- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Malay with Fexingo! I'm Lucas, and with me is my favourite student, Luna. Luna: Hey everyone! Ready to learn some new words today? Lucas: Last time we covered baju and kasut – shirt and shoes. Luna: Yeah, I've been using those! 'Saya pakai baju' – I wear a shirt. And 'Saya pakai kasut' – I wear shoes. Lucas: Nice! Today we're adding two more clothing items. Let's start with seluar. Luna: Seluar? Lucas: Yes, seluar means pants or trousers. Listen: seluar. Luna: Seluar... seluar. That sounds a bit like 'slacks' in English, doesn't it? Lucas: It does! So, 'Saya pakai seluar' – I wear pants. Luna: Saya pakai seluar. Simple! I wear pants. Lucas: Exactly. Now, let's add a colour. Seluar biru – blue pants. Luna: Seluar biru. So if I'm wearing blue jeans, I can say 'Saya pakai seluar biru'? Lucas: Perfect! You can even shorten it to just 'Seluar biru' if someone asks what you're wearing. Luna: Right. So today I could say 'Saya pakai seluar hitam' because I'm wearing black pants. Lucas: Well done! Now let's move on to our second word: topi. Luna: Topi... that's hat, right? Like a cap or a hat? Lucas: Yes, topi covers any kind of hat – baseball cap, sun hat, beanie. So 'Saya pakai topi' – I wear a hat. Luna: Saya pakai topi. I wear a hat. Okay, and with a colour: topi merah – red hat. Lucas: Exactly! So if someone says 'Apa yang awak pakai?' – What are you wearing? – you could say 'Saya pakai baju, seluar, dan topi'. Luna: Hmm, let me try. 'Saya pakai baju, seluar, dan topi.' I wear a shirt, pants, and a hat. Lucas: You nailed it! Let's do a quick practice. I'll ask, and you answer. 'Luna, apa yang awak pakai?' Luna: Okay, umm... 'Saya pakai baju putih, seluar hitam, dan topi biru'. Lucas: Amazing! You just described your outfit in Malay. Luna: And it's true – I'm wearing a white shirt, black pants, and a blue hat today. Lucas: That's awesome. Now let's review our new words: seluar, topi. Luna: Seluar – pants. Topi – hat. Lucas: And the phrases: Saya pakai seluar. Saya pakai topi. Luna: Saya pakai seluar.
