- speaker-1: back as a team. I was on that solo mission and it was a little scary. All right. speaker-0: Talking about it is tough, man. but I appreciate it, man. I was down for the count. speaker-1: Sometimes you just gotta, you know, you gotta sleep it out, man. Honestly, once this weather changes like that, it gets a little crazy. So I totally understand. speaker-0: kids though it's just like speaker-1: Brothers four. speaker-0: man, it was a awesome. Like it was awesome in terms of just being able to just I had no responsibility except sleep. Yeah. Sleep, eat some broth and we're good. speaker-1: Shout out to Brianna for being the queen there. That was big, big time. Big time. speaker-0: Big time needed it. Hey, NBA season opener. Game started at three PM today. speaker-1: you were hyped. Yeah, you're all over it dude. I I I don't know. The NBA's like got an on me lately. I don't know. speaker-0: you got you dude, it is it is so good right now. It's it's it's at it's really at its peak almost. speaker-1: I think talent talent wise, it's crazy, right? I think talent wise it's just at a different level kind of thing. but I don't know, the lack of defense is really just frustrating, to be honest. speaker-0: I'm wa watching some the beginning of this Knicks game and it was interesting. They're not they're not calling those bad fouls so far very early, but there was a couple fouls that like cat always gets in foul trouble, but that they didn't call where they got like they're like and then there was just like other ones where someone would they acted like they got really pushed and they didn't call it on superstars. I was like, Okay, I like this. Yeah. speaker-1: Finally. Yeah. Yeah, they gotta figure it out. it's just a product, you know what I mean? speaker-0: Yeah. Speaking of a superstar, we got Chris Coin in the building. The hawk will never die. Look at him speaker-2: You like that? speaker-0: uniform. Come on. speaker-2: pressured into the the nineteen seventies Hawk dunking a basketball logo. It's back. we pressured Steve Donahue. And did you guys see he just got a five year extension? No. As of today. Yeah. speaker-1: There you go. How do you feel? speaker-2: I like but are we giving out five years right now? I mean five years speaker-1: A lot. speaker-2: for speaker-0: You know what he did for me, he did more than the other guy right before. speaker-2: Yeah. speaker-0: mean No speaker-1: No, no, no. speaker-0: no shade against Billy, but or maybe you could he tailed off of him. It was just more like I felt like there was a level of I don't know, maybe more experience and more structure. I I loved the way they played last year. They they outplayed what their expectations were. speaker-2: So Billy was the ultimate recruiter. Think about all the guys that came in the door the last couple of years and where they've transferred to. X, Xavier Brown at Oklahoma. You had Eric Reynolds, all time leading scorer. you had dude Fleming playing with the Phoenix Suns last year. Dudes coming in the door, but he couldn't coach pro lick. But he just won a championship with the Knicks. So we'll not say anything. speaker-0: Get get it get it another way. Yeah, he he needed to be he needed someone else to do like the X and O's. speaker-1: He's better. speaker-2: Now it's Daniel. Yeah. speaker-1: There it is. 'Cause he he was at the Sixers before that, right? speaker-2: He was big player development guy. yeah, he worked pretty much with Embiid, Simmons. I don't know if Simmons is really a good case study, but yeah, he was he was the guy for the Sixers. speaker-0: Dude, give some background to people because not everyone knows that y you're a product of SJU basketball. speaker-2: I am. It it it it took some time, just like it took some time getting on here. I I came to St. Joe's just thinking like, all right, I got a scholarship for academics. I'm gonna come for a year, just figure out what I want to do. I wanted to really hoop like D two, D three level, and then just fell in love with the school and didn't make the team my first year, didn't make the team my second year. And now I'm like, well, what am I doing here? But the J V program was really, really good at at St. Joe's. Shout out Rich Bolds. He was a big reason why I stayed. We had a really good team there on the JV level. And Martelli used it. He used it as like a recruiting tool where he would bring the prep schools from the Northeast, local areas, to come play us. So he wouldn't have to travel. We'd play them. We started beating them. and so that got kind of a few of us exposure. Colin Kelly on the team, Taylor Trevizin. and so yeah, after my sophomore year, he's he asked me to start practicing with the team. and then ended up making a junior senior year. and we we had some good squads back then. I know you had Langston on the pod, so I guess I'm the second most famous St. Joe's basketball front player on the speaker-1: I love it. Yeah. And for those who don't know, man, we used to play in the open gyms. We had some battles over there and then coin just took it to another level and that that third year you were just like, Okay, we're we're gonna we're gonna put the distance between all the regulars that go to the gym and then and yourself who walked on. speaker-2: The Maguire tomb I could name we could name for days Sam. Remember Sam? I ran into Sam recently in Brooklyn and he's playing. Did you? He's speaker-0: Nice. speaker-2: still so good, yeah. speaker-1: He used his body so well. He was tiny, but he was so fast, shifty. And once he got in the paint, it was just like you would think you could block a guy like that, but no, he just used his body so well. speaker-2: One more name I'll throw out there and not to bore the people. Sean Stokes. my God. That's so funny you were about to say that. Ran into him randomly in the city about a year ago. speaker-0: Dude, Stoke Stokes to me was like he was the only one that I I didn't like really fear people on the court at all. And not that I feared him, but it just I couldn't really guard him. it was just he was the one person that he was like he was just too strong, too fast, too consistent. speaker-2: And he wouldn't smile either, so he was a bit of a killer on the court. You were like Yeah. speaker-0: Whenever he's on my team I was very happy. But otherwise yeah, I felt I've it was such such good runs. I that was some best basketball years for sure. We're here for speaker-1: Dude, I won't wait for. speaker-0: football. speaker-2: You're right. speaker-0: Let's go. I I actually don't know w what your what your team is, Coin. speaker-2: Funny enough, I I really don't have a team. I'm just a bandwagon jumper. I will actually say the Eagles, because I started dating my wife in twenty seventeen and that's when they started to make that that first Super Bowl run. So I just leaned into it. I wasn't part of the f wanted to be part of the family and now it's now it's my brand. So I'm speaker-0: Exactly. speaker-2: not I'm not a go birds in the airport type of guy, but I'll speaker-1: I was gonna say. Okay. speaker-0: Yeah. speaker-2: and I just saw a text for a second. I just saw a text pop up from her. We started dating in twenty fifteen. So she's listening from the other room, clearly. speaker-1: I love it. I love it. okay. So you don't have a team. Hey, you know what? Adopting any Philly teams is fair. I feel like obviously going to St. Joe's, that's that's an easy plug, you know, and for football or for for college sports in general, I feel like I didn't have too much. And obviously we didn't have a football team, so that's that's a little you know, a little tough there. We didn't really follow college football though, Pete. You and I never. Do you have a college football team, Chris? speaker-2: I do not. and just a side note, and I know we'll talk about the circus stuff, but they put me in this Friday invitational contest with the top 25 handicappers in the country. And the idea is you can pick any college games you want totals. You can pick any NFL games. It's seven of them. and I started dabbling with college and I'm like, I just I I just don't know anything there. and those have been my worst games. So I am done picking college, which is pure NFL from here on out. speaker-1: Dude, NFL. college is too hard. It's just so many games. You know what I mean? So many teams. It's really hard to follow. But I was watching a documentary and if you think about it from a books perspective, there's only so many games that you can do for for football. They probably got it. making lines like over under is just normal spreads. If you think about it for college, there's just so many games. It's almost impossible to do it at that level. So you're gonna find more of a, more of a a a spread or or something that you would be able to to capitalize on. So it makes a lot of sense to me. speaker-0: As a handicapper you almost like you want you want to try to find, Hey, am I am I good at this other sport? Can I can I use the same system here? And that's probably what you were trying to do, just try to taste it and and it obviously that's not your not your favorite food. speaker-2: got it handed to me Saturday night trying to bet against the Mormons in in Provo, taking Notre Dame. I was like, everyone and their mother is gonna be on BYU home dog, ten and half points. And then they go and go ahead and win outright. speaker-1: Wild game. CJ Carr is their quarterback, right? speaker-2: One second left on the clock is all I'll say. speaker-1: I agree. Well, speaker-0: Yeah. speaker-1: I mean, I feel like he brought it up and we just gotta address the elephant in the room. There's zero way we're going into these questions without understanding what you what you plugged into the crowd right there. Can you just give us the background? I'm not gonna even give a hint. I just wanna hear the story, how you even got into the circle millions pool and just give me the give me the full gist there. speaker-2: I have the jacket right here. I'll put I'll I'll put it I was gonna put it on, but I wanted to let the thing go. speaker-0: Yeah, you should just do a wardrobe change at some point. speaker-2: Yeah, we'll see how the show is going if we need to spice it up. so circa millions, for those who don't know, it is one of the largest sanctioned gambling contests in the country, thousand dollars an entry, about five, six thousand people on average each year do it. You got to fly to Vegas, put your picks in, or you know, fly to Vegas, sign up, and then you have to use a proxy who is just a guy that you have to trust that is going to put your picks in because of Vegas law rules and regulations on that front. so I actually never have gone to sign up. My boy Brian Hopkins, part of CoinHop. he's been signing us up in year one. We did it together. We did one entry, and then he went out there and we did our separate entries and it's just been separate entries since, but we kept the name. and you gotta pick five games against the spread every week for the full eighteen weeks. And the lines lock on Thursday morning. speaker-1: Any any game, it has to be NFL or is it NFL speaker-2: NFL. NFL only. speaker-1: only, okay. speaker-2: Yeah. So the the lines lock Thursday morning, 10 a.m. And then you can pick the Thursday night game. I had never done that. and then you every pick has to be in by Saturday afternoon to so lines could lock on Thursday. You get a lot of movement between Thursday and Saturday to pick your games. So anyway, speaker-1: Totally. speaker-2: I've done it for five or six years. at that point it's like, you know, you finish in a thousandth place, you're still like, all right, I'm top twenty-five percent of the gamers in the country. I think the first year actually I was I was thirty second in it. So that was that was cool. We paid out like nine grand, which was awesome. But speaker-1: Okay, so they do pay all the way down. That that makes sense. speaker-2: Top 10, number 10 gets a hundred grand and then it starts to really trickle off there. But top 100 get paid. and yeah, last year I in second place starting in like around this time. And it's like, okay, this is fun. I'm starting to tell my friends about it. Look at this coin hop, I'm number two in this contest. Yeah. And then I just kept it going. And I was like, how am I gonna fuck? How am I gonna screw this up? And I kept either first or second from this point through week eighteen last year. Yeah. It was me and this one guy, Potato Commish, Potato Commish on Twitter, great follow. he did you ever met We speaker-1: Potato Kimish? speaker-2: we finally met at the big check ceremony out there. Did you? Yeah. and yeah, we've just moved we text every weekend now. He's great. but I I I'll just cut to the chase. I I won the contest on a tiebreaker. I went to bed that night thinking I chopped, so it was five hundred for second place, a million for first. I thought I chopped one point five. So seven fifty. I'm like, I'm not mad about that, but I don't know if it comes with a blue blazer. I don't know any of this. I probably should have studied the rules and regulations before going into week eighteen, how to hedge, different things. No hedge, no nothing. I'm like, all right. speaker-1: Hedge? Wait, wait, time out, time out. hedge? Dude. Dude. speaker-0: My god. speaker-2: We're gonna speaker-1: Yeah. speaker-2: It went to the Sunday night game too. It was Raven Steelers and it was like, okay, Chris, you could h hedge a hundred grand here and like kind of middle it. And I just said, no, it's gonna be it's either gonna be first or it's So went to bed Yeah, speaker-0: My brain had a. speaker-1: So speaker-2: first or second. I go to bed thinking it's a tie. I wake up that next morning, five AM and I tweeted it out today calling the the slow scroll. You ever do that where you place a bet and you fall asleep? speaker-1: I saw the video. speaker-2: When are you like and just open up and I'm just starting to see the text flow in. And it's like at around midnight, they declared that I was the the winner of the tiebreaker. and speaker-0: So how do they do the tiebreaker? speaker-2: it was least amount of or most winning weeks. So out of 18 weeks, I had only three losing weeks. And the crazy part is two of those losing weeks came in the last three. So it was sort of like I started to get into my own head at the end. I'm like, listening to everything. I'm taking in all these podcasts. I'm listening to Fourth and Benea. And I'm like, wait, this is too much information. And now now I'm I'm like second guessing myself. And that's where it kind of fell flat. But it all worked out. Went out there a week later, brought eight of my boys, a couple of St. Joe's guys on there, CJ McNamara, Chris Florio, Bendon Duffy. and we just we went out there for the big check, tore it up for 36 hours and came back to our our families. speaker-1: Holy shit, dude. This is like every every better's dream, honestly, that you were able to do this and pull it off, especially in that fashion. That's incredible. Number one, congratulations. And you st are you still on like like a high? Like off of that? I mean, you I don't know how you can get off that high. speaker-2: I I I gotta say, so I didn't have a Twitter last year at this point. I mean, I was on there, but just as a lurker, spectator, just gathering information. And I just really wanted to create one throughout the season. Everyone's like, who is CoinHop? So I kept this kept this anonymity. and after I went out there, I won. I'm talking to the CEO of the casino, different betters, they're like, hey, create one. It's good for the circa contest, it's good for your brand. It's just fun, like you can engage with people on there. So I did. And the first couple of days, I got 500 followers. I'm like, this is cool. and then since the NFL had that lull, I'm like, okay, you know, this this isn't realistic, it'll never happen again. And I just started back up with it. I'm tweeting out, interacting with people, and I'm now hitting it 70% right now. So I'm gaining all these followers, I'm having some fun with it, like meeting all these people on there, doing some other interviews on V Sin. So it's like, The the high is back. it was the summer lull. It's like that'll never happen. And it probably won't happen again. But like I'm starting to believe. Let's do it. Let's manifest this. speaker-0: Has there been any any conversations where you're like, I'm gonna do this full time? this is or is it like, all right, I I'm gonna keep it at bay, got my day job and then I'm gonna do like my handicapping on the side for like fun. speaker-2: You guys know this. We got I got two little kids. I got a three and a one year old, living in New York City. This is speaker-0: God. speaker-2: I d I don't think we could we could just drop all that. speaker-0: Drop it all off. Yeah. I hear you. I it's the it's the dream though. speaker-2: This year if if we do it again this year, we'll we'll we'll consider. Yeah. We'll have to move to a lower tax state, maybe. speaker-1: Yeah. I was gonna say. I was gonna say. Well, look, you're you said you're what, you're week we're in week six now. we just ended week six, so what and you said you're doing pretty well, you said seventy percent. So I assume like how does the points work from the picks? Is it just literally like you've gotten the most right and and it's a ranking, or is it like how how does that work? Yeah. speaker-2: Yeah, yeah, it's it's cumulative, but they do quarterly pay quarterly payouts too. And the quarterly payouts are hefty. They're like 150 grand for do that. But so yeah, one point for for each n and then half a point for a push. So this week the jets were plus seven versus the Pets. I took the Jets, bang me over the head, I'll do it again. and they, you know, I got the half a point there. So I was four and one, so I got four and a half points this week. In that contest. speaker-1: Well you heard it here. speaker-2: think you I think C B S Sports in La Familia had the jets at seven and a half, so I think I I cleared that hurdle. speaker-0: Yes, we did. They always speaker-1: Yeah. speaker-0: they only do half points so that way you don't push. speaker-2: Okay, good. speaker-1: Yeah. There you go. Well look, you heard it here first. That's amazing. Yeah. Well go ahead, we're gonna say speaker-2: I was gonna I was gonna jump ahead to give my advice on the squad bet, but let's wait for that at some point. speaker-1: Let's wait for that. Let's wait for I know you you got something cooking. Pete, start us off here. What do you what do you got for for Chris? Yeah. speaker-0: wanna hear the story. How what how do you typically make your picks? i I don't I I know I know you don't want to give away your secret sauce, but how do you make your picks typically on a weekly basis for fourth and vanilla and and just in general, I guess. For La Familia, pick speaker-2: Yeah. so I've I've never put on the pads. I've never been on a football field. I've never played fantasy football where I know the players' names, like to the extent that, you know, a lot of people do. I don't know schemes. You tell me a nickel defense, non defense, I don't know that stuff. and I'm not willing to go out and learn it right now. But I feel like years of of betting and like kind of picking up on patterns and pattern recognition. And then also like taking some of my, you know. day job of working around the stock market and following certain trends, that stuff is all the same. And I just view the NFL betting market in that lens of like, this is just another market. This has nothing to do with players. everything is priced in. So and so will be like, hey man, did you know that, the the left tackle's out or this receiver's out. And I'm like, I I don't know that name and I don't really care because that's all priced into that. Yeah. To some extent. So it's it's it's all priced in. So The first thing I'll do is, you after Monday night football, you look at the lines. So this morning I'm looking at the lines for next week and I'll just sit with a notebook at work and I'll just sketch out my, you know, sometimes it's 10 picks, sometimes it's seven, sometimes it's only three. And it's like, how are we gonna get to five here? so it's nice to that you guys make it all all 16 games. So you don't have to make those decisions. But total. so what I look for initially is what are going to be the big public bet. I know this sounds obvious. What are gonna be the big public bets of the week? And and fading the public is strategy number one for me. And that has if you look at the last 12 primetime games, outside of our Sunday night Cowboys Packers games, public has gotten crushed. but you gotta give the you gotta give the public a crumb here and there. So like it doesn't always always work. But that's that's starting point number one is is looking at what the and there's different websites and a lot of these websites share what's the ticket count? How many people are on this game percentage wise? Where's the money at? So that's where you find yeah speaker-1: Yep. speaker-2: that that seems very obvious. But then so you can't you get that list. And then I'll take it a step further and I'll look at I I've mentioned this on a podcast before. It's it's the NFL luck rankings. And that is very telling. That takes into account like who was actually who won the success rates, who won the efficiency versus their opponent in the last game, but may have had an unfortunate fumble or two, or some weird things have happened in the game where it has turned against them. So I'll look to see who those unlucky teams are, because they're probably due at some point. So I take those metrics into account, who actually beat their opponent on a success and efficiency rating the last week and what and that's, you know, they're they're that's not going to be baked in really to the line in the following week. They're just going to say, so and so lost by Two touchdowns. Well, they actually outgained yard per play. Like stuff stuff like that. And it's not always gonna work out, but you got to take in so there's some analytical measure, and then there's also just the pure Vegas is gonna make money somehow in the spade in the public. speaker-0: Do you immediately start a a g like a game or do you flick kinda gut check yourself like man, I love this game too much. I need to step away from that one and it's not the one I'm picking. speaker-2: so I think Carolina last week, when that's those lines came out on Tuesday, I looked at that and I'm like, man, the Eagles just came off a big, you know, prime time game. It was Saturday Sunday morning, but it was prime time. So everyone was watching it. Eagles played really well. They're like, okay, maybe all these injuries that the Eagles have, they're beyond that. And they're due. They're going home. and then It had been a while. It had been about 10 days since the Panthers were going to have played, where they beat the Lions on Sunday night football. and it's like, I'm all over the Panthers here. I'm this is definitely one of my five. and then the Hertz news comes out and everyone is now pounding Carolina. Right. And I'm like, okay, Carolina will probably win the game. They'll probably win by more than three. but I am just not going to to follow that hurt. So that was one where I had to just step back and say, I'm I'm not taking that game. Let everyone else blow themselves up. but if I take that, you know, if I just try and get that one point, does that one point really matter? 'cause everyone else would have gotten that one point. And it was turned out to be the most picked game in circa maybe ever. was the package last week. Yeah. speaker-1: Interesting. speaker-0: And they covered they did cover though, right? speaker-2: They did, but the Eagles made it tough. it ended up being two touchdowns, but it was a one score game with six or seven minutes. speaker-0: Yeah. That was one of our scra squad ride picks that we had that we're like if that yeah, if that would have been right, I think we would have had all the one o'clock right. speaker-1: Yeah, it it was that. And the reason why going back to Fade in the Public is that that was one that was the how we did our strategy this week. I don't know if you actually followed on the last live, but that's how we did it. We by public I mean I think the pool. So if you go into the pool, you'll see the percentages and it shows you how many folks are on one team or the other team. And if you look at that, we just did the opposite of that for all of our picks for the squad ride. It was looking pretty good in the first half and then obviously that one game. It's it's so it's incredibly hard, right? you guys are you're picking five, that's incredibly hard. The sixteen every week is just beyond. And then doing it for this long, shout out to Biage, who's up in the rankings right now. The guy's speaker-2: He's he was tripping this morning on X. He was speaker-1: I saw that. I saw that. man. No, he meant it. well look, so if you're thinking about your week, first of all, you're welcome for reminding you about that pick to speaker-0: Tell that story really quickly. speaker-2: So I'm at I'm at a work dinner on Thursday night and I've just I just haven't been good because I don't pick the Thursday games in the circuit contest. So mentally I'm not submitting my picks on Thursday. So I was at a work dinner on Thursday, feel the feel the phone buzz. I'm like, is that my wife? So I look and it's Mania and he's like, put in your picks, man. And it's seven thirty-five. Go to the bathroom, I submit all 16 picks, I go back. And then I don't really think about it. I I was confident in the card. I picked what I knew. It wasn't just a random thing. It was like I had gone through this process, the last earlier days. So speaker-1: Yeah. speaker-2: I had the I had the games in mind. So I submit it. And then it actually took you to send me I knew I was doing well, but I didn't think to check. And you sent me the eyeball text last night around the third quarter when the the commander started coming back. I'm like, okay. It's just got real. So thank you for both text. speaker-1: Dude, I love that. yeah, I can't tell you how many times folks either said it and forget it. you're not just there, but was close to there. and others, and then they like they have no idea that they're in the running. And then either we text them or their friends text them, and like, dude, you're in it. Like this is like it you're a quarter away. And then they like start texting us, like, my god, what do I need? Did I put my toe tie in? Did I do this? I'm like, Yes, you did. Just look like it's a normal process. Please set a reminder. But now as speaker-2: I'm locked in. Now I'm coming for Biaji. speaker-1: Dude. speaker-0: He gave you that the energy now, right? You need a Yep, you need to lock in. speaker-1: That's it. We put that's it. We we put the spotlight on and now Chris is just gonna take week after week after week on this. If we see you multiple weeks, we're gonna have to cap it. speaker-0: I know. Some people people were like were worried about you coming into the pool this year. We're like, Yeah, we got a million dollar guy coming into the pool, we're heavy hitters now. And if we got to week six, I like, Man, maybe maybe we got a donation from Coin. Maybe he's got, you know, a bigger fish to fry. speaker-2: I got some of the other the other Saint Joe's guys in the in the contest too, I think. So speaker-0: nice. speaker-1: We should. Dude, anyone in the everyone in the in the C tier I've definitely, hit up. I gotta get Flo back in. Flo's not in this year, I don't think. but we'll get him. We'll get him some. speaker-2: Not he just he just had kid number three under four, so speaker-1: That's f hey, that's fair. That's fair. Maybe I'll give that. I was gonna ask your confidence going in like to that s to Sunday night or even Monday, but it seems like you didn't even know that you were it was on the radar. So like we'll we'll skip that. I really wanna know how you do your total tie strategy. Is it similar to your analysis that you do for like your pickings in general, or is it lucky number? We've heard it all on the show, so speaker-2: total the total tie. I'm just gonna look at what the overunder is and I will just keep it at that. so last night I think I went a little bit below overunder just because I kind of like to play unders on the primetime games too. So I think the overunder was maybe fifty-one last night. Correct me if I'm wrong, and I picked forty eight and it landed at forty. So where I think the guy who I was tied with for first, he picked fifty four. So he went above the number. speaker-1: Yeah. yeah. There's usually a couple of strategies with that. It's like you either go pretty high or you go like extra low, just so you're like kinda in that mid if you're in the middle of it, then it's it really is a crapshoot, depending on how many people are tied, obviously. speaker-0: I'm gonna give one gem to s to the people that actually listen to the pod. another way to look at it is to look at previous total ties. Like if you're go going against someone going into Monday night and it's clear who your opponent is, you can look at some people just do the same number every single time. So speaker-1: Crazy by the way. speaker-0: Yeah, it's crazy. So if you look at that, you can just be like, okay, person speaker-1: But they speaker-0: most likely is gonna pick this number. I and now I know the over under, right? Now you can like make a more educated guess. speaker-1: True. speaker-2: Someone picking the same number each time, put forty for Rams bills, which ends up speaker-0: Yeah. speaker-1: Exactly. But watch, it's the one week that they just should the bed. speaker-2: Josh Allen gets hurt first play. It's like speaker-1: Unbelievable. Unbelievable. speaker-0: I'm looking at the the your card here. You lost the first game Thursday night. I can't tell you how many people either forget Thursday night or they lose Thursday night and then they go on to win. speaker-1: Yeah, they're going to rally. speaker-2: Well, I'll say that game I had some American currency on on the Seattle Seahawks there, and they deserve to win that game. That's one of those, like I'm gonna look back at the week six card and say, what were the efficiency ratings? Seattle, outside of Sam Darnold throwing some stupid picks, like dominated that game in the trenches. They dominated yards per play. I think Denver was something crazy. Denver had like twenty three yards in the last twenty plays in the full game. speaker-0: Yeah. It was the lowest amount of total yards for a win by a team in since nineteen fifty or something like that. Something ridiculous. speaker-1: I do remember seeing that stat. Yeah, you're right. yeah, that was a wild game. I remember you texted me and you seemed very confident. I was like, I don't know about primetime. speaker-2: I had a little booze at the work dinner, so it was there. Yeah. speaker-1: You could smell it through the text. speaker-0: The other the other two were Tampa Bay. that was plus two and a half and Tampa Bay was up early in that game. speaker-1: And they still had it almost towards the end. speaker-0: Yeah, they blew that one. So you yeah, you weren't you weren't off the mark that one. speaker-2: They are a top three unluckiest team, if you go to the NFL luck rankings right now, the Bucks. And I think they're better without Baker. I mean, this new collection from speaker-0: This kid this kid looks good. speaker-2: Kansas, right? Yeah. Yeah. His name. speaker-1: Yeah, he's legit. Jalen Forgetting his last name. speaker-0: No, he's be he's impressive. I I I was impressed. Is it speaker-1: Daniels? I know that's weird because it's the Daniels, right? So close to the Washington quarterback. speaker-0: That's hard. That's hard. The unlucky ranking because you had Baker before that and then you had the quarterback's such a important position that it's hard to like handicap that when you have two different people at the helm. But you don't care. You just kinda go straight straight off that those analytics. speaker-2: Yeah, if anything, you just kinda look at the I I look at whoever was going in instead of Baker was an upgrade at that point. They were and thirteen against the spread from last October through this fast. speaker-0: Insane. Insane. speaker-1: That's a speaker-2: So it's I I made the analogy. It's like, the bucks are red. It's like seeing red come up at the roulette table twelve times in a row and you're like, it's gotta hit black and it does it again. And it's and like speaker-1: You literally just. speaker-0: That prime time beam. speaker-1: That's like we've done that strategy so many times that it's like we're putting it all on, just keep doubling, it's gonna happen. speaker-0: It's burned us a couple of times, but we've made some really good money on it. speaker-1: So much money on that. speaker-0: Yeah, the the the it's it's not that you go like, you know, it's red, red, red, red and you go black. You actually the biggest thing is you go green because at some point someone goes and they go hard on the other color and for whatever reason, I don't know the if it's weighted or what, but the damn thing is it starts bouncing and then it hits that green color and you're like, man, both colors went, but that thirty five to one or whatever it is, It's on the green and you're like, my gosh. Just hit nicely. speaker-2: my phone is blowing up right now just from Nixtex. and I'm not even watching the game. But I just wanted to make sure that that wasn't interfering with the with the noise. speaker-0: No you're speaker-1: No, no, no, you're good. And apologies for that. We dude, we were like, shit, it's the start of the NBA. we're all all three of us are gonna be wanting to watch this right now. speaker-2: That's fine. speaker-0: what's funny? What's funny is is like we grew up Nick's because New York and then Leo Erline, I don't know if you're familiar with Leo. So Leo's dad was like third highest up there and he used to hook us up with tickets like anytime, every time, whenever he wanted. Met Jason Kidd, Vince Carter, used to take us in the locker room and like and and Christine Bounds, shout out to Christine Bounds, we have Rob Bounds in our pool. And I can't say I'm not a Nets fan either. I'm like both. I know that sounds sa that's sacrilegious in that world, but I can't. I I love the Nets and I love the the Knicks. It's just that's just the way it is. how to show some research. speaker-2: And and funny you say Leo Erline, by the way. no was it January 2020? I was about to take a job with the Nets doing season ticket sales because I was like done with the whole Wall Street thing. I'm like, I just want to go pursue my passion, go work in basketball. Maybe I work from ticket sales, work up to GM. And I met with Leo as part of my interview process throughout. And then, you know, they came back with an offer and it was right around like February 2020, and I I turned it down. But thank god I did 'cause I probably would have been out of a job right away, starting right as COVID hit. Yeah. but those those Nets teams those last couple of years were really fun. that's the reason why K D and Kyrie came there was Kenny Atkinson coaching, Joe Harris, Spencer Dimwitty. speaker-0: That was a team. That that team before I speaker-2: Even. speaker-0: I forget if it was after KD and and Harden and Kyrie, but my my favorite was with Atkinson you had as the coach and then you had Jared Allen as the center, Dinwiddy, and then D'Angelo Russell. That team was like a team, it was fun to watch. They were under the radar. that was my favorite recent speaker-1: I remember you talking about that team. speaker-0: team. Yeah, but speaker-1: You're like, dude, play the spread on a Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Cause they were they were like shocking every team that would come into the house. speaker-0: Yeah, they were they were really good at home. they're just fun, man. They were fun. The Knicks are just great they're fun to watch too, 'cause they're just a good team and Jalen's such a good player. speaker-2: I a question to to Twitter the other day because Delante West was fighting Michael Beasley for a bag. I don't know what was glad to see he's doing well, but that's yeah, me too. I like that stuff. But yeah, but I said is like if that 04 St. Joe's team goes on, doesn't you know, they win the national championship that year, which they absolutely could have. But does that make St. Joe's the big brother villain over the little brother for the next decade? Does Jalen Brunson go there? Does Nova has that success? my god. Do the Knicks get a championship? Just playing revisionist history there. Yeah. I love that. St. Joe's wins the title in 04. The Knicks do not win a title in 2026. speaker-1: That's amazing. my god. Friggin' love that. Well, turning back to Fourth and Minia and the Pick'em League for a second here. What did you do when you found out that you won? Was it I know it's a little late on a Monday night and we got kids, we're not partying at this point, but speaker-0: Not a million dollars, but speaker-1: a million dollars, but speaker-2: What I just sell just celebrated five year anniversary, my wife's thirty-fifth birthday, all within a couple of weeks. So I'm getting jammed from all angles. So I went and bought Hamilton tickets, because she's never seen it. And so we went and bought orchestra, Hamilton tickets before I knew I won. So then I'm like, okay, that covers that. So thank you family for paying for Hamilton. we're going tomorrow night. I'll let you know how. speaker-1: I've heard only good things, dude. I really want to go too, actually. I like I've only been to a couple Broadway, but obviously that's one that just it it's a must go, it feels like. So you tell us how it goes. all right. You alluded to it before. I think we're at this point. What about the squad ride? Tell us your suggestions. We're open to anything. We were on a trajectory that was pretty good. We were it was like six wins, seven wins, eight wins, ten wins, and then I think we went down to eight this past week. So I don't even know. I didn't even look where we're at, Pete. Like this actual past week. The week before was eight. I gotta look. But let me know your thoughts, Chris. speaker-2: Remind me, so you took the excess money and how much per week are you putting on the squad ride? I saw it was eight fifty or something. Yeah, so or it could vary. speaker-1: There was a hundred and fifty total. If you divide that by the amount of weeks, it ended up being eight thirty-three. So that's what dollars and thirty two cents. Eight dollars and thirty-three cents. And we're doing that. We're putting the spread on on each game, essentially. Not Thursday just because if it loses, then you're kinda all out of it already, kind of thing. We want to build momentum. speaker-2: All right, hear me out. I'm just thinking of this right now before I get my game on what I think can be adjusted there. How about the winner from the previous week has to put 50 towards the squad ride for next week? So I'm gonna do that. 50 plus your eight, so 5850 for the squad ride this weekend. We're gonna climb on some games. And it doesn't have to be this 13 team monster. Maybe we get selected with it. Maybe we're just like, six or seven games. Maybe there's an a big moneyline underdog on there. but let's do it. Let's do it this weekend. speaker-0: Pete speaker-1: I assume you're in. speaker-0: sold. That's amazing. speaker-1: That's amazing. Dude, I love that idea. speaker-2: And I know I listen, if Brandon Biagi wins next week and I know he doesn't want to throw the fifty for the following week, I get it. speaker-1: This is it. You're good. He's gonna win next week. I can't wait to just pressure him. Or whoever wins and be like, guys, you know Chris did this. Gotta make it juicy. This speaker-0: yeah. speaker-1: we don't need to go crazy and do every matchup. Let's let's figure it out. speaker-2: So two things on that. I was looking at the squad ride and there was a lot of you know, you were probably trying to match, no, you weren't. I was gonna say you were trying to match like what the CBS sports lines were terms there. You weren't. speaker-1: I was doing that a little. No, I was I was anyone that tried just genuinely felt that it was like I'm gonna lose by a hook. I was just like, I'm not I'm not gonna do that. Like we're just gonna move the line, get enough. speaker-2: My suggestion, yeah, move the line, take the hook on certain things. Cause I saw, and as I I'm not gonna blow up my own parlay and numbers that I I shot week two to Mike, and he can share that with you, Pete, after I don't know if he did. but I lost. I had a an eight-teamer that was a nice juicy payout, and I lost I didn't lose it. I I won it, but it got regraded because the Jets pushed at three versus the Steelers. Yep. but that's one, you just you just buy the hook. If you're doing a six, seven, eight team parlay. Buy the hooks on the key numbers, on the key numbers only. So three, three and a half, four, four and a half, seven and a half, and ten and a half. those would be my key numbers to to buy the hooks on. speaker-0: But wait, why is the key number four and a half? Why isn't it three or six and a half? Seven and speaker-2: We're at four. Four is a key number. most games land on three and seven, obviously. someone actually tweeted out and I'll share it with you after of the the layout of of how often games have landed on certain numbers this season and clearly three and seven, but four is a big number too. So if you don't want to land on the push there, take it to four and a half. Especially if you're doing a big group parlay, it's not going to affect your payout too much just buying that half a point. And that'll keep it keep it alive on there. One other thing, and I know the IRS is not listening in on this call, but the on this podcast, but if you go 300 to one on any parlay, The sports books are required to send you a ten ninety-nine form. So they're gonna withhold the taxes right away. So anything under three hundred to one, you wanna keep it in that ballpark so you don't get banged with that. Just speaker-1: Go. speaker-0: I I thought it would be like so it doesn't matter the amount, it just matters the odd. speaker-2: Doesn't matter the amount. Yeah. speaker-1: that's interesting. Okay. speaker-2: I that the hard way when I was collecting the the the guy who was collecting the there was some thirty thousand dollar check people at the circa thing and they're like, Well, they didn't withhold any taxes because it was less than three hundred to one at that point. speaker-1: There you go. Well that's see, this is the inside that we need. speaker-0: I have another question. So you're going through that million dollar thing, right? And you're now your family, your friends, so everyone's close to you is telling you they all have an opinion now on who to pick and what if like what was your strategy keeping people at bay and being like, I'm gonna continue to do what I do that that that got me to this place? speaker-2: welcome it. I welcome the random person telling me like, how could you pick this game? Or and I'm like, that just validated my point. Yeah. some stupid things that I would do last year is I would go to like New York Post or USA Today and I would see, you know, even watching get up on ESPN, not that I'm watching get up on ESPN, but like you see a flash across the screen and it's like seven pro analysts have taken the Cowboys. This we're like, okay, maybe the Packers are going play there. So stuff like that. So I don't I don't think anyone is gonna tell me what to do at this point, like in the you know, at least friends and family on that. but I will take into consideration if people are like adamant about one game, I'll like, I'm gonna take a second look at this. speaker-0: Yeah. I guess you just cloud your judgment, and then you start guessing yourself. So happy that you take it that way and and it validates yourself, man, that this might be actually a really good pick. speaker-2: And and I'm saying all this from a pedestal right now. I'm coming off a four in one week. I win the La Familia. I go eleven for fourteen. I am due for regression. Regression comes for everyone. so don't don't tail me next week if that's speaker-0: So speaker-1: Pete. You're gonna do it, Pete, or am I gonna do it? Do I tell him? speaker-0: yeah, I'll go. I'll go really quickly. So what we've learned in like what is 14 years now here, we learned that the person that wins the week, the next week they regress. pretty much 99 out of a hundred times. and you like that's why we were actually against the person picking. But maybe what we do is you just go with like what you think that you're supposed to do, and then for our For our little parlay, group parlay, squad ride, we just do the opposite. Because we just we we notice that they they have their worst week. speaker-1: You split it. look, I think if we it's so hard, right? we say this every time. You go, you say this every week to yourself. You're like, you know what? I'm gonna learn from what I did last week. I'm gonna change this up. I'm not gonna listen to this. I'm just gonna go with my gut. And honestly, that's how I do some of my picks sometimes. I just make them based off of what I've seen, the patterns that I've seen earlier in the season, the patterns that I've seen in other seasons. And then I go back and look at some of the numbers to say, okay, like where where are we actually at? Was I on par? Was I not on par? So It's just so hard to do that after you're on a high and you've been winning. so number one, kudos to you for being able to do it and win the millions. I mean, that's just incredibly hard. And the streak that you had that you said I forget it was like week two to the end of the year is like almost impossible. So again, congrats and let's cook up something this week for the squad for La Familia. So everyone's really excited for it. all right. Last traditional question. if you know the show, folks, you know what I'm about to say. What is your victory song for this week? This song should describe your performance of your winnings. speaker-2: so I will this is a real life scenario where I'm playing this song multiple times a day for my three year old son is Who Let the Dogs Out by the Baja Men. That symbolizes that that is the the essence of this week's card was Who Let the Dogs Out. It was the commanders barking, it was the Jets, it was the Raiders, it was it was the ugly dogs that no one wanted to touch. They were out barking this weekend. So Who let the dogs out by the Baja Man? And if you have a good producer, he's gonna outro us to to that song. speaker-1: That's it. You're looking at the producers. So we will absolutely do that. All right. We're replacing the song, Pete. That's it. And you'll get the post. You'll get all the love. This was amazing, Chris. Thank you so much, man, for jumping on the pod. We really appreciate it. And dude, you're the winner of this, you're the winner in our hearts, you're the winner of the circa. And I hope you're killing it again. If you ever need advice, let us know. If you're just tricky on something, we'll be that that chirp in your ear to help you out. to either further confirm your pick or or go the opposite way. speaker-2: Love it. And I I hope to see you guys at some St. Joe's games this year. I don't know what the the out of conference schedule looks like, but we usually always run into each other at the Barclays. So let's let's make it happen. speaker-1: let's do it, please. maybe even go back to Philly, man. Pete and I are gonna be there in March. I mean, obviously by then it it's whether they're gonna be there or not. I think that's tournament time. But yeah, keep us updated. If you ever go back, we would love to see you there or in Brooklyn, we'll do it up. speaker-2: This was fun and we should run a three on three tournament again because I just remembered as we were talking about it, me, you and Anders used to run the three on three scene at St. Joe's. So shout out Anders Rasmussen. speaker-1: That's it. That's it. I love it. Bring us speaker-0: At the top of the pool. Him and his brother now. speaker-1: Yeah, Yannick, congrats to him, shoutout, he just got married. All right. Well thanks again, Chris. Really appreciate it, man. Let's see you next week, dude. And obviously let's talk. we'll cook up the the squad ride. speaker-2: Let's do it. Great to see you guys. speaker-0: Ooh, that was awesome. Gold. Gold. speaker-1: Go speaker-0: Yeah. The the content, the storytelling was just so cool, man. I I I just as he was saying it, like it you you alluded to it. It's like it's that feeling. I want that, like everybody every every capper, better wants that feeling just for one night where you just you have s something riding on it, you have your whole squad, you call up all your boys, you know, and we're we're going to the game. you're having a good time. speaker-1: Imagine we did that. Imagine we were literally at the end, it's going into Monday night and we're like speaker-0: Going get in flight and we're going to our boys. speaker-1: Bring no, we're bringing all our familiar crew. speaker-0: Off the whole pool? speaker-1: O hundred and sixty one people were speaker-0: Yeah, we take the whole speaker-1: like that would be that would actually be sick though. speaker-0: that would be a thing to remember. we would be on E S P N it would be it would be a whole thing. No. speaker-1: It would definitely be a whole thing. But honestly, just talking about this makes me think about that moment when he won and he was just like, Boys, we're going to Vegas. Like we're gonna park it up and then we're gonna come back. That is that's everything. speaker-0: Yeah. my gosh. I I there was just it would be a movie. I just that's probably All right. No more dreaming. Let's let's talk about week six 'cause week six was fun, man. It was it was one of those two where I I felt like I had a t a chance there. I felt really good about it. I was going in and and the Jets were the only game that I had lost in the fur in the one o'clocks. speaker-1: Really? Did you win your Thursday? You were you had speaker-0: yeah, I won Thursday, yeah, at Broncos. honestly, just because of my rule, hey, it's the Super Bowl, take the dog and take the dog at home. But I was like I was convinced Seattle was gonna win that one too. I didn't I just didn't like them. I didn't I didn't like the Broncos. I like like like Coin said, they can't score, man. But I did like the fact that I did like the fact that Sean Payton was at the back at the helm. I don't know if it was the second game back at the helm. speaker-1: Second week at the Yeah, second week. speaker-0: Pla calling offensive plays, yeah. Yep. Okay. So Okay. That but I I just yeah, Thursday nights at home and they have a really good at home advantage. speaker-1: Yeah, I was gonna say Denver's a tough place to play at. I don't know. To me, to me, the writing was on the wall on that one. I think Seattle, Seattle, Seattle's a really good team. Let's not let's not like put that on the burner kind of thing. But I think they I think the Broncos playing their prime time. We've seen it time after time at this point. And it's not like the Broncos are just a horrible team, right? Like they're coming off of a great season. Yes, it's been a rough Bubby Road at this point. They have great head coach. You prepare the whole week for this. It's not like Seattle had a long week. They were short as well, right? They're traveling. So there's just a lot of factors that go into that. And I think screen and speaker-0: over reactions and being able to pick for the the following week. speaker-1: Totally, totally. so we're just only gonna do a couple key matchups today, right? We're not we're not going to the full realm here. speaker-0: we can quickly go through it if you want. I I I have the sleeve here. We can probably go through the top from the picks section of the pool. which I'm okay with, or we can c kinda keep it to the the top games. speaker-1: Yeah, no, I have a couple marked over here, but why don't you go for the full slate? 'Cause I don't think my notes has the full slate on this one. So speaker-0: We talked about Seattle and the Broncos there already. That 9 30 game Eastern division game Texans versus Jaguars. feels like the Jaguars, that's their home, their home field. stay speaker-1: Well they stayed there that week from last year speaker-0: there, yes, from back to back weeks. So you're just like, okay, there's that advantage. Houston hasn't really shown anything this year consistently. So do they get that win and then they lose this game in London? it took everything in my might, everything in my might to to not take the to not take the Jags in this and it was just like a gut thing where I was just like, All right, I'm going against the public. We're going with the Texans. So that was luck for me. speaker-1: I think the Texans coming off of the win and knowing that like this could be the spark for them for this season, and then obviously the Marvin Harrison trade, which he had no impact. I don't even if he played, honestly. but regardless, I think that like it was a spark that they needed. Houston and Jaguars are in the same division. Is that correct? speaker-0: Yes, that's correct. speaker-1: So another division game too. I'm just like, there's just too much on the you know, too much writing on that. So that to me it was easy to be honest, picking the Texans. and Travish Hunter becomes the first player since 2020 since 2002 to record an interception and a catch and a T D within the same game. Yep. Which dude, this guy's a fucking animal, man. He is just a beast. Well, this was bound to happen. Like he's been saying if you ever see one of his interviews, too, the he's just he's still like such a kid, by the way. Yeah, like talks like a kid, but his confidence is at a all time high. And once Dion signed him off signed off for him, I was like, This guy, he he knows good talent, dude. that's it. speaker-0: everybody. I heard that they're gonna start taking him a little bit off the defensive end. Like he's gonna be pro predominantly off or or like one side or the other basically. But maybe not. Maybe not. Maybe they're just like maybe he's gonna be like, dude, I play both sides and this is how it goes. speaker-1: They're they're pushing it, but he was pushing back really hard on it to to do that. I don't know if you watched the Pivot podcast, but he was on there as an episode and they were talking about it and they was like, dude, like there's a reason why people don't even if you have the capability, they don't do it because it's incredibly hard, number one, and your body's just gonna break down faster. Like you're on the field that much longer. It's just it's impossible. He got hurt last year. So I don't know. It's it's interesting, but I I'm rooting for him, man. He's he really is speaker-0: If he wants it and he's that good, let him be. Let him be. Let him do his thing. If his career is shorter, who cares? But that maybe maybe that's not his goal. Maybe his goal is to like just maximize his time that he has out there. He could he could he could hurt himself walking down the the stairs. So all right, we got Bears versus the Falcons, man. Ben Johnson, Bears, like it's been tough. They've been back and forth, but Caleb was back this week. speaker-1: Dude, Iceman coming back. I just Ben Johnson's too good for me to go against this guy anymore. Like sure, backup quarterback, fine, but you he played the Jets on that one. So that that was like a whatever game. but obviously he got exposed in that next game. Like if Iceman's on the field, I just think anything can happen, dude. This team is like completely different with him on the field. And Ben Johnson is like his confidence at an all time high when he's having a quarterback like that. So again, didn't surprise me. But the Falcons, I just feel bad for them. I feel like they should be so much better every year. And they just can't figure it out. speaker-0: don't because I feel like the week this next week I feel like they're gonna get a W. They're in a good sp speaker-1: Why you saw it earlier or something? speaker-0: playing the forty niners. And forty niners are coming across and they're undefeated and I and I and speaker-1: I think speaker-0: they're the best they're the best team. speaker-1: Dude, they are they are legit. speaker-0: Yeah, I think they are the best team in the NFL right now. But speaker-1: But everyone's saying that. Everyone's saying they're legit. Everyone's gonna be on the forty niners. I mean, the spread's actually closer than I thought it should be. It's three and a half. speaker-0: three and a half. That's another thing. It's it's very close. and you've speaker-1: That's funny. speaker-0: had to get the win. So anyway, you have you have that game right there. The Falcons did make a valiant effort and they almost blew that they almost covered that spread man. They they started they had that one last drive there. okay Ravens versus Browns. A lot of people were on the Browns here. That's what scared me a little bit. And ultimately Lamar not being present I think hurt them in the end. speaker-1: yeah, yeah. it's hard not to say that, right? I think the Browns, they're coming off of a loss to the Jets. So they feel like they're having this great start, and then that happens on the road. So it's either you bounce back quick against a divisional game or does is this the start of the fall, right? And they've seen that how many times? I don't care what you say, man. This monken dude, the coach, he's legit. He he's really like getting these guys in the right direction. Obviously, Ravens not having Lamar is a big deal, but give kudos, dude. They won, they won at home. And they did what they got to do. 13 to 10, really low scoring game. clearly the defense came to to play. but you gotta give credit where credit's due. Like they were in a position, they got a field goal, game-winning field goal, and then the rest is history. speaker-0: They're starting to believe. They're starting to believe speaker-1: Dude, momentum in sports. speaker-0: Yep, and you got you're playing for the guy next to you. My gosh. Myles Garrett leaves and and they have a a defensive game like that, hold them to ten points, the the Ravens, it it there's no better time to be a Cleveland Browns fan. Elena's in a good good spot. Hopefully she's she has some time to root for her team. speaker-1: That's it. That's it. I got the win over her but just for my Jets, but other than that. speaker-0: True. She has she has to win everywhere else. There's a lot more. all right, Titans versus Colts. look. Division division game? I believe that's a division game. speaker-1: is it Titans Colts? Let's see. Yeah, it is. speaker-0: Yeah, so I was six and a half, they're gonna be closer. speaker-1: I just I'm I'm literally done, Pete. Anything that is a divisional game, I'm big. speaker-0: Six and a half or higher. speaker-1: That's it. I'm taking it. I don't care. I just don't care. this is a prime example. Titans suck. Everyone's like, my god, they suck. Salah's arguably if he's a defensive coordinator on any team, he's the best co d one of the best defensive coordinators in the league. I think speaker-0: Guy. speaker-1: does get his players to fight for him and they look really bad coming into this game and they pulled it out in Indianapolis, by the way. It's really hard to play there. Yeah. Yeah. speaker-0: They have they have great fan base. speaker-1: Keenan Allen, by the way, a little side note, he passes Terrell Owens for the ninth most receptions in NFL history. Ow. He's a beast. He's a beast. speaker-0: yeah. He's he's had a nice nice career. all right. Again, division game. Jets versus Patriots here. I just you if you look back at Drake May versus the Jets, there's just been a lot of blowouts there and my my heart was like, they're this is like Jets aren't playing they they they're they're showing flashes of good good talent and stuff like that, but still not enough there. The out what was the outscored stat that they have in the last two minutes of the first half or something like that is ridiculous. It was speaker-1: Dude, it's it's actually insane. speaker-0: just it was it was a combination of that for me. That was my bad beat. If I if I would have stuck with that one, man, I would have been in a nice little lead there for my for last speaker-1: In the final two minutes of the first half, Aaron Glenn has been outscored a hundred to six. speaker-0: You can't win games like that, dude. That's like speaker-1: Dude, that's 20 Aaron Glenn's twenty-three games as a head coach. That's too twenty twenty-three games, dude. Yeah. Honestly, I'm not gonna harp on this game too much. I I I don't I just I can't talk about it that much. I genuinely think that Aaron Glenn's not the guy. I think Frank Wright's not the guy. It's unfortunate. I really wanted him to be the dude. I think we're just we're at a pivotal point here. We have so much talent on the team. And we need a young, a young proven coach, if that makes sense. someone who's showed flashes, but just needs another chance kind of thing. I so there's that and then there's the Mike Tomlin argument, which I'm all for Mike Tomlin. Honestly, speaker-0: Mike in second. speaker-1: I think he needed a f and he needs just a new look. You're about to have three first round draft picks. If the Colts continue to lose, we're gonna have even a higher draft pick. Okay. Cowboys, we need them to continue to lose, we'll get even a higher draft pick. I just like everything's the writings on the wall here. we are the talent that we're about to get next year is insane. we just like we really need to learn how to win. The only thing I'm worried about is our stars that have been there for a little long, like Garrett Wilson. Dude, he is fuming at this point. He's he's a game away from from asking for a trade. Like literally. Yeah. None of that speaker-0: No, it's he that's overdue. Like I wouldn't even be mad. speaker-1: That's the thing. But so at this point now people are saying, which I kinda love this idea, by the way, they trade so you you offer a team that's has a high draft pick, you trade Garrett and your and one of your first rounds for their highest pick so that you can get Jeremiah Smith, who's I don't know if you've heard about him. Have you been following college football? He's literally the like best wide receiver we've seen in decades coming out. Like he hits be he's he's speaker-0: So why would why I guess you pr you trade for a proven wide receiver in the NFL? speaker-1: Well he's just Yeah. speaker-0: why would anyone trade if they're in that position, you know? speaker-1: To to get him bec I know, but you're getting a first round pick and you're getting Gary Wilson. Gary Wilson's proven. not that Jeremiah Smith won't be proven after the first literally two games. This kid's gonna change everything. And sorry, side note, I said I was gonna talk a lot about them, but I of course I am. He is Geno Smith's cousin or nephew or something like that. it's insane. So I don't know. There's a there's definitely a connection there. I'm sure they're talking. yeah, so pretty cool. We'll see. speaker-0: all right, moving on to s to the n next New York team here, Giants versus Saints. speaker-1: Dude, what a fucking game. speaker-0: man, I I the Saints, that was the one game. I think that was my lock of the week from the previous week. speaker-1: It was. Dude, you were all over that. speaker-0: Yeah, I I well the spread just was a little fishy to me. And then I had it's always that. It's always the one where you're like, I felt the it was my favorite game, I think, the two weeks in a row and they they just dropped it. They just dropped the ball, dropped the ball. Yeah. I was like, it's usually the one that you give up on. And I was like, I'm gonna go three day weeks in a row. speaker-1: What, now that coin brought that up, I almost want to see the Saints and how they've been. Because if you're talking about luck, their their shit's probably they probably lost every game in the luck. They're at the stop of the charts. They speaker-0: They speaker-1: must be. speaker-0: It'll be interesting. I would like I would like for him he has to share that with us. like that Yeah, yeah, yeah. speaker-1: Obviously. I've seen it. I've seen it. If you go to his page, CoinHop at CoinHop on Twitter, you'll see he he's tweeted a couple of them. They're actually pretty they're really cool statistics. So it's amazing, like with just where we where we are as in society and and just AI with all the technology that we have, like the stats that come out. And I was actually I I told you I was at my best friend Nick his memorial outing yesterday. Shout out to Nick. Love you, buddy. and his family and we saw some old guys that we haven't seen in a while and JP is one of the guys who were there. He's he's been in the whole scene for a while and he was saying that. He was like, like it's never been harder with all the statistics that are out there to put out lines and to you know to speaker-0: Sharper than ever, right? speaker-1: Yeah, it's it's insane. So yeah, it's it's pretty wild. speaker-0: Yeah. The the little comeback there, a little flashes from J J. yeah. speaker-1: Hey J. speaker-0: That that c that decision this week from Harbor is gonna be interesting. speaker-1: I that might be actually easier for him. Jameis really had his opportunity to keep it going, you know, and he just he this guy can't stop throwing picks. so I think that that was that was just the writing on the wall there. But honestly very impressed by JJ to come in and to mount dude, he almost he almost brought him back at the end of that game, Pete. speaker-0: And no, i after throwing a pick on his first pass as a giant or something like that, right? it was one of his first passes. speaker-1: Insane. but I don't know. That that was that was pretty wild. Camara becomes the sixth player in NFL history to record five thousand plus career rushing yards and receiving yards. He's been in the league for a minute, but he's a beast. speaker-0: Scatabow didn't didn't freaking get a like run or something like that. He didn't even get a one play call. That was insane. speaker-1: They're not fucking around, dude. Horball's like if you keep fumbling, I can't have you in the game doing these major fumbles. But honestly, that's that's a wild pivot. You can't go from getting the ball that long to not speaker-0: Love it though, speaker-1: Put the pressure on him. speaker-0: Yeah, put the pressure on him. Like it's early in the year, the three, two, and one in a division that sucks. Like let him do that now. You think he's gonna fumble again? Like it's it's it's th those fifty-fifty balls now, he eliminates that. This guy is gonna be and and the game that you're gonna get out of him next week or the week after is just like I'm scared of that one. speaker-1: I don't think I don't think that's that's an overthink it. Just take his over in the yards and you're gonna speaker-0: Yeah. Just can't just go with ATM. Panthers, Eagles, we talked a little bit about this already with but yeah, once once Jalen went down, I feel like that that was that one kind of like flipped real live line. So we had the pool had an advantage there. Steelers I thought it was gonna be a lot easier than expected. If you looked at all the top people in the pool, they all picked the bucks though, which was interesting. I just I just thought that that was a fluke by the by the quarterback on Thursday night, but it was not. It was not. This kid is the speaker-1: watched him I've watched him three times now and 'cause he came in like I think was it how or did he play the whole game? No, he played once once Baker like messed up his thing. He played a little, then he had a full game and then that was his last game. Dude, he's he's actually good, Pete. He he he's like he has a lot of confidence on the field. I'm looking forward to it. I hope he he figures it out. I mean this is it's they're in a weird spot. They just paid Baker a shit ton of money. Yeah. speaker-0: I know. speaker-1: I have a sick feeling that the Jets are somehow gonna like get Baker Mayfield or something like that. I don't like it. speaker-0: I don't know. I I'd yeah rather the opposite. I'd rather get the backup. Yeah. You never know. You never know. You never know how that works out. man, this game here, what a surprise. Cardinals versus Rams. The Cardinals went outright as a thirteen and a half speaker-1: Dude. This one I don't get. I don't get this one at all. I I I get divisional, so maybe they'll keep it close, but you lose to them at home? No. I'm sorry. speaker-0: You do you have to you have to sound the fire alarm, right? They're two and four. The team speaker-1: Right. speaker-0: that was supposed to be the best NFL team. speaker-1: Yeah, in the league. that's a thing, right? You you look at that and then they have the same record as the Jets. Have you seen that meme? There's like there's the the the show The Office. I haven't even you know, both of us haven't seen like that show, but speaker-0: Not not religiously. speaker-1: There's two the two of the coworkers and one guy's there and he's like it's a little logo with the Rams and the other guy's a Jess and the other guy's like Huh and and then the other guy sees him, he's like It's so dude, it's so good, I'll send it to you. It's so good. speaker-0: Some of these people, man, their minds it's crazy. But but the this is speaker-1: And ends up undefeated. speaker-0: this is a good one where like, man, anytime you see the best team in this is for goes for any sport. Anytime you see the best team in the league going against the worst team, man, it it takes the cojones. But you take you take that spread for the dog and you sprinkle. You sprinkle a little bit. Because I can't tell you how many times in my life I've seen it where the best team loses to the worst team. It's just a it's just a psychological sports thing where you just can't bring it. Then you're in the game with them. And then it's like we can't lose to the worst team. And then boom. speaker-1: It happens. Yeah. And especially at the professional level, it's easier for those things to happen. If you said it your whole life, you play down to your competition, it's it's a s it's a psychological thing. Unless you have I'm sure that there's select folks on the Rams who their mindset was right, they know they've been here before kind of thing. But to get all players, all fifty two on the roster, like to be on the same page, it's impossible. speaker-0: Dude, you start throwing the the the the passes become a little bit harder. Yep. you get stopped at the line. Is it same thing with your shot when you're shooting? Shoot the shooting that three is not the same, right? No when you're when you're close game in the fourth, and you shouldn't even be it shouldn't even be a game with these guys. So speaker-1: Yep, absolutely. Doesn't help that Devontae Adams got hurt too, so yeah. speaker-0: Yeah, I I that one I I can take it back. That's the one the one game of the week where I was like, Gosh, that one thirteen and a half a huge two two speaker-1: Thirteen and a half. It's just too high, dude. Any that was another rule that we were talking about. Anything that is above twelve, even ten. It's like almost an automatic dude. speaker-0: Yeah, that's my problem with taking that one now. I remember my thought process was like I think the Rams lost last week too. Before speaker-1: Yeah. speaker-0: so I was just like are they like they you're gonna have a little more motivation against a bad team losing back to back like that. And they're at home, not that LA fans are speaker-1: I'm with you on that one. That that would that's a really hard one to pick. speaker-0: That's where my mind that's where my mind went. I was like this speaker-1: That's where the speaker-0: is one of those high ones and maybe they're gonna blow blow you know? speaker-1: Totally, but this is where the blanket rule works, actually. Because it takes the thinking out of it. Like if like all that, like that reversed it for you, you see thirteen and a half, just take it. Don't even like don't even speaker-0: Best team versus the one of the worst teams, speaker-1: I know that sounds rookie, but I I genuinely like now that we've been doing this for a couple like for a long time now. It like how many times have we had this conversation? Yeah. And we just it's just one of those things where you you take into account like how the team looks. You see Tennessee, Titans and the thing, you're like thirteen. Like they could beat by twenty, like speaker-0: Point said, it's like that that number is baked in there for a reason. Everything's accounted for already. speaker-1: Yep, totally. speaker-0: That makes it that makes it even now. Now it's a 50-50. all right, next game. Man, talk about the Chargers, dude. Six points, twenty-two for Kansas City. You have a this is another one of those where this where that my philosophy for what I just said for the Cardinals is what I th what I thought about with the Chargers and Chiefs. And the Chargers are just I think they're they're missing something, man. They are they could be the worst team. I I don't know. I thought it was Miami I I think it's my I think it's Miami. speaker-1: I don't know. I think my heart is harder than them. speaker-0: I think the chargers might be. speaker-1: it's crazy. It's crazy to think that the Chargers may be the the last team to get a win this season. I definitely didn't have that on my bingo card this year. That's for sure. I mean, look, something clearly is gonna happen. Like there has to be a change up at this point. And I don't know if you do it this early for Harbaugh. but I know Mc Mike McDaniels is going. That's for damn sure. He's going. I can't believe he's not fired yet. speaker-0: Yeah, I I don't I don't know. Fun fact. Last time the Chargers started and six, Harborough was the co was the quarterback. speaker-1: shit, really? speaker-0: For the Chargers. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Wow. speaker-1: That's that's actually pretty funny. That's crazy. speaker-0: Crazy, right? That's a that's a crazy stat. And apparently he was a beast. He has a crazy stat for rushing or something like that. And at that time is it's insane. Yeah. speaker-1: Walk dude. I don't know if you've seen him walk. Whew the NFL the NFL's done done a number on him. speaker-0: They've done a number on him? man. man. Yeah. A speaker-1: Yeah. speaker-0: pimp walk. all right, moving along to the Bills versus the Raiders here. And the Bills Bills are a good team, and and the Raiders gave them a run for their money. And and I'm telling that, the Raiders are not the old Raiders, man. They are speaker-1: No. speaker-0: they are gonna compete. speaker-1: It's scaring me because we play them in two weeks and now that we got like the Patriots off, like this could be if we end up winning back to back, we're actually in they're running for the wild card technically at that point, which is like insane to think about. I just like I look, I'm not even gonna get down that route, but obviously one game at a time with those things. The only thing I'll say about the Bills is everyone's really, really hyped about them. I think they need to figure it out on defense. They're letting a lot of teams score a lot of points. And like, sure, you can go down the road of if I it doesn't matter. Like, I just get I just need to score as many, you know, more points than the other team kind of thing. And I can score. I feel like that's how the Bills view it. And speaker-0: That number. speaker-1: to me, defense wins championships, man. I just think like you gotta get a stop eventually. And obviously they've been able to do it on some of these folks, but like I think it catches up to them at a certain point. Unfortunately, I really am pulling for Josh Allen 'cause I genuinely think he's the best football player in the league. Bar none. I really do. I think he's that good. speaker-0: Massive man right there. All right, Cowboys, man. Everybody's really high on the Cowboys. And they just, I don't know, 1323. What happened in this game? I didn't even watch it. so I I can't comment on it too much, but my goodness, Packer fans, cheese heads, RJ, Tisha, Mr. Tisha, Coach Tisha, who else? Steffi Rivera. You guys are happy right now, man. speaker-1: Yeah, we gotta get we gotta get Tish on the pod. He was texting me. When you were out actually, I was dang off dude. speaker-0: Yeah, he said Yeah, he said like let me co host So all right we'll definitely have you on if if I catch the bug speaker-1: them on for the yeah totally man totally we we we gotta have them on for sure look I think the packers are proven franchise and they know how to win in in mid season form kind of thing so you know anything can happen in the beginning of the year I forgot how people were saying it before but this is like if you think about the the amount of games in the NFL like this is what this is the first third that's done yeah at this point speaker-0: one third in. I told that to Bree Bree's just one third. I was like, this I feel like the quickest speaker-1: Is the speaker-0: it's ever gone. speaker-1: I feel like it's going by really fast too. so I don't know. I I think that's a good way for NFL teams to kind of break out the seasons just because like it gives folks like look, one third's gone, let's wash it away. If you're bad, one third's gone. Boys, we're that's it. We've already one third and we're killing it. Let's keep this rolling, you know, like momentum kind of thing. One more, one more third and then another third, you know. Like, I think I think it's a really good philosophy. So Yeah, I I think the Packers just know that they were a little bumpy in the beginning and they're starting to to get their stride. And the Cowboys are just an inconsistent team, man. They're they fall into that franchise category. They just do. It doesn't matter who they have and all the talent on offense. Their defense is really bad. I feel bad for Quinnen Williams. He got traded from the Jets to there, and he's a stud on their team. He's literally killing it. He's probably only one killing it. But dude, to go there, have all that expectations and then just be on another losing it's it's tough dude. Really tough. speaker-0: That is a tough one. time. no, we have one more. One more. Commanders versus forty niners. this was just look spread with seven and a half. It's prime time. I'm going with the the dog speaker-1: Dog. speaker-0: yeah the dog I mean and it's the again a best team forty niners. Yes. Worst one of the worst teams commanders and you just take the opposite and hold on for dear life. speaker-1: on for dear life, that's it. Yeah. look, Daniels is looking good, man, even though he came back from the injury pretty fast, I'm I'm happy for him. I I want to see him on the field, you know, I think I think a regression was gonna happen early in his career at a certain point, you know, like it's really hard to maintain that just upward trajectory. And if you were watching the game, they actually almost had it at the end. They scored the touchdown and they were like driving again. really? Yeah. Yeah they they were dude they were there. They're close. Yeah, they were close. They were close. But shout out to Fortnite's defense, dude. They're they're playing good, man. They are they are really like that win in Seattle, in Seattle last week. I think it was last week. I was like, dude, they're they're legit. I feel like they're very good. But I feel you like it's really, really hard to keep momentum like that. Falcons next week in Atlanta could be screen and and the line comes out fishy at three and a half. it's it's almost like too many signs at this point. speaker-0: Yeah. Yeah. I ha I have to go with Atlanta on that one. It's just like speaker-1: Don't talk yourself out of it. Let's not talk ourselves out of it. Let's just fucking both pick that out. Pick it right now. speaker-0: but we're at that time of the show where I was this close close. speaker-1: Shout out to Pop, man. speaker-0: Shout out to my guy. And for my moment of week six, it is the Jets and Pats, man. That first one o'clock game loss, man, that was a tough one. They were looking good too and just decided to make a a last minute comeback to cover there. speaker-1: So fucking frustrating. speaker-0: So yeah, 'cause it's just like if my the team's not gonna win, I want that I want that fuck I want that dub in there. So that's my moment. speaker-1: going with the Giants, Giants Saints, man. I thought JJ was pretty electric. The crowd was going crazy towards the end, and I did not expect that at all. And they were really this close to to making that comeback. And then if they did, dude, if they did, New York, New York would have been going nuts. Literally nuts. Like super their first. They're first in their first in their division, Pete. Even Even with that loss, let me look at that up really quick. Let me just make sure. Yeah. speaker-0: That that yeah, th that that's the worst division in football. speaker-1: They're horrible, dude. Eagles two and four, cowboys two and four, commanders one and four, giants three, two and one. My goodness. Unbelievable. Unbelievable. So yeah, those are our I was this close moments. speaker-0: All right, fade bo fade bros segment. Let's talk about last week. Last week we had lock of the week for me, Saints plus one one and a half. And then I had my long shot at Chargers plus eight and a half. So that was a split for me. One-one. Mike, you had Lock of the Week. Browns four and a half. Ding ding ding. Raiders, speaker-1: Go there. speaker-0: long shot, five and a half. Ding ding ding. Come on. speaker-1: And speaker-0: Bringing the season record to a tie here for us. Five and seven five and seven. Let's go. I like it. I like coming back there, dude. I'm let's talk about speaker-1: You were gaining a little lead there for me. I was like damn a little competition between you and I. I I think speaker-0: be a little more pride in these picks dude we need to come prepared here because I just feel like people maybe the fade bros and s segment needs to be you know changed to the lock city bros lock speaker-1: Well slow down. speaker-0: city lock city lock city all right my week seven pick get ready grab them grab your cohortness because I'm going with a Thursday night game. The dog has been winning at a ridiculous clip. The Patriots are good. You had a division game. You have the Bears. Ooh, this is tough because you can see them winning by a field goal. But I'm going three and a half as my lock, not even my long shot. Three and a half minus Bears. speaker-1: Really? speaker-0: Five and three after this game, the four and three Patriots. speaker-1: Damn, bro. That's balls right there. I'll give you that. I'm gonna give you that. I mean, look, I don't hate it. Don't hate it at all. speaker-0: Maybe not the whole slate. speaker-1: We'll we'll see how you feel after we talk to Coinhop and we we figure out our matchups for the squad, right? Yeah, looking forward speaker-0: Yeah, I just I it like now I've it's shifting. It's shifting now. People are starting to pick the d the the favorite. speaker-1: Fight's moved already? speaker-0: No no it's in the pool I'm seeing it's like fifty fifty where they're picking the dog. Like speaker-1: They're sorry now. speaker-0: I I feel like when that shift happens sometimes. Everyone's talking about it too. Everyone's like, Hey, the dog on prime time. I'm like, Yep. Give me the bear. Give me the bear. I want speaker-1: This is this is how it speaker-0: a bear. Okay. And my long shot is the Dolphins plus four and a half against the JTS Jets. speaker-1: You're doing it to me. You're doing it to me, aren't you? I don't speaker-0: But think about it, the O the there's every week, every week there's speaker-1: Play as well, dude. We play horrible against the dolphins. I don't know what if once we're fucking yep. speaker-0: game division. Number two, every single week a defeated team has won a game. Like meaning like a team that a winless team has won a game. So there's only a couple left now. speaker-1: There's only two left. There's only speaker-0: And the dolphins. speaker-1: Which is insane. Insane. speaker-0: So they can win outright, let alone cover the four and a half. It's a division game. I just I I I I I that's my long shot there. I feel like this might be their they they know it in their hearts this might be the only one we can win all year. speaker-1: Yeah. Yep. speaker-0: And all these other stats like you show me with the Jets not scoring the final two minutes, his record overall as a as a head coach speaker-1: Against A C dude it what is it? Is it division opponents? He's literally he has speaker-0: Is it won a game? Yeah, so I I just that that to me is let's see if the Ch the speaker-1: Chargers so crazy. speaker-0: Chargers have a bye this week? Yes they do. speaker-1: They do? they do. Wow. speaker-0: By this week. So you've been automatically and speaker-1: So automatic. Damn, I kinda like your logic there. speaker-0: and then you had the Chiefs. So from the the undefeated teams, you had the Chiefs and you had the San Francisco 49ers. And here we go again. Like I said, the Falcons, they're they're traveling across the country. Mm-hmm. The Falcons at home. They have what we said on paper, I'm like, my God, they're on paper, they're they're really legit. And Ooh, the cherry on the top. Didn't Mike Evans get hurt? speaker-1: He did get hurt fucking pissed. He's in my fantasy. speaker-0: There you go. There you go. speaker-1: I like it Pete. I speaker-0: I speaker-1: like it a lot. speaker-0: that one I like more th that from a locks I'm I'm changing it. I'm changing it. Sorry. My lock is the Falcons plus three and a half. speaker-1: Put it on the sheet, 'cause I don't have the master sheet. You do it. I like it, dude. I like it. I feel like you're you're calculating. speaker-0: I'm doing both but the but the but official is my my official lock of the week will be the Falcons plus three and a half. speaker-1: Beautiful. Beautiful. Beautiful. Beautiful. Okay. all right, bro. I may need your help on on on this. Let's see. Okay, now I think I'm good. I want to go for my long shot of the week is Colts plus six and a half against the Vikings. I think the Vikings are the worst five and team I've seen in a pretty long time. I think their defense is solid, but I just think their offense really isn't that good. I think they keep getting lucky. I'd love to now that I say that out loud, remind me. Let's look back at whatever luck rankings that Chris was talking about. And let's see the Vikings, because I'm sure that they've been getting lucky on the good side for a lot of these games. So cults are coming off a bad loss. they just lost to the Titans. Right. And six and a half is a lot. So to me, I think that this is this is an easy one. I don't think that the Colts are that bad. They still have a lot of firepower. Jonathan Taylor is a beast. I'm going Colts here, six and a half. Plus six and a half. And then for my lock of the week, I was going back and forth on a couple of these and what I really like is the Browns minus one and a half against the Titans. Okay. I think I think this spread is weird. It jumps out to me, but I also think it's that because I know you're supposed to leave it alone, but speaker-0: go the opposite way and just eat it. speaker-1: I just my my thing is like I the the whole, the line's weird or like this team beat this team last week, they got lucky kind of thing. Like I I I think this is just literally Titans just got their first win. They're probably on a high. They're really not a good team. I mean, they're a really, really bad team. And I think the Browns are actually pretty good. And I don't think that they're gonna like just trip on their feet on this one. You know, I I genuinely think that. sure, they're on a high off this last one, but sometimes you're just a better team at the end of the day. And I think a lot of people are gonna get tripped up because they see the Cleveland Browns. Browns are gonna Browns. but I don't think so. I think the story is they end up being five and two. They beat the Titans, and maybe that loss on this high comes off the next week when they play. Let's see who they play. Just so I could justify this pick. The Steelers. speaker-0: Who who's playing Steelers? The Browns are playing. speaker-1: The Browns the the following week, the next week, which is a perfect game 'cause it's perfect for the Steelers to pull out some fucking stupid ass win. I hate that their that their record is actually pretty decent. They're four and two right now, dude. speaker-0: Yeah, and they beat the Saints this week and then the Browns beat the Titans. Now you have a five and two, five and two team going against each other division. I don't I don't dislike I I think the Browns and Titans game might be one of the hardest games to pick because of that psychological F up speaker-1: I like I like the way I felt when I went to that matchup and I'm really starting to think about all these things. I I want to be conscious of you know what we talk about all the time. So yeah, I think I'm gonna go Cleveland there. Hopefully it's not a trap. Can you write that down in the sheet for me? speaker-0: Yeah. So we have longshot Cleveland Browns. speaker-1: No no, that's my lock of week. speaker-0: Your lack week, okay, Browns. And then what's your long shot? speaker-1: Col Colts six and a half. Colts. Against the Vikings. speaker-0: Right. All right, Ma th that that's another week in the books. I speaker-1: This is that's right, man. speaker-0: I'm gonna go on the record that this was one of the best, if not the best, week we've had podcast episode. I think we brought the most value to the listeners. speaker-1: I agree. I agree. Shout out to Chris, man. Well, look, thanks again, everyone.
