- 0:00Chapter 8 from the book of Ezekiel.
- 0:03I'll start with a prayer. Dear God, thank you for giving
- 0:07us this opportunity to discuss and review your word.
- 0:11Please let the Holy Spirit enlighten us and give us wisdom,
- 0:17the application of knowledge that we receive by reading this
- 0:20book in Jesus name. Amen.
- 0:24So chapter 8 actually before we get into chapter 8, I want to
- 0:27talk about something in Chapter 7 because I I saw it, but I
- 0:31didn't comment on it because I couldn't make the correlation.
- 0:36I remembered that Jesus was referred to as Emmanuel.
- 0:41I mean, I would, that was something I was taught.
- 0:43And when I read in Chapter 7, there's you know, Isaiah was
- 0:48speaking to Ahaz and he was saying, therefore the Lord
- 0:51himself will give you a sign the virgin will conceive and give
- 0:55birth to a son and and will call him Emmanuel.
- 1:01So, and then it goes on to say a lot more, but I, that really
- 1:05confused me because I thought somebody, you know, must have
- 1:10misunderstood this because this must have applied to the time,
- 1:15to Isaiah's time. And I, I know that in taught
- 1:19Christianity it refers to Jesus, but when I'm reading it, I'm
- 1:26like, I'm not getting that. I'm not understanding that.
- 1:28And so today I actually searched for Emmanuel to see where it was
- 1:34written in the Bible. And now I understand why
- 1:37Christianity says this was a reference to Jesus because in
- 1:43Matthew chapter one, verse 23, Well, actually let's go to verse
- 1:4822, the one before it. Actually, let's just go, maybe
- 1:54let's read, let's start at 18. OK first, OK, first I will read
- 2:00Matthew 123 and then I'm going to go back so you get it in
- 2:03context. So Matthew 123 for OK, first let
- 2:08me go back to Isaiah Chapter 7 and it's verse 14.
- 2:14Therefore, the Lord himself will give you a sign.
- 2:17The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son and will
- 2:20call him Emmanuel. So this is in the seven hundreds
- 2:23BC that that's written. Now we're going to go to
- 2:26Matthew, which was, gosh, I don't know what year it was.
- 2:32It was like probably the 50s, sixties somewhere in there.
- 2:35I didn't look it up before this. So I'm I'm just guessing.
- 2:38I know John, the last book that was written was around 90, the
- 2:42Book of Revelation. So it was before 90AD.
- 2:46So anyway Matthew in chapter 1 verse 23.
- 2:50Now Matthew is one of the original disciples, the original
- 2:5412 followers that was with Christ during his ministry.
- 2:58So he said in quotation marks, the virgin will conceive and
- 3:06give birth to a son and they will call him Emmanuel, which
- 3:10means God with us. So Matthew is referring to this
- 3:16a prophecy in Isaiah. So let's go back to Matthew
- 3:20verse 18. This is how the birth of Jesus
- 3:24the Messiah came about. His mother Mary was pledged to
- 3:29be married to Joseph, but before they came together she was found
- 3:33to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit.
- 3:36Because Joseph, her husband, was faithful to the law and yet did
- 3:40not want to expose her to public disgrace.
- 3:43He had in mind to divorce her quietly.
- 3:47But after he had considered this, an Angel of the Lord
- 3:51appeared to him in a dream and said, Joseph, son of David, do
- 3:56not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is
- 4:01conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.
- 4:05She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name
- 4:10Jesus, which is the Greek form of Joshua, which means the Lord
- 4:16saves. Just so you know that because he
- 4:20will save his people from their sins, all this took place to
- 4:27fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet.
- 4:30The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son and they
- 4:32will call him Emmanuel, which means God with us.
- 4:36So it's really interesting how the Bible is written because it,
- 4:43the prophecies are given in such a way that, you know, only in
- 4:47hindsight do people realize what has happened, but then they
- 4:50realize that God foretold this through someone and, and it's
- 4:55references tied together here. So Matthew came away with
- 4:59knowing that somehow he, he was, he knew that took place and that
- 5:06applied to Jesus. So I can now understand why
- 5:08Christianity says that verse refers to Jesus.
- 5:13So I because, and again, there's a lot of times in the Bible
- 5:19where it doesn't even expand upon like was somebody named
- 5:23Emmanuel at that time? The text, the rest of the text
- 5:26doesn't even tell you that sometimes there is like a double
- 5:30fulfillment, often called like a foreshadowing of future events.
- 5:35So it may have happened back in Isaiah's time and there could
- 5:39have been a partial, but not a full complete fulfillment of
- 5:43that prophecy. So it's it, you know, prophecy
- 5:48is definitely hard to understand because it's not clearly
- 5:53written. Even the disciples would pull
- 5:55Jesus aside and say, can you explain like parables?
- 5:59He they'd say, can you explain this to us?
- 6:01Because they didn't quite understand everything was kind
- 6:03of talked about in in code language almost to where the
- 6:08enemies of God would not understand it, but those who
- 6:13have the Holy Spirit can understand it.
- 6:16So very interesting thing. So I just wanted to talk about
- 6:20that because it was the prior chapter before we get into
- 6:24chapter 8. So we'll start with chapter 8.
- 6:27Now the Lord said to me, take a large scroll and write on it
- 6:32with an ordinary pen, Meher shalal Hashbaz.
- 6:37So I called Uriah the priest and Zechariah son of Jereba Kya as
- 6:43reliable witnesses for me. So this is really interesting
- 6:47because the Lord's telling him to write this down and then he's
- 6:51bringing 2 witnesses to see him write this down.
- 6:56And so he has the the name and the name actually means this
- 7:01name means quick to the plunder, swift to the spoil, quick to the
- 7:09plunder and swift to the spoil. This is like in in the times of
- 7:13war where someone is quick to go plunder to take items, to take
- 7:20away the spoil in a, in a, in a warfare time.
- 7:24So that's really an interesting name to name a child and
- 7:28especially after that prophecy was given.
- 7:31So again that confused me. So in the but then he, you know,
- 7:36tells he gets to other people. Remember that God uses often 2 *
- 7:422 to three times when he repeats something to establish truth.
- 7:46And so here he has two witnesses to establish truth, the Uriah
- 7:51and Zechariah. So then he continues to say,
- 7:54Then I made love to the prophetess, and she conceived
- 7:57and gave birth to a son. And the Lord said to me, Name
- 8:01him Mahershala Hashbaz. For before the baby knows how to
- 8:07say my father or my mother, the wealth of Damascus and the
- 8:12plunder of Samaria will be carried off by the king of
- 8:17Assyria. So Assyria was a land area that
- 8:23was made-up of partially of, I believe partially of Syria, but
- 8:28Turkey primarily and Iraq and maybe a portion of Iran.
- 8:36So the Lord spoke to me again, because these, these this people
- 8:40has rejected the gently flowing waters of Shiloha and rejoices
- 8:45over Resin. Remember, he's, I believe, the
- 8:47head of Damascus and the son of Ramallah.
- 8:51In fact, I'd better check that because those were the those
- 8:54were the kings that were mentioned in the prior chapters.
- 8:56So yes, so Resin was the king of Syria, who's capital was
- 9:04Damascus, and then Romalia was the king of Israel, the northern
- 9:09kingdoms. So this is actually prophesied,
- 9:12I guess, before the northern Kingdom was taken away by the
- 9:18Assyrians. So anyway, therefore the Lord is
- 9:22about to bring against them the mighty floodwaters of the
- 9:25Euphrates, the floodwaters of the Euphrates.
- 9:29Think about that, the floodwaters of Euphrates.
- 9:31Then he says the king of Assyria with all his pomp.
- 9:35So he's talking about floodwaters in a metaphorical
- 9:37sense. Being the king of Assyria and
- 9:41the king of Assyria is the floodwaters.
- 9:44It will overflow all its channels, run over all its banks
- 9:48and sweep on into Judah, swirling over it, passing
- 9:54through it and reaching up to the neck.
- 9:57It's outspread wings will cover the breath of your land.
- 10:04Emmanuel, Emmanuel, God with us. So this just comes out of
- 10:10nowhere all of a sudden now he's going back.
- 10:12He said, the Lord spoke to me again and he's giving this
- 10:14prophecy about the Assyrians coming into Judah.
- 10:18And then what's so weird is the Assyrians.
- 10:20But he says wings will cover the breath of your land.
- 10:25Emmanuel, God with us. So it's almost like the, the,
- 10:30the, the people at the time, Judah and Israel were always,
- 10:35well, they were confident about God being with them through
- 10:39everything and never letting anything overtake them.
- 10:42But then when I read this today, I was like, wings.
- 10:46Why would he say outspread wings?
- 10:48Well, I guess just sweeping over, but I just thought it was
- 10:50very interesting. And all of a sudden my mind
- 10:53went, now this is just side commentary that happened when
- 10:57I'm reading this wings. I thought about Seraphim and
- 11:02then somehow I was thinking, well, isn't is Seraphim
- 11:05connected to Satan? And so I did a lot of looking
- 11:10into all of this and it's, it's very interesting if you want to
- 11:16go to the blue letter Bible and search in whatever translation
- 11:23you are comfortable with, but search some of these things and
- 11:27look up the the word for that. So anyway, that's what I did was
- 11:35I want to go back to where I started because I it really got
- 11:39me into a lot of different places actually.
- 11:42So I want to go to 1st chapter Isaiah chapter 8 because I
- 11:48didn't save that and click on it so I can see where Isaiah
- 11:55chapter 8 verse 8, that's the place that I was reading.
- 12:00So it's outspread wings. Now you know, we know that's
- 12:05some sort of a metaphor, but then sometimes there is a
- 12:09literal and a metaphorical way of state stating something.
- 12:16So it could be winged, it could be wing, it could be skirt,
- 12:20borders, corners, ends, feathered, miscellaneous, you
- 12:23know, somewhere on the, you know, the outer edges of it.
- 12:26And and so that certainly has a different it's outspread wings,
- 12:34but outspread wings will cover the breath of your land.
- 12:39To me, it that does sound like it does sound like wings.
- 12:42It's been translated as wings. And again, that's where I came
- 12:46up with was that seraphim is Satan never called seraphim.
- 12:51So I looked at Isaiah 6 and verse 2 about Seraphim above
- 12:58him. Were seraphim each with six
- 13:02wings. With two wings they covered
- 13:04their faces, and with two they covered their feet, and with two
- 13:08they were flying. So these are some kind of flying
- 13:11seraphim and so like seraphim or some sort of angels, right?
- 13:17I mean, something like that, I guess.
- 13:18And and then just in chapter 6, verse 6, remember one of the
- 13:23seraphim flew to Isaiah with a live coal in his hand, which he
- 13:28had taken with tongs from the altar.
- 13:30And he touches his mouth to take away, you know, to cleanse him
- 13:34basically. So I'm thinking OK.
- 13:36These are These are. Good, but they're in the
- 13:39presence. Of.
- 13:40God and these are seraphim and so I, I was like, how could you
- 13:45know, was Satan? And I did look it up like just
- 13:49searching, you know, with Satan a seraphim and and there's like
- 13:52a mixed belief that yes, he was, but it the Bible doesn't exactly
- 13:57state that. However, when you start digging
- 14:00deeper into the word. So that drew me to look at what
- 14:05the seraphim. So if we go to Isaiah 6, two
- 14:09seraphim was the first word and it's actually it, it's here's
- 14:15the definition, fiery serpent, fiery seraphim.
- 14:22So the outline of the biblical usage is serpent fiery, serpent
- 14:27poisonous, serpent fiery from burning effect of poison, a
- 14:32seraph or a seraphim, majestic beings with six, six wings,
- 14:36human hands or voices in attendance upon God.
- 14:41So these are this is just really interesting.
- 14:45And then I looked at, you know, it's actually written in the
- 14:48Bible or this, this word, the Hebrew word is syrup is actually
- 14:56in seven times in the Bible. It goes to Numbers 21 verse 6.
- 15:01Then the Lord sent venomous snakes among them.
- 15:04They bit the people and many Israelites died.
- 15:07So that same word that's used for this poisonous serpent is
- 15:11used for this venomous St. snake in Numbers 21, verse 6.
- 15:15In Numbers 21 verse 8, the Lord said to Moses, make a snake and
- 15:20put it up on a pole. Anyone who is bitten can look at
- 15:24it and live. So this.
- 15:26Is. Really interesting and I didn't
- 15:29dive into this tremendously, but again, this was what you know,
- 15:35God told Moses to do this. Now anything that gets hung on a
- 15:40pole. Is cursed.
- 15:42That's somewhere else in Scripture.
- 15:44And so the snake is on the post and it, you know, it's the
- 15:51original one who is being cursed.
- 15:54And then there's a a verse later on that talks about, you know,
- 15:59just as the snake was on the pole that Moses was commanded to
- 16:04do, so Jesus had to be on the pole.
- 16:07To die for our sins. So that's where it says like he
- 16:11had to become the the curse or he broke the curse or he was
- 16:16took on all of the sin to die for us.
- 16:19There's a lot of this mysterious part of the Bible that I really
- 16:23didn't get into a deep study, but I don't know if you're
- 16:26thinking if your thoughts are connecting it.
- 16:28The way my thoughts were was that this is some like fiery
- 16:34serpent and and then Deuteronomy 815 says he led you through the
- 16:39vast and dreadful wilderness, that thirsty and waterless land
- 16:42with its venomous snakes and scorpions.
- 16:45He brought you out of Hard Rock. And then Isaiah 6, two and six
- 16:50six are ones we've read already. Isaiah 1429.
- 16:54It says do not rejoice all you Philistines.
- 16:58Those are the, you know where Gaza is today that rod that
- 17:02struck you is broken from the foot or from the root of that
- 17:08snake will spring up a Viper. Its fruit will be a darting
- 17:15venomous serpent. So there's this is, I think,
- 17:20future Bible prophecy when we get into 14 chapter 14 and then
- 17:27Isaiah 30 verse 6A prophecy coming out of the animals of the
- 17:31Negev through a land of hardship and distress, of lions and
- 17:36lionesses, of adders and darting snakes.
- 17:39The envoys carry their riches on donkeys back their treasures on
- 17:42the humps of Campbell camels to that unprofitable nation and to
- 17:50Egypt whose help is utterly useless.
- 17:54Therefore I call her the Rahab do nothing.
- 17:56So it's, you know, that was referring, referring to Israel
- 18:02going to. Judah to Egypt often to get help
- 18:07when they weren't seeking God. Instead they were seeking Egypt
- 18:10for help. But it was just, I didn't know
- 18:14that a seraphim had anything to do with fire and that it was a
- 18:18fiery serpent. And of course, then it kind of
- 18:21draws that connection with Satan or something.
- 18:25You know, these, these are in God's presence.
- 18:28And so there's a lot of other parts in the the Bible when you
- 18:34read it, like if you go to look at, you know, in the beginning,
- 18:39in the very first book of the Bible in Genesis, when the
- 18:44serpent deceives Eve and gets her to take from the tree of
- 18:51knowledge, then God gives a command against them.
- 18:57He says, So he says, or you know, he has a consequence of
- 19:01this. In Genesis 315, God says, and I
- 19:05will put enmity between you and the woman talking to the serpent
- 19:10and between your offspring and hers.
- 19:14He will crush your head and you will strike his heel.
- 19:19So crushing the head then this is really interesting when you
- 19:23get into crushing the head. So then in Psalm 74 verse 14, it
- 19:29says it was you who crushed the heads of Leviathan and gave it
- 19:34as food to the creatures of the desert.
- 19:37So this is again like future prophecy and about the Lord
- 19:43defeating Leviathan. And so Leviathan is also called
- 19:48the the gliding serpent. So again, there's like this
- 19:53connection to all these things which I just find very
- 19:56interesting. So in Isaiah 14 in verse 12 it
- 20:03says this is referring to again. Satan, how you have fallen from
- 20:11heaven. Morning Star, son of the Dawn,
- 20:14you have been cast down to earth, You who once laid low the
- 20:20nations. And then in verse 19 it says,
- 20:26but you are cast out of your tomb like a rejected branch.
- 20:30You, you are covered with the slain, with those pierced by the
- 20:34sword, those who descend to the stones of the pit like a corpse
- 20:38trampled under foot. So this is, and then there's
- 20:44actually another one, verse 26 that says this is the plan
- 20:49determined for the whole world. This is the hand stretched out
- 20:54over all nations. That's Isaiah chapter 14.
- 20:59So it's referring to the whole world.
- 21:02And so I believe this is an end time.
- 21:05And again, I believe that Satan's behind all of this and
- 21:10it's, you know, his this is just supporting that that Satan is
- 21:13the enemy of God. He's seeking to destroy and he
- 21:18all of these things when you start searching them, it's
- 21:22either him or one of the other fallen angels that are doing
- 21:26these things. But it's interesting, like I
- 21:28said, that it's outspread wings will cover the breaths of the
- 21:31land. And it's also talked about as
- 21:34Assyria, the Lords instrument. So again, God is in control of
- 21:39this and somehow Satan is connected to the land of
- 21:44Assyria. And it even gets deeper the more
- 21:47you start diving into scripture. I mean, I got into like Babylon
- 21:52and everything. I mean it just.
- 21:55And then you get into Lebanon too.
- 21:58So there is, you know, is, is that going back to Genesis
- 22:03chapter 3, verse 15? And I will put M&T between you
- 22:07and the woman, between your offspring, your offspring or
- 22:11your seed and hers. So are these enemies of Israel
- 22:17actually the seed of Satan? It's offspring of Satan.
- 22:25And you know, could that be a literal or maybe more of a
- 22:30metaphorical way of saying it? Somebody whose thoughts and
- 22:33hearts are turned towards evil, somebody who is influenced by
- 22:39Satan, they don't have the Holy Spirit of God residing in them.
- 22:43So therefore they are doing the will of Satan, who is their
- 22:46Lord, as opposed to the true Lord, the God of all the
- 22:51creation. And they don't have the Holy
- 22:54Spirit. So because they don't have the
- 22:56Holy Spirit, they are doing, they are, you know, under the
- 22:59influence of Satan. So anyway, it was just, that was
- 23:03a very long. There's actually even more
- 23:06that's kind of interesting too. In Genesis chapter 49 verse 10,
- 23:13it says the scepter will not depart from Judah, nor the
- 23:17ruler's staff from between his feet, until he to whom it
- 23:22belongs shall come, and the obedience of the nations shall
- 23:26be his. Now this is talking about Jesus
- 23:29and especially when you read the very next sentence in this
- 23:33chapter, Genesis chapter 49 verse 10.
- 23:38Then when you read 11, it says he will tether his donkey to a
- 23:41vine, his colt to the choicest branch.
- 23:44He will wash his garments and wine his robes in the blood of
- 23:48grapes. This might be very confusing to
- 23:51people, but Jesus came into Jerusalem and rode A tethered
- 23:58donkey. He took the colt, his colt to
- 24:01the choicest branch. So these are things that Jesus
- 24:04did. He will wash his garments in
- 24:06wine. It there is other future
- 24:10prophecy that says something like where?
- 24:12Where have you come from? Lord?
- 24:13Your, your robe is stained red, Crimson red or something to that
- 24:17effect. And he was fighting a battle all
- 24:21on his own. And he came from Basra, I think
- 24:26is where it says that he came from there and his and then
- 24:30again, who is the one who tramples the wine press?
- 24:34So his robes in the blood of grapes.
- 24:37That's again Jesus bringing about judgement when he returns
- 24:42that he tramples the wine press. So this is all the way you know,
- 24:46God tells the story from the end story from the very beginning.
- 24:52So the very first book, Genesis chapter 49 verses 10 and 11 are
- 24:59talking about Jesus. So and and it's giving, you
- 25:04know, the the outcome of what is going to happen in the end.
- 25:10So let's see, I don't know if there's Oh, and then in verse
- 25:1417, this is interesting because this is like what Jacob is
- 25:20telling his not Jacob. I yeah, Jacob blesses his sons,
- 25:27correct. OK, I get names mixed up
- 25:29sometimes. So Jacob is blessing his sons
- 25:33and he says that Dan, the tribe of Dan or his son, you know,
- 25:38Dan, will provide justice for his people as one of the tribes
- 25:42of Israel. Dan will be a snake by the
- 25:46roadside, a Viper along the path that bites the horse's heels so
- 25:53that it's rider stumbles backward.
- 25:57So I don't that one's a hard 1. I don't quite have that
- 26:01understanding. But Dan being compared to a
- 26:03snake is not a good thing. And I also noticed that in the
- 26:07Book of Revelation, the tribe of Dan is missing from the 144,000.
- 26:13There's 12,000 from each tribe except for Ephraim and Dan.
- 26:18They are not mentioned and so their names are not in there.
- 26:22And Ephraim is the one who turned away and allied with
- 26:26Assyria. So and they got into all the
- 26:30idolatry and the bail worship. And if you really deep dive into
- 26:34who is Bail or Bell or you just you start looking in Scripture
- 26:401st and then see these different connections or Mammon or you
- 26:44know, there's a lot of different names, but you find out that
- 26:49they all kind of there's an article if you keep looking that
- 26:52ties all of them together. Like they may be known by
- 26:56different names, but they all refer to the same being.
- 27:00And I believe they refer to Satan and may perhaps his fallen
- 27:05angels. I mean, he did take a third of
- 27:08the stars. That's what the Book of
- 27:10Revelation says. The stars are representations of
- 27:12angels. He took a third of them down to
- 27:15earth with him from the heavenly realms.
- 27:20And so there is, you know, a number of, you know, maybe those
- 27:25are the Satan's offspring, the serpent's offspring, or all of
- 27:29those who banded with him from the heavenly.
- 27:32They left the presence of God and then decided to come to
- 27:35earth and do certain things. So that's all told in the the
- 27:42book of Enoch, which is not part of the Bible, but does kind of
- 27:46expand upon that concept. So anyway, it's it again, this
- 27:52just it was kind of eye opening. So these these, these will
- 27:58probably be human beings that will do these things, but they
- 28:02will be under the slavery of Satan.
- 28:06They will have the spirit of Satan.
- 28:09Maybe they will be possessed by Satan.
- 28:11I don't know. But this is something that the
- 28:14Lord spoke to Isaiah 700 BC. Let me read it again.
- 28:19This was a prophecy. The Lord spoke to me again
- 28:22because this people has rejected the gently flowing waters of
- 28:28Shiloa and rejoices over resin. He was the king of, of, of Aram,
- 28:38which is modern day Syria and the son of Ramallah.
- 28:42Now he was the king of Israel and sometimes the king of
- 28:46Israel. That area was Ephraim was the
- 28:49kind of like the, the major city during that time.
- 28:52So Ephraim, that name is used because Ephraim led the
- 28:56Israelites into idolatry, worshipping Bale and you know,
- 29:00child sacrifices and all those kinds of things.
- 29:03So and it so it says, because these people has rejected the
- 29:06gently flowing waters of Shiloh and rejoices over resin and the
- 29:09son of Ramallah. Therefore the Lord is about to
- 29:12bring against them the mighty floodwaters of the Euphrates,
- 29:16the king of Assyria with all his pomp.
- 29:21So maybe that's just the old, the whole alliance because that
- 29:24land covered lots of different areas, like we were saying, like
- 29:27Turkey, Syria, Iraq and Iran. So those were all kind of like
- 29:33part of that land of Assyria. Pay attention to what's going on
- 29:37in the Middle East right now. In fact, today is the 16th of
- 29:41July, 2025, and Israel is in a big time battle in Syria right
- 29:48now. And Damascus has been hit
- 29:51several times and there is fighting between the different
- 29:55factions of the people that are there.
- 29:59And there's a lot of conflict going on.
- 30:02And people who watch for biblical end times, prophet,
- 30:08prophetic events happening in the Middle East.
- 30:11There is something, I forgot what chapter it is in Isaiah
- 30:14also, that says Damascus will no longer be a city.
- 30:18So at some point in the future, we don't know if it's now, but
- 30:21there's a battle definitely happening in Damascus.
- 30:24Is that happening now? Is that fulfilling Bible
- 30:28prophecy or will it stop? And not completely?
- 30:32The Bible says it will no longer be a city.
- 30:34There'll be nobody living there. So that hasn't happened yet.
- 30:38That's Damascus is still a city. So again, Isaiah 700 ish BC said
- 30:46this was going to happen. And today, in 2025, it hasn't
- 30:51yet happened, but there's something happening today there.
- 30:56In fact, it started last night. And it's kind of ironic that I
- 30:59just happen to be on this chapter and talking about these
- 31:01things. I think so.
- 31:05It will overflow its channels, run over all its banks and sweep
- 31:08into Judah, swirling over it, passing through it and reaching
- 31:12up to the neck. It's outspread wings will cover
- 31:15the breath of your land. Emmanuel, raise the war.
- 31:19Cry you nations, and be shattered.
- 31:22Listen, all you distant lands, prepare for battle and be
- 31:26shattered. Prepare for battle and be
- 31:30shattered. Devise your strategy, but it
- 31:33will be thwarted. Propose your plan, but it will
- 31:37not stand for God is with us. That's interesting because even
- 31:45though God is calling for he's, he's bringing this judgement.
- 31:51He's letting this happen because they were too concerned about
- 31:58their, you know, the I guess they rejected, they rejected
- 32:04God. And so he's calling these
- 32:08nations to be his instrument. So but letting them have their
- 32:12free will, they want to do this anyway.
- 32:14So God's going to let them because Israel turned away from
- 32:19God. And but he's also saying to
- 32:23them, you're not going to be successful in this.
- 32:25You're going to come against Israel, but you're not going to
- 32:28be successful for with this because God, because of God,
- 32:33only because of God. This is what the Lord says to me
- 32:37with His strong hand upon me, warning me not to follow the way
- 32:42of this. People.
- 32:44Do not call conspiracy everything this people calls a
- 32:49conspiracy or a secret plan to harm.
- 32:52Do not fear what they fear and do not dread it.
- 32:56The Lord Almighty is the one you are to regard as holy.
- 33:00He is the one you are to fear. He is the one you are to dread.
- 33:07He will be a holy place for both Israel and Judah.
- 33:15He will be a stone that causes people to stumble and a rock
- 33:20that makes them fall. I, I need to, I don't know.
- 33:25There's a, there's a lot right there.
- 33:27And I just, I might, I might read through this and come back
- 33:33to that statement, though. A stone that causes people to
- 33:36stumble and a rock that makes them fall.
- 33:38We're going to talk about that. And for the people of Jerusalem,
- 33:41he will be a trap and a snare. Many of them will stumble.
- 33:46They will fall and be broken. They will be snared and
- 33:50captured. Bind up this testimony of
- 33:53warning and seal up God's instruction among my disciples.
- 34:01I will wait for the Lord who is hiding His face from the
- 34:05descendants of Jacob. I will put my trust in Him.
- 34:10So again, we always trust God. Here am I and the children the
- 34:17Lord has given me. We are signs and symbols in
- 34:20Israel from the Lord Almighty who dwells on Mount Zion.
- 34:26When someone tells you to consult mediums and spiritists
- 34:30who whisper and mutter, should not a people inquire of their
- 34:36God? Again, why do people go?
- 34:39Why do people use astrology? Why do people go to mediums?
- 34:43Why do people go to tarot cards? All those kinds of things.
- 34:46Those are opening yourself up to evil spiritual realm.
- 34:51Why do you just not go to God who is the creator of all?
- 34:55Don't you think God can answer that question?
- 34:58Of course, that's all my commentary, so I'll go back to
- 35:00scripture. When someone tells you to
- 35:02consult medians and spiritists who whisper and mutter, should
- 35:05not a people inquire of their God?
- 35:08Why consult the dead on behalf of the living?
- 35:12That's the other thing is you have to be careful because it
- 35:15there is something in Scripture that says that you know dead
- 35:17people do not communicate with people here.
- 35:20So if that happens, there is a within Scripture, it says that
- 35:28Satan can appear as an Angel of light.
- 35:30He can appear as something good. So again, his his strategy is
- 35:36deception and he can often reach people because of someone they
- 35:44really desperately want to communicate with who is dead.
- 35:47I mean, remember when Samuel or Saul went to the medium and
- 35:54called up Samuel? Saul called up Samuel through
- 35:58this medium. Now he was not supposed to do
- 36:00that. Someone did appear, and I don't
- 36:04know if it really I don't know. I mean, it's we.
- 36:08I guess we'll only know by God when he answers that, like did
- 36:12he actually come about or was that something evil that came
- 36:16forth presenting himself like Saul?
- 36:20That's kind of what I think happened perhaps.
- 36:22But I also think that Saul, that he looked like Samuel.
- 36:27I don't know if I said that right or if I got the names
- 36:29mixed up, but Saul was doing something wrong again, that he
- 36:35knew better. He knew he wasn't supposed to do
- 36:37this. In fact, even the the Witcher,
- 36:40the spirit medium or whatever of Endora, I think is what her name
- 36:43Endora, Endora, something like that, or Endor.
- 36:47And she was, she realized that who he was because he had banned
- 36:53all of them. And she was, I guess, fearful of
- 36:55who he was and that he was actually getting her to do
- 36:58something she wasn't supposed to do because they were still doing
- 37:01this. So consulting the dead.
- 37:03But that's something that in today's world, don't go to
- 37:06psychics, don't go to mediums, don't go to spiritist, don't go
- 37:09to and people that read tarot cards, don't do astrology.
- 37:13All those things because you are consulting with evil, call on
- 37:19God, pray to God, ask God. You know God's the creator.
- 37:23Why go to something that is under the authority of God that
- 37:26God forbids us to do? Why not go directly to the top
- 37:30and ask God about it? So verse 20, consult God's
- 37:35instruction and the testimony of warning.
- 37:38If anyone does not speak according to this word, they
- 37:41have no light of dawn. Distressed and hungry, they will
- 37:44roam the land. When they are famished, they
- 37:47will become enraged, and looking upward will curse their king and
- 37:51their God. Then they will look toward the
- 37:54earth and see only distress and darkness and fearful gloom, and
- 37:59they will be thrust into utter darkness.
- 38:03So there's there's nothing good that's going to come from
- 38:06seeking anyone other than God. So that's the end of chapter 8.
- 38:12I'm going to read the questions and answers and then I also want
- 38:14to get. Back to that stone in the rock,
- 38:16Because there are. I could just.
- 38:18List all of them, or we could read them too.
- 38:21I may read them. So first let's see.
- 38:24Go through the questions and answers.
- 38:26Who was the prophetess Isaiah's wife?
- 38:28She was probably called a prophetess because she was
- 38:31married to a prophet, or perhaps because as the one who bore
- 38:35children with prophetic names, she became involved in the
- 38:39communication of the message of God.
- 38:41Some identify her as a young woman who would become the
- 38:44mother of Emmanuel. If so, Emmanuel and Maher Shala
- 38:49Hashbaz were two different names for the same child.
- 38:54Who knows about that? I don't know why give a name
- 38:58like this to a child. To the Israelites, names were
- 39:01often connected with special characteristics or events, and
- 39:04were sometimes even prophetic. In this case, God intended the
- 39:08child's name to signal the coming Assyrian conquest of
- 39:13Aram, which is Damascus, and Israel, Samaria, Samaria.
- 39:17That was their capitals. This would begin to be fulfilled
- 39:22before the boy even learned to speak at about age 2.
- 39:26The time period appears to be the same as that in 716.
- 39:33In Chapter 7 verse 16. This symbolic name meant that A
- 39:37has enemies would be plundered, but it also implied that Judah
- 39:41would suffer. Why should we fear God?
- 39:44Remember it says fear the one, fear the Lord.
- 39:48Let's see, the Lord Almighty is the one you are to regard as
- 39:50holy. He is the one you are to fear.
- 39:53He is the one you are to dread. So why should we fear God.
- 39:57The background of this passage was the threat to the southern
- 40:01Kingdom of Judah presented by King Pika of the northern
- 40:05Kingdom of Israel and his alley king Risen of Arum through.
- 40:11Isaiah the Lord warned Judah not to turn to Assyria to calm their
- 40:17fears. Rather than fearing or dreading
- 40:20Israel and Arum, the people should fear the Lord.
- 40:24Isaiah then used 2 analogies to picture the coming judgement on
- 40:28both houses or kingdoms of Israel.
- 40:30God was often described as a rock in Deuteronomy chapter 32,
- 40:36verses 415 and 18, normally with the implications of shelter and
- 40:41refuge. Here the prophet turned his
- 40:44family figure against the people, God the rock for his
- 40:47people who trust him, but he is against those who refuse to
- 40:52believe. Isaiah had already pictured
- 40:56people under the divine hand of judgment having to become
- 40:59hunters again. Here he spoke of God as the
- 41:02hunter who uses bird snares and spring traps as foils for his
- 41:06victims. We too should fear God rather
- 41:10than people. God enacts His judgment on the
- 41:13basis of His Holiness and I'm I'm this His omnipotent point of
- 41:21view. Thus, as standards and knowledge
- 41:24of sinners individually are collectively are infallible, as
- 41:28Abraham said, will not the judge of all the earth do right?
- 41:32So God is always doing right. So when judgement is pronounced,
- 41:36it is for the right reasons. When it's judgement against
- 41:41someone, God has he's just and he's holy and all of that and
- 41:45and it's, you know, for us to we're not in God's shoes.
- 41:48We don't see what God sees. We are not everywhere as God is
- 41:53everywhere and God can under can see all the things that are
- 41:57happening. So if we see judgement against
- 42:00someone and we think, oh, that wasn't right, We don't know
- 42:03everything. We truly don't know everything.
- 42:06What I found in scripture is that sometimes it's judgement
- 42:09and sometimes it's testing. It's testing person.
- 42:13So a person could also be righteous, but then be tested by
- 42:16God. He'll allow a certain degree of
- 42:18testing, but not a complete capturing of their soul, if you
- 42:25want to call it that. So what was Shiloha?
- 42:29This was a slow moving stream that flowed from the spring of
- 42:32Geehan in Jerusalem. It was a sharp contrast to the
- 42:35mighty flood waters of the Euphrates which flowed through
- 42:39Assyria. Shailua represented God's supply
- 42:44and protection for His people, which Judah rejected, choosing
- 42:47said to seek help from Assyria. Though they would rejoice over
- 42:51the downfall of King Resin of Aram and King Pika, the son of
- 42:56Ramallah of Israel, both of whom died in 732, they would nearly
- 43:01be drowned by the surging armies of Assyria.
- 43:05Why would God side with Judah's enemies?
- 43:07He had given the people of Judah their chance, but they had
- 43:10refused to put their trust in Him.
- 43:12To punish His people, He would permit Assyria to sweep into
- 43:15Judah, reaching up to the neck. This would be fulfilled in seven
- 43:20O 1 BC, when Senate Cherub's invasion overwhelmed all the
- 43:26cities of Judah except Jerusalem, Judah's head.
- 43:31Why the dramatic shift from uttered feet to victory?
- 43:34Assyria wouldn't sweep over into her own land, but to the land of
- 43:40Emmanuel that prompted Isaiah's powerful poetic lines in verses
- 43:459 through 10. All seems lost, but God is with
- 43:50us and defeats the enemy. Just as Arum and Israel would be
- 43:55shattered, so Assyria would eventually.
- 43:58Fall. Why is God referred to as a
- 44:00stumbling stone, a trap, and a snare?
- 44:03These are images of God's coming judgment on Judah and Israel,
- 44:08both of whom would be subjected to the destructive military
- 44:12might of the Assyrians. There's a little bit more to it
- 44:16too, and that's what I was going to read about.
- 44:19So why was God's instruction sealed something?
- 44:22God's instruction refers to the large scroll on which the
- 44:26prophecies of the coming Assyrian invasion were written.
- 44:29If so, this was God's way of preserving the pronouncement of
- 44:32judgement that a has had refused to hear.
- 44:35Later, when it was fulfilled, it would prove that God had been
- 44:39behind both the prophecy and the judgement.
- 44:42How were Isaiah and his children's signs and symbols?
- 44:45Isaiah and his children were living testimonies to God's
- 44:48workings with His people. The meanings of His children's
- 44:51names constantly put God's plan before the people.
- 44:55Isaiah later became a sign to the nation with his object
- 44:58lesson behavior. What were mediums and
- 45:02spiritists? These were people through whom
- 45:04the spirit of a dead person was believed to communicate with the
- 45:07living. Consulting them was widespread
- 45:10practice among Israel's neighbors and was a constant
- 45:13temptation for the Israelites, especially when they were under
- 45:17the judgement of God, even though they were strictly
- 45:20forbidden to do so in Leviticus chapter 19 verse 31, chapter 20,
- 45:25verse 6, and Deuteronomy chapter 18, verses 9 through 13.
- 45:30Isaiah pointed out the foolishness of consulting the
- 45:34dead when they could consult the living God.
- 45:38How would God honor? OK, that's the end of chapter 8.
- 45:44So when I was reading this again, it says a stone that
- 45:49causes people to stumble and a rock that makes them fail, them
- 45:54fall. And so when I read that
- 45:57immediately, I don't know if you thought this too, but I thought
- 46:01of Jesus, Jesus so often. And I have 12345678910111213.
- 46:17Yeah, I think it's 13 and there there might be 14/15/16.
- 46:24I'm not sure if I think, yeah, maybe 16 different references to
- 46:31Jesus. OK, so again, let's go back to
- 46:37Chapter 8. And this is within verse 14, a
- 46:42part of the sentence. He will be a holy place for both
- 46:44Israel and Judah. He will be a stone that causes
- 46:48people to stumble and a rock that makes them fall.
- 46:53This is talking about Jesus and again in the seven hundreds BC.
- 46:58So let's go first to Psalm 118 and this is in verse 22.
- 47:13The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.
- 47:18So you might as well just read the whole Psalm 118 if you don't
- 47:23believe it, because this is about Jesus.
- 47:25It says I will give you thanks for you answered me.
- 47:28You have become my salvation. The Lord has done this in its
- 47:31marvelous eyes. So I mean, the stone the
- 47:34builders rejected has become the cornerstone.
- 47:37That's Jesus. Then if we go to Isaiah, let's
- 47:43see cornerstone, maybe if I just look that up, that might come up
- 47:49where I can see all of these verses.
- 47:55OK, so Isaiah 2816, so this is what the sovereign Lord says.
- 48:01See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone stone.
- 48:06Remember how Jesus was tested in the wilderness?
- 48:09A precious cornerstone for a sure foundation.
- 48:13The one who relies on it will never be stricken with panic.
- 48:18That's that peace without understanding.
- 48:22Then we also have, let's see, Zechariah chapter 10, verse 4.
- 48:32From Judah will come the cornerstone from him, the tent
- 48:38peg, from him, the battle bow, from him every ruler it's
- 48:43talking about God. Jesus was a descendant from the
- 48:47tribe of Judah and all these other things describe him.
- 48:52The tent peg, the battle bow. Every ruler comes from him.
- 48:58He sets kings, He places them and takes them away.
- 49:03Then we have Matthew chapter 21 verse 42.
- 49:07Jesus said to them, have you never read in the scriptures the
- 49:12stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.
- 49:17The Lord has done this and it is marvelous in our eyes.
- 49:21So in Matthew 21 verse 42, it it is part of the parable that
- 49:30Jesus tell talks about and he talks about him being the son of
- 49:36the vineyard owner and how they would they would kill him.
- 49:40He prophesizes about his his death and it says, you know,
- 49:49anyone who falls on the stone will be broken to pieces.
- 49:51Anyone who whom on whom it falls will be crushed.
- 49:56So it's he was giving a warning to them because they weren't
- 50:03believing that Jesus who he was. And he was like, have you never
- 50:07read this in scriptures? And then we have in Mark chapter
- 50:1112, verse 10. Haven't you read the passage of
- 50:13the Scripture? The stone the builders rejected
- 50:15has become the cornerstone. And he says in Luke it was
- 50:20documented, chapter 20, verse 17, Jesus looked directly at
- 50:24them and asked what's the meaning of that which is
- 50:26written? The stone the builders rejected
- 50:28has become the cornerstone and then in Acts in the book of Acts
- 50:34chapter 4 verse 11, it states very clearly Jesus is the stone
- 50:41you builders rejected which has become the cornerstone.
- 50:47So that should take away any question that what is that Jesus
- 50:52be is the cornerstone. And then Ephesians 220 built on
- 50:57the foundation of the apostles and prophets with Christ Jesus
- 51:01himself as the chief cornerstone.
- 51:05And first Peter 264 in Scripture it says, see I lay a stone in
- 51:10Zion, a chosen and precious cornerstone, and the one who
- 51:13trusts in him will never be put to shame.
- 51:17And then we have in in first Peter chapter 2 verse 7.
- 51:21Now to you who believe this stone is precious, but to those
- 51:26who do not believe the stone the builders rejected has become the
- 51:30cornerstone and a stone that causes people to stumble and a
- 51:38rock that makes them fall. They stumble because they
- 51:41disobey the message, which is also what they were destined
- 51:46for. So if you don't believe, that's
- 51:49where your destination is. If you if you don't believe that
- 51:54Jesus is this cornerstone, it it's very clear within the
- 51:57Bible. And then I think I wrote down
- 52:00something else like another verse that I found in here about
- 52:04Jesus being the cornerstone. Daniel 244 Listen to this in the
- 52:13time of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a Kingdom
- 52:18that will never be destroyed. That's the Millennium reign of
- 52:21Christ. Nor will it be left to another
- 52:23people. OK, it will crush all those
- 52:27kingdoms and bring them to an end, but it will itself endure
- 52:33forever. And then in Daniel 245 it says
- 52:40this is the meaning of the vision of the rock cut out of
- 52:43the mountain. But not by human hands, no, by
- 52:46God, by the Holy Spirit. A rock that broke the iron, the
- 52:51bronze, the clay, the silver and the gold to pieces.
- 52:55The great God has shown the the king what will take place in the
- 53:01future. The dream is true and its
- 53:04interpretation is trustworthy. So just, you know, as this, the
- 53:11stream that he had, I mean, it would be crushed eventually by
- 53:14God, just like remember it crushed in Genesis 315.
- 53:19I will put enmity between you and the woman and between your
- 53:22offspring and hers. He will crush your head and you
- 53:25will strike His heel. So that is another verse in
- 53:33Romans 1111. That was another verse I wrote
- 53:36down. There's just see, there's just
- 53:40so much in here that OK, I don't know why I wrote that one, so
- 53:47I'll read it again. I asked, did they stumble so far
- 53:50as to fall beyond recovery? Not at all.
- 53:53Rather, because of their transgression, salvation has
- 53:56come to the Gentiles to make Israel envious.
- 54:00So Israel stumbles because they don't believe Jesus.
- 54:04So Jews do not believe unless they're a Messianic Jew, they do
- 54:07not believe that Jesus is the Son of God.
- 54:11And so it says, did they stumble as far, so far to fall beyond
- 54:17recovery? And it says not at all.
- 54:19But the blessing that comes from it is that, you know, Israel was
- 54:24the chosen nation. But here it it says because of
- 54:28their transgression, because they didn't believe salvation
- 54:31has come to the Gentiles to make Israel envious.
- 54:38So thankfully the people who are not directly Israeli are given
- 54:46the opportunity to be in God's Kingdom.
- 54:49And he said that you know these these people later on if you
- 54:54want to read Romans Chapter 11, these people are are grafted in
- 55:01just like you know it says for if God did not spare the natural
- 55:05branches, he will not spare you either.
- 55:07So it they were broken off because of unbelief.
- 55:12So but then he graphs in other branches, which are the
- 55:15Gentiles. So this this whole chapter talks
- 55:18about that. So again, God came for all
- 55:21nations. Jesus came for all nations.
- 55:23He's a savior for all nations. And then I have written down
- 55:28first Peter 2 verse 8. I don't know how I found all
- 55:31these, but I was obviously looking for a while First Peter
- 55:362 verse 8 and OK, it says and a stone that causes people to
- 55:42stumble and a rock that makes them fall.
- 55:44They stumbled because they disobey the message, which is
- 55:47also what they were destined for.
- 55:49So we did read that and then first John 2 Chip first John.
- 55:57I'm looking this up two verse 10.
- 56:02Anyone who loves their Anyone who loves their brother and
- 56:07sister lives in the light, and there's nothing in them to make
- 56:10them stumble. So again, if you love your
- 56:16brother and sister, you live in the light.
- 56:18Brother and sister could be metaphorical to talk about other
- 56:22people in the world, and there's nothing to make them stumble.
- 56:26Again, this is like the stumble like if the love of God is
- 56:30within someone, if they're loving their other people of the
- 56:35world, if they love other people of the world and they want to
- 56:38bring them into the Kingdom of God by giving them the knowledge
- 56:44of what is in the Bible, it's up to them to make the decision.
- 56:48But this is what what God does promise that it he's, you know,
- 56:54going to it'll his house will be a House of all nations.
- 56:57That's what it says. So it means that more people
- 57:01beyond the Jewish people do get to be in God's Kingdom, which is
- 57:08really good, but you have to come to a saving knowledge,
- 57:13wisdom, actually the application of knowledge.
- 57:15So in Daniel chapter 8, I don't know what I wrote about that 9
- 57:24or maybe it's 9/24 9 because that didn't seem to apply when I
- 57:30looked at it. I don't know where I because I
- 57:41have Daniel 924 and Revelation 10/4.
- 57:44So 70 sevens are decreed for your people in your city to
- 57:47finish transgression, to put an end to sin, to atone for
- 57:50wickedness, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to
- 57:53seal up vision and prophecy, and to anoint the holy place.
- 57:57Well, that is when Jesus will finally return to finish up the
- 58:02sin and sin. And then Revelation 10, verse 4.
- 58:08So I don't know why I wrote these down, if they were
- 58:11relevant to relevant to another verse or what, but I wrote it
- 58:15down. And so I'm looking them up
- 58:17because I don't have all of these things memorized.
- 58:20But I wrote down Revelation 10, verse 4.
- 58:22So we'll read that and that's going to be the last verse.
- 58:25But Jesus is definitely the cornerstone.
- 58:29Oh, I guess maybe it was when God talks about sealing up, bind
- 58:34up this testimony of warning and seal up God's instructions.
- 58:37So that was the same thing. That's right.
- 58:39That's why I said that in Daniel because that's what God said
- 58:42about Daniel. Seal up the scroll for this is a
- 58:44time in the very in the future. That would be in chapter 8,
- 58:49verse 26 and then 924 where these things are sealed up until
- 58:55the end times. And he gives a time frame of
- 58:57when that will be the very end like the last days.
- 59:00So in Revelation chapter 10 verse 4, and when the thunders
- 59:04spoke, I was about to write, but I heard a voice from heaven say
- 59:09seal up what the seven thunders have said and do not write it
- 59:14down. So there is something that still
- 59:19we do not have. We do not know what what that
- 59:25is. And yeah, there's like a mystery
- 59:31of what will unfold. And it says that in Revelation
- 59:3910 verse 7, it says, but in the days when the 7th Angel is about
- 59:43to sound his trumpet, the mystery of God will be
- 59:48accomplished just as he announced to his servants the
- 59:52prophets. So very interesting chapter,
- 59:57chapter 8, lots of references to Jesus once again from 700 BC, so
- 1:00:04almost 3000 years ago. So I hope you come back and join
