat that for some
- 15:46Speaker 2: reason Stefanski and the Browns with him couldn't win on Sundays,
- 15:50Speaker 2: but they couldn't lose on Thursdays.
- 15:51Speaker 3: But if you want the other side of this, Deshaun Watson,
- 15:54Speaker 3: who's been really good, 2-0 his last two games, four touchdowns,
- 15:57Speaker 3: no picks, he's 0-3 all-time against the Steelers, and he's
- 16:01Speaker 3: taken 18 sacks in those three games.
- 16:04Speaker 2: So, like, this is the old something's got to get.
- 16:06Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, I could spin it either way. If
- 16:07Speaker 3: I'm on, you know, a talk show in Portland right now,
- 16:10Speaker 3: and if I like, you know, Pittsburgh, I'm like, you know,
- 16:12Speaker 3: Deshaun Watson's 0 for 3, and he's taking 18 sacks
- 16:15Speaker 3: against his Pittsburgh defense. Can't figure it out.
- 16:18Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 16:18Speaker 3: But if I wanted to go to the other side.
- 16:19Speaker 3: I'll give out Browns.
- 16:20Speaker 2: If I'm giving.
- 16:21Speaker 3: Out the Browns, the Browns have won seven straight on Thursday.
- 16:24Speaker 3: This is in Des Moines. Pittsburgh has never beaten an
- 16:27Speaker 3: AFC North or 0 and 9 all time on the
- 16:30Speaker 3: road on a Thursday night.
- 16:32Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 16:33Speaker 3: I feel Pittsburgh tonight. Brown, you got a gut? I'm
- 16:37Speaker 3: with you.
- 16:38Speaker 2: It's hard to believe this Browns team is going to
- 16:40Speaker 2: be 3-1 to start the season. I mean, that is really,
- 16:42Speaker 2: really difficult for me to believe.
- 16:44Speaker 3: How does this end? I don't think either one of
- 16:46Speaker 3: these teams is good. The Patriots are really struggling, and
- 16:49Speaker 3: there's a little fodder out there that possibly Drake May
- 16:53Speaker 3: and Mike Vrabel have gotten a little sideways, and they
- 16:55Speaker 3: both had to do a little damage control yesterday.
- 16:57Speaker 2: I saw it on TikTok this morning. One of the
- 17:01Speaker 2: hosts up in Boston said, is saying Drake May is
- 17:05Speaker 2: trying to tell us through coded language that he does
- 17:08Speaker 2: not like his coach. So it's interesting you brought that
- 17:12Speaker 2: up because I saw him talking about it in Boston.
- 17:14Speaker 3: The reason I bring it up is Pittsburgh's one loss
- 17:16Speaker 3: was at the Patriots 20-3. They got completely dominated. They
- 17:20Speaker 3: could do nothing offensively. And that's a Patriots team that's
- 17:23Speaker 3: really struggling right now.
- 17:24Speaker 2: But apparently Orlovsky also. What did Drake May say? Do
- 17:27Speaker 2: you know exactly what he said? Because I haven't seen
- 17:28Speaker 2: what he said.
- 17:29Speaker 3: I have not seen what he said. But I did
- 17:31Speaker 3: see Vrabel say, hey, look, I had a lot of opportunities.
- 17:34Speaker 3: I came to New England because I wanted Drake May
- 17:35Speaker 3: to be my quarterback.
- 17:36Speaker 2: Yeah. But that's what they're saying at Boston Sports Talk
- 17:39Speaker 2: Radio is that Drake May is telling us through his words,
- 17:42Speaker 2: through coded language, that he is not happy with Mike Vrabel.
- 17:45Speaker 2: And then apparently Orlovsky also said something on ESPN. And
- 17:49Speaker 2: Dan said something that kind of went along those same lines,
- 17:53Speaker 2: so now everybody's saying Drake May is unhappy.
- 17:56Speaker 3: He ain't playing good, I tell you that.
- 17:59Speaker 1: Give me that Vrabel quote again because I will tell
- 18:02Speaker 1: you how I would respond to that.
- 18:04Speaker 3: Do you like your quarterback? Hey, look, I had plenty
- 18:07Speaker 3: of opportunities to go different places, take different jobs. I
- 18:10Speaker 3: came to New England because I wanted Drake May to
- 18:13Speaker 3: be my quarterback.
- 18:13Speaker 1: Didn't you say the same thing when you married your wife?
- 18:16Speaker 2: Holy crap, I didn't think you were going to go there.
- 18:19Speaker 2: Did you stand on a stage with a priest and
- 18:20Speaker 2: say the same thing?
- 18:22Speaker 3: Again, I can have options outside of certain situations.
- 18:25Speaker 2: I thought the same thing, but I didn't think you
- 18:28Speaker 2: would say it.
- 18:30Speaker 3: Anyway, I mean, don't you think some Boston guy on radio? Oh,
- 18:33Speaker 3: I'm sure. You'll be tuned in later today. This is
- 18:36Speaker 3: why they were pulling for the regular season to start
- 18:39Speaker 3: because that story has completely died down. It's completely dead.
- 18:43Speaker 3: My one guarantee is neither Pittsburgh nor Cleveland will be
- 18:46Speaker 3: in the postseason. So they can all be sitting at
- 18:48Speaker 3: two and one right now. But this is going to
- 18:50Speaker 3: be a Bengals or Ravens.
- 18:52Speaker 2: Baltimore is the best team in that division. I mean,
- 18:53Speaker 2: that's pretty obvious.
- 18:54Speaker 3: Yeah, they're just not a whole.
- 18:55Speaker 2: But now, Lamar Jackson did not practice yesterday, I do
- 18:59Speaker 2: not believe. So now his health seems in question. Though
- 19:02Speaker 2: he seemed fine at the end of that game. He
- 19:03Speaker 2: was running, sprinting down the field to celebrate with his
- 19:07Speaker 2: kicker at the end of that game.
- 19:08Speaker 1: So tell me, how does this end for Aaron Rodgers
- 19:11Speaker 1: this year? Does he drag them to the playoffs again?
- 19:14Speaker 3: I do not think he drags them to the playoffs.
- 19:16Speaker 3: I think it ends with.
- 19:19Speaker 3: A 7-10, 8-9 type season.
- 19:22Speaker 1: He has looked younger, though, these first three weeks. When
- 19:25Speaker 1: I see him, he looks better than any point last year.
- 19:28Speaker 3: I don't know. He's completing 58% of his passes, four touchdowns,
- 19:32Speaker 3: two picks. They're 2-1, but their wins were over the
- 19:35Speaker 3: Falcons with a backup quarterback by seven. And then last week,
- 19:39Speaker 3: they did beat the Bengals. So that was an impressive win.
- 19:42Speaker 2: Pretty good win.
- 19:43Speaker 3: And I had to sit next to a couple of
- 19:44Speaker 3: Pittsburgh fans at Buffalo Wild Wings. I thought I had
- 19:47Speaker 3: a bad mouth. My gosh. While the game was going on? Yeah,
- 19:51Speaker 3: and they won.
- 19:54Speaker 1: So it's Pittsburgh, a little two-and-a-half point favor tonight in Cleveland.
- 19:58Speaker 1: That kicks off the NFL weekend. We also have a
- 20:01Speaker 1: little college football tonight. Western Kentucky, New Mexico State, 7
- 20:04Speaker 1: o'clock on the CBS Sports Network. New Mexico State, the
- 20:08Speaker 1: 2.5-point home favorite there. And North Texas, a 1.5-point favorite
- 20:12Speaker 1: on the road at 3-1 Tulsa, 8 o'clock on ESPN.
- 20:15Speaker 3: That's a sneaky good game. Those were really, really difficult
- 20:18Speaker 3: against the number. I ended up staying away. Kind of
- 20:21Speaker 3: leading North Texas. I think North Texas got more talent,
- 20:24Speaker 3: but on the road to Tulsa, I don't know.
- 20:27Speaker 2: Before we get too far from the... Righteous Gemstones? Well, no,
- 20:30Speaker 2: that was excellent. I did enjoy that. From the Thursday
- 20:33Speaker 2: night game, Lance, did you see the Andrew Marchand... He's
- 20:37Speaker 2: a media guy. He covers the media, Andrew Marchand does.
- 20:40Speaker 2: I'm going to try to pull it up so I
- 20:40Speaker 2: can read it verbatim.
- 20:41Speaker 3: He's a media guy that covers the media?
- 20:42Speaker 4: No, no, no.
- 20:43Speaker 2: He covers it for The Athletic. Well, he is a
- 20:44Speaker 2: media guy, but he does cover the media for The Athletic.
- 20:46Speaker 2: And I was going to see if I could find it.
- 20:48Speaker 2: All right. So Andrew Marchand reports yesterday, Amazon re-signs Kirk
- 20:54Speaker 2: Herbstreit to call Thursday Night Football. So Kirk gets no
- 20:57Speaker 2: more off days ever. But the second part of it
- 21:00Speaker 2: was what caught my attention in this report from Andrew Marchand.
- 21:03Speaker 2: And he used to cover media for The New York Post.
- 21:05Speaker 2: This guy's done it a long time. That's right. But,
- 21:08Speaker 2: Andrew writes, the deal contains outs for a potential Sean
- 21:13Speaker 2: McVay run.
- 21:17Speaker 3: I knew you were going to go there. I really did.
- 21:18Speaker 3: I have not seen that report.
- 21:20Speaker 2: So Herbstreet signed a deal, but apparently there are outs
- 21:22Speaker 2: in the deal if they can get Sean McVay.
- 21:24Speaker 1: So Herb Street is like analysts in waiting if.
- 21:27Speaker 3: Sean McVay comes?
- 21:29Speaker 2: Placeholder? I don't know if they would do both. I
- 21:30Speaker 2: don't think he would do both of them.
- 21:32Speaker 3: How do you think Herb Street feels about that? Well,
- 21:33Speaker 3: I mean, he signed the deal. I would assume he
- 21:35Speaker 3: knew that.
- 21:36Speaker 2: Was in the deal.
- 21:37Speaker 1: Isn't he making $ 10. 5 just for doing that? I really
- 21:39Speaker 1: don't know the number. I think I remember. Wasn't that
- 21:42Speaker 1: prime deal $ 10. 5 extra million a year for Herb Street?
- 21:45Speaker 3: Yeah, I think McVay is kind of miserable.
- 21:48Speaker 2: Really?
- 21:48Speaker 3: He just hates losing so much.
- 21:51Speaker 2: God, he's done it twice already this year.
- 21:52Speaker 3: I know, and there's a good chance there's a third
- 21:55Speaker 3: coming up Sunday in Philadelphia.
- 21:56Speaker 1: I just don't think he can take it anymore. And
- 21:58Speaker 1: the whole Rams organization hate of losing. It's McVay, you, Stafford.
- 22:03Speaker 2: Right, yeah.
- 22:04Speaker 3: I think McVay does care a little bit more than me,
- 22:06Speaker 3: but outside of that.
- 22:08Speaker 2: Hey, but I just got to be honest with you,
- 22:11Speaker 2: and maybe I'm alone in this. Sean McVay is the
- 22:13Speaker 2: best coach in the NFL right now. Yes. So I'm
- 22:15Speaker 2: not alone in that, I know.
- 22:16Speaker 3: Sean McVay is the best coach in the NFL. Shanahan's
- 22:19Speaker 3: pretty good. Yeah, but Shanahan's never won a Super Bowl. Now,
- 22:24Speaker 3: if you look at him head-to-head, Shanahan dominates McVay, but
- 22:28Speaker 3: I'm just.
- 22:28Speaker 1: Saying full bodies of work. If you had the same health, players,
- 22:34Speaker 1: and it was just coaching, I'm not saying Shanahan is
- 22:37Speaker 1: better than McVay or McVay is better than Shanahan, but
- 22:39Speaker 1: I'd put those two. That would be 1A, 1B for me.
- 22:42Speaker 1: I mean, all time it's Andy Reid if you just
- 22:44Speaker 1: look at their full resume.
- 22:46Speaker 3: But, I mean, I'm just going.
- 22:47Speaker 2: With this one at a time.
- 22:47Speaker 3: And that's accomplishments.
- 22:49Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. But I will have to say this, when
- 22:52Speaker 2: Scott gives us Sean McVay audio, it hurts my ears. Like,
- 22:58Speaker 2: I can't imagine that guy doing a three-hour game on
- 23:00Speaker 2: Amazon Prime. That voice is not made for.
- 23:02Speaker 3: The voice isn't, but Collinsworth's voice is even worse.
- 23:06Speaker 2: I'm not saying he's great, yeah. But Sean McVay's voice,
- 23:08Speaker 2: I don't think, is made for that occupation.
- 23:10Speaker 3: I don't think he can keep the energy.
- 23:12Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 23:12Speaker 3: His energy is crazy.
- 23:14Speaker 1: We used to work with a guy that would turn
- 23:17Speaker 1: his bass... up a lot more and, uh, did classic
- 23:22Speaker 1: rock 99 for years and years.
- 23:23Speaker 2: Why are you talking to coded about Tony Curry? I
- 23:25Speaker 2: know that's who you're talking about. I mean, he turned
- 23:26Speaker 2: his voice, but Tony had a good radio voice. He did,
- 23:30Speaker 2: but he made it even deeper. We can adjust the
- 23:32Speaker 2: mics Jim. It's to me to make McVay a little deeper.
- 23:35Speaker 3: Great coach.
- 23:36Speaker 2: But anytime we play sound, like after a Rams game,
- 23:38Speaker 2: I'm like, God, that voice.
- 23:39Speaker 3: I think the reason they want him is just not
- 23:41Speaker 3: only the insight, but just how knowledgeable, like.
- 23:45Speaker 2: And he's young. You're getting young. He can do that
- 23:47Speaker 2: a long time.
- 23:47Speaker 3: They like the energy. The knowledge is crazy. Yeah, it's
- 23:51Speaker 3: the brain.
- 23:51Speaker 2: Yeah, but normally when you get those guys, you get
- 23:54Speaker 2: them when they're 65, and you've only got a good five,
- 23:56Speaker 2: six-year run with them.
- 23:57Speaker 3: Yeah, I think what's going to happen with McVay, in
- 24:00Speaker 3: my opinion, is he's going to go out with Stafford
- 24:01Speaker 3: this year, win or lose. I think he will go
- 24:04Speaker 3: into the broadcast booth. I think he will get sick
- 24:06Speaker 3: of that in a couple of years. And he'll come
- 24:08Speaker 3: back coaching, and it won't be for your team, and
- 24:09Speaker 3: you'll need every bit of it. But I don't know
- 24:11Speaker 3: if you all have noticed this, but Tony Romo has
- 24:13Speaker 3: just disappeared. CBS said, yeah, we're going to start the
- 24:15Speaker 3: year without Tony.
- 24:17Speaker 2: And when's the last time you've thought about Tony Romo? Like,
- 24:20Speaker 2: I would imagine you've seen him do his last game
- 24:22Speaker 2: for some years.
- 24:23Speaker 3: I think Romo got a little too comfortable. Like, Romo
- 24:26Speaker 3: early was good.
- 24:26Speaker 2: That's right.
- 24:27Speaker 3: And then it's like he got a little lazy or whatever.
- 24:29Speaker 2: And CBS was obviously looking for an out. And that
- 24:32Speaker 2: DUI gave them the out. And, boy, I mean, he has, like, disappeared.
- 24:36Speaker 3: Yeah, because if it was Tony Romo year one with
- 24:38Speaker 3: the DUI, he's calling games right now.
- 24:39Speaker 2: Correct, yes.
- 24:41Speaker 1: When we come back, we'll get into college football. All
- 24:44Speaker 1: those plays that we were talking about at hardrock.bet backslash
- 24:47Speaker 1: clay for the weekend. Clay's on the show in one hour.
- 24:51Speaker 1: Matt Wyatt talks to us from Starkville, Mississippi. on Alabama
- 24:55Speaker 1: and Mississippi State coming up at 12.30 Eastern, 11.30 Central
- 24:59Speaker 1: on our second part of At Next Round Live, At
- 25:02Speaker 1: Next Round Live on YouTube and all of our platforms.
- 25:05Speaker 1: 61 days of nonstop college football. How Tennessee, how the
- 25:09Speaker 1: Tennessee Volunteers can ruin a perfectly good Saturday in Knoxville.
- 25:16Speaker 1: We'll show you why when we come back on the
- 25:18Speaker 1: next round presented by Hard Rock Bets on Sporting State.
- 25:21Speaker 1: A little college football for you in just a second.
- 25:24Speaker 1: Some of the things that should or shouldn't be happening
- 25:28Speaker 1: on and around football programs. One of them that I
- 25:33Speaker 1: really do think Tennessee is ruining a really good Saturday
- 25:36Speaker 1: at Neyland Stadium, even though it may rain during the game.
- 25:39Speaker 1: The smoky gray uniforms are going to be worn this weekend.
- 25:43Speaker 1: As a fan who loves to see Auburn play these
- 25:46Speaker 1: traditional games against Florida and Tennessee, it's been a while
- 25:49Speaker 1: since Auburn has played at Neyland Stadium. And I would
- 25:53Speaker 1: like to see Tennessee in their white football pants and
- 25:56Speaker 1: that white helmet with the power T. But nope, they're
- 26:00Speaker 1: going to wear the smoky grays this weekend. And it's
- 26:03Speaker 1: just not a good looking uniform in my opinion. No,
- 26:06Speaker 1: orange is a tough color. But Tennessee does it right.
- 26:09Speaker 2: They do. And that orange and white uniform is just
- 26:11Speaker 2: a classic SEC uniform.
- 26:13Speaker 3: I just don't understand how you messed that up. Wasn't
- 26:15Speaker 3: it Lane Kiffin that originally messed it up? I know
- 26:18Speaker 3: he had the black. I know he had the black.
- 26:21Speaker 3: Here's the smoky gray.
- 26:22Speaker 2: Not a fan. It's just not a good look. No.
- 26:25Speaker 2: It's just not a good look. You've got such a
- 26:27Speaker 2: good uniform. Don't screw with it, man. It's a classic.
- 26:30Speaker 2: I know if you're an Alabama fan, you're like, I
- 26:31Speaker 2: hate that Tennessee orange. I get it. They're a rival, but.
- 26:35Speaker 2: You can't argue that it's just a historic classic uniform
- 26:37Speaker 2: in the SEC.
- 26:38Speaker 3: Look, Heupel's a good coach, and if I took over
- 26:41Speaker 3: one of these programs, I would go traditional uniforms, but
- 26:44Speaker 3: I don't think Heupel has a mirror. I mean, you
- 26:46Speaker 3: can look at him and see, right? I understand what
- 26:49Speaker 3: you're saying.
- 26:50Speaker 2: I understand.
- 26:50Speaker 3: I understand.
- 26:52Speaker 2: I just, I mean, there are certain schools, and I
- 26:54Speaker 2: don't know where I draw the line on this, that
- 26:56Speaker 2: never need to screw with their uniforms. I would say
- 26:59Speaker 2: probably there are 16 schools in the SEC. I would
- 27:01Speaker 2: say at least 8 to 10 have a uniform that
- 27:04Speaker 2: should never be touched. And there are some I'm like, yeah,
- 27:06Speaker 2: you don't have a ton of history. I don't really care. Yeah.
- 27:09Speaker 1: Well, Florida is able to mix and match a couple
- 27:11Speaker 1: really well. But this Tennessee great.
- 27:15Speaker 3: Just not a good look. Now, I do like that
- 27:16Speaker 3: star helmet now. Is that an ode to General Nealon?
- 27:19Speaker 3: Is that what the star is? I assume, because he
- 27:22Speaker 3: was a general.
- 27:23Speaker 2: He was a general. He was an actual general. I
- 27:24Speaker 2: don't know if he was a one-star.
- 27:25Speaker 3: Brooks says the whole uniform is.
- 27:27Speaker 2: Oh. Okay. All right.
- 27:28Speaker 3: Well, I mean, I respect General Nealon. Did they wear
- 27:30Speaker 3: gray back then, Brooks? Thank you for your service.
- 27:33Speaker 2: Yes.
- 27:33Speaker 3: No, they did not.
- 27:35Speaker 5: But I guess they do an annual smoky gray uniform
- 27:40Speaker 5: every year now, and they use this as an opportunity.
- 27:42Speaker 5: This is the 100th year since he became the head
- 27:44Speaker 5: coach at Tennessee in 1926.
- 27:48Speaker 3: It's the kneeling on the back of the helmet.
- 27:49Speaker 1: So it's the helmet that's him, the smoky grays for
- 27:51Speaker 1: the Smoky Mountains is where that color comes from. That's
- 27:54Speaker 1: Auburn in to play Tennessee this weekend. Our friends at
- 27:57Speaker 1: Crockett Coffee gets you going in the morning. We'll talk
- 27:59Speaker 1: more about that game in just a second. Clay Travis,
- 28:02Speaker 1: Buck Sexton, Buck's brother, Mason, they started the coffee that

- 28:58Speaker 1: Josh Heupel first, getting asked about the illegal onside kick
- 29:03Speaker 1: that worked last week against Texas.
- 29:06Speaker 3: Josh, what were you thinking, man?
- 29:08Speaker 7: Coach, just a comment on the onside kick. I know
- 29:11Speaker 7: it was kind of a situation where I think it
- 29:14Speaker 7: was illegal. Have you guys addressed that, and just how
- 29:17Speaker 7: has that been for the start.
- 29:18Speaker 6: Of the week? Yeah, that kick was actually run previously
- 29:22Speaker 6: inside of this league. We had had earlier communication with
- 29:26Speaker 6: the league as well.
- 29:27Speaker 3: We'll adjust to.
- 29:27Speaker 2: The new ruling.
- 29:29Speaker 3: New rule?
- 29:31Speaker 2: The ruling we got today as I was walking down here. Yeah,
- 29:34Speaker 2: I mean, it's not a new rule. He's acting as if, well,
- 29:37Speaker 2: why are we being singled out? Of course, I don't know.
- 29:40Speaker 2: if he even knew. What, that rule? Yeah. I would
- 29:43Speaker 2: assume no. He says it's been run in the league before. Well,
- 29:46Speaker 2: I think he's talking about a dropkick. In fact, I
- 29:48Speaker 2: think it was South Carolina that did it against Alabama, right?
- 29:51Speaker 2: I don't know if it was a dropkick. But South Carolina,
- 29:54Speaker 2: the onside kick two years ago in Tuscaloosa. So Alabama
- 29:59Speaker 2: had that game in hand, and South Carolina came storming back.
- 30:02Speaker 2: They recovered the onside kick, end up with a heave
- 30:05Speaker 2: into the end zone to win the game. I think
- 30:06Speaker 2: it was the same kick. I think that's what he's
- 30:08Speaker 2: talking about.
- 30:09Speaker 3: Really? Don't remember that. Don't either. There's touch the 35.
- 30:12Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 30:14Speaker 3: I'm pretty certain.
- 30:15Speaker 1: So if you drop it onto the 35, is that revealable?
- 30:18Speaker 1: If it misses, I can see green between the ball
- 30:20Speaker 1: and the white? I would think so.
- 30:22Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 30:23Speaker 2: I don't know. That's a good question. I don't know
- 30:24Speaker 2: if it's revealable or not, but. The rule says the
- 30:28Speaker 2: nose of the ball has to be touching the 35.
- 30:29Speaker 2: I do not believe this to be a new rule.
- 30:31Speaker 2: I think this is a rule that has been in
- 30:33Speaker 2: football for 100 years. But it's called the restraining line.
- 30:37Speaker 2: The rule doesn't say the 35 because with a penalty,
- 30:40Speaker 2: you could be kicking from the 30 or something like that.
- 30:43Speaker 3: Or back in the old days, we kicked from the 40s.
- 30:45Speaker 2: That's right, wherever it was. That's the restraining line.
- 30:47Speaker 1: Alex Golish is the head coach at Auburn. He's been
- 30:52Speaker 1: dealing with this staffer who has been arrested on felony
- 30:55Speaker 1: charges for pumping out information that was supposedly to be
- 31:00Speaker 1: private inside the Auburn organization from when he worked at Auburn.
- 31:04Speaker 1: Claims to be a Tennessee student now. It was recruiting-based.
- 31:09Speaker 1: Alex Goldish was asked about the Auburn former staffer yesterday.
- 31:12Speaker 3: Is it a distraction?
- 31:15Speaker 8: Literally no reaction. Taylor mentioned it. This ain't coach talk.
- 31:21Speaker 8: Couldn't care less. Focus is on Tennessee and And that's
- 31:25Speaker 8: a challenge to our team, too, right? Like, can we
- 31:26Speaker 8: just be focused on what the heck's important? And like
- 31:29Speaker 8: I talked about Monday, it truly is focused on Tennessee.
- 31:32Speaker 3: Let's ride.
- 31:33Speaker 8: Like, I shouldn't say I couldn't care less. I had
- 31:35Speaker 8: thought about it one second. When the original situation came up,
- 31:40Speaker 8: obviously had to make sure we dotted our I's and
- 31:42Speaker 8: crossed our T's. But we have it in place. Like,
- 31:46Speaker 8: there's nothing that I feel like, man, is going to
- 31:50Speaker 8: affect anything in terms of how it got out.
- 31:52Speaker 1: Yeah, so it's a non-factor for this game this weekend.
- 31:55Speaker 1: What is a factor is the quarterback. But I asked
- 31:57Speaker 1: you guys, who's got the quarterback advantage in this game
- 32:02Speaker 1: this weekend? And I will say this, that we did
- 32:06Speaker 1: ESPN's quarterback ranking yesterday. CBS had theirs out today, just
- 32:11Speaker 1: ranking the top 50 quarterbacks in college football, all classes,
- 32:15Speaker 1: not just the Power Four. And Byron Brown was not
- 32:19Speaker 1: in their top 50.
- 32:21Speaker 3: With that said, Byron Brown right now is the better quarterback. Now,
- 32:25Speaker 3: if you're projecting long-term, we care about Saturday. What about
- 32:29Speaker 3: Saturday's game? I would say that Byron Brown, with that experience,
- 32:32Speaker 3: is still the better quarterback. That's the quarterback I would
- 32:34Speaker 3: rather have.
- 32:35Speaker 2: Not that CBS is the Bible on this, but did
- 32:37Speaker 2: they have Faison Brennan in the top 50? Do you
- 32:39Speaker 2: happen to know?
- 32:40Speaker 3: Oh, I didn't look for Faison Brennan.
- 32:41Speaker 8: No, that's okay.
- 32:41Speaker 2: You don't have to. I mean, that's 50 guys.
- 32:43Speaker 3: Kids got a lot of upside.
- 32:44Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm just curious if they say Byron Brown isn't
- 32:46Speaker 2: in the top 50, but Faison Brennan is. And again,
- 32:48Speaker 2: that's one outlet's opinion. So it's not the gospel by
- 32:52Speaker 2: any stretch of the imagination. I think, given the choice,
- 32:55Speaker 2: and I can't even believe we're having this discussion right now,
- 32:57Speaker 2: if you go back to August with this discussion, you'd
- 33:00Speaker 2: have said, oh my gosh, what? Byron Brown or Faisal Brandon?
- 33:04Speaker 3: The for sure positive for Brandon, if you want to
- 33:06Speaker 3: go in that direction, is zero turnovers.
- 33:09Speaker 2: That's true. Seven touchdowns, no interception.
- 33:11Speaker 3: And so Byron Brown has been a little careless with
- 33:13Speaker 3: the football.
- 33:14Speaker 2: He certainly has. Yeah, you cannot deny that. It started
- 33:16Speaker 2: in the Baylor game, and it is, I guess, improved something.
- 33:19Speaker 2: He had three picks in the Baylor game, so... You'd
- 33:21Speaker 2: have to say it has improved, but it is still
- 33:23Speaker 2: a concern.
- 33:24Speaker 3: Yeah, I would have bet any amount of money that
- 33:26Speaker 3: Faison would have turned one over on Saturday against Texas.
- 33:28Speaker 1: Yeah, a true freshman playing against Texas in a big
- 33:31Speaker 1: game like that? Brandon also not in the top 50.
- 33:33Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't think Byron Brown has played his best football.
- 33:36Speaker 3: I mean, the problem is now the competition really ratchets
- 33:39Speaker 3: it up a little bit. He would have thought that
- 33:42Speaker 3: against Baylor, Southern Miss, he would have put up some
- 33:45Speaker 3: big numbers. I mean, I think he's been okay. A
- 33:49Speaker 3: little disappointing.
- 33:49Speaker 2: My concern for Byron Brown is Auburn's front communicating in
- 33:54Speaker 2: a hostile environment like this. Keep in mind, Auburn has
- 33:58Speaker 2: played a pretty good schedule with respect to what the
- 34:01Speaker 2: rest of the country is playing. Historically, it's not a
- 34:03Speaker 2: great schedule. But with respect to the rest of the country,
- 34:05Speaker 2: a pretty good schedule. You know the one thing Auburn
- 34:06Speaker 2: hasn't had to do yet? Go on the road.
- 34:09Speaker 3: True road game.
- 34:09Speaker 2: True road game. I mean, they played at Mercedes-Benz, which
- 34:12Speaker 2: is a de facto home game, a default home game.
- 34:15Speaker 2: And then they've played everything else in Jordan-Hare. This is
- 34:17Speaker 2: the first time they've had to go on the road.
- 34:18Speaker 2: Most teams are road-tested by now. Auburn is not. And
- 34:21Speaker 2: that offensive line has already been a problem. And that's
- 34:25Speaker 2: been a problem in friendly confines. And now you're asking
- 34:28Speaker 2: them to communicate, Lance, in one of the most difficult
- 34:30Speaker 2: stadiums in America.
- 34:31Speaker 3: You were talking about San Diego Padres. Do they have
- 34:34Speaker 3: the best home crowd in baseball right now? If they
- 34:36Speaker 3: would have lost Game 1 to the Cubs, they still
- 34:39Speaker 3: show up with those yellow towels in Game 2. The
- 34:41Speaker 3: atmosphere is incredible. I just wonder where Tennessee is going
- 34:44Speaker 3: to be after... all of that energy for that Texas game,
- 34:47Speaker 3: albeit an 11 o'clock game, now this is a 2.30,
- 34:49Speaker 3: are Tennessee fans still as excited as they were last week?
- 34:53Speaker 2: I mean, there's got to be some deflation there, but
- 34:55Speaker 2: I also think if I'm a Tennessee fan, I'm like,
- 34:57Speaker 2: we took the number one, although I don't feel this
- 35:00Speaker 2: way watching the game, we took the number one team
- 35:03Speaker 2: in the country to the last second. Now, I watched
- 35:06Speaker 2: that game, and it didn't feel like they took the
- 35:08Speaker 2: number one team in the country to the last second.
- 35:09Speaker 2: I don't know about you guys. Technically, they did. I mean,
- 35:13Speaker 2: they've got ball in hand with a chance to score
- 35:15Speaker 2: and tie the game up, right? Yeah, one of those
- 35:17Speaker 2: was a word about the offense. One of those was
- 35:19Speaker 2: a special team.
- 35:20Speaker 1: Then one of them was sort of a late touchdown
- 35:22Speaker 1: when you were going against them.
- 35:23Speaker 3: Offensively, they weren't doing anything.
- 35:25Speaker 2: They were not. So I didn't watch that game and
- 35:27Speaker 2: feel like, you know what? Tennessee challenged Texas as much
- 35:30Speaker 2: as anybody has. But the score told you you did,
- 35:32Speaker 2: and you're there at the end of the game watching
- 35:34Speaker 2: Tennessee with ball in hand and a chance to do something.
- 35:36Speaker 2: Keep in mind, if you're playing this game at Hard
- 35:39Speaker 2: Rock Bet, Wendell Moe, starting left guard for Tennessee, not
- 35:44Speaker 2: expected to play.
- 35:45Speaker 3: In this game. So he is likely out.
- 35:49Speaker 1: And he's the starter at left guard there, a pretty
- 35:50Speaker 1: important part of that Tennessee offensive line, as Auburn tries
- 35:54Speaker 1: to go up and get a road win at Tennessee
- 35:58Speaker 1: this weekend. Another big game, upset alert possibility with Florida,
- 36:04Speaker 1: red hot, everybody's talking point, on the road in Como
- 36:08Speaker 1: to play Missouri. Here's Eli Drinkwitz, cut 13 if you can, Tyler.
- 36:14Speaker 1: Eli talking about trying to bounce back after their loss
- 36:18Speaker 1: in Starkville against Red Hot Mississippi State.
- 36:22Speaker 4: What do you need to see from your team this
- 36:23Speaker 4: week in the response to that first loss?
- 36:25Speaker 2: Yeah, I got to bounce back.
- 36:27Speaker 3: I think.
- 36:28Speaker 4: This day and age, you know, everybody wants to have
- 36:31Speaker 4: we want to be really quick to write people off
- 36:33Speaker 4: and write chapters of a story or finality or obituaries
- 36:38Speaker 4: or whatever.
- 36:39Speaker 3: You want to say based off of one thing. But
- 36:41Speaker 3: seasons are long seasons and.
- 36:44Speaker 4: Uh, you know, it's not always going to go your way. Uh, again, the,
- 36:48Speaker 4: the tail of the tape for us was a slow
- 36:50Speaker 4: start and a slow finish in between. I thought the
- 36:53Speaker 4: fight was tremendous. I thought the way our guys battled
- 36:56Speaker 4: stayed together was good. It's just, wasn't good enough execution
- 37:00Speaker 4: in the fourth quarter. I've been proud of the way
- 37:01Speaker 4: they respond now. I mean, this is a really, really
- 37:05Speaker 4: good football team we got coming in here. So we
- 37:07Speaker 4: got to speed up the response and we got to
- 37:08Speaker 4: have a bounce back factor for sure.
- 37:10Speaker 1: Sadly for him, it's been a bad PR week for Missouri.
- 37:13Speaker 1: They need this win pretty bad on the PR side
- 37:16Speaker 1: of this.
- 37:16Speaker 2: Yeah, I would agree.
- 37:17Speaker 3: Austin Simmons playing good football, but this defense that was
- 37:20Speaker 3: so good last year, 51 plays of 10-plus yards. That
- 37:24Speaker 3: is the worst in the SEC. They gave up right
- 37:26Speaker 3: at 500 yards last week to Mississippi State. They're going
- 37:29Speaker 3: to have to clean it up against this Florida offense
- 37:31Speaker 3: that is clicking on all cylinders.
- 37:32Speaker 2: I just feel like, though, I got a sneaking suspicion
- 37:36Speaker 2: Lance is right and is upset that Missouri wins this game.
- 37:38Speaker 2: Florida's the better team.
- 37:39Speaker 3: Yes, no doubt.
- 37:40Speaker 2: Better team doesn't always win on a given Saturday. And
- 37:43Speaker 2: I think that I'm just starting to feel, and we've
- 37:46Speaker 2: only played one month of this, two more to go,
- 37:49Speaker 2: starting to feel like that's the way this SEC is
- 37:51Speaker 2: going to go this year. As soon as you think
- 37:53Speaker 2: you've got a team figured out, they get a puzzling loss.
- 37:55Speaker 3: Yeah, and this is a manhood game. for Missouri back
- 37:59Speaker 3: to everybody talking about look you guys have been ranked
- 38:02Speaker 3: 31 of the last 39 polls but you're one and
- 38:03Speaker 3: nine against ranked teams you don't deserve to be there
- 38:05Speaker 3: what are people thinking you know Eli Drinkwitz has got
- 38:08Speaker 3: to be able to.
- 38:09Speaker 2: Flip this like you tell me Florida beats Ole Miss
- 38:12Speaker 2: loses at Missouri can see it you tell me Allah
- 38:14Speaker 2: and I'm not predicting this I'm just saying if this
- 38:16Speaker 2: happened Alabama loses at State Saturday turns around to beats
- 38:19Speaker 2: Georgia could totally see that happening Oklahoma gets embarrassed that
- 38:23Speaker 2: Georgia beats Texas next week. I could totally see that.
- 38:25Speaker 3: I mean, it's the NFL. This is where we are.
- 38:27Speaker 3: That's what the SEC has come to.
- 38:29Speaker 2: That's why my gut tells me Missouri wins this game,
- 38:32Speaker 2: even though they never win these types of games under
- 38:34Speaker 2: Eli Drinkwitz.
- 38:34Speaker 1: And that's what was huge for Texas last week because
- 38:36Speaker 1: it was a big win on the road in the SEC,
- 38:40Speaker 1: which is a little bit more difficult. That was big
- 38:42Speaker 1: for Texas. We'll see if Florida can do what they
- 38:44Speaker 1: can do on the road at Missouri coming up this weekend.
- 38:48Speaker 1: More on the SEC next. coming up a little bit
- 38:50Speaker 1: later on. But when we come back, there are, let
- 38:53Speaker 1: me see, I got one, I got two, I got three,
- 38:56Speaker 1: I got four, I got five coaches who arguably could
- 39:01Speaker 1: all not be back at their job next year who
- 39:04Speaker 1: have a chance this weekend for a sort of storyline-turning win. Now,
- 39:10Speaker 1: they're all underdogs, but they're, well, four of the five
- 39:13Speaker 1: are underdogs, but there's a chance to flip the script
- 39:16Speaker 1: this weekend for these five coaches who We'll walk through
- 39:19Speaker 1: the process and who they are when we come back
- 39:21Speaker 1: in the next round presented by Hard Rock Bets on
- 39:23Speaker 1: Sporting State.
- 39:25Speaker 3: All right, back with you on the next round.
- 39:28Speaker 1: Hard Rock Bets, Sporting State.
- 39:29Speaker 3: All of our relationships here.
- 39:31Speaker 1: You know, we talk bad things about the NIL world
- 39:35Speaker 1: of college football all the time.
- 39:37Speaker 3: Here's the good thing.
- 39:38Speaker 1: Josh Ford, Alabama tight end who made that catch this
- 39:41Speaker 1: past weekend, it's good that you.
- 39:43Speaker 3: Can make money.
- 39:44Speaker 1: This is real name, image, and likeness right here. J &
- 39:46Speaker 1: J Apparel. quickly with the t-shirts out josh is able
- 39:51Speaker 1: to make money off of that image there if you
- 39:53Speaker 1: want to remember that catch in the back of the
- 39:55Speaker 1: end zone and go buy that t-shirt that one moment
- 39:58Speaker 1: in time t-shirt there for that catch good for good
- 40:01Speaker 1: i mean that's name image and likeness i mean i
- 40:03Speaker 1: don't think anybody's ever going to buy it yeah.
- 40:05Speaker 2: I mean i don't know how many people are going
- 40:06Speaker 2: to have those but i think that is what i
- 40:08Speaker 2: thought name and image and likeness would i did too
- 40:10Speaker 2: yeah so if.
- 40:11Speaker 3: I had a free one You guys don't want them?
- 40:15Speaker 3: I don't have them. I was going to say, I'll
- 40:16Speaker 3: gift it to somebody. J & J and Peril there.
- 40:19Speaker 1: But I thought that was pretty cool because they used
- 40:21Speaker 1: to sell jerseys with no name on the back and
- 40:24Speaker 1: nobody got any money.
- 40:25Speaker 3: At all back in the day. That catch to beat Georgia?
- 40:28Speaker 3: He'll sell the shit out of them. That catch and
- 40:32Speaker 3: a blowout win over South Carolina? Not so much.
- 40:34Speaker 2: Give me one more, Josh. One more catch.
- 40:36Speaker 3: It is a great catch. Did I miss it?
- 40:39Speaker 1: I don't watch the pregame shows on Sunday like I
- 40:41Speaker 1: used to. Did Is that a You Got Mossed moment?
- 40:45Speaker 3: They still do You Got Mossed. It was on Monday night,
- 40:47Speaker 3: but I think it's on Sunday now.
- 40:49Speaker 2: Oh, is it?
- 40:50Speaker 3: I think so. You Got Mossed.
- 40:52Speaker 1: Let me know in the chat if they did that
- 40:54Speaker 1: in the You Got Mossed segment this past week.
- 40:56Speaker 3: That was a cool segment. I used to like it
- 40:57Speaker 3: when Randy did that.
- 40:57Speaker 2: Me too.
- 40:58Speaker 3: Me too, right there. Randy was pretty entertaining.
- 41:00Speaker 1: Tell us about our friends at Perfect 10 Mortgage.
- 41:02Speaker 3: What's right there in the name, Jim?
- 41:03Speaker 2: Did we lose Randy? No, I'm just saying. Now, he
- 41:06Speaker 2: had the eye situation, remember? He had to leave for
- 41:09Speaker 2: a little bit. I haven't watched Monday Night Countdown this year,
- 41:12Speaker 2: so I don't know if he's back on or not.
- 41:14Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know.
- 41:16Speaker 2: He is back on. Okay, good, good. I have not
- 41:19Speaker 2: watched it this year. We're only three weeks in, and

- 42:27Speaker 2: everybody's out on Greg Sciano at Rutgers. Here comes Indiana
- 42:30Speaker 2: this weekend.
- 42:31Speaker 1: I got five coaches that can flip the script on
- 42:33Speaker 1: their storyline. Any chance Rutgers can put up the fight
- 42:37Speaker 1: they put up against USC? 7 o'clock Central, 8 o'clock Eastern,
- 42:41Speaker 1: primetime Big Ten Network.
- 42:43Speaker 3: Zero chance. Zero chance. Brownie?
- 42:46Speaker 2: I will say no chance. I think Indiana gets their
- 42:49Speaker 2: upset next week. Okay.
- 42:50Speaker 1: Shiano not changing the storyline.
- 42:52Speaker 2: Still in the doghouse.
- 42:54Speaker 3: Just for what it's worth, again, Trent and or Engel,
- 42:57Speaker 3: three straight Rutgers wins versus Indiana. Now they haven't played
- 43:00Speaker 3: since Signetti.
- 43:01Speaker 2: Took it over.
- 43:02Speaker 3: That's old school Indiana. That's PC pre-Signetti.
- 43:05Speaker 2: That's right.
- 43:06Speaker 1: Washington on the road at USC. Washington has won three
- 43:11Speaker 1: straight in this series. Uh, Everybody seemed to be packing
- 43:16Speaker 1: Lincoln Riley's bags after the loss this weekend. But I
- 43:19Speaker 1: would say back in August, we didn't really expect USC
- 43:23Speaker 1: to be unbeaten. We probably said, OK, if they lose
- 43:27Speaker 1: to Oregon, they can still be a playoff team.
- 43:29Speaker 3: But here comes Washington. Pretty important game. Yeah, I think
- 43:31Speaker 3: the problem is what you're looking at with Gary Patterson's defense.
- 43:34Speaker 3: They've given up. 35 to Louisiana, then 35 to Rutgers,
- 43:38Speaker 3: then 41, a season high last week to Oregon. You
- 43:41Speaker 3: had a 7-3 lead when Dante Moore gets knocked out
- 43:43Speaker 3: of the game and you get beat by a backup quarterback.
- 43:46Speaker 3: That's been the problem this week for Lincoln Riley and
- 43:48Speaker 3: the way the entire team reacted and just the sideline
- 43:54Speaker 3: behavior from USC. Washington hasn't been able to run the football.
- 43:59Speaker 3: DeMond Williams is taking unnecessary hits. Seven sacks against Minnesota.
- 44:03Speaker 3: Washington's been one of the most disappointing teams. Now, if
- 44:06Speaker 3: they turn around and beat USC... All that's flushed. Well,
- 44:10Speaker 3: that moniker then is on USC. That's your upset alert.
- 44:13Speaker 2: It is.
- 44:13Speaker 1: But if Lincoln Riley wins this game... They sort of
- 44:16Speaker 1: are where I thought they would be back in August.
- 44:19Speaker 1: They are just some bad PR. Why is everybody out
- 44:20Speaker 1: on Lincoln Riley? It's a big opportunity for him.
- 44:23Speaker 2: Well, because of just the look in the Oregon game. Like,
- 44:25Speaker 2: if they had lost in overtime to Oregon and then
- 44:27Speaker 2: won this game, I think USC fans would be like,
- 44:29Speaker 2: you could flush it. Yeah, you could. You could get
- 44:31Speaker 2: past it. But the fact that he lost that game
- 44:35Speaker 2: to a backup quarterback who played for an entire half,
- 44:37Speaker 2: not like two drives. The look with his player after
- 44:41Speaker 2: the penalty and all of that. And then, Lance, they
- 44:42Speaker 2: lost by two scores. Yeah, that was a– I mean,
- 44:45Speaker 2: that's a two-score defeat on your own field.
- 44:48Speaker 3: Yeah, not only are you up when Dante Moore goes out,
- 44:50Speaker 3: you tie it up 27 apiece in the fourth. You
- 44:53Speaker 3: end up losing by 14. Not only do you give
- 44:55Speaker 3: up the most points you've given up all year in 41,
- 44:57Speaker 3: you score the least amount of points you've scored all
- 45:00Speaker 3: year in 27. So I think all that coming together,
- 45:02Speaker 3: sold-out crowd, SC saying this was a signature game for
- 45:06Speaker 3: Lincoln Riley, not being able to get it done. Yep. Boy,
- 45:09Speaker 3: if they were to lose this game, they're counting money already.
- 45:12Speaker 2: Wolves at the door now.
- 45:13Speaker 3: Flip it around with Lincoln Riley.
- 45:15Speaker 1: Deion Sanders changing quarterbacks at home in Boulder. Here comes
- 45:20Speaker 1: Texas Tech. Primetime window on Maine Fox. A Deion Sanders win.
- 45:27Speaker 1: And maybe the storyline flips a little bit on Deion Sanders'
- 45:30Speaker 1: future at Colorado and what he can do there.
- 45:33Speaker 3: Well, I'll be interested to see what Isaac Wilson can
- 45:35Speaker 3: do because the fact of the matter is the Buffaloes
- 45:38Speaker 3: have not scored more than 25 against a power four
- 45:40Speaker 3: since November of 24. It's almost been two years since
- 45:44Speaker 3: they've scored 25, which is not a high mark. On
- 45:47Speaker 3: the other side, though, Joey McGuire, and this is flipped
- 45:50Speaker 3: around a little bit with NIL, but in true road
- 45:53Speaker 3: games at Texas Tech, he's coached in 22 of them.
- 45:56Speaker 3: What do you think his record, true road games, 22
- 45:58Speaker 3: games for Joey McGuire? 11 and 11. 11 and 11
- 46:03Speaker 3: is the number. Hard to win on the road. I
- 46:05Speaker 3: was going to say a little higher.
- 46:06Speaker 2: Yeah, and that's considering they went undefeated last year.
- 46:09Speaker 3: Well, and two years ago when Colorado had that special
- 46:12Speaker 3: nine-win season, they beat Texas Tech by double digits.
- 46:15Speaker 2: Well, Colorado has to have this win. These three games
- 46:18Speaker 2: for them are just absolutely brutal. They've got Texas Tech,
- 46:21Speaker 2: they host Utah, and then they're at surprising Oklahoma State.
- 46:25Speaker 2: I mean, there's a better chance they're 0-3 than anything else.
- 46:28Speaker 2: That's your most likely outcome in that one.
- 46:30Speaker 3: I'd be shocked if Texas Tech was to lose this
- 46:32Speaker 3: game in Boulder.
- 46:33Speaker 2: I would, too. But, I mean, they're about to go
- 46:36Speaker 2: probably on a five-game losing streak here, Dunaway, and you're
- 46:39Speaker 2: talking about changing narratives. That's only going to solidify the
- 46:43Speaker 2: Deion narrative.
- 46:44Speaker 3: But it's only 13.5 points, and we will have multiple
- 46:46Speaker 3: two-touchdown dogs that will win outright this weekend.
- 46:49Speaker 1: Everybody has started to plan for the future at North
- 46:52Speaker 1: Carolina after Bill Belichick. But here comes Notre Dame this week.
- 46:58Speaker 1: Notre Dame and North Carolina. right there in Chapel Hill.
- 47:02Speaker 1: That is your right out of game day, 11 a.m.,
- 47:06Speaker 1: 12 Eastern game, Notre Dame and UNC. Boy, Bill Belichick's
- 47:11Speaker 1: team looks really different if they shock the world against
- 47:13Speaker 1: the Irish this weekend.
- 47:14Speaker 3: Well, he's only coached in one ranked matchup or against
- 47:18Speaker 3: one ranked team since he's been at Carolina. That was
- 47:21Speaker 3: a 17-16 overtime loss to Virginia. Right now, Notre Dame
- 47:25Speaker 3: can't run the football. I mean, they have yet to
- 47:27Speaker 3: rush for 180-plus. It hadn't mattered. because they've completely dominated
- 47:31Speaker 3: their opponents. But, you know, going into the season, one
- 47:33Speaker 3: of the big question marks, Jeremiah Love, Jadarian Price, those
- 47:35Speaker 3: guys are gone. How consistently can you run the football
- 47:38Speaker 3: with a really good quarterback in C.J.
- 47:40Speaker 2: Carr?
- 47:41Speaker 3: Carolina can get after the quarterback. That Xavier Lewis kid's
- 47:44Speaker 3: already got six sacks, third in the FBS, can't run
- 47:47Speaker 3: the football, it puts pressure on C.J. Carr. I think
- 47:51Speaker 3: this game could be a little interesting. I really do.
- 47:53Speaker 3: I've got a gut feeling it could be really fun, too.
- 47:55Speaker 2: Did you just tell me that Bill Belichick has coached
- 47:58Speaker 2: 15 games at North Carolina?
- 48:00Speaker 3: That's the ACC.
- 48:02Speaker 2: Only one of them is against a ranked team.
- 48:03Speaker 3: And it was Virginia.
- 48:04Speaker 2: Yeah, it was Virginia.
- 48:05Speaker 3: It could have been too highly ranked at that moment.
- 48:08Speaker 2: That's pretty remarkable that you could go 15 games in
- 48:10Speaker 2: a power conference, quote-unquote power conference, and only coach against
- 48:14Speaker 2: one ranked team. Yeah.
- 48:16Speaker 3: And North Carolina, as a program, they've played 28 games
- 48:19Speaker 3: against ranked teams. top three teams.
- 48:21Speaker 2: What do you think the longest string versus unranked will
- 48:24Speaker 2: be in the SEC this year?
- 48:25Speaker 8: Two?
- 48:26Speaker 2: Two weeks, yeah.
- 48:27Speaker 3: Two weeks in conference. Oh, in conference.
- 48:29Speaker 2: It may not be more than one, but if you
- 48:32Speaker 2: even factor in the out-of-conference, there's some that'll be three
- 48:34Speaker 2: because their out-of-conference sucks so bad.
- 48:36Speaker 3: Yeah, per ESPN, though, 28 games, North Carolina's played against
- 48:40Speaker 3: top three teams Opponents in the history of their program.
- 48:43Speaker 3: What do you think the record is? 28 against top three.
- 48:45Speaker 2: So I remember the olds will remember this when, uh,
- 48:48Speaker 2: Mack Brown was the coach at North Carolina before he
- 48:50Speaker 2: ever went to Texas. Bobby Bowden was running the ACC
- 48:52Speaker 2: with Florida state and every year they would play North Carolina.
- 48:55Speaker 2: And every year they'd be like, cause North Carolina, it's
- 48:57Speaker 2: Carl Torbush was the defensive coordinator that had this great defense.
- 49:00Speaker 2: They couldn't really score a lot, but they had a
- 49:01Speaker 2: great defense. Everybody's like, this is the year, this is
- 49:03Speaker 2: the year, this is the year. And every year Florida
- 49:05Speaker 2: state would run them out and it would always get
- 49:07Speaker 2: built up. Like finally, somebody is going to be Florida
- 49:09Speaker 2: state and it's going to be North Carolina. 23-30, Florida
- 49:12Speaker 2: State wins, and it's not even a contest. 4-24. I mean,
- 49:17Speaker 2: I would go lower than that. I'd go 2-26. Oh,
- 49:19Speaker 2: it's not even a contest.
- 49:20Speaker 1: 0-28 0-28 we'll see if they can shock the world
- 49:23Speaker 1: North Carolina and Notre Dame this weekend so I've given
- 49:26Speaker 1: you Shiano I've given you Lincoln Riley Deion Sanders Belichick
- 49:30Speaker 1: all trying to flip the script and then here comes
- 49:32Speaker 1: this guy Dabo Sweeney Tyler hit it man.
- 49:36Speaker 6: I mean if you don't win the turnover margin in
- 49:38Speaker 6: a game like this you ain't winning It's all about
- 49:41Speaker 6: the ball.
- 49:41Speaker 2: You're just not winning.
- 49:42Speaker 6: So we have to be elite in taking care of
- 49:46Speaker 6: the ball, and we've got to find a way to
- 49:48Speaker 6: turn them over. It's just that simple. We've got to
- 49:52Speaker 6: find a way to make some big plays on them.
- 49:54Speaker 6: They're going to make some plays. And then you've got
- 49:56Speaker 6: to hang in there, and you've got to give yourself
- 49:58Speaker 6: a chance to win the game in.
- 49:59Speaker 2: The fourth quarter. This is a four-quarter game.
- 50:01Speaker 6: This ain't a game that– I mean, this is going
- 50:05Speaker 6: to be down to the last play type of a
- 50:07Speaker 6: ball game. You want to give yourself a chance. You've
- 50:12Speaker 6: got to be able to settle into a game like this.
- 50:14Speaker 6: Your dudes have to be dudes.
- 50:18Speaker 2: We've got good players, too.
- 50:20Speaker 6: We've got to win matchups. We've been in a bunch
- 50:22Speaker 6: of these types of games. There's been a bunch of
- 50:23Speaker 6: teams where we might not have been the better team
- 50:27Speaker 6: on paper. If you go back and you look at
- 50:31Speaker 6: the things I'm talking about, field position, turnover margin, some
- 50:35Speaker 6: big plays, penalties, things like that. Those things make big
- 50:39Speaker 6: differences in games like this where you don't have a
- 50:41Speaker 6: big margin.
- 50:42Speaker 1: Miami and Clemson, they're at Death Valley, home field advantage
- 50:45Speaker 1: for Dabo. This is one of those, I mean, they've
- 50:49Speaker 1: played a little better since that blowout loss to LSU,
- 50:53Speaker 1: but this is the first team they've played that has
- 50:54Speaker 1: LSU-like talent. Again, we get to see how much they've
- 50:57Speaker 1: improved since the opening night. I get the feeling, I
- 51:00Speaker 1: know Hard Rock Betts giving.
- 51:01Speaker 3: Them no chance. 17 and a half.
- 51:03Speaker 1: I get the feeling you're giving him no chance.
- 51:05Speaker 3: Look, Gideon Davidson, you have established a weapon out of
- 51:08Speaker 3: the backfield. Tate Reynolds, I don't know if he's good enough.
- 51:10Speaker 3: I mean, the success would be ball control, keeping out
- 51:15Speaker 3: Darion Mintz's hand. Now, Mintz on the other side, we've
- 51:18Speaker 3: talked about this, more touchdowns than incompletions on the season,
- 51:22Speaker 3: completing 89% of his passes. This will be a test
- 51:25Speaker 3: for him, though. I mean, he really has gone against air,
- 51:27Speaker 3: so to speak. I know Wake Forest is not a
- 51:29Speaker 3: bad team.
- 51:29Speaker 2: But you've played at Stanford and at Wake.
- 51:32Speaker 4: I mean.
- 51:32Speaker 2: Even a down Clemson, that's going to be an atmosphere
- 51:35Speaker 2: that this team has not played in.
- 51:36Speaker 3: Right, right, right.
- 51:37Speaker 2: So you hope that's enough.
- 51:39Speaker 3: But you look at Miami, they're number one nationally against
- 51:41Speaker 3: the run, number two in total defense, number four in
- 51:44Speaker 3: scoring defense, number three in scoring offense. Again, a lot
- 51:48Speaker 3: of these numbers are built up based on opponents. But
- 51:51Speaker 3: Miami will go in with a ton of confidence, and
- 51:54Speaker 3: if Clemson gets behind early, you saw what happened in
- 51:56Speaker 3: Baton Rouge.
- 51:56Speaker 2: And his key was forcing turnovers, understandably, but they're minus
- 52:00Speaker 2: one on the season through four games in turnover margin,
- 52:02Speaker 2: so they haven't been forcing enough. So he's trying to
- 52:06Speaker 2: do something they haven't been particularly good at so far
- 52:08Speaker 2: this year.
- 52:09Speaker 1: Of the five I gave you, how many of them
- 52:10Speaker 1: win their game this weekend? Shiano, Lincoln, Riley, Dion, Dabo,
- 52:14Speaker 1: and Belichick.
- 52:16Speaker 3: Just one. There's one.
- 52:18Speaker 2: Yeah, Lincoln.
- 52:19Speaker 3: Lincoln's the only one.
- 52:20Speaker 2: Even though it's my upset alert, I would probably pick
- 52:22Speaker 2: Lincoln as well.
- 52:22Speaker 3: I mean, they're double-digit favorites.
- 52:24Speaker 2: I got them at nine and a half.
- 52:26Speaker 1: So some story book flips there for some coaches that
- 52:30Speaker 1: have not gotten off to the best starts or haven't
- 52:33Speaker 1: had the best press to start this season. When we
- 52:36Speaker 1: come back, Chris Lowe at On3 did a look at
- 52:39Speaker 1: September where he did some best and biggest disappointments of
- 52:44Speaker 1: the week. In the next segment, we'll pull out our
- 52:46Speaker 1: dry erase boards, and I'll ask the guys one, two, three, four, five,
- 52:50Speaker 1: six categories to sort of crown the best and the
- 52:54Speaker 1: worst of September. That's next on the next round presented
- 52:57Speaker 1: by our friends at Hard Rock Bets on Sport and State.
