- 0:05My name is Augustine and a few years ago I decided to visit my relatives
- 0:10in a small town in the United States. I had spent most of my
- 0:14life in Mexico, but the idea of reconnecting with my family prompted me to
- 0:19undertake this trip to unknown lands. The first night at my relatives' house
- 0:25was quiet, but something unusual happened. I heard strange noises that seemed to
- 0:31come from the forest surrounding the house. It was a remote place, far
- 0:35from civilization, where darkness took over everything when the sun set. I decided
- 0:41to get up to investigate. My cousins were deep asleep, just like the
- 0:46rest of the house. I took a flashlight and ventured outside, leaving behind
- 0:50the warm shelter of the cabin. As I went into the dark. The
- 0:57sounds became more disturbing, crus branches under my feet and I sometimes heard a
- 1:02distant noise. But what bothered me the most was a rotting smell floating in
- 1:07the air, like a mixture of decomposing meat and something like rotten grass.
- 1:12My steps led me to a clearing in the forest and there, in the
- 1:17distance and between the shadows, I saw something that icy my blood. A
- 1:21couple of asses stood out of the weeds like the horns of a deer,
- 1:26but there was something terribly wrong with that scene. The arses were exaggeratedly large
- 1:32and twisted and seemed to grow directly from the head of the creature with no
- 1:38visible body. I stood still with the flashlight in my hand. I couldn
- 1:42' t see beyond the asts and a feeling of discomfort took hold of me.
- 1:47However, something inside me. He told me that I should not come
- 1:51any closer and slowly retreated with my heart beating hard and returned back to the
- 1:56house. The next day I shared my experience with my cousins. One of
- 2:00them, Michael, listened to my story seriously and then mentioned that there was
- 2:06a creepy story about a being called the Walkers. According to legend, skinwalkers
- 2:13were mystical creatures, capable of changing form and invoking evil. They were said
- 2:20to be lurking in the woods and to take the form of animals to deceive
- 2:23the unwary. That story left me intrigued. I had always been interested in
- 2:30all that paranormal, so I decided to investigate more about skinwalkers, discovered that
- 2:35they were part of Navajo mythology and that those who became skin walkers were believed
- 2:39to practice dark rituals to obtain supernatural powers. Some even claimed that they could
- 2:49be transformed into any animal they wished for, even human beings. Despite the
- 2:53disturbingness of the story, I decided not to pay too much attention to it,
- 3:00it seems to me to breed and one more legend. In a village
- 3:00full of folk tales and superstitions. Instead, I chose to embrace my other
- 3:06passion, the house. My uncle had a home dog named Max, a
- 3:12magnificent trained hound who was eager for action. That afternoon, I decided to
- 3:17take Max to the forest in search of servants. The idea of an exciting
- 3:21hunt seemed the best way to forget the disturbing experiences of the night before.
- 3:28The forest was spreading in front of us majestic and dark. The trees rose
- 3:32impressively and the air was imbued with the fragrance of nature. I went into
- 3:38the weed with Max following me closely. We walked for hours, following traces
- 3:45of deer, but it seemed that the prey remained elusive. That afternoon,
- 3:49the darkness began to fall and the full moon began to appear between the branches,
- 3:54but something in the atmosphere began to upset me again. It was at
- 4:00that moment that I heard what seemed to be a howl. Only this one
- 4:03heard something strange. It was like a loud and chilling lament, similar to
- 4:09that of a wolf, but somehow distorted Max got stiff, his ears rose
- 4:15and his eyes were filled with mistrust. Those howls weren' t normal,
- 4:20and my instinct was telling me that we were going into a dangerous situation.
- 4:26I ignored my nerves and we continued to move forward, but the howls persisted
- 4:31ever closer. The forest seemed to hover over us as if their trees had
- 4:35deliberately closed to trap us. I felt like we were being stalked by something
- 4:42I couldn' t see or understand. We finally got to a clearing in
- 4:46the woods. It was when Max stopped dry refusing to take another step and
- 4:50to be honest, something in me also told me that further progress was to
- 4:55look for trouble. The silence ruled from moment to moment, leaving us only
- 5:00listening to the leaves, moving in the wind. Fear took over Max.
- 5:05Suddenly, his body tense and receded with a terrified grunt. Before turning around
- 5:11and running in the opposite direction, I found myself paralyzed for a moment.
- 5:16My heart was pounding in my chest, but I knew I should follow Max,
- 5:20because I couldn' t let anything happen to him. I ran out
- 5:26after him getting deeper into the dense darkness of the forest. The night was
- 5:30oppressive and every shadow seemed to come to life of its own. My mind
- 5:34was filled with terrifying thoughts fueled by my cousin' s stories about skinwalkers and
- 5:41my own research. But I struggled with panic, saying to myself that I
- 5:46had only suggested. My main concern was to find max I knew how much
- 5:54my uncle loved that dog and I couldn' t let anything happen to him.
- 5:58The darkness of the night haunted me and my anguish grew with every step
- 6:01I took in that seemingly endless forest. While I was running I was trying
- 6:10to calm myself down I kept repeating in my mind that I had to find
- 6:14Maxi, that everything would be fine, but the howl of an owl in
- 6:17the distance seemed to mock my courage. Newly found, I realized I had
- 6:20no idea where I was headed anymore. I had completely lost track of direction
- 6:26and did not know if I was further away from the security of the cabin
- 6:30or near the place where I had seen the strange creature. Then in the
- 6:35middle of the darkness, I heard something that made my heart stop. It
- 6:41was a pitiful sound, like a dog crying. There was no doubt in
- 6:46my mind it was Max. However, the sadness in that crying was disturbing.
- 6:50I began to look for the source of the sound striving to open my
- 6:56way through thick weeds, but suddenly, the crying stopped abruptly as if someone
- 7:02had covered the dog' s mouth. The silence that followed was frightening and
- 7:06my anxiety increased. I began to call Max by his name with my voice
- 7:13shaking in the night, Max Max, where you are murmuring in the middle
- 7:19of the darkness, the flashlight in my hand trembled throwing erratic flashes of light.
- 7:25I kept calling my dog with my voice full of anxiety and then,
- 7:30between the weeds and the trees. I heard heavy gasps like an exhausted dog.
- 7:36That encouraged me to keep calling Max and to open my way to him.
- 7:41The hope of finding him safely moved me despite the fear I felt,
- 7:46but what I heard next made my blood freeze in my veins. The words
- 7:51that resounded at night were unintelligible, as if someone tried to speak in an
- 7:57unknown language. The syllables were mixed into an inconsistent murmur and the air was
- 8:03filled with a malevolent presence. Suddenly, snoring and distorted words managed to emerge
- 8:09from that chaos of sounds Max repeated a voice that seemed chillingly familiar to me.
- 8:18I imitated my call to the dog and that made my fear intensify as
- 8:22I moved toward the voice. The shadows dissipated and the full moon cast its
- 8:28light on the emerging figure. What I saw before my eyes filled me with
- 8:31indescribable terror. It was a deer, but not an ordinary one. The
- 8:37deer stood upright in an unnatural posture for an animal of its species. His
- 8:43face was in cheeky parts, revealing bones and rotting flesh. Their asses were
- 8:48grotesquely large and twisted and seemed to emanate a supernatural darkness. My eyes met
- 8:56those of the deer and in them I saw a malevolent glow that stopped me
- 8:58completely smooth. I was trapped in a living nightmare in front of a creature
- 9:05that should not exist in this world and in the midst of that dark forest
- 9:11in the company of that twisted and terrifying being, I realized that my life
- 9:15was in grave danger. The twisted deer stood in the middle of the forest,
- 9:20with his gaze nailed to me as if he could read my thoughts and
- 9:24feed on my terror. The luminosity of the moon illuminated its deformed figure in
- 9:30a sinister way, revealing every grotesque detail of its appearance. My legs trembled
- 9:37as I remained paralyzed, unable to turn my gaze away from that inhuman being.
- 9:41Fear enveloped me like a cold blanket and my heart beat so hard that
- 9:46I could feel its pulsations in my temples. The deer, or whatever that
- 9:50abomination was, uttered a terrifying and distorted sound that resembled a dog' s
- 9:56grunt, but was stained with undeniable malevolence. I began to slowly recede without
- 10:05stopping to look at it with the flashlight shaking in my hand. That'
- 10:09s when I noticed that the creature was trying to imitate me. He uttered
- 10:13words inconsistently, trying to articulate sounds that resembled my voice calling Max, the
- 10:18deer repeated the dog' s name, but his voice was snoring and torn,
- 10:22as if his vocal cords had undergone a grotesque mutation. The deer began
- 10:31to move slowly towards me. His twisted limbs moved in an unsettling way.
- 10:35His gaze never turned away from mine and his empty eye sockets seemed to absorb
- 10:41the moonlight. Every step he took resonated in the forest as if the ground
- 10:46itself was whispering his advance. I realized I had to get away from that
- 10:52nightmare that I had to find Max and escape from that cursed place. I
- 10:56stepped back a few steps, keeping the distance and giving it between us.
- 11:01I turned around and started running away from the creature and looking for any trace
- 11:05of my dog. In the distance, through the trees, I sensed a
- 11:09flash of movement. It was Max gasping and with his eyes full of terror
- 11:16but alive. He seemed to have found a hiding place in the middle of
- 11:18the bush. His presence filled me with relief and I understood that I should
- 11:24reach him and turn away from that horror. I started moving towards Max,
- 11:28calling him by name, in an attempt to lead him to me. The
- 11:33words seemed to comfort him and his gasps became more intense as we approached the
- 11:39hope of recovering my faithful friend I was given strength to move on. However,
- 11:46in the midst of thick, dark weeds, something disturbing happened. Max
- 11:52' s gasps became more disturbing and a feeling of discomfort came over me.
- 11:58I couldn' t see it clearly, but he was sure it was nearby
- 12:01hidden between the bushes and the trees. I kept calling him, trying to
- 12:07calm him down and lead him to me, but all of a sudden,
- 12:13the gasps stopped abruptly and the silence that followed was more frightening than any sound
- 12:18I had heard before. The panic gripped me as I kept calling Max.
- 12:22Desperately, I went deeper into the weeds, moving the branches and leaves away
- 12:28in search of my dog. The darkness of the forest hovered over me and
- 12:33fear was mixed with uncertainty. I didn' t know if I was heading
- 12:37towards my faithful companion or a trap from that nightmare being. Suddenly, when
- 12:43I was about to give up and back down, I heard a sound that
- 12:48frozen my blood in my veins. It was a voice, a voice that
- 12:52was trying to imitate mine by pronouncing Max' s name. The syllables were
- 12:56inconsistent at first, but gradually they became clearer as if someone was learning to
- 13:01speak Max. Max mumbled his voice snoring and distorted. I felt a chill
- 13:09running around my spine as I approached the origin of the sound, unable to
- 13:15turn away the gaze of the full moon that lit the way, and then
- 13:20under the moonlight I saw it again was the twisted deer, standing upright,
- 13:24its broken face and its grotesquely large and twisted asses, I was imitating my
- 13:31voice and calling Max the same way I did. My eyes met those of
- 13:37the creature and in those dark bottomless wells I saw an indescribable evil. The
- 13:43deer was standing there in the shadows, with his supernatural presence and his macabre
- 13:48imitation of my voice. The full moon shed its light on the scene,
- 13:52illuminating the twisted deer in a surreal way. Its empty eye sockets seemed to
- 13:58absorb the moon' s own light, creating a hypnotic and terrifying effect.
- 14:03At the same time his broken mouth opened and closed with difficulty, emitting sounds
- 14:09that imitated my voice calling Max over and over again my mind was debated between
- 14:13horror and unbelief. And it is that, since something like that might have
- 14:18been happening to me, that creature in front of me challenged all logic and
- 14:24rational explanation. It was perhaps the dreaded Walkers skit, which my cousin had
- 14:28mentioned in his account. It couldn' t be real, but my eyes
- 14:33couldn' t deny the evidence before them. The deer advanced a few steps
- 14:39towards me with his twisted, threateningly high asses. Every step he took resonated
- 14:43in the forest. Lunar luminosity intensified the details of her pale, torn skin,
- 14:50making my heart beat even faster. The feeling of being trapped in a
- 14:56nightmare became stronger and I knew I had to find a way to escape that
- 15:01terrifying situation. My first instinct was to back off and run away, but
- 15:07the concern for Max kept me paralyzed. I knew I couldn' t leave
- 15:11my dog no matter how strange and terrifying that creature was. Keeping my gaze
- 15:16fixed on the twisted deer, I began to move slowly to one side,
- 15:22trying to surround it and reach Max, who was still hidden in the weeds.
- 15:28Every step I took was a challenge and my breathing became more audible in
- 15:31the midst of growing tension. The creature didn' t seem interested in me
- 15:37at the time. I kept calling Max in my distorted voice with his creepy
- 15:43imitations. This gave me a small advantage, allowing me to move forward without
- 15:48being intercepted by the deer. I finally got to the location, where Max
- 15:52had hidden in the shadow. I could see his eyes filled with terror,
- 15:58but at least he was safe. For the moment, my heart was beating
- 16:02with relief when I saw my faithful friend and knelt beside him, fondly caressing
- 16:06him. But we couldn' t stay there forever. I knew we had
- 16:11to find a way to escape from that cursed place and get away from the
- 16:17creature that was stalking us. Max seemed to understand the urgency of the situation
- 16:21and was ready to follow me. However, the creature did not leave us
- 16:26alone. He continued his macabre imitations and approached slowly. I didn' t
- 16:33have much choice, but I decided to make a desperate attempt. I took
- 16:37my bottle of whiskey with a piece of cloth from my shirt. I lit
- 16:40fire to it pointing directly at the twisted deer. The light of fire cut
- 16:45off the darkness of the night and the creature issued a sharp and painful alarm.
- 16:51The fire appeared to have hit the target back and his decomposed face twisted
- 16:56in pain. That was my chance to catch my escape, followed by my
- 17:00dog. Taking advantage of the temporal advantage that the light gave me, I
- 17:07started a race through the dark forest, leading to max with me. Fear
- 17:11and adrenaline were pumping through my body. As he ran, knowing that the
- 17:17creature could recover at any moment and pursue us. The branches and leaves creaked
- 17:22beneath our feet and the forest looked like an endless labyrinth. The full moon
- 17:26continued to illuminate our way, but its light seemed insufficient to dispel the darkness
- 17:33around us. As we advanced, the creature' s distorted howlings faded away,
- 17:40but I could not afford to let my guard down. I knew I
- 17:45had to find a safe place for Max and me. Far from the nightmare
- 17:48we had faced, we continued to run without knowing whether we were escaping danger
- 17:56or simply getting deeper into the forest trap. The darkness and uncertainty were overwhelming,
- 18:03but my determination to protect Max drove me forward. The night seemed eternal,
- 18:10but I finally found an improvised shelter in the middle of thick weeds,
- 18:15made sure Max was safe before taking a deep breath and looking around us.
- 18:21The twisted creature was no longer in sight, but I knew that I could
- 18:25not lower my guard my mind was full of unanswered questions that was that creature
- 18:33why I had imitated and called Max. My cousin' s stories about the
- 18:37skinwalkers seemed more real than ever. We spent the night in that makeshift shelter
- 18:44with Max next to me and the flashlight on, keeping the darkness at bay.
- 18:48Every sound of the forest filled me with restlessness and my eyes remained alert,
- 18:53searching for any sign of danger. As dawn had the sky of pink
- 18:59and golden tones. I knew we should find our way back to my uncles
- 19:04' cabin. We couldn' t stay in that cursed forest any longer How
- 19:11Max. By my side we set out on the way back following the trail
- 19:15we had left the night before. The terrifying experience we had experienced will never
- 19:21be erased from my memory and unanswered questions will continue to haunt me. That
- 19:26trip to the United States had brought with it much more than I had imagined,
- 19:30and the shadows of the forest and the mystery of the skinwalkers would remain
- 19:36in my mind forever. Anonymous account
