- 0:05Speaker 1: NFL Now is a production of the NFL in partnership
- 0:08Speaker 1: with I Heart Radio. The Eagles are still undefeated, might
- 0:20Speaker 1: we have a running back controversy in Dallas? And the
- 0:23Speaker 1: trade deadline is Tuesday, four pm Eastern Time. All of
- 0:27Speaker 1: that coming up on this hour Happy Halloween of NFL
- 0:30Speaker 1: Now on NFL Network. From our newsroom in Los Angeles.
- 0:33Speaker 1: My name is Andrews. C Aciliana. Were also live in
- 0:36Speaker 1: Cleveland the head of the end of week eight. The
- 0:38Speaker 1: two teams that were orange, the Browns and the Bengals,
- 0:41Speaker 1: and Monday Night Football that is a little bit later
- 0:44Speaker 1: we open Monday Show. We often do it this way
- 0:47Speaker 1: with some injury news and our insiders and Rappaport and
- 0:51Speaker 1: Tom Bellisero with us now or Arth Vader. I should say,
- 0:57Speaker 1: you guys said we you guys said we were doing
- 1:00Speaker 1: costumes this hour now Now, I just feel silly. Tom Belather,
- 1:08Speaker 1: I don't know if you know that. Um no, no, okay?
- 1:13Speaker 1: Uh Cooper cup Sean McVeigh talks in a couple of hours,
- 1:17Speaker 1: and once he gets you know, Andrews what one might
- 1:20Speaker 1: consider a television professional, at least he considers himself that
- 1:23Speaker 1: I would say, you throw him up a little bit. Tom.
- 1:25Speaker 1: I did not know he was coming out as Anakin Skywalker,
- 1:30Speaker 1: Vader Andrew. One thing that happens in TV is something
- 1:33Speaker 1: just gave it away you're not ready for and you
- 1:35Speaker 1: actually need to adapt. You were unable to do that.
- 1:38Speaker 1: I'll take over from here. It's like you awkwardly this
- 1:41Speaker 1: morning trying to be funny, saying like, why are like
- 1:43Speaker 1: I should be in a costume? I was funny. We
- 1:47Speaker 1: call that actually funny. Anyway, let's talk about Cooper Cup.
- 1:51Speaker 1: My understandings, he suffered a regular low ankle sprain yesterday,
- 1:56Speaker 1: real real, late in the game. Sean McVeigh saying, basically
- 1:58Speaker 1: it was his fault for having Cooper Cup out there,
- 2:00Speaker 1: given the score, given the time. Regardless from what I understand,
- 2:03Speaker 1: Cooper Cup believes that he has dodged a bullet, that
- 2:06Speaker 1: he is going to eventually be okay, and I would
- 2:08Speaker 1: put his ankle injury in the category of day to
- 2:12Speaker 1: day or questionable or something where he's got a chance
- 2:15Speaker 1: to play. But you need to see how it responds,
- 2:17Speaker 1: how swollen it gets, how it takes to rehab. It
- 2:20Speaker 1: seems like overall the Rams star receiver is going to
- 2:23Speaker 1: be fine, but we need to see how the week
- 2:25Speaker 1: goes before we determine his availability. Meanwhile, Ian the Lions
- 2:31Speaker 1: have made a change on their coaching staff, Dan Campbell
- 2:35Speaker 1: firing their defensive bass coach and passing and coordinator Aubrey
- 2:38Speaker 1: Pleasant following Sunday's loss to the Dolphins. Now, certainly Pleasant
- 2:43Speaker 1: is somebody who's been well regarded within the league for
- 2:45Speaker 1: a long time, dating back to his days on the
- 2:47Speaker 1: staff with Sean mcveigh's rams, but certainly understandable the Lions
- 2:51Speaker 1: felt like they had to do something after the Dolphins
- 2:54Speaker 1: came back yesterday to a tongue follow a Tyreek Hill
- 2:57Speaker 1: have made a lot of people look bad, but thrown
- 2:59Speaker 1: for three d sixty nine yards in that game, another
- 3:02Speaker 1: high scoring loss where the offense for the Lions did
- 3:04Speaker 1: it part, not the defense. Campbell has expressed public confidence
- 3:08Speaker 1: in Aaron Glenn consistently throughout the season, So it is
- 3:11Speaker 1: Aubrey Pleasant who ends up being the one. Let's go
- 3:13Speaker 1: to the man tough one. Aubrey Pleasant fired today, the
- 3:17Speaker 1: DBS coach for the Lions. The defense that yesterday forced
- 3:21Speaker 1: to punt in the second half for the first time
- 3:23Speaker 1: at home since Week two. True story twenty two straight
- 3:26Speaker 1: possessions that defense had not forced a punt at home. Tomorrow,
- 3:31Speaker 1: I and four pm Eastern is the trade deadline. Who
- 3:35Speaker 1: might be buying at the deadline. I'll give you a
- 3:39Speaker 1: couple of teams to watch. We'll see how many of
- 3:40Speaker 1: these trades actually having a lot of conversation, A lot
- 3:43Speaker 1: of conversation going on now. It just didn't sense like
- 3:45Speaker 1: there's any you know, deals that are imminent. But we'll see.
- 3:48Speaker 1: This could change on it. Don a couple of teams
- 3:50Speaker 1: to watch. The Baltimore Ravens are always aggressive. General manager
- 3:53Speaker 1: Erica Costa has never met a trade he wouldn't at
- 3:55Speaker 1: least consider UM. So I would believe they are making
- 3:59Speaker 1: calls specifically when it comes to potentially adding to their defense.
- 4:02Speaker 1: That would not be a surprise the Los Angeles Rams.
- 4:05Speaker 1: I don't know if you guys know this, but the
- 4:06Speaker 1: way the Rams feel about their picks is a way
- 4:09Speaker 1: that we simply cannot stayed on television with children watching UM.
- 4:12Speaker 1: That is continuing to be the way they feel. We
- 4:15Speaker 1: know they have some potential pass rushing needs, some potential
- 4:18Speaker 1: running back need because they were in so heavy on
- 4:20Speaker 1: the Christian McCaffrey deal. Uh, that would be another team
- 4:22Speaker 1: to watch. The Green Bay Packers have a big time
- 4:24Speaker 1: needed receiver, a little bit of Anita tight end. That
- 4:27Speaker 1: would be another spot to watch. Although if they you know,
- 4:30Speaker 1: mortgage the future and add a receiver, is that really
- 4:33Speaker 1: worth it considering being three and five? And then the
- 4:36Speaker 1: Philadelphia Eagles lost Jordan Davis yesterday. Do they choose to
- 4:39Speaker 1: fill that whole on defense via trade? That also to
- 4:42Speaker 1: be determined. Okay, so those are the buyers the sellers, Tom,
- 4:45Speaker 1: I mean, I know a lot kind of was hanging
- 4:47Speaker 1: to the air. Some people thought as to some of
- 4:49Speaker 1: the outcomes yesterday. Brown's play tonight, Broncos one yesterday, Who's
- 4:54Speaker 1: selling later? There really aren't true sellers in terms of
- 4:58Speaker 1: fire sales right now within the NFL. Obviously, we've seen
- 5:01Speaker 1: the Panthers make some moves over the past couple of
- 5:03Speaker 1: weeks since dismissing head coach Matt Rule. But certainly any
- 5:07Speaker 1: team that is really at this point largely out of
- 5:09Speaker 1: the playoff picture is going to be getting calls. So
- 5:11Speaker 1: the Jaguars certainly would continue to get calls as they
- 5:14Speaker 1: have been on Josh Allen. As we've talked about previously
- 5:17Speaker 1: their stand up pass rusher, not the Bills quarterback, somebody
- 5:20Speaker 1: who was a high draft pick the Jaguars envisioned signing
- 5:23Speaker 1: for the long haul. But does somebody step forward at
- 5:26Speaker 1: a time that everybody needs more pass rushers with the
- 5:28Speaker 1: type of offer that Trent Bulky and company can't confuse.
- 5:31Speaker 1: And then for the Texans, they're obviously buried in the
- 5:33Speaker 1: standings right now as well. We've talked about Brandon Cook's
- 5:36Speaker 1: being a potential target. Nikis Sarrio never afraid to make
- 5:39Speaker 1: those down the line type of deals to a mass
- 5:41Speaker 1: picks for future years. Those are two of the teams that,
- 5:43Speaker 1: again not necessarily sellers, but certainly would anticipate getting calls
- 5:47Speaker 1: here right the Texans right now, if the season were
- 5:49Speaker 1: to end today, it won't okay, I would have two
- 5:52Speaker 1: top five picks because they have the Brown's first round
- 5:55Speaker 1: pick from the Deshaun Watson trade. Again, Brown's play tonight
- 5:59Speaker 1: against the Bengals. Thank you, Ian, and thank you to
- 6:03Speaker 1: the Eagles will not be picking at the top five,
- 6:05Speaker 1: at least not with there because they are still undefeated.
- 6:09Speaker 1: This is Jalen Hurts, who has when nine consecutives starts
- 6:12Speaker 1: dating back to last year. Regular season starts, just throwing
- 6:16Speaker 1: amazing like touch passes, showing off the arm. A J.
- 6:20Speaker 1: Brown had a day. A J. Brown had three touchdowns.
- 6:25Speaker 1: He could have had four touchdowns. I got you, I
- 6:29Speaker 1: got you. I got another win. The Eagles are seven
- 6:34Speaker 1: and oh for the first time since two thousand and four.
- 6:38Speaker 1: They're dressed up like a great team. You know, it's
- 6:42Speaker 1: just it's just uphill climb. That's what we always talk about.
- 6:46Speaker 1: It's an uphill climb. So that's that's what it is,
- 6:49Speaker 1: you know what I mean, And honestly feel like there
- 6:52Speaker 1: is no arrival. There is no arrival. You will never
- 6:55Speaker 1: get to a point where you say I've arrived. There
- 6:57Speaker 1: is no arrival. There's only the journey. And I've embraced
- 7:00Speaker 1: that journey and I'll continue to do that and take
- 7:03Speaker 1: it day by day and just trying to Jalen Hurts
- 7:06Speaker 1: is kind of that one unifying force here. Ten consecutive starts,
- 7:11Speaker 1: the Eagles have one with Jalen Hurts at quarterback. Huge
- 7:16Speaker 1: part of that as well. His best buddy A. J.
- 7:19Speaker 1: Brown has mentioned three touchdowns, could have had four. Mark
- 7:23Speaker 1: rossty White, James Palmer, who talked to A. J. Brown
- 7:25Speaker 1: after the game was at that game, another great Philadelphia
- 7:28Speaker 1: win joins us here on the Eagles, Cam James. No
- 7:31Speaker 1: matter who it is, whether it's A J. Brown from
- 7:33Speaker 1: day one this year or Robert Quinn getting into it
- 7:36Speaker 1: yesterday as well. Um, they bring guys into this building,
- 7:40Speaker 1: it works. Yeah. And I think all of the pieces
- 7:43Speaker 1: that they've brought in Andrew to a team that was
- 7:44Speaker 1: already very good heading into the off season shows us
- 7:47Speaker 1: exactly what's so important and winning football games. And that's
- 7:50Speaker 1: the chemistry of your locker room. You mentioned a J.
- 7:52Speaker 1: Brown coming in, you know they bringing Hassan Reddick as well.
- 7:55Speaker 1: They also right before the start of the season bringing
- 7:57Speaker 1: Chauncey Gardner Johnson and then they bring in Robert Quinn
- 8:00Speaker 1: just this week. And what's happened with each and every
- 8:03Speaker 1: one of those guys is when I talk to people
- 8:04Speaker 1: in the building, two things happen. One, they're told that
- 8:07Speaker 1: they can be themselves. Immediately. We know that C. J.
- 8:09Speaker 1: Gardner Johnson has a big personality. He has been allowed
- 8:12Speaker 1: to be himself right from the moment he arrived in Philadelphia.
- 8:15Speaker 1: And two, they are told what the standard is in
- 8:18Speaker 1: Philadelphia and that happens immediately. Fletcher Cox told me he
- 8:21Speaker 1: walked up to Robert Quinn the first day he was
- 8:24Speaker 1: in the building and said, we practice hard here, and
- 8:26Speaker 1: Robert Quinn said, good, that's what I wanted to hear.
- 8:28Speaker 1: And that's the standard that this entire group of leaders sets,
- 8:31Speaker 1: and they're able to go mark talk to other position groups.
- 8:35Speaker 1: That's the part that sticks out to me about this team,
- 8:37Speaker 1: to where guys on the offensive line can talk the
- 8:39Speaker 1: defensive backs and hold them accountable, Guys in the wide
- 8:41Speaker 1: receiver room can hold guys on the defensive line accountable,
- 8:44Speaker 1: and that communication is extremely important in building a team. Now,
- 8:48Speaker 1: they haven't had any adversity yet that there eight no
- 8:51Speaker 1: but at the same time that's important when you're trying
- 8:53Speaker 1: to piece things together, especially when adversity will eventually come
- 8:56Speaker 1: at some point. No doubt that James and culture is
- 9:00Speaker 1: is I think thrown around way too much in sports
- 9:02Speaker 1: and in football with culture. But what the what the
- 9:05Speaker 1: Eagles had right there now is belief. And that's belief
- 9:08Speaker 1: from the top, the tone set by the ownership and
- 9:10Speaker 1: your general manager and your head coach, and then it
- 9:13Speaker 1: goes to the players. The best teams that I've been
- 9:15Speaker 1: around with the Giants winning super Bowls. Everybody was in
- 9:19Speaker 1: it for the New York Giants, not for themselves, not
- 9:22Speaker 1: for their stats, not for their money. But how can
- 9:24Speaker 1: the New York Giants win football games? And that's what
- 9:27Speaker 1: it seems the Eagles have going on right now with
- 9:30Speaker 1: all the different players that they've brought in there. You
- 9:33Speaker 1: always think it's a concern about new draft picks and
- 9:35Speaker 1: you trade for guys and all that, but everyone's buying in.
- 9:39Speaker 1: But the most important part of all that and bringing
- 9:41Speaker 1: that culture together is Jalen Hurts. And every time this
- 9:44Speaker 1: young man talks and opens his mouth, I mean he
- 9:46Speaker 1: says the perfect thing. You can tell that the team
- 9:49Speaker 1: rallies around him. And when your best player is the
- 9:52Speaker 1: leader and can carry himself like he does, man, that
- 9:56Speaker 1: that can take this team to the super Bowl. And
- 9:58Speaker 1: I love the nod to Chuck d there. With the
- 10:01Speaker 1: pe outfit that Jalen Hurt has had on, it's gonna
- 10:03Speaker 1: take a nation of millions a whole this Eagles team
- 10:05Speaker 1: back shut them down, right, But I'm gonna believe the
- 10:11Speaker 1: hype and you you got you guys hit the right points.
- 10:14Speaker 1: I mean, we saw like last year when the Rams
- 10:15Speaker 1: made some trades, you know, to bring guys in. Teams,
- 10:17Speaker 1: to bring guys in like the Buccaneers, You've got to
- 10:19Speaker 1: have that point man. And Jalen Hurts being that point man,
- 10:24Speaker 1: being unselfish, sharing the love of the way he does
- 10:27Speaker 1: with the rest of his team. That's important to everybody.
- 10:30Speaker 1: But I also want to look at one specific position group,
- 10:33Speaker 1: and that's the offensive line. I mean, what do we
- 10:35Speaker 1: talk about the Packer's gonna have an offensive line, Rams
- 10:38Speaker 1: offensive line injuries, all these offensive all these injuries and
- 10:40Speaker 1: stuff with the offensive line. Having that ability to dominate
- 10:44Speaker 1: up front on that side of the ball has made
- 10:46Speaker 1: things a lot easier for the Philadelphia Eagles. They also
- 10:49Speaker 1: have a good defensive front. They have decided to build
- 10:51Speaker 1: this team along its lines. Draft well at some of
- 10:55Speaker 1: the pieces through free a T and trades like you said,
- 10:57Speaker 1: James Chauncey Gardner Johnson at those pieces at the skilled position.
- 11:01Speaker 1: But the fact that they are so loaded up on
- 11:03Speaker 1: front and they've made commitment to do so, has allowed
- 11:07Speaker 1: the building of this team and the chemistry of it
- 11:09Speaker 1: to really flourish. The what it is right now, Can
- 11:11Speaker 1: I bring the public enemy thing full we're Super Bowl
- 11:14Speaker 1: fifties seven being Glendale, Andrew, by the time they get
- 11:20Speaker 1: to Arizona, the Eagles will likely the all. See what
- 11:23Speaker 1: he did there, I mean they're undefeated for the last
- 11:25Speaker 1: remaining and defeated team. Okay, James, thank you. Let's get
- 11:29Speaker 1: to the Steelers here because they're the other side of Pennsylvania.
- 11:31Speaker 1: They are now two and six, and that win over
- 11:35Speaker 1: the Bengals Week one feels like a hundred years ago.
- 11:39Speaker 1: Mike Tomlin has never had a losing record in a
- 11:42Speaker 1: single season. This year it might happen. Listen to his
- 11:45Speaker 1: quarterback after the game. Yeah, not not deesail. You know,
- 11:49Speaker 1: not detail guys, and you know what they're doing. Um,
- 11:51Speaker 1: you know we need to study more. I don't. I
- 11:52Speaker 1: don't think we study enough as a group. There's way
- 11:55Speaker 1: too many you know, penalties and stuff like that, which
- 11:57Speaker 1: you know we can control. It's all mental. Um, So
- 11:59Speaker 1: for that to happen, there's really no excuse for that.
- 12:01Speaker 1: So you know, we have to figure that out and
- 12:03Speaker 1: get it right. Mark, what if I told you that?
- 12:06Speaker 1: Naji Harris also question the team's discipline and accountability. That's
- 12:10Speaker 1: not good. I don't think Andrew, when you got your
- 12:13Speaker 1: your rookie QB who's supposed to just be learning the
- 12:16Speaker 1: system and learning from the vets and learning from everyone
- 12:19Speaker 1: his coaching staff, and he's the one that's coming out.
- 12:23Speaker 1: You love the toughness, you love the ownership, but he
- 12:25Speaker 1: shouldn't be the one that has to be in that
- 12:27Speaker 1: position at this point while he's still just trying to
- 12:29Speaker 1: learn the game himself. But that speaks to deeper issues
- 12:33Speaker 1: going on with this Pittsburgh team. And uh, you know,
- 12:36Speaker 1: much like some other teams. With Tampa, the quotes that
- 12:39Speaker 1: were coming out of Tampa for weeks from the head
- 12:41Speaker 1: coach and the quarterback about not being on the same
- 12:43Speaker 1: page and not being prepared. Well, now you've got these
- 12:46Speaker 1: same sort of quotes coming out of Pittsburgh and that's
- 12:49Speaker 1: just not a good sign. And this is where it
- 12:51Speaker 1: seems a non Mike Tomlins situation, where usually he has
- 12:55Speaker 1: everything together. It seems like the Steelers are on the
- 12:57Speaker 1: same page. So now this is a major concern. Well,
- 12:59Speaker 1: he needs to jump in here now say let me
- 13:01Speaker 1: take control of his team. Steve Oh, he will take
- 13:04Speaker 1: control of it. I mean know that that's one of
- 13:05Speaker 1: the great things that Tomlin has done. But the fact
- 13:07Speaker 1: that's gotten to this point and have a rookie do that.
- 13:09Speaker 1: And I I don't think Kenny Pickett is that they're trying
- 13:11Speaker 1: to grandstand by by any means. I think this is
- 13:13Speaker 1: something where he's he and Najie Harris, two young players
- 13:17Speaker 1: see something that's that's just not right. And and the Steelers,
- 13:20Speaker 1: I mean, I just think about those teams of Ryan
- 13:22Speaker 1: Clark and Troy Polamalu and I Hilliard. They would not
- 13:25Speaker 1: have had any of this stuff right. So the fact
- 13:28Speaker 1: that it is the young players doing this something in
- 13:30Speaker 1: the way this team is structured is just not great.
- 13:33Speaker 1: This needs to be the veterans saying we have got
- 13:36Speaker 1: to we've got to blanket all this, we've got to
- 13:38Speaker 1: keep this stuff in house, and we've got to get
- 13:39Speaker 1: it right. You know, salute to Kenny Pickott for stepping up,
- 13:42Speaker 1: But I don't think he's the guy, Mark, like you said,
- 13:44Speaker 1: to be in position to have to answer these types
- 13:46Speaker 1: of questions about a team that entered the season with
- 13:49Speaker 1: a lot of flaws and has simply just not gotten better.
- 13:51Speaker 1: So here's the quote from Naji Harris, who's in his
- 13:53Speaker 1: second season, quote, we lack a lot of stuff. We
- 13:56Speaker 1: lack a lot of experience, lack a lot of discipline, accountability,
- 14:01Speaker 1: We lack a lot. This is stuff we talk about
- 14:04Speaker 1: every week, the NFL trade deadline. The Niners made their
- 14:08Speaker 1: big move two weeks ago. That big move paid off
- 14:12Speaker 1: in big ways. Sunday at SO five, we'll tell you
- 14:15Speaker 1: how and what it means for both teams. Straight ahead,
- 14:24Speaker 1: all right, you're watching NFL now, NFL Network. Christian McCaffrey
- 14:28Speaker 1: at SO five for the second time in three weeks.
- 14:30Speaker 1: He was here a couple of weeks ago with the Panther.
- 14:32Speaker 1: Steve White, you were here, you were there. You saw
- 14:34Speaker 1: McCaffrey do this. And the Niners have done this to
- 14:37Speaker 1: the Rams before, and Kyle Shanahan's it after the game.
- 14:40Speaker 1: We knew they were vultable to it, so we asked
- 14:43Speaker 1: if you could throw it, and he did. McCaffrey to
- 14:45Speaker 1: Brandon Iuke and then Jimmy Garoppolo ad minute after the
- 14:47Speaker 1: game that this was intended for George Kittle, but McCaffrey
- 14:51Speaker 1: caught it. So he threw one. He caught one, he
- 14:54Speaker 1: run for one, he ran for one. The Rams played
- 14:57Speaker 1: a great first half, played an awful second half. Niners
- 15:00Speaker 1: beat him. Again eight in a row in the regular season.
- 15:03Speaker 1: I think the thing I'm most happy about is just
- 15:05Speaker 1: this whole team welcoming me in with open arms and um,
- 15:10Speaker 1: especially in the running back room, guys like Jeff Wilson
- 15:12Speaker 1: and Juice. You know, they just helped me all week
- 15:15Speaker 1: learn everything. And UM, I don't know, I think that
- 15:18Speaker 1: just means a lot to me. So obviously those things
- 15:20Speaker 1: are cool. But I'm just proud to be a forty niner.
- 15:22Speaker 1: And UM, it's felt good to get a win today.
- 15:24Speaker 1: I've played this game long enough than together to do
- 15:25Speaker 1: it every single drive. Um, just because you have a
- 15:27Speaker 1: good drive here there, UM, doesn't mean that the game's
- 15:30Speaker 1: gonna go that way. It's a it's a four quarter
- 15:31Speaker 1: football game for a reason. Um. You know, we definitely
- 15:34Speaker 1: had some good momentum offense playing well on the first half.
- 15:37Speaker 1: We just weren't able to sustain some of those drives
- 15:39Speaker 1: in the second half on on third downs that you know,
- 15:41Speaker 1: I wish I could have been better, you know, better
- 15:44Speaker 1: on Matthew Stafford and the Rams again played an amazing
- 15:47Speaker 1: first half, coming off the by maybe the best first
- 15:49Speaker 1: half of the year, second half maybe their worst second
- 15:53Speaker 1: half of the year. And that is saying a lot.
- 15:55Speaker 1: Christian McCaffrey, though, truly was the difference maker here. The
- 15:59Speaker 1: Rams had tried to get him, reportedly obviously the trade deadline.
- 16:02Speaker 1: It was the Niners who got him instead. And to
- 16:05Speaker 1: show you the mediocrity Steve or or parody, let's call
- 16:08Speaker 1: it mark in the NFC, the Niners would be in
- 16:10Speaker 1: right now. It's set at four and four is the
- 16:12Speaker 1: seventh seat. I think about that. Well, look, the Falcon
- 16:15Speaker 1: debated for and for is the Divisioncaffrey was the difference
- 16:19Speaker 1: to you. But but but he was a difference. And
- 16:21Speaker 1: you know I was at that news conference we did
- 16:23Speaker 1: you show the video of and he said one of
- 16:25Speaker 1: the key things that helped him. He's been there for
- 16:27Speaker 1: nine days. Remember he's been spending so much time with
- 16:30Speaker 1: Kyle Shanahan, but also Jimmy Garoppolo. He talked about the
- 16:33Speaker 1: guys in a running back room. But he said, just
- 16:36Speaker 1: getting to know Jimmy Garoppolo allowed them to do this.
- 16:39Speaker 1: This was a busting play. He was the fifth option here. Again,
- 16:42Speaker 1: even though Jimmy said that was intended for Kittle, he
- 16:45Speaker 1: said the fact that he could connect to McCaffrey and
- 16:47Speaker 1: he saw him was just some of the chemistry that
- 16:49Speaker 1: they're building. It was interesting before the game because the
- 16:53Speaker 1: Niners had so many injuries. Remember Deebo Samuel was out,
- 16:55Speaker 1: Why receiver Jowan Jenny was out. They said, we're gonna
- 16:57Speaker 1: see a whole lot of Christian McCaffrey. We saw a
- 17:00Speaker 1: whole lot of Christian McCaffrey, and the Ranch could not
- 17:03Speaker 1: stop him. Mark when they've got a threat, lie that,
- 17:06Speaker 1: knowing that they're gonna be getting healthier after their by
- 17:08Speaker 1: I mean, this is one reason why we gotta look
- 17:10Speaker 1: at the Niners like they're just getting started here. Yeah
- 17:15Speaker 1: you think so? That was the worry last this last
- 17:17Speaker 1: game when they didn't have Debo and I was like, okay,
- 17:19Speaker 1: well we won't see the full complement of this forty
- 17:22Speaker 1: Niner offense like they envisioned when they got McCaffrey. Well,
- 17:25Speaker 1: it didn't matter because he was a one man offense.
- 17:28Speaker 1: And that's the difference that playmakers can make. You know,
- 17:31Speaker 1: that gets thrown around too often. But those sort of guys,
- 17:34Speaker 1: the McCaffrey's and Debos, on one play, they can change
- 17:37Speaker 1: the entire game. And you saw that yesterday. Of course,
- 17:41Speaker 1: the forty Niners on the Rams. So we'll see how
- 17:43Speaker 1: this plays out with the rest of the season. But yes,
- 17:45Speaker 1: in the NFC, anybody's in it. I mean the Eagles
- 17:48Speaker 1: to be are clearly the favorite, and then the Cowboys
- 17:50Speaker 1: right there, but then after that it's just wide open.
- 17:53Speaker 1: So with the forty niners, they have to be encouraged
- 17:55Speaker 1: with everyone that they're getting back if they can stay healthy.
- 17:59Speaker 1: And on the flip side, talking about one man teams
- 18:02Speaker 1: with with the Rams, with the concerns with them is
- 18:04Speaker 1: that we've saying it all year. It's just kind of
- 18:06Speaker 1: Cooper Cup and then no one else after that. You know,
- 18:09Speaker 1: they're struggling. They couldn't run the ball yesterday. Allen Robinson's
- 18:13Speaker 1: still been a disappointment. Matthew Stafford still hasn't stepped up.
- 18:16Speaker 1: The O line struggled and in the second half to
- 18:19Speaker 1: just get shut out, just completely shut down. That's a
- 18:22Speaker 1: major concern with with the Rams and how they've been
- 18:25Speaker 1: playing this year because it's we've been saying it consistently
- 18:28Speaker 1: game after game that these are the issues and if
- 18:30Speaker 1: you just don't have the talent to straighten it out,
- 18:32Speaker 1: that's the major concern. But again, it's still wide opening.
- 18:35Speaker 1: The nfacy and they're never no one's ever out of
- 18:37Speaker 1: there you Nope, Rams always a team to watch before
- 18:39Speaker 1: the deadline again, that is four pm Eastern tomorrow. The
- 18:43Speaker 1: Rams started Ronnie Rivers, son of the NFL running back
- 18:47Speaker 1: with the same name, yesterday, undrafted rookiett of Fresno State,
- 18:50Speaker 1: third team that he has been with this year. The
- 18:53Speaker 1: Cardinals and the Seahawks, the others and the Niners now
- 18:55Speaker 1: have a week off and then a couple of primetime games.
- 18:58Speaker 1: They get the Chargers up there on Sunday night, Week ten,
- 19:02Speaker 1: and then the Cardinals at home on Monday nights. Two
- 19:05Speaker 1: primetime home games coming up next for McCaffrey and the
- 19:09Speaker 1: forty Niners coming up next. Zack back to reality. No,
- 19:13Speaker 1: that's a eminem lyric. Guys coming up to the Jets
- 19:17Speaker 1: have a quarterback problem. We'll answer it straight ahead. Hip
- 19:21Speaker 1: hop games on point line. Brother, So it was Mac Jones.
- 19:30Speaker 1: We told you it was gonna be Mac Jones, not
- 19:32Speaker 1: Bailey's Happy starting yesterday Patriots and beating the Gent's twelve
- 19:35Speaker 1: consecutive This kind of sort of change the game. This
- 19:39Speaker 1: is a pick six. Michael Carter, not the running back,
- 19:42Speaker 1: the other one runs it back eighties six yards except
- 19:47Speaker 1: JFM Jonathan Franklin Myers was called for rough and pass
- 19:52Speaker 1: or either way, Patriots get a field goal out of it.
- 19:56Speaker 1: It's tend to six at the half, still tend to
- 19:58Speaker 1: six and the third on a fourth down here or
- 20:00Speaker 1: Mac Jones it's Jacobe Myers. Patriots take the lead of
- 20:04Speaker 1: the Patriots go on to win this because this kind
- 20:06Speaker 1: of summed up Zack Wilson's day or running around in
- 20:09Speaker 1: circles in the backfield and just like flailing and throwing picks.
- 20:13Speaker 1: Devin mccordy, brother of the host of Good Morning Football
- 20:16Speaker 1: got two of them Patriots when Devid also got an
- 20:19Speaker 1: interview with Mike Tiardi. How much did the defense put
- 20:24Speaker 1: on themselves just based on how last week went our
- 20:26Speaker 1: Monday even well, I would say we knew that Jets
- 20:28Speaker 1: had a good defense as well, so we knew it
- 20:30Speaker 1: was gonna be tough. Points We're gonna be hard to
- 20:32Speaker 1: come by. They made some plays. We may some plays
- 20:35Speaker 1: all offense, mad enough plays. At the end of the day,
- 20:37Speaker 1: we did defensively, and I think so special teams obviously, Nick,
- 20:40Speaker 1: our kickoff team played great today. We got faith in
- 20:44Speaker 1: n Z Um, he's played good football. He's been he's
- 20:48Speaker 1: taking care of the football since he's gotten back, and
- 20:50Speaker 1: he's shown uh flashes of good football. So um, everyone
- 20:55Speaker 1: locked room size. But you know, like as you see,
- 20:57Speaker 1: like we're still moving the ball. I just had some
- 20:59Speaker 1: bone headed plays. The second interception, I really meant to
- 21:03Speaker 1: throw that ball away to close on me faster, kind
- 21:05Speaker 1: of having me leave the ball inside. Um, can't mess
- 21:08Speaker 1: with that. I gotta sell it. And then the last
- 21:10Speaker 1: one was just really really just want to make place
- 21:12Speaker 1: sick of coming off the field and I can't do that,
- 21:14Speaker 1: you know, put my defense in a bad situation there. Um,
- 21:18Speaker 1: But no, all day I didn't feel like I let
- 21:19Speaker 1: that stuff bother me. I think our Judy Batista, who's
- 21:23Speaker 1: not here with us, but Mike Jardy and Mark ross Is.
- 21:25Speaker 1: Judy Batista had a great lead here, Mike. The Patriots
- 21:29Speaker 1: came into Sunday's game with the quarterback problem. The Jets
- 21:32Speaker 1: exited with one. Yeah, there has to be a lot
- 21:36Speaker 1: of concerning You heard Robert Salick kind of back his
- 21:39Speaker 1: guy Zack Wilson. But a situation where Wilson talked about
- 21:43Speaker 1: the idea that you know there are plays that I
- 21:44Speaker 1: make during the course of the game and say why
- 21:46Speaker 1: did I do that? And there were three massive plays
- 21:49Speaker 1: yesterday where he came away with his hands to his
- 21:52Speaker 1: helmet saying why did I do that? And he turned
- 21:54Speaker 1: the ball over on all three occasions. I just can't
- 21:57Speaker 1: happen in a situation like that where look in the
- 22:00Speaker 1: last four games that they had one prior to he
- 22:02Speaker 1: was not the reason why they were winning, but he
- 22:04Speaker 1: was so not the reason why they were in jeopardy
- 22:07Speaker 1: of losing. He played smart football. He did carry them
- 22:09Speaker 1: in the fourth quarter against the Steelers, but the last
- 22:12Speaker 1: three games no interceptions, also no touchdown passes. They were
- 22:15Speaker 1: content to run the ball and win with good defense, which,
- 22:18Speaker 1: by the way, they have a very good defense, the
- 22:20Speaker 1: defense that's ready to win now. But Wilson is scattershot
- 22:24Speaker 1: sometimes in the pocket. And here's the thing that really
- 22:26Speaker 1: would concern me. Under pressure this year this per Pro
- 22:29Speaker 1: Football Focus, he is nine for seven for a hundred
- 22:34Speaker 1: and fifty one yards, one touchdown, five interceptions. The Patriots
- 22:38Speaker 1: pressured him seventeen times yesterday and it just market just
- 22:42Speaker 1: got ugly and he never was able to pull himself
- 22:44Speaker 1: out of it. Yeah, it got seriously ugly, and that's
- 22:48Speaker 1: a huge concern. I think four of the Jets, and
- 22:50Speaker 1: when they were winning, it massed him not playing very well.
- 22:53Speaker 1: They were winning despite Zack Wilson, so you can kind
- 22:56Speaker 1: of blow it. Obviously, he's leading the team, he's winning games.
- 22:58Speaker 1: But yesterday on full display, you saw the best and
- 23:01Speaker 1: the worst of Zach Wilson. Look, you love his improvisation
- 23:05Speaker 1: skills when he goes out there and he runs around,
- 23:07Speaker 1: he throws balls, but then yesterday it came back to
- 23:10Speaker 1: just bite him where it's like, give up on the play,
- 23:12Speaker 1: Zac Wilson, you gotta let it go. And those are
- 23:15Speaker 1: three of the worst interceptions you'll see. So that's a
- 23:17Speaker 1: major concern. Where a player of quarterback can think about
- 23:21Speaker 1: things and know what they're doing, but in the heat
- 23:22Speaker 1: of the moment, that's where people fall apart, and that's
- 23:24Speaker 1: what separates the greats from the average to the bad.
- 23:27Speaker 1: When the pressure does come, how did they react And
- 23:29Speaker 1: Zack Wilson unfortunately showing that he's not reacting very well,
- 23:33Speaker 1: reacting very poorly. So that's a major concern. He looked
- 23:36Speaker 1: like the first year Zach Wilson. The first couple of
- 23:38Speaker 1: games reverted back to that as opposed to building and
- 23:41Speaker 1: getting better. So I don't know if there's something that
- 23:43Speaker 1: he can work himself out of. Andrew, I hate to
- 23:45Speaker 1: say this, at times he looked like the little kid
- 23:47Speaker 1: playing with the big kids in the neighborhood here. And
- 23:49Speaker 1: I'm not suggesting he's about to get benched, but you
- 23:52Speaker 1: know there's some intrigue before the game. Why is Mike
- 23:54Speaker 1: White the number two and Joe Flacco and active and
- 23:56Speaker 1: or they could do to him with Chris Traveler. Don't
- 23:58Speaker 1: know if that's foreshadowing something here, but Zack Wilson clearly
- 24:02Speaker 1: has to play better. So does Mac Jones though, and
- 24:06Speaker 1: we're not sure Mike. I know you've reported on Unhin
- 24:08Speaker 1: still fighting through some of the effects of that ankle injury.
- 24:11Speaker 1: Don't know if he's a hundred percent. But they really
- 24:13Speaker 1: didn't stretch the field. They got bailed out by a
- 24:15Speaker 1: roughing the pass. Recall, he got sacked six times. Wasn't
- 24:18Speaker 1: a virtuos performance for the offense. Yeah, the words you
- 24:21Speaker 1: heard after the game from the page were gritty, tough
- 24:24Speaker 1: and resilient. But I think when they're talking about the offense,
- 24:26Speaker 1: they would have liked smart and occasionally explosive, and other
- 24:30Speaker 1: than the Ramadre Stevenson run for thirty five yards, there
- 24:33Speaker 1: wasn't much of that. A couple of their scoring drive
- 24:35Speaker 1: were three plays, one yard kick a field goal. Like
- 24:38Speaker 1: there there has to be more coming from the offense.
- 24:41Speaker 1: But as you look at the game, and obviously the
- 24:43Speaker 1: big play JPM hitting mac Jones on a pick six
- 24:47Speaker 1: that not only turned the favor of the game, I think,
- 24:49Speaker 1: but also maybe the fortunes of the Patriot season, because
- 24:51Speaker 1: I think at three and five they're in big trouble
- 24:53Speaker 1: when you look at their schedule. Instead there four and
- 24:55Speaker 1: four feeling better about themselves, and built Belichick not only
- 24:58Speaker 1: back mac Jones after the game, but then twice today
- 25:02Speaker 1: in an interview with the radio station and then on
- 25:04Speaker 1: a zoom call with the me Idea from Boston and
- 25:07Speaker 1: just said, like, I thought he made smart decisions. I
- 25:09Speaker 1: thought he made good decisions. I thought he used his
- 25:10Speaker 1: legs when he had to, and you know he did
- 25:13Speaker 1: point out and I think this is important to know
- 25:15Speaker 1: when you're talking about all these quarterbacks. Protection was terrible,
- 25:18Speaker 1: and you mentioned six sacks uh pressure of his dropbacks yesterday.
- 25:23Speaker 1: That's not very sustainable. Even for the guys that are
- 25:25Speaker 1: really mobile and Mac Jones maybe more mobile than people think,
- 25:28Speaker 1: but not you know, he's not that guy. And you
- 25:31Speaker 1: kind of called it on game day morning when you
- 25:33Speaker 1: pointed out, don't forget David Andrews is out. That is
- 25:36Speaker 1: not ideal against this Jets front seven. They survived though.
- 25:40Speaker 1: Coming up tonight, however, Joe Burrow has never beaten the Browns.
- 25:46Speaker 1: I'll say that again. He's never beaten the Browns. We're
- 25:50Speaker 1: live in Cleveland, straight ahead. I love it. It's the
- 25:59Speaker 1: two teams with the orange helmets, like the pumpkins, like
- 26:03Speaker 1: the Jack at Lanard playing on Monday night football and
- 26:06Speaker 1: Halloween trick or treat. If you knock on my door,
- 26:11Speaker 1: please do it before pick off, which here in l
- 26:14Speaker 1: A is like at five something in Cleveland there where
- 26:17Speaker 1: Bridget Condon is, it's after eight o'clock live at First
- 26:20Speaker 1: Energy Stadium where the Bengals will trying to get a
- 26:21Speaker 1: Vision win and have to do so Bridget without Jamar Chase. Yeah, Andrew,
- 26:26Speaker 1: Joe Burrow is gonna have to try and get his
- 26:28Speaker 1: first win against the Browns. He's oh and three and
- 26:30Speaker 1: he's gonna have to do it without his security blanket,
- 26:33Speaker 1: Jamaar Chase. We know the connection, the chemistry that these
- 26:36Speaker 1: two have dating back to L s U and Jamar
- 26:38Speaker 1: Chase is Joe Burrow's favorite target. He's been targeted seventy
- 26:42Speaker 1: four times this season. The guy behind him has thirty
- 26:45Speaker 1: less targets. That's t Higgins. And I was talking to
- 26:47Speaker 1: center Ted Carris this week and he said, you cannot
- 26:50Speaker 1: overstate the importance of Jamaar Chase. He said, he's our
- 26:53Speaker 1: biggest playmaker and we're gonna be We're gonna need to
- 26:56Speaker 1: be ready to make adjustments tonight. But he did say
- 26:58Speaker 1: the one positive thing Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd, there
- 27:01Speaker 1: are other receivers. They are both very dominant for this
- 27:04Speaker 1: off fense, and they're both ranking in the top twenty
- 27:07Speaker 1: five in most receiving yards in the entire NFL right now.
- 27:09Speaker 1: So he has a lot of confidence in those guys.
- 27:11Speaker 1: But again, they're gonna need to make adjustments. And one
- 27:13Speaker 1: thing he says that's positive is Joe Burrow is one
- 27:16Speaker 1: of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. And I asked
- 27:18Speaker 1: him what do you mean by that, and he said
- 27:20Speaker 1: he has the ability to just drop the ball right
- 27:22Speaker 1: into the receiver's hands, which will be very beneficial for
- 27:25Speaker 1: this offense tonight, exactly playing against Brown's team that does
- 27:28Speaker 1: not have Denzel Ward among other pieces defensively in the
- 27:31Speaker 1: Brown's team. Here bridget that has lost four games in
- 27:34Speaker 1: a row overall at times finding new and creative ways
- 27:36Speaker 1: to lose. What are they saying about breaking that streak? Andrew?
- 27:40Speaker 1: What they're gonna need to do tonight is get Nick
- 27:43Speaker 1: Chubb going to put in perspective how important he is
- 27:46Speaker 1: to this Brown's offense. The Browns are two and oh
- 27:49Speaker 1: when he has twenty or more carries there oh in
- 27:51Speaker 1: five when he has less than that, he is going
- 27:54Speaker 1: to need to find holes and get this offense going.
- 27:57Speaker 1: I was talking to Bengals cornerback Tito A. Woozier, and
- 28:00Speaker 1: he told me that Nick Chubb is like a juggernaut
- 28:02Speaker 1: running through a brick wall. He said, he's so hard
- 28:05Speaker 1: to tackle. He has so much momentum. This guy has
- 28:08Speaker 1: more than six hundred yards after contact. That's the second
- 28:11Speaker 1: most in the entire NFL. So, you know, told me
- 28:13Speaker 1: that they're gonna need to buckle up their chin straps,
- 28:16Speaker 1: mold their mouthpieces, and get ready to hit somebody. This
- 28:19Speaker 1: is going to be a very physical game. And Andrew,
- 28:22Speaker 1: one other quick note for you. The Bengals have not
- 28:25Speaker 1: allowed a second half touchdown this entire season. Guess who
- 28:29Speaker 1: is tied for the most second half touchdowns in the
- 28:32Speaker 1: NFL this season, Nick Chubb and the Browns second half
- 28:36Speaker 1: defense has not been good, but the Browns have beaten
- 28:38Speaker 1: the Bengals four straight, their longest streak since the early nineties.
- 28:42Speaker 1: And write it down tonight kids, Joe Burrow has never
- 28:44Speaker 1: beaten the Browns. Bridget Condon, Live There in Cleveland had
