- 1:17Speaker 5: All right, that's a quick open Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered.
- 1:21Speaker 5: It is Christmas Eve here at you. Let's stay. The
- 1:26Speaker 5: stockings were all hanging out ready to be stuffed. And uh,
- 1:30Speaker 5: by the way, I'm ready to be stuffed too. I
- 1:32Speaker 5: gotta order food. Not moly kidding, I'm.
- 1:34Speaker 6: Kidd you're really ordering food on Christmas?
- 1:37Speaker 5: I guess not, but I'm hungry. I haven't eaten.
- 1:40Speaker 6: All right, you want Christmas crack?
- 1:42Speaker 5: No, I don't want sugar.
- 1:43Speaker 6: I could use a little that later. No, no, no, no, no, no,
- 1:45Speaker 6: not now.
- 1:47Speaker 5: Paul is here, Alex is here, Evan will be here,
- 1:51Speaker 5: Douce will be here, and uh Matt's in the booth
- 1:55Speaker 5: and we're getting ready for the the I almost said
- 1:59Speaker 5: San Diego the LA Chargers on Saturday. What do you
- 2:04Speaker 5: think Paul Alex excited about this game?
- 2:07Speaker 6: I don't want to talk about Buffalo little first.
- 2:09Speaker 5: I guess we should. I just got through listening to
- 2:14Speaker 5: an hour of John Rook talk about it, so I was,
- 2:16Speaker 5: you know, I figured everything that needs to be said
- 2:19Speaker 5: has been said. But yeah, a.
- 2:22Speaker 6: Disrespectful no no.
- 2:25Speaker 5: Yeah. So, I mean everyone is pretty I wouldn't say satisfied,
- 2:30Speaker 5: but it's pleasantly surprised by the performance on Sunday.
- 2:36Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean I was pleasantly surprised that the game
- 2:38Speaker 6: was It was competitive.
- 2:41Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah, absolutely.
- 2:43Speaker 7: The first corner. No one expected that for a first.
- 2:46Speaker 6: Of all, I didn't. I'm not gonna lie and tell
- 2:48Speaker 6: you know. I mean, I talked about all week that
- 2:50Speaker 6: being a possibility that Buffalo wasn't going to be ready
- 2:52Speaker 6: to play, but I didn't think it was going to happen.
- 2:55Speaker 6: So I can't just lie and say I picked the
- 2:58Speaker 6: Patriots to cover. I didn't.
- 2:59Speaker 5: Yeah, it's a possibility, and it happened. But I think,
- 3:03Speaker 5: you know, we're talking about the fourteenth point, you know,
- 3:05Speaker 5: jumping out to the fourteenth point lead. But I think
- 3:08Speaker 5: equally impressive was holding you know, Josh Allen and their
- 3:13Speaker 5: offense to seventeen points. I thought they did better the
- 3:17Speaker 5: run game. The run defense did better, and.
- 3:20Speaker 6: Run defense, yeah was abysmal.
- 3:23Speaker 5: No, it wasn't.
- 3:23Speaker 6: Now for the Patriots run defense. They had one hundred
- 3:25Speaker 6: and seventy two yards Russia.
- 3:26Speaker 5: They had those two big runs.
- 3:28Speaker 6: And none of it and none of it was Josh Allen.
- 3:30Speaker 5: They had those two big runs.
- 3:32Speaker 6: No, the secondary was the difference.
- 3:34Speaker 5: And I was just gonna say the secondary was outstanding.
- 3:37Speaker 5: I think you know, they always have that planned when
- 3:40Speaker 5: they had the mobile quarterback to just you know, keep
- 3:42Speaker 5: them behind the line kind of not allow him to
- 3:46Speaker 5: get away. And that plan.
- 3:48Speaker 6: Now didn't run. Yeah, he didn't want to run.
- 3:51Speaker 5: But no, but he would go. He would go parallel
- 3:54Speaker 5: to the line and there was always guys.
- 3:56Speaker 6: That's why he didn't want to run right and he
- 3:58Speaker 6: kept going back behind the run defense. I don't have
- 4:01Speaker 6: anything good to say about run defense. You want to
- 4:03Speaker 6: talk about secondary, I'm here for that all day. I
- 4:05Speaker 6: thought they played man coverage for the most part. They
- 4:08Speaker 6: were talking about on the broadcast. There was a lot
- 4:11Speaker 6: of single high safety to which you know, should have
- 4:15Speaker 6: invited some some chunk plays for Josh Allen, and they
- 4:18Speaker 6: didn't have any.
- 4:19Speaker 5: No.
- 4:19Speaker 6: I thought they did a really really good job of
- 4:22Speaker 6: of sticky coverage, as they say, and man in a
- 4:25Speaker 6: out of those plays. Allen just ran around for days
- 4:27Speaker 6: and days and days behind the last scrimmage and still
- 4:30Speaker 6: couldn't find anybody to throw to. So I thought defensively overall,
- 4:33Speaker 6: I thought it was maybe the best performance of the
- 4:36Speaker 6: year considering the opponent. And I thought pass defense in
- 4:40Speaker 6: particular was really good.
- 4:41Speaker 5: Yeah. I mean, you could look at the Chicago game
- 4:44Speaker 5: or of course Week one, but you know, since since
- 4:48Speaker 5: Week one, this is probably their best defensive effort and.
- 4:51Speaker 7: Against probably one of the best the best teams, if not.
- 4:55Speaker 6: Second high second highest scoring team in the league, and
- 4:58Speaker 6: they were red hot when they when they came in.
- 5:00Speaker 6: I thought it was really good.
- 5:02Speaker 7: Marcus Jones too, some guys stepped up. It was very
- 5:05Speaker 7: nice to see.
- 5:06Speaker 5: I thought. I thought Booty had a particularly good game
- 5:10Speaker 5: played well, you know, made some really clutch catches. The
- 5:14Speaker 5: tight ends were good.
- 5:16Speaker 8: Yep.
- 5:17Speaker 6: I would agree.
- 5:18Speaker 5: You take away the turnovers and you might have won
- 5:21Speaker 5: this game. You might have won this game, right, you know, the.
- 5:26Speaker 6: Watch won the game. I don't know. Now they gave
- 5:28Speaker 6: the game away with the turnovers. Yeah, I mean, but
- 5:30Speaker 6: I mean, would they have won it? I don't know. Well, listen,
- 5:33Speaker 6: I mean, I mean as well as you played and
- 5:35Speaker 6: as bad as they played. It was fourteen fourteen before
- 5:37Speaker 6: there were any turn.
- 5:37Speaker 5: Now I know. But you know, you gave him seven
- 5:40Speaker 5: points with that.
- 5:41Speaker 6: Oh, you gave the game away three turnovers, three consecutive possessions.
- 5:45Speaker 6: You gave the game away.
- 5:46Speaker 5: On the on the interception that was intended for Hooper
- 5:51Speaker 5: that probably took three points off the board. You know,
- 5:56Speaker 5: So I could I could make a case for winning
- 5:58Speaker 5: this game if it weren't for the turnovers.
- 6:01Speaker 6: They could have.
- 6:01Speaker 5: Yeah, you know, so take that for what it's worth.
- 6:06Speaker 5: You go into this game now against the Chargers team.
- 6:10Speaker 5: If they win this game, I believe they clinch a
- 6:12Speaker 5: playoff Berth, so they've got something to play for. Well
- 6:16Speaker 5: coached team, impressive win last week. You know, Patriots, if
- 6:21Speaker 5: they do well, again this week, we'll probably be saying
- 6:25Speaker 5: this thing.
- 6:26Speaker 6: So I'm more curious what you guys think of that.
- 6:30Speaker 6: Like you said, for what it's worth, what do you
- 6:33Speaker 6: think it was worth the game, the performance against Buffalo?
- 6:38Speaker 5: Like long term, long term, not a hell of a lot.
- 6:44Speaker 5: But that's what I'm saying. That's why I say for
- 6:47Speaker 5: what it's worth, it's not worth.
- 6:49Speaker 6: Like, yeah, I'm just curious it's not worth like.
- 6:51Speaker 5: Saying, like, for example, if you go back to you know,
- 6:56Speaker 5: nineteen ninety four, you know that was worth a lot
- 6:59Speaker 5: or not, you know, because it gave them a lot
- 7:02Speaker 5: of momentum and it showed what they could do, and
- 7:05Speaker 5: they carried that momentum into the next season and made
- 7:07Speaker 5: the playoffs I believe, or they did ninety three.
- 7:10Speaker 6: Yeah, no, they did, but they you know, they were
- 7:12Speaker 6: winning games.
- 7:12Speaker 5: Yeah, exactly. I don't think it's that. I don't think
- 7:16Speaker 5: what we're seeing now is an indication of what we're
- 7:19Speaker 5: going to see next year. But I just think it's
- 7:21Speaker 5: just good for the culture. It's good for guys who
- 7:24Speaker 5: will be here next year that if they can continue
- 7:28Speaker 5: this for the next two games. I'm saying, playing competitively,
- 7:31Speaker 5: you know, relatively well just to have a good taste
- 7:34Speaker 5: in your mouth when the season's over totally, you know,
- 7:36Speaker 5: instead of like getting blown out the last three games
- 7:39Speaker 5: and you go into the offseason like, you know, a loser.
- 7:42Speaker 7: Basically, Yeah, And I think if they had gone into
- 7:44Speaker 7: Buffalo and gotten the doors blown off of them, what
- 7:47Speaker 7: would the next couple of weeks be like, Like how
- 7:49Speaker 7: do you get play motivation right to really show out?
- 7:53Speaker 7: And I don't know, I just think it was it
- 7:55Speaker 7: was huge for just morale in there.
- 7:57Speaker 5: And you know, we know what the deficiencies of this
- 8:01Speaker 5: team are, so do the players. The players know what
- 8:05Speaker 5: the roster is, they know what the injury situation is,
- 8:08Speaker 5: they know what the the inexperience of the coaching situation is.
- 8:12Speaker 5: They know that. But if you can play competitively, it
- 8:16Speaker 5: gives them a little hope, just a little hope to
- 8:18Speaker 5: the guys who are going to be here next year.
- 8:22Speaker 9: So I think it's.
- 8:23Speaker 6: Worth and I agree with what the way Alex said
- 8:26Speaker 6: it too. I think it allows you to at least
- 8:28Speaker 6: continue to play out the string and you get blown
- 8:32Speaker 6: out week after week after week. It's it's hard to
- 8:34Speaker 6: do that. So I do think at the very least
- 8:36Speaker 6: it allows them to continue to, you know, to play
- 8:39Speaker 6: with professionalism.
- 8:40Speaker 5: I mean they have flick at last night, you know,
- 8:42Speaker 5: thirty four to nothing. You know, the Saints get blown out.
- 8:46Speaker 6: I mean I've heard a lot of that. Today. It's
- 8:48Speaker 6: a little different in the situation. They blew out their coach,
- 8:50Speaker 6: their quarterback is out, the best receivers out, Like it's
- 8:53Speaker 6: a little bit of a different situation. Sure, but I
- 8:56Speaker 6: don't think it was an effort problem last night. They
- 8:59Speaker 6: just got killed by a much better team that was
- 9:01Speaker 6: playing well.
- 9:01Speaker 5: I never have said it was an effort problem.
- 9:03Speaker 6: No, I'm just saying I've heard a lot of that. Yeah,
- 9:05Speaker 6: this is what could happen. You know, they could roll
- 9:07Speaker 6: over time, like, yeah, sure, we could have fired Jerrid Mayo,
- 9:10Speaker 6: and you know, maybe Jeremy Springer was the coach, because
- 9:13Speaker 6: that's the equivalent Jeremy Springer was the head coach. That's
- 9:17Speaker 6: what the Saints are dealing with right now. And instead
- 9:19Speaker 6: of Drake a playing quarterback, Joe Milton's playing. That's the
- 9:22Speaker 6: equivalent of what's going on in New Orleans.
- 9:24Speaker 5: But you know, they can't be feeling good over there
- 9:26Speaker 5: about all this stuff, you know, So there's a differences
- 9:31Speaker 5: there's a difference obviously from what they're doing and what
- 9:35Speaker 5: the Patriots did on Sundays. So again, it's it's not
- 9:40Speaker 5: worth a hell of a lot. It doesn't mean you're
- 9:42Speaker 5: going to make the playoffs next year at all, but
- 9:45Speaker 5: it's just just a little better taste in your mouth.
- 9:48Speaker 6: Absolutely, Yeah, And I'm not again I said it at
- 9:51Speaker 6: the beginning, I'll say it now. I didn't. I thought
- 9:54Speaker 6: they were going to have a hard time keeping up.
- 9:56Speaker 5: Why wouldn't anyone.
- 9:57Speaker 6: I thought they would have a hard time keeping up,
- 9:59Speaker 6: and they didn't. Yeah, they kept up.
- 10:01Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 10:01Speaker 6: I mean ultimately, like you said, for the mistakes cost
- 10:05Speaker 6: you any chance to win, Like they had no chance
- 10:07Speaker 6: to win the game in the second half, none, but
- 10:09Speaker 6: it was because of their own mistakes.
- 10:12Speaker 5: Yep, yep. Obviously the turnovers are big mistakes. But would
- 10:17Speaker 5: you consider going for the punt on fourth and sixth mistake?
- 10:22Speaker 6: Not going for a punt? Yeah, Like you're trying to
- 10:24Speaker 6: win the game or you're trying to only lose.
- 10:26Speaker 5: They punted on fourth and sixth on midfield.
- 10:29Speaker 6: I would say, you're trying to win the game or
- 10:31Speaker 6: you're trying to lose.
- 10:31Speaker 5: By a little I don't know. If they try to
- 10:33Speaker 5: lose by a little Yeah, I don't know why they
- 10:35Speaker 5: did that.
- 10:35Speaker 7: I feel like the momentum was really in their favor
- 10:38Speaker 7: at that point in the game.
- 10:39Speaker 10: Two.
- 10:39Speaker 5: I don't know, but it's like, I think there was
- 10:42Speaker 5: like eight, it was eight, it was.
- 10:44Speaker 6: Eight thirty three left, you're down ten from the forty
- 10:47Speaker 6: five forty six yard line. Yeah, Like, if you don't
- 10:51Speaker 6: get it, I don't really see any difference between what happened. Yeah,
- 10:55Speaker 6: you still have to stop Buffalo basically three and oh,
- 10:59Speaker 6: because if they get a couple of first downs, the
- 11:00Speaker 6: game's over anyway. And that's what happened. Yep, And Buffalo
- 11:04Speaker 6: moved the ball really consistently in the second half. They
- 11:07Speaker 6: didn't they didn't have the ball in the first half
- 11:09Speaker 6: because the Patriots controlled the ball. Do you know the
- 11:12Speaker 6: Patriots had the ball two to one in the first half. Oh,
- 11:15Speaker 6: you know what it was in the second.
- 11:16Speaker 5: Half the other way.
- 11:18Speaker 6: Yeah, Like that to me is why I can't I
- 11:22Speaker 6: can't just punt it back. Yeah, right, I'm not going
- 11:24Speaker 6: to get it, and I need two possessions, and there's
- 11:27Speaker 6: not enough time for two possessions unless I do something
- 11:30Speaker 6: I haven't really done since the second quarter.
- 11:33Speaker 5: Yep, yep. I mean we have to remember that the
- 11:37Speaker 5: Bills were without three of their four secondary starters. They
- 11:41Speaker 5: were without Milano in the middle. They did create a
- 11:45Speaker 5: lot of pressure.
- 11:46Speaker 6: I would say less about the You're right about the personnel,
- 11:49Speaker 6: but I just didn't feel like Buffalo really brought it.
- 11:54Speaker 6: I you know, again, I said I thought it was
- 11:56Speaker 6: a possibility, but I didn't think it was going to happen.
- 11:59Speaker 6: It happened like. I don't think Josh Allen wanted to
- 12:01Speaker 6: run in that game. I don't know how. I just
- 12:04Speaker 6: feel like they made a decision we don't need him
- 12:06Speaker 6: to run this week. And as it was, he landed
- 12:09Speaker 6: on his elbow on one of the scrambles, and I
- 12:12Speaker 6: think he probably got like that, yeah, because it looked
- 12:15Speaker 6: like he couldn't throw the ball after that.
- 12:17Speaker 7: Yeah, he was visiting with that hand. That seemed like
- 12:19Speaker 7: the entire second half ish from the point of that injury.
- 12:22Speaker 5: So let me ask you questions. The Patriots play as
- 12:25Speaker 5: well as they did on Sunday against the Chargers.
- 12:30Speaker 6: Do they Chargers play? But do the Chargers play the
- 12:34Speaker 6: way they did in the second half against Denver.
- 12:37Speaker 5: I don't know how that was you you.
- 12:38Speaker 6: Just said they're coming off a big win.
- 12:41Speaker 5: Well, the overall game, it was a big win.
- 12:43Speaker 6: Yeah, So if they did the Chargers play like that,
- 12:47Speaker 6: I'm trying to think Chargers play like they did last Thursday.
- 12:49Speaker 6: They win by two scores. Denver answer the question.
- 12:51Speaker 5: Denver jumped out to a lead in that one, twenty
- 12:53Speaker 5: one to twenty one to ten, and then the Chargers
- 12:56Speaker 5: came back in the second half. Right, So let's say
- 12:58Speaker 5: the Patriots jump out to an eleven point lead in
- 13:01Speaker 5: the first half, no turnovers. Do they win that game
- 13:05Speaker 5: against the Chargers?
- 13:06Speaker 6: I doubt it.
- 13:07Speaker 5: No. You think the Chargers have as much power as.
- 13:11Speaker 6: Much as the Bills. No, Yeah, they're not a high
- 13:13Speaker 6: power team at all.
- 13:14Speaker 5: So that's what I'm trying to add.
- 13:15Speaker 6: But they're a better defense.
- 13:17Speaker 5: Yeah, but you already got an eleven point lead. Yeah,
- 13:19Speaker 5: I know.
- 13:19Speaker 6: I could see them shutting you out. Yeah, Buffalo did
- 13:22Speaker 6: until there was a minute left in the game. And
- 13:24Speaker 6: I don't think Buffalo's defense as good at all.
- 13:26Speaker 5: Yeah, well it's not bad.
- 13:28Speaker 6: I think it's pretty bad.
- 13:29Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 13:29Speaker 6: I think it's going to cost them again. You think so, yeah, good,
- 13:33Speaker 6: it's my analysis.
- 13:33Speaker 5: Good.
- 13:34Speaker 6: We don't want Bills, Fred's Fred's hated teams are.
- 13:36Speaker 5: Gonna absolutely lose.
- 13:38Speaker 6: Yeah, I can't. I still creeping around now.
- 13:41Speaker 5: I can't decide. I can't decide if I want the
- 13:43Speaker 5: Bills to just get knocked out before the super Bowl
- 13:46Speaker 5: or go to the super Bowl and yet again lose. Yeah,
- 13:50Speaker 5: either one would make me really happy.
- 13:52Speaker 7: The Bills I kind of want to see win the
- 13:54Speaker 7: super Bowl. Really, I really. Yeah.
- 13:57Speaker 5: That upsets nature. It's not natural.
- 13:59Speaker 7: I know it's not natural. That's why it's natural. It'd
- 14:02Speaker 7: be nice to see them get one.
- 14:04Speaker 5: No, it wouldn't. Why I don't. I'm not a Bills fan.
- 14:06Speaker 5: I don't. I don't know.
- 14:07Speaker 7: They were just like our little brother that was never
- 14:10Speaker 7: as good as we were for years, and I want
- 14:12Speaker 7: to keep it. Yeah, but it's like, if they get one,
- 14:15Speaker 7: it's not.
- 14:15Speaker 5: If they get one, they'll be putting in billboard one.
- 14:18Speaker 5: I don't.
- 14:18Speaker 7: We'll get to make fun of them for it and
- 14:20Speaker 7: be like, act like you've been here before, Oh wait,
- 14:22Speaker 7: you haven't, and then we can joke about it, and
- 14:24Speaker 7: then they'll go.
- 14:25Speaker 6: To But now it's just the whole thing planning.
- 14:30Speaker 5: If they win one, now we can't say, well, you know,
- 14:33Speaker 5: then we have.
- 14:34Speaker 7: Six, you have one, but you got you got your one. Yeah,
- 14:38Speaker 7: say that's really cute. We're happy for you.
- 14:40Speaker 5: We can't say to them anymore, well, you haven't won anything.
- 14:43Speaker 5: I want to be able to continue to say that
- 14:45Speaker 5: fair enough.
- 14:46Speaker 7: It's not a threat to me if they win one,
- 14:48Speaker 7: because you know, I don't think they'll continue to sustain
- 14:51Speaker 7: it year after year. Like I don't think it'll be
- 14:52Speaker 7: a cheap situation.
- 14:53Speaker 6: I don't think they would win six. But as long
- 14:55Speaker 6: as long as Josh Allen as their quarterback, they will
- 14:57Speaker 6: be a contender every year.
- 14:59Speaker 5: You know, because you drive into Orchard Park and the
- 15:01Speaker 5: bus and the fans are just giving you the finger.
- 15:04Speaker 5: You might see some moons here and I would love
- 15:09Speaker 5: to get hit by snowballs, you know, which is all fine, good.
- 15:13Speaker 5: I want to I wanted to put a sign on
- 15:15Speaker 5: the bus, you know, Scott Scott nor would express as
- 15:17Speaker 5: we drove in, you know, or like what if you
- 15:20Speaker 5: won something like that? You know, to troll them.
- 15:22Speaker 6: But uh, which is why he doesn't get along.
- 15:24Speaker 5: We probably wouldn't make it if we did that.
- 15:26Speaker 6: But no, that's that is assover. That is a tough entrance.
- 15:30Speaker 5: It's a tough Entrance.
- 15:31Speaker 6: But every year.
- 15:32Speaker 5: But it but I don't care because you guys haven't
- 15:36Speaker 5: won anything. Yeah, you know, if you win a super Bowl,
- 15:39Speaker 5: then now you've won a super Bowl. Now you're off
- 15:43Speaker 5: the snide.
- 15:44Speaker 7: I get it.
- 15:45Speaker 6: So yeah, I don't have the Buffalo hatred that Fred does.
- 15:47Speaker 7: Yeah, me either, Like the Jets have it all for
- 15:50Speaker 7: me in terms of division rivals, for.
- 15:52Speaker 6: Me, it's always been Miami.
- 15:55Speaker 5: Yeah, see I don't. I don't saying, but I don't
- 15:57Speaker 5: have a hatred of Miami that you have.
- 15:59Speaker 7: My least hated division rival.
- 16:01Speaker 6: Well, for me, it was always Shula on the like
- 16:06Speaker 6: the competition committee, like creating rules for himself and the
- 16:11Speaker 6: fact that the Patriots could never beat them. Yep, with
- 16:14Speaker 6: Greasy and Marino, they've never won down there obviously until
- 16:18Speaker 6: they finally did in eighty five. But I always I
- 16:21Speaker 6: just always hated Miami.
- 16:23Speaker 5: Yeah, going back to of the game, Marty Mapu, aside
- 16:27Speaker 5: from the bone Head, played great game. For Yeah, I
- 16:31Speaker 5: was gonna say this game, I said, Aside from the
- 16:33Speaker 5: bone had played trying to get out of the end zone.
- 16:35Speaker 5: I thought he had a good game.
- 16:36Speaker 6: I thought he played really well. And this is it's
- 16:38Speaker 6: something that you know as you guys know that these
- 16:41Speaker 6: random things that just kind of annoy me. It sided
- 16:43Speaker 6: would annoy me, like the last couple of games that
- 16:45Speaker 6: he's been a healthy scratch.
- 16:47Speaker 5: Maybe he needed that.
- 16:48Speaker 6: He's a second year player, he needs to play. No,
- 16:50Speaker 6: but maybe you know, like like for what would he
- 16:53Speaker 6: need that for?
- 16:54Speaker 5: Maybe we don't know, but I'm just saying there's gotta
- 16:57Speaker 5: be a reason why he wasn't seeing the field recently.
- 17:00Speaker 6: He wasn't dressed.
- 17:02Speaker 5: Okay, so semantics Paul didn't see the field, wasn't dressed.
- 17:07Speaker 5: There's gotta be a reason for that.
- 17:09Speaker 6: They didn't think he was one of their best players. Why,
- 17:12Speaker 6: I don't know. Okay, so what he probably isn't okay,
- 17:16Speaker 6: but I think he is a second year guy. He
- 17:18Speaker 6: needs to play instead of Jabrol Peppers. Well okay, I
- 17:20Speaker 6: don't think that's all that controversial.
- 17:22Speaker 5: They didn't and maybe there was a good reason for that,
- 17:25Speaker 5: and maybe he needed that time to like reflect on
- 17:28Speaker 5: why aren't they putting me out here? I need to
- 17:30Speaker 5: step up? And maybe that worked, you know, different things
- 17:34Speaker 5: to motivate different players. Maybe he needed that time out
- 17:37Speaker 5: from his coaches.
- 17:39Speaker 6: You give the coaches a pass. I'm not like it's
- 17:42Speaker 6: ridiculous that he wasn't.
- 17:43Speaker 5: Dressed so arbitrarily, they just said, we're not going to
- 17:46Speaker 5: address you.
- 17:46Speaker 6: It's no reason, it's not no. They arbitrarily didn't decide
- 17:49Speaker 6: to put him back in the lineup either. Jabrill Pepper's
- 17:51Speaker 6: got hurt on Friday at practice, but opened up a
- 17:53Speaker 6: spot on the roster. That's why he played well.
- 17:57Speaker 5: We're told he got hurt. I don't know about the.
- 18:01Speaker 6: Heard in practice on Friday. Was added to the injury
- 18:04Speaker 6: board Friday.
- 18:04Speaker 5: Okay, all right, good, but I'm just saying that.
- 18:08Speaker 6: Now they're just making stuff up on the injury.
- 18:09Speaker 5: Maybe maybe this time out for Mapou helped him, you
- 18:13Speaker 5: know a little time, but it.
- 18:14Speaker 6: Was wrong with when he was playing earlier.
- 18:16Speaker 5: He wasn't playing well at all.
- 18:17Speaker 6: As ask Evan, Why do I have to ask Evan?
- 18:20Speaker 6: I can watch the game myself.
- 18:22Speaker 5: Because he grinds the all twenty two.
- 18:24Speaker 6: This is he didn't even play.
- 18:26Speaker 5: It's really hard to tell, Like I, I can't watch
- 18:29Speaker 5: a game and know what a safety like, did he
- 18:33Speaker 5: have a great game? The only time you know what
- 18:35Speaker 5: kind of game he has is when he screws up
- 18:37Speaker 5: or when he makes you know, great play.
- 18:38Speaker 6: Screw up on Sunday. I thought he I thought he
- 18:41Speaker 6: had good coverage on Sunday exactly. I didn't need the
- 18:44Speaker 6: interception to show.
- 18:45Speaker 5: Him he was involved. And I thought he had a
- 18:47Speaker 5: good game, and I thought it might have been his
- 18:49Speaker 5: best game.
- 18:49Speaker 6: Players need to be playing, That's all I will say.
- 18:52Speaker 6: If you want to get better, your young players need
- 18:54Speaker 6: to get better and develop and play well.
- 18:56Speaker 5: I think your best players need to be playing. And
- 19:00Speaker 5: you know, I can't imagine that for no reason they decided,
- 19:03Speaker 5: oh ma, Pho, you're out. I think there was a reason.
- 19:07Speaker 5: I think that he wasn't for you know, playing up
- 19:10Speaker 5: to his ability. Wasn't you know, getting the game plan right?
- 19:14Speaker 5: Whatever it is they felt.
- 19:16Speaker 6: But they but that's does that mean it's right.
- 19:20Speaker 5: I'm just saying, I don't know if it's.
- 19:21Speaker 1: Right or right.
- 19:22Speaker 6: I assume, Alex that they have like reasoning, like when
- 19:27Speaker 6: they say Jacoby Brissett is going to be the starting
- 19:29Speaker 6: quarterback in Week one, Their reasoning was they wanted to
- 19:32Speaker 6: integrate Drake may slowly. I think that was the wrong reason.
- 19:36Speaker 6: I know they had one, doesn't mean I have to
- 19:38Speaker 6: agree with it, okay, right, Like, I mean, what's the difference.
- 19:42Speaker 5: So you think before they sat Mapoo he was having
- 19:44Speaker 5: a good season. I don't know.
- 19:46Speaker 6: He didn't play enough. He was getting played, like two
- 19:49Speaker 6: games he was he was sitting.
- 19:50Speaker 5: He was getting panned before this. And you know how
- 19:54Speaker 5: was Kyle Dugger played. He was getting panned as well.
- 19:57Speaker 6: Did they sit him? Maybe he needed to sit so
- 20:00Speaker 6: he could go to the penalty box between minutes and
- 20:02Speaker 6: field shait.
- 20:02Speaker 5: Maybe they didn't have an alternative to Dugger.
- 20:04Speaker 6: They had MANI ma pool. Well, okay, this is my
- 20:08Speaker 6: whole point. Just because a guy's not playing well playing,
- 20:10Speaker 6: I don't seem to remember these like egregiously bad plays
- 20:14Speaker 6: that Mapoo was making. I don't necessarily ever remember making
- 20:17Speaker 6: any good plays like he did on Sunday before this,
- 20:20Speaker 6: either in fairness to you and not that I thought
- 20:22Speaker 6: he was lighting it up. But I don't remember him
- 20:24Speaker 6: being like del Pettis, he plays every game. I could
- 20:28Speaker 6: give you a litany of plays that I remember in
- 20:29Speaker 6: being out of position. Okay, so he's a young guy.
- 20:33Speaker 11: You live with it.
- 20:33Speaker 5: You want to get So you're saying they mistreated Mapoo.
- 20:36Speaker 6: I didn't say anything about mistreat I think they made mistakes. Fred,
- 20:39Speaker 6: Why does it have to be like an egregiously, like malicious,
- 20:42Speaker 6: like like they mistreated.
- 20:43Speaker 5: I think if Mapoo was playing as well as del
- 20:46Speaker 5: Pettis or Pepper's or or Duggar, I think he would
- 20:50Speaker 5: have been dressed. I think there was a reason why you.
- 20:53Speaker 6: Can't play safety worse than Kyle Dugert did in Miami.
- 20:56Speaker 5: No, he was awful.
- 20:57Speaker 6: And he didn't miss a second playing time.
- 20:59Speaker 5: Over it except for being a little bit.
- 21:01Speaker 6: So that's not not since then, Yeah, he hasn't been hurt.
- 21:04Speaker 5: But I I I'm telling you, Paul that whether you
- 21:08Speaker 5: think it, I know it's right or wrong. I think
- 21:10Speaker 5: there was a reason why he was not dressed, and
- 21:14Speaker 5: I think it might have helped him because I think
- 21:16Speaker 5: he had his best game.
- 21:18Speaker 6: Well, I think it hurt him. I think he could
- 21:19Speaker 6: have done what he did on Sunday the previous five
- 21:22Speaker 6: games had he played. Yeah, I know, I was were
- 21:24Speaker 6: playing in fantasy land of having no idea what happened.
- 21:27Speaker 6: I'm going to go with that he would have been better.
- 21:29Speaker 5: Well, listen, I'm you know I've never coached in the NFL.
- 21:32Speaker 5: You have, so you know more than I do.
- 21:34Speaker 6: No, I you know, I but you can't make a
- 21:37Speaker 6: you can't make a comment and say I think he
- 21:39Speaker 6: benefited from not playing.
- 21:41Speaker 5: I can make that comment.
- 21:43Speaker 6: Then I can say I think it heard him not
- 21:44Speaker 6: playing and he would have been better on Sunday. Fine,
- 21:46Speaker 6: and they would have won the game had he had
- 21:48Speaker 6: they played the last three years.
- 21:49Speaker 5: That's fine. We can disagree.
- 21:50Speaker 6: That's every bit as silly, is what you're saying.
- 21:53Speaker 7: I think you're both right.
- 21:54Speaker 8: Why I.
- 21:56Speaker 7: Experience a fire under him that he was sitting like,
- 22:01Speaker 7: I think you're both right.
- 22:02Speaker 6: It might have, But to say that it did, I
- 22:06Speaker 6: don't think you can do it.
- 22:07Speaker 5: I say, I said, I think, I think, I think
- 22:09Speaker 5: that opinions.
- 22:13Speaker 6: I just like, I just don't really understand what the
- 22:16Speaker 6: other side is of not playing a young guy that
- 22:20Speaker 6: needs experience. I don't really know what the other side is.
- 22:23Speaker 5: Does del Pettis need experience?
- 22:24Speaker 6: Yes, that's why playing Okay, that's why I'm all. That's
- 22:26Speaker 6: why even though he's making mistakes, I understand what he's doing.
- 22:29Speaker 5: Okay.
- 22:30Speaker 6: I don't think del Pettis has anywhere near the upside
- 22:32Speaker 6: that Mapoo. Do you know?
- 22:33Speaker 5: Every Sunday is a numbers game, like and the coaches
- 22:36Speaker 5: have to make a decision. Who are we going to
- 22:38Speaker 5: be out here, Who's who's going to give us lost?
- 22:40Speaker 6: If it was between Mapoo and Pettis, it would be
- 22:42Speaker 6: Mapoo for me, for you, right, because there's like there's
- 22:45Speaker 6: upside there, there's size, there's athleticism, there's pedigree. He was
- 22:48Speaker 6: a third round pick, not an undrafted rookie. Like, there's
- 22:51Speaker 6: a lot more to be gained. If Mapoo was good,
- 22:53Speaker 6: unless there's some other if it's just a miss and
- 22:57Speaker 6: it's not another bad draft pick by Belichick, then by
- 23:00Speaker 6: all means don't play him. But I don't think that's
- 23:02Speaker 6: the case.
- 23:03Speaker 5: I don't think.
- 23:03Speaker 6: I don't think we know yet.
- 23:04Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't know.
- 23:07Speaker 7: This WEE weekend will be interesting. You'll see if Pepper's
- 23:09Speaker 7: is back in, if Duggar has a big role, you'll see, Okay,
- 23:13Speaker 7: how are they going to use it? Because they saw
- 23:16Speaker 7: that he can play. He made great plays. He was
- 23:19Speaker 7: very active, aside from the the touchback situation, which you.
- 23:23Speaker 1: Can also.
- 23:25Speaker 6: That was a bad play and you kind of.
- 23:27Speaker 7: See him like, at least from the broadcast point vantage point.
- 23:30Speaker 7: I don't know if you guys saw it looked like
- 23:31Speaker 7: he kind of like stopped at the last minute.
- 23:33Speaker 12: But then.
- 23:39Speaker 5: I agree with that, but let's mark this down because
- 23:42Speaker 5: I want to get the opinions of Deuce and.
- 23:43Speaker 6: Evan, but I don't like, I don't really understand, Like,
- 23:47Speaker 6: why can I not think that he should play? Like
- 23:49Speaker 6: I know they have a reason.
- 23:50Speaker 5: You keep saying, what does I have an opinion? He
- 23:56Speaker 5: has an opinion? But Paul, why can't I have my opinion?
- 23:59Speaker 5: Who said you can't have your opinion?
- 24:01Speaker 6: You have an opinion? That is that's why he's not playing?
- 24:07Speaker 5: Said maybe maybe this was good.
- 24:09Speaker 6: For him, And I'm saying, like, why did he need it?
- 24:12Speaker 5: I don't know, I'm saying, but maybe the cor.
- 24:14Speaker 6: You know what, You're right, Let's let's kind of take
- 24:18Speaker 6: a step back. What makes you think that? Like, I'm
- 24:21Speaker 6: curious as to what have you seen that makes you
- 24:24Speaker 6: think that he needed to it?
- 24:25Speaker 5: Yeah? To think because I remember when he was playing,
- 24:29Speaker 5: everybody thought Marty Mapoo isn't getting it. He's not playing.
- 24:33Speaker 6: I don't think he's all that good.
- 24:34Speaker 5: Okay, I'll say that that could be, but.
- 24:36Speaker 6: This game, right, But I want I just want to
- 24:39Speaker 6: find out, like I would not have said Jalen Polk
- 24:42Speaker 6: needed to sit four games Week three through five. I
- 24:45Speaker 6: want to see him play to see if he can
- 24:48Speaker 6: get out of this. Yeah, now it's been fifteen weeks
- 24:52Speaker 6: kind of out on a Jalen Polk experience. Do you know,
- 24:54Speaker 6: you know, like you don't know unless you see him playing.
- 24:57Speaker 5: Okay, but we saw.
- 24:58Speaker 6: I was just curious as to why you thought because
- 25:01Speaker 6: Mapoo needed that, which is probably a better way of
- 25:04Speaker 6: me than being his argumentative.
- 25:05Speaker 5: I don't think he was playing well, and I think
- 25:07Speaker 5: the coaches decided We're going to see what combination we
- 25:11Speaker 5: can you know, at safety will be better and whatever.
- 25:16Speaker 5: Maybe and if I'm Mapoo, I'm like, I should be
- 25:18Speaker 5: out there. I'm better, I'm better than del Pettis. I'm
- 25:22Speaker 5: I'm playing as well as as Dougger. I should be
- 25:25Speaker 5: out there. And maybe, you know, being not dressed, like
- 25:30Speaker 5: you said, lit a fire under him and and it
- 25:33Speaker 5: resulted in him having his best game so far this season.
- 25:36Speaker 6: That might have been That might have been the That's
- 25:38Speaker 6: all I'm saying. I mean, I can't again, no, but
- 25:41Speaker 6: because I can't argue something that's impossible to prove, So
- 25:44Speaker 6: that might have been the case. But you try to
- 25:46Speaker 6: say but that, But that's why I'm saying.
- 25:49Speaker 7: I think speaking hypothetical.
- 25:51Speaker 6: I think if he played every game, they'd have five
- 25:53Speaker 6: more wins, especially sause I don't have any more, you know,
- 25:57Speaker 6: like evidence that that would be the case. Then I
- 26:00Speaker 6: know that you're not saying you'll have to jog, but
- 26:05Speaker 6: I think it's equally silly.
- 26:06Speaker 7: You'll have to jog my memory.
- 26:07Speaker 5: But why why am what I'm saying is silly?
- 26:10Speaker 6: I don't because you don't, because that's why I ask
- 26:12Speaker 6: you if you had anything to go on, and.
- 26:15Speaker 5: We have nothing to go on with anything. We don't
- 26:17Speaker 5: have all the infor like so like.
- 26:19Speaker 6: But but the information that I'm going on is he's
- 26:21Speaker 6: not on the injury port, so he's not. I could
- 26:23Speaker 6: sit here's a healthy scratch.
- 26:24Speaker 5: I can sit here and say Scott Peters is not
- 26:26Speaker 5: a good offensive line coach according to you, that's silly.
- 26:30Speaker 6: Okay, So that's not silly. You're basing down on the
- 26:32Speaker 6: performance of the offensive line and how many and how
- 26:35Speaker 6: many mental mistakes they've.
- 26:36Speaker 5: Had, And I was basing it on the performance of
- 26:38Speaker 5: Money Mopoo.
- 26:39Speaker 6: Except for the Moni map Poo hasn't played until Sunday.
- 26:42Speaker 6: Except for the first game when he played every snap
- 26:44Speaker 6: when he was healthy.
- 26:44Speaker 5: He was playing he played then is his role.
- 26:48Speaker 6: Kind of disappeared?
- 26:49Speaker 5: Why?
- 26:49Speaker 6: I don't know, This is my point.
- 26:51Speaker 7: Okay, jog my memory. When we were without both Dugger
- 26:55Speaker 7: and Peppers, what was his playing time?
- 26:58Speaker 6: Like that's what he played a lot, Like Peppers was
- 27:00Speaker 6: out the whole time because he got for weeks, ye
- 27:03Speaker 6: for a week, for a long time, and so he
- 27:06Speaker 6: came back off the injury and played like if you
- 27:08Speaker 6: recall like every snap of his first game back. Now,
- 27:12Speaker 6: I don't think he played particularly great, but I thought
- 27:14Speaker 6: it was impressive that he did such a full workload.
- 27:19Speaker 6: Then he got hurt and I thought that wasn't Now
- 27:22Speaker 6: here's what I'd be willing to say that I might
- 27:25Speaker 6: be able to go on Fred's side. He's not on
- 27:27Speaker 6: the injury report anymore, but maybe he's not physically right
- 27:31Speaker 6: and they wanted to make sure that you know, I
- 27:35Speaker 6: think he had a neck injury, I want to say,
- 27:36Speaker 6: which in particular to me, is something you might want
- 27:39Speaker 6: to err on the side of caution. So maybe that
- 27:42Speaker 6: had more to do with it. But again, like I'm
- 27:45Speaker 6: just going off of the information that we do know,
- 27:48Speaker 6: and that's what I'm trying to base my opinion on.
- 27:51Speaker 6: Like if you said that Scott Peters thing, I'm not
- 27:54Speaker 6: just saying that I'm looking at Scott Peters. I don't
- 27:56Speaker 6: think he's a good coach. No, I'm watching the offensive
- 27:58Speaker 6: line struggle week after week with a lot of mental
- 28:01Speaker 6: mistakes with a lot of guys who aren't good with
- 28:04Speaker 6: mental mistakes. Again, doesn't have anything to do with talent,
- 28:08Speaker 6: missing guys rushing up on the same tackle and stunt
- 28:12Speaker 6: that worked in week one is working in week sixteen
- 28:15Speaker 6: against the same guys. So if I think that he's
- 28:19Speaker 6: not doing a great job, that's what I'm basing it on,
- 28:21Speaker 6: not because I have no information. I just said, yeah,
- 28:23Speaker 6: I don't know if he's a good coach.
- 28:24Speaker 5: Listen, I'm facing on what I saw from Ma poo
- 28:27Speaker 5: before before he got he sat and he wasn't playing well.
- 28:31Speaker 5: Maybe the coaches felt that. Like I said, let's see
- 28:34Speaker 5: what some other combinations are.
- 28:37Speaker 6: We don't have to go through this. When the guys
- 28:39Speaker 6: come back, I'd.
- 28:40Speaker 5: Just like to get their opinion. Maybe they agree with you, Paul.
- 28:46Speaker 6: The difference is I don't care if they do or not.
- 28:49Speaker 5: No, obviously, Jeremiah writes, and I think it's kind of
- 28:54Speaker 5: funny that Paul's arguing for Mapoo to play when the
- 28:56Speaker 5: same argument he's making he trash for the same situation
- 28:59Speaker 5: as Baker. As Paul said, with Baker, if the coach
- 29:01Speaker 5: is fault, he was doing enough, then he'd be out
- 29:03Speaker 5: there getting snaps.
- 29:04Speaker 6: Baker hasn't been a healthy scratch. We don't know active
- 29:07Speaker 6: in all of these games.
- 29:08Speaker 5: We don't know what's going on in practice or even
- 29:10Speaker 5: though I think Mapoo and Baker both should be getting
- 29:12Speaker 5: snaps just to see what they have in a real
- 29:14Speaker 5: game situation and not an If Baker.
- 29:16Speaker 6: Was a healthy scratch every week, I would say the
- 29:18Speaker 6: same thing. But he's not. He's been active all these games,
- 29:23Speaker 6: I know.
- 29:23Speaker 5: But if he see I would argue, would then with
- 29:26Speaker 5: you then as well, because if he wasn't active Baker,
- 29:29Speaker 5: I'd be like, they just don't think he gets it,
- 29:32Speaker 5: Like he'd be out there if they thought it was
- 29:35Speaker 5: worth putting him out there.
- 29:36Speaker 6: No, but if they had. Let's put it this way,
- 29:39Speaker 6: Baker to me is when they have five receivers in
- 29:42Speaker 6: the roster, I think they have five active receivers. He's
- 29:45Speaker 6: number five. Yeah, I don't think Mapu was the last safety, No,
- 29:49Speaker 6: But that's that that to me is a difference too.
- 29:51Speaker 6: He's being treated like he's the last season. Well, I mentioned,
- 29:54Speaker 6: I don't think he is.
- 29:54Speaker 5: I mentioned it's a numbers game. It's a numbers game
- 29:57Speaker 5: of wide receiver too. But I like if they if
- 30:01Speaker 5: they were not dressing Baker all year, my assumption would be,
- 30:07Speaker 5: and I don't have the information, but my assumption would be,
- 30:10Speaker 5: he ain't getting it in practice.
- 30:12Speaker 6: He's not earning any he's not getting into practice, but
- 30:15Speaker 6: they're still giving them chances. Yeah, that's my point. So
- 30:19Speaker 6: that's the only way you can find out for sure. Well,
- 30:23Speaker 6: it's the only way you can find out for sure
- 30:24Speaker 6: is if well, but if some guys don't practice well.
- 30:27Speaker 5: I know. But if you're setting a culture that you
- 30:29Speaker 5: know you earn it in practice and the guy is
- 30:31Speaker 5: screwing up in practice, you're not setting a good sending
- 30:34Speaker 5: a good message to the rest of the team. If
- 30:35Speaker 5: he's getting his chances anyway, that's not I don't think
- 30:39Speaker 5: that's the way to run your team.
- 30:41Speaker 6: Again, we're making this assumption now that Madi Map who
- 30:44Speaker 6: is not practicing.
- 30:45Speaker 5: Well, I don't know. There's some reason why he wasn't
- 30:48Speaker 5: playing well either. I don't know about the practice. But
- 30:52Speaker 5: there's some reason why he wasn't dressed, right.
- 30:56Speaker 8: I have.
- 30:57Speaker 6: I have absolutely no idea, but I assume there's a reason. Yes,
- 30:59Speaker 6: I think that's a logical assumption.
- 31:01Speaker 5: Okay, And whatever that we were assigning it. And all
- 31:04Speaker 5: I was saying is whatever that reason was. Maybe I'm
- 31:08Speaker 5: not saying it happened. Maybe having to sit for a
- 31:12Speaker 5: while helped him light a fire. I'm using Alex's words,
- 31:17Speaker 5: and it resulted in him having his best game.
- 31:19Speaker 6: Certainly plausible.
- 31:21Speaker 5: I mean, it wouldn't be the first time in pro
- 31:23Speaker 5: sports where somebody got a time out and came back
- 31:26Speaker 5: with fire.
- 31:28Speaker 6: Certainly plausible.
- 31:29Speaker 5: I remember that game, you know, not that Richard Seymour
- 31:32Speaker 5: ever needed it, but I remember when he got in
- 31:34Speaker 5: trouble when his dad died and didn't communicate with the
- 31:38Speaker 5: team about when he was coming back. You know, of
- 31:41Speaker 5: course they expected him to miss some days, but he
- 31:44Speaker 5: didn't tell him when he or miscommunicated when he was
- 31:48Speaker 5: coming back, and they benched him for I don't know
- 31:51Speaker 5: was first quarter. First quarter. He came back in that
- 31:54Speaker 5: second quarter like like he was going to just destroy
- 31:58Speaker 5: the world. You know, he was pissed. Sometimes it works,
- 32:03Speaker 5: you know anyway, all right? H eight five five pass
- 32:06Speaker 5: five hundred is the TPX Outline podcast at patriots dot com.
- 32:12Speaker 5: Is the email address. If you want to sign up
- 32:14Speaker 5: for the PU newsletter, go to patriots dot com slash
- 32:19Speaker 5: PU Newsletter you can sign up. Are you gonna have
- 32:22Speaker 5: a Christmas edition?
- 32:23Speaker 7: I think we'll do a mini one of two shows, right, yeah, yeah,
- 32:26Speaker 7: we'll have a little mini one kind of Thanksgiving.
- 32:29Speaker 5: Esk okay, all right, that'll be coming out Friday. We've
- 32:32Speaker 5: got calls, we've got emails coming in. We've got the
- 32:35Speaker 5: guys now today or I should say tomorrow. There's a
- 32:40Speaker 5: couple of games for on Christmas on Netflix, so today
- 32:44Speaker 5: we will pick those games, and then on Thursday we'll
- 32:47Speaker 5: have our normal you know, picks sessions, so we won't
- 32:50Speaker 5: have to hurry quite as much because we'll have already
- 32:53Speaker 5: picked two games. You're gonna be watching on Netflix on
- 32:56Speaker 5: Christmas Day?
- 32:58Speaker 6: Probably I will put it on. I will likely not
- 33:00Speaker 6: be watching, but I'll put it on, so it's like
- 33:02Speaker 6: for everybody that wants to sure background.
- 33:05Speaker 5: I'll be watching. I don't think they're going to have
- 33:07Speaker 5: the problems with streaming it that they did with the
- 33:11Speaker 5: Tyson fight.
- 33:12Speaker 6: Now, what do you think they fixed it or I
- 33:14Speaker 6: think people streaming.
- 33:16Speaker 5: I think both. I think I think they're going to
- 33:18Speaker 5: figure that out because what I understood for Tyson is
- 33:22Speaker 5: it wasn't widespread. It was so in clusters in the country,
- 33:28Speaker 5: so certainly where I was living, I had problems. Yeah,
- 33:31Speaker 5: so they'll look at those areas and they'll they'll load
- 33:35Speaker 5: balance it better.
- 33:36Speaker 7: They've done lives like the Brady Roast was live and
- 33:39Speaker 7: that seemed to go well.
- 33:40Speaker 5: Yeah, just I don't think a lot of people were
- 33:42Speaker 5: watching that live.
- 33:43Speaker 7: Yeah yeah, maybe you're not. Maybe you're right. Yeah, yeah,
- 33:46Speaker 7: I feel like even here some people weren't really like
- 33:48Speaker 7: excited to tune in that night. But then once I.
- 33:51Speaker 6: Never believed the numbers. But like the numbers that they
- 33:54Speaker 6: said for that Tyson Paul fight were like thirty sixty
- 33:58Speaker 6: six million or something like that. I don't believe it. Yeah,
- 34:01Speaker 6: I don't believe the numbers that they they tout.
- 34:04Speaker 5: But yeah, that's like one fifth of the.
- 34:06Speaker 7: Country I know, and that's not counting the people on
- 34:09Speaker 7: a leader stream.
- 34:10Speaker 5: Yeah, Deuce is here.
- 34:14Speaker 4: Look who's back from the locker room? What was the
- 34:17Speaker 4: moon where the players friendly to that? None of them
- 34:20Speaker 4: looked like Derek Henryke What was it like in the.
- 34:27Speaker 12: Like?
- 34:28Speaker 13: What was it like in the.
- 34:32Speaker 10: So nice?
- 34:33Speaker 5: So nice?
- 34:34Speaker 10: Hi, everybody doing so great?
- 34:37Speaker 7: How are you?
- 34:37Speaker 6: We're doing great? Fred and I had a nice little
- 34:39Speaker 6: spat on Christmas Eve.
- 34:41Speaker 10: Yeah, airing agreements, Yeah, no, how novel Uh yeah, just
- 34:50Speaker 10: got back from the locker room. A lot of Christmas talk,
- 34:53Speaker 10: of course, favorite movies and those kinds of things. But
- 34:55Speaker 10: from a football perspective, which interests me besides Derwin James,
- 34:59Speaker 10: who apparently is the only player on the Chargers that anybody.
- 35:01Speaker 11: Want me to talk about.
- 35:03Speaker 6: I'm described there was a football question.
- 35:05Speaker 10: There were there was, but man Kem White, he ain't
- 35:07Speaker 10: having it. He ain't having It's no just any any
- 35:11Speaker 10: good vibes coming out of a game, or you know,
- 35:14Speaker 10: any positive silver linings, you know, I mean.
- 35:18Speaker 6: You White just moved up a few notches on my books.
- 35:21Speaker 10: Season long thing it's been going on. I think I'd
- 35:22Speaker 10: mentioned it before, and of course it's it's hard when
- 35:24Speaker 10: you have Kendrick Bourne and Pop Douglas who are just
- 35:27Speaker 10: by nature happy and outgoing, and you know, but Kendrick
- 35:32Speaker 10: goes first and he talks a little bit about you know,
- 35:34Speaker 10: I think we did some things and you know, it's
- 35:36Speaker 10: just really up in the positive. And Keon comes in,
- 35:39Speaker 10: who of course has a Hall of Fame face already,
- 35:42Speaker 10: and just every question, no, no silver lines, there's nothing.
- 35:46Speaker 6: We get paid to.
- 35:46Speaker 11: Win, we're here to win.
- 35:47Speaker 10: We didn't win.
- 35:48Speaker 5: There you go.
- 35:50Speaker 11: I had a couple of no comments, thank you.
- 35:52Speaker 10: Why has stopping the run been a problem?
- 35:55Speaker 3: Is it?
- 35:55Speaker 6: Scheme?
- 35:55Speaker 11: Is a personnel? No comment? He had a couple of
- 35:57Speaker 11: no comments.
- 35:58Speaker 6: As well, kind of pulling back.
- 36:02Speaker 10: Yeah, I think I think he just didn't really to me,
- 36:05Speaker 10: the vibe was he just didn't really feel like searching
- 36:07Speaker 10: for an answer to try to tell you, well.
- 36:09Speaker 5: It's to answer that without calling out either your or
- 36:13Speaker 5: your tea.
- 36:14Speaker 6: I think it's kind of easy. It's everything we're not
- 36:17Speaker 6: we're not playing well enough.
- 36:18Speaker 10: You're a pro with this.
- 36:19Speaker 11: You know that's an easy one hand.
- 36:21Speaker 6: The no comment is put it on your Yeah, that's
- 36:24Speaker 6: why I but no comments not a good answer.
- 36:27Speaker 7: I think key On still has like that that Bill
- 36:30Speaker 7: rookie in him, and he very much wants to be
- 36:33Speaker 7: like that too, So it's kind of hard to like
- 36:36Speaker 7: be that awkward right.
- 36:37Speaker 5: Well, and also that way from day one exactly.
- 36:41Speaker 7: That's why he was like like a perfect fit bill
- 36:44Speaker 7: rookie because he didn't want to give you anything as
- 36:46Speaker 7: it was. But it's still so awkward to be thinking
- 36:49Speaker 7: on your toes to answer these questions without giving answers.
- 36:53Speaker 7: So maybe that was just like his quick default.
- 36:55Speaker 5: The only thing happy about ke On White is his clothes.
- 36:59Speaker 7: Also his his little sleeping back situation. He has you
- 37:04Speaker 7: go by his locker. Okay, you know those big they
- 37:09Speaker 7: have these big I see people on the beach with them,
- 37:13Speaker 7: but they inflict. It's like an airbed. Keon has one
- 37:19Speaker 7: posted up in front of his locker and some days
- 37:21Speaker 7: you go in there and he has a blanket on,
- 37:23Speaker 7: he have like something over his head and he's knocked
- 37:25Speaker 7: out and it's like a full bed's it's really funny.
- 37:30Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 37:30Speaker 10: So he did have one Christmas answer, which was that
- 37:33Speaker 10: he would his parents would get in presence, and he
- 37:34Speaker 10: said he would play with the box more than he
- 37:36Speaker 10: would the toy. He's like I was an outdoor kid,
- 37:37Speaker 10: I'd always end up playing with the box and being
- 37:39Speaker 10: creative with it. So he's really a unique guy. I mean,
- 37:42Speaker 10: I think you know, you look at his face, you
- 37:43Speaker 10: look at me.
- 37:44Speaker 11: He just seems like a you know.
- 37:45Speaker 10: Stereotypical kind of tough football player, but he's got a
- 37:48Speaker 10: lot of stuff going on, a lot of interest.
- 37:52Speaker 7: He's a little shy, but he's really thoughtful. Like I
- 37:55Speaker 7: really enjoyed talking to him.
- 37:56Speaker 10: Yeah, well he uh yeah, he's not happy, that's for sure.
- 38:01Speaker 10: And uh, you know, look, I Julanie Tovai, I think
- 38:03Speaker 10: last week I came in and said it was similarly
- 38:05Speaker 10: like just frustrated and you know, maybe that's more of
- 38:08Speaker 10: a defense offense kind of personality thing, but yeah, he
- 38:11Speaker 10: that definitely stood out to me today he was not
- 38:13Speaker 10: having it okay. And otherwise it was u you know,
- 38:17Speaker 10: a lot of energy in the in the locker room itself,
- 38:19Speaker 10: a lot of guys you know, chatting it up. Just
- 38:21Speaker 10: you know, you felt kind of a little bit like
- 38:23Speaker 10: they're going to get a day off tomorrow. Let's get
- 38:25Speaker 10: out there, get some get some work in and make
- 38:27Speaker 10: sure we make anybody.
- 38:28Speaker 5: To say what their plans were like is uh, you know, Dietrich,
- 38:33Speaker 5: why is hosting a bunch of people? Anything?
- 38:35Speaker 10: No, no, nothing, nothing, nothing like that that that I heard.
- 38:38Speaker 10: You know, it just sounded generally like the guys were
- 38:40Speaker 10: just reading like a Bob Hope Ditrich.
- 38:42Speaker 6: Why celebretty Christmas?
- 38:43Speaker 5: Right? Oh woa, whoa whoa.
- 38:47Speaker 11: So yeah that was what was going on in the
- 38:49Speaker 11: locker room.
- 38:49Speaker 5: And how did you make your way into the video?
- 38:52Speaker 10: Oh yeah, yeah that's where that so that's where all
- 38:53Speaker 10: the So I were there.
- 38:55Speaker 5: That's why I were there.
- 38:56Speaker 10: I was there for the first, you know, three interviews,
- 38:59Speaker 10: the only I think they only did three. So and
- 39:00Speaker 10: then made my way over to the locker room. Took
- 39:02Speaker 10: a tempt check, you know, make sure I got a
- 39:04Speaker 10: good a vibey. I mean, I got a song about it.
- 39:07Speaker 10: I got to come in here and deliver the movie.
- 39:09Speaker 5: You've got to actually be in there. I gotta be ready.
- 39:11Speaker 5: I can't just go to come back from the locker
- 39:13Speaker 5: room interview if you haven't been exactly exactly.
- 39:15Speaker 6: So.
- 39:16Speaker 10: So yeah, yeah, it's good, good, good stuff. We'll see
- 39:18Speaker 10: a little cold out there, a little snowy. Looks like
- 39:20Speaker 10: they're gonna have a fun practice.
- 39:21Speaker 5: Is it snowing now?
- 39:23Speaker 10: It's still kind of spitting out there.
- 39:26Speaker 5: All right. Eight five five PATS five hundred is the TPX.
- 39:29Speaker 6: Walk over to the Press conference Today.
- 39:31Speaker 5: And podcast at Patriots dot Com is the email address,
- 39:37Speaker 5: Speed writes in he says, yay, Alex, Hey, he says Mark,
- 39:40Speaker 5: this is the day Alex finally and successfully injected herself
- 39:45Speaker 5: into a Paul Fred I think I haven't even done that.
- 39:50Speaker 5: You did a great job.
- 39:51Speaker 7: I had to try a couple of times and eventually
- 39:53Speaker 7: broke through.
- 39:55Speaker 10: Like, are no side, he says.
- 40:02Speaker 5: Apparently Paul gets to speak in hypotheticals without being dubbed
- 40:05Speaker 5: a silly person. But anyone else who speaks and hypotheticals
- 40:09Speaker 5: is indeed a silly person. It's clear as day, Fred,
- 40:11Speaker 5: you're a hopelessly silly man. You should wear a silly
- 40:14Speaker 5: hat and continue your silly hypotheticals. Wow, I will, I
- 40:19Speaker 5: will consider.
- 40:20Speaker 6: It has nothing to do with the argument itself.
- 40:22Speaker 5: I will continue my silly hypotheticals.
- 40:24Speaker 6: But I get annoyed when things get attached to me
- 40:28Speaker 6: that are the opposite of what I said. I was
- 40:32Speaker 6: critical of the hypothetical, and I made up a ridiculous hypothetically.
- 40:38Speaker 6: I made up a ridiculous hypothetical to point out how
- 40:41Speaker 6: silly it is when you have no idea. So I
- 40:44Speaker 6: didn't here's what I said.
- 40:45Speaker 9: I didn't say. I didn't say hypothetical That's.
- 40:49Speaker 5: What I said. They were talking about Mardy Mopul and
- 40:51Speaker 5: we both all agreed that he had a good game,
- 40:54Speaker 5: maybe his best this season. And I said, for whatever
- 40:57Speaker 5: reason he hasn't been playing, maybe it lit a fire
- 41:01Speaker 5: under him and it resulted him having I think, his
- 41:04Speaker 5: best game this season. And you know, I made, you know,
- 41:09Speaker 5: hypothetical like maybe he wasn't getting it. The coaches thought
- 41:13Speaker 5: he should have been better. We know, and this is
- 41:16Speaker 5: my opinion, that he hadn't been playing well when he
- 41:19Speaker 5: did have a chance to play up until the point
- 41:21Speaker 5: where he was not dressed. So maybe, you know, that
- 41:25Speaker 5: lit a fire under him. That's all I said. Paul said,
- 41:27Speaker 5: that was silly.
- 41:29Speaker 6: I said, if we're just going to sign a reason
- 41:32Speaker 6: that he didn't play, I think, without knowing, I think
- 41:34Speaker 6: that's silly. So I said, I think if he had
- 41:36Speaker 6: played all the games, they would have won them all,
- 41:38Speaker 6: which I think is equally silly, and somehow I'm allowed
- 41:42Speaker 6: to make that.
- 41:43Speaker 5: I think what I just said was silly.
- 41:44Speaker 10: No, no, we explained it didn't didn't.
- 41:46Speaker 5: That's exactly what I said.
- 41:48Speaker 6: What do you want me to tell you? I disagree
- 41:50Speaker 6: with you. I don't know. I just don't know how, like,
- 41:53Speaker 6: but I don't know how you can make an argument
- 41:55Speaker 6: for a second year player not playing. I just don't
- 41:57Speaker 6: get it. I don't I'll never get it, so we
- 42:00Speaker 6: can move on. I don't get it.
- 42:01Speaker 5: He thinks the coaches made a mistake.
- 42:03Speaker 6: But yes, that's all I'm saying.
- 42:05Speaker 10: All right, okay, okay, and there it is, and there
- 42:07Speaker 10: it is.
- 42:08Speaker 6: I'm not telling you how well we played. I don't
- 42:10Speaker 6: recall him playing so poorly, but I don't recall him
- 42:13Speaker 6: ever doing anything remotely as well as he did on Sunday.
- 42:16Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't think he played well.
- 42:18Speaker 6: To this, I don't think anybody has played well on
- 42:20Speaker 6: the team on a consistent base.
- 42:22Speaker 5: Is pretty good. You know, you're right, he's pretty good.
- 42:26Speaker 6: That's it.
- 42:26Speaker 5: Like if I said Gonzales is playing well, you wouldn't.
- 42:28Speaker 6: I would. I would say absolutely, he's played very well,
- 42:31Speaker 6: especially especially over the last month. I think he's been outstanding.
- 42:35Speaker 10: Just just walk away, just walk away.
- 42:38Speaker 6: But that's it. I don't think you can have any
- 42:41Speaker 6: worse safety play than they've had over the last three
- 42:43Speaker 6: games before this one. And Mapu was a healthy scratch.
- 42:47Speaker 5: Right, So what does that say?
- 42:49Speaker 6: I don't know, And I'm not going to pretend to
- 42:51Speaker 6: try to make up a reason. But what does it say?
- 42:59Speaker 7: Like he's just trolling, he's no longer actually fighting, and
- 43:01Speaker 7: like he'll say something to Paul then look at me
- 43:03Speaker 7: and so egging it on.
- 43:05Speaker 6: He usually gives me the look first to let me know.
- 43:07Speaker 7: He's doing it, you know, to just not jump off
- 43:09Speaker 7: the LANs.
- 43:10Speaker 5: Chris says, this is triggering memories of parents arguing too.
- 43:15Speaker 5: It's activating my childhood trauma.
- 43:17Speaker 6: Please make something Christmas. We got to give you something.
- 43:21Speaker 7: I already deal with enough. The plate of the child
- 43:25Speaker 7: of divorce on Christmas Eve, bouncing around everywhere. Now I
- 43:27Speaker 7: have it here on the show.
- 43:29Speaker 6: Yeah, do you deal with that too?
- 43:32Speaker 10: No? No, I just sip by myself at my house
- 43:34Speaker 10: this year.
- 43:35Speaker 6: Oh where is it?
- 43:40Speaker 11: My wife and kids are going to?
- 43:43Speaker 6: Would you like to come to my Well?
- 43:45Speaker 11: Damn, Roach had a good joke.
- 43:46Speaker 10: I told him that, and he just you know, if
- 43:47Speaker 10: you if you don't have anywhere to go, I'll see
- 43:49Speaker 10: if steep bird and have any room.
- 43:51Speaker 11: I joke by it, that's good.
- 43:53Speaker 7: I wouldn't want anyone because I was like.
- 43:55Speaker 10: Oh damn, I you know, go to my sister, you know,
- 43:58Speaker 10: I mean I'm gonna have Christmas morning with my family
- 43:59Speaker 10: and then wife and kids getting on a plane.
- 44:01Speaker 7: I wouldn't even tell anyone I was alone. I would
- 44:04Speaker 7: just own everybody exists in my house all day watching,
- 44:07Speaker 7: no one bothering me.
- 44:09Speaker 10: Yeah, I mean, I just don't even like to be
- 44:10Speaker 10: in your own house A long, footballs and you underwear whatever?
- 44:14Speaker 6: Yeah, wow, Matt way more than me and Fred fighting.
- 44:20Speaker 5: Oh God, I feel like.
- 44:21Speaker 10: I need to do the the Tom Cruise and risky business,
- 44:23Speaker 10: you know, like slide to my Actually.
- 44:29Speaker 6: I would watch the two games on Netflix if I
- 44:31Speaker 6: was myself.
- 44:33Speaker 11: I'm bringing other TVs into.
- 44:34Speaker 5: The Sure you have food, you know, and everything's close.
- 44:37Speaker 11: It's gonna be a lot of order of pizza.
- 44:38Speaker 10: And yeah, my wife, God, he can keep the house neat.
- 44:42Speaker 6: I'm by myself.
- 44:43Speaker 7: Sure, I think I can going to come home stack.
- 44:50Speaker 5: Over All Right, let's get to the tp X hotline.
- 44:57Speaker 5: Christians in Virginia. What's up, Christian?
- 45:00Speaker 14: Hey, how's it going?
- 45:02Speaker 5: Okay?
- 45:02Speaker 14: Well, I got a question for you. What would it
- 45:05Speaker 14: cost for you to trade down in the draft? Now
- 45:09Speaker 14: I'm just busting.
- 45:12Speaker 6: No, I mean again after no, no, I remember, and
- 45:18Speaker 6: I just I thought that was actually a serious question,
- 45:21Speaker 6: like what would it take. I don't know. I don't
- 45:25Speaker 6: know how much.
- 45:26Speaker 5: Well, is there any other team with two first round
- 45:28Speaker 5: draft picks this year?
- 45:29Speaker 15: I don't think, right, I don't believe so at the time,
- 45:32Speaker 15: But like, you know, a two this year and a
- 45:34Speaker 15: one next year, I guess yeah would be my minimum, right, Yeah,
- 45:39Speaker 15: to switch spots.
- 45:40Speaker 14: No, but just my my other thing. Based off the
- 45:43Speaker 14: postgame show, I think. I know I've called in before
- 45:46Speaker 14: about getting another running back, and I think now after
- 45:51Speaker 14: Remonders continued fumbles like it, it might actually be really
- 45:55Speaker 14: beneficial just to, like Alex said about the other thing,
- 45:58Speaker 14: light a fire under him and kind of get him
- 46:01Speaker 14: a reason to lock in over over the off season
- 46:05Speaker 14: and get better with that.
- 46:08Speaker 6: See now, Fred, Yeah, if reminder Stevenson were a healthy
- 46:12Speaker 6: scratch on Saturday and then and then he had no No, no,
- 46:16Speaker 6: I wouldn't. But if that happened and then he had
- 46:19Speaker 6: like one hundred and eighty yards in the finale, I
- 46:23Speaker 6: think you are hypotheatal level. You're hypothetical of he got
- 46:27Speaker 6: a firal in under him, I think would make a
- 46:29Speaker 6: lot more sense.
- 46:30Speaker 5: Okay, well, I don't know that's cool, all right? Anything
- 46:36Speaker 5: else Christian.
- 46:40Speaker 10: I was I was thinking a little bit about that
- 46:41Speaker 10: call last night, and it's just like for the callers
- 46:44Speaker 10: to call in and ask us about these draft things,
- 46:47Speaker 10: it's like, I'm only respect but like and it's not
- 46:50Speaker 10: even not being prepared. It's like, we got to talk
- 46:52Speaker 10: about this down to two shows a week, like for
- 46:56Speaker 10: four months, so we can't just sit here and go
- 46:58Speaker 10: that's Travis Hunters and.
- 47:00Speaker 11: Four months.
- 47:01Speaker 7: We started the draft talk last year. So it's like
- 47:06Speaker 7: that I think gave us a little peta.
- 47:08Speaker 5: But I do think it's a good questions to ask
- 47:10Speaker 5: because a lot of people think the real play is
- 47:14Speaker 5: to move down. Okay, so what would you be willing
- 47:17Speaker 5: to move down for?
- 47:18Speaker 6: And I forget now when Christian was talking about it
- 47:20Speaker 6: was he's saying he wouldn't he wouldn't move down, And
- 47:23Speaker 6: I said, how do you know? Like you don't know
- 47:24Speaker 6: what you offer?
- 47:25Speaker 8: Right?
- 47:26Speaker 5: What's the offer like if someone's gonna give you a
- 47:28Speaker 5: king's ransom? Because you know, but that.
- 47:31Speaker 6: Was a good question. What would the king's ransom be?
- 47:33Speaker 10: I don't like the callers are going to call and
- 47:35Speaker 10: ask this. It's like, these are all the discussions and
- 47:37Speaker 10: the debates and that's like, what's gonna make the off
- 47:39Speaker 10: season fun is you know, not just being sitting here
- 47:42Speaker 10: for the next four months and just not engaging.
- 47:44Speaker 5: I just say, it's a team with a you know,
- 47:47Speaker 5: a pick around twenty oh getting there first, getting their second,
- 47:54Speaker 5: and getting their first next year. Would that be worth it?
- 47:57Speaker 8: No?
- 47:57Speaker 6: They need I need more to go.
- 47:59Speaker 11: You need more than that pick twenty now even go from.
- 48:02Speaker 6: Two to twenty.
- 48:03Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 48:03Speaker 6: Yeah, it's going to cost you a couple a couple
- 48:06Speaker 6: of you know, and then uh maybe even a player. Yeah,
- 48:10Speaker 6: you know that's a big drop that.
- 48:12Speaker 10: And that and that in that case. Yeah, well, in
- 48:14Speaker 10: that case, I'm with Christian on like, you do need talent.
- 48:17Speaker 10: Like it's not about hey, let's maximize this draft and
- 48:19Speaker 10: fill a bunch of you know holes. It's like you
- 48:21Speaker 10: need guys who move the needle, who you're gonna slide in.
- 48:23Speaker 10: And it's not like, Okay, great, here's a safety for
- 48:26Speaker 10: you know, like, just get guys that are in positions
- 48:28Speaker 10: in need that you know are going to come in
- 48:30Speaker 10: and have an inside track to play and move the
- 48:31Speaker 10: needle much.
- 48:32Speaker 11: That's the most important part.
- 48:33Speaker 5: Of Deshawn's in West Virginia. What's up to Shawns up
- 48:37Speaker 5: to Virginia and what do you say?
- 48:40Speaker 6: Virginia Virginia. But what happened to your call today your draft?
- 48:45Speaker 16: I don't know, Like I was talking, uh, I was like,
- 48:48Speaker 16: I'm gonna sure what happened.
- 48:50Speaker 7: Uh.
- 48:50Speaker 16: But basically, well, basically what I wanted to talk about
- 48:53Speaker 16: was that when it comes to the giant situation, like
- 48:57Speaker 16: I don't think people are really taking it seriously. And
- 48:59Speaker 16: when it comes to the premium we have it the joans.
- 49:02Speaker 16: When it come to quarterback, there'll be other teams behind
- 49:05Speaker 16: those other teams fighting to get.
- 49:07Speaker 6: In that spot.
- 49:08Speaker 16: Think about a quarter seconds so so would that so
- 49:11Speaker 16: would that be in the cake? That means see, other
- 49:13Speaker 16: teams would be willing to try to lead get it
- 49:15Speaker 16: to that second spot. If the case happened to be
- 49:18Speaker 16: like take for instance, the Giant wise beat the Tennessee Titans,
- 49:21Speaker 16: Tyson would be in that third spot. They don't needed
- 49:23Speaker 16: a quarterback, but it would be others there, maybe Cleveland
- 49:27Speaker 16: or whatever quarterback. So you don't want to leave repart
- 49:31Speaker 16: of them to take you to your quarterback.
- 49:32Speaker 5: I just don't know how they view the two quarterbacks
- 49:35Speaker 5: that are going to be up there. Perfect you know,
- 49:38Speaker 5: I don't know their opinion.
- 49:39Speaker 6: Like if you were if this were let's let's say
- 49:41Speaker 6: this was last year and instead of the Drake May class,
- 49:44Speaker 6: there was these two quarterbacks and you were three, would
- 49:48Speaker 6: you be clamoring to move up to two to take
- 49:50Speaker 6: one of these guys?
- 49:50Speaker 12: Right?
- 49:51Speaker 6: I wouldn't know.
- 49:52Speaker 10: And you, I mean, you know the quarterbacks a little
- 49:53Speaker 10: better than I do. I mean, I've watched some of
- 49:54Speaker 10: the non quarterback positions, but are they would you tell me?
- 49:58Speaker 10: Would there be would would Travis Hunter be more desirable
- 50:01Speaker 10: for some teams to trade up than cam Warton?
- 50:03Speaker 6: I personally would rather have Travis Hunter. But Deshaun's not wrong.
- 50:07Speaker 6: Like the Raiders or Cleveland or you know, Tennessee, one
- 50:11Speaker 6: of these teams, one of these teams might Giants might
- 50:14Speaker 6: get desper Well, the Giants are one, so they don't
- 50:16Speaker 6: know that worry about it, and I think they're going
- 50:19Speaker 6: to be one based on the way it looks. But
- 50:24Speaker 6: one of the teams that DeShawn might say, no, I
- 50:26Speaker 6: need cam Ward. I got to get up and get
- 50:28Speaker 6: one of these quarterbacks. I wouldn't. I would search for
- 50:30Speaker 6: the Sam Darnold and just wait until the draft class
- 50:34Speaker 6: is more conducive to someone like like what happened this
- 50:38Speaker 6: past year, but but you know, people do dumb things.
- 50:41Speaker 5: The counter argument to that is, like you like, if
- 50:43Speaker 5: you take the bridge quarterback to wait for a better
- 50:47Speaker 5: draft class, there's no telling that you'll be able to
- 50:50Speaker 5: get the guy that you want.
- 50:51Speaker 6: There's no guarantees. But I'm saying, if I know I
- 50:54Speaker 6: don't want this guy, yeah, now if you want them,
- 50:56Speaker 6: but don't talk yourself into him. Yeah, I guess what
- 50:58Speaker 6: I'm saying. But Deshaun's right out of all those teams,
- 51:02Speaker 6: you know, Raiders, Cleveland, Tennessee, like someone's gonna want someone.
- 51:08Speaker 6: Someone's going to say, yeah, cam Ward, I can should
- 51:10Speaker 6: do with Sanders. I could do it with him.
- 51:12Speaker 10: I feel like the Pictriots have somehow used up all
- 51:14Speaker 10: their like good luck over the last twenty years. But
- 51:16Speaker 10: that getting the third overall pick in a year with
- 51:18Speaker 10: three quarterbacks who were all, you know, pretty good.
- 51:20Speaker 5: Do you think cam Ward has the potential to be
- 51:23Speaker 5: as good as Bonnicks?
- 51:27Speaker 6: I don't think bo Nicks is all that good.
- 51:28Speaker 5: Well that's what well, But but here's the thing. Do
- 51:31Speaker 5: you think that the success of guys like bon Knicks
- 51:34Speaker 5: this year, like if you get these quarterbacks and you
- 51:37Speaker 5: put him in the right situation, they can have success.
- 51:41Speaker 6: It's a great point, and I think teams someone.
- 51:43Speaker 5: Will and they think we have that right situation.
- 51:45Speaker 6: Because because Cam Woods probably more talented than bon Knicks.
- 51:49Speaker 6: I don't know if he's as good a player, but
- 51:51Speaker 6: he's probably more talented.
- 51:52Speaker 10: Do you think the Sam Donald situation as it unfolded
- 51:55Speaker 10: this year makes teams a little bit more like encouraged
- 51:58Speaker 10: to take a free agency the.
- 52:01Speaker 5: Free agent quarterbacks that could be available.
- 52:03Speaker 6: Flip side of Kirk Cousins. He's like, so those are
- 52:07Speaker 6: two bridge guys. One of them hit and one of
- 52:09Speaker 6: them failed miserable.
- 52:11Speaker 10: And Donald's a free agent. Both of them.
- 52:13Speaker 6: Donald his cousins could be if.
- 52:15Speaker 7: Donald came up, though in like, not the best situations,
- 52:18Speaker 7: not the best organizations, you know, So it's kind of
- 52:21Speaker 7: whereas Kirk Cousins has played in for pretty good franchises,
- 52:25Speaker 7: so it's a little different there and older. But I
- 52:28Speaker 7: agree with the point.
- 52:28Speaker 10: It's funny how it offsets, like, you know, yeah, there's
- 52:31Speaker 10: so many If.
- 52:32Speaker 6: I were one of those teams, I would rather try
- 52:34Speaker 6: to see if I could get a guy, you know,
- 52:36Speaker 6: as a reclamation project and one of the one of
- 52:39Speaker 6: these two draft picks. But some Fred's right, someone will
- 52:42Speaker 6: talk themselves into it.
- 52:44Speaker 5: Scott and Wellesley, what's up? Scott?
- 52:46Speaker 13: Oh jeez, hey guys, how are you merry Christmas?
- 52:49Speaker 7: Scott, Christmas?
- 52:50Speaker 10: Merry Christmas?
- 52:51Speaker 13: I mean, but Paul looks unbelievable. It looks like you
- 52:53Speaker 13: could come a you know, start a game for bu
- 52:55Speaker 13: again the way now.
- 52:57Speaker 5: Yeah, no, he's really He's running.
- 53:00Speaker 6: All right, Scott moving along?
- 53:01Speaker 14: Yeah, all right, you guys.
- 53:04Speaker 13: You know, you know, I think I think the head
- 53:07Speaker 13: coach takes a lot of the blame for this year,
- 53:09Speaker 13: but not I think it takes too much compared to
- 53:11Speaker 13: the player personnel guys. And you know, you look back.
- 53:14Speaker 13: You know, the Globe has a good thing every week
- 53:16Speaker 13: where essentially, you know, they go through how the rookie
- 53:20Speaker 13: class did. So my question for you guys, for the panel,
- 53:23Speaker 13: for all four of you, is if you compare this
- 53:25Speaker 13: year's draft by setting me aside, because purely from a
- 53:28Speaker 13: talent analysis, there wasn't much town analysis to do. He
- 53:31Speaker 13: was the obvious third pick in the draft. So if
- 53:34Speaker 13: you look at who they picked them this year versus
- 53:36Speaker 13: the what most people think is their worst draft in
- 53:38Speaker 13: twenty nineteen. How do you think the two compare it
- 53:41Speaker 13: when you look at both Wallace, Robinson, Baker, Dial, Milton
- 53:45Speaker 13: Bill versus Nikhil Harry, Juwan, Williams, Winnovichvivich, Harris, could Juice,
- 53:51Speaker 13: ro Hosts, sit on Pow Rebellion, wepture.
- 53:54Speaker 5: That's a bad it's a bad draft. And the jury's out.
- 53:57Speaker 5: I mean, the jury's in for that one, so we know,
- 53:59Speaker 5: I mean there's still a hope that Robinson and Wallace
- 54:02Speaker 5: can play, so but it's not trending well. But at
- 54:06Speaker 5: least there's still the jury's out for this one. But
- 54:10Speaker 5: that was a terrible draft. That was awful. I mean
- 54:13Speaker 5: this one, it's it's from from the first pick right
- 54:16Speaker 5: down the line.
- 54:17Speaker 10: And you take Drake Drake out of it, I mean
- 54:19Speaker 10: right now, this one, like yeah, current he's.
- 54:22Speaker 7: Already retired, he's not even in the league anymore.
- 54:24Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 54:25Speaker 13: Ah, Well, just to follow up in that question, though,
- 54:27Speaker 13: people are so down on the head coach, and I
- 54:29Speaker 13: think Van Pelt gets an unfair break because like basically
- 54:32Speaker 13: he has got no receivers can get open, and he
- 54:34Speaker 13: doesn't have a good offensive line, and somehow it's his
- 54:37Speaker 13: fault that he can't build a great offense. My question
- 54:40Speaker 13: is this, Basically, all the free agents you brought back
- 54:42Speaker 13: here were guys who were who Bill picked, who is
- 54:46Speaker 13: deemed to be a terrible talent evaluator for the last
- 54:48Speaker 13: few years, you know, somewhat deservedly so. So if you
- 54:51Speaker 13: look at the free agency, which basically you just brought
- 54:53Speaker 13: back guys who weren't good before. I mean, you know
- 54:55Speaker 13: Tyer Chase, who Chase already gone, Joshould Chase done, guys
- 54:59Speaker 13: like that, And then you look at the draft, why
- 55:02Speaker 13: should we believe next year should be any different?
- 55:04Speaker 16: And then why should we feel good.
- 55:05Speaker 13: If we have the second or third pick that these
- 55:07Speaker 13: guys are going to make good choices?
- 55:08Speaker 10: Yep, I got I got one part of that. You
- 55:10Speaker 10: feel good at second or third pick because it's hard
- 55:12Speaker 10: to miss at that pick. If you stay there, I
- 55:13Speaker 10: feel like you're going to get a talented guy. And
- 55:15Speaker 10: it's the same thing with Drake. But I agree with
- 55:17Speaker 10: everything you're saying, Scott.
- 55:18Speaker 5: Well, but isn't that Yeah, for the second and third pick,
- 55:21Speaker 5: it's probably a little easier than these other picks. But
- 55:23Speaker 5: the problem the Patriots have is they need it's just
- 55:27Speaker 5: as important to hit on second round and third round
- 55:30Speaker 5: as it is first round.
- 55:31Speaker 6: That might be the most disappointing element of this season
- 55:34Speaker 6: is that they don't appear to have gotten a lot
- 55:36Speaker 6: of answers thanks Scott or Pee, with a lot of.
- 55:40Speaker 10: The guys that they resigned that you felt kind of
- 55:42Speaker 10: good about, you maybe feel even less good about now.
- 55:45Speaker 5: I'm not going to revise my history because I they
- 55:48Speaker 5: picked Polk and I was as just as excited about
- 55:51Speaker 5: getting him. And he's gonna be good. He had good
- 55:53Speaker 5: production in college. He's going to be, you know, a
- 55:56Speaker 5: productive guy. And if they hit on the first and
- 55:59Speaker 5: second pick, it'll be a good draft. And Polk's been
- 56:03Speaker 5: a flat out bust.
- 56:04Speaker 10: Flat out I mean, there's no other way to put it.
- 56:06Speaker 10: I mean, it's I mean, I don't know what the
- 56:07Speaker 10: numbers are right now, if he's I mean, he's still
- 56:09Speaker 10: at twelve or thirteen catches.
- 56:13Speaker 6: But here's the other part of it. And I'm a
- 56:15Speaker 6: little surprised for it to hear you say that because
- 56:17Speaker 6: your guy they traded down and passed up your guy.
- 56:21Speaker 5: No, but I know that, and I wanted McConkey. But
- 56:24Speaker 5: let's you know, Polk had good production in college too,
- 56:27Speaker 5: and I was hopeful that he come in here and
- 56:30Speaker 5: in his rookie season, you know, you know, forty fifty catches.
- 56:33Speaker 11: Yeah, and I'd be happy with that.
- 56:35Speaker 6: I would have been thrilled with it. But yeah, I
- 56:37Speaker 6: just I didn't see it. I didn't see it the
- 56:39Speaker 6: night they picked him. You really didn't neither. You evn't
- 56:41Speaker 6: seemed to talk yourselves into it the next day.
- 56:43Speaker 10: Well, I mean, look, I think initially I was a
- 56:46Speaker 10: little disappointed, and then I went back and I realized
- 56:48Speaker 10: how much I liked him, And I think really what
- 56:50Speaker 10: it was it was more about picking him right in
- 56:52Speaker 10: that spot that was you know, just it felt too high,
- 56:54Speaker 10: It felt too soon to me.
- 56:55Speaker 5: But we were happy they picked a wide receiver.
- 56:57Speaker 6: Yeah, actually that's true. Yeah, we were all happy that
- 56:59Speaker 6: they took a receiver, and I just thought there were
- 57:01Speaker 6: others that were bad.
- 57:02Speaker 10: Yeah, I did.
- 57:02Speaker 11: I mean I did the same thing Fred did.
- 57:04Speaker 10: Actually yesterday just looking back through some of my notes
- 57:06Speaker 10: from last year, and like what I wrote down about Polk,
- 57:09Speaker 10: he was the first guy I watched last year, and
- 57:11Speaker 10: you know, I just good size, not great speed, but
- 57:13Speaker 10: you know, makes tough catches, good hands like you know,
- 57:16Speaker 10: just seems like he's going to be a reliable guy
- 57:17Speaker 10: with good size that you know, conduced to a number
- 57:20Speaker 10: of things inside and it just hasn't translated.
- 57:23Speaker 11: But again, it's just so crazy how it looks.
- 57:25Speaker 5: And I I haven't really got into my uh my
- 57:29Speaker 5: wide receiver evaluations, but when I do, I'll let everyone
- 57:32Speaker 5: know who we.
- 57:32Speaker 6: Should pick this and I'm going to tell you maybe
- 57:34Speaker 6: they listen this time. Normally that kind of comment would
- 57:37Speaker 6: have elicited an argument from me, but I am going
- 57:39Speaker 6: to pay attention.
- 57:40Speaker 11: No, I know.
- 57:40Speaker 10: I mean, I was gonna say, like Fred brought up
- 57:41Speaker 10: lat McCaughey like two years and I'm like, that's not
- 57:44Speaker 10: a real person's.
- 57:45Speaker 5: Name, like Jefferson.
- 57:48Speaker 11: I'm picturing Fred though.
- 57:49Speaker 10: Like this weekend he's gonna be just like sitting by
- 57:51Speaker 10: the corner and like Lad's going to be walking on
- 57:52Speaker 10: and he's.
- 57:52Speaker 5: Like, could have been You're gonna.
- 57:57Speaker 11: You could have been my Lad.
- 57:58Speaker 5: To me, it was just so obvious that he was
- 58:00Speaker 5: going to be a productive receiver in the NFL. Not
- 58:04Speaker 5: Jamar Chase or Justin but a guy who can move
- 58:08Speaker 5: the sticks and reliable, gets open, catches the ball. You know,
- 58:13Speaker 5: you got to start somewhere. He's got to start somewhere,
- 58:15Speaker 5: and I thought he would be a good pick.
- 58:17Speaker 6: I thought he'd be a good pick too. And I
- 58:19Speaker 6: thought where he went, you know, made sense. You know,
- 58:22Speaker 6: it was a day two picky like that.
- 58:24Speaker 10: To me, that's an injury shoes. I mean, he's not
- 58:26Speaker 10: the biggest guy, he's not huge, but he just has
- 58:28Speaker 10: that shuttle shuttle down. I mean, he's just got such
- 58:32Speaker 10: nuance to his route, running the way he's just I mean,
- 58:34Speaker 10: he's kind of one of those artist guys.
- 58:35Speaker 11: And he was a nightmare at the Senior Bowl watching.
- 58:37Speaker 5: Him, like zach'son Connecticut. Oh, Zach is gone interesting all right?
- 58:43Speaker 6: So DeShawn called, uh, called me this morning when I
- 58:46Speaker 6: was on the on my.
- 58:47Speaker 5: Shoes, you're doing that four hours this morning?
- 58:51Speaker 6: Dropped So he started talking. I was like, oh, I
- 58:54Speaker 6: know this guy. And then all of a sudden, Yeah.
- 58:57Speaker 5: Paul did four hours on morning radio. He's gonna do
- 58:59Speaker 5: two hours here and then you're gonna.
- 59:01Speaker 6: Do That's why I got a few overseas.
- 59:03Speaker 5: You're gonna do some oversea podcasts when you get home.
- 59:06Speaker 6: No, but I did get an invitation for a podcast
- 59:08Speaker 6: from a listener who heard me this morning.
- 59:10Speaker 5: Everybody's got a podcast podcast?
- 59:13Speaker 6: Yeah, not the original though, thing to do?
- 59:16Speaker 9: Uh.
- 59:17Speaker 5: Mike writes in Dear Fred, Alex, Mike, and Paul, greetings
- 59:21Speaker 5: from Denver, where the Broncos are still at home. I
- 59:24Speaker 5: hope you all enjoy your own pending Christmas, even though
- 59:26Speaker 5: Paul has an irrational hatred for my beloved alma mater
- 59:29Speaker 5: and state. Did you find Mayo's comments about Cainan Wallace curious?
- 59:33Speaker 5: Seems like the logical thing to do would see, if
- 59:36Speaker 5: you have it set to have a set it and
- 59:40Speaker 5: forget it right side of and when you and Wallace
- 59:43Speaker 5: and fixed the left side this season? What did he
- 59:46Speaker 5: say about Wallace?
- 59:47Speaker 6: How is he going to get that?
- 59:50Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 59:50Speaker 6: Like if he plays the last two games, you think
- 59:52Speaker 6: you have a set and set it and forget it
- 59:54Speaker 6: right tackle.
- 59:54Speaker 5: Next year, That's what he's saying.
- 59:56Speaker 6: No, he has like think Greece Wroad.
- 59:59Speaker 10: He had serious injuries that he's still coming back from, right.
- 1:00:02Speaker 6: I mean I think in there, this isn't what like
- 1:00:04Speaker 6: so back to the like Mapoo with Fred, like this
- 1:00:07Speaker 6: is not what I'm putting on the coaches. He got hurt,
- 1:00:09Speaker 6: like significant injuries that knocked him out of it. That's
- 1:00:12Speaker 6: why he hasn't played.
- 1:00:14Speaker 10: I think it is just disappointing that we've gotten to
- 1:00:15Speaker 10: this point in the season where we've talked a lot
- 1:00:17Speaker 10: about guys like Polk, like Wallace and Mapho's the exception
- 1:00:20Speaker 10: where he's actually playing. But a lot of these guys
- 1:00:22Speaker 10: that we've talked to when you knew the season was
- 1:00:24Speaker 10: kind of lost and we're hoping that some of those
- 1:00:26Speaker 10: young players stepped up, it hasn't really happened, except for you.
- 1:00:29Speaker 6: Know, Mapo played well on Sunday, like A yeah, that
- 1:00:34Speaker 6: doesn't mean I'm like a huge believer. I just want
- 1:00:36Speaker 6: to see these guys play a little bit.
- 1:00:38Speaker 10: I think he had. I think he had a big
- 1:00:40Speaker 10: part of that big touchdown run though, too, because.
- 1:00:42Speaker 6: He might, like you over pursued and they might. I
- 1:00:44Speaker 6: just but again, it's fine, but that's why they need
- 1:00:47Speaker 6: to play. Like That's why I wouldn't sit there and say, like,
- 1:00:50Speaker 6: why is del Petis out there? Like I don't know,
- 1:00:53Speaker 6: like maybe there's something there, you know, and maybe he's
- 1:00:56Speaker 6: gonna those mistakes become less and less and we always
- 1:00:59Speaker 6: a special teams guy. So it's not exactly apples to apples.
- 1:01:02Speaker 10: To Callahan, really take all I want for Christmas is
- 1:01:04Speaker 10: you at number one overall, Andrew Callahan of the Boston Herald.
- 1:01:07Speaker 11: Everybody, I don't like it.
- 1:01:08Speaker 6: If you ask, if you a one hundred people servey
- 1:01:11Speaker 6: the top five answers on the board, that would be it.
- 1:01:14Speaker 7: And that's true because that song that it just does numbers.
- 1:01:17Speaker 10: It drags me into the great I mean, my sisters
- 1:01:20Speaker 10: loved it and we took a family trip to New
- 1:01:22Speaker 10: York when I was a kid, and they just and
- 1:01:24Speaker 10: that was like right when it came out and it
- 1:01:25Speaker 10: was just over and over and I think that spoiled it.
- 1:01:28Speaker 10: But like, have yourself a merry little Christmas, Judy Garland,
- 1:01:32Speaker 10: I mean, oh.
- 1:01:33Speaker 5: Uh, you're right.
- 1:01:35Speaker 6: I'm gonna get water.
- 1:01:37Speaker 5: I was gonna should I read a Steve from Marblehead
- 1:01:40Speaker 5: Christmas poem if it's good.
- 1:01:42Speaker 11: If it's good, well we'll find out.
- 1:01:44Speaker 5: You'll be the judge of that strop. Up twas the
- 1:01:47Speaker 5: night before Christmas, and all through the stadium the night
- 1:01:50Speaker 5: was so quiet you could hear Paul's labium. What uh.
- 1:01:54Speaker 5: The team was all snuggled in their comfy chairs while
- 1:01:57Speaker 5: visions that's okay, while visions of lighteouts were ease only prayers.
- 1:02:04Speaker 5: So far, it's off to a rocky star. The holiday
- 1:02:07Speaker 5: feast sparks some healthy debate. What would you wish for
- 1:02:10Speaker 5: to fill up your plate? Skipping the bird is nobody's
- 1:02:13Speaker 5: great loss. I won't eat dry turkey drenched in gravy
- 1:02:16Speaker 5: and sauce. Nobody likes it, by all that is holy.
- 1:02:19Speaker 5: But Paul, isn't there gravy on your Ravioli? The season
- 1:02:25Speaker 5: game cast, let's Paul demonstrate why he's held on to
- 1:02:28Speaker 5: his job since nineteen ninety eight. Don't give me cole Santa.
- 1:02:32Speaker 5: I haven't been naughty. I guess there's no new car.
- 1:02:34Speaker 5: I guess I'll walk home from Pete body to me. Yeah.
- 1:02:40Speaker 5: Alex Alex comes in for pick shows when her record's elite.
- 1:02:43Speaker 5: When asked for her secret, she just says, retweet. It's
- 1:02:47Speaker 5: hard being ugly when you look like a doll. What's
- 1:02:50Speaker 5: harder for Alex is easy for Paul. Grinding through tape
- 1:02:55Speaker 5: makes Evan ball noer. Grinding through tape makes ball makes
- 1:03:02Speaker 5: Evan ball knower. He knows pins and pulls, but not
- 1:03:05Speaker 5: his lawnmower. Losing the team made the leadership quake until brave.
- 1:03:10Speaker 5: Sir Evan took back his take. Mike's got a short
- 1:03:14Speaker 5: list to give to Chris Kringle. It's too much to
- 1:03:17Speaker 5: ask for an in game deuce jingle. They arguing, bicker
- 1:03:20Speaker 5: who's right and who's wrong. The one thing we agree
- 1:03:23Speaker 5: is Jill gives good song. Fred taking the Bengals and Jets.
- 1:03:29Speaker 5: That's outrageous, But splitting the baby is purely contagious or courageous.
- 1:03:34Speaker 5: I should say the holiday party could have been gloom
- 1:03:37Speaker 5: and doom. Fred may not know ball but he sure
- 1:03:40Speaker 5: knows ballroom. We hope this that this season is friendly
- 1:03:44Speaker 5: and Mary picks coming. We all got to hurry. I'll
- 1:03:47Speaker 5: give it a five. Yeah, I'll give it a five.
- 1:03:53Speaker 5: He's no min m.
- 1:03:54Speaker 10: At these guys. This is the worst holiday list ever.
- 1:03:56Speaker 5: I'm not going to but thank you for the effort.
- 1:03:58Speaker 5: Steve from Marlborough.
- 1:04:00Speaker 6: You blue Springsteen.
- 1:04:05Speaker 5: Nobody knows what you're talking about.
- 1:04:08Speaker 10: Do you guys have a favorite Do you have a
- 1:04:09Speaker 10: favorite holiday song?
- 1:04:12Speaker 6: Ah, that's not okay. Again, there's a lot.
- 1:04:18Speaker 7: Of racism against Italian.
- 1:04:26Speaker 6: I would go I have more classics, like the like
- 1:04:29Speaker 6: the regular you know, talking around the Christmas tree is
- 1:04:32Speaker 6: a great song.
- 1:04:36Speaker 11: I'm totally with you.
- 1:04:37Speaker 10: I love the perfect none of that it is on
- 1:04:39Speaker 10: their list.
- 1:04:39Speaker 11: There's a great.
- 1:04:42Speaker 6: And I don't know. I'm trying to think of some
- 1:04:45Speaker 6: other ones.
- 1:04:47Speaker 5: The opening theme to The Hard Everyone says it's a
- 1:04:51Speaker 5: Christmas movie.
- 1:04:52Speaker 6: I feel like agrees. I disagree with you hit me
- 1:04:56Speaker 6: in the back of the room. Yo, Yes, did you?
- 1:05:00Speaker 6: Paul is Yeah, correct time I've spoken to press conference season,
- 1:05:09Speaker 6: I'm just there to observe.
- 1:05:10Speaker 10: That you were You couldn't hold yourself back.
- 1:05:12Speaker 6: And stood first time all day.
- 1:05:14Speaker 5: I didn't cough too sweet kid writes in how has
- 1:05:17Speaker 5: key On White done so far? In your opinion? He
- 1:05:19Speaker 5: was hot initially and then I stopped noticing did as much?
- 1:05:23Speaker 5: Did teams just adjusted? H?
- 1:05:25Speaker 6: Or?
- 1:05:25Speaker 5: Is he playing pretty well overall? Dudes? This has your
- 1:05:28Speaker 5: name written all over it.
- 1:05:29Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:05:30Speaker 10: I think it's a challenge for ke On White because
- 1:05:33Speaker 10: I think every time they play a mobile quarterback, it
- 1:05:35Speaker 10: probably takes him out of what he does best, which
- 1:05:37Speaker 10: is just go fight guards, go get through guards, go
- 1:05:40Speaker 10: get to the quarterback as quickly.
- 1:05:41Speaker 11: As you can.
- 1:05:41Speaker 10: And the more of these kind of game plans, and
- 1:05:44Speaker 10: you know, he's probably seen it the last couple of
- 1:05:45Speaker 10: weeks with Josh Allen, Kyler Murray, these little mobile guys
- 1:05:48Speaker 10: where you know all week what they're talking about, keep
- 1:05:50Speaker 10: him in the pocket, you know, be disciplined. You can't
- 1:05:53Speaker 10: just run through you know, guard's face like I think
- 1:05:55Speaker 10: Keon White wants to do.
- 1:05:57Speaker 17: So.
- 1:05:57Speaker 10: I think it's just indicative of their lack of depth
- 1:06:01Speaker 10: along the defensive line and that they're not really able to,
- 1:06:04Speaker 10: you know, have guys in for certain jobs and you know,
- 1:06:06Speaker 10: maybe save key On White for third downs or so.
- 1:06:09Speaker 11: I don't know.
- 1:06:09Speaker 10: I think with the questions around Christian Barmore and what's
- 1:06:13Speaker 10: his future, maybe there's a path that if you know,
- 1:06:16Speaker 10: unfortunately Christian Bartman can't go. Like that's more of what
- 1:06:19Speaker 10: key On White is. I just I haven't seen. I mean,
- 1:06:21Speaker 10: he said it in the locker room twenty minutes ago.
- 1:06:24Speaker 10: He admitted obstrang against the run. I think there were
- 1:06:26Speaker 10: a couple of plays you can watch from last weekend's
- 1:06:29Speaker 10: game where you know, he's getting pushed out of the
- 1:06:31Speaker 10: way and they're running right by him. So it's, uh,
- 1:06:33Speaker 10: it's been a work in progress. I'd love to see
- 1:06:35Speaker 10: them get some more guys in the front seven so
- 1:06:37Speaker 10: that they can free him up a little.
- 1:06:38Speaker 5: Is it just me or does it seem like they're
- 1:06:40Speaker 5: not moving him around as much as they did earlier,
- 1:06:43Speaker 5: Like he always seems to be outside where he was
- 1:06:46Speaker 5: moving inside sometimes.
- 1:06:48Speaker 10: Yeah, I mean i'd say that, I think so generally, Yeah,
- 1:06:51Speaker 10: I mean I I you know, I still see them
- 1:06:52Speaker 10: moving him around a lot, and you know, running stunts
- 1:06:54Speaker 10: with him, and you know, there was I remember there's
- 1:06:57Speaker 10: one particular rep with him in Gockway where it just
- 1:07:01Speaker 10: didn't quite look coordinated. And that's kind of a thing
- 1:07:03Speaker 10: where in Gockway came late and that's all timing and
- 1:07:05Speaker 10: working together and.
- 1:07:07Speaker 5: And Gockway's like not that we should have had high hopes,
- 1:07:10Speaker 5: but he has.
- 1:07:11Speaker 10: Been pretty much visible, right, you know most of them,
- 1:07:13Speaker 10: you know, but again, like they just hard to get
- 1:07:16Speaker 10: the third downs. They're getting run all over. You know,
- 1:07:19Speaker 10: it's not like, oh, third and ten, here we go,
- 1:07:20Speaker 10: let's break out the package with Keyon White up the
- 1:07:22Speaker 10: middle and you know, Gockway off the edge. But I
- 1:07:25Speaker 10: see much from a gun way.
- 1:07:26Speaker 6: I think Kean White has played pretty well. I don't
- 1:07:29Speaker 6: think what happened I think in the first week is
- 1:07:33Speaker 6: kind of like the game itself. It sort of set
- 1:07:36Speaker 6: undue expectations. You know, that's not I think the way
- 1:07:40Speaker 6: Mike explained and described White's game I think is pretty
- 1:07:44Speaker 6: pretty accurate. He's not a pass rusher. He's a pocket
- 1:07:48Speaker 6: collapse right with you know, basically the power and versatility.
- 1:07:53Speaker 6: But yeah, that's how he plays, and I think he's
- 1:07:57Speaker 6: he's good at it. And the one thing that I
- 1:07:59Speaker 6: would quibble a little with Mike is I do think
- 1:08:03Speaker 6: the mobile quarterbacks, he's kind of he's valuable against those
- 1:08:07Speaker 6: because it might not represent like a sack, but like,
- 1:08:11Speaker 6: and he had one on Josh Allen the other day
- 1:08:13Speaker 6: that was probably going to be a first down, but
- 1:08:16Speaker 6: he's athletic enough that it's like a four yard game
- 1:08:19Speaker 6: on a scramble might not show up as a big play,
- 1:08:22Speaker 6: but I think I think he permitted a first down
- 1:08:24Speaker 6: with that play. And I think he does those kinds
- 1:08:27Speaker 6: of things a lot. He's I think he's good. I
- 1:08:30Speaker 6: don't think that he if people are looking for him
- 1:08:32Speaker 6: to be like this fifteen sack guy, it wasn't in
- 1:08:35Speaker 6: college sacks. That's not what he is. No.
- 1:08:37Speaker 10: I think that's a really good point, Paul, and I
- 1:08:38Speaker 10: think you're you're totally right it's surprisingly athletic for kind
- 1:08:42Speaker 10: of a big guy, but also kind of stiff though too.
- 1:08:45Speaker 11: You know, like that's what kind of makes.
- 1:08:46Speaker 6: Sacks against Cincinnati what we talked about, Yeah, where they
- 1:08:49Speaker 6: occurred around the line of scrimmage. They were like he
- 1:08:52Speaker 6: had like two and a half sacks for like minus
- 1:08:54Speaker 6: five yards total, you know, because that's where he gets
- 1:08:57Speaker 6: his sacks, like late in the down. All right, you
- 1:09:01Speaker 6: know what, it's good football talk, late in the down.

- 1:11:36Speaker 20: How much you appreciate them. I always grew up where
- 1:11:39Speaker 20: it wasn't really always about the gifts. Didn't get many
- 1:11:41Speaker 20: gifts as a kid. You know, my kids are growing
- 1:11:43Speaker 20: up totally different than me. But it is what it is.
- 1:11:46Speaker 6: Uh.
- 1:11:46Speaker 7: You know.
- 1:11:47Speaker 20: My message to the team was, look, this is a
- 1:11:49Speaker 20: huge week as far as being able to compartmentalize. When
- 1:11:52Speaker 20: we're in the building, it's all about football. When they're
- 1:11:55Speaker 20: outside the building, obviously they need to spend time with
- 1:11:58Speaker 20: their family and it's all about family at that time.
- 1:12:00Speaker 20: And being able to do that I think is good
- 1:12:02Speaker 20: to have a balanced life. You know, the unsung, the
- 1:12:06Speaker 20: unsung heroes, all the people who are doing the shopping
- 1:12:11Speaker 20: taking it off of our plates here. So just wanted
- 1:12:14Speaker 20: to give them a shout out because I couldn't imagine
- 1:12:16Speaker 20: right now going into the stores or rapping gifts. Never
- 1:12:19Speaker 20: really been really been my thing moving on. This is
- 1:12:23Speaker 20: a very good football team, uh, team that honestly reminds
- 1:12:27Speaker 20: me of like the old school way of playing, you know,
- 1:12:29Speaker 20: going out there playing good defense, solid base technique, you know,
- 1:12:33Speaker 20: being able to stop the run, having those playmakers over there,
- 1:12:35Speaker 20: and offensively, you know, they have a great quarterback in Herbert,
- 1:12:38Speaker 20: but really, you know, this team also up front, they're
- 1:12:41Speaker 20: very talented across the board up front, and I think
- 1:12:43Speaker 20: they work very well together, especially in the run game,
- 1:12:47Speaker 20: you know, and as the weather changes, you know, and
- 1:12:48Speaker 20: they're coming out this way, I expect them to try
- 1:12:51Speaker 20: to run the ball, and especially how we looked last week.
- 1:12:53Speaker 20: And so that's the challenge to the players that, look,
- 1:12:56Speaker 20: they're gonna come in. Here's no secret, they're gonna want
- 1:12:58Speaker 20: to run the ball, and we have to stop them
- 1:12:59Speaker 20: and make more one dimensional team. Good running backs obviously
- 1:13:03Speaker 20: is a huge you know Baltimore Raven type of you
- 1:13:07Speaker 20: know flavor to this entire staff and even the players.
- 1:13:10Speaker 20: You know, you look at the backs that they have,
- 1:13:11Speaker 20: you know, a couple of them came from Baltimore. You know,
- 1:13:14Speaker 20: we've you know, we've gone against Greg Roman multiple times.
- 1:13:17Speaker 8: You know over the years.
- 1:13:18Speaker 20: Is a very good coordinator, you know, very experienced, and
- 1:13:22Speaker 20: he's going to exploit your weaknesses. And I think they
- 1:13:24Speaker 20: do a good job with that defensively. You know, I've
- 1:13:27Speaker 20: been a fan of this player for for a while.
- 1:13:29Speaker 8: I always you know, he.
- 1:13:30Speaker 20: Always pops off the off the film is Derwin James.
- 1:13:33Speaker 20: I think, you know, he's just one of those guys
- 1:13:35Speaker 20: that he's a football player, and you can tell by
- 1:13:38Speaker 20: the way that he goes out there and plays, you know,
- 1:13:40Speaker 20: just his energy, enthusiasm, and the rest of the crew,
- 1:13:43Speaker 20: uh kind of follows his lead in my opinion. Not
- 1:13:46Speaker 20: to take anything away from the front guys. You know,
- 1:13:48Speaker 20: they have two very good defensive ends, and they have
- 1:13:49Speaker 20: some big guys up front that do a good job
- 1:13:52Speaker 20: too gaping, but I think it all starts with Derwin
- 1:13:54Speaker 20: and I think we have to know, like where this
- 1:13:56Speaker 20: guy is on every single play. If he's down near
- 1:13:59Speaker 20: the line of scrimmage, like he can absolutely you know,
- 1:14:02Speaker 20: rush and drop from there. If he's in the back half,
- 1:14:06Speaker 20: he can play a deep part of the field as well.
- 1:14:08Speaker 20: So uh, definitely definitely a very good player. Look for us,
- 1:14:13Speaker 20: you know, we gotta we gotta be able to stay balanced,
- 1:14:15Speaker 20: and we got to stay ahead of the sticks, stay
- 1:14:16Speaker 20: ahead of the chains, and and again this is another
- 1:14:19Speaker 20: opportunity against a team that really don't turn the ball
- 1:14:21Speaker 20: over much. Uh, for us to go out there and
- 1:14:24Speaker 20: try to and try to it after it so far
- 1:14:26Speaker 20: away men and running the weather because they're going to
- 1:14:33Speaker 20: be pretty balanced, is what I would say. I would
- 1:14:35Speaker 20: say they would I don't want to. I don't know
- 1:14:37Speaker 20: what the weather's going to be. I think it's actually
- 1:14:38Speaker 20: going to be pretty nice. I think the last I checked.
- 1:14:40Speaker 20: But we're good.
- 1:14:42Speaker 10: Sorry, you're good with the running and fallacy.
- 1:14:45Speaker 19: Then you mention that really struggled on this last game,
- 1:14:48Speaker 19: and so the two things that cap the game came
- 1:14:50Speaker 19: down to, how are you working on that going into
- 1:14:52Speaker 19: this game knowing that that's probably something that.
- 1:14:56Speaker 20: To me, it's about block destruction, it's about tackling. Like
- 1:14:58Speaker 20: the best tacklers I've ever been around always knew where
- 1:15:00Speaker 20: their help was, and so you know, not letting the
- 1:15:04Speaker 20: ball carrier get out to the edge is definitely a
- 1:15:06Speaker 20: huge part of it. And turning it back into the
- 1:15:08Speaker 20: teeth of the defense.
- 1:15:10Speaker 6: The emotion of.
- 1:15:11Speaker 5: The Arizona game versus last week, what did you see.
- 1:15:14Speaker 7: As the difference and how do you get that out
- 1:15:16Speaker 7: of your team on a weekly basis because it seemed
- 1:15:19Speaker 7: like they had that passion from the start Sunday.
- 1:15:22Speaker 20: Yeah, I would say the Arizona game, to me, at
- 1:15:24Speaker 20: least from a first standpoint, was an anomaly. It's not
- 1:15:27Speaker 20: what we put on film as far as effort. Now,
- 1:15:29Speaker 20: have we always played uh, you know, clean games? You
- 1:15:33Speaker 20: know no, I mean look at our record. But in
- 1:15:35Speaker 20: saying that, I would say they always go out there
- 1:15:36Speaker 20: and play with tremendous effort and that's what showed up
- 1:15:39Speaker 20: last week and.
- 1:15:39Speaker 8: It'll show up this week. You look, we're at home.
- 1:15:41Speaker 20: We got to protect you know, protect home home field,
- 1:15:44Speaker 20: and that's the goal.
- 1:15:46Speaker 17: It's because of a number of different guys wearing the
- 1:15:48Speaker 17: green dot since to one went down.
- 1:15:49Speaker 6: How much would challenges up them?
- 1:15:51Speaker 20: I would say, like all of those guys that have
- 1:15:54Speaker 20: had the green dot throughout the year have done a
- 1:15:56Speaker 20: good job in doing it. I mean sometimes I think,
- 1:16:00Speaker 20: you know, we make too much of a big deal
- 1:16:02Speaker 20: about the green dot. I mean literally, a coach is
- 1:16:05Speaker 20: talking to you and you just got to it's like
- 1:16:06Speaker 20: playing a game of telephone and saying that, though the
- 1:16:09Speaker 20: adjustments after that are always difficult. Look, we have some
- 1:16:13Speaker 20: good communicators on defense, you know, you have you know
- 1:16:15Speaker 20: Dugger of course, and Jelani and Ellis. All those guys
- 1:16:18Speaker 20: have done a pretty good job as far as that
- 1:16:20Speaker 20: is concerned.
- 1:16:21Speaker 13: Run.
- 1:16:22Speaker 7: I know, each turnover has its own story, and perhaps
- 1:16:27Speaker 7: there's no common.
- 1:16:28Speaker 9: Link when it comes to to Drake.
- 1:16:31Speaker 4: Is there a chance he might be doing trying to
- 1:16:34Speaker 4: do a little too.
- 1:16:35Speaker 9: Much on some of those turnovers, or you know, trying
- 1:16:39Speaker 9: to take it upon himself to produce.
- 1:16:42Speaker 20: Drake is a competitor and he's always going to try
- 1:16:44Speaker 20: to go out there and make plays. And I think
- 1:16:46Speaker 20: just the way that he's played, you know, how well
- 1:16:48Speaker 20: he's played this year, oftentimes we forget that he's a
- 1:16:50Speaker 20: rookie quarterback and those are those are lessons learning. And
- 1:16:53Speaker 20: I've been very upfront about this that the intangible with Drake,
- 1:16:58Speaker 20: you know, besides his even demeanor, has he's learned from
- 1:17:00Speaker 20: his mistakes and I expect that to continue going forward?
- 1:17:03Speaker 14: Did you right focus this following off for Canters talking
- 1:17:06Speaker 14: about and turns to turnovers, I.
- 1:17:08Speaker 9: Have to turn to funneling and it's been a tough
- 1:17:10Speaker 9: year for Remontrat there's no doubt about it.
- 1:17:12Speaker 10: Well, could you as a coach want to try to
- 1:17:15Speaker 10: prevent fumbles?
- 1:17:16Speaker 12: Is it a bntal thing or is it a technique
- 1:17:19Speaker 12: thing with holding the ball?
- 1:17:20Speaker 8: How do you how do you try to prevent that?
- 1:17:22Speaker 20: I mean it's a combination of the two. I mean
- 1:17:24Speaker 20: you have to understand how important that is. And then
- 1:17:27Speaker 20: there's also that you want to take you through the
- 1:17:29Speaker 20: whole elbow tight, eagle claw, grip, that whole thing. But
- 1:17:32Speaker 20: it is there is a there is a technique about it.
- 1:17:35Speaker 20: And then just the overall focus rod.
- 1:17:37Speaker 6: Last yet very progestal for a picture for the offense
- 1:17:40Speaker 6: because team a lot of different personnelse what's the biggest
- 1:17:43Speaker 6: difference seeing him go Rollan's.
- 1:17:46Speaker 20: Offense with Harf Yeah, I mean, look, I think he's
- 1:17:50Speaker 20: doing a good job protecting the ball. I think, h
- 1:17:52Speaker 20: what does he have three interceptions? Something low? But that's
- 1:17:55Speaker 20: I mean that's what he's doing a great job at
- 1:17:57Speaker 20: and it gives that chance that team a chance to
- 1:17:59Speaker 20: win the funs.
- 1:18:02Speaker 5: So players in the sideline where John Jones is.
- 1:18:05Speaker 17: Making the tackle by himself from Shakir and also punches.
- 1:18:09Speaker 17: It seems like that sort of evolve a few punches.
- 1:18:12Speaker 11: But thnbody used to be the.
- 1:18:13Speaker 6: Second guy coming eat it now And if you're you're
- 1:18:15Speaker 6: teaching that or.
- 1:18:16Speaker 20: Is that just an instant thing we always teach that
- 1:18:18Speaker 20: in John Jones over the last few years, has all
- 1:18:21Speaker 20: you know come up with plays like that. He just
- 1:18:24Speaker 20: has a knack for punching the ball. You know, you
- 1:18:26Speaker 20: always want to make sure that the tackle was secure.
- 1:18:28Speaker 20: I don't want to get away from that. But at
- 1:18:30Speaker 20: the same time, that's, uh, that's something that's been very
- 1:18:32Speaker 20: good at for a while now.
- 1:18:34Speaker 6: As a player coach, hobvious, do you appreciate and try
- 1:18:37Speaker 6: to get Christmas in there for your players? And was
- 1:18:40Speaker 6: there a favorite gift you got as a kid football?
- 1:18:43Speaker 13: Was anything like that?
- 1:18:47Speaker 20: I was, you know, just to go back to the
- 1:18:49Speaker 20: gift part. I still remember being a young kid. You know,
- 1:18:53Speaker 20: at the time, I think single parent home. I have
- 1:18:55Speaker 20: a great step dad. Shout out to all the stepdads.
- 1:18:57Speaker 20: But my grandfather bought us Mountain bikes and it took
- 1:19:00Speaker 20: us to the b AMX track and I was scared
- 1:19:03Speaker 20: to go up to hill.
- 1:19:05Speaker 8: It was almost like my grandfather.
- 1:19:07Speaker 20: You know, not that I was a spanking for not
- 1:19:09Speaker 20: going up to hill, but it was one of those
- 1:19:10Speaker 20: types like I better get my butt up to hell.
- 1:19:12Speaker 8: So that that was one of that was a great memory.
- 1:19:14Speaker 8: I appreciate you bringing that up. I went up that hill.
- 1:19:17Speaker 8: I went up that hill. That's the easy part. That's
- 1:19:20Speaker 8: the easy part.
- 1:19:21Speaker 20: There was a BMX track like five minutes from my
- 1:19:22Speaker 20: house and we had to ride those new bikes mountain
- 1:19:25Speaker 20: bikes to a BMX track. So all the other kids
- 1:19:27Speaker 20: had their you know, their uh you know, huffies and
- 1:19:30Speaker 20: all that stuff, and we got these big tires on.
- 1:19:32Speaker 8: Our on our mountain bikes. But it was fun.
- 1:19:35Speaker 12: Do you have a favorite Christmas movie or your kids
- 1:19:37Speaker 12: that your favorite that you like to spend.
- 1:19:41Speaker 8: I'm a huge home along guy. You know. It was
- 1:19:44Speaker 8: during my time.
- 1:19:45Speaker 20: And then the big you know, the big debate or
- 1:19:48Speaker 20: back and forth is die Hard U Christmas movie? And
- 1:19:52Speaker 20: I say it is it is.
- 1:19:56Speaker 7: What types of things are your kids asking for?
- 1:19:58Speaker 8: I had no clue.
- 1:20:00Speaker 20: And again that's why I started this off. You know,
- 1:20:02Speaker 20: I just want to think. I just want to thank
- 1:20:03Speaker 20: my wife and thank it. You know, just all the
- 1:20:06Speaker 20: people men and women who go out and do the
- 1:20:08Speaker 20: Christmas shopping and allow you know, their spouse or significant
- 1:20:11Speaker 20: other to focus on what they have to focus on.
- 1:20:13Speaker 9: Did you believe in did you believe in Santa? And
- 1:20:16Speaker 9: do your kids believe in Santa?
- 1:20:18Speaker 6: Do?
- 1:20:20Speaker 20: When I was a little kid, now, the way I
- 1:20:21Speaker 20: was worri is they wanted to make sure, you know,
- 1:20:23Speaker 20: you knew where those gifts came from. And my kids,
- 1:20:27Speaker 20: you know, I feel like at this point in time,
- 1:20:29Speaker 20: the new generation, they believe more in the lf on
- 1:20:32Speaker 20: the shelf than they do actual Santa Claus, and that
- 1:20:35Speaker 20: in itself takes time. I'm not sure if you guys
- 1:20:37Speaker 20: are familiar, like doing all the creative things with the
- 1:20:39Speaker 20: lf on the shelf, you know, pouring the cereal out
- 1:20:42Speaker 20: in the kitchen and throwing toilet paper around the house
- 1:20:45Speaker 20: and moving the l's and there you.
- 1:20:47Speaker 8: Go, same thing, same thing. The kids love it though,
- 1:20:54Speaker 8: the kids love it?
- 1:20:55Speaker 17: No, yesked you at last week ago comparisons between Rake
- 1:20:59Speaker 17: Josh Allen, You see me seting writings between Drake and
- 1:21:02Speaker 17: Justin Kilberg.
- 1:21:05Speaker 5: You know.
- 1:21:05Speaker 20: For me, it's it's probably too early to tell. What
- 1:21:07Speaker 20: I would say is you know again, I don't want
- 1:21:09Speaker 20: to get into the comparison thing. I think Drake is
- 1:21:12Speaker 20: on track to be a very special player in this
- 1:21:14Speaker 20: league and hopefully we all get a chance to see it.
- 1:21:17Speaker 8: Thanks.
- 1:21:20Speaker 19: Yes, your performance, you know, the performance like sexual excuse me,
- 1:21:26Speaker 19: Willy are you saying or something wrong with my gear?
- 1:21:28Speaker 5: So what you're saying to me, I'm sorry you're gear? Willie?
- 1:21:31Speaker 8: My stick?
- 1:21:32Speaker 1: He's not going to say stick in.
- 1:21:35Speaker 11: Front of the children, does he?
- 1:21:36Speaker 7: Hey, our friend that we were just talking about before
- 1:21:38Speaker 7: we went on there.
- 1:21:38Speaker 19: Marcopello already posted on Instagram. Get the tree down, that's over,
- 1:21:41Speaker 19: take the lights off, turn.
- 1:21:46Speaker 12: Grieving and grieve about you whatever you want.
- 1:21:49Speaker 5: I want to thank you all for doing shows Tuesday
- 1:21:52Speaker 5: and today. Most podcasts are putting out nothing or or
- 1:21:55Speaker 5: best of shows. The radio was putting their Sea team
- 1:21:58Speaker 5: out there no offense. Paul's as someone who has to
- 1:22:02Speaker 5: work tomorrow.
- 1:22:03Speaker 6: I don't want to look straight in the eye. I
- 1:22:04Speaker 6: don't want to tell him what.
- 1:22:05Speaker 12: A sheep lying no good, rotting for flushing, lowlife, snake licking,
- 1:22:10Speaker 12: dirt eating and bread over stuff, ignorant, but sucking, dog kissing, brainless, homeless, heartless, fantass,
- 1:22:18Speaker 12: bug eyed step playing. It's funny and worm aheaded sack
- 1:22:22Speaker 12: of monkey.
- 1:22:23Speaker 5: He is I know, just tuned in live for the
- 1:22:26Speaker 5: first time ever.
- 1:22:29Speaker 6: Excellent.
- 1:22:29Speaker 5: A lot of people at home Christmas welcome a boyanag
- 1:22:33Speaker 5: you know, sitting by the yule tide and uh listening
- 1:22:37Speaker 5: to su.
- 1:22:37Speaker 6: Sitting by the yule log, sitting by the Yule tide.
- 1:22:42Speaker 5: Some people are by the oceans.
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: Okay, not the river though, no river wouldn't have a
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: Yule tide.
- 1:22:48Speaker 5: Correct to everyone out there listening, have a merry Christmas.
- 1:22:52Speaker 5: That's what you celebrate.
- 1:22:54Speaker 6: Merry Christmas.
- 1:23:01Speaker 5: All right back here and Patriots Unfiltered. We've been joined
- 1:23:04Speaker 5: by Evan.
- 1:23:08Speaker 4: Evan Has we turned? Has we turned? Has we turned?
- 1:23:21Speaker 3: All?
- 1:23:21Speaker 5: Right?
- 1:23:21Speaker 9: Evan, who wasn't there, has has some to it today.
- 1:23:27Speaker 5: A lot of Christmas casualties.
- 1:23:30Speaker 9: For both the players and the media.
- 1:23:32Speaker 5: You know, let's hold because that sounds.
- 1:23:39Speaker 9: And because I'm watching him on the radio.
- 1:23:42Speaker 5: Okay.
- 1:23:44Speaker 9: Jabriel Peppers, Kyle Duggar, Marcus Jones, and Ben Brown all
- 1:23:49Speaker 9: missing from Patriots practice on Tuesday. So there are some
- 1:23:57Speaker 9: you know, some of these are explained, right, we know
- 1:24:00Speaker 9: Pepper's dugger and Marcus Jones and what they're dealing with hamstring,
- 1:24:05Speaker 9: ankle slash illness, and I think Mark Jones an ankle
- 1:24:10Speaker 9: or hip hip for Marcus Jones, Ben Brown is a mystery, mystery,
- 1:24:15Speaker 9: mystery injury. We don't know what's up with that, but
- 1:24:17Speaker 9: I will say the snaps have not been good and
- 1:24:20Speaker 9: uh yeah they they said it was the towel the
- 1:24:24Speaker 9: week before. There was no towel excuse this time. It
- 1:24:27Speaker 9: was ten degrees everything off to the side. Yeah, no,
- 1:24:30Speaker 9: not good. All game long he was having issues with
- 1:24:33Speaker 9: the snaps, So it would make sense that maybe he's
- 1:24:35Speaker 9: dealing with something because that came out of nowhere to me.
- 1:24:38Speaker 9: I thought his snaps are fine up until this.
- 1:24:40Speaker 5: Yeah, isn't that weird?
- 1:24:42Speaker 9: Yeah, some sort of.
- 1:24:43Speaker 10: Injuryron elbow brace too, it's just a month yeah yeah.
- 1:24:46Speaker 9: And he also has been walking around with a sleeve
- 1:24:48Speaker 9: on his leg for a little while now too. I
- 1:24:51Speaker 9: don't know. I think he's banged up and maybe that
- 1:24:53Speaker 9: is why the snaps have been an issue two weeks
- 1:24:55Speaker 9: in a row now, So all right, cold strange.
- 1:24:59Speaker 5: Cold strange. Possibly seeing some action this week what else outside.
- 1:25:06Speaker 9: In the stadium, in the stadium, outside in the stadium.
- 1:25:10Speaker 9: I interesting. Interesting that they've been doing that shells light day.
- 1:25:16Speaker 9: Jamichael Hasty was back. He didn't practice it all last week,
- 1:25:20Speaker 9: missed the game on Sunday. Austin Hooper was present, so
- 1:25:23Speaker 9: it looks like he avoided any injuries from that hit.
- 1:25:27Speaker 9: And one that was interesting is that Curtis Jacob's practicing.
- 1:25:31Speaker 9: He's on injured reserve. Sounded like he had a bag concussion,
- 1:25:35Speaker 9: so they started his clock, which I thought was okay,
- 1:25:38Speaker 9: peculiar people that know who that is.
- 1:25:41Speaker 5: Yeah, why do you think they were in the Bowl
- 1:25:43Speaker 5: today just doing work on the other.
- 1:25:45Speaker 9: Fields or I don't know, because we originally were told
- 1:25:48Speaker 9: it was going to be on the lower practice field
- 1:25:50Speaker 9: as it's been. I do think that there's a wind
- 1:25:54Speaker 9: element and a construction element.
- 1:25:56Speaker 7: Yeah, I bet you the wind is blowing construction Debrise
- 1:26:00Speaker 7: like right up.
- 1:26:01Speaker 9: Yeah, So that would be my guess is that the
- 1:26:03Speaker 9: construction out there, the wind. There are times that they
- 1:26:09Speaker 9: tell us that it's it's almost like you can't even
- 1:26:11Speaker 9: really accomplish anything because of how windy it can get
- 1:26:15Speaker 9: back there at times. And so you're going to be
- 1:26:19Speaker 9: playing near anyways on Saturday, So what difference isn't really.
- 1:26:23Speaker 6: Is there any snow in the practice fields? Could be maybe,
- 1:26:26Speaker 6: you know, I had a hard time because obviously it's
- 1:26:28Speaker 6: much easier to clear the bowls with the surf, right.
- 1:26:32Speaker 5: Yeah, it could be.
- 1:26:32Speaker 9: It's a good point.
- 1:26:33Speaker 5: Okay, Now, what's going on with the media.
- 1:26:38Speaker 9: Just not throwing shade at anybody, but just there wasn't
- 1:26:42Speaker 9: a lot of people there today. That's all just not
- 1:26:45Speaker 9: a notable people or yeah, you know, obviously myself, Mike Reece,
- 1:26:51Speaker 9: Christopher Price from the Boston we were all there. Shout
- 1:26:55Speaker 9: out Brian Hines, he was there practice.
- 1:26:58Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, if you don't mention the name. They weren't
- 1:27:00Speaker 5: there exactly.
- 1:27:01Speaker 9: And I know two people that have excuses. One of
- 1:27:04Speaker 9: them is is Andrew and one of them is Barth
- 1:27:06Speaker 9: because they're both on ninety eight five this afternoon. But look,
- 1:27:10Speaker 9: I don't know was there.
- 1:27:12Speaker 5: That's very poor to me.
- 1:27:13Speaker 6: There was only four people that went.
- 1:27:15Speaker 9: Like TV people too, you know, but like so under ten.
- 1:27:20Speaker 9: Well we were taking attendance and like you know, normally
- 1:27:22Speaker 9: we take Barth and I take attendance and then we
- 1:27:24Speaker 9: go and we compare notes with the rest of the contingent,
- 1:27:27Speaker 9: just to make sure we all have the same thing.
- 1:27:29Speaker 9: And I'm looking around and I'm like, oh.
- 1:27:31Speaker 5: They'll help you. Obviously, the players are off tomorrow because
- 1:27:36Speaker 5: it's Christmas. So does that mean today there's food or.
- 1:27:39Speaker 9: No no food?
- 1:27:40Speaker 5: All that just that if there was a food food,
- 1:27:43Speaker 5: there might have been bigger attendance.
- 1:27:45Speaker 9: No food.
- 1:27:46Speaker 11: There was a.
- 1:27:46Speaker 6: Small crowd at the press conference today too.
- 1:27:49Speaker 10: Yeah, Paul yelled out.
- 1:27:51Speaker 5: Okay, say just the diehards or what would you say Friday?
- 1:27:56Speaker 6: It was just it was just a.
- 1:28:00Speaker 10: Little tip of the caps.
- 1:28:02Speaker 9: Doug was at locker room. You're right, he did not,
- 1:28:05Speaker 9: He did not hang out. But yeah, you know, look,
- 1:28:09Speaker 9: it's just I was. I was alone, man, I was
- 1:28:12Speaker 9: needed help with attendance. And luckily Brian stepped up to
- 1:28:15Speaker 9: the plate and he yelled.
- 1:28:16Speaker 5: Me out, nice, good guy, Okay, all right, good stuff
- 1:28:18Speaker 5: to worry. Let's see we only have two picks today.
- 1:28:23Speaker 5: I keep thinking we heard yeah, so let's get back
- 1:28:27Speaker 5: to the TPX hotline and podcasts at Patriots dot com
- 1:28:32Speaker 5: the email address. Brett from Lemonster writes in so I
- 1:28:36Speaker 5: think very literally when Paul says we should pick the
- 1:28:39Speaker 5: most talented player available. I get that, but how literal
- 1:28:42Speaker 5: are we being Do we draft a quarterback in the
- 1:28:44Speaker 5: second round if that's the most talented player there, or
- 1:28:46Speaker 5: do we reach a little for a cornerback or a
- 1:28:48Speaker 5: running back who was the fifth best player left. For instance,
- 1:28:52Speaker 5: I took a look at a random list of best
- 1:28:54Speaker 5: players ranked and also a look at projected picks the
- 1:28:57Speaker 5: Patriots may have. These are the positions that came up
- 1:28:59Speaker 5: for the first five picks, assuming these were the most
- 1:29:02Speaker 5: talented players when the Patriots picked. Would you be good
- 1:29:05Speaker 5: with these positions being taken? First round cornerback, second round,
- 1:29:10Speaker 5: second to third round running back, third round edge, fourth
- 1:29:15Speaker 5: round outside linebacker, in fifth round linebacker.
- 1:29:19Speaker 9: What's the difference between outside linebacker?
- 1:29:21Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't know.
- 1:29:22Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, I understand his point. What I mean by
- 1:29:28Speaker 6: they can take the best player available is they're not
- 1:29:32Speaker 6: held to a position. No, I wouldn't take it. First
- 1:29:34Speaker 6: of all, that excludes quarterback. Second of all, I don't
- 1:29:37Speaker 6: think it's as much about that as you move on
- 1:29:40Speaker 6: in the draft, because early in the draft you have
- 1:29:43Speaker 6: a chance that there's a significant difference between like a
- 1:29:46Speaker 6: blue chip guy like Travis Hunter. If you think he's
- 1:29:48Speaker 6: the best player in the draft, and then like the
- 1:29:51Speaker 6: best tackle might be a huge gap, you know, like
- 1:29:55Speaker 6: in terms of their overall ability. It's it kind of
- 1:29:58Speaker 6: lessens as you go on in the draft, like players
- 1:30:00Speaker 6: are sort of clustered together as you stop me. If
- 1:30:03Speaker 6: you heard this one before, Deuce stack the board vertically
- 1:30:06Speaker 6: and horizontally right from that, Yeah, I will not be
- 1:30:11Speaker 6: stacking either way. I'll leave that to you experts.
- 1:30:14Speaker 10: Diagonally sometimes too, just for fun.
- 1:30:16Speaker 6: Well, that doesn't make any sense, Mike, if he's not
- 1:30:18Speaker 6: going to take it serious. Evan, x Y and.
- 1:30:22Speaker 10: Z axis share with you, guys.
- 1:30:25Speaker 6: But uh, it's.
- 1:30:28Speaker 9: I always say the best player available at a position
- 1:30:31Speaker 9: of need. I think the best player available thing is
- 1:30:33Speaker 9: a crock Like, you're not gonna I mean, I almost
- 1:30:36Speaker 9: that you're not gonna take a guard. Bill would take
- 1:30:38Speaker 9: a guard, So I'm not gonna say you're not gonna
- 1:30:39Speaker 9: take a guard.
- 1:30:40Speaker 5: But like, well, is there any other than quarterback? Is
- 1:30:43Speaker 5: there any position that's not a position of need on
- 1:30:45Speaker 5: this team?
- 1:30:46Speaker 9: Immediate need? Like, I don't think they need any more guards.
- 1:30:50Speaker 9: You have enough bodies there. I don't really think running
- 1:30:52Speaker 9: back is like a huge pressing need. They have two
- 1:30:54Speaker 9: guys that are capable there, But yeah, your point is
- 1:30:58Speaker 9: is valid. I mean, there's definitely a lot of holes,
- 1:31:01Speaker 9: but I just look at maybe better way of putting
- 1:31:03Speaker 9: it for them right now is at a premium position, right, Like,
- 1:31:06Speaker 9: you don't want to draft that high and be drafting
- 1:31:09Speaker 9: somebody that's not a receiver, tackle, corner, edge rusher, right
- 1:31:14Speaker 9: with quarterback obviously out of it.
- 1:31:17Speaker 5: Franklin and Baltimore. My question to the panel is do
- 1:31:20Speaker 5: you think there's something there with Booty? Not trying to
- 1:31:24Speaker 5: overhype him or anything, especially because he's been inconsistent, but
- 1:31:27Speaker 5: May does seem to have some chemistry with him, and
- 1:31:29Speaker 5: he has shown an ability for big passing plays plus
- 1:31:32Speaker 5: twenty yards. If he could just be consistent, I think
- 1:31:35Speaker 5: he can develop into a solid number three. I'm interested
- 1:31:38Speaker 5: to hear your thoughts.
- 1:31:40Speaker 10: But that's what's weird, is like using him as a
- 1:31:42Speaker 10: number three and like what capacity, So he's gonna like
- 1:31:44Speaker 10: come on occasionally and be kind of the Z receiver.
- 1:31:47Speaker 10: Like I just I look at him as nice little
- 1:31:49Speaker 10: season come back and fight your ass off again for
- 1:31:51Speaker 10: a roster spot and hopefully they do enough in free
- 1:31:54Speaker 10: agency in the draft that he's gonna have to fight
- 1:31:57Speaker 10: to retain this kind of position because that to me,
- 1:31:59Speaker 10: like everybody talks about getting that number one, guess what
- 1:32:02Speaker 10: position he's going that number one is going to play.
- 1:32:04Speaker 10: If they do get that number one, then you to
- 1:32:06Speaker 10: go play over Keijhan Bouti. So you know, look, it's
- 1:32:09Speaker 10: it's one of the few good stories of development this year.
- 1:32:11Speaker 10: But like almost every other position on the team come
- 1:32:15Speaker 10: back and fight for roster spot next year, every one
- 1:32:17Speaker 10: of them.
- 1:32:18Speaker 5: Yeah, but I do think there's something there. Like you know,
- 1:32:22Speaker 5: in a season where wide receiver where specifically has been
- 1:32:28Speaker 5: a big disappointment, he's been he's had some moments.
- 1:32:31Speaker 6: Yeah, you know, I would agree with and it's it's different,
- 1:32:35Speaker 6: but it's kind of like what I'm talking about. That's
- 1:32:37Speaker 6: why I want these guys to play. Yeah, Like you
- 1:32:40Speaker 6: easily could say, well, you know, he's a healthy scratch,
- 1:32:42Speaker 6: he's behind these but you never know until the guy plays.
- 1:32:46Speaker 6: And if you would ask me that same question in September,
- 1:32:49Speaker 6: I would have said, no way, yeah, yeah, but he
- 1:32:51Speaker 6: has been sometimes credit.
- 1:32:52Speaker 9: To him, he belongs on an NFL roster at that position.
- 1:32:55Speaker 9: That's about as far as I'm willing to go, right now,
- 1:32:58Speaker 9: but I think that he's got a knack for separating
- 1:33:02Speaker 9: late on those go routes. He has a really good
- 1:33:05Speaker 9: job of like kind of just pulling away late in
- 1:33:07Speaker 9: the when the balls in the air, which is a
- 1:33:10Speaker 9: good skill to have, especially if you're playing you know,
- 1:33:13Speaker 9: a lot of press man because the corner's back is
- 1:33:15Speaker 9: to the quarterback, so he doesn't necessarily know the ball
- 1:33:17Speaker 9: is coming, and so you can have that little late
- 1:33:20Speaker 9: separation like he had in the on the play on Sunday.
- 1:33:23Speaker 9: That that's a skill, you know, that's like a knack
- 1:33:26Speaker 9: for that. So but in general, he's not. You gotta
- 1:33:30Speaker 9: do better, I would say, But I think he belongs
- 1:33:33Speaker 9: on the team, Like I think he's an NFL receiver.
- 1:33:35Speaker 5: Yep, Travis in West Virginia. I read the last newsletter
- 1:33:39Speaker 5: that the Desault family hands out Christmas presents one at
- 1:33:42Speaker 5: a time, which I'm a big fan of. Do the
- 1:33:45Speaker 5: rest of you do the same under no circumstances. Should
- 1:33:47Speaker 5: kids be allowed to just tear into presents and go
- 1:33:50Speaker 5: wild on their own?
- 1:33:51Speaker 18: No?
- 1:33:51Speaker 5: I agree, that's how we do it, Like we kind
- 1:33:54Speaker 5: of like spread them out, you know, so like everybody
- 1:33:56Speaker 5: kind of alternates.
- 1:33:58Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, No, one opens two gifts before someone's opened, right, yeah, right.
- 1:34:02Speaker 9: Yeah, we do the same. But the problem is is
- 1:34:04Speaker 9: my sister's pile is always like fifty presents.
- 1:34:09Speaker 7: Well, you're probably such a classic boy, and you're like,
- 1:34:12Speaker 7: I don't want anything, don't get me anything, so that
- 1:34:14Speaker 7: no one knows what to get you. And then it's
- 1:34:16Speaker 7: like you have like a couple of random stuff and
- 1:34:18Speaker 7: gift cards, but your sister is probably like, here's my
- 1:34:21Speaker 7: Google list of everything I want.
- 1:34:25Speaker 9: My sister gave her list like weeks ago. My mom's
- 1:34:27Speaker 9: still asking for my list, and I'm like, mom, you
- 1:34:29Speaker 9: put me through college, like you're good, Like thank you.
- 1:34:32Speaker 5: So has anyone here asked for anything this year?
- 1:34:34Speaker 7: Like, well, I was forced to. I tried to get
- 1:34:38Speaker 7: around it, but then my mom was like, no, you
- 1:34:40Speaker 7: need to help me. I'm really stressed out, and I
- 1:34:43Speaker 7: thought she was going to have a breakdown, so I
- 1:34:45Speaker 7: helped her vacuum.
- 1:34:46Speaker 6: I asked for a C three po Lego set.
- 1:34:49Speaker 5: Nice, okaysh out right? Yeah, yeah, you'll probably get it right.
- 1:34:54Speaker 5: My mom likes matter C three po.
- 1:34:56Speaker 1: Yeah, it's huge, it's nice?
- 1:34:58Speaker 5: Is it nice? And gold too?
- 1:35:00Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 1:35:00Speaker 5: With the silver leg oh wow? Below the knee on
- 1:35:04Speaker 5: one leg.
- 1:35:05Speaker 7: Yeah, classic classic.
- 1:35:08Speaker 6: Mike doesn't like it.
- 1:35:09Speaker 11: I like it.
- 1:35:10Speaker 10: I like it. I did ask for the Orca lego set.
- 1:35:13Speaker 10: I mean, you know, it's kind of like tongue in cheek,
- 1:35:15Speaker 10: but I kind of want it.
- 1:35:16Speaker 11: But like, as an adult, get a lego. But it
- 1:35:19Speaker 11: would be pretty.
- 1:35:20Speaker 10: Cool up on my mantle somewhere if you get it.
- 1:35:23Speaker 5: Do you know my wife would not allow me to
- 1:35:25Speaker 5: put that on the mail if.
- 1:35:26Speaker 6: If if you get it, you're not allowed like kids
- 1:35:29Speaker 6: to help.
- 1:35:29Speaker 11: Oh no, that's probably part of the deal.
- 1:35:33Speaker 5: Part of the deal. I was like, you know, we
- 1:35:34Speaker 5: could build it together.
- 1:35:35Speaker 10: Be fun, but then I would keep it and put
- 1:35:36Speaker 10: it in.
- 1:35:39Speaker 9: But it's mine.
- 1:35:40Speaker 10: I didn't get you playing with your toys again, Dad,
- 1:35:41Speaker 10: like the Shark, we got Brodie.
- 1:35:43Speaker 5: Run Boston Cream has some trivia. I want to do it, Okay,
- 1:35:49Speaker 5: he said. First he says, it's incredibly hot and stump
- 1:35:52Speaker 5: ball be fair. But here we go.
- 1:35:55Speaker 8: Uh.
- 1:35:55Speaker 5: The Patriots have drafted one linebacker higher than Girard Mao
- 1:35:59Speaker 5: at tenth overall. Who was that player?
- 1:36:01Speaker 6: Chris Singleton?
- 1:36:02Speaker 5: Wow?
- 1:36:02Speaker 12: Wow?
- 1:36:03Speaker 5: For bonus?
- 1:36:04Speaker 6: Do you know the year ninety one?
- 1:36:07Speaker 5: Ninety six? No, No, that's wrong.
- 1:36:10Speaker 6: That's wrong.
- 1:36:11Speaker 10: Yeah, you'll call him Willie mack at D.
- 1:36:14Speaker 7: I was fact check Boston Cream and.
- 1:36:18Speaker 6: Chris Singleton is the answer. He was draft What year
- 1:36:20Speaker 6: did they ninety one?
- 1:36:21Speaker 5: Year did they draft Slade?
- 1:36:23Speaker 6: Ninety three?
- 1:36:24Speaker 5: Ninety three?
- 1:36:24Speaker 9: Yeah, Chris Singleton was drafted in nineteen ninety with the
- 1:36:29Speaker 9: eighth overall.
- 1:36:30Speaker 5: So already, already we're off to a.
- 1:36:32Speaker 6: Rough I knew it was in that Rod Ross, Dick
- 1:36:35Speaker 6: McPherson really bad.
- 1:36:37Speaker 11: I don't remember him at all.
- 1:36:38Speaker 6: Singleton, Yeah, he just wasn't worthy of the top ten.
- 1:36:41Speaker 5: Marcus Jones was the last player to be elected to
- 1:36:44Speaker 5: first team All Pro. Who was the last player before him?
- 1:36:48Speaker 5: Matthew Slater, that's correct, Gunnar Raschewsky, remember that league.
- 1:36:56Speaker 6: Who was the last player that actually played a position?
- 1:36:59Speaker 10: That was Tom bray Goes. That's crazy.
- 1:37:04Speaker 5: Which Patriots draft pick from a football age? Many moons?
- 1:37:08Speaker 5: Ago leads the Patriots in first Team All Pro nominations.
- 1:37:15Speaker 9: Andre Tippett incorrect said many movies.
- 1:37:20Speaker 5: John Hannah, No, you're not gonna get Ron mix.
- 1:37:30Speaker 11: Yeah, nominated.
- 1:37:33Speaker 5: Judging from the Chris Singleton this may be wrong, so
- 1:37:36Speaker 5: I don't know. Finally, the full back position has certainly
- 1:37:39Speaker 5: left its mark on American sports and culture history, but
- 1:37:43Speaker 5: possibly no more than when this beer company blank included
- 1:37:47Speaker 5: a player of such in their first ever commercial. Full
- 1:37:52Speaker 5: back full back in their first ever commercial. Who would
- 1:37:56Speaker 5: that full back be? I think I know, but.
- 1:38:00Speaker 10: I don't know.
- 1:38:00Speaker 5: Well, you should know that beer.
- 1:38:02Speaker 6: Company Miller was the great last feeling.
- 1:38:05Speaker 5: Yeah, I think it was Larry Zanka, wasn't it? Or Riggins?
- 1:38:10Speaker 5: I don't know, would Riggins be No, he wouldn't be
- 1:38:14Speaker 5: all kind of ye. So anyway, that's that.
- 1:38:21Speaker 9: So I don't think Ron Mix actually ever played for
- 1:38:23Speaker 9: the Patriots f y I so.
- 1:38:28Speaker 5: Yeah, career, that's I don't know if we can think.
- 1:38:32Speaker 9: He was drafted by the Patriots, but I think must
- 1:38:34Speaker 9: have been traded and never because he doesn't have any
- 1:38:38Speaker 9: stats with the Patriots.
- 1:38:39Speaker 10: One who was he with?
- 1:38:42Speaker 9: Mostly San Diego Diego?
- 1:38:44Speaker 5: Yeah, driven Madrid wants to know how many shows we're
- 1:38:48Speaker 5: going to be doing this week? Just today and Thursday
- 1:38:52Speaker 5: to two shows?
- 1:38:54Speaker 10: How do you manage the hurrying with two shows with picks?
- 1:38:56Speaker 10: It's like hurry stopped, then you gotta hurry again. It's
- 1:39:00Speaker 10: it's a lot.
- 1:39:01Speaker 5: Yeah, absolutely, I'm just having fun.
- 1:39:04Speaker 10: It's Christmas Eve.
- 1:39:05Speaker 6: Come on, guys, I would be with you if I could.
- 1:39:07Speaker 6: I all breathe.
- 1:39:11Speaker 7: Allergic.
- 1:39:12Speaker 9: I just keep them moving.
- 1:39:13Speaker 11: I don't want to.
- 1:39:16Speaker 6: Christmas. Christmas, take no offense.
- 1:39:19Speaker 9: It's not because you smell. It's because you're sicking.
- 1:39:21Speaker 10: My Christmas wish, my Christmas wish is that Paul can
- 1:39:23Speaker 10: taste his food tonight. That's all. I hope that you
- 1:39:25Speaker 10: can enjoy these wonderful meals tomorrow without all over everybody like.
- 1:39:31Speaker 6: This is.
- 1:39:33Speaker 9: The Seven Fishes, Paul, No, not anymore?
- 1:39:37Speaker 7: Are you I even do that.
- 1:39:38Speaker 6: I'm not a seafood guy. There will be lobster tonight
- 1:39:41Speaker 6: at the.
- 1:39:41Speaker 5: Table, but just not You don't like any seafood. Not
- 1:39:44Speaker 5: really about tuna, like tuna, sandwich tuna or like no.
- 1:39:51Speaker 6: Sandwich tuna for the most part. But I've had mahi
- 1:39:53Speaker 6: mahi to that's not bad. Sword Fish isn't bad sword fishes.
- 1:39:57Speaker 7: Fish is not very fishy.
- 1:39:58Speaker 6: About fit yourself, that's a steak.
- 1:40:00Speaker 5: I love. What about salmon? You like salmon? I don't
- 1:40:03Speaker 5: know if I've ever had I think you'd like.
- 1:40:05Speaker 6: So I'm not completely I'm not.
- 1:40:07Speaker 7: Eric like the fishy, fishy taste.
- 1:40:09Speaker 6: I'm not all out on seafood.
- 1:40:12Speaker 5: I just about clam showder.
- 1:40:14Speaker 6: I don't like Clama.
- 1:40:18Speaker 5: I think I remember you having a shrimp sauce, not
- 1:40:22Speaker 5: with a he just takes them.
- 1:40:28Speaker 6: I'm with it because I really like you know, I
- 1:40:30Speaker 6: like spicy food. Oh if I had that right now,
- 1:40:34Speaker 6: I'd stop coughing. I'll guarantee it the whole.
- 1:40:37Speaker 5: Oh yeah, I can't wait, Tim, our friend from Duncan Donuts,
- 1:40:42Speaker 5: right since I emailed last week or a couple of
- 1:40:46Speaker 5: weeks ago, and I said I thought the Patriots might
- 1:40:49Speaker 5: be flat and not ready to play against the Cardinals.
- 1:40:52Speaker 5: Unfortunately I was right. Speaking of the game, there was
- 1:40:55Speaker 5: a large Patriot contingent, and we still seem to travel
- 1:40:58Speaker 5: well to support the team. The perfect weather certainly doesn't hurt.
- 1:41:01Speaker 5: I have another prediction for this week. I think they
- 1:41:04Speaker 5: are going to put it together and win this weekend,
- 1:41:07Speaker 5: something like twenty seven to seventeen. I know the Charger
- 1:41:10Speaker 5: defense is much better than Buffalo's, but we are home
- 1:41:13Speaker 5: on a short week.
- 1:41:14Speaker 10: Do you think it'd be kind of a tough blow
- 1:41:16Speaker 10: for the Chargers, you know, who were trying to you
- 1:41:18Speaker 10: put you set it on our show, Paul of They're
- 1:41:21Speaker 10: tougher you know, like they harbor brings this element of toughness.
- 1:41:24Speaker 10: You know, I think it's a tough loss, like just
- 1:41:27Speaker 10: pretending they came in and you know, they lost to
- 1:41:29Speaker 10: the Patriots. Patriots kind of handled them a little bit.
- 1:41:31Speaker 10: Do you think it's a little bit of a blow
- 1:41:32Speaker 10: to that identity down the end where you go to
- 1:41:35Speaker 10: a three win team and then you lose and everybody's
- 1:41:38Speaker 10: saying like, yeah, that's the same old Chargers. They can't
- 1:41:40Speaker 10: go play. It gets a little cold, you know, they
- 1:41:41Speaker 10: don't maybe they don't quite have that identity.
- 1:41:44Speaker 6: What will happen now? I'll say this, they have the
- 1:41:46Speaker 6: identity of being a tough team, but they don't run
- 1:41:48Speaker 6: the ball well. They want to run the ball and
- 1:41:50Speaker 6: be physical, and they just don't do it well. Defensively,
- 1:41:55Speaker 6: They're been very good most of the year, but they
- 1:41:58Speaker 6: don't seem to be playing very well right now. So
- 1:42:01Speaker 6: I don't know if that's sort of people have figured
- 1:42:02Speaker 6: out a little bit. I don't know.
- 1:42:04Speaker 9: The toughness thing is weird to me because I agree
- 1:42:07Speaker 9: with you. I don't like watch them and think that,
- 1:42:09Speaker 9: oh this is this is a tough, physical, run down
- 1:42:13Speaker 9: your throat football team. They certainly cost playing it. Stylistically,
- 1:42:17Speaker 9: they want to be that, you know, they have the
- 1:42:20Speaker 9: two tackles, they have the full back that you know,
- 1:42:22Speaker 9: plays both sides of the ball, and like, you know,
- 1:42:25Speaker 9: they have guys that can do that sort of thing
- 1:42:27Speaker 9: and they have bigger backs. But like it's I don't know,
- 1:42:30Speaker 9: there's still Herbert, Like it's still a passing offense, you know,
- 1:42:32Speaker 9: and that sort of thing. So I am, I don't know.
- 1:42:35Speaker 9: That might just be a Jim Harbough thing.
- 1:42:37Speaker 17: Yea.
- 1:42:37Speaker 6: Why is like the fact that it's a short week,
- 1:42:39Speaker 6: Why does that helped the Patriots.
- 1:42:41Speaker 5: Well, it's even shorter for them because they have to travel.
- 1:42:43Speaker 6: But it's not a short week for them. It's a
- 1:42:46Speaker 6: short week for the Patriot.
- 1:42:47Speaker 5: Oh that's right, they had Thursday.
- 1:42:51Speaker 6: Maybe that's what he was Maybe I missed that, Okay, yeah,
- 1:42:53Speaker 6: maybe that's what he was thinking, is it's a short
- 1:42:55Speaker 6: week for the Chargers. I thought he was saying it's
- 1:42:57Speaker 6: a short week for the Patriots and that was an advantage.
- 1:42:59Speaker 6: But you're probably right. Yeah, he probably forgot that they
- 1:43:02Speaker 6: played on Thursday. Right, My bad.
- 1:43:05Speaker 5: Let's see Anthony and Seattle. I just wanted to wish
- 1:43:08Speaker 5: you all very Merry Christmas. Also, I'm not listening live,
- 1:43:11Speaker 5: so apologies that this has already been discussed, but I'd
- 1:43:14Speaker 5: like to know if Evan saw in his film review
- 1:43:17Speaker 5: that it looked like the Bills had an absolute precise
- 1:43:20Speaker 5: read on our snap count, because I noticed it live
- 1:43:23Speaker 5: and I couldn't believe how well they were tied it up.
- 1:43:26Speaker 5: Perhaps they were, they dumped it down to help out
- 1:43:29Speaker 5: our offensive line avoid penalties, but on the flip side,
- 1:43:32Speaker 5: it made it very easy for the opposing defense to
- 1:43:34Speaker 5: time up the cadence.
- 1:43:36Speaker 9: I did not notice that. I just think von Miller
- 1:43:38Speaker 9: is a lot better than Trey Jacobs. Like, I don't
- 1:43:41Speaker 9: think that it was happening really on the other side.
- 1:43:44Speaker 9: Like Vederian, though had a pretty good.
- 1:43:45Speaker 6: Game in this he was definitely better than he was.
- 1:43:48Speaker 9: Yeah, he was pretty quiet in this game. He only
- 1:43:50Speaker 9: allowed one pressure. Really, the entire offensive line was fined
- 1:43:54Speaker 9: outside of Trey Jacobs in pass protection. I mean they
- 1:43:56Speaker 9: got him on some of the blitzes and things like
- 1:43:58Speaker 9: that late, but no, I just think von Miller was
- 1:44:01Speaker 9: just giving Trey Jacobs the Yeah, yeah, I don't think
- 1:44:06Speaker 9: it was like a snap count thing.
- 1:44:07Speaker 5: No, Can I ask you a question because you grinded
- 1:44:10Speaker 5: the film and you know, the ball. Maybe I I
- 1:44:13Speaker 5: screwed up on the blog because on the play that
- 1:44:17Speaker 5: where the ball went off Remandre's hands and they recovered
- 1:44:21Speaker 5: in the end zone, I said, oh, that was all
- 1:44:23Speaker 5: on Ramondre. I didn't really look at it closely. Yeah,
- 1:44:26Speaker 5: but I was reprimanded by saying, no, it was a
- 1:44:29Speaker 5: terrible play call. There was a guy bearing down on him,
- 1:44:32Speaker 5: which I know of what did you see in that play?
- 1:44:35Speaker 5: Was it like was it meant to be a lateral pass?
- 1:44:38Speaker 5: I don't think it was, like what was.
- 1:44:40Speaker 9: Not one hundred percent though? So really I would say
- 1:44:43Speaker 9: the biggest thing was that Trey Jacobs missed the cut block.
- 1:44:45Speaker 9: So Trey Jacobs is supposed to cut russo there get
- 1:44:49Speaker 9: him on the ground. So there that way Whemandra can
- 1:44:52Speaker 9: swing you know, up the field so that the past
- 1:44:54Speaker 9: then becomes a forward pass on the screen. And they
- 1:44:57Speaker 9: actually had numbers on the screen too, and it was
- 1:44:59Speaker 9: probably going to be a decent gain if they had
- 1:45:02Speaker 9: completed the throw. I would say, out of the three
- 1:45:05Speaker 9: guys that you know were responsible, you know, Drake, Trey
- 1:45:08Speaker 9: Jacobs and Rimandra Vermandra would probably be at the bottom
- 1:45:11Speaker 9: of those three just because he gets hit in the
- 1:45:13Speaker 9: face with like a missile from Drake from like five
- 1:45:16Speaker 9: yards away, and then there's a guy that just comes
- 1:45:18Speaker 9: in and clocks him right away. I don't really know
- 1:45:20Speaker 9: what else he could have necessarily done with Drake. I mean,
- 1:45:24Speaker 9: maybe you see that and throw that one away, you know,
- 1:45:27Speaker 9: I think that's that's possible. But it is a quick hitting,
- 1:45:30Speaker 9: you know, to catch the ball throw the type of play.
- 1:45:33Speaker 5: People that on the blog they were they were blaming
- 1:45:37Speaker 5: Drake for not seeing the guy bearing down and you know,
- 1:45:41Speaker 5: eating the ball or away and a VP because it
- 1:45:45Speaker 5: was They thought it was a terrible play call in
- 1:45:47Speaker 5: that situation.
- 1:45:48Speaker 9: It's a little risky given the fact that you're backed
- 1:45:50Speaker 9: up like that to throw a screen even at best,
- 1:45:54Speaker 9: you're really throwing it like laterally that's the wrong word,
- 1:45:58Speaker 9: like horizontally towards the line of scrimmage, right, so like
- 1:46:00Speaker 9: you're flirting with it being a backward pass to begin with.
- 1:46:04Speaker 5: If the cut block is made, is it, is it
- 1:46:07Speaker 5: less risky?
- 1:46:09Speaker 9: Yeah, that's the whole that's really the set. The center
- 1:46:12Speaker 9: of the play is that you got to cut the
- 1:46:15Speaker 9: end there, get him down on the ground. Get his
- 1:46:17Speaker 9: hands out of the passing lane, and then you and
- 1:46:19Speaker 9: then you have that open passing lane and that you
- 1:46:22Speaker 9: know for for Drake, like that all happens and within
- 1:46:24Speaker 9: second of each other.
- 1:46:26Speaker 5: It doesn't look like if if you know, aside from
- 1:46:29Speaker 5: that one defender, like, did he have room to run?
- 1:46:32Speaker 17: Yeah?
- 1:46:32Speaker 9: I thought so. I mean, you never know how the
- 1:46:34Speaker 9: blocks were actually going to develop once the balls in
- 1:46:36Speaker 9: the in the receiver's hands. But I thought they had
- 1:46:39Speaker 9: it set up pretty nicely. And it's a plane that
- 1:46:41Speaker 9: Da've run a dozen times this year, you know, like
- 1:46:43Speaker 9: it's a stable screen concept of theirs out of that
- 1:46:46Speaker 9: that pony package, you know, the two running backs. But
- 1:46:50Speaker 9: it just it probably wasn't the right area of the
- 1:46:53Speaker 9: field to call it. I would agree that with that.
- 1:46:56Speaker 9: But at the end of the day, the execution is is.
- 1:46:59Speaker 10: Mostly Brian Hoyer had a good little bit on I
- 1:47:01Speaker 10: don't know if you guys caught it on social media
- 1:47:02Speaker 10: one of his shows. Got a bunch Now. He put
- 1:47:05Speaker 10: it on Drake. He put it on Drake.
- 1:47:06Speaker 6: It was all on Drake. There's no way that ball
- 1:47:08Speaker 6: is supposed to go backwards under any circumstance.
- 1:47:10Speaker 5: Well, did you think it went backwards because he was rushed.
- 1:47:13Speaker 9: No, it went backwards because the end was in the
- 1:47:16Speaker 9: passing lane, you know, so he couldn't.
- 1:47:19Speaker 6: But I just I think I went backwards.
- 1:47:23Speaker 9: Okay, I guess I could see where how is coming
- 1:47:26Speaker 9: from in terms of you know, you could decide not
- 1:47:29Speaker 9: to throw it right, like when you see that the
- 1:47:31Speaker 9: end is he doesn't get cut. But now you can't
- 1:47:34Speaker 9: put it at his feet because it's a backwards.
- 1:47:36Speaker 6: Pet but you put it forward at his feet like
- 1:47:38Speaker 6: that's right.
- 1:47:39Speaker 9: But he couldn't there though.
- 1:47:41Speaker 6: His feet were all off. His footwork was bad, he
- 1:47:44Speaker 6: said on that play, and he did talk about the
- 1:47:48Speaker 6: the Rousseau part of it, and he did say because
- 1:47:50Speaker 6: it might have been a forty yard game. Now, where
- 1:47:52Speaker 6: did Taron Johnson come from? He was supposed to get cut,
- 1:47:58Speaker 6: but Taron Johnson was in there in a plank.
- 1:48:00Speaker 9: He was there was a block set up on the
- 1:48:02Speaker 9: sideline there. He's you know, obviously playing the nickel and
- 1:48:05Speaker 9: they had a blocker on him. But once the ball
- 1:48:09Speaker 9: hit the ground, he believed.
- 1:48:11Speaker 6: You guys, notice like you know, the recovery in the
- 1:48:13Speaker 6: end zone, like we're so like when like after the
- 1:48:18Speaker 6: ball and he kind of like slipped and he fell
- 1:48:20Speaker 6: and like it was like where Evans like, uh, you know, Coster.
- 1:48:25Speaker 6: It was like it's like you couldn't get it. It's
- 1:48:27Speaker 6: like and I joked, it was like, you know, I
- 1:48:31Speaker 6: said to do start. It's like when you have that
- 1:48:33Speaker 6: dream and you can't run right, Like you couldn't get
- 1:48:35Speaker 6: the ball. I just couldn't get there.
- 1:48:37Speaker 5: Yeah, it's funny playing there.
- 1:48:39Speaker 9: Forever, horrible horrible football play all around.
- 1:48:43Speaker 5: Kevin writes in appreciate the you guys for the top
- 1:48:46Speaker 5: tier content you put out. My question is about Jahem Bell.
- 1:48:50Speaker 5: How has he looked over the course of the season
- 1:48:52Speaker 5: in practice and you think he could be a contributor
- 1:48:55Speaker 5: next season. We don't get to.
- 1:48:56Speaker 11: Really magic practice. No, I don't know, no idea that
- 1:48:59Speaker 11: you know.
- 1:49:00Speaker 5: That is a disadvantage that we have, not just us
- 1:49:02Speaker 5: all the media. Other than training camp. We don't get
- 1:49:05Speaker 5: to watch practice. I mean, Evan comes back from practice,
- 1:49:08Speaker 5: but all these season is them stretching in maybe one
- 1:49:12Speaker 5: unit drill.
- 1:49:13Speaker 9: I feel like that's a common misconception. Like I get
- 1:49:15Speaker 9: a lot of of replies on the on the X
- 1:49:19Speaker 9: machine of like, oh, how does so and so look
- 1:49:20Speaker 9: at practice? Like your guess is as good as mind playing.
- 1:49:24Speaker 6: With that particular pay or he missed a good chunker
- 1:49:26Speaker 6: camp yep. So we didn't even get a chance to
- 1:49:29Speaker 6: see him every day, you know, in that setting.
- 1:49:31Speaker 10: But he's just they've been sprinkling him in. I mean,
- 1:49:33Speaker 10: it's it's like, oh, there he is.
- 1:49:34Speaker 6: I haven't really seen anything.
- 1:49:37Speaker 9: They keep on trying to hit him on the slide
- 1:49:39Speaker 9: route off the bootleg, like you know, the route at
- 1:49:41Speaker 9: the line of scrimmage that goes across, and they just
- 1:49:44Speaker 9: they can't run those bootlegs, man Like, they just can't
- 1:49:46Speaker 9: get them off, and they just never look right. They
- 1:49:48Speaker 9: never look clean. And you know, he's supposed to have
- 1:49:51Speaker 9: like the flat to himself and have like all this
- 1:49:53Speaker 9: space out there to to you know, just catch the
- 1:49:55Speaker 9: ball and make a play with it, and they just
- 1:49:57Speaker 9: they never seem to be able to get it going.
- 1:50:00Speaker 5: All right, about ten minutes left, so just to make
- 1:50:03Speaker 5: sure that we have enough time, we'll we'll get into
- 1:50:09Speaker 5: should we do what happened last week? Or should I
- 1:50:10Speaker 5: didn't I don't have all right, we'll wait for that
- 1:50:12Speaker 5: for Thursday. Paul hasn't done that yet, so we will go.
- 1:50:18Speaker 6: Another good week for everybody, though, especially me, right, I
- 1:50:22Speaker 6: don't know.
- 1:50:23Speaker 5: Okay, that's fine. So tomorrow there's two games on Christmas.
- 1:50:27Speaker 5: They're on Netflix. If anyone uh doesn't know that already.
- 1:50:33Speaker 5: The first one starts at one o'clock. So let me
- 1:50:36Speaker 5: ask you a question before we get into the pics.
- 1:50:38Speaker 5: At one o'clock in your houses, everything opened, all the
- 1:50:43Speaker 5: presents opened by then.
- 1:50:44Speaker 11: Fred, I'm totally with you.
- 1:50:46Speaker 10: I'm totally with you.
- 1:50:47Speaker 6: I stepped out. I would co sign on everybody one
- 1:50:50Speaker 6: at a time.
- 1:50:51Speaker 10: Yeah, thank yeah, yeah, dead dead period in the day.
- 1:50:53Speaker 10: I'm ready to Just what am I doing now? The
- 1:50:55Speaker 10: kids are playing with their toys. You're kind of eating,
- 1:50:57Speaker 10: You're like Christmas is kind of I'm with you.
- 1:50:58Speaker 6: I okay, what time are you eating at one o'clock?
- 1:51:02Speaker 10: No no, no, no, no no no. We'll eat that like
- 1:51:03Speaker 10: later at night. But you've had you've had your big
- 1:51:06Speaker 10: breakfast though. We don't really eat lunch. It's something in
- 1:51:08Speaker 10: the middle of the day.
- 1:51:10Speaker 6: Jesus house.
- 1:51:10Speaker 9: Yeah, I don't care for this.
- 1:51:12Speaker 10: Oh yeah, breakfast, big deal.
- 1:51:13Speaker 5: We do my stockings breakfast and my wife makes a
- 1:51:16Speaker 5: monkey monkey monkey bread. Yeah, that's very good.
- 1:51:21Speaker 9: I could be watching the Celtics look for basketball cre
- 1:51:25Speaker 9: Yeah at five.
- 1:51:26Speaker 5: At five, So this game's at one on Netflix. It's
- 1:51:30Speaker 5: the fourteen and one Chiefs at the ten and five Steelers.
- 1:51:35Speaker 6: Kansas City by three.
- 1:51:39Speaker 10: Well, last week I'd gone with Kansas City like all year,
- 1:51:41Speaker 10: and then like I slowed then, like the first time
- 1:51:43Speaker 10: I didn't take the points for them.
- 1:51:45Speaker 11: They that's when they of course did cover.
- 1:51:47Speaker 10: And then last week I went against them, and then
- 1:51:49Speaker 10: of course they won and we mean and Paul talked
- 1:51:51Speaker 10: a little about Houston's just complete meltdown after Tank Dell's
- 1:51:54Speaker 10: unfortunate and horrific injury. So I got to get back
- 1:51:58Speaker 10: on the bandwagon. I'm going to go right back to
- 1:51:59Speaker 10: the Chiefs. I also think the Steelers are tapering off.
- 1:52:03Speaker 10: I do like what they're you know, just what Mike
- 1:52:05Speaker 10: Tom was pulled out of that team this year. But
- 1:52:07Speaker 10: I'm gonna go see Kansas City lay the points.
- 1:52:10Speaker 7: Yeah, Chiefs on Christmas hard to pick against them. I'll
- 1:52:13Speaker 7: take them to cover as well.
- 1:52:16Speaker 9: Yeah, I keep on waiting for the Chiefs to lose again.
- 1:52:20Speaker 9: It just doesn't happen. I guess I do wonder at
- 1:52:23Speaker 9: what point, though, they start to kind of cut it
- 1:52:25Speaker 9: down a little bit for the playoffs, but I'll pick
- 1:52:28Speaker 9: Kansas City in this game both ways. I think that
- 1:52:31Speaker 9: they're still rolling.
- 1:52:34Speaker 6: I'm going to take the Steelers. They've lost a couple
- 1:52:36Speaker 6: in a row. They need the game more than Kansas
- 1:52:39Speaker 6: City does. They're at Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh can still win the division,
- 1:52:45Speaker 6: which I think is a huge difference being at home,
- 1:52:50Speaker 6: so I think that they get back on track. I
- 1:52:52Speaker 6: don't think Pittsburgh is all that good. I don't think
- 1:52:54Speaker 6: they're one of the contenders with the Chiefs, the Ravens,
- 1:52:57Speaker 6: and the Bills, but I think they win this one.
- 1:53:00Speaker 6: I don't think they would beat Kansas City in a
- 1:53:01Speaker 6: playoff game, let's put it that way.
- 1:53:03Speaker 5: I was all ready to say, Evan, your weight is
- 1:53:05Speaker 5: over because the Steelers are going to win this game.
- 1:53:10Speaker 5: And Paul, this is this is I'm glad you made
- 1:53:12Speaker 5: this pick because this is what it means to have
- 1:53:14Speaker 5: a feeling for the league. This is a perfect game.
- 1:53:18Speaker 6: It's high praise.
- 1:53:19Speaker 5: This is this is a perfect game to demonstrate those
- 1:53:21Speaker 5: who have a feeling for the league.
- 1:53:24Speaker 6: That's really high.
- 1:53:25Speaker 10: That's quite a you guys made up Christmas miracle.
- 1:53:31Speaker 6: I'm a little taken everyone.
- 1:53:35Speaker 5: When the Steelers win this game. Folks don't understand what
- 1:53:39Speaker 5: a feeling the league means. So all right, but the
- 1:53:45Speaker 5: next game is at four thirty. It's on Netflix as well.
- 1:53:49Speaker 5: The ten and five Ravens are at the nine and
- 1:53:52Speaker 5: six Texans. I hope c J. Stroud is okay.
- 1:53:57Speaker 6: I'm really I'm really not happy with that he felt
- 1:53:59Speaker 6: for his guy, like the amount of like static, this
- 1:54:02Speaker 6: poor guy is taken because he was emotional.
- 1:54:05Speaker 5: Well, it was a little bit much, don't you think
- 1:54:08Speaker 5: I was? I was. I mean I watched it live
- 1:54:11Speaker 5: and I was just like, I like to guys.
- 1:54:13Speaker 6: They care about me, Like like I like Drake May's
- 1:54:16Speaker 6: reaction on the hospital ball to the Austin. Okay, I
- 1:54:19Speaker 6: like that, but I like that the guys are affected
- 1:54:22Speaker 6: by guys that took big shots.
- 1:54:23Speaker 5: I know, but guys have got hurt a lot of status.
- 1:54:26Speaker 6: C J has taken over.
- 1:54:27Speaker 5: I thought I was a little bit taken.
- 1:54:29Speaker 9: Aback literally looked like.
- 1:54:35Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean it was like going the wrong way.
- 1:54:37Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:54:38Speaker 6: Baltimore, Baltimore by five and.
- 1:54:40Speaker 10: A half, Baltimore by five and a half. Yeah, that's
- 1:54:44Speaker 10: I'm gonna I'm gonna take you. I'm gonna take Baltimore.
- 1:54:46Speaker 10: I think they got that Pittsburgh monkey off their their back.
- 1:54:49Speaker 10: They feel pretty good. Uh, I'm gonna take Baltimore win
- 1:54:52Speaker 10: this one.
- 1:54:52Speaker 7: Raven's on the road.
- 1:54:55Speaker 9: Yeah, I'm gonna take Baltimore too. I think Baltimore is
- 1:54:58Speaker 9: really good. I know that they they've had some slip
- 1:55:00Speaker 9: ups here and there this season, but I still feel
- 1:55:03Speaker 9: like they're They're in that upper edchelon of the AFC
- 1:55:07Speaker 9: with Kansas City and Buffalo.
- 1:55:09Speaker 6: I hardly wholeheartedly agree. I think they are every bit
- 1:55:12Speaker 6: the contender that Kansas City and Buffalo are in the AFC.
- 1:55:16Speaker 6: The defense is starting to play a little bit better
- 1:55:19Speaker 6: watching their game last week. A lot of talk about
- 1:55:21Speaker 6: Kyle Hamilton changing back to what traditional safety role has
- 1:55:24Speaker 6: made a huge difference for them. So I'll take the
- 1:55:27Speaker 6: Ravens to win. I will take the points though five
- 1:55:30Speaker 6: and a half at home.
- 1:55:31Speaker 5: Paul lockstep again. I'm gonna take the Ravens all the
- 1:55:34Speaker 5: reasons you guys said. I think the Ravens have figured
- 1:55:36Speaker 5: it out and I think they're ready to contend. Uh,
- 1:55:40Speaker 5: So I want them. I have them winning. But I
- 1:55:44Speaker 5: see the Texans, you know, obviously putting up a fight
- 1:55:46Speaker 5: at home. So I'm gonna split the baby, as they say,
- 1:55:50Speaker 5: and I will take those points. So those are the
- 1:55:52Speaker 5: two games scheduled for Christmas.
- 1:55:55Speaker 10: Yeah, I mean when I said that were me and
- 1:55:56Speaker 10: Paul were catching up about those games last week with
- 1:55:59Speaker 10: the Texans, and like, after that injury, it just felt
- 1:56:01Speaker 10: like any momentum, any kind of chance that they had and.
- 1:56:04Speaker 6: Houston was gonna win that game. If that was just
- 1:56:06Speaker 6: a regular touchdown and nothing happened to Tank Dell, I
- 1:56:09Speaker 6: think they were playing better than Kansas City to that point,
- 1:56:12Speaker 6: and for the rest of the game, Kansas City controlled.
- 1:56:14Speaker 10: You could just I mean, I haven't watched a ton
- 1:56:15Speaker 10: of Houston this year since the Patriots played him, but
- 1:56:17Speaker 10: you just see his confidence in Dell and I think,
- 1:56:19Speaker 10: you know, when he was emotional after he got hurt,
- 1:56:21Speaker 10: you could tell it was like, well, one part Tank
- 1:56:22Speaker 10: Dell terrible injury last year, rehab is just finally getting
- 1:56:26Speaker 10: his stride.
- 1:56:27Speaker 12: C J.
- 1:56:27Speaker 11: Stroud has now found.
- 1:56:28Speaker 10: Like an engine really, you know, to compliment their offense,
- 1:56:31Speaker 10: and so it's I think it's a tough blow for them.
- 1:56:33Speaker 10: I'd be interested see if they can bounce back, though,
- 1:56:35Speaker 10: you know, a young team that they were coming up
- 1:56:37Speaker 10: and down year they were kind of the darlings coming
- 1:56:39Speaker 10: into this year and it could be a raw rock
- 1:56:40Speaker 10: game for them, ra rock game.
- 1:56:42Speaker 9: That's a big, big game, big kind of month here
- 1:56:45Speaker 9: for Bobby Slowik, who, like everyone thought was gonna be
- 1:56:47Speaker 9: the next you know, Sean McVay, Kyle Shanahan head coach,
- 1:56:52Speaker 9: and this year it's not been so great.
- 1:56:54Speaker 6: Are gone?
- 1:56:56Speaker 8: You know?
- 1:56:57Speaker 6: So they had to pick up Deontay Johnson. Oh geez,
- 1:57:01Speaker 6: look out to play against the Ravens.
- 1:57:03Speaker 9: I actually saw somebody I won't name who was like,
- 1:57:07Speaker 9: why wouldn't the Patriots do? It's like with Deontay Johnson,
- 1:57:10Speaker 9: like did you hear what happened with him on his
- 1:57:13Speaker 9: last two teams?
- 1:57:14Speaker 5: At this point, I don't think there's much point in
- 1:57:15Speaker 5: picking anyone up. Oh my god, rhet wrights in, are
- 1:57:20Speaker 5: we gonna get a chance to see Milton in relief
- 1:57:22Speaker 5: at all these last two games? I'm not suggesting has
- 1:57:25Speaker 5: failed in any way, But with all the talk about
- 1:57:27Speaker 5: assessing young players and seeing where they are at and
- 1:57:31Speaker 5: if they are developing or showing upside for the future,
- 1:57:33Speaker 5: is there a chance Milton is developing into a serious
- 1:57:36Speaker 5: QB two or a higher quality trade chip for the
- 1:57:39Speaker 5: future sounded like Milton has done well in practice and
- 1:57:42Speaker 5: has accepted his role, taking it seriously, working hard to
- 1:57:46Speaker 5: keep the team and develop himself.
- 1:57:48Speaker 10: I don't think so unless it's out of hand either way,
- 1:57:50Speaker 10: like the Patriots or Cruisers, and.
- 1:57:52Speaker 9: They would have to make them active for the game
- 1:57:54Speaker 9: to begin with, like he hasn't been active for a
- 1:57:55Speaker 9: game officially all year long. And yeah, I did. We
- 1:58:00Speaker 9: get a lot of this in the mail bag. I
- 1:58:01Speaker 9: feel like if they're gonna have.
- 1:58:02Speaker 6: Got a call this morning about it, yeah, understand it.
- 1:58:04Speaker 9: Yeah, I don't really understand it either, Like next preseason
- 1:58:07Speaker 9: he will have his opportunities to showcase what he can
- 1:58:10Speaker 9: do and all that kind of stuff, Like he'll have
- 1:58:12Speaker 9: his he'll have his chances.
- 1:58:14Speaker 6: He's played ten games, Like why does he not need
- 1:58:17Speaker 6: the other two at twelve? Like we done? Like Drake
- 1:58:20Speaker 6: may like as nothing left to learn, nothing left for
- 1:58:24Speaker 6: him to improve on.
- 1:58:24Speaker 9: Yeah, when they were in that zone read I was
- 1:58:27Speaker 9: kind of done. I was like, Okay, we're good. That's
- 1:58:30Speaker 9: all I needed to say.
- 1:58:31Speaker 6: So you want Milton to play the last Absolutely not.
- 1:58:33Speaker 9: But I'm just saying like that, you know, that was
- 1:58:35Speaker 9: the one thing I was waiting or if.
- 1:58:36Speaker 6: You can make it through a game without turning it over,
- 1:58:38Speaker 6: how about get a win? How about winning finish a game?
- 1:58:41Speaker 6: Beat Chicago, winning a couple you know what I mean?
- 1:58:43Speaker 6: Another way, I think there's a tremendous amount winning winning
- 1:58:46Speaker 6: multiple times.
- 1:58:48Speaker 9: I'm in that. I'm in agreement with you, but I
- 1:58:50Speaker 9: don't want them to win. But I'm in agreement with
- 1:58:52Speaker 9: you other than that, Yeah.
- 1:58:53Speaker 5: You heard that.
- 1:58:54Speaker 6: I don't want them to win, absolutely not.
- 1:58:57Speaker 9: I want them to play the exact game they played.
- 1:58:59Speaker 5: It because you want that high draft for who to
- 1:59:03Speaker 5: trade it if they don't win, Like I heard, if
- 1:59:07Speaker 5: they had lost, I mean, if they had one last week,
- 1:59:10Speaker 5: they would have dropped like significantly.
- 1:59:12Speaker 9: Yeah, Like there could be a difference. There's a lot
- 1:59:14Speaker 9: of bad teams, so there could be winning a fourth game,
- 1:59:17Speaker 9: or could be the difference of like the number one
- 1:59:20Speaker 9: overall pick and like the ninth pick in the draft.
- 1:59:22Speaker 6: Right the Raiders went from like two to six or something.
- 1:59:24Speaker 10: Yeah, peer Scott asked about like you talked to the
- 1:59:26Speaker 10: ton Telesco about it.
- 1:59:28Speaker 9: So let's hard, Oh, very competitive losses. Okay, that's what
- 1:59:32Speaker 9: the Patriots need.
- 1:59:34Speaker 5: All right, Well, listen, we're gonna I hope you all
- 1:59:37Speaker 5: have a very competitive and nice Christmas tomorrow for those
- 1:59:41Speaker 5: of you celebrating competitive Yeah, you know, like who's got
