- 0:10Speaker 1: Hey, everybody, we are up and running with the latest
- 0:12Speaker 1: edition of Birds Weekly, presented by the Inside the Birds
- 0:15Speaker 1: netword for Ray didn't drum our gun and Ray. You
- 0:19Speaker 1: know that old saying, when it rains, it pours, Well,
- 0:22Speaker 1: it is monsooning all over the Philadelphia Eagles. As of late,
- 0:28Speaker 1: we knew this would be a down and dirty type game.
- 0:31Speaker 1: A hard fought Chargers defense is very good. The Eagles
- 0:37Speaker 1: promised us that we will see some different things in
- 0:40Speaker 1: our offense, and we did. We saw some different formations,
- 0:43Speaker 1: we saw some different plays, but we didn't see enough.
- 0:47Speaker 1: Ray just didn't see enough. And I want to start
- 0:50Speaker 1: at the end before we get to the beginning and
- 0:53Speaker 1: go through this game. There's over two minutes and thirty
- 0:57Speaker 1: seconds left in this game. You're driving for at least
- 1:02Speaker 1: a tie, at least a tie. You get all the
- 1:05Speaker 1: way to the Charger's seventeen yard line, you have a
- 1:09Speaker 1: first and ten, and what do you do. You have
- 1:13Speaker 1: your quarterback roll to his right and throw an off
- 1:18Speaker 1: balanced pass to the wrong guy. You had Dallas Goddard
- 1:23Speaker 1: in the underneath route. Oh no, you go to Johann
- 1:28Speaker 1: Dodson in the corridor and sand was then between two
- 1:32Speaker 1: guys and lower behall heart, bast the ball up. Next
- 1:37Speaker 1: guy picks it off. Good night, game over. Why Ray,
- 1:41Speaker 1: why would you not run the ball at least to
- 1:44Speaker 1: kill some more time on the clock and get a
- 1:46Speaker 1: little bit closer and then maybe just maybe take a
- 1:48Speaker 1: couple of shots at the end zone. For the life
- 1:50Speaker 1: of me, Ray, explain this to me. Please.
- 1:54Speaker 2: I wish I could. I wish I could. I was
- 1:58Speaker 2: thinking the same thing as you, as I think most
- 2:00Speaker 2: people were. It didn't make a lot of sense. I mean,
- 2:04Speaker 2: maybe maybe giving the Eagles coaches the benefit of the doubt,
- 2:13Speaker 2: they're thinking, well, that's what they expect, so we're going
- 2:16Speaker 2: to do something else, even if it's a bad idea. No,
- 2:22Speaker 2: there was a lot of stuff that happened in that
- 2:24Speaker 2: game that you and I could talk about until Friday
- 2:32Speaker 2: and probably and probably still not cover at all. When
- 2:37Speaker 2: you said when you started off here saying that the
- 2:40Speaker 2: Eagles promised that to show us some different things, and
- 2:43Speaker 2: they did. Yeah, in terms of formation, a little bit
- 2:47Speaker 2: of motion some of those things. Yeah, that was different.
- 2:52Speaker 2: But the thing that was really different was the eagles
- 2:55Speaker 2: inability to protect the football. I mean that that had
- 2:59Speaker 2: been the one constant throughout the season in terms of
- 3:02Speaker 2: the offense. I mean you could criticize, you know, everybody
- 3:08Speaker 2: was complaining about the three and out, someverybody's complaining about
- 3:11Speaker 2: the hot and cold passing game. I mean, there's a
- 3:13Speaker 2: lot you could point to in the offense that you
- 3:15Speaker 2: found fault with. But we always kept coming back to yes, yes, yes,
- 3:19Speaker 2: but they don't turn the ball over really well in
- 3:23Speaker 2: this game. That's all they did was turned the ball over.
- 3:27Speaker 2: And you know what, what can you say about the defense?
- 3:31Speaker 2: I mean, the defense that really got beat up in
- 3:34Speaker 2: the Chicago game bounced back and played really well in
- 3:37Speaker 2: this one. I mean you just think about this, Derek,
- 3:40Speaker 2: that your offense turned the ball over five times and
- 3:44Speaker 2: yet you still got the game to overtime. Now that
- 3:46Speaker 2: means that your defense played their butts off. This team
- 3:51Speaker 2: turns the offense turns it over five times, and you
- 3:54Speaker 2: still get into overtime where they turn it over yet
- 3:57Speaker 2: one more time and cause your game. But that your
- 4:00Speaker 2: defense even got you to overtime tells you that they
- 4:03Speaker 2: more than did their share. But the offense, oh my goodness.
- 4:07Speaker 2: I mean we're talking about the offense and their shortcomings
- 4:10Speaker 2: and all their woes weekend and week out. But they
- 4:15Speaker 2: may have hit rock bottom in this game. I just
- 4:18Speaker 2: don't know if there's any lower you can go than
- 4:20Speaker 2: what they showed us on Monday night.
- 4:23Speaker 1: First play out of the gate, they go up top
- 4:26Speaker 1: and deep to AJ. You catch the Chargers defense off
- 4:31Speaker 1: guard a little bit, it's right there, and AJ drops it.
- 4:37Speaker 1: The one guy who has complained much of this season
- 4:41Speaker 1: about the stagnant offense, about him not being involved enough
- 4:46Speaker 1: in the offense, Well, the last couple of games he
- 4:49Speaker 1: was involved in the offense. And oh, by the way,
- 4:52Speaker 1: both games he had over one hundred yards receiving and
- 4:54Speaker 1: they lost both games. So right out of the gate,
- 4:57Speaker 1: he go up top to him Ray he drops the ball. Now,
- 5:02Speaker 1: when you look at the slow mo replay, was right
- 5:04Speaker 1: there in his fingertips. You got to give up the
- 5:06Speaker 1: body that ball. You're six two two twenty. You got
- 5:11Speaker 1: to make that catch. Man, There's no excuse for not
- 5:14Speaker 1: making that catch. I don't know, And I will say
- 5:20Speaker 1: this though he's stood up and took ownership after the game.
- 5:24Speaker 1: But still, when you've talked as much as he has
- 5:27Speaker 1: this season and caused some unwarranted maybe in house tensions.
- 5:33Speaker 2: You gotta rise.
- 5:34Speaker 1: You gotta rise up in a moment like that, because
- 5:36Speaker 1: that could have been a defining play the game, the
- 5:38Speaker 1: first play of the game could have been a defining
- 5:41Speaker 1: play of the game, and you miss it.
- 5:45Speaker 2: Yeah, I was thinking the same thing that that. If
- 5:49Speaker 2: you hit that play to start the game, who knows.
- 5:53Speaker 2: I mean maybe the everything, maybe everything that follows is different.
- 5:57Speaker 2: But it was off his fingertips. It was there, and
- 6:03Speaker 2: it was an opportunity to get your team off to
- 6:06Speaker 2: a great start and falls away. The other one was
- 6:13Speaker 2: the ball, maybe the best ball that hurts through all
- 6:17Speaker 2: night was one in the end zone that I mean,
- 6:20Speaker 2: he he really drops it right there in the basket.
- 6:24Speaker 2: I mean it's right there, and I know the defender
- 6:27Speaker 2: gets his arm in there and they're fighting for it
- 6:28Speaker 2: a little bit. So I'm not going to say it
- 6:31Speaker 2: was an easy catch, but it's certainly a catch that
- 6:34Speaker 2: we've seen aj Brown mate a lot of times. And
- 6:39Speaker 2: there it was, I mean, on a on a bad,
- 6:41Speaker 2: bad night, maybe maybe as bad a night as we've
- 6:44Speaker 2: seen Jalen Hurts have in his entire pro career. He
- 6:49Speaker 2: threw you a perfect ball right there and a chance
- 6:52Speaker 2: to get out of there with a big win uh
- 6:55Speaker 2: and AJ sees it slip right through his arms, and
- 6:59Speaker 2: you know you said it. I mean, all this season
- 7:02Speaker 2: there's been the narrative about AJ and his unhappiness with
- 7:06Speaker 2: he's not a big enough part of the offense. He
- 7:08Speaker 2: needs to get more opportunities. He could be the difference maker.
- 7:13Speaker 2: He could get this offense back on track. All they
- 7:16Speaker 2: need to do is get him the ball more. Well,
- 7:19Speaker 2: three straight games now, he's been over one hundred yards
- 7:21Speaker 2: and you lost all three games. So that's kind of
- 7:26Speaker 2: where you are. I mean, it seems like there's no
- 7:33Speaker 2: there's nothing good happening on that side of the ball
- 7:35Speaker 2: right now. And you know, I look at the last
- 7:39Speaker 2: two games, and I mean it's kind of the story
- 7:45Speaker 2: of this season is summed up in little moments, And
- 7:51Speaker 2: in each of the last two games, there's a moment
- 7:54Speaker 2: in there that is an opportunity for the Eagles to
- 8:01Speaker 2: turn a game around and actually turn the loss into
- 8:05Speaker 2: a win. Chicago game, it's after the Jalx Hunt intercept
- 8:11Speaker 2: the screen pass. The Eagles get the ball, Barkley runs
- 8:15Speaker 2: a couple of good runs, they get down deep, they
- 8:18Speaker 2: go for the they go for the toush push hurts
- 8:22Speaker 2: get sacked, Hurts gets the ball ripped out of his hands,
- 8:26Speaker 2: Bears get it, take it down and score into games over.
- 8:30Speaker 2: But you had a feeling in that moment after the interception,
- 8:33Speaker 2: a couple of good plays, you're in position you're going
- 8:36Speaker 2: to toush, push it, score, take the lead for the
- 8:39Speaker 2: first time, and you get the filling. At that point,
- 8:41Speaker 2: the Eagles are just about to take control of the
- 8:43Speaker 2: game and they lose it. And in this game, it
- 8:47Speaker 2: was when they get down to the two yard line
- 8:50Speaker 2: and it looks like they're going to go in and
- 8:54Speaker 2: they decide to throw the ball and you know it's
- 8:57Speaker 2: touchdown what looks like a touchdown pass to j Brown,
- 9:01Speaker 2: but my lot has called for holding. Then they go
- 9:03Speaker 2: back and they throw two more incomplete passes. They settle
- 9:06Speaker 2: for a field goal. Again, another opportunity for the Eagles
- 9:10Speaker 2: sitting right there to score, take control of the game,
- 9:14Speaker 2: and they lose it. And that's the story of this season,
- 9:19Speaker 2: you know, I mean last year, in each of those
- 9:21Speaker 2: spots when the game is in the balance and they
- 9:25Speaker 2: needed to make a play, they made it. And it
- 9:28Speaker 2: seems like this year they get in the same position
- 9:31Speaker 2: and they can't close the deal. And that's why now
- 9:35Speaker 2: they are where they are, I mean, eight and five,
- 9:37Speaker 2: but gasping for air. And I mean you can say
- 9:41Speaker 2: all you want about well, they got an easier schedule
- 9:44Speaker 2: coming up, and they got easier games, and they're going
- 9:47Speaker 2: to get in the playoffs. But the way they're playing
- 9:50Speaker 2: right now, does anybody really care about that? I mean,
- 9:54Speaker 2: the way they're playing right now, do they have a
- 9:55Speaker 2: chance to win a playoff game, even at home? I
- 9:58Speaker 2: would say probably not.
- 10:01Speaker 1: You know, I've even heard people the day after the
- 10:07Speaker 1: game on sports talk radio talking about they don't want
- 10:10Speaker 1: to even see the Eagles get into the playoffs. In
- 10:13Speaker 1: all my years I've been here in Philadelphia, I've never
- 10:16Speaker 1: heard that before. That's how disgusted this fan base is
- 10:20Speaker 1: with this offense. And I specifically say the offense, because
- 10:25Speaker 1: the defense, you know, redeemed itself from the previous two
- 10:30Speaker 1: games they bawled out. I mean, they knew going into
- 10:32Speaker 1: this game. Big Fangio knew going into this game that
- 10:37Speaker 1: the Chargers had a porous offensive line. They were missing
- 10:40Speaker 1: both of their starting tackles out for the season. On
- 10:44Speaker 1: the first play, they lost another offensive lineman and they
- 10:47Speaker 1: just pinned their ears back and kept coming after Justin
- 10:50Speaker 1: Herbert all night and they got seven official sacks with men.
- 10:53Speaker 1: How many hits did they get on Herbert? Every time
- 10:55Speaker 1: you turned around when he stepped back to pass, if
- 10:58Speaker 1: he didn't step up and take off, he was getting
- 11:00Speaker 1: knockdowns like that Weba wobble. You knock him down and
- 11:02Speaker 1: he kept getting back up. So you know, you can't
- 11:05Speaker 1: blame any of this on the defense. As far as
- 11:09Speaker 1: the offense, I mean, let's start where the biggest problem lies.
- 11:14Speaker 1: This quarterback has regressed over the last three weeks, and
- 11:19Speaker 1: you're right, I think this. You know, last week I
- 11:22Speaker 1: said that it might have been his worst game of
- 11:24Speaker 1: the season. But I agree with you one hundred percent
- 11:27Speaker 1: when you said a moment ago, this may have been
- 11:29Speaker 1: the worst game of his career in a lot of ways.
- 11:34Speaker 1: He throws an interception right to a defensive tackle to
- 11:36Speaker 1: drop back in coverage. How do you not see a
- 11:39Speaker 1: person that big standing in the middle of the field,
- 11:42Speaker 1: you know, And then on top of that, he fumbles,
- 11:46Speaker 1: Jalen picks it up, he gets the ball knocked out
- 11:49Speaker 1: of his hands, and the Chargers get the ball back ray.
- 11:53Speaker 1: In all my years of covering football and watching football.
- 11:56Speaker 1: I've never seen a quarterback commit two turnovers on one place. Now,
- 12:01Speaker 1: the official stats stay. The last time it happened that
- 12:04Speaker 1: a player turned the ball over twice a one play
- 12:06Speaker 1: was all the way back in nineteen seventy eight. But
- 12:11Speaker 1: if you're in the quarterback and you get your hands
- 12:12Speaker 1: on the ball, you got to drop to the ground. Man,
- 12:15Speaker 1: hit the ground like a grenade's coming in. What are
- 12:17Speaker 1: you doing standing up knocking around like you're trying to
- 12:19Speaker 1: make a move with the ball? Ray to me, he
- 12:22Speaker 1: appears to be lost at this stage of the season.
- 12:25Speaker 1: He appears to be lost.
- 12:28Speaker 2: It certainly looked like that Monday night. It certainly looked
- 12:32Speaker 2: like that Monday night. There was there were so many
- 12:39Speaker 2: moments there where he just well, the one thing. And
- 12:43Speaker 2: I already mentioned it before, but it bears repeating. I
- 12:46Speaker 2: mean the one thing. Even though Hurts had not had
- 12:50Speaker 2: a good year at all. I mean his defenders, of
- 12:54Speaker 2: which I was one. All along, we're saying, well, he's
- 12:59Speaker 2: not turning the ball over for you know, he's not
- 13:01Speaker 2: making the big mistakes. Uh, he's not getting you know,
- 13:05Speaker 2: he's not getting you beat. That's how you're winning these games,
- 13:08Speaker 2: is you're winning the giveaway takeaway, because quarterback isn't making
- 13:11Speaker 2: those kinds of mistakes. Well he made, you know, he
- 13:16Speaker 2: made a bunch of them in this game. And some
- 13:21Speaker 2: of the some of his some of the I don't
- 13:25Speaker 2: want to say bad habits, but I guess I can't.
- 13:28Speaker 2: I don't know how else I would describe him some
- 13:30Speaker 2: of the some of the bad habits, some of the
- 13:32Speaker 2: flaws in his game really were very much in evidence
- 13:36Speaker 2: in this game. I mean just the just late getting
- 13:42Speaker 2: the ball out, and I mean it's just I mean,
- 13:45Speaker 2: you see that from during the games, and you're and
- 13:47Speaker 2: you're just come on, get rid of it, you know,
- 13:50Speaker 2: get rid of it. And and at least two of
- 13:55Speaker 2: the interceptions were a direct result of that. It's just
- 14:00Speaker 2: it's just late throwing the ball. I mean the one
- 14:03Speaker 2: the one hook that he's trying to throw to DeVante Smith,
- 14:09Speaker 2: a little hitch route at when when Smith makes the turn,
- 14:15Speaker 2: he's open, but the ball is so late getting there
- 14:21Speaker 2: that the corner has the corner sitting on it and
- 14:24Speaker 2: he has time to come in get in front of
- 14:26Speaker 2: Smith to make the interception. The ball's thrown on time,
- 14:29Speaker 2: it's probably a completion, and instead it turns into a turnover.
- 14:35Speaker 2: It was just it was just that kind of night.
- 14:38Speaker 2: And you're right. I mean the player he throws the
- 14:41Speaker 2: interception to the defensive the nose tackle. I mean, it's
- 14:47Speaker 2: that's one of those sort of inverted zone blitz kinds
- 14:50Speaker 2: of things. You know, where the pressure's coming from. Here
- 14:53Speaker 2: you're sending guys from the secondary and the defensive linemen
- 14:56Speaker 2: are dropping. It's I mean, how did you not see?
- 15:01Speaker 2: And then the defenders is right in your line of site.
- 15:05Speaker 3: Hey, one thing that always scares me is the latest
- 15:07Speaker 3: financial scam. And with the holidays, it's all about finding
- 15:10Speaker 3: the perfect gift. But this time of the year, not
- 15:13Speaker 3: every deal is actually what it seems. You've got these
- 15:15Speaker 3: scammers getting more creative to trick people into sharing their

- 16:18Speaker 2: I mean, it's those are the kind of things that
- 16:20Speaker 2: I mean. Heck a a rookie free agency is that?
- 16:23Speaker 2: I mean, how does he not see that? It was
- 16:28Speaker 2: and it just it was just a nightmarish game for him.
- 16:33Speaker 2: And it's been that kind of a season. This was
- 16:37Speaker 2: the worst of it, obviously, but it's been it's been
- 16:41Speaker 2: building to this and now the question is, you know,
- 16:45Speaker 2: where do you go from here?
- 16:46Speaker 1: Now?
- 16:46Speaker 2: I know, and you were listening to some talk radio today,
- 16:52Speaker 2: I was too. I was in the car, so I
- 16:54Speaker 2: was driving and I was listening, and I knew we
- 16:57Speaker 2: were going to hear this. I knew we were going
- 16:59Speaker 2: to hear Benjamin played Nicky. You know, it's get him
- 17:04Speaker 2: out of there and put Tanner McKee in. Uh And
- 17:10Speaker 2: come on, I mean that's that that ain't happening, okay.
- 17:14Speaker 2: I mean there is no way, there is no way
- 17:18Speaker 2: that Nick Sirianni would do that. I mean, you don't
- 17:22Speaker 2: bench the Super Bowl MVP for a guy who's played
- 17:27Speaker 2: one NFL game. I mean that just that just doesn't happen. Uh.
- 17:31Speaker 2: And and I wouldn't advocate it happening. I mean, you
- 17:36Speaker 2: got to go with this guy. But the point is,
- 17:39Speaker 2: somewhere here the coaches have to have to work out
- 17:44Speaker 2: the problems that he's got in his game because right now,
- 17:46Speaker 2: well in this game, for sure, they're killing you.
- 17:51Speaker 1: Is it too late to fix what's broken with him?
- 17:55Speaker 1: I mean, when you think about how late we are
- 17:57Speaker 1: in the season, I don't know if there's a way
- 18:01Speaker 1: to fix him right in a lot of ways, you know,
- 18:05Speaker 1: I remember him saying this offense is going to be
- 18:08Speaker 1: run how Jalen wants it to be run? You know,
- 18:11Speaker 1: I remember him making a quote like that. You know,
- 18:16Speaker 1: we've talked throughout the season about players disgruntled with the
- 18:20Speaker 1: way the offense is being run. We've talked extensively about
- 18:25Speaker 1: this lack of running game, which finally found some footing
- 18:28Speaker 1: in this game against the Chargers, but not sustained enough
- 18:32Speaker 1: to get him over the hump. But the passing game, right,
- 18:38Speaker 1: he's over his last what five games, He's completing like
- 18:41Speaker 1: fifty seven percent of his passes. Are you kidding me?
- 18:45Speaker 1: Can he be salvaged at this point of a season.
- 18:51Speaker 2: For a good question? I don't know. I don't know.
- 18:57Speaker 2: I mean, are some things that you could do? I've
- 19:02Speaker 2: one of the things that I thought that I thought
- 19:06Speaker 2: Troy Aikman in broadcasting the game without without being critical,
- 19:12Speaker 2: I mean, it wasn't being critical of herts, but was
- 19:16Speaker 2: being very analytical of herts. He wasn't saying he's playing terrible,
- 19:22Speaker 2: or he's killing his team, or he's taking away their
- 19:24Speaker 2: chance to win. Yeah, I mean, he didn't go there,
- 19:27Speaker 2: but I thought at half a dozen or so specific
- 19:31Speaker 2: points in the game, put his finger right on the problem.
- 19:35Speaker 2: You know, there's there are people open down there. You
- 19:38Speaker 2: know there are people open on this route, you know,
- 19:41Speaker 2: and he's just not seeing them right now. And it's
- 19:46Speaker 2: the same thing that we've been saying all year. Uh
- 19:49Speaker 2: And and Aikman, I thought, pointed it out a lot
- 19:53Speaker 2: and said, you know, there are opportunities here for plays
- 19:56Speaker 2: in the passing game. There are opportunities here for him
- 19:59Speaker 2: to There are open receivers out there. You know, he
- 20:03Speaker 2: just doesn't seem to be finding him. He just doesn't
- 20:04Speaker 2: seem to be seeing them right now. And that's been
- 20:09Speaker 2: what Philadelphia fans who have actually been paying attention have
- 20:12Speaker 2: been saying all year. And Aikman pointed it out multiple
- 20:17Speaker 2: times the other night, and it was true. I mean,
- 20:20Speaker 2: there were some balls that he was throwing, in some
- 20:22Speaker 2: cases trying to get the ball to aj maybe for
- 20:27Speaker 2: the right reasons, maybe not, but there were easier throws
- 20:31Speaker 2: to be made to other receivers who are barklay sometimes
- 20:35Speaker 2: coming out of the backfield, and the flat was there,
- 20:38Speaker 2: Goddard appeared, Goddard was open all night. I mean, you
- 20:42Speaker 2: could have gotten the ball to him almost any time
- 20:44Speaker 2: you wanted to, and you did. And that has been
- 20:50Speaker 2: a recurring problem with Jalen this year. Is and this
- 20:55Speaker 2: has led to some of the grumbling about him that
- 20:58Speaker 2: you were talking about within the organizations. What's he looking at?
- 21:02Speaker 2: You know, at this point in his career, he shouldn't
- 21:05Speaker 2: be doing that. I mean, he should be. He should
- 21:07Speaker 2: be seeing the field a lot more clearly than he
- 21:10Speaker 2: is right now. Now we know he's been he's capable
- 21:14Speaker 2: of it, We've seen him do it. And some of
- 21:17Speaker 2: it you put on him, but you also have to
- 21:21Speaker 2: put a lot of it on the coaches. I mean
- 21:23Speaker 2: you he shouldn't be this lost this point in the season.
- 21:27Speaker 2: He shouldn't. But and this opening the door to another
- 21:31Speaker 2: part of our conversation is I don't want to I
- 21:36Speaker 2: don't want to beat the play calling thing because I've
- 21:39Speaker 2: been beating it to death all year. But I thought
- 21:42Speaker 2: this was another case where I mean, this was one
- 21:45Speaker 2: game where it appeared it appeared that you you were
- 21:49Speaker 2: starting to get your running game on track a little bit.
- 21:52Speaker 2: I mean, I thought the Eagles ran the game, ran
- 21:54Speaker 2: the ball pretty good in this game, and there were
- 21:57Speaker 2: some stretches here where I thought Barkley ran the ball
- 21:59Speaker 2: quite well, not just the one fake push push play,
- 22:02Speaker 2: but other plays where the running games seem to be
- 22:05Speaker 2: getting some traction. How in the world you get that
- 22:09Speaker 2: far away from it in the fourth quarter of a
- 22:12Speaker 2: close game, on a night when your quarterback is having
- 22:16Speaker 2: a horrible game, when your quarterback is playing terrible, It's
- 22:20Speaker 2: a close game, still certainly winnable, starting to get a
- 22:25Speaker 2: little something going in the running game, and then from
- 22:29Speaker 2: the point where Barkley breaks off his touchdown run, he
- 22:32Speaker 2: only gets five more carries the rest of the game. Unbelievable.
- 22:35Speaker 2: I mean, how does that happen?
- 22:40Speaker 1: I RT better better men have tried to figure out
- 22:45Speaker 1: what this offense is, what it isn't, and everybody comes
- 22:49Speaker 1: up with inconclusive, you know, conclusions about about this offense.
- 22:54Speaker 1: I mean, I understand Lane Johnson is not there. Landon
- 23:00Speaker 1: Dickerson is in and out. He has beat up, you know,
- 23:03Speaker 1: to a pulp baby basically every game he's limping to
- 23:06Speaker 1: the sideline and tries to come back in Cam Jurgens
- 23:10Speaker 1: is not one hundred percent. But even with that said,
- 23:14Speaker 1: there have been plays after plays after plays that have
- 23:17Speaker 1: been there for the making, and they have missed on
- 23:20Speaker 1: these plays. And again it goes back to the quarterback,
- 23:24Speaker 1: and I don't want to see him ever again throwing
- 23:26Speaker 1: forty passes in a game. Now we understand why he
- 23:31Speaker 1: was reduced to basically twenty twenty two passes a game
- 23:34Speaker 1: when the Eagles hit that stretch run after their by
- 23:37Speaker 1: breaking twenty twenty four, when they just started just freight
- 23:41Speaker 1: training people in the running game, and earlier in this season,
- 23:44Speaker 1: they basically limited his his passing in a lot of ways.
- 23:50Speaker 1: But to see him throw the ball forty times and
- 23:52Speaker 1: we see the results that we see now, I understand
- 23:55Speaker 1: why they don't want him putting the ball up thirty
- 23:58Speaker 1: five forty times a game, and with a life of
- 24:00Speaker 1: me rate, he's still a young man. I don't understand
- 24:04Speaker 1: why he's not utilizing his legs more. Four carries for
- 24:07Speaker 1: eight yards. Two of those were designed runs, the other
- 24:10Speaker 1: two was scrambles. And you look at the other quarterback,
- 24:13Speaker 1: Justin Herbert, who's a bigger target at six', five you,
- 24:18Speaker 1: know two hundred and thirty something past playing with a,
- 24:20Speaker 1: oh by the, way a broken. Hand Now i'm throwing,
- 24:23Speaker 1: hand and he's running ten times for sixty six, yards
- 24:27Speaker 1: and his running helped define The chargers having, success limited,
- 24:33Speaker 1: success but enough success to get the job. DONE i
- 24:36Speaker 1: don't understand Why Jalen hurts is not utilizing his legs
- 24:40Speaker 1: more in the running game to offset some of the
- 24:44Speaker 1: pressure he's been getting from pass rushers in the passing.
- 24:47Speaker 2: Game, yeah a couple times over this. Stretch now when
- 24:53Speaker 2: he has run a designed, Run i'm not talking about
- 24:57Speaker 2: a scramble, run but a scripted. Run you've seen. It
- 25:01Speaker 2: it can be pretty, effective AND i think for him
- 25:05Speaker 2: to be as effective as he has been over, time
- 25:09Speaker 2: that has to be part of the. Game, again nobody
- 25:12Speaker 2: suggesting that he run it fifteen sixteen, times but certainly
- 25:17Speaker 2: more than he has this, year because it's an important
- 25:20Speaker 2: part of who he is and how he. Plays and
- 25:23Speaker 2: it was really you couldn't. Help you couldn't help look
- 25:29Speaker 2: at the difference between the two quarterbacks in this. Game
- 25:32Speaker 2: when you Have, hurtz who's a guy who has over
- 25:36Speaker 2: the course of the last four or five, years you,
- 25:39Speaker 2: know next To Lamar, jackson maybe been the best running
- 25:42Speaker 2: quarterback in the, league basically taking that out of his game,
- 25:47Speaker 2: entirely and playing in a game Against Justin, herbert a bigger.
- 25:52Speaker 2: Guy no one's idea of a scrambler playing with a broken,
- 25:56Speaker 2: hand making very big plays in the running game and
- 26:01Speaker 2: and having a great impact on the. GAME i mean
- 26:03Speaker 2: there were there were times that that they were that
- 26:07Speaker 2: they were running rpo, stuff uh and to great. EFFECT
- 26:12Speaker 2: i mean he would take he would fake a, hint
- 26:13Speaker 2: he would draw the, ball fake a hand, off take,
- 26:16Speaker 2: it and when The eagles would collapse on the, run
- 26:20Speaker 2: he would take it up the you know around the
- 26:23Speaker 2: end for first down, YARDAGE i, mean sixty six yards
- 26:27Speaker 2: is not is not. NOTHING i mean that and and
- 26:30Speaker 2: some big first downs in key. SPOTS i mean that's
- 26:33Speaker 2: the kind of stuff that you kneed your quarterback to.
- 26:35Speaker 2: Do And i'm sure The chargers nobody was anxious to
- 26:40Speaker 2: have him doing, that playing with one, hand but he
- 26:42Speaker 2: did it and helped you win the. GAME i mean
- 26:46Speaker 2: that's that's part of. It and it just it just
- 26:50Speaker 2: gets back to something that you've, Said i've, said we've
- 26:53Speaker 2: all said to the point of. Nauseum the only thing
- 26:57Speaker 2: you can say is this offense just appears broken in
- 27:00Speaker 2: in every. Respect the offensive line isn't is the offensive
- 27:03Speaker 2: line isn't doing what it did last. Year the offensive
- 27:06Speaker 2: line is having all kinds of problems because of. Injury,
- 27:08Speaker 2: mostly the running game has been largely non, existent. Ineffective
- 27:16Speaker 2: they're leading the league in three. ANNOUNCED i, mean that
- 27:18Speaker 2: speaks to exactly what the problem is all of these.
- 27:22Speaker 2: Things but the other, night there's no question where it
- 27:28Speaker 2: all really broke down was with the, quarterback because not
- 27:31Speaker 2: only was he having trouble completing, passes but for the
- 27:34Speaker 2: first time this, year he was killing you with. Turnovers and,
- 27:39Speaker 2: SO i, mean you look at, this you look at the,
- 27:41Speaker 2: standings you, say they're eight and, five they still are
- 27:44Speaker 2: leading their, division, YadA, YadA. YadA we've been saying that every.
- 27:48Speaker 2: Week but the reality is you watch the game and
- 27:51Speaker 2: you look at the tape and you just see this
- 27:54Speaker 2: is a team that IS i think when to go
- 27:58Speaker 2: to the playoffs yet probably do they really have a
- 28:01Speaker 2: realistic chance to do anything once they get. THERE i
- 28:04Speaker 2: hate to say, it but right now the way they're
- 28:06Speaker 2: playing probably. Not, hey It's Jeff.
- 28:09Speaker 3: Mosher and if you have a family and kids at,
- 28:11Speaker 3: home like, me you always want them to be fully.

- 29:27Speaker 1: Safe you know you mentioned it a while ago about
- 29:32Speaker 1: the public cry now to maybe Play tanner, McKee but
- 29:37Speaker 1: what type of message would you be sending to the
- 29:39Speaker 1: rest of the guys on this team who are fighting
- 29:42Speaker 1: tooth and. Nail the defense is fighting tooth and, nail
- 29:45Speaker 1: the offense is fighting tooth and. Nail but continue to
- 29:47Speaker 1: make the boneheaded, plays the off size, penalties the holding,
- 29:51Speaker 1: penalties so on and so. Forth you're still in the
- 29:53Speaker 1: driver's seat in your, division although by, losing you've Allowed
- 29:58Speaker 1: dallas to close the gap even though lost their last.
- 30:01Speaker 1: Game you, know what kind of, decision what kind of
- 30:05Speaker 1: decision is that to even consider putting in tanamckey at
- 30:10Speaker 1: this point of a, season because to, me if you did,
- 30:12Speaker 1: that basically you're telling your team that we're giving up
- 30:15Speaker 1: on this. Season you, know some people, say, well you know,
- 30:18Speaker 1: what maybe it will spark. Them do you want to
- 30:21Speaker 1: take that? Chance because of it backfires on you and
- 30:23Speaker 1: you lose another game And dallas wins another. Game all
- 30:27Speaker 1: of a, sudden you're sweating profusely now because The cowboys
- 30:30Speaker 1: are sitting on your shoulder now instead of being in
- 30:33Speaker 1: a rearview. MIRROR i, MEAN i understand people's, frustrations but
- 30:37Speaker 1: that's not a logical. Choice and how do you justify
- 30:40Speaker 1: sitting a fifty million dollars a year franchise quarterback at
- 30:44Speaker 1: the most crucial point of a, season even though things
- 30:46Speaker 1: are going bad for.
- 30:47Speaker 2: Him, yeah you. Can't you. CAN'T i, mean that's, just you,
- 30:52Speaker 2: know that's JUST i, mean it's great fodder for talk, radio,
- 30:55Speaker 2: sure but it makes no sense that you would bench
- 31:00Speaker 2: your starting, quarterback your veteran, quarterback the guy who was
- 31:04Speaker 2: THE mvp in The Super bowl In. February they're going
- 31:07Speaker 2: to sit him for a quarterback who's totally. Unproven, now,
- 31:11Speaker 2: Look I'm i'm NOT i don't want to make this
- 31:14Speaker 2: sound LIKE i don't think That Taylor tanner McKee has
- 31:17Speaker 2: a chance to ever be a player in THE. Nfl
- 31:19Speaker 2: maybe he. Does, Uh and to his, credit every time
- 31:23Speaker 2: he's had a chance to, play he's played. WELL i
- 31:26Speaker 2: mean to the point where you're you're comfortable with him
- 31:30Speaker 2: as you're number. Two you think he has a long range. Future,
- 31:33Speaker 2: yeah maybe he, Does but this isn't the time of the,
- 31:36Speaker 2: place you, KNOW i, mean for better or, worse you
- 31:40Speaker 2: got you have the wagon. Strap the jalen hurts right. Now,
- 31:44Speaker 2: uh and you just got to find a way and
- 31:47Speaker 2: he's got to find a way to play better. Now you,
- 31:51Speaker 2: know this week you got the The Vegas raiders coming
- 31:55Speaker 2: in here and they they are just a wreck of
- 32:00Speaker 2: a football team right. Now and there's a part of
- 32:05Speaker 2: me that, says there's no way that The eagles can
- 32:09Speaker 2: lose at home to this. Team, however AND i know
- 32:15Speaker 2: you're thinking What i'm. Thinking if you want to just
- 32:19Speaker 2: go back to the twenty twenty three the comparison everybody
- 32:22Speaker 2: has been making two years ago when this team completely
- 32:26Speaker 2: collapsed down the stretch that we had a game right
- 32:30Speaker 2: about this time when The Arizona Cardinals Jonathan gannon came
- 32:36Speaker 2: into the link and their record was almost about the
- 32:38Speaker 2: same as what The raiders is, now and they came
- 32:41Speaker 2: in and they beat The eagles in the middle of.
- 32:44Speaker 2: That so don't tell me it can't. Happen it. Can't
- 32:48Speaker 2: but you gotta go the distance With hurtz at this,
- 32:54Speaker 2: point you really have no, choice and you just got
- 32:57Speaker 2: to find a way to get him through through. This
- 33:00Speaker 2: and it's it's largely on him because he knows he
- 33:04Speaker 2: has to play, better but it's also on that offensive
- 33:07Speaker 2: coaching staff to try and work him through what he's
- 33:10Speaker 2: going through right, now because he looks like a guy who's,
- 33:13Speaker 2: lost and you have four more weeks to try and
- 33:16Speaker 2: help him find his way out of.
- 33:18Speaker 1: It you, know are ready to be honest with. You
- 33:21Speaker 1: leading up to this, game we find out That Nick
- 33:24Speaker 1: sirianni is being more involved in the offensive.
- 33:27Speaker 2: Meetings you.
- 33:28Speaker 1: Know, saquon who never says anything, negatively openly admitted that
- 33:34Speaker 1: the energy on the sidelines for weeks has been. Awful
- 33:39Speaker 1: and then there's a positivity inflatable bunny in the locker,
- 33:43Speaker 1: room a little bit, humorous BUT i think it's ill
- 33:45Speaker 1: timed to have that in the locker. Room BUT i
- 33:48Speaker 1: thought with all of, that the architect of this, offense
- 33:53Speaker 1: the franchise running, back who usually sings the praises of
- 33:58Speaker 1: everybody even in verse, times comes out and admits that
- 34:03Speaker 1: we have not been up to expectation for weeks in
- 34:07Speaker 1: terms of energy and matching opponents. ENERGY i thought they
- 34:11Speaker 1: would come out like gangbusters against This chargers, defense and
- 34:16Speaker 1: they still find themselves on the short side of the.
- 34:19Speaker 1: Ledger so at this, point even though again they're eight and,
- 34:23Speaker 1: five they're in control of their. Division but what has
- 34:27Speaker 1: to be the mindset in this locker room right now
- 34:31Speaker 1: in terms of what this team is going through. It
- 34:35Speaker 1: it can't be good right. Now it just can't be good.
- 34:37Speaker 2: Now, no, No AND i thought that it was when
- 34:46Speaker 2: you're right in the way you Characterize. Barkley barkley is
- 34:50Speaker 2: a guy who is always the glasses half. FULL i,
- 34:55Speaker 2: mean he's always a guy that thinks and speaks on
- 34:58Speaker 2: the positive, side you. KNOW i mean last week after
- 35:03Speaker 2: the the bad loss To, chicago you, know he, SAID i,
- 35:07Speaker 2: know his his quote, WAS i know outside people are
- 35:09Speaker 2: going to say the sky is, falling but not in.
- 35:13Speaker 1: Here you.
- 35:13Speaker 2: Know it was sort of Like saquon is always the
- 35:16Speaker 2: guy who's who's looking on the on the brighter side
- 35:20Speaker 2: of whatever the situation. IS i, mean that's part of
- 35:23Speaker 2: the reason why the people up In New york loved
- 35:25Speaker 2: him when he was at The. GIANTS i, mean he
- 35:26Speaker 2: went through all these horrible seasons with The giants and
- 35:29Speaker 2: it was always, like, now you, know we got good players,
- 35:32Speaker 2: Here we'll get this. Together when he made the statement
- 35:35Speaker 2: that the energy on our sidelines has been, awful and
- 35:40Speaker 2: that was the word he, used. Awful that WHEN i
- 35:45Speaker 2: saw WHEN i saw that, story it really made my
- 35:47Speaker 2: eyebrows go up because that is such a departure from
- 35:51Speaker 2: the way he normally. Speaks and if he's saying, that
- 35:55Speaker 2: THEN i know it's. Real. Uh and if he's saying,
- 35:59Speaker 2: that THEN i know it's an. Issue AND i can
- 36:02Speaker 2: kind of understand, it at least from the offensive, side
- 36:06Speaker 2: BECAUSE i can understand the frustration those guys are going.
- 36:08Speaker 2: Through on the other, side with the exception of The chicago,
- 36:11Speaker 2: game on the other, side the defense has been playing really,
- 36:17Speaker 2: tough really hard, hitting you, know really all totally all in.
- 36:23Speaker 2: Football on the defensive, stord those, GUYS i don't. THINK
- 36:26Speaker 2: i don't think there's an energy problem. There but on
- 36:30Speaker 2: the offensive, SIDE i don't know if it's a matter
- 36:33Speaker 2: of energy as much as it is just a lack of.
- 36:36Speaker 2: Confidence right. Now they just Don't they just don't think
- 36:42Speaker 2: that they're going To they don't think that they're good
- 36:44Speaker 2: enough to take the ball and drive it down the
- 36:47Speaker 2: field in a big spot and win a. GAME i,
- 36:49Speaker 2: mean it's almost the complete opposite of what they were
- 36:51Speaker 2: a year. Ago but that's kind of where we.
- 36:53Speaker 1: Are would you agree That Jordan malatta has had an
- 36:57Speaker 1: incredibly terrible season across the. BOARD i, mean he had
- 37:02Speaker 1: the holding penalty which negated the touchdown to aj he's
- 37:07Speaker 1: gotten away with my, GOODNESS i don't know how many
- 37:09Speaker 1: holding penalties that haven't.
- 37:10Speaker 2: Been called on.
- 37:11Speaker 1: Him a, lot you, know but he has not been
- 37:16Speaker 1: anything close to what he was in twenty twenty. FOUR
- 37:20Speaker 1: i don't. KNOW i, mean you, know he does his weekly,
- 37:23Speaker 1: show he says all the right things about you, know
- 37:27Speaker 1: we've lacked focused in, execution and he's one of the
- 37:31Speaker 1: primary culprits for this offense being as inconsistent as it has.
- 37:36Speaker 2: Been, YEAH i mean last Year Pro Football, FOCUS i
- 37:47Speaker 2: think it Was Pro Football. Focus, yeah it was graded
- 37:51Speaker 2: him as graded him out as the best offensive as
- 37:57Speaker 2: the best left tackle in all of. FOOTBALL i, mean
- 38:01Speaker 2: he had like a season grade of something like ninety
- 38:05Speaker 2: seven or. SOMETHING i mean it was like off the
- 38:08Speaker 2: charts his performance last. Year And Lane johnson on the other,
- 38:13Speaker 2: side was the best at his. Position that's. Back that's
- 38:17Speaker 2: point does that seemed like a long time, Ago but back,
- 38:20Speaker 2: then that was when The eagles offensive line was dominating
- 38:24Speaker 2: the league and leading this team to The Super. Bowl
- 38:27Speaker 2: they're not even close to that. Now In lane's, case
- 38:30Speaker 2: it's been a matter of injury and physically just breaking
- 38:34Speaker 2: down and the fact that he's been out with, injuries
- 38:38Speaker 2: and even when he was, playing was playing clearly less
- 38:40Speaker 2: than a hundred. Percent we haven't heard anything about injuries
- 38:44Speaker 2: Of Jordan, malatta but his play has really, suffered AND
- 38:48Speaker 2: i think that part of, IT i think is just
- 38:54Speaker 2: he's Had dickerson to his, right And dickerson has really
- 38:58Speaker 2: struggled all year of the, injuries the, knee the, ankle the.
- 39:03Speaker 2: OBLIQUE i mean he's Had he's had three or four
- 39:07Speaker 2: really serious injuries that have had him in and on
- 39:10Speaker 2: and off the. Field and to be perfectly, frank probably
- 39:15Speaker 2: a lot of guys wouldn't even be trying trying to
- 39:17Speaker 2: play with, them but he. Is but it's clearly affected his,
- 39:20Speaker 2: play AND i think his struggles and the plays that
- 39:25Speaker 2: he can't make are affecting my. Lotta on the other,
- 39:28Speaker 2: SIDE i think that there's been that the struggles that
- 39:33Speaker 2: are happening over here are are are giving my lot
- 39:38Speaker 2: of problems because he's way off his game. Too there's
- 39:41Speaker 2: there's no question about. THAT i mean last, year you
- 39:45Speaker 2: go back and you look at that series of sixty
- 39:48Speaker 2: yard plus touchdown runs That barkley had last, year which
- 39:53Speaker 2: was more than any running back in the history of
- 39:55Speaker 2: football had sixty yard touchdown runs in one, season even
- 39:58Speaker 2: more than Like Jim. Brown and look how many of
- 40:02Speaker 2: those were off the left. Side most of them were
- 40:05Speaker 2: because that's just how Dominant dickerson and My lota were
- 40:09Speaker 2: as a pairing over. There and it hasn't been anything
- 40:12Speaker 2: like that this. Year So, DICKERSON i think it's been
- 40:16Speaker 2: an injury thing and my lot of perhaps because of
- 40:19Speaker 2: What dickerson's going, through it's affected his game as. Well
- 40:23Speaker 2: but he's way off where he was last. Year but
- 40:26Speaker 2: that's you're talking about the whole offensive line from what
- 40:30Speaker 2: we had last year and what helped you win A Super.
- 40:32Speaker 4: BOWL i, mean you're not even close to that this. Year,
- 40:36Speaker 4: well four games left to. Play the schedule favors them
- 40:43Speaker 4: in terms of.
- 40:44Speaker 1: Competition they play The, raiders coming up the worst team
- 40:49Speaker 1: in The National Football. League they still have two games Against,
- 40:52Speaker 1: washington but you don't discount those because those are division.
- 40:55Speaker 1: Games and of Course washington Took denver a few weeks
- 40:59Speaker 1: to go to overtime and should have Upset denver If
- 41:02Speaker 1: Marcus mariota's passed has just been a little bit, higher
- 41:05Speaker 1: and why running back wide opening the flats on a
- 41:07Speaker 1: two point conversion would have up At denver didn't happen for.
- 41:10Speaker 1: Him but you got a tough one as well coming
- 41:12Speaker 1: up At, Buffalo, uh down the road as.
- 41:15Speaker 2: Well it's a.
- 41:16Speaker 1: Very, minimum very minimum for an offense that can barely
- 41:20Speaker 1: score one testdown a. Game they should come away three
- 41:24Speaker 1: and one and and end up with eleven wins this.
- 41:27Speaker 1: Season But i'm not so sure it's gonna. Happen to be,
- 41:32Speaker 1: Honest i'm. NOT i have no confidence in this this team.
- 41:36Speaker 1: Whatsoever after What i've seen over the last three. WEEKS
- 41:40Speaker 1: i don't know what to expect from this. TEAM i
- 41:42Speaker 1: don't want to hear any more chatter in the locker
- 41:44Speaker 1: room about focus and. EXECUTION i don't want to hear
- 41:48Speaker 1: anything more about we're gonna stick.
- 41:50Speaker 2: Together.
- 41:51Speaker 1: Uh you, know nothing's going to divide us in this locker.
- 41:54Speaker 1: Room the the only way you have to show, me
- 41:59Speaker 1: and there's there's no excuse unless there's a significant amount of,
- 42:03Speaker 1: injuries not just the one, player but a significant amount
- 42:07Speaker 1: of injuries that could thwart you winning a minimum three
- 42:12Speaker 1: of these last four. GAMES i can't accept anything that
- 42:16Speaker 1: they say from the locker room or the podium for
- 42:19Speaker 1: the rest of this.
- 42:19Speaker 2: Season, Hey philly.

- 43:16Speaker 3: and an experience made For philly fans twenty one and.
- 43:19Speaker 2: Up it's. TRUE i, mean for everything that we've said here,
- 43:23Speaker 2: tonight it's all. TRUE i mean that's the reality of
- 43:29Speaker 2: who they are and where they are and how they
- 43:31Speaker 2: got here and it's the last three weeks have been really.
- 43:35Speaker 2: Discouraging but the one thing That Nick sirianni has said
- 43:40Speaker 2: and the players have sort of echoed, it and this is.
- 43:43Speaker 2: TRUE i mean everything, that everything that they set out
- 43:46Speaker 2: to accomplish this year is still. Achievable you, know they're
- 43:50Speaker 2: not five and, eight they're eight and five and they're
- 43:54Speaker 2: going to go to the. PLAYOFFS i firmly believe. THAT
- 43:57Speaker 2: i agree with. YOU i THINK i look at these
- 43:59Speaker 2: last four they should absolutely be three and. One you,
- 44:02Speaker 2: know The buffalo, game it's gonna be a tough game
- 44:05Speaker 2: Because buffalo is going to need. IT i, mean so
- 44:08Speaker 2: that's gonna be a tough. Game but there's no reason
- 44:09Speaker 2: why they shouldn't beat The raiders In washington. Twice there's
- 44:12Speaker 2: no reason for. That, so, okay you got eleven wins
- 44:15Speaker 2: and you go into the. Postseason and now you're into the,
- 44:18Speaker 2: postseason that's going to be wide. Open we know. That
- 44:21Speaker 2: now we've seen all of these, teams and there's no perfect.
- 44:25Speaker 2: Team there's no great. Team it's just a bunch of.
- 44:27Speaker 2: Teams that's going to be a question of who's going
- 44:28Speaker 2: to get hot at the right. Time, now three straight.
- 44:32Speaker 2: Losses clearly ain't, hot but there's nothing to say that
- 44:36Speaker 2: when you get in there that you can't you can't
- 44:39Speaker 2: start to play. Better it's, achievable but it really. Comes
- 44:43Speaker 2: it's up to. Them it's really up to, them and
- 44:46Speaker 2: you know they they shouldn't have any problems with The.
- 44:50Speaker 2: RAIDERS i, mean The raiders are that. Bad but the
- 44:54Speaker 2: way this team's. Playing you said it last, WEEK i
- 44:57Speaker 2: mean you SAID i don't trust this. TEAM i. DON'T
- 45:00Speaker 2: i don't know how you. COULD i don't know how
- 45:02Speaker 2: you could at this. Point but the fact is they
- 45:05Speaker 2: still have that opportunity and it's up to them to
- 45:08Speaker 2: try and take advantage.
- 45:09Speaker 1: Of, well keep your fingers. Crossed the race to the
- 45:13Speaker 1: finish line is indeed going to be interesting for this.
- 45:17Speaker 3: Team, HEY i still like a good night, out But
