- 0:01Speaker 1: In this corner, standing at six foot five, weight class unknowns,
- 0:04Speaker 1: but hailing from the city of Sands.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Put your hands together for Jamison Wells.
- 0:08Speaker 1: And in this corner standing at five foot ten, weighing
- 0:11Speaker 1: in at pound and coming to us from his super
- 0:15Speaker 1: secret bunker with no Ac in Tucson, Arizona.
- 0:18Speaker 3: Put your hands together for Luis Montemao.
- 0:27Speaker 1: All right, welcome back and thanks for another episode of
- 0:30Speaker 1: w podcast or someone half of the show.
- 0:32Speaker 2: My name is Jamison as Oh Well drum by Luise Louise.
- 0:35Speaker 2: What's going on? Man?
- 0:37Speaker 3: Oh Jameson. Very excited to be back and ready to
- 0:40Speaker 3: talk about a couple of important pieces of news in
- 0:43Speaker 3: the boxing world. The first one is the monster now,
- 0:47Speaker 3: oh yeah, in a way from Japan. You know, we
- 0:50Speaker 3: had talked previously about how we want to see Nooya
- 0:52Speaker 3: in a way fight Bam Rodriguez and how that'd be
- 0:54Speaker 3: a great fight, a lot of great talent in the ring.
- 0:58Speaker 3: Now yoh, anyways, said he's down, but he set a
- 1:01Speaker 3: March twenty seven deadline and said you fight me now
- 1:05Speaker 3: where I'm moving up and wait and see you later, bro,
- 1:08Speaker 3: which is kind of interesting, very much understandable from anyway,
- 1:12Speaker 3: like he's the kind of guy he doesn't need any fight.
- 1:16Speaker 3: He's a star, he's got his backing, he's a huge
- 1:18Speaker 3: star in Japan, always sells out shows, blah blah blah.
- 1:22Speaker 3: He wants to do what he wants to do, and
- 1:24Speaker 3: he's been planning to move up. And his thing is
- 1:26Speaker 3: like do it or don't, I don't give a shit.
- 1:28Speaker 3: And he really has the power to do that, which
- 1:31Speaker 3: is crazy. It's kind of crazy seeing somebody that can
- 1:33Speaker 3: do that. And honestly, I don't think if if the
- 1:37Speaker 3: band fight doesn't happen, I don't think it's gonna hurt
- 1:39Speaker 3: now anyway. I think it'll hurt us as fans more
- 1:42Speaker 3: to not get to see that fight. But I don't
- 1:44Speaker 3: know what are your thoughts on that. I mean, it's
- 1:46Speaker 3: is this gonna be a problem.
- 1:47Speaker 1: For either guy?
- 1:49Speaker 2: It can be, because here's the thing.
- 1:51Speaker 1: Whenever you have a top five poundful bound guy and
- 1:54Speaker 1: we don't know when he's fighting next, it's never a
- 1:56Speaker 1: good thing. Especially when he's like in this prime rare
- 1:58Speaker 1: and is like good fighting years. We kind of need
- 2:01Speaker 1: to know when he's fighting. You kind of even know
- 2:03Speaker 1: that there's something coming down the pipe. What we don't
- 2:05Speaker 1: need is the rest of this year running out, and
- 2:07Speaker 1: then we're at the beginning of next year and we'll
- 2:10Speaker 1: have no date, and then we're playing the whole Oh,
- 2:12Speaker 1: let's fight the summer. That's a whole year going by,
- 2:15Speaker 1: so hopefully there's some revolution soon and later. But yeah,
- 2:18Speaker 1: we do need a fight and now as quickly as possible.
- 2:22Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:23Speaker 3: Well, and that's the thing too. About another reason why
- 2:24Speaker 3: I think it doesn't hurt anyway, because he's fought twice
- 2:27Speaker 3: a year consistently. He fought four times I think in
- 2:29Speaker 3: twenty twenty five. So whether it's Bam or not, that
- 2:32Speaker 3: man is coming back in the ring. Like you can
- 2:34Speaker 3: almost set your watch to it, you know, even more
- 2:37Speaker 3: so than like Canelo, because you know, sometimes things happen
- 2:40Speaker 3: with the negotiations, fights fall through, so he doesn't always
- 2:42Speaker 3: make Sinco to Mayo or September Mexican Independence Day. But yeah,
- 2:46Speaker 3: you know, way I really want to see this fight
- 2:49Speaker 3: is the main thing. But also see I wrote it down,
- 2:54Speaker 3: so he's you know, he's at one twenty two and
- 2:56Speaker 3: he wants to move to one twenty six. He's thirty
- 2:58Speaker 3: three years old, said that he wants to probably probably
- 3:01Speaker 3: retire at thirty five. So yeah, he's got his plans.
- 3:04Speaker 3: I don't know if you've read that, Like that's kind
- 3:06Speaker 3: of where he is mentally. Of course, you know, all
- 3:11Speaker 3: all fighters have plans to retire and do retire and
- 3:13Speaker 3: then they you know, come back or this and that.
- 3:14Speaker 3: But that's why Plus Bam is a one eight team,
- 3:18Speaker 3: so he would have to go up as well to
- 3:21Speaker 3: make that fight. So he's like, that's why he's saying
- 3:23Speaker 3: do it or don't. I'm gonna do what I'm gonna
- 3:24Speaker 3: do and move up to one twenty six to do
- 3:26Speaker 3: my shit.
- 3:26Speaker 2: So I don't know.
- 3:28Speaker 1: And we is a clear A and B side of
- 3:30Speaker 1: this too, So yeah, like you gotta kind of need
- 3:32Speaker 1: to figure it out. Hopefully it gets was off quickly
- 3:35Speaker 1: because the one thing we gain can't have this lingering on.
- 3:37Speaker 1: That's the worst thing you have. So hopefully it's gets
- 3:40Speaker 1: done quicker than normal.
- 3:42Speaker 3: Now in your opinion, is this like is this all
- 3:45Speaker 3: on Bam? Like what is he the one that has
- 3:47Speaker 3: to just decide.
- 3:48Speaker 2: Like what we set up?
- 3:49Speaker 1: Man, when you're the B side of a fight, when people,
- 3:51Speaker 1: when the average person don't know who you are, you
- 3:53Speaker 1: got to make successions. It's on you why it sucks,
- 3:57Speaker 1: but that t how the game has always been. When
- 3:58Speaker 1: you're the challenger, you may call the accessions, you come
- 4:01Speaker 1: out first, you have to do this, you gotta do that.
- 4:04Speaker 1: That's just how the game's always been.
- 4:05Speaker 2: That's what it is.
- 4:06Speaker 1: So again, Tans Crawford, one of the fight with Canelo,
- 4:09Speaker 1: he moved up multiway classes, got that fight. That's just
- 4:13Speaker 1: how it goes. Like when you're the B side, you're
- 4:15Speaker 1: the B side like that, that's how it goes. Either
- 4:19Speaker 1: deal with it or move off, like no one has
- 4:21Speaker 1: any sympathy for you. Like you mentioned, there will be
- 4:23Speaker 1: another fight one way or another. So let's get this
- 4:26Speaker 1: figured out to hopefully get a really good fight or classic,
- 4:29Speaker 1: maybe even a rematch two and we can move on.
- 4:32Speaker 1: But if not, then next up.
- 4:35Speaker 3: Yeah, and you know, you know, I fought in May
- 4:37Speaker 3: of this year, and there's still a chance that no
- 4:40Speaker 3: matter what, he'll fight again in like December, at the
- 4:43Speaker 3: end of the year. Nothing's been announced. But yeah, as
- 4:46Speaker 3: long as and you know, to be fair, if he
- 4:48Speaker 3: takes the rest of this year off, he's earned it.
- 4:50Speaker 3: Like I said, twenty twenty five, he fought four times,
- 4:53Speaker 3: so that's totally cool. But He's not the kind of
- 4:56Speaker 3: guy you expect to take a year and a half,
- 4:57Speaker 3: two years off, you know what I'm saying, He's gonna
- 5:01Speaker 3: be back. And yeah, I think at the end of
- 5:02Speaker 3: the day, the biggest losers are gonna be the fans
- 5:05Speaker 3: who don't get to see this fight. So I love Bam.
- 5:08Speaker 3: I think he's a great fighter. I'm a fan. He's
- 5:09Speaker 3: a fellow Theano, which I appreciate. Uh, but he doesn't
- 5:13Speaker 3: have this the pull that now he anyway does. He
- 5:16Speaker 3: just doesn't you know, number one counts for pound. He
- 5:21Speaker 3: doesn't have to fight in Vegas like he's fought in
- 5:23Speaker 3: Vegas like once every like I don't know, three years,
- 5:25Speaker 3: four years, five years. He's perfectly fine fighting in Tokyo.
- 5:29Speaker 3: It's another thing Bam will have to do that, which
- 5:31Speaker 3: is a big consideration.
- 5:32Speaker 2: You know.
- 5:34Speaker 3: I don't know anything about what it's like to train
- 5:36Speaker 3: that hard, but uh, and to have to travel for
- 5:39Speaker 3: to fight. But I've been to Tokyo and jedl like
- 5:43Speaker 3: messes you up and we talked about this before. It's
- 5:45Speaker 3: a no joke.
- 5:47Speaker 1: So he's a rough LA is very rough, to be
- 5:50Speaker 1: honest with you, if you're not getting over there too
- 5:53Speaker 1: before the fight, You're not really serious. Why you need
- 5:56Speaker 1: to get fully acclimated. You get your routines down and
- 5:59Speaker 1: you get your body paired. The whole nine white people
- 6:02Speaker 1: get there weak up. I'm just I'm like, nah, I
- 6:05Speaker 1: ain't it. But everybody's different.
- 6:07Speaker 2: So I love people. I love people do them, but
- 6:09Speaker 2: sometimes things that be make sense enough to me. Yeah.
- 6:12Speaker 3: No, it's it's it's a wild experience that. The crazy
- 6:15Speaker 3: thing about traveling internationally, which I love doing, is when
- 6:18Speaker 3: I've come back and I'm sleeping at my in my home,
- 6:22Speaker 3: in my bed, my apartment, I wake up in the
- 6:23Speaker 3: middle light and I don't know where, like where in
- 6:25Speaker 3: the world I am. I'm literally like, did I make
- 6:28Speaker 3: it back?
- 6:28Speaker 2: Hold?
- 6:29Speaker 3: Like am I still? Like about a layover? It's crazy
- 6:31Speaker 3: that And then you turn the lights on, It's like, oh,
- 6:33Speaker 3: it's my apartment. But uh yeah, that's that's something that
- 6:36Speaker 3: you It's August. Now, if the deadline is March, is
- 6:40Speaker 3: there enough time to get all of that figured out
- 6:42Speaker 3: and for BAM to sign up and decide if he
- 6:43Speaker 3: wants to do it.
- 6:44Speaker 2: Oh?
- 6:44Speaker 1: Yeah, definitely is Wait, I mean the deadline's March. Where
- 6:47Speaker 1: in early August in August, so we got four more months.
- 6:52Speaker 1: We got seven months away, Like, yeah, there's more. If
- 6:55Speaker 1: they can't get done seven months wasn't meant to be,
- 6:58Speaker 1: that's fair.
- 6:59Speaker 3: Yeah, man, you know, bad Rodriguez. I don't know if
- 7:01Speaker 3: if you're listening, I know, if somebody on your team's listening,
- 7:04Speaker 3: I know they are get this done.
- 7:06Speaker 1: Man.
- 7:06Speaker 2: We need this.
- 7:07Speaker 3: We spent so much time just kind of like speculating
- 7:10Speaker 3: about Canelo Crawford, whether or not it was going to happen.
- 7:14Speaker 3: I actually kind of like that. It always set a
- 7:17Speaker 3: deadline because you know, the Kenel Crawford thing dragged down
- 7:19Speaker 3: for like a year and a half something like that,
- 7:21Speaker 3: and it was on, then it was off, blah blah blah.
- 7:24Speaker 3: This is a do it or don't. It's either gonna
- 7:26Speaker 3: happen or it's not. So if we don't know by yeah,
- 7:28Speaker 3: the end of this year, then we can just move
- 7:30Speaker 3: on and stop speculating, which is kind of kind of
- 7:32Speaker 3: nice actually when you think about it that way. But yeah, man,
- 7:35Speaker 3: you gotta do it. Man, boxing needs this fight and
- 7:38Speaker 3: the fans need to need to see this. So but yeah,
- 7:43Speaker 3: moving on from one monster to another, which actually is
- 7:46Speaker 3: I think has happened before on the show. We're we're
- 7:48Speaker 3: talking about two different guys who became the Monster. I
- 7:51Speaker 3: got kind of a lot to say here about David Benavitez,
- 7:53Speaker 3: the Mexican Monster. So had a synco demo fight against
- 7:58Speaker 3: Sudeo Reminez. Look awesome, kicked ass. You know, I was
- 8:01Speaker 3: over the moon about it. I said, you know, he
- 8:03Speaker 3: could be the next singing to my own guy face
- 8:05Speaker 3: of boxing. Now it's kind of unclear what his plans
- 8:10Speaker 3: are going to be. He was talking about fighting Noel
- 8:12Speaker 3: mchaley and walked away from that fell through. Now he's
- 8:15Speaker 3: fighting a guy named Michael Sizlak or Cislac. I'm not
- 8:18Speaker 3: sure I'm not pronouncing that correctly, Polish fighter. Don't know
- 8:21Speaker 3: anything about him, don't think I've ever heard of him before.
- 8:23Speaker 3: Plans for him to fight him in December, not even
- 8:27Speaker 3: a mandatory. He's another cruiserweight, which is where Davi ben
- 8:30Speaker 3: Avida's hanging out right now. A lot of talk about
- 8:33Speaker 3: him fighting Giopataia. David Benavida said no because Giopataia is
- 8:38Speaker 3: with ZUFA. He was stripped of his IBF cruiserweight belt,
- 8:43Speaker 3: only has the ZUFA belt at the moment, and David
- 8:45Speaker 3: Benavida says, I'm good on that shit. I don't want
- 8:48Speaker 3: to fight for that dumb belt, to paraphrase him. And
- 8:53Speaker 3: of course you know the people are coming out of
- 8:54Speaker 3: the woodwork saying he's scared, he's running, et cetera. So
- 8:57Speaker 3: I got a lot more to say, but I want
- 8:58Speaker 3: to start here, is is this a good reason for
- 9:01Speaker 3: David Benavitez to walk away from the Opataia fight? Or
- 9:04Speaker 3: do you think he's duckings he scared? Like what's your
- 9:06Speaker 3: or what's your take care?
- 9:07Speaker 2: I think he's taking his next few fights in his hands,
- 9:11Speaker 2: in his control.
- 9:12Speaker 1: He's trying to map out his opponents, to map out
- 9:15Speaker 1: whatever destination he has, not just this fight coming up,
- 9:18Speaker 1: but also next year as well, and whatever pathway it
- 9:20Speaker 1: takes to get there, he's going to do that. And
- 9:22Speaker 1: that's when you do when you're the guy after king
- 9:25Speaker 1: at the top of the mountain or the king of
- 9:26Speaker 1: the hill of your situation, and he's.
- 9:29Speaker 2: Deserve the right to do so.
- 9:30Speaker 1: Ducking for me is a tough thing because he doesn't
- 9:33Speaker 1: come across and a guy that ducks people, it just
- 9:36Speaker 1: doesn't quite seem right.
- 9:36Speaker 2: At a history of that, and ducking's a totally different
- 9:39Speaker 2: thing because.
- 9:42Speaker 1: Ducking means you're clearly avoiding a fighter, and I don't
- 9:45Speaker 1: see a fighter worthy enough for him to duck at
- 9:47Speaker 1: this point in his range. I could be wrong, but
- 9:50Speaker 1: I don't think there's anyone in that way division that
- 9:55Speaker 1: he should be afraid of or he should be overly
- 9:58Speaker 1: like confused about fighting.
- 10:01Speaker 2: I don't see it. Could be wrong, things happen, but
- 10:03Speaker 2: I personally think duck is the wrong word. I'm more
- 10:06Speaker 2: of a thing like, hey.
- 10:08Speaker 1: This next eighteen months, let's put together the best plan
- 10:11Speaker 1: possible and go from there. That's where I'm looking at it.
- 10:14Speaker 1: When I look at him as team and everything going on,
- 10:17Speaker 1: that's what I gather.
- 10:18Speaker 2: But we'll see. I'm curious, you are your thoughts.
- 10:22Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm so. The first thing that you know, I
- 10:25Speaker 3: saw when people were talking about online was just that
- 10:27Speaker 3: Benabde is ducking. He's care blah blah blah. We always
- 10:29Speaker 3: like to bring a little bit more nuance into this
- 10:31Speaker 3: to these conversations, uh than just you know, kind of
- 10:35Speaker 3: parroting the same crap from Instagram comments. No, I can understand.
- 10:41Speaker 3: You know, we've we've criticized zoofa here a lot on
- 10:44Speaker 3: on this platform will probably continue to do. So they
- 10:46Speaker 3: have their own belt. The other sanctioning bodies don't really
- 10:50Speaker 3: you know, they don't really recognize them as legitimate. That
- 10:53Speaker 3: belt is legitimate. So if somebody wants to become an
- 10:57Speaker 3: undisputed champion, which a lot of fighters do, why would
- 11:02Speaker 3: David Benavidez go to ZUFA And then I don't know
- 11:04Speaker 3: if there's a chance, I mean, Opataia got his got
- 11:08Speaker 3: his IBF belt strip, like I said, but he signed
- 11:10Speaker 3: with them. Is there a chance that like Benavidez will
- 11:12Speaker 3: get his belts taken away by the other commissions if
- 11:14Speaker 3: he does take this fight, like he wouldn't sign with them.
- 11:16Speaker 3: But I don't know. Yeah, that's something that I understand
- 11:21Speaker 3: where Benavidez is saying, like that's not what I want
- 11:23Speaker 3: to do with my career, that's not what I He's
- 11:26Speaker 3: not getting anything out of it, right right right. But
- 11:29Speaker 3: also this guy Michael Sins like doesn't have belts either,
- 11:32Speaker 3: and he's like he's not a champ and he's you know, uh,
- 11:35Speaker 3: not a mandatory. He's taking this fight to stay in
- 11:37Speaker 3: the limelight. I feel like we're kind of getting back
- 11:41Speaker 3: into the same conversation we've had before of like Benavidez
- 11:44Speaker 3: needs a big, big win, a big match, a big fight,
- 11:47Speaker 3: a starmaking turn, and he's just not getting it, you
- 11:49Speaker 3: know what I mean?
- 11:49Speaker 1: Yeah, and kind of reminds me of the Roy Jones
- 11:53Speaker 1: Arab way back when, where there was a long period
- 11:55Speaker 1: of time where it was really anyone from the fight.
- 11:59Speaker 1: And ironically it's kind of at this particular weight range,
- 12:04Speaker 1: it's gets so point times where you kind of run
- 12:07Speaker 1: out of guy's a fight or there's no big money
- 12:10Speaker 1: fights to make at the moment. Could change, but I
- 12:13Speaker 1: don't see any amazing opponents that can make a crazy
- 12:18Speaker 1: fight at what seive.
- 12:22Speaker 3: Well, no, that you're talking about light heavy at cruiseweight,
- 12:24Speaker 3: because light heavyweight there's always bevill or better be it
- 12:30Speaker 3: at cruiserweight. That's the I think that's the problem with
- 12:32Speaker 3: the division is just like what how many names do
- 12:35Speaker 3: we can we name off the top of of our
- 12:36Speaker 3: heads who are big cruiserweight guys like famous fighters.
- 12:41Speaker 2: It's like go ahead, good now, you're good, go ahead,
- 12:44Speaker 2: go ahead, go ahead.
- 12:45Speaker 3: No, I was gonna say, I was very curious as
- 12:48Speaker 3: to what you know benevide is his plan for for
- 12:51Speaker 3: his career was when he decided to move to cruiserweight.
- 12:53Speaker 3: Off the top of my head, yeah, the only guys
- 12:55Speaker 3: I can think of big names who I can pull
- 12:57Speaker 3: who are a cruiserweight were Usik.
- 12:59Speaker 2: And Roy Jones.
- 13:00Speaker 3: That's never been a weight class that anybody's really given
- 13:02Speaker 3: a crap about. Yeah, so I'm like, what do you like,
- 13:06Speaker 3: can he really grab grab fame By by the lapels
- 13:10Speaker 3: if he's a cruiserweight? I mean he's gonna look good
- 13:13Speaker 3: in the ring, definitely.
- 13:16Speaker 1: But to like Evenz and We're all like, those are
- 13:23Speaker 1: good fights for us, but they're not mega fights, if
- 13:26Speaker 1: that makes sense. Like they're great fights for those are
- 13:28Speaker 1: amazing matchup, but I just don't know what they do
- 13:35Speaker 1: at this stage with I don't know, I don't know
- 13:39Speaker 1: what wrong. I just don't know at the moment.
- 13:42Speaker 3: Better Beev is such a legendary name. Beavill had a
- 13:45Speaker 3: lot of hype. You know, there's some things that didn't
- 13:47Speaker 3: go as well after the win against better be If
- 13:49Speaker 3: you know, he got injured, he came back with the
- 13:51Speaker 3: mandatory nobody really wasn't really that big of a challenge.
- 13:55Speaker 3: But he's still a name and he's still very popular.
- 13:57Speaker 3: And here's the thing you're not getting, at the very
- 13:59Speaker 3: least for the Canelo haters, You're not gonna get, you know,
- 14:03Speaker 3: the their love of bevill You're not gonna pryor you're
- 14:06Speaker 3: gonna pride from their cold dead hands. So he's still
- 14:09Speaker 3: a big, a big guy, talented guy. Another thing too,
- 14:11Speaker 3: so whether whether he presents a challenge for Benavidez or not.
- 14:15Speaker 3: I think it's a very good fight to show the
- 14:17Speaker 3: Benavidez has the goods, That's how I see it. But
- 14:22Speaker 3: he's also not in that weight class right now, so
- 14:25Speaker 3: is he gonna win a couple more fights a cruiserweight
- 14:27Speaker 3: move back down? Like it's very confusing to me.
- 14:30Speaker 2: Yeah, And also what's the motivation? Right?
- 14:33Speaker 1: How gets some money at cruiserweight? Like one seventy five
- 14:36Speaker 1: weird one? Somebody fight at two hundred. It's a weird
- 14:39Speaker 1: man division like one sixty eight is like the last
- 14:42Speaker 1: of the middleweight middleweight guys. Once you get the cruise
- 14:46Speaker 1: waight up, it gets really weird. To heavyweight man gets
- 14:49Speaker 1: very odd, and Benavidez is in a really weird spot
- 14:53Speaker 1: because it's kind of no man's land. And unless someone's
- 14:58Speaker 1: gonna make concessions to fight him. I don't think it
- 15:01Speaker 1: happens like that's. I think he's in a weird spot.
- 15:03Speaker 1: I think he's in a very fest for the next
- 15:05Speaker 1: couple of years. Things can change, you know, they definitely
- 15:08Speaker 1: could change because of right now.
- 15:10Speaker 3: Nothing would surprise me, right and let's not forget that
- 15:13Speaker 3: there is still plans or sorry if these people are
- 15:15Speaker 3: talking about it, you know, and nothing but official. But uh,
- 15:18Speaker 3: there's been Jeddar that Beevill and better Be want to
- 15:20Speaker 3: come back for a trilogy. So I can't imagine that,
- 15:24Speaker 3: you know, either of them would fight Been to be
- 15:25Speaker 3: Is before that.
- 15:26Speaker 2: Nope.
- 15:27Speaker 1: And also too, your vita is like you gotta be
- 15:31Speaker 1: careful too, because you don't want to wait too long,
- 15:33Speaker 1: even though he's still under thirty. But you don't want
- 15:36Speaker 1: to just be waiting just to wait, like you gotta
- 15:38Speaker 1: find fighters, be productive, keep getting better.
- 15:40Speaker 2: It's a very slippery slope.
- 15:42Speaker 1: It's one of those situations where you hope it works
- 15:45Speaker 1: out for the best, but you can see it would
- 15:47Speaker 1: surprise me if we're talking two three years from now
- 15:50Speaker 1: and we're having the same conversation by him and there's
- 15:52Speaker 1: really no fault of anyone's but not of himself.
- 15:55Speaker 2: This is how the how things should down.
- 15:58Speaker 3: Sure, sure, I mean like I feel like definitely, you know,
- 16:01Speaker 3: him getting duck by Canelo, Like that's a conversation we
- 16:05Speaker 3: had a million times. People keep bringing it up. But
- 16:07Speaker 3: here's the thing is that I've always said, you know,
- 16:09Speaker 3: I'm a broken record, but I do think Canelo was
- 16:12Speaker 3: smart to not take that fight. It was a high risk,
- 16:14Speaker 3: low reward for him. Benavidez didn't get his chance, moved up,
- 16:18Speaker 3: try to fight people, be a all vacated the belt
- 16:23Speaker 3: and now he's trying to cruise away. So he's kind
- 16:25Speaker 3: of throwing anything at the wall to see what sticks.
- 16:27Speaker 3: And he's too talented to be flailing like this. I
- 16:30Speaker 3: think he definitely, Yeah, it is. It is kind of like,
- 16:34Speaker 3: you know, we're in a time loop here talking about
- 16:36Speaker 3: the same thing about when he's gonna get his big shot?
- 16:38Speaker 3: Like how many times have we said that ourselves? Here's
- 16:42Speaker 3: a question for you. Obviously, he has to stay active.
- 16:45Speaker 3: Benavidez has to stay in the spotlight. You know, he
- 16:47Speaker 3: has to get in that ring and make sure people
- 16:49Speaker 3: don't forget who he is or his talent, et cetera.
- 16:52Speaker 3: Him fighting in December with this guy, a seaslack guy,
- 16:57Speaker 3: not a champ, you know, not opponent, but he's still
- 17:00Speaker 3: gonna be you know, he's still in Betavid is still
- 17:03Speaker 3: a name and he's still gonna be on TV. Do
- 17:05Speaker 3: you think that helps or hurts him or kind of neutral?
- 17:07Speaker 3: It said, like a what do they call a lateral move?
- 17:09Speaker 3: Because I like the fact that he's still gonna be
- 17:11Speaker 3: fighting twice in one year, Like that's always very nice.
- 17:15Speaker 1: You gotta stay active because when I heard that, when
- 17:17Speaker 1: you say active, things can take place less. It's a
- 17:20Speaker 1: weird situation where you're at the end of your career
- 17:24Speaker 1: and you kind of pick and choose what you do.
- 17:26Speaker 2: When you're in the middle of your career, you still
- 17:27Speaker 2: have to active. You still have to say sharp.
- 17:29Speaker 1: Also gotta say relevant, like you want you're going to
- 17:32Speaker 1: go up in poundless with Hey, they just fought X
- 17:34Speaker 1: amount of months ago. You don't want to be the
- 17:36Speaker 1: guy that fights that one is every eighteen months. Damn
- 17:39Speaker 1: they haven't fought over year. You don't want to be
- 17:40Speaker 1: that guy. So it's a very fine line. But also
- 17:43Speaker 1: you got to keep your fan base in tune. You
- 17:45Speaker 1: got to keep it whatever good intergy you have. You
- 17:47Speaker 1: got to keep that everything, everything go inside a certain way.
- 17:50Speaker 1: So all that being said, long story short, if de
- 17:55Speaker 1: Benavide has fought twice a year, it would be good
- 17:57Speaker 1: for everyone involved. As long as he's healthy and it
- 18:01Speaker 1: looks sharp and everything, that's fine. Eventually you kind of
- 18:04Speaker 1: fall into a good opponent. What I mean by that
- 18:07Speaker 1: is there's somebody we'll probably overlooking right now that he
- 18:10Speaker 1: would wind up with. And next thing you know, it's
- 18:12Speaker 1: round seven. We're talking about, Hey, this is a close fight,
- 18:15Speaker 1: and we anticipated I'm not saying he's gonna you're gonna
- 18:17Speaker 1: get dropped, but hey, this is the closer fight. Then
- 18:20Speaker 1: now this is a fight, we gotta start paying a
- 18:22Speaker 1: little more attention to Gotta put the phone down a
- 18:24Speaker 1: little bit. Now, gotta got it fully, you know. So
- 18:26Speaker 1: those are things that when it comes to boxing, that's
- 18:29Speaker 1: how it goes. Like even think about this, when Take
- 18:32Speaker 1: fought Roach a year plus ago, we didn't go into that.
- 18:36Speaker 1: We didn't think Roach that much of a chance in
- 18:38Speaker 1: that fight, Like, no one gave Roach any you know,
- 18:41Speaker 1: that was a tune up fight, but that was far
- 18:44Speaker 1: from the case. So boxing one of those things where
- 18:47Speaker 1: you guys say active, but also you never know, And
- 18:49Speaker 1: I don't think David Benavidez would come in he gets
- 18:52Speaker 1: get caught. I don't think he would come in sloppy.
- 18:54Speaker 1: But boxing one of those things where on any given night,
- 18:57Speaker 1: if your opponent is just a prepaired he you know,
- 19:00Speaker 1: has it going, You never know, So nothing would quite
- 19:03Speaker 1: surprise me. But I do think staying active is the
- 19:06Speaker 1: best course of action at the moment.
- 19:09Speaker 3: Yeah, I would agree. And apart from Roach, you know,
- 19:11Speaker 3: let's not forget william was Abela who just fought Roach.
- 19:13Speaker 3: I mean his fight against Shakor. He gave sch cour
- 19:16Speaker 3: Stephenson kind of the the biggest challenge that he's had
- 19:18Speaker 3: so far in his career, and everybody was very thrilled
- 19:21Speaker 3: about that fight. Even though Williams sped a lust, he
- 19:23Speaker 3: got a lot of respect. There could be a guy
- 19:26Speaker 3: that gives Beta Beataz like a challenge that it takes
- 19:28Speaker 3: him what, like, I don't know, send ten rounds to
- 19:30Speaker 3: knock the guy out.
- 19:33Speaker 1: What Hardy is used to like. I think that's the
- 19:35Speaker 1: big part of it as well. It's not necessarily to
- 19:37Speaker 1: knock in or anything like that. Oh, I had to
- 19:40Speaker 1: really go to extra gear for this one. Oh, I
- 19:42Speaker 1: had to really concentrate for this one, stead of hey,
- 19:44Speaker 1: get him out here, four or five rounds, this is
- 19:45Speaker 1: a scrimmage.
- 19:46Speaker 2: No, no, no, no, no. You had to really work
- 19:48Speaker 2: for this. So those are things I kind of look
- 19:51Speaker 2: for when it comes to fights.
- 19:52Speaker 1: You know, when it comes to the favorite and guys
- 19:54Speaker 1: that are challenging the favorite, you know, what's the challenge
- 19:56Speaker 1: you're doing?
- 19:57Speaker 2: Are they here for a paycheck? Are they trying to win?
- 20:00Speaker 2: What's the fight?
- 20:00Speaker 1: We saw a couple weeks ago. Was that Doula Mason
- 20:03Speaker 1: in Cleveland when he fought the random guy?
- 20:06Speaker 3: Yeah, Albert Hall, I believe, yeah, like.
- 20:08Speaker 1: Stuff like that, right, random guy had they go in
- 20:12Speaker 1: and fight. The odds were insane, like no one had that,
- 20:15Speaker 1: but going into the rounds, I mean, you know, uh,
- 20:19Speaker 1: some people's cards had different things. So with all that
- 20:22Speaker 1: being said, you just never know, you know, you just
- 20:24Speaker 1: never know. So that's why I think it's imperative to
- 20:26Speaker 1: statement acting, because the one thing you don't want is this.
- 20:29Speaker 1: You don't want to stay away for a year and
- 20:30Speaker 1: a half, two years, come back, you look sloppy, you
- 20:33Speaker 1: start dropping, people start questioning you, and then that's how
- 20:37Speaker 1: things get very weird.
- 20:38Speaker 3: So sure, and first of all, apologies, Albert Bell was
- 20:41Speaker 3: was that opponent, And yeah and yeah, like I said
- 20:45Speaker 3: at the episode when we recapt that fight at the
- 20:48Speaker 3: end of that I are halfway through. I really thought
- 20:50Speaker 3: that Albert Belt won that first half of the fight.
- 20:53Speaker 3: Like to me, it was no question he was.
- 20:55Speaker 1: When we were texting at Miller, hey, like, this is
- 20:58Speaker 1: what's going on here now? He was probably up until
- 21:01Speaker 1: round eight. Then he has ran out of gas, which happens.
- 21:04Speaker 1: But but nah, man, like nah, It's one of those things, man.
- 21:07Speaker 2: Where.
- 21:10Speaker 1: Fights are very unique and you can never truly predict
- 21:15Speaker 1: one hundred percentone's gonna happen. So but a lot of
- 21:17Speaker 1: beings said David should do it's best for him, take
- 21:21Speaker 1: the matches out the best for his situation.
- 21:22Speaker 2: Whoever plan he has set up, he should do that.
- 21:25Speaker 1: But I don't think there's anyone that is in his
- 21:29Speaker 1: area as worth ducking. I don't think him not fighting
- 21:32Speaker 1: someone is considered a duck. I personally don't consider that.
- 21:35Speaker 1: I could be wrong, but I don't see him outward
- 21:38Speaker 1: avoiding someone, and that's someone being seriously a serious challenger
- 21:42Speaker 1: to him at this time.
- 21:44Speaker 2: I don't see. I could be wrong, but I personally
- 21:45Speaker 2: don't see that that's fair.
- 21:48Speaker 3: I think that there's a lot of chatter for boxing
- 21:51Speaker 3: pans that they seem to be down on a lot
- 21:53Speaker 3: of fights if they don't know the name or but
- 21:55Speaker 3: they say they always say they're fighting and nobody blah
- 21:57Speaker 3: blah blah. But yeah, we've had plenty of examples where
- 22:00Speaker 3: fighters get tested and it turns out into a great fight.
- 22:03Speaker 3: I think we should stop expecting, you know, everything to
- 22:06Speaker 3: be a mega fight. For me, as a fan fan
- 22:08Speaker 3: of not just boxing, but David Benavitez, I'd rather see
- 22:11Speaker 3: him consistently twice a year than fighting a mega fight
- 22:15Speaker 3: every single time, you know what I mean. If I
- 22:18Speaker 3: let's say, let's say he gets a chance to fight Vivol,
- 22:21Speaker 3: you know, uh, just this time next year, and he
- 22:24Speaker 3: just takes that entire year off, I don't want that.
- 22:26Speaker 3: Like I I'd rather see him on the screen in
- 22:29Speaker 3: the ring more often. But that's me personally. I just
- 22:33Speaker 3: I want I want to see more fights, and I
- 22:34Speaker 3: want to see my guys in the ring, and who knows,
- 22:37Speaker 3: you know, Like I said, We're I'm not here sitting
- 22:38Speaker 3: here talking shit about this guy, Michael says Lak, I
- 22:42Speaker 3: just don't know anything about him. Maybe he's a fantastic fighter,
- 22:46Speaker 3: maybe he's gonna put in a great performance. Just because
- 22:49Speaker 3: I never heard him doesn't mean he sucks, you know that.
- 22:52Speaker 1: But also too is like, here's the thing. Every fight
- 22:55Speaker 1: has a different motion to her right, Every fight has
- 22:58Speaker 1: a agenda for it. Every fight could be a weight
- 23:00Speaker 1: or a nowter if I could be a championship fight.
- 23:02Speaker 1: Some fights, some are purpose Some fights are getting guys
- 23:04Speaker 1: back in shape, some guys getting guys ready for the
- 23:07Speaker 1: next fight.
- 23:08Speaker 2: So everything has on purpose.
- 23:10Speaker 1: I think a lot of times the casual fan will
- 23:12Speaker 1: kind of get mad because why they fight him. There's
- 23:15Speaker 1: usually a purpose for that. A lot of times, stay sharp,
- 23:19Speaker 1: stay on point, try different things out. There's been several
- 23:22Speaker 1: times where you'll see a guy not look at sharp,
- 23:25Speaker 1: but he's he's experimented in different styles, experiment with different
- 23:29Speaker 1: things he's working on for the future fights. So those
- 23:31Speaker 1: are things that happen in fights as well.
- 23:34Speaker 3: That's a very good point something to remember too. So
- 23:39Speaker 3: things fell through with Benavidez and Noel mccaleyan, Like I said,
- 23:42Speaker 3: now mcalean will be fighting Japatia both cruiserweights. Here's the thing.
- 23:47Speaker 3: Noe Kelean has the WBC cruiserweight belt. So if Jayopataia wins,
- 23:54Speaker 3: he gets that belt, and David Benavitez really wants to
- 23:57Speaker 3: go for undisputed or win more championships, then he's got
- 24:00Speaker 3: to do it at that point, and.
- 24:01Speaker 2: You would see it.
- 24:02Speaker 1: We would see because now you have now there's a
- 24:04Speaker 1: pathway of saying, hey, this fight matters for X amount
- 24:07Speaker 1: of reasons right now.
- 24:09Speaker 2: Now, then if he avoids that, then it's older.
- 24:12Speaker 1: For conversation because at the end of the day, you
- 24:13Speaker 1: want to have all the belts, Like, that's the thing
- 24:15Speaker 1: at the end of the day as a boxer usual
- 24:18Speaker 1: being that good and being you know, that feared and
- 24:20Speaker 1: that respected, you would have all the belts, all of them.
- 24:24Speaker 1: And if that obviously presents itself, I would be shocked
- 24:27Speaker 1: if that fight didn't happen.
- 24:29Speaker 3: Yeah, absolutely, So you know, if people really want to
- 24:31Speaker 3: see it, then let's then how about this. If Jaya
- 24:34Speaker 3: Bataia is that good that there are a lot of
- 24:36Speaker 3: people that think he would kick Bena Beatus his ass.
- 24:38Speaker 3: We're not one of them. We're not. We're not those people.
- 24:41Speaker 3: But if they really believe that he kicks us, then
- 24:43Speaker 3: he's got to show up and take care of business
- 24:44Speaker 3: against the Michle And when they fight in September, they're
- 24:47Speaker 3: actually going to fight in the Ryan Garcia versus Connor
- 24:51Speaker 3: Ben cart Yeah, yeah, so sneaky.
- 24:55Speaker 2: Good under Okay, okay, okay, So yeah you.
- 24:59Speaker 3: Got you got Ryan and I'm in too fight Connor
- 25:00Speaker 3: Ben's a Zoo fight. You got Opataia is with ZUFA
- 25:03Speaker 3: fighting Michalean. So there, In terms of Zufa's fights, this
- 25:07Speaker 3: is probably least the one. I'm like, kind of perks
- 25:09Speaker 3: my ears up, makes me thinking, like, all right, let's
- 25:11Speaker 3: see how this turns out. Now we've got some names. Now,
- 25:13Speaker 3: we've got some possible heat here, some some options for
- 25:16Speaker 3: you know who people are going to fight next. I'm intrigued,
- 25:21Speaker 3: I'll say that. But yeah, like I said, if Jay
- 25:23Speaker 3: Obatie takes that care of business, then definitely David. But
- 25:28Speaker 3: if he just got to do it, and if he doesn't,
- 25:29Speaker 3: then we can talk about why. If he's unsure and
- 25:31Speaker 3: if he's yet like ducking whatever.
- 25:34Speaker 1: And everything that we know about David Benafida is that
- 25:36Speaker 1: would be He's very shocking everything we've seen from him,
- 25:39Speaker 1: heard from him, we've never get He's never given away
- 25:42Speaker 1: that kind of energy.
- 25:44Speaker 2: So if that will all of a sudden come about,
- 25:46Speaker 2: I'd be kind of shocked.
- 25:48Speaker 3: It's it's so weird, Like it's for for a lot
- 25:51Speaker 3: of fighters, you have this idea of like where they
- 25:53Speaker 3: could go and who they could fight. And you know,
- 25:55Speaker 3: we were talking about Kishan fighting Devin Haney. Seems like
- 25:58Speaker 3: a natural matchup. Seems like a idea went the ship.
- 26:02Speaker 3: We blame Keishan Davis. I think that's no secret.
- 26:04Speaker 1: Yes, that's still an unfortunate situation because here's the thing.
- 26:09Speaker 1: Even if you take a bad deal this time, right,
- 26:12Speaker 1: let's say your your deal is your deal. Let's say
- 26:14Speaker 1: you got to give a third of it to somebody.
- 26:16Speaker 1: If you win this fight, your earning power goes up tremendously,
- 26:21Speaker 1: So it's not about oh I need more money now. Well,
- 26:24Speaker 1: if you win, you can demand eight figures on the
- 26:28Speaker 1: next fight. So that's why it was so dumb. It
- 26:30Speaker 1: was very it was very short sighted with that. And
- 26:33Speaker 1: that's also that you don't have confidence in this fight either.
- 26:36Speaker 1: You don't have confidence that you can be hanging. That's
- 26:38Speaker 1: what it told me.
- 26:40Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean there's a lot of speculation that you know,
- 26:44Speaker 3: Kishan thought he was gonna lose, but at least he'd
- 26:46Speaker 3: walk out with a bag, so whatever, you know. But yeah,
- 26:51Speaker 3: but yeah, but specifically about you know, they're going to
- 26:54Speaker 3: be this fighting this this guy seees like I mean,
- 26:57Speaker 3: like I said, he if he wins and then you know,
- 27:00Speaker 3: for whatever reason, beevo or better be ever free at
- 27:03Speaker 3: the beginning of next year, ord may whatever happens. So
- 27:06Speaker 3: maybe he will go back down to light heavyweight and
- 27:08Speaker 3: take that fight instead and then want to go you
- 27:11Speaker 3: know what I'm saying, Like, it's just as.
- 27:13Speaker 1: Long as he's fighting guys that are credible and guys
- 27:17Speaker 1: that fans want to see.
- 27:18Speaker 2: I don't think it's a problem. Like that's the thing.
- 27:20Speaker 1: As long as the fights that are made makes sense,
- 27:23Speaker 1: we're cool. What we don't want is two or three
- 27:26Speaker 1: fights in a row being like why is he doing this?
- 27:29Speaker 1: That's when it gets weird. That's like, huh, like because
- 27:33Speaker 1: think about like whoever your favorite fighter is, everybody's every favorite,
- 27:37Speaker 1: everybody's favorite boxers had a fire to us, like why
- 27:40Speaker 1: is he fighting him?
- 27:41Speaker 2: Even and it's not a mandatory challenger it's not eveything.
- 27:44Speaker 2: It's just like it's how the fight shook out, and
- 27:46Speaker 2: it's like why is he fighting him?
- 27:47Speaker 1: And then you get some reason in the press conference
- 27:50Speaker 1: or whatever whatever, but it doesn't really make sense to
- 27:53Speaker 1: the fan point of view.
- 27:55Speaker 2: But that happens with everyone. However, you can't have two
- 27:58Speaker 2: or three of those in a row.
- 27:59Speaker 1: You can have one, especially if you're coming off like
- 28:01Speaker 1: an injury, or you're coming off something with your body,
- 28:03Speaker 1: or you're trying to you're trying to do something different
- 28:06Speaker 1: with your with your advantages and whatnot, your skill set. Cool,
- 28:10Speaker 1: that's fine, but you can't have two or three with
- 28:13Speaker 1: the fuck fights in a row. That doesn't that doesn't work, Like,
- 28:16Speaker 1: you can't do that.
- 28:18Speaker 3: Yeah, But the most the most recent when I can
- 28:20Speaker 3: think of that really was like, what the hell's happening here?
- 28:22Speaker 3: Was Canelo versus Berlanga. I was like, come on, man,
- 28:27Speaker 3: you know you know we love for like this show.
- 28:29Speaker 1: Although I actually it makes sense though, because at least
- 28:33Speaker 1: the Mexican Puerto Rican rivalry is always a reason. Like
- 28:38Speaker 1: that actually makes sense, not from necessarily a boxing standpoint,
- 28:41Speaker 1: but from a sailing standpoint. You got to remember when
- 28:44Speaker 1: people are putting up this money. These fights you gotta make,
- 28:47Speaker 1: you gotta make money. So if you can pick those
- 28:49Speaker 1: two against each other for a weekend, yeah, that makes sense.
- 28:54Speaker 3: Well, and also, let's keep in mind, you know, you
- 28:55Speaker 3: and I have talked about the fact that canel specifically
- 28:57Speaker 3: he can retire and he doesn't have anything left to prove.
- 28:59Speaker 3: We both said that Benavidez still isn't the star that
- 29:03Speaker 3: he could potentially be.
- 29:05Speaker 2: Well, so here's the thing.
- 29:06Speaker 1: You guys mentioned that on the One show a few
- 29:09Speaker 1: months ago, where he's a Mexican American, is there a
- 29:14Speaker 1: way he can get popular like that with those being situations?
- 29:21Speaker 3: At the end of the day, I think that, you know,
- 29:23Speaker 3: if he keeps fighting, he keeps fighting as aggressively and
- 29:26Speaker 3: dominating like he does, you know he's going to become,
- 29:28Speaker 3: you know, just unignorable. But yeah, I mean, at the
- 29:33Speaker 3: end of the day, the Mexican American fighter is not
- 29:36Speaker 3: going to have that much as much hype as you know,
- 29:38Speaker 3: a Canelo is going to have. Ever, I think Canelos
- 29:41Speaker 3: came out and said there's an interview where he was
- 29:43Speaker 3: straight up set benavide is a Mexican and I personally
- 29:47Speaker 3: think that's kind of shitty. Uh the what you know,
- 29:50Speaker 3: my buddy, our buddy Tony has said on the show before,
- 29:52Speaker 3: is it what it comes down to is do you
- 29:53Speaker 3: fight like a Mexican or don't you? And Benavidez does so. Yeah,
- 29:58Speaker 3: it's definitely an uphill climb for him to to grab
- 30:01Speaker 3: that fan base. But I don't know, man, I mean,
- 30:03Speaker 3: Oscar Deloya didn't have a Mexican national, Mexican fan base,
- 30:08Speaker 3: and still you know, became start such a badass.
- 30:11Speaker 1: He was different though, because marketability wise and timing of everything.
- 30:17Speaker 1: He fought the Olympics when the Olympics were back on TV.
- 30:20Speaker 1: Like a lot of things when right for Austin. But
- 30:21Speaker 1: you are correct the end of the day, he was
- 30:23Speaker 1: a badass, So you are correct.
- 30:25Speaker 3: At the end of the day. I think that's going
- 30:26Speaker 3: to be David Benavitez's you know, biggest success is looking
- 30:30Speaker 3: like he has in the ring and dominating. And you've
- 30:33Speaker 3: said it before. You know, when you're a knockout guy,
- 30:34Speaker 3: you're gonna get the casual fan.
- 30:36Speaker 1: You know.
- 30:37Speaker 2: That's how so popular why Triple D was very popular
- 30:41Speaker 2: just because of.
- 30:42Speaker 3: How he fought absolutely so at the I've I've said
- 30:45Speaker 3: it before that. You know, I've never liked that attitude of, oh,
- 30:49Speaker 3: this fight is boring because there there's no knockouts, like
- 30:51Speaker 3: and I don't like that mindset, especially, you know, just
- 30:54Speaker 3: being such a fan of the technical technicality of really
- 30:57Speaker 3: good fighters as well. But even I can deny the
- 31:00Speaker 3: popularity of it of seeing a guy dominate, like I
- 31:03Speaker 3: get it, you know, I understand that. I just I'll
- 31:06Speaker 3: say this, I just don't really like when fans just
- 31:08Speaker 3: poop with a guy like Shakur Stevenson because he doesn't
- 31:10Speaker 3: have knockout power, you know what I'm saying, if he
- 31:13Speaker 3: didn't have any talent.
- 31:14Speaker 1: Yeah, And here's the thing though, so there's a lot
- 31:16Speaker 1: of comparisons between him and Floyd Mayweather at the same age.
- 31:19Speaker 1: So young Floyd Mayweather was knocking people out. However, he
- 31:23Speaker 1: would break his hands and risk in those fights. So
- 31:26Speaker 1: he stopped doing that and started outpointing people. But young Floyd,
- 31:31Speaker 1: pre boy Floyd, that guy was dropping people left and right,
- 31:34Speaker 1: like that guy was a terror. The older guy, the
- 31:38Speaker 1: money Mayweather guy, total different fighter, toy, different persona toidffer situation.
- 31:43Speaker 2: Got the job done kind of like Shakur. You could
- 31:46Speaker 2: see the resemblance either.
- 31:47Speaker 1: There's a lot of similarities, but your core does not
- 31:50Speaker 1: impose his power on other boxers like he probably could
- 31:54Speaker 1: or should. But he wins fights, so it's kind of
- 31:57Speaker 1: hard long as you're winning fights and winning them as
- 31:59Speaker 1: impressive is he is, Like I don't see an issue
- 32:02Speaker 1: with it.
- 32:03Speaker 2: I don't.
- 32:05Speaker 3: I agree, Yeah, I think just you know whatever, fans
- 32:09Speaker 3: just have two short of attention spans for twelve rounds
- 32:11Speaker 3: sometimes and I'm like, come on, guys, But.
- 32:15Speaker 2: She's clearly annoying. Though outside of the ring he could
- 32:18Speaker 2: be a bit of annoying.
- 32:18Speaker 1: I think he does good for boxing, but he coming
- 32:22Speaker 1: across as like a liner and a complainer at times
- 32:24Speaker 1: about things. I think he's too good, so that should
- 32:27Speaker 1: affect him, Like he's too he's so good as a
- 32:30Speaker 1: boxer that he shouldn't replied to any of that nonsense
- 32:33Speaker 1: on social media. He should because he's that good, Like
- 32:36Speaker 1: he is best fighter in the world. Good, that's how
- 32:39Speaker 1: good he is. But he lets a lot of the
- 32:41Speaker 1: bs get to him. It's like, bro, like, don't be
- 32:43Speaker 1: fond of that, Like why what are you doing? Like
- 32:45Speaker 1: there's no need to respond to hecklers or to someone
- 32:48Speaker 1: else's life, like him and Devin Haty's dad were getting
- 32:50Speaker 1: into it.
- 32:51Speaker 2: It's just like, bro, what are we doing? Like this
- 32:53Speaker 2: is dumb.
- 32:55Speaker 3: You know who doesn't get into bullshit like that on
- 32:57Speaker 3: social media? No oh yeah, anyway, the man who just says,
- 33:01Speaker 3: set up the fight, let's go and you know, do
- 33:03Speaker 3: it or don't. And yeah, he doesn't waste his time
- 33:05Speaker 3: just kind of sniping. Noah Knoy is a consummate professional
- 33:09Speaker 3: when it comes to bus like like no other I've
- 33:12Speaker 3: seen in recent memory. Uh and yeah, it's just kind
- 33:15Speaker 3: of wasted time to be yapping and this and that,
- 33:18Speaker 3: like make the fight, set up the date. Maybe I
- 33:21Speaker 3: don't know, Maybe the younger guys, maybe like a Chakur
- 33:23Speaker 3: can benefit from red tracting, like put in the car
- 33:28Speaker 3: before the horse and saying I'm gonna fight twice a
- 33:30Speaker 3: year whatever in the spring and the winter, and like
- 33:33Speaker 3: whoever wants it, let's let's fucking get it. You know
- 33:35Speaker 3: what I'm saying.
- 33:36Speaker 1: Thing though, you can say whatever you want, but you're
- 33:38Speaker 1: gonna have to want to control. Doesn't matter what you say.
- 33:41Speaker 1: Zufa's in control, then we gotta do a Zufa says,
- 33:45Speaker 1: So I don't.
- 33:46Speaker 3: Know sure, but if I mean, if it wants to
- 33:50Speaker 3: put their guy out on the ring, so like you know,
- 33:51Speaker 3: let's hit.
- 33:53Speaker 1: But it's it's kind of weird because he should have
- 33:55Speaker 1: already have. I mean, this whole announcement got made a
- 33:59Speaker 1: couple months back, and there's still no official announcement of correct,
- 34:04Speaker 1: no no.
- 34:05Speaker 3: Names, no dates, nothing. There's would have rumors you know
- 34:09Speaker 3: of what we want. So uh and that's again you
- 34:12Speaker 3: know we're talking about zoof specifically. But yeah, I guess
- 34:15Speaker 3: somebody else, like a Devin Haney, Like why wouldn't say,
- 34:17Speaker 3: you know, yeah, I'm you.
- 34:20Speaker 2: Would think I think about it. Hitches in Bolonga got
- 34:25Speaker 2: announced in May.
- 34:26Speaker 1: They fought in like six weeks later or is basically
- 34:31Speaker 1: the face of ZUFA Boxing, and he's got a date
- 34:34Speaker 1: like two months Like I don't, I don't get something
- 34:37Speaker 1: doesn't quite make sense. But also, yes, you're correct, Zufer
- 34:41Speaker 1: wants to get their product out there, but they don't.
- 34:44Speaker 1: They're not in a normal situation. It's not a top
- 34:46Speaker 1: rank or a BBC or any goal. It's not it's
- 34:51Speaker 1: a totally for operations. I don't know what the goal
- 34:54Speaker 1: or plan is that I think he does fight sooner
- 34:56Speaker 1: or later, but the opponent's unknown and locations unknown and
- 35:01Speaker 1: quiet as kept Kin Shakur really saw an arena being
- 35:05Speaker 1: the headline guy.
- 35:06Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't know.
- 35:08Speaker 3: I'm just saying, you know, he does have a lot
- 35:10Speaker 3: of pull in Jersey, you know where he's from. He's
- 35:14Speaker 3: got a I get. Here's here's what I guess. I'm
- 35:18Speaker 3: going to boil it down to these all these ideas
- 35:20Speaker 3: I've had, they got running through my head. I guess
- 35:23Speaker 3: it doesn't make it makes perfect sense. Why Canelo and
- 35:26Speaker 3: oother Mexican fighters or you know, big names like a
- 35:28Speaker 3: Floyd they fight on Mexican Segudo Mayo and Mexican dependence.
- 35:32Speaker 3: Other fighters to do for pick whatever, pick fucking say
- 35:35Speaker 3: Patrick's day. I don't care. You know what I'm saying,
- 35:37Speaker 3: Like pick that time of year spring, say you know,
- 35:40Speaker 3: I'm I'm a guy. I want to fight in March.
- 35:42Speaker 3: My birthdays in March. I want to fight for my
- 35:43Speaker 3: birthday and just try to stay consistent. You know, things happened.
- 35:47Speaker 3: Canel didn't fight Mexican Independenceday against Kayleb Plant because of negotiations.
- 35:51Speaker 3: It happened later. But we were expecting a Canelo opponent
- 35:55Speaker 3: to be announced, you know, in like July or whatever
- 35:57Speaker 3: or August. You know what I'm saying there, people leaving
- 36:00Speaker 3: money on the table, just say like, yeah, oh, I'm
- 36:04Speaker 3: gonna fight every Thanksgiving era, you know, around that time,
- 36:08Speaker 3: and just do whatever you can, even if it's like a, yeah,
- 36:11Speaker 3: a smaller named opponent, somebody that you know, we don't
- 36:13Speaker 3: know as well, if we can expect to get an
- 36:16Speaker 3: announcement from from you around that time, you know, I'll
- 36:19Speaker 3: be issuing. I'm like, oh, any day now, we're gonna
- 36:21Speaker 3: hear it. Any any episode now, we're gonna be announcing
- 36:24Speaker 3: shaquurse Thanksgiving opponent. You know what I'm saying. No, I
- 36:28Speaker 3: just I just don't get like why it seems like
- 36:30Speaker 3: such an easy formula a crack and it's not like
- 36:34Speaker 3: it's a new thing like fighters have been, you know,
- 36:36Speaker 3: doing this for grades for as long as we've been alive.
- 36:39Speaker 3: My god. So yeah, let's let's let's get let's get
- 36:44Speaker 3: our asses in gears, guys. But yeah, I'd be very
- 36:47Speaker 3: happy to see you know, Benavitas back before the end
- 36:49Speaker 3: of the year. We've had an excellent summer, uh with
- 36:52Speaker 3: with scheduled fights and yeah, uh, and this is something
- 36:56Speaker 3: you know, not as Clarisia shield is coming back this
- 37:00Speaker 3: weekend August fifteenth, fighting for a middleweight after just winning heavyweight,
- 37:04Speaker 3: coming back down with her. I'm a fan. We all
- 37:06Speaker 3: love Clarisa Shields, but it's also one of those it's
- 37:08Speaker 3: like we know how it's gonna go down. There's there's
- 37:12Speaker 3: not a lot of analysis and a Clarissy Shields tie
- 37:14Speaker 3: for us. But but I'm excited to see her back
- 37:17Speaker 3: this weekend. She'd be on his own.
- 37:18Speaker 2: Uh.
- 37:19Speaker 3: And then yeah, you know, we're coming up on September
- 37:23Speaker 3: and at the very least that card with you know,
- 37:28Speaker 3: Brian Garcia and Jay Opataia. I'm interested. I'm very, very curious,
- 37:33Speaker 3: And like I said, I gave credit to Zoo for
- 37:34Speaker 3: the last time for having a couple of really good
- 37:37Speaker 3: fights on the previous card. And then yes, of course,
- 37:41Speaker 3: the the next two big names Saturday, August twenty second,
- 37:45Speaker 3: Telfem Lopus versus Roly Romero, and we're gonna have full
- 37:49Speaker 3: coverage of that and full predictions on the next episode.
- 37:51Speaker 3: So but I think that's what we got for now.
