- 0:16Speaker 1: Do you know why they call it show business?
- 0:18Speaker 3: I always wondered that.
- 0:25Speaker 2: Welcome back to artists on artists on artists on artists.
- 0:28Speaker 2: Today We've got a surprise for you.
- 0:32Speaker 3: Hollywood is about stories in places, places with things.
- 0:38Speaker 5: Location scouts are the people that find those places. So
- 0:41Speaker 5: we gave our equipment to the team behind Ryan Murphy's
- 0:46Speaker 5: Best Locations. Join them and see on what it's like
- 0:50Speaker 5: to be a location scout. Let's buckle up and listen.
- 0:53Speaker 5: In warning, do not talk about the industry while driving.
- 1:01Speaker 2: Hey a a a away pod. We're some of the
- 1:04Speaker 2: location scouts. We took our podcast stuff on the road
- 1:08Speaker 2: this time, so you guys could just jump in right
- 1:11Speaker 2: into the action while we talk about what it means
- 1:14Speaker 2: to be a location scout.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Yeah, so feel free to tag along with us as
- 1:18Speaker 1: we head out on the road looking out for this
- 1:20Speaker 1: next project of Ryan Murphy's.
- 1:22Speaker 6: It's a real, real Ryan Murphy's show.
- 1:27Speaker 2: I'm pumped.
- 1:28Speaker 6: I am, I'm quite excited.
- 1:30Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm so sorry to interrupt. Can we get a
- 1:32Speaker 3: picture of that tree?
- 1:33Speaker 2: Oh yeah, that's a good one.
- 1:36Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:36Speaker 3: Hold Holly, get a picture of that tree for me.
- 1:38Speaker 6: Okay, for the listeners.
- 1:40Speaker 1: It looks like a sort of some would say a
- 1:43Speaker 1: palm tree.
- 1:45Speaker 3: So in the script, Guy, in the script there on
- 1:49Speaker 3: page hard, I think there's a scene breakdown and it
- 1:52Speaker 3: says desolate area tree slanted to the side, almost like
- 1:57Speaker 3: Jenny's imagination. So we're looking for a you have.
- 2:00Speaker 2: Some sort gosh, so you're.
- 2:03Speaker 3: Shorty interrupt you guys. That's what it is to be
- 2:04Speaker 3: a location scout, is I am constantly looking out the way.
- 2:08Speaker 6: You gotta have an eagle eye. You gotta have an
- 2:09Speaker 6: eagle eye.
- 2:10Speaker 3: And what I'm doing is I'm thinking about every scene
- 2:12Speaker 3: description on that script. They fly they fly through like
- 2:16Speaker 3: cards in my head.
- 2:17Speaker 1: Yeah, exterior sex motel night, exterior sex motel day, exterior
- 2:25Speaker 1: sex motel, but versaci. Those are a lot of the
- 2:28Speaker 1: descriptions that we're getting from mister Murphy.
- 2:30Speaker 2: And those are three different locations.
- 2:32Speaker 1: Those are very different locations.
- 2:34Speaker 4: And he likes them.
- 2:35Speaker 5: Clean and he likes the big.
- 2:38Speaker 2: You know. I'll start. My name is Brian o'hula han.
- 2:41Speaker 2: I've been a scout for about three years now. I've
- 2:44Speaker 2: been on this team for about six months, and I
- 2:47Speaker 2: am loving it. I feel like we have such a
- 2:48Speaker 2: good juju. They're such good vibes, and a lot of
- 2:52Speaker 2: our job is it's spent at in cars and planes
- 2:55Speaker 2: and checking out locations. So I'm really happy to be
- 2:58Speaker 2: on this team with everybody.
- 3:00Speaker 1: I'm Fay Murphy. I am Ryan Murphy's older sister. I
- 3:04Speaker 1: just happened to be a location scout this. He didn't
- 3:07Speaker 1: get me into this, didn't he didn't get me nothing. Okay,
- 3:10Speaker 1: I worked my way up. I'm about twenty years senior
- 3:13Speaker 1: to Ryan Murphy and I do when I'm on the
- 3:16Speaker 1: job refer to him as mister Murphy. It's a sign
- 3:19Speaker 1: of respect. But this is just part of the gig,
- 3:22Speaker 1: you know. So I'm happy to be on the road
- 3:24Speaker 1: with you guys.
- 3:26Speaker 3: I am Sierra, Nevada. Yeah, Sierra of the Sea. I
- 3:36Speaker 3: have been interning as a scout for ten years, actually
- 3:40Speaker 3: waiting to get on staff, but I've just I've been
- 3:44Speaker 3: in production ever since I moved for Emerson College. I
- 3:47Speaker 3: did like a.
- 3:50Speaker 2: Great school, great great locations.
- 3:53Speaker 3: I've been in LA for a really long time and
- 3:55Speaker 3: I've done this internship for a really long time.
- 3:59Speaker 5: My name is Brent Murphy, but everyone calls me Honk
- 4:03Speaker 5: because I usually drive the car on the scouts. I've
- 4:07Speaker 5: been working with Ryan Murphy since Niptuck, so that's been
- 4:10Speaker 5: about thirty five years.
- 4:13Speaker 2: He did Nip Tuck, Yeah, he was.
- 4:15Speaker 5: That was his first big show, Nip Tuck, and that
- 4:18Speaker 5: was pretty easy because it was, you know, all one
- 4:21Speaker 5: plastic searches office inside. So we were doing a lot
- 4:24Speaker 5: of the locations scouting of studios, which is another thing
- 4:27Speaker 5: that location scouts do. You don't think about that a lot,
- 4:29Speaker 5: but a lot of studios are to be honest pieces
- 4:32Speaker 5: of shit. I don't go back to Ratford, I won't
- 4:34Speaker 5: go back to Warner Brothers, and I will not ever
- 4:38Speaker 5: go back to Rally Studios ever in my life.
- 4:41Speaker 3: That's quite a lot of them.
- 4:42Speaker 5: Yeah, Riley Rally is honestly, I would I call it
- 4:45Speaker 5: run by rats RBR It is rats rats.
- 4:49Speaker 3: I famously have never clogged a toilet, so I know
- 4:53Speaker 3: I was.
- 4:54Speaker 5: Gonna say, I can't believe you didn't put that in
- 4:56Speaker 5: your intro because you are famous, I mean famous.
- 5:00Speaker 3: Here's the thing, the old because I famously in my
- 5:02Speaker 3: family and amongst the Scouts, because you get used to
- 5:05Speaker 3: each other on the road, I poop little pebbles. And
- 5:08Speaker 3: the only toilet and fucked up plumbing system I've ever plunged,
- 5:13Speaker 3: I mean clogged is Radford CBS Radford.
- 5:17Speaker 2: So famously you have actually so yeah.
- 5:20Speaker 3: So I had famously not. And then we went to
- 5:22Speaker 3: that piece of shit studio.
- 5:23Speaker 2: Okay, wait, wait, gellaher real estate. That could be perfect
- 5:28Speaker 2: a perfect sight sex dungeon for the next show.
- 5:30Speaker 6: Yeah, that'd be great, perfect one four.
- 5:33Speaker 1: I was just thinking that when Lady Gaga sucks off
- 5:36Speaker 1: that vampire.
- 5:37Speaker 2: Yeahats the dick of that vampire?
- 5:40Speaker 5: Well, because the outside of that sex dungeon needs to
- 5:43Speaker 5: look like a real estate office.
- 5:44Speaker 2: Yeah, so we could just use the same the same
- 5:46Speaker 2: sign and everything.
- 5:47Speaker 3: We could use it.
- 5:47Speaker 6: Yeah, we don't even have to change it.
- 5:49Speaker 3: Yeah, I'll write that down. This, write that down. Can
- 5:51Speaker 3: you text that to Jake, see if you can get get.
- 5:56Speaker 5: First Man's missing this, you know, the one who set
- 6:00Speaker 5: up this whole podcast thing. So it's a real bummer
- 6:03Speaker 5: he's involved, but to be honest, you know he he
- 6:06Speaker 5: doesn't do good in cars.
- 6:08Speaker 2: Very sound.
- 6:09Speaker 1: No, he's the only location to scout I know who's
- 6:12Speaker 1: working on bike and bike alone.
- 6:14Speaker 3: Yea bike pretty insane. But we actually do a lot
- 6:18Speaker 3: of our stuff in cars together, so we don't have
- 6:20Speaker 3: to schedule meetings because we all got to drive there anyway.
- 6:24Speaker 3: It works, it works out.
- 6:26Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:26Speaker 5: One of my jokes, I like to say a lot
- 6:27Speaker 5: of these guys have heard this joke a lot of times.
- 6:29Speaker 5: You know, Jerry Seinfeld has comedians and cars getting coffee. Well,
- 6:32Speaker 5: we were scouts in cars getting pictures.
- 6:35Speaker 2: Yeah, we hear that joke a lot.
- 6:39Speaker 1: You know, I repurposed that joke all the time. I
- 6:41Speaker 1: tell it at dinner parties.
- 6:42Speaker 5: It's a huge freaking honk that that was what that
- 6:47Speaker 5: was on American Crime Story. O. J.
- 6:50Speaker 3: Simpson, Right, yeah, yeah, Now can we can we talk
- 6:52Speaker 3: about a bitch of a project that was a bit
- 6:56Speaker 3: of a that was a bitch of a project. And
- 6:57Speaker 3: I remember I just graduated college. I felt like and
- 7:00Speaker 3: it was like that project was hard. Specifically, we had
- 7:05Speaker 3: to scout a lot of just like parking lots, right,
- 7:09Speaker 3: and a lot of exteriors. I love my favorite things
- 7:14Speaker 3: to scout our interiors. Exteriors are hard.
- 7:16Speaker 1: For me because, oh yeah, what is everybody an exterior
- 7:20Speaker 1: or an interior guy?
- 7:22Speaker 5: Oh man, that's like trying to pick a child, you
- 7:25Speaker 5: know what I mean, that's trying to pict a son.
- 7:28Speaker 2: I'll choose a child. I love exteriors for me. Something
- 7:32Speaker 2: about the outside, really, you know, gets me. It's I
- 7:36Speaker 2: don't know, activating.
- 7:38Speaker 3: We remember when we were scouting the part of the
- 7:40Speaker 3: four oh five that that the Bronco is gone.
- 7:44Speaker 5: Let's talk about that because remember we cleared that we
- 7:46Speaker 5: got that specific spot, and then the mayor wouldn't let
- 7:51Speaker 5: us do it there.
- 7:52Speaker 1: But you know what they always say, the enemy of
- 7:56Speaker 1: my enemy is my friend. Well my enemy is the
- 7:58Speaker 1: mayor Eric Garcetti.
- 8:00Speaker 3: So it turns out oj was my friend, truly, truly,
- 8:03Speaker 3: And let me tell you scouting different parts of a
- 8:05Speaker 3: beige freeway there's no art in that. It's hard, and.
- 8:10Speaker 5: Let's talk about it. We shot Alameda Boulevard in Burbank
- 8:14Speaker 5: for the four h five, and that show what a.
- 8:16Speaker 2: Tough day we had to clear so many cars out.
- 8:19Speaker 2: We stopped Burbank for a whole day. The industry collapsed,
- 8:22Speaker 2: a couple of places had to close down.
- 8:23Speaker 1: Yeah, I think the stock market took a pretty hefty tumble.
- 8:26Speaker 3: I guess Portos couldn't pay the rent that right.
- 8:28Speaker 5: We had to put a bunch of tarps over Yaki's
- 8:30Speaker 5: hot dog. And they can look like the side of
- 8:35Speaker 5: a side of a highway place.
- 8:37Speaker 6: Maybe's dry clean the.
- 8:41Speaker 2: Yeah, looked like a six lane highway with a carpool.
- 8:45Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 8:45Speaker 3: And here's our thing.
- 8:46Speaker 2: Here's for you see both sides. You see both sides,
- 8:50Speaker 2: so it's technically twelve lanes.
- 8:52Speaker 3: Twelve lanes. And here's the thing that people don't know
- 8:54Speaker 3: about location scouts are when we call Art Department is
- 8:58Speaker 3: when we are taking a risk. When we call them,
- 9:01Speaker 3: when we say we need this to look like a
- 9:03Speaker 3: six lane freeway. They even when they see our name
- 9:07Speaker 3: pop up since at Murphy Productions, they know we're about
- 9:11Speaker 3: to ask them to make the impossible possible.
- 9:13Speaker 2: Well, that is the biggest thing. And this is a
- 9:15Speaker 2: little insider secret. If you want to get into location scouts,
- 9:18Speaker 2: you need to know one word in one phrase. That
- 9:20Speaker 2: is the cheat. And what the cheat is. It's taking
- 9:23Speaker 2: a location and cheating it for another location, like right,
- 9:27Speaker 2: now where we're driving, or we could cheat any of
- 9:30Speaker 2: this stuff. We could cheat that tree into a Christmas tree.
- 9:32Speaker 2: We could treat this empty mountain into a house. You know,
- 9:35Speaker 2: it's just like a lot of different things you can cheat.
- 9:38Speaker 2: You know, I've seen.
- 9:39Speaker 3: I've seen some of you guys cheat almost anything.
- 9:42Speaker 1: For I think was when we shot UCLA for Disneyland.
- 9:49Speaker 5: That was crazy.
- 9:50Speaker 3: Now, poor our department, I think think those poor guys.
- 9:55Speaker 6: Have not set them up for success.
- 9:57Speaker 3: Because that was a harrd phone call to make.
- 9:59Speaker 5: As the I would say the location scout our department
- 10:02Speaker 5: relationship is a bit of frenemies. You know, we're dealing
- 10:04Speaker 5: in realities and they're dealing in fantasy. And sometimes we
- 10:08Speaker 5: force a reality onto them and say good luck making
- 10:10Speaker 5: this a fantasy.
- 10:11Speaker 3: I'd say, well, we don't want to do our job.
- 10:15Speaker 2: When we can't clear Disneyland or a giant parking lot,
- 10:18Speaker 2: we start beginning resource.
- 10:19Speaker 5: Yeah, I would say, when when we go on autopilot
- 10:21Speaker 5: is when their job gets a lot harder and.
- 10:24Speaker 2: A lot of the time too. It's all about, you know,
- 10:26Speaker 2: who will let you work and how cheap you can
- 10:28Speaker 2: get it, because a parking lot costs money. But if
- 10:30Speaker 2: you pretend that you're a bunch of students making a
- 10:32Speaker 2: short film. You can get you see a usc Yeah.
- 10:36Speaker 3: It was hard. Here's the thing, like, we were up
- 10:38Speaker 3: to our ears in phone calls and permits with knots,
- 10:41Speaker 3: Barry Farm, six Flag yep. And at some point we said,
- 10:43Speaker 3: fuck it, let's just pick that.
- 10:44Speaker 1: Freaking because I don't want to go through the paperwork
- 10:47Speaker 1: of that, so I would rather pass it off to
- 10:49Speaker 1: another department.
- 10:50Speaker 6: Say that's not my job anymore.
- 10:51Speaker 5: I'm fucking working with notts. By the way, every time
- 10:53Speaker 5: I call them, they said, do you want to shoot
- 10:54Speaker 5: in the farm or in the amusement Parker? I said,
- 10:56Speaker 5: where do you think I want to shoot? I'm not
- 10:58Speaker 5: shooting in the berry farm?
- 11:00Speaker 2: Oh my god, I'll go out to the apple orchards
- 11:02Speaker 2: up and fucking to Luca Lake for that.
- 11:06Speaker 4: There's a good apple or lake. There's one in Lake
- 11:08Speaker 4: Elson or.
- 11:09Speaker 3: Oh there's a great one in Tuson that.
- 11:11Speaker 2: I love it. I love driving to apples.
- 11:14Speaker 1: I hate when not it's very far the deserts up
- 11:16Speaker 1: the the the appropriate of Mexican portion of the theme
- 11:20Speaker 1: park that shouldn't be there, and that.
- 11:22Speaker 3: We don't want to shoot.
- 11:23Speaker 2: We don't.
- 11:23Speaker 3: We can't, we can't do it. We call every time
- 11:26Speaker 3: and we say, this is where cast holding is, this
- 11:27Speaker 3: is where background holding is. We're never gonna shoot here.
- 11:30Speaker 3: We're not going to shoot there.
- 11:32Speaker 2: Anybody else? Favorite cheek.
- 11:34Speaker 5: I love to talk favorite cheats.
- 11:37Speaker 3: I haven't worked a ton, but when I was in college,
- 11:41Speaker 3: I was doing another internship.
- 11:44Speaker 6: And so, how long have you been an interning?
- 11:46Speaker 3: I've been well. In Hollywood, they call it half your
- 11:49Speaker 3: life is the intern right, I returning a collective of
- 11:55Speaker 3: like pre college, I did some internships before college, after
- 11:59Speaker 3: high school, during college, and now post college. So I've
- 12:02Speaker 3: been an intern for a collective of i'd say sixteen years.
- 12:06Speaker 1: And I don't know if I I do.
- 12:10Speaker 3: You are you paid? But it depends on the internship
- 12:15Speaker 3: his job. I'm paid fifteen dollars a week.
- 12:19Speaker 6: Okay, so my brother's not paying you.
- 12:22Speaker 3: Yeah, it's like it's coming through the Emerson program fifteen.
- 12:26Speaker 2: How do they get away with that?
- 12:27Speaker 5: Yeah, it's you better talk to your You better talk
- 12:30Speaker 5: to your external programs directors Carry McManus or Larry Franklin
- 12:36Speaker 5: because you you should be getting more money. Yeah.
- 12:39Speaker 3: It's hard though, because as a location scout intern. I'm
- 12:41Speaker 3: always on the phone with other places. Last place I
- 12:45Speaker 3: talked to is my place is am I right, when
- 12:48Speaker 3: was the last time you guys spoke to your landlord
- 12:50Speaker 3: versus somebody else's land.
- 12:52Speaker 2: I own?
- 12:52Speaker 4: I own.
- 12:53Speaker 3: I also I own too bad to get fifteen bucks
- 12:57Speaker 3: in my own.
- 12:59Speaker 1: I own Ryan Murphy's backhouse. I should say, oh wow,
- 13:01Speaker 1: he split up the property. We sort of like split
- 13:04Speaker 1: the the title, the.
- 13:06Speaker 5: Deed owned these Yeah, you owned.
- 13:08Speaker 3: The back house, so the land is like cutting half
- 13:11Speaker 3: kind of.
- 13:11Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 13:12Speaker 3: We worked it out in rusk.
- 13:13Speaker 1: We worked it out in escrow eighty twenty, so I
- 13:16Speaker 1: owned twenty percent of the property. And so if we
- 13:18Speaker 1: ever sell it, it's gonna be kind of a nightmare
- 13:20Speaker 1: because a new family could move into just that backhouse.
- 13:25Speaker 1: But we worked it out. We've got lawyers and we
- 13:27Speaker 1: have a great working relationship. Mister Murphy and I your brother,
- 13:31Speaker 1: mister Murphy, right, yeah, my brother, mister Murphy.
- 13:33Speaker 3: Nice. Anyway, I was just saying, the biggest cheat, the
- 13:35Speaker 3: biggest The only reason why I went into my interstrhyp
- 13:37Speaker 3: really quick is the biggest cheat I saw was in Boston.
- 13:40Speaker 3: I saw Boston Court. They turned there was a small
- 13:49Speaker 3: uh souvenir shop and I saw them turn that into
- 13:54Speaker 3: a seven to eleven, and I was young at the time,
- 13:57Speaker 3: and it blew my mind.
- 14:00Speaker 2: Well, it's one of those early ones where you see
- 14:02Speaker 2: the capabilities where you're like, wow, I guess you could
- 14:05Speaker 2: just turn a regular store into a seven to eleven.
- 14:07Speaker 3: Yeah, I'd say it wasn't the biggest the biggest cheat
- 14:09Speaker 3: I've seen. It was probably my first cheat i've seen.
- 14:11Speaker 5: Yeah. Ye, my biggest cheat was American Crime Story Impeachment.
- 14:16Speaker 5: I cheated a to Pega Canyon Bungalo for the Oval Office.
- 14:20Speaker 3: That is Hank right there. That is a Honk specialty.
- 14:24Speaker 1: And it's amazing that you accomplished that when you're mostly driving.
- 14:27Speaker 5: Yeah, absolutely absolutely.
- 14:30Speaker 1: I'm making text We could communicate with people, but you're
- 14:32Speaker 1: up there on the road.
- 14:33Speaker 5: I'm the getaway guy. You know, we see something and
- 14:36Speaker 5: we get out of there. But I'm the first person
- 14:37Speaker 5: out the door because I know how the doors work,
- 14:39Speaker 5: because they get in them a bunch. And what's crazy is,
- 14:42Speaker 5: and it sounds crazier than it is, there is some
- 14:44Speaker 5: freak into Pegga Canyon that builds a house that looks
- 14:46Speaker 5: exactly like the Oval Office. Wow, so it sounds crazier, but.
- 14:50Speaker 3: It you know, you'd be surprised, especially with Airbnb these days,
- 14:54Speaker 3: there's some freaks out.
- 14:55Speaker 1: Well, can we talk about how annoying all the people
- 14:58Speaker 1: who build houses specifically so that they can get filmed
- 15:02Speaker 1: in such pigmies.
- 15:04Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm not gonna go see you mother, Oh, we
- 15:08Speaker 3: see you, don't.
- 15:09Speaker 1: We look like big little lives? Look it up nice
- 15:11Speaker 1: our houses.
- 15:12Speaker 6: It's not that nice.
- 15:13Speaker 3: Not that nice. They all think it's nice.
- 15:15Speaker 2: I'd rather cheat a chuck e cheese for a freaking
- 15:17Speaker 2: big little eyes house than usually.
- 15:18Speaker 3: When you got fernie pads on your floor. When we
- 15:20Speaker 3: walk in, we know you're ready for the crew to.
- 15:23Speaker 5: At least the pads in the closet.
- 15:27Speaker 6: It's it's thirsty, it's desperate.
- 15:29Speaker 5: Well, let's let's talk about to you know, do you
- 15:31Speaker 5: guys ever get remorse that we're You know, sometimes I'll
- 15:33Speaker 5: go into a location and the family will be so
- 15:36Speaker 5: nice and kind, and I'll feel remorse because I know
- 15:39Speaker 5: we're gonna wreck that just completely ruined.
- 15:43Speaker 3: For this Murphy's job.
- 15:45Speaker 1: Because honest, yeah, mister Murphy loves he loves to throw
- 15:50Speaker 1: some fake blood around a kitchen.
- 15:51Speaker 2: I will screen Queen's episode where we blew up that house.
- 15:55Speaker 2: Did nice? Family of five just covered the walls of bloodlin.
- 15:59Speaker 2: We did fix it. They were in the guest room.
- 16:01Speaker 2: We blew them up too. We forgot to tell them
- 16:03Speaker 2: and they blew up too. Logistical nightmare, but at least
- 16:08Speaker 2: anyone wants to do this.
- 16:09Speaker 1: I don't know why anyone wants to volunteer their house.
- 16:12Speaker 1: I mean, for what we're paying, there's risk.
- 16:15Speaker 3: Of death, run, don't walk.
- 16:17Speaker 2: I sometimes offer up my house, but really only to
- 16:20Speaker 2: short film stuff where they're not really changing much. They
- 16:23Speaker 2: don't have the budget to ruin things, and if they
- 16:25Speaker 2: mess up I'm going to sue their asses hard because
- 16:27Speaker 2: I know they don't have insurance.
- 16:29Speaker 3: You know, remember the cathedral we wrecked the shit out of.
- 16:32Speaker 3: Oh yeah, that was sad.
- 16:35Speaker 2: Yeah, the old mission for Ratchet, right for Ratchet. I
- 16:40Speaker 2: remember one of my favorite cheats I ever saw. I
- 16:43Speaker 2: don't know if this was a Ryan Murphy project. It wasn't.
- 16:46Speaker 2: It was before his time. I saw we had to
- 16:49Speaker 2: get a talking about Burbank. We turned downtown Burbank into
- 16:53Speaker 2: Jamaica into Ocherios Jamaica, and that was a fucking shit show.
- 17:00Speaker 2: You would not believe. It was tough trying to explain people.
- 17:03Speaker 2: We had to move in so many trees. It was.
- 17:05Speaker 5: We had to put all those absolute those Rosta hats
- 17:08Speaker 5: on the flood Rockers sign.
- 17:09Speaker 2: Yeah. And by the way, we were doing very very
- 17:12Speaker 2: stereotypical Jamaica. We weren't going that was art.
- 17:15Speaker 3: We said, guys, let's be honest.
- 17:17Speaker 2: Yeah, that was an episode of Dave.
- 17:19Speaker 5: They said, you're going to phone it in. We're going
- 17:20Speaker 5: to phone it in, and it was a phone and off.
- 17:24Speaker 3: We did that a lot, especially with Greg and he
- 17:28Speaker 3: did all the art for American crime stories both Gregman.
- 17:33Speaker 5: Yeah, he's our enemy in the art department.
- 17:36Speaker 1: Look the enemy, and my enemy is my friend, but
- 17:38Speaker 1: the art department is my enemy.
- 17:40Speaker 3: Amen to that. I've never heard something better. Oh oh oh,
- 17:44Speaker 3: oh oh oh.
- 17:46Speaker 1: Cactus, Cactus, Cactus. We gotta text that. Yeah, we gotta
- 17:50Speaker 1: run that by Jake. We gotta run that by Jake.
- 17:53Speaker 5: You guys want to talk about the schedule we got today.
- 17:55Speaker 5: We always have an extensive because before we bring the
- 17:58Speaker 5: directors run it down.
- 18:00Speaker 2: So basically what we did we all woke up at
- 18:02Speaker 2: about four thirty am this morning. We met up my
- 18:05Speaker 2: place because I have nope street parking, I'll hop in
- 18:08Speaker 2: a car. We start driving, all hop in a car,
- 18:13Speaker 2: start driving around four forty five, get some coffee. While
- 18:17Speaker 2: we're getting cofee, we're scouting coffee because we have a
- 18:20Speaker 2: couple of coffee shops that we have to shoot for
- 18:22Speaker 2: this season. A lot of people getting sucked off and
- 18:25Speaker 2: fucked in coffee shops and dying and stuff.
- 18:27Speaker 5: Yeah, you know, myfriendriend asked me when does it end
- 18:30Speaker 5: because we go on dates and stuff, and I'm was like,
- 18:32Speaker 5: this could be a good place and on dat we're
- 18:35Speaker 5: going on dates again. Yeah, there was a while where
- 18:37Speaker 5: we weren't going on dates anymore, me and my boyfriend.
- 18:39Speaker 5: But we're going we're back to going on dates.
- 18:40Speaker 1: Good.
- 18:40Speaker 3: I'm glad you're going on.
- 18:41Speaker 1: It's stuck because they know you're working. They know you're
- 18:43Speaker 1: working when you're looking around, when you're saying, oh.
- 18:45Speaker 3: This is a nice museum. Working.
- 18:48Speaker 2: Yeah, you're working right now.
- 18:49Speaker 3: Oh I can't even take out my phone because my
- 18:53Speaker 3: partner is gonna go, don't you dare take a picture
- 18:55Speaker 3: of that ceiling? And I said, well that ceiling I
- 18:57Speaker 3: can fit a twelve pound crane.
- 19:00Speaker 5: Yeah. Yeah, And every time I ask questions to a
- 19:02Speaker 5: waiter at a restaurant. My boyfriend says, keep it Germaine,
- 19:05Speaker 5: Keep it Germaine, because I'll ask a couple of questions
- 19:07Speaker 5: and then I'll say, and what's the capacity of this restaurant?
- 19:09Speaker 2: And they'll say, do you guys have a generator? Or
- 19:11Speaker 2: can we plug in?
- 19:13Speaker 3: You know, sometimes they go, can I think seventeen trucks
- 19:16Speaker 3: in the back of this ami chase pizza? Can I
- 19:20Speaker 3: fit seventeen or two?
- 19:23Speaker 2: So back to the schedule. We wake up off thee
- 19:26Speaker 2: after coffee, we start our drive and basically this is
- 19:28Speaker 2: where you've met us. We're doing a drive to a
- 19:31Speaker 2: train to Boston. So we're driving our car to the
- 19:34Speaker 2: Little Rock, a Little Rock, Arkansas, and then hopping on
- 19:37Speaker 2: a train all the way up to Boston. It's about
- 19:39Speaker 2: what three four days that we got to travel.
- 19:41Speaker 5: And that's why it was so significant to see that
- 19:43Speaker 5: cactus because they're so rare out.
- 19:44Speaker 1: Here, feeling rare. They're really rare out here. And where
- 19:47Speaker 1: are we Boston? I can't even tell.
- 19:49Speaker 2: I think we're off the way.
- 19:50Speaker 5: I think we're somewhere between Arkansas and Boston.
- 19:52Speaker 3: I went to college, and we're not the train. Yet
- 19:53Speaker 3: that's the college.
- 19:55Speaker 1: Okay, So you would you say we're in like Texas?
- 19:58Speaker 2: I think now, I don't look at a map New Mexico.
- 20:03Speaker 1: Podcast, the map, honcast, the map. I don't know where
- 20:05Speaker 1: we are. All I see your sits. Okay, I'm not
- 20:07Speaker 1: looking at maps. I'm looking at sites.
- 20:09Speaker 5: I know we're on a highway with a number.
- 20:12Speaker 2: But also I would say that I don't want to
- 20:14Speaker 2: know where we are because in my head, I'm living
- 20:16Speaker 2: in the show I want to see. I don't want
- 20:18Speaker 2: to be like a bias because oh, it's in the
- 20:21Speaker 2: mountains of New Mexico. It can't we can't shoot there.
- 20:23Speaker 2: I want to go. Is this American horror story?
- 20:27Speaker 1: You gotta put yourself in the head of mister Murphy.
- 20:28Speaker 1: You got to say, Okay, I'm mister Murphy. I'm putting
- 20:33Speaker 1: Sarah Paulson somewhere that's fucked up. Where am I gonna
- 20:37Speaker 1: put her? Yeah, there are many places where she would
- 20:40Speaker 1: not go, Like look at that that house over there
- 20:43Speaker 1: with the porch. You wouldn't put you would never see Sarah.
- 20:47Speaker 7: Paul She has before, and we've learned she has before well,
- 20:51Speaker 7: and we also have learned very very you know very
- 20:56Speaker 7: much the hard way that Sarah.
- 20:58Speaker 5: Paulson, Uh, her image changes drastically depending on what she's
- 21:03Speaker 5: standing next to. She's almost like a shape shifter. So
- 21:05Speaker 5: we said, we bring photos of her, and we put.
- 21:07Speaker 3: It next to everything. You got to see it. You
- 21:09Speaker 3: gotta got a.
- 21:09Speaker 2: Big bar cut out of her this this time.
- 21:11Speaker 1: Because what we found is that in in regal sort
- 21:14Speaker 1: of classical architecture, she looks very short, but in rustic
- 21:20Speaker 1: barn settings she looks very tall.
- 21:22Speaker 2: Actually, specifically.
- 21:24Speaker 3: She grows impeachment. We bring on the text scout, we
- 21:28Speaker 3: bring an actual stand in or something similar to her
- 21:33Speaker 3: size and stuff.
- 21:34Speaker 6: You can talk about Sarah Paul's and stand in.
- 21:36Speaker 3: She's a freak. She's never said a word.
- 21:37Speaker 5: She's really scary.
- 21:39Speaker 3: She her poker night and I went because I've been
- 21:41Speaker 3: looking for friends ever since I moved out here, really,
- 21:44Speaker 3: and I think I got food poisoning from her doritos?
- 21:52Speaker 2: Was there something on it? Because usually they just go stale.
- 21:55Speaker 2: They're not necessarily a fing.
- 21:57Speaker 3: Some type of dairy in there that may may have
- 21:59Speaker 3: gone back. Wouldn't be dary, not be Darius.
- 22:02Speaker 2: I'm sorry, she homemade.
- 22:03Speaker 3: I don't know. I'm not from here.
- 22:06Speaker 5: I don't think that applies to dishes.
- 22:09Speaker 1: Well, it's hard to make friends.
- 22:12Speaker 2: Well, that's I think why we're so close. I mean
- 22:14Speaker 2: we have to learn. We learn accidentally a lot about
- 22:16Speaker 2: each other, just because we've got hours to kill him.
- 22:18Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, no offense. You guys are my best friends.
- 22:21Speaker 2: No offense at all.
- 22:24Speaker 5: It's a nice thing to say.
- 22:25Speaker 2: It's a nice sentiment, for sure.
- 22:26Speaker 1: And I wouldn't say I wouldn't say that we hang
- 22:29Speaker 1: out outside of this I wouldn't say that we ever
- 22:31Speaker 1: hang out outside of this car. But I mean, my
- 22:34Speaker 1: life is in the car. My life takes place in
- 22:36Speaker 1: this car where Honk is drive.
- 22:37Speaker 3: But I was like, if hanging out is going to
- 22:39Speaker 3: actual sex dungeons when they have off hours taking pictures
- 22:43Speaker 3: of the walls and seeing if they're hollow or not,
- 22:46Speaker 3: then we hang out all the fucking.
- 22:48Speaker 5: Yea and no offense. But all three of you are
- 22:50Speaker 5: my emergency contacts.
- 22:51Speaker 2: Wow? Really?
- 22:52Speaker 5: WHOA?
- 22:53Speaker 3: Well, no offense. I'd love you guys being my wedding.
- 22:55Speaker 2: Oh yeah, no offense taken, No offense.
- 22:58Speaker 1: I am I'm adopting a child and I'm looking for
- 23:00Speaker 1: god parents, and.
- 23:03Speaker 3: You know i'd be honored. I find that offensive because
- 23:05Speaker 3: they hate kids.
- 23:06Speaker 2: I love.
- 23:08Speaker 4: It's nice to be so candid, and we gotta use
- 23:10Speaker 4: Mike's more often.
- 23:11Speaker 2: Well, here's a fun question. I guess what do you
- 23:13Speaker 2: think the juiciest thing we've learned about each other is?
- 23:16Speaker 2: And right before that, look at us, guys, look at
- 23:18Speaker 2: this rock, Look at this rock. This is could be
- 23:20Speaker 2: where that sixty eight right scene sixty eight, the menacing Rock,
- 23:24Speaker 2: the menacing Rock. Yeah, where they do that.
- 23:26Speaker 1: American horse menacing rock. That's the thing with these American horses.
- 23:30Speaker 1: Sure never go away. We got twenty fifty years ahead.
- 23:33Speaker 2: Well that episode of yeah, it's all about the menacing rock.
- 23:35Speaker 2: So right now we're really looking for the most menacing
- 23:38Speaker 2: rock on the road.
- 23:40Speaker 3: I mean even the crime stories I'm worried about, Oh gosh,
- 23:43Speaker 3: American Crime Story Columbine. We got scalp.
- 23:49Speaker 6: About that rock, that rock on hold on that rock.
- 23:52Speaker 3: I have to work for a number of projects. To
- 23:54Speaker 3: be honest.
- 23:54Speaker 6: Actually, I don't think that's menacing. I think that's more terrifying.
- 23:57Speaker 5: And are we okay to spoiled that the new season
- 23:59Speaker 5: is American Crimes, American Horror Story, Menacing Rock.
- 24:02Speaker 4: Are we allowed to spoil.
- 24:03Speaker 3: That I really spoiled American crime story.
- 24:06Speaker 2: Calm well, that's gonna be a mess to find, because
- 24:09Speaker 2: we have to find a high school to school.
- 24:12Speaker 3: Willing to be associated with.
- 24:13Speaker 4: I think I'm gonna skip. I think I'm gonna call
- 24:15Speaker 4: him stick to that job.
- 24:17Speaker 1: I gotta talk to my brother. I gotta talk. I
- 24:19Speaker 1: don't know, I gotta talk to.
- 24:22Speaker 5: What was it like to grow up with him? By
- 24:24Speaker 5: the way in.
- 24:26Speaker 1: Tell us, well, let me let me tell you the
- 24:28Speaker 1: enemy of my enemy.
- 24:30Speaker 2: He is your friend, and he hates the art department,
- 24:33Speaker 2: doesn't he know?
- 24:34Speaker 1: The enemy of my enemy is Halloween because my brother
- 24:38Speaker 1: on Halloween.
- 24:39Speaker 3: Oh, I should imagine you guys had some fucked up
- 24:41Speaker 3: trig or treating.
- 24:42Speaker 6: He kept trying to dress me.
- 24:44Speaker 1: I I would come out of the out of the
- 24:45Speaker 1: closet as a sheet ghost, and he'd say no, no, no,
- 24:49Speaker 1: no no. He'd put a corset on me, he'd put
- 24:51Speaker 1: blood in my brain. He'd just wreck me. He'd wreck me.
- 24:55Speaker 1: And then he'd say, you have to kiss this guy.
- 24:57Speaker 1: You have to kiss this guy. And he's a dead
- 24:59Speaker 1: he's a dead.
- 25:00Speaker 3: Guy, and he's a dead guy dead who is a
- 25:05Speaker 3: freaking dead Guy's the thing. See when I have a
- 25:10Speaker 3: sibling showed me a dead body, I don't think Halloween's triggering.
- 25:13Speaker 3: I think my sibling Ryan, this is just what he did.
- 25:19Speaker 2: You know, this is what he did.
- 25:21Speaker 1: He was just always coming up with dead bodies, with
- 25:24Speaker 1: with hot ladies, with superstars, with vampires, with with aliens.
- 25:29Speaker 1: He was just all over the place. And he I
- 25:31Speaker 1: would wake up in a puddle of blood all the
- 25:34Speaker 1: time and it wasn't real. It was fake and I
- 25:37Speaker 1: could tell by the smell. But he would just come
- 25:40Speaker 1: in and say, sorry, I'm working on something. He was
- 25:43Speaker 1: he was nine years old doing this.
- 25:45Speaker 3: Sorry, I'm working on something from a nine year old.
- 25:47Speaker 1: But this is what you get when when you when
- 25:48Speaker 1: you live with a twisted genius.
- 25:50Speaker 4: You know, I mean, you hear this and you think
- 25:52Speaker 4: he is he does not hate the art department.
- 25:56Speaker 3: Speaking of twisted geniuses, let's talk about worst or best
- 26:00Speaker 3: experiences with a property owner.
- 26:03Speaker 2: Okay, okay. One time I had to play Russian roulette
- 26:09Speaker 2: for a location one time to lock it down. That
- 26:12Speaker 2: was a mess. That was very very intense. Roulette gun
- 26:16Speaker 2: on the table, like gun on the table, one bullet?
- 26:18Speaker 3: What was the location?
- 26:19Speaker 1: It sounds like Tuesday at the Murphy Household.
- 26:23Speaker 2: What was the satiation was this yurt out in Topanga Malibu.
- 26:28Speaker 2: We needed it for a.
- 26:30Speaker 3: Yurt in Mount Yeah.
- 26:30Speaker 2: We needed when I was doing doing the rock Johnson
- 26:32Speaker 2: Scorpion King and he lives in a yurt and we
- 26:36Speaker 2: just could not get off out of California. We had
- 26:40Speaker 2: to stay in La because the rock. So I was,
- 26:43Speaker 2: I was dying. I needed I needed a place. I
- 26:47Speaker 2: needed a yurt. And this crazy guy, he says, I'll
- 26:51Speaker 2: give you it for free. I'll give you all of
- 26:53Speaker 2: what you need for free if you play Russian Roulette
- 26:56Speaker 2: for me, and I said, okay, so we play. He
- 27:01Speaker 2: ends up shooting his jaw off and I don't get
- 27:03Speaker 2: it because he's dead. He didn't sign it over. I
- 27:05Speaker 2: should have ready thought that before that happened. But that
- 27:08Speaker 2: was a mess. That was an absolute that's crazy.
- 27:10Speaker 3: The craziest property manager I ever met on one of
- 27:13Speaker 3: my other internships, and we were working with this woman
- 27:16Speaker 3: who owned this mall. The mall was an Eagle Rock
- 27:20Speaker 3: and we had to get this shot of all these
- 27:23Speaker 3: teenagers running through the mall and she wouldn't let them
- 27:26Speaker 3: wear shoes. She treated the mall like it was her frickin'
- 27:30Speaker 3: antique house, and she made us take our shoes off
- 27:34Speaker 3: before we went into the mall. And our DP says,
- 27:37Speaker 3: guy's floor link shot at the tech Scout, and we said,
- 27:41Speaker 3: what are we going to do? So I took this
- 27:43Speaker 3: property manager and I put her in a closet and
- 27:47Speaker 3: I tied her up. Oh and we got the shot.
- 27:51Speaker 3: I released her. Everyone took their shoes off.
- 27:53Speaker 2: It was done.
- 27:54Speaker 5: You know, I had to. You guys know, Louis runs
- 27:57Speaker 5: Frank's restaurant. It's like every diner every day.
- 28:00Speaker 3: He's got Canters too.
- 28:01Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, his Canters and he does Franks and he
- 28:03Speaker 5: does Cafe one to one, but Franks is the one
- 28:05Speaker 5: in Burbank. They're alway shooting for something else. Recently, it
- 28:08Speaker 5: was in that Euphoria episode with zindaeas a.
- 28:10Speaker 3: Guy right, because he's worked with the well Louis.
- 28:13Speaker 5: He was having a bad week and he was being
- 28:15Speaker 5: difficult that week, and it was one of those things
- 28:17Speaker 5: where where you know he's usually good and we go
- 28:21Speaker 5: way way, way, way way back. I was working with
- 28:24Speaker 5: him on an Amy McDowell movie in nineteen ninety three,
- 28:27Speaker 5: you know what I mean, Like I've known him forever, and.
- 28:29Speaker 3: He got really busy during mumblecore, right because everything was
- 28:32Speaker 3: in a fucking diner.
- 28:33Speaker 5: There was one time I showed up there was a
- 28:36Speaker 5: line around the corner to shoot there. I thought, I said,
- 28:39Speaker 5: are people waiting to eat here? I said, no, we're
- 28:41Speaker 5: waiting to shoot here.
- 28:42Speaker 4: Two class brothers were standing there was it just like
- 28:46Speaker 4: a two hour.
- 28:46Speaker 5: Ken Wapis was standing sitting days and days and they
- 28:50Speaker 5: would do nine ten hour shifts. But they wouldn't leave
- 28:52Speaker 5: because then everyone else be leave. So he said, I'm
- 28:54Speaker 5: too busy for this. What I had to do, I
- 28:56Speaker 5: had to surprise him. I had to convince his life
- 29:00Speaker 5: to take her to take him to Vegas. And I
- 29:04Speaker 5: surprised him and we all went to Vegas as a trip,
- 29:06Speaker 5: and I said, I told the team, I said, hey,
- 29:09Speaker 5: you guys, handle this. You know, I am going to
- 29:12Speaker 5: go take Louis to Vegas and this is the best
- 29:14Speaker 5: use of my time. And so I went to Vegas
- 29:17Speaker 5: with Louis. We stayed at the wind Beyond Core. Actually
- 29:21Speaker 5: we actually sported and we got into Franks and they
- 29:25Speaker 5: shot at Frank's and that was the best episode of
- 29:30Speaker 5: Barks in our creation that has ever happened, so damn.
- 29:36Speaker 2: Parts of Recreation. That's just a bar scene, that's just
- 29:38Speaker 2: a diner.
- 29:39Speaker 5: Scene, just a diner scene. It's really really.
- 29:41Speaker 1: Just a bottle episode, just Leslie and Ron just going
- 29:45Speaker 1: for it.
- 29:46Speaker 5: Yeah, and it's it's it's they they kind of you know,
- 29:48Speaker 5: they were really pushing at the time, alluding to, you know,
- 29:52Speaker 5: Leslie Jones being a Hillary Clinton type.
- 29:54Speaker 2: Yeah, it wasn't Leslie. The character in the show, Leslie
- 29:56Speaker 2: Jones was Leslie.
- 29:58Speaker 3: Jones, that bottle star Leslie Jones, Leslie Jones, and Parks
- 30:03Speaker 3: of rec.
- 30:04Speaker 5: With It was Leslie Jones and Ron Swan.
- 30:07Speaker 1: Leslie Jones was not playing a character either.
- 30:10Speaker 2: No, she was almost trapped in an episode of Parks
- 30:13Speaker 2: of Recreations.
- 30:14Speaker 6: By the way, do you guys ever have time to
- 30:15Speaker 6: watch TV?
- 30:16Speaker 1: I can recall maybe five episodes of television I've ever
- 30:19Speaker 1: seen because I'm always working, and this is one of them.
- 30:21Speaker 3: This is really stuck with me.
- 30:22Speaker 2: Well, I just couldn't. I love the idea of a
- 30:25Speaker 2: real life person being stuck in a very well known sitcom.
- 30:28Speaker 5: Love that trailer.
- 30:32Speaker 2: Whoa this is where? Yeah, this where Lady Gaga could overdose?
- 30:36Speaker 3: That generator looks broken y'all.
- 30:38Speaker 5: Well, that's what we need. We need a broken generator right.
- 30:39Speaker 3: Well, ge and he's gonna kill us.
- 30:42Speaker 5: Well, but we needed for the set that art's gonna
- 30:44Speaker 5: love it.
- 30:45Speaker 3: Yeah, I'll tell you this. I love our job.
- 30:49Speaker 2: Oh I'm in love with our job. I would marry
- 30:51Speaker 2: it if I could. Yeah, me too.
- 30:53Speaker 3: Maybe we turn back around on the way back and
- 30:55Speaker 3: get that trailer.
- 30:56Speaker 2: That'd be great. I didn't take anything the question I asked,
- 30:59Speaker 2: maybe like thirty minutes ago, what's the juiciest thing we
- 31:02Speaker 2: know about each other? We know about each other because
- 31:05Speaker 2: we find out a lot of things on the road,
- 31:07Speaker 2: you know, And I just want to know what you
- 31:08Speaker 2: guys know about me, or what do you think the
- 31:09Speaker 2: juiciest thing is, or what we know about you?
- 31:11Speaker 3: You know? Okay, okay, okay, okay, okay. Well, the craziest
- 31:14Speaker 3: thing I've seen you do, crazy lady, is I've seen
- 31:18Speaker 3: you run into a macaroni grill. I think it was, yeah,
- 31:24Speaker 3: and they were closed. It was like early in the morning,
- 31:27Speaker 3: and we needed a picture of it. We need to
- 31:28Speaker 3: see the back kitchen. Craziest thing I saw you do
- 31:32Speaker 3: was you run in there and you you said you
- 31:34Speaker 3: were you were pissing your pants. You were pissing, piss
- 31:38Speaker 3: and pissing. You said, you said, I'm pissing. You gotta
- 31:41Speaker 3: let me do it, And that store owner did let
- 31:43Speaker 3: you in. You got that freaking picture and we got
- 31:45Speaker 3: out of there.
- 31:46Speaker 1: Oh yeah, that's so good, because they hate when you
- 31:48Speaker 1: take pictures sometimes.
- 31:50Speaker 6: It's crazy thing pictures.
- 31:52Speaker 3: Piss on command, Well, piss on command.
- 31:54Speaker 5: Another thing you do which is really crazy to me
- 31:57Speaker 5: is I remember your parents came to town, and when
- 32:00Speaker 5: your parents come in town, you and Ryan are like
- 32:02Speaker 5: completely different people.
- 32:03Speaker 3: You guys are weird.
- 32:04Speaker 5: It's so weird.
- 32:05Speaker 3: You wear those smocks.
- 32:06Speaker 5: Yeah, you only wear art smocks.
- 32:08Speaker 1: Well, you know, we were raised in a very uh
- 32:12Speaker 1: sort of hippie household, very big on feelings. Uh So,
- 32:19Speaker 1: I mean, I I think I'm.
- 32:20Speaker 6: A little rough around the edges.
- 32:21Speaker 1: You do see me become a little bit of a
- 32:24Speaker 1: of a of an mpath, of a spiller, of a
- 32:28Speaker 1: gut spiller.
- 32:30Speaker 2: It was really nice to hear that stuff because it
- 32:33Speaker 2: did let me know, you know, you're a little bit
- 32:35Speaker 2: of a real person. Saying your brother scares you, you know,
- 32:39Speaker 2: saying like, oh my brother, he's very scary. Actually to me,
- 32:43Speaker 2: I was like, Oh, she's real, she has fears.
- 32:46Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I do have fear because at this
- 32:48Speaker 1: job you you can't have fears.
- 32:50Speaker 2: You can't have fears, can't be afraid of anything.
- 32:53Speaker 6: I was working on this Wes Anderson project.
- 32:56Speaker 3: Uh, it's a little movie.
- 32:57Speaker 6: I don't know if you've heard of it called the
- 32:58Speaker 6: Grand Buddhabest Hotel.
- 33:00Speaker 2: Oh did you find the hotel?
- 33:01Speaker 5: I have not heard of it. I don't want no.
- 33:03Speaker 1: I did find the hotel, or so I thought, but
- 33:07Speaker 1: I got tricked by somebody. I found the Grand Budapest Motel.
- 33:12Speaker 1: I found the Grand Budapest Motel, and I showed up
- 33:15Speaker 1: there was this utter shack.
- 33:17Speaker 6: It was almost career ruining. I had Wes in the back.
- 33:20Speaker 1: He was like ready to get outside, and I just.
- 33:23Speaker 2: Had to.
- 33:28Speaker 5: About him. I will never work for him.
- 33:30Speaker 6: Too many pastels, No, you don't.
- 33:32Speaker 5: I don't know enough interesting places I heard he said about.
- 33:35Speaker 3: Well, that's what's so cool about us is this is
- 33:37Speaker 3: a diverse group that Ryan's got.
- 33:39Speaker 2: But like there are scouts, all four of us are
- 33:41Speaker 2: super diverse people.
- 33:43Speaker 3: I'd say that there are scouts that do that do
- 33:46Speaker 3: pastel spaces right there. There are scouts that will find
- 33:50Speaker 3: weird ship there. There are scouts that will do just
- 33:53Speaker 3: hospitals and standing sets, you know, and then and then yeah,
- 33:57Speaker 3: there are scouts that will do overseas stuff, those scout boats.
- 34:01Speaker 1: And I think where we thrive is this sort of
- 34:05Speaker 1: mental hospital type stuff. I mean, I think American horror
- 34:10Speaker 1: story asylum that really sticks out as a big, big,
- 34:15Speaker 1: good location. And originally that was all rustic barn, kind
- 34:20Speaker 1: of woodworked sort of building, and we really just transformed it.
- 34:26Speaker 3: It's hard to find these rusty spaces online.
- 34:29Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure, it's tough.
- 34:30Speaker 4: No one wants to tell you their place is rusty.
- 34:33Speaker 2: No they're not. They're not putting it out there. They're
- 34:35Speaker 2: not going look up.
- 34:36Speaker 3: And they say, oh we got parking. Oh we're like
- 34:38Speaker 3: ten minutes from this supermarket. We're like, but do you
- 34:41Speaker 3: have rust?
- 34:42Speaker 5: Do you don't?
- 34:46Speaker 3: Usually a negative? I need weird chains with black mold
- 34:50Speaker 3: on them. Oh fuck?
- 34:52Speaker 6: Oh no, mister Murphy is a no.
- 34:56Speaker 1: On the shack we found no shack A or shack
- 35:02Speaker 1: shack B. SHACKB the one we passed about four days ago.
- 35:06Speaker 3: Shack Panga was David and Goliath. Anyway, guys, I mean.
- 35:10Speaker 2: Well, because yeah, it was a big It was a
- 35:13Speaker 2: big thing versus.
- 35:13Speaker 5: But if we go with shack, If we go with
- 35:15Speaker 5: shack A, guys, uh, you know that's gonna you know,
- 35:18Speaker 5: the people movers are gonna have to just move people people.
- 35:23Speaker 2: Shack A is a radio shack and old radio check
- 35:25Speaker 2: right next to a best Buy sometimes.
- 35:27Speaker 3: I know, I brought that up. I brought that up.
- 35:29Speaker 1: I said, this is a selling point and he said no,
- 35:31Speaker 1: Evan Peters wouldn't have sex there.
- 35:34Speaker 5: But just he does he know that? Because then the
- 35:37Speaker 5: amount of routers inside that Best Buy. So many Wi
- 35:40Speaker 5: Fi routers in there, I mean, it's gonna mess with
- 35:42Speaker 5: the signal, Oh for sure.
- 35:44Speaker 3: Yeah. We gotta always stay clear of too many routers.
- 35:48Speaker 3: We're always talking about.
- 35:49Speaker 5: Let's those are kind of the hidden secret, the silent
- 35:52Speaker 5: killers of location scouting.
- 35:54Speaker 3: As routers. I'll walk in and I'll see black mold
- 35:56Speaker 3: or rust or anything or sharp objects come from weird spot,
- 36:00Speaker 3: and I'm like, great, let's shoot, let's this is ready
- 36:02Speaker 3: to go. I see so many routers and I'm like,
- 36:04Speaker 3: this is game over.
- 36:05Speaker 2: This is kind of like it's kind of like setting
- 36:07Speaker 2: up next to a river. You know, it's just gonna
- 36:09Speaker 2: fuck with everything. You don't want to set up there.
- 36:11Speaker 5: We shot freak show next to a river. Oh, we
- 36:13Speaker 5: lost Angela Bassid for three hours. She fell in. She
- 36:17Speaker 5: fell in, had to we had to fish her out.
- 36:18Speaker 5: She fell onto a tube and then she ended up
- 36:21Speaker 5: just having a good time.
- 36:22Speaker 1: So she was just having a good time. She fell
- 36:24Speaker 1: down there.
- 36:25Speaker 3: I don't know if I was there, you.
- 36:26Speaker 4: Got lose because Charlie from the our department let it
- 36:28Speaker 4: go and then.
- 36:29Speaker 2: Oh wow, enemy and my enemy. One thing I'll tell
- 36:32Speaker 2: the audience now is something you don't realize about location scouts.
- 36:36Speaker 2: It's it's kind of dangerous. I mean, you're out in
- 36:38Speaker 2: the wild dealing with a lot of animals, and you're
- 36:39Speaker 2: in the city dealing with a lot of people. And
- 36:42Speaker 2: we've had some close close calls sometimes with that. It's
- 36:45Speaker 2: not all location. It's sometimes the things in the location.
- 36:49Speaker 2: Oh my god.
- 36:50Speaker 3: Scouting in a wild bear park game over.
- 36:52Speaker 2: That was first first why they wanted to shoot specifically
- 36:55Speaker 2: in a wild bear park, a park designated just for bears,
- 37:01Speaker 2: which we.
- 37:01Speaker 1: Didn't know was the thing until until we were plunged
- 37:05Speaker 1: ass deep into it.
- 37:06Speaker 3: Plunged asked deep interior bear park, I go inside the
- 37:11Speaker 3: bear park, like one of those sambourine question.
- 37:15Speaker 2: I'm like, if it's an interior, can't we just shoot
- 37:17Speaker 2: out a lot somewhere.
- 37:19Speaker 1: They said, no, no, no, no, no no no, we
- 37:21Speaker 1: want the He wanted to be an interior, but the
- 37:24Speaker 1: audience has the feeling that bears are on the out.
- 37:27Speaker 3: I remember saying, I don't feel comfortable going unless we
- 37:29Speaker 3: bring the sat medic to the scout and they refused.
- 37:31Speaker 6: They absolutely, he said that's not the budget.
- 37:33Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 37:34Speaker 2: Yeah, we lost a good roy R.
- 37:36Speaker 1: I p roy roy although there are only five seats
- 37:42Speaker 1: in the car, and with that fifth person it was
- 37:46Speaker 1: really cramped. And so you know, in a way, it
- 37:48Speaker 1: was a blessing of disguis.
- 37:49Speaker 2: So to be honest, we had a lot of family
- 37:52Speaker 2: problems and I just did not like hearing about them.
- 37:54Speaker 1: Yeah, like he had a wife, for example, huge problem.
- 37:59Speaker 1: Anybody has significant others.
- 38:01Speaker 3: Well, I have a boyfriend and they just got back
- 38:03Speaker 3: on dates. So we just got back got back on dates.
- 38:05Speaker 4: We for a while, you know, we called we were
- 38:08Speaker 4: kind of dormant.
- 38:08Speaker 5: We weren't not dating. What we were dormant, we weren't
- 38:11Speaker 5: practicing yeah dating.
- 38:12Speaker 3: Yeah, my pup nation period, my partner and I because
- 38:18Speaker 3: he's an rat Emerson.
- 38:20Speaker 5: Oh and I forget how young you are? You just
- 38:23Speaker 5: said it night.
- 38:24Speaker 6: Yeah, because you have been an inter for ten years.
- 38:27Speaker 3: But you were all seen a lot. Yeah, yeah, young
- 38:29Speaker 3: and intern a long time.
- 38:30Speaker 1: I had a I'm not one for love and romance.
- 38:34Speaker 1: I did have a three month relationship with a woman
- 38:37Speaker 1: in Russia. We corresponded over Facebook Messenger. We'd said about
- 38:42Speaker 1: twenty four hundred texts a day.
- 38:44Speaker 3: How'd you meet?
- 38:45Speaker 2: What were the text like this?
- 38:46Speaker 3: They were like, what are you doing? What are you doing?
- 38:48Speaker 5: Now?
- 38:48Speaker 2: What are you doing? Now?
- 38:49Speaker 3: Where are you doing?
- 38:50Speaker 2: Now?
- 38:50Speaker 3: Where are you?
- 38:50Speaker 1: Oh?
- 38:51Speaker 2: It's just location stuff nowhere where she was?
- 38:55Speaker 1: She's a location scout in Russia. And we couldn't figure
- 38:58Speaker 1: out a way to make it. We were where are you?
- 39:05Speaker 1: A picture of herself? And I was like, get out
- 39:07Speaker 1: of there, get out of there. I want to see
- 39:08Speaker 1: the crowd bolding behind you.
- 39:09Speaker 3: Get out of there, Get out of there, get out
- 39:11Speaker 3: of the shot. Your cameras turned the wrong way.
- 39:15Speaker 2: Of you.
- 39:15Speaker 5: Guys, delete pictures off your phones, by the way, not
- 39:19Speaker 5: soon enough. One time I filled up my entire memory
- 39:21Speaker 5: in three hours. Oh yeah, just a different pictures for
- 39:25Speaker 5: five phones.
- 39:26Speaker 3: Worth.
- 39:26Speaker 1: I found it's easier to just buy a new phone
- 39:28Speaker 1: after a certain point.
- 39:29Speaker 2: The worst is when you're looking for a specific tree
- 39:32Speaker 2: in a forest.
- 39:32Speaker 3: You know, here's the thing that we we know the
- 39:38Speaker 3: trees too, so it's like, what's your general base of
- 39:40Speaker 3: the trees and that you just have, and then what
- 39:42Speaker 3: stock footage of you just trying to get you know,
- 39:45Speaker 3: I'll say this that one time we had that scene
- 39:47Speaker 3: I don't remember what show it was on, when the
- 39:50Speaker 3: girl thong got stuck to the ceiling fan.
- 39:54Speaker 5: Show we've done oh since then.
- 39:59Speaker 3: The on a ceiling fan pictures I have of just
- 40:02Speaker 3: different rooms we found in Reno in Bakersfield with ceiling.
- 40:07Speaker 2: Fans thousands, and Ryan said no to literally all of them.
- 40:10Speaker 1: And I remember he made us drive back. We were
- 40:14Speaker 1: we were all the way in Nashville at that point.
- 40:16Speaker 1: We had to drive all the way back because he
- 40:18Speaker 1: wanted a different color thong placed on the ceiling fan
- 40:21Speaker 1: for a test.
- 40:21Speaker 2: Yeah, it has to be in Reno. I will not
- 40:26Speaker 2: much on the carreer. I want the aura of Nevada.
- 40:30Speaker 1: And to be fair, he's right, a Reno room is
- 40:32Speaker 1: much different than a room in Burbank or something it's
- 40:36Speaker 1: much more haunted.
- 40:37Speaker 3: And that's what you're working with a showrunner who knows
- 40:39Speaker 3: his land.
- 40:39Speaker 5: Yeah, I got interrogated ones.
- 40:41Speaker 7: Uh.
- 40:42Speaker 5: The government hacked my phone because of the Patriot Act,
- 40:45Speaker 5: and I had so many photos. I was shooting something
- 40:48Speaker 5: in San Francisco at the time. I had so many
- 40:50Speaker 5: photos in my phone of different people's houses. They thought
- 40:55Speaker 5: I was the nightstalker.
- 40:56Speaker 2: Wow. Wow, I remember this because you ended up taking
- 41:00Speaker 2: so many photos that it ended up a lot of
- 41:03Speaker 2: the places you were taking photos of were night stalker location.
- 41:05Speaker 2: They were our locations.
- 41:06Speaker 5: They were They just corresponded and they thought I was
- 41:09Speaker 5: the Yeah, the d that go ahead, Golden State killer.
- 41:13Speaker 5: They they had me in. They had me in for
- 41:16Speaker 5: about eight hours and then Ryan called and he pulled
- 41:20Speaker 5: some pulled some strings.
- 41:21Speaker 2: Did they ever find that guy?
- 41:22Speaker 5: They did find him recently, okay, And he wasn't me.
- 41:28Speaker 1: It wasn't you because you're too busy or workaholic. You
- 41:31Speaker 1: don't have time to murder. That's what I always say.
- 41:33Speaker 5: I'm a honk. I couldn't be a murderer.
- 41:34Speaker 3: You're a honk.
- 41:35Speaker 5: I'm honk.
- 41:35Speaker 4: I drive all the time and no one knows if
- 41:37Speaker 4: I actually have a home.
- 41:39Speaker 5: I'm a honk.
- 41:39Speaker 2: You're not a murderer. You guys want to know why
- 41:41Speaker 2: we call him honk because he's the driver and he
- 41:44Speaker 2: honks so much.
- 41:45Speaker 1: He's the driver and he honks all the time, and
- 41:48Speaker 1: we haven't heard him do it once. He's forty minutes sober,
- 41:51Speaker 1: I just did it. He's back.
- 41:55Speaker 3: He's back.
- 41:56Speaker 2: Where does he come out of out of the front
- 41:58Speaker 2: of the car.
- 42:00Speaker 5: You can't get a mic over there.
- 42:01Speaker 2: It's not anxiety.
- 42:02Speaker 1: How we can't reacht We can't reach maybe in a
- 42:04Speaker 1: maybe in a little bit.
- 42:07Speaker 2: Well, what what's your favorite road meals? Guys?
- 42:10Speaker 5: Chips?
- 42:11Speaker 2: Yeah, I gotta be chi.
- 42:12Speaker 3: I don't need anymore.
- 42:13Speaker 2: I got food poisoning anymore for God.
- 42:17Speaker 5: So you brought that up.
- 42:18Speaker 3: You got to read the instruction on some of those
- 42:19Speaker 3: because some of those have Darien instructions.
- 42:21Speaker 2: Instructions on chips, open bag, eat chip.
- 42:27Speaker 3: I'm so sorry at Emerson, we call it instructions that
- 42:30Speaker 3: it's actually nutrition all that that specific.
- 42:33Speaker 2: Everson.
- 42:33Speaker 4: Yeah, you're so unique, so special over there.
- 42:38Speaker 2: Now here's a fun thing. You look at this location, guys,
- 42:40Speaker 2: look at this location. It's an apartment. Calm, Well, all
- 42:42Speaker 2: these people outside I think this is a classic location
- 42:46Speaker 2: trick where you think it's a good location based on
- 42:49Speaker 2: the people outside rather than the exterior silver like effect.
- 42:53Speaker 2: It's the silver lake like effect.
- 42:55Speaker 1: It's a bunch of you know, hot twenty something standing
- 42:57Speaker 1: outside of a coffee shop. You get inside the coffee shop.
- 42:59Speaker 3: It's shit.
- 43:00Speaker 2: It's absolutely ship.
- 43:01Speaker 3: You try to get a freaking breakfast brito and all
- 43:03Speaker 3: they have or keen while blueberry.
- 43:06Speaker 5: And the drink machine isn't even plugged in.
- 43:11Speaker 2: Good, good, good, good.
- 43:14Speaker 3: Plug this in so I can read the instructions on
- 43:16Speaker 3: this thing.
- 43:17Speaker 5: You are so quirky.
- 43:18Speaker 3: How many hours until till we get to Boston.
- 43:23Speaker 2: Well, we have to get to Arkansas a little rock first,
- 43:25Speaker 2: then hop on the training.
- 43:28Speaker 5: We're driving from California. When we met at this guy's
- 43:31Speaker 5: house parking.
- 43:33Speaker 1: I will say it's tough to location scout on a train.
- 43:35Speaker 1: Every time we do it, it doesn't doesn't work too quickly.
- 43:40Speaker 3: We're going to turn off the live feature on the
- 43:42Speaker 3: iPhone because then your photo is just mushed.
- 43:45Speaker 1: And I've gone to the conductor. I've said listen, I'm
- 43:48Speaker 1: on a Ryan Murphy project. You need to pull over
- 43:51Speaker 1: so I could take a picture of that rusted.
- 43:52Speaker 2: Carlow down there and they won't do it.
- 43:55Speaker 3: They never try to get Lady Gag got a fucking
- 43:57Speaker 3: a rustic car.
- 43:58Speaker 5: Well, you guys trying to get you guys. Remember a
- 44:01Speaker 5: season four of American Horror Story. It was supposed to
- 44:05Speaker 5: be American Horror Story Train and we just couldn't.
- 44:08Speaker 2: We could we couldn't, couldn't do We were the reasons.
- 44:10Speaker 5: We were the ones the script had everyone and you know,
- 44:14Speaker 5: first American was going to do.
- 44:17Speaker 1: And I guess we would have done it in a
- 44:20Speaker 1: stopped train. That is something that we've run by each
- 44:23Speaker 1: other several times.
- 44:27Speaker 5: Yan said I'd love to do it on a stop train.
- 44:29Speaker 2: We all put our.
- 44:31Speaker 6: Yeah, it's not real.
- 44:32Speaker 3: We rarely put our foot down as a very small
- 44:35Speaker 3: department of a big machine and say no, not this script.
- 44:40Speaker 3: That's only happened with that one. It happened with American
- 44:44Speaker 3: Crime Story Mars.
- 44:45Speaker 5: We said that was crazy.
- 44:47Speaker 3: We said, it's either us or Art. You're going to
- 44:49Speaker 3: pick one or the other.
- 44:50Speaker 2: American Crimes Story Mars was a crazy concept.
- 44:52Speaker 1: Yeah, because what we wanted to do was make it
- 44:54Speaker 1: all inside of like a French villa and say, well,
- 44:57Speaker 1: you don't know what Mars is like, you've never been
- 44:59Speaker 1: to Mars.
- 45:00Speaker 2: It's a French fill.
- 45:00Speaker 3: Maybe it's a French villa. That was really when you
- 45:02Speaker 3: were pissed at your brother. Oh, I was pissed.
- 45:04Speaker 6: I was pissed.
- 45:05Speaker 1: I didn't come to Christmas. I didn't come to Christmas.
- 45:08Speaker 1: I said, you can get your own tree. You can
- 45:10Speaker 1: get your own fur tree. You could scout your own.
- 45:12Speaker 1: You could scout your own and put it in the
- 45:13Speaker 1: back of your pickup truck of Bryan go off in Ryan.
- 45:17Speaker 2: Do you guys remember when we tried to shoot upside
- 45:19Speaker 2: down world for a Stranger Things? Or was that a
- 45:22Speaker 2: dream I had? Sorry, most of my dreams are location
- 45:25Speaker 2: scout related.
- 45:26Speaker 3: Oh, it's so hard.
- 45:27Speaker 6: Tell me it's like a dream. I think that feels
- 45:30Speaker 6: like you guys.
- 45:30Speaker 2: Tell me. It was all of us and we found
- 45:33Speaker 2: this location and it was kind of a big cave
- 45:35Speaker 2: and everything was upside down, and we thought, oh, this
- 45:38Speaker 2: could work. And then Santa Claus came out and said,
- 45:40Speaker 2: you're getting coal. You're a bad, bad person. And then
- 45:44Speaker 2: I think something else happened where I shot a gun
- 45:46Speaker 2: and hit somebody with it.
- 45:48Speaker 5: That sounds like a location scouts stress tree.
- 45:50Speaker 6: That sounds like a location scout Mari.
- 45:52Speaker 5: I ha location scouts stress dream. It was I was
- 45:55Speaker 5: shooting on Quentin Tarantino movie, on a place that wouldn't
- 45:58Speaker 5: let people take their shoes off. That was the stress
- 46:02Speaker 5: dream that.
- 46:02Speaker 2: I have, absolute stress dream.
- 46:04Speaker 3: I'll tell you the location scout stress dream I got
- 46:07Speaker 3: is you're in the place and you can't find an outlet.
- 46:10Speaker 3: There's no outlet. Game over.
- 46:13Speaker 5: That is the game.
- 46:16Speaker 3: Another SI in the dream, I'm just sticking it on
- 46:20Speaker 3: walls and I can't find it. Your holes, I'm making
- 46:24Speaker 3: holes and then be start going through the holes.
- 46:26Speaker 2: I one time had a stress stream, a location scouts
- 46:29Speaker 2: stress stream. I was naked in a cornfield running from
- 46:33Speaker 2: my father.
- 46:35Speaker 3: She's going to let you in.
- 46:37Speaker 2: So that was a crazy one, all.
- 46:39Speaker 1: Right for the listener. We're trying to merge right now.
- 46:41Speaker 1: We're trying to merge a lot.
- 46:44Speaker 3: Because we always are turned around when we see something.
- 46:47Speaker 3: Thank you so much, lady. Yeah, we're never looking on
- 46:49Speaker 3: the road.
- 46:50Speaker 2: They're always great. We got to pull over here this week,
- 46:52Speaker 2: gotta take some photos and pull over here.
- 46:54Speaker 3: Yeah, that KFC.
- 46:56Speaker 2: I love this KFC. You could only find a KFC
- 46:58Speaker 2: here here.
- 47:00Speaker 1: They say you should just use the KFC that's in Burbank,
- 47:05Speaker 1: And I said, no, no, we gotta go.
- 47:07Speaker 3: To this one. Sometimes those awnings, the way they are
- 47:10Speaker 3: built really shows the town. I can always tell Palm
- 47:13Speaker 3: Springs awnings from La Palm Springs KFC.
- 47:17Speaker 5: This is a good question for you guys. What is
- 47:20Speaker 5: something that you only know because your location scout?
- 47:23Speaker 3: Good question, It's a great question. I know that when
- 47:27Speaker 3: you put a thong on a ceiling fan, and it's
- 47:31Speaker 3: one of those ones from Home Depot, you can put
- 47:35Speaker 3: a pretty sizable hot lady in that thong.
- 47:39Speaker 2: A sizeable hot lady, pretty sizable.
- 47:46Speaker 3: And sizeable or is she pretty.
- 47:48Speaker 2: Sizeable, pretty Comma sizable or is it pretty sizable?
- 47:53Speaker 4: Well, Ryan famously says, get me the biggest hot lady.
- 47:56Speaker 5: You can find.
- 47:58Speaker 3: Says it all the time.
- 48:01Speaker 2: The most sizable.
- 48:04Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 48:06Speaker 1: And sometimes he means just big on screen, like big performance,
- 48:09Speaker 1: And he's really to tell.
- 48:11Speaker 2: What he means big hands. He doesn't really he.
- 48:15Speaker 3: Means bigger theatrical. Okay, I got a new Uh.
- 48:19Speaker 1: I just got a text from mister Murphy. Uh, We're
- 48:23Speaker 1: we're no longer doing American Horror Story. Uh, season sixty eight.
- 48:28Speaker 1: We are skipping to us. Yet we're no longer doing
- 48:31Speaker 1: menacing rock. We're now doing it underwater. It's an underwater
- 48:35Speaker 1: horror story with fish vampires. And so we got a
- 48:38Speaker 1: scout underwater.
- 48:41Speaker 2: Scout.
- 48:44Speaker 6: I will have a long time alone with our thoughts.
- 48:47Speaker 3: I will knock it on the phone with Sea World again.
- 48:49Speaker 3: Those those women are bullies. Those women are bullies. I
- 48:54Speaker 3: will never go speak with those women again. They bully
- 48:58Speaker 3: do the warldly and a half. Turn those women off,
- 49:03Speaker 3: Turn them off.
- 49:05Speaker 2: I've got a pool we could look at. Is it
- 49:07Speaker 2: kind of a big, big underwater.
- 49:09Speaker 1: No, mister Murphy wants reefs, he wants fish.
- 49:12Speaker 5: Well, here's the thing, my buddy, uh SERGEI runs duck
- 49:16Speaker 5: boats in Boston. So once we get to Boston, we'll
- 49:19Speaker 5: get on a duck boat, okay, and then we'll take
- 49:21Speaker 5: the duck boat from Boston down to the Caribbean.
- 49:24Speaker 2: Will we follow the river system or uh yeah, the ocean?
- 49:29Speaker 4: I think so.
- 49:30Speaker 1: We're gonna have to hijack the duck boat though, because
- 49:33Speaker 1: those only have a rout of like fifteen minutes round trip.
- 49:35Speaker 5: No, no, no, no, We'll be fine. Trust me. Honks
- 49:38Speaker 5: on it.
- 49:39Speaker 2: Honk can drive a dome, can we trust Hong Kong.
- 49:44Speaker 2: I guess what, I only.
- 49:46Speaker 1: Speaking of Honka, honka, honka the lady.
- 49:49Speaker 3: I'm in a location.
- 49:50Speaker 5: It's the pretty size of a lady.
- 49:53Speaker 2: Wow, we got a location scout her. I gotta I
- 49:56Speaker 2: gotta scout that location. This is something you guys have
- 49:58Speaker 2: to know as a locations got We are kind of
- 50:00Speaker 2: mad dogs on the road sailors like that.
- 50:03Speaker 3: I'm only I mean, I'm a virgin.
- 50:05Speaker 1: I only had that one online relationship for three months,
- 50:07Speaker 1: so I'm really like.
- 50:10Speaker 2: Couch and Faye through hoping for the best. I'd like
- 50:12Speaker 2: to locate her outlets.
- 50:14Speaker 5: You know what I mean?
- 50:14Speaker 3: My god, hey, do you need a second source of power?
- 50:20Speaker 2: Well, that is a fun thing of when one of
- 50:22Speaker 2: us decides to have, you know, a little soiree, a
- 50:25Speaker 2: little hookup session in the back. So we basically what
- 50:28Speaker 2: we do is we put them.
- 50:29Speaker 3: We don't have time to stop, We don't have time
- 50:31Speaker 3: to stop and make a night out of it.
- 50:32Speaker 2: We say do you to our lovely ladies and gents,
- 50:35Speaker 2: We say, do you want to do something? We're gonna
- 50:38Speaker 2: have to do it in the back and I'll drop
- 50:40Speaker 2: you off about I don't know two hundred miles from
- 50:42Speaker 2: where we started.
- 50:43Speaker 1: Yeah, you gotta set your tender location for two hundred
- 50:46Speaker 1: miles away because so then because we got to and
- 50:48Speaker 1: in the meantime, we'll go there, we'll get them on
- 50:51Speaker 1: the way, we'll drop you guys off, we'll pick them
- 50:53Speaker 1: up on the round.
- 50:54Speaker 5: Then we take that. We we give them ubers, and
- 50:56Speaker 5: the ubers are part of out of our predeums. So
- 50:58Speaker 5: there's sometimes where one of us won't for weeks.
- 51:00Speaker 2: No, it's sex or you choose sex or food a
- 51:04Speaker 2: lot of the time on the road.
- 51:05Speaker 3: And that's why we get stuck with cake so much.
- 51:08Speaker 4: Because speak for yourself. I'm proud to beat.
- 51:11Speaker 1: Mostly I mean, I'm personally eating Doritos.
- 51:14Speaker 2: All the time. I'm so sorry about that. Mostly snacking
- 51:17Speaker 2: on Dorito's.
- 51:18Speaker 3: I literally can't. It's just like cottage cheese to.
- 51:20Speaker 2: Me, I truly believe there's no dairy in them.
- 51:26Speaker 3: But they were. It was a cottage cheese like substance.
- 51:30Speaker 5: I don't think she made. I think she made like cheese.
- 51:36Speaker 3: I think I think confusion, like a cheese dual ranch.
- 51:41Speaker 5: Well, we should ask her. She's sitting here for an
- 51:44Speaker 5: hour and a half. She's been sitting here the whole time,
- 51:46Speaker 5: and she has a mic and she hasn't said anything.
- 51:48Speaker 5: The silent freak.
- 51:50Speaker 2: I made cool Ranch, just Ranch, she speaks.
- 51:54Speaker 1: That's the only thing she's ever said. It's the only
- 51:57Speaker 1: thing she's ever said. Okay, back in the truck see
- 51:59Speaker 1: reap whole zone budget ass stupid.
- 52:07Speaker 3: You can never act like she could.
- 52:08Speaker 2: Sorry.
- 52:09Speaker 1: Another thing about our job is that were really cruel
- 52:11Speaker 1: to the standard we take along with us.
- 52:13Speaker 3: What's the hour drives During the two hours, we've become
- 52:17Speaker 3: the biggest freaking bullies. It's like SeaWorld with me on
- 52:19Speaker 3: the farm.
- 52:20Speaker 2: Ripping people left and right. We're talking about everybody on
- 52:23Speaker 2: the side of the Sarah.
- 52:24Speaker 3: Why do you stand up for yourself? Why don't you?
- 52:26Speaker 3: Where's your oscar? Try and shoot me with that?
- 52:29Speaker 6: Speaking of bullies, the Madonna in.
- 52:32Speaker 3: People are full. Another indie up and coming director talk
- 52:40Speaker 3: to me about scouting the Madonna.
- 52:42Speaker 1: In because I call them, I say in my I
- 52:44Speaker 1: put on my nice voice, I say hey, hey, yeah,
- 52:49Speaker 1: do you have any availabill And they're like, now.
- 52:53Speaker 3: You know who's like voice I use with my parents?
- 52:55Speaker 5: You know what's frustrating by that?
- 52:56Speaker 2: Though?
- 52:56Speaker 5: I will say about the Madonna and they are literally
- 52:58Speaker 5: the Swiss Army knife of the little case.
- 53:00Speaker 4: I mean everything they could use him for.
- 53:03Speaker 2: Underwater, They've got that room underwater.
- 53:05Speaker 1: The irony, there are location scouts, wet dream and we
- 53:08Speaker 1: just can't we just can't get it.
- 53:10Speaker 5: There are this is an industry.
- 53:12Speaker 1: Oh oh oh oh empty lot.
- 53:15Speaker 2: Empty lot. Ja murdered. This could be where he murders
- 53:19Speaker 2: those kids.
- 53:19Speaker 3: That's great.
- 53:20Speaker 5: He wouldn't do that.
- 53:21Speaker 4: There's too close to the road. You wouldn't murder someone there.
- 53:24Speaker 3: Sometimes when I think about a murder, the FBI flagging
- 53:28Speaker 3: you to be the night talker. Sometimes in my head
- 53:30Speaker 3: I go, why do we call them honk?
- 53:33Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 53:33Speaker 3: Why and why does he.
- 53:35Speaker 2: Have a big suitcase disappear at nights?
- 53:38Speaker 3: It's funny. Yeah, we're driving the cars.
- 53:42Speaker 4: I find it's so funny. I think we all have
- 53:44Speaker 4: our own funny little quirk.
- 53:45Speaker 3: Yeah, it's like, why does he insist on it?
- 53:46Speaker 5: It's funny.
- 53:47Speaker 4: I have those questions. It's hilarious, Like only.
- 53:50Speaker 3: Serial killers eat cake.
- 53:51Speaker 5: Every day, and it's funny to think about. It's you know,
- 53:54Speaker 5: we all have little weird things.
- 53:56Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, you might be a serial killer. You got
- 53:58Speaker 2: you think Dorito's they're just regular ranch and I sleep
- 54:01Speaker 2: with my eye open, one of my eye.
- 54:03Speaker 3: I hate that about you. When we share hotel rooms.
- 54:08Speaker 2: We always share hotel rooms because.
- 54:10Speaker 3: We're we're the poorest of the team.
- 54:13Speaker 2: Yeah, out of We always are ranking each other's wealth.
- 54:17Speaker 3: Yeah, how much.
- 54:17Speaker 6: Money does everybody have?
- 54:19Speaker 3: Let's go around when we get bored, we talk about
- 54:20Speaker 3: our savings.
- 54:22Speaker 2: Okay, whereby name they're saving money?
- 54:24Speaker 3: Does everyone savings?
- 54:25Speaker 2: Savings?
- 54:27Speaker 1: I have five hundred thousand dollars. It used to be
- 54:30Speaker 1: six million, thanks to some charitable contributions for mister Murphy.
- 54:35Speaker 1: But I did lose it all weasel racing in Vegas
- 54:39Speaker 1: one weekend.
- 54:39Speaker 3: When we stop by.
- 54:40Speaker 2: I remember that and just a hearty woman.
- 54:44Speaker 6: I'm a hardy woman. I'm a hearty Yeah.

- 54:47Speaker 2: money weasel racing. And I said, is that a location
- 54:50Speaker 2: stout stress dream? And you said, I wish, I wish.
- 54:57Speaker 6: No, sometimes you wake up and you're not dreaming.
- 54:59Speaker 3: What about you and I soccer? Me?
- 55:03Speaker 4: That's funny.
- 55:05Speaker 5: Yeah, I have five thousand dollars in savings, but I
- 55:07Speaker 5: have three million dollars in my checking account.
- 55:10Speaker 2: You should do you do that for fun?
- 55:17Speaker 5: I just no, I'm just I can't. I can't check
- 55:21Speaker 5: my banking app and drive and I'm always driving.
- 55:23Speaker 3: Oh wow.
- 55:24Speaker 5: It's just hard for me because by the time I
- 55:26Speaker 5: get to the hotel room, I'm so tired. I can't
- 55:29Speaker 5: even look at my phone. Yeah, so I just you know,
- 55:32Speaker 5: I need to hire someone.
