- 0:00Speaker 1: I don't know what's going on between you and my wife?
- 0:02Speaker 1: What text messages?
- 0:05Speaker 2: And is this food food stuff?
- 0:08Speaker 3: Yes? Yeah, why what's happened?
- 0:11Speaker 4: Did she cook? What did it?
- 0:15Speaker 3: She made you?
- 0:17Speaker 1: You specifically requested bishoff rice crispy.
- 0:21Speaker 4: Treats, so she sent me. Let me see if I
- 0:23Speaker 4: can find.
- 0:24Speaker 3: It off or bisc cough. I don't know. It's bisc cough,
- 0:26Speaker 3: I think right.
- 0:28Speaker 2: So, so over the years, Sue and I have had
- 0:32Speaker 2: a text chain of recipes.
- 0:36Speaker 3: Why because you don't make anything, no.
- 0:38Speaker 2: But occasionally I will pass stuff off to my husband.
- 0:43Speaker 2: And yeah, she sent me this, uh oh yeah, brown
- 0:46Speaker 2: butter bisc off rice Crispy treats. Okay, And and I
- 0:53Speaker 2: was talking to her about and this is something I
- 0:55Speaker 2: wanted to talk about later, my grandmother's pasta sauce recipe.
- 0:59Speaker 5: Now, yeah, I think that that rice Krispy trees are
- 1:04Speaker 5: the lowest form of any.
- 1:05Speaker 3: Dessert you could ever possibly do. Hear me out.
- 1:09Speaker 5: It's because when you have nothing else in the house,
- 1:12Speaker 5: and you, oh I got some mark, Oh, I got marshmallows,
- 1:14Speaker 5: and I got butter and rice Krispy trees. Okay, I'll
- 1:18Speaker 5: throw together.
- 1:19Speaker 1: Well, I would say, I would just say I I
- 1:22Speaker 1: agree with you, but these have been kicked up a notch.
- 1:25Speaker 1: And I will also say you should probably stick them
- 1:27Speaker 1: in the microwave for a few seconds to soften them up,
- 1:35Speaker 1: because I'm I'm not a fan of the ordinary rice
- 1:37Speaker 1: crispy tree, but if you do something to it, then
- 1:41Speaker 1: I'm interested.
- 1:43Speaker 2: Oh yeah, and you're right, we should put them in
- 1:48Speaker 2: the microwaves just.
- 1:49Speaker 3: A few seconds.
- 1:51Speaker 4: Well, so the bisk Off cookies. Do people know what
- 1:53Speaker 4: those are.
- 1:54Speaker 1: If they've been on a plane, they do?
- 1:56Speaker 2: Yeah, Delta Delta Airlines are the cookies that Delta Airlines
- 1:59Speaker 2: get of you.
- 2:01Speaker 4: Oh that's and it's brown butter. It's brown butter.
- 2:05Speaker 3: Brown.
- 2:07Speaker 4: So your wife and I were going.
- 2:08Speaker 2: Back and forth, and she said, you would eat something
- 2:12Speaker 2: out of my kitchen.
- 2:14Speaker 1: Because she doesn't think you eat anything out of anybody's.
- 2:17Speaker 2: I mean, I have a policy, except but I know
- 2:22Speaker 2: Sue and I've been in her kitchen, and I know
- 2:26Speaker 2: she washes her hands.
- 2:28Speaker 4: I know.
- 2:29Speaker 2: I know Sue is as fastidious as as I am
- 2:33Speaker 2: about some of that stuff.
- 2:34Speaker 3: But there is a dog in the house.
- 2:36Speaker 4: There is, but he's not on the counter.
- 2:38Speaker 1: No, he's too awkward.
- 2:41Speaker 4: Oh good, she made a lot of them.
- 2:45Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know why she sent all these. I
- 2:48Speaker 1: was I was going to say to her, don't we
- 2:49Speaker 1: get to keep.
- 2:50Speaker 4: Any do you not? Haven't at your house?
- 2:53Speaker 1: I think we have a couple of slivers, but that's it.
- 2:55Speaker 2: Those are really good because there's bisc cough mixed in
- 2:59Speaker 2: and then there's big pieces of it on the top.
- 3:01Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 3:03Speaker 1: So I think all she wanted was the was the
- 3:07Speaker 1: tomato sauce recipe, and she was held hostage well saying
- 3:11Speaker 1: make these cookies for me and you'll get it. And
- 3:13Speaker 1: then I see that you just went and posted it
- 3:16Speaker 1: on your social media anyway, so.
- 3:18Speaker 3: This so.
- 3:20Speaker 4: Let me back up. Okay, sorry, I have vice Krispy treat.
- 3:25Speaker 2: Back in December, we had some guests in the studio,
- 3:29Speaker 2: a band that was promoting an event they had, and
- 3:32Speaker 2: one of the guys in the band said, I have
- 3:35Speaker 2: your grandmother's pasta sauce recipe. Your dad and my Oh,
- 3:40Speaker 2: your dad and my dad were friends, and he gave
- 3:44Speaker 2: it to him. This is not a recipe I have
- 3:46Speaker 2: ever had, and I said, oh, that would be wonderful
- 3:49Speaker 2: if you could send it to me, and he did.
- 3:52Speaker 6: So.
- 3:53Speaker 2: Last night, Joe, my husband, made my grandmother's pasta sauce recipe.
- 4:01Speaker 3: Very simple. You could have even done it.
- 4:02Speaker 4: I could have, but he's just better at it.
- 4:05Speaker 2: And I have not had this experience in a long
- 4:10Speaker 2: time where you taste something and it instantly transports you somewhere.
- 4:16Speaker 3: Really were you? Did you cry into your pastable?
- 4:18Speaker 4: I didn't cry, but it's so it shocked me.
- 4:21Speaker 2: I haven't had my grandmother's pasta sauce in over thirty years, okay.
- 4:27Speaker 2: And he made it, and after it simmered for for
- 4:30Speaker 2: an hour, he said, here, taste it and tell me
- 4:33Speaker 2: what you think. The second that hit my tongue, I
- 4:36Speaker 2: was instantly back in her kitchen.
- 4:39Speaker 3: It was the weirdest thing with a burned tongue. And
- 4:43Speaker 3: did he use the soy sauce?
- 4:45Speaker 2: He did so, I said, so part of the recipe
- 4:48Speaker 2: and it's on my Facebook and Instagram if you want
- 4:50Speaker 2: to see it.
- 4:50Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 4:50Speaker 1: After she held my wife.
- 4:56Speaker 2: So but we had talked about it on the show,
- 4:58Speaker 2: and what the the oddest ingredient is soy sauce?
- 5:03Speaker 3: Yeah, a tablespoon I think of soy sauce.
- 5:05Speaker 2: And Bill was like, well, maybe you should use Worcestershire
- 5:09Speaker 2: sauce in it. And I mentioned that to my husband
- 5:11Speaker 2: and he said, no, we're just gonna We're just gonna.
- 5:14Speaker 1: Make it, make it the way.
- 5:16Speaker 5: That's what I would have done, is try it the
- 5:18Speaker 5: way it did, and then I would have tried it
- 5:19Speaker 5: another way.
- 5:20Speaker 2: And it was so good, Like I'm sitting here, I
- 5:24Speaker 2: can't wait to leave work to go home and have
- 5:26Speaker 2: it for lunch.
- 5:27Speaker 3: It was that well, so why is that different than
- 5:29Speaker 3: any other man?
- 5:30Speaker 4: That's true, But.
- 5:31Speaker 2: Yet Carrie, I should have I should have made sure
- 5:35Speaker 2: Sue got it privately before I publicly posted exactly.
- 5:40Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:41Speaker 5: Wow, those those rice Krispy squares are too good. I
- 5:45Speaker 5: could only eat one of them, No.
- 5:47Speaker 2: Because I have to have another one now that I
- 5:49Speaker 2: warm up just a little, just like for eight seconds
- 5:52Speaker 2: in the microwave.
- 5:54Speaker 1: Too sweet, because that's a that's a pretty quick microwave.
- 5:57Speaker 4: No, but the brown butter makes it not sweet sweet.
- 6:00Speaker 4: It gives it a little, and she did.
- 6:03Speaker 1: She sprinkled some sea salt in there too.
- 6:06Speaker 6: Is uh is a bisc off? Is that the same thing?
- 6:09Speaker 6: It's it's speculus. Yeah, yeah, so when you see the
- 6:12Speaker 6: like jars of speculus cookie butter, they call it.
- 6:16Speaker 1: Well, she had to put bishoff the actual cookies, the
- 6:20Speaker 1: cookies and and the cookie but and the cookie butter,
- 6:24Speaker 1: so that was in there too, Hey Bill, Bill Frost
- 6:27Speaker 1: is here.
- 6:27Speaker 3: Have a have a bisc coff rice, crispy.
- 6:30Speaker 4: Treat Sue made. Sue made treat. Thank you Sue.
- 6:35Speaker 1: Well, okay, now we have to make tomato sauce.
- 6:37Speaker 4: Please, all right, tell me what you think, okay,
