- 0:15To. Teach distinctions,
- 0:17possibilities, new ways of thinking, and just bring some
- 0:20joy into the world. So welcome to the coop and let's
- 0:23start your day off in a fantastic way, hey?
- 0:28Everybody, good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:30So today we are talking about questions and the fact that
- 0:36sometimes people do not like to ask questions.
- 0:39I understand that I am definitely not one of those
- 0:42people, but there are a lot of people out there and maybe even
- 0:45some of my listeners who do not like to ask questions for one
- 0:48reason or another. Now I I personally, I've spent a
- 0:52great deal of time in my life in trouble for asking too many.
- 0:56Questions. I annoy people I know I annoy my
- 1:00husband by asking too many questions when I see people I
- 1:03mean him. He's probably the only person
- 1:05that really gets annoyed with all the questions and I don't.
- 1:09And it's not questions to be nosy, it's just curiosity driven
- 1:12questions. And sometimes, you know, I enjoy
- 1:17asking them because I'm constantly learning things.
- 1:20But I can understand that some people are uncomfortable asking
- 1:23questions because let's face it, it, it's may possibly be
- 1:27interpreted as an indication that you don't know what you're
- 1:30doing. So therefore some people don't
- 1:32like to ask questions. But from my perspective, the
- 1:35question, it's how we source our life, it's how we take on the,
- 1:42you know, the growth path of our life by asking questions of
- 1:45ourselves and of others, by really making sure we understand
- 1:49where we are and where we want to go.
- 1:51We ask questions and they're powerful.
- 1:54Now, there is something to be said for asking crappy questions
- 1:57because that does happen and people do ask crappy questions.
- 2:01So when you ask a, you know, a, a quality question, you get
- 2:06quality answers. When you ask questions that are,
- 2:08you know, not so quality, you don't get quality answers and
- 2:13therefore you get stuck in a lot of places because you're not
- 2:17asking the right questions. Now, when I say the right
- 2:20questions, I genuinely mean questions that will help you
- 2:24along the path in the sense of is this bringing me towards
- 2:27something? You've heard me talk before
- 2:29about the towards, in a way, are we moving towards what we want
- 2:33and away from what we don't want?
- 2:34Because that's really what it comes down to.
- 2:36Everything comes to moving towards and moving away.
- 2:39It's not going to be an instantaneous shift in most
- 2:42situations. Sometimes it will, but for the
- 2:44most part it's not and it's it's back and forth.
- 2:47So the questions you're asking yourself most often, the
- 2:51predominant questions that you ask yourself most often really
- 2:55do drive that outcome of am I moving towards something or am I
- 2:58moving away from something. It's really tricky when you
- 3:01don't monitor those questions because they're very unconscious
- 3:05often and they, they will, they will push you in a direction
- 3:10that you probably didn't even know you were headed.
- 3:13So it's incredibly important to recognize that when you are,
- 3:18when you're in the process of discovering your own questions
- 3:21that you actually, you know, jot them down, say, OK, I really
- 3:25need to like dig into this. So I'm going to start jotting
- 3:28questions down that I hear myself say, but you're going to
- 3:33tap into it consciously by saying, because most of the
- 3:36questions we ask are unconscious, we don't even pay
- 3:38attention to them. But once you start asking
- 3:41yourself, I really want to know the questions in the
- 3:44conversations I'm having with myself, you can start to hear
- 3:48them, You can start to delineate them.
- 3:49You can start to feel them in a different way.
- 3:51So I, I think it's critical to write things down.
- 3:55Now, when I say write them down, you could use your notes app in
- 3:57your phone. You can record them.
- 3:59I don't care how you do them. Write them with pen and paper.
- 4:02I mean, that's the way I do it most of the time.
- 4:04But I think it's, I think it's imperative in growth to write
- 4:09down what are the questions that I'm asking myself most of the
- 4:13time, you know, like, why does this always happen to me?
- 4:18Like think about how many times you've heard yourself ask that
- 4:21question. And of course, when you ask,
- 4:23that's a very unresourceful question.
- 4:25Why does this always happen to me?
- 4:27What's not always happening to you?
- 4:28May have happened a few times, maybe you think it's often I'm
- 4:33air quoting as I say that, but you get the point.
- 4:35It's not a resourceful question to ask that.
- 4:38A better question to say is what brought this forward?
- 4:41What brought this on? What were the indicators that
- 4:44this was going to happen or happen again?
- 4:48It's getting really good at understanding that portion of
- 4:52it, the ones that take place most frequently.
- 4:56Now, I will say there are some very, very good questions out
- 5:01there that you can ask yourself regularly that really help you.
- 5:06One of my favourites is this, the person I choose to be.
- 5:10So if you're in a situation and you don't like that situation
- 5:13and you're trying to navigate it and you're getting frustrated,
- 5:16aggravated, all of that, and you ask yourself, is this the person
- 5:20I choose to be? You're going to say no.
- 5:22OK, then let me change how I show up.
- 5:25That will shift you pretty quickly.
- 5:27And I promise you, once you start identifying that things
- 5:30start to look up. All right, my friends, I hope
- 5:33you have a blessed day and I will see you tomorrow.
- 5:35Bye.
