- 1:46Speaker 4: the poetry, the spoken word that we get. I'm excited

- 2:02Speaker 2: Scott kleen King in the house was up.
- 2:07Speaker 4: Oh I'm sorry, said queen, but I'm gonna ask you
- 2:11Speaker 4: about that.
- 2:11Speaker 2: But oh man, so how you doing this?
- 2:19Speaker 5: I'm doing great. I'm blessed.
- 2:21Speaker 6: I'm really grateful to finally connect and to get on
- 2:26Speaker 6: here and just to chop it up with you and
- 2:28Speaker 6: your audiences and honor.
- 2:31Speaker 2: Well, we're honor, we thank you, We're thankful. To have
- 2:34Speaker 2: you on here.
- 2:36Speaker 4: You have been able to do some amazing things, and
- 2:38Speaker 4: we're just humble that you decided to spend some time
- 2:42Speaker 4: with us today.
- 2:44Speaker 2: So, man, it's a lot to unpack.
- 2:46Speaker 4: So I really I want to dive into it and
- 2:50Speaker 4: introduce you to our people out here in Vegas.
- 2:53Speaker 2: You know what I mean. We talked about it a little.
- 2:55Speaker 4: Bit, but we'll touch about it in a few minutes
- 2:57Speaker 4: your trip out here in Vegas for a little bit.
- 3:01Speaker 2: But first I want to ask you how did you
- 3:03Speaker 2: come about your name?
- 3:04Speaker 4: Because I wanted to call you queen, but your name
- 3:07Speaker 4: is actually king, So how did that happen?
- 3:11Speaker 1: Right?
- 3:11Speaker 6: So, some of my friends actually call me queen King,
- 3:14Speaker 6: so you must have you must have detected that by
- 3:18Speaker 6: the spirit. So I am ty Scott. My maiden name
- 3:22Speaker 6: is Scott, and for many years, anybody who knew me
- 3:26Speaker 6: up until twenty thirteen called me miss ty Scott.
- 3:30Speaker 5: And then I got married.
- 3:32Speaker 6: My husband's last name is King, so I dropped the
- 3:34Speaker 6: miss and proceeded on as Ty Scott King. And whenever
- 3:39Speaker 6: I say my name, I'm like like Corretta. Just think
- 3:42Speaker 6: about Corretta and you'll remember Ty Scott King.
- 3:46Speaker 2: Oh, man, I love it. I love it?
- 3:47Speaker 4: Okay, all right, man, that was cool because a lot
- 3:52Speaker 4: of people are probably curious, like, how did she come
- 3:55Speaker 4: up with that name? It stands out and it's powerful.
- 4:00Speaker 6: I tell you, Thank the Lord and my husband, I know, an.
- 4:07Speaker 4: Awesome combination there. Yeah, oh man, that's cool. Well how
- 4:15Speaker 4: was your journey? I mean, you are spoken word artists
- 4:18Speaker 4: and you're also a gospel rapper.
- 4:21Speaker 2: Very talented, very talented.
- 4:23Speaker 4: You've been on some big stages and everything, and you
- 4:27Speaker 4: probably could have gone anywhere with your gifts. What made
- 4:31Speaker 4: you decide to mix your faith with it? What made
- 4:34Speaker 4: you decide to do this for the King of kings?
- 4:39Speaker 5: Yeah? Great question. So thankfully I knew I had I
- 4:46Speaker 5: don't know, let me stop one. When I was eight.
- 4:49Speaker 5: That's when I started writing. Most people who know me
- 4:52Speaker 5: know that.
- 4:52Speaker 6: And I was about to say I knew I had
- 4:55Speaker 6: this gift, but I really didn't know that it was
- 4:59Speaker 6: a gift.
- 5:00Speaker 7: For some reason. I thought everybody was writing poetry in
- 5:03Speaker 7: their room at eight.
- 5:05Speaker 6: So one of my sisters basically asked me one day
- 5:08Speaker 6: she saw something that I wrote and she.
- 5:10Speaker 5: Asked me if I wrote it, and I was.
- 5:11Speaker 6: Like, yeah, I wrote it, And by her reaction, I
- 5:14Speaker 6: could tell that she thought it was something, there was
- 5:17Speaker 6: something to it, and so I always kept writing. I
- 5:20Speaker 6: didn't necessarily do anything with the poetry I was writing,
- 5:24Speaker 6: but I went to school the arts, and I would sing,
- 5:26Speaker 6: and so I really wanted to be like this big
- 5:30Speaker 6: time singer. And when I got to high school, I
- 5:35Speaker 6: kind of started playing the piano a little bit more,
- 5:38Speaker 6: growing in that area, and I kind of pushed a
- 5:40Speaker 6: singing to the side and the poetry just all of it.
- 5:43Speaker 6: And so I would basically if somebody came to me
- 5:45Speaker 6: and they were like, oh, I heard you write poetry.
- 5:46Speaker 6: You write me a poem for this girl that I'm
- 5:48Speaker 6: interested in or this guy or whatever, That's what I
- 5:51Speaker 6: would do. But I wasn't saved, I wasn't a Christian,
- 5:55Speaker 6: so I didn't I still didn't connect the fact.
- 5:58Speaker 5: That I had this gift that God wanted to use it.
- 6:01Speaker 6: So I went through college pretty much just like you know,
- 6:04Speaker 6: taking I majored in English because I knew I could,
- 6:07Speaker 6: I knew I could write. If there was one thing
- 6:09Speaker 6: that I felt like I can excel at, it's this,
- 6:12Speaker 6: And I actually I wrote a poem about it in
- 6:14Speaker 6: my first poetry book called Scott Free that I almost
- 6:18Speaker 6: failed the poetry class that I took in college. I
- 6:21Speaker 6: got a D and then had to like work my
- 6:23Speaker 6: way up to this probably b or something.
- 6:26Speaker 5: I know it wasn't an a.
- 6:28Speaker 6: And when I moved to California after college, I reconnected
- 6:34Speaker 6: with two friends and became got saved, like within days
- 6:38Speaker 6: of being there. And so I'm living in la I'm
- 6:41Speaker 6: living in this house with these two Christian women and
- 6:44Speaker 6: we're all basically trying to figure out what does it
- 6:47Speaker 6: mean to live this Christian life?
- 6:49Speaker 5: And then I started going.
- 6:52Speaker 7: To a poetry lounge, one of the most popular poetry
- 6:55Speaker 7: lounges in the country, called the Poetry Lounge.
- 6:58Speaker 3: And.
- 7:00Speaker 6: It I just I know it was holy spirit. Like
- 7:02Speaker 6: I didn't get a chance to do anything in the world,
- 7:07Speaker 6: like because I wasn't interested in that. Like I dated
- 7:09Speaker 6: a guy he was in a group he rapped when
- 7:11Speaker 6: I was in high school and it just wasn't.
- 7:14Speaker 5: I wasn't.
- 7:15Speaker 6: I didn't even wrap then, and I wrote poetry, but
- 7:18Speaker 6: I was like, I don't even see how this could work.
- 7:21Speaker 6: So I didn't pursue it until after being a Christian.
- 7:27Speaker 6: And that was really just because I loved poetry. I
- 7:29Speaker 6: was going to this spot. My friends were encouraging me,
- 7:32Speaker 6: and over time I started to see like, Okay, this
- 7:35Speaker 6: is something that God can really use. And when I
- 7:38Speaker 6: go into the poetry spots in La or wherever, as
- 7:42Speaker 6: God started opening more doors and I started traveling like
- 7:46Speaker 6: I can use these.
- 7:48Speaker 5: Words to impact people.
- 7:50Speaker 6: And it just over time, it just became more clear
- 7:54Speaker 6: that God wanted to use my gifts.
- 7:56Speaker 5: And so I can't say it was me like I
- 8:00Speaker 5: chose this.
- 8:01Speaker 6: I saw these great examples doing it. I'm not saying
- 8:05Speaker 6: that there weren't examples, because there were. But I was
- 8:08Speaker 6: just like, Okay, if this is I'm just gonna follow
- 8:11Speaker 6: the string. Lord, I feel like you're telling me to.
- 8:15Speaker 5: Go this way. That's the way I'm going to go.
- 8:18Speaker 7: And He's just opened up a lot of incredible doors
- 8:21Speaker 7: along the way.
- 8:21Speaker 5: I started rapping and Yeah, I just feel like He
- 8:26Speaker 5: gave me this gift.
- 8:27Speaker 7: So there's nobody there's nothing else, nobody else that deserves
- 8:31Speaker 7: for me to use it for them except him.
- 8:34Speaker 4: Wow, that was power for what you just said. Nobody
- 8:37Speaker 4: else deserves this gift. Now I choose to give it
- 8:41Speaker 4: to the Lord. That is also cool.
- 8:45Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean nobody else.
- 8:49Speaker 7: Somebody else can if more people had that attitude, you.
- 8:53Speaker 6: Know, I give him all the credit, all the glory,
- 9:00Speaker 6: because I wouldn't say that I want to like switch over.
- 9:03Speaker 6: I've never had the aspirations to switch over to the
- 9:06Speaker 6: secular side or anything, but I have like look through
- 9:10Speaker 6: the glass been like.
- 9:15Speaker 5: You know, I'm I'm happy to be doing what I'm doing.
- 9:18Speaker 7: But I'm gonna be honest and say sometimes it is
- 9:21Speaker 7: like it's captivating because you know, they have these opportunities
- 9:26Speaker 7: that I don't necessarily have. But I'm grateful for all
- 9:30Speaker 7: the doors that God has opened. And I wouldn't I
- 9:32Speaker 7: wouldn't change it for anything.
- 9:34Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, it's since you're not You're not by yourself.
- 9:37Speaker 4: I believe we all as believers, we've all looked through
- 9:40Speaker 4: that glass. You know, looked at that window. There's even
- 9:43Speaker 4: you know, scriptures in the Bible and you know the
- 9:45Speaker 4: Book of Songs where the song has said I almost
- 9:48Speaker 4: slipped because it looked like the heat and are living
- 9:51Speaker 4: a good life?
- 9:52Speaker 2: Right? You know, I'm trying to serve God.
- 9:54Speaker 4: I'm getting beat down all the time. He's like going
- 9:58Speaker 4: to God like what's up? You know, it seems like
- 10:00Speaker 4: they're prospering. But God said, yeah, but look at the
- 10:04Speaker 4: end of that life, you know, look at the end
- 10:06Speaker 4: of the role and and stuff, and so so that's
- 10:08Speaker 4: the most important part.
- 10:10Speaker 5: In Yeah, then I just want to encourage you.
- 10:14Speaker 4: You know, you're not by yourself and you're making a
- 10:16Speaker 4: huge impact, you know what I mean, Which actually leads
- 10:19Speaker 4: me to my next question.
- 10:21Speaker 2: You've actually talking about opportunity.
- 10:24Speaker 4: You have been able to step on some big stages
- 10:28Speaker 4: and travel around the world.
- 10:29Speaker 5: You have.
- 10:31Speaker 4: I was reading your stuff. If I'm not mistaken, you were.
- 10:34Speaker 4: You did something at the Pentagon, right they had you
- 10:37Speaker 4: have to pick and I mean, tell us about that
- 10:40Speaker 4: and how did this unravel? Like how did these huge
- 10:44Speaker 4: doors open? Because you've been places people dream of going,
- 10:47Speaker 4: you know what I mean.
- 10:50Speaker 5: God is just really really good. But let me say
- 10:53Speaker 5: that again.
- 10:55Speaker 6: So the Pentagon opportunity came about because, as I mentioned,
- 11:01Speaker 6: I was living in la doing poetry, started traveling, going
- 11:05Speaker 6: to poetry slams, National poetry Slams, representing the city of
- 11:09Speaker 6: la and the city of Hollywood, and and then I
- 11:13Speaker 6: felt like God was leading me to move to Atlanta.
- 11:17Speaker 6: Had family there, and so I moved and within a
- 11:19Speaker 6: few months I met two guys. One was Ricardo and
- 11:23Speaker 6: Flow and one at the time he went by a
- 11:26Speaker 6: different name, but he Aaron J.
- 11:29Speaker 7: Now and we started a group called Platinum Soults, and
- 11:34Speaker 7: so Aaron was a singer.
- 11:36Speaker 5: Flow rapped and I was the poet.
- 11:39Speaker 6: And within a short time Aaron had to leave the group,
- 11:42Speaker 6: and so Flow and I continued and I started. That's
- 11:45Speaker 6: how I started rapping, because I felt like I need
- 11:47Speaker 6: to fill this void. And so years of doing Holy
- 11:51Speaker 6: hip Hop, there was an organization called a Fellowship with
- 11:54Speaker 6: Holy hip Hop, and so we would do the annual
- 11:58Speaker 6: events for that, and we traveled around the country out
- 12:01Speaker 6: of the country and Eddie Belez, he was one of
- 12:05Speaker 6: the founders of the Fellowship of Foli hip Hop and
- 12:08Speaker 6: he's connected to.
- 12:09Speaker 7: The military somehow. I don't want to lie and say
- 12:12Speaker 7: exactly because I don't remember how. But he had an
- 12:15Speaker 7: open door to bring several groups or individuals to the Pentagon,
- 12:21Speaker 7: and so the group that I was in, Platinum Souls,
- 12:24Speaker 7: he brought us Gospel Gangsters, Campton Jones. I know there
- 12:29Speaker 7: were a couple more people, and I hate that I
- 12:31Speaker 7: keep forgetting who they were, but I would say maybe
- 12:34Speaker 7: there were about five or six of us, and so
- 12:36Speaker 7: we got to minister at the US Pentagon.
- 12:39Speaker 5: They have like an atrium open type of area.
- 12:42Speaker 7: Where people kind of come through as it going from
- 12:44Speaker 7: one I guess hall or whatever to another.
- 12:47Speaker 5: It was huge and so we couldn't take any pictures inside.
- 12:51Speaker 5: No video.
- 12:52Speaker 7: Security was like top a top as we said, Jamaica,
- 12:56Speaker 7: top of top security.
- 12:57Speaker 5: They weren't playing and.
- 12:58Speaker 6: So I think I have like a little footage of
- 13:01Speaker 6: a clip outside of the Pentagon, but once you kind
- 13:04Speaker 6: of step on the grounds and you're ready to go
- 13:06Speaker 6: inside there there they don't play that because it could
- 13:09Speaker 6: it could be a phone, it could.
- 13:10Speaker 5: Be something else. Yes, I got to do.
- 13:15Speaker 7: Poetry there and then rap in the you know part
- 13:19Speaker 7: of the group as well.
- 13:21Speaker 4: Man, Man, that is amazing. That is amazing. The Pentagon.
- 13:25Speaker 4: I can just just imagine the thing I think about
- 13:29Speaker 4: you probably you know, we just had nine to eleven,
- 13:35Speaker 4: right and I was just watching some videos about it,
- 13:38Speaker 4: and they're talking to a lot of stuff about the
- 13:41Speaker 4: you know, all the conspiracies and stuff behind that. But
- 13:45Speaker 4: then the Pentagon was heading and I just think of
- 13:48Speaker 4: all these things. As you're you're talking, you're explaining your story,
- 13:51Speaker 4: you know, the Pentagon is a very important destination in
- 13:55Speaker 4: our country. So that's that's an honor that you've also
- 14:00Speaker 4: been on TBN and BT like, you know, just share
- 14:04Speaker 4: a little bit because that's amazing. Those are some great accomplishments.
- 14:09Speaker 5: Yeah, thank you.
- 14:09Speaker 6: I want to say that the Pentagon was after nine
- 14:12Speaker 6: to eleven, so it was like two thousand.
- 14:14Speaker 5: And four, two thousand, two thousand and four, So so
- 14:17Speaker 5: that's why security was like at the height.
- 14:22Speaker 7: As far as TBN, I want to say the first
- 14:29Speaker 7: I've been on TV in a few times, and some
- 14:33Speaker 7: of them were local, like local and Montgomery local in other.
- 14:39Speaker 5: Cities that I can't think of right now.
- 14:41Speaker 6: But and then I've been on like the internationally broadcast
- 14:45Speaker 6: where they we taped out of Atlanta a couple of times.
- 14:50Speaker 5: And so that was also when I was in the group.
- 14:54Speaker 6: We got an opportunity to go on so CT Wining's
- 14:57Speaker 6: heard about us because of a good friend of ours
- 14:59Speaker 6: who was really always looking out for us in the industry,
- 15:03Speaker 6: and we.
- 15:04Speaker 5: Got to be a part of CT's.
- 15:07Speaker 6: She used to do a conference called Always Sisters, and
- 15:10Speaker 6: so I believe we did that conference like two years
- 15:13Speaker 6: and then she brought us on TVN and so wrapped
- 15:17Speaker 6: on there, did poetry.
- 15:18Speaker 7: On there and b E T I believe I want
- 15:22Speaker 7: to say it was Jack Majors.
- 15:24Speaker 5: He used to have a show on b.
- 15:26Speaker 6: ET and got an opportunity while in La to be
- 15:31Speaker 6: on his show, and that was on BET. I feel like,
- 15:34Speaker 6: I know I've been on TV one and so I
- 15:36Speaker 6: want to shout out, No, that's not I've been on
- 15:40Speaker 6: TV one, But I want to shout out to Ammy Max.
- 15:43Speaker 6: Whatever station tam Tammy Max show is on, she broadcasts out.
- 15:49Speaker 6: She's a radio personality out of La. Stevie Wonder like
- 15:52Speaker 6: hand picked her. She's just phenomenal and she's.
- 15:56Speaker 5: Been like and I never called it like my big
- 15:59Speaker 5: sister industry, but that's what she is.
- 16:01Speaker 6: She's she's always looking out for me. And so I
- 16:03Speaker 6: was able to go on her show as well. And
- 16:07Speaker 6: just God opening doors and meeting people and you know,
- 16:11Speaker 6: just trying to be excellent, trying not to I don't
- 16:16Speaker 6: want to meet people just because I think like they
- 16:18Speaker 6: can get me on somewhere, Like I just really try
- 16:20Speaker 6: to make genuine connections with people and then God opens doors,
- 16:24Speaker 6: like I got to go to I ministered at the
- 16:27Speaker 6: Potter's house, and I want to say I ministered there
- 16:31Speaker 6: two years in a row. So the first time it
- 16:34Speaker 6: was because I had after I I know, I've lived
- 16:38Speaker 6: in a lot of places, but after I lived in
- 16:39Speaker 6: LA moved to Atlanta, started the group, ended the group
- 16:43Speaker 6: after about almost eight years, and then moved to Alabama.
- 16:48Speaker 6: I was I was there and I was serving, and
- 16:50Speaker 6: I didn't know what God wanted me to do next
- 16:53Speaker 6: because the group had been like we had all this
- 16:55Speaker 6: success and then all of a sudden, God is like,
- 16:58Speaker 6: I want you to move to Alabama where you only
- 17:00Speaker 6: know like a handful of people, and you've ministered there
- 17:04Speaker 6: so they know you. But it's like, well everything is
- 17:07Speaker 6: different now.
- 17:08Speaker 5: You know.
- 17:09Speaker 6: So I was living in Alabama and I was living
- 17:11Speaker 6: there for I don't know a few months, and my
- 17:15Speaker 6: pastor's wife asked me to drive They have brought to
- 17:19Speaker 6: people in who were dancers. They led the dance praising
- 17:23Speaker 6: danceman Street at the Potter's house. And my pastor's wife
- 17:29Speaker 6: knew that I like to go back and forth to Atlanta,
- 17:32Speaker 6: so she was like, well can you drive them?
- 17:33Speaker 5: Like, will rent your car, you just drive them to
- 17:35Speaker 5: the airport.
- 17:36Speaker 7: Something had happened with their flight, and so along with drive,
- 17:39Speaker 7: I'm just playing music and I was just playing mixtapes
- 17:43Speaker 7: because when I was in the group, we put out
- 17:44Speaker 7: the mixtapes and I wasn't trying to play it because
- 17:47Speaker 7: I was on it.
- 17:48Speaker 5: It's just I'm on it.
- 17:49Speaker 7: I'm I'm enjoying listening to all the other artists on it.
- 17:52Speaker 7: And af we're driving, they're like, oh, is that you
- 17:55Speaker 7: can do on the poetry.
- 17:56Speaker 5: I'm like, yeah, sure, you know, uh huh, I take
- 17:58Speaker 5: you to the airport. I don't think anything.
- 18:00Speaker 6: It Like a week or so later, they're like, do
- 18:02Speaker 6: you want to come to the Potter's House?
- 18:03Speaker 5: And I'm like do I is this a real question?
- 18:09Speaker 3: Absolutely? So yeah.
- 18:12Speaker 6: The first time I ministered that the Potter's House was
- 18:14Speaker 6: at their dance conference and I want to stay at
- 18:16Speaker 6: the then am unless you ask me another budget.
- 18:18Speaker 7: This is just one of those things that God does
- 18:20Speaker 7: to like keep me humble. So after I ministered, I did,
- 18:24Speaker 7: I did poetry.
- 18:26Speaker 6: I went off the stage and I was looking for
- 18:28Speaker 6: my Bible and I just could not find my Bible
- 18:31Speaker 6: and I didn't want to go in the sanctuary without it.
- 18:33Speaker 6: So I was late going into the sanctuary as I'm
- 18:35Speaker 6: going in. I'm getting all these texts. My friends are
- 18:37Speaker 6: texting me because they were watching online and they're.
- 18:40Speaker 5: Like, did you hear what Bishop Jake said about you? Girl?
- 18:43Speaker 6: I was like nosed the whole thing, like I don't
- 18:48Speaker 6: know what exact I never know what he said.
- 18:51Speaker 4: About me, So you didn't need you didn't hear you
- 18:55Speaker 4: didn't get any chance to hear what he said.
- 18:57Speaker 5: I didn't hear what he said.
- 18:59Speaker 6: But my friends were like, he said this, and he
- 19:01Speaker 6: said you're something that they yeah, they brought me back.
- 19:04Speaker 6: I want to say either that same year, the next year,
- 19:06Speaker 6: but yeah, in the moment, it.
- 19:08Speaker 5: Was just like, God, I see what you're doing here.
- 19:10Speaker 7: You don't want me to get a big head because
- 19:11Speaker 7: I just missed what he said it.
- 19:17Speaker 4: Oh man, that's amazing. Wow, what an amazing opportunity. Man,
- 19:22Speaker 4: that's that's just wow. That's awesome.
- 19:26Speaker 3: That's awesome.
- 19:26Speaker 6: Okay, well, actually platform ends I appreciate.
- 19:31Speaker 5: It doesn't matter.
- 19:32Speaker 7: I've ministered literally to one person because the event they
- 19:36Speaker 7: changed and they forgot to tell me and only me
- 19:39Speaker 7: and the you know me, whoever else in the DJ
- 19:42Speaker 7: were there.
- 19:43Speaker 6: So I don't want to make it seem like I'm
- 19:45Speaker 6: after all these tens of thousands, like I appreciate even
- 19:48Speaker 6: if it's just one, because I know the people who
- 19:51Speaker 6: poured into me, they were concerned about me, not about
- 19:55Speaker 6: like could she reach one day? You never know, like
- 19:59Speaker 6: I'm or there were people that were like, I ain't
- 20:01Speaker 6: never gonna be nobody or by hurt.
- 20:03Speaker 4: But you know you're right, yes, yes that's a that's
- 20:08Speaker 4: actually a beautiful heart. We Actually I have the same
- 20:12Speaker 4: attitude because when I started I started Club Hitsyba Christian
- 20:16Speaker 4: club out here in Vegas back in twenty twelve, and
- 20:19Speaker 4: we did events, concerts every month out here, and sometimes
- 20:24Speaker 4: the building was empty, you know what I mean, it
- 20:27Speaker 4: was like nothing but cheers in the audience, maybe one
- 20:30Speaker 4: or two people.
- 20:30Speaker 3: And I used to tell my staff.
- 20:33Speaker 4: I tell them, you know what, if it's we're gonna
- 20:35Speaker 4: go from eight to eighty, if there's eight people here,
- 20:37Speaker 4: eighty million, they need to hear the gospel, you know,
- 20:40Speaker 4: they need to get poured into. So I can appreciate
- 20:43Speaker 4: that heart that you have. It shows that it's genuine
- 20:47Speaker 4: that you see people the way God sees them.
- 20:50Speaker 3: You know what I mean.
- 20:51Speaker 6: I try some people I'm still trying to, Like I
- 20:55Speaker 6: don't know God, but I tried.
- 21:00Speaker 3: Hey man, hey hey, we all have those tests, you know.
- 21:03Speaker 4: The Lord tests us, right, he always testing us. Man,
- 21:07Speaker 4: Hey man, that's awesome. Okay, Well, at this time, I
- 21:11Speaker 4: want to go ahead and get something. Get into your
- 21:13Speaker 4: your spoken word piece over here the Come Sunday, and
- 21:18Speaker 4: like I said, you're all over our station. Man, you're
- 21:21Speaker 4: spoken word and your your your your music, you know,
- 21:25Speaker 4: and this is another great addition to it.
- 21:28Speaker 3: Definitely didn't disappoint us.
- 21:30Speaker 5: Man.
- 21:30Speaker 3: It's you're very talented.
- 21:32Speaker 4: So we're gonna go ahead and get into it. Should
- 21:37Speaker 4: we play it first or do you want to set
- 21:39Speaker 4: it something and tell us about it first?
- 21:41Speaker 5: You can play it first.
- 21:45Speaker 3: Play it first.
- 21:45Speaker 4: Okay, We're gonna play it first, and then we're gonna
- 21:49Speaker 4: come back with ty Scott King right here live on
- 21:52Speaker 4: His Hot Radio. You are listening to the light of
- 21:58Speaker 4: Las Vegas. This it's the His Hop Radio.
- 22:01Speaker 5: Show, Come Sunday.
- 22:10Speaker 7: Take me to my father's house so that I can
- 22:13Speaker 7: pour all of my sorrows out because this week has
- 22:16Speaker 7: left me weak, bottled up pains I need to release
- 22:20Speaker 7: through amen's and hymns. So I let my tears stream
- 22:24Speaker 7: to him while the choir sings. Cast my cares onto
- 22:28Speaker 7: the Lord at the altar because I need him to
- 22:31Speaker 7: make some alterations, deliver me from altercations, because the devil
- 22:36Speaker 7: don't take no vacations, and he stayed trying to fight me.
- 22:40Speaker 7: So I need you, God to keep holding on tightly,
- 22:43Speaker 7: never letting go. Hide me in your shadow because I
- 22:47Speaker 7: feel safe there in perfect love where we gather come
- 22:51Speaker 7: Sunday after Monday through Saturday. Drug me and I feel
- 22:56Speaker 7: like I'm under the influence life looking like it's in ruins.
- 23:00Speaker 7: Use your word to remind me that you still guide
- 23:03Speaker 7: me and you got me no matter what I see
- 23:06Speaker 7: or how it looks, regardless of how shook I feel,
- 23:09Speaker 7: your love has the power to heal. So I will
- 23:12Speaker 7: kneel in your presence, lift my hands high to the sky,
- 23:17Speaker 7: give you reverence, Allow even your whispers to quiet the
- 23:21Speaker 7: raging see inside of me.
- 23:23Speaker 5: Because this journey to get here has brought.
- 23:26Speaker 7: Me through fear, bitterness, brokenness, chaos, mess hopelessness, and yes,
- 23:33Speaker 7: even seasons of joy, rest and success. But I was
- 23:37Speaker 7: never my best apart from you. I knew it, and
- 23:41Speaker 7: you did too, yet you never held it against me.
- 23:45Speaker 7: Told me to draw near when I was still messy.
- 23:48Speaker 7: Because the truth is I never really be ready or
- 23:52Speaker 7: right enough. But your bloodshed was more than enough. So
- 23:56Speaker 7: I will cover up in your mercy, focus on your goodness,
- 24:01Speaker 7: trust that you will make away, and pray Come Sunday.
- 24:16Speaker 3: All right? All right?
- 24:18Speaker 4: That was Come Sunday right here on his High Radio
- 24:21Speaker 4: with ty Scott King on the m.
- 24:25Speaker 3: I c with us.
- 24:27Speaker 4: That is your spoken piece, that is your latest projects projects,
- 24:32Speaker 4: So tell us about it. What inspired you to write
- 24:34Speaker 4: this piece?
- 24:36Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 24:37Speaker 6: So that piece is actually the title track to the album.
- 24:42Speaker 6: The album is called Come Sunday and and has ten
- 24:44Speaker 6: ten spoken words pieces on it, some with music, some without.
- 24:48Speaker 6: And so that particular piece I was I think we
- 24:52Speaker 6: were wrapping up the album. My husband produced all the
- 24:56Speaker 6: tracks on the on the project. So when I say we,
- 24:58Speaker 6: that's what I'm talking about. Sunday night and we were
- 25:02Speaker 6: pretty much done, I want to say, maybe eight tracks
- 25:05Speaker 6: in and I was like, it needs, like I want
- 25:07Speaker 6: a title track. I don't think I've put out I've
- 25:11Speaker 6: put out two full albums before and a ton of singles,
- 25:14Speaker 6: but on neither of my albums did I have like
- 25:17Speaker 6: a poetry title track. My first album E three twenty.
- 25:20Speaker 5: I had like a.
- 25:21Speaker 6: Short nippit of a rap called E three twenty, but
- 25:24Speaker 6: I was like, I want a title track home because
- 25:27Speaker 6: I really want people to understand what I'm talking about
- 25:30Speaker 6: when I say comes Sunday, Like what does it even mean?
- 25:34Speaker 6: And so so I taken to my father's house, like
- 25:37Speaker 6: this journey from Monday to Sunday has not been easy,
- 25:42Speaker 6: from this non Christian to living this Christian life, it
- 25:46Speaker 6: has not been easy. And so that's really the theme
- 25:50Speaker 6: or the backdrop of the whole album is what what
- 25:54Speaker 6: has life looked.
- 25:55Speaker 5: Like from Monday to Sunday?
- 25:57Speaker 6: And you know, I'm not affected yet because I'm not
- 26:00Speaker 6: I'm not talking to you from heaven, so I'm still
- 26:02Speaker 6: on this journey. But yeah, Come Sunday is really trying
- 26:06Speaker 6: to remind people of like the fact that we're all
- 26:11Speaker 6: works in progress. We've all had to start from zero
- 26:15Speaker 6: as far as our salvation is concerned.
- 26:18Speaker 5: And for me, what has that looked like?
- 26:20Speaker 7: Because people see someone and they're like, oh, well, I know,
- 26:24Speaker 7: maybe she's been a Christian a long time.
- 26:26Speaker 5: She maybe they think I have it all together. I
- 26:29Speaker 5: just really.
- 26:29Speaker 6: Wanted to tell my story, like Monday to Sunday has been.
- 26:35Speaker 7: It's been a it's been to take me to my
- 26:37Speaker 7: father's house as much as possible, literally just throw me
- 26:41Speaker 7: at the altar of journey. And so yeah, that's that's
- 26:46Speaker 7: what the whole album is about. And that piece is
- 26:49Speaker 7: kind of the title track.
- 26:51Speaker 3: Amen. Amen, that's that's beautiful. Now.
- 26:54Speaker 4: I love the transparency because that's how we're going to
- 26:57Speaker 4: reach people. You know, some people I think as Christians,
- 27:01Speaker 4: we're perfect. We don't go through nothing, we have no problems.
- 27:05Speaker 4: God just blesses us with everything we want whenever we
- 27:08Speaker 4: ask him, you know what I mean.
- 27:10Speaker 3: But no, the real truth is it's a struggle.
- 27:13Speaker 4: You know, come Sunday, you know, from Sunday to Sunday,
- 27:16Speaker 4: there's some battles and the battle is always in the mind, right,
- 27:19Speaker 4: That's the battlefield is our thought life and stuff we
- 27:23Speaker 4: struggle with and stuff we need to turn over to
- 27:26Speaker 4: God and stuff like that.
- 27:27Speaker 3: So I really love when it's authentic like that.
- 27:32Speaker 6: You know, I appreciate the fact that you can relate
- 27:38Speaker 6: to that, you know, and that you understand. I'm not
- 27:42Speaker 6: one to like talk a ton about my struggles and
- 27:45Speaker 6: all that stuff. God is good, and that's really what
- 27:48Speaker 6: I'm always trying to remind people of and even even
- 27:52Speaker 6: as I've talked about some stuff that maybe I hadn't
- 27:55Speaker 6: shared before on this album, it's always from the perspective
- 27:58Speaker 6: that God is good, and this journey is I mean,
- 28:02Speaker 6: it is what it is. It's a journey that allows
- 28:04Speaker 6: to get closer to Him so that you know, we
- 28:08Speaker 6: can have this testimony that we're able to share with
- 28:12Speaker 6: other people.
- 28:13Speaker 5: So life for me, even on Crystal Stare, But God
- 28:17Speaker 5: is God has been there every step of the way.
- 28:20Speaker 3: Amen. Amen, hallelujah. That's good. God is so amazing. Oh
- 28:31Speaker 3: what man? You oh you talk about my shirt?
- 28:34Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm like, isn't it like white and gold?
- 28:38Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 28:40Speaker 4: Okay, let's see look at God or one in the spirit?
- 28:49Speaker 4: Oh man, you know what you know behind the scenes,
- 28:52Speaker 4: you know, I had to rush to get here and stuff.
- 28:54Speaker 4: So then I just grabbed this out the closet, like
- 28:56Speaker 4: so we can go live real quick.
- 28:57Speaker 3: So I know, Amen, that's awesome.
- 29:01Speaker 4: Well, you know, I wondered what I mentioned in the
- 29:04Speaker 4: intro right before you came on, before we uh well
- 29:09Speaker 4: actually right before I introduced you in our intro, I
- 29:12Speaker 4: mentioned that you're a part of our holidays, right because
- 29:16Speaker 4: you sent down some Christmas drops to us, You send
- 29:21Speaker 4: down some happy New Year's drops to us, and I
- 29:24Speaker 4: really don't get many of those, so I really appreciate
- 29:28Speaker 4: that that you would take that extra step right and
- 29:32Speaker 4: just minister that way, you know what I mean.
- 29:35Speaker 6: I'm a shout out Big Red. He's a he used
- 29:39Speaker 6: to rap. I think sometimes he still races us with
- 29:41Speaker 6: his Christian raps. But he's a big he does radio.
- 29:44Speaker 6: He's a radio hosting me as a radio show.
- 29:47Speaker 5: And his name is Big Red. And I don't know.
- 29:50Speaker 6: I was on like some call with him one day
- 29:53Speaker 6: and he was like, send those DJs some Christmas and
- 29:56Speaker 6: some New Year's eve drops.
- 29:58Speaker 7: And I wrote that down like I'm doing and every
- 30:01Speaker 7: year I've done it. So I'm glad that you appreciate it.
- 30:04Speaker 4: Yeah, no doubt, no doubt, something I look forward to,
- 30:07Speaker 4: you know, putting you in rotation and you know, just
- 30:10Speaker 4: kind of setting the atmosphere I only got I got.
- 30:13Speaker 4: I get very few of those in you. And actually
- 30:16Speaker 4: CC Whinings is one of the other artists that sent
- 30:19Speaker 4: me some, So you're up there with CC Winings on
- 30:22Speaker 4: his eye radio.
- 30:25Speaker 3: So like, okay, so you know you're you're you're.
- 30:28Speaker 4: What do they say, uh, what do they call it?
- 30:32Speaker 4: Like a home name, you're part of the family or whatever.
- 30:35Speaker 4: I don't know, I'm messing up the term.
- 30:36Speaker 3: But yeah, I do appreciate.
- 30:40Speaker 5: Those in person too.
- 30:43Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, you're saying, well, you know, we do events
- 30:46Speaker 4: all the time here in Vegas. We have an event
- 30:50Speaker 4: coming up. Man, I should have said it in the announcements,
- 30:52Speaker 4: but that's what happens when you're Russian and all kind
- 30:55Speaker 4: of stuff. You know what's going on, and you know,
- 30:57Speaker 4: behind the scenes if people only knew. But we do
- 31:01Speaker 4: have an event October first at the Santa Fe Hotel
- 31:04Speaker 4: and Casino in the ballroom. And you know, I'm there
- 31:08Speaker 4: every month doing stuff. So maybe one time, you know,
- 31:11Speaker 4: when you make it to Vegas, we could put something
- 31:13Speaker 4: together for you. You know, we meet with different local
- 31:16Speaker 4: business owners and stuff like there like that, and I'm
- 31:19Speaker 4: like the DJ and I bring my podcasts up there
- 31:22Speaker 4: and we get to meet all these people and stuff,
- 31:24Speaker 4: and so we're wanting to introduce more music our genre,
- 31:29Speaker 4: you know, our genre to that crowd. So if you
- 31:32Speaker 4: ever make it this way, I just wanted to drop
- 31:34Speaker 4: that in your ear.
- 31:36Speaker 5: Yeah. Absolutely, as I shared with you, before we.
- 31:39Speaker 6: Came on Live, my husband and I had an opportunity
- 31:41Speaker 6: to travel the country and brand ambassadors. And when we
- 31:45Speaker 6: got the opportunity, we were living in southern California in
- 31:50Speaker 6: Orange County, and so we're like, where do we want
- 31:53Speaker 6: to go? We're mapping places and we're like, we've got
- 31:55Speaker 6: to go live in Vegas. So we lived in Vegas
- 31:57Speaker 6: for like two and a half months. It was incredible.
- 32:00Speaker 6: None wants to come back and live there again.
- 32:01Speaker 5: But that eat it was next level at night. At night,
- 32:08Speaker 5: it was like one hundred and something degrees.
- 32:14Speaker 6: Yes, yep, my face, it was insane.
- 32:18Speaker 3: Yes, yes.
- 32:21Speaker 7: And I grew up I'm from Jamaica and I grew
- 32:24Speaker 7: up in Miami. I understand he but that was so
- 32:30Speaker 7: I Actually we were getting ready to leave Vegas.
- 32:34Speaker 5: We were moving.
- 32:34Speaker 7: After living there for a couple of months. And my
- 32:38Speaker 7: brother in law is a is a music artist.
- 32:40Speaker 6: He's a reggae artist, and he has a friend who
- 32:43Speaker 6: plays in Shaggy's band, and Shaggy was gonna be out
- 32:46Speaker 6: on like the old Vegas strip and we're like, I
- 32:49Speaker 6: can meet Shaggy.
- 32:50Speaker 5: I mean, I grew up listening to Shaggy, so I'm
- 32:52Speaker 5: like yeah, let me shin up. Well I saw that temperature.
- 32:56Speaker 5: I was like, I don't care.
- 32:57Speaker 7: I don't care who's there if it ain't Jesus.
- 33:07Speaker 5: But we definitely want to come to Vegas. Stuff.
- 33:10Speaker 6: There's anybody listening willing to bring a crazy oh and
- 33:13Speaker 6: her husband and not do some wraps and stuff. You know,
- 33:16Speaker 6: of course we love to come, so we'll be we'll
- 33:19Speaker 6: be praying about that.
- 33:20Speaker 3: Come on, We're definitely gonna bring you out.
- 33:22Speaker 4: But I don't bring people out in the summertime, I
- 33:25Speaker 4: tell you, unless we're doing something inside, you know what
- 33:28Speaker 4: I mean. Like, if you want to get an illustration
- 33:32Speaker 4: about Hell and you want to witness the people and
- 33:34Speaker 4: tell them you don't want to go there, and bring
- 33:36Speaker 4: them to Vegas.
- 33:38Speaker 3: Is part of the summer.
- 33:39Speaker 4: They'll be like, oh, I'm betting saved perfectly.
- 33:43Speaker 5: We're like we are leaving day gets early June.
- 33:48Speaker 3: Yeah, crazy, yes, yes, yeah, yep, yep. That's that's us. Man.
- 33:54Speaker 4: I grew up, you know, I'm born and raised here,
- 33:56Speaker 4: so so I mean, you don't get used to it,
- 33:58Speaker 4: but you know how to cope. You know, we don't
- 34:00Speaker 4: go outside during the summer. We're like, we're like we hibernate.
- 34:06Speaker 5: Yeah, a our ac was a blessing. Yes, blessing, blessing, blessing.
- 34:13Speaker 4: Can't live it out, it can't live it at it. Okay, Well,
- 34:16Speaker 4: I want to ask you a little bit about our genre.
- 34:19Speaker 4: I'm pretty sure you've heard the news that Kendrick Lamar
- 34:24Speaker 4: gave a shout out to Lecree in D One and
- 34:28Speaker 4: I think that's amazing and I think that's a huge
- 34:30Speaker 4: step forward for what we're trying to do, you know
- 34:34Speaker 4: what I mean. I actually started out as an artist myself,
- 34:38Speaker 4: as a gospel rap artist, and I'm still gonna do
- 34:41Speaker 4: some stuff in the future. But I remember when I
- 34:43Speaker 4: first started, it seemed like we were so insignificant, like
- 34:47Speaker 4: no one knew what we were doing or you know,
- 34:50Speaker 4: and a lot of churches didn't accept it. So from
- 34:53Speaker 4: your perspective, especially from the things you've been able to do,
- 34:57Speaker 4: what do you think about that?
- 35:00Speaker 5: I think it's great.
- 35:01Speaker 6: The fact that Kendrick is familiar with Lucraine, familiar with
- 35:06Speaker 6: D one like that speaks a lot to the work
- 35:09Speaker 6: that they have been doing, what God has allowed them
- 35:13Speaker 6: to do, and not just ministry, but in the industry,
- 35:17Speaker 6: because it is we're called to be the salt and
- 35:21Speaker 6: the life right, and if we're there to go into
- 35:24Speaker 6: these arenas like I've ministered at bars, I've ministered that clubs.
- 35:28Speaker 7: I've literally had people raise their glass and I say
- 35:30Speaker 7: I'm going to rap about Jesus and they're like, yeah, Jesus.
- 35:33Speaker 5: I mean, were they being serious? I don't know, But I.
- 35:36Speaker 7: Wouldn't say that's everybody's calling, but I know that it's.
- 35:41Speaker 6: Mine because I didn't grow up going to church. So
- 35:44Speaker 6: who am I to like now shun this whole group
- 35:48Speaker 6: of people who I know, you know, need need Jesus,
- 35:51Speaker 6: and a lot of them are Christians. They're just not
- 35:55Speaker 6: living the lifestyle yet.
- 35:58Speaker 3: So I
